The Sunday Ramble

Hello. I'm pen, and today im going to ramble about Sunday. If you dislike him, please get off my page. I cannot stress this enough.

So, why do I like Sunday?

short answer: he tickles my brain.

Long Answer:

As a character, he's super compelling to me because of 3 things: his design, his backstory, and his personality.

I enjoy both of his designs for a lot of reasons.

Old Design rant:

I think the eyes hidden throughout his design is such a neat detail because you don't see it a lot, and because I like to think that he had like a bunch of them that could kinda see (eventually ill do a redesign with the eyes). I also just think it looks really nice to wear. Like. I'd be cozy asf. Also, i do think he looks dashing.

New design rant:

Along his waist and legs there are these like thorns, yk? i think its kinda two things - jesus parallel, but also to kinda like. maybe symbolize the fact that he tried to trap everyone in ena's dream, and now hes the one trapped, kinda? also, maybe its because its like. a new cage, so to speak, cuz like wherever hes going is still not going to be enough - the night is still to short, after all- he is decked out in blues and whites and yellows and purples - white is typically associated with purity and priests, which make sense, but something about white also tends to symbolize youthfulness and naive/naivety and if i was designing a character like sunday, i would put him in so much white too so...yellow is like. most associated with like. happiness and hope, but also caution and im not going to say too much but i do hope if they are doing color symbolizism its the like. hope angle b/c i dont want to go thru another wanderer patch monent - blues can be either like. calm and reassurances but it can also be depression so. yk. - purples r like. spirituality which makes sense- also their the color of the nonbinary pride flag so im gonna die happy- also, note the like. chord (the lil like bars i think) design around his neck, which is kinda a call back to robin and yes i am going to be crying of this for DAYS.- also his pose 1 .) HPLY FUCK HIS WAIST??? 😋 DUCKING YUMMY sorry 2.) hes like reaching up to the fether but hes still unsure and hes still hesitant about like a lot of it and i wonder if he isnt like. super hesitant about like. what his path will take him on b/c like. his "path" was severed by the trailblazer, his ideals and hopes where kinda like a convo like "yes we uunderstand you want to protect the weak, but your equality isnt fair and jt isnt good to force onto others" and now he needs to walk a new path and idk what other people feel when they have to go thru big life changes but thats scary!! and ur unsure of urself the whole tome!! b/c like!! its TERRIFYING and yes maybe i need to get disgnosed but ive known that for a while and maybe its me wanting toproject but i think that he can be scared too

(i would also like to mention that i am no like. analyst, so if these are wrong they wrong. i just like him)

His backstory:

Holy. Lord. I could not stop CRYING. Maybe it's because he was just a kid when stuff started happening that never should have happened, maybe it's because every star rail update has made me cry, but holy. I was a mess, yall. Just a mess.

Secondly, I think his philosophy is Interesting too: It's kind of like a mix between order and harmony and idk man i just fuck with it. Do i think he went a little extreme? Yes. FUCK YES. Do i completely understand his character? no. But do i find his entire philosophy (which side note, halfway remind me of the beatitudes (the meek shall inherit the earth, yadda yadda) conpelling? YEAH.

Also, fuck gopher wood. All my homies hate him.

Personality!!

First, because i thibk ill forget to mention it: i am a "Sunday has OCD" truther. I forget if its canon...

Do i think he goes a lil too hard with everything? yes. However, i think you can tell through his conversation with Aventurine that he needs this or else his life will fall apart.

(Secondly, i do want to make clear that i dont support his actions. I think i may come off that way. Also, i hope that if they do ever meet again, Sunday will apologize for that stuff(/gen) he did and then they can kiss about it(/j)

I also just like his personality, i donr have the words to explain it.

HEADCANON TIME

Eyes: I think he has a fuck ton of them, and they can kinda partially see but its all like shadowy. I think he also literally had eyes in the back of his head.

Wings: I studided birds for him. I think that he does also gave waist wings.

I know the April Fools episodes are jokes but it's kinda funny to analyze them Earth's nightmare seemed to be her fearing that she's a terrible person that everyone hates, dislikes, or avoids, her forgetting everything again, people not telling her things or keeping secrets from or about her, feeling powerless even to herself, losing Lunar(except for that last bit), being generally confused... And then Sun's, Sun's was all their enemies apologizing for everything they did, fixing whatever they screwed up, and disappearing, or in the case of the Creator dealing with Fazbear since Sun hates that company, and then Moon leaving after being weirded out, even Sun pointed out the sheer absurdity early on, maybe all of these incidents affect him subconsciously even more than he realizes, poor guy just wants some catharsis Earth and Sun telling one another about their weird dreams after the fact is something I could see happening too

ANON WE THINK THE SAME I WAS GONNA START THINKING TOO DEEP but I felt soo stupid but AA IM NOT ALONE!! for Earth- I guess is a mix of feeling guilty she "failed" Lunar- and fears she may be too focus on her family life she may not pay attention to Monty- also something about fearing you "did a terrible thing" and just feeling gaslited even when you know you didnt hits home.. her fear of maybe "being forgetfull and controled" may be the most obvious, yet is still interesting.. as.. for me, she gives me "hero complex" at times, thinking she is meant to be the one fixing ppl (even when I see ppl saying she never asked for this role) maybe because when made, she was mentioned as "the better version" so she goes by that.. ending up feeling both fake, try hard, yet afraid to fail and emotionally stressed out trying to be what ppl expected of her. so then- we see her fears, being seen as a bother, seen as someone to deal with rather than work with.. also, maybe is me, but she does kinda takes too hard her "brother" not wanting her in his date/celebration.. also going on over Solar "hating her" when the dude seems to be neutral with her.. that got me feeling odd, she takes simple soft push as "you hate me" .. no? they dont want you there, yet they still care to ask if you are ok.. what is she on about? (I know, is a nightmare, she is not meant to make much sense, specially as the emotional one she is.. I cant blame her too hard ) NOW SUN~ OHOHOHOHOHHHHHHH oh HE HE DOES SHOW SOO MUCH~ isnt it.. curious? of all the jokes they can make.. is ppl saying sorry ! what they show us? again, I expected actors or bloopers like other channel did! but.. now.. isnt it curous, right after he tells Eclipse to kill himself, he dreams of him saying sorry, sure, is clear Eclipse is not happy nor all sappy. not even wanting to be there with them any longer than BM did.. not saying "I hope im welcome back"-- nothing! Eclipse showed up, say his words, and choose to walk away, Sun is clearly weird out .. yet- clearly hoping to see the lie,, he doesnt, Eclipse lose more than he wins.. so Sun is left to wonder- was it true? he means it? we know Sun feared him. then hated him- has every reason to- yeeeet.. Sun has to know.. he is mad at the shell of how was a enemy. maybe having Eclipse saying sorry is the thing he needs to let go of this anger , just like Lunar did Lunar faced the big bad wolf- only to see a mere AI, broken and lost, lying to itself hoping to gain some sense of control over a life he cant even run away from.. Sun maybe needed to tell itself, via Moon "thats not the man that hurted you, thats the ghost of the past.. let it go" Moon is that side of him telling him to let go, and when things got too wild, his "reason" just had to leave- I feel thats when Sun stayed to yell, feeling too much stress confusion and cringe even (I have more to say but may do a post later on. idk) last joke video was not canon at all, yet this one is clearly tied to canon.. soo.. this has to mean something!! IM NOT LOOKING TOO DEEP YOU ARE ANON!

