I do want to enjoy tea so so bad. So bad. I want to be a tea enjoyer and know how to brew it to perfection. However it always tastes thin and flat and I do, in fact, only drink it with oodles of honey and milk (as I do coffee with sugar and creamer).

I...yeah. I didn't need my kneecaps anyway haha (totally not rethinking my complicated feelings about my last breakup...huh.)

This is a notorious trait of mine and a long term inside joke with my friends and family irl. I always say that the guys I'm attracted to just happen to be tall, but...it does certainly have appeal, I'll admit. (My ex was 6'4" while I'm a crisp 5'0" so take that how you will lol - anybody's going to end up taller than me just about tbh)

I'm not so sure about this one tbh. If it was involuntary and sudden, sure, I'd struggle with it bc I'm close to my family (particularly my mom)...but I would eventually adjust. If it were voluntary, though, and I got to pick where? (*coughs* Thedas or the PMD world tbh *coughs*) And I could escape the hellscape that is the big scary world where one has to pay taxes? I may just opt to fight dragons.

My sister gave me I guess technically a vintage Eevee plush she got brand new (she's nine years older than me, mind, and was the one who introduced me to Pokemon to start with; I remember her coming over one night to go to a skate rink and she was playing R/S/E where you run into the Keckleon by the pond outside Fortree City - she let me battle it, but I don't really remember what Pokemon she had on her team). She had gotten rid of a bunch of stuff like cards and the like, and I've kept it all. The plush currently sits on the shelf by my bed along with the Grovyle and Dusknoir ones I bought recently, as well as some slightly older Treecko and Leafeon ones (although I want to get the Leafeon and Lucario sitting cuties as well eventually). So...yes. It's very special to me.

I need help again but it’s actually, like... important??? For fic, anyway.

So I’m tagging my tmnt pals. @crow-dog-blogs @leonsi @this-world-of-beautiful-monsters @brightlotusmoon @neromia

This’ll be... not long-long but lots of lines so I’ll put under a cut. I need help with names. Please. O~O

So I’m doing a genderbend oneshot, but I wanna use the same names for the characters throughout my genderbend stuff--which will include my Comparisons AU whenever I get around to revamping that thing. I have some ideas, but I want second opinions, especially ‘cause like, half of you guys read my stuff now and... I just would really like your input, please.

So, I’ll start with the main cast in this post, or at least the ones I’m worried about Right Now, and then tomorrow I’ll reblog with minor characters/villains that won’t be of much importance (at least for a while). I’ll color-coding and role-related nicknames, or actually titles for canon characters.

So for our Fearless Blue One, I think I’ll definitely hope on the Lavinia bandwagon. I mean, the woman was a fucking overachiever in the best way--she was the first female artist to rely solely on her commission money and she was known throughout western Europe, not just in Italy. Also, she was the first woman artist to paint/draw female nudes??? And she had a househusband with children? Renaissance Icon much? Plus, there’s the added benefit of Simple Nicknames and keeping the initials; Fearless Leader Lavinia, Nia, Vin, Vinny--lots of choices!

Next the Feisty Ball of Flames, our darling Red Turtle. I was thinking Sofonisba, who is also an icon and not-coincidentally my favorite artist of all time. She was taught by Bernardino Campi, which was kind of a big deal at the time, and was internationally recognized as a fucking fantastic artist. She worked in the Spanish Royal Court--she was an Italian woman and worked for the Spanish royals. Her paintings are stunning and remarkably realistic for the time period--she was so good that Michelangelo gave her props. That kind of badassery is befitting our sewer-dwelling brawler. However, nicknames were a bit tricky for me. I decided that Sof (pronounced like the beginning of Sophie) would probably be her regular nickname and Sofie would be her Special Cute Nickname.

