the thunderbolts when you’ve been kidnapped

pictures from pinterest
tags- guilt, fear, angst, kidnapping, guilt, canon level action/violence, injuries, mentions of arguing, implied drugging/beating, mention of Void
notes- This all ended up being way longer than I intended. Oops. I need to keep writing or else I’ll explode. The fixation is strong
Yelena
When you’re with Yelena, she can be so tender and sweet that it’s easy for you to forget the life she’s lived and the things she’s capable of. The day you don’t come home from what should’ve been a 10 minute grocery run, that tender side is gone - and boy is it sorely missed around the tower. When Yelena's upset, she lashes out at anybody who gets too close to her, and it gets ugly pretty quickly. Her words are cruel and vindictive, as if each member of the team is personally responsible for what’s happened to you. She knows the people who took you are doing it to lure in the "new avengers", but it doesn't matter. It's working. She's going to find you, and she's going to march right in there, guns blazing.
You're in bad shape when the team finds you, but you are able to walk out on your own two feet with just a little assistance from Yelena. Pay no mind to what happened to your captors. It's not important.
Yelena can't go "back to normal". You're trying to, but it's clear you're still shaken, and so is she. You keep trying to laugh it off and say that you've survived worse, and she knows you're just trying to change the subject, but she doesn't push it. She's not going to force you to open up if you're not ready. All she can do is make sure you know that she's always there to support you and listen if you ever do decide you want to talk about it. You do know that. As everyone in Yelena's life knows, she might be a bit rough around the edges, but she will always be there for you when it matters most.
Bucky
Bucky tracks you down very fast. He knows these people are doing this to get to him, so he tells the Thunderbolts to stay behind and let him do this himself. Good thing they never do as they're told.
The people who took you thought they had laid the perfect trap for Bucky Barnes, but all they did was set themselves up to be pulverized by the Winter Soldier. When he does find you, you're unconscious and clearly injured. Nothing serious, but it doesn't matter; he feels more guilty than he has in a long, long time. The team covers Bucky as he runs back out to the car with you in his arms, and you're immediately rushed to the hospital. The press is already there, waiting to ask Congressman Barnes all kinds of questions about what happened tonight, but after a few choice words from Yelena and Walker, most of them leave immediately.
Even when things slowly start to go back to normal, Bucky is constantly reminded of what happened. You're sitting around and laughing with the group one night, weeks after, and he notices a bruise on your shoulder that he'd forgot you had. He wakes up in the middle of the night a lot of nights to you tossing and turning and shaking in your sleep. He holds you and repeatedly reminds you that you’re home and that you are safe. He’s reminding himself, too. This is all hell for him. Every nightmare, every scratch, and every bruise is a reminder to him that he couldn't keep you safe. He rescued you and brought you back home, but it's not enough for him. This never should've happened.
Ava
Ava woke up to the sound of alarms and glass breaking. She phased through the walls to your room right away to make sure you were okay, but you were already gone. Nowhere to be found. She’s immediately panic stricken. Who did this? Why would they take you hostage? Where did they take you?
Ava’s desperate. When Ava gets desperate, her sense of right and wrong gets very skewed. You’ve been kidnapped, and that’s wrong. Everything she’s doing in an effort to get you back is right. Or that’s how she sees it, at least. The rest of the team sees this as Ava spiraling out of control. This is a mess. These people who took you do not realize what their "leverage" means to the team, especially to Ava. They do not know what's coming.
Your rescue was not easy, and it definitely wasn't pretty, but everyone's just happy that you're home. Adjusting to business as usual after your rescue is tough, but she's there for you every step of the way. If you don't want to sleep in your room for a little while because it doesn't feel safe anymore, Ava offers you her room. She'll sleep on the ground, she'll sleep next to you, she'll sleep in the other room, whatever you want. She'll demand more security features in your room and around the tower to make you (and herself) feel safe again. If the people in maintenance and security were to question the necessity of doing this, Ava would install these features herself. Nothing like this is going to happen again, and she doesn't even want you to feel like it's a possibility. You're safe now.
John
It all happened so fast. An explosive had gone off during a fight, he’d lost sight of you for a minute, and when the smoke cleared, you were gone. He frantically searched the perimeter, but it didn’t take him long to realize what had happened. Bucky practically had to beg John to get in the car, saying they could figure out their next move back at the Watchtower. John really didn't want to stop looking for you, but he knew it was the only choice he really had. Everyone's really worried about you, but John is losing his mind. His brain is plagued with images of you, scared and alone and hurt. He's snapping at the team even more than usual, but they give him a pass just this once. Ava walked by his room one night and she could hear the sound of him softly crying through the door. She never mentioned it, but she went easy on him for a few days.
Down in a dark, cold underground base, you're going in and out of consciousness. Your body aches and your head's spinning, but the moment you register that it's Walker gently taking you into his arms, you smile up at him weakly. He caresses your face, and you can feel that his hands are shaking as they trace every little wound, no matter how small. All of Walker's anger has been replaced with a weary, guilty sadness. All that aggression, replaced with a certain gentleness. He carries you out, and although you don't see much of your surroundings, it's hard to miss what remains of the poor souls who thought they could stop John Walker from breaking in to save you. It's not too shocking, though. You know he would've torn the entire world apart if he had to.
Alexei
Missions and fighting and hero activities in general are usually really fun for Alexei. This is not fun. It's so rare for the team to see him like this. He's downright miserable. Since the moment he lost you, he hasn't slept. He works alongside the team all day long to find you, and when everyone's asleep, he just paces back and forth around his room, which gets more cluttered with garbage and papers and files with each passing day.
When they find you, nothing and no one can stand in his way. He's a real sweetheart, but let's not forget how strong he is or how much damage he can do. Believe me, there's a lot of damage done in the name of your rescue. All of that is worth it for Alexei when he finds you. He gently wipes at the sweat and dirt on your face, a lot of which is dry and caked on after you've been sitting down there for nearly a week.
Alexei is so relieved to have you home, but he thought he'd feel better. There's still something... off. The illusion of total safety has been shattered. He's not able to keep you from ever getting hurt like he thought he was. If you were to try to joke about what had happened to keep spirits up, or spin it to sound like a cool story instead of the worst week of both of your lives, he'd try to go along with it. But everyone notices how his smile doesn't quite reach his eyes. He's proud of you and he usually loves hearing you're cool tough stories, but this one is hitting a little too close to home for him to fully enjoy it. Maybe because he was there. Maybe because he almost lost you for real.
Bob
Bob's terrified. The team came back from a mission, but instead of you pulling him into a big hug while the team fills him in on what happened like usual, everyone is frantic and you're gone. He's never felt so helpless in his life. He breaks down the second he's alone in his room. Whenever Yelena tries to talk to him, he insists he needs to be alone, or he doesn't even respond and continues just rocking back and forth on the floor and talking to himself.
When the team tracks you down, they tell Bob to stay behind. He keeps telling himself that they're right and staying behind is the responsible thing to do, but he just can't do that. He has enough control on the Void now to use his powers, right? The team is slightly horrified when Bob shows up out of nowhere, doing everything they told him not to do, but this isn't the time to worry about that. They're definitely not going to try arguing with him right now. He's a bulletproof human shield, more powerful than any of them could ever hope to be, so it's good to have him there to help. He crashes through walls, busts down doors, and disarms everyone in his path without breaking a sweat. Then they find you. Bob rushes to your side and tears apart your restraints with his bare hands, and in a second they turn back into the gentle hands you think of when you think of your Bob. He helps you to your feet and slowly leads you back outside. As tears start to roll down his face, Bob smiles a soft smile at the others, thrilled that you're safe again. They smile back at him, but it's like they're all holding their breath until you're all fully out of there. Void may not have made a formal appearance this time, but they know now what lengths Bob will go to and what risks he'll take to ensure your safety. The man is not helpless, and he sure as hell isn't weak.

