WHY DO I LIKE LEONA???

Sorry for the long yap as usual but, I feel like every once in a while ppl ask me this very question and I feel like I have been in twst hell for so long it’s like ancient history now. VGBHNJMK

TBH I very strongly disliked Leona's character when he came on screen when I first started to play twst. I found Chapter 2 to be very flat compared to Chapter 1 and I had very little sympathy for him and his backstory. To me, it was clear he was just the "hot, brooding character" archetype and I had no interest in him whatsoever.

HOWEVER, when I became more active in the fandom, my friend @comingyourlugubriousness and others began to ship my Yuu with him as a joke bc of my said dislike. And, yeah I begin to write lil scenarios where they’d interact and challenged myself to make a logical way he would even be interested in my Yuu in the first place? 

THAT GOT ME THINKING and I saw how he used to be characterized in fics and stuff and I really just didn't agree??? Even to this day, I feel like some ppl go in two extremes with him. 1.) Where they wash down his personality in order for him to fit in into this “prince charming role" OR 2.) They make him the worst bastard ever, which can lead into certian problematic connotations.

When I went to write my own fics I had watched all of his vignettes and understood better what his true personality is. The main story does not do much to make him likable to a general audience sometimes IMO. And so I became interested in how and why so many ppl interpret his character so wrong?? (My opinion ofc)

And so my journey began as prob one of the biggest Leona apologists ever.

To answer the question better I guess. What do I LIKE about him?

I like him bc in order to enjoy him you really have to read between the lines and do your own work as a fan to find the intriguing parts of him! It's just fun!

I actually find him very relatable, his burnout and seemingly ultra competitive but still “work smarter” not harder attitude is something I gel with and feels very realistic for someone his age.

YES, I think his design is nice but honestly it's the least interesting thing about him to me. I will always enjoy long hair on men that's no secret. According to some friends I "have a type” but eh.

I like that he uses his sorta rude and grumpy ruse to scare ppl off. I�� personally subscribe to the idea that underneath all that sass he's just a lil cantankerous grandpa stuck in a  20 year old’s body, who likes to yap about chess and dead languages. 

He’s a nerd and likes books.

He's a true hater. 💚

I feel like he'd never judge your appearance, for eating too much or being lazy.

I feel like he's a caretaker and would always look out for you.

I think he'd be a good teacher and big brother and a lot of his more amiable qualities remind me of my own S/O who is so, so smart and charismatic and who I love very much! 

I say "I think/feel" on a lot of this bc TBH the headcanons I have made for him over my time in the fandom are probably 80% the reason I like him, yk?

Kanga! "When she quests, another of your characters can't be challenged until your next turn." That's a real nifty ability, but again, not a lot of challenging happening in the current meta, mostly direct removal. Giving it to something with Ward would be insane, though.

Give me more elemental lions! Seems not bad, a Maui alternative if you're not paired with Ruby.

Card draw is king, this will see play. Also a shift target for Devoted Herald, making Amethyst/Emerald more viable.

Now this is very neat. Either you can mill your opponent a bit, or you can surveil yourself. I could see him in an Amber/Amethyst deck trying to cheat out Chernabog ASAP. Even if you're not doing forced mill, being able to check in on that top card is real nice.

Emerald continues to have the weirdest removal options.

Kind of a mini Cogsworth. Make sure you have another character on board though or you'll be forced to give an opposing character Resist.

Our Dead Mom this set is an older brother! And he's... really good? Forcing it to be during an opponent's turn means you can't Teeth and Ambitions him, but still getting to ramp by 2 from one card is insane. He's just going to keep questing until your opponent finally bites the bullet and deals with him, giving you a lot of ink. This sees play.

Chonky item payoff! Play him the turn after Lucky Dime for 3 lore and a big butt.

FLAVERSHAM STRIKES AGAIN

Another weird one. Probably best with Diviner, who can cheat items out of the deck without clogging your hand. Most relevant for:

That's potentially a whole lot of card draw. He has two shift targets as well, so it's not unreasonable to get him out early. The question is, is the card draw worth filling your deck with Microbots?

I like it! Especially since it can be used offensively - give your opponent's squishy things Bodyguard so you can snipe around their own Bodyguards!

So if she has to be in a dorm except ramschackle, she'd be in octavinelle, she get along well with azul and the tweels

But also get along well with everyone from every dorms (except : Rook (weirdo) and Sebek (too loud like stfu))

"It's fucked up" she thinks sometime... Because she HAS to return to her world, but they can't get too attached, or else it'll hurt them all

She really wants to return to her world because her father is (now) alone to take care of their family shop (her mom died at age of 7 from pneunomia, they were poor and couldn't save her)

And she also want to "repay" her dad for everythings he did for her

But she also wants to stay

Complicated, isn't it?

