OUR VIEW ON GENDER ROLE IN SOCIETY & POLITICS
It’s not surprising or even a debatable topic that we live in a heterosexual male dominating world. One doesn’t have to look far to see how or why it’s happening. We all experience it in our daily lives, families, educational communities and politics.
In today’s political landscape, motherhood is often deployed as a tool to highlight the ‘sacred nature of a subject, ranging from the Gau Mata to Bharat Mata and Ganga Mata. At the same time, issues around women’s rights and empowerment, varying from triple talaq to Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, are regular topics of conversation in Political circles. But an important question remains- do the men in Indian Politics only want to talk about women, or are they also willing to make an effort to share power with them?
Yes, we are moving towards women empowerment to achieve gender equality step by step. But that’s still just a perception; even today the vast majority of Indians (64%) are of the view that the role of women in society is to become good mothers and wives and they should focus mainly on home, according to the findings of a global survey by Ipsos. The Ipsos global trend survey 2017 examined attitudes towards the role of women, parenting, and family across 22 countries, interviewing 18,180 adults.
“More Indian women may be moving out of their homes, seeking employment and carving out a niche for themselves at workspaces, but society sees them more as accomplished mothers and wives in primary role, relegating other roles to secondary positions,” Executive Director, Ipso Public Affairs, said in a sentence
From personal experience, in my household, my mother is a business owner and my dad a government employee. No doubt that my mother plays the role of a housewife, mother and a badass boss. But still even today when it comes to decision making she hands it over to my father. It’s more like a system is fixed in women’s head that the final decision has to come from the man of the house. And I’m pretty sure this must be the case in most of the liberated and slightly upper-class families like mine. I’m not denying that there aren’t exceptions but, yes these things happen around us all the time.
Now, when it comes to politics, in India, nine out of ten legislators are men. While, Indian politicians are eager to talk about women’s empowerment and the political legacies of India’s female politicians like Sushma Swaraj, Indira Gandhi or Pratibha Patil, these women remain largely anomalies in the Indian political landscape rather than a norm.
Among our South Asian Neighbors, we rank fifth in the women’s political representation in parliament falling behind Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal. On the other hand, while many countries around the world gasped at the idea of a female head of state, India was the second country in the world to elect a female head of state, Indira Gandhi. Presently, women in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet lead some of the most important ministries, from defense to foreign affairs. Yet still, cases of violence against women increased by 40 percent from 2012 to 2016, according to the National Crime Records Bureau. A woman was raped every 13 minutes, a bride was murdered for dowery every 69 minutes, and six women are gang-raped every day in India.
Politically, women have been making their presence felt in voter turnouts. According to the Election Commission data from 2014 General Elections, the female voter turnout was higher than male turnout in 16 states and union territories out of 35. However, women remain underrepresented in state and national decision-making bodies. The decision making which is done from ministry for women and children is done by men. When someone looks at you suggestively regardless of what you are wearing, just because you have a bigger chest and ass compared to that person, or travelling alone no matter what time of the day while a man following you or listening to comments being passed on or being looked down on by your colleagues at workspace, colleges or even schools by men for being a female and not having a penis; why should those very men make decision for an entire county where 55 percent of work is done by women. So obviously, women remain underrepresented in state and national decision-making bodies. India’s handful of female politicians have occupied some of the highest seats of power but their rise, like many of their counterparts in Asia, has often been through the patronage of the family legacy.
The barriers of entry for the female politicians are much higher as they contend with multiple other surface and structural issues. According to the Economic Survey 2018, prevailing cultural attitudes regarding gender roles, domestic responsibilities, female illiteracy, lack of confidence or finances and the threat of violence, are just some of the obstacles women face.
One way to combat this disparity is through quotas.
In 1994, India ratified the 73rd and 74th amendments to the Indian Constitution, granting women 1/3 reservation in rural and urban democratic bodies. This was followed in 1996 by the introduction of the Women’s Reservation Bill that would reserve 33 percent of seats in Lok Sabha and the state legislative assemblies for women on a rotational basis.
