but WHY does corypheus lose the ability to body-hop when the dragon dies? it pisses me off every time i play or read about it. it just feels like a cop-out. i think part of the reason i love hollyleaf but really hate her comeback is because she was a fascinating look into a downward spiral from expectations. she didnt kill ashfur because she was a girlboss or because he was threatening her. she killed him because he knew the truth, and if he said it, that would make it real. in some fucked up way, if he died, maybe that truth would die with him and she could go back to the happy lie.

but she couldnt. because killing him didnt change the truth. and learning just how far it went broke her so utterly because by the laws she had been raised by, she was an abomination twice over. the prophecy didnt matter anymore, her family didnt matter anymore, because hollyleaf had sworn herself to the culture of the clans, of SERVING her clan (because the prophey was service, always to make herself the greatest warrior of thunderclan), and how could she do that when her very existence spat in the face of their laws?

hollyleaf thought she had lost everything, and the ironic part is that… she really didnt? she was still firestars grandaughter. she still came from a grand legacy, was still a notably skilled, almost prodigal warrior, was decently liked and experienced, still had a family that loved her. she had everything a clan culture would want, but she broke their laws by existing, and so everything else meant nothing and everybody involved had to be punished.

so its kind of a slap in the face to have her come back and her redemption being to “let the warrior code rule our hearts” when her tale was a cautionary one of what happens when you allow the law to color your perception of the world and the value of people. it addresses the murder without the motivation, or any of her other crimes, her resentful bigotry towards the woman who raised her, her cruelty towards the mother who wanted her and loved her so badly that she was willing to forgive ATTEMPTED MURDER without an apology. all it did was absolve one (1) crime without resolving the actual conflict of the character.

The first time Aemond realizes his political marriage could be more than that. Reader and him are in the gardens or library just passing time and they seem genuinely interested in what his favorite flowers, books, and things to do are.

Aemond had always known that one day his parents would make a match for him and he would be forced into that political marriage as part of his duties to his family. Of course he knew this, but that didnt mean that he wasn't unhappy about it. When the day finally came and he was told a match had been made, he just sort of shrugged and asked when the wedding would be.

He was determined to hate you from the very start. He denied all requests to meet you beforehand, wouldnt even answer any letters you sent him. He knew his duty was to marry you and father children and he would do that, but he was determined to not do anything more than that.

This proved to be so much more challenging than he thought. He wasn't expecting you to be kind to him, and he certainly wasn't expecting you to go out of your way to respect his boundaries. That was the first thing that made him pause and reconsider things. He had always thought marriage and intimacy would be akin to what happened to him at the brothel all those years ago. He had assumed his wife would just start it, remove his clothes, tell him what to do, leave the room after and then wait a few weeks to see if an heir had been made. If not, the whole thing would have to happen again.

He felt like the wind had been knocked out of him the first time you showed this unconditional respect and care. He had finally had too much of his mother's demands that he do his duty and so he had you summoned to your marriage chambers, that neither of you actually stay in at this point. You know why he's called you at first, but even so you decide to take things slowly. You cupped his cheek, and then raised your other hand to his face. Aemond was about to recoil, thinking you were about to remove his eyepatch, but then instead you actually fix his eyepatch? You gently unwind the hair that got stuck on the rope of the eyepatch and then pulled it down slightly to fit better around his head, ensuring it wouldnt fall off.

Aemond is speechless. He just stands there in shock, trying to process how you just did something so kind for him without a second thought?

Of course that instant isn't enough for Aemond to change his mind about your marriage just yet, but it's the moment Aemond first considered that you might be different than he expected.

The next time he sees this is a few days later when you're being having to endure some fancy dinner with some rich and utterly insufferable lords to ensure they keep their oaths to the king. You were originally supposed to sit opposite Aemond at the table, but you moved before anyone else arrived and sat down next to him instead. He's confused at first, until one of the lords starts telling a story about his hunting escapades and you lean towards him a bit more, whispering in his ear that there's no way this lord has killed a single animal, nevermind the insane deeds he's going on and on about.

You can see the way the corner's of Aemond's mouth tilt up ever so slightly to form a small, amused smile that he has to try and hide from the lord who still hasn't shut up. The comments slow easily from there, whispering to each other or making gestures only the other could see. Aemond couldnt remember s single thing about the dinner or the plans made by the end of it. He was far too busy whispering to you and listening to your comments.

(Later on, after you have been together for a long time, that whispering to each other so soft you can barely hear a sound becomes something you and him are known for.)

