Flint, Soma & Marvaco webinar
Flint Group collaborated with key industry partners to deliver a comprehensive webinar on the latest technology to deliver successfully extended gamut printing (EGP). With live footage of the latest Soma Optima² CI intelligent flexo press in action at the Soma Technology Centre in Lanskroun, Czech Republic, the team printed an eco-friendly, full high definition, EGP design reverse printed on polypropylene film.
The design focused on 80 lpcm (203 dpi) HiQ expanded gamut printing, demonstrating gang-run printing of ten brand extensions printed in different brand colors. The job utilized low volume aniloxes and high-intensity inks in CMYK, as well as green, violet, and a high opacity white, delivering outstanding results with high vibrancy and detail.
Thomas Strohe, senior director of Segmentation & Product Strategy at Flint Group, gave insight to Flint Group’s contributions to the project. “In line with our sustainability vision, which focuses on supporting packaging markets with responsibly built products and sustainable solutions designed for circular economies, the webinar was a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the performance and environmental benefits of our EGP solutions.
“The live demo showcased our unique portfolio of sleeves, plates, and solvent-based inks to the audience and, being the only global supplier fully EGP certified via a full solution in covering both plates and inks, we were able to evidence our ability to lift print quality to the next level.
“We are listening to our customers’ needs for simplification, innovation, reliability, and sustainability. EGP is the perfect representation of this strategy. It offers printers the opportunity to deliver fantastic print results while, at the same time, simplifying their ink ranges, reducing costs, and importantly, delivering numerous benefits for the environment.”
Flint’s inks demonstrate seamless EGP printing
Flint Group’s FlexiPrint MV inks are modified nitrocellulose-based inks that have been optimized for high-quality flexographic surface or lamination printing on a wide variety of films. The inks provide excellent rub, water and heat resistance, superior print quality at high speeds, and low odor. FlexiPrint MV inks are tested according to OK Compost certification standards, making them suitable for a wide variety of compostable packaging films and applications. Designed for circularity, Flint Group Packaging Inks’ FlexiPrint MV is approved by Cadel Deinking for water-based deinking to support the recycling process of plastic-based packaging material.
With maximized color strength and specific shades to support HiQ and Expanded Gamut multi-colour process work, these inks are modified explicitly for high-speed printing and enhanced press stability, enhancing overall equipment efficiency.
Flint’s flexo plates and sleeves
The challenging design in the demo was printed with Flint’s nyloflex FTS, a flexographic plate with inherent flat-top dots that helps to combine different types of jobs for different segments on to one plate. In addition, the rotec Blue Light Sleeve, the benchmark in plate mounting, contributed with superior service life and excellent durability.
The same design will be as well printed with a nyloflex XVH, a versatile flat-top dot thermal printing plate for the flexible packaging and label markets. It will be processed with the nyloflex Xpress Thermal Processor, an easy-to-use system of several components, to reliably deliver a complete solution for lightning-fast plate making and high-end flexographic printing.
Benefits include 30% less waste, up to 88% electricity-use reduction, and a plate processing time of just 45 minutes, resulting in reduced operating costs, improved productivity, and excellent print quality.
Strohe concluded, “Despite the Covid-19 era’s challenges, sustainability remains at the forefront of considerations for brands and their supply partners. Utilizing Flint Group solutions to deliver EGP means printers can reduce ink and solvent consumption, increase productivity, and boost their sustainability credentials. A winning combination for today’s packaging business environment!”

Male Eivor x Reader ~Fear~
-Hey everyone! Wow it’s been.... A really long time since I’ve written anything here... Well with AC Valhalla coming out I thought it was only fitting if I add Eivor to my list! Enjoy everyone, let me know if there’s anything you want me to write next!-
TW: mentions of blood
The sun was drifting close to the horizon as the day had finally come close to its end and Eivor was still searching through Grantebridge. As most of the merchants were packing up for the night and preparing to return to their families Eivor was jogging from stall to stall, looking up and down for any sight of the girl he was supposed to be watching but there was absolutely no sight of her. After the last merchant had closed up shop for the night he sighed and rubbed his sore neck wishing the gods would stop wasting time and take him already. Making his way back to his horse he pondered where she could have gone, searching the recesses of his mind for any clues. She said that she needed supplies and obviously that’s why Eivor came to the market but he had been looking for her for some time now and if she was getting supplies here then someone would have at least seen her. His steed nibbled on his sleeve slightly and Eivor put a hand on the horse's broad neck, patting him gently and sighing once more.
“Why do I always get put in charge of people hm?” He leaned his head against his horse’s neck and received a huff in response.
Eivor stopped to think, if one was going to collect supplies but wasn’t doing it at a market then where would they go? His first thought was to raiding but there’s no way that this Saxon girl was storming a monastery anytime soon, although he would have paid good money to see her try. Eivor then, shaking the comical idea from his mind, realized at once where she went although he was not too excited to go and look for her. He mounted his horse and spurred him down the road and off towards the woods nearby, whipping past trees and fields as they went. As the sun began to droop lower into the sky the world faded into twilight. The warm orange of sunset was melting lower past the horizon and was being replaced with purples and blues, all swirling in the clouds as the last few rays of light sliced through the sky. Specks of starlight were poking through the sky as Eivor raced to the forest, the tree tops being doused in an inky black darkness as the sun began to set. It was dangerous out in the woods at night, especially for a girl who had brought nothing but a basket and a small hatchet with her. As far as Eivor was concerned, she was easy prey for anything out there whether it be man or beast, and he certainly did not want to see her harmed by either.