After much contestation, the bill finally passes in the Rajya Sabha in 2010 but lapsed in 2014 with the dissolution of 15th Lok Sabha. It continues to languish-22 years since the initial proposal.
One thing so far is clear as water, that we need female representation in Politics because we need women who have experienced all the problems a female goes through from being a girl to a woman. It’s not just about representation, but to initiate gender equality at the highest rank, for transgender and non-binary citizens to step up and represent their communities. Role model effect also erases the gender disparity in educational attainment of young girls.
While quotas allow women access to positions of power, according to some detractors, they also weaken the ideas of the election based on merit in democracy. There is concern that women in government may compromise growth as pro-female and pro-family policies are often associated with welfare. However, many women run for the local governments, because of pressure from relatives eager to keep a particular seat in the family or gain material benefit. Their spouses, the “panchayat patis”, often control the position, wielding power through the women’s position. Furthermore, once elected, women often run again for political office even after their constituencies have been de-reserved. While the reservation for women is only for 33 percent of the seats, women make up 46 percent of the elected representatives in Panchayati Raj institutions, exhibiting active participation and leadership at local governments levels.
Presently, the two largest political parties of India, the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC), support the women’s reservation bill in their rhetoric. However, contrary to the popular rhetoric support, India Today finds that in the 2014 General Elections, BJP gave only 8.8 percent tickets to women candidate and Congress just 12.9 percent.
The Times of India reported that BJP was planning to field at least 25 percent women candidates in Madhya Pradesh for the 230 seats. BJP’s past record, however, remains a shoddy record.
In the Karnataka state elections in May, only 6 of the 224 candidates fielded by the BJP were women, less than 3 percent of their total candidature. Ironically, Prime Minister Modi’s slogans as he kicked off the state election campaign were, “Beta, Beti Ek Saman” (Son and Daughter are equal). The other two big parties in Karnataka elections didn’t fare much better when it came to representing women. The INC and JD(S), fielded 15 and 4 female candidates respectively.
In August, the INC president, Rahul Gandhi, penned a scathing letter to Modi urging him to “walk his walk” on Women’s empowerment and pass the bill. Like BJP, in practice, only 14 percent of the newly formed Congress Workers’ Committee leaders are women, despite the constitution of the INC calling off for 33 percent reservation for the party’s committees.
Studies show that for women to have a meaningful impact in Parliament, they need to reach at least a 30 percent threshold.
“We want respect and to be treated on par with another citizen. That I defeated a person, who is not a transgender shows people love me” these are the words spoken by Dnyaneshwar Kamble, a 40-year-old transgender women elected as Maharashtra’s first ever transgender Sarpanch on 17th October 2018 in the gram panchayat elections in Tarangfal villege of Solapur. Kamble intends to focus on lok sevs (welfare of people) and gram seva (welfare of the village/society). Villagers in her area still defecate in the open- Kamble said she would concentrate on making her village open defecation. She is a Standard VII dropout, but she regrets not completing her education. Kamble would also focus on providing better education to the villagers.
The Logical Indian community appreciates the fact of how people have chosen Kamble as their representative. Kamble and many others have been on the receiving end of social ignorance. A move like this works as an encouragement for the entire society. We hope this acts a precedent for other communities as well.
In short, representation matters. Either you are gay, lesbian, binary, non- binary or whatever, we as a whole are citizens of a country which doesn’t allow or even recognizes that representation is the key to a progressive nation and be recognized as a first world country as we should be.

Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil on Dhangar Community and Agro-Labour Union, Kurundwad, Dist- Kolhapur
Agriculture Minister Hon. Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil assured Dhangar community about their reservation demands and agro-labours for their pension plans, home, andlegalisation procedures.
For the 2019 election, the BJP election campaign focuses on major issues such as farmer’s betterment, reservation for Maratha and Dhangar community, Ayushman Bharat Scheme, etc. Recently, Revenue and Agriculture Minister of Maharashtra Honourable Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil addressed a public meet--Dhangar community and Agro Labour Union at Kurundwad, Hatkanangale Lok Sabha constituency. He focussed on the contribution of the BJP government at the national level and the state level for the betterment of communities and agricultural perspective.