It's after that that he has to begrudgingly accept that you might not be the awful bride he had imagined. At its very best he was hoping for a wife that didnt make his life hell. He in no way expected even the possibility of someone who actually seems to understand him and enjoy his company? For a few weeks he's constantly trying to reel himself back, try to keep up the cold act with you but it was failing quickly.

Interestingly enough, the thing that throws him over the edge is actually overhearing you speak to others? Aemond had been on his own for so long, for his entire life really. Not literally of course, but he was never treated like the other children. He was never given the same care and safety as everyone else. He had just assumed you would be more on his mother's wife than his.

One day he's walking in the castle and hears your voice, then more specifically hears your voice saying his name. He stays hidden against the wall just before the doorway and listens to the rest of the conversation. He's speechless when he hears you tell off someone, reminding them that Aemond is your husband and you will never, ever betray him. He doesn't know what he did to get this loyalty. If he was being completely honest he's ben a useless, lousy husband for the entire duration of his marriage thus far and yet there you are, still defending him despite it all.

Once Aemond realises he may have found confidant in you, then the entire dynamic changes. Everything about how you speak to and about him help him realise that he may finally have someone on his eyes.

The two of you start to have dinner alone most nights in your shared chambers. You're supposed to have dinner, try for an heir and then both go off to your respective private quarters for sleep, but none of that follows dinner for a long time. Instead, you ask Aemond about his day and offer advice and quips alongside letting him complain and rant in a place where he knows his words won't be used against him.

He's never had a bond like that, never had someone he immediately thought of whenever something happened and he wanted to talk about it or complain about it. It stops being about politics after that.

(Sidenote: i do think there could be some angst when Aemond realises he wants more of a true partnership because there will inevitability be a rough period where he wants do desperately to be with you more but also thinks you still just consider the marriage one of politics)

When Mal decided to open the barrier forever, it was cerainly an adjusment for everyone.

The Vks that came over to auradon were enrolled into auradon prep and all assigned an auradon student to help them settle in and answer any questions they might have.

You weren't the biggest fan of that arrangementt. Not because you didnt like or trust the vks, you were actually quite close with all of the cour four. You just werent a big people person. So having to share your dorm with someone you dont know and most likely having them at your side 24/7? Not ideal for you.

Especially when you heard who you were going to be paired with. 

But Mal had basically begged you to help. 

"Please. I know you dont like this but he is kind of difficult and i know that you could handle him. I dont know anyone else that could."

So you reluctantly agreed.

Mal was right. Harry Hook was certainly difficult. He was really stuck in ways and refused to change. He refused to follow any rules, he was mean and he hated school. And the worst thing? He was stupidly hot.

Now, you hated school just as much, and you did skip a few lessons here and there but you had respect for your teachers and your peers. And you knew that unfortunately school was important for your future. 

Usually you couldnt care less if other people got on trouble but harry was your responsibility now, so everytime he got into trouble, you were getting dragged into it. And you hated it.

So thats how you ended up in fairy godmothers office for the 7th time that week (it was thursday) sitting next to Harry, who just looked bored while you were about to beat him up.

This has been happeneing for almost 3 months at this point.

Back in your dorm Harry threw himself onto his bed.

Without looking at him you stormed out of the room and slammed the door behind you.

The rest of your day was spend ranting to Mal and Evie about Harry.  Mal hat texted Uma during your rant, telling her to speak with Harry. He would probably listen to her. She was his best friend after all.

You dreaded going to bed that night. Just being in the same room with him.

Uma left your Room just before you arrived, so when you entered Harry was sitting on his bed, a conflicted expression on his face. 

You decided to ignore him, just grabbing a pair of sweatpants and heading to the bathroom to change for bed.

When you exited the beathroom agin harry had also changed into sweatpants. GREY sweatpants.

Fuck. Was he trying to kill you?

His head perked up at the sound of the bathroom door. 

"Hey..."

You looked over at him.

"What Hook?"

He looked a little conflicted still, which confused you. Why the sudden change in mood?

"Look... I'm nae good at this but- fuck..." He sighed exxasperated. "I wanted to apologize."

You head snapped to him again In surprise.

"What?"

"I acted like a total dickhead." He started ranting, trying to get it all outbefore he mentally talked himself out of it. " I didnt care how I might hurt ya. And I don't even have a good reason for that. I was just scared. I was scared of being vulnerable. All I have ever known was the Isle. I am used to hiding myself behind a Tough outside and I was scared to change from that."

Harry quickly wiped his eyes of the tears swimming in them, hoping you wouldnt notice. But you did.

You were shocked by his sudden and surprisingly honest outburst. For a few very long seconds you just stared at each other.