He slowed his horse from a strong gallop and listened closely to the silent and thick air of the woods. As he rode further the trees began to grow tighter, the roots rose out of the ground threatening to trip his horse. Branches scratched at his cheeks and caught his tunic forcing him to halt his horse and dismount, sending his steed off back the way they came.
“Don’t worry boy, I’ll be back soon.” he patted his horse fondly and turned to face the expanse of growing darkness in front of him.
He pulled out a torch and kneeled down to light it, striking over it with a shard of flint and sending little sparks flying from between the rocks. The sparks caught and a flame slowly grew over the torch, consuming the alcohol soaked cloth at the end and roaring forth in a bright flame that illuminated the path ahead with an orange glow. Eivor trekked forward, stopping once in a while to listen to the shaking of the leaves and the rustle of small creatures until a sound forced him still. It was clear, bright, it sliced through the night like a razor and it brought a cold sweat to Eivor’s brow. Wolves. The howl was loud, but not too close, and there was only one which so far was a good sign but he worried about the rest that would soon be following. He sped up his pace while trying to be as silent as possible. Step after step he calculated his way forward, heading towards where the sound of the howl came from. Soon he emerged in an oblong clearing with a rock protruding out of the ground, jutting up against a slight cliff of more jagged rock.
“Get away you beast!” A tired but spirited voice cracked from the rock.
Eivor looked forward and felt his heart lighten slightly at the sight of the girl he had been looking for. She was standing on the rock with her back against the cliff frantically waving a piece of firewood in the face of the snarling creature in front of her. The wolf’s hair stood straight up and it’s growl permeated the air in a low hanging rumble. Eivor felt his chest tighten again at the sound and he tried to reach for his axe. His hand froze, fingers close to the handle but refusing to move. He could feel his heartbeat in his ears and his neck, sweat continued to develop on his forehead and he could do nothing but stare and shake. His breath and his entire form was telling him to just turn around and run for it, but as he watched her swat at the animal with nothing but a mere twig in hand Eivor found himself going against his body's wishes. With a breath to collect himself and a quick prayer to Odin he ran forward and before the wolf could turn around he plunged his hidden blade between the animal's ribs and felt as the breath escaped its mouth and its muscles finally relaxed. The animal slumped to the ground in a heap of grey fur, blood dripping out of a single clean cut.
“Eivor! You found me!” The girl chimed, looking incredibly relieved.
“Luckily, or you would have become a feast. What were you doing out here?” He replied, nudging the wolf carcass with his foot as he raised an eyebrow towards her trying to seem as natural as possible.
“Like I told you I was getting supplies.” She raised her nose slightly at him.
“The market was open, why didn’t you just go there?” He asked as he looked at the tree line, wary of any yellow eyes staring back at him. .
“Because…” She looked down at her collection of firewood, “Because I didn’t like the type of wood they had at the market…”
Eivor smirked and crossed his arms, knowing full well that was a lie. He was starting to feel much more comfortable now with her here, it was incredible how she could stare down the snout of a beast and still be trying to fool him. He waited for her response.
“... OK! Ok, I forgot all of my silver and I didn’t want to bug you for anything so I thought I could go to the woods and get supplies myself and meet you back at the market before you even noticed… but I got a little bit lost… and then I got cornered…” She looked up at him slightly and cracked a small pitiful smile in appeasement and Eivor simply smirked in return.
“Well, you’re very lucky that I found you but you can’t run off like that again, there was only one wolf this time but what happens when it’s the whole pack?” He looked back down at the dead wolf and felt a shiver go up his spine.
“I will scream for help louder next time then,” She smiled brightly at Eivor and he could feel the shiver be replaced with warmth.
“Ok well, we need to get out of here before we run into the rest of them, one wolf of this size is formidable enough but a whole pack is something I’d rather not deal with.” He leaned over and grabbed her basket and offered her a hand down from the rock. She smiled and took it, climbing down and taking her basket from him. He kept an eye out on the tree line as he pretended not to notice her holding onto his arm and they started to walk back towards the forest path together.
“You had a hatchet with you, yes?” Eivor said, still listening to his surroundings.
“Oh! Yes! I almost forgot about it!” She replied, holding onto him a little tighter as the trees closed in around them. “I wonder where I left it…”
“You should be more careful, coming out here all by yourself without a real weapon is a death sentence.” His gruff voice delivered the slight sting of being reprimanded but also showed a deep care and concern which made her heart positively melt with every word.
“I know… it’s just you were busy and I didn’t really feel like dragging you out of your important meeting with Soma.” She said as she brushed aside a stray branch.
“I would have followed you out here regardless.” He said ducking slightly under a limb.
He could tell that she was getting a little tense and she tightened her hold on his arm, “I disagree, whatever she had to say was much more important than following a smith to the woods.”
Eivor shot her a side glance and narrowed his eyebrows and just as he was going to press further into what she meant he stopped. He lowered himself to the ground and pulled her close, putting a hand over her mouth softly and looking around. He could hear something. A crack of twigs and a rustle of leaves from his left and a brush of the ground from his right but at this point the night had advanced so much it was almost pitch black and he had left his torch back at the clearing. He stopped and waited, breathing slowly and trying to calm himself down. The girl in his arms shook slightly, either from the cold or from fear he didn’t know. Tightening his grip around her he removed his hand from her mouth and started to reach for his axe, slowly, this time his hands were quick to obey as he grasped the handle and pulled it out. He looked down at her and nodded slowly, hoping she understood the signal. Slowly, he started to rise, careful to balance his weight exactly where it had been as to not make any sounds. In one second he pushed the girl out of his arms and turned to his right, racing forward to sink his axe into the neck of a wolf ready to pounce. The girl tripped but gathered herself and sprinted forward, racing through the trees, ducking and pushing her way out of the woods as Eivor was left face to face with his worst fear. Before him stood a huge, black furred wolf with gleaming yellow eyes and an array of yellow fangs dripping with spit. The wolf twitched and lowered its head, growling and snarling as it’s massive paws depressed into the ground. Eivor could feel fear seep in, his heart was racing and his limbs shaking and disobeying. Wide eyed he stared at the creature in front of him as he shrank slowly, feeling once more like a child on a frozen lake. He knew what those teeth would feel like ripping into his skin, he’s felt it before. He knew what those claws could do, the pain they were designed to bring. Eivor felt himself shrink into a child, small and helpless, his years of warring and raiding melted away, his muscles evaporated as he felt himself become weak and small. The wolf stepped closer, the rumble of it’s growl growing.
