FREEEEDOMMMMM !!!!!!!!!! at long last, after so much studying and so much suffering in anticipation of my finals, they were finally over... and now, with no more schoolwork left for the year (besides a few more assignments that i plan to do the day of this post's writing), i was completely free from university work and could enjoy the holidays for the rest of the month, catching up on hobbies and plans and stuff to potentially close out the last of my new year's resolutions!!! and of course, while that Does include journaling and scholarships and school prep, it also includes catching up on... my RHYTHM GAMING!!! last time i went to the arcade was last monday for an appointment to remove my braces, and today i had another appointment in the same place to get my clear retainer... which meant

while i could spend this time recovering mentally and doing some productive stuff... i REALLY wanted/needed to get my rhythm gaming fill after having abstained for so long to prioritize my finals... and since there were no more finals left to do until next year, it was the perfect opportunity to treat myself and let loose on gaming..! but before then, i had to . well. actually get there somehow, and so that led me to playing arcaea on the bus while i waited for it to take me to my beloved long-lost destination... and it did!!! eventually!!! but in the meantime, i got these insane scores on the ride there including a 997 on SUPER AMBULANCE [FTR-10] and... an EX on Abstruse Dilemma [FTR-11]!!! finally!!!

okay, so those were out of the way!!! the bus ride unfortunately(?) wasn't long enough to deplete all of my arcaea stamina, so i still had some left over to grind out... either way though, i missed my initial bus stop thanks to that Abstruse Dilemma EX and had to walk a bit from the next closest bus stop, but i made it to the arcade and ran straight to my beauty... my soul... my everything... beatmania IIDX 32 Pinky Crush!!!! oh, it's been so long,,,, (a week . lol . but it felt like an eternity, i swear!!!). no matter though... i was here, i was ready, and i was free to game to my heart's content, which i did with glee!!!

starting off strong with an EXHC on This is Club Musik feat. Ookubo Momiji [SPH-9] (my fav song from epolis ever), followed by a very tragic normal gauge fail on Tripping Jumping [SPA-10] (guess i'm not quite the scratcher as i thought......), but it appears that was only one-time initial warmup thing, because i started popping tf OFF afterwards!!! an AAA- on Triple Counter, then a sweet sightread NC and A rank on Silver Bullet [SPH-10] (one of my favorite casthour songs...?), then an INSANELY CLUTCH NC (and AA-) on RAGE feat.H14 of LEONAIR [SPH-10]!!!! i've still got it, truly the scratcher indeed!!! following this was a random new clear on a random new Pinky Crush song (Bring The Fire [SPH-9] AA, then this SICK new 10 AAA on ≡＋≡ (Sanjuu) [SPH-10], cruising through with a sightread AA on The Wind of China Express(The 4th Mashup) [SPA-10] (probably the closest we'll ever get to The Wind of Gold in IIDX...), and then ending off this set with an INSANE HC up from a fail on Turn A [SPH-10]????? wild...

the paragraph above is getting a bit too long, so we'll continue it from here . shortly after this, i remembered the suggestions for potential new SP-11 scratch charts a iidx friend gave me after seeing my insane rough percussionythm clear from last time . these were some really damn tough songs to be suggested, and i was a bit hesitant to try them upon initially watching the charts... but that's when my IRL IIDX friend present at the arcade showed the charts off to me to see if i liked 'em, and they definitely did seem both interesting and doable in-person...! so, despite still being a little hesitant, i planned to try out the charts at the end of my sets and spent the beginning playing other random charts as warmup... and out of recklessness in the process, i tried No Limit 2 dAnce feat. Oyama Aimi [SPA-11] on a whim and somehow got it on the spot as SP-11 Easy Clear #4!!! given such a monumental new clear, surely this could only mean good things for the other SP-11 charts i planned to clear later...? ...unfortunately not, as i ended up failing both songs in the remainder of the session -- first it was a fail on Digitank System [SPA-11] on extra stage, then a bit of practice for the next song, naughty girl@Queen's Palace [SPA-11] before ultimately failing it in the broken scratch section at the end... i did, however, get new ECs on You'll say "Now!" [SPH-10] and N.O. [SPA-10] in the process, but whether i'll get those other charts or not is still up in the air for my next session this weekend...