"Harry...." You took a slow step towards him. "I'm sorry. I should've realized how hard this would be. And I know it will be difficult, but i promise you that from now on you wont have to hide anymore. You're safe here." 

Now, standing right before harry, you layed your hand on his shoulder. Harrys eyes met yours, once again swimming with tears but a small smile gacing his lips.

"Thank ye."

You reached up to wipe the tear that had fallen from his eye, your hand resting on harrys cheek, his head leaning into your touch.

You noticed how close you two had gotten. Your eyes flickering from harrys eyes to his lips for a split second.

"Harry?" Your noses brushed against each other ever so slightly.

"Yea?" His voice was barely a whisper.

"I really hope I'm not reading this wrong," You voice matched his. "but can I kiss you?"

Harry was silent, and for a few excruciating second you truly thought you were wrong. Harry was into guys, you knew that much. He didnt hide that part about himself. But did he like you?

"Yes please." 

A small sigh of relief left your mouth as you leaned in, your lips moving against his. Harrys hands moved to your hips, gripping at the exposed skin, thanks to your lack of shirt. In turn your hands wrapped around his neck, your fingers gripping onto his hair.

When you parted for air, you kept your eyes closed, your foreheads leaning against each other. 

For a few seconds all you could hear was you heavy breathing and your own heartbeat, loud in your ears, before Harry leaned in and kissed you again. His hands pulling you flush against his bare chest by your hips.

Once again you pulled back, this time a little more, looking into each others eyes.

"Thank ye, darlin"

"Always."

what if cc donnie gets sent to a similar world during the krang future where he isn’t there because he died during the curse. post cl makes the most sense but oh wouldn’t it be grand if cw donnie goes and sees these older bigger stronger versions of his brothers but they can barely even look at him without crying

honestly he doesnt even need to die during the curse. in a cc version of the bad future donnie's death tears everything apart regardless, first their family and likely eventually the resistance-- and he's the first to go for sure, he was so aware of how loved he was and yet he was so convinced he was still disposable, that it'd be better if he died.

i doooo think you could kill him off at any point and achieve the same effect though, maybe itd be worse if donnie died in cw because he didn't run off in event horizon and he just kind of faded away. they have more of a reason to be so aggressively protective and to feel even more like they failed, because donnie was terrified of dying and he begged and pleaded and they still watched it happen anyway. he probably died scared and crying begging for his life, just like under the curse-- and this time they were there, fully themselves, and they couldnt do anything about it. they couldn't fix it. holding him wasn't enough.

ive actually had a really strong idea of what would happen if donnie died that way. leo would just leave, just abandons them as a completely self-destructive move, set adrift without donnie there. mikey goes almost full-time with draxum to learn more about mystics, more due to paranoia about something like the curse happening again and as a result of leo only tearing the wound wider by leaving first (he'll probably still unlock his ninpo early though), leaving raph and splinter in that broken home alone together. it automatically dooms the timeline-- the invasion hits and mikey's quick to find his family through the chaos, but leo takes months, maybe even an up to a year or longer, to find them, and they're not happy to see him, raph especially. regardless of the proposed premise i think it has a lot of potential tbhhh its a very interesting concept

i talk about yandere seto sometimes but in season 0 it is pretty much canon, like he is actively stalking yugi throughout the show and i think its really funny so heres a bunch of evidence of that:

the first time we see it is when he sends that first game master out, he's not only hiding to listen to the duel in the nurses office but its heavily implied that he's been stalking yugi for a little bit before that too

like at the end of the day anzu tells yugi not to go to the arcade and yugi kind of rushes off despite knowing he doesnt have the money, meaning this is a frequent thing he does, but whats more is that he's going specifically that day because someones told him theres a new game being unveiled. when he gets there he cant find it and has to ask about it, which is when we see a disguised kaiba lead him to the back alley to kidnap him (this killed me to watch btw, yugi has no self preservation, but it was cute that kaiba seemed to stutter when talking to him)

but this all means that he was watching yugi long enough to know he always goes to the arcade after school and that yugi wouldnt be able to resist coming, even if he didnt have the money, as long as there was something new to play. it also means he had someone plant the information that thered be a new game OR that kaiba just disguised himself and told yugi this which is what im choosing to believe

of course, then we get to see him actually stalking him in the triplets episode, literally driving by and watching him (which is so funny to think about cuz his driver must be so tired of him lol)

at first i honestly thought he was stalking the triplets but at the end of the episode there is no reveal that he wanted them out of the dueling scene or that he was even worried about them getting the card they wanted at all, he beat them extremely easily. his only reason for doing the duel is because he couldnt stand the thought of someone (that he hadnt sent himself) beating yugi before he could, so i think he was watching yugi, recognized the triplet, and got bothered by them trying to encroach in on his rival