“EIVOR!” A voice screamed from somewhere in the distance but the fog surrounding Eivors mind was too thick, he scarcely even recognized his own name. “EIVOR!!” Once again there it was, Eivor twitched and turned slightly but he was too afraid to take his attention off the animal in front of him.
“EIVOR YOU BLOCK HEAD- DUCK!” The voice screamed at him and finally he recognized it, his body snapped into motion as he fell to the forest floor as metal whipped overhead.
The wolf exclaimed a high yip and fell to the ground in a slump of fur and teeth, twitching as life drained from it. Eivor dared not to look up, he wasn’t sure what had happened but he was too afraid even still to move. That duck had been the last push of his might.
“Eivor! Are you alright!?” The voice spoke, the girl he was supposed to be watching swooped down and grabbed his shoulders.
She could feel him shake through his many layers and pulled him close, “Eivor are you hurt?” She asked, concerned.
He could feel some sense returning to him as he melted in her embrace, he wrapped his large arms around her and collapsed into her lap, breathing frantically and heavily. She wasn’t sure what to do, she had never seen a man this formidable this scared before. She gently stroked his hair as he shook the fear out of his body and tried to force his breath back to normal.
“Everything is going to be ok Eivor, he’s dead.” Her soft voice drifted into his ears and he tried so hard to be normal again but he continued to tremble. “Look,” She brought his face up from her lap and gestured to the dead wolf in front of him. “See?”
Eivors stomach lurched slightly but reason took over as he saw the hatchet sticking out of the wolf's forehead, blood staining the blade slightly.
“I see you… found your hatchet” He nervously laughed as he sat himself up and took a handful of deep breaths.
She stared at him slightly, running a hand through his hair once more and smiling at him gently. “He can keep it,” She joked. “Come on, we need to get out of these woods.”
The two found themselves back in Grantebridge, weary, a little bloody, and ready to collapse. Soma had arranged a room for them in the longhouse and neither of them had the energy to oppose. They walked into the longhouse, warmth circling them from the large hearth in the center, they could hear slight bouts of chatter as they walked towards their room but they didn’t have the energy nor the care to listen. Eivor watched as she walked in the room first, she took a look around and her eyes landed on the bed.
“Don’t worry I can sleep on the floor,” Eivor spoke up, breaking their comfortable silence.
“Oh… Yes… I suppose…” She started to flush at the cheeks as the Dane started to take off his cloak and unsling his weapons.
Quickly she turned around and stared at the large bed before her. There were furs of all kinds draped over the bed and many pillows, it looked terribly inviting but incredibly lonely as well. She knew however, the consequences of a Saxon woman letting a Dane sleep in her bed, as unfortunate as it was she couldn’t get herself in an uncomfortable position that would damage either her, or her fathers reputation. She looked back slightly at Eivor, he was down to his tunic now. He looked different without all those layers and weapons on, this way he looked so much softer. She stared for a little too long and turned back around, looking down at her dirty and tattered frock. She knew she couldn’t sleep in this but she also didn’t think undressing in front of a Dane was any better than sleeping in the same bed as him.
Eivor folded his cloak and placed it on the ground next to the bear skin that would stand as his bed tonight. As he looked back up he noticed a lingering glance from the girl before him. A blush on her cheeks as she quickly turned the other way. “Sorry… Would you like me to sleep outside?’ He asked.
“No! No.. I mean, of course not! I’m just… I’ve never…” She looked down at her hands and she fiddled with her frock, picking some dried mud off of it. “Um, well I’m going to put the candles out um… thank you for saving my life!” She hurried to the candles and hushed them out, darkness overtook the room and Eivor stood staring.
He shrugged it off and lowered himself down onto the bearskin rug, he could hear the brief thump of her clothes hitting the floor and he forced himself away from any impure thoughts. He could feel his weariness start to take over him but every time he closed his eyes he saw the same thing. Those gnashing teeth, the curled snout, eyes of amber staring straight into his very soul. Every time he tried to relax his muscles he could feel those teeth in his neck and those claws ripping down his back.
“Eivor…” A soft voice forced his attention.
“Yes?” he replied, he could hear the sleep on her voice.
“Could you…. If you wanted to…. Um…. come up here...please,” she stuttered.
It caught the Dane off guard at first. He sat up slowly and turned to look through the darkness. “Are you sure?” he asked.
“Um well, if you don’t want to I-”
‘No, I want to.” He smiled slightly and stood up slowly. “I don’t want to make you uncomfortable”
“Well you just standing there staring at me is making me uncomfortable.”
He laughed and smiled, walking towards the bed and placing his hand down on the furs. “Well in that case I’ll just keep my eyes closed.”
He lowered himself down into the bed, careful to keep a respectful distance.
“You could… come closer.” She said softly.
Eivor moved slightly, “Is that better?”
“A…. a little bit closer.”
Once more he moved, he could feel the warmth of her body radiating at this distance, it was almost intoxicating. “Better?”
“Just.. a little closer.”
