Baby 🩵: Hi Princess, my flight just landed. Hope you’re still at my place. I really need you right now.
You: Hi baby, of course. I can’t wait to see you 😘.
His assistant had already sent you the time that his flight was going to arrive at Heathrow so you were already awake, getting everything ready for him. Starting off, you make him a full brunch bowl of ackee with tomato, garlic mushrooms, cinnamon coated plantain with charred corn and toasted sourdough. Your passion had always been cooking but since your relationship with Lewis began, you spent more time working on vegan based food that the both of you can enjoy.
As his plate is in the warmer, you freshen up and get the bath salts and rose petals ready. Considering that it was only 3:43pm, you decide that it was a justifiable time to get your stash box out. Blue Dream was already in your grinder and after the weekend, Lewis had - this was something that he was going to need. You roll two joints and place them back on your rolling tray.
Once everything is prepared, you walk back to the living room and just as you sit down, you hear the chiming of the security system.
“Princess!” You hear Lewis call out for you. You hop up from the couch and run towards the foyer. Seeing your face causes a tired smile to spread across his lips and he opens his arms. You jump into them and wrap your legs around his waist.
“Hi my baby.” You whisper against his cheeks as you place kisses all over his face repeatedly causing him to chuckle as he tightens his arms around you.
“Hi.” He mumble back as you finally capture his mouth. “Mmm.” He hums as your lips move passionately against each other. You giggle into the kiss as his hands move to your ass and cup the flesh into his palms.
“I missed you.” Lewis sighs as he pulls away.
“I missed you too.” You reply as you get down from his waist and bring your hands to his face and you begin caressing his cheeks. He curls into your touch which causes your heart to melt. “Let’s get you settled in.” You tell him.
As he was eating, you wall back to the bathroom and prepare the tub and you turn on the jets to keep the water warm. Once everything is ready, you call for Lewis to come to the bathroom.
“Can you get naked for me?” You instruct. Lewis smiles at you as he begins to strip from his travelling clothes. Before the soak in, the both of you take a shower where you are washing him. This is the best part of your day. You love taking care of Lewis.
Getting to do this for him is one of your favourite ways to show Lewis how much you love him. With you, he just gets to let you take care of him.
Then you got into the bathtub, with a few candles lit and music playing in the background. You’re sitting on his lap with your thighs on each side as you bring the joint to your lips and spark it alight. You can feel his eyes on you and it warms your body far more than the water.
“You know I shouldn’t be smoking that.” Lewis muses as you take in your first inhale. You exhale the smoke over his face and you smile as he blinks through it.
“Your next race is in over a week. You’ll be fine.” You reply as you bring the joint to his lips. He takes a couple of puffs, inhaling the smoke and letting it settle in his chest before he exhales. You places the joint down and wraps your arms around his neck.
“Your presence is so calming.” Lewis compliments.
“Me or the sativa?” You ask with a quirked eyebrow.
“Both.” Lewis chuckles. He wasn’t much of smoker anymore so he is feeling the effects of the weed a lot faster than you are. You’re already halfway through the first joint thus seeing his reaction to it is a little hilarious.
As you speak, Lewis lays kisses on your chest and caresses the skin of your back.
“How have you been baby? Talk to me.” You say as your thumbs lightly brush the back of his neck.
“Since the announcement, I feel like there’s been this bad energy hanging above my head.” Lewis confesses which causes you to pout.
“Awe baby.”
“I’ve always been the one to pick everyone’s spirits up at the factory. But for the past couple of years, I feel like no-one is really having my back.”
“I know they’ve been with you for close to thirty years now but with them, you know that the only loyalty they’ll know is to the check that pays them.” You explain. “But at the end of the day, you made the best business decision for you. Don’t let anyone on that team make you feel bad about that when they chose what they think is the best for them.”
“You really think I made the best decision?” He asks you as he licks his lips, looking up at you.
“We’re not even halfway through the season, alongside me, there are millions of your fans who would agree with me that you indeed make a good business move.” You lean forward and place a soft kiss on his jawline. “2025 is going to come and you’re going to show them why they fumbled the baddest bitch to ever do it.” Your last statement causes Lewis to laugh.
“The baddest bitch huh.” He raises his eyebrow as watches you take a hit from the second joint. You shift your body so that you press your back against his chest and he takes the joint away from you and takes a puff.
“You’re right though. I can’t keep feeling guilty about the car’s poor performance and taking it onto my shoulders when they barely do that for me.”
You hum in agreement as you stroke his arm, drawing patterns nonchalantly over his tattooed skin. “You’re bigger than the sport. When you leave, they’re going to be nothing without you.”
“I love the way you gas me up.” He chuckled as he leans down and places kisses along the length of your shoulder.
“Not only are you the undisputed goat of the sport, you’re my man. It’s a part of my duty to make sure that you never forget that.”
Lewis continues to place kisses on your neck and shoulder with his arms wrapping around your front. You sit there in silence for a while as you share the joint, just holding each other and enjoying the music in the background.
“You got any projects coming up?” He asks you. That was the end of the previous conversation, which is fine with you. Recently, you’ve began to hate speaking about Formula One. It has become draining for the both of you - which is telling because, you’re Lewis’s girlfriend, witnessing everything from the sidelines. You couldn’t possibly imagine what it feels for Lewis to be living in it.
“I’ve been curating some pieces for some people to add onto my blog. I’m helping to style Megan in a few days so I’m really excited about that. Oh! And the readers really love when I upload the pieces I’ve done for you.”
“You should just be my full time stylist at this point.” He states as he passes you the joint.
“Hell no.” You immediately answer. “I love you and I love styling you but you take a lot of work - you’re a perfectionist and that’s annoying especially when I know what works for you and what the girls want but you argue with me.” Rolling your eyes at the end, a move that causes Lewis to laugh.
“I know what I like.” He shrugs his shoulders.
“And I know what you need. Fashion is more than putting a good two piece on.”
“Okay, okay.” He relents as his quiet laughs vibrate through you.
“Would you even pay me?”
“I would pay you and then some. Even give you some special favours.”
“Oh? What kind of special favours?” You enquire even though you know what type of favours they would be. Lewis turns you back to face him. You position your legs on each side of his waist. You could feel his soft cock against your inner thigh but you weren’t going to turn your attention to that. You’re more focused on how faded he looks, how faded the both of you are.
His eyes are sitting low, his beautiful lashes nearly touching his cheeks with a slow smile playing on his lips as his hands go under the water and settle on your ass.
“You’d get to be with me more.” He begins but you interject.
“I’m practically with you all the time as it stands.”
“Yeah.” Lewis mumbles before tucking his head into your neck and nibbling on your skin. “I’d get to touch you, you’d get to touch me. Whenever and wherever.”
You bite on your lip and then you begin to feel his fingers curling and gripping into the flesh of your ass to pull you closer.
“Oh, I like the sound of that.” You take the joint from the rolling tray to take a big puff and then grab him by the jaw before exhaling the smoke into his mouth and put the joint back down. Lewis lets out a light grumble as your hand curls around the back of his neck and you pull him forward to meet his lips.
You moan into his mouth as his tongue swirls around yours as you continue making out. Lewis’s hand travels up the length of your back, putting pressure on you so that your chest is pressing against his. You nibble on his bottom lip, pulling it into your mouth as your manicured nails dig into his shoulders.
Lewis moves his head so that your lips don’t part any further and one of his hands grips one side of your head, keeping you in place as he makes love to your mouth. You sigh softly as rushes of pleasure shoot up and down your spine before settling in your abdomen.
You love the way he kisses you. It completely consumes you every time. The way his mouth moulded against yours, his tongue entangling with yours, his fingers exploring your body like it was the first time.
Itching to be closer to him, in an act of frenzy - you grind your hips forward. His dick begins to harden beneath your thighs but you’re too enthralled with the way he’s kissing you. It sends shivers down your spine. Lewis’s jerk upwards when you roll your hips again which causes you to giggle and finally pull away from the kiss.
“I think this bath has done what it needed to do. I need you in bed. Now.” His voice is low and full of arousal and your thighs clench at how deep his voice has gotten. He slaps the side of your breast which causes you to squeal.
You jump out of the water and reach for the drying towels.
“Drop those towels Princess. You’re not going to need it for what we’re about to do.”
ru’s letters 💌: let me know what you think. also would you like these type of one shots where it’s just a scenario? 💋

