finally caught up with all the anime i'm watching this season and so pleased to say that vinland saga, trigun stampede and buddy daddies are feeding me so well
#it's such a good mix of everything i want.....so happy#just finished trigun stampede ep3 and THAT ANIMATION WAS INSANE..... i got chills....he really does have millions of knives#that was such a chilling act of violence. i couldn't believe it.#also i Love how jenna describes vash as having looney tunes antics bc that's literally the Only thing i can think of every time there's a#crazy chase scene hgkshfhf#i really love the world and vibe of trigun. i want to explore more. and ofc whatever's happened between vash and nai#buddy daddies is so much fun. they're really just raising miri together. and funny observation but i love how both rei and#thorfinn from vinland saga are breaking the cycles of violence and learning to be better people hfkshfhf#like when rei saved miri from those policemen my heart clenched...... he really is her papa :') like he's trying so hard i'm so proud#and vinland is ofc amazing. i love how slow this season is going to be so we're really getting into that luscious character development#i like how there was this conversation about what it means to be a 'real' man aka killing someone but look where that got thorfinn#he is absolutely miserable and stuck in this limbo where he can't grow#this season is really going to take all that violence from s1 and turn it on its head. thorfinn is going to learn how to live again 🥹#very pleased with the winter season so far

Agatha All Along deep dive: episode 4 part 7
(Wandavision entries: [1][2][3])
(AAA entries: ep1 [1][2][3][4] ep2 [1][2][3][4] ep3 [1][2][3] ep4 [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][+1] ep5 [1])
THIS IS THE LAST EPISODE 4 ENTRY I SWEAR
agatha: why yes I'm listening politely because I'm being sociable, not because this story concerns me in any way shape or form
she did NOT want TO DO IT AGATHA. HE WAS HER SON TOO AGATHA. did you ever give her a chance to SAY any of THAT. damn rio is (metaphorically) fighting for her life here. waiting centuries to catch her wife with her guard down next to a random fire, and then reworking her LONG PLANNED SPEECH into bite sized easily digestible bits so that her emotionally stunted soulmate doesn't run away screaming
I was doing MY DAMN FUCKING JOB agatha
agatha looks away like whooops! wasn't listening! wasn't looking at you! no sir, not me!
that's right. acknowledge her feelings. show her that you understand but that you're hurting too. be mature. you're doing great. god the way she swallows and stares right ahead, so determined. this is such a crucial moment for her.
agatha: i'm stone cold. I'm a wall. this is not affecting me in the slightest. I'm bored, really.
lilia not missing a word of what rio's saying
lmao the neutral pronoun lasted two seconds. she's not even trying to pretend like she isn't talking about agatha. and the way she nods to herself like yes, I did the best I could with this. so, there.
"she is my scar" is going to the sapphic annals, isn't it?
LMAOOOO the unblinking cat stare. rio is like I WAS TALKING TO YOU DUM-DUM. I KNOW IT, YOU KNOW IT, EVERYONE AROUND THIS GODDAMN FIRE KNOWS IT. CAN YOU PLEASE PLEASE FUCKING TALK TO ME PLEASE DEAR GOD
and agatha doing a teeny tiny side glance and going whoooooooops not looking! I'm NOT looking! I'm not even here! and scrunching her face more and more trying to keep it blank
AND she's gone. she's so predictable lmaooo. every dang time.
awkwaaaaaard
rio with her soft smile again! with the little amused eye roll! never getting mad at agatha's antics. she's like FINE I'll come after you, you BIG BABY. the patience this woman has
lilia is so scared of rio because somehow, through her exceptional Seer abilities, she knew instinctively that this is her mortal foe. but something funny has just happened: here in front of her there's just a regular little guy, a bit odd maybe, doing her little thing, trying to talk to her ex. might it be... might it be that death isn't a monster, that it's just a thing, a strange but natural thing that happens to everybody? lilia cannot accept that quite yet. so she grabs rio and says no, no. I've seen what you are. you're scary, you're evil, you're dangerous. this is lilia's survival instincts kicking in. we are simply wired to fear death, that's just how humans are. it takes an exceptional mind and soul to see past that.
oh god, here we go, here we go. deep breaths (I'm telling this to myself tbh. i need the pep talk)
stroking her hair so gently. soft, tentative.
hey, subtitle people??? what the fuck??
rio just stands and stares. lets agatha decide what comes next, goes at her pace always
the haiR CARESSING
the HUG. the BIG SIGH. this bitch was running away screaming from rio just yesterday. and here she is. her love. her partner. she finally acknowledges rio's pain and all that they lost and all that they were (and still are tbh) to each other. THIS is what rio was looking for. she's not flirting to manipulate and deflect now, she's not being somebody else. this is agatha cracked open and bleeding love and sorrow
and they melt into each other, and they're rocking each other back and forth, with all their pain and tenderness and longing
agatha with her face buried in rio's shoulder. I'm unwell
and then agatha gently pushes rio back and strokes her hair and cradles her face like she did so many times before and leans in and here I am giving you a play-by-play and running a commentary like a totally normal and sane person would
you know what makes for a perfect onscreen kiss imo? no it's not tongue, although these two will give us plenty of that too. it's the TREMBLING. THE HESITATION. THE YEARNING.
rio and her superhuman willpower. couldn't be me.
and and and and and agatha looks at her puzzled for a second and doesn't register what's happening and dives for a kiss again she's so far gone. the feral animal noises I'm making you have no idea
THE ICY SHOWER
THE STEP BACK. THE MOST PAINED SMILE
THE REGRET
I think one big reason why agatha is always so calculated is because she's afraid her instincts will take over. she does something big and spectacular and stupid and then calls it a 'calculated risk' when it was actually a rush of fear, desire, sorrow, anger that she couldn't control. tonight rio has managed to poke a little hole into a carefully constructed dam, and now all the water is rushing out and tearing down the walls. agatha has rio in her arms and her shape, her scent, her skin are so nostalgic and familiar. her brain goes on autopilot, she's been lonely for so long, she is FAMISHED for love and connection and sex and acceptance. rio wanted her to open up, but agatha doesn't do half-measures. rio wanted her to give for a change, but agatha can only ever take.
rio HAS to put a stop to it. she puts logic before heart, one of them has to and you know agatha isn't gonna. more than anything rio wants to take this one perfect moment and run away with it, but instead she tears herself away and asks, what happens next? what happens if I have to take billy away from you? that reanimated corpse, that freak of nature who walked into your life only yesterday and took over?
billy is now part of the equation and rio cannot ignore it. she has been so gentle and careful with agatha, easing her into a reconciliation that is now in jeopardy because here comes billy maximoff like a sword of damocles! what happens if agatha takes her back only for rio to break her heart all over again? there would be no coming back from that. rio cannot help being the grim reaper just as much as agatha cannot help being a succubus, and she is almost at her breaking point here. because she is hurting too! she is sick of having to be the mature one! she's sick of always coming in second after all of agatha's issues! turns out there's a limit even to the heartbreak an impossibly old and wise being can take.
(and now I need a smoke and a future episode that is just 30 minutes of hot but soft cuddles and kisses and sweet nothings. please.)
once again a big shoutout and thank you to all the people reaching out and leaving comments, it's incredible to hear from you all @crybabyheathen @onceuponalegendbg @idkbroletssee @psychicsolanum @73chn1c0l0rr3v3l @a-tad-bit-obsessed @a-rusty-bucket-of-woes @miacheezytoon @isagrimorie @april-december @aquaaquila and I'm probably forgetting someone but I see you all and I appreciate you so much!
and now for something extra