National Crochet Month - Days 12-18

12. Favorite Yarn - I have a few because of the different types of projects I do. In the world of doilies, my favorite crochet thread is called Alize Miss Batik, which can be a little hard to come by. It's a size 10 mercerized cotton and each colorway has long strand variegation to create such beautiful final products. In the world of what I purchase from my LYS - my heart sings Malabrigo. While Arroyo/DK is my preferred weight here, I've worked more with their ult sock and sock weight. As far as value yarns, I'm partial to Lion Brand's options. I have a bit of a collection of Mandala cakes. Though Caron Simply Soft is where I started. In the world of cotton - I like hobbii's friends cotton.

I asked my fandom to send me a color for this, and then I crocheted a granny square in order of each color received until I couldn't find a color in stash close enough. It was lilac that did me in. So I'd be happy to share the randomness of with you for this part of the challenge. Random Rainbow:

15. Blanket

The blanket you're about to see is not one I made, but it's one that I've always known. I've shared this story before on my instagram, and it felt right to share here for this part of the challenge. As a child, I loved all the bright colors and I liked playing with the fringe. I didn't find out until I was older that it was made by the grandmother I'd never known. Years before me, my mom taught her mom how to crochet as an outlet for when she was sick. She had just turned the corner of fringe before passing away, and mom couldn't bring herself to finish it.

It means so much to me that this craft can create a bond. Even reach across generations.

16. Crocheting in Public Yes, it depends though. I don't always carry around a project bag that's portable, as I also prefer to be at home more often than not. One of my favorite places/times to crochet is when I am on vacation, so I've been known to bring some projects down to the beach front.

17. Something for Me

At the moment, the big crochet blanket is the thing that's most for me. It was a huge splurge for nice yarns, has been an absolute joy to work with as hand-dyed merino, and the end piece isn't going to mean much to anyone besides myself and my husband. I think people who also play ffxiv might appreciate the idea, but we've also added yarns to represent our Warrior of Light, so the final product is going to be subtle, special to us, and probably look like it doesn't go together at all to everyone else. It's making me happy though and that's what matters. Though, I am also terrified of it getting ruined, so it might end up carefully bagged and stored until I want to use it. #blanket of the seventh dawn 18. Crochet Buddy Most of my crochet friends are online, which is great because it's such a great way to bond over timezones. I love seeing progress, being a part of inspiring each other - sometimes not always with crochet, and just chatting life and projects. On the other hand it means no yarn-y friends to take to the LYS or craft store with me. I have to be my own reality check (admittedly though, I'm often my own enabler). 4. Who felt romantic feelings first? Anya did! It was two years after they reconnected on Arus and right before the team got split up because of Wade. She never said anything because she was scarred she'd lose the special closeness they had, and because Pidge was crushing on Lance at the time lol

His crush ends after The Incident, since Pidge dedicated himself to getting back black lion, and Anya's crush takes a back burner while she makes sure Allura doesn't turn into a vegetable because of her depression. Around three years later, though, Pidge starts crushing on her in turn because she had come to visit them on Earth instead of Allura (she got dragged into royal business) during the holidays. Something about Anya laughing with the streetlights reflecting off her eyes and the snow that reminded him of home really got to him. Likewise, seeing Pidge still have so much life in him and his general excitement to have her near again brought that crush back into focus for Anya. Neither of them would act on it until like another 3 years though

6. If you had told one of them that the other would be their soulmate, what would they think? Pidge would brush it off, he doesn't believe in destiny or ghosts or anything mystical that's part of a greater force. Anya already believes they're soulmates, but not in the romantic sense. Soulmates to her are just people who are meant to keep crossing each other's path, and that has happened at least 3 times with Pidge

2. Did they have an official first date? If so, what was it like? No official first date, as in they went out somewhere, but what they consider their first date is when they both spent a bunch of time together in the Royal Archives. Only Arusian royalty and their advisors are allowed in, so Coran gave Anya a key for the door, and Pidge has snuck in there a lot before because he's not going to be kept from information period. It'd had been a long day for them both and the two wanted to spend some alone time together, so they agreed to meet in the archive, where almost nobody else was allowed in. Inside the archive was a nook hidden by the ceiling tall bookcases, it had a small couch with a lamp and coffee table. Neither of them knows who set it up, but they brought over some blankets and electric kettle and mugs just to sit and cuddle with each other. And that was how they liked it, a moment of peace together doing whatever they wanted in each other's presence

1. Who initiated the relationship, and how did it go? It was probably Zora tbh LMAOO Larmina holds grudges for a LOOONG time, and she wasn't over their joyride in the city, especially because as royalty they should know better. Eventually they do play nice and Zora has liked Larmina's spark from the start, so she just bluntly asks her out. Larmina takes it as a challenge almost, she doesn't see it as a fun time, but they end up getting along great and agree to keep seeing each other.

The Twins aren't actually evil in my eyes, I like to think they're spies who work with Lotor and feed the info back to the rest of the Drule Empire, which had kicked out the 9th kingdom (Lotor's kingdom) after dotu.

