Solavellan Recommended Reading

I made a post like this for SilverV a million years ago and wanted to make one for Solavellan as well!

A few of these fics overlap with the ones I have linked in my current pinned post, but there are soooo many fantastic Solavellan fics out there that I decided to make a longer rec post so I could include more of them!!!

Without further ado, here are some of my favorites, in no particular order. Some of them are one-shots or shorter multi chapter fics, and some of them are massive long fics and everything in between. Some of them are new and still in progress, some of them are completed, and a handful of them are older fics. All of them are absolutely worth your time!

walk you to the shore - Scaryanne A beautifully written post-Veilguard one-shot about Solas and Lavellan having it all out in the Fade. Highly recommend!

the sun to burn - Pip (Moirail) An Inquisition re-write that goes off canon and does a phenomenal job at exploring a ton of aspects of the lore and story. Features fantastic character writing and takes really thought-provoking directions with the lore!

love is not a victory march - Brunchatthebookstore A Veilguard retelling where Lavellan is present at the ritual at the beginning that goes off book from there. It's beautifully, heartbreakingly written and off to a REALLY strong start with some truly devastating moments, so this one is absolutely one to watch.

miles below the surface of the dawn - thefirstaidkit This fic is one of the most beautiful things I have ever read, period. On its face it's just 6 chapters of "there was only one bed" Inquisition-era Solavellan smut, but I stg the writer was channeling the spirit of Solas Dragon Age himself because it is the most perfect Solavellan smut I can imagine. Read this one, just trust me.

Martyr - existential_naptime If you like Solavellan angst, this one delivers in spades!!! It's set during Veilguard and explores what would happen if the Evanuris kidnapped the Inquisitor (and more specifically, how Solas would react). It is DELICIOUS and also extremely painful but well worth it!

Requited - cursedhag A beautifully written, pitch perfect Inquisition rewrite that fully checks all the boxes! Features a lot of excellent Solas POV that incorporates all the new lore reveals we learned in Veilguard. Do yourself a favor and read this!!!!

rook wins in the end - wiltedartist A great exploration of Rook's relationship with Solas in Veilguard. Solavellan, but focuses on the one-sided unrequited feelings that Rook develops for Solas. Really interesting angle that I haven't seen done better.

And Yet - say_lene Beautiful Inquisition-era Solavellan one-shot. All of this writer's fics are so beautiful and well-written, so I kind of picked this one randomly but ALL of their Dragon Age fics are worth reading. We stan a good smut character study!!!!!

In the Colours of Your Regrets - scribeofmorpheus Another excellent smut character study! Solas sadly jorkin' it in the Lighthouse to his own sad murals of his wife. 11/10 no notes.

Roses Where Thorns Grow - Bdafic This one explores what would have happened if, after Crestwood, Lavellan learned the truth about Solas and they rekindled their relationship. It's a beautiful story that stays true to character and explores some of their messier and more complicated relationship dynamics.

Servitude - niceasspavus Another really, really solid Inquisition rewrite that explores Solas and Lavellan's romance. Well-written with excellent details and characterization. Highly recommend all of this writer's other fics, as well.

These Hands, If Not Gods - Gefionne An AU where a pre-Inquisition Lavellan accidentally discovers an eluvian that lets Arlathan-era Solas time travel to her. Beautifully written smut and character development. AUs aren't often my thing, but this one is absolutely worth your time.

Looking Glass - Feynite This one is theee classic Solavellan fic and probably needs no introduction. It's a time travel Arlathan AU, and it still holds up even after all these years, even unfinished. If you haven't read this one yet, stop whatever you're doing right now and fix that.

Wildest Dreams - elf_trash Finally, this one is mine!!! It's a retelling of Veilguard with Lavellan as the protagonist (aka Lavellan IS Rook) that focuses on her complicated relationship with Solas. Starts near the end of Inquisition and will continue through Veilguard and slightly beyond. I plan on reincorporating a lot of scrapped ideas from Joplin.