I debated whether I should keep my opinion on EP3 in the comments to @st-eve-barnes post (she made some good arguments btw!) but I guess Im out of fucks to give. just like the HOTD scriptwriters ✌
big fat disclaimer: I sincerely can’t say a single bad thing about Ewan. his acting was absolutely amazing, he owned the scene, and it’s pretty clear he doesn’t have a problem with nudity (if you watched “High Life”, you know what I’m talking about; if you didn’t, please read the warnings before watching).
my problem is with everything leading up to the brothel scene with Aegon — because this is NOT how you write conflict, and because it could’ve hit way harder if only it was done PROPERLY. unsurprisingly, it started in EP2:
➡ the fact that we got absolutely no reaction to B&C from Aemond is a joke. I’ve read some people saying “well, Jaehaerys isn’t his son so why would he care” — sure, Aemond wasn’t competing to win the uncle of the year award. BUT you are telling me he wouldn’t simply be pissed about the fact that a couple of nobodies managed to sneak into the supposedly well-guarded castle and kill a Targaryen like it’s no big deal? that they dared to put a knife to Helaena’s neck, that they clearly could’ve done worse things to her? that they left a mess in his room, touched his stuff? you mean Aemond, who is definitely an annoying perfectionist who puts every thing in its specific place, Aemond who’s extremely arrogant about being the best warrior, the biggest defender, the mister-know-it-all, Aemond who clearly has anger issues — HE wouldn’t be fuming on the inside? HE wouldn’t rush to the small council meeting to know all the details? HE wouldn’t volunteer to help Aegon murder the ones responsible? it’s a pity everyone’s forgotten S1 Aemond but I have NOT.
➡ I won’t talk much about the brothel scene in EP2 (@pygmyharmoset analyzed it really well) but I will say that to me it felt very disconnected from the main plotline. yet again, there is NO ! BUILD UP ! was it so hard to at least show Aemond leaving? to let us know what mood he was in (was he agitated? fidgeting? when exactly he decided to leave? did something trigger it?). they could’ve cut out the moment of his arrival so we wouldn’t know where he was going to have the big shocking reveal later when he’s suddenly with Sylvi, all naked and vulnerable. it would’ve only taken an additional MINUTE of screentime!
➡ now, to the worst of it — and I really want you to think over what I’m about to say:
people are allowed to grieve in their own way. not everyone is lucky to have all the right tools to process trauma.
did Aegon treat Aemond poorly? was he mean and cruel to his younger brother? yes. yes, he was (newsflash: there are no good people in this show. hope this helps).
BUT
was Aegon’s child killed because of a mistake Aemond made? is it possible that Aegon’s been harboring his resentment, that the absence of Aemond in that tragic, pivotal moment in their lives hurt him? the answer is also YES. Aegon doesn’t know how and has never seen how to cope with emotions in a healthy way, and it’s not in his power to break the cycle so he keeps repeating all the same mistakes. that’s the tragedy of it and that’s the ticking bomb planted under the foundation of their relationship.
the tragedy of that dumbass writing we’ve been presented with is that we did not see their conflict take root. we DID NOT get to see how their discontent kept growing, how they both felt caged and dissatisfied with their circumstances (Aegon realizes no one wants him on the throne and he feels helpless, Aemond is constantly being denied the chance to prove himself so he also feels helpless) — and how eventually that anger they couldn’t channel into anything else made them lash out at each other.
my first thought after watching EP3 was that there’s gotta be a scene missing between the small council meeting and the brothel scene. there SHOULD’VE been a scene with just Aegon and Aemond, they had all the reasons and opportunities for it! here, think about this:
Aemond’s comment at the end of the meeting comes off as patronizing (“It’s a brave thought” — Aemond is forbidden to leave with Vhagar so he’s glad that Aegon has to sit back, too). Aegon insists that he’s just “as fearsome”; but the thing is, he isn’t sure of it, so of course Aemond’s words stay with him, nibble at him, and it would only take a cup or two for him to get heated about it. he calls Aemond to his chambers and brings back the topic — “You don’t deem me brave, brother? You do not think I’d fight just as hard?”. it’s only the two of them, Aegon is in full armor, standing on his little wooden stool, a cup in his hands. and because he is hurting, he wants to hurt Aemond in return. so he gets off the stool and comes closer to him, sneering, “You are, no doubt, a fierce warrior,” — but then the smile falls off his face, and his voice gets quiet, pained, searing, “So tell me, where were you when my son was being murdered? I came to learn that they were looking for you, were they not? Oh, you would’ve fought them off with ease, for sure. So where were you, huh?”
and then you get the tension breaking, the emotions erupting — and, most importantly, the CONFLICT. Aegon throws the cup away, darts to Aemond, grabs him by his clothes (remember how desperately he held his face in EP9 of S1? the parallel would’ve been so beautiful !), finally screaming “Have you any idea what you’ve done? WHAT IT COST US?” — and now he isn’t talking about B&C but about Luke too. only, we’ve seen the extent of Aemond’s guilt and he isn’t about to show it now, taken aback by Aegon’s outburst, so instead of taking the blame, Aemond does what he knows best — he attacks him in return. they throw accusations at each other: Aemond reminds Aegon he was getting drunk, he himself didn’t do anything to be there for his family, he didn’t even do anything to deserve being on the throne. it’s nasty, it’s a shouting match, Aegon’s buddies eventually have to come in to pull them away from each other.
and it’s no surprise that Aegon goes back to drinking after that. and Aemond, overwhelmed and in disarray, goes back to the only place that can grant him comfort. so when Aegon finds him there and dares to humiliate him publicly and rob him of that illusion of comfort — that’s when something switches in Aemond. that’s when he decides he’s not a loyal dog anymore.
and that is, in my humble and very subjective opinion, how you properly bring someone’s temper to a boiling point. if only Ryan Condal ever cared, HA.
#dear god the writing is so fucking bad#but if you are about to argue PLEASE do not#you have your opinion and I have mine and we don’t have to be at each other’s throats if we can’t agree#just go reblog posts you do agree with#hotd spoilers#laura rambles#aemond targaryen#aegon ii targaryen#hotd critical#hotd S2#house of the dragon#house of the dragon spoils#the greens

Being Kind To One Another
So I was watching through S1 again the other day for something, and you know how little things stand out to you that sometimes you didn't notice before. Like word puns that just fly past so quickly. Then one day the meta-brain inside suddenly goes "wait-wot! That was a repeated word!" and leaps upon it. yeah, you don't ignore stuff that in Good Omens.
So what did I hear repeated?
Kind.
One word. Three meanings.
Oh, come now, we can't just have one or two meanings with it. This is Good Omens, after all. The more that can be stuffed into it the better. And all of it works.
To start, we have the pun with the goats in the Flood scene, during the cold opening of Ep3, Hard Times.
Kids. Children. You can't kill children. Yep. Just warming you up here. Actually, its a bit of a theme in Good Omens, avoiding the slaughter of innocents, but we are getting a bit off track. Here is next bit:
[And because I cannot find the GIF to go with it] Crowley replies sarcastically:
"How kind."
oh. Oh. Geddit? No? Well, you might be excused, because it's actually doing a cross-over job with the next time period scene, at Golgotha, and it's one of those puns that you can really only understand going backwards.
On the one hand, we have the German meaning for kind which is "child," but we also need to introduce the third meaning for kind.
Remember this exchange?
We can take the kind here to be "thoughtful and caring," but you could also use another meaning for kind - as in like kind, or all belonging together, as in a family. So, be like family to each other.
Oh, yeah. Considering how some families are to each other that would definitely get some people upset.
Please, won't you consider the children?
I explain the other pun with the demon names here.

Depression is hitting hard, but you know what hits harder? Eternal Dream with the context of ep7
I kid you not, I was doing regular chores and brain said "Hey, pssst, eternal dream is HELLA depressing now."
...
BRAIN I DID NOT NEED THAT-
So here's me dissecting Eternal Dream yet again but with images from ep7 just to cope ;w;
Spoilers duh
(indicate my thoughts/ramble/not part of the lyrics)
I am tired of this dream Will it ever end for me?
(Betrayal after betrayal, the general tiredness of being let down over and over)
I don't have the will to know... Can you help me see?
(This verse remains a bit up in the air for me, as it always has been. I'll try a jab at it though. This is Uzi asking for help. She's tired of the horrors, the secrets, and betrayals. She needs someone else to help her see that this is not a waste of time. She needs N to help her see that there is going to be someone to encourage her.)
Let my body keep you warm Let my essence be your breeze
(So, technically, these images are rather hard to connect. But going with "Let my essence be your breeze" everything that N does in the fighting scene is to get Uzi to return to herself. Her entire being and personality is what is driving N to fight so hard. And in turn her "essence" becomes his "breeze" and will to fight back in situations that seem hopeless.)
Can you hear me calling? Please look out for me
(And he does, despite fighting to the death, he still continues to look after her TwT)
Can you set me free? Will you take my soul away?
(I keep going back and forth on this one. But the more positive one would be if N could set Uzi free from the Absolute Solver, like he has done in ep4 and helped in ep7.)
Casting me in cold Bury me in bones Rest eternally
("Bury me in bones" was first made me think of even doing this silly thing 😅 Because Uzi is literally going to be buried in the grave of Absolute Solver cores and humans that the solver snagged during the core collapse.)
Will you take me home? Can we see the moon again?
(I'm mostly pulling on the moons because they're seen in the background. This can be taken also as a way of asking to go back to the old times. To the times when none of this happened before.)
Dancing in the dark
(Hey, I know I've overused this, but I still can't stop thinking that this was a nod back to ep3. Their entire fight seems like a dance... a brutal, angst-filled, dance ;w;)
'Till we fall apart
(You know, I WAS THE ONE THAT FELL APART TwT. In all seriousness, they did fall apart. Fell/forced apart by the events of ep7.)
I can't end this dream
(This is not the end. Despite being ready and accepting of death, I- personally, so feel free to yeet this into the void- believe her job is not done. She still has something else to settle. And this dream will not end until Uzi finishes that job.)
Does this make any sense? I reckon not. But I needed Eternal Dream out of my head, and this is the only way I could think of getting rid of it ;w;

