trying not to talk too much abt the bear s2 but im Really fuckin frustrated that even with everyone demanding that they’re sooo media literate and sooo smart that no one has talked about claire and the way she sparks audience discomfort. like, she feels out of place within the show because CARMY cannot accept that he is getting this good thing—she feels out of place in HIS life. she’s actually crafted to be the ideal girlfriend, with glowy bokeh lighting in a grocery store and beauty shot close ups and a sweet instrumental leitmotif to show to you, an audience member, that she’s too good to be true in carmys eyes. if you’re an audience member, she raises alarm bells in YOUR head because she raises alarm bells in HIS. he literally tells us that—that’s the crux of his final monologue, that he doesn’t believe he can have the life of food and wines best chef and a life of love and human connection. he doesn’t believe he’s deserving of good things because his family has always been so fucked, because nothing he’s ever tried to hold together has held together—except for his cooking. it’s done this way on purpose, to make you feel that anxiety that he feels around this relationship, and to make you question why you feel it too

gem’s among us pov is out and That Round is actually crazy??? omg. the whole time being sus and then acting like everyone else is crazy for accusing her??? her literally chasing down jimmy and forcing him to say she’s not the impostor (he knows she is) while giggling the ENTIRE time he’s begging for his life. and then when they run into pearl she just segues back into innocent laughter and says she’s “just walking” and “this man is freaking out”. pearl gets suspicious and she pretends pearl’s being ridiculous. and then her following false and false is like “why are you following me” and she’s like “because it’s fun” before immediately killing her. and scar the other impostor shutting the door from beyond the grave and she yells “pearl!” like she’s genuinely scared and accuses impulse of shutting the door so he could kill pearl and the WHOLE TIME jimmy is actually panicking because gem literally told him she was the impostor but no one believes him??? “jimmy you would be dead if you were the impostor because you’re chatting so much” chefs kiss her turning jimmy’s founded accusations into just him talking too much to make him sound crazy. THE JIMMY KILL with her giggling while jimmy and impulse are shifting around each other is TOP tier work. she literally from scratch created the exact environment in which pearl could plausibly believe that it was impulse. grian screaming “she can’t keep getting away with this!” when pearl votes for impulse. top tier manipulator at work. this is life series level stuff. i’m shaking. brilliant. a masterpiece

Converts, please do not sell yourself short or underestimate the position that you hold within Jewish communities. Your love for Judaism, the Jewish people, and the Jewish culture is infectious and can make people realize the value of the culture they've simply grown up in. When people ask you, "Why did you want to convert?" don't take it as them really asking "Are your reasons for converting up to my standards, to which I will thereby judge whether you're worthy or not?" Most of the time, what we're really saying is, "Please tell me why you love the thing I just grew up in. Tell me why someone would choose this."

Many Jews grew up facing antisemitism in school. So it's baffling to think that someone would willingly subject themselves to this, and some of us grew up internalizing this shame and rejecting our Jewish identity in order to fit in. But you, as a convert, spark light within these people. You, as a convert, have boldly gone against the grain because you see the value in our way of life, one that is not easy. You've joined a people, many times at the expense of your friends and family, and your safety. You're something to aspire to. You rekindle the love and connection we have to our nation. If you don't already realize the value in this, you will when you notice those around you being moved by your words.

Being a convert is not a mark of shame because you're "different," it's a badge of honor. In many ways, you are lighting the torch for the next generation of Jews you come in contact with.