Right Where You Left Me
Hey, lovelies! ✨
Here it is — Chapter 2 of Eli and William’s story. This part dives deep into one of the heaviest moments in their journey, and it includes some serious emotional content. Please make sure to read the trigger warnings below, and don’t hesitate to skip this chapter if it feels like too much. Your well-being always comes first. 💛
I know this chapter might feel a bit slower, but that’s intentional. I really wanted to take the time to show what William has been going through during these five years while Eli’s been in a coma. It's raw, it’s painful, and yes — it’s super angsty — but I hope it helps you connect even more deeply with their story.
Thank you for reading, and as always, I appreciate you all so much. 🫶🏼
Themes/Warnings: Hannah Elise Hughes x William Nylander, discussion of injury, coma, emotional distress, depression, suicidal thoughts
Chapters: 01, 02
Chapter 2: The Weight of Silence
The hospital was cold. Not just the air — the whole place felt cold, like it was made to hold grief and pain in every corner. The sterile white walls, the harsh buzzing of fluorescent lights, the beeping of machines that were both too loud and too quiet at the same time. It all pressed in on them, suffocating in its calmness.
William’s body ached, the sharp pain of broken ribs pulling at his every breath, but it was nothing compared to the dull, endless throb inside him — the kind of ache that spread through his chest and tightened his throat. He wasn’t sure if it was the pain of the accident, or if it was the agony of not knowing. Not knowing if you’d wake up. Not knowing if you were even still in there.
Around him, everyone else was just as broken.
Your mother couldn’t stop shaking. She kept wringing her hands, pacing the small waiting room with her head bent low, murmuring under her breath. “Please, please, please...” Her words were like a prayer — desperate, broken.
Jim was trying to hold it together. His hand was on her shoulder, but even he seemed hollow, like the weight of the world had crushed the strength out of him. He wasn’t crying, but his eyes — they were different, empty. They weren’t looking at anyone. They weren’t looking at anything.
Luke was sitting by the window, curled up in the same position he’d had since they arrived — his legs drawn to his chest, arms wrapped around them like a shield. He wasn’t crying out loud, but his shoulders were shaking. Silent sobs, silent pain. It was too much for him. He was just a kid.
Jack wasn’t crying. He didn’t know how to. Instead, he stood across the room, fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles were white. His jaw was set in that angry line that everyone knew so well. His eyes kept darting to the door, like if he stared at it long enough, someone — anyone — would come in and tell them it was all some horrible mistake. That you’d be fine. But no one came. No one had anything to say.
Then there was Quinn. Quinn was the one who didn’t react. Not visibly. He stood with his arms crossed, his face still. It was like he was trying to distance himself from everything. He looked... controlled, but it wasn’t the kind of control that made things better. It was the kind that made everyone feel a little more alone.
William sat in one of the plastic chairs, head in his hands. He could still feel the impact — the screech of tires, the slam of metal against metal, the airbag exploding in his face. He could still hear your voice. Or at least, he thought he did, just before everything went black.
I’m sorry, he thought again, but the words didn’t come out. There was no one to say them to. No one could hear him. You were back there, in surgery, and he was here — broken, waiting, useless.
A soft click. The door to the waiting room opened, and a doctor stepped inside. He was tall, with dark hair, his eyes hidden behind the mask of professionalism. The second he walked in, everyone straightened up. It was like a collective breath was held, waiting for something to hold onto.
"Family of Hannah Elise Hughes?" the doctor asked, his voice measured, controlled. The room collectively held its breath, waiting.
Your mother rushed to him, eyes wide with desperate hope. "How is she? Is she okay?"
The doctor hesitated, and for a split second, it felt like the world had stopped moving — like the answer could change everything, could change the reality they were all facing. The words he said next were cold, clinical. “She’s stable. We’ve completed the surgery, and she’s been moved to intensive care.”
William’s chest tightened at the mention of surgery. It sounded too final. Moved to intensive care — those words clung to him like a shadow he couldn’t shake. It felt like everything was slipping through his fingers, like he was holding onto sand and the more he grasped, the faster it slipped away.
Your mother stepped forward, her breath catching in her throat. "But she’s going to wake up, right? She’ll be okay?"
The doctor’s face softened slightly, but there was something in his eyes that made William’s heart sink. He avoided your mother’s eyes and turned toward the rest of them. His voice remained steady. “Elise is in a coma. Her injuries were severe, and right now, it’s impossible to say when — or if — she’ll wake up.”
The words landed like a blow. William’s chest constricted, and for a moment, he couldn’t breathe. The room spun slightly, as if his world was tilting, and nothing felt real. Impossible to say when, or if... The doctor’s words felt so final, as if there was no room for hope, no space for anything but the cold reality that had just been laid out for them.
“She sustained a traumatic brain injury during the accident,” the doctor continued. “There was significant swelling in the brain, which we are trying to control. She’s on a ventilator to assist with breathing. We’ll continue monitoring her vitals closely.”
William’s mind raced. Brain injury... swelling... ventilator... The words were like a language he couldn’t understand, but each one hit him harder than the last. He could feel the pressure building in his chest, suffocating him.
"Is there... any chance she'll—" Your mother’s voice wavered, breaking. She couldn’t finish the question. She didn’t have to. It hung in the air, unanswered.
The doctor took a slow breath. “It’s too early to say. We’re doing everything we can. Her body is strong, but the brain is delicate. We’ll need to see how she responds over the next 24 to 48 hours. There’s no guarantee.”
William’s stomach twisted painfully. No guarantee. Those words were the final nail in the coffin of any hope. His hands tightened into fists at his sides, his knuckles pale, his breath shallow. It felt like he was being smothered by the weight of it, like the hospital — the world itself — was caving in on him.
The doctor’s gaze lingered on him for just a moment, but William couldn’t meet his eyes. He couldn’t look at anyone. He felt like everything around him was fading, becoming distant, unreal. All he could think about was you, lying in that cold hospital bed, and how he had failed you.
Your father, Jim, was the next to speak, his voice thick with emotion. "What are the odds, Doc? What are the chances she’ll make it?"
The doctor hesitated. He shifted on his feet, clearly trying to find a way to say something that didn’t sound like a death sentence. “We don’t know yet. It depends on how her brain reacts to the swelling. If it begins to go down, there’s a chance she could regain consciousness. But again, there are no guarantees.” He paused, searching their faces. “The next few days are critical.”
William’s mind went blank. Critical. He felt his body go numb, like the ground had been pulled out from under him, and he was falling, sinking, with nothing to hold on to.
Ellen, her voice barely above a whisper, asked, “How long does she have? If the swelling doesn’t go down...?”
The doctor swallowed, his throat tightening. “We’ll do everything we can to manage the swelling, but if her brain doesn’t respond — if the pressure continues to build — there’s a chance the damage could be irreversible.”
The words felt like a punch to the gut. William’s world spun in slow motion as the doctor’s words sank in. Irreversible. His vision blurred, the room swaying as if it were underwater.
There was a ringing in his ears, growing louder and louder, until it drowned out everything. He couldn’t focus. He couldn’t think. He couldn’t move.
“I’m so sorry,” the doctor said quietly, and then, as if sensing that there was nothing more to say, he turned and left. His footsteps echoed down the hall as the door closed behind him, leaving the family standing in a kind of stunned silence.
William didn’t feel like he was even there anymore. He was floating, disconnected from everything. The words kept playing in his head, over and over. No guarantees. Critical. Irreversible. It was as if the doctor had delivered a death sentence, and William couldn’t escape it. He wanted to scream, wanted to beg, wanted to shake something — anything — to make it all stop.
But there was nothing. Nothing but the hollow ache in his chest, the guilt clawing at him, the cold reality that you were back there, lying in a bed with machines keeping you alive, and there was nothing he could do to change it.
He was lost. Utterly, completely lost.
—
The days had blurred together. The hospital no longer felt like a place they were just visiting. It had become the center of their world — sterile walls, plastic chairs, the constant hush of white noise, and machines that beeped in rhythm with a heartbeat belonging to someone who hadn’t opened their eyes in nearly a week.
William hadn’t left the hospital much, not for any real rest. He’d spent most of his time by your side, holding your hand, praying — though he didn’t know who or what he was praying to anymore. His ribs had started to heal, the pain dulling into a constant throb, but it didn’t matter. His chest was still heavy with the weight of everything. He was there, he was alive, but the thought of waking up tomorrow and not seeing your smile, or hearing your voice, made his chest tighten with panic.
He couldn’t bear the thought of this silence stretching on forever. No more little jokes between the two of you, no more teasing about who’s turn it was to do the dishes. No more hearing you hum absentmindedly when you were cooking, or laughing at something silly on TV. The idea of living in a world where those moments didn’t exist anymore… it was unbearable. He had no idea how to keep going without you. How could he?
Now, standing in your room with your brothers, he felt that same knot tightening in his stomach. The doctor had just left, his words as vague as they had been the first time. We’re still monitoring her. She’s healing. No change. The swelling in your brain had gone down, but the doctor couldn’t explain why you still hadn’t woken up. There were no answers, only questions. And the longer it went on, the more it ate at them all.
William looked around the room. Quinn stood by the window, arms crossed, gaze distant. Jack leaned against the wall, jaw tight, fists clenching and unclenching like he was fighting something inside himself. Luke sat hunched in a chair near the corner, hoodie pulled over his head, eyes puffy and red.
Finally, Jack broke it. His voice was rough, tinged with frustration and an anger William had never seen in him before.
“She should be awake by now,” Jack said. His tone was low, but it cut like glass.
William didn’t answer. He kept his eyes on your hand, his fingers brushing over yours, careful and gentle. You were warm. That was all he had to hold onto.
“She’s in there. Somewhere,” he murmured, almost to himself.
Jack let out a sharp, bitter laugh. “Yeah? You sure about that?”
He shoved off the wall with a jerk of his shoulder, crossing the room in three quick strides. The space between him and William evaporated.
“All I see is wires and machines and people pretending she’s still here, but no one wants to fucking say it.”
“Jack—” Quinn said quietly from the window, his back still turned.
“No.” Jack’s voice trembled now, rage rising to the surface. His hands clenched at his sides. “I’m sick of this. Sitting here like everything’s just gonna fix itself.”
He stepped closer to William, standing directly over him now — a shadow cast across the hospital bed. William felt the shift in the air, like a storm building.
“You were driving.”
William looked up slowly. He knew those words were coming — had been waiting for them — but hearing them out loud still made something twist in his chest.
Jack leaned down, pointing now, voice shaking with fury.
“You. Were. Driving. And if you hadn’t come into her life — if you’d just stayed the hell away — she’d still be fine. She wouldn’t be… this.”
Quinn finally turned, stepping forward, his jaw tight.
“Jack, stop!”
But Jack ignored him, eyes locked on William like he was daring him to flinch.
“No!” Jack barked, breath coming faster. His face was flushed, his whole body vibrating with pent-up grief and rage. “Everyone’s acting like this was just some tragic accident. Like it just happened.”
He gestured wildly toward the bed. “It didn’t. He happened.”
William didn’t move. Didn’t blink. His voice, when it came, was low and hoarse.
“You think I don’t know that?” he whispered. “You think I don’t wake up every five minutes hoping I was the one in that bed instead of her?”
Jack’s lip curled into a cruel smile as he stepped closer, but Quinn was faster—slipping between them and stopping him with a firm hand to the chest.
“Good,” Jack spat over Quinn’s shoulder. “You should feel that.”
“That’s enough!” Quinn snapped, pushing back against him. His voice was louder than it had been all week, sharp with fury. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
Jack’s shoulders heaved as he tried to shove past, but Quinn held firm.
“She’s my sister!” Jack yelled. His voice cracked under the weight of his emotions. “And she’s gone! And I can’t do a damn thing about it!”
“And blaming Will won’t bring her back!” Quinn fired back. “So stop acting like you’re the only one who gives a damn!”
“Enough!”
Silence.
Thick. Suffocating.
But they all turned.
Luke sat curled into the hospital chair. His hoodie was pulled low, eyes red-rimmed but clear. He hadn’t spoken in days. But now, his voice had weight.
“I know you’re scared,” Luke said, lifting his head slightly to look at Jack. “I am too. But yelling doesn’t help. Blaming doesn’t help.”
He nodded toward the bed.
“She’s not waking up. And I don’t know why either — but this?” He looked between them. “This doesn’t fix anything.”
Jack stared at him, caught off guard, like someone had thrown a glass of cold water in his face.
Everyone was still. Listening now.
Luke turned to William.
“You didn’t do this on purpose,” Luke said, voice rough. “She loved you the most, Will. My sister—she chose you. She built her future around you. I remember those calls before the wedding… endless calls about invitation fonts, ribbon samples, napkin shades.”
He let out a broken laugh that caught in his throat. His eyes shimmered. “God, I hated those calls. Thought they were a waste of time. Just noise. But now…now I get it. She wasn’t fussing over details. She was dreaming. Piecing together a life. Your life. And she was so fucking happy doing it.”
He blinked hard, steadying his voice, but the tears slipped down anyway — silent, unstoppable.
“I’d give anything to hear one more of those dumb calls right now.”
William didn’t speak. Couldn’t.
Luke looked back at Jack. “She needs all of us right now. And she’d be crushed to hear you blaming Will. You know how much she loved him. And us. This—” He gestured at the tension in the room. “This would break her heart.”
He looked away, then back, softer, lower, but no less fierce.
“You think you’re the one hurting most Jack? You’re not the one in that hospital bed.She is.”
He inhaled deeply, a shaky breath that barely steadied him. His gaze softened as he glanced toward his sister, but when it turned back to Jack, his eyes were unflinching.
“She’s the one who had her skull cut open. Who might not wake up. And if she does, there’s no promise she’s even still… her.”
He stared Jack down, voice low and sharp.
“So stop acting like you’re the one who lost everything. You didn’t.”
“And you,” Luke turned back to William, “need to stop blaming yourself. The other driver was drunk. You couldn’t have stopped that. But she’s still here. Still fighting. And she needs you. You don’t get to disappear into your guilt. Not now.”
The silence after Luke’s words didn’t fade—it settled. Not empty. Not gone. Just... quieter. Like something heavy had finally landed between them all.
The silence in the room stretched—no longer sharp, but fragile.
William’s hand was still wrapped around yours, and for the first time in days, he let the others see him. Not the version of him that had been holding it together, barely speaking, lost in the routine of machines and beeping monitors. But the real one—the shattered one.
He exhaled shakily, then lifted his head. His voice came low, rough with exhaustion and emotion.
“You’re right,” William said quietly.“I don’t get to disappear. And I don’t want to.”
He turned to face the three of them.
“I need you to know…” he started, but the words caught. He exhaled a shaky breath, eyes flicking up toward the ceiling as if the words might be easier to say if he didn’t have to see their faces. “I need you to know what it was like.”
His eyes dropped again, locking on Jack’s. Not in challenge. In grief. In need.
“I didn’t drink that night,” William said, quietly but clearly. “Not a sip. I remember everything. I kept both hands on the wheel, like I always do. I wasn’t on my phone, I wasn’t distracted. I wasn’t speeding—I wasn’t even pushing the limit. I checked the mirrors, I slowed at the yellow. I did everything right. I followed every rule, every instinct.”
“And it still happened. The headlights came out of nowhere.” He paused, his chest tightening. “We were laughing—God, she was laughing. Singing ‘Old Town Road,’ like she always did when that awful song came on the radio. Just being her.”
He inhaled sharply, fighting the memories. “I didn’t see the other car until it was too late. I swerved, slammed the brakes, but it was too fast. It hit us anyway.”
His head dropped.
“Eli lost consciousness just a few seconds after the crash. I saw it—her eyes… she tried to blink, like she was still there, still fighting. But then her eyes just… closed. And they didn’t open again.”
He stared at the floor for a long moment, his chest rising and falling with each labored breath as he tried to gather himself. His gaze flickered toward her, but he quickly looked away, like seeing her that way would break him.
“The car…it landed right on top. I couldn’t reach her. The door had crushed in. Everything was twisted, jagged. I was stuck, pinned in place. And I didn’t know if she was alive. I couldn’t feel her pulse. I couldn’t hear her breathing.”
William’s throat tightened, and he squeezed his eyes shut, fighting the emotion threatening to overwhelm him.
“I just kept calling her name. Over and over. Yelling for her to wake up. But she didn’t.”
His voice dropped lower, barely a whisper, as if confessing a secret he couldn’t keep any longer.
“I started praying,” William said, his voice cracking. “Not for me. Not for any damn miracle for myself. I prayed that if she wasn’t coming back, if she was already gone, I wouldn’t have to stay here. I didn’t want to be in this world without her.”
He let the silence hang between them, the words heavy, suffocating in the room.
“ I couldn’t live in a world where she wasn’t there anymore.”
Quinn stepped closer, but didn’t touch him. Just stood beside him, steady. Listening.
“I love her so much,” William whispered. “More than anything. I would’ve married her a thousand times. I would’ve built a life with her in a shoebox if that’s all we had. I would’ve given up everything else just to see her happy. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. And now she’s lying there, and I don’t know if she’s ever coming back.”
He turned his eyes back to the bed.
“I talk to her every night when you’re all asleep,” he said, voice soft again. “I tell her stories. Remind her of the stupid inside jokes. The time she burned the pancakes but said they were ‘extra caramelized.’ How she’d hum in the shower without realizing. I play her voice notes, just so the sound of her laugh fills the room.”
A tear slid down his cheek.
“I just... keep thinking maybe she’ll hear me. Maybe if I love her hard enough, she’ll come back.”
There was a long pause. Then Jack, who hadn’t moved since Luke had spoken, let out a breath like something inside him finally broke open.
He nodded once, slowly.
“I just—I’m so fucking scared,” Jack whispered, his voice breaking. He didn’t need to say more. William heard the fear, the desperation in his tone, and saw it in the hollow look in his eyes.
“Me too,” William replied, his voice barely above a whisper.
The anger that had been there before was gone now. All that remained was the rawness of shared grief, shared fear. Luke stood, walking over to your side, his hand gently wrapping around yours, a silent promise. Quinn stepped forward, placing a hand on William’s shoulder, a gesture of support that held more weight than words ever could.
Jack stood a little further back, hands still clenched at his sides, but his gaze softened when it met William’s. He was still holding onto something, some part of the anger, but it was fading—slowly.
William took a steadying breath and, for the first time, spoke the words he’d been holding back for what felt like forever. “I’d die for her. But that won’t change a thing.” He paused, looking back at you. His voice softened. “I just need you with me when she wakes up. We need to be here for her. Together.”
The silence stretched between them, but it wasn’t heavy anymore. It wasn’t a silence of tension or anger. It was a silence of understanding.
Jack exhaled slowly, his eyes fixed on you for a moment before he nodded, his voice soft but certain. “Yeah. I think we can do that.”
—
One Year Later
The anniversary of the crash crept up on him like a storm, quietly gathering strength until it had him pinned beneath its weight. He should’ve seen it coming, but he didn’t. One year. A year since everything had shattered.
William had tried to go back to life like it was before. The games, the locker rooms, the routines. Everything had become a kind of blur of motion. Practice, meetings, games. He buried himself in it, because when he didn’t, the silence from the hospital, the weight of the empty spaces in his apartment, were unbearable.
The doctors had said you were healing. You were “fine” now. On paper. They said your body was healed, the swelling in your brain gone, that there was no reason for you not to wake up. But the truth was, nothing had changed. You still hadn’t opened your eyes. You still weren’t there. And every day, William pushed the truth deeper into himself, buried it somewhere in the back of his mind, where it couldn’t get out and strangle him.
Pablo and Banksy, the dogs you had left behind for him, were all that remained of you in the house. Every time he saw them, a sharp pang of guilt gripped him. He had promised you he would care for them, but they were a constant reminder of what was lost. He couldn’t understand how they kept going, their tails still wagging, waiting for a voice that would never return.
He should’ve been grateful for them. They should’ve been his reason to keep going. But some days, it felt like they were just another reminder of the gaping hole you had left in his life. He hadn’t felt truly alive in a year. He hadn’t felt right in so long. But every day, he plastered on a smile, showed up to practice, and went through the motions. He was playing well. At least that was something.
But tonight was different. Tonight, it felt like the walls were closing in. The weight of everything—his silence, his shame, his guilt—was finally starting to crush him. It was the anniversary of the crash. He could feel it pressing on his chest, a physical reminder that he hadn’t healed at all. Not really. He had just been pretending.
The dogs were lying at his feet, watching him with those innocent eyes, waiting for him to move. But he couldn’t. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he was suffocating, like the world was too big and his place in it was too small.
He had no answers for the questions that kept swimming in his mind: What if I had done something differently? What if I hadn’t driven that night? What if I wasn’t the one who…?
There was a lump in his throat. He was starting to lose the battle against it. The fake positivity, the force-fed hope—everything he had built to get through the last year was crumbling, piece by piece.
He stood up from the couch, pacing across the apartment. His hands were shaking. His breath was coming too fast. The noise of his own thoughts was deafening. He couldn't breathe, couldn't think, couldn't stop the heaviness that was settling into his bones.
He couldn’t do it anymore. He didn’t know how to keep pretending. He didn’t know how to keep fighting, keep hoping.
He walked toward the kitchen, his hands reaching for the bottle of whiskey on the counter. It was like it was calling to him, offering him an escape. Maybe just a drink, maybe more, just enough to numb the pain for a little while.
He reached for it, his hand shaking slightly. He didn’t want to do this. He didn’t want to keep pretending, didn’t want to keep up the facade of strength.
As he poured the whiskey into a glass, his eyes flickered to the counter, where something else lay in his peripheral vision. The knife.
His stomach twisted as he stared at it. It wasn’t new. He’d kept it there for a while now. Just in case, he told himself. It was always there, just in case. Just for the days when it felt like the darkness was swallowing him whole and there was no way out.
He set the glass down, taking a step closer to the counter. His fingers hovered over the handle of the knife. He didn’t need to do this. He knew that. But the ache in his chest—the unbearable, suffocating pain of living without you—was louder than his common sense. The loneliness, the guilt, the guilt of feeling like he could never be enough without you. It made everything else blur.
What if I just end it all now? What if the pain stops for good?
The thought was so heavy, so pressing, that it took everything in him not to reach for the blade. His mind was spinning, a tornado of thoughts and emotions. He knew it wasn’t the answer. He knew he wasn’t thinking straight. But the darkness—the kind that had been creeping up on him for a year now—was overwhelming. And he felt like he couldn’t breathe under the weight of it.
He picked up the bottle again, took a long swig. The burn did nothing to numb the ache inside him. Tonight nothing could. Not the alcohol, not the distractions, not the hockey games. Nothing could fix the gaping hole that was left when you weren’t there anymore.
A tear slipped down his cheek. The thought of you still lying in that sterile hospital room, your body healed, but your mind still trapped somewhere he couldn’t reach—it tore him apart.
And then, just as the darkness threatened to consume him completely, there was a knock at the door.
William didn’t move. He didn’t answer. His whole body felt like it was made of lead, heavy and unwilling to respond.
Another knock, louder this time. “Nylander, I know you’re in there,” Auston called from the other side, his voice firm but gentle. “Open the damn door, man.”
Something about the way Auston said it hit William deep, like someone had reached inside his chest and grabbed hold of his heart. Maybe it was the sound of concern in Auston’s voice, or maybe it was the fact that someone was there at all.
William’s hands were still shaking. The whiskey bottle was half-empty now, and the knife—he could still see it out of the corner of his eye. He felt trapped between what he wanted to do and what he knew he had to do.
The knock came again, more insistent this time.
“William, you don’t have to do this alone.”
Those words hit harder than he expected—like a jolt of electricity straight to the chest. He wasn’t alone. Not really. He’d just spent so long pretending he was, pushing everyone away, keeping everything buried deep. But Auston was right. He didn’t have to carry it all by himself. And truthfully, he didn’t want to. He was tired of the silence. Tired of being alone.
He took a shuddering breath and he reached for the knife on the counter. Paused for a moment, then slipped it back into the drawer where it belonged. The bottle of whiskey was still in his hand, but now, it didn’t feel like an answer anymore. It felt empty. Useless.
With a shaking hand, he wiped his face, quickly wiping away the tears before they could fall. He didn’t want Auston to see him like this. He didn’t want anyone to see him like this. But he was out of options.
The door knocked again, and this time, William forced himself. He shuffled over to the door, his body stiff and exhausted, his heart still racing.
He opened it slowly, his eyes red-rimmed, his expression empty, like he didn’t know who he was anymore.
Auston stood there, his eyes soft with concern, but there was something else in his posture—strength, like he was prepared for this, like he had been waiting for William to finally let someone in.
“You don’t have to talk if you’re not ready,” Auston said gently, but there was no mistaking the quiet intensity in his voice. “But I’m not leaving, Willy.”
—
Three Years Later - Christmas Eve
The snow crunched under William's boots as he made his way to the hospital, the familiar chill of December biting at his skin. The city was alive with Christmas lights, but for him, it all felt a little muted, like the world was celebrating without him — without you.
It was Christmas Eve. Your favorite night of the year. A time when the world felt a little warmer, a little more magical. The night you’d always made extra special. It had been the same every year — lights on the tree, cinnamon filling the air, your laughter echoing through the house as you spent hours wrapping gifts.
And years ago, it had been the night William asked you to marry him. He hadn’t known then, in that perfect moment, how quickly everything would change.
William shoved his hands deeper into his coat pockets, his breath coming out in little puffs of white mist. He’d come so far in these three years. The therapy, the constant support of his friends, and the passing of time had all helped, in their own ways. He was no longer consumed by the suffocating blackness he’d once felt. He had stopped questioning whether he was strong enough to live without you. But nothing could take away the weight of what he’d lost. Nothing could fill the space that had once been filled by you.
He remembered how alive you’d been that night, the way your eyes had sparkled when you’d said "yes" — how right everything had felt. The future had been a promise, wide open, full of potential.
And then the crash.
The crash had stolen all of it.
He took a deep breath, shaking off the dark thoughts that lingered at the edges of his mind. The fact that you hadn’t woken up after all this time—that had been the hardest pill to swallow. The doctors had been clear. At your two-year anniversary in the hospital, they’d had a conversation with your family. A conversation that crushed everyone’s hopes without saying a word. The chance of someone waking up from a coma after two years was 0.2%. Not impossible, they’d said, but so close to it that it hardly seemed worth believing.
William had curled into himself that day, trying to block out the world, but deep down, he knew. He had accepted it. Maybe not fully, but he had come to understand that your body might never respond again. That you might never wake up, and he’d have to live with that. He didn’t know how to let go, but he couldn’t hold on to false hope anymore.
Still, he came to the hospital every year for Christmas Eve. It wasn’t just a tradition. It was the last piece of the life he had before all of this. And no matter how hard it was, no matter how much it hurt to see you lying there, still, year after year, he couldn’t stay away. Not on Christmas.
He reached the familiar entrance of the hospital, the doors sliding open in front of him. The fluorescent lights inside didn’t feel cold anymore. They felt like home in a weird, bittersweet way.
Inside, the hospital was decorated with paper snowflakes and tinsel, as it had been for years. The Hughes family was already there — the steady comfort of them around your bed, their presence a reminder that, even in the deepest grief, he wasn’t alone.
William stepped in quietly, and they all looked up.
“Hey, Willy,” Luke greeted, his voice a little strained.
"Hey, Lukey" William replied, his voice thick with emotion. He crossed the room slowly, his feet dragging just a little more than usual. When he reached your bedside, he paused, his fingers brushing lightly against your hand as if afraid he might wake you — as if touching you too much might shatter something delicate.
For a moment, he simply stood there, taking in the sight of you. His heart twisted. It felt like a lifetime ago that he had asked you to marry him — the memory of that night, the way you had smiled at him, how alive you had been. And now... now it felt like that night was part of a distant, forgotten world. A memory that both still lived in him and yet, somehow, had already slipped away.
“Hello, love,” he whispered, his voice faltering just a little. “You look beautiful.”
And he wasn’t lying. Your blonde hair still shimmered like a halo, and for a moment, you seemed like an angel who had fallen from the sky. You were thinner now, but you were still his Eli—his brilliant, beautiful wife.
From the corner of the room, Jack cleared his throat. “We’re glad you’re here, man,” he said softly, his usual brashness subdued tonight. “Christmas wouldn’t be the same without you.”
William nodded, offering Jack a faint smile before he settled into an empty chair next to Quinn. He sat back for a moment, taking it all in — the familiar faces, the quiet chatter, the strange comfort of their presence. It was strange and familiar at the same time. All of them, here, sharing a meal in a hospital room, the holiday decorations stark against the sterile environment. There was something warm about it, but it was also wrong. It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
Ellen, acting as if nothing was out of place, fussed around the table, making sure everyone had enough to eat. Her hands moved with that motherly precision, and she shot William a gentle, knowing look.
"You're still a little thin," she said with a teasing smile, placing an extra portion of food in front of him. Her voice was soft but firm, like a mother who’d never stop caring, even when the world felt like it had fallen apart. “Eat!”
Jim leaned back in his chair, a wry smile tugging at his lips. “So, what do you think, Will? Are the Leafs finally going to make it past the first round this year?” He raised an eyebrow, looking over at William.
"Yes! This is our year," William replied, deadpan but with a spark of dry humor in his eyes. He appreciated the question—how it shifted the air in the room just enough. “I can feel it.”
Jack scoffed immediately, already grinning. “Oh really? The Leafs? That’s like saying a Christmas miracle’s coming. You’ve said that every year since I was in high school.”
Luke leaned forward, elbow on the table, expression full of mischief. “I’ve got more faith in Pablo learning how to cook dinner than the Leafs making it past the first round.”
Quinn didn’t even look up as he chimed in, calm and quiet. “No chance, man. But I admire the delusion.”
“Hey!” Ellen cut in, her voice sharp with faux offense. “Stop bullying the poor boy. Karma’s gonna bite you all in the ass when Toronto actually wins something.”
That earned a round of laughter, warm and easy. The kind of moment that didn’t feel so heavy for once. The boys kept at it, tossing jabs back and forth, their voices overlapping and playful like a rhythm they’d never forgotten.
Jack picked up a forkful of dessert, bit into it, and immediately pulled a face. “Mom, what even is this? I think I chipped a tooth.”
“Oh, stop being dramatic and eat it,” Ellen said, waving him off with a roll of her eyes.
William laughed quietly, the sound catching in his throat before it softened into something more genuine. For a minute, it was almost easy to forget where they were. Easy to pretend this was just another Hughes family Christmas. You were still the quiet center of it all, even without speaking a word.
—
Later, the room had quieted. The plates were cleared, the lights dimmed to a soft golden glow. Outside the window, snow drifted down in lazy flakes, blanketing the night in silence.
Jim and Ellen sat tucked together in a large armchair near the corner, a shared blanket thrown over their legs. They weren’t saying much—just leaning into each other like they had for decades, heads tilted, eyes glassy from wine and memory.
Across the room, William sat with Luke, Quinn, and Jack. Each in their own chair, holding mismatched mugs of mulled wine. Your recipe. William had brought the spices himself — the same ones you used every year. The smell was perfect. Cinnamon, cloves, oranges. It lingered in the air like you were still in the kitchen singing to yourself, teasing Jack for stealing another sip.
Luke took a long breath and leaned back, his eyes half-closed. “Still the best mulled wine in the world,” he mumbled.
Quinn nodded. “Yeah… she made it every year like it was nothing. But somehow, it always tasted like home.”
William didn’t say anything. He just wrapped his hands around the mug a little tighter and stared into it, breathing in the warmth.
A long moment passed before Ellen stirred from the armchair. She shifted, gently untangling from Jim, and stood up slowly, crossing the room with a kind of hesitation that immediately put William on alert.
She sat down on the edge of the coffee table, facing him. Her hands folded in her lap.
“Will,” she said softly, and her voice had that tone. The one moms used when they didn’t want to hurt you, but had no other choice.
He looked up at her slowly. “Yeah?”
She smiled, but there was sadness behind it. “We’ve been talking. As a family.”
William didn’t move. Didn’t breathe. The tension rose slowly in his chest.
Ellen glanced over at Jim, then back at William. “We never thought we’d be the ones to say this. Honestly, we assumed… after what the doctor said last year, that maybe… maybe you’d be the one to pull away. To start moving on.”
The room went very quiet.
“But you didn’t,” Ellen continued gently. “You stayed. You’ve stayed every step. And I love you for that. We all do.” Her voice cracked slightly. “You’ve loved her better than we could have ever hoped.”
William swallowed hard, his jaw tightening.
“But, sweetheart,” she whispered, “She’s not coming back.”
The words hit like a punch, even though they weren’t new. He’d heard them before—from doctors, from the silence in your hospital room—but never like this. Not from Ellen. Not with her hand reaching out to rest on his knee.
“I know that’s brutal,” she said. “And I would give anything to be wrong. But… William, you deserve more than this endless waiting. Elie… she wanted a family with you. She told me once how excited she was to see you with kids. Said you'd be the kind of dad who builds ridiculous treehouses and braids doll hair without flinching.”
That made William huff a small, broken breath. Almost a laugh. Almost.
“She wanted that future with you. But that future’s… it’s not here anymore.”
Behind her, Jack was watching quietly, his face tight. Luke stared into his mug. Quinn’s hand had stilled on the armrest.
Ellen squeezed his knee gently. “We love you, Will. You are family. You always will be. But we don’t want this to be your whole life. You deserve to heal. You deserve love. Kids. Joy that’s not buried in grief.”
William blinked hard. His throat burned. “I don’t know how to let her go.”
“You don’t have to,” Ellen said. “You just have to let her memory live beside you. Not ahead of you.”
He didn’t speak. Couldn’t.
So she reached forward and took his mug, setting it on the table. Then she pulled him into a hug.
“You’ll never stop loving her,” she whispered into his shoulder. “None of us will. But it’s okay to live again.”
William didn’t speak at first. Just sat there with Ellen’s arms still wrapped around him, his whole body locked in that numb place between guilt and grief. When she finally pulled back, her hand lingered on his cheek before returning to her lap. The others were quiet, letting the moment breathe.
Then, softly, Quinn said, “Have you talked to anyone about… next steps? Like legally?”
William blinked. “What do you mean?”
Quinn hesitated. “Your marriage. Technically.”
William sat back like he’d been hit. His mouth opened, then closed again. His throat worked around a word that didn’t come.
“I’m not divorcing her,” he said finally, low and flat.
“No one’s asking you to file papers tonight,” Quinn said, gently but firmly. “But you’ve been married to someone in a coma for three years, Will. You don’t date. You don’t travel. You barely leave the city unless it’s for games. And you’re still wearing your ring.”
William looked down at his hand as if seeing the band for the first time. It gleamed faintly in the soft light.
“It would feel like breaking a promise,” he murmured. “Like admitting she’s gone. Like giving up.”
“You’re not giving up,” Luke said, suddenly speaking up. “You’re surviving. There’s a difference.”
Jack nodded. “We’re not telling you to stop loving her. God, Will — we could never. But you’ve put your entire life on pause. That’s not love. That’s… that’s punishment.”
William clenched his jaw, breathing through his nose. “I can’t picture dating anyone else. I can’t imagine having kids with someone else. I still think about what our kids might have looked like.”
“And that’s okay,” Ellen said, reaching for his hand again. “It’s okay to carry those dreams. But you don’t have to stay stuck inside them. Elie would never want that. She wouldn’t want her memory to be the reason you stopped living.”
“I don’t know how to let it go,” he said, his voice cracking. “Every time I think about it, I feel like I’m betraying her. Like I’d be erasing her.”
Jim spoke up for the first time, voice quiet but steady. “Then don’t erase her. Make space beside her.”
William looked at him.
Jim shrugged slightly. “You’re allowed to carry her with you while building something new. People who’ve lost someone — they don’t move on. They move forward.”
There was silence again. A deep, thoughtful stillness.
Luke leaned forward, elbows on his knees. “You’ll never stop being part of this family. Not if you date, not if you take off the ring, not even if you… one day, God forbid, fall in love again. We’ll still be here.”
“We’ll always be here,” Quinn added.
William’s eyes were glassy now. He looked from face to face, and for the first time in a long time, he let them really see him. The wear on his shoulders. The sorrow in his eyes. The part of him that was so tired from pretending he was okay.
“I don’t know if I can,” he said. “But… I hear you.”
Ellen exhaled shakily, smiling through tears. “That’s all we’re asking, sweetheart.”
Jack lifted his mug slightly. “To Elie. And to Will—whenever he’s ready.”
One by one, they all echoed it.
William lifted his mug last. His hand trembled slightly. “To Elie,” he said, voice rough. “And to… maybe, someday, something more.”
They clinked their mugs together, the sound soft and warm. And in that quiet hospital room, lit by a string of old fairy lights and the ghosts of Christmases past, something shifted — not fully healed, not fully free. But lighter.
It was a beginning.