Ace-Friendly Sherlock
Hi, it's me again! I did a sex-averse friendly Good Omens post a bit ago, and thought I might follow up with a Sherlock one! But I do want to make something clear: As with Aziraphale and Crowley, I know that some people head cannon Sherlock as Ace or Aro/Ace. Please, don't shame people for their separate head canons! That's the great thing and fan fiction: talented writers can share their own ideas about a show, please, let's be friendly!
Fics

Hello. Me again. I was wondering if you could make a post of how Charlie steamrolls Vaggie. I know it's a recurring flaw but I wanted to hear from you.
Of course. I’ve been wanting to make a Chaggie flaws post for a bit so this can be at least part 1 XD preface with I ADORE them (sometimes with a side of Lute/Vaggie) and flaws are part of any good relationship. My very gay wife and I have many but remain very happily married for over three years now :)
Also having just rewatched AGAIN this is fresh 😎 (#idontknowhowmanytimesiverewatchednowpleasesendhelp). So we immediately open into a Disney-esque song that Vaggie begs Charlie not to sing (in the original AND new pilots!) Charlie literally sings over her and runs down the street, annoying everyone in the pride ring. She ignores Vaggie’s commentary and (insider) advice. When she gets back, we see one of the rare cases that Vaggie IS NOT fully in tune with Charlie’s emotions and pushes her to watch the commercial before she can vent about the meeting. This may be intentional to cheer her up though 🧐
Ep2 Chaggie is cute and supportive and more involves Charlie steamrolling Angel and his emotions in favor of Sir Pentious.
Ep3 Charlie flings the whole trust exercise on Vaggie, who is very obviously uncomfortable with this. Ideally she would have given Vaggie a heads up before in front of everyone… or at least recognized that discomfort. But nope. Completely steamrolled. To her credit, Charlie is the first to volunteer and later DOES apologize for putting too much pressure on Vaggie.
But the rooftop. The fucking rooftop. Charlie interrupts the one consensual throwing into a turf war (Nifty REALLY wanted to be thrown XD). Then when Vaggie literally says that she is NOTHING if she isn’t useful, Charlie DOESNT CORRECT HER. Like dude. You don’t try saying “you do so much” in that situation. You tell your girl to fucking love herself dammit and that her self worth should not revolve around you! But it’s like Charlie doesn’t even hear this… she wants to put a bandaid on but she needs to stop the actual bleeding here. And doesn’t. She leaves. Yes Vaggie asked her to but sometimes you should persist a bit more imho. Instead we see an awesome power ballad (also her Assassin’s Creed climbs bro), where Vaggie sings about “it felt so good to be understood” after THIS convo XD I’m sorry I can’t. Gurl you are more than armor, please love yourself. Notably, Charlie IS NOT HAPPY even when the residents are bonding (her one goal right?), until Vaggie is ok. And this scene is very cute and sweet.
Ep4 is more Huskerdust focused, but we do get some cute supportive girlfriend talk and Charlie actually listening. The one time it backfires XD I AM glad Vaggie doesn’t put this all on herself when Charlie returns home devastated.
Ep5 is more Charlie+Lucifer but we get a cute intro to future father-in-law (guys. Why are they not engaged yet?? I was in like three months XD) good tour, minimal steamrolling that I can find. Charlie does completely miss Vaggie’s reaction to Lucifer talking about heaven sucking, but she was facing the other way and kinda focused on him. And she does not notice Vaggie’s very obvious fake enthusiasm over going to heaven at the end.
Ep6 - the BIG ONE. Charlie seemingly does not care about Vaggie’s discomfort going to heaven. Like dude, at least ask why? Maybe? Or do you even notice the VERY obvious hesitancy on every convo about heaven? Idk if she was assuming she knew or just was too excited and missed it. But this happens so many times this episode. Yes, Vaggie REALLY should have given Charlie at least a heads up about what she was walking into. But it helps when someone asks “what’s wrong?”… especially for those of us who are emotionally constipated and trauma-fueled…
Ep7 is frustrating - how long has Vaggie been on the couch now? A week? Their confrontation is so painful. Like can you think of a reason Vaggie may have lied or just not corrected you about this major aspect of her life? Girl has had your back for three years essentially without question. You need to talk. Not cry for a week. But again, Charlie comes first and Vaggie hates herself too much to combat this. Especially right now. Charlie can focus on nothing else all day until she finally learns actions mean more than words. Meanwhile Vaggie gets the shit beaten out of her and reminded to live for others. As much as I love this scene, I do NOT love having a person as a “reason to live.” I hope she develops beyond this but if this is what Vaggie needs to survive life right now so be it (I actually meant to type Lute instead of life but both work XD)
Their apology is super cute and I think there will be some great wing fun in bed tonight XD Vaggie IS steamrolled here again but this time it’s more legitimate imho. Charlie should not let her apologize after how she treated her today. They BOTH need to apologize dammit.
And finally ep8 - very minimal steamrolling I could find! They are just adorable and perfect in every way. Wow that ended up long XD sorry and you’re welcome? XD

love next door / ep3.
resonated with seokryu last week, and with seunghyo just as much, this week, with it being revealed that his career as an athlete ended so abruptly because of an accident. that too right when he was about to achieve such a huge milestone — that's quite the fall if you ask me.
it's interesting that they juxtapose their situations, bc it's true that seunghyo has the privilege to dream but seokryu? not so much. seokryu quit (likely) because of exhaustion and burnout, and seunghyo was forced to quit because of injury. their reasons are different, and they have/had different reasons for lashing out, but a major one that ties them both is how hard they'd worked to get till that point. the time and effort and hard work they'd poured to get till that point. when you're forced to quit (or quit out of your own will) something like that, it's bound to leave you empty, it's bound to leave you with this burdening sense of purposelessness and a big, big void in your heart.
there's resentment and a sense of futility.
resentment moreso in seunghyo's case because his dream was snatched away from him in an instant, just like that. that's got to hurt, when you love something so much, you're doing so well in it and in a moment's flash it slips right from your hand, never to return again— it quite literally feels like your whole world crumbles. there are constant thoughts that just go along the lines of "why me?" "what did i do to deserve this?", because it feels cruelly unfair, and that only piles up on the hate more and more, till you accept it. because only after accepting it can one move forward. you get better, of course, just like seunghyo, you learn to get back up again. but it's a lot of courage and hard work, and i think part of why seunghyo is prideful is from that as well. he fell, hard, but he's learnt to stand back up again. seokryu's also in a similar process, but a tad bit different, because i guess now she'll try to focus more on searching a 'dream', or at least something that she wants to do.
with seokryu, we get a better insight to her thoughts bc we get to spend more with her, and there's futility and resentment, and anger too, from how she has been burdened with having to shoulder her mother's life on top of already taking on the burden of the eldest. the sense of futility likely results from her people pleasing tendencies- how she's never really prioritised herself and her happiness, because she was so swept up in being the best, the first, the responsible elder daughter — because that's what was expected of her. now that she attempts to let go of those, now that she attempts to go against the flow and take a break, she has no idea how to, because she herself hasn't ever given a thought to it.
a sense of familiarity, fear of change, the feeling that only your time seems to have stopped while everyone else's goes on, leaving you behind.
once again, common points that tie both their situations, and the reason why, despite all the banter and differences, they understand each other in ways only they can.
#love next door#sooooo yeah. no idea where i was going with this but#i had some Thoughts about them and had to get them out of my system so#also i will protect both seokryu and seunghyo with all i have they're my babies