[ID: A thick white stew topped with a symmetrical pattern of fried garlic, minced parsley, and 'meat' chunks in a bright blue bowl. End ID]
كرناسة / Karnasa (Palestinian yoghurt and rice stew)
Karnāsa, or لَبَنِيَّة ("labaniyya") is a Palestinian dish of short-grain rice cooked in لبن ("laban") and topped with a tadka of fried garlic. "لبن" in Palestine refers to لبن زبادي ("laban zabādi,") or thickened sour milk (aka yoghurt). Laban is used to make a variety of sauces that are served with meat dishes, stewed vegetables, and maḥshis (stuffed dishes); it may also be strained and preserved as labna. Past batches of laban are traditionally used as a starter to ferment new batches from fresh milk.
Karnasa may be made plain, or with fried cauliflower or green beans; the latter variation, called لبنية الفول ("labaniyya al-fūl," labaniyya with beans) is often eaten during the winter.
It is an older custom to prepare karnasa in the morning, then serve it with meat as a lunch forعِيد اَلْأَضْحَى (Eid al-Adha), the Festival of the Sacrifice. Eid al-Adha celebrates the willingness of إبراهيم (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son at God's command: the أضحية ("uḍḥiyah"), or sacrifice of livestock, occurs accordingly on the first day of the three-day festivities. Families may purchase livestock—often goats or sheep—and share the meat with neighbours, friends, and extended family.
Karnasa is sometimes served alongside khubbiz tabūn, a fermented flatbread, which is torn and dipped into the stew. In this recipe, the robust sourness of the flatbread melds with the tangy, creamy yoghurt and tender, savory seitan to produce a satisfying meal that's delicious hot or cold.

Ingredients:
Serves 4.
For the dish:
1kg (4 cups) vegan yoghurt (لبن زبادي)
1 Tbsp cornstarch
190g (1 cup) Egyptian rice, or other short-grained rice
225g (8oz) meat substitute such as seitan chunks; or cauliflower
1 Tbsp kosher salt, or to taste
1 cup vegetable stock, or 'meat' stock from cube or concentrate
1 Tbsp olive oil, for frying
Parsley or dried mint (optional)
For the tempering (ṭsha / طشة):
1/2 head garlic, chopped
3 Tbsp olive oil
For best results, use a thick yoghurt such as soy or coconut, rather than a thinner one such as almond.
To make your own cultured cashew laban, follow my cultured vegan labna recipe, but double the amount of water and skip the pressing in cheesecloth step.
Instructions
1. Rinse your rice once by placing it in a sieve, putting the sieve in a closely fitting bowl, then filling the bowl with water; rub the rice between your fingers to wash, and remove the sieve from the bowl to strain. Fill the bowl with fresh water and submerge the rice to allow to soak for 30 minutes to an hour.
2. Whisk laban and starch together and heat in a thick-bottomed pot on low until simmering, about 10 minutes.
3. Add rice and stock and mix. Cook, stirring often, until the rice is fully cooked and the texture of the stew is a little thinner than what you want (it will thicken as it cools).
4. Meanwhile, heat 1 Tbsp oil in a skillet on medium. Fry meat substitute, stirring occasionally, until browned. Set aside.
5. Make the tsha: In the same skillet, heat another 3 Tbsp olive oil on low. Add garlic and fry, stirring often, until a shade lighter than desired. Remove from heat.
6. Stir in salt and tsha. Ladle into individual serving bowls and top with meat; or, cut meat into small pieces, add into the pot, and simmer another minute or two before serving.
7. Top with parsley or dried mint. Serve hot or cold, with flatbread.

happy birthday?

a little birthday fluff for the great explosion murder god <3
CONTENT WARNINGS - aged up!Bakugo x GN!Reader, cooking accidents (cutting and hitting hand with a meat tenderizer, almost setting kitchen on fire), minor flooding, no beta we die like men w/c - 1.1k
Katsuki wasn’t a fan of his birthday, he just didn’t care for it. Growing up, his parents would force him to go out to dinner with his family, seeing aunts and uncles he didn’t like, bratty little cousins that screamed through dinner and wiping his grandma’s gaudy lipstick off his cheek. He hated pretending to appreciate the presents they gave him, even though the gifts made it clear his family knew nothing about him. Kamui Woods socks, really Pop?
“I just want a night in with my partner, a’right?” He said when you asked him what he wanted to do this year. You were going to make it the best night in ever then. Spicy chicken katsudon for dinner (his favourite), purin for dessert (another favourite), and while you were making it all, he would be relaxing in the bath you had made for him, and after you had eaten, you were going to cuddle on the couch watching his favourite movies. It was going to be perfect.
But you were held back at work, taking away crucial hours needed to cook. Compromising by buying the purin instead of making it, you were stuck behind an older woman who insisted on paying for her groceries with loose change, counting them out loud as she placed each coin on the counter. Then you were caught in stand-still traffic after finally getting out of the store. While debating slamming your head through the windshield, hoping it would wake you up from this nightmare, your phone rang.
“Happy Birthday Kats!” you called cheerily as if you weren’t experiencing living hell at that moment.
“Thanks, baby,” he replied, sounding despondent. Your brow furrowed, staring down at your phone with concern as if the picture of him on the screen could see you.
“Is everything okay?”
“Yeah just… rough day. I’ll be home early ‘kay? Can’t stand another second reading through paperwork,” he grumbled, and you could almost hear his deep scowl. Your stomach dropped when you realised that meant you had even less time to prepare for his magical evening, but traffic was starting to clear, giving you a glimmer of hope.
“Of course baby, I’ll see you soon!” You legally raced home, barely giving yourself a moment before rushing to the bathroom and turning on the water. Running to the kitchen next, you tied an apron over your work clothes and began cooking. Your decision to make everything from scratch was, at the time, fueled by love, but now you were regretting it. Even the garlic had to be crushed by hand. Of course, more things had to go wrong though, a slip with a knife and a mash with the tenderizer, leaving your hand bleeding and bruised. Slapping the cutlet into the pan, you sighed- oh shit! The bath!
Running upstairs, you saw the water creeping into the hallway. Turning the water off and fetching a mop, you quickly started soaking up the mess. You filled up a whole bucket but not even half of the water was soaked up. Tipping the water into the now empty tub, the scent of smoke peaked over the damp smell of the bathroom. Sprinting downstairs, your wet socks made you slip as you rounded a corner, elbow smacking into the hard floor. Tingles shot up into your fingers as you hit your funny bone, but you had to ignore it along with the ache that accompanied it as you scrambled to your feet again.
The kitchen wasn’t ablaze, thankfully, but a concerning amount of smoke was rising from the pan. Sliding it off the burner didn’t do much, so you flipped the cutlet to get some heat off of it, to reveal not only the charred chicken breast but more smoke quickly rose from it. At the worst possible moment, the smoking alarm began blaring, the ringing piercing your eardrums. With shouts of frustration and calls for the device to shut up, you grabbed a teatowel and waved it in the air around the alarm. You were too short to reach the button to turn it off, but maybe if you got a broom or a mop- the bathroom!
In your panic of trying to decide whether to clear the smoke or to continue to mop the bathroom and hope the fire alarm would eventually tire itself out, the front door opened. With a clear look into the kitchen, Katsuki stood in the doorway, a briefcase containing his hero costume in one hand, grenade gauntlets in the other, watching you run around while waving a towel over your head. Your work clothes were unkempt, your hair a mess, a bandage on your hand and your soaked socks were leaving wet footprints on the floor.
When your gaze finally caught his, your shoulders slumped in defeat and the alarm stopped ringing as the opened door allowed smoke to escape. He dropped his stuff to the floor, taking slow steps towards the kitchen. You didn’t notice him cracking a smile as you looked at the disaster around you. Not wanting him to see your failure throughout the kitchen, you met him halfway.
“I’m so sorry Katsuki, I tried making katsudon but I burnt the chicken because I flooded the bathroom, and I had to buy the purin from the store because I didn’t have time to make it, and I know the gelatin one isn’t your favourite but it was all they had-” your ramble ceased when you heard the blonde hero begin to chuckle. Maybe it was because of the tears that brimmed your eyes, but his smile had him glowing. It was a sight you rarely got to see, his genuine laugh something you rarely heard, but both were beautiful. He reached for you, his strong hands on your waist, fingers digging into your sides as he tried to hold back his laughter.
“It’s okay, idiot,” he snickered as he pulled you into a hug. Your arms quickly wrapped around him, squeezing him close, almost sobbing into his chest.  “‘m just happy to come home t’ you.”
“I didn’t ruin your birthday, did I?” You asked quietly with a sniffle, almost afraid of the answer.
“Of course not,” he tsked, pulling back to look down at you as he still held you in his arms. Your palms lay flat on his chest, feeling his heartbeat steadily under your palm.
“Let’s order in instead, how’s Italian sound?”
“Great,” you sighed in relief. Katsuki’s soft palm cupped your cheek, thumb soothingly stroking the stressed bag under your eye. After a soft but quick kiss, he took your hand, squeezing it as his gorgeous smile morphed into his usual handsome smirk.
“Let’s go clean up that bathroom. And how about we leave the cooking to me from now on eh?”