he also apparently records yugi? this recording is just the first game master playing him that he shows to aileen, but who knows how many other times he's recorded him just in case he 'needed' the footage

this moment of him lamenting about being connected by fate is ooc for him and not really stalking but it is very yandere of him so im throwing it in here anyways

and of course i have to add the death t invitation because you know he was watching yugi and his friends that whole day just waiting for the perfect moment to hack into something and invite him as dramatically as possible (however i wont add any of the death t stuff cuz like. we know what happens and how obsessive he is there)

since having this in my drafts, the season 0 movie has been restored and posted to youtube and in it kaiba is technically looking out for rare cards but even then he's managing to get in some time to stalk yugi (also the way his employee says "i know sir" i just know they're so tired of his obsessive ass)

damn is this how the boys acted before they got to the devildom the first time ??? i see why they love mc so much, especially lucifer. family is the most important thing to him, it's why he acts the way he does and it's why the celestial war happened in the first place. being clouded with this much tension as a family had to have been extremely emotionally strenuous for him, aside from the frustration that comes from rowdy younger siblings

and it was obviously just as bad for his little brothers. they couldnt understand why lucifer was pulling away from them so much. and caused trouble to get any kind of attention from him, to keep him from holing himself up in his room and drowning himself in paperwork

it probably especially hurt mammon to see lucifer like this. his big brother who wants afraid of anything suddenly afraid of addressing his own feelings and fears of his family falling apart

i would like to let it be known that i was not AT ALL being serious when i picked the "can't we talk it out" option...why are we talking to a clump of glass petals ??

why am i even questioning anything that happens in this game anymore ????

every almost negative vision is really just lucifer's nightmare. not having the love or care or mutual respect that families are built upon is like nit having a family at all. we already know how luci feels about family. like i get that it's supposed to be funny but when you think about it in context with the game's events, this is actually really sad ???

this is also SEVERELY ooc. like i'm not crazy right ??? mammon does not use his powers like that for something as petty as a lackluster insult, and satan would come up with a much better insult than that

all jokes aside, i couldn't ever see the boys acting like this. ever. under any circumstance. even early on in the 1st game, it wasn't this bad. they butted heads and were emotionally constipated, but they still acted like brothers

i feel like the flower is showing them the worst versions of themselves, not just the way things would be without mc. bc things were relatively ok without them before. they werent the best, but they survived and didn't kill each other for millenia before mc came into the picture

now i didn't trust or particularly care for raphael in the og game, but that's mainly bc of the way he was talked about by the characters well before his appearance and the fact that he seemed standoffish. i like this raphael, and i want more

thinking about these boys starting a band together. they decide the positions will go as such: tom as lead guitarist + sub-vocals, mattheo on drums, theo as the bassist, draco on keyboard, enzo as main vocals and blaise as sub-guitarist.

they sit there in the common room, everyone bickering about who can come up with a better band name. tom sighs and pulls at his eyes with a groan. do they ever shut up?

draco scoffs and turns to tom, "alright then. think you've got a better name?"

tom blinks and gives him a blank look before saying, "uh yes. i've got plenty of better names actually." the boys look at him expectantly and suddenly tom is realising he has to give them a name suggestion, (spoiler alert: he actually had none.)

the usually quiet prefect clears his throat, "how about the deatheaters?" he asks. good, he thinks, that came out more certain than it did in my head.

mattheo raises his eyebrows in surprise and clicks his tongue. "damn, that's actually kind of sick. vote?" he glances around to see multiple grins and aggressive nodding from lorenzo (he gets excited easily.)

they practice for months, sometimes missing dinner and even breakfast just to get more acquainted with their positions and instruments. they finally convince dumbledore to let them play at a school dance — he's definitely slightly regretting it but he figures he can't take it back now.

theo swallows anxiously as he sees just how many students showed up to the dance and blaise sighs as he places a hand on the boy's shoulder. "chill, mate. we're going t' kill it out there."

"why are there so many people?!" theo attempts to whisper as he turns to his bandmates with wide-eyes. tom shrugs, draco shakes his head and continues reading over his music sheet, lorenzo chews his lip — just as nervous as theo... and mattheo? well...