Amazingly, Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil started his speech with “YelkotYelkot Jai Malhar” to praise Dhangar Community Deity –“Lord Khandoba.” Revenue Minister Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil further claimed that every member present in the meeting is benefited due to one of the scheme or plans launched by the Modi Government and that is why Hon. Modi Ji needs to be Prime Minister of this country once more. Many families over here are benefitted with free toilets, loan waivers, gas connections, light connections, income tax benefits, etc. Moreover, many families in India are now benefitting with Ayushman Bharat Scheme. Through this scheme, 5 members of the family can avail the benefits and are covered with 5 Lakh rupees for health and medical purpose every year. In this way, each and every family is benefitted by the plans and schemes launched by the Modi Government. This fact led to the conclusion that there is no other option than Hon. Modi Ji for making our lives secure, safe, happy and wealthy.
Revenue Minister Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil further added that there is a big list of the achievements of the BJP government. The major issue solved at the state level by Honourable Chief Minister Mr. Devendra Fadnavis is related to the Maratha Community reservation. Maratha community reservation demand was prolonged since 1968. Even prior Maratha Chief Ministers such as Mr. Sharad Pawar replied that the Maratha community is not considered as backward, and reservation cannot be provided to the Maratha community. But Brahmin Chief Minister Mr. Devendra Fadnavis could achieve this miracle and now the Maratha community is availed with 16% reservation in the services and education. For the medical courses post-graduation, the admission process is already started with the applied reservation.
Agriculture Minister Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil explained the strategy used by the BJP Government in the achievement of Dhangar community reservation. This prolonged demand of Dhangar community is supported by the research report given by TISS and now with supporting documents, the application is given to the Central Government for the Dhangar community reservation. Due to this systematic approach used by Honourable Chief Minister Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, it is possible to resolve the confusion between Dhagad and Dhangar community in the Maharashtra state. Until the court result comes for this matter, the State Government is committed to providing all the tribal facilities to the Dhangar community, including tuition fees, hostels, etc. Along with this, it is also finalised that Punyshlok Ahilyabai Holkar will be paid tribute by renaming Solapur University with her name.
Honourable Revenue Minister Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil put forward the benefits of reservation offered on the basis of financial criteria instead of caste. This is one of the historicdecisions taken by the BJP government. Families with an annual income, lesser than 8 Lakhs will get the benefit of this reservation. He further added that Maratha, Dhangar community reservation and financial basis reservation will benefit many generations of Maharashtra people, therefore, it is necessary to have the same government back at the centre.
In the next session of his speech, he gave assurance to all agricultural labours that their demands will be fulfilled as early as possible. He further added that agricultural labours will be supported bythe Central Government through amonthly pension. This will help them after 60. Also, we will try to provide them homes and try to legalise their current encroachment. He also assured that we will try to increase the pension amount for agro-labour including Shravan-Bal Pension scheme.
While concluding the speech Revenue Minister added that I need not talk about the opponent candidate Mr. Raju Shetty, because he has joined with a party which has been always biased towards farmers. He urged people to vote for the Shiv Sena candidate, Mr. Dharyshil Mane in the upcoming election. It is necessary to assure BJP-Shiv Sena candidate’s victory in the election to secure our country in Honourable Prime Minister’s hands again.
In Maharashtra state,Dhangar community comprises of the 10% population contribution. In this situation, the Dhangar community plays a major role in the election results. BJP is taking great efforts for the Dhangar community’s betterment through reservation procedures and its positive consequences will be seen with the support of the Dhangar community.