Square Up
Pairings: Survey Corps x Reader - things they do that annoy you
Word Count: 1029
Warnings: none
A/N: You know what really grinds my gears? When people are cruising on the road at 8am. Bitch move over, I’m literally late for work 😭
Lol that being said, here’s some everyday routines where I think the guys would be most annoying.
Headcannons Masterlist
Eren - leaves the big pot to soak.
You’re thankful for the help you really are, but you’d be even more thankful if Eren didn’t half ass the job. Albeit some of those food stains are really stubborn and just refuse to move, but every time? Not even! One day you had put on a pot of water to bring some potatoes to a boil, eager to stuff your face with the fluffy goodness of your handmade garlic mashed potatoes. And sure enough when dinner was long gone there the pot sat atop the stove, unwashed, because it needed “to soak.” You get it, Eren hates doing the dishes but you might actually cry the day you walk into the kitchen and meet the sink empty. You've complained about it on occasion but truth be told it doesn't bother you as much as it used to. He's even gotten creative and started hiding the pots in the oven and you can't help but giggle, closing the door so as to keep his "secrets" hidden.
Levi - adds water to the empty soap bottle to make it last longer.
Levi lives a somewhat frugal lifestyle and it has everything to do with his upbringing. Thankfully he’s a lot less stingy than he used to be, but this habit in particular has been the hardest to kick; and you just about pull your hair out every time. It's not even like there's not enough soap to spare. It's mostly him getting the most use out of the lingering soapy particles as he can. Surely it no longer serves its protective purposes, no matter how sudsy the results are? You've  since learned to keep an extra bottle of personal soap in the cabinets for such a time, bringing it to the countertops once Levi has exhausted all efforts with the previous one.
Erwin - loud eater.
It’s not even an Erwin thing to be honest, it’s a people thing. Slurpers, suckers, gulpers, they can all get it. Cause why? The only people who can actively change the way they eat are the open mouthers, so you don't even waste your time with the Commander. Some background noise on the tv or radio can help you through most meals, but it doesn't stop your skin from crawling at the idea or pause in noise volume.
Connie - leaves a swig of juice left in the carton.
This one blows literal steam out of your ears because what was even the point. If an 8 ounce glass of orange juice was just poured and there’s 2 ounces left, just finish the damn thing. You’ve heard excuses ranging from he didn’t want to because then he’d feel bad for not leaving you any to he simply wasn't thirsty enough the last gulp; but none of those ever make it better. Connie still does this but makes an extra effort to hide the carton in the deepest part of the fridge for when he’s ready to finish its contents.
Jean - revs his engine loud as hell.
At first you thought it couldn't be helped until one day you had to borrow Jeans car to run a few errands. Then it all clicked. This mf wants to be seen. He wants people to know it's his engine with all that horsepower beneath the hood. He wants any chance he has to show off his sleek ride that he’s worked so hard for. Unfortunately it's all at the expense of your eardrums and now you only ride with Jean out of necessity. When you do ride with him, however, you make sure to roll all the windows up, not that it helps much.
Onyankopon - uses all the hot water after a shower.
While it is annoying you don't mind this one so much during the summer time or the night time. But it just about drives you nuts in the morning and during the winter months because not only are you now running late for work waiting for some hot water to kick in but if it doesn't in time, now you have to suffer through a cold and uncomfortable shower. You've since started looking up the benefits of a cold shower but none of them has outweighed your comfort. So you've started showering before him, dashing into the bathroom as soon as you even think he's about to get in there.
Reiner - sets his alarm but never hears it.
This one really does you in. You're not the lightest sleeper but you can definitely hear when an alarm is non stop ringing. You sometimes envy the deep sleep that Reiner manages to engulf himself in but then slowly remember that it's borderline dangerous. The only reason you don't throw a bitch fit is because y’all have similar work schedules, so the alarm also works in your favor. But he's definitely gotten the occasional pillow to the face or slap to the arm; not that he ever feels it.
Armin - gotta take a pic of every meal.
It's all about presentation with Armin. You can cook a pot of ramen noodles and he’d grab his camera if you fixed it up nice. Y'all are at dinner and the waiter brings the food by? Can't dig in until he has the perfect shot. Usually you don't mind, but his perfect shot takes at least four different angles and your stomach gets louder by the minute. You haven't found a way around this one just yet, so you instead endure the torture.
Floch - watches his tv with the volume level on ignorant.
Why must the house sound like a surround sound movie theater you’ll never know. Action movies you understand. You'll even bite for thrillers. But anything else? It’s definitely up for debate. You can literally step outside on the curb of the street and still hear the entirety of the movie playing. You assume the loud noise is so he can submerge himself in the plot of the film but you’re running out of different ways to tell him to turn that shit down. The new rule now is nothing on the screens past 7pm if he can't watch it at regular volume.