4. Were they each other’s first anything (kiss, relationship, etc.)? Larmina's first relationship, but not Zora's anything. I see them both as minors, so I'm not going much farther than that, but Larmina now fully understands why her aunt is so attached to the idea of someone really loving her in their relationship

5. What’s their height difference? Age difference? In the comics they look to be the same height, but I've always hc'd that the ladies of the team to be taller than their respective group (except Anya she got the short end of the stick, literally) Larmina is taller than Zora but actually younger than her. In dotu I know they gave the Drule's ages that go into the centuries, but I can't see that without some serious physical changes, so the twins are about as young as the cadets (Zora 19-20, Larmina 18)

10. Do they prefer verbal or physical affection? This is actually kind of tough, at least for Pidge Anya prefers physical affection, she wasn't given a lot of verbal affection before either, but something about feeling the touch and warmth of another person makes her feel so happy For Pidge I guess he's the same, he's probably used to getting told how smart he is and things related to that because of his genius. When he gets physical affection though, it surprises him, it's really only Hunk Lance and Allura that are physically affectionate with him, so now that Anya is getting a lot more touchy as his partner it's like he can't get enough. Even if they're in the same room doing separate things, one of their limbs has to touch somehow or else he'll get dramatic. Truthfully, it's because of his last relationship that ended abruptly and horribly, her touch reminds him that she isn't going anywhere, especially after he let himself romantically care for and get into a relationship with someone again.

within the bustling city and lights, a game was afoot - one that yanqing took rather seriously as he knew that the hacker was here. somewhere within the paradise of the dreamscape. her partners had snuck their way into the luofu and he had no doubt that sliver wolf had some part in that. tracking down and locking up criminals was part of yanqing's job description - even within the land of festivites.

checking out the arcade might have been too obvious - too simple yet it was the most likely place to find her.

and therefore, yanqing entered the building filled with children upon children. he had never seen so many children in one spot before. there were orphans of belobog, orphans of the xianzhou flagships and even children who had parents. some of them weren't even children but pepeshi who had manged to blend in among the children rather intentionally or not.

the boy gave a look around the arcade as he scanned for any sighting of the girl and there were many girls around her age present. he didn't stare too long, not wanting to come off as a creep. only brief glances and holding up a xianzhou wanted poster to compare if any of them looked like sliver wolf but none were her so far.

would she really make it that easy for him? she likes a challenge and she likes to challenge others just as much so he doubted it. " hey, girl, you looking for someone?" he could hear someone say but didn't realize was talking to him until- " hey! I'm talking to you, blondie!" a voice that sounded nice and sweet but the girl in question was nowhere close to it. having gotten irritated when yanqing hadn't realized she was talking to him.

" huh? I'm not a girl." corrected yanqing before holding up the wanted poster he had of sliver wolf, " but I am looking for one. have you seen her lately? she's really into gaming. could compete in a gaming league and win but only plays for the fun of it. ring a bell?"

" you're a boy!? here I was thinking that lieutenant yanqing was just like me.. a girlie climbing up the ranks of a male-dominated field. so disappointing.." pouted the social media addicted teen girl.

" you will never take sliver wolf. you're not enough of a man!" a gamer girl with cat ear headphones butted in.

" huh!? well, yeah, I'm only fourteen.. what does my age have to do with catching a criminal?" asked a confused yanqing.

" .. oh sorry. I thought you were her ex or something." the gamer girl apologized, " yeah. I haven't seen her today. weird."

" maybe she knew her ex or whatever was coming and didn't want to see him." noted the social media girl.

" no. she just likes to toy with law enforcements. I'm sure she's just busy playing cat and mouse with the bloodhounds. or well... wolf and hounds more like." yanqing explained though he had no idea why these girls were so hyperfixated on the imaginary idea that he had potentially dated sliver wolf but he knew that correcting them would only further make them believe that he's her ex-or-whatever.

he needed something.. something that will make them completely forget about that idea. yanqing looked around and as he did so, more girls gathered around upon seeing how cute he was. it was almost like they all shared a hive mind or something. " girlie! - I mean- not girlie, you need to chill! play some games with us. I love your energy!" said a girl dressed in all pink.

and many more compliments came his way until eventually yanqing had become an honorary girlie and hung out with this group of girls. kicking all their butts in dance dance revolution and slowly forgetting about sliver wolf. at some point, march 7th had appeared and took pictures of the group and even took a selfie with yanqing.