I hope my ramble isnt too long! but yea. I may explin myself better later on. just- I feel the fact this is DREAM and not an AU means a lot..

i keep remembering a doctor who fic i was gonna write a few months ago but idk if ill ever actually get around to it so im just gonna talk about it real quick

the conception came from me thinking about 10s run, as usual. 10 is kinda the best doctor and thats not even a secret, but im biased for... a few reasons lol

but i was thinking about the end of his run, after he no longer had any of his constant companions. especially the mars episode. i was thinking about him playing god, and how much i loved it. but it didnt get to last long. and i know it would never last long, because its doctor who.

doctor who being this episodic long-running show is a blessing and a curse. and them insisting that the doctor always be good and smart and stuff is also a blessing and a curse.

but anyway, i wanted to lean into the playing god thing.

and funny enough, around this time, i had a dream that had the doctor in it, and the dream was coherent enough to transform it into the plot of the first 'episode' (chapter) of the fic.

i wanted to make the fic limited, as in, it was only going to have 10 or less chapters. each chapter was basically going to be an episode, seemingly contained, but obviously with an overall plot going on that maybe wasnt so obvious at first.

the first chapter is set at a birthday party. why the doctor is there i dont actually remember because i did not write it down in my notes, but the point is that the doctor is there. btw in this the doctor is a woman because its my fanfic and thats obviously a thing that can happen in canon. the doctor like JUST regenerated btw.

at this party, something is off. the birthday girl, by the way theyre all adults here he isnt just at some random kids party, is acting weird, at least, according to everyone else at the party. they all keep saying something is weird with her, but no one does anything about it. after the doctor has done some poking around, the birthday girls mom comes up to her and accuses her of having something to do with why her daughter isnt right, since the doctor is being just as suspicious in this womans eyes

the mom is so stressed, however, that she has to leave, so she isnt there long lol

anyway the doctor figures out that the girl was replaced with a changeling type thing, and when the real girl is found again, shes like 'wtf why is the only person who bothered to find me this absolute stranger?' so when she finds out that the doctor is someone who can travel anywhere anytime, she runs off with her.

outwardly, this girl is very chill and seemingly happy and silly. but over the course of the fic, where episode after episode they run into these situations where the bad guys have a point (but are going about it all wrong,) it shows how much she was hiding within, and how much she was full of resentment and was ready to be cruel because the world had been cruel to her.

in her final chapter, she gets the chance to play god of sorts. an alien possesses her because its drawn to her emotions because honestly its doctor who and shit like that just happens, and it gives her powers that let her take her feelings out on others while the alien saps her of her life like a parasite. she uses this power to trap the doctor, because the doctor is the only one around and has been a voice of reason opposed to her irrational (but understandable) feelings, and shes sick of it, sick of everything.

the doctor has to fight her own companion, and save her at the same time, and save herself from the weird nightmare-ish place that this all takes place in.

because of the whole, yknow, life force sucking thing, the companion is completely exhausted and needs to rest after. these two, if they were sane and normal, would talk about what happened and maybe talk out whats wrong, but they... dont.

the doctor simply says that she will take this character anywhere, anywhere she wants at all, said in a way that says 'lets try going somewhere nice and relaxing and hope it works. i hope it can help you'

the companion, however, simply says she wants to go home. she doesnt say it, but she thinks its time she stops running away from what hurt her, and probably go just get therapy. the doctor does not deny her, and takes her home.

as shes exiting the tardis for the last time, the both of them say sorry to eachother in that sortve rushed simultanenous thing. yknow what?im just gonna exact quote from my notes

"“ill take you anywhere you want, anywhere at all.” the doctor said.

“home. i think its time i finally just... go home.” the companion replied, barely above a whisper.

“of course.”

(time skip to when theyre back at her home)

“im sorry-” they both said simultaneously, looking at eachother for the final time.

“you deserve better.” the doctor entered the TARDIS, and began to close the door behind her. But it didnt close all the way.

The companions hand was holding it open just a crack as she said “you do too.” and let it go. (the fucked up part is that the doctor does try to have better… by playing god.)"

(dont mind the scattered capitalization and stuff, again this is just notes and not a written fic)

so yeah after this the doctor is fucked up, of course, and a mixture of what just happened, and all the stuff that happened before with meeting people who had good points but were going about it all wrong, and honestly just the doctors entire fucked up existence, she kiiinda breaks a little, just for now.

the next place she goes, she goes alone. i actually did not write any notes about this part somehow lol. the point is wherever she ends up, she ends up playing god, taking out her suffering on the poor mfs that she ended up with, but still similar to the mars water episode where she was doing what she thought would be a good thing even though it debatably wasnt, again i didnt write down any details about this part so its up in the air

probably the most controversial part of the fic because i know its a trope that people seem to hate, but i wanted it to end with the doctor becoming human. i personally think the 'powerful character becomes something else less powerful at the end for whatever reasons' trope walks a fine line and can be done wrong and can be kinda annoying but idk i mean

the doctor loves humanity. this is canon. the doctor cant seem to get enough of humanity. the doctor has been through so much, has gone everywhere and seen everything, and has loved so much and lost so much. but the doctor always loved humans.

and after a life like that, and after everything that happened, its basically like retirement lol. living this long, exciting life, and settling down somewhere you always wanted to be, and getting to live the rest of your days in peace (well, as peaceful as the next like 50 or so years of being human could be. 50 or so because the doctor is usually played by someone in their 30s yknow how it is)

and yeah idk lol i thought it would be fun. also all the places theyd go would be in the future and alien planets and stuff because its sci fi and im not a history person very much, especially not someone who wants to try to write historical stuff and then get it horribly wrong because all i did was read the wiki page or something LOL plus i could be way more creative coming up with stuff that doesnt actually exist and didnt happen yknow

so thats the fic idea i had that i probably maybe wont write but i still wish i could, i just keep... not writing or drawing anything lately (which SUCKS btw) and i figured if i get around to anything it probably wont be this sadly

so like, dororos family is super rich. thats literally why he n keroro became friends in the first place, bc they went to the same Military Prep Elementary School and one time keroro went to dororos house and saw that his family was LOADED and that he had all the COOL toys so he immediately went WERE FRIENDS RIGHT? so he could hang out w dororo to play w the cool toys. and dororo had had very few friends in his life before that so he went Yeah of course! and then spent his entire childhood doing pretty much whatever keroro asked so they would stay friends. but anyway, i don’t think his family being rich counts for anything at present, since he’s on earth, and i dont know if he like… has. any money. that is viable on earth. he must get some money somehow since he & koyuki like, have a house and are alive? but she doesn’t seem to have like, a job or anything, and i doubt he steals from the invasion budget so like. i dont know where the money comes from and there can’t be very much of it.

