𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘔𝘦𝘵:

It's your typical love story, except with swords, and blood, and screaming. Lots of screaming.

You were just an average girl with an unhealthy obsession with starting fights you had no real chance of winning. Though, it wasn't your fault when no-good crooks hit on you or touched you whenever you walked by. In fact, you'd actually earned a nickname; "The Red Ogre."

It was the festival of the Lunar Eclipse, and people from all around had come just for this one spectacular occasion. From wealthy tourists to mountain bandits, the streets were packed like dried sardines in a cat's mouth. You didn't know where this expression came from, but it suited the moment rather well.

You'd just finished bottling up the last of the sake and were bringing it over to the market stall you shared with the local soba man, when you felt something brush your ass. Yeah, no. That wasn't happening.

With practiced precision, you whipped around and felt all of your energy rush to your fist, connecting it with the asshole's jaw and sending him flying into a pile of watermelons.

Everyone could hear you screaming profanities and death threats against the pile of human trash, grabbing him by the collar and repeatedly driving your fist into his face again, and again, and again.

Once his face resembled a tumor (not that it didn't already) and you were satisfied with permanently altering his face shape, you stepped back and spat on the ground next to him, blood running down your fist.

You heard a whistle. "Hate to be on the receiving end." When you turned around, you were met with a man with three swords strapped to his waist slowly walking towards you. His eyes were on the carnage that lay on the ground beneath you, but your own were fixed on his unusually coloured hair.

Before you could say anything, you felt the man grab onto your leg and you prepared yourself for another onslaught, but you didn't need to. The hand that had wrapped itself around your ankle suddenly went limp as the swordsman effortlessly disconnected it from the man's body.

That's where the screaming came in, but without sparing a second thought he simply hoisted the man over his shoulder and, while taking a bottle of your sake, flashed you a smirk. "Thanks for the free bounty."

That's when you decided you wanted to become a bounty hunter.

𝘒𝘦𝘺 𝘔𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 1#:

You didn't see the mysterious swordsman after that, he disappeared in the midst of the festival and seemingly also disappeared from your life.

A few months went by and you'd already collected a few high profile bounties. Ever heard of "Six-Finger Trigger"? Well, you certainly never would again. With a comfortable 3 million berries almost always in your pocket, you slowly became well known in the East Blue as a fierce fighter.

Just like a crappy romance novel, you were hunting down some loser with a 7 million berry bounty on his head (well, you're sure a novel like that existed somewhere) when you bumped into a familiar face. The swordsman stepped out of the bar and immediately locked eyes onto you as if he could sense you watching him. A smirk stretched across his face. "The Red Ogre," He called out as he warily approached. "Never thought I'd see you again."

You snarkily replied that you didn't think he'd bother with a bounty this low, and the man scoffed. "I was in the area." He coolly responded and before you both could react, you were surrounded.

The look you shared spoke more than words ever could. In a split second, you went from cracking your knuckles to cracking the closest pirate's skull wide open. You both were brutal in your assault, but with him it was like watching a ribbon dancer gracefully gliding along the stage with each slash and dismemberment his swords wickedly inflicted.

By the time it was over, you both were panting and sweating over the bodies of about 30 men who'd either had their skulls bashed in, or their bodies almost cut clean in half. You huffed and cracked your neck, commenting how you clearly had more victims than him. He scoffed and pulled the sword out of his mouth, sheathing it. "Don't be ridiculous," He sheathed the other two and then pointed to the bodies. "There's more blood than teeth."

You replied that by punching out teeth, you added to the blood but he just shook his head in mild disbelief. "You're just jealous I won a competition I didn't even know we were having." He thought for a moment, then flicked his head toward the bar he had left only a few minutes ago. "How about another friendly competition?"

The competition ended in a tie when the bar ran out of liquor, but sometime during the night when he'd downed his 33rd glass of tap beer, you told him your name. He placed down his mug, looked over at you and smiled. "Zoro." He simply said and called for another round.

𝘒𝘦𝘺 𝘔𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 2#:

It was only natural that you two became a hunting duo after that. It was big news in the bounty hunting world that the two most prevalent names in the East Blue teamed up, especially because you were also the most brutal. The Red Ogre and the Demon of the East Blue (your name was obviously better) were as feared as the bounties you hunted, and no one was safe when you had them in your sights.

But what they didn't see were the times like now, where even walking in a straight line with Zoro felt like traveling between realms and ending up in a completely different place than where you intended to go.

