I know a lot of people are really partial to the idea that Solas and Inky never slept together, but I’m always going to headcanon they did. There is something so, so important to me about the way he insists that what they had was real, that he did not ‘take her’ as the Dread Wolf, that he did not use her as part of his agenda, that he wanted to stay with her as Solas, that he gave her every part of himself that he could give, including that.

And I especially love the idea of him always waiting for her to make the first move, that if she comes to him, seeks him out, asks for him, that it’s okay, because it’s what she wants, and what she wants is him, the him he wants desperately to stay with her as.

It’s just so 🥺

Solas: It is alright. The proper phrase is "ma serannas", by the way.

Aqun: (laughs) Right. My friends would always drop the "ma", so that's what I'm used to.

Aqun: Ma serannas.

Sera: Ugh!

Aqun: Did I... do something?

Sera: No. Yeah. I don't know.

Aqun: Well, you're staring at me and making angry noises, so something's upsetting you.

Sera: It's the way you get around Solas. "Ooh, look at me, I know Elven!". "Ooh, look at me, I know old stuff!". Being all elfy and shit when you're not even it. Makes the rest of us look bad.

Aqun: I.... thought you didn't care about that?

Sera: I don't! But if you're not it and you still care, then I have to. And I don't want to!

Aqun: How about this: I'm talking to Solas about old elven things so you don't have to. Someone's got to keep him busy.

(if Solas is romanced) Sera: (snorts) You'd know about keeping him busy.

Sera: Alright. But I'm telling him you said that.

It’s missing Soraan hours

This song is all the Solasmance vibes. It is called "Guide You Home (I Would Die For You)" by Rebecca Kneubuhl and Gabriel Mann. I do plan on using it in the Solavelyan story I'm working on (link will be provided at the bottom of this post) but I think it works so well for anyone who romances Solas.

It is originally the end credits for the game The Legend of Spyro, Dawn of the Dragon. It holds a special place in my heart because the first Spyro was the first video game I ever played and I remember beating this game with my little sister. However, I do think a lot of the lyrics work for those of us who romance the sad Fade Elf.

To start with

"I would die for you"

If you go for the mages in Redcliffe and bring Solas he does in fact die so that Dorian and the Inquisitor can get back to their time. When Corypheus attacks Haven the Inquisitor is completely willing to sacrifice themselves for the people of Haven (including Solas)

"You set me free"

We know how much freedom means to our man. That should be an obvious line.

"Where our hearts are wide open"

This man has been closed off for quite literally thousands of years, and here this mortal comes along and knocks down all his walls. Solas is more his true self in Inquisition than he has been in a long time, since becoming Fen'Harel. He still didn't tell us all of the truth but he definitely opened his heart to love.

"Where our bond is unbroken"

You can choose to save Solas even after everything he does. You can tell him "I will save you, this doesn't have to destroy us."

It's just an amazing song and makes me so happy and emotional, I listen to it all the time, over 15 years after the game first came out.

Anyway, just wanted to share a piece of my childhood that has connected to another massive passion of mine.

In the whole Solavellan romance. Solas was selfish in it. He wants to feel love, to feel care for-and at that point, it had been many years since he felt actually seen by someone. This could also work with high approval friendship bc I think the friendship is very important as well-and thr concept of being seen, being respected and that emotional connection-warmth is just very important to Solas. Solas, despite how he may try to portray himself, is a deeply emotional person.

That's why he falls in love with the Inquisitor, not just romantically.

A banter between Cole and Solas, set in the aftermath of this conversation with Inquisitor Adaar.

Cole: Solas, you aren't still any more. Something has happened.

Solas: You've no need to trouble yourself. It is not a matter of any real importance.

Cole: That's not true... The surface shudders, shifting, silence shattered with a single look. You thought it would be softer, but it wasn't. You want to know why. I could tell you, if you like. That part is easy to hear.

Solas: I would ask for your discretion in this, Cole.

Cole: Still different, still dangerous. He sees a beast who dons their own collar, making decorations of their chains. Hurt flashes, furious and fast before they catch, too late. The wariness he wears is salt in old wounds, worn raw in carelessness.

Cole: You said she was more than you expected. She didn't think she had to prove that again. Not with you.

Solas: Ah. I... I see. Thank you. I've much to think on, it seems.

Cole: She doesn't want to be different. She just wants to be her.