" oh my gosh! honorary girlie?" exclaimed march upon hearing the news from yanqing and she was filled with both excitement and pride, " I knew you would be, I knew you would be. with my guidance and words of wisdom mixed with stelle's.. uhh.. presence! yeah! you were already on your way to becoming an honorary girlie before but we certainly did help- hmhm!" she said all this with such confidence and self-assurance that one couldn't help but admire her bravery.

she gave a nod of confidence at her own words while the younger girls around them stared up at her like she was their hero. yanqing and the group of girls would hang out for some time until finally sliver wolf made her appearance.. having stepped out of a room out in the back, stretching out her arms as she walked. she must have been sitting for a very long time.

yanqing spotted her right away but didn't say anything at first. simply waiting for the right moment as he sat in the restaurant part of the arcade, still with the group of girls that now consisted of march and stelle. there was also that witch-doctor from boulder town who was watching over hook and clara. his yellow ember eyes followed sliver wolf's movements without her noticing as whenever she looked over, yanqing pretended to be busy with something or talked to one of the girls.

eventually sliver wolf stepped into range with yanqing having hidden himself from her view until.. she turned the corner and he playfully jumped at her, startling and tackling her to the ground. " haha! I won!" he exclaimed with pride and excitement as the girl soon let out a sigh at being defeated. the boy would then get up onto his feet before holding out a hand to help her up.

sliver wolf stared at the hand for a few seconds, debating if taking it would mean another loss but the look on yanqing's face gave her the answer. she let out a small huff, cracking a smile before taking the hand and yanqing pulled her back up to her feet

" gg, lieutenant!" she praised the boy for a good game played only for yanqing to return it with, " so, uh.. what game do you want to play next?"

and that was the day the game called lion vs wolf ended

WE ARE BACK (((FOR REAL THIS TIME)))

my first full arcade session in a year, using the session from 2 days ago as a warm up, and absolutely KILLING IT on both the white and gold cabs!! (feat random selfie in what looks like tactical gear, but is actually just my casual COVID-19 wear)

this session, i had way better acc compared to when i started, and actually got a really good score on RPG!!! but then i got overconfident from watching the chart video during quarantine and ended up failing on PSMO

BONUS EXCLUSIVE SCORES NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN: these SDVX scores (and one score from DRS) that i got from google photos!!! turns out probably due to laziness when updating the old scores and not wanting to make another tweet, i left these out of the thread for this session and skipped to IIDX (which ALSO has a few missing scoreposts), so here are the elusive SDVX scores i never posted right before moving onto IIDX

NOW, IIDX TIME!!! of course, i was playing for fun while also working towards greater skill, but i also really wanted to play for a different, very specific reason...

THIS SONG!!! Denjin, akatsukini taoreru, which i didn't even KNOW had a beginner chart!!!

I def played a bunch more than just that though, and got a couple of really nice scores for a beginner this session, including a CLEAR ON LION SUKI SPN-4 AT LAST!!! (also a really goofy fail on VOX RUSH SPN-8 even though i was nowhere near the skill level to clear it and just really liked the song)

right before i left, i played another set or two of DDR to bid it farewell, and it just kept getting BETTER!! like check out this first try clear on Ishtar CSP-16!!! then, to close off the session, i tried the challenge difficulty of my favorite song and somehow got an AAA??? even despite missing along the way??? hell YEAH my acc was indeed getting better if i could pull this off on an 11. that derusting session on the 12th was INSANELY beneficial for this moment, i'm so glad i got my skill back so soon :]

I love the idea of the boys making a game out of getting Ash to speak or laugh, they probably have a little tally chart and everything of who's made Ash crack the fastest.

Joe gives me the idea that he'd ask Ash things like "I'm heading out for coffee, do you want me to bring anything back for you?" "I've had a bad day, it would be really nice if someone hugged me and told me it would all be okay." "Ash, pls say something I miss your voice" And Ash would give in to Joe's needs because he is not missing out on Greg's coffee again, absolutely not. And Joe is a sweet guy, how could he not indulge him a little?

But of course it was Wilbur that found the cheat code. It was Wilbur who has a little brother that he loves to poke the sides of to make the boy yelp and swat at him. So, he uses this method on Ash, and is delighted to find that it makes the man squirm in place and grin, smacking at his hands as he tries to ignore the sparks shooting through his nervous system. Naturally Wilbur keeps poking until Ash bursts into laughter or gasps at him to cut it out

And so it begins; the boys have their usual tactics, but Wilbur has thrown a new one into the playing field and by god do they abuse it. Ash has had to cut so much footage from his vlogs of his bandmates getting that glint in their eyes and starting towards him like some kind of lion ready to pounce. The tickling is usually brought on by practices becoming dull and needing something to pick it back up, Ash refusing to talk and the boys wanting to hear their friend again, or when they're just seeking out to mess with someone. Ash doesn't really mind it the playful attacks, especially considering Mark probably gets sprung as much as he does. (That one clip of Wilbur and Mark oh my god, do you see where my mind is going-) I am hereby decreeing that Ash and Mark are the common lees of Lovejoy

I refuse to believe there hasn't been a few instances where one of the boys will start a tickle barrage out of nowhere and it devolves into chaos immediately. For instance, in their secluded house for song writing? Tickle fight to help improve moods when they're stressed out or need a bit of fun. Band rehearsals when someone is dicking around and not being serious? Tickle the silliness out of them.