You rolled your eyes when you past by the same graffiti-covered rock for the fourth time and asked if he had any idea where you both were going. "The barkeep said he was just down the road in the casino." Your eyes widened, that was three hours ago!!

You smacked his arm. How the hell did you get from "go down the block to the casino" to being in the middle of the goddamn jungle?! He held your hands and slowly leaned in, his eyes steeled as always. "Don't be ridiculous." He slowly looked around, then squinted his eyes. "The trees moved."

Before you could continue your assault, a twig snapped and you both were suddenly back to back, ready for anything. Out of the shadows, a gorilla poked his head out and grunted at the two of you. You smirked and commented that you didn't know Zoro had a brother. "You wish I had a brother," He replied and turned his head so he could smirk at you. "Then maybe you would finally get laid and stop being such a bitch."

Trust me, you told him, between the two of you he was the bitch. "Oh really?" Yes, only a bitch would need to hide behind swords, instead of using his fists. Something flashed in his eyes. "Bet on it?" Of course you did.

After lending you his two swords (he wouldn't let the white one out of his sight), you both ended up not only finding your bounty, but you also managed to destroy half the island while getting used to your new weapons. You won, but comprised and called it a tie.

𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘰𝘶𝘵:

It took quite a while for the both of you to realise you had feelings for each other. In fact, it wasn't until Zoro had up and joined Luffy that you felt... lost without him.

It's weird when you've spent so much of your life with someone and they suddenly stop being there. Hell, you'd even crashed in the same bed more often than not just cause it'd save you some coin. It was just... weird without him there.

You wouldn't see him again until you just so happened to be at the Baratie when he dueled Mihawk. It was practically a slaughter, and it hurt seeing someone you'd grown to care for fall to the ground - sliced practically in half.

You helped the rest of the crew get him onboard and asked Luffy, the weird, rubber man Zoro dedicated his life to, if you could stay with them until the swordsman was healed. Luffy, of course, agreed and you stayed by your partner's side until he woke up a short time later.

It was almost midnight when he groaned and shuffled in his sleep, slowly opening his eye and sighing when he caught sight of you. "Thought I'd finally gotten rid of you." Not caring if he was hurt, you smacked his arm and told him you thought he had died. He scoffed and groaned. "I wouldn't die like that, shithead."

You called him the shithead and tried to hit him again, but he caught your wrist. This wasn't like the other times he's done this, however. His grip slowly lessened and his hand slowly ran up your skin until his fingers intertwined with yours. He brought your combined hands up to his cheek and placed your palm against his skin.

His eyes flicked closed for a second and he seemed to just breathe for a moment, like he was savouring your touch. Those steely greys met your eyes once more and a slow sigh escaped him. "You better not leave me again." He mumbled against your skin and placed a kiss to the inside of your palm.

A smirk crossed your lips, bet on it?

His own smirk crossed his features, the one that you'd grown to both love and hate and the one that made your heart flutter. "Of course."

This time, Tikal, the pizza shop's signboard girl, will be joined by Chaos, who makes pizza with artisan skills!

It seems like the impossibly happy aura of the two and the enthusiasm of the delicious pizza can be felt beyond the screen.

The example story was quite surreal (Father, Pachacama...!), but what kind of lines or narration would you use?

Act3: “Satisfied Paradise”

"Welcome! Please take an empty seat."

``CHAO's Diner'' is a pizza restaurant that has been operating in the mountains of Mystic Lewin for some time.

This popular shop, located between the village of the wild echidna "Knuckles tribe" and the home of the mysterious creatures "Chao" who live in waterholes, is run by Tikal, the daughter of the Knuckles tribe chief, and the hearts of the Chao's. Gentle guardians...Two of the water creatures "Chaos".

Today, Tikal cheerfully greets customers, and Kaos deftly makes pizza with his outstretched arms. The specialty here is the piping hot special pizza made with Chao and his friends' favorite red fruits. The taste of this pizza and Tikal's cheerful customer service have earned a reputation, and the restaurant is always crowded with Chao and Knuckles people.

Although CHAO's Diner is such a wonderful place, there were some difficulties when it first opened. When Tikal remembers the past, he can't help but chuckle as he catches a glimpse of the chaos silently making pizza.

The Knuckles tribe is brutal and arrogant. Chaos was wary of them lest they harm Chao and the others.

They came in large numbers and walked around the store, making a fuss without paying any heed to the previous customers. When Chaos rushes out angrily, Tikal intervenes and intercedes...