This list is in no way comprehensive, as a) there are sooo many good ones and b) I haven't read everything (yet lolol), so please feel free to reblog this and add your favorites!!!

Solavellan fic recs please I’m so hungry 🥺🥺

oh I'd love to provide! these have been my personal favorites so far (also fair warning, I am a solavellan fucked in DAI truther and that is reflected in my choices below so your mileage may vary)

Everything by niceasspavus - especially their fic Servitude which is an absolute masterwork. The prose is succinct but spectacular, the smut is excellent and never feels out of place (smut sometimes can with solavellan okay) and they dig into Solas' mind in a really beautiful way. They also started a modern AU fic and while that's not usually my trope at all, I've actually read what they have posted so far like three times because it's so good. Can't wait to see if they grace us with more.

Fellchaser by @rosieofcorona - Okay make that literally anything Darcy touches I recommend but Fellchaser is...I want to plaster my walls with it. The walls of my mind prison at least. The first time I read it, I literally read it five times back to back to back (I was admittedly very high but that's NOT THE POINT) because I was so taken with the prose and every detail. It is absolute perfection, seriously, the only thing wrong with it is that it isn't 100k words

What He Wouldn't Give by sugarhihello - a devastating take what happens immediately after the Crestwood scene we know and hate to love. I'm scared of writers who can make me want more of a scene like that and yet this fic gives me that

A Field as Wild as Your Heart by lillith_morgana - An exceptional take on the solavellan ending/post-DAV with gorgeous prose

Dreadful Recollections by @scaryanneee - if you know me from the bg3 era at all, you know Think of Me is a smut of all time so scaryanne joining us in solavellan hell has been SO FUN (for me personally at least eheheh) This little smut is so brilliant because it truly gave me so many ideas to play with for my own ship during this time period while also being so hot??? Also just read the tags on this and you know you're in for a great time

Handle With Care by feynite - I'm sure you've seen feynite if you've looked at solavellan fics because Looking Glass is the biggest one but I think this is just a really excellent little fic of theirs. Sad AND sexy - what every Solas fan is looking for I think

📚What I'm Reading These Days📚

A to Zenith by @allofthebarks (Solas x Female Lavellan): For my fellow Solavellan hell-dwellers, my bestie has refused to let the end of Solas and Lavellan's story get in the way of her delivering sweet, sexy angst and pining over a decade later. HELL YEAH. She's going to fuck us up emotionally 26 times, and I am ✨here✨ for it. Our friendship was built on a foundation of jointly authoring unhinged InuYasha fanfic when we were 14, she was my maid of honour, and our FFXIV characters are married, so I can very personally vouch for the quality of her work.

Sonnet of the Lone Cardinal by @brain-rot-central (Ascended Astarion x Female Durge): Set post BG3. I've been absolutely entranced by this beautiful Dead Dove all year. It's so breathtakingly fucked up and disturbing. The chilling, deeply seated tension that the writer is capable of cobbling together in your gut with each chapter is nothing short of impressive. This isn't in-your-face, no punches pulled sort of depravity: it's slow burning nightmare fuel tempered with absolutely gorgeous angst, evocative characterization, and the never-ending feeling that something absolutely fucking terrible is about to happen.

Herbarium by @emmg (Emmrich Volkarin x Female Rook): COME AND GET IT EMMROOK FANS - I literally can't even with this. Somehow @emmg manages to capture the Gentleman Necromancer in all of his dorky, yapping glory, making me laugh my absolute ass off and then like... three lines later dives into the fucked up inner workings of his brain and all of it's trauma soaked angst and self-loathing and self-denial in a way that actually boggles my mind. Like it's sooooo fucking good. Rook is a fucking turbo-babe and I love her. The smut is absolutely top notch, and if you're not reading this, you're missing out, so do yourself a favour and make it happen.

