Wanted to rec some other fantasy manga i've been reading.

Here are the one i recommended last time being, dungeon meshi, witch hat atelier and Soara and the monsters house. (with a special shout outs to soara since that one caught me off guard with how good it is)

And now i want to rec some other fantasy manga that im caught up with:

Mamayuyu -

A battle manga about a young man who was adopted by the demon lord "mamama" who lives in a world where monsters and demons live in harmony with eachother, before heroes and demon lords from other worlds start invading his world. Alot of the story so far is focused on him trying to find the meaning in being a hero in a peaceful world.

Its currently ongoing and weekly, however since its in jump its also has a high likelihood of getting axed, so at least keep an eye on this one.

Erio and the electric doll -

A girl love and adventure story about a girl and an electric doll going on an adventure so that the doll can experience the outside world.

Its currently ongoing and monthly, though it appears to be in somewhat of a hiatus.

Frieren at the funeral -

An adventure story about an elf and her party coming home after the defeat of the demon king after a 10 year long adventure. Most of the story so far is about the elf grappling with the passage of time and making the most of it. With the central plot being her going on another adventure with the apprentices of her former party and dealing with the remnants of the demon kings army.

Its currently ongoing and has an anime adaptation.

The girl from the other side

A manga about a girl and a beast named "teacher" living together in the middle of a forest. i would say more but this one is one better read blind.

Mashle -

A gag and battle manga that stars a boy with no magic in a magical world enrolling in a magical academy and having to conceal his identity from others. Its like harry potter but well written and not made by a transphobe.

i did these during Dai no Daibouken's remake (a delight) run during 2020-2022-ish (?). Dai is one of my favourite things ever, but i just didn't want to make just any fanart. also these kept me busy during the pandemic. i seriously made so many mistakes with these, stuff that i didn't saw while i was making them, but the desire of reworking them has left me. vector work is slow and tedious, but it's my fave media of it all. i also never finished this project, as i'm missing Vearn/Mystvearn.

Manga Recommendation: Soara and the House of Monsters

So with the popularity of fantasy series that are actually pretty hard fantasy and not just isekai fantasy in manga and anime recently. Particularly, series like Dungeon Meshi, Frieren, and Witch Hat Atelier, I wanted to personally spotlight a lesser known series in that same high fantasy genre that gave me a similar vibe. Soara and the House of Monsters

So the premise: Soara is an orphan who was raised to do battle in a war between man and monsters, but never got the opportunity to before peace was declared. Without a purpose in life, she meets a dwarf, Kirik, who builds homes for monsters. Displaying the gorgeous/imaginative art of the series.

Each "arc," if you want to call it that, often involves Soara and Kirik's party coming across a stereotypical fantasy race and their often run down or depressing lair where they can live. Kirik resolving to then build that creature their dream home. This is because monster have been motivated to steal from humans because what they desire is a home. Comfortable accommodations instead of the squalor they're trapped in. Through building these homes, Kirik makes a place where they can be happy and avoid trying to take from humans.

Now if that sounds a little like discussing how people are inclined to do bad things when society may not allow them to have a comfortable place in life, that's because it is. Despite its comedic tone, a key component of the series is Soara herself coming the grips with the prejudice that was instilled into her as someone raised to fight against monsters. But also her own hang ups of not having a home to call her own.

While I won't say it pushes the envelop of fantasy manga like the artistic tour de force of Witch Hat Atelier or the melancholic beauty of Frieren, it's still a creative fantasy series with likable characters with some great art. Following a compelling protagonist as she both has her comedic moments, badass moments, and moments of decoupling the prejudices that were instilled into her. Soara and the House of Monsters is a great little series.

First volume has already been translated officially, so you can pick it up from any book store or site.

If Soara joins Anju I’ll stop financially supporting the group for a while. She’s tall and beautiful so she would be a visual but ANGERME has visuals, they need to keep up their standard of vocal and dance. I don’t want them to turn into another FukuSaku era Morning Musume where 2-3 girls sing all the time because everyone can’t sing.