One day...Chaos made a new pizza that was very popular with Chao and his friends...and the Knuckles tribe as well. This pizza served as a bridge and brought everyone together.

The Knuckles tribe began to respect Chaos, and began to treat the Chao people with love as well, who loved the same masterpiece. And the chaos... As soon as I saw their smiles, all the worries in my heart disappeared.

I still can't forget the joy I felt at that time. If you treat someone with sincerity, you can open up to anyone someday. That's certainly what I thought.

Relive that excitement once again...

Since then, the two have been thinking about a new pizza every day, and last night they finally completed it! Today is the day of its unveiling.

A special dough made with seven red berries, fresh basil, and melted cheese. Everyone will love it. The two of them were nervous as they waited for the baking to finish...

Suddenly, there was the sound of plates breaking from the audience. You can also hear the roar of the guests and the cries of Chao.

"W-what happened!? No way...!"

Tikal rushes out in a panic. This hasn't happened for a long time...!

When she rushed in, she saw Chao crying after dropping a plate and breaking it, and the Knuckles tribe gently cradling Chao while cleaning up the broken plate.

Tikal sighs with relief.

It was. There are no more disputes in this store. Because now everyone wants to open up and enjoy delicious pizza together in a gentle manner...

“!?”

A fragrant scent immediately flows into it. Who ordered it? It doesn't belong to anyone...it belongs to everyone! Chaos quietly arrives with a new pizza and serves it to everyone.

I've been waiting! As if to say that, the Knuckles tribe and Chao, who had been crying, smiled and bit into it.

"Ah! It's all over my heart and soul!"

"Ciao chao!"

Everyone was overjoyed. Great success! Tikal turns around. Chaos slowly nods back.

Until now and forever. This restaurant for two people has always been fine. When Tikal and his friends returned to the kitchen with these thoughts in mind...

As if to dissolve it, a white mist enveloped the area...

Before you know it, the gatherings and conversations at the store fade away, and eventually the fog thins out... There is only the Master Emerald, which flickers slowly as if asleep, and the ruins of its altar.

And when even the lingering scent, which had no place to go, disappeared, a heavy silence filled this paradise ruins.

"Everything disappears..."

Angel Island, which was supposed to be floating in the sky, has descended to the ground, and a mysterious white mist surrounds the altar, creating a mysterious scene...

Tikal and Chaos work in a happiness that is far from the reality of the past. Knuckles and Chao are good friends. Was the fleeting paradise I had just seen real or a dream?

Judging from the atmosphere of the store, it doesn't seem to be a vision of the time when Tikal and his friends lived... but the mystery only deepens with the fog.

The more you know, the more new mysteries this world reveals.

(re: tags on rb'ed post) It's genuinely so wild to me that people don't know how to cook??? Obviously I don't fault anyone for it, you've got to learn and there's no shame to it, I just really thought everyone had some degree of culinary knowledge until I was like twelve.

Anyway, what are your favorite vegetables to cook with? Favorite summer recipes? Favorite pasta recipes if you've got them? I need new recipes to try :)

exactly, I don't want to fault anyone on it either!! we have to acknowledge the diverse backgrounds we have, levels of privilege etc--and i do also think with that comes, what do we assume as normal just bc it's our experience? and so it's so important to hear from other people. i find a lot of asians and women such as myself learn how to cook from a very young age just like you did, and then assume everyone else does too (i didn't realise most of my friends didn't do their own laundry either all through high school).

anyway in response to your question: I love cooking with eggplant, capsicum, sweet potato, potatoes in general, sweet potato leaves, basically every kind of legume and all the products people make from them, tomatoes, all kinds of herbs (but the italian mix is my favourite) as well as an assortment of asian vegetables and melons that someone in my family always procures and has too much of!! i also love to add ginger to any recipe i feel like is missing its meatiness, green/spring onions go really well with a lot of things and so do raw red onions or cooked brown onions!!

pasta wise i love everything pasta. a pasta bake is a go to one for me as i make a good white sauce and my sisters and i all love it!! lasagna is cool but a bit more time consuming so it's been ages. otherwise anything spaghetti bog/with meatballs (specifically the ones i make from Beyond Meat, water crackers, carrot, onion and spices) is good and i eat it with green beans! it's also super quick bc pasta sauce is like $1 for a big bottle where i live and you just pour it on your spaghetti or pasta. i also love all things ramen (both the curly type and the more expensive straight organic japanese one, they also have other noodles called udon and soba that you literally just boil for 5mins and have with sprouts or smth and olive oil and it's delicious). i do love mac and cheese when i get a good vegan cheese but it's pretty hit and miss on that.