rewatching s1 of broadchurch even tho im halfway through my first watch of s3 because i have an obsession with rewatching things and DAMN there are way more hints at who ended up being the killer than i originally thought, and a bunch of moments that are really ironic in hindsight
spoilers under the cut (yes it came out like 10 years ago but im still putting a spoiler warning)
ep1 - joe and ellie talk in the kitchen after hardy makes the statement to the media
joe: do you know what happened? i mean should we be worried for other kids?
on first watch, his tone of voice and body language here just seem like confused and worried parent, but on second, there's definitely a hint of panic in his voice
ep2 - joe, tom and fred in the cafe
joe: this is a terrible, unspeakable thing thats happened. but nothing like it will ever happen again here
tom: you cant know that though can you? you cant be sure
then after this joe's facial expression looks SO guilty like he can't think how to respond
ep3 - hardy questioning tom with joe in the room
hardy: can you think of anyone who would want to hurt danny?
THEN THE CAMERA IMMEDIATELY CUTS TO JOE. ik near the end joe swears he never wanted to hurt him but this is still a rly clever piece of editing, i love when shows do this. also the fact that in every scene where he's questioning tom, joe's in the room and occasionally talks but he's never in the frame of the camera hardys using to record it. he was literally right under their noses the entire time and they never suspected because they were focused on other people too much
ep4 hardy goes to the millers" for dinner
this scene hits so much different on second viewing holy shit. at one point they're talking about marriage and work and how hardy's divorce was partially work-related and:
hardy: this job, it does it to you
ellie: well, not to us
ellie actually makes me sob she loves her life so much then it all just comes crashing down on her
joe: do you think you're gonna solve this case?
hardy: certain.
joe: good :)
joe's reply itself here makes sense but there's a few seconds before he says it where his face is just blank and mildly panicked. he's genuinely worrying about being caught at this point.
now this one isn't a direct hint or anything but just if you think about the dialogue in a different context...yeah it fits
hardy: you bloody liar
joe: ive said nothing
hardy: and yet-
joe said nothing to the police or ellie and yet was lying the WHOLE time.
ep5 - brian asks ellie out
ellie: sorry, im married
brian: and thats an issue is it?
ellie: happily married, brian
brian: oh. okay, fair enough. only lots of people aren't though, are they?
ellie: i am.
THE IRONY OH ELLIE LET ME GIVE YOU A HUG PLEASE
ep6 - jack's wake
ellie spends the whole scene looking around to see if anyone looks worried, at one point she looks into a room (seemingly at nige but joe is stood nearby having a different conversation) and she makes eye contact with joe RIGHT as the camera cuts away
ep 6 - joe takes tom to the skate park and ellie arrives
ellie: i was just looking round that bar at the wake thinking "its someone here, why cant i see it?" the longer this goes on, im starting to suspect everyone
joe: when you say everyone...
ellie: well, nearly everyone
this is probably the most obvious hint that i can't believe i didn't catch on to. of COURSE they're gonna make a point for the killer to be the ONE person ellie LITERALLY SAYS she isn't suspicious of.
ep7 - ellie lets susan leave the police station
ellie (about susan's past with her husband and daughters): in your own house, how could you not know?
just ow. the irony of it all. fucking ow.
#in conclusion ellie miller needs a hug and im more than willing to give her one#this is why i love rewatching things almost immediately after i watch them for the first time#you notice all the subtleties you didn't notice the first time and it lets you rly appreciate the cleverness of the writing and acting#broadchurch#broadchurch s1#ellie miller#joe miller#alec hardy#olivia colman#david tennant#i love rambling about decade-old tv shows as though they've only just come out <333

TW: explicit discussion of suicide
(ID: Screenshot of Ray in ep4 saying to Sand "A burden to society" after he tells Sand to scold him and insult him) I cannot for the love of everything that is holy get this moment out of my head. Because the way he says it - with this deep fondness and affection - makes me want to want to chew my own fingers down to the bone. Because after that absolutely earth shattering intro where this happens:
(ID: Screenshot of Ray from ep4 where he calls Mew from the bathroom saying "If I'm gone, I won't be anyone's burden anymore, right?) one would assume that Ray wouldn't take being called a burden very well, certainly wouldn't grow an emotional attachment to someone who has called him that multiple times, has expressed his irritation over Ray's clinginess upfront.
And yet that is exactly what happened. So the question is - why? I've seen multiple ppl talk about this so I feel like I don't need to explain here how Ray's friend group aren't particularly good friends to him. Even Mew, who Ray supposedly loves isn't all that affectionate or understanding towards him. Please read this meta for a breakdown of why and how Mew's response to Ray when he calls him from the brink of suicide and for which Ray is so incredibly grateful for - fell laughably short. Ray who's mother never loved him (and it's likely quite nuanced since she quite obviously committed suicide and I can't even begin to comprehend the heights of fucked up abandonment issues that would wreak on one's child), Ray who is yet to mention his father even once, Ray who tells his friends how much he loves them all the time and literally never hears it back - you know, that guy isn't really looking for a grand love, he isn't waiting for someone to see inside his soul and find something wonderful - he's looking for scraps. Literally anything.
He wants someone to look at him, see inside to his festering, broken, ugly core and still find it worth loving, find it worth saving. And Sand? He does exactly that from like Day 0
(ID: Screenshot of Sand and Ray from ep1 in Sand's bathroom where Sand says "How did you manage to live this long" to a passed out Ray) I had lost my entire mind over this interaction in ep1 because Sand has that exact irritation and affection here that one would feel for a troublesome sibling. Like he doesn't really like Ray here in this moment and he's not very secretly very annoyed at him. But no matter what,he will protect him. Ray isn't awake in the above clip to experience it but it just drives me crazy how Sand is exactly the person that Ray has been waiting for, a person capable of very intense albeit pragmatic love. Someone who can call out Ray's burdens and still love him through it (unlike you know...his so called friends). Yes, there are quite overt parallels between the arc of Ray's feelings for Sand and Mew:
(ID: Screenshot of the RayMew kiss from ep4 and SandRay kiss from Ep2 side by side) look at the arch of his body!!!! my man is always freaking reaching out isn't he!!!!!!
(ID: Screenshot of Ray offering to save Mew from ep4 and Sand from ep3 side by side) But that's where those parallels end because Sand and Mew could not be more different as people and Ray has absolutely no way of comprehending the person that is Sand. Doesn't Ray act a little differently around Sand?
(ID: Screenshot of SandRay from ep3 where Sand says "You just don't take no for an answer, do you, Ray?) Like it's funny when Sand had said this but also...doesn't he? Doesn't Ray take no for an answer quite often? Didn't he take Mew's 'no' two years ago and never pestered him about it again? Didn't even bother to do anything about it when Boston was trying to get in his head about Mew at the party and instead went straight back to making fuck me eyes at Sand. When Mew told him not to fight with Top, didn't he immediately back down? Didn't he let Mew walk away with Top without a fight? Ray hadn't felt the need to confess his feelings again or kiss Mew for two years, not until he sees Mew in Sand's POOR BOY shirt. Ray can't stay away from Sand, doesn't have a single clue as to what it is he's feeling for him (please have your life ruined by this gifset) - how could he? How could he possibly know what it feels like to be loved by someone? How could he possibly know what it feels like to love someone?
#only friends meta#only friends the series#only friends ray#raymew#sandray#only friends#ofts#nani's hot takes#don't touch me i am so sensitive right now i feel like im going to implode#and my whole being will just scatter in the wind