ALSO I OOVE THAT THE BLORBO BLINGUS ASK GAME LETS ME THINK ABT CHARACTERS PLAYING MINECRAFT. I know dororo canonically knows how to use a computer bc i just rewatched the episode where the platoon tries to make their own anime today and he uses a computer to do the coloring digitally but like. Dororo does not know how to use a computer. He first learned about stuff on earth from koyuki who spent half her life in a completely isolated village and only got out after she met him and he hasn’t branched out much since. I don’t know if we ever see him play video games or anything like that. I don’t think he would know how to do that. I think the tiny crappy radio he & koyuki have is the most technology hes comfortable with. “i don’t really like using these computers they freak me out” “Dororo you’re from a society with technology way more advanced than this. which you use.” “yeah well this is different”

Anyhow point is i want to see the keroro platoon play minecraft. Dororo keeps trying to build peaceful little houses with nice farms and they keep getting accidentally blown up or burnt down by everyone else. Tamama is in the caves trying to befriend slimes and when he finds out he can’t he just starts killing them en mass. Everyone goes to check out what Kururu is doing and he’s made one of those fully functional redstone computers, for fun.

ALSO ID ALWAYS CALLED DORORO KOYUKIS DAD BUT I NEVER REALLY REALIZED WOW HE LEGIT DOES ACT LIKE IT HUH. hi welcome home how do you like your new school :) its so sweet… i bet he has like 3 backup plans for attempting to homeschool her if anything happens that keeps her from going to public school. i bet they make lunches together. god, this is sweet, but also really funny to imagine, because he is less than 2 feet tall, and round. i watched an episode today that starts w koyuki coming home and dororo is just on the ground loudly sobbing and shes like oh did you fight with your friends again? and then thinking about friends makes her flashback to her childhood best friend & when she met dororo So Hard that she just falls asleep. while hes still there on the floor loudly crying about how he wonders if keroro even considers him a friend. theyre so funny

notes on minecraft, the flow of time, version updates, and the hypothetical meaning of time travel in a world that operates on both of those prior concepts. at once??? also dives into alternate realities later on :)

mentions of hermitcraft and dream smp, but theyre not the main focus, only examples. the main focus is the concept, and it applies to minecraft as a whole.

the minecraft universe operates on three forms of keeping time:

1. server/world-specific time. these are the day-night cycles that everyone is familiar with!

2. version updates. they happen in a particular order and each one has different things available within them, so it's useful to keep track of them. The further back an update is, the further "sideways in time" the traveller goes.

3) the Main Timeline. the primary flow of time. this is "real time," this is "ten minutes in one minecraft day," this is "a few years between updates," this is "I've been working on it for a few hours now." if there is a true hub world, this is the time it follows. it receives updates at the "canon" points in the timeline and is the marker for how much time actually passes between them.

(but the thing is, some worlds stay in one specific update. for a long time. possibly forever. These worlds have shifted sideways in the flow of time, compared to the Main TL. It could almost become something like a pocket-universe, if the admin of the place isn't careful about maintaining ties to a world with a more stable timeline. more on this later)

this is where the idea of time travel within minecraft becomes a little confusing. a hypothetical time traveller could:

a) travel back through the server-specific time. (ex Grian and his first few hops through time on Hermitcraft s6)

b) travel through different updates/versions. also called: version hopping! This is probably better described as jumping sideways through time. Basically, you haven't changed where you are in the future/past sense, but you have jumped to a different version of the world you're in, just a little ways to the left. (ex what the Watchers do in Evo. Isn't this what Grian does w/ Ren and Impulse, too? No. We're... getting there.)

c) travel through the Main TL. this is like the last two but more, I guess you could say???? It is both at once, and its effects are a lot more drastic. (ex what Grian does w/ Ren and Impulse in s6 of Hermitcraft. You can tell because they spot Herobrine in the distance. Thing is, Herobrine is a player and no matter where you think he's ended up, he has ended up somewhere. Herobrine does not concern himself with jumping to a version a little to the left just so he can scare people like he used to. No, the Herobrine that showed up during the hippie trio's escapades was Herobrine in his prime. In his home time. Grian, Ren, and Impulse had jumped not only to a new world, not only sideways into a different version, but also backwards. and not only backwards in their server's time, but backwards in every server's time as well. they were very, very close to going through time at a... very dangerous angle.)

...now you DSMP fans are probably gonna wanna ask me about Karl. Karl is not a time traveller. What Karl does is called reality hopping :) it can look a lot like time travel, yes, but really what he's doing is jumping through the timeline at an angle that really should not be possible. The places Karl ends up are worlds that got stuck in one version a long time ago. By the time the admin allowed the update to occur, their world was already too far branched from the Main TL and could never be reconnected to the proper flow of things. They have strayed so unbelievably far that a pocket-universe constructs itself around it, capable even of maintaining multiple servers and spawning in new players. Capable of even spawning players that already exist in the Main TL. They spawn alongside their "true" selves, at the "true" points in time they should have spawned in, just in a complete other reality.

Thats why these worlds can sometimes have beings in them that look like a traveller's friends. That look like the traveller. This kind of travel between realities needs an anchor point from one world to another, and this anchor will often be your thoughts of the people you know, or thoughts of yourself. So, the traveller will likely end up in a reality where an alternate version of people they know, or themselves, have spawned.

The Hels dimension is an anomaly of this type. A long, long time ago, a single world was generated on "World Type: Hell." It was a world type that did not continue to exist through versions, so it ended up becoming its own pocket dimension. And it became a big one. It became capable of maintaining unprecedented numbers of servers at once; of spawning alternate versions of players very early on, and spawning a lot of them. This Hell world became so far-set from the Main TL, so beyond connection to anything outside of it, so unbelievably corrupted and beyond salvation, that eventually, as all things so massive, that burn so bright do, it began to crumble in on itself.

The residents of this world are battered and hard. They won't give up life so easily. Even if it means finding other realities, inhabited by alternate versions of themselves, and taking them by force.