Eivor moved closer, he could feel her body against his and he could feel his face erupt in warmth. “Better?”
“Much… thank you.” She leaned back into him and sighed with content.
He wrapped his large arm over her waist and with a little tug pulled her flush against him. She smiled and prayed that this would never end.
“Thank you for saving me….” Eivors low voice said softly.
“I should be the one saying that.” She laughed and he could feel it through her back.
They melted into each other's arms and he closed his eyes, in peace this time and just as sleep was starting to overtake him.
“I won’t tell anyone.” She said, breaking him out of his slumber.
“Hm? What?”
“That Eivor Wolf-kissed isn’t made out of metal” She giggled and turned slightly to face him.
He felt his heart quicken at the sudden closeness of their faces. “What is that supposed to mean?”
“ Fear makes us human Eivor.” She smiled sweetly and looked into his eyes.
She leaned forward slowly and lingered just in front of his lips for a moment before leaning further and closing the gap between them. They kissed, softly, as if pushing too hard would cause the other to disappear. When they separated giggles and chuckles filled the room. They met once more before both of them felt the sweet sensation of sleep wash over them.

💩 Mun?🤡 My theory is that the reason Undertaker got kicked out of the Reaper HQ, is because he brought all the anachronistic stuff, from the reapers, to the human world, and created an alternate timeline to ours. That's why Ciel eg, is wearing completely wrong clothes, and why there was a phone in the first few original kuro chapters. They've slowly been working on fixing it, but occasionally Undertaker visits, just to bring back the timeline chaos. He just completely banged over everything.
Um, I think what you wanted was:
🤔 to discuss a specific theory
Sort of like the Prometheus of advanced technology?
Well, my theory isn’t the same, but it has something very striking in common with yours. Instead of him getting kicked out for “bringing anachronistic stuff” to humans, he escapes because he made a grave (pun intended) discovery about the organization. Then he brings “reaper/superior technology”... but it’s not the “anachronistic stuff” you are talking about.
In Mother3 theory, Undertaker has several character parallels.
Dr. Andonuts, the donut-loving inventor of Fascinating Chimera. He’s the only character who appears in all three games in the series, but he’s a kid (Lloyd) in Mother. He has a tendency to hide in trash cans when he’s scared (as a kid and as an adult). He sometimes offers the protagonist donuts. He’s usually helpful, but some of his Fascinating Chimera become enemies, so he’s a partial antagonist. He’s afraid of one of his own creations, the Ultimate Chimera. The king’s army uses his technology to make other types of Fascinating Chimera... including one that is the reanimated corpse of the older mirror twin brother (Claus) of the main protagonist (Lucas) in Mother3. He has a son named Fred (Mother2), who is also an inventor. He initially helps the self-proclaimed king, even before Pokey becomes King Porky, but he regrets it and eventually gets his own revenge against the king.
Nippolyte, who only appears in Mother3, is an eccentric gravedigger who has a special shovel “of the highest quality”. His house gets burned down at least 14 times because he’s a sworn enemy of the self-proclaimed king. He hands a “Courage Badge” to Lucas, the younger mirror twin... the protagonist... saying Lucas’s father (Flint) trusted him to pass it over to Lucas. It’s a family heirloom that Flint (the twins’ father) “treasures”. The item turns out to be the legendary Franklin Badge, and it ends up saving Lucas’s life... while destroying the Fascinating Chimera that his older mirror twin, Claus, had become.
George only appears in Mother, but he’s mentioned here and there later, usually in a vague way, mostly by Giygas (life form that comes from an alien race with advanced technology). George and Mary are humans who end up leaving Earth and going to live with an advanced alien civilization. George returns to Earth, bringing advanced technology with him. He continues to research it, but he also somehow manages to pass it onto future generations, as if some of the technology changed his DNA. His descendants (and possibly eventually others, through unknown means) develop special abilities that they must learn to use. These are psychic abilities that can be used as weapons. Giygas (who was raised by George and Mary) is sent back to Earth to stop George, but Giygas is too late; George has already died from old age, and the technology has started spreading through the human population. [[Interesting to note: the main psychic weapon that Lucas uses (and gets really good at) is PK Love. He uses love as his main weapon because he doesn’t really want to fight. Fascinating Chimera Claus uses some PSI attacks, too, most notably PK Flash. When he finally loses the will to fight his younger mirror twin, Claus aims a PK Flash at Lucas’s Franklin Badge, and it reflects back, destroying what’s left of Claus.]]
So, my version of “Undertaker as Prometheus” is about technology that’s reserved for either reapers or their “superiors” (angels? gods?) and using it in experiments with the goal to eventually revive the dead in the human realm. And the reaper organization wouldn’t be too happy about it, as Othello and Grelle discuss. Even though those two are just now starting to connect the dots, I think others... higher up... already know what’s afoot and want to stop him. At the same time, he’s mating with the humans and creating human-reaper hybrids — something else the reaper organization doesn’t want happening. And I still have John Brown pegged as a “superior” who has a contract with the queen, making him the parallel to Giygas... and the queen the parallel to King Porky. (Not to be confused with Soma being the parallel to Pokey Minch. It’s convoluted, but I have posts about that, too.)

5 OTPs
I was tagged by the lovely @urcadelimabean!
It’s always hard for me to say what I really ship - even when i loooove a couple in canon or fanon, reblog gifsets and fanart, find them cute and endearing and whatsnot, it doesn’t necessarily keep me up at night obsessively reading fanfics. But those ships? Hell yes they do (or did).