ok gamers I rewatched tristamp one more time in order to write a post about the soundtrack, and some of the stuff I found blew my socks off (even though I've seen every episode like 6 times) so buckle up because oh my god. oh my god
this will cover most of both volumes of the OST (which you can find on spotify), with a focus on wolfwood, and a little bit of vash, meryl, and the eye of michael
...and a very thorough breakdown of "drain arm" :)
notes before I get into it: -I won't be analyzing the plant song because I. already wrote an entire separate thing about that haha (a link to that doc will be in the replies section of the notes if you're interested)
-you won't need to know anything about music theory, because I'm just pointing out where certain themes come up (with the exception of "duet", but I'll explain terminology there). timestamps will be included so you can listen for them as you read
-if you're obsessed with the OST like I am, most of this probably won't be anything new x) but I hope it's enjoyable regardless
-my credentials: I was a pianist for 10 years and an oboist for 7.5 years and I only had 1 semester of intermediate music theory but I got to analyze the 1st mvt of tchaik 5 and I think that permanently altered my brain chemistry
-the tracks I recommend being familiar with to have a better grasp on this post are: -> "whistling/blues harp in the wasteland" (vash's leitmotif) -> "reality" -> "childhood memories" -> "duet" -> "human subject" (eye of michael, or EoM, leitmotif) -> "drain arm" (technically optional)
-please don't take any of my interpretations/speculation as fact! you are absolutely free to come to your own conclusions I just have a lot of thoughts about the soundtrack lol 👍
here we go :]
EP1: -you can hear a variation of the plant song in "immigrant space explorer" (0:36-1:00)
-vash's leitmotif is first heard in "no man's land" (0:41-0:48)
-only about half of "mystery man" plays, and his leitmotif (0:38-0:51) is actually cut from the scene so it's not heard at all
EP2: -"escape" has vash's leitmotif from 0:18-0:31. they also took out the lyrics in the episode's version of the track x)
-it's possible that we'll hear "might is right" or a new arrangement of it if we get to see the rest of the nebraska family in future episodes, since there were posters of marilyn. I think people largely associate the song with EG the Mine but due to the track title and the fact that it first played in this episode, I feel like it's more about the nebraskas
-I'll talk about "childhood memories" in ep12 because it's related to rem's themes
EP3: -the plant song can be heard in "compatriots" (1:01-1:11)
-"reality" is first heard here, right before the episode in which wolfwood is introduced. keep this in mind for later :')
EP4: -"undertaker" has a dissonant sax part (0:48-0:54) that's similar to the one found in "irritation" (1:05-1:11), but it's an ascending passage rather than descending. it doesn't show up anywhere else so it might become a motif we'll hear in the future, but there's no way to know until the next part is released
-"planet zaji", from 0:55-1:04, has that one part from "time left" (1:02-1:09). it's heard while wolfwood's spinning the punisher around but I think it's just something that sounds cool, and you can't really hear it anyway because of the sound effects/dialogue. if zazie gets any additional themes in the future I might have more to say on this
-vash's leitmotif kicks in in "hungry !" (0:21-0:43) when wolfwood introduces himself at the end of the episode. I really like this track I hope we'll get to hear it again x)
EP5: -I don't think there's any meaning behind "shadow" borrowing from "worms network". I'm pretty sure it was just for mood (and to be fair it is a cool track)
-you can hear vash's leitmotif at the beginning of "boy and vash". this is the part where vash is escorting rollo back to the village
-"cyborg" introduces a new 4-note pattern (0:07-0:14) that I'm calling the eye of michael leitmotif. if hearing this reminds you of episode 6 then you already understand what I mean
-"dud" has vash's leitmotif as well (2:20-2:59), which starts playing when vash is begging rollo to wake up after wolfwood kills him
-only a small part of "human subject" (0:25-0:35) is used for the final scene, right when the windmills start turning. using the EoM leitmotif as a sendoff to the empty village is. really haunting
EP6 (this is a long one I'm sorry): -the EoM leitmotif can be heard in "reborn" (0:09-0:14, but it's easier to hear in 0:26-0:30). this is the opening scene where wolfwood guns down the deserter
-they do reuse "worms network" when livio first opens fire on vash but that's more for mood in my opinion. you could say it hints at zazie monitoring the sand steamer though
-we're probably going to hear "the desert rogue" again when the bad lads gang shows up in a future episode, possibly with a new arrangement for brilliant dynamites neon (this is one of my personal favorite tracks actually. it's a shame they didn't get to use the whole thing because 0:45 to the end is really cool)
-"boyhood" contains the EoM leitmotif and it's very in-your-face in this song (1:15-2:19). in the episode itself the track gets cut at around 2:10, but in the OST the piano motif from "orphanage" can be heard one more time right at the end of the song at 2:18-2:20. which is an evil thing to do. anyway
-"nicholas the punisher" is an arrangement of "reality". let that sit for a second, maybe go listen to those two tracks or something.
okay so we can look at this in a few different ways:
-> the end of episode 3 is of course a reality check, supported by the corresponding track being titled "reality" (even though it's fabricated by nai: to suggest and then prove to the people of no man's land that vash is indeed deserving of the $$6mil bounty; and to tell vash that his presence will pose a threat to humans). you know who else is supposed to be* grounded in reality? the pragmatic nicholas d wolfwood, who's introduced at the start of episode 4 *tristamp wolfwood hasn't quite found his resolve yet, as shown by his hesitation when livio appears
-> in the scene where "nicholas the punisher" is heard, vash is insistent on rescuing livio while wolfwood pushes back and says it's too late for him. he's clearly wishing he wouldn't have to eliminate livio though, and with "reality" as the foundation of this song, it presents wolfwood's inner turmoil in a new way for the audience: vash, who is physically right there trying to persuade him that there's still hope for his brother, vs his role as "nicholas the punisher" in sound, in his mind, and the "reality" that developed along with it (death is/can be a mercy, and sometimes it's necessary to sacrifice one life to save many)
(I also want to add that while legato's dialogue shows he intended for the orphanage to be eliminated through livio's death, it seems wolfwood didn't even realize that killing livio would mean more kids would be taken by the EoM for experimentation. he thought he had to choose between livio or the children, but it was a "test" of loyalty; and legato was attempting to obtain said loyalty by force)
-> outside of the episode, if you were to just listen to this track within the OST it's very representative of his character. contrary to "undertaker", which is fairly laid-back and....honestly kind of playful (and equally reflective of wolfwood's personality, when he's relaxed), "nicholas the punisher" is a more somber and contemplative piece. the fact that it's built on "reality" already suggests that he's someone whose beliefs conflict with vash's; and even without knowing that, both of wolfwood's themes contrast with the energy of "vash the stampede" quite clearly (even if I personally don't consider that track to be vash's official theme, it's still associated with him). I think it's really interesting that vash, the quieter one, has more raucous songs while wolfwood, the one with a sharp tongue, has calmer tracks :)
you might be wondering if "orphanage" is in "nicholas the punisher" and the answer is......yes, but actually, no. but kinda if you're delusional like me. this little pattern from 0:29-0:42 in "orphanage" is found in the low brass from 0:57-1:11 in "nicholas the punisher" (although it's in a different key and has a slight variation in the 2nd half). it's not quite the same, but both phrases start by going down a half step, then down a P5 interval (D->C#->F# for "orphanage", F->E->A for "nicholas the punisher"). lastly the sand steamer's leitmotif (I guess) is also present but that's. obviously because this is happening on the sand steamer lol
-"whom to kill, whom to let live" is just a faster/more tense arrangement of "orphanage" with saxophone over it. starting at 1:07 you can hear the worms leitmotif (1:31-1:34 in "worms network")
I can't say whether or not legato is already represented in the OST because he's currently not associated with any unique tracks, but they might tie the dissonant saxophone passage from "irritation" to him. it's first heard when legato stops wolfwood from escaping the facility, and as far as I can remember it's not played anywhere else. if he plays a bigger role in the next season, which I'm sure he will, I'll be keeping an ear out for this x) (I only mention the sax thing because I don't think he's represented by the sax solo that plays in "whom to kill, whom to let live")
EP7: -a little more of "the desert rogue" is heard when the bad lads make their way onto the sand steamer but it's very hard to make out over the gang yelling in the background lmao
-we're treated to the entirety of "human subject", for the scene where livio briefly returns to himself. if you somehow weren't convinced that those repeated 4 notes had anything to do with the eye of michael, this is the last instance where it's heard: the moment livio's overcome by whatever brainwashing was used on him by the EoM
-I think most people associate "time left" with ep12 but it's first played in this episode and I believe that it was primarily composed with the ion cannon sequence in mind (though a majority of the tracks in the OST only play once for specific scenes, with some songs being cut short and getting different parts played across 2+ episodes. "irritation" and "human subject" are examples of this)
EP8: -this one's a little hard to hear because the 1st note is implied in the C drone but vash's leitmotif starts at around 0:09 in "complicity" and runs all the way to 1:06
-it's also in "home" (1:38-1:57), playing at the moment luida hands vash the red coat :)
EP9: -I've talked about this before but I really like that there's 4(?) measures of polyrhythm (2 or more differing rhythmic lines that are played within the same time signature) when vash joins in, before the brothers come together on the same even rhythm. you can see how vash's quarter-note pattern doesn't line up with nai's quarter-note triplets, and in fact, neither of them ever land or start together:
(for the sake of comprehension I wrote it out with a faster tempo to stretch the polyrhythm part over 8 bars instead of the slow tempo/4 bars. I'm not sure what the official tempo is. I think a sane person would write it at a faster tempo so that the part doesn't look stupidly cluttered but a good musician would be able to play it regardless. anyway-)
it sounds even more stilted because vash is playing on the offbeat. polyrhythm's such a great way to represent the brothers' relationship because it seems so chaotic but both lines are still in time together, following the same beats. they're so different but in the end they're still brothers who (are trying to) understand each other. and I love that vash is playing secondo, a more harmonic/supportive part, while knives has primo, where the melody/ornaments are. it says a lot about their personalities :')
since I don't know what the original sheet music looks like I can't say if this is true but you can hear that the plant song at 1:03 is played in octaves (2 notes that're the same pitch with one higher than the other). because of the nature of a duet, and the fact that this was played by the twins when they were little, the octaves were probably split between the parts. so vash was playing the lower octave of the plant song with his right hand, and nai played the upper octave with his left hand (we don't get to see this because it cuts to nai playing the song alone at that point). also: vash favors his right hand while nai favors his left
-now for something far less interesting: "last run" is a medley combining "ethics and morality", "compatriots", and "millions knives"
EP10: -"a cruel sight" seems to be unused. it was probably intended to lead into "bio-power reactor" in the scene where meryl and roberto meet elendira in the tank (given that it ends the same way "bio-power reactor" starts), but they cut it and just played a version of "bio-power reactor" without the melody
-elendira's themes ("elendira the crimsonnail" and "which is the monster?") seem to have some lyrics that're most audible in the beginning of the tracks but they're almost impossible to make out without some kind of editing software, which I don't have lol. they're already very quiet in the background and they echo, on top of sounding like they were put through autotune
also this is entering speculation territory but it makes me wonder if elendira's theme is going to evolve with her. we've seen some concept art with her having a more teenage appearance, so I think it'd be really cool if the vocals also changed accordingly
additionally she doesn't have the EoM leitmotif anywhere but she DOES have a proper 4-note chromatic pattern that descends from D in "which is the monster?" (1:32-1:35), which is the same note that the EoM leitmotif starts on. if we consider EoM's broken chromatic passage to represent the failed experiments, then elendira, with an actual chromatic passage in her theme, is a success
-"meryl's regrets" is ALSO an arrangement of "reality" :') this is the track that plays during roberto's final moment, which was. you know. the consequence of meryl running off in pursuit of the truth. the "reality" roberto had warned her about several times prior to episode 10. interestingly, while "nicholas the punisher" expands on the original track, "meryl's regrets" is a reduction--it's mostly just the baseline with some notes here and there. she doesn't have a theme yet, but 1:23-1:33 might be something we hear again if/when she gets a track associated with her
EP11: -"nicholas and meryl" is an arrangement of "boy and vash", with erhu echoing vash's leitmotif. I think it's a neat way to show through music that both of them are here because of vash :]
-the tracklist goes slightly out of order at this point for some reason. after "memory retrieval", "memory of geranium" is what plays in the final memory, when nai decapitates rem
EP12: -"memory of rem" is a combination of "childhood memories" and "memory of geranium". "childhood memories" is also found in "knives's piano", which is based on "duet". one fun way of interpreting this is that the "childhood memories" part of the duet is actually from rem, if she was the one who taught the twins how to play piano, which would make "duet" a musical representation of vash and nai's roots (pun intended. sorry). this also suggests nai misses rem, with how often he plays the piano, even if he thinks he hates her.
but "childhood memories" can also simply be seen as a theme that's associated with rem, nai, and vash's brief time together x)
-okay this is the part where I get to rant about "drain arm" because THIS SONG was literally the reason I decided I needed to rewatch stampede. I was listening to "drain arm" a couple weeks after the finale aired and I heard vash's leitmotif near the end and I was like "NO WAY!!!! HOW DID I MISS THAT"
as it turns out, it was cut from episode 12.
:)
not to worry though, I still have plenty to say about it. even if I'm a little disappointed. just. a little.
-> from 1:13-1:25, you can hear vash's leitmotif in the cello. this DID make it into the scene, and it plays when vash rises through the clouds
-> 2:44-3:10 is where some of the lyrics from vocal version of "millions knives" play: "remember how / we used to be / no turning back / sky's (skies??) falling down". although you can't actually hear the "remember how" in "drain arm" (at least not without blasting the song into your ears, which I don't recommend), it starts right when the image of vash and nai sitting in the geodome appears
-> we finally get the plant song at 3:36, when the condensed energy starts to leak out/charge. and then after it fires, but before nai dives into the beam, we hear "I still care for you" (3:44-3:52). and while it's originally from the vocal version of "millions knives", in the context of the scene I think it's a sentiment from both brothers: vash, who pleads for nai to let go and releases the energy away from him; and then knives, desperately reaching for the cube because he believes the success of his plan will ensure his family's (and especially his brother's) safety, the only ones he's ever cared about
in other words: plant song in cello = vash -> "I still care for you" -> continuation of plant song in low brass = knives. they're connected by this single sentence
-> knives's leitmotif (I didn't talk about it because it's only found in songs that signal his appearance, so it's really obvious, but yes he's got one of those) plays at 4:03 for the "nai is dead. you killed him" exchange
-> it goes back to a variation of the plant song at 4:29 (I LOVE the piano at 4:40-4:49 btw. it's so good. I could cry about it. probably)
if you've read my plant song analysis you might be wondering how to tell when it's being associated with the name millions knives instead of the plant race. since we know that a good chunk of the songs in the OST were written like a film score, the visual context (and/or the song titles themselves) can clue you in. "drain arm"'s use of the plant song is meant to highlight that vash and nai aren't human, so it's the latter
-> now here's the part that was removed, probably due to the runtime: vash's leitmotif in the cello again, from 5:03-5:09. if you revisit the part right before nai lets go of the cube, you'll hear that it skips these 6 seconds and goes straight to knives's theme ("but that's the plant song!" yes. we'll get to that in a sec). this missing bit right here?? fucks me up EVERY time. it's the most mournful his leitmotif has ever sounded, appropriately so, and it's absolutely criminal that it wasn't included. especially because knives's theme, the plant song melody, follows it up on violin as the cello continues to play a line in harmony.
and it's knives's theme because in this moment it's about him dying, not the plants. they spent a whole season tricking us into thinking that the plant song was knives's theme, and then they used it to send him off.
-> and then july city explodes o7
as much as I'd love to hear "drain arm" again for another chance to let the weight of vash's motif come through, I think it's too intertwined with this scene to be recycled. like. maaaaaaaybe they could use it for fifth moon if that's supposed to be the climax of the next part but they kinda?? already did the "fire a really big laser at the sky" thing? anyway yeah I'm totally normal about "drain arm". so normal
Extras: -the punisher and the double fangs have these cool sound effects when they transform and it kinda makes me think that their guns are built from lost tech, if the punisher's laser cannon wasn't evidence enough of this
-there's no equivalent of "sound life" in stampede, and I don't think there's going to be one. however, I do think that it would make a lot of sense if rem taught the boys how to play piano, because we could get something like:
-> rem asks vash about the plant song (the memory in ep12) -> she gives the boys piano lessons -> she helps them compose "duet"
-they didn't use "stampede out" for this season but I really hope we'll hear it in the next part. I know it's just a longer version of "escape" but it's a fun song :]
-this is. obvious but you can hear "gate" in "millions knives". no idea if they'll put "gate" into more songs, especially for vash now that he seems to have some control over it
-there's also something kinda fun with key signatures too: -> "millions knives" is in b minor -> vash's leitmotif is in d dorian (of course this changes depending on the key signature of whatever track it's used in) -> "undertaker" is also in d dorian -> I think songs associated with no man's land/humanity are usually in some dorian scale or specifically the key of a minor but this is solely based on jeneora rock since july city had its own unique theme so I'm not totally sure yet. "duet" is in a minor by the way -> "nicholas the punisher" is in d minor. if "undertaker" is tied to humanity (which is tied to vash) then "nicholas the punisher" is linked to the other side: knives, through the EoM. it adds another interesting layer to the contrast between wolfwood's two themes, but I don't consider this to hold any meaning lol -> I WILL say that b minor is the relative minor of D Major, so having knives and vash's songs be written in those keys was likely deliberate. and what makes it really interesting is that to get d dorian, you take a D Major scale and lower the 3rd and 7th notes by a half step
-I'm not 100% sure but I think plucked piano strings were used to create the low, scratchy string sound effect in some of the songs (one example is literally at the beginning of "irritation"). I think it's really cool that piano is everywhere in the soundtrack, but not necessarily by hitting the keys
-I am unbelievably excited for livio's/razlo's themes because they have the opportunity to do some REALLY COOL things with the music for them. we might not get them in part 2 (though I think we will) but whenever it happens I'll be so ready for it >:)
and that's all!! o(-< thank you for reading! if you actually took the time to go through all of this with the soundtrack pulled up, I'm. impressed. i think. anyway I'm a big fan of OSTs with strong storytelling and tristamp's OST is no exception :]
if you've got questions, feel free to ask ^^ I definitely didn't cover everything I just picked out whatever I thought was worth mentioning. which was uhhhh quite a bit x)
(also again if you're interested in reading the plant song analysis I did it's in the replies section of the notes 👍 I recommend reading it on a computer though)