100 Witchcraft Tips in 100 Days!
Day 5 - Fresh vs. Dry Herbs
Tumblr media
Mabon is right around the corner and that means fall is upon us. It's time to harvest your gardens and restock and resupply on your herbs and plants. It's time to give thanks and to thank the earth for it's bountiful harvest. I wanted to take this time to say thank you to each and every one of you. This platform is a wonderful place and I'm overjoyed to be here sharing it with all of you. Thank you for following and supporting this blog.
What's the Differences?
Fresh herbs carry the same correspondences as it's dried counterpart; that much will never change. Dried is the standard, easy method of using herbs in a general sense. This could be in cooking, spell jars, sachets, incense, etc. Fresh herbs are typically harder to obtain, require patience, and have fewer uses. So why do some witches use fresh herbs you may ask? I've found through my own practice that using fresh herbs typically resulted in faster results while dried works better for long lasting spells. This may just be association though.
Spells for Fresh Herbs
Healing & Restoration - Bay Leaves, Rosemary, Thyme
Love & Attraction - Rose Petals, Lavender, Jasmine
Cleansing & Purification - Rosemary, Thyme, Lemongrass
Prosperity & Abundance - Basil, Mint, Parsley
Protection - Rosemary, Garlic, Basil
Luck & Good Fortune - Rose, Basil, Dill
Success & Achievement - Bay Leaves, Rosemary, Clover
Grounding & Balance - Cedar, Sage, Pine
Banishing - Garlic, Onion, Clove
How to Use Dried Herbs
In Kitchen Magic: You can use fresh herbs as well, however, dried herbs are on average much more potent and effective then fresh herbs.
To Anoint Candles: I've found using dried herbs typically sticks better to the candle when compared to using fresh herbs.
In Tea Blends: While fresh works for certain teas dry is ultimately your best bet when making an herbal tea.
In Bath Sachets: You could use fresh herbs, however I found dried herbs to soak up the water and release more of it's natural oils then fresh.
In Spell Jars: For long term spell jars dried herbs can minimize the risk for molding when compared to fresh herbs.

It’s 2045. Spring is here and the backyard garden is blooming. Bees buzz happily around you as you trot out with the watering can. Zebra swallowtail caterpillars are trudging along the pawpaw leaves, getting round and plump before their metamorphosis. Birds flutter above in the oak tree, babies chirping incessantly.
The garlic came in a little too well this year, but the neighbors are more than happy to take some - and send you off with their own extras. Someone brings up the zucchini incident and you all laugh a little, knowing you’re still trying to get rid of the damn things.
There’s a group of kids that come by every afternoon to see your goats. You swear the goats know, because they’ll all shift closer to the front and not five minutes later you’ll hear them running down the path. They always ask before they pet, and you’ve never yet said no. You were the same when you first saw them, so you’ve no place to judge; not that you would, really. They soak up the attention like dogs, stubby tails wiggling until the last kid begrudgingly heads home.
The rusting car in the field is their favorite climbing toy. It’s been years since you’ve heard the rumble of an engine. Summer is still, well, summer, but the three-degree days are limited and fall really feels like fall, not just a slight respite from the blistering heat. There hasn’t been a shooting in almost a decade now. When you head out holding your partner’s hand, the only response you get is smiles and fond greetings. You’ve started sketching again, just for the hell of it.
Your roomates are attempting to make dinner and so far haven’t set anything on fire, though they seem a little less focused on the stove and a little more absorbed in tormenting each other with terrible dish ideas. You let them banter for a bit before jumping in with spaghetti and marshmallows. Horrified stares quickly turn into hysterical laughter, and someone wisely comments that they might want to keep their appetites a bit longer. It’s nowhere close to perfect, and certainly not professional, but it tastes like home, and that’s all you need.
It’s not a perfect life, but it’s a good one. The world hasn’t ended yet. With any luck, you’ll make sure it stays that way; the harvest festival is coming, and those zucchinis are getting handed out to anyone in range.
to myself, 22 years from now: there will be another sunrise.

Youre telling me a shimp fried this rice soup? No.  But with your help it can, for just pennies a day. Today on the the Redwall Cookbook we're making Shrimp'N'Hotroot Soup.
(you may find the original recipe at the bottom if you’d like to follow along!)-
MY NAMES CROSS NOW LETS COOK LIKE ANIMALS
SO, “what goes in to a Shrimp'N'Hotroot Soup?” YOU MIGHT ASK
Unsalted butter
1 onion
2 leeks
Vegetable stock (or vegetable bouillon)
Milk
3 potatoes
Curry or chili powder
Salt and pepper
Pre-cooked shrimp or prawns
I also added parsley flakes and smoke paprika for serving. The recipe recommends crusty bread!
Crusty bread. Like garlic or a baguette.
Stale potato chips would prolly taste good if ur into that sorta thing.
AND, “what does Shrimp'N'Hotroot Soup taste like?” YOU MIGHT ASK
Of all the redwall dishes so far this one has the most distinct 'savory' flavor
Smooth, rich flavor
The veggies came out nicer than id thought and i think the simmering and then adding liquid let it seep in.
The seafood smells intense after an hour or so (serve immediately)
The powder and the milk kept separating and i wonder if stirring more or adding the milk earlier wouldve made it emulsify better?
You could strain and serve the contents without the soup part!
Would pair well with a smooth red wine and a 'naked' salad.
Shimp-shimp-shimp-shimp-a-doop
. Used almond milk where milk called for . Used curry powder . Used garlic bread
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Honestly feel free to just fuckin HEAP on the spices, in classic brit fashion, they have the tongues of arctic babies and you can barely taste the spice with the original portions given. The shrimp is understandably pre-cooked but as is they come out barely changed by the soup or spices, and if someone could tell me the reasoning behind not adding them earlier to soak up some of that good good stuff, id love to hear (genuine).
2 major points on this recipe; As its seafood, it does not keep well, you could maybe save it for later the same day. Beyond that youre playing with your life and it wont taste great. It is very fast to prepare (if you have prechopped veggies). Maybe 40 minutes from deciding to make it from having it in my belly, not counting veggie prep time as i did that the morning-of while reading.
So sorry for having this out late! I've been working on some projects like concept work for an upcoming indie TTRPG, commissions for folks DnD parties, and my own personal stuff. If it makes it up to yall, i did eat this on the 3rd of this month haha.
As much as I love seafood, unfortunately i dont make it much as its hard to store and can be finicky to prepare. This soup could be replaced with a few other centerpieces, or made vegetarian, but for how it is in the book- I give this recipe a solid 6/10 (with 1 being food that makes one physically sick and 10 being food that gives one a lust for life again. 5 being average)
🐁 ORIGINAL RESIPPY TEXT BELOW 🐁
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 large onion, chopped
2 medium leeks, washed well and chopped
1 1/2 cups vegetable stock (or 1 1/2 cups water and 1/2 cube vegetable bouillon)
3 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
1 teaspoon curry powder or chili powder, or to taste
Salt and pepper, to taste
8 ounces peeled, cooked shrimp or prawns, sliced if large
1 cup milk
Method:
In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onion and leeks and cook, stirring, until soft, about 5 minutes (do not let the vegetables brown).
Add the vegetable stock, potatoes, curry or chili powder, and salt and pepper. Cover and simmer until the potatoes are very soft, 15 to 20 minutes.
Add the shrimp and milk and gently heat. Serve with crusty bread.