1. Girijasu (Giriko/Justin Law, Soul Eater)
This is my main, trashy OTP, that got me to write fanfiction in the first place. Pure, undiluted foe yay: two murderous BAMFs + hot & cold dynamic + absolute morons = the garbage I live for
2. Stony! (Steve Rogers/Tony Stark, all across the Marvel multiverse)
The source of some of the best fanfiction I’ve ever read, and boy have i read an obscene amount (also the fanart, WOW). Such a wholesome, wonderfully complimentary couple, warms my heart like no other
3. Kragdu (Kraglin Obfonteri/Yondu Udonta, Guardians of the Galaxy)
This infatuation is COMPLETELY to blame on fandom. Stupid fabulous fic writers and their excellent take on those dysfunctional, gross, dorky husbands who suck at feelings. Now the otp flames burn bright
4. Soma (Soul Evans/Maka Albarn, Soul Eater)
That’s an oldie but I’ve read so much fic for them it’s hard not to put them there. Cutie iron-willed BAMF meets loyal, snarky introvert - probably the only canon ship of the lot. Seeig them saving each other over and over deeply pleases me.
5. Blint (Billy Bones/Flint, from Black Sails)
So this is guilty guitly pleasure because I only like this ship reaaally dark and messed-up. There’s so many layers of violence, fear, vicious hatred and manipulation that can be used, boy that dynamic is good shipping material
Tagging @laylanatorseventeen, @dont-call-me-algernon, @jeans-ong-ong, @colourofinfinity and @sepulchritude if you all have time :3

17/9 Pan-Pot + Mattia Trani fanno scatenare Winter Opening @ Bolgia - Bergamo
///

The Demagogues Are Here (and They're Smarter Than Trump)
by Don Hall
As attempted coups go, that was a fucking mess.
Trump, like the anarchists and zealots he emboldened (on both sides of the horseshoe), had no other strategy than Burn it all down and see what happens. His M.O. was so incredibly transparent to anyone paying attention. First, distract and deflect from anything he couldn't lie about. Second, lie. BIG. A lot. The more truth obfuscated, the less centralized the potential for objectivity until all truth fits the postmodernist subjective reality mold. Third, use the passions and emotional immaturity of those most convinced by the lies to inflame the situation. Wind 'em up and let them go.
Granted, we have to give the man some credit. He introduced incredibly sticky terminology that will far outlast his four years in office. Fake News. "Every body knows" as a sign of evidence or proof. "Loser" has taken on an entirely enlarged importance due to Trump. While primarily the quintessential bullshit artist, the man knew exactly how to use social media in ways that have been constructive for everyone from middle school kids trying to out their classroom bullies to college students unhappy with their professors.
His use of Hitler's Big Lie technique is almost unparalleled.
So, if the man was so good at this despot thing why was his coup attempt so blatantly obvious and unsuccessful?
Ego. Trump is so in love with himself and the aura of invincibility he's created that he didn't care that it was in plain sight. He wanted it to be in plain sight so that he, and only he, would get the credit for it in the end. Hitler had a host of sidemen, each equally brilliant and despicable as he. Trump surrounded himself with sub-par bigots, industry insiders, and his moron children so that he was always the smartest person in the room.
His only real problem is that he is far from the smartest person in Washington, D.C.
The only action that will eliminate his threat to our country (or at least severely minimize it) is in the hands of the Gods of Social Media. Take away his bully pulpit and Don Jr. is the only one he reaches. Zuckerberg snapped his FB and Insta until after January 20 but he should consider it permanent if mitigating the TrumpFire is a goal. Twitter has closed him out temporarily -- should be permanent.
Yes, Trump will be a problem for us until the fatass finally clogs his heart-hole up with a Big Mac and he croaks on the shitter like Elvis but at this point, we have more insidious things to worry about.
The demagogues of 2021 have been watching. They've been fine-tuning their approach to power and are constructing their own Big Lies to spread. Unlike Trump, they aren't supposed captains of industry and have no designs on public office. They've seen the constraints of political power and know those obstacles are not the clear road to dominance.
Like Trump, they've seen the power of populism gone rogue and intend to use us against ourselves in exactly the same way. That's how Trump came to power. The Russian hackers didn't rig our election, change votes, or tamper with machinery. They hit us where we can't see it: social media propaganda. They ginned up our own hatred for one another and jacked us all up emotionally. They used our own blind faith in the authority of the internet to divide and conquer. It was nearly flawless and extremely effective.
It's easy to see the asshats who breached the Capitol as stupid morons, stealing lecterns and taking selfies but each one is you. Each one is a normal American who was victim of propaganda. Every QAnon believer has been messaged to over time until the conspiracy seems reasonable.
There has been plenty of handwringing think pieces written about the dangers of both social media and populism. Populism is not in and of itself a bad thing. It is, on its face, the ideal behind our democracy after all. Neither is social media. How could a technology that allows my mom to see pictures of my wife and I in Rhyolite, NV or David's parents see videos of his two year old son saying "Fuck" be evil? Nonetheless, the combination of the two elements create a potentially deadly mix.
As recently as this time last year when confronted with the idea that so-called hate speech should receive censorship my eyes would roll around like marbles in a coffee cup. The very concept of censorship in a marketplace of ideas is against everything I believe America to stand for yet, after watching anti-vaxxers, QAnoners, maskholes, and Donald Fucking Trump use the unlimited reach of the internet to poison that very marketplace, I have to re-examine my stance.
I have to imagine what the Third Reich would've been if Goebbels had had Faceborg and the thought is horrifying. If Hanoi Hannah had Twitter instead of the radio? Christ. These sorts of propagandists are not new. In a war, messaging to the enemy has been standard operating practice since Alexander the Great ("Great," see?) but the addition of the awesome reach of our modern-day soma is giving the Big Lies rocket fuel.