Spoiler Warning for Transformers One. Please go see the film, it's great.
Something occurred to me when rewatching Elita-1's firing scene:
Right off the bat, she's presented as an absolute unit in the mines. We see her being a very by-the-book character. She's incredibly competent, strong, serious, focused, and an effective leader.
Maybe a little too effective.
We learn that Sentinel goes out of his way to personally take care of any "anomalies" in his system and does so in a way where the blame always gets shifted away from him.
It's why he personally went to see Pax and D-16 after the Iacon 5000 race. He makes himself out to be the open-minded, compassionate leader he's been parading as.
When Darkwing throws Orion and D-16 into sub-level 50, neither bot suspects Sentinel for their demotion. In fact, they beg Darkwing to talk to Sentinel so he can sort out the "misunderstanding".
It's later confirmed that Sentinel never had any intention of talking with Orion or D-16 after their first meeting. When Orion reunites with his fellow miners later in the film, they mention that Sentinel put out a statement saying that they both died from "racing injuries".
Sentinel might've not even openly ordered Darkwing to dispose of them. Darkwing might've been manipulated into thinking everyone was mocking him for losing the race (thanks to lowly miners) making him want to get rid of them.
Subconsciously manipulating someone like Darkwing would've been easy for Sentinel.
Sentinel clearly does not tolerate anyone rising above the station he imposes on them.
So what does this have to do with Elita-1 being fired?
We see her rigidly following the rules, meeting all quotas, running a tight and efficient crew. She's doing her job as a miner, a role unknowingly forced upon her by Sentinel, perfectly.
Shouldn't Sentinel be happy about that?
Well sure...
If Elita wasn't actively trying to get promoted.
We don't get a lot of information about how promotion works in TFOne's mining system, but we do know that in other iterations of pre-war Cybertron, one of the only ways miners could rise out of the mines was by participating in ridiculously difficult gladiatorial fights in Kaon's pits.
In other iterations, this was how D-16/Megatron was able to escape his station and how he grew to be so strong.
So basically, whatever version you look at, the miners are told "if you work really, reeeeally hard, and do your job perfectly, and don't die in the process (which, odds are, you will) you might, MIGHT get a chance to get out of the caste you were born into."
It's BS.
It's an impossible feat. No one is actually supposed to be able to achieve that goal, but it's the metaphorical carrot dangling in front of the work mules so they don't notice the ever-tightening rope around their necks.
But every so often there's someone extraordinary, like Elita, who actually manages to meet this impossible standard and with whom it becomes increasingly difficult to deny this coveted promotion.
So what can Sentinel do about bots like Elita-1?
Simple.
Wait for a screw-up.
It must happen eventually.
A member of Elita's team, Orion Pax, in clear violation of evacuation protocol, goes back into the mines to save Jazz from getting crushed to death.
Despite managing to escape, the closing mine causes a tunnel support to be flung into nearby machinery (which doesn't look critical and could probably be easily fixed).
Then, right the heck outta nowhere, Darkwing drops in, SECONDS AFTER THE INCIDENT JUST HAPPENED, and immediately fires Elita.
No "What happened?" or "Who's responsible?" or "The supervisor wants to see you", he just pops into the scene and demotes Elita, arguably one of the best workers in the mine, to a bottom-tier waste management position.
As if he'd been on standby, actively waiting for a reason to fire her.
"But Elita herself wasn't the one who screwed up!"
Doesn't matter.
"But she told them to follow protocol!"
Doesn't matter.
"But Orion admitted he was the one at fault!"
Doesn't matter.
"But a bot was saved! Jazz would've died!"
Does. Not. MATTER.
Her firing is presented as the typical "one character says thing won't happen then thing immediately happens" joke, but given how so much thought went into so much of TFOne's background details, I can't help but wonder if this was a hint to how broken the system was and how it was always rigged in a way that ensures the miners will never get out.
Not to mention, once Orion, D-16, and Jazz safely escape, she chews Orion out by saying, "If I get fired for this..." meaning this abrupt, out-of-nowhere, baseless firing is absolutely typical.
That's what makes Elita's "I'm better than you" speech to Orion that much more meaningful, because in many ways, she is better than him.
She's a better worker, better fighter, better at completing the task at hand, better at making sure things run smoothly. She is, ironically enough, an efficient and perfectly-running machine.
But had Orion not dragged Elita to the surface, she probably would've spent her whole life obediently following the rules, never questioning why things were the way they were. She was so focused on rising up within the system that she could never look beyond it.
Elita might be the cog by which other cogs turn.
But Orion is the spark that shows them a better way.
That's why he was given the Matrix.

Hello! Can I request the lads boys with a reader that’s typically super composed losing their composure? It could be something serious or super small, they just hit their breaking point.
Okay, this might be longer than I intended it to be but les go
Zayne
Zayne flinches slightly when you slam the door shut as you enter.
“Hello, dear”
“I can’t fucking believe it”
Zayne raises his eyebrow. He has never, and he can swear that he never, ever heard a swear word coming from your mouth, nor has he ever seen you this angry.
“Don’t these people look where they’re going at all? Look at my shoes, they were white when I left home this morning. At least three people have stepped on me. What the fuck?”
Maybe Zayne should thank god that you don’t notice how he sneaks a glance at the calendar and once he makes sure it is nowhere near your period he stands up and approaches you, however, you interrupt whatever he is going to say while you’re pacing back and forth.
“Then I was late to work, and to make matters worse I got stuck in the elevator. I was there for at least half an hour. And when I finally meet Jenna, because that’s why I was there actually since it’s my day off, I found out that I can’t go to any mission for at least three days, because a certain doctor doesn’t recommend it”
Zayne’s eyes widen at her last sentence. No, he’s not scared of you, generally. But he’s also never seen you like this. The thing is, you and Zayne are on the same wavelength. Both of you are calm and composed, even during arguments, which are rare, none of you raise your voice. Now he’s standing here watching you pace around in his office and shouting curses because you had a bad day, part of which is apparently his fault and… he fears for his life.
Only when he sees angry tears does he come out of the trance and grab your hand pulling you to him. He cups your face and you look up at him with a frown.
“Okay, take a deep breath with me” he inhales deeply and you copy him. He does it a couple of times before seeing you slightly relax “Good. Now, listen to me. I understand you had a bad day and I’m sorry that you can’t go on missions for a few days, but you had an injury a week ago”
You open your mouth to speak but he shushes you with his finger on your lips.
“Shh, let me. I know it’s healed, but you were on bed rest and even if you feel like it, you’re not completely fine. Let’s give it a few days, hm? Trust me, I’m not doing this just because.”
You stay silent and Zayne sighs.
“I’ll be off in an hour. How about you wait for me? Then we can go home and have hot chocolate while watching the show you’ve been begging me to watch together for weeks.”
“I wasn’t begging…” you mumble as you look down.
“What was that?”
“Okay”
“Okay,” Zayne kisses your forehead before you get comfortable in the armchair in the corner of his office.

‘Well, she needs a fucking exorcism’ is his first thought as he sees you stomping in his studio. Apparently, your cat is lost, and Rafayel might or might not have something to do with it. In his defense, it wasn’t on purpose. How could he have known that if he’d leave his door open that little devil would run away?
“I knew I shouldn’t have left him with you, I’m so stupid- actually no, you’re so stupid. How the hell did you lose him?”
“I told you, I left the door-”
“I know what you told me, it was rhetorical- god is your brain of a fish too?”
“Wow, that’s mean”
Rafayel pouts slightly and he would become dramatic in a moment if it wasn’t you being dramatic right now and you weren’t even doing it on purpose. Oh no, Rafayel has never seen you this furious, nearly having a mental breakdown and his brain short circuits.
“He must be so scared and hungry and… lost” You sniffle and Rafayel realises you’re crying.
“Hey, hey, look. We’ll find him okay? Thomas is out there searching for him. I’m so sorry I lost him but we’ll get him back, I promise”
“How? You don’t even-”
“Look who I found”
Thomas enters the studio with an orange cat in his arms. You run to him immediately and Rafayel sighs in relief. He thinks you would actually kill him if Thomas couldn’t find the cat.
“I owe you my life” he whispers to Thomas.
Rafayel approaches you, eyeing the cat in disdain.
“I’m never leaving you with him,” you say to your cat.
“Oh- oh no. Please don’t take him away from me”
You laugh at his sarcastic answer.
“I’m sorry I called you stupid”
If Rafayel couldn’t act dramatic before, now was the perfect time.
“Yeah, you should be. That was really mean, you know? Your words pierced through my heart like a dagger-”
You cut him off with a kiss
“Does this make up for it?”
“What was I talking about?”
You laugh.
Xavier
Xavier has never in his life regretted anything like he regrets letting you play on his gaming console. Who would know that as much as you are calm and collected, there is a rage in you that only the videogame can take out on the surface. Maybe not. Xavier knows you've been stressed lately and maybe you're taking everything on your teammates in some stupid videogame. Either way, it doesn't look good.
“Are you serious? You are a support for fuck’s sake, why are you taking my kills? I’m the adc here. I’m playing with degenerates”
You’ve been shouting at the screen for so long that Xavier becomes tired. He tries to tune you out, he really does, but there’s only so much he can take. He gets up from the bed and unplugs the gaming console. You look at him like he just stabbed you in the back.
“Wh-what- why? Oh my god, I’m gonna get banned for being afk”
“It’s my account, I’m gonna get banned and I don’t care. This game is driving you crazy… and me”
“But-”
“No,” he says it like, you’re a kid “Come to bed, I wanna take a nap”
“I’m not sleepy,” You say while yawning and Xavier chuckles slightly.
“Okay, come on”
You take his hand and drop to bed, taking him with you.
“I bought a new hero, by the way”
“YOU SPENT MY GOLD?”
“Shh, let’s sleep”
You shush him quickly as he grumbles something under his breath. Whatever, it's a much healthier coping mechanism anyway.
Sylus
Sylus didn’t expect to see you bawling your eyes out when he entered his bedroom. To say, he is surprised, would be an understatement. The most out of control he has seen you is when you… well, when you wanted to kill him, to be honest. Even then, he pulled the trigger on himself. So seeing you in his room, sobbing in his bed is something new and terrifying. In a second he is beside you, gathering you in his arms while you sob into his chest.
“Sweetie, tell me what’s the matter. You know I can make it disappear, whatever it is… or whoever it is.”
You don’t answer, couldn’t answer. But you try to get ahold of yourself.
“He-” and a sob escaped your lips again.
Sylus stayed silent to give you time to gather your words as he planned the most painful ways to murder whoever ‘he’ was, in his mind.
“He loved her and he didn’t tell her, because-” you sniffle as Sylus gets more and more confused “because he thought she would never look at him”
You grab the book beside you and suddenly everything makes sense. You’re crying because of a book. Sylus almost laughed, but he stopped himself from making a grave mistake.
“But she loved him too and now she’s married but they both still love each other. And she named her son after him”
Sylus understands half of it as he wipes your tears.
“What do I do with you, kitten, hm?”
“What?”
He laughs before kissing your cheek
“I’ll get the bath ready and tell me about the book while we relax, okay?”
“Okay”
“And maybe next time, don’t give me a heart attack”
You frown.
“It’s really sad. Doesn’t it affect you at all?”
“Fictional tragic love? Not my cup of tea. But coming home and seeing you having a mental breakdown over a book affects me… a lot, may I add”
You laugh sheepishly
“Sorry”
He kisses you, before disappearing into the bathroom.
Caleb
Caleb has known you since childhood and has seen every side of you… or so he thought. He can swear he has never seen you so angry and to make matters worse, you’re angry at him. Now he regrets every life choice he has ever made.
“Okay pipsqueak, calm down-”
Another apple comes flying to his face and he barely avoids it.
“Don’t tell me to calm down, you asshole. Am I your prisoner now? You locked me in your house while you were god knows where and even had the nerve to not answer my calls. I swear-”
You try to throw another apple at him but he grabs it before you can.
“I know, I know. I’m sorry but I wasn’t near my phone, what was I supposed to do?”
“Maybe not lock me into the house?” You exclaim.
“Oh, you’re so hot when you’re mad”
There is a moment of silence before you lunge at him.
“Fuck, sorry, I shouldn’t have said that- Ow!” He rambles as you hit his chest repeatedly. He steps back and trips over something. Next thing he knows, he’s on the floor and you’re on top of him, straddling his waist. You are breathing heavily as you blow loose strands of your hair from your face.
“There’s something wrong with you”
You say calmly and he stays silent.
“Why would you-”
“You tried to leave”
He says suddenly.
“What?”
“How would you know you were locked in if you didn’t try to leave?”
You look at him dumbfounded and almost started pounding on his chest again.
“I didn’t know what to expect when you’d wake up and I had to go to work. I didn’t want to come home and find you gone so I did what I could think of… And I really wasn’t near my phone when you were calling me, I swear.”
“you are so stupid”
You mumble as you get up. He follows you and dusts himself off.
“I wanted to get some air, take a walk but no my boyfriend is a paranoid freak”
“I’m your boyfriend?”
He grins suddenly. You watch him for a minute before letting out a scoff
“An idiot is what you are”

Inappropriate Feelings
Pairing: WandaNat x Reader
Word Count: 2.4k
Summary: you have feelings for two married women. When it gets in the way of your work they confront you
Warning this contains: praise kink, mommy kink, daddy kink, bondage, face riding, strap usage, fingering, orgasm control, name calling (just one time)
Part 2
You shouldn’t feel this way about one married woman, let alone two. You know it’s wrong. The way you feel when their hands ghost over yours. When they brush past you in the hallway or when they talk to you.
You get butterflies in your stomach. Your breathing gets short and it gets hard to think. Being around them is hard, your feelings always get in the way. They cloud your judgement until all you can think about is them kissing you, loving you, touching you.
Your feelings didn’t get in the way of your job, at least it didn’t until a few weeks ago.
You were on a mission with the two women, confined in the small space of the quinjet for hours. You struggled to remain calm around them. Your senses were in overdrive as they walked around the jet, talked to you. If you were naive you would even think they were flirting with you. But they’re married and you know better.
You struggle with your feelings, something you normally never do on a mission, until you finally landed at the job site. There you try to stuff your feelings down, trying to compartmentalize in order to complete the mission.
The three of you walked out of the hanger doors and run into the Hydra base you are meant to infiltrate.
It was supposed to be an easy mission. A simple mission. But nothing is ever easy when you’re an avenger.
You got ambushed, it was all a set up. And because you got distracted by how good Natasha looked while she was fighting a bad guy, you got shot.
It was just a bullet to the leg. Everyone gets shot at some point in your line of work. So to you, it was no big deal. But to Wanda and Natasha it was everything.
You had never seen them so upset and pissed off. You’re not sure if they were pissed with you or with the agent who shot you. You didn’t ask, too scared of the answer.
They spent the next couple of weeks taking care of you. Helping you get around the tower, h getting you anything you need, and eventually helping you with physical therapy.
You appreciated their help but all it did was remind you how they’re not yours. No matter how good being helped and babied by them feels, it’s not going to last.
So when you’re better, you push them away. Which is what you’re doing now. It's been weeks since you were healed and you're now able to do things on your own. The only thing left from the injury is a scar that is here to stay.
It's also been two weeks since you have seen them, touched them, interacted with them. But it's for the best this way, at least until you can get your feelings for them under control.
You're about to go train when Natasha puts herself in your path. You move to turn around, but she reaches out a hand to stop you.
“Come on. We need to talk,” Natasha says. Her tone is serious, her words short and to the point. Her words leave no room for arguments so you follow behind her as she walks the two of you to her room and shuts the door.
Wanda is already in there, sitting on the bed.
"You know what I think I'm needed elsewhere," you say, suddenly nervous about what's about to happen.
"No you don't baby," Wanda says. A red glow encases the door before it fades. You try the door and it's locked.
"Wanda," you whine. "Let me out." Your fists bang on the door and you attempt to pull the handle but you have no luck.
"Not until you tell us what's wrong." Concern is written all over her face. You can see it in her eyes. In the way she furrows her eyebrows.
"I can't," is all you say.
"Then I guess we'll be in here for a while." It's Natasha who speaks this time. Her eyes watch you, moving up and down. She's watching you like she's stalking prey, like she's just waiting to attack. And then finally recognition dawns on her face. She says nothing, just looks at Wanda. You think the two are having some sort of telepathic conversation, but you're not really sure.
"If you don't want to tell us we can always guess," Natasha suggests, breaking her eye contact with Wanda to look at you.
Wanda moves in front of you and situates herself so that her front is pressed against your front. You can feel her nipples through her thin t-shirt. You can smell her vanilla perfume and her strawberry shampoo.
You move to back up but Natasha stops you. She stands behind you, one hand on your waist, pinning you in place. You're trapped between the two women. It's like your wet dream come to life, if only they weren't interrogating you about your pesky little feelings for them.
"Now are you going to be a good girl and tell us the problem?" Natasha asks. Her words send a thrill down your spine and a sticky straight to your core.
You nod your head no, too scared that your voice would betray you.
"It's okay baby. We know what the problem is," Wanda says, her tone sickly sweet. Her lips get close to yours. So close that you can feel her breath ghosting over you. If you wanted to you could count the flecks of brown in her eyes.
“We see how you look at us baby,” Natasha says, her lips ghosting over your exposed neck.
"I can hear your dirty little thoughts about us, thoughts you think no one can hear," Wanda whispers. Her words are like a bucket of ice water that has been dumped on you. They're sobering.
"I-um," you stumble out. Even though you're an avenger, you're stumped on what to say. You can't think of a lie that could save your ass right now.
"It's okay baby. You wanna know a secret? We like you too," Wanda says. Once the words leave her mouth her lips capture yours in a heated kiss. You kiss her back, reciprocating her affection.
Natasha, who is still behind you, peppers kisses up your neck. "You have no idea how much we like you detka."
"I think I'm starting to understand," you say against Wanda's lips.
The two woman move you over to their bed and lay you down.
"Is it okay if we tie you up," the red haired woman asks.
"Please," is all you say.
"I told you she'd like it," Wanda quips.
"Mind reader," you say, rolling your eyes.
"What was that baby?" Wanda pins you to the bed with her hand around your throat.
"Nothing mommy I'm sorry."
"There's my good girl. You're catching on quick, huh?" You nod yes and Wanda removes the hand from your throat and steps back to let's Natasha take over.
Natasha reappears in your line of sight with rope in hand, although you never actually noticed her leaving. She makes quick work of tying your hands to the bedpost, leaving you completely at their mercy.
"How's that feel?" Natasha softly asks you.
"Good."
"If it's too much say red and everything stops okay?"
"Okay daddy."
"Good girl." The praise leaves your core aching, but you're sure the two women will fix that soon.
Natasha is on one side of you while Wanda is on the other. The two women are standing over the bed, just admiring you.
"You're so pretty like this, all spread out for us," Wanda says.
"We just need to get these pesky clothes out of the way," Natasha says, looking at Wanda. Wanda nods in understanding because the next thing you know you're naked, bare and exposed before them. Wanda also removes their own clothes, so you can see all of them. It's the most beautiful sight you've ever seen. And based on the looks on their faces they are feeling the same about you.
As if it is a practiced dance Wanda moves to your head while Natasha moves between your legs, sucking and biting your thighs. She's teasing you, ignoring the place you want her most.
While Nat does that Wanda straddles your face, her legs on either side of you, caging you in.
"Come on baby, stick your tongue out. Let mommy ride your face," Wanda encourages. You stick your tongue out and Wanda lowers herself onto your face, grinding back and forth. Her clit bumps into your nose with each thrust, causing her to moan loudly.
"You making mommy feel good baby?" Natasha asks, still pressing teasing kisses to your thighs. You groan in response, which makes Wanda tremble above you.
While Wanda continues to ride your face, Natasha finally stops her teasing. She spreads your legs and positions herself between them.
"Such a cute little wet pussy," Natasha murmurs before she slides a finger up your center, making you gasp.
"Please daddy," you try to say, but it comes out all garbled from Wanda being on your face.
"It's okay baby I'll give it to you." Natasha slides a finger into you, making you moan out. Wanda's movements stutter above you, you can tell she's getting close the longer she rides you.
"Fuck," Wanda moans out. "You look so pretty when I ride you baby." Wanda's movements speed up as she chases her orgasm while you're chasing your own. Natasha's finger pistons inside you and then she adds another. The pleasure intensifies and you can feel the coil in your stomach getting ready to snap.
"Please let me cum," you try to say, although it comes out mumbled. You're thankful that Natasha can understand you.
"Come on baby. Cum on Daddy's fingers." Her words are all it takes for you to let go. Your body spasms and shakes as your release hits you. Your moans vibrate through Wanda's pussy and also send her over the edge. You swallow everything she gives you, licking your lips when she gets off of you. She walks into their closet while Natasha climbs up your body and leaves a gentle kiss on your lips.
"You were such a good girl for us baby," Natasha says. "But we know you can give us more." The glint in her eyes is intoxicating, it makes you want to give her more orgasms until you're completely spent and putty in their arms.
Wanda walks back out with a strap on around her waist. The scarlet colored strap dangling between her legs. It's bigger than anything you've ever taken, and you say so.
"It's okay baby, I'll make it fit." Wanda's words have you getting wet all over again. Wanda positions herself in between your legs, and slowly pushes into you.
"Shh it's okay detka," Natasha says, comforting you. She kisses you softly, distracting you from the burning stretch of the dildo entering you. Natasha slowly pulls back and brings a hand to your clit, rubbing in circles.
Wanda sits there with the strap still for a few minutes, letting you adjust.
"You can move," you finally say.
Wanda fucks up into you. The strap hits places inside of you that you didn't even know exist. It feels amazing, but you're still not quite satisfied.
"Daddy," you moan out. "Wanna please you." You want, no need, to please Natasha. You want her to cum on your face, feel the same kind of pleasure you're experiencing right now.
"You want daddy to sit on your face sweetheart?" Wanda asks, continuing to fuck you.
"Please," you beg.
"Give our little slut what she wants Natalia." Wanda keeps fucking into you. The strap feels amazing inside of you and you can feel your orgasm building.
Natasha lowers herself on to your face, suffocating you with her pussy. If this is how you were to die you would die happy. You stick your tongue out and lap at her pussy, tasting her. She tastes sweet and you can already tell her pussy is a taste you'll be craving for the rest of your life.
"There you go baby," Natasha moans out when you slip her clit into your mouth and suck on it. "Keep on sucking me just like that."
Wanda continues to fuck into you and soon you're close. Your hips are bucking up to meet hers, your moans become more frequent. You're desperate for release.
"You can cum when Nat cums,"" Wanda tells you, invigorating our efforts to make the redhead cum as fast as possible. You suck on her clit harder and soon you have Natasha seeing stars. She smooshes your head between her thighs, her orgasm overtaking her body. She cums in your mouth and you swallow it all.
Once Natasha stops shaking and gets off of you, Wanda gives you permission to cum. Your pussy clenches around her strap and you scream out. The pleasure is too good, it overtakes your body and leaves you spent. Your body turns to jello as Wanda slowly slips out of you.
Wanda takes off the harness and throws it off to the side. The two women collapse beside you, one on either side. Wanda uses her magic to untie you and the ropes disappear. The only sign that they were ever there are the faint rope marks around your wrists, which Wanda notices.
"Give me your wrists." You give Wanda your wrists and she magics some ointment beside her. She opens the jar and rubs the cream on one wrist while Natasha does the other.
"Anywhere else hurt?" Natasha asks.
"No," you say.
"You sure honey?" Wanda's use of the nickname honey has you melting against her.
"mhm I'm sure."
"Good girl," Natasha says, proud of you for speaking up. Her words have the flame in your core reigniting. The praise goes right to your pussy.
"Daddy," you whine, wanting the two of them to use you again. Wanda notices your excitement and puts a stop to it.
"Natalia!" Wanda exclaims. "Stop teasing her. She needs to rest before we use her again."
"But she likes it when I tease her, don't you baby?"
"Yes daddy," you agree.
"Shhh baby your mommy's right. You need to rest so we can have some fun later okay?" Natasha says, like she wasn't just instigating and teasing you.
"Okay," you pout, not truly happy about this decision, but you know you need the rest. Your muscles ache, your body spent in ways it hasn't been in a while.
The two women choose to ignore your pouting, this time.
"Rest baby. Then we'll make you feel good later," Wanda says. You nod in agreement and situate yourself in between the two women. Natasha wraps an arm around you while Wanda tangles her legs with yours. The quiet, calm atmosphere lulls you to sleep. You fall asleep excited for what's to come, knowing round two will await you when you wake up.