For the turtley genius, I’m thinking Giovanna. Giovanna Garzoni was a still-life painter and portraitist. Her work is very good and her paintings are remarkably realistic. She was considered so good at what she did, that she could, reportedly, ask any price for her paintings. For some time, her primary clients were the Medici Family. She also attended the Accademia di San Luca, where she followed events and discussion aimed at educating, socializing, and professionalizing painters, architects and sculptors of Rome. Nicknames are pretty easy, too: Vanna, Van, Gio (pronounced Vawn-ah, Vawn, and Jo(e), respectively). Vanna and Van sound a bit like Donnie and Don, too, so that’s cute.

Last turtle-sib: Artemisia. Artemisia Lomi, or Artemisia Gentileschi, among the most accomplished seventeenth-century artists, initially working in the style of Caravaggio. She was producing professional work by the age of fifteen, and was the first woman to become a member of the Accademia di Arte del Disegno in Florence. She had an international clientele. She did a lot of darker works with bright lighting and vivid colors, which reminds a lot of the Prankster--bright and cheery at first glance but a little darker in reality. Also, the nicknames Art and Arty follow a similar vein of Mike and Mikey.

For Splinter’s eldest child, I was thinking Mitsuaki, which is a Japanese name meaning “light, luminence.” It keeps the M initial of Miwa and keeps the fluffy meaning (Miwa means something like “beautiful” or “peaceful”--it might’ve been “beautiful peace,” I don’t remember off the top of my head). Of course, the Shredder will rename this child, which I don’t think Shred-head is very good at naming babies (he named Karai “spicy,” after all), so I think he’d probably go with something like Kohaku, which translates roughly to “amber”--the color of the kid’s eyes. Pretty obvious, but I thought it would be funny, and I like shitting on Shredder. Have a little gag about Shredder being so uncreative that they would immediately name their only kid after their eye color...

Speaking of, I’m keeping the name Saki, since it’s unisex; so is Yoshi, so I’m keeping that, too. Titles are still Shredder and Splinter.

August is the redhead, of course, and Casey is unisex so it stays.

I’m not worried about anybody else’s names right now, since they’re not relevent to what I’m working on. But, yeah, please give me the feedback. I’m having a bit of a dilemma and I usually spend, like, weeks on names, so...

Eehhh, might as well, hehe. I do, it's @sofie-minnett, and I have it because it's kinda of my inspiration blog, because I like writing songs (although I don't mention it much because #1. I'm shy and I don't know if they're good, haha, forgive me. And #2. the only three people I've told, didn't even care, so whatever xd). I don't do much in it though, I only reblog pretty stuff that I like or find aesthetically pleasing.

ngl seeing all those posts you reblogged about that danish actress Sidse made me want to watch the show lol. Do you have any other danish tv series or films to recommend ? I'm so unfamiliar with the danish film industry but I would love to discover more of it!

You have no idea how happy this makes me lmao. If i can make people watch danish stuff my goal in life is ACHIEVED haha. 

Danish film industry is small but has some very good stuff. 

Here are some of my favorite films (all of them are very dramatic and sad i’m sorry lmao): 

The Guilty, directed by Gustav Möller (2018): This is a very special film. It’s about a police officer getting an emergency call from a woman who is being kidnapped, but the call is suddenly over. And the whole film is about him trying to solve the case from his office on the phone. There’s only one set, the office, and like 3 camera angles. You actually follow the story by listening to the film, which is so great but also very stressful. The sound editing is just phenomenal ! An amazing thriller. And it’s a FIRST feature film, which is even more impressive.

A Royal Wedding, by Nikolaj Arcel (2012): A period film about a real historic event in Denmark in the late 18th century. I wanted to watch it for Mads Mikkelsen and discovered Alicia Vikander thanks to that film. they’re both phenomenal. It’s not a happy film though, you gotta be ready lol. 

The Hunt, directed by Thomas Vinterberg (2012) : Again, Mads Mikkelsen is incredible in this film. He carries the whole film so brilliantly. One of the best performance i’ve seen. Truly one of the best actor of his generation. The film is great, but once again, pretty tough haha.