I have to say, I finally picked up the Jedi Quest series and yikes on trikes, nothing on EARTH could prepare me for how desperately I want to pick 14-yr old Anakin up and just shake him.

Every single time this kid opens his mouth, he shoves his foot in it.

On the one hand, could it be the inconsistent writing and the target age-range limiting the narrative? Sure. Does it make Anakin any more likeable? Absolutely not.

In other news, I would die for Tru, Darra, and Ferus. They are *adorable.* And Siri slow-roasting Obi-Wan over an open flame at any given opportunity is my new favourite thing.

I'm actually surprised there are people who believe Wei Wuxian don't love Jiang Cheng and his action of saving him is just out of debt. First of all, its a "Duty vs What They Actually Felt" conflict. My favorite type of story conflict trope btw. Just because they care about their duty didn't mean they never cared for each other.

Yunmeng shuangjie have genuine friendship during childhood. Its just their relationship became more complex as they became older because Jiang Cheng will become the sect leader and Wei Wuxian as shixiong is expected to support his shidi. That's their obligation or responsibility as part of Yunmeng Jiang sect. When Jiang Cheng became the sect leader, it become hard for him to continue supporting Wei Wuxian's hero journey (yeah, he used to support Wei Wuxian in a way he used to clear up the other's mess while complaining according to Wei Wuxian himself) because he has people on his back now (Also, his wound still raw and has strong hatred too toward the Wens as a whole/he also dont know what the Wen Siblings did to help them because its a secret) while Wei Wuxian is thinking about the debt toward Yunmeng Jiang sect and Wen Siblings. Their duty became too much to them so their true feelings are overshadowed by it but they still care about each other. Wei Wuxian defect from Yunmeng Jiang to protect them while helping the Wen Remnants and Jiang Cheng tried to persuade Wei Wuxian to return to Yunmeng Jiang once he's done helping the Wens so he can be safe.

If I think about it. Xianle trio of TGCF has similar conflict, teenager Xie Lian treat FengQing like close friends despite how FengQing continue to do their servant/guard tasks for him so it make sense why from Xie Lian's perspective, he don't understand why his friends will leave him even if he treat them kindly because he has this ideal frienship image in his mind. But from FengQing's perspective, they are still not equals so they think their current relationship will not work out because they are below Xie Lian similar how Wei Wuxian start to view his relationship to Jiang Cheng as he became older. He start to think about his debt to Yunmeng Jiang sect even if he still care about Jiang Cheng like a brother. Jiang Cheng and Xie Lian are both similar in a way they are the one who's above the hierarchy and don't understand why the other will leave them.

The two just have different development. Yunmeng Shuangjie's ending is a closure to partways. Jiang Cheng still care about Wei Wuxian so he let him go and be free from debts. Wei Wuxian still care about Jiang Cheng so he gave his own golden core as part of debt and get updates from Jin Ling about Jiang Cheng sometimes. On the other hand, Xianle trio's separation is a beginning of friendship because they are finally equals. All of them are gods now.

I guess what I love about Yunmeng Shuangjie and Xianle Trio story is it tells us friends come and go. Their life don't revolve around you forever unlike lifetime romantic partner and that's okay if they leave or stay. What matters is we treasured those memories together and what we learned from them. I just hate how loving platonic relationships in this story and loving the romance of main couple divided the fandom. Its annoying that Jiang Cheng and FengQing are villainized. But well, I did listened to SOARA's songs where they usually reminscing how friends partways after graduation and because of the different paths they take in life so that's probably why I have a different take. One of my bestfriend also tell me how its hard to make new friends in workplace because of the hierarchy and competition whatnot so its probably similar to that.

I plan on keeping this updated month to month as a way to get myself back into the habit of being hardcore into the Tsukipro life. With the additional effect of making me happy if anyone found this useful in any way shape or form. All the titles are copied straight from the main sites so also easy to copy paste those into album info or anything needed.

This includes album releases, Blu ray/DVD releases, anything really that's a form of media to buy and consume.

The only shame is that the images had to be embedded in so no way to link to high-res cover art for anything. I didn't wanna add too many links to this page to make it hard to load either so it's really the most bare min I could get it.