"duh," the curly-haired boy gives a crooked smirk, cocky as ever. "they're here to see us — and by us i mean me."

tom smacks his brother in the shoulder and mattheo winces, rubbing it in a soothing manner. "i was kidding!"

dumbledore calls them onto the make-shift stage while the curtains are closed and mattheo throws his cigarette onto the floor, digging into it with his foot to put it out. blaise gags, "that's a disgustung habit."

mattheo shrugs and the band make their way onto the stage, taking their places. enzo up front, tom on his right and a little behind, mattheo at the back with his drumkit kind of floating in the air (magic perks), theo in the same place as tom but left, draco diagonally to mattheo's left and blaise just next to enzo.

lorenzo and tom clear their throats and take a sip from their water bottles before scrambling to peg them into the wings (accidentally hitting professor slughorn for which tom winces and apologises.) mattheo counts in with his sticks before starting in with a relatively quick beat, guitars being strummed and keyboard notes being played.

enzo's voice is a little deeper than usual and the crowd's reaction made it clear that they weren't expecting it. people from different houses looked up at the band, mesmorised.

mattheo had a grin on his face, his curls bouncing gently against his sweaty forehead as he hit the drums. blaise was focusing on the neck of his guitar, making sure not to mess up any notes, his skin so pretty under the gold stage light. tom couldn't care less about the audience but when his fingers moved quickly, so smooth against the strings of his guitar as he backed enzo's vocals and girls started screaming — it definitely boosted his ego a little. theo was more relaxed now, his eyes showing excitement as his stomach settled. draco blew strands of hair that fell out of his slicked back style away from his face, messing up a few chords but he was certain nobody noticed anyway.

when they finish up, the boys felt a rush of adrenaline and pride as everyone starts whistling and clapping.

they rush off the stage all giddy, smacking eachother on the back as they whoop and grin at eachother.

"whose idea was this again?" blaise asks, raising a brow.

tom shrugs with a sly smirk and hands a lighter to mattheo after he whines about needing a light for his cigarette. "no idea, but it was genius."

I think the biggest factor re: Seph being the only one who broke down so spectacularly is that he actually had the power to back it up.

Everything about how he was raised, what was done to him, and the perfect storm of Nibelheim just lined up perfectly with the fact that he actually had the power to back up his breakdown.

Like no one else is as strong as Sephiroth. Other characters whos only major kneejerk problem solving skill (violence) simply do not have his firepower. He has the magic, he has the physical power, he has the skill.

The games have power creep and all so its hard to see this, but Sephiroth in the lore was just totally unmatched except for Cloud in terms of what a single person could do. Zack is crazy strong, and Sephiroth had to have been sleep deprived and not eating for a week and mentally compromised for Zack and Cloud to just barely win and nearly die in the process.

Sephiroth has the biggest rampage because he has the tools to do it in a way that any of the other people on a violent mental breakdown bender simply do not.

I dont think, strictly speaking, the reason why he broke down like that specifically was simply because he was always destined to do so - I dont think he was destined to always go evil- but it was 100% only a matter of time before he simply couldnt take the strain of everything and had a serious mental breakdown of some kind. Eventually the untreated trauma just piles up so much you cant function anymore.

He didnt have to have chosen violence as his method of mental breakdown, but with the situation as it was, that is what he landed on. He could have just as easily chosen to take his own life or made a beeline for the brass and killed them all instead given other circumstances.

Without Jenova whispering in his ear, he probably would have chosen one of those, I think. In even fairly well adjusted people irl, discovering what unnecessary violating medical atrocities were done to you as a child secondhand off your medical records is often incredibly harrowing.

Theres just so many layers to why Sephiroth snapped and why Sephiroth behaved like that beforehand.

When characterizing him, I feel like people really undersell and underestimate what chronic trauma starting from childhood does to your sense of self, decisionmaking skills, emotional regulation, and ability to cope with shock.

Like without the way he was raised, he would simply not be the same person. Chronic childhood trauma becomes your sense of self when you experience it because your sense of self was forming when you were put through all of that. Its baked into your bones and how your brain is wired.

A Sephiroth who was raised in a loving family that wasnt medically violated or stuck in a lab or trained as a child soldier and set loose in war and put up as a carefully cultivated symbol would simply be unrecognizable. He would not act the same, he would not have the same preferences, he would not have the same insecurities or instability. He wouldnt be recognizably Sephiroth- not just because no cat eyes and white hair.

Because to be Sephiroth, he has to be incredibly traumatized by default.

Im not saying that his trauma of all the characters was the Most Awful and therefore he blew up the worst or w/e, but more that this multilayered complex trauma left Sephiroth unable to healthily cope with all the events piled on him during the events of Crisis Core.

I think the factor of how childhood trauma and continued abuse completely shapes how you respond to things as an adult is often lost in the discourse when people try to detangle Sephiroth's actions, so thank you for pointing that out.