Mr Sunil Tatkare -An Inappropriate Plan to Divert Konkan Water
Mr Sunil Tatkare has been appointed as the new Member of Parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha election for Raigad Lok Sabha constituency. He has worked as MLA and the Finance Minister and Water Resources Minister for the state. His skills and analytical abilities to understand the situation are excellent. He has always taken the stand for the betterment of the Konkan region and always supported the masses. If Konkan river water diversion decision is harmful to the Konkan region, Mr Sunil Tatkare was expected to react to this decision and he did it immediately. His warning to the State Government on this decision and the issues he has raised about this decision are research-based and worthwhile to think about. Before implementing the decision of Konkan river water diversion, the State Government should review Mr Sunil Tatkare’s thoughts on it.
Raigad district new Member of Parliament Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare has criticised the State Government regarding their policies for the utilisation of available river water and different strategies associated with it. Mr Sunil Tatkare is the active leadership face of Konkan region and he supports the Konkan region with his strong leadership style. Recently, he criticised the State Government for their different policies regarding river water diversion of rivers flowing through Konkan.
Mr Sunil Tatkare targeted the current government during his interview with the journalists at Alibaug. In this press conference, Mr Sunil Tatkare informed that the State Government has appointed one committee for diversion of Koyna and Mulshi dam water to other areas. The committee has submitted one report to the government. According to this report, the government will try to divert Koyna and Mulshi dam water towards the east. If this happens, the Konkan region will get affected and due to this decision, there will be an enormous shortage of water in the Konkan region. Not only this, but it will also affect electricity projects in the region.
Mr Sunil Tatkare further informed that the government has planned to divert the river water from the Konkan area, but they will not allow doing this. Newly appointed Member of Parliament, Mr Sunil Tatkare has warned the State Government that the diversion of river water from Konkan region will not be tolerated.
Mr Sunil Tatkare proves that he is a strong and efficient leader from the Konkan region. The State Government's policies to politicise the issues of water distribution are observed recently with different decisions such as diverting Baramati belt water portion to Solapur area. On this decision also, Mr Sunil Tatkare reacted that these policies are implemented to politicise the issue of water distribution and it is beyond his understanding. In this situation, the state government has also planned to divert the water flowing through the Konkan region to other areas. This type of decision will harm the Konkan region to a great extent because already the Konkan region is deprived of water. Also, the Koyna electricity project is one of the most important power generation projects in the country. Mr Sunil Tatkare has pointed out that this type of water diversion decision can affect the power generation project in the future.

BJP-Shiv Sena script spectacular saffron success
Mumbai: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena combine marched to a spectacular victory in Maharashtra, leading in or bagging (as of 6 pm) 41 of the state’s 48 Lok Sabha constituencies here on Monday. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis termed the success by saying: “Its not just a ‘Modi-wave’, it’s a tsunami.” “There are no differences between us (BJP-Sena).. The people have given us a clear verdict. We shall go among the people and work for development and other issues,” Fadnavis said. Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray, who warmly welcomed Fadnavis at his home in the evening, attributed the results to the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his policies. “Our alliance will continue further, even after the upcoming assembly elections in October…” Thackeray assured. To question on his estranged cousin Maharashtra Navnirman Sena President Raj Thackeray’s famous campaign (“Laav re te video” Play that video), Thackeray declined comment, but said mockingly: “Laav re te fataakde” – ‘burst the crackers’. As per latest trends, the BJP was on way to winning 22 seats and the Shiv Sena 20 seats, of the 25 and 23 seats respectively, they contested, which Fadnavis termed as well within their expectations and which “increased the responsibility thrust by the people on the saffron alliance”. The electoral bloodbath in Maharashtra claimed at least two union ministers – one from the BJP (DESK: Final announcement awaited) and one from Sena – falling to the Congress and NCP respectively candidates respectively. There are two former chief ministers – Ashok Chavan in Nanded and Sushilkumar Shinde in Solapur – both from Congress who were felled by the BJP surge. However, the Congress is still pinning hopes of winning one seat – Chandrapur, while its ally Nationalist Congress Party has bagged four seats so far – Baramati, Raigad, Shirur and Satara, one opposition-supported independent, south Indian film actress Navnit Kaur R. Rana – Amravati. In Aurangabad, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen candidate Imtiyaz Jaleel Syed who was leading with significant margins since morning, suddenly trailed in the evening behind his Shiv Sena rival Chandrakant Ahire, and the ding-dong battle between them continued in each round. NCP President Sharad Pawar said he humbly accepted the peoples’ verdict, while a bewildered MNS chief Raj Thackeray termed the outcome “as beyond rationale”. For the state’s numero uno political clan, the shocking defeat of Parth Ajit Pawar in Maval was first ever tasted by any family member in any elections in the past over five decades. Another former chief minister and President of Maharashtra Swabhimani Party Narayan Rane’s son and former MP Nilesh Rane was trounced by the Sena candidate Vinayak Raut in Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, with the Congress controversial nominee Navinchandra B. Bandivadekar faring a poor third. The country’s commercial capital saw the Congress-NCP dreams crumble once again after 2014 when they lost all the six seats in Mumbai, stunning the recently-appointed city party chief Milind M. Deora. Similary, the much-anticipated Dalit-Muslim unity experiment of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) was totally rejected by the people, with VBA President Prakash Ambedkar – grandson of Architect of Indian Constitution B. R. Ambedkar – losing in both Akola and Solapur seats which he contested, though the AIMIM candidate in Aurangabad held out hopes of a victory. Bouyed by the outcome, a confident BJP Minister Chandrakant Patil even announced that the state assembly elections would be held in mid-October and that month, the BJP-Sena alliance would again rule Maharashtra. via Today Bharat Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse had killed him once, but modern-day "Godses" are killing Gandhi's India on a day to day basis, according to Lok Sabha MP and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi. " Godse (Nathuram) ne toh Gandhi ko goli mari thi, magar maujuda Godse Gandhi ke Hindustan ko khatam kar rahe hain. Jo Gandhi ke maan ne wale hain main unse keh raha hun ki iss watan-e-azeez ko bacha lo (Godse had shot Gandhi, but modern-day Godses are killing off Gandhi's Hindustan daily. I request the followers of Gandhi to save this beloved nation)," Owaisi said addressing a public rally here on Wednesday. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their attempted National Register of Citizens (NRC) drive by saying, "Narendra Modi and his Home Minister keep saying that they will bring NRC in India. They are forgetting that there is a Constitution in India," Owaisi said. The party on Wednesday announced the seventh list of three candidates for the ensuing Maharashtra Assembly elections scheduled to be held on October 21. Ayesha Mohammed Qazi will contest on the party ticket from Miraj, Syed Taher Hussain Moinuddin will contest from Ahmedpur, and Zahid Ibrahim Shaikh will contest from Hadapsar constituency. The list was finalised "with the approval of party chief Asaduddin Owaisi", it said. On Wednesday, Owaisi had announced Amit Kumar Sanjay Ajnalkar to be the party candidate from Solapur (South) constituency in the ensuing Maharashtra polls. The AIMIM had on September 10 announced its first list of candidates. The party's Maharashtra unit chief Imtiaz Jaleel had last week said that the Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana posed an opportunity for the public to "change the atmosphere in the country". The Election Commission has scheduled the single-phase voting for Maharashtra Assembly elections on October 21 and counting of votes will be held on October 24.

Foundation of New Political Equations with Mission Baramati – Chandrakant Patil
Focus on Ending Monopoly in the Politics and Emerging New Political Equations said the Revenue Minister, Hon. Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil during a candid Interview.
With 2019 election results, the equations in Maharashtra politics are going to change and many BJP eminent are eager to see these new equations in the history of Maharashtra. One of the most intense and discussed constituencies for 2019 Lok Sabha elections include Baramati constituency. Revenue and Agriculture Minister of Maharashtra State, Hon. Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil is playing an important role in the public meetings at Baramati constituency. On this occasion, Zee 24 Taas conducted an interview with Mr. Dada Patil and this is our detailed report on the interview.
Why BJP is focussing more on Baramati?
Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil explained that Baramati has been associated with a particular since family last several years and comparatively NCP could achieve partial development in the Baramati constituency. Many other areas in the constituency are facing issues or specifically Bhor MIDC and unemployment for the youth are the serious concerns there. Also, the success of the BJP in the Baramati constituency is not a simple thing, it will require hard work. Therefore, the BJP has to focus more on Baramati constituency. He also added that the things are triggered from 2014 elections itself. In the last elections, Mr. Mahadev Jankar was defeated by MP Mrs. Supriya Tai Sule by the vote difference of 76000 votes and it was totally surprising. Mr. Jankar was a new face for the Baramati constituency and still, he could achieve such a great result. Therefore, in 2019 elections with BJP symbol, we are expecting new equations in the election results.
A new strategy for Baramati constituency
Revenue Minister Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil explained that Baramati constituency consists of the Khadakwasla area from Pune and we can get the benefit, if we can increase the vote count from Khadakwasla region and reduce the same for Supriya Tai Sule from Baramati area, we will be able to see new equations.
Development of Baramati and Contribution of Pawar Family
While answering the tricky questions of Hon. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and Mr. Arun Jaitley’s visit and appreciation for Baramati development, Revenue Minister Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil replied that leaders of the BJP always appreciate the good things from opponents as well. We never deny about Baramati development and the contribution of NCP for the same. But the fact is that only partial development has been achieved by NCP and that through the contribution of Mr. Aappasaheb Pawar and much more work is pending, including drought situation and other problems in the constituency. Also, in a democratic system why only one family should have a monopoly in politics?
When Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil was asked about his change in nature and attacking behaviour, especially on the Pawar family, he replied that in politics, leaders need to play diverse roles and I am assigned the attacking role now for victory in Baramati constituency. Also, in an amusing way, he added that I can’t attack Raj Thackery, Harshwardhan Patil, etc. in this way. As their context in the upcoming election is irrelevant or they are my friends. But, Mr. Sharad Pawar is respectable and my friend too. I just need to take attacking behaviour for ending the monopoly of a single family in the politics and to defeat the dirty politics they played in the history of Maharashtra. He also added that Mr. Ajit Pawar visited Mr. Harshavardhan Patil’s home. He needed to take this step because NCP always tried to trouble Mr. Harshvardhan Patil in the past and now it's his time to convince.
Thoughts on Dhangar Community Reservation
Mr. Dada Patil appealed that the current government is successful in solving the Dhangar Reservation issue. Till the court results are out, Dhangar community will get all the benefits of tribal communities such as hostels, tuition fees, etc. and also the process of renaming Solapur University as Ahilyabai Holkar University is finalised, therefore, Dhangar community will support BJP in the election.
The overall picture of elections and results
According to Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil, it is crystal clear that in western Maharashtra, all 10 seats will be occupied by BJP-Shiv Sena alliance. He also showed sympathy for Mr. Parth Pawar, for his future failure in the upcoming elections. On the country level, he is expecting that 375 seats will be occupied by BJP and friend parties. Therefore, Hon. Mr. Narendra Modi is going to be PM again.
BJP and Future
To justify BJP against different criticizing issues such as entry of other party members, violence in the public meetings, etc. Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil replied that sometimes it happens, but the entry of such members in the party will not destroy the original principles and ethics of the BJP. He also replied that violence cases will be taken seriously by the party. On the other hand, renowned politicians are also joining the party for a better future, principles, and opportunities to work for society.
The confidence of BJP workers, and guidance and participation of the BJP eminent for the upcoming election campaign is on the momentum. This outstanding campaign work for the party can change the political equations in the Maharashtra state.