summary: your mouth gets you into serious trouble
warnings: head injuries, implications of blood
notes: i don’t enjoy the way i wrote this or ended it that why it hadn’t been posted but y’all really wanted this one. the chances of this getting rewritten is extremely high 😭
There’s something about game days that gives you a rush like nothing else. Maybe it was your love for the game, the pure, unfiltered joy of stepping onto the pitch and knowing you were exactly where you belonged. Or maybe, just maybe, it was your love for talking shit.
As much as it might sound horrible, you couldn’t help it, there was something deeply satisfying about getting under an opponent’s skin. You loved watching the way their faces scrunched up in frustration, the way their movements got just a little more reckless, a little less focused. You didn’t always say much in your opinion, just enough. Just a glance, a smirk, a well-timed comment whispered under your breath as you walked past. You didn’t need to scream to make someone unravel. You just needed to smile at the right moment.
By the time you were in the locker room, boots laced, hair slicked back, headphones blasting, you were practically vibrating with energy. The speaker in the corner of the room was booming with Sexyy Red, the bass making the walls hum as you danced around in your compression shorts and undershirt, hyping up everyone in sight.
“Let’s gooooo!” you shouted, clapping your hands as you bounced from one side of the locker room to the other, pulling teammates into your orbit whether they liked it or not. “They don’t know what’s about to hit them today, I’m telling you right now!”
Jana was laughing, boots half-on, as you danced behind her and smacked her shoulder pads like drums. Mapi whistled at you as you slid on your socks and started freestyling some chaotic chant that made absolutely no sense but got everyone screaming anyway. The vibe was electric, loud, unhinged, exactly how you liked it.
You stood on the bench, arms wide, head thrown back as you yelled, “They gonna have to call the fire department after this game ‘cause I’m about to set this whole pitch on fire!”
The locker room exploded in laughter and cheers except for Ona, who was leaning against her cubby, arms crossed, trying not to smile.
“Your mouth is going to get you in trouble,” she said, shaking her head at you.
You jumped down and stuck your tongue out at her. “They gotta catch me first.”
Then you turned right back around, shouting over the music, “This is our house! Let’s make them regret ever showing up today!”
The nerves melted off you completely. You were in your element. You were ready to go to war. And win or lose, you were going to make damn sure they remembered your name.
The air was tense at Camp Nou, thick with anticipation even though the scoreboard read 5–1. You had two goals already— one in the first half, one just ten minutes into the second, but you were hunting for blood. The crowd buzzed with every touch you took, the energy crackling like static. Wolfsburg was playing dirty, and you were playing right into it.
They had two defenders on you now, crowding your space every time you got near the box. You were talking mad shit, your voice cutting through the drizzle and noise, lips curling into a smug grin. And not just in Spanish or English, you’d spent the last few weeks learning German just so you could spit it back at them on the pitch.
“Du bist zu langsam, komm schon!” You shouted as you flicked the ball through their legs. (You're too slow, come on)
You could feel how pissed they were getting, and it only fueled you more.
Across the pitch, Alexia cupped her hands around her mouth. “Estrella! Cool it!”
You waved her off without turning around. “I got this, mami!”
The whistle blew. Play resumed. You took the ball at midfield and spun out of a tackle like you were made of wind and fire. The defenders tried to hold you back, but you slipped through the cracks like you were born there. You could feel her chasing, nipping at your heels, but you kicked into another gear, outrunning her like she was standing still. One touch. Another. Back of the net. Hat-trick.
You slipped as you turned to celebrate, the wet grass catching you off-balance, sending you to the ground. You laughed to yourself, raising an arm as if to say did you see that?!—but before you could even move—
Crack. A blinding pain split your skull, and your vision went white. You didn’t even hear the roar of the crowd; everything was static. Everything stopped. The stadium went dead silent. You didn’t move.
Ona was the first to react— she sprinted to you, panic all over her face, with Jana right behind her. Patri and Lucy had already turned toward the Wolfsburg defender, fury etched across their faces. The ref stormed in, pulled a red card from her pocket like it burned her hand, and shoved it in the air.
Alexia stood frozen. Eyes wide. Mouth open.
Ingrid touched her shoulder. “Ale.”
Alexia blinked, stumbled forward, then sprinted.
She dropped to her knees beside you, her hands shaking. “Estrella, Estrella—” Her voice cracked.
You didn’t move. On the bench, the girls were already crying. Vicky’s hands were clasped over her mouth, tears streaking down her cheeks. Sydney was crying too, hugging her tight.
The medics arrived fast, sprinting across the pitch with the stretcher, but time had warped— every second felt too long. Ona and Jana were ushered away, both of them breaking down as they backed off, whispering to each other between choked sobs.
Up in the family box, Eli had her eyes squeezed shut like she was praying. Her lips moved, no sound escaping. Alba’s hands were shaking so badly she could barely hold her phone. “She’s okay. She’s strong. She’s okay,” she repeated over and over, as if saying it would make it true.
Olga sat stiffly, holding Eli’s hand in both of hers, her eyes closed, jaw clenched. She couldn’t look. She couldn’t breathe.
Soleil stood a few rows down in the stands, surrounded by friends who were trying to soothe her, but she couldn’t hear them. Her eyes were locked on you. Her chest felt like it was caving in. You never looked like that. You were always fire, always motion, always larger than life. And now, you were still. Too still.
The medics huddled. Pere ran down from the technical area. One of the medics shook their head. Silent tears ran down Vicky’s cheeks. Sydney covered her face.
Finally, slowly, you stirred. Your hand twitched. Your lips moved. Alexia exhaled like it hurt. She stayed beside you as they loaded you onto the stretcher, brushing the damp hair from your face. You didn’t open your eyes all the way, but you reached for her hand— and she held on like she’d never let go.
The crowd clapped. Loud. Raw. Hopeful. As they carried you off the pitch, Alexia walked beside the stretcher, hand in yours. Silent, but present. Your team watched. The world watched as you were, for once in your life, silent.