Indelible Imprints by @preciouslittlebhaalbae (Astarion x Female Tav): Isekai fics are usually a tough sell for me, but @preciouslittlebhaalbae pulls it off so well with her OC, Erin, and I'm so glad I finally got a chance to get caught up on Chapter 14 recently. This is a really lovely, wholesome Astarion-centric romance with softness, pining, sweetness, spiciness and hilarity in equal measure. We're not afraid to get dark either, which really does it for me. Definitely check this out - it's amazingly written, and seeing Erin's dynamic develop with all of the Tadfools is so thoughtfully and pragmatically done. Writer also has impeccable music taste. 11/10, no notes.

I used to read a lot of solavellan fics back in ~2018 so I'm not superrrr familiar with the more recent ones. I do have a short list of my faves off the top of my head though!

A certified classic. A staple in this household if you will. Sometimes quotes from this fic play in my head randomly — that's how good it is.

In the Blue Morning and Fellchaser by @rosieofcorona

The SOFTEST of soft fics out there oh my god. My heart wrenches whenever I read these (in the best way). They have the perfect amount of romance and tragedy laced in every word.

I read this one most recently after my playthrough of veilguard and it's so so good! I love pathetic wet men and this handles Solas so well. I also really enjoyed how Lavellan has more agency here.

Mumms do you know of any fics where inqui lavellan gets sent back in time to the times of arlathan? So far I've found one but it was before lavellan was the inqui 😔

My original answer was that no, I don't know of any but then I was like....I'm a master at googling and research. I can FIND some.

So I went down a rabbit hole of procrastinating stuff I'm supposed to do and instead scanned AO3 works tagged "ancient arlathan" and I found a few fics that seem to have both Ancient Arlathan and Time Travel. Idk if they’re exactly what you’re looking for and I haven't read any of them because the deadlines are deadlining me rn (some may be AWESOME, some may not be your vibe) but I figured I’d link them anyway!

my notes: ao3 summary is a bit vague but this fic is about a post-DAI Inquisitor who gets tossed back into Ancient Arlathan times. easily the longest fic on the list and the stats show that it is VERY popular. even a quick scan has me intrigued!

Sulena Nadas'din - In the wake of Corypheus’ defeat, Ellana Lavellan is given no chance to celebrate her victory for the orb Solas sought lay broken at their feet and the man vanished from her view… Before she, too, vanished from the Inquisition’s sights. When she awoke, she found herself in a strange time, where castles float in the skies, and gods roam the land. She has fallen into the hands of the Dread Wolf who wears the mask of Pride, and must find a way to win his favor to make her way home. If only it were so simple.

my notes: another fic with promising stats, it's unfinished but the writer posted an update a couple of months ago saying they're interested in finishing it now that veilguard is out! if you love it, send them some encouragement!

Longing for Home - A fic where Lavellan has found herself traveling through time and becoming an agent of the Dread Wolf's rebellion . . . Lavellan, Seren, accidentally travels to ancient Arlathan and joins the rebellion in an attempt to find her way back to her time . . . intended to be a bit of a reversal of the solavellan dynamic in Inquisition - with Seren having a secret she's hiding while she finds herself teaching the young Wolf about leadership - as well as Seren befriending some nobodies and turning them into rebels worthy of the Dread Wolf's cause.

my notes: this is the newest fic out of the list and only one chapter, but it seemed interesting to me! they said they have a longfic of more sooo...maybe they need some encouragement? :)

Din'Lathsuledin - On the heels of the Dread Wolf, Pellam Lavellan is pulled once more through time and space unknown, into powers beyond imagination; Ancient Arlathan and the reign of Elvhen magic. Sundered from the Fade and marked by Fen'Harel, she must learn to survive the deadly Evanuris and return to her time without destroying the future in the process.

my notes: a 2024 fic, so it's pretty recent! also probably the smuttiest option on the list; if you love it, encourage the writer to keep going!