So no, what Karl does is not time travel, but it is dangerous in its own right.

ok i’m actually gonna put this under a cut because the angstiest idea i’ve ever come up with is (only slightly) fucked up and most definitely a trigger warning. it’s in one of the 32 alternate universes i’ve come up with in my head, and differs from canon but only slightly. some backgroud: in this au (it’s birdflash bc of course it is) wally and dick weren’t together, but they were best friends like they always are. then wally goes and sacrifices himself to save the universe, but, his flash ring, the one his costume is stored in, doesn’t get sucked into and lost in the speedforce like wally did, because it has speedforce energy inside it and therefore gets left behind. (i am very aware thats not how the speedforce works. i do not care.) barry decided to give the ring to dick.

ok so dick’s in possession of the ring. but he’s also falling apart. dick’s best friend just died, and he only realized after wally’s death that he was in love him. (or for all you other shippers out there, i guess you could pretend they’re best friends. in canon, the two of them are so close that this hc works anyway). 

he’s burning himself up: working as much as possible, drinking energy drinks and coffee to keep himself up, pushing his body to its very limits and therefore getting himself hurt. on the worst nights, to keep himself from falling asleep, he’ll shock himself with his escrima sticks, party because it keeps him awake, partly because it feels like those rare times wally forgot about his powers and zapped dick on accident. he can’t go to sleep, because every time he closes his eyes, he dreams. and they’re happy dreams. him and wally pranking the justice league, getting ice cream and eating it on the roof of a building, forming the titans, every other memory dick never cherished enough. and then dick had to wake up, and face the fact that wally was gone all over again.

time passes, and eventually, it’s wally’s birthday. the first one dick hasn’t celebrated with him ever since they met. barry and iris had seemingly bought every bouquet and every snack food at the local grocer, and wally’s grave looked beautiful. dick couldn’t bring himself to leave anything, or stay longer than a couple minutes. 

he comes back home, and he’s falling apart at the seams, gripping the ring so hard it leaves an impression in his skin, and that pain is the only thing keeping him alert. but, while he’s walking back to his bludhaven apartment, he bumps into a passerby, and drops the ring. he lets out a cry, and drops to the ground frantically, searching for the ring. but everyone’s walking so fast, and the ground is so dirty, and soon enough it’s lost. taking a deep shuddering breath, he sits against the building, taking deep gasping breaths. he lost the ring. he lost the ring. he can’t even begin to fathom how that’s going to break him, how much he’s come to rely on that stupid piece of metal.

then, suddenly, a little girl comes up to him and asks, “excuse me? sir? is this yours?” she’s holding out the ring, and she’s young enough that the smile on her face seems real. dick grabs the ring like a man possessed, and mumbles out thank you after thank you after thank you. after gaining a little bit of stability, he makes his way back to his apartment, sliding the ring on his finger.

he’s in the bathroom, hands gripping the edge of the sink, staring at himself in the mirror. he’s running on fumes, can barely think straight, and he almost lost the ring. that can’t happen again. he cannot let that happen again.

and so, with a deep, shuddering breath, he grabs a spare batarang lying on the counter, and takes out the first aid kit in the bathroom. he grips the batarang, steels himself, and looking at his reflection, cuts a wound into the flesh of his lower neck. it’s clean, going through mainly fat and a little bit of muscle, so there’s no chance of bleeding out. not if he does this correctly. then, he grabs the ring, and shoves it in the wound. it hurts, it hurts more than anything else he’s ever experienced, but it also brings him a sick sort of satisfaction, so he blinks through the pain, just like bruce taught him, letting the barest of shock and adrenaline numb the pain, until the wound is somewhat mangled and the ring is inside. dick grabs the first aid kit, and stitches up the wound with shaking hands. then, he pops a couple painkillers and passes out.

whenever any of the other bats ask, he says a thug got a little too lucky. over time, it scars over, but given that there’s a piece of metal shoved in his flesh, it never fully heals. the wound still throbs, still hurts, and dick smiles though shaky tears, because it means the ring is still there.

The supernatural thing bugs the hell out of me. Like, they’re really going to give in to a decade of shipping and finally make it canon and then immediately send the guy who just professed his gay love to Ultra Mega Hell while the guy he confessed his love to can barely refrain from calling him a slur? Nobody wanted that.

i have seen a lot of posts similar to this, and while i see the point i honestly didn’t read the scene as that way.

dean is really bad at showing emotions. he just realized everyone is going to die, he had sam at gun point earlier in the episode, like a lot was going on. as a viewer it did feel kind of out of the blue in the moment, but since that whole ‘cas true happiness’ bit got introduced i had a pipe dream it would be this. so here we are, literal death is about to breakdown the door and kill them, and cas does his confession. and honestly i think dean reacted like dean would? like if youre ‘straight’ dean who has difficulty showing emotions and your best friend of 11 years just suddenly confesses he loves you its gonna take a second to process. he was confused, this was sudden, he had no time to react, and then cas is just gone. and i think the part thats really telling is afterwards when he just fucking breaks. theres not a lot of times we see dean break. so idk how dean feels tbh, and maybe its the fact that i’ve been here for ten fucking years of my life but i think that was the break of someone who realized fuck my best friend is in love with me i thought i was straight but fuck maybe i love him too but now hes gone.

now on to sending gays to hell. again without context thats what it looks like but like this was cas’s moment of true happiness. god himself and plenty of other divine people have even made talked about how cas is in love with dean. like besides the occasional snide comment and bad joke from 2010, the show has never indicated that gay people go to hell (i actually feel like theyve said the opposite but im not looking for quotes rn). and dean, if he was homophobic, hasnt shown it in years. literally the episode before hes talking with charlie about her girlfriend. dean has grown a lot as a person. so again i think his reaction was purely just the shock of the situation.

now the kills your gays situation is a dick move. and im pissed about it. but also like they told us cas was gonna die after his moment of true happiness, and thats what happened, so it wasnt exactly a surprise in that sense. but i will form a proper opinion when the show is over cause stupid me still has hope. eileen is also supposedly super gone, destroyed by god, but i cant see them ending the show with just sam and dean (and possibly jack? Idk) alone. like that has zero growth in it. they wanted their whole lives to be out of this shit and for it to be over and all the reasons they wanted to be out of it to be gone like thats an awful ending. i guess i wouldnt put it past them but like again stupid me with the hope.

i am also not sure about jensen’s feeling about the situation, because he has not been very positive in the past and idk his opinion about things so that might have played a role, but he played the breakdown really well and very dean in my opinion and misha’s performance was great.

obviously, i could be wrong. i could be reading into it and putting too much faith in actual good storytelling. i’m also aware of the connations of everything you said, with the kill your gays and the hell and deans reaction, without context. and yes i think it could have been done better. i think a lot of the jokes are being made out of context, and they might be warranted, but again stupid me with the hope that the way that i read the scene before i checked tumblr was real.

anyway, people are having fun. yes the ship was bad and was a lot of queerbaiting and a lot of fetishization from a lot of people. but it was also important to a lot of queer people like me. supernatural is still important to a lot of queer people like me. its a found family show. people are just having fun, and outside-supernatural-tumblr got involved for better or worse. and the whole world situation is happening at the same time.

edit: this is not to discredit the queer fans of the show who are mad. they have every right to be mad. and this is not to forgive the writers for what they have done. they have been awful about this for years. this is just my opinion as a fan of the show. for me, it was exciting and i couldnt believe what had just happened. as a fan of this show for nearly ten years and fan of this ship since the beginning, i just didnt see it in the negative way a lot of people did.

Dabi's Decision (Warning spoilers!)