Congress stares at obliviation in Maha after LS polls
Mumbai: The Congress, led by its national president Rahul Gandhi stares at its political obliviation in Maharashtra, after suffering its worst ever defeat in the state, once considered its stronghold. The Congress could win just one, out of 48 seats, while the combined total of the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance could wrest only six seats along with allies in all, compared to the 41 that the Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The only seat the Congress won was of Suresh Dhanorkar from Chandrapur, who became the giant killer as he defeated Hansraj Ahir, union minister of state for home. Two former chief ministers of the Congress, including Ashok Chavan and Sushilkumar Shinde lost the polls. The Lok Sabha election results have virtually wiped out the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra, leaving political pundits stunned as the Congress lost all seats but one. Ironically, the only saving face for the Congress, led by Ashok Chavan in the state was its candidate Dhanorkar, a former Shiv Sena legislator, who quit the party before Lok Sabha polls and joined the Congress, fought on its ticket and won the Chandrapur seat. Dhanorkar is a leader of the Kunbi (farmer Marathas) community and the Chandrapur is a Kunbi dominated constituency, while his opponent Ahir is from the Gavali community. It was for the first time a political party gave a ticket to a Kunbi, the community, along with Muslim and Dalit possibly voted in favour of Dhanorkar. In Chandrapur, the DMK (Dalit-Muslim-Kunbi) factor worked against four-times BJP MP and minister Ahir and led to his defeat. The wipeout is a dramatic shift from 2009 when Maharashtra had contributed a major chunk of 25 MPs to the Congress-led United Progressives Alliance (UPA) government. In 2014 however, the opposition Congress-NCP could win a mere six seats in 2014 polls amidst the "Modi wave." The Congress came down from two in 2014 to one in 2019, all others receiving a severe drubbing. The NCP, that was nearly written off, managed to win four seats of its own - the Maratha centric seats of Baramati, Shirur, Satara and Raigad. The NCP succeeded in adding one more seat from Amravati as the party had supported independent candidate Navneet Kaur Rana, who won the seat defeating outgoing Shiv Sena MP Anand Adsul. The saffron BJP-Sena combine inflicted massive wounds on heavyweights from the Congress and the NCP including Shinde from Solapur and Chavan from Nanded, Milind Deora from Mumbai South, Eknath Gaikwad from Mumbai South-Central and Raju Shetti of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana. In Nanded, the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) candidate Yashpal Bhinge secured over 1.60 lakh votes, that resulted in Chavan’s defeat by a margin of around 50,000 votes. While accepting the result, Chavan blamed the VBA for his defeat and division of secular votes. I admit the wipe-out of the grand old party was unexpected, even with people generally talking of being fed up with dynasty rule. The shocking results for the Congress were from Mumbai city and suburbs, with political pundits expecting the Congress-NCP to retain the seats like in 2009 polls. I had not really seen the pro-Narendra Modi wave on ground, except in pockets of suburbs like Borivali, Kandivali in the Mumbai North constituency, some parts of Mulund and other pockets. It was predicted that Congress has favourable situation in Mumbai South as industrialist Mukesh Ambani had openly endorsed candidature of Milind Deora in there. What then prompted people to go all out and reject the Congress-NCP candidates, despite being disappointed with the Modi government over demonetisation and GST issues? Now, the NCP chief will have to introspect what went wrong, as with all the efforts of his party could pull off only four seats and the Congress received a drubbing. The only leader who is responsible for the debacle of Congress is its state chief Ashok Chavan who would possibly be replaced in upcoming days as the party cannot take the risk of facing the Maharashtra assembly polls scheduled in October this year under his leadership. Chavan meanwhile has taken responsibility of his party's debacle, saying they raised people’s issues in the run-up to the polls but failed to succeed. To a query on whether he will continue as the state Congress chief, Chavan told reporters in his constituency that the party central leadership would take a call on his future role. “I will present my views to the party leadership. I accept responsibility for our defeat. We relentlessly raised people’s issues and took on the government, but it is sad that we did not get success,” he said. Chavan appealed to party workers to not to get disheartened and rather start preparations for the state Assembly polls due later this year. In Maharashtra, which sends 48 members to the Lok Sabha, the BJP emerged victorious in 23 seats while the Sena won 18 seats. Read the full article

For the upcoming elections, each and every stakeholder of the BJP is proactively working to assure the comeback of Modi Government in the centre again. Revenue and Agriculture Minister of Maharashtra state and strong political face of western Maharashtra, Hon. Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil has implemented a sound strategy for the upcoming elections. Recently he attended a public meeting at Sarud, Taluka - Shahuwadi under the Hatkanangale Lok Sabha constituency. At this meeting, he emphasised on the international achievements of the Modi Government and also elaborated his betterment initiatives for the common people.