anyways, moving on!!! that's enough of all the IIDX... ough, so much to write about even outside of uni . but the length of the posts just go to show how long the session was... so long, in fact, that i ended up missing my initial orthodontist appointment and had to reschedule it for later that day!!! but no matter, because a friend noticed me while i was there and we met up to chat a bit while i waited for the rescheduled appointment time!!! it was a bit awkward, but we played some dancerush together and it was so damn fun !!!!!!! first we played some Versus Group Play (me getting my ass kicked score-wise, but having a total blast performance-wise as i pulled off some sick spins, running mans, twists, and ending poses :]), but then after a bit of recovery and thought, we tried doing a train on the cab -- starting easy with Polar Night, then going crazy with a level 10 (Shiva) and getting an awesome clear on it together!!!

after a bit of proseka and awkwardness, i went over to play DDR while they went to play gitadora and left shortly after, but partially thanks to the warmup from dancerush -- i had an absolutely Incredible set in their presence that i couldn't even believe at first... like, check this out!!! in my 2nd and extra stage respectively, i somehow got Another Phase (ESP-15, 45p) and Setsujou Danka (ESP-15, 64p) as 15 PFCs #14 and #15 respectively!!! and all of that in my first set of playing somehow,,, which means this could only be the start .

shortly after that, however, i kinda had to break away from the arcade and rush over to the orthodontist so i could make it in time for my newly rescheduled appointment. i knew it would take a while, but getting there and back took two full exhausting hours between leaving and returning from round 1... and only one of which was used for the appointment itself!!! a tragic time loss, yes, and i did have to give up the two credits in the cab as seen in the images above, but an even bigger tragedy struck while i was on the bus back... Abstruse Dilemma, FTR-11, muted and panicking... 989 . so close, yet so far from a clean 990 . waghhhh why is this chart so hard to timeee

i did eventually return to the arcade after those two hours (which included eating in between... my bad for forgetting to mention that earlier), and instantly got to work on grinding out the last of the ddr i needed to grind to stay in the golden league (it was a super strict 185k league score or so to stay, and the song was releasing tonight, so i needed to hurry...!) . for the most part, i kinda just goofed off with my local DDR friends there (as seen by our quadruple play of TYCOON [ESP-12] www), but then i started locking in after that silly set... a sightread AAA on HANIPAGANDA [ESP-16], followed by a sick first try 31p PFC on Red. by Full Metal Jacket [ESP-14] as 14 PFC #19, and then the absolute most surprising, shocking, incredible score of the entire session... something i cannot include in this post because stupid tumblr only allowed 30 images per post and i've somehow already reached that quota!!! damnit!!!! well, worry not, it'll be revealed in the next post... but these scores are pretty cool for now though, right? right????

finally got past this Kaibutsu Stella chart's mess of flicks... and branched out into the other messy charts to have a chance at them

but then i went to play DDR after work once more, and this was for real a MASSIVE session. upscores, sightreads, a sightread 14 PFC on Flip Flap, and just . how??? all this was initially was an excuse to play Death by Glamour on DRS...

March 14th, 2021 - DDR A20 PLUS, SDVX VW, DRS, IIDX 28

WE ARE BACK (((FOR REAL THIS TIME)))

my first full arcade session in a year, using the session from 2 days ago as a warm up, and absolutely KILLING IT on both the white and gold cabs!! (feat random selfie in what looks like tactical gear, but is actually just my casual COVID-19 wear)

this session, i had way better acc compared to when i started, and actually got a really good score on RPG!!! but then i got overconfident from watching the chart video during quarantine and ended up failing on PSMO

BONUS EXCLUSIVE SCORES NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN: these SDVX scores (and one score from DRS) that i got from google photos!!! turns out probably due to laziness when updating the old scores and not wanting to make another tweet, i left these out of the thread for this session and skipped to IIDX (which ALSO has a few missing scoreposts), so here are the elusive SDVX scores i never posted right before moving onto IIDX

NOW, IIDX TIME!!! of course, i was playing for fun while also working towards greater skill, but i also really wanted to play for a different, very specific reason...