These musically talented lads are so fond of each other that the childish acts of tickling is just another form of affection or fun, and sometimes they need a moment of light-hearted chaos

May we see Happiny's whole day please?

Let it be said, that Happiny is a happy baby. She is the happiest bean ever and I'm so happy that she'll soon be in the fic. This is one of the possible days that Happiny can have at NRC!

Happiny wakes up to the room that her Daddy and Uncle Ace share with two other people. She yawns as she gets up from the bed that she sleeps in. Of course, she cleans the bed up and makes sure that it's nice before her Daddy does her special bow that looks like her Mama's. Once they're both ready for the day, they attend the roll call.

Riddle: "Deuce Spade!"

Deuce: "Here, Dorm Head!"

Riddle: "Happiny!"

Happiny: "Hap Hap!" Here!

This has become routine for them ever since Happiny was born in the dorm. Once that's said and done, Uncle Ace, Daddy, and Happiny go over to the special place where a lot of her friends are: Ramshackle. Happiny doesn't know why it's called Ramshackle, but that's the name. In the arms of her Daddy, they knock on the door before entering the dorm.

Happiny seeing her Mama and beaming: "Happiny!" Mama, good morning!

Soni taking Happiny into her arms and hugging her to the baby's delight: "Good morning, Happiny. You look very happy today."

Happiny just enjoys the cuddles as they all gather for a quick breakfast. Happiny typically eats Berries from the farm as well as some Moomoo Milk so she gets stronger when she grows up. Uncle Ace and Daddy talk to Mama about things, but Grimmy is staring at her food like always.

Grimmy is her weird cat friend who's not a cat. He also calls her "little henchman", which Happiny doesn't really know what that means, but she thinks it's another word for a friend! He sometimes wipes her Berries whenever he thinks her Mama isn't looking, but then Mama says something about reducing the number of tuna cans in the budget and suddenly Grimmy just cries about how unfair Mama is.

During Potions classes, Happiny is always curious about the cool bubbling stuff in the bottles, letting out little gasps whenever they sparkle and glitter in the air. The man with the fluffy coat makes sure that she's covered up with the swishy coat and goggles, although they don't fit her perfectly.

Daddy and Uncle Ace are a pair for this particular Potion and what happens is this:

Deuce: "Oi, make sure to not over stir it!"

Ace: "Tch, idiot, we're supposed to mix it with the Bell Roots like this!"

BOOM!

Happiny: "Happiny!" Yay for big boom!

During History lessons, Happiny takes her nap on her Daddy's lap and wakes up to the sound of the school bell. She doesn't know what that other Grimmy cat is doing, but it likes to stare at her. Happiny waves goodbye to the nice-looking grandpa and they go to P.E.

The coach lets her run with the students, although many times they often slow down for some reason or part to let her through. Happiny doesn't really know why. She's extremely happy in these classes because she gets to run with her Daddy, unlike the club meetings where she's often told not to join him. Not only that, but Mama is also there with games for her to play like the sparkly disk that the grumpy lion person gave her that one time!

On the side, the students quietly agree to let the little bun have their fun and not run beside her as they might fall over her and possibly injure her, which will result in literal chaos and someone getting punched. Those who see Happiny running around with the Magishift disk shiver in fear or the more reckless ones challenge her to throw it at them.

When lunch comes around, Happiny gets food from her Mama and Daddy, usually a mix of the Pokemon food, Berries, and more Moomoo Milk. Sometimes her Daddy sneaks her a sweet to eat and even though Mama tells him not to spoil her, Mama gives her a special Pokepuff if she behaves for the day. Pokepuffs are special things that she really, really likes and Mama doesn't make a whole bunch because she's usually busy.

"Krill-chan!" Suddenly the world goes upside down and Happiny squees as she's flung into the air.

She knows this voice! "Happiny!" Uncle Floyd!

"Shrimpy, look at how happy she is! She really likes this sort of thing!"

"Floyd please, for the love of Arceus, don't fling her to the ceiling. Deuce, help Happiny already-"

Happiny doesn't understand why her Daddy and Mama always look worried about Uncle Floyd. He's very fun and he's super nice to her! He also gives the best hugs.

When Happiny told her Mama about the mean people who picked on her, Uncle Floyd was the one to help Happiny, although he did tell her to close her eyes for some reason. When he told her to look again, the meanies were nowhere to be found. That day she got to play with Sobble with his stuffed plushies and even eat some snacks from the food place that Sobble lives in!

After lunch, Happiny often sticks with her Daddy for his club meetings, and here comes the most boring part of the day. He's too busy to play with her, Uncle Ace couldn't take her with him because he was also dealing with his stuff, and Mama was doing her work for that weird bird person.