OLDER FICS

Facing the Wolf - AU Prompt Fic. A mishap with an ancient artifact sends Isii through a portal, dropping her into a time and place that is completely foreign to her. At first she is happy to see that Solas is there with her... until she realizes it isn't Solas.

my notes: I vaaaaguely remember seeing this writer circulating back in the day (this fic is 2015) so I grabbed this one for you. The writer has also linked out to another time travel Ancient Arlathan fic called "Wolf's Den" that may also be of interest?

Only Time Will Tell - At Redcliffe instead of Dorian and the Inquisitor being thrown forward in time, it's just the Inquisitor... And instead of going forward in time, she goes back. A LONG way back. Back to the time of the ancient elves, before Arlathan fell and the gods were locked away. Possibly before the elves even really knew of humans as anything more than primitive creatures on far-off shores. But in this strange, beautiful and cruel world of her ancestors she sees one familiar face, except his name is Fen'Harel.

Making Fen'Harel - An AU in which Rihari Lavellan accidentally stumbles into Ancient Arlathan. Mistaken as a slave, she desperately looks for a way back to her own time. Until she meets a familiar man.

The Past is the Past - After the Temple of Mythal, Soora is left in pain and confusion as the Well of Sorrow is swimming in her mind. The night after the Well of Sorrows, the voices wake her up and force her into Morrigan's Eluvian and into ancient Arlathan. Waking up with Fen'Harel and Mythal standing over her, she starts to realize how right Solas was.

my notes: part of a series, I think this part is all the ancient arlathan stuff while another fic in the series is when they get back to the present day

The Wolf Has Your Scent - A strange rift north of Kirkwall sends Solas and the Inquisitor back through the ages to a time when gods roamed the earth. Forced to work together so soon after their parting hurts them both, but they must work through their differences to get home. Only things go awry when Fen'Harel recognizes the magic pooled in her palm.

my notes: Unfinished, alas, but the description is intriguing. Post-breakup time travel for you?

Temporal Arrangements - A strange object sends Solas and Iwyn Lavellan back in time, right into a situation neither can control. Raw and emotional from their recent breakup, they have to pretend to date to avoid raising suspicion, and work together to find a way back home.

my notes: Similar to the last one, but this one IS finished.

Perennial Dues - In this day and age, she's nothing special to him. Nothing other than a shemlen, even though his people have yet to come up with the term. She had been unique to him once, but today, the god is surrounded by his people. People that share his ideals and way of life. People worthy of his time and affection. Better people than her, in his eyes . . . The hard reality of their wasted bond catches up with her, stabbing her in the heart and twisting the knife for good measure.

my notes: okay this one is human Trevelyan/Solas instead of Lavellan, but if you're looking for inspiration, it may still be worth a read?? the summary isn't very helpful but from what I can tell she was trying to time travel back to a DAI date and overshot into ancient arlathan. oops!

Constant Stars - Inquisitor Lavellan and Dorian are on a mission to take down Venatori when they are magically transported to the ancient past. Elves rule this world without a Veil and they find that a rebel leader wears a familiar face. Takes place post-Inquisition but pre-Trespasser.

Lord Fen'Harel's arrival created the sort of silence that rippled outward like a stone dropped in still water. Conversations faltered mid-word, dancers missed their steps, and even the music from the band seemed to fade in submission of his presence. 

He moved through the crowd with measured grace, each step deliberate as if stalking prey even though his days of hunting enemy soldiers had ended. Ellana’s eyes went to his face first, to his hair, where the sides were  shaved close, exposing the sharp angles of his skull and the pale curve of his pointed ears, a contrast to the long, sleek cascade that fell down his back. It was a style that eschewed vanity, instead emphasizing the harsh symmetry of his face—the severe cheekbones, the narrow bridge of his nose, and the slight downward tilt of his mouth. Then, her gaze trailed lower, to his clothing. The Viscount’s formal attire, impeccably tailored in shades of deepest green and black, made most other gentlemen's clothes look garish by comparison. No ornate embroidery or excessive decoration—just clean lines that emphasized his tall, lean frame and the aristocratic tilt of his head. There were no gilded embellishments, no embroidery to flaunt wealth, and there was no need: 

Viscount Fen’Harel had commanded legions on the battlefield in chaos, he would command the same awe here through understated silence.