and as for summer recipes i'm a big smoothie gal!! pack it with protein powder and chia seeds and coconut water for electrolytes and ice cream for fun but i love mango/banana, pineapple/papaya, mint/spinach/coconut, mixed berry, sometimes i'll shake it up and do orange/papaya or smth!! i love all the bright colours and how creamy they are if you have a good banana or mango or papaya or just really creamy soy milk. also love anything with watermelon+mint (my sister makes a really good salad with it and cos lettuce, olives, cucumber and baby tomatoes i believe). also my beyond meat meatballs go well on a skewer dipped in guacamole for the summer nights where it's light right up til bedtime!

Have you met her dad? She LOVES to dance!! not sure she has a certain/favorite dancemove and just gets jiggy with it, but I suppose she doesn't mind the cupid shuffle! It's the only dance she can really do that her siblings follow along with!

[a gift arrives to amy's current doorstep! it seems to be a carefully wrapped box with an assortment of unovan sweets inside; buried deep within it are two bottles of mead; a very standard mead, and what seems to be one with a small kick of figy berry spice.

"Happy Palentine's Day, Dad! Heehee, I couldn't pass up the chance to send ya this when I saw they had it in the lil Cafe I've been frequentin', and I managed to score ya a few bottles!

Blueberry Academy's been treatin' me real well--I don't think I got the chance to tell ya, they're lettin' me oversee a project about introducin' Orthworm into one of the Biomes and I'm so! Heckin'!! Excited!!! It's a small project right now, but I'm so determined to see this through and make sure these worms can thrive out here, and coexist with everything here too! It's givin' me a lot of good research too, and Blueberry offers no real shortage of experiences here on the daily.

Lulu's been doin' great, but you should really see Bouton now! The lil guy's comin' into his own so well! Coriander's been gettin' started on some work becomin' a physical therapy Pokemon, and I've never been more proud of her! Soba's been a delight--I don't think you've met him yet, I gotta introduce you to this guy, and I got a Huntail attached to me (long story) I'm considerin' raisin'; she's a sweetie, real lovebug, though I'm a lil worried about raisin' a whole new type of Pokemon for sure. Like I said, though; no shortages of experiences here! That's for dang sure!

I definitely gotta come visit again at some point! Especially since there'll be less harrowin' circumstances!!! If you ever happen to swing by Blueberry, please please please lemme know! Honestly I can't even say how proud I am of you! this is a huge project to be taken on, even if you say that it's a small think, take it from an ecologist, I know well the work and research it takes to introduce a new species to an established ecosystem- even an artificial one. Don't downplay your achievements, dear, they're something to be proud of. I can see already that you're going to have quite the promising career in whatever direction that this leads you.

You know that you're always welcome at the lab, and I would love to see you. I know it's been a long while but I am finally back in goldenrod, maybe i can take you to that cafe you like again when you have the time. :) I would love to sit down and hear about all of the updates with the team and these new members as well! New Pokémon SV Oc game; what foods does your character eat from each restaurant/stand? (Based on the meals/snacks in the game’s eateries)

Asher naturally has a large appetite, so the amount of food he chooses tends to be large. Usually two meals plus a dessert unless the selection isn’t that huge or there’s not much variety in portion sizes/types of food. He isn’t quite picky, so he tends to order a pretty wide variety of foods.

He tends to eat these large meals when he’s eating by himself, as they do get pretty expensive at times… If he were with others, he’d probably have only one portion and pretend to be full halfway only to finish it at home immediately.

Tokyo

Japan air flew me like a special guest to Tokyo, a delightful transportation in the air. When I arrived, I had no real idea of how to get around, nor had I any Japanese in the lexicon (if only) - so anything like beer and soba noodles would grasp towards comfort.

Call me cringe, but there was something magical about eating Japanese food in Japan. Though I did only had a brief gesture, a taste or morsel if you will, it encouraged a more detailed dive into food there. Hiromi had told me about a miniature car racetrack that they had inside of the airport, but unfortunately it wasn’t open late, so instead I sat on the Haneda observation deck in the rain and watched the planes takeoff. In the gate there were a deluge of people waiting to board to Singapore too, I sat with a family while their kids made up games to play with their temporary terminal friends. “I like to learn but I don’t like school, I like to read but I don’t like books,” one of them riddled. I sipped on a Japanese electrolyte drink and smiled at them as they laughed. 