THIS SONG!!! Denjin, akatsukini taoreru, which i didn't even KNOW had a beginner chart!!!

I def played a bunch more than just that though, and got a couple of really nice scores for a beginner this session, including a CLEAR ON LION SUKI SPN-4 AT LAST!!! (also a really goofy fail on VOX RUSH SPN-8 even though i was nowhere near the skill level to clear it and just really liked the song)

right before i left, i played another set or two of DDR to bid it farewell, and it just kept getting BETTER!! like check out this first try clear on Ishtar CSP-16!!! then, to close off the session, i tried the challenge difficulty of my favorite song and somehow got an AAA??? even despite missing along the way??? hell YEAH my acc was indeed getting better if i could pull this off on an 11. that derusting session on the 12th was INSANELY beneficial for this moment, i'm so glad i got my skill back so soon :]

March 12th, 2021 - DDR A20 PLUS, IIDX 28, DRS

AND TODAY IS THE DAY

AFTER SLIGHTLY OVER A YEAR OF BEING FORCED TO QUARANTINE AND RHYTHM GAME FROM HOME, ARCADE SCOREPOSTS ARE FINALLY BACK!!!

just look at that beautiful cab that's been awaiting me... after so long without it... that beautiful A20 PLUS logo that i get to experience for the first time... life truly has its wonders

so anyways, i shoved a credit into the game and played my very first arcade set in a year (in a mask, of course), and it... did not go as smoothly as i was expecting. an 80k downscore compared to my best from when i was 14??? disgusting. AND THEN A 915K ON A CHART THAT I HAD ALREADY PFC'ED?? WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AFTER ALL THIS TIME??? I THOUGHT I WAS ALREADY GETTING GOOD THANKS TO DDR II AT HOME

but it was probably just first session rust (even though i didn't realize it at the time), because immediately the next set after this one, i got a first try AA on STEP MACHINE of all charts!! the technical one that's impossible to acc!!!

despite such a good first try, i was still disappointed with my scores and took my mind off things by trying the OTHER WONDERFUL GAMES I HAD MISSED SO MUCH!!! LIKE THE NEW IIDX VERSION THAT I HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN ABLE TO EXPERIENCE

JUST LOOK AT THAT SHINY BLUE STYLE!!! THAT BEAUTIFUL LOGO!!! okay the logo is a bit fucked up but THE CAB LOOKS SO COOL

i still kinda suck at the game though so the only score i took was this A rank on Reiwa(1991 RAVE REMIX) with himmel being silly. also attaching it here due to lack of space; i played a set of dancerush as well while i was at it!!! i am still such an amazing dancerush acc player

right before i left with my family (since this session just came to be since they wanted to go to the mall), i played one more set of ddr to see if i was still garbage, and surprisingly i got this score on Drop The Bounce ESP-15??? a 90k upscore even though i was convinced i was extremely rusty... and then i failed Hella Deep on extra stage which killed the illusion of skill. but otherwise not bad at all!!! i was promised that i could return and have a full-length session in 2 days, which is exactly what you'll see in the next scorepost!

A CLEAN 99 POINTS ON TRUE BLUE STARDOM REMIX!! and MY FIRST EVER AAA ON DDR, BROKEN MY HEARD BSP-5!!! also unlocked the Wretched Chart that everyone hates . oh dear

October 2019 - DRS, WACCA, SDVX VW, DDR A20

now it's time... to become a DANCERUSH ACC MAIN!!! (a bad one albeit)

this is a time where i'm still kinda mesmerized by dancerush and wanting to play it more, even if it's more of a freestyle game than a competitive one. but it's SO FUN I WANNA KEEP PLAYING

i played more wacca like last month and felt super confident after my MISSLESS S on Knight Rider Hard, but then immediately got humbled by Are You Ready Expert and... then i got conflict'd

i also played sdvx for the first time today!!! i might've tried it Once in my first month, but i tried it once more this time because NHELV GOT ADDED WOOOO

and lastly; i'm still not exactly great at it, but i'm starting to play expert on DDR at this point despite wanting to avoid it as much as possible when i first went to round 1. i still have several more ddr scores from this month that i'll put in a separate post!