cast iron
Bakugo Katsuki x Reader
Word Count: ~900
CW: none
~faqs~
You know Bakugo’s fallen in love with you the day he lets you wash his cast iron pan. He’s meticulous about the thing; a handed down, family “secret” that he only revealed after a year of dating to cook your anniversary dinner…
… not including the months it’d taken for him to randomly exclaim So are we together together or are we friends?! his face red and puffy as you’d blinked slowly, taking a moment to process his outburst. What do you want? you’d deflected, heart nearly beating out of its cage, to which he indignantly replied Nope. I asked first! Your achingly familiar laughter ringing in his pinkened ears as your assured answer brightened his gaze We’re together together… I hope? He’d rolled his eyes, that overwhelming sensation of longing tucked neatly away, his chest broad and exuberant as he scoffed Well obviously.
You hadn’t actually gotten to watch him cook—he’d surprised you by taking over your apartment while you were at work, perfecting the meal for your return—but you’d taken note of the soaking pan (all other cleaning already completed, of course) when you’d peeked into the kitchen.
“I can’t thank you enough,” you gush, salivating as the scent of the broth in your spoon wafts to your nose, “My entire place smells amazing!” “Yes you can,” he grunts You already do, the softest of a smile tugging on the corner of his mouth, “Eat.” Nose scrunching, you happily acquiesce, a tangle of lime, fresh chili, and coconut milk (plus a hint of fish sauce) melting warm on your tongue. You dip your spoon again, this time capturing a cute button mushroom, its fleshy underside soaked in flavor and heat as you take a contented nip. “How is it?” He tries to sound nonchalant, eyes hardly meeting yours, right hand clutching his own spoon with calculated casualness, but you know better. You’ve loved him for 365 days, after all. Bakugo doesn’t give a damn what people think, because Bakugo knows what he is and what he doesn’t aspire to be. But Katsuki? Katsuki cares, perhaps a little too much. “Delicious!” you declare, “Definitely spicy, but not unbearable. And there are so many subtleties… I swear it tastes different yet better with every bite.” “You’re so dramatic,” Katsuki snorts, grinning proudly nonetheless, eyes raising to feel your praise, acutely aware of how you might’ve just described him. — You spring up when you’re finished, determined to get to the remaining pan before he can, but you’re stopped almost as soon as the thought occurs. “Sit.” His voice is quiet, stress not veiled in the slightest. “But the-” “I’ve got it.” You pout for a second, arms crossing as you sit down, head shaking fondly at his protectiveness. “I know how to wash cast iron.” “So tell me why you don’t own a single cast iron pan,” he retorts. “High maintenance,” you quip, eyebrow raising pointedly. Grumbling to himself, Katsuki stands and clears the table, pressing a chastising kiss to your forehead before walking toward the kitchen. “Takes one to know one.” “Heeeyyy!!!!!”
The pan goes home with him in the morning—sometimes in the afternoon on a lazy Sunday—an unassuming tool of tenderness and self reliance. Katsuki, selflessly devoted. Bakugo, foreign to the touch of affection. You don’t feel half loved, nor do you feel that you love half a man (Bakugo Katsuki, for all of his faults, is a wonderful partner and admirable person), but you often wonder how he feels. As he scrubs at the buildup of grease and grime, clear water gradually turning murky, his reflection still visible as scraps of onion and garlic float to the surface… rinse. Repeat. Rinse. Repeat. Rinse. Repeat. How do you get a man who loves so deeply to see that same love shining back at him? A man so attentive and observant to the quirks and whims of his lover… and afraid to share his own, lest they be unwanted or unfulfilled.
Tumblr media
“Can you wash the pan tonight?”
You gawk. Not your finest reaction, but certain instincts can’t be avoided.
“I thought you knew how to wash cast iron?” Katsuki teases, pulse in his throat, “Or did you say that to impress me?”
“I…” you falter, unsure whether to continue tiptoeing or reach for him outright. He starts toward the kitchen, stare more guarded than you remember, and you blurt, “I figured you’d never ask.”
He freezes, indiscernible emotion clenching in his jaw. And then he chuckles. He chuckles and swivels to look at you, ruby eyes twinkling with uncharacteristic yet so beautiful shyness, tone rough like the homey crackle of a winter fire, soothed by the languid drip of honey into chamomile tea.
“Silly,” he rasps, your fingers curling around his waist, plates and silverware caught between your almost embrace, “I love you.”
He watches you scrub at breadcrumbs and spring onion, water practically scalding, and not a soap sud in sight. You work methodical and efficient, the pan hardly banging against the sink when you change angles and sections, each glance you direct his way brimming with amusement and adoration.
“I feel like I should pay you,” you hum, giving the pan its final rinse, “You’re basically my personal chef at this point.”
“Absolutely not,” Bakugo scowls playfully, poking your side before gently taking the cleaned pan from your hands, “This is more than enough.”

Tarragon
Alpha! Shouta x Omega! reader Winter Rut.
(I do not own My Hero Academia or the characters within. Anything associated with that fandom belongs to Horikoshi Kohei. This story belongs to my 2023 Spice-tober collection. I hope you enjoy. If this story isn’t your cup of tea, blend of spices, or brew of coffee move on. Reader discretion is advised.)

TW: Omegaverse shenanigans, sex scene.
WC: 844
You were wrapped up in a fluffy blanket front of a window in your log cabin, watching the snow fall outside, with a fire crackling away in the fireplace. You had your face pressed up against the glass as you could smell the cold, crisp scent of the snow outside. Your head turned to the front door when it opened, showing that your Alpha had returned home from a grocery trip. You ran over and gave him a hug before he could even take his shoes off.
“Missed me, didn’t you?” He asked as he hugged you and guided you out of the entry way so he could close the door and begin putting the groceries away with your help. As you put the bread and eggs away into the fridge, he checked the crock pot that he had prepared that morning with some white and red onions on the bottom, sliced up chicken that was previously frozen, a whole head of cabbage that had been chopped up, along with granulated garlic, paprika, bay leaf and tarragon that made the cabin smell amazing. He stirred the contents in the crockpot before putting some rice he bought from the store that day into the rice cooker along with some water and setting the machine to cook while he arranged the freezer for the new packages of meat that he purchased earlier in the day.
You sat in your chair and rested your head on the table as you watched your Alpha finish putting the groceries away and plating what he made for dinner. He walked over, setting plates of food in front of you and him, sitting down to finally eat. The two of you enjoyed the meal as you talked about your day.
Once the meal had been eaten, Shouta set the dishes in the sink to soak before he picked you up from your chair and carried you to his den in the living room where he laid you down on the thick, warm blanket and kissed you gently. You nuzzled into his neck and you could smell the scent of pine trees after a heavy rainstorm and hot coffee coming from his neck and filling your nostrils, making your brain go fuzzy with the underlying pheromones coming from his rut scent. “Alpha’s in rut. Do you need help?” “Would I have you in my den if I wanted to take this rut on alone? Of course I’d love to have your help.” He told you and kissed your neck, gently dragging his teeth along your sensitive flesh as it was exposed to slight draft of cold air. You gasped and gripped onto his shirt as a shiver was sent down your spine.
“I-I’ll help you. Just get me warm. Your den has a draft and I don’t like it.” You told him. He kissed you and fixed the wall of his den to not let any cold air in before he went back to leaving several bite marks all over your neck and shoulders. He worked his way down, easing you out of your blanket, letting you wrap your limbs around his torso, burying your face into his neck as he slid your sweatpants off along with your underwear, and he pushed them away from where you were laying. He looked back at you and kissed you gently, supporting himself up on his arms and sliding his erection into you and making quick work of thrusting in and out of you at a rapid pace, making you moan into his neck and grip onto his shirt as he rutted into you. You could smell the faint scent of the tarragon from the dinner on his skin which helped you relax more and let him thrust deeper into you, growling deeply into your ear. You came long before he did, making him smirk and keep thrusting into you until he released deep into your womb along with you cumming for a second time.
He waited a few minutes before he kissed you deeply and pulled out of you, laying next to you, and watching you come down from your high at your own pace. He pulled you close to his chest and you snuggled right into him. “You’re warm, Alpha.” You told him and he smiled. You looked out a window in his den at the snow falling outside calmly and in a peaceful manner with the fireplace crackling in the background. You felt your eyelids grow heavy and Shouta encouraged you to fall asleep as you were safe in his arms. You did so and he fell asleep soon after you did.
The End.

Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 peasant food is the best food in the world, in my opinion. My grandma grew up in Puerto Rico. The family was very poor so they learned to take humble ingredients and transform them into a delightful and delectable dish. The red kidney beans were made by making a sofrito of onions, green peppers, garlic, tomato paste, salt, and pepper. You then add the beans that have been soaking in water overnight to the sofrito. After adjusting the seasoning, the beans cook on low heat until they are tender. You serve them over white rice. This dish is sooooooo delicious that I would choose it over steak and lobster any day. Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 peasant food is spectacular. These beans taste so good that I don't even miss the meat. They are high in protein. It's a very healthy and nutritious meal. It is inexpensive and it's fantastic. I, highly, recommend learning to make great rice and beans. I'm gonna have another bowl. Mmmmmmmm ❤️ 😍😋😋 thems good eats 😉😋

Feast of Love [ Karina X Reader ]
Tumblr media
Y/N had a plan to surprise Karina and the other members by preparing their favorite dishes at the AESPA dorm.
👨‍🍳 Warning! Maybe you will be hungry after reading this story. 👩‍🍳
[ I like cooking, so I made this story after finding out what the aespa members' favorite foods are ]
GENRE : Fluff
TYPE : One Shot
Karina, the leader of the famous girl group AESPA under SM Entertainment, had a secret. She had a loving relationship with Y/N, who was not an idol but her biggest supporter. Only the members of AESPA and a few trusted people at SM Entertainment knew about their relationship. Today was a rare day off for the group, and Y/N had a plan to surprise Karina and the other members by preparing their favorite dishes at the AESPA dorm.
Before heading to the dorm, Y/N had cooked some of the dishes at home to save time and ensure the surprise remained intact. First on the menu was lasagna, Winter's all-time favorite. Y/N gathered all the necessary ingredients: lasagna noodles, tomato sauce with minced meat, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese.
Y/N started by sautéing onions and garlic in a large pan, filling the kitchen with a delightful aroma. Next, Y/N added the minced meat and cooked it until it changed color. Then came the tomato sauce, salt, pepper, and her favorite spices, all going into the pot. Y/N let the sauce simmer while tasting it to ensure it had the perfect flavor.
While the tomato sauce was simmering, Y/N boiled the lasagna noodles and allowed them to cool. Then began assembling the lasagna. Y/N started by spreading a little tomato sauce on the bottom of a baking dish, followed by a layer of lasagna noodles. Then layered it with the smooth ricotta cheese mixture and a generous sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
Y/N repeated this process several times until the dish was filled with tempting layers of lasagna, covered it with aluminum foil and placed it in the preheated oven. After 30-40 minutes, the mouthwatering aroma of lasagna filled the entire house.
Tumblr media
The final process of lasagna will be carried out in the AESPA dorm.
Next on the list were salad and seaweed soup for Giselle. Y/N carefully washed fresh vegetables, including lettuce, spinach, and carrots. Then chopped the vegetables into small pieces and placed them in a large bowl. Y/N also prepared some cherry tomatoes, washed and halved them.
Tumblr media
Y/N checked the dried seaweed Y/N had purchased earlier and soaked it in warm water for a few minutes until it became soft and expanded. Afterward, Y/N drained the seaweed and cut it into small, bite-sized pieces for the soup.
To start making the seaweed soup, Y/N brought vegetable broth into a large pot and heated it. Once the broth began to boil, y/n added the chopped seaweed and let it simmer for a few more minutes. Y/N also added finely chopped garlic, green onions, and a few drops of soy sauce to give the soup a savory flavor. The final touch is to add the baby clams to the soup After simmering for a while, the seaweed soup was ready to be served.
Tumblr media
While the seaweed soup continued to simmer, Y/N returned to the salad. Added the chopped vegetables to the large bowl, then continued by adding the fresh cherry tomato halves. Y/N also added the prepared seaweed pieces to the salad, providing a unique texture and a fresh, oceanic taste.
Tumblr media
For the dressing, Y/N created a simple mixture by combining olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar in a small bowl. Mixed the ingredients until they were well combined and then poured the dressing over the salad. Y/N gently tossed the salad in the dressing, ensuring that every vegetable was coated with the refreshing flavors.
Tumblr media
The next dish on Y/N's menu was Gamjatang, Ningning's absolute favorite. Y/N had purchased high-quality pork ribs and a variety of colorful vegetables, including potatoes, scallions, and kimchi. All the ingredients were fresh and vibrant on her kitchen table.
Y/N began by filling a pot with water and placing it on the stove. Once the water was boiling, she added the pork ribs, briefly blanching them to remove any unwanted blood and odor. Afterward, Y/N changed the water and added the sliced potatoes, scallions, and kimchi to the pot.
While everything simmered to perfection in the pot, Y/N prepared the Gamjatang seasoning. Y/N mixed gochugaru (Korean red pepper powder), soy sauce, finely minced garlic, ginger, and other spices in a small bowl. This mixture would give the Gamjatang its signature spicy and savory flavor.
When the ingredients in the pot had softened and released their fragrant aroma, Y/N added the prepared seasoning. carefully stirred everything, ensuring the seasoning was evenly distributed among the ingredients. After a few moments, the Gamjatang was ready to be served.
Tumblr media
The final dish Y/N prepared was Karina's all-time favorite, Tonkatsu. Y/N visited local Asian store and bought thin slices of quality pork cutlets. Y/N also gathered breadcrumbs, eggs, and a few pieces of cabbage to accompany the Tonkatsu. All the ingredients were fresh and of high quality.
Back at home, Y/N began by soaking the pork cutlets in salted water for a few minutes to remove some of the odor and enhance their texture. While waiting, Y/N sliced the cabbage into thin layers and set up a bowl with breadcrumbs on one side and a bowl of beaten eggs on the other.
After patting the pork cutlets dry carefully, Y/N coated them in breadcrumbs, making sure every side was evenly covered, then dipped them into the beaten eggs before giving them a second coating of breadcrumbs. The Tonkatsu was now ready for frying. Y/N planned to fry the Tonkatsu in the AESPA dorm so that Karina could enjoy it while it was still hot and crispy.
With all the dishes prepared, Y/N placed them in food containers and loaded them into her car. Y/N was ready to head to the AESPA dorm.
Upon arriving at the dorm, Y/N quietly slipped inside with the dishes to avoid waking the members. Y/N had previously informed the AESPA manager and obtained permission and a key to the dorm.
Y/N placed all the dishes in the kitchen and prepared to reheat the food and fry the Tonkatsu, luckily, AESPA dorm had a spacious kitchen for her to work in. Y/N retrieved the lasagna, removed the aluminum foil, and let it bake for another 10-15 minutes in the oven.
Tumblr media
Next, Y/N reheated the Gamjatang and seaweed soup that had prepared earlier.
While waiting for everything to be ready, Y/N readied herself to fry the Tonkatsu. Y/N heated the oil in a pan to the perfect temperature and carefully added the pieces of Tonkatsu. They sizzled as they met the hot oil. Y/N cooked them until they turned a beautiful golden color, ensuring the pork was cooked to perfection inside.
Tumblr media
Once the Tonkatsu was done, Y/N lifted them from the pan and placed them on paper towels to remove excess oil. At the same time, Y/N thinly sliced the cabbage, which would accompany the dish.
Y/N finally arranged the cooked Tonkatsu on a plate, placing the cabbage slices around them as a garnish. Y/N also provided a delicious Tonkatsu sauce for dipping. The Tonkatsu looked perfect, with a crispy outer layer and tender pork inside.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The increasingly irresistible aroma wafted through the house and began to reach the bedrooms of the members. It was then that Karina woke up from her morning slumber.
Karina rubbed her sleepy eyes, but then her senses were suddenly overwhelmed by the enticing smell of food. She sat up in bed, her eyes widening, and her drowsy expression turning into one of excitement.
With swift steps, Karina rushed to the kitchen, where Y/N was busy preparing the feast. "Y/N, what are you cooking?" Karina asked in amazement, her face lighting up with a wide smile. She embraced Y/N's broad shoulders and planted affectionate kisses on Y/N's cheeks and lips. Karina was taken aback by Y/N's surprise visit.
Y/N smiled and replied, "I'm making your favorite dishes."
Karina could only shake her head in disbelief, asking, "You made all of this? Doesn't this take a long time? Aren't you tired?" Karina couldn't believe her eyes. There was so much food prepared by Y/N, and it must have taken a considerable amount of time and effort.
"Not at all, it's your day off, so I decided to surprise you all with my cooking," Y/N said affectionately.
Karina, hearing Y/N's words, was overjoyed and touched by Y/N's love for them. She kissed Y/N once more, deeply appreciating Y/N.
Y/N then instructed Karina to wake up the other members. Karina, with a smile on her face, kissed Y/N again and hurriedly went to wake the other members.
Y/N efficiently arranged all the dishes on the dining table. Y/N took the lasagna out of the oven, allowing it to rest for a moment before cutting it into slices and placing them on the table.
Tumblr media
The same went for the Gamjatang, salad, and seaweed soup. Everything was neatly laid out.
All the members who had awakened were in for a surprise when they saw the spread. Winter, with joy, started to jump around as she spotted her favorite lasagna ready on the table. Giselle's eyes widened in astonishment as she saw the seaweed soup, and Ningning let out a joyful cheer at the sight of Gamjatang.
"Winter, this is your favorite lasagna," Y/N said with a warm smile.
Winter's face lit up, and she couldn't contain her excitement. "Y/N, you made lasagna for me? I love you!" Winter exclaimed, hugging Y/N tightly.
Giselle, with a gleam of appreciation in her eyes, looked at Y/N and said, "Wow, seaweed soup! You remembered! Thank you, Y/N!"
Ningning was practically dancing with joy as she stared at the Gamjatang. "I can't believe it! Gamjatang! You're amazing, Y/N!" she exclaimed.
Karina returned with the other members in tow, and they were equally surprised by the feast that awaited them. They all gathered around the table, and Y/N couldn't help but smile as watched their expressions of delight and gratitude.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With laughter and chatter filling the room, they all dug into the delicious meal Y/N had prepared. Each dish had been made with love, and it showed in the taste. They couldn't stop praising Y/N for Y/N culinary skills, and they knew that this morning's breakfast would be one of the most special meals they'd ever shared together.
As they ate, they shared stories, laughter, and tender moments. Karina couldn't have been happier to have Y/N as partner, someone who cared so deeply for her and her fellow members.