Helsinki

Helsinki is a strange aura, in the airport at least… people at customs are very nice and all have healthy silver blonde hair. I am looking around a while, finally settling at a bar on the observation deck; I talk with the man at the bar, estimating an expensive cocktail about to be billed. Aspiring for a Finnish Vodka martini, and settling for a gin & tonic with Juniper berries, the bartender and I exchange some broken English pleasantries before I sit down and draw.

Lisbon

After about one and a half days of transit, the eventual arrival to destino Lisboa was a relief. I would walk to the bustling metro station conveniently placed 100 metres or so from the airport and try to find myself a ticket. There was a palpable stickiness to the air underground, and feeling the atmosphere inside the train grew a distant unknown. Embarrassingly I had forgotten the PIN number on the debit card I have had for half a decade, which only left me with about €50 until further notice. I would buy anything I could online, guessing items from the images with the websites all in Portuguese… Before I reached the hostel, four men on the street offered to sell me weed and cocaine (sure it was…). Oversharing, I explained that even if I wanted to, I only had €20 in cash to last me for some days and I had no access to other money. Also a heavy bag on my shoulders and way finding eyes. 

Having passed metrics of time and space now, eaten a yummy tomato and cheese baguette and 2 pastel de nata, and snapped images of old fountains - I was tired. I think I stepped over 20,000 this day and finally made it to the ‘Good Night’ hostel (phew). I listened to the sounds of the accordion on the cobblestone street from the balcony, it felt like a shift in time. 

Waking Life

In the morning, I would arrange to meet two people from the meta verse to share a car out to a 6 day festival in the Portuguese countryside (Crato). Miguel from Porto, Harry from Glasgow, and myself found each other at the aeroporto before getting picked up in an Uber, and taken for a loooong drive in context. I think it was about 200km, with 20km of that being unsealed and dust-cloud birthing abaft our bumper. 

The festival was lush (to put it lightly), and impressed with the natural mounded structures, bamboo assemblage, stage designs, and the lake (c/o mother nature, not WL of course…). There were bridges built, pontoon ferries across the lake (and if you’re lucky, with little chaperone children helpers), nests, treehouses, safe spaces, shade structures, a cinema, and regenerative forests. If one was to dream, i’m sure they would find some common ground with this festival. 

Personally, I spent lots of time reading, swimming, dancing, and listening. Some musical highlights were Donna Leake, ADAB, Cosmo Sofi, Greg Foat, Baba Sissoko & Jean-Philippe Rykiel, Daphni, ALABASTER DEPLUME, Mark Ernestus Ndagga Rhythm Force, Zozo, Palms Trax, Aleksi Perälä, and Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra. The music didn’t stop the whole time, so there was lots that missed too.

Flying a kite really high next to the music at the Praia stage provided a moment of bliss, watching others get lost in the hypnotic floating in the sky, the wavering dance, it made others smile which made me happy. There was a lot of gentle motion throughout the week; beauty in stillness, and comparative liberation through movement. Learning from each other was another noticeable effort, space being allocated to apuoro - where generous a exchange of lessons culminated around topics of dream and sensation. Specifically I enjoyed learning about reversing and remembering dreams, which has sent me on a path since. 

Another special moment was in approach of the Má Estrela set (contemporary Portuguese experimental jazz{?}). The curiosity was well and truly high in the soundcheck, in fact, only few could distinguish what was going on. I sat next to this man as he rolled some sort of smoke, he was British and we had polite conversation. On my other shoulder was a mademoiselle whom seemed to know about the band upcoming. “I’m not sure if you’ll like it…” she said throwing caution, I said “We’ll see” and we sat alone but together in observation and listening. Experiencing waves of synthesis, saxophone, drone, and erratic drums in very different ways I predict, we tilted our heads with different signatures. The British man could not handle the jazz, and left before the first song would conclude. Following the set, it seemed like there was the world to talk about with my neighbour, so we stayed in each others space together for some moments to unfold our introspections.

Somehow I’m being used as a whipping post for wayward witchy types in the mindscape. Little, peaceful hearted, and mentally disabled (amnesia / stroke), fighting the juggernaut of end-times castoffs.

In between the chaos, I managed to do more writing on my I Ching guide and went out to NSK for groceries with Mom and Dad. I had cream soda with berry yogurt for a snack. Tonight, I’m making soba noodles with lettuce and fried fish tofu (from a packet).

To all those injured in the good-evil fight, I’m sorry but nobody’s perfect. At times I get nervous and freak out as the nonsensical stabbing pains and rotting escalate.
