I love how Jennifer Lober describes the female and male. How we automatically believe in a certain standard of life. I related to when she wrote about a person trying to characterize the baby whether if it was a girl or a boy. We are taught to do certain things according to what people have told us when we were younger, what society would expect from that sex, or social class. We all seem to judge each other until we have an exact answer of what or who we classify ourselves as.

These are the same Concepts applied by Jungians to the Journey of the Soul in the Development of its Character within the Context of its Plot and sub-plot. The Sociological Imagination applies this a little grander at the Collective scale. Virginity is a social construct mainly directed towards women to stop them from exploring their sexuality and make them feel that they are owned by the person who “takes” it from them.

SHAME IS A SOCIAL CONSTRUCT

Did you recall things you were ashamed of when you were 3, 4, 6?

Nope. You did not know what shame means.

It was drilled into you as a concept by the social construct.

Boys do not do this. Girls do not do that.

As you grow older, you are taught more and more reasons you should be ashamed of saying things, doing things, that are authentically your style. You are given more boxes with tighter spaces to fit in.

The day you realize this simple reality and stop trying to fit into the boxes of social construct laden with shame-training, you start reclaiming your authentic self. You can be kind, respectful, different, and yet live without shame.

Yes, it is a real possibility.