WANDAVISION DEEP DIVE part 1
(Wandavision entries: [1][2][3])
(AAA entries: ep1 [1][2][3][4] ep2 [1][2][3][4] ep3 [1][2][3] ep4 [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][+1] ep5 [1])
After managing to keep away from social media for almost two months, here comes Agatha All Along sucking me back in 🙃 I want to rewatch the whole thing and see how many details I can catch, but I guess I might as well go through Agatha's scenes in Wandavision first. and you guys are coming with me!! we can all hyperfixate together (spoilers from both WV and AAA below. this is going to be just a stream of consciousness as I go through scenes, don't expect anything elaborate)
SO.
Agatha arrives in Westview attracted by Wanda's Hex. She might already suspect she's dealing with the Scarlet Witch because lbr, who has that sort of power? She takes a calculated risk to come investigate (detective Agnes of Westview on the case!) It's funny that her calculated risks are always way more emotional than she'd admit, because who in their right mind comes after the SW? But all that power is too alluring, so Agatha takes possession of Ralph's house, ruins the market value adding a creepy basement and brainwashes him into being her husband/minion/pet.
And now it's time to do what she does best, con artist is gonna con! I adore that Agatha became one of the most infamous witches in history thanks mostly to her improv skills.
She's a magical gal is a small time locale!! he's a husband who's part machiiiiiine (great now it'll get stuck in my head again)
worth nothing that both witches and androids have historically and culturally been used as queer allegories, and here's a very sapphic witch pretending to be a straight 1950s housewife and another witch who's got an elaborate fantasy going on where her husband is able to pass and all their problems are sitcom-level fixable.
How to solve the Hex mystery according to Agatha Harkness:
step #1, casually fish for personal info
step #2, flirt with your suspect (obviously)
she literally asks if Wanda's single ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
AGATHA
she's lying it on soooo thick
she dropped that pot so deliberately LMAOO stinky chaotic goblin
knowing she' s being an asshole on purpose makes this scene 100 times funnier tbh
(also a moment of silence for Sharon's irreparable trauma. her last words will be "Wanda, I'm begging you, let him breathe, please")
episode 2: Agatha keeps being a menace
And knowing now that she's always playing a part and her real personality is much more emo makes it easier to spot when she slips out of character
"was that too much? might rein it down a lil bit" (btw I'm still suspicious of Dennis the mailman and totally expect a big reveal in Westview season 3)
I'm betting that this was Agatha rather than Agnes too. she's so miserable lol. she hates playing this part so much. and that wig is hideous
not Agatha casually planting the idea of children in Wanda's head. She probably was the one making people chant "for the children" too. literally manipulating Wanda into showing her if she can create life, calculated risk my ass, she's out here playing with fire
(does that mean that Agatha is a liiiiiiitle bit Billy's and Tommy's parent too?? she planTED the sEED. hear me OUT.)
you know she was dead inside at having to sit through the whole talent show. she probably took it out on the contestants and made them trip onstage or something
Episode 3 of pappappa pappappa wandavision!
Agatha helping Wanda to pick baby clothes, I'm going to sob. (look at this technicolor filter! modern shows CAN color their shit! it's just that they'd rather make everything look like muddy ass instead)
not much from Agatha this episode except scheming to get Monica kicked out of the Hex, seeing as she's the biggest obstacle between herself and Wanda ('s powers). Also you know she was stalking the house to keep track of when the babies were born. Also also, the painted scenery! Like mother like son, it's such a big hint about the nature of the Road.
look at this piece of shit, I love her so much. And she does tend to wink when she's just told a truly egregious lie, doesn't she? it's like her little signature.
Agatha in episode 5 coming in like: LEMME SEE THOSE BABIESSSSSSS
kathryn hahn with 80s curls is doing something to me, let me tell you
so manipulative, in so many ways. and knowing what we know now about Agatha and children, imagine the turmoil inside of her!! triumph at having confirmation of Wanda's life-giving powers. nervousness about the mess she's putting herself in. exasperation at having to keep up the charade. and, most importantly, getting to HOLD A BABY BOY AFTER ALL THIS TIME (amazing, terrifying, traumatic, wonderful)
what is she doiiiing. this bitch, I swear.
OH MY GAWD I FORGOT WANDA SAID THIS. "so she keeps coming at me like a cat in heat, that's not her fault Vision, she has a Medical Condition"
"kids. can't control them. no matter how hard you try"??????? the suddenly wistful voice?????????????????????? why don't I fling myself off a cliff?????????????????? was this woman actually honestly dying inside while still having to play pretend, I can't, I cannot. And how much of Agatha's backstory was decided at this point, was Kathryn given a general idea?
Agatha and Billy, partners in crime already! Seriously, Jac Schaeffer must have had an idea of where this was going. And it's obvious in retrospect that Agatha would be drawn to Billy the most, he's a witch unlike Tommy and he's such a polite, sweet little fellow, he probably reminded her of Nicky so much?? Here's this scary dangerous witch who on one side is planning to murder everyone in the room, and on the other is fighting back the urge to go full mama bear on this kid and protect and cherish him forever. This is not what she signed up for when she decided to stalk Wanda!
She is so horrible. She is despicable. I'm allowed to say it because I love her so much! I can't remember, was it revealed that she turned a fly into a dog or something? Or did she kidnap a dog dog from a shelter / someone's garden and then stone cold killed him? No, wait, she made Ralph kill him. Do your own killing of cute innocent little creatures, you coward! Love that vest tho.
"Fix the dead!" "You can do that?" And of course she's pretending here but you know that's EXACTLY what this whole sordid Sparky affair was about, she's testing and prodding at Wanda's powers, trying to figure out her limits. There's an eagerness here that she doesn't need to fake. Who knows, maybe she was actually squeamish about killing the dog (she does have a cuddly bunny and woves him vewy much), hence why Ralph had to do it. But more importantly even if she didn't like killing a pet, even if she wasn't happy about traumatizing these kids - that's exactly what she's doing here, she's willingly hurting two children - she went and did it anyway, because her thirst for Wanda's powers is too big. She kills witches out of anger, out of fear and self-preservation. She is ultimately a selfish person, and that is what makes her a villain. It's not that she doesn't have feelings. She has plenty of feelings, she has a conscience, and she chooses to do the bad thing anyway.
"And we can't reverse death. No matter how sad it makes us. Okay? Some things are forever." These two shows above all else are about grief. You can peel this scene and find more and more layers, it was about the kids losing Sparky at first but also about Wanda losing Pietro, Wanda losing Vision, Wanda losing the kids. And it's also, DEFINITELY about Agatha losing Nicky. I need a drink.
Agatha discreetly wiping a tear in the background nbd
And I can only upload 30 pictures per post so there's going to be a part two. I was NOT planning to write so much, help. What are you doing to me AGATHA
go to part 2