To start off again, spoilers for bnha so don't read if you don't wanna be spoiled for future anime/manga stuff

Oml I'm literally CRYING over this Dabi reveal rewrite I was thinking about recently

The Shoto Family Crisis is something that really hits home for me as I have personaly experience dealing with those type of people (cough cough ENDEAVOR COUGH)

But first I gotta talk about whats actually happening before my idea

But as much respect as I had for Dabi as a villain character and even for the first few moments as Todoroki's brother, from what I have seen from a translation of the reveal here on tumblr I was really disappointed. Like yes It could just have been the translation since i haven't seen all of the offical thing, but I getthe feeling thats not the case.

All that respect for Dabi goes away when he made his argument. He basically said "Dad was mean to me so I killed off a bunch of random innocent people who have done me no wrong for no good reason but LOOK *points at endeavor* he drove me to this. He made me do it."

Like somebody near him is gonna comedically slap him and say "Bad endeavor! >:cc"

This isn't to downplay Touya's trauma, it was real and probably the harshest since he was the first experiment and also considered the first failure. He ended up so ghosted that his own family thought he was dead.

But when he hurts other innocent people for his own goals JUST like his father did, not only is he ending up just like him, he is playing right into his hands. Endeavor wants someone to surpass him, someone to pass down his legacy of strength and ruthlessness, however it happens. Actually its quite the norm for toxic people to try and pass on their behaviors, try to clone themselves on the next generation.

Even with endeavors supposed redemption arc, the effects his decisions have on the past don't change, as this event was supposed to help solidify.

Honestly its the worst way to get back at Endeavour and you just end up being just like the abuser. Why is it such a common trope that "if I was abused by someone, Let me go do the same thing to someone else who literally has never tried to hurt me in my life?" Notice how they never target the abuser, they just seek to abuse someone else, thus continuing the cycle. The stupidest part of Touya's argument is that he is trying to make it seem like its endeavor who made him choose these actions.

But thats the thing. It was STILL Touya's choice to make. And yeah it sucks, often times an abuser will use this fact to their advantage, but when it comes down to it, Touya made the choice to do wrong. It's not like endeavor said "Yo kill these 5 people with your fire power to prove your worth or I burn your skull yeah?"

He made the choice to hurt multiple people who had hope and a future like he once did.

He made a choice that led to him becomong the next abuser, and becoming as delusional as the person who abused him.

But lets say things go different from how its currently going down in the Manga. Here'ss my idea: where it takes place I could care less but lets use the same place the canon did, the theater

But imagine Dabi reveals himself to Endeavor, the crowd and Todoroki and reveals who he is, Touya. He then goes on to revealing Endeavors little experiment and how he used all his family just to live out his dream of surpassing the symbol of peace and having someone stronger than him so he could live vicariously through him.

Dabi goes on to explain as he was considered "a failure" he was cast aside and ghosted, and left distant from his other siblings Endeavour didn't want to be effected by Touya the failure.

Dabi explains how he knew no-one would listen or care about some kids who were being used and no-one would dare challenge or try to smear the reputation of the second greatest hero, so Endeavor was basically untouchable. So Dabi devised a plan

Dabi explains that by becoming a villain, he was able to train unhindered by rules and regulations that hold heroes back and the keep them from exercising their power to the fullest. He explains how he only used his flames to burn those deserving (actual crooks, slavers, other abusers maybe, looking at you overhaul) and how by having less concern for his own well being he could push past his limits.

Even though his Flesh itself burned his power grew until now it was something that could rival/surpass allmight's. Dabi then displays immense amount of power for the world to see, nearly burning up an entire mountain or something to ash. And he eas able to do this all with just 1 quirk. FIRE. For a failure he managed to do the one thing Endeavor always wanted. Be stronger than Almight, and he did it with just.FIRE.

He mocks endeavor. Look at you. Always wanted to ve number 1 but never could. Even now you are stuck in second place in your own heart. But Look now, your failure has achieved your dream. Maybe if you had shown the world the villain you showed your family you could have been number one.

"Look! Gaze upon your Son! See as the Fire chars my very Flesh!?This is it! THIS IS WHAT YOU ALWAYS WANTED! GAZE UPON THE WORLDS NUMBER 1!"

now that in itself is a heartbreaker and would be were maybe another fic writer would stop, but oh no, ya'll still got tears to cry so get ready

Todoroki is in shock now the only words he can make out is "Touya..."

And thats when Touya turns his attention to Todoroki "ahh...my dear Todoroki."

Touya then goes on to explain how this plan he devised was not for himself, but rather, for Todoroki and the rest of his family. He wanted the world to see endeavor for who he was and what he is, so that hopefully, his siblings could have a better future.

Touya goes on about how proud he is of Todoroki for showing how strong he was and that even though he came from people constantly making wrong decisions, he could make a right decision. Even going so far as to reject his own flames at one point.

Touya then goes into a heartfelt speech, and Tells Todoroki

"Listen. I could never tell you to join me or go down the road I took. I would never do that. The Path I took was to build the bridge to Your better tomorrow. I want you to be the best hero you can be."

"I don't want you to be the next symbol of peace or the next Allmight. I want you to live for yourself, be what you WANT to be. Because even though he may have robbed me of my future, your future is something he can never have. "

Heartbeat Scenario

It was a tale as old of time. A tale of forbidden love.

Once upon a time, there lived a boy who worked as the palace gardener named Jamari with hair and eyes as dark as the night sky. A talented young boy who must suppress his talents for a servant should never be better than the royal family they served. He couldn't protest or raise his voice. Which was why when a foreign prince came to court the princess, he didn't say a word to object.

Even knowing she was engaged, it didn't stop Gardener Boy Jamari to visit his best friend, the princess herself. He would climb the tree next to her bedroom window when it was open and the princess was seen doing her paperwork. They would exchange small talks and listen to her sing a small melody. These were the special moments where Jamari could be free to express himself through whispers and he loved every moment with her.

It didn't take long for him to find out about the unfair abuse the princess must suffer because of his daring acts. He would see the bastard prince glared at him through the closed window. It was a silent declaration from Jamari: "You dare to hurt her. I'll make you regret it."

Even with her engagement, it didn't stop Princess Aira from hanging out with her best friend, the sweet gardener boy. She would come by the rose garden with a book in hand to chat with the boy while he was working, exchanging small talks and giggling from his jokes. These were the rare moments where Aira could come out from her shell and she loved every moment with him.

It didn't last forever for Prince Tobias soon knew about her meetings with the gardener boy. He didn't take it well and would slap her for being disloyal. Aira could only cry as he ordered, "Don't you dare meet that lowly peasant again!"

That night was a magical night for both of them.

When Princess Aira woke up from her light sleep, the wind blew into her room, the curtain danced along with the breeze. And crouching on the windowsill with the bright yellow moon shining behind him was Jamari.

"Just take my hand. I promise I'll protect you and never leave your side."

