kazuichi's first birthday present

pairing: kazuichi souda x gn!reader

summary: when you gift your favorite mechanic some chocolates for his birthday, you find out it's the first birthday present he ever got…

a/n: kazuichi is such a sad character, so i wanted to write some hurt/comfort for him, to give him so angsty fluff!

“what's this…?”

kazuichi looked dumbfounded when you suddenly held out a package of homemade chocolate, wrapped up nicely with a bow. he even turned around for a moment, to see if you were perhaps handing this to someone else.

“it's your birthday today, isn't it?” you asked, a little unsure now that you saw his reaction. “i don't know a lot about mechanical stuff, so i decided to gift you something everyone likes: homemade chocolate!”

you grinned proudly, as kazuichi slowly took the package out of your hands and opened it, peeking inside. for a moment, he just stared at it, before his expression suddenly changed and tears flooded his eyes.

“i-is it that bad? i can get you something new or–”

“n-no, i love it–!” kazuichi sniffled, trying to wipe his tears away with his sleeve, before they could even star flowing. “i… i just never got something like this before…”

“you mean homemade sweets…?”

“i mean a birthday present.”

kazuichi continued to wipe tears away, that you only now recognized as tears of joy. meanwhile you stood there, staring at him in silence, as you felt the urge to cry get you too.

he never got a birthday gift before?

the urge to comfort him quickly took over you and before you realized it, you had wrapped your arms around him and pulled kazuichi into a tight hug.

“i'll make you a thousand more birthday presents, kazu–!” you mumbled into his chest, not planning on letting go of him any time soon. “i'll make sure that you'll never go a birthday without a gift ever again–! i promise!”