IWTV S2 Ep3 Musings - Armand & Lesmand & Nickistat (Spoilers)
We got the Armand backstory! 😭 The first half of this ep had me screaming at my screen, cuz Armand's a effing LIAR; I was rolling! 🤣
We were already told 1000 times by Assad & Sam that Armand's trying to make himself seem as sympathetic as possible. That is SUPER important, cuz although he's my favorite book character, Armand is a effing MENACE in IWTV, TVL, QotD, and TVA.
Ok, they've clarified my confusion about the weird 1556 date, cuz it implied that Armand MET Lestat in 1556, which is entirely wrong.
So I'm glad my suspicion/hope was correct, that the date was out of context. 1556+239=1795, which tracks with what Les said in S1.
So Lestat met Armand ONE year after becoming a vampire. (No wonder AMC!Armand dish-ragged him, LOL!)
No duh, if you've only been a vamp for a EFFING YEAR. (I looooove the Time-stopping Gift! So happy to see it used again--the horses are especially impressive.)
This seems like Armand's taking Marius' place as Lestat's mentor (Armand WISHES, lol). And it's kinda smacking of narcissist!Lestat using him then dumping him once he'd learned what he wanted, like Daniel & Louis implied later in the ep. (He even grabs Armand's hand & drinks w/out asking; mighty bold! Ok sure, he kissed it first, but still!?) But their dynamic is SO different in the books.
I have a looooot of issues with AMC!Magnus.
Excuse you!? Language! 😤
Armand wanna be called "Daddy" so bad. 😂
BULL.
EFFING.
CRAP.
AMC/Armand officially butchered how awesome Magnus was--he was never a Child of Satan/Darkness, or in a coven--he was a human alchemist who STOLE the Dark Gift from Rhosh's fledgling Benedict!
That means nothing, if you don't explain that Lestat is Rhoshamandes' great-grandson, and that Magnus was a WIZARD. 😒 And Armand said Les' turning was "MAYBE" a horror show? 🤨 How does he not know, if they were so close? 🙄 And how would he have even known Magnus was his Maker?
Oh no. "Come to me" was ARMAND'S theme the whole time!? 😱 Thanks, I hate it. 😭😂
LESTAT SAID KISS MY ARSE!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I mean, I would, too-the CoD/S lived like bums! The reason Magnus was so friggin rich and had all that money he gave to Lestat was strictly cuz he WASN'T a penniless bum like the other coven vampires--he hid himself away in his TOWER. (If we don't get the Lesmand tower scene Imma be so mad.) He had no Maitre/Master.
NGL, I expected the Children of Darkness/Satan to be WAY filthier. :P
So Armand really IS Indian then? As in Roma/Ukranian/Russian?
Sadly, they didn't speak on Lestat's Harlequin mask being Blackface. But woah. "Dervish" as in Muslim ascetics & mystic dancers? So was 1700s!Armand Catholic or Muslim? Is that what he thought of Lestat back then? Or what 2022!Armand thinks of him now? If the latter, Armand converted to Islam....WHEN???
Armand glossed over EVERYTHING that went down with Nicki. He seems to imply that Les got with Nicki AFTER they met, which is beyond untrue. (And not a word about Gabrielle being there for all of this mess--MIGHTY SUS.)
We know Lestat loves his gay panicking needy alcoholic bottoms.
THE FRENCH GIRLS ARE FIGHTING.
Oh lovely. More racists--I'm not even surprised; I never liked Nicki in the book anyway; bye Felicia. 🙄
Iiiinteresting way AMC/Armand gave Nicki's abduction. (Again, no Gabrielle--MIGHTY SUS!)
And LAWWWWD, lemme find out Armand was telling the truth abt him & Les knocking boots in their theatre box on some exhibitionist kink while vamp!Nicki mean-mugged from the orchestra. 😭
So Armand's still to blame for Nicki's death, but not cuz of the darkness of "self-loathing," but jealousy cuz Lesmand were an item? BISH PLEASE! 🤣
(TBF, Loumand still blames Lestat, saying he "abandoned" Armand & Nicki & the coven. Which...is not entirely true. Lestat gave Nicki the Theatre, but didn't want to be part of it or Armand's coven, so he left with Gabrielle, but still kept tabs on everyone via Eleni. So whatchu mean??????)
LOUIS SUICIDE WATCH, stop playing with me, AMC! I want to see these vamps greet the sun and "taste the fire"! (And they had the NERVE to put the commercial break there; I see you, AMC.)
They were SHOWING OFF Armand's Fire Gift in this episode--oh yeah, Louis DEFINITELY got it from him; I'm convinced now. (I'm still waiting to see if Santiago has it, too; I hope to god not though.)
Lestat was a MENACE! XD "It's a fallen tree." What a brat!
The Lesmand eye-f**kery was INTENSE--Samothy was serving~!
Don't you DARE tease me like that, AMC! YES! I want 2022!Lestat in that Dubai penthouse by the end of this season, PLEASE. 🙏🙏🙏
What does all that say? Looks Latin or French? And WTF is Armand doing biting himself? (Reminds me of Louis with Jonah.)
This is why I'm convinced that the whole "Rashid" ruse in S1 was strictly for Armand & Dan's benefit, cuz in QotD Armand specifically said Daniel was the only mortal who knew his name & lived.
Chile, this episode was A LOT, and that was just the first 20 frikkin minutes, wtf.