"Well," Dorian murmured beside her, "he certainly knows how to make an entrance. Though I must say, he seems in an particularly stern mood tonight. I do hope you've considered your approach carefully, my dear."

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Ellana's fingers tightened on her evening bag, the documents inside suddenly feeling both inadequate and absolutely essential. "Though you sound concerned, Lord Pavus."

"Concerned? No, no—fascinated, perhaps. Intrigued, certainly." His smile held a hint of warning beneath its charm. "It's not often someone willingly seeks to bait the wolf in his own den. Though I suppose if anyone could manage it with grace, it would be you."

Before she could respond, Countess Mythal appeared at Lord Fen'Harel's side, every inch the gracious hostess in elaborate silver silk that caught the light like moonlight. Even from across the room, Ellana could see the family resemblance between aunt and nephew—the same aristocratic bearing, the same ability to command attention without seeming to seek it.

"How fortunate," Dorian commented, watching the pair with sharp interest. "Countess Mythal always does enjoy a bit of drama at her gatherings so long it is not at her own expense. Though I doubt even she expects quite the entertainment you're planning to provide."

Ellana straightened her spine, summoning every lesson in deportment she'd ever learned. "What makes you so certain I'm planning anything at all?"

"My dear Lady Lavellan," Dorian's voice held genuine amusement now, "no one, especially a Lady, carries a portfolio of documents to a ball unless they intend to cause absolute chaos with whatever is inside them. It's simply not done in polite society." He raised his glass in a small salute. "Needless to say, I heartily approve.”

Across the ballroom, Lord Fen'Harel was now engaged in what appeared to be a serious discussion with several council members. Even from this distance, Ellana could see how others deferred to him, creating a subtle but clear circle of space around his tall figure. A young debutante attempted to catch his eye and was summarily dismissed with a mere glance.

"Ah, poor Lady Rosewood," Dorian commented, following Ellana's gaze. "Third attempt this season to gain his attention. Though I must say, she lasted longer than most before wilting under that particular look."

"Does he always affect such disdain for company he considers beneath him?" Ellana asked, unable to keep the edge from her voice.

"Oh no, not at all." Dorian's smile held a hint of mischief. "Sometimes he's much worse. Though I should warn you—" He paused, dark eyes glinting with sudden interest as he noticed something over her shoulder. "Ah. Speaking of warnings..."

"Lady Lavellan." The voice behind her carried the crisp authority of someone unused to being ignored. "How... unexpected to see you here."

Ellana turned to find herself face to face with Commander Cassandra Pentaghast, her formal uniform making her seem even more imposing than usual. The Commander of the City Guard rarely attended social functions, preferring her duties to society's games. Her presence tonight suggested more than casual interest.

"Commander." Ellana dipped into a slight curtsey. "I wasn't aware the City Guard took such interest in social gatherings."

"We take interest in anything that might disturb the peace." Cassandra's direct gaze left no doubt about her meaning. 

"Particularly when certain parties seem intent on causing... disruptions."

"I'm sure I don't know what you mean," Ellana replied smoothly, though her fingers tightened on her evening bag. "I'm merely here to enjoy the hospitality of Countess Mythal's renowned gathering."

"Of course." Cassandra's tone suggested she believed this about as much as she believed in flying nugs. "Then you won't mind if I—"

"Seeker Pentaghast!" Dorian interrupted with perfectly calculated enthusiasm. "I've been meaning to ask your opinion on that fascinating report about the new harbor patrols. Perhaps you'd care to discuss it over here?" He gestured toward a less crowded corner of the room, smoothly inserting himself between Ellana and the Commander.