When this happens, Happiny explores the school!

Sometimes she goes to other dorms, in the Heartslabyul Gardens, even the Magishift Fields where she can play with the players and the cool sparkly disk! She really likes going to Ramshackle, although it's very far from everything else. It's really comfy there and the Pokemon that live there are super nice to her! The other Pokemon in the dorms are nice too, but in Ramshackle, Happiny can really play with the other Pokemon and her Mama will always come home at the end of the day.

Sometimes the nice person with horns stops by Mama's and they enjoy playing together by the pond where the funny White Bird Pokemon lives. The sleepy person usually cuddles up with Big Sis Nimbus and the green person who reads her stories often screams at the White Bird Pokemon. When Mr. Lilia comes around, Happiny is often sung a lullaby and she falls asleep with no further fuss.

When she wakes up again from her nap, Happiny is greeted by the sight of Uncle Ace holding her. Uncle Ace is someone who took care of her almost as much as her Daddy and Mama, but he's too shy to admit that he cares. Happiny doesn't know why. Mama says it's okay to be happy, to show concern, and to be caring!

Even so, Happiny and Uncle Ace watch as Grimmy lights up the fireplace while her favorite people all gather around the fireplace. Homework is done as they all work together as well as worksheets that her Mama gives to Daddy and Uncle Ace, much to their dismay. Happiny didn't know why. They were like the fun drawing books her Mama gave her!

Deuce lifts his pen off the page: "Hmm? Ah... I forgot about the whiskers."

Happiny: "Hap?" It looks like a cat?

Ace: "Teacher's pet, why are you giving us more homework? Didn't you mention something about this sort of thing not being useful on the fly?"

Happiny likes to play with the coloring books that she gets from her Mama, just having fun with them until dinner. That's where all her favorite people gather for dinner or Daddy brings her home to Heartslabyul for dinner there. Whenever Happiny gest reminded that she isn't staying with her Mama for the night, Happiny gets sad and just looks at her Daddy with teary eyes. Happiny just feels sad to leave her Mama in Ramshackle. Why couldn't Mama just stay with her Daddy?

Mama always has a funny look on her face whenever Happiny brings it up and Uncle Ace always laughs at Daddy for some reason. After getting kisses and cuddles from her Mama, Happiny has to say goodbye. From that point on, her Daddy and Uncle Ace bathe her, help her with the rocks that she collected in the day, and they finally go to sleep. Happiny's favorite blankie is one that her Mama made with the man with the fluffy coat. It's super warm and cozy. It's with this item that Happiny can go to sleep in peace and dreams of happy things for happy memories.

Deuce tucks Happiny into her bed and kisses her on the forehead, "Good night, Happiny."

"Hap Hap!" Good night, Daddy! Happiny moves over to kiss her Daddy on the cheek and cuddles under the blanket again.

From that point on, Happiny goes to a dreamland where all her loved ones are with her and happy.

Meanwhile Ace is just staring at Deuce who's so overwhelmed by Happiny's cuteness for the fifth time this week.

As an Edelgard detractor who hasn't yet made that comparison, I have a lot to say. It'll be divided into three parts: Why Faerghus doesn't make the comparison as well as you seem to think, why Edelgard does make that comparison, and why Edelgard sucks even if Nemesis never existed.

First, I would like to point out the large disparity between sharing a "warrior ethos" and "following his will". In order to detract from the Faerghans, you've changed the argument to an entirely irrelevant aspect of Nemesis' character.

I wasn't really doing it to detract from the Faerghus in and of itself. Their warrior and strength culture is probably the least bad part about the country.

Moreover, the Nemesis line you're citing is hardly evidence of his honor, given that he spent the preceding fight being protected by his Elites.

I'd argue that's more a case of gameplay/story segregation. In the opening cutscene of Three Houses, he jumps out into the fight in the open. Meanwhile, every time we see him as a boss, Dimitri is always hiding behind all his soldiers, when it'd be far more in character for him to be mixing it up on the front lines.

Also I'm not really discussing his honor, I'm discussing his pride as a warrior.

More than anything, the line demonstrates his willingness to invoke the rules when it suits him and furthers his ideals and ignore them when it doesn't. Remind you of anyone?

as it is remarkably obvious that whatever he says, Felix is hardly typical of his kingdom, and after the timeskip he becomes much more amicable. His line going into the AM final battle even displays the tiniest hint of idealism, having come to respect his Father and Brother's sacrifices, even if he doesn't entirely forgive them.

I think we're having two different conversations, I never meant to imply that Felix's grumpiness is what makes him alike to Nemesis, I mean his dialogue about the extreme importance of strength and martial prowess held by Faerghus's culture.

All the other Lion, Ashe, Ingrid, Dedue, Dimitri, even Sylvain, display an understanding of honor, and all these save Sylvain practice it.