Another thing, when talking about how Sephiroth's power is unmatched, is the Jenova cells in him (and how he later became one with Jenova) The only thing that took down Jenova was the Cetra because it/she was that powerful. So while he wasn't destined to break down, you have to admit that something was waiting to happen given what Jenova was.

hold on wait a second i had a thought

in the DLC prolouge cutscene for DMC 5, when Vergil is in that stone passageway area, he says "its nearly time" (in reference to him splitting himself in half).

We know what day it happens, april 30th. The date is shown in Nero's flashback scene. This is of course assuming Vergil did all that on the same day, which i think is what happened. (He could open a portal to his house to travel, and why would he wait any longer and risk dying first?)

Anyway. Thats not my point, my point is: did he choose to do it on this day on purpose? Is this date special?

Im overanalyzing here so this may be a stretch, but: Could that be the day Eva died? Think about it. Him splitting himself was a "rebirth" of sorts: discarding his humanity to become a full demon in search of ultimate power.

Vergil being stabbed by those demons the day Eva died could also be counted as a kind of rebirthing for him: In the span of a few hours, he lost everything. His family, his life. And maybe even, his full humanity, as he gained his DT form in that moment too (shown by him having the same triggered-style eyes Dante uses when threatening V toward the start, also (half)triggered.) No longer was he a mere human boy, but now half a devil - the things that killed his family - too.

Knowing Vergil, it could make sense. In DMC 3 he's quite proper and a bit sentimental, much more so than Dante and i can see him caring more for these kinds of niche details in his life a lot more than Dante too. I also think he may have still been in that mindset when coming out of the Nelo Angelo body (however that happened), in a way that he hasnt really grown or matured while he was Nelo Angelo due to all the mind-fuckery performed thanks to Mundus.

(Could also be clarification for the reason Vergil still looks so young, quote "because of how much time he's spent in the underworld compared to Dante". He didnt live there, certainly not by choice. But he was captured and tortured by Mundus for 10 years. My thoughts is that he's technically still in his teenage body, as becoming Nelo Angelo and being in the underworld for so long thanks to Mundus halted (or at least very significantly slowed) the aging process. Time could move slower in hell but thats a rant for another time, ive gone off track.)

As such, him choosing such a special (traumatic) date to essential commit suicide on doesnt seem like much of a reach to me. Vergil has always been methodic. He doesn't do things hap-hazardly and never has, even as Nelo Angelo when he invites Dante outside to set up a proper fight rather than just taking the opportunity and attacking in the bedroom.

Of course you can argue it was coincidence, and he just stumbled across Nero by chance and decided to do it right then and there. He had to have found Nero first of all, figured out his plan of attack (probably so he wouldnt draw unwanted attention and possibly be stopped), then actually put it into motion. He couldnt exactly control the date Nero happened to be in the right place at the right time and gave him an opening. Im not trying to convince or anything, just sharing ideas, But wouldn't it just be so in character for april 30th to be a special date for him??

Overall i at least think the reason he chose to do it at the house was intentional for reasons stated above. If it wasnt, then why didn't he just... idk, find an alleyway or something and split himself there?

Those are my thoughts. Id love to hear other people's theories and such on this too.

(EDIT: I REALIZED THE MOMENT HE SPLITS HIMSELF ALSO PROBABLY HAPPENS AT A SPECIFIC TIME AS WELL, NAMELY 6:00 PM.

It mustve taken him some time to get back to the house. Not hours, but not seconds. 15 minutes seems like a good amount of travel time for someone who can teleport using portals alongside a bit of walking. If he got there early he could've just waited too.

In VOV while it is black and white, i assume the attack happened late into the evening, since the sky is dark when he gets back to the house a bit later. Idk how he would've known that it was exactly 6:00 but... anyway, Mundus also seems like the type of guy to plan shit, especially an attack like he did to Eva and the twins, if that whole "eva died on april 30th" thing was true.)

HALLO FINNB!!! interesting question :o my thoughts on frederica are. a little mixed. but ultimately i think what we’ve seen from her so far is interesting and that she has a lot of potential here.