Cassandra's eyes narrowed, but something in Dorian's expression must have given her pause. "Very well, Lord Pavus. Though we will continue this conversation later, Lady Lavellan."

As Dorian led the Commander away, he glanced back at Ellana with a slight nod toward the opposite side of the room, where Lord Fen'Harel had moved away from his admirers and now stood somewhat apart, studying the dancers with apparent disinterest.

The message was clear: If she meant to confront him, now was her chance.

Ellana took a steadying breath, touching her mother's pendant for courage before making her way across the ballroom. Each step brought her closer to Lord Fen'Harel, the rustle of her silk skirts marking time with her heartbeat. He stood alone now, a glass of wine untouched in his hand as he observed the dancing with apparent disinterest. Up close, his presence was even more imposing—something in his bearing suggested barely leashed power, like a storm contained in crystal.

"Viscount Fen'Harel." Her curtsey was precise, measured to the exact depth appropriate for their relative stations - deep enough to show respect, but not so deep as to suggest submission. "I believe we haven't been formally introduced. I am—"

"Lady Lavellan." He continued studying the dancers, as though the act of turning to face her fully would be beneath his dignity. His voice carried the crisp authority of someone unused to being questioned, each word precisely measured. "Your reputation precedes you."

Something in his tone suggested this was not entirely a compliment. Ellana felt heat rise in her cheeks but kept her spine straight, her chin lifted. Let him dismiss her if he wished—she had not come this far to be deterred by cold manners and colder eyes.

"How fascinating." She allowed just a hint of steel to enter her own voice. "I wasn't aware I had garnered enough notice to warrant a reputation. Though perhaps you're referring to the impact your latest trade proposals will have on traditional merchants? That would certainly explain your reluctance to acknowledge me directly."

Now he did turn, fixing her with a gaze that had made lesser nobles stumble over their own excuses. The full force of his attention was like standing too close to a storm—crackling with barely leashed power and the promise of imminent destruction.

"You presume much," he said softly, dangerously, "to question policies you barely comprehend. Though I suppose that's something of a tradition among your people.”

" My people?" Ellana's fingers tightened on her evening bag. "You and I are both elvhen, my lord. Or have you forgotten that in your rush to destroy centuries of shared heritage?"

Something dangerous flickered in his eyes. "Heritage," he said, the word precise as a blade, "is not synonymous with progress. Though I realize not all are capable appreciating the distinction."

Around them, other guests had begun to notice their exchange. Conversations quieted as nobles shifted to better observe what promised to be the evening's most interesting entertainment. Ellana was acutely aware of the growing attention, but she pressed on... You can read the rest on AO3! :)

Im still waiting for a solavellan fic where lavellan dies, no comfort,no good ending, just her dying in cold blood because of one of solas' mistakes, i want that old white man to suffer his consequences by losing his wife after telling him that everythings going to be okay and is still a miserable peace of shit until lavellan finally dies after warning him about something that got her killed,then he finally realized his mistake but it was too late and now he has to mourn and sit with that burden for eternity.

SilverV and Solavellan Fic Recs

It's been a minute, so I wanted to make a new sticky post where I link my own writing and also recommend some of my all-time favorite multi-chapter SilverV and Solavellan fics.

Highly recommend checking all of these out, as well these authors' other work! I swear to god, both of these ships attract the most insanely talented writers on the planet. I am constantly so impressed with and in awe of the stuff I've read!

First off, here are my two main long fics:

SilverV:

The Rebel Path - elf_trash Follows the story of Johnny and V's extremely messy relationship through the game and beyond. It stays close to canon but includes a rewrite of the endings and a fix-it, and also features a Kerry/V romance arc. Very angsty, you've been warned!