Thus, when Prince Tobias came to check on her, Aira was nowhere to be seen. The pair ran off into the night, laughing at their newfound freedom, never to be seen again.

"Wait!"

"E-Eh?!" The pink-haired girl's eyes were widened, almost terrified as her eyes glanced to her wrist that was being held by Jamil. "C-Can I help you?"

Jamil wanted to smack himself of how out of character he was acting. What was he thinking, going up to the Diasomnia girl who he had never spoken to before, only noticing her during their first year sorting ceremony?

Jamil gulped. "Sorry." He slowly took off the hand which she pulled her hand almost immediately, caressing her wrist close to her chest. "I think I have mistaken you as someone else."

"O-Oh." She ducked her head, blush dusted his cheeks. She stole glances at him, didn't know how to act. "S-Sorry."

"It's alright. We should start over." He stretched out his hand. "My name is Jamil."

The girl hesitated at first but she slowly reached for him. "I'm Aiennor." Her smile was gentle, her blush was adorable, and her cherry blossom hair brought something that made his heart beat faster for a foreign nostalgic feel.

"Hey, Aiennor. Did you know?"

"What?"

"I think we're fated to be together."

"What the heck, Toby!" Aiennor giggled. Her boyfriend Toby always says nonsense stuff like this, but Aiennor would always fell to his charm over and over again. They had been dating for a few weeks now, maybe almost a month, and the giddy feeling was still there for Aiennor.

The student in front of them turned toward him, glaring at the pair. "Can you be quiet for a moment?" he hissed, "Some of us here is trying to study."

"Oops~" Toby sheepishly scratched the back of his head. "Sorry, Jamil." Aiennor meanwhile closed her mouth, ducking her red face because of embarrassment.

Jamil's eyes lingered at her a bit longer before he rolled his eyes and turned back to Mr. Trein. Aiennor felt quite bad really, especially when Jamil was the one who complained. That boy had been nothing but nice toward her.

Jamil always felt that the world had been conspiring to make his life worst.

It wasn't enough that he came from a family or servant, but he also had these cryptic dreams. Of a crying princess with cherry blossom hair, reaching for his hand. He never really took her hand for he didn't understand their meaning.

That was until Aiennor came and the princess' face became clearer. He had heard about soulmates whose soul kept being reincarnated but he never thought that it would happen to him as well.

Aiennor always felt that the world had been pushing her to a revelation.

She still questioning whether it was a great decision for her to study in Night Raven College or if she would fit in Diasomnia. During those times of doubt, she would dream. Of a gentle farm boy with night sky eyes, offering her a hand. She never really to his hand for she didn't understand their meaning.

That was until Jamil came and the farm boy's face became clearer. The tale of soulmates whose soul reincarnate is true, and she's one of the lucky soul. Is this a blessing or a curse?

Jamil knew that Toby was the same bastard prince that abused the princess in his dreams. He knew his agenda of manipulating Aiennor to be his bitch. Oh, he wouldn't let him get off like that.

That bastard just laughed. "Hey, she was the one that was dumb enough to believe me!"

It hurt Jamil when Aiennor came in Toby's defense. She trembling when facing him. "D-Don't hit him! G-Go away, you jerk!"

Aiennor once again fell for the sweet talks of her boyfriends after his confrontation with Jamil. "Great Seven, are you okay?"

Toby smiled gently at her. "Yeah... You're so brave!" She went to a blushing mess and her heart fluttered. But something about Jamil's sad looks made her feel guilty.

It was only a few days later when she accidentally overheard Toby's talks to his friends. "I bet if I told her I loved her, she'd be like 'me too'!" He cackled. "That stupid bitch."

She ran away, crying. She had never felt so stupid in her entire life. Didn't this happen before in her dream/memories of her previous life? How could she fell to the same trick? Why did she accept that jerk proposal?

That day was a heartwarming afternoon for both of them.

Aiennor crashed into Jamil's chest but quickly recovered and stepped back. She kept sobbing. "You knew all along, didn't you? I'm sorry for calling you a jerk..."

But Jamil had already forgiven her. Thus, he stretched out his hand. "I told you I'd always protect you, didn't I?"

Aiennor let out a tearful, but happy chuckle. "What the heck?"

This time, their hand met.

things ive already established r on this post

besties this got so fucking long but heres a giant ramble about cherri

okay so. there are huge differences betwn cherri as a hyperviolent drac hunter and cherri as a friend of the four and cherri as the girls mentor. with the first one he was 17 and desperate to distance himself from his upbringing so he went all in on Being A Killjoy. he was always one of the first ppl to rush into a fight and he fought hard. he blew up his fuckin hand with that attitude. and all the while he was just racking up more unaddressed trauma and eventually he ran away from that, too. giving himself radiation poisoning was more appealing than facing his problems.

so as a teenager/young adult hes kind of constantly in a panicked state. hes scared the people from his past are going to find him and drag him back with them. so he lashes out and he runs away over and over again.

i said in another post that he has some past life shit goin on which usually would give him a connection to the witch that manifests early in life, but with all the stuff hes gone through he has been Preoccupied. he can become oblivious to almost anything that doesnt apply to whatever hes focused on. not in a hyperfocus way its likeeeeee. when u live on survival mode during prolonged periods of stress. hes immune to magic bullshit bc hes too tired and scared.

anyways around his mid-20s he finally has a little more stability (as much as the average person living in the zones can have, that is) and he finally notices that Weird Stuff happens around him. basically: out of my list of Powers People Connected To The Witch Have he has the prophetic dreams/enhanced intuition as well as a form of sensing ghosts where he can see auras and kind of like, echoes of past events in ppls lives. that look like auras. itz complicated and not of utmost importance so im leaving it at that.

anyways thats what makes him start writing poetry. just 4 funsies he'll describe his weird experiences and embellish them to make em pretty. just as a casual hobby n all that.

he would forget fun ghoul in between the times they ran into each other but its pretty easy to be reminded of who fun ghoul is. the most insane 10 year old cherri has ever met. cherri isnt a brother figure to ghoul. hes just. his friend that happens to be more than twice his age. its whatever lmao

to cherri, ghoul is kinda like a stray animal he keeps seeing. which is hilarious. ghoul actually goes and finds him to introduce him to jet when they start running together, and cherri meets party and kobra (spark and birdie at the time) when he drives the four of them to a party. because he has a truck hell yeah. so now instead of one stray animal he has, like, a feral cat colony that he drives around occasionally. i have no real-life human relationship equivalent to them because irl if some guy that is not related to any of you and isnt even a childhood or family friend and theyre hanging out with you? they are usually not a safe person lmao. but this is my fantasy land and im too stubborn to change anyones birth years even though ghoul being born in 2004 makes everything really hard to make not creepy.

so yeah hes a casual somewhat friend of the fab four. hed probably get more and more concerned as they got famous. the beginnings of any sort of protective feelings, awww :) that sets him up for becoming the girls mentor.