We have licenses to drive and speed limits because there are always going to be few who can't be trusted to drive responsibly. We have licenses for owning guns because a few are always going to use them criminally. Perhaps, in the argument to somehow regulate communication we require a license to Tweet? Yeah, I hear you. How dare we even consider something so legislative? The libertarians will go apeshit at the government overreach. Right now the internet is only regulated in any meaningful way by the providers. For a large enough fee, you can use it without limitation.
Perhaps the internet should be a public utility like water or electricity? Sure, you're still gonna punish black people in Flint, MI but at least there are legal remedies to that sort of bigoted grift. Whatever the answer, we need to be talking about this now. QAnon came to be via an unlicensed, anonymous jackass convincing otherwise reasonable people that there was a pedophile ring in the basement of pizza parlor in D.C. run by Hillary Clinton. That's the kind of spew one would hear from a raging lunatic digging into a trash can on a street corner wearing stuffed animals for shoes but somehow, on the internet, it suddenly seems more plausible to the gentle-minded few looking for answers to the question "What did Hillary do with those seven year olds who only wanted a slice?"
Expanding the definition of hate speech isn't going to help us. The further we go to muddy the waters of what is and is not hate speech has left us with the notion that everyone white is racist and that everyone Asian is also white. The expansion of hate speech has us somehow agreeing that a dirty joke in the wrong setting constitutes assault and that sort of thinking is just one virtue signal away from being Pizzagate.
No. The demagogues have been watching and waiting and Trump's yuge shadow merely kept the light of day off of them. He'll be out of the picture (at least as much as he'll accept it) soon enough and those Capitol-storming jack holes and Seattle-burning Antifa posers will find another power-thirsty grifter to follow like Moses did a shrub on fire.
You'll know them because their credo has no evidence for their conclusions, it centers on them as the experts, denies corroboration from science or credible expertise, and intentionally creates division and Otherism in order to maintain a foothold into the mania that is their Big Lie.
They are also smarter than Trump so their coup will be sneakier and far, far more effective.

with: open starter

Best water filters for 2018
When putting resources into a sound home, a standout amongst the most vital buys you can make is a water channel. Is separated water better for you, as well as influencing tap to water taste fresher may very well move you to remain hydrated. In light of these worries, we've refreshed our rundown of best water channels, displaying a scope of value focuses and diverse filtration techniques. Regardless of whether you're a little space tenant, a tenant, or the leader of a major water-swallowing family, there's an answer here that will work for you.
How Filters are Tested:
Particular contaminants are added to water, and once it's experienced the channel, the water is tried to decide the amount of every polluting influence is cleared out. NSF International is a trusted association that sets certain norms for judging the outcomes. When you see "NSF Standard 42," it implies that the channel goes for "stylish impacts," like expelling chlorine, which improves water taste and smell. In case you're more centered around the wellbeing impacts of filtration, search for an item that passes "NSF Standard 53," which assesses a rundown of risky debasements, similar to lead and giardia. In the event that a channel is "NSF Standard 401-confirmed," it has been appeared to evacuate follow measures of professionally prescribed medications and pesticides. Inquisitive how your ebb and flow water channel stacks up? Look for it on the NSF site.
Soma Pitcher
You'll need to keep this magnificence out on the supper table. Discharged around one year prior, this plastic pitcher with a white oak handle is a report on Soma's handleless glass carafe, making it less demanding to pour and go around the table. Fortunately, a similar plant-based channels—produced using coconut shells that are warm treated to make a profoundly permeable carbon—work for both the pitcher and the carafe models. It's confirmed for NSF principles 53 and 42, influencing the water to taste staggeringly fresh. We utilize one here in the New York office and put it under a magnifying glass each day. The decision? Record official Grace McCaffrey says, "It influences me to feel like I'm at a spa." Thank you, streamlined outline and clean-tasting tastes.
PUR Advanced Faucet Water Filter
This fixture mounted channel expels significantly more than most pitcher channels—it's NSF-confirmed to diminish more than 70 contaminants, including 99% of lead, 96% of mercury, and 92% of pesticides. Visit the NSF site for the full rundown. Due to its lead-evacuating capacities, this is one of the channels that were given to Flint, Michigan inhabitants in January 2016 in light of the water emergency. One thing to take note of: this channel deliberately does not evacuate fluoride, which you might need to consider contingent on your position on the fluoride banter about. Considering, a spigot mounted channel prevails upon the pitcher quickly, and five complete alternatives let you coordinate it to your fixture for a consistent look. On the off chance that you lean toward a versatile choice to convey to the table or the lawn, PUR additionally makes a pitcher that has been appeared to diminish lead in informal tests and was appraised the #1 pitcher by The Wirecutter.
Ovopur Origin Water Filter
Maxwell utilizes this wonderfully planned water distributor and channel at home. The egg-molded chamber is artistic and lays over a maple wood base. The natural, bended shape not just makes an alluring distributor you wouldn't fret forgetting on your kitchen counter, however it likewise helps the flow of water through the channels. The Aquacristal channel repeats the normal underground water filtration process and uses quartz precious stones and carbon to expel chemicals and natural contaminations.

Hey! I am somewhat new to 2ct and am in the midst of an obsession with Ciel - surprise, surprise - and was wondering if you could fill me in on a few things? Obviously if you can't then don't worry! 1. Is there any hints to what the earls real name is? 2. Which twin did madam red prefer? 3. Did the earl get on with Ciel? 4. What was the earl's relationship with his mother like (what he called her, their dynamic, how much time was spent together, etc.), and did Vincent actively ignore the earl?
Well, I can give you the canon facts (as best I can recall) and then give you my interpretation of it all.