Solavellan:

Wildest Dreams - elf_trash A retelling of Veilguard with Lavellan as the protagonist (aka Lavellan IS Rook) that focuses on her complicated relationship with Solas. Starts near the end of Inquisition and continues through Veilguard and slightly beyond. Uses a lot of scrapped ideas from Joplin.

And here are some of my current and all-time favorites from each fandom! I limited myself to three for each ship (so this list is in no way exhaustive), and have listed them below in no particular order.

SilverV:

cut loose (before it gets late) - cherrykiss Literally cannot recommend this one highly enough!!!! Set post-game, Johnny has his body back, but V is still dying. It's about Johnny and V getting together and is wonderfully painful and incredibly fun. Read this one, you will NOT regret it.

Smoke and Retribution - madelinek Another one of my absolute favorites. This one is an AU where V is a popular musician during the same years as Samurai, and she enlists Johnny's help in getting out of her record deal with Arasaka. Fun, heartbreaking, and spicy!

Can You Feel The Sun? - heartofsnark This one follows the story of the game and features a V named Aidan, the author's deaf OC. Top tier Johnny banter and dialogue in this one, and it features a super unique and fleshed out OC if that's your thing!

Solavellan:

Requited - cursedhag A beautifully written, pitch perfect Inquisition rewrite that fully checks all the boxes! Features a lot of excellent Solas' POV that incorporates all the new lore reveals we learned in Veilguard. Do yourself a favor and read this!!!!

miles below the surface of the dawn - thefirstaidkit This fic is one of the most beautiful things I have ever read, period. On its face it's just 6 chapters of "there was only one bed" Inquisition-era Solavellan smut, but I stg the writer was channeling the spirit of Solas Dragon Age himself because it is the most perfect Solavellan smut I can imagine. Read this one, just trust me.

Martyr - existential_naptime If you like Solavellan angst, this one delivers in spades!!! It's set during Veilguard and explores what would happen if the Evanuris kidnapped the Inquisitor (and more specifically, how Solas would react). It is DELICIOUS and also extremely painful but well worth it!

Do yourself a favor and read these you won't regret it!!!

Female Lavellan & Dorian Pavus, Female Lavellan/Solas | G | 5116 words | Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Summary: Women like Lavellan are dangerous. Women like her topple entire nations out of the goodness of their hearts.

For all your angst-ridden "Dorian & Lavellan deal with the mess of the world and everything that happened with Solavellan post-Trespasser" needs, look no further. It's a bit of a character study for both Lavellan and Dorian, and it highlights how messy good decisions can turn in the right (worst) circumstances. The story packs a gut-punch at every turn and the Dorian & Lavellan friendship is heartwrenching and authentic to both their characters and the trials and tribulations they shared throughout and beyond Inquisition. Solas haunts every corner of the narrative and the implications of that had me chewing on this story long after I actually finished reading it.

Benevolence: starts as a solas character study specifically through the solythal lens and then shifts to solavellan but just so beautifully written in general, high recommend

Even Gods Need Miracles: gorgeous and shifts from DAI to the end of DAV and is just written so succinctly - like every line is so perfect and crisp, no line overdone? i want to eat it

Schooling Pride: listen i know in the first rec list i said i wasn't a modern AU person and that's still true but something about fun texting in fics just...gets me. and good smut. this one has both. though tbh i did find it to lose a bit of steam toward the end but that was just me! the first 34 chapters i devoured in like two sittings

it is not perfect,: this is for if you want to Hurt Real Bad but goddamn did @mythalism do the damn thing when she wrote it...