OH FUCK. THE GIRL..... i think if i was in my late 20s and i heard that the gang of 13-17 year olds had adopted a 5 year old kid i would go bananas. what the fuck. it is a LONG while before cherri meets her. but he has the strongest affection for ghoul (if you could even call it that) and ghoul absolutely adores the girl and swings her around under her arms like a cat to show her off to cherri and its very endearing and the girl is sweet and funny so its easy to be around her. and (unfortunately) she is somewhat used to interacting with weird easily agitated people so she kinda gives him space. cherri isnt quite the uncle figure the fandom usually makes him (i luv uncle cherri sm but he simply cannot exist in the universe ive created, f), but hes a little similar.

and then the four had to go and pretend to die. lol.

when the girl was kidnapped, fucking everyone who knew her was ready to storm the city then and there. like regardless of how little you knew her, if you had ever met her you would fucking die for her. she is pure childish charisma and shes precious. i love the girl. so cherris immediately on board with whatever plan the four make to get her back. ive already talked abt how it fucked up the girl tho; there was no way to tell her that the four werent actually dead, she sees the building collapse and she shuts down. and cherri has to fight against his instinct to leave the radio station and never come back when he sees an eight year old girl sitting dissociated on the couch. that fucks everyone up.

i just realized i havent talked about literally anyone else at the radio station. i think cherri started lingering around the station bc it was safe and sheltered while also not being a popular spot. there are less kids there (people pass through but its not a hangout spot). he was kind of just hanging around to get away from the heat and noise and dr d took notice. because that man can see ur soul and no one knows if thats literal or not. so theyd chat a few times a day and show pony was the one 2 get him out of his shell a little and also was the first one he mentioned his poetry hobby to. im making this all up right now as im writing bc i dont know anything about LITERALLY any of the ppl associated w the radio like im not even going 2 try with chimp n newsie i do not have the willpower to tackle all that. justttt. cherri pony n D become bros and live 2gether there.

back 2 the regular timeline. the rescue mission happens in 2019. the girl lives at the station until 2023. during that time she is very much depressed and withdrawn and is only happy when the four come to visit. none of the Adults know how to help her so they just keep her safe and cared for and hope she'll open up to them.

she does not. she takes the weird cat thats been hanging around and she runs away.

cherri does not see her for three years. shes still worse for wear in the mental health department and he can see all kinds of visions of what shes been through since the last time he saw her and he fucking hates the ultra vs bc they remind him of his past. he does not want her going down that path but its obvious that she isnt crazy abt the ultraviolence thing either so thats a relief.

they have a kind of tense relationship throughout the comics. he feels like he failed her and that spirals into feeling like he failed the four for not being a good adult to them and fun ghoul for not helping enough when his commune was bombed and all kinds of shit and that irrational thinking mixed with plain old, yknow, caring about the girl, is what makes him take a bullet (laser. whatever) for her.

i was trying to figure out the timing of each of their ghost experiences, but i want both of them to talk to the witch and im just gonna make it like dreams where a whole buncha stuff happens but irl its been like seconds. so its like barely a second while the girl has her Witch Convo and cherri FINALLY gets a straight answer, yes there is weird shit going on with him having powers. he doesnt have any story-significant past lives because im lazy, hes just an old soul. like really fuckin old. the amount of latent life experience and stuff his soul/energy/whatever has picked up along the way makes him VERY noticeable to gods n stuff. he fuckin lights up all the alarms like what the FUCK is that over there. she wasnt rly able to get to him or even properly notice him while he was a kid and a young adult so shes happy to finally see him again. he has a STRONG sense of familiarity with her. they know each other on a wild ass level that he cant really comprehend.

teddy altman is the funniest character in the world because he’s LITERALLY /in/ the civil war event in a single panel with billy where they’re both like THIS IS FUCKED UP BRO! I DONT WANNA BE HERE!!!! and then he’s in the skrull invasion event where he could LITERALLY STOP THE SKRULL INVASION at ANY TIME and he’s just like ‘haha... i’m 16 bro and i kinda... don’t want to kinda busy being gay rn : / its a big time investment’ and thats also incredibly funny

what makes a ‘canon gay character’ ‘canon gay’ and what makes them textured, layered, real? the second one is so much important to me, but how can i distill ‘realness’ and give it to those canon gay characters? how can i make one half of a pair which is about one third of a set make SENSE to me. feel like the gay people i know, feel like members of my community i can relate to and respect without feeling a sense of jealousy, a sense of self-hatred, a sense of being robbed of a universal experience of ‘canon gayness’ that doesn’t and will never exist?

5. how do your loved ones (LI, found family, etc) feel about you being a merc? or if you’ve given up the life now that everything’s finished, what was their reaction?

THIS GOT LONG AS FUCK AND I APOLOGIZE!!!!!!!

So, my V is a former nomad with this whole convoluted backstory about how her clan is Raffen Shiv, darwinistic asshole bastards and she left and now they wanna gut her for betraying them essentially. So, her blood family is less concerned about her career choices and more concerned with putting a bullet in her head. 

However, her found family, initially is Jackie, Misty, Viktor, and Mama Welles. Jackie’s her partner in crime and kinda brought her into it, though she was doing similar work in the Badlands already. And honestly, a part of me thinks Jack sometimes feels some guilt over that. My V is in her early twenties, fairly young, whereas I do believe Jackie is canonically 30. So, theres definitely a part of him thats like I dragged a fetus into merc work what have i done. Which is probably why he’s a little protective of her on gigs. Misty worries about them both, so does Viktor, and Mama Welles of course. And in terms of found family later on, generally speaking, they worry about her a lot. 

Judy still sees a walking corpse, scared of when V’s luck is gonna run out. I think she also struggles a lot with the dichotomy of V to her and the V she knows exists. Because after the initial, rough start of their friendship, Judy sees V as a good person who helped her. But V is also a merc, she kills for money, lives have price tags to her which seems so opposed to the same V who helped her find Evelyn who supported Judy and grieved with her. Its a weird contrast that Judy isn’t always sure what to make of. 

Goro obviously doesn’t think much of mercs, we see this in game, he’s got kind of a judgey vibe. And as he ges closer to V, I definitely think he finds himself wishing they’d switch professions, but he knows they feel the same way towards his life. He told them he can’t be taught new tricks, so, as much as he’d like to its not really fair to push them to change when he won’t either. 

Kerry is terrified of the day she goes on a gig and doesn’t come back, I feel like he’s the kind of friend to offer financial help in hoping to coax her out of it, but she refuses it every time which drives him up a wall. Because he wants to help, V has become his closest friend (other than Johnny) and between her allowing Johnny to take over for concerts or just giving them time to talk without her and her merc work leaving her always bruised, always bloodied, always with a new wound. He feels like he’s watching his best friend slowly kill herself and no matter what he can’t help her, because she won’t let him. 

River, I don’t know much of at this point, but I feel like given his job he’s seen what night city does to people, the horrors she must be facing and the danger she’s in, and wishes she’d find something safer. From what I have seen he seems to be big on like settling down, having a normal life, and I think he’d want that for V too and doesn’t always get that it isn’t something she wants. 