we just dont know all that much about her :(( on one level i get it—rezeros cast is immense and naturally tappei has to rotate through everyone and give every character focus and spotlight at different times. but bc we dont know that much about frederica i feel like shes mostly just Kinda There, yknow? :<< we know way more about garfiel and i feel like frederica being kept on the backburner for so long kinda works against her and the emilia camp in general writing wise just bc she just has to be stuck in I Havent Had My Character Arc Limbo when the emilia camp is the main group we see consistently for rezeros main route ig. or at least thats my thoughts on it atm :<<

plus i was honestly kinda sad frederica didnt get to go along in arc 5 If Only bc she didnt get to see what her mom is up to firsthand. then theres the actual arc 4-5 interlude with frederica and garf trying to bond after sanctuary that i HOPE gets included in s3 :<< frederica is just lacking in screentime and literally almost any info at all for sure. which makes me sad bc tappei LET ME IN I WANNA KNOW MORE ABOUT HER !!! >:(((

and again i get it that tappei cant develop every character in existence at the same time. dude has to juggle the most massive cast especially by arc 7. but definitely this has its drawbacks especially with the way tappei writes everyone. bc at the moment frederica is one of the characters suffering the most from it—she appeared all the way back in arc 4 and four arcs later i cannot tell you all that much about her :<

i do think though that what we do see from her so far is interesting!! her insecurity regarding her appearance, like her sharp teeth, her being so fond of petra while also being so dead set on disciplining petra firmly when needed (which is sweet!!!), that one ss where frederica takes care of ram when shes feeling more under the weather than usual (which is Again super super adorable), frederica listening with a smile as emilia gushes about subaru to her. and also her just flatly pitying otto and hearing this guy say hes totally normal and being like “he Literally cannot perceive himself accurately at all” + dropping otto in the anime just to hug petra is fucking hilarious i need fredotto fics to actually acknowledge this.

but also other details like—and ok granted i dont remember every detail on frederica (yet) but leaving garfiel like that is still kind of. a dick move HAH. and i know her reason was smth along the lines of wanting to improve the outside world for demihumans iirc but like whats her Full Reasons for doing all that?? what was she even planning to do?? why couldnt she talk to or see garfiel more in this entire time period?? i think it comes with the interesting implication that frederica isnt entirely as nice and sweet as she looks—or at least that of course she herself is flawed. which is fun!!

also her relationship with clind is. ………..naturally of course i dont trust tappei with anything regarding children and clinds weird shit with children but ignoring tappei for a moment i do at least appreciate the complicated thoughts frederica has about clind. how she had feelings for him once and they still linger but she keeps her distance bc hes like That, you know? that feeling of broken trust and “i cared for you now what do i do with This Feeling” is So interesting to me i just hate clind’s whole thing with children bc tappei will never write it in an entirely serious and satisfactory manner 😭 BUT greed if and the dynamic between frederica and clind and frederica having to help kill / kill clind bc of greedbaru and echidnas shit is SO interesting (and clinds lore apart from being Creepy About Children is very interesting). but also poor frederica……….. ;-;

im not fully familiar with fredericas side of the complicated family drama but if memory serves me right her birth was. not an entirely happy affair bc her poor mom has been through A Lot of shit and frederica was a product of that. and then her mom later tries to go find garfiel’s dad. like all of that is just so incredibly sad to me and again, i wish frederica was there to see what happened to her mom in arc 5, and also im curious about how thats affected frederica more in depth. knowing she wasnt exactly wanted. having these demihuman features from her dad (im assuming), whos also One Of the people who hurt her mom. knowing that she was born a burden, learning that her mom cant entirely take care of her and isnt in a stable life situation and almost certainly isnt mentally stable herself. garfiel coming along and their mom leaving. frederica leaving garfiel in sanctuary herself. her growing up admiring clind, which is an unfortunate parallel to what couldve happened with her mom and garfiel’s dad. its just so so tragic to me and theres a lot of things you could explore there!!

frederica to me seems like someone whos probably grown up too fast, who comes off as composed and very disciplined and likes taking care of others but also fumbles a little at growing closer and is insecure and uncertain herself even as shes good at being the older and wiser one to petra and later garfiel a bit. but also we dont know much about her so im kinda just spitballing here but she has potential methinks :,) im definitely sad that it seems like the fact that shes a pretty anime waifu or whatever kinda overtakes discussions on her character sometimes ;-;

and also one of my pals is really passionate about animals and gave me a whole lecture once a few years ago on why they think fredericas beast form design fucking sucks and i cant remember all of their points now but like i Will back them up i think garfiel and fredericas beast forms could look better but im not an expert at illustrating animals so HAH i cant speak on that. but def the eyebrows on the beast designs is so…… whaaaaat is that 😭 go FULL beast design or NOTHING. WHERE IS MY EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA BUFF FREDERICA BEAST DESIGN !!!