Helloooo! I was wondering if you are taking requests for Wind Breaker?
If yes, can I ask for a story or headcanons about Suo meeting and getting curious (and eventually falling for) a f.reader who is like a princess for Shishitoren?
In my head it would be funny to see Suo challenging and interacting with Choji and Togame (who are already threatening Suo to stay away from the reader). I mean, he can be kind of mean when he wants, and still wear a smile.😆
Thanks for hearing me out!
And let me say, I realllyyyy love the way you write!🩷
Shishitoren's Princess (& Her Guard Dog) | Hayato Suo x Reader
Word Count: 7471
୨ৎ Read me before interacting!
୨ৎ Pairing: Hayato Suo x Reader feat. Shishitoren (literally most of them), Jo Togame, Choji Tomiyama, Mitsuki Kiryu, Haruka Sakura, Akihiko Nire
୨ৎ Warnings: mdni, f!reader, manga spoilers, ooc (definitely ooc sorry ah), angst, harassment, swearing, kissing, miscommunication – if I’ve missed one, I apologize + please let me know!
୨ৎ Note: oh my goodness – I'm actually so sorry for how this took me (and how long this is ૮꒰◞ ˕ ◟ ྀི꒱ა). I loved loved loved this idea so much, and thank you for the sweetest words! I really hope this is somewhere in the ballpark of what you were requesting! Thank you again for the amazing idea! I love you!
You hadn’t meant to cross over to their territory – truly. It’s just that Togame had mentioned that his favorite Ramune flavor had been out since last night, and Tomiyama had been going on and on about this new snack that just wasn’t available at the usual corner store that you guys frequented, so you found yourself with a mission on your mind and your wallet in your hand.
Pretty, perfect, caring adorable you. With a smile that could heal any scratch and a heart that seemed to never run empty. You were the pride and joy of Shishitoren – their mascot in every sense.
You knew everyone by name. If someone asked, you could name at least 5 things about each person from the top of your head. You could name their allergies, their likes and dislikes, and even their interests – all because you listened to them.
You were attentive and warm – quick to lend an ear if someone was having a bad day or offer advice if they asked.
And it was scary how well you could tell if they were in the dumps – it becomes a running joke that you have some kind of emotional superpower when it comes to them. It takes just one look, one look before you’re bringing them to a secluded corner and asking them if they’ve got something weighing on their minds.
You knew their personalities, knew their stories, knew their hearts.
The only time anyone avoided you was when they knew they did something wrong – because they knew you’d be pulling them by the ear and scolding them. And, as much as some of them wanted to get mad, they just couldn’t bring themselves to – because having someone care for them so fiercely was a feeling that not many of them had ever experienced, and from the bottom of your heart you truly cared.
After every fight, they knew you’d be the one to patch them up. Bofurin had the townspeople, sure, but Shishitoren had you. You, who would set up tables in the Ori with every inch of space taken up by ointments, antiseptic spray, gauze – the works. Whatever injury they had, as long as not severe, was taken care of by you.
If it was serious and required hospital attention, you were the one bringing them there – eyes sharp and tongue at the ready to yell at anyone who dared to treat them differently or deny services.
And these boys … they had the utmost respect for you. You, who had nothing but love to give, never expected a single thing back. You cared for them, genuinely, and saw them as your own brothers to fuss over and worry about and love.
You were family – and honestly, Togame and Tomiyama were just glad to have met you after their fight with Bofurin.
You’d moved to this side of town just a little after the whole thing, and when you’d gotten lost in the dark alleys with your phone on 1% and tears in your eyes, it was Tomiyama who walked you home. He’d talked your ear off the whole way, of course, but he was surprised at how you were able to keep up with him. You were actively responding to him, asking questions, keeping the conversation going – and Tomiyama liked that.
And when you’re delivered safely to your front door, you ask if you can exchange contact info. His eyes light up, and he’s quickly saying yes and that he’d love to hang out with you again.
He doesn’t expect you to reach out to him the next day though, asking if you can give him a thank-you present for going out of his way the day before.
And when you show up to the Ori, with a bag of assorted goodies in your hands, you’re met with more men than you could count, all with eyes staring wide at you.
They expect you to run away, honestly, because they know what they look like. They know that you’re probably a sweet girl, sure, but they were a gang – plain and simple. A gang working on reform, sure, but a gang nonetheless. So, if you were to drop your little goodie bag in fear and run for your life, well, it would probably be the most appropriate response.
Instead, what you do is gasp, point an accusatory finger at Tomiyama, and exclaim, “WHY didn’t you tell me that there would be more people here?”
You quickly hand him the bag, muttering out an “I’ll be back”, and in less than 30 minutes you’ve got your hands full with 5 more bags, packed to the brim with even more snacks.
With Togame, it takes just a little bit longer for him to warm up to you. Not that he doesn’t already like you – it’s just that he’s, well, a bit more reserved and a bit more quiet and observing (a lot more quiet if we’re comparing him to Tomiyama).
It’s when, during a fleeting conversation, he mentions that he plays Go with the elderly men at the public bath – and he watches you perk up at his words. Immediately, you’re asking if it would be alright to play with him sometime, and while he’s hesitant, he ultimately says yes at the sight of your bright eyes and wide smile.
He admits that he thinks you’re just bluffing, until you actually plan a day to play, and now you’ve got him thinking that maybe you’re good? Maybe, you’re a secret Go prodigy or something? Maybe you’ve got a secret or two up your sleeve and –
He wipes the floor with you. Absolutely demolishes you. But you’re happy about it, laughing at the result, and he’s confused because you didn’t win? Did you … did you know how board games work?
You’re quick to tell him that you enjoyed it because you got to spend time with him, got to know who he is as a person because of how he played.
You leave him standing on the street, a bottle of Ramune long forgotten in his hand (his prize for winning) and his mouth open in surprise.
And when you notice he’s not next to you anymore, you turn around with a smile on your face as you ask, “Don’t you feel that you know me a little bit better too?”
Yeah, they were glad that you got to see them as they were now, with hopes and dreams and emotions. They don’t dwell on the idea of you meeting them before then – they don’t want to. Because if they thought about it too long, they’d have their answer.
You deserved to be happy and healthy and protected. You, who filled a hole in Shishitoren that they didn’t even know existed.
And now you were an irreplaceable part of their lives, so precious and so important that they began to understand Bofurin. They had you – someone that they would do anything in their power to protect – to keep safe from harm.
You were Shishitoren’s Princess.
After that, Tomiyama and Togame were stuck to you like glue. Always thinking about you, always concerned, always wondering where you were.
You’re running late and they haven’t got a text letting them know why? They’re out on the streets, danger flashing in their eyes and prepared for the worst. However, when they see that you’ve been distracted by a stray cat on the road, all they do is let out a laugh and join your side.
They hear you sniffling and see that your eyes are shining with tears? They’re immediately on you, asking who did this to you, with a promise to make them pay for it tenfold. “You can’t really beat up allergies,” you laugh, before sneezing into a tissue. Immediately, the Shishitoren boys are rounded up, their eyes focused and determined – to get you allergy medicine.
You were everything good in the world, bottled up into someone who could make even the rainiest days seem a bit more brighter and the hardest challenges a bit more bearable – and they didn’t want anyone infringing on their happiness.
So when Hayato Suo, from Bofurin, comes across you one fateful day – they’re absolutely livid.
And honestly, you loved them, you did, but the way that they treated you like a delicate little flower sometimes felt a bit too stuffy.
What? Did they think you just patched people up for fun? That you knew how to medically treat someone just short of a nurse because it was your hobby?
You’re too absorbed in your thoughts to realize where the directions on your phone are taking you until you’ve already passed the train crossing border that connects Bofurin’s and Shishitoren’s territory. You’re spit out onto a street that you’ve never seen before, but you shrug it off.
When you find the corner store, you make quick work of your shopping list, even grabbing some items for yourself, before you’re out the door.
It’s when you’ve barely taken a few steps down the street that you feel it – the staring on the back of your head.
While you were in the store, you’d felt their eyes on you, but you’d ignored it, hoping that it was just a fleeting moment of curiosity. Now, you see that it was the eyes of a predator stalking their prey.
You pause, before quickly taking out your phone and sending a quick text to Togame and Tomiyama – they just need one small clue and they can fill in the rest – so you send your location.
And when you finally turn to face your stalker, you snap a photo of their face. For insurance, you assure yourself. Just in case.
He’s taller than you, with a smirk on his face and his hands in his pockets. You feel uneasy at his presence, and you look up and down the street to see that no one’s around.
Damnit damnit damnit.
“You’re really pretty, totally my type. Could I get your contact information?” he’s asking, but the tone that he’s saying it in doesn’t leave any room for objection.
“No,” you reply, simple and straight to the point. Then, you stay standing there, and you wait.
“Never turn your back on an enemy.”
Togame had said this briefly, once, while the both of you were watching everyone spar.
When the man takes a step forward, you take one back, maintaining the distance between you and him.
“Oh come on – it’s just your number. Don’t make this such a big deal.”
He’s holding himself back and you can see it. You can see the way his hands are twitching by his sides now and the way his breathing is starting to speed up.
“Always keep an eye on your opponent~! You wouldn’t wanna miss anything!”
Tomiyama’s words run through your mind next, and you will yourself to maintain your facade.
You’re starting to get just the slightest bit worried now, though. It really shouldn’t be too much longer, you think. Any minute now.
But a minute passes by, Togame and Choji aren’t here, and the guy’s got his hand wrapped around your wrist so tightly that it’s starting to throb.
“Please – leave me alone!” you yell out, but it’s going through one ear and out the other. He’s smiling down, dark and sinister, and it’s then that you remember something so crucial that you can’t believe you forgot it.
“Kick them, um, down there. It’ll hurt, a lot. But that’s a last resort type of move, alright princess?”
Those self-defense lessons are paying off, Togame.
You make a mental note to thank him when he gets here.
You kick the man, hard, and when he releases your arm you step back as fast as you can, but –
The plastic bag you had once held in your hand, now filled with the sloshing liquid and the broken glass of Togame’s Ramune bottle, causes you to slip.
Your hands shoot out and you close your eyes in anticipation of the fall that never comes because strong, warm arms are holding you up.
You let out a sigh of relief – finally. You’re brought to stand, but before those hands can leave your body, you’re swiftly grabbing them to wrap around your waist and leaning your head on their chest.
“Geez, took you guys long enough –”
The sight of a black jacket cuts you off. Black, with green embroidery.
You quickly push yourself off, eyes wide and cheeks red because you had just initiated a very intimate hug with someone who was a complete stranger.
“I-I’m so sorry! Oh my gosh – I thought you were someone else!” you blurt out, hands covering your mouth – and he looks as caught off guard as you are.
His eye is wide, mouth open just the tiniest bit, and – he’s cute.
“Wow, I don’t get thanked like that too often,” he smiles, and you’re mortified at his playful reaction.
“I –,” You open your mouth to apologize again, but he’s got a hand on your shoulder, quickly cutting you off.
You look up at him, and the smile’s still there, but it’s different now – it’s frightening.
“Would you mind stepping to the side for me? It seems some people just don’t know when to quit.”
You hear shuffling behind you, and you’re quickly brought back to the situation at hand. Nodding, you get out of his way, and it’s as soon as you step past him that you hear a sickening thud and a groan of pain.
When you turn, you’re relieved to see that the man who’d been harassing you is on the ground, and if you were to guess, probably out cold.
“Wow… You made quick work of him,” you don’t try to hide the awe in your voice and Suo finds it both endearing and concerning that you’re praising him.
Concerning mainly because, well, you don’t seem to be the type to leisurely enjoy street fights.
And now you’re right in front of him, inspecting his face and body to make sure there aren’t any cuts that need to be treated or any injuries that need tending.
It’s second nature at this point — ingrained in your body and soul.
Cute, he thinks, very cute that she thinks he touched me.
“Do you see anything wrong, love?” he jests, enjoying the way you’re so diligently scanning him from head to toe.
“No, I don’t think—”
You are, once again, mortified by his teasing. No one at Shishitoren spoke to you like this, and sure they called you Princess, but to you, it held the same value as sister or friend.
“S-sorry, force of habit… ah, thank you for saving me! I sent my friends a message but —”
You’re cut off by the sounds of two distinct voices yelling "Princess", and Suo’s quick to prepare himself for another fight.
However, when he sees Togame and Tomiyama run around the corner with panic in their eyes and desperation in their voices, he’s just confused.
And when they spot the two of you, with an unconscious body on the ground, it gets even more confusing. Because why are they walking over here and why do they have scowls on their face and —
“Princess, what were you thinking?”
Tomiyama and Togame are all over you, Togame’s hand gently grasping your chin to move your face from side to side, and Tomiyama’s got his hand on your wrist, softly thumbing at the bruised skin.
“I’m okay, I’m okay.”
Suo’s observing all of this, and he’s trying to rack his brain for any information about you. God, he really wished Nirei was here right now.
He’s never heard that name before or seen your face, so this must be a recent development. But with the way they’re fretting over you, you’d think that you’d all been childhood friends or something because the way that they’re worrying over you is definitely not normal.
You try to push their hands away from you, embarrassed that you have an audience, but they don’t let up so all you’re able to do is grumble and huff as they inspect you from head to toe.
“... He hurt you,” Tomiyama whispers, and you grab his wrist before he starts stalking toward the body on the floor.
“It’s okay um – oh, I don’t know your name, but he helped me out! Everything’s fine – really! Please, let’s calm down,” you plead, and all it takes is one look at your anxious face for the both of them to ease up.
Now, Suo really wants to understand.
“Suo … thanks for protecting her. This idiot didn’t tell us she was crossing over into your territory. It’s our fault, sorry,” Togame explains, one hand scratching the back of his neck and the other draped over your shoulders.
Suo takes a moment to respond. Who would he be, after all, if not an instigator?
Because — who were you? You – who could turn the Shishitoren leader and his second in command into mere puppies with your sweet voice. You — who had them running like their lives depended on it.
“Ah, I’d save a sweet girl like her any day,” Suo says, testing the waters, and he gets the exact reaction he was hoping for.
Togame and Tomiyama stiffen up beside you, as you gasp in surprise at his words.
And suddenly, there’s a shift in the air – and it’s deadly.
You sense it, of course, because who wouldn’t be able to feel the heightened electricity and the low hum of buzzing coming from Togame’s and Tomiyama’s chests?
And you, ever the de-escalating expert, quickly blurt out, “Ah, wait! I need to go back to the store! Give me like 5 minutes!”
Before they can get a “no” out, you’re already out of their grasp and beelining it for the convenience store.
It’s silent for a moment, with just Suo, Tomiyama, and Togame looking at one another.
Finally, Togame breaks the silence.
“Look, Sakura’s a friend –”
“And Ume-chan too!” Tomiyama chimes in.
“ – and I hope we’re not stepping on your toes here but don’t get any ideas.”
Suo knows he should stop. He should probably apologize, and let them know it’s not what they think. That they’ve got it all wrong. But … he really can’t help it – not with the way that they’re hissing at him like cats. It’s adorable – and you’re adorable.
He was never really good with holding back his tongue, anyway.
“I think she can make her own decisions, don’t you?”
Togame and Tomiyama do not take kindly to his words, and so it begins – a passive-aggressive verbal war.
“Ha, right. It’s been fun, eye-patch-kun, but we really oughta take her back home. You know, so that we can patch her up,” Togame says, and though there's a smile on his face, Suo understands the underlying message behind his words.
She got hurt in your territory, under your patrol.
Suo smiles back at him.
“Ah, sorry! I wasn’t quick enough to save her, but I’m glad I was able to sort this out before things got out of hand,” Suo replies.
All you guys do is blow things up out of proportion – with violence.
“If we’d been here, she wouldn’t have gotten hurt in the first place.”
“Hm. But you probably would’ve gone overboard.”
“Watch it –”
“Ah, sorry!”
It’s when Tomiyama finally opens his mouth that Suo realizes he’s been uncharacteristically quiet, and when they make eye contact, Suo’s smile deepens – because Tomiyama looked like he was ready to maul Suo into pieces, like a true Lion.
“Ume-chan and Furin are our friends,” he says, eyes darkening with every word, “but she’s our family – I think it’s best if you stand down.”
It’s at that moment that you come racing back towards them, your hands full of goodies and a grin on your face as you exclaim, “I got it! I got it!”
You hand Togame his Ramune, Tomiyama his snack, and … you hand Suo bottled tea.
“Sorry, um, I wasn’t too sure what you liked – but this is my favorite drink! Ah, um, if you don’t like it … Suo … I won’t be hurt. But you strike me as a tea lover so –”
You’re bouncing on the balls of your feet, hands wringing behind your back as you ramble and Suo can’t help the sweet smile and the small laugh that escapes his lips before thanking you.
And as soon as he’s done, you’re being whisked away back to your territory – back to your home.
As you walk through the passing, with Tomiyama’s arm intertwined with yours and Togame’s arm draped over your shoulders, you briefly turn around, just to catch one more glance of Suo.
He’s standing there, smiling as he raises his hand to wave at you. You smile back at him with a glossy look in your eyes before Togame softly flicks your forehead.
Your attention is on Togame now, pouty and dejected, before turning your head indignantly as you begin to lecture him about how you’re supposed to thank someone when they help you, and that it’s the nice thing to do.
In the heat of your lecture, you miss the way that Tomiyama and Togame also turn back to look at Suo.
In the darkness of the tunnel, Suo swears he can see their eyes glinting, and his smile only deepens.
Their eyes, daring and territorial, only say one thing.
Ours. Ours. Ours.
He had to admit, he wasn’t expecting this turn of events but he was intrigued now.
And, it’s only after the three of you disappear that he realizes he never learned your name – your real name.
So, when he volunteers to take over the patrol where the Furin territory ends and the Shishitoren territory starts, who can blame him?
What Suo doesn’t know, though, is that after this little incident, you’re permanently banned from walking alone ever again.
(Of course, you’re not actually banned. But, you are given a scolding afterward – which, in your eyes, is rich coming from Togame and Tomiyama, but sure, whatever.)
🫧𓇼𓏲*ੈ✩‧₊˚🎐
The next time Suo sees you, it’s when he least expects it.
You’re in Bofurin territory, with a small first-aid kit on your lap as you tend to the child in front of you. You’re smiling at the sniffling little boy as you wrap some gauze around his ankle, your fingers adept and swift, as if you’d done this countless times before.
“See? That wasn’t so bad, was it? You’re so strong!”
You ask him how it feels, and the little boy beams up at you, the tears in his eyes long gone and instead replaced with immense gratitude.
You smile down at him, playfully scolding him to be more careful as you pat his head softly.
And then Suo sees you hand him a lollipop — a lollipop — and it’s the cutest thing he’s ever seen.
So, really, can you blame him for sneaking up behind you and whispering into your ear?
“What brings you to Bofurin territory, princess?”
You yelp in surprise, before turning around so fast that Suo worries if you gave yourself whiplash.
Once your blush has gone down and the surprise of seeing him wears off, you explain that you’re here to get some bread for Tomiyama from the Cactus bakery.
He’d been saying that he wanted fresh bread, but there weren’t any in Shishitoren that you knew of. And as soon as he mentioned the Cactus’s Anpan over on Bofurin's side of the tunnel, well, who could blame you for taking that opportunity to not only do something for him but also for yourself?
Which, of course, was to hopefully run into Suo.
“He sent you all the way over here to pick up bread for him?”
“Hm? No, of course not. This is a surprise for him!”
“I see – I was wondering why you didn’t have your guard dogs around…”
“My guard dogs?”
“Oh!” you laugh and Suo thinks it’s the most pleasant sound he’s heard in his life.
“You mean Tomiyama and Togame? No, they don’t know I’m here. It wouldn’t really be a surprise if they knew, right?”
Suo’s starting to see it now – why they care for you so much. But he wants to know more, so he asks about the kid you were tending to.
“Ah — I saw him playing with some kids and he took a nasty fall. I didn’t think it was right to let him go home without care, so I patched him up. I hope that’s okay?”
Suo finds that he really likes talking to you. He likes how expressive you are, how kind you are, and how thoughtful you are. And he finally learns your name. He likes that about you too – it’s cute.
So, naturally, he offers to escort you to Cactus – purely just to keep an eye on you, he convinces himself.
And when he escorts you back to the border, all your goodies in one hand and his arm in the other, well –
He doesn’t care enough to find justification for his actions. He just really liked you – plain and simple.
When you let go of his arm, he’s already grieving the feeling of your body pressed to his side.
You were warm, soft, and he’s sure that if he ever got the chance to taste your lips, sweet.
“Let’s exchange contact information! That way, you can be my guard dog when I’m here,” you say as you pull out your phone, and Suo’s so so glad that he ran into you today.
When he adds your contact to his phone, he puts you down as Princess.
When you add his contact to yours, you put him down as Guard Dog.
🫧𓇼𓏲*ੈ✩‧₊˚🎐
After that, you and Suo try to meet up. But… well…
You don’t see the point in trying to hide it. You were, after all, your own person. You could think for yourself, make decisions for yourself, and speak up for yourself. You were so open to loving and the Shishitoren boys knew this – so why should you hide it?
And when you had something on your mind, you were determined to make it happen. So, you don’t see why it would be any different with Suo. You had met him twice now, and you wanted to keep seeing him. To keep talking to him. To maybe even date him.
But to Shishitoren, this was equivalent to losing you – and they could never let that happen.
So Shishitoren never lets you see him – and it’s not like they’re barricading you inside the Ori or blocking the entrance to the border (though, they’ll admit that the thoughts crossed their mind in one way or the other).
No. They do it in a way that they know will make you stay with them – by acting like big babies.
The first to fall was Arima –
You’re about to leave to meet up with Suo when Arima runs into the Ori, cries of pain leaving his lips as he whines at how much it hurts. You drop your bag immediately, texting Suo a panicked text about how something came up and that you’re sorry but you’ve gotta cancel today.
You have Arima sit down, all your supplies laid out next to you as you ask him what happened and –
It’s a paper cut.
But he’s babbling about how deep it is and how much it stings and it takes forever to just disinfect it and wrap a bandage around it before you realize that half the day’s just flew by for a minor injury.
Second was Kanuma – when he got a bad haircut.
Third was Sako – when he suddenly, out of nowhere, began asking you for advice about how you would approach someone who you used to look up to but lost respect for, who you vowed to fight and win against, only to lose against them and have them apologize to you (you, obviously, struggled with what advice you could even give him).
Fourth was Tomiyama – when he lost his favorite pair of sneakers.
Fifth was Togame – when he lost an eating challenge for the first time.
“It’s for the good of Shishitoren,” they say as they prepare the next victim.
Eventually, you find yourself tending to almost all of Shishitoren’s wounds, whether physical or emotional, and you just can’t believe that they’re fighting against you and Suo so hard.
But, in between all of that, you and Suo still manage to sneak in hushed phone calls and sweet texts.
Always asking about how the other’s doing, always talking about how your day went. He looks forward to it, he realizes, laying in bed as he hears you start to slur the ends of your words, drifting off into sleep.
And you send him photos all the time – it could be of a cat you came across while on the way to the Ori, or a drink that you tried that you liked – and with each text, with each phone call, Suo finds himself becoming smitten with you.
You, who would remind him to drink water and to at least eat something small to get through the day. You, who had perfect memory and would follow up with the things that he’d talked about days ago, just because you were interested and curious (he’d mentioned that there was a tea spot that he frequented in Makochi, and it only took a day or two later for you to bring it up again, this time with all sorts of questions and comments like “I looked at what they serve! Which one’s your favorite?” and “I’d love to go there with you sometime, Suo – if I ever get the chance”. He’d only said the name of this tea shop once, but you remembered).
And sweet, kind, loving you – who seemed to know whenever he had a particularly tough day. You were so attentive to him, which was surprising because all your interactions were never in person, but it seemed that you could understand his mood just based on the extra second it took for him to answer the phone or the way he responded to your text. And the thing was that Suo was great at masking his emotions – an expert, even. But you, who could just sense these things about other people, were giving him the chance to open up if he so chose to. You never pressed, never battered him for an answer. Just a simple – “I feel like there’s something on your mind, but if you don’t want to talk about it, that’s okay! Just know that if you ever need a shoulder to lean on, I’ll be there for you Suo.”
And, above all, you never stop trying. You never stop trying to escape the clutches of Shishitoren to see him – though you apologize every time your plans get thwarted as if you both weren’t expecting the same outcome.
But Suo doesn’t see you again, for months – not until a huge fight breaks out, and you’re honestly the last one he expects to see rushing onto the aftermath of the battlefield with a backpack filled to the brim with medical supplies and a determined look on your face.
They didn’t know Shishitoren was going to get involved and fight alongside them, didn’t know that the aftermath was going to be this bad. But if Suo had known that you’d be running to meet everyone afterwards, well –
🫧𓇼𓏲*ੈ✩‧₊˚🎐
He sees you a mile away, and he’s so relieved that you’re not hurt. That you’re up and moving. That you’re here. But he’s also surprised and caught off guard because – why were you here?
It’s then that he sees your bag, sees the way that you’ve got your hair up and out of your face, and the way that you’re scanning everyone up and down so fast that your eyes never stop moving.
My little nurse, Suo thinks, rushing to the injured like the sweet princess she is.
Little did you know that as he was fighting, there were only 3 things revolving through his mind – Bofurin, Makochi, and you. He fought to protect those 3 things that were so very dear to his heart, and to be greeted with the sight of you after winning? Well, it couldn’t be anything less but a sign of his hard work. A reward, if you will.
He sees you run up to Umemiya, serious and purposeful, as you open your mouth and wait for a response. Umemiya, though very confused, gives you an answer that you seem satisfied with because you nod, then thank him, and now you’re running towards Suo, and you make eye contact, and he can’t wait for you to dote after him and take care of him and –
You smile at him, scan his body, nod – and walk right past him. You never stopped for him, actually. You just kept moving. Just kept walking.
And Suo just watches – he watches as you make your way over to where Shishitoren is laid out, watches as they all let out a sigh of relief when they see you safe and unharmed, watches as they start talking animatedly to you as you start setting up for aid.
And you’re standing there with a pained look in your eyes as you nod at their words halfheartedly, more focused on the injuries that they’re sporting on their bodies than the words coming out of their mouths. You’re going from person to person as fast as you can, and although Suo can’t hear you, he can read your lips as you tell every single person – “I’m here now. It’s okay. Thank you for fighting. I’ll take care of you.”
He watches as you get to Tomiyama and Togame, and sees the way your eyes start to water as they pat your head and tell you that they’re fine – even though you have eyes, you can see how hard they’ve fought. Instead, they’re fondly thanking you for coming all this way just to take care of them.
And suddenly, everything got a bit too real for Suo. A bit too scary.
Because he didn’t realize how hard he’d fallen for you, in between those two fateful meetings, the constant late-night phone calls, and the never-ending texts.
It hits Suo like a train. He wanted to be the one that you search for in the crowd. He wanted to be the one that you’re fussing over. He wanted you to patch him up. He wanted you.
He was in love with you.
And he shuts down – completely.
He goes silent, uncharacteristically so, to the point that Sakura and Nirei are starting to get worried.
“What’s wrong, Suo-san?”
“Suo, what’s the matter with you?”
It goes through one ear and out the other – no response, no indication that he’s even present at the moment.
It’s when you’re patching up the last member of Shishitoren that you feel the heat of an eye on you – and your body reacts before your mind can.
Suo’s name is the only thing running through your mind as you finish up as fast as you can – and you’re off.
You’re making your way to where all of Bofurin is sitting, just barely slipping out of the grasps of the Shishitoren boys.
It’s Togame, with his long limbs, who reaches out and puts a hand on your shoulder and it’s Tomiyama, with his fast reflexes, who has your hand in his.
“Princess, no–”
“Let me find Suo.”
“But you don’t even –”
“Choji, Jo – let me go.”
They hesitate. You’d never spoken to them like this before. Never used their first names before. Never been so cold before.
But they weren’t fools. Even if you tried to hide it, they’d seen the way you sneaked off to talk to him or the way you thought you were hiding your phone when you were responding to him. Anytime they’d bring something up that had even an inkling to do with Suo, you were excitedly adding in your input – all while stumbling over your words as you tried to be mysterious.
(They’d done a test, actually. All they did was bring up the word tea and you were fighting for your life as you kept accidentally saying Suo’s name when talking about your friend.
“Ah, Su– AH, I mean, my friend really likes this type of tea.”
“Oh! That’s S– my friend's favorite place in Makochi!”
They didn’t have the heart to tell you because, well – you really sucked at lying.)
And they realize, with heavy hearts, that you were never theirs to lock up in the Ori. You were so kind, so lovable, so sweet, because that’s just who you are as a person.
You were protected, sure, and healthy, sure, but you weren’t happy.
You, who were the embodiment of everything that Shishitoren was working to protect, had made a choice and they weren’t respecting it the way that you respected them – and they were being, well, selfish.
And when they finally let you go, you sigh in relief. Making your way over to where Suo’s sitting, you yell out over your shoulder, with so much spite, so much anger, and so much love –
“You act like I’m never coming back – stop whining like puppies!”
Togame’s and Tomiyama’s eyes widen in shock before they both laugh lightly at your words in disbelief.
You really knew how to scold them.
“... she’s talking about you.”
“... nah, she’s definitely talking about you.”
🫧𓇼𓏲*ੈ✩‧₊˚🎐
When you made your way over to Suo, you were met with guarded and curious stares from all of Bofurin. Too focused and too determined, you brush it off. You knew about the fight that they had with Shishitoren, sure, but you thought that they had patched everything up? And Shishitoren had fought with them for this big battle, so why the curiosity?
If only you knew the real reason everyone was staring at you.
Instead, you find yourself running past all of them with Suo’s name falling from your lips, and when you see him, he doesn’t respond.
You pause, dejected, before repeating his name.
No response.
Now you’re worried – and scared.
You recognize Sakura and Nirei, based on how Suo had described them briefly, and you immediately begin asking them what happened.
“Sakura, Nirei – is Suo okay? Did he get hurt? Does he need first aid?”
You’re met with silence – and shock.
“H-huh? Do we know you?”
“U-umm – sorry, have we met before?”
You pause at their response, looking at them confused.
You blink once, then twice, then three times – before glancing at Suo.
Unresponsive and unperturbed.
You introduce yourself slowly, giving Sakura and Nirei the chance to remember you – because they must’ve heard your name at least once, right?
They hadn’t.
And now you’re standing there with hundreds of eyes on you, as you come to terms with the fact that maybe … maybe you’d been wrong this whole time.
You clear your throat before timidly asking a question that you fear you already know the answer to.
“Did he um… did he not tell you about me? Uh… about us?”
And suddenly – everything goes to shit.
Shishitoren rises up in arms, walking over to where you are because why did you look so confused and why was Suo ignoring their beloved princess –
All of Bofurin is staring at you with their mouths wide open, processing the words you’ve just said –
Sakura’s spluttering, desperately trying to form words as he continues to just point back and forth from you to Suo with shaky hands –
Nirei’s got his notebook in his hand, flipping through it like a madman because how could he miss something like this, and had Suo ever talked about you? –
Suo’s unresponsive, still –
And then, to top it all off, Kiryu gasps because he’s finally solved it. He’d seen a text on Suo’s phone, so brief and so quick, but he was sure that the person Suo was texting was –
“Oh! You’re the one he’s been texting! You’re Princess!”
At Kiryu’s words, you snap.
And no one, not even Togame and Tomiyama, had ever seen you this angry, this upset, this livid.
You weren’t expecting him to go around screaming your name all over Makochi, but what you did expect was at the very least maybe his friends to know. Was that so absurd? You never tried to hide your feelings for Suo from Shishitoren (They tried so hard to stop it) so why wasn’t it reciprocated? Did he not feel the same way? Had you looked too deep into his actions and created a fantasy in your mind? Did you not really know him as well as you thought?
Or worse – had he been toying with you?
Oh, you were pissed – and poor Suo didn’t have a clue.
You go to stand in front of him, eerily calm and sickeningly sweet as you call his name one more time.
“Hayato Suo.”
Now that – that brings him back to his senses. You watch him blink in succession as he grounds himself, before his eye darts to you, to Furin, to Shishitoren – and he quickly puts the pieces together before letting out a stiff laugh.
“Ah – I was hoping to introduce you properly to everyon–”
“Am I a joke to you, Hayato?”
Suo freezes at your words.
How could you, who had unknowingly wormed your way into his heavily guarded heart, be a joke?
But he realizes now – and he feels, for one of the few times in his life, stupid.
Because you love with your heart on your sleeve, and Suo loves with his heart tucked away.
And really, Suo should’ve known, because you’re you — you who gave Shishitoren something to protect and to hold close to their hearts, safe from danger and harm’s way.
You press on, fighting through the anger and the embarrassment and the fear you feel rising inside of you.
“Tell me Hayato, answer me. Was I? Hm? Did you have fun?”
“No, I –”
“Every call, every text – did that mean nothing to you? Was I just being delusional?”
“Wait I –”
You’re so close to him now, softly jabbing your finger into his chest as your words begin to get more and more shaky.
“Do you feel powerful, Hayato? Making a Shishitoren girl fall in love with you–”
You stop yourself, teary-eyed and vulnerable, and you feel so stupid. Because what hurts more than anything is giving someone all your love, all your time, all your energy – all for it to have been for nothing. You thought he felt the same, truly. But now? All you wanted was to walk away from all of this, walk away from Bofurin, and never ever look back.
He grabs your hand, desperately, as your words sink in. He wants to – no, needs to make sure that he’s not just hearing things. That he’s not just imagining it.
“You … love me?”
You pause, taking the chance to actually look at him. You see hope on his face, and you furrow your eyebrows in response.
“... is this another joke? Of course, I love you, you idiot. You would’ve been the first one I ran to but your leader said you guys were all patched up already so I –”
Everyone’s eyes turn to Umemiya, who shrivels under the attention and wordlessly mouths an “I didn’t know!”
But your eyes are only on Suo’s, and Suo’s is only on yours.
And Suo lets you see him, truly see him, for who he is. He doesn’t shy away from your stare, doesn't put on a mask, doesn’t push his feelings into the box that’s been his safe haven for so many years.
Your eyes flicker with uncertainty and fear, but you convince yourself to try one more time. Just one last time.
“Hayato Suo, I really do love you,” you whisper, so slowly, so hesitantly, so scared.
Then, with everyone’s eyes on the both of you, Suo slides one hand to the small of your back, and the other to cradle your face.
He wanted to learn how to love with his heart on his sleeve – just like you.
“… again.”
“… I lov—”
His lips cut you off, and honestly, you’re not even mad. Not when he’s pulling you flush to his body, his hand slipping to the back of your neck, and your fingers grasping at the collar of his jacket.
Black, with green embroidery.
“I love you, too – but I’m afraid there’s too many eyes here for me to show you how deeply I feel for you, Princess – I hope you’ll forgive me.”
Dazed, all you can manage is a soft nod and a flutter of your eyelashes before pulling his lips back to yours.
Suo smiles into the kiss. He was right, you were as sweet as he thought you’d be.

SHE GETS THE JOB DONE! • VI

🎵: The Giver by Chappell Roan
CONTENTS: modern au, afab reader, female reader, smut, pillow princess reader, stone top Vi, don’t interact if you don’t like that!
SUMMARY: headcanons about stone top Vi x pillow princess reader.
A/N: I wrote this for fun! It’s nothing serious! I’m not assuming anything about Vi! Keep that in mind and enjoy!
Stone top!Vi who honestly thought she’d never find the right partner. Everyone insisted they could “turn her” and it made her so angry. She didn’t want to be turned, she likes who she is!
Stone top!Vi who thought she had died and went to heaven when you showed up. You, a pillow princess, were absolutely perfect for her. You understand her boundaries, because you have your own. The dynamic is perfect!
Stone top!Vi who loves when you bite her during sex. She literally tells you to not bite near her tattoos so the marks are more visible. Whenever she looks in the mirror and sees hickeys all over her neck, she gets so excited. You’re the one who ends up wrecked sometimes, with constant reminders of her, like when she’s rough and you aren’t walking right for a day or two. So when she has a little reminder of you with the bites, it makes her happy.
Stone top!Vi does get rough…pretty often. There’s just something about being able to make love with you that gets her so riled up, and she just needs to get that energy out! She’s such a puppy.
Stone top!Vi who sometimes looks forward to the aftercare more than the actual sex. Depending on how mobile you are afterwards, she’ll run hot baths or showers, then wash your whole body carefully. If you’re not too weak, you do the same for her. She enjoys it, but she also respects when you don’t feel strong enough to do it. She’ll also just get a warm washcloth and clean you in bed so you don’t have to move. She’ll check you over for any injuries every time, even if she wasn’t really rough. She wants to make sure her baby is okay :(
Stone top!Vi who uses sex as stress relief. That’s where the roughness comes in most times. She’ll get home from work and (only if you’re up for it) drag you to the bedroom…you might not make it to the bedroom, actually.
Stone top!Vi who will do anything anywhere. Kitchen? Absolutely. Living room? One of her favorites. Bedroom? Obviously. Bathroom…? She’ll make it work. Car? Another favorite of hers, honestly. She is into anything you ask her to do. Any position, any toy, any location, she’s down for whatever, as long as it makes you happy.
Stone top!Vi who’s service to you go beyond sex. You kind of have her wrapped around your finger. She’s a giver in every way. She loves to make meals for you, buy you nice things every once in a while. The second you mention something hurting (head, back, stomach, etc) she’s all over you, giving you a massage and fetching anything you could possibly need or want.
Stone top!Vi who cries during sex sometimes. She genuinely feels honored that she gets to pleasure you. She’ll just hide her face in your neck and keep doing her thing.
Stone top!Vi who feels absolutely terrible if she hurts you in any way. Maybe she bit you a little too hard, thrusted a little too fast. She feels so guilty. She’ll say “I have one job during sex and I can’t even do it right!” and sometimes it honestly makes you laugh, then she feels better.
Stone top!Vi who gets more needy than you. She’ll be begging to fuck. Girl will literally get down on her knees, which always leads to exactly what she wants.
Stone top!Vi is the master of praise. She just always knows what to say. When it needs to be dirty, she’ll be gross. When it needs to be sweet, she’s nuzzling into you and telling you how good you are, how proud you’re making her.
Stone top!Vi who also loves to be praised. If you ever were to joke about giving her stickers after sex, she’d take you seriously. She just loves when you’re feeling really good and telling her that she’s the one doing it. It makes her dizzy, honestly.
Stone top!Vi who sends you nudes. All the time. Sometimes multiple days in a row. It might just be her abs. But most of the time it’s a lot more :) she likes to keep you on edge and wanting her. It is her job to fulfill your needs sooo…she fulfills them but keeps them existent.
Stone top!Vi has a breeding kink. Argue with the wall.
Stone top!Vi just loves you so much, she’ll do literally anything for you, and that means providing, and providing sometimes means pleasuring :)