One of Those Days
Okay, fair warning, this was written in a rush and is largely unedited. And I might have made Frank Castle out of character since I don't have a firm grip on his character yet but @bellaxgiornata isn't having the best day and was looking for Frank fics.
This is only a very short one-shot but I hope it helps you feel better, Bella.
Well, got to get back to writing Alley Cat.
Summary: You have a bad day but Frank makes it all better.
Pairing: Frank Castle x Reader
Warnings: Fluff, Frank possibly being out of character
One of Those Days
You were having one of those days.
You had overslept and had been late for work. Your boss was in a fool mood and while he didn’t fire you for your lateness, he did yell at you in front of everyone. In front of her. That woman that shared your office space. The one who had taken one look at you, decided she didn’t like you, and proceeded to make your life miserable. Judging by the little smile on her face, she enjoyed watching you get humiliated.
You wanted to quit but you couldn’t. You needed this job. The rent wasn’t going to pay itself. So you swallowed your embarrassment, blinked back tears, and moved to your desk with as much dignity as you could manage.
Work was more tedious than usual. The computer had hiccup that corrupted the entire file you had been working on and forced you to re-do the entire thing. Which wasn’t difficult but was time-consuming. Which only irritated your boss further.
You ate lunch at your desk, trying to type with one hand while you ate with the other. And of course, ended up with mustard on your blouse. Somehow you managed to finish your tasks by the end of the day, which only earned you an annoyed ‘finally’ from your boss.
You had taken some pain relievers earlier but you could feel your headache sulking behind the medicine, threatening to turn into a migraine the moment said pain-killers wore off.
It decided to start raining when you were walking home. And not a little rain either. A massive downpour that had you soaked down to the skin within minutes. Because you had been in such a rush this morning, you had forgotten to grab your umbrella.
By the time you reached your apartment, you were tired, wet, cold, and really wanting to cry. Your hands were shaking so much that you couldn’t get your key in the lock. That was the last straw. You gave up fighting your tears and let yourself cry.
You didn’t know how long you stood in front of your door, bawling like a baby, before it swung open.
“Honey?” asked a familiar deep voice. Frank. Who wasn’t supposed to be back until tomorrow . . .
“Got done early,” he said, making you realize that you had said that outloud. “Thought I’d surprise you with dinner.”
Now that he mentioned it, you could smell the distinct odor of garlic and tomato sauce wafting out of your apartment. The thoughtfulness after such a terrible day did nothing to stop the tears but Frank seemed to understand that you were at the end of your tether.
“Come ‘ere,” he said, drawing you into a hug. He ignored your weak protests that you were going to get him wet, just wrapped his big arms around you and pressed you against his body. You gave in, buried your face against his chest, and sobbed.
Again, you don’t know how long you stood there. Frank didn’t complain, acted perfectly willing to stand there all day if that was what you needed. But when you squeezed, Frank loosen his hold enough to shepherd you into the apartment. He lead you to the bathroom before letting you go to turn on the shower. After adjusting the knobs, he stripped you out of your soaked clothes and gently encouraged you under the spray. The hot water felt so good that you almost started crying again.
“I gotta check on the food but I’ll be right back,” he said. You slowly nodded in agreement.
True to his word, Frank was back within five minutes. In his hands were a bundle of clothes that he sat on the counter.
“Do you want to wash?” he asked. You thought about it and then nodded your head. You watched as he striped out of his clothes, normally something that would have you getting wet in a different way but today, you were too emotionally wrung out for sex.
Frank seemed to sense this because he didn’t touch you that way. Just soaped up the washcloth and helped you clean the day off of your body. Just washed your hair and gently massaged your scalp, which eased the still pouting headache. He wrapped you in the biggest, fluffiest towel you owned before he dried himself and changed back into his clothes.
You were feeling steady enough to dry yourself off and start to dress yourself. He had picked out your most comfortable clothes. But with your pile of clothes was one of his hoodies. You sent him a questioning look as you held it up.
“Put it on, honey, it’ll keep you warm,” he said. What went unsaid that he knew you loved wearing his hoodies. Being loose on him and all his muscles, they were way too big for you but that’s why you loved them. That and they smelled like Frank.
You smiled at him. It was a little thing, barely a smile, but it was first one that you had all day. He smiled back and said, “There’s my girl. Let’s go eat.”
Frank claimed that he wasn’t much of a cook and maybe it was the stress of the day but it was the most delicious spaghetti that you had ever eaten. After you had eaten your fill, Frank had taken care of the plates and otherwise cleaning up the kitchen, ignoring your protests that he had cooked, you should be the one to clean.
“Pick us out a movie, honey,” he said, shooing you out of the kitchen.
Realizing there was no point in fighting him on this – especially when you didn’t especially want to do the dishes after a day like this – you settled on the couch and started strolling through the streaming options. You had picked one, a romance that you had seen a dozen times, when Frank came into the living room with one of your blankets.
Through you knew perfectly well that romance was not his favorite genre, he just nodded at your movie choice, and encouraged you to snuggle with him under the blanket. Warm, comfortable, and filled with good food, you fell asleep about halfway through the movie.
The next morning, while having coffee, Frank casually mentioned that he knew of a law firm that was looking for a new office manager. No pressure, just something to consider. After the day you had yesterday and how much you were dreading today, that little white business card he left with you was very, very tempting.