i decided that today would be the day i clean out my frog’s terrarium and get a fresh start since the substrate started out being too dry and chunky when i first put the tank together and it couldnt drain properly in some places (but also it worked kind of? 2 of my plants are healthy and 2 of them died. but idk it half functioned and wasn’t having any bacteria growth or mold but i just have been wanting to clean it). and i thought i prepared but i actually did not, i need to replace my false bottom because a bunch of substrate got all up in it BUT NEITHER PET STORE IN TOWN nor HOME DEPOT OR LOWES carries the fucken leca clay balls of ANY BRAND😭😭everyone is out of stock, even walmart, and the fastest i can order something is a couple days but i need something Now because my son is sitting in his temporary home😭😭 like he’ll be fine, he’s a hardy lad, but now i dont know what to do and i feel stupid for not just ordering ahead like i did last time. i technically could do without a drainage layer but it makes me nervous and i’d have to clean it out sooner and i just don’t Want to. i had nightmares even with the drainage layer about bacteria or mold overrunning my entire terrarium and killing my frog😭😭so im afraid my subconscious is going to have a field day eating me alive at night with this one. i havent thrown away my previous false bottom but it’s just got substrate in it so i could reuse them if i clean it off somehow (they shouldnt need to get replaced anyways) but now i dont have a mesh liner to separate my substrate from it because i threw that away because i. i dont know. i dont know. and NOBODY SELLS THOSE EITHER except for amazon and if i order one it wont get here for at least a week. im laying down now because i am overwhelmed. i thought i was doing so great because i cleaned out all the substrate which was the hardest part but now this is the evil mr larry time. this is a HORRIBLE time!!!! i feel like an evil frog mom what am i going to do. simplest solution is to have no balls but that’s terrifying because substrate may get stinky and moldy and it’s just a terrible time. i need to calm down im so frustrated though

petsmart is also just a terrible place to be during the day because it’s so full of parents and their kids just ogling the birds reptiles and fish and filling up isles and taking up workers when i just need to get some crickets. and they talk about the animals in a way that makes my skin crawl because you can hear that they have no knowledge whatsoever about how to actually care for a crested gecko or a frog or a spider or a bird and they just want something cool or pretty to look at. i got so overwhelmed bc the isles were just full of families where i needed to be and i couldn’t even find someone to ask for crickets so i just left and decided i’ll probably come back later at night. and i was also upset and starting to freak out about having no freakin balls. okay first - robert & cersei baby is slightly more forgiveable because we get two really great scenes out of it. i wish cersei had just been lying about the baby to catelyn, as a way of trying to emotionally reach out/manipulate her. it would be a very cersei thing to do, and imo sort of a precursor to her taena relationship - i've said this before but cersei really wants groupies, it's why she falls for taena so fast, it's why she loves qyburn so much! she is just like, desperate for friends (friends who don't talk back, anyway), and i can see cersei figuring she could smooth over this not-quite-killing-bran fuckup by telling catelyn a sad story about how she lost a baby that she never actually lost. and when she mentions it to robert, it's in the middle of a really great scene.

COMMA BUT. it's sooooo ooc for cersei to risk having a baby by robert and it's not a change you can justify. she would just never do that. i think they could have kept the story between her and catelyn and had her reveal later in the season it was a lie - i think lena could have really sold something like that, the way cersei really is trying to comfort catelyn as sure as she is mostly trying to cover for her mistakes. it's just kind of a goofy change to me.

NOW THE CATELYN SCENE. ASS. ASS ON ASS.

I think what annoys me about that scene is Catelyn does feel some guilt over how she treats Jon - it's why she's so uncomfortable around Mya Stone, for example. She's well aware that the way she treats him is unfair, and the way she is so suspicious of bastards in general is unfair, and she keeps it to herself when she interacts with Mya, but she really sits in that guilt - and then discards it, because Robb needs her to focus. I think Catelyn would describe her feelings as essentially being unable to love a motherless child; she's a very maternal sort of person, and she's a very compassionate sort of person. When she tells Ned to send Jon away she specifically thinks that she's being "hard" - she's not immune to Ned's love for his son, it has an effect on her. It's just an effect she refuses to acknowledge.

COMMA BUT. She would NEVER and I mean NEVER say that shit out loud, certainly not to a near STRANGER. And she would nevver link her feelings towards Jon to what happened to Bran and Rickon. It's so frustrating to me because we already have several scenes where Catelyn deals with her Jon Snow issues, in the aforementioned Mya Stone interactions and that argument she has with Robb about his will. And they just cut them for a scene that is not good! Because like, I love Michelle Fairley, but it's not a good scene! The dialogue is overdramatic and stupid, and the filming is bad. They're just having her sit there and stare into the middle distance while monologuing. How is that more interesting than her climbing the mountain with Mya Stone, or arguing with Robb alone? Just a stupid choice.