Panam seems to do smuggling work mostly, like a lot of nomads (most extreme job she mentions is smuggling a corpse, not being the one to pull a trigger) so she of course worries about V’s more dangerous jobs and tbh especially with my V being a former nomad; I think Panam would also almost see V as a warning sign of what could happen to her if she continues to stray from the Aldecaldos. 

And of course, Johnny worries more than he lets on. At first maybe just cause their lives are linked in some ways, but overtime it’s more because of a genuine concern for her. As ironic as it may sound for our terrorist rockerboy, it genuinely worries him to watch how much danger she puts herself in on a regular basis.It feels like despite everything they’re trying to do, she doesn’t truly care about her own life, and at a certain point it terrifies him because he can’t help but think that eventually there will come another morning and he’ll feel like something is missing and it’ll be true, that he’ll search and search for that sense of relief of having her but it will never come because she’ll truly be gone. 

7. if offered enough money/power, would you be willing to join the corpo lifestyle? if you’re former corpo, would you go back?

Not in a billion fucking years! My V was anti-corp and anti-capitalism long before Johnny came into the picture. Because she’s a nomad, she knows what led to nomad groups, it was the corps taking and destroying land. And now, the corps go on news and talk about how evil nomads are for having the nerve not to bow down and lick the corp boots. As much as she dislikes her nomad family at this point, she still agrees with certain viewpoints that were instilled in her, one of them being the dangers of corps and capitalism. And hell, if she’s being honest, she blames corps at least somewhat for her nomad family situation. Because their initial actions that spurred nomad families traveling and the continued smear campaigns on nomads helps foster the isolation of certain nomad groups, an isolation that can give leaders within these families the unchecked power to do whatever they want with no consequences. She gets why people do become corpos, why if you’re scouted out and have a chance to live a life so many never could dream of why you’d take it. When the choices are starving or licking the boot; you do what you gotta. But, for herself, she couldn’t ever compromise her morals like that.

this is a LONG one probably, and also, yknow, because its ronan and esp because as you may have noticed he’s not exactly human in this au, there’s gonna be some discussion here of good ole ronan lynch angst-with-regards-to-his-existence-and-religion, so like, heads up there? and. discussion of like. some very sad things, but very very briefly. less discussion and more mention of them. look its ronan idk what to tell you aside from i have at least managed to avoid mentioning kavinsky for now so its not as bad as it could be anyway

(this is probably extremely rambly even for me, im so sorry. i can explain any number of things mentioned here in more detail if anyone would like) 

SO. ronan’s a cambion, at least by dnd terminology, idk how that term gets used in other contexts but the point here is he’s half-human and half-demon, BUT, v important to explain, even tho the characters don’t initially know this and it’s something they work out over time, demons are not necessarily devils; or, more accurately, there’s a category of creature that is not a fey but is somewhat fey-adjacent, follows their own very different set of rules to fey law and are reliant on ley lines in ways similar to a lot of fey beings and spaces, and that category of creatures was granted the name “demons” because that word already exists and this type of creature’s so misunderstood that people mistook them for devils. Whether the biblical demon also exists in this au i havent decided on and dont much plan to because its not super relevant 

BUT. taking inspiration from the horrible bee from canon, demons are, essentially, beings that are created due to a high degree of tragedy on a ley line, and the rules they operate by as well as their motivations are determined by the shape of that tragedy which created them. for example: the hornet demon from the books would be an example of what happens due to violence and bloodshed; it was born of blood shed in anger and life wrongly taken and as a result it exists only to destroy. however, not all demons are evil. example: take, say, a succubus (no stay with me hold on), like the one that niall lynch hooked up with made a deal with over in ireland one day. 

a succubus in this sense is a demon which is born of miscarriage; and they’re Like That because there, the tragedy is not one of destruction, but of lost potential and a life that never came to be. so a succubus is driven to make up for that lost potential in the form of, yknow, making another baby happen, 

and its that power of potential that is also why ronan’s got power over dreams still, it’s aaaall about creation and potential. and his mother, who he never actually met, she hecked off but niall kept the baby, wasn’t evil. just. operating on a different morality system but one which had no interest in hurting anybody. she’s still kicking around in ireland somewhere

RONAN meanwhile still has his two brothers, haven’t figured out yet if matthew’s still a dream thing or not, but. niall never got around to explaining how the demon thing worked before dying because it’s niall he’s terrible at explaining things. but ronan started being able to shapeshift p young--he’s got a fully human form, a fully demonic form, and a form that’s generally called hybrid but really he can shift to anywhere along the spectrum or just pop the wings or the tail out etc etc etc. his brothers both know ronan’s not human, its a family secret, its all chill, except then one day ronan shifts out the wings to help save a baby bird that fell out of a tree and someone outside the family sees that happen and from there things just get real bad and the lynches have to leave ireland in a hurry 

ronan’s demonic form actually ends up being strongly influenced by his own opinion of himself as he grows up; the church has him filled with enough doubt that he grows the horns and becomes more hulking and frightening and all that jazz, and he suspects that he would be burned or expelled from a church’s grounds if he were to shift forms on sacred ground, so he never tries it (he would not, because, as was previously stated, his mother isnt evil, but he doesnt know that) and he just. he hides it real hard. especially after niall gets himself murdered before ronan can finally just ASK about his mother

but! before that happens he meets gansey, who has a lot of interest in the fey and a theory that’s not quite right but is on the right track about demons being some poorly understood class of fey rather than something evil and that gives ronan a lot of hope for a while

yknow until he sees how much iron effs up someone who’s even got a LITTLE fey blood in them when adam gets shot and how when ronan holds that same arrowhead that put adam in so much pain it doesn’t hurt at all, rip 

he tells them that he’s a cambion well before he shows them the alt forms because there’s a point where he feels that they ought to know esp since ronan’s back to existential dread over what exactly he is, it’s kavinsky who ends up forcing him to shift in front of them for the first time, the whole kavinsky thing’s gonna DEFINITELY take at least one post all on its own a lot happens there, but for now: this is why ronan knew that pryderi wasn’t a normal deer (that and also because pryderi is a white tailed deer, which dont exist in england, so ronan was like, thats. thats not a real animal thats gotta be a fey) and also leads to some fun between him and noah because noah, unbeknownst to ronan, has decided that he and ronan are in fact engaged in a game of chicken to see who gets caught/outed for what they really are first. 

(ronan and gansey dont know what kind of fey noah is exactly. ronan assumes he’s something weak like a brownie. noah is definitely not a brownie)

last picture’s unfinished because idk why ronan’s fully demonic form is so hard for me to DRAW but he’s shaped roughly like beast from the disney movie, except as a big bird monster. also if ur someone he likes and you sleep using him as a pillow it’ll be the best sleep of your life w/ really good dreams and ronan also sleeps v well, its a thing that happens, ronan is in fact the best pillow