R directed by Tobias Lindholm (2012):  This is also from real events. the story is about a cook in a merchant ship being taken hostage by Somalian pirates. Captain Philips is the US remake of the film ! There are two great actors Pilou Asbæk (Borgen, Game of Thrones) and Søren Malling (The Killing, Borgen) in it !

After The Wedding, directed by Susanne Bier (2006): Another very sad film about a family drama haha. With another exceptional cast: Mads Mikkelsen (yes again) and Sidse Babett Knudsen

Festen, directed by Thomas Vinterberg (1998). Another very intense family drama. But it’s so so good, I needed a little while to get over it tbh. I think it got the Prix du Jury at Cannes . 

Pusher I, II, III, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (1996, 2004, 2005). This is clearly not for everyone. To be frank, I saw the two first films too young and I was traumatized by it lmao. And i never saw the third one. But I don’t remember much so i don’t know how really tough it is. You’ll see a very young Mads in it, but more importantly you’ll see Kim Bodnia, whom you might recognize if you watch Killing Eve ! 

And here are a couple of TV series ! 

The Killing (3 seasons - 2007-2012). A great crime show. Every season focuses on one case/investigation. The US tried to make a remake of it but it’s bad so please watch the original show lol. The cast is again really good. Sofie Grabøl is an amazing lead actress and her character Sarah Lund deserves all the happiness in the world. i still think about the final episode every day and i want to SCREAM.

Borgen (3 seasons - 2010-2013) of course. A political show about a woman who becomes the Prime Minister of Denmark and all the consequences of it. I swear to you that it’s NOT boring and Birgitte Nyborg is the best woman and prime minister ever. 

The Bridge (4 seasons - 2011-2018). Another crime show, this time it’s half danish and half swede, which is also very fun. A great dynamic duo lead by Kim Bodnia and Sofia Helin. I barely started the show though, so i can’t really say much about it haha! 

If you’re interested in more Sidse Babett Knudsen projects, she’s also in two pretty good french films, L’Hermine (Courted) and La Fille de Brest (150 Milligrams) both from 2015. Because of course as the perfect woman she is, she can speak french very well !

I’m sorry for making such long lists, I just got very excited haha! I hope it helps at least !

Ok, I should make a sideblog to post this stuff but I'm too old. Last time I used tumblr this shit didn't exist, ok? Just ignore me, thank you lol

So, as I said in an earlier post, The Tender Trap was (and honestly still is) just a fun thing I decided to do for some unknown reason. I wrote (and write) it for myself, so I knew I wouldn't get hurt or upset if no one read it, or if no one liked it, or if I got people criticizing it.

However, I was -am- fairly insecure about it, for several reasons; realistic and normal reasons: I haven't written fiction in 10 years (maybe 11 if you push it). I had never written in English. I haven't even really read fiction consistently in five years (shoutout to the Social Sciences student burn out), much less in English. Shit, I hate romantic stories, what am I doing here? I have never considered myself a writer, but I used to be a beta reader, so I am aware of many flaws. Like my chapters being too long, having too much dialogue and too little description, my vocabulary is limited because I haven't read anything but scientific papers in English in forever. I'm completely at peace with all of those, but I'm aware they're there, and I'm aware there likely are even more I'm not seeing.

It probably happens to a lot of writers but I also kinda have that perpetual feeling of "I'd love for someone to read this and tell me what they think but oh god I really hope no one reads this how embarrassing it's so bad I know I'll see myself out sorry."

But apparently, against all odds, some people like it? Despite my terror that it would seem boring and unreadable, I have gotten very lovely comments (some from mutuals I respect so, so much, that I won't tag so I'm not annoying but thank you so much bubblelaureno and gin-o-clock; I adore you both); someone suggested TTT to be the featured fic on the subreddit; another person DMed me to tell me they liked it.