Little less hidden - Kika Nazareth
Summary: Little moments, quiet glances, and blurry Instagram stories—snippets of how Y/N and Kika slowly, accidentally, and tenderly became public.
Word count: 1.3k
This is part of my 1k comemoration blurb! <3
Masterlist
..
- The Media's Reaction:
To the media, nothing about Y/n and Kika's relationship stood out. The press loved to talk about how close the two were, but it was always framed in a strictly professional context.
Y/n was just so serious.
Whenever her relationship with Kika came up, she'd don her usual professional mask, her expression stiff, her tone even more so.
“The team is doing everything it can to support Kika during this time,” she would say, her face a perfect picture of composure.
No one suspected anything more was going on.
To them, Y/n was the definition of professional. A player who didn’t smile for the cameras, who had no time for distractions.
She’d support Kika like she supported her teammates: with commitment, discipline, and a focus on performance.
But what the media didn’t see? The way Y/n carefully wrapped ice around Kika’s leg after a tough physio session or how she always made sure Kika had someone to sit with during a game, since she wasn’t allow to play yet.
- The Fans' Reaction:
The fans, on the other hand, had a completely different story.
They noticed everything.
The tiniest shift in Y/n’s demeanor, a hint of a smile when Kika came near, a moment of laughter they hadn’t heard before.
And they were quick to catch on.
Y/n, who never showed emotion, was suddenly showing a softer side around Kika. Fans knew there had to be something more going on.
It all started when Y/n would show up to training a little earlier than usual.
Not for the drills, but for the hope that she would catch Kika trying to sneak a breakfast that was nothing short of chaotic. She knew it was bad for Kika, but it was endearing all the same.
And then there were the gym sessions–where Y/n would complain endlessly about the songs Kika loved, pretending she hated them, but carefully logging every song title on her Spotify.
Then came the pitch.
When Kika wasn’t playing due to her injury, Y/n gave her all—not just for the win, but to somehow carry Kika’s presence on the field, feeling like she was playing for her.
The first moment it became undeniable?
When Y/n hugged Kika after winning the Champions League semi-final. Kika, tears in her eyes, her face buried in Y/n's shoulder, her smile pure and radiant.
And Y/n? She couldn’t help but smile too.
It was all over Twitter.
Fans flooded the comments with “What’s going on?” “Are they together?” and “Look at the way they look at each other!”
- The Quiet Realization:
After that moment, things only seemed to get more complicated for Y/n.
She couldn’t deny it anymore. She could feel it–the shift in their relationship.
What had started as support for a teammate, a friend, was turning into something more, something deeper.
She didn't know exactly when it happened, but she was starting to fall for Kika.
Y/n’s default instinct was to compartmentalize, to suppress her feelings, but with every glance shared with Kika, it became harder.
She kept it under wraps, of course–until one day, she couldn’t.
- Kika’s Bold Move:
Kika, on the other hand, wasn’t as cautious.
She wanted to share their love with the world, to let it be known. But she understood Y/n’s hesitation.
So, she respected the boundaries. No holding hands in public. No public displays of affection. Their relationship was strictly professional in the eyes of the world.
Still, Kika couldn’t help but want to share a cheeky post–a playful picture of the two of them.
But Y/n wasn’t having it. She wasn’t ready to go public, not yet. “It’s too soon,” she said. “We’re not there yet.”
And so, Kika kept quiet.
But their quiet little moments were telling in their own way. Kika would sneak her hand into the frame of a picture Y/n was taking, and Y/n would subtly hide Kika’s presence in her own minimalist shots.
- The Breakthrough:
Until one day, everything changed.
Kika and Y/n were lying together in the hotel room, tired but content. They had just come back from a grueling match.
Kika had her phone in hand, Y/n next to her. They took a mirror selfie, faces barely visible–Y/n’s face hidden behind the phone and Kika’s barely visible in the reflection. It wasn’t much, just a quiet moment captured.
Y/n didn’t think twice. She posted it on her Instagram stories. No words. No emojis. No hearts. Just the photo.
It was a subtle admission. The fans went wild.
They knew what it meant, even if the rest of the world didn’t. It was a quiet declaration of their relationship, but it was a declaration nonetheless.
- What Comes Next
The media may not have known the full truth, but the fans?
They had seen enough to know that something was up.
And though Kika and Y/n hadn’t officially told the world, they knew they were in it together. And in time, the rest of the world would catch up.
- Reactions
The morning after Y/n’s post, she woke up to chaos.
Her phone buzzed nonstop. Mentions, tags, screenshots, blurry zoom-ins, fan theories. The story had already expired from her Instagram, but that didn’t stop fans from dissecting every pixel.
They would zoomed in to confirm the mole on Y/n’s wrist, matched the bedsheets to a photo Kika had once posted, and compiled it into a 3-minute TikTok essay titled “Y/n and Kika: Soft Launch Confirmed.”
Kika’s response? A smug little grin across the breakfast table as she scrolled through the discourse, occasionally reading fan tweets aloud just to watch Y/n roll her eyes.
“‘They are the softest soft launch in Woso history,’” Kika quoted, eyes dancing. “Oh wait, here’s another: ‘This is how I want to be loved–quietly, gently, in the corner of an Instagram story.’” She giggled. “Poetic, no?”
Y/n groaned, hiding her face in her hoodie. “I didn’t even tag you.”
“Didn’t need to. You posted us. That’s louder than any tag.”
The team noticed the shift too, of course.
For the first time, their teasing turned to quiet respect. Alexia, ever the observant captain, gave Y/n a look across the locker room–half proud, half knowing.
“You good?” she asked quietly one day.
Y/n didn’t say anything at first, just nodded. But her shoulders were more relaxed. Her face a little less guarded.
She was starting to let herself have this.
Kika, for all her patience, was now daring a little more.
Her hand would linger on Y/n’s back as they walked through the tunnel.
They would sit closer during team meetings. There were still no overt declarations, no big PDA, but the change was there, undeniable and steady.
Fans continued to speculate, but the tone had changed. They weren’t just shipping anymore, they were rooting for them.
And eventually, when the next season rolled in and Barça’s official photographer posted a candid of Y/n with her hand in Kika’s—unposed, natural, unmistakably theirs–it didn’t come as a surprise.
No captions were needed. No official statement. It was just them, as they always had been, now just a little less hidden.
They didn’t rush anything. Slowly and naturally, they let the world see more.
A blurry selfie in Kika’s story, with a barely visible smile pressed against her cheek.
Y/n in the background of a TikTok, wearing Kika’s hoodie.
A post-match hug that lingered a second longer than usual, and this time, Y/n didn’t look around first to check who was watching.
By the time they soft-launched again—this time with a post from Kika, a photo of them holding hands around Barcelona, it didn’t feel like news. It just felt like the world catching up to something that had been quietly blooming all along.
Y/n still wasn’t one for grand gestures, but she didn't flinch when fans recognized them at cafés, or when someone asked for a picture and Kika took her hand before posing.
She had Kika. And that, quietly, loudly, publicly or privately, was more than enough.
..
a/n: Hope you guys liked it <3

an assassin and his healer
nagumo yoichi x doctor!reader
── ⟢
+ having graduated with an assassination-medical major, a very small sub-department in the JCC where only the skilled in human science are found, you're technically a licensed doctor for any regular citizen who wants a simple check-up. you have a job in the clinic near sakamoto's store during the day, but during your assassination hours, you deal with injuries ranging from critical to a scratch. you took four years of apprenticeship under granny miya, so you tend to follow her ideology of 'the patient can be healed as long as they're not dead'.
+ your graduation was a special case. the JCC considered scrapping your department due to the lack of applications, but you excelled in combining the assets of poisons and weapons, making equipment like a portable bandaid or even discovering the smallest of pressure points that could enhance someone's strength, which floored their views. after witnessing a presentation of your projects, they decided to keep it up and running just to see what you were capable of, and thank god they did, otherwise, you would've had nowhere to go.
+ you met the famous trio during their prime when you were all 16, and you were fully aware of the fact that if they had no interest in someone, it would be drastically clear. you thought this was the case for you too since no one really appreciated your work because it wasn't 'strong' like the assassination majors, but when you received a personal congrats from them, it took you by surprse.
+ hell, when you saw them enter your lab without a word, you quirked your brows, pausing from pulling the trigger of your flamethrower. upon request from your weapons department friends, you were in the middle of melting a large batch of energy-fuelling pills. you slowly put the flamethrower down on your desk. "if i knew i was having such esteemed guests, i would've cleaned the place up a bit. to what do i owe the pleasure?"
+ but before they could answer, the three of them were hovering over your pile of books, empty beakers and box of surgical equipment. rion plucked a grey glass bottle from your top shelf, which you reserved for your most expensive creations, before popping the lid off.
+ she sniffed the top of it and gave a "hm!" of approval before taking a swig. "wow, this is actually pretty good," rion said, smacking her lips together and offering some to sakamoto, who only took the bottle from her hands, "what's this one for? my stomach feels like it's doing backflips."
+ you folded your arms. "that's because it's for serious internal bleeding. you're only really meant to take it when, you know, you're only puking an alarming amount of blood." rion nodded in acknowledgement and dangled the empty bottle with a grin. "ah, gotcha. no internal bleeding for me now!"
+ "mmm, i prefer this flavour." your eyes flit over to nagumo yoichi, the insufferable student that had all the girls swooning in seconds, swiping four potions from your shelf and stuffing them in his pocket. "i'll come back again to try more!"
+ "wait, you just came here to take my stuff?" you asked, stopping the three in their tracks. sure, it's . . . fine that they stole your things without permission, but your lab was usually off-limits for those who didn't belong in your department. well, now that you think about it, when did these three ever follow rules?
+ rion waved her hand. "we'd love to talk, babes, but we gotta dash. will use these potions well, though!"
+ and nagumo added with a more enthusiastic wave, "keep a separate shelf just for me!"
+ and they left, leaving you to finish your work of delivering pills to the weapons department. they were a funny bunch, you always thought as you sometimes passed by them in the hallway. rion would always strike a conversation whenever you bumped into each other. she was always so sweet to you. sakamoto occasionally asked how your projects were going since it was a season of missions being carried out more often than ever, so you were ever-so-busy with surgeries. nagumo had the biggest grin on his face as he bombarded you with requests like a strawberry and lemon flavoured potion for his fatigue. they were strange but fun all the same.
+ since then, they made a common appearance, sometimes it was just rion who wanted to have a chat. you got along well, getting to know her likes and dislikes, laughing along when she verbally tore sakamoto and nagumo apart like they were shreds of paper. other times, it was nagumo alone and when it was just him, it was like a spitfire of insults after insults.
+ when nagumo is fiddling with one of your brain-relaxing equipments that you made just a week ago, he realises that you're a lot quieter when it's just him, when rion and sakamoto aren't present. "hm? why is it when akao and sakamoto are here, you have so much to say, but you're silent when it's me?" and honestly, it felt like a big slap to the face because wow, it was true.
+ ". . . shut up," you said, earning a chuckle from him. "the whole building will be able to hear you yapping."
+ today, a few years after their first intrusion in your lab, nagumo is taller and different at the age of 19. he wasn't more mature per se, but he definitely carried a more confident wittier aura that you didn't recognise from before. you, at 19 were renowned for your fantastic creations. one of your best moments was when you received a commission from an order member albeit a small one. your efforts were so well-recognised that applications for your department were growing much to your pleasure. rion congratulated you a lot, sakamoto actually used your creations and nagumo had never broken his streak of making sure to visit you almost everyday.
+ and you don't know when you started to feel this way, but whenever nagumo entered the room, time seemed to go painfully slower as though he was staying in your lab for longer than you thought. your equations for perfecting brain damage potions seemed harder than normal and you just couldn't seem to find that one blueprint that was always in its same place. even nagumo went, "it's this one, no? it was right under your hands" much to your embarrassment. your brain was scattered whenever he was near you and you really hated it.
+ and what was worse is that he noticed all this and was enjoying it.
+ "is my (name) . . . a little distracted?"
+ yes, yes. infuriatingly so, you think as you watch nagumo bounce over to where you stand in the far corner of your lab. he has that mischevious grin, the one that you want to melt off his annoyingly-handsome face. did it never occur to him that you couldn't work at your best whenever his talkative ass was in the room? is he really that stupid that you have to say, "nagumo, i need to do my work," then deal with those big eyes of his begging to stay? if he was a little less insufferable, maybe you would've─
+ you freeze. wait, he said 'my?'
+ and nagumo, his face creased with laughter, sees the cogs whir in your brain as you finally realise that he really just indirectly labelled you as his.
+ "don't tell me you've been ignoring me for that long."
+ and much to your dismay, it hits you that yeah, he's always been there. "wow! my (name) seems to like today's lunch! i don't see you here that often!" he once commented when you sat with him at the cafeteria. "the food's not always so great, but today seems ok."
+ or the other time when you had a first-year student schedule an appointment with you because he wanted advice for his weapons. nagumo saw him waiting outside your lab. "hmm, my (name) is a bit busy today! why don't you come back later?" he said while he was opening the door to waltz in, "ah! my (name) i've come to bother you!" he sang before slamming the door. you didn't manage to see the poor kid because nagumo took up your entire evening.
+ and you really did find yourself making a separate cabinet just for nagumo. even to this day, at the ripe age of 27, you made soothing creams for burns, motion sickness pills and gums for him to chew on for whenever osaragi would drive. his placement as an order member made him busier but never enough to keep him away from you. whenever you're at the clinic for your day-job, nagumo made frequent appearances. he'd lean on the front desk and request for his usual "lovely, lovely and beautifully perfected doctor," even when you're literally standing there, typing away at the computer. "yoichi, you're really doing this on my shift." it would never stop him. "i am your shift!"
+ he's surprisingly romantic for someone with little dating history. he's had a few girlfriends in the past but because of his occupation, they obviously don't last long. with you though? though not a fully-fledged assassin yourself, you're part of that world, his world, so you understand the burden and pressure that comes with it. just like nagumo is tasked with completing his missions with no mistakes, you're equally expected to never fail a surgery, always finish on time and come up with new ideas. it's a cycle where you both have each other backs.
+ like, as much as he jokes, he's very proud of your achievements. as an order member himself, he'd probably commission you a lot and if anyone needs surgical assistance or high-tech weapons, he'd be quick to mention your name. of course, he hesitates just a little because he doesn't want to share, but for the better of your work, he puts your name out there.
+ he doesn't get heavily injured because he's scarily skilled. his 'gold assassin's license' that he boasts about keeps him protected, but just to rile you up, he'd limp in through your clinic or house, crying for the kiss of the doctor that he's come to adore. if you're at the clinic, you need to appear more professional because you have people you see everyday watching you care for this grown ass man wailing his guts out. if you're at home, you're much more relaxed and honestly, so's nagumo as he leans into your delicate touch.
+ generally, he's so proud and whipped about the fact that you're a doctor and are so capable of doing what you do. he has extensive knowledge on poisons, so he tries to add his recommendations from time to time and he's grateful whenever you take it. on the rare case that you don't, he acts hurt, "oh . . . my (name) doesn't like my idea," and he'd jokingly mope until you kiss his ego better. anything can solve this man's problems if you silence him with a kiss.
+ sakamoto's like ". . . please tell me you did not get with nagumo," and nagumo finds this hilarious. he's like, "i have an idea! let's go on double dates with you, me, aoi and (name)!" to which sakamoto rejects. he doesn't mind the idea of you being friends with his wife, of course, but he doesn't want to take nagumo anywhere.
+ sometimes, he'd disguise himself as you and nonchalantly act as if he's doing chores in your house until you come back home. so when he sees you, he points and goes, "an imposter!" and at this point, you play along, "there's my doppelganger. can you give me back my boyfriend, please." and as soon as you say that, he transforms back and grabs you.
+ life with this mf is a wild ride, but honestly, you signed up for it, so good luck. once his eyes are set on someone, he goes all in and is not about to give it up. especially when he knows how serious you are about him and he is for you. a match made in heaven!

"Did you join the fucking military?"
Jason asked Tim, who blinked blankly at Jason until he noticed what he was holding. Jason was holding your military tags, which Tim's selfishly kept to himself when you "lost" them. Technically, he stole the tags from you, but you can always get a new set. You'll be matching! He did feel a little bad that you got in trouble with leadership when you asked for new ones, but he's sure you'd be fine without the old pair.
"No."
Tim didn't elaborate further. The tags have practically lived on him since he stole them. He only ever takes them off for showers, which is how Jason found them. Jason scoffed,
"Good. You'd be a shit soldier. Why do you have military dog tags?"
Tim tried to take them back, but Jason held them above his head. Your dog tags are air jailed until he gets answers. Jason needed to know.
"Answer or I'll find a place to smelt them down."
Tim knew he was serious by the gleam in Jason's eyes, so he said,
"My girlfriend is in a special forces unit for the marines. She refuses to tell me which unit she's in, but I've narrowed it down."
Jason was too stunned to notice that he dropped your dog tags. Tim snatched them off the floor and put them safely around his neck again and tucked under his shirt where they belonged. He likes to say that you're closer to his heart with your tags under his shirt with the bonus of protecting him from any potential bullets. Even when you are gone, you promise that you will always come back. He's used to your deployment and the limbo you have him in.
"When do I get to meet her?"
Dick said from the doorway. He was passing by and overheard. His little Timmy has a girlfriend? When did that happen?
Tim touches the tags while thinking of what to reveal and what to keep private. He's never been good at respecting privacy, but he has been learning for you. He knows to keep anything you say to him a secret, but what about other things relating to you?
"Whenever she wants. I'm not her keeper."
Tim answered vaguely. He's flying to see you soon, and he doesn't want to be followed. You've been together for three years, but you met kind of awkwardly. You tackled him to the ground and wrestled with him after mistaking him for one of your friends.
Your willpower eventually overcame his reflexes, and he stopped struggling. You had laughed when you pinned him down and ruffled his hair in victory. It was embarrassing to him how quickly he submitted to you. He watched your eyes widen when you noticed he's not your friend. You took in the scene too slowly. You, straddling who you had assumed was your friend with your hands pinning his wrists to both sides of his head, and Tim blushing underneath you. Tim didn't know how to react either, so you both stared at each other before you started awkwardly apologising.
Tim was a mess, but he was an adorable mess. His hair was ruffled, and his clothes were wrinkled, but there were no bruises nor any scrapes. You were always careful to leave no injuries. He was breathless, just staring at you with wide eyes and a shyness that almost made you smile. He was so cute that you wanted to squish him.
You quickly got off of him once you realised how long you've been staring at him. You pulled him up from the ground when he didn't make a move to stand by himself and actually almost fell right back to the ground because his legs refused to work for him. He was understandly stunned.
This is awkward. How do you explain the tradition of you fighting your friend on sight? Your friend does the exact same thing with you. It was excellent training for your deployment to fight each other on sight without any prep. Enemy soldiers aren't going to reveal themselves before attacking, so surprise attacks help keep your reflexes sharp.
"Sorry. I thought you were someone else."
He couldn't get the image of you pinning him down out of his head. Nobody has ever pinned him down so intimately. You were gentle. Your hold would have been easy to break out of if he didn't stop struggling. It was like you only played until one of you got pinned, and then the fight was over.
Tim was still trying to remember how to function. What does he do? What does he say? He's all shaken up. He had to look away from you. He managed to say,
"It's fine."
He tried to sound like it was no big deal, but it sounded strained. He was pretending like the wrestling really took it out of him by fake panting, but you both knew better. You narrowed your eyes suspiciously, but pat his back and attempted to leave.
Attempted, being the key word. Tim caught your wrist loosely and nervously said,
"I, uh... would you... Can we... Let's... I'm sorry."
He didn't have the words with you looking at him like that. He was nervous. You smiled softly at him, and he forgot how to speak entirely. He could only stare until you took the initiative and asked him to go on a date before you leave for boot camp. He nodded, and that was that. You gave him your number and continued your run like nothing happened.
The date went amazing. It was a bit unconventional as you took him to a paint gun fight after showing him the gun and explaining the rules. You grinned every time he landed a hit and even wiped away the paint that splattered onto him with a fond expression. You opened up about the fear you have about joining the military, but your desire to help. You want to make a difference, however small or large that may be.
You kissed the bruising wounds softly and banaged the bleeding ones before he could even reach for the first aid kit you brought. You helped him up with a wild grin, and he kissed you until the adrenaline ran out. The guns were empty, and you both were messes, but your hearts were full, and Tim can safely say he hates paintballing. You took him to see a movie like a normal person next date.
Jason and Dick watched their brother soften further and further as he went down memory lane. Dick was ecstatic and already plotting to meet you, but Jason was confused why anybody would date Tim. Yeah, he's had his fair share of partners, but he's surprised every time he gets a date, let alone a girlfriend.
You were his mystery girl, and their family loves a good mystery.

My Hero : ̗̀➛ Charles LeClerc
summary: when your heel breaks, you don’t quite know what to, luckily for you, charles is there to save the day

It was typical. Just your luck.
You were used to going to busy events, glamming yourself up and making sure that you looked the part by Charles’ side. Every time you had the same pair of shoes that you trusted to wear that kept you safe and left you without any injury. You loved how comfortable they were, when everything else around you was so frantic, it was a huge relief knowing that you could get from A to B without worrying about falling over or having to hold onto Charles to stop yourself from losing your balance.
However, as you headed to the restaurant you were meeting some colleagues at, your trusty shoes broke all of that. As you went up the kerb the heel got stuck, and as you tried to untangle it, you could hear the crack. Luckily for you, no one was around to see you troubled, but that didn’t stop you from silently cursing under your breath how you were going to get through the rest of the evening.
Thankfully for you, your colleagues were just as organised as you, with one of your closest friends carrying a spare pair of shoes in her bag which managed to fit your feet in. With that, you tried to enjoy your evening, but it wasn’t quite that easy. Behind your smile you couldn’t help but worry, it would take forever for you to find a pair of shoes that would be as comfortable as these, to find a pair you could wear to one of Charles’ formal events without living in fear that you’d end up embarrassing yourself.
Whilst you sat feeling sorry for yourself, your phone buzzed beside you. You quickly picked it up, feeling your smile turn up as you read a familiar name on your screen. It was if he knew that you needed just a little sign to try and brighten up your evening a little bit. You grabbed your phone, unlocking it so that you could read through the message that Charles had sent you properly.
Charles: hope you’re having a good time love 🥰
Despite the fact he was enduring the busiest time of his year, in the middle of preparing for yet another race weekend, he still thought of you. It was never a text to tick a box, it was always a text because he genuinely cared and was wanting to make sure you were enjoying yourself. Charles was the one who pushed for you to go out that night, knowing that it would be a great opportunity for you to bond with some of your colleagues.
You tended to know where Charles’ line of questioning came from, once he started, it didn’t take long before he desperately asked you how long it would be until you were home and back with him.
You: aside from breaking my heel, it’s pretty fun!
You barely had time to breathe before your phone buzzed.
Charles: damn, you’re not serious right?
You: afraid so 💔
The feeling of someone looking over your shoulder is enough for you to put your phone away again. You shared quite a bit with your colleagues, but your phone conversations with Charles were not one of those. Your attention turned back to what was happening at the table, midway through a conversation you weren’t quite sure what was going on, opting to nod along and hope for the best.
What started off as fun, began to bore you pretty quickly. Your eyes started to dart off in all directions to try and keep entertained, looking around the restaurant until they landed on something you were not quite expecting. A familiar figure is stood in the entranceway to the restaurant, eyes scanning around the room.
Charles looked messy, his clothes weren’t straight, his hair was like a bird’s nest and he still had his glasses on from whatever he was doing at home. You could tell he had moved quickly to get to the restaurant and find you. As he continued to search for you, you decided to put him out of his misery, excusing yourself from the table, dancing through the tables until you were stood directly in front of him.
“What are you doing here?” You whispered across to him, not wanting to cause a scene. “I’m supposed to be having dinner.”
You’d never seen Charles look so relieved as he studied you closely, checking you over. He was silent for a moment, which left you feeling worried, taking a tight hold of his hand and leading him out onto the cold street so that no one was able to see the two of you.
“Charles?” You questioned again, poking gently against his chest. It was your turn to look closer at Charles, he had beads of sweat dripping down his face, his hands were clammy, surprising considering the chill in the air. “Are you planning on talking to me at some point?” You pushed beginning to get concerned as to why he looked so erratic in front of you.
“You’re okay.”
Your brows knitted together in confusion, “of course I’m okay.”
Charles didn’t take your word for an answer and still checked you over one last time. “I thought that you’d hurt yourself, I thought I’d have to take you to the hospital.”
Your head shook in disbelief, “why would I need you to do that for me? Perhaps, do you need to go?”
If it wasn’t for the streetlight next to Charles you were concerned that he would end up passing out. He was barely able to catch his breath, sweat still dripped down him leaving you perplexed.
“What did you do? Run here?”
You were expecting Charles to immediately tell you no, but instead there was a bit of a pause, leaving you wondering if perhaps your assumption was correct.
“I didn’t run here,” he eventually responded, “but I moved a little quicker than I usually do when I think the person I love is in trouble.”
“In trouble?” You frowned, glancing down at the new pair of shoes that you wore.
“I told you I was on my way,” Charles informed you, “you said that you broke your heel, I was expecting to see you on the floor or something.”
The penny finally dropped, pressing your hand to your head. “You thought I meant my actual heel?”
“Oh…” Charles stuttered as you reached into your bag and took out the broken one that you carried. Charles’ smile dropped as he realised his mistake.
Your laughter grew louder as Charles’ cheeks turned darker
He reached out for your hand and pulled you into his body, squeezing you tightly with relief that you were alright. Only when he’s convinced that he’s got the wrong end of the stick can Charles finally let himself laugh about what’s happened, finding himself able to catch his breath and steady the beat of his heart again. You were alright, and that was all that mattered to him.
As funny as the situation was, it was yet another reminder for you as to how much Charles cared about you. He had never felt a fear like it thinking that you had broken your heel, no other thought entered his mind other than the one to get to you as quickly as he possibly could. The only thing he wanted to do was get to you as quickly as possible, terrified that you would end up going through something so horrible alone.
“I can’t believe you sometimes,” you teased, throwing your head back to be able to look at Charles.
“How was I supposed to know it was your damn shoe?” He huffed, smiling innocently back at you, “you gave me such a fright.”
Your head shook as Charles kissed gently against your lips. “You really are my hero sometimes, aren’t you?”
Charles hummed in agreement with you, “you know I always want to save the day for you.”
Again you wanted to snigger at him, but he was just too caring for you. “Are you heading back home? Shall I come with you?”
“Stay. Enjoy your dinner, I’ll be at home waiting for you,” Charles instructed, “but don’t stay too long, it’s lonely being home alone.”
“Try not to break a bone or anything on the way!” You called out as Charles waved goodbye to you, heading down the road.
“Shut up!” He shouted back, earning a few glances from some of the other people around you. You poked your tongue out as Charles as you headed back into the restaurant.
˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*
Once you were back at home, you threw yourself down on the sofa and opened up your phone, finding the messages that Charles had left you after you put your phone away.
Charles: I’m coming, don’t move sweetheart
Charles: I’m so sorry this happened
And then came another, sent just after you’d said goodbye to Charles again.
Charles: I’ll always be your hero ❤️