Hey guys! I'm sorry for disappearing the past days... But I've made a small compilate of my favorite vegan high protein/low calorie meals. The instructions on how to make each dish are listed below the cut:
Disclaimer: all kinds of beans must be soaked in water for 8-12 hours before they're cooked. Throw out the water afterwards, as it contains toxins that make digestion harder.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
1- Tofu muffins
Herbs and spices I use: oregano, basil, chives, turmeric and chili powder
Preheat oven to 180°C or 356°F.
Add the chopped onions and a pinch of salt to a sauce pan and sauté them in a little bit of water until golden. Then, add the chopped garlic and let it cook for another minute. Finally, add the grated carrots and zucchini to the pan and sauté them for 2 minutes.
Process the firm tofu, water, chickpea flour, nutritional yeast, salt, herbs and spices in a food processor until smooth.
Incorporate the sauteed veggies and chopped tomatoes into the mixture (I save some tomatoes and herbs to use as toppings). Transfer the batter to a non-stick muffin pan and bake it for 25-35 minutes.

2- Kafta
Herbs & spices I use: smoked paprika, garlic powder, Aleppo pepper and parsley
Preheat oven to 200°C or 392°F.
Boil some water, remove from heat and add the TVP with a tbsp of vinegar to the pan. Let it soak for 10 minutes, then rinse and squeeze to remove all excess water.
Add the chopped onions and a pinch of salt to a pan and sauté them with a sprinkle of water until golden. Then, add the chopped garlic and let it cook for another minute. Combine the lentils, TVP, more salt and smoked paprika to the mixture and cook for 5 minutes.
Add the mixture to a food processor with the chickpea flour and all the other herbs and spices, process until combined.
Roll mixture into sausages and stick a skewer to them. If you want to, spray some olive oil into a baking pan before adding them to make a crust. Bake or air fry for 20 minutes, then flip and bake for another 15 minutes.
-> Serve with freshly squeezed lime juice or tzatziki sauce.

Preheat oven to 200°C or 392°F.
Add all of the ingredients to a food processor and process until thoroughly combined. Mold them into whichever shape you'd like (the thinner, the crunchier/the thicker, the softer). Bake or airfry in a non-stick baking pan for 30-40 minutes.
For the sauce, sprinkle some salt on the grated cucumbers and let it sit for 3 minutes while you chop the garlic and herbs. Then, squeeze the cucumbers to remove excess water, combine with all of the other ingredients and mix with a spoon.

I spent all day making this sauce and it's hard to explain what an intense experience it became. It wasn't like a whole developed thing, I just promised to make this fairly simple cumin yogurt marinate for these lambchops my husband was going to make. I generally don't cook, but I could deal with this and it would put us way ahead on dinner. I thought it would just take an hour or maybe two, but like: I cleaned the kitchen and all the dishes in it and put everything away, and then I put these quick pickle red onions together, and then I made the sauce with yogurt ginger garlic lime zest cumin coriander mint cilantro black pepper and jalapeño. The recipe was written in this bizarre way that's hard to explain, it felt kind of non-linear to me, plus I had to do this math in my head because there was way too much of it on the page. Then when I was done and the chops were soaking, my husband asked me to make another batch in case we wanted extra on the plate, so I cleaned more greens and zested more lime and crushed more garlic and sliced more ginger and cored and sliced more jalapeño and measured out more spices and scooped out more yogurt and made another batch. And then we kind of agreed that maybe it's best to at least use up the ingredients that were running low in the end, so I cleaned more greens and zested more lime and crushed more garlic and sliced more ginger and cored and sliced more jalapeño and measured out more spices and scooped out the rest of the yogurt, and made the last batch. And then I washed all the dishes and put them away and cleaned up the kitchen again. And part of me is like, when you've been in the water all day and your body still kind of feels like it's wiggling around underneath you. I feel like I'm still making that sauce.

This story is not a fairy tale, so it should not start with "once a long time ago." Some say the events that happened are legends, others that are true and shaped the world. One thing is certain things that happened a few survivors lived to tell, proves popped up here and there. But in the center of this mystery were two boys. One remained and the other disappeared. Fate parted them. Xie Lian was left alone. Some say he spent the last five years searching for Hua Cheng. He refused to believe that his best friend was dead. There was no proof that he was dead no body no blood nothing. His house was not ransacked it was as if Hua Cheng just disappeared in thin air.
The stronger force was at work here, the force from another plane of existence. Once in a century this force would awake and search for compatible humans, to carry its mark, its power, or one could say its disease that will plunder among humans. This time force spotted the perfect victim. Hua Cheng. The boy was only eighteen years old, and easily captured. Held deep in darkness in the center of the force in the belly of the beast. For years, till his body and soul soaked up all the power..he was changed. No humanity was left in him, but the force was not counting on one thing. Hua Cheng never forgot who he was. Who he is. And where he lived or who his friends are.
Another failed experiment and the force that took him wanted him dead now, for he could not be manipulated or used. Hua Cheng fought back he didn't want to die. Somehow he managed to fight the darkness that held him captive, his silver scimitar killed his captor and Hua Cheng soaked his rest of powers.
A first immortal a first vampire. He was perfect, he was resistant to the sun, relentless, intelligent, alluring, fast, and agile. But there was one huge disadvantage blood lust the thirst was killing him. He was so new to this, and his mistakes cost humanity peaceful nights and safe evenings. Vampires that he sired were weaker yet strong enough to kill humans. They were restricted to darkness, silver and wooden stakes could kill them. Holly water and sun worked just as well. Silver crosses and garlic.
Hua Cheng was back in his hometown doubting that anyone would recognize him. He was an adult now with long black hair. With an eye patch over his right eye. The only thing that could kill him is fire and disposing of his ashes. Or killing a butterfly while he sleeps over the day, they say silver butterflies hold this vampire's soul....