Agriculture Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil explained the different dimensions of Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi Ji with reference to Gujarat development. He appreciated the Honourable Prime Minister for his effective decisions for water management and resolving the issue of water scarcity in the Gujarat state. Also, the desert areas like Kachh were also able to overcome the water deficiency issues in the tenure of Mr. Narendra Modi Ji as a Chief Minister of Gujarat. Revenue Minister Honourable Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil also recalled the international achievements of the Modi Government in the last 5 years. He explained that we are the sixth economy in the world and Hon. Mr. Narendra Modi Ji is the third most prominent and efficient political leader worldwide. In the near future, we will progress as the third biggest economy in the world.
Guardian Minister of Kolhapur district Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil also elaborated on the concerns of the BJP Government towards women and their problems. Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji started Ujjwala scheme for women for free gas connections and showed his sensitivity towards the problems of women. Also, he hailed the scheme for pregnant women where 6000 rupees are credited to her account which can benefit them for medicines, rest, and healthy food. He informed everyone that such a sensible person was targeted by Congress due to his marital status.
Agriculture Minister Mr. Patil also recalled about crop insurance scheme provided by the Central Government. This scheme is beneficial to farmers because it allows farmers to handle losses due to natural calamities, drought or low yield problems. He also added that for crop insurance, farmers need to pay only 2.5 rupees out of 10 and the remaining amount is paid by the Central and State Government. He also compared the amounts of waivers offered by the two governments, which is 3100 crores by the BJP government and 300 crores by the previous Congress Government. He also added that massive irrigation facilities are offered by the Modi Government which includes different dam projects, canals, etc. 24,000 crores contribution is raised by the Central Government for the irrigation work and farmers are largely benefitted due to this.
Revenue Minister also explained about the various loan schemes offered to youth for the business purposes. Youth can opt for the loan of 10 Lakhs after submitting their business proposal and no need for a mortgage for this loan.
Hon. Minister Patil appealed that Hon. Prime Minister Modi has achieved success in aligning developmental schemes for women, farmers, and youth. It is necessary now to give him next tenure to finish the work started by him and to secure the country as well.
Experienced and seasoned Minister Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil also reviewed the excellent work of Devendra Fadnavis Government in the state. Further, he explained that Fadanvis Government has become successful to offer maximum loan waivers to the farmers and the amount is 3400 crores, out of which already 2100 crore amount is transferred to the farmer's accounts. He also appreciated Honourable Chief Minister Mr. Devendra Fadnavis for his great achievement in the process of Maratha Reservation demand. He explained that despite having Maratha Chief Ministers and maximum academic institutes owned by Maratha community, not any of the prior government was able to handle Maratha Reservation demand successfully and it is prolonged now since 1968. But we are glad that Fadanvis Government achieved this and Maratha Community is offered with 16% reservation in education and services and it is sustainable in the court process also. Many opponents also tried to question about Maratha Reservation in the court.
Another great achievement of Fadanvis Government is related to the process of Dhangar community reservation. To accomplish this, our government submitted the report given by TISS about Dhangar community and on the basis of this report, the tribal community reservation is now applicable for Dhangar community also. Before this, Congress Government used to send only request to the Central Government for Dhangar community reservation. But due to the lack of supporting documents, the request was always denied. Now, our government has achieved success in the Dhangar community reservation process as that of the tribal community. Also, Solapur University is renamed as Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar University recently.
While concluding the speech, Revenue Minister Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil appealed to the people to vote for the BJP and the Modi Government. Both Mr. Narendra Modi and Mr. Devendra Fadnavis requested you to give your important vote to them 5 years back with an assurance to change the face of India. The process has begun now. Humorously, he also added that to defeat Mr. Raju Shetty, there is no need for BJP as only NCP and National Congress are sufficient for this. Finally, he appealed to the people to vote for the BJP candidate, Mr. Dhairyashil Mane in the upcoming election.