So again, I'm not talking about chivalry, I'm talking about warrior pride.

And this is going off-track, but the Faerghan army's conduct at Tailltean is nothing if not dishonorable. Attempting to use the church army as a distraction, knowingly using Demonic Beasts against Dimitri's wishes.

To compare Faerghus to Nemesis has required you to change the argument, remove context from two not-particularly-damning quotes, and have the audacity to presume that if the Kingdom follows Nemesis in any way, form, or fashion, that Edelgard is exonerated. Which she isn't.

Oh no, I'm no fan of whutaboutism. That's simply one of many ways I challenge the boneheaded assertion that Edelgard is like or would agree with Nemesis.

So, next you go into various ways Edelgard and Nemesis are similar - and yeah, I'm not disagreeing with most of these, Edelgard is very clearly meant to be a reflection of Nemesis, being the Agarthans' attempt at making another of him. So I'll be skipping most of these, but there's a couple i want to focus on:

has no problems using dragon remains to bolster their strength

This assumes Edelgard knows what Relics are made from, of which there's no proof.

We have absolutely no idea what Nemesis thought about the Nabateans. Dev interviews implied he didn't kill them because he hated them, but because he just wanted more power.

I'm sorry, you're gonna have to justify that Edelgard is immoral. She's a very compassionate individual, everything she does is so others can live free lives.

Like, come on, Edelgard is the red axe wielding head of an empire. In fire emblem terms, she might as well have a "VILLAIN" sign flashing neon on her forehead.

She's designed that way on purpose to reconstruct the Rudolph archetype, this is known. It's the same as how Dimitri is meant to deconstruct the "banished savior prince" archetype Marth began.

Now we get to "why Edelgard is a terrible person even if Nemesis never existed"!

It's been mentioned time and again that Edelgard does not establish a full on meritocratic rise or fall society (just observe her supports with Linhardt and Bernadetta if you think she'll be uncaring to the misfortunate) and I still love this silly, "but what actually is merit, how will Edelgard define it?" scare tactic. Uhh, maybe she'll define merit as in doing your job well and not fucking it up. And she definitely doesn't stick solely to rewarding only people who help her with the war, if only because her merit-based society comes after the war.

Also nice for you to admit Edelgard will at least have advisors, usually her detractors act like Edelgard refuses to ever take anyone's advice.

Not to beat a dead horse but Sylvain, who actually has a reason to be upset with the crest system instead of with freak TWSITD scientists, doesn't blame the church! Because he knows that's not going to fix anything!

I see this get brought up a lot, the mistaking of humans having Crests as the root of the problem, and not the societal framework that gives the possession of Crests, whether they're used or not, enormous power.

I'm sure I've said something like this before, but how do you think Mercedes's foster father plans to gain more power by marrying her off? Is he gonna sell her eventual Crested children off as mercenaries? No.

It has nothing to do with what the Crest of Lamine can do as a source of power, it's all about the social clout it offers. And the blame for that social clout falls squarely on Rhea creating false doctrine that claims Crests are marks of divine favor. Again, she has literally made the Divine Right of Kings something you can quantify and measure.

Most nobles don't fight, why do they need their children to bear Crests? Only House Gautier has something close to a justification for their obsession. Baron Dominic has an army and he doesn't live in a frontier region that often sees war, he doesn't need Annette to go out and personally smash his enemies.

And frankly, Holst's success rate against Almyra kinda tramples the claim that House Gautier needs the Lance of Ruin to defend their borders. Holst hasn't even got a Crest.

Eliminating the organization that gives Crests their immense social power will absolutely go a long way to fixing Fodlan's reliance on them as a mark of standing.

And that's not even getting into all the war crimes! She aided and abetted the kidnapping, probably torture, and human experimentation of Flayn by granting the Slitherers use of the Death Knight, same goes for Remire village.

What Edelgard aids and abets is Flayn's rescue. She's the first to vouch for saving her and lends all the help she can.

Right, because Thales would never lie and frame things to say it was her fault while she's being openly defiant!

Thales and the Agarthans did Duscur for themselves, not for Edelgard. Sowing discord and chaos across Fodlan is their MO, and murdering Lambert did a lot of that.

Further, Duscur happened 2 years after she began being experimented on (we don't have a clear time frame for how long she was imprisoned underground, she might still have been down there when Duscur happened) and 4 years before the game began. She was absolutely powerless at the time. If she insisted to Thales she would have destroyed him then she'd just earn herself a beating.

In other words, combine that with her betrayal and declaration of war, and Edelgard made Dimitri's life a living hell.

I think Dedue had things just a little bit worse than Dimitri at Duscur, but given how Azure Moon focuses on how the genocide of a minority group personally affected Dimitri's personal little tragedy, I'm not surprised you shed more tears for him than anyone else.

Also, I love how you cap off the paragraph that is supposed to be about how terrible Edelgard is with, "she made uwu white boi prince sad :'(" as if Dimitri was her only victim.