Part 2
Masterlist
“Y/n L/n. 107th.”
She nodded smiling at her friend who had also been given the same unit. All the nurses - professional and volunteers alike were waiting for their names to be called to hear what unit they would be stationed with.
Then she was given the news that she was going to be the matron. And at twenty four years old that was a massive accomplishment, herself and her parents were beyond proud.
“Hey doc” she couldn’t help but roll her eyes at hearing the familiar voice that she began hearing everyday. “I’m injured doll, need your help to patch me back up”
Looking up for the clipboard she carried around she saw the Sergeant who had captured all the attention from all the nurses. Though he never paid any mind to them, just her.
James Buchanan Barnes.
“Firstly I’m not a doctor, just a nurse and secondly this is your seventh time coming here this week”
“Firstly you should be a doctor, better than the one we’ve got and secondly I keep getting hurt”
“Bucky… it’s only Wednesday.”
“You love me. Aren’t you going to ask me what my very serious injury is?”
“I don’t love you. Okay, what seems to be the problem Sergeant?”
“Y-you don’t love me? I’m going to cry myself to sleep tonight thanks to you!”
“What’s your injury Sergeant?”
“My heart” he places his hand on his chest and looks up at her sympathetically. “My heart hurts doll”
“James… you do realise that your heart is on the left side not the right…”
Moving his hand to the left side “Oh… are you sure?”
“Yes I’m sure” chuckling at his facial expression, he winks causing her to laugh.
“The truth is that I just wanted to see you, I like you even though you’re being mean to me” he pouts and bats his eyelashes as he kicked his legs back and forth.
“How am I being mean to you?” She asks whilst counting stock, trying her hardest to ignore the intense gaze of his ocean blue eyes on her back.
“Because you won’t let me take you dancing”
“You should go with one of the other nurses James”
“I don’t want any of the other nurses, just you”
“You-“
“Y/n! Y/n quick we need you!” Mary’s panic scream interrupted her. Jumping up and rushing out of the tent with Bucky right behind her, a group of men carrying a stretcher with a man lying on it. His right leg gone as well as his left arm.
“Get him in here” Bucky opens the flaps of the tent, his eyes trained on the young soldier as they passed him. “Help me transfer him on to the bed, carefully.”
Bucky watched on as Y/n took control, ordering the nurses around and trying to get the soldiers to move away so she could work. When one of the men wouldn’t move Bucky stepped in.
It wasn’t long before Y/n made everyone get out except for the nurses.
“Go” Bucky’s head snapped from the medical tent to Dum Dum sitting next to him, giving the man a questioning look, Dum Dum laughed. “The doc”
“Don’t know what you’re talking about” he mumbled before downing the rest of his drink.
“You’ve been turning down women all night and I’m honestly surprised that you haven’t burnt a hole into the tent with how intense you’ve been looking at it. Oh and let’s not forget that you’ve been obsessed from the second you laid eyes on her”
“I-no I haven’t.”
“You have, and don’t bother trying to argue with me. Go and talk to her”
“And say what?”
“That’s on you” Bucky contemplated on whether or not to take his friend’s advice, it didn’t take too long before he was getting up and heading over to the medical tent. “Shes in her own tent” he heard from behind him so he changed course.
Standing outside the small tent he fixed his hair before pushing the flap aside, he found her sitting hunched over the small table one hand in her hair and the other scribbling away as she filled in paperwork.
“I can feel your eyes on me” her whispered voice snapped him out of his head.
“Are you alright doll?”
“I’m fine don’t worry, go and enjoy your night”
Moving closer to her he saw the tears falling freely down her cheeks. “Hey, hey why are you crying doll?”
“He… he didn’t make it. I tried everything bu-but it wasn’t enough, he was only seventeen Bucky.”
“Oh doll. You did everything you could-“
“But it wasn’t enough! And within the week his parents are going to know I failed, I failed to save their son”
Bucky pulled her into his arms, holding her close to his chest ignoring the feeling of her tears wetting his shirt. “It’s not your fault” he whispered over and over again as she fell apart in his arms.
“I failed”
“No you didn’t! Nobody would have been able to have saved him Y/n and you know that.”
“He was only seventeen Bucky. A child!”
“I know sweetheart, I know.”
As the laughing and music continued outside Bucky kept Y/n close to his chest, rocking them both from side to side slowly. Sleep began to overtake them, being the gentleman that he was he turned his back on her waiting for her to change into her nightwear.
“Goodnight doll”
“Stay… please”
“Of course” he was slightly shocked by seeing her shifting over in the small cot then patting the space she had created.
Climbing in next to her, wrapping her up and pulling her into his chest. Pressing his lips to her forehead “goodnight my love”
It became an unspoken routine between the two of them that Bucky would sleep in her bed, they ignored the teasing from all those around them - as if the nurses weren’t warming the soldiers beds themselves. There was nothing sexual about what they were doing, it was just two lost souls finding themselves seeking shelter within one another.
That however changed one night when Bucky went into their now shared tent finding her once again hunched over the table. “Hi doll”
“Hi Sergeant”
“Me and the guys move out tomorrow”
“I heard. How are you feeling?” She asked looking up from the papers in front of her.
“Nervous I won’t lie, but I’m going to miss you”
“I’m going to miss you too but you shouldn’t be gone long, right?”
“Two weeks, three at the most” he shrugged. “Doll, come and dance with me”
“There’s no music…”
“So? Come on” he held his hand out for her to take, his heart fluttering with the look she gave him as she puts her hand in his. “You are so pretty” he whispers as they swayed together.
“‘M not.”
“Yes you are. From the second I laid eyes on you I thought you were the most prettiest dame I had ever laid eyes on.”
“You’re lying!” She chuckled.
“I am not!”
“If you say so”
Bucky gently raises her head up by her chin, “I have never lied to you.”
“Bucky… kiss me please” she asked softly. Their lips met slowly at first before growing heatedly and passionately.
The next morning with only a thick blanket covering their naked bodies they basked in the silence of the camp, Bucky running his fingers through her hair and Y/n drawing invisible circles on his chest.
“When this war comes to an end me and you are going to get married” Bucky declared as he broke the silence.
“Don’t I get a say in this?”
“Nope” he chuckled. “Why, don’t you want to marry me?”
“And put up with you for the rest of my life?”
“Yeah, why what’s wrong with that?”
“You’re annoying”.
“And?” He drawls with a cheeky grin on his face.
“I’ll probably smoother you in your sleep?”
“And? Doll you aren’t giving me a good reason for why we shouldn’t get married”
“You honestly want to marry me?”
“More than anything, and I promise I’ll be an amazing husband and we’ll have so much fun together an-“
“Yes”
“-d we’ll make so many memories-“
“Yes”
“-and we’ll grow old toge-wait… yes?”
“Yes Bucky, I’ll marry you when the war is ov-“ her words get cut off from him pressing his lips to hers.
“I can’t wait to annoy you for the rest of our lives together”
Later that morning, before Dum Dum led his unit out of the camp heading to only where they knew they were going Bucky ran over to Y/n giving her a kiss and promised her that he would come back to her.
Since the only people left there was the nurses, injured men and some of the officials the camp was excruciatingly quiet. And since it was only just them… well the camp had become very boring.
Two weeks passed quicker than she thought, waiting to hear the loud chatter from the men to fill in the silence yet it never came. Another week went by and again there was no sight of them. Y/n was helping Private Smith sit up in more of a comfortable position when Mary came rushing in, slightly out of breath.
“Th-they’ve been captured!”
“What? How do you know?”
“Word just come in, I overheard it but apparently Captain America is going to rescue them because he knows someone in the unit”
“I-okay. Okay erm… we’ll need to get things set up for when they come back just incase they are hurt” Y/n rambled off, unaware that she was squeezing Smiths hand - not like he minded.
“He’ll be fine darling” Smith squeezed her hand back.
“I-I know. You need to eat-“
“I will don’t worry but you need to eat too darling as well”
Sitting down next to him they enjoyed a nice meal together, Smith doing everything to help get her mind off of Bucky and the others by talking to her about his life before the war, his wife and children, telling her all the plans he had planned when he got home. It worked. Until it was time to go to bed, being alone with her thoughts made her mind come up with all kinds of scenarios and most of them weren’t good.
It was another two weeks before word got to them that they were coming back. Captain America had saved them.
Y/n was in the medical tent filling out paperwork when applause erupted in the air as Captain America approached with the 107th behind him, hearing the cheers she jumped up and began getting things ready, as the first person was brought in her sole attention was on the solider and not the other one she had been worrying about in the five weeks since she had seen him.
“Hey! Let’s hear it for Captain America!” She smiled at hearing his voice as she concentrated on the patient in front of her.
“He’s already asked about you” Ann says as she put pressure on the solider’s wound.
“Ah, your the famous doc that he wouldn’t shut up talking about”
“Excuse me?”
“Barnes? Yeah he wouldn’t stop talking about you, if you ask me he’s in love with you” the guy winked.
It wasn’t until everything in the medical tent had calmed down that she had heard his voice again. “I’m injured doll”
Spinning around she sees him standing there with a grin on his dirt covered face. “Who are you?”
“Your future husband, silly. Missed you doll”
“I missed you too” hearing her words he crossed over to where she stood and placed his hands on her face, cupping her face before placing his lips against hers. Both sighing in content at the feeling they had both been missing for weeks.
“Are you hurt? Where?”
“‘M not hurt my love, just messing with you”
“Are you not going to introduce me Buck?” A new voice cut through making them take a step apart from each other.
“Y/n this is Steve, Steve this is my doll” Y/n smiled at the blond who happily returned the expression.
“It’s nice to meet the woman who this one wouldn’t stop talking about”
“I didn’t talk about her once” Bucky rushed out. “I didn’t doll” shaking his head whilst looking at her.
“He’s actually not the first person to tell me that” Y/n winked at Steve making the man laugh.
“I hate the both of you.”
A celebration was held that night when they came back, the men sharing the tale of how they were captured - all teasing each other when they said they weren’t scared. Telling the women how Captain America had told them to leave but they refused, Dum Dum said that they arrived together and were going to be leaving together. Everyone including Y/n hanging on to every word that was spoken of their rescue and how they defeated the enemy.
Bucky never spoke a word, no, he was too lost in watching the flames of the fire-pit flickering off Y/n’s face. Mesmerised by the way her eyes shined so brightly in the darkness, audibly groaning as he watched her bite her lip - his mind going straight to the gutters.
Much later that night Bucky took his time in making love to her.
The 107th Infantry Regiment had been teamed up with Steve to take down an organisation, Bucky promised her that he would contact her whenever they set up camp for the night. Every night they spoke even if it was just for a few minutes, he told her where they were and asked how everything back at camp was going, before ending their call he would tell her that he was coming back to her.
The last time she spoke to him he informed her that they were in Austria, he made her giggle when he complained that they had to go up the alps, telling her how cold it was. He then shocked her by telling her that he was in love with her. Before she could even respond the connection cut off.
She knew there was something wrong when she never received another call from him, Mary and Ann told her that he was just busy and that he would come back and everything was going to be fine. Every time she tried to speak with the General about the update of where they were he just walked away from her.
For two months she didn’t hear anything from him or from anyone, for two months she spent her time trying to take her mind off of the brunette who had wormed himself into her heart.
Mary came running over to the river where Y/n was sitting watching as the ducks swam past her. “Y/n… they’re back.”
Jumping up and running to where the men were, she looked around for the man who she had been missing more than anything, her eyes moved frantically from man to man who all seemed to have a problem with making eye contact with her. Her heart settled when a hand rested itself on her shoulder.
“Darlin’ I-I need to talk to you” it was Dum Dum.
“W-where is he? Dum…”
“Come with me love” he wrapped his arm around her shoulder and moved them to her tent. “I’m sorry darling, he… he didn’t make it”
“W-where is he though?”
“He fell off the train in the alps, we couldn’t find his body”
“No… no we need to fi-find him so his family can bury him… Dum please” his heart ached for the woman in front of him, all he could do was hold her in his arms as she broke down crying. He didn’t have the heart to tell her that Bucky’s last words to Steve was him begging the blond to make sure he looked after Y/n.
After crying for a good solid ten minutes she removed herself from his arms, wiped her tears before nodding and walking out - leaving Dum Dum standing there dumbfounded.
She knew herself that she wasn’t going to be able to be aloud time away to mourn, they weren’t dating or married, while they had feelings for each other and they spent every waking moment together it didn’t mean anything to the higher ups. Walking into the medical tent everyone went quiet at seeing her, Mary tried telling her that she could go and rest but Y/n just shook her head and got to work. She needed the distraction to take her mind away from the pain in her chest.
For months after she became a shell of herself, no longer laughing or smiling, no longer holding conversations with anyone, always working and taking little care for herself. And finally that day came when the war ended, everyone around her celebrated whilst she was packing up her things ready to head back home.
It had been two years since the war ended and people were still picking up their lives. Y/n was on her way to home after finishing her shift at the local hospital when a black car pulled up alongside her.
“Excuse me Miss, are you Y/n L/n?” A man asked as he got out of the car.
“I am, who are you?”
“Ah, we have a friend in common”
“We do? Wait what are you do-“
“Don’t make this harder than it has to be Miss L/n, wouldn’t want to hurt you.” Her eyes were wide as his hand tightened around her neck, her whole body trembling with fear. “Nighty night” he smirks as he presses a needle into her left arm.
Y/n woke up disoriented and dazed with her hands and ankles tied painfully tight, trying to speak but her words came out as slurred. “Ah little lambs awake. Go back to sleep little lamb” the same guy from side of the road spoke, but instead of a needle being pushed into her arm he raised his leg and kicked her straight in the face. Knocking her out instantly.
The second time she awoke was when a bucket of stale water was thrown into her face, both arms tied to arms of the chair she was uncomfortably sat in. A man infront of her smiled as she was trying to blink away the water droplets off her eyelashes.
“So you’re the precious little one that our Soldat keeps muttering about, no matter how many times we wipe his memories he always mutters your name”
“I-I don’t know who you are talking about”
“Soldat! You know him” the unnamed man shouts as if it was the most obvious thing. “Get her ready. Miss… I won’t lie to you, what’s going to happen next is going to hurt… well have fun” the man sighs dramatically and then chuckles making his way to the door, leaving her alone with four men holding guns.
Everything that happened next happened in a blur from two of the men grabbing her roughly and dragging her down the corridor, to being strapped down on a cold metal table - a meek looking man muttering something to her that she couldn’t quite understand before a large needle was injected into her arm.
When she woke the next time she was in a small room - on the floor, that only had a chipped white framed bed with a thin mattress on top of it, she grimaced at seeing the blotches of stains. Her nose crunched upward at the nasty aroma lingering the room. Y/n flinched at hearing noises just outside, she could hear clearly that a man was laughing which caused her to back away and put her hands over her ears trying desperately to block out the sound. Not understanding why everything was amplified.
“Ah, little lamb you’re awake. I’m pleased to tell you that it’s worked, your going to be our new little asset-“
“W-what have you done to me?”
“We’ve made you stronger than any man could wish to be! We’ve made you fast-“
“What have you done!”
“Right, we’ve injected you with a special serum that’s enhanced you. Your lucky little lamb, those before you never made it past the thirty minute mark after injection. Now you’re ready for your second phase of becoming our little asset, boys… be careful with her.” The second he finished his sentence the same four men from before came in and grabbed her roughly once again.
Being dragged down a corridor and into a room she tried to beg the men to let her go, pleading with them that she had a family and they’d be looking for her, she even tried bribing them. Her begs and cries fell on deaf ears.
“Now little lamb, from what I can gather is that this chair here, a beauty in her own right isn’t actually nice to those that sit in her. She’s not exactly been kind to your little boyfriend but that’s because he tries to fight it, I’m going to be kind to you and suggest that you don’t do the same as him otherwise it will hurt more.” He waved his hand in the air lazily and the two agents that had ahold of her shoved her towards the chair, once sat they strapped her legs down and placed a strap across her chest.
“P-please stop ple-“
“None of that little lamb, it’s not going to hurt… much” he chuckles. “Try not to scream, it’ll will only annoy me”
She goes to reply when a loud buzzing sound came from both sides to her, frozen and strapped into place as two metal plates places themselves onto her face. Y/n could hear the man in a white coat start to count down from five, squeezing her eyes shut tightly she saw a blinding white light as her whole body spasmed and withered in pain. The agents all flinched as the glass behind them started to crack. Once it finished and the plates were moved away from her head, her head started to roll to the side as drool began seeping from her mouth.
“Little lamb, do you remember me?”
“W-w-where am I?” Her mouth felt like it was full of cotton wool, and her tongue felt heavy.
“What’s your name?”
“Y-Y/n”
“Do it again”
By the eighth time of having her mind wiped the window was gone, she had blood seeping from her ears and nose, her bottom half was wet. After they were done with her she was dragged back to her cell and tossed on the ground as if she was nothing.
Y/n had forgotten everything. She didn’t know who she was or where she was. They kept calling her little lamb. Crawling into the corner of the room she pulled her knees up to her chest and began mumbling incoherently to herself.
Every time she closed her eyes all she saw was a blacked out face with the brightest blue eyes.
For years she moved and breathed when they told her too, she spoke when they said, she ate when they told her to eat - not like it was much mind you.
Throughout those years she didn’t understand her purpose of why she was there, she never got to leave the place she was kept at, all she did was train and fight with those who were a lot bigger then her in height and weight.
What she didn’t realise is that she did have a purpose for those she worked for, and that she was leaving the base to do their bidding. Completely unaware that she had taken so many lives.
She didn’t know what they were injecting into her every few months was the sperm belonging to the Winter Soldier in hopes that they could create an army of pure bred super soldiers that they could use to fight and take down their enemies without themselves having to do anything. Or that the nurse who seemed to take pity on her would give her a tablet to force the innocent little foetus to never grow up in a world that it would only be used for pain and suffering.
She didn’t understand what she had done wrong, one minute she was training with the other super soldiers and then she was being hit and shocked by the batons and then dragged to the room that kept the cryostasis chambers, she pleaded with the agents that she would be good, begging them not to put her in there again but they didn’t listen. Her whole body stiffened when they gave her the option - chamber or chair.
She hated the chamber.
But she hated the chair even more.
“See you in a little while little lamb.”
Fury had told them that SHIELD had discovered a new Hydra base and that they needed to go and take it down, not even an hour later they were fifteen minutes away from touching down at the location of the base.
“Cap, it looks deserted…” Natasha said as she slid her gun into her holster.
“We still need to be cautious” Steve told them. He tapped his foot against Bucky’s to gain his attention. “You okay?”
“Don’t worry about me. Seriously punk I’m fine”
“Alright. Everyone be careful.”
They moved quietly and slowly towards the base - that had seen better days - without any trouble, getting inside they all stole quick glances at Bucky making him sigh. “No I’ve never been here before”
“Didn’t say anything Barnes”
“You didn’t need too”
As they moved further inside it became obvious that they were the only ones there, apart from a few rats running around. Steve gave the orders out, him and Wanda going together down one hallway, Bucky and Sam - which he did mainly to annoy his best friend, Natasha and Tony going off to find the computers to see if they can get anything off them.
“How long do you think this place has been empty for?” Wanda asked.
“Not sure… it looks like awhile.”
“Steve?”
“Yeah?”
“Why are they all open?” Wanda points at cryo chambers, looking at Steve with a raised eyebrow.
“I don’t know? But let’s keep looking there has to be something here for us to ta-“ Wanda cuts him off with a gasp. “What’s wrong?”
“There’s a woman, she’s pretty…”
“What are you- Y/n?” Wanda’s head snapped from the woman in the chamber to the blond standing next to her.
“Do-do you know her? Wait… Y/n?”
Pressing his comms button Steve tells Bucky to come to where he was, told him to hurry up, hearing the distress tone of their captain Nat and Tony also went along too.
“Steve is this the same Y/n that Bucky calls out for in his sleep?” Wanda asked, watching him nodding slowly she looked down sadly.
The team had slowly grown use to Bucky screaming and hearing him thrash around in his sleep and had even witnessed him trashing him room trying to escape, thinking and believing he was still at the Hydra base he was kept at. One night it had actually taken all of them to try and pin him down on the ground after a horrific nightmare, it took Thor to grab Mjölnir to place it on Bucky’s naked chest to pin him down and for Wanda to use her magic to clear his mind just so they could get him to calm down. She apologised profusely for it the next day but he just smiled, placed his hand on hers gently and thanked her. But every night without fail they all heard him mumbling or crying out for Y/n and none of them wanted to overstep that boundary by asking him directly so they asked Steve who this person was and all he told them was that it wasn’t his place to say anything but that she meant the world to Bucky. And after that they let it be though they were all curious.
And now Wanda was staring up at the woman who had been on her friends mind for so long, she didn’t know how Bucky was going to react to seeing her here.
“Steve?” Bucky stood at the doorway with Sam, Natasha and Tony behind him. “What’s up?”
“Buck… she-she’s here”
“Who?”
Steve watched as Bucky paled and his eyes got shinier with tears filling them. “Y/n.”
“N-no no you’re lying Steve.” His eyes moved to Wanda when he noticed her shifting from foot to foot. He knew by the look on her face that what Steve was saying wasn’t a lie.
He moved slowly to where Wanda stood, never taking his eyes off her until he stood in front of her, it wasn’t until she gave him a sad smile that he finally looked to his right. A choked sob was the only sound in the whole building. Wanda tried to grab him before he fell but it was no use, Bucky landed with a loud thud on his knees as he looked up at the woman he had fallen madly in love with in the forties. The woman he had made a promise too. A promise he couldn’t keep.
“St-Steve we need-I need to get her out of here”
“I know Buck, I know but we need to be careful, we don’t know how long she’s been in there for”
“We can’t leave her!”
“We aren’t going to leave her Barnes, just give me a few minutes to try and figure out how we’re going to get sleeping beauty out of here, okay?” Tony says before looking around the room to find a way to get her out.
As everyone moved around the room trying to find a way to get her out of the chamber Bucky stayed on his knees looking helplessly up at her. “That’s why you couldn’t find her, she’s been here”
“I tried Buck-“
“No, I know you did. H-how long do you think she’s been here for?”
“I… I don’t know”
Not long after, Tony managed to find a way to open up the door to the chamber without causing any damage to Y/n. They all shivered as the cold air hits them, Bucky took the straps off her and took her gently into his arms. His body tensed when Tony injected something into her arm. “It’s just to keep her asleep until we get back to the tower”.
Steve told him to take Y/n onto the jet so they could finish off clearing the base, they all watched as he carried her as if she was the most delicate thing in the world.
“Steve, she’s a super solider” Nat looked over at him from the computer.
“Have you found anything else about her?”
“She’s got way more kills under her belt than I do, they call her little lamb” saying that nickname made her nose scrunch up. “And… oh Steve, they’ve been injecting her with Bucky’s sperm, it never worked” Steve’s eyes burned a hole into the computer screen angry at everything that he was hearing.
“Sh-she was a nurse you know? A great one, all the men said they loved going to her because she was just the kindest of them all. She deserved so much better than this.”
“Steve she’s been in cryo for twelve years… they wrote down when they were put in and taken out, she was never taken out twelve years ago”
“Jesus. Right, gather everything you can on Y/n and I’ll meet you on the jet”
Leaving Natasha to do what she did best he went to the jet, he stood there watching as Bucky stroke his fingers through the top of her head, not taking his eyes off her face.
“I-I’ve put blankets on her from the back, she’s still freezing Stevie.”
“Buck, there’s something I need to tell you about her.”
“What is it?”
“She’s like us, she’s got the serum too. T-they were trying to impregnate her with-with your… you know, and Nat found out that she’s been in cryo for twelve years”
“T-they don’t care do they? They don’t care who they hurt or the pain they inflict, they-they’ve hurt the sweetest, big hearted person and for what? Just to leave her in there for all those years? It’s my fault isn’t it?”
“No Buck, it’s not your fault-“
“It has to be, I kept saying her name when they first got me. I didn’t want to forget her so I kept saying her name and look what happened!”
“Bucky it’s not- don’t try and interrupt me- it’s not your fault. But we’ve found her and she’s going to come home with us and we can help her”
“Did she do bad things too?” His voice was so small and quiet that it was lucky that Steve had enhanced hearing otherwise he wouldn’t have heard what his friend said.
“Yes but Buck we know her, we know she’s a good person just like you she’s been made to do bad but we can help her, I promise you”
“We’ll all defend her tin-man” Tony says, when both men look over they see the four of them nodding in agreement.
Two weeks after finding his only love and brining her back to the compound Bucky refused to move away from her hospital bed, on the fourth day Steve had to beg him to come with him to get some food - it wasn’t until his stomach growled in hunger that he finally accepted Steve’s offer, he left her with a kiss on her forehead and made Natasha and Wanda watch over her, made them both promise to ring him the second Y/n started to stir awake.
Steve then tried to get him to leave just so he could get a good night sleep or to have a shower but the brunette shrugged him off - it wasn’t until Dr Cho came in and told him to get a shower, told him that he should be clean and smell nice for when Y/n woke up. That had him running to his room and showering quickly before running back down to her.
It was better than nothing.
“Steve?”
“Mhm”
“What’s Fury going to do when Y/n wakes up?”
“Nothing, him and Tony have already pleaded her case and all she’s got to do when she wakes is give all the information she can remember. Fury is positive that she’ll be be fully pardoned and he thinks that she could be an asset to the team, that is if she wants to stay”
“W-why-do you think she’ll want to leave?”
“I don’t know Bucky”
“Would you be mad at me if I left with her?”
“No. I would be mad though if you didn’t invite me over for dinner” Bucky let out a laugh whilst he rubbed his thumb over her knuckles.
Steve and Wanda had left after spending a couple of hours keeping Bucky company as he watched over Y/n, he was just starting to drift off to sleep when he felt her hand twitch.
“Y/n? Doll?” Another twitch. “Doll, come on wake up”
Bucky shot straight up knocking the chair backwards when Y/n jumped up out of the bed, falling down instantly, he watched as she pulled herself to the wall bringing her knees to her chest, her eyes moving around the room frantically. Her voice hoarse as she mumbles softly to herself, Bucky slowly moved around the bed.
“Doll? Y/n it-its me Bucky”
“Bucky?”
“Yes, yes it’s me” she says his name again, her teared filled eyes looking straight at him. “You’re safe.”
“W-where are we?”
“Somewhere safe, I promise.”
“They will be here for me” slowly standing up, ignoring the blood seeping down her arm she moved over to Bucky. “I-I need to leave, I need to go back home, they-they’ll be mad at me”
“Y/n hey, hey stop, doll look at me, they aren’t looking for you okay? You’re safe here, I’m not letting anyone hurt you again. I promise”
“You promise?”
“I promise” Bucky moved closer as soon as she was in reach he pulled her in his chest, squeezing her tightly, repeatedly pressing his lips to her hair.
Helen came in a little later to run some checks, talking to Y/n like she was an actual person and not like she was a nobody like she was use to, when she said thank you it meant more than just a simple gesture. The next day Steve, Sam and Wanda walked into the hospital room shocked to seeing Y/n sitting up and talking to Bucky, though they had slowly gotten use to seeing Bucky coming out of his shell even after all these years of knowing him Sam and Wanda stood there watching Bucky be a whole new person, the only person that didn’t find it weird was Steve who had a huge smile on his face, happy to see his best friend finally happy and at peace now that he had Y/n with him.
When Fury got word that she was awake he came down to see her, she answered all of the questions he had as best as she could. Fury reassured both her and Bucky that nothing would happen to her.
A month after waking up Y/n hand in hand with Bucky sat in a room with the team standing behind them, Fury at the end of the table and members of the government in front of them. She was nervous to hear what punishment she was going to receive, yes Fury promised that she wouldn’t be but when Bucky finally caved and told her all of the crimes she was connected to - not only did her heart break at hearing the things that she did but she feared what kind of punishment she was going to receive, she felt like she needed to be.
“Y/n L/n you are granted a full pardon, but you will need to be a part of the Avengers-“
“That’s not what we agreed on!” Fury interrupted the man.
“It’s the best thing-“
“I’ll do it. I-I need to do it” Y/n nodded.
Bucky and Steve had to beg Tony not to throw a party to celebrate Y/n’s freedom and her new role in the team of superheroes, he reluctantly agreed but told them they needed to do something as a team for her. Bucky told him a nice meal would do, it wouldn’t push her out of the comfort zone she had created for herself, so that’s what they did. Their laughter throughout the meal bounced off the walls as Y/n was retelling her memories of the antics Bucky would get up to during camp, told them how she managed to push Steve in to the river when he refused to go into the water.
In that month Bucky had been sleeping in bed with Y/n after she begged him to stay with her, and that night was no different. The team no longer heard Bucky’s screams because he no longer had nightmares.
“Y/n”
“Yeah?”
“I never stopped loving you, you know?”
“I’ve never stopped loving you either.” She smiled up at him. Slowly their lips met, both sighing at the familiar feeling that they had been deprived of feeling for nearly eighty years.
Just as Bucky closed his eyes to get some sleep he began chuckling when he heard Y/n’s question.
“Are you still going to marry me so I can put up with you for the rest of my life?”
“I made a promise didn’t I?”