Second Chances: what if they stepped through the rift at the end of DAV and ended up at the start of DAI?? @elfbotanist will tell you SO BEAUTIFULLY

versus specifically smut:

The Herald in Nude Repose: @scaryanneee showed me this today and my vision went white with lust momentarily

Bonfire: much more wholesome but still smutty and yet tender and wonderful all the same - insane this is a first time smut adventure for @neonravengames because they are such a natural (and so wonderful)

Studies: virginity loss fic (not usually my taste tbh) and also dirty talking solas is usually not my taste but MMMMM the way this is writtten...and teh solas POV....and literally everything..tasteeey

walk you to the shore: speaking of scaryanne....the queen does it again...the most tender eternal fuck heaven fic to hit the market since DAV's release

- 1. The Lovers

After defeating the Rak'tika Lightwarden, Warrior of Light (& Darkness) finds time to teleport back to the source, yearning to see her lover again. Tansui is more than happy to see her again, and their need for each other is undeniable. However, after they come together, something weighs on Tansui's mind

This is one of my most recent fics, and I really love exploring both Meryta's and Tansui's POV in this one. I struggled getting it to where I wanted, but I'm so happy with where it ended up and some of the nuances I was able to get in here.

- 1.5 Passing Through

Warrior of Light Meryta Khatin, while helping Genbu with the Four Lords passes through Onokoro. She can't help checking in on a friend - and Meryta and Tansui can't deny the attraction between them.

Alright, I'm cheating and adding one more Meryta and Tansui fic. This one was the one that settled the idea I had for them in my mind, that made me think of them as ship - even if they're not there yet. I had such fun writing it, and I think it shows.

- 2. Choices

After the reveal and failure of G'raha's plan, Meryta has a moment - angry, hurt, confused and falling apart

I love this little MSQ coda, it was so great to express the feeling about the whole plot, and how it felt to Meryta. I think I expressed her feelings and interiority so well, and put some great images in here.

- 3. Comfort

"Brooding alone?” someone asks. A woman, an elf, leans on the bar next to him. Her red hair is up in a ponytail, displaying the tawny skin on her muscular back. She is wearing a shimmering white dress, only a scrap of fabric covering her back. “I am just here to enjoy a drink in peace,” he replies. She laughs, eyes sparkling and lighting up her face. Her lips are painted bold red, and he notices her vallaslin, a dull olive covering the right side of her face. Dalish, then. Not many clans do that anymore. “No one comes here to drink in peace,” she says. “Iwyn Lavellan.” She holds out her hand, and he has to take it, bringing it to his lips in a kiss. Later, he blames the alcohol, or her sparkling the eyes, or the way the dress barely covers her ass. “Solas. Pleased to meet you.”

Probably my favorite AU. I love the little plot, I love the world, I love the dynamic between them. I love writing Iwyn as the immortal. I love the images and descriptions I wrote - and he smut is pretty good too!

Uprooted (Naomi Novik) | post-book | Agnieszka/ Sarkan | Teen | 2175 words

He misses her, just not more than he fears belonging.

This is probably the favorite fic I have ever written. I think I hit the mood of the book so well, and managed to make a believable continuation. I just think this one flows so well and I'm very proud of it.

- 5. Temerity

Dragon Age | post Inquistion | Solavellan | Explicit | 10728 words

Iwyn Lavellan is doing all that she can to stay one step ahead of Solas, opposing him after he reveals his plans. When she runs into her former lover in an abandoned ruin, they start a tenuous and dangerous dance. They can't help but being drawn to each other, no matter how harsh the flames of love or hate will burn them.

I love this one for so many reasons. Though not Iwyn and Solas canon (in my head) reunion, I love the darkness of this, and the way they're messed up. I'm so proud of myself for going there and writing this and putting it out in the world. I love some of the metaphors, I love the intensity. And I love the open ending I left; do they spiral or do they make it through?

Ya’ll are sleeping on a damn good Dragon Age: Inquisition fic. I’ve been reading this to fill the emptiness the end of DA:I left in me while I wait for DA:TV to come out. If you are a Dragon Age fan I highly recommend it. It’s a bunch of extra scenes and conversations with not just Solas, but the other followers and advisors. Their interpretation of everyone’s voices is impeccable.