And she has the audacity to ask why he won't roll over and play dead.

The "must you continue to conquer" line has been explained time and again. Also, he could have also surrendered and worked with her.

In conclusion, SHE'S A WARMONGER

She actually hated the war, but go off, I guess.

So how do you sort the cast from Our Flag Means Death ?

Well, I consulted (or rather appropriated their ask, but lets not split hairs) with the one who shares my braincell in another dimension @piggledy-higgledy, and we proudly present The Sorting Of The Gay Flag Pirates!

Stede Bonnet: Stede is a double lion if I ever saw one, with a nice little badger secondary model or performance. He leaves his family because becoming a pirate is his big vision, the reason why he was put on this earth, and nothing is gonna stop him. It is most likely a felt conviction, because I can't imagine he has many information about pirate life that goes beyond the sensationalised horror stories he is forced to tell when he gets back. And he leaves Ed behind, even if he really doesn't want to, because that damn twin brother convinces him it's "the right thing to do".

As for his secondary, snake and badger are right out. Someone who dresses in white to visit a pirate's lair has not an ounce of fluidity in them; unarguably part of his charm. And he's not the most astute planner either, is he? A library and an open fire on a ship? Not even a thought that for a wanted man, going home might not be the best choice? And the way he badassed a ship of posh types into going after each other's throats was pure improv chaos energy.

And yet he does try to badger his crew into some semblance of community in the beginning, only stopping when Buttons tells him mutiny is afoot. And they do come through for him at his trial, so there is at least some badger in there somewhere. I vote performance, because it doesn't look like it comes very naturally to him.

Blackbeard/Edward Teach: Ed is the most glaringly obvious double snake that ever slithered his way onto a pirate ship. He is bored to nearly literal death by a world that holds no challenge, no stimulation, no one to play with, only the dull monotony of "been there, done that, torched the shirt and killed the vendor". He latches onto Stede as the only bright thing in his world of grey, and it's no wonder Stede becomes his person in no time. Running away together is the snake primary dream, and not caring about where or how is the double snake way, because things will work out, they always do.

He is surprisingly good with a posh crowd as long as he's improvising, but when he tries to remember Stede's dining instructions, he messes up. He is Ed for Stede, Blacky for Jack, Blackbird Rockstar for the crew, and No Mercy Blackbeard for Izzy. And they're not actor bird personas either. It's just him, reacting to the people in front of him. We see Ed being creative with the truth when he tells Stede he's never killed anyone after his father, because technically, it was the fire. You could literally point out any Blackbeard/Ed scene, and I'll tell you what's snakey about it.

Jim Jimenez: After the two leads, we probably know the most about Jim, which is awesome all in itself. They were raised in duty, and they have internalised it. I'd say for this, they have at least a badger primary model, if not an outright badger primary. And once they have decided on something, they just do it, no fuss, just quiet efficiency and unstoppable determination. Just ask Oluwande 😉. Their way of solving problems is to throw a knife at it, and they're awfully good at it. Hiding themselves in a disguise is not something they enjoy, even though it helps them find a part of themselves they were missing. And first chance they get, they confront Spanish Jacky in the most open manner possible. Jim is a badger/lion, and I'm here for it.

Oluwande: Let's not kid ourselves, Olu is the true lynchpin of the Revenge. His badger secondary shines through when he tries to coach Stede on how to be a pirate captain and keeps his secret, even though he thinks Stede won't last a week. The crew is onto something when they want to make him captain, because they all know that he truly has everyone's best interest at heart. And he fits in so naturally with the people on the island, it would have been easy for him to stay. But he doesn't, because as a true snake primary, he does not want to leave Jim. Olu is so ridiculously happy when Jim returns, it made my heart sing in all kinds of ways.

Izzy Hand: Izzy is an exploded and burned snake/bird, a classical villain sorting, even though he's not evil, only... misplaced. He very much believes he's in Black Sails, and it's hilarious and tragic at the same time. He loves his image of Blackbeard with every fibre of his being, and he has locked his circles tight. He very much has an us vs. them mentality because of it, with "them" being everyone that's not a serious pirate on Blackbird's crew. He is only convinced to stay on the Revenge once Blackbeard revealed his plan to steal Stede's identity, and Izzy himself is most comfortable when things go according to his plan. If they don't, he doesn't know what to do, and stress-punishes. He is also the mastermind behind the ambush-and-rescue, which involved a lot of moving parts, and would have gone off without a hitch if Ed wasn't such an idiot in love.

Pig and me concluded we know too little about the other characters to properly sort them. Lucius' and Frenchie's snake secondaries were easy to spot (flirting his way out of barnacle duty, and a literal pyramid scheme invented on the fly respectively), but beyond that, we couldn't say. If anyone wants to give it a go, we'll cheer for you! *starts making pom poms and dusting off the old uniform*