1. If we assume Ciel is the name of the older twin (not the younger), and most versions of 2ct now do this (I think), then the earl must have a different given name, right? There really isn’t any specific canon evidence suggesting any one name over another. However, there are some forerunners that look promising. I’ll list my **faves** here:
I. Elic. It’s a rare name and a perfect anagram of Ciel. I’ve found two meanings for it: 1) variation on Alec/Alex, meaning “protection, defense/defender” and 2) “from the elder tree”. I like this name for a few reasons. My pet theory is how Mother3 (a game) is the basic framework of the manga series. The twins in that game are Claus and Lucas; these are anagrams, and even their parents discuss how they named the older twin first and made an anagram to name the younger. Mother3 has a character named Alec (their maternal grandfather), and Black Butler has Alexis (an uncle) – their personalities and plot roles are very similar.
II. Luce. (Sounds like loose.) It’s a *near* anagram; just replace the “i” with a “u”, and it means “light, star”. In Mother3 you have Claus (“people’s victory”) and Lucas (also “light, star”), so if Yana-san doesn’t use a perfect anagram, she could have a four-letter “C” name (Ciel) and a four-letter “L” name, like Luce. Luka would be nice, but that’s already the name of the younger brother to Alois/Jim in season two of the anime. Since the non-canon materials (anime, etc.) are like AU spoilers, a name similar to Luka is entirely possible, like Luce or Luke. There is also more reason to use names that are similar to Mother3 characters; I mean… Mother3 does have Claus, and the Black Butler character who hands the earl the game “Mouse3” is named Chlaus (Klaus in some translations).
III. Eric. Again a near-anagram; it just replaces the “L” with an “R”, and the Japanese often change “L” into “R” for pronunciation. Means “to rule forever”. Sounds good for someone who wears a ring with a motto roughly meaning “the power to rule”, doesn’t it? Problem is, this name has already been used in Kuromyu2. Eric and Alan were essentially accepted into canon in a single panel of the manga. However, the manga never mentions their names. Could get a variation, like Erik. Same meaning.
IV. Lune. Meaning “moon”, I’ve recently added this to my list. Only a half-anagram, but the earl has been referred to as the moon by Sebastian and Baron Kelvin. Soma is the name of the Hindu moon god. London means “fortress of the moon”…. I felt that I had to add it to my list for these reasons.
Those are my personal top four name ideas. Other popular names floating around are longer versions of Luce, like Lucien… or other names for “star, light”, like Aster. Still others have considered names for “sun”, “earth”, or “moon”.
2. I don’t know that Madam Red had a favorite, but she probably spent more time with the earl, since he was often ill, and she would treat his asthma attacks.
3. I can’t say they always agreed with each other, but they clung to each other in that cage, and real Ciel wanted to protect his younger twin. It’s also hinted at that they spent a lot of time playing games of chess against each other, since the earl was often kept inside (due to his health).
4. Since Rachel and the earl shared the same health issues (and because he’s the younger of the twins), the earl probably gravitated towards his mother… and vice versa. I don’t know about any nicknames between the two, but they probably spent a lot of time together and might have created some for each other. In Mother3, Hinawa also seems to favor her younger son, Lucas. In the biblical story of Esau and Jacob, their mother prefers Jacob, the younger twin; she even helps him trick his father.
5. Similarly, there is only circumstantial evidence to suggest that Vincent favors Ciel, like calling and referring to him by name but only calling the earl "this one" or "my son". In Mother3, Flint obviously favors the older twin, Claus. In that story of Esau and Jacob, the father clearly wants his older twin son to inherit and rule. Esau gives up/sells his birthright to Jacob but later tries to reclaim it. However, Jacob proves to be the better leader.
Thanks for the ask!

Fav fanfic authors rec list!
In honor of fanfic writer appreciation day, here’s me gushing about some of my favorite fanfic authors of different fandoms. So much amazing talent out there, I feel so awed and honored to have discovered such good writers!! A lot of the fics I came across put published best-sellers to shame.
Here we go!
Marvel Cinematic Universe
I read an incredible amount of Stony (Tony Stark/Steve Rogers) fanfiction a while back, and it’s the gift that keeps on giving, super talented writers that produce metric tons of content without it growing boring. Some favorites:
FestiveFerret (@festiveferret): Steadily working their way through every gorgeous trope, and producing an impressive amount of high-quality fics of all length and kind as a result - fun, hot, brilliant stories that are compulsively readable and full of vibrant details. Hard to chose favorites, but Lost Together and Deafening Quiet, Silent Roar are frankly so excellent I can’t not name them here.
OrbingArrow (@orbingarrow): While their stories have a great style, awesome characterization, super cool sense of detail and of humor, the reason I particularly love Arrow is their focus on hope and recovery. Stories that helped me in rough times, and genuinely make me want to get better. For example, Good for you! So grateful for these fics.
sabrecmc (@sabrecmc): I will make the bold assumption that everyone in the Stony fandom has heard of sabrecmc; they are one of the Big, Big Name Fans. And there’s a reason for that: extremely unique, rich, deep, gorgeous fics that make you weep or scream into your pillow, or melt into a puddle at the glorious smut. Just...wow. (Also, genuinely awesome kind person online!)
AvocadoLove (@awesomeavocadolove): writes quick paced, thrilling, extremely readable fics with fantastic plots and characterization. Doesn’t get boring a single second. Some of my favorites include Enemy at the Gates and Prisoner’s Dilemma
Then comes Write_Like_An_American (@write-like-an-american), who writes for the Guardians of the Galaxy fandom, centered around Yondu Udonta. I have the BIGGEST CRUSH on their writing, it’s just...so fun, so real and fleshed-out! I love sci-fi and pirates, so it’s obviously my kind of content, but seriously, they would make me love everything they write. Lots of mature themes and reflections around abuse and recovery, + doesn’t shy away from nasty and gross aspects (fair warning, big amount of kink and gore). I love pretty much everything they write, but Blame It On The Stars and No Son of Mine seriously blew me away.