you make me wanna fall in love -jack hughes-

summary: y/n is done trying to fall in love. but life isn't giving up. and her biggest adversary? jack hughes.
word count: 1.4k
pairing: jack hughes x reader
notes:
"we're going to get married one day."
jack was 9 years old when he told y/n he was going to marry her. it had been after she stood up for him against a kid who was picking on him. he had known y/n his whole life, having grown up next to her. she had always been the quiet kid, never engaging in any conflict. so when she yelled at the 11 year old kid, jack fell in love.
but since he was 9, nobody took what he said seriously.
----------
he moved to new jersey when he was 18 and y/n moved to new york. they weren't in the same state but that didn't stop them from visiting each other whenever they could.
being away from her family was tough but just knowing jack wasn't across the country made y/n feel a little safer. their friendship was the most important thing to her.
and because he lived a good enough distance away from her, she was able to date freely in new york.
she dated at least 6 different guys throughout her 5 years in new york but none of them ever lasted. her quest to find true love was testing her patience and she hated it.
meaningful relationships were starting to mean nothing to her when all she had wanted her whole life was to find the one person she was meant to spend her future with. and how was she supposed to do that when every guy she went on a date with ended up hurting her in some way?
when each relationship failed, she turned to jack. he was her most trusted friend, after all.
he hated hearing about her dating life, but he hated it even more when she was upset. and it seemed he was the only one who remembered what he had said when he was 9.
"we're going to get married one day."
he had been repeating it in his mind more than once a week ever since the words left his mouth. sure people never took him seriously because he was 9, but he knew he loved her. in more ways than one. he just wanted his chance.
so when she called him to tell him about her most recent heartbreak, he took the opportunity to travel to new york to convince her she needed to be with him.
and it couldn't have come at a more perfect time, since his shoulder injury had taken him out for the rest of the season.
y/n was sitting on her couch, ready to completely give up on relationships. she hadn't heard the knock so when jack was suddenly standing on front of her, it caused her to jump.
"jesus, jack. how did you get in?"
"i used my emergency key." he took a seat next to her. "i came as soon as you ended our call. tried to get here as fast as i could."
"what about the team?"
"i'm out for the rest of the season. and i needed to see you. nothing could ever keep me from being here for you whenever you need me, you know that."
"i know. but there's gonna have to be a time when i have to turn to someone else. i know i can't keep relying on you every single time my relationship falls apart."
"yes you can, y/n. i swear. do not hesitate to call me when this happens. you know i love you enough to do what i can for you, no matter what." jack held her hand. "we made that promise when we were 12, remember?"
"yeah. i remember. but what about when you have your own girlfriend to take care of? she'll hate me for coming to you."
"if my girlfriend ever hates you, then she's not someone i want to be with. and i think it's important to remind you that i made a declaration to you when i was 9 years old. remember what i said?"
"you told me we were gonna get married one day." y/n smiled while avoiding his gaze. "but you were 9. you couldn't have meant it."
"i did, actually. the fact that i was only 9 is insignificant. i told you i was gonna marry you and i'm going to. there's not a doubt in my mind."
"jack."
"no. i'm serious. i have been in love with you since i was 9 and there's nothing you can say or do that is going to change my mind, y/n." he dropped her hand but held her gaze. "i know you're not ready for another relationship but i can wait. i've waited 14 years, y/n. i can wait a little longer."
and he waited. for 11 months. every day since that night on her couch, he waited but he also did everything he could to show her he meant what he said. he truly loved her and he definitely saw himself marrying her.
she fought hard against his efforts because if her history of bad relationships had taught her anything, it was that she wasn't meant to be in love.
but he got her.
it was the night the devils won the stanley cup. jack had been named the mvp of the playoffs and when he was given the conn smythe trophy, he knew he had to say something.
"you know, this is such an honor and obviously i wouldn't have been able to do it without these guys. but, aside from the team and my parents, there's another special person in my life who has pushed me to be the best i can be. she never lost faith in me, no matter how many times i got frustrated with the way i was playing the game. she stood by me through every injury and helped shape me into who i am today, on and off the ice. i've known her my whole life but i've loved her since i was 9. she'd my hero as much as i am hers. without her, i don't know where i'd be." jack looked at his team and smiled. "can't wait for next year."
after the big celebration on the ice, jack skated off with the team. he went into the locker room, celebrated with the team privately for a few minutes and then headed out. he was eager to get to y/n's apartment to talk to her. it still shocked him how he had somehow convinced her to relocate to new jersey, but he was happy it happened. it felt like he was one step closer to convincing her he had always meant what he said.
just as he was making his way to the parking garage, his phone went off. he pulled it out and answered it without looking at the screen. "hey."
"hey. congrats on the win. you were great out there. and no surprise that you won the conn smythe. you're always the mvp."
"you actually watched it?"
"of course. i wouldn't miss the biggest game of your career, jack." y/n giggled and it was like music to his ears.
"so you saw that speech?"
"i did indeed."
"okay well i'm just about to head to your place. we can talk when i get there."
"there's no need for that."
"y/n, please?"
"no. i meant," y/n sighed. "turn around, jack."
jack turned around and y/n was standing in front of him. he locked his phone and walked over to her. "you're actually here. i can't believe you actually came."
"i had to. most important game of your career, remember?" y/n smiled and wrapped her arms around him. jack didn't hesitate to return the hug. "and that speech was incredible. made me do some thinking."
"about what?"
"love and what it means. and what my future truly holds."
"and your conclusion?"
"i think the reason why all my relationships had failed before was because, unknowingly, my heart had already been given to someone else. someone who has protected it and showed it the love i know i deserve. love is crazy when you think about it. but i love you, jack. i'm finally ready to accept it." y/n looked up at him. "i'm sorry i made you wait so long."
"hey, you are 100% worth the wait. i'd wait forever for you if that's what was needed." he smiled widely.
"so, do you still want to marry me?"
"every second of every day if that was possible."
"how about just once, hmm? is that enough?"
"if it means forever, then yes. marrying you once is definitely enough for me."
"okay. let's do this then."
"right now?" jack's eyes widened.
"why wait? you love me and i love you. that's as good a reason as any, right?"
"okay. fair point." jack chuckled and held his hand out for her. "alright. let's do it."

Finally Getting Help (prt 6)
Masterpost
The Wayne family gathered in the family room once Alfred was done setting up the projector, somehow there was also a plate of cookies and a couple pots of tea on the coffee table. How he’d found the time they didn’t know, he always seemed to be doing just a little more than should be possible but they didn’t question it.
Jazz seemed nervous as she plugged in her USB and accessed the power point on Ghosts and Liminality. The tidal page had a picture of Danny in his Phantom form standing with a group of others, a boy with gray skin and blond hair, a girl with green hair and skin, and a goth with purple eyes and a dark skinned boy who looked around Danny’s age, and Jazz with the title “Ghosts and Liminals!”
The next slide had simple text: “What are they and How are they made?”
With each slide she read the text on the screen allowed and then added any context or anecdotes she thought of, or had prepared.
(Next slide)
Ghosts:
Made of ectoplasmic energy and obsession
Made either:
when someone dies with strong enough desires
An idea gains enough traction to take on a life of its own
Immutable concepts and gods
Must be allowed to indulge in obsessions or they will cease to exist
All have basic abilities such as flight, intangibility, invisibility, and minor shape shifting
On top of basic abilities most will have additional powers based on their obsessions
Immortal unless killed
Love to fight
Liminals
Made when a human is exposed to high levels of ectoplasm for prolonged periods of time
Have some ghostly traits
Ghostly traits vary person to person
Less susceptible to human illness and injury
“The ghosts on the picture are Kitty and Johnny, we’ve had problems with them but would consider them friends now. They’re the ghosts of two humans who died, but there are others, Vortext for instance is the ghost of Storms. Those ghosts who come from ideas are called ‘neverborns’. There seem to be almost an infinite number of ghosts, however not all of them are interested in having anything to do with us so we tend to get the same faces showing up a lot in Amity.
“I don’t know how many liminals there are. I thought they might be new with my parents' research but as I look into it more I think there are more natural sources of ectoplasm then my parents thought.” Jazz explained before going to transition to the next slide.
“I have a question-” Bruce started before Jazz hushed him.
“Wait till the end please! I might answer it without you having to ask,” She scolded, and he felt very much like a schoolboy again as his children snickered.
(Next slide including a image of the glowing green viles in the Fenton’s lab and a glowing green crystal)
Ghost biology
Ghosts do not have any recognizable organs or bones
The only solid part of their being is their Core which is the source of their ectoplasm
Any injury to a ghosts form not done directly to their core is considered minor and will heal
A healthy ghost is fully capable of mending any damage including removed limbs in a matter of hours or days depending on extent of the injury
All injuries not including the Core are considered minor
Ghosts are considered young for at least the first hundred years of their existence and are often not considered adults until nearly 500
A caveat to this is ghosts are heavily driven by emotion and will often be the age they feel they are allowing ghosts to mature much more quickly, or more slowly
When this is the case ghosts are treated as the age they present and behave
Ghosts reproduce by shaping ectoplasm and Wanting a child badly enough
“Believe me it was incredibly scary the first time I saw Danny in his ghost form have something go right through his stomach. It took him a long time to convince me it wasn’t a big deal and it barely hurt. He does have to make sure he repairs the damage Before turning human again though or the damage can transfer over and I don’t need to tell you a hole in the gut is a lot more serious for humans!
“If I’m honest I only know ghosts that have stayed younger then they really are, for instance Youngblood who’s a few hundred years old and could be well on his way to adulthood if he wanted but has remained a child. I assume it can go the other way though, if a ghost is very mature for their age.”
Ectoplasm
Ectoplasm is the energy that makes up all ghosts and the Ghost Zone itself. All ghosts can feed on the ectoplasm around them as well as produce their own by indulging in obsessions. The ghosts Cores produce the ectoplasm like a brain produces neurochemicals when exposed to the right stimulation.
Ectoplasm is a powerful source of energy but unstable. When it is stabilized into an ecto-crystal it is more stable and can be used as a power source safely by ghosts and liminals.
“Most ectoplasm is green like you see in the pictures. But it isn’t the only colour, some other ghosts produce different colours and it is highly tied to what emotion drives them. When it’s pure it usually smells like petracore but it can get pretty foul.”

What are Obsessions
Every ghost has one or more obsessions
They can be very literal things such as boxes, or ideas and emotions such as Love
In rarer cases they may have dual obsessions
Unlike for humans obsessions are very healthy for ghosts
Ghosts need to indulge their obsessions
Sometimes the way ghosts indulge their obsessions might seem evil, however it is almost always just amoral
Obsessions shape every part of a ghost from their powers to thier physical appearance, to befriend a ghost you Must understand and aid their obsession
In very extreme circumstances a ghosts obsession may shift, sometimes this is healthy, more often it is a result of extreme trauma
“With my interest in psychology this was sort of hard for me to accept. From the outside the way ghosts obsess seems really unhealthy but it’s what gives them life. When not allowed to indulge in their obsessions ghosts will dysregulate and go to extreme lengths to try and get their obsession, if that doesn’t work they either go dormant if their core is still healthy enough or they will melt.
“Ghosts change their obsessions very rarely, I’ve heard of it happening as they heal. For instance once a ghost has gotten revenge for themselves, if that was their obsession, their obsession might shift to avenging other people, or even protecting them so they don’t need to be avenged.”

Ghost Culture
The Ghosts have a monarchy
The title of the Ghost King is not hereditary but passed through trial by combat
Under the monarch is a council of being known as Observants, and powerful and old ghosts called Ancients
Ghosts respect strength and value power and cunning in combat a lot
Ghosts bond with each other through combat and play fight with family and friends often
“I have down that the ghosts are a monarchy, and technically that is true but the current Ghost King was a tyrant who was locked away thousands of years ago. I’m sure as soon as someone shows up who’s powerful enough to beat him his court will be happy to pick up where they left off with a better King, or queen, though I don’t think the title has to change based on gender.
“I really can’t stress enough how violent ghosts are! Because nothing short of having their cores shattered can kill them, play fighting for them can look Very Much like a murder attempt to a human. A lot of the issues we’ve had with ghosts have come from them just not understanding quite how fragile humans, and for most of them they feel really bad once they know they actually Hurt someone by shooting them. It’s really best for everyone when they’re kept separate and Ghosts can happily tear each other apart in peace.”
Liminals
The result of long term low level exposure to ectoplasm, sudden high doses are almost always deadly
Liminals Can have almost every trait a ghost can, usually having a combination of a few
Commonalities between liminals include
Minor cosmetic changes such as: glowing eyes, pointed ears, and/or sharp teeth
Increased stamina, strength, and aggression
Increased obsessive behaviour
Liminals sometimes develop powers shaped by the strength and type of obsession
“Most of the people Danny and I know are liminals. I don’t want to talk about them in case they don’t want to be outed so I’ll talk about myself and my parents. We all had prolonged exposure after all. My ears are pointed,” She said brushing her hair back so they could see them, “And Danny is a little more then liminal but even in human form he has fangs.
“My parents didn’t realize it but they could to the point they could subsist on their obsession without needing to eat or sleep as often as a regular human would. About a year ago I started developing the ability to tap into and feel other peoples emotions, I can feed on them a little too but I try not to because the Worst ghost we met did that and I don’t want to be anything like her.”

In conclusion
Ghosts are not evil even though sometimes their actions are hard to understand
Never get between ghosts when they’re fighting each other but it’s usually safe to yell at them to remind them not to break anything
Never get between a ghost and their obsession
Don’t drink ectoplasm unless you know you’re already liminal
“I have a feeling the section about liminals will be familiar to a bunch of you. I know Damian is liminal though I don’t know how he was exposed to ectoplasm and some of you,” Her eyes skirted across Tim and Bruce. “Are toeing the line. You’ll probably notice Damian and Danny getting really close, and they might get in some really vicious looking fights. I promise Danny is playing at least.”
The family was left silent for a moment, Bruce knew he was thinking about Jason. Who had died, been exposed to.. What certainly seemed to be something like Lazarus water and come back, obsessive, aggressive, and emotional. He wished he’d had this powerpoint a long time ago. It helped understand Damian too but mostly he was thinking about Jason. He needed to reach out again, maybe meeting Danny would be good for Jason?
“So uhhh, ya, that’s the end of the powerpoint?” Jazz said, shifting from foot to foot in the awkward silence. “Any questions?”