Harry Potter
Considering that I read more fanfics for Harry Potter than for any other fandom, this list is painfully short; but back then I was a completely passive consumer and barely took notice of the writers behind the stories I devoured. Also didn’t bookmark those I liked :/
justonemorefic (@oddhour) is thankfully an exception. etc. etc. (and life goes on) is one of my favorite stories in general, a next-gen fic centered around an incredible OC - hilarious, heart-breaking, analytical, lyrical writing that seriously blew my mind. I still catch myself giggling when I remember some scenes.
Soul Eater
aka the fandom I write for :D again there’s so many great authors and fics I didn’t bookmark, but I pledge to do better in the future.
tastewithouttalent (@tastewithouttalent): has an incredible, absolutely unique style of writing. In their capable hands, words are woven to an amazingly sensual, intense tapestry of sensations. Writes mostly PWPs, but seriously, it’s pure poetry (and also HOT, damn). Got me started on my trashy OTP, Giriko/Justin Law, and I reread all of their work for them on a truly embarassing basis, but Air and Capable are two of my favorites (and I would give a limb for a prequel to that one Psycho-Pass AU).
adulter_clavis (@adulterclavis): champion of crazy AUs, this author made me laugh so hard I cried. Several times. Has the baffling ability to twist the characters into something slightly more weird and dark and still keep them absolutely IC. Absolutely hilarious banter and situations, genuine comedy gold; Heistception is probably my favorite.
raining-down-hearts (on fanfiction.net) has written a SoMa fic I remember devouring at incredible speed, The Cost of Lamentations. Sad and brainy and well-tought through.
LueurdeLaube (@i-am-thesenate) has a very fun, elegant writing style. Writes SoMa, Red Silk is a big favorite.
Black Sails
I am absolutely obsessed with Black Sails as of late, but still weirdly reluctant to read fanfic for it. Maybe a part of me thinks I have to rewatch it and let it settle a bit more before fully exploring possibilities. Still, I’ve read a fair amount of shippy stuff and of smut, here are some favs:
arbitrarily (@widespindriftgaze) has written two EXCELLENT Flint/Billy hatesex fics (the men are called horsemen there and skeleton tree) that feel like a punch of the gut on each reread. Very painful, much good.
youatemytailor (@annevbonny) has...such a powerful style...and writes Silver with almost frightening accuracy. lost on you made my heart clench and ache
urcadelimabean (@urcadelimabean) writes super sweet, smutty fics and has written the pegging fics this fandom desperately needs (yours, always and anything for your queen)!
Vorkosigan Saga (book series by Lois McMaster Bujold)
Since I’m only halfway through the saga, there’s a lot of fanfics I can’t read in order not to spoiler myself, but luckily for me, there’s tons of amazing stories on the earlier timelines while I wait to get the other books.
Phylomytha is ... probably McMaster Bujold in disguise. At least that would explain why their style aligns so flawlessly with that of the author, and why every! single! fic!!! feels like a deleted chapter/scene from the books. Writes a lot of short one-shots which flesh out the universe and make me appreciate it so much more. Just...wow. Aral Vorkosigan’s Dog is a longer one exploring the POV of a minor character, and I loved it so much.
Dira Sudis (@dsudis) writes heart-achingly tender fics, while staying wonderfully true to the characters. A big favorite is Frequently Suggested Sexual Practices: An Aid to Communication.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Ah, I remember the good innocent times when the only things I associated with A:TLA were cute gen fics. But alas, the kink always finds me (maybe because I’m always searching for it, heh).
DracoMaleficium (@dracze) writes awesome, kinky stuff around Jee/Zuko, mostly AUs. Incredibly rich, sensory, readable writing style.
Nele (@fanjapanologist) also writes Jeeko, and adds tons of super elegant and good worldbuilding. I absolutely adore the fics they wrote.
attackfish (@attackfish) writes very psychological, often very dark gen fics which have super competent worldbuilding (and prominently feature Mai, which - GOOD). Until the Walls Break Like Waves had me gripping my seat - a very unsettling, extremely well-written fic.
and finally:
Brokeback Mountain
I absolutely had to include cathalin ( @cathalins) since they wrote Dreaming, a fanfic that made me genuinely bawl my eyes out. All of their fics are incredible though, just feel TRUE and IMPORTANT and I’m already half-crying just thinking about that fic (crying in the good ways, btw, it’s a fix-it). Can’t possibly recommend that fic enough.
Hope you will find something to like in my rec list!!

Best restaurants in Arkansas 2019
Our readers pick the best.
The readers of the Arkansas Times have once again pushed their plates away, belched politely and named the best restaurants, chefs and dishes and other categorical superlatives for our Readers Choice issue. They sent in their nominations, we added them up and the Times, trusting in their palates, now serve up the results for your dining pleasure.
For the second year in row, readers named Petit & Keet in West Little Rock the top restaurant and gave it the best wine list award, too. The "around the state" winner for overall best was DeLuca's Pizzeria Napoletano in Hot Springs, inspiring our feature on the face of pie in the Spa City.
Scott McGehee (of Big Orange, Heights Taco & Tamale and more) added to his many Readers Choice trophies with another best chef nod. Dos Rocas, the Mexican street food and bar in SoMa, won best new restaurant in Little Rock; read more about the restaurant in a feature here.
Along with eatery and chef winners, you'll find here a list of the places our readers say you should give a shot when you've got a hankering for baked goods, barbecue, brunch, buffet, burgers and beyond.