Smallville whump list (young superman)
Every story has a beginning!!
Synopsis: young Clark Kent struggles to find his place in the world as he learns to harness his alien powers for good and deals with the typical troubles of teenage life in Smallville, Kansas.
Whumpee: by tom welling
Episodes: 217 (10 seasons 2001-2011)
I feel like this list is more like a narrative of my own experience with this show 😂😂😂
_______________________________
Warning: i describe the whump in detail so if you don't want it spoiled i wrote the very whumpy episodes in red.
I advise you not to skip just to watch the whump watch the whole show you won't regret it 😭
S01
Ep1: falls over and looks weak and in pain because of kryptonite. Hit by a car and falls in the water but not hurt. Learns the truth about his origin and crying because of it in the graveyard (poor baby 😭). A guy picks a fight with him but he's got a kryptonite necklace so clark gets so weak, the guy wraps the necklace around his neck so he basically became helpless, guys carried him into a car, tied him up shirtless in a scarecrow and painted "s" on his chest (humiliation ritual), weak and shivering, asking for a guy to help him in his little SHAKY voice "get me down, please?" (Can you beg more? holly shit that gave me butterflies he looked in so much pain) (the guy didn't help him), calling for somebody to help, lex unties him and he falls on the ground
Ep2: close to kryptonite and starts feeling unwell (subtle he's trying to act fine). Opens a box with kryptonite and his hand starts shaking and turn blue and veiny. Ep4: pushed through glass door and falls on the ground. Sudden headache because his senses started getting sharper, panicked cuz he started seeing through people so he let go of the rope he was climbing and fell on his back. Sudden headache again. Pushed and fell off the window. Weakened by kryptonite, hit with a pool multiple times and falls on the ground

Ep11: shot multiple times and falls on the ground. Got multiple bruises from the bullets, his mom tends to them and he winces in pain
Ep12: feeling sick cuz of kryptonite. Struck by lightning and in pain (took away his powers), fails to use his strength and has nose bleed, exhausted after running and has a leg cramp, limping, another nose bleed. Hits his fingers while using a hammer and screams in pain. Having a hard time doing daily chores now that his strength is gone. Thrown away by someone and falls on a car, unconscious on the car with a bleeding head, a doctor wraps his ribcage, shocked to learn he'll be in this much pain for couple of weeks like a human 😂 winces in pain when hugged, in pain when moving. Slammed against a fence, then a wall

Ep11: pushed and falls on the ground. Kryptonite used on him then pushed down the stairs, kryptonite necklace wrapped around his neck, in pain (he's really that weakened by kryptonite that he can't even lift his hand to remove the necklace?? So helpless i love it) tied up while unable to resist. Hit with a pool and falls through glass
Ep12: has to jump from a building to save someone but afraid of heights (was so cute to watch his super nervous and trying to calm himself 😂😂), crashes through the glass of the building, collapses from kryptonite and in a lot of pain

Feels sick while talking to lana and passes out and falls down the stairs while talking to her, unconscious on the couch and a doctor examines him, blood sample taken from him (can be puncturd because he's weakened). Chloe talks to him while he's unconscious and caresses his hair, mutters lana in his sleep. Standing with a blanket and looks cold. Told to rest cuz he's too sick but still goes to help his dad but is so sick and helped to walk. Struggling to stay standing and looks on the verge of fainting and his dad is holding him up (he looks so fragile he had to be held up!!), cured (sadly)
Ep17: unconscious in the middle of the road (sleep walking or should i say sleep flying), wakes up confused (srsly that mf lex is EVERYWHERE). Sudden intense headaches (started developing super hearing). In a cave and hit with light beam in his chest then lex finds him unconscious on the ground and shakes him awake. One of the guys could actually grab clark's hands when he was trying to attack them. Hit with a pipe and flew through glass, slammed against a car, actually hurt and struggling to fight back
Ep21: affected by kryptonite
Ep22: sudden head pain. Hit by lazer beam by someone and is in pain

(The scar looks pretty bad) Trying to do something but is in a lot of pain and struggling, collapses, causes a massive explosion, unconscious under rubble, ripped clothes and covered in dust, woke up, coughing, leaning on something to get up, unsteady, runs up the stairs but falls (still weak), dazed from shock and guilt for causing harm on his mother and telling lana that all he does is bring pain and suffering to everyone's lives and that his dad looked at him like he was an alien (his dad was upest with him for not listening to him which hurt his mom), told lana to stay away from him or he'll hurt her too. Heartbroken watching his mother cry, thinks his biological father was right about him ending up hurting the people he loves, the gulit was tooo much for him he wears the red kryptonite ring to numb his feelings and runs away from home into a different city
_______________________________
S03
Ep1: spoilers again the same related emotional whump. as he's wearing the ring his scar started burning and he collapsed in a telephone booth, writhing in pain on the ground, the ring was causing the pain so he took it off and so he came back to himself and called his mom but didn't say anything but she still knew it was him and told him to come back home and he looked so heartbroken and about to cry but couldn't say anything to her and hung up the phone and wore the ring again 😭
(This is the best emotional whump I've ever seen so far (because of the kind of character he is) he was such a good kid but he must've felt so unwanted since he's adopted and screwed up everything for his family so he felt like he couldn't show his face to them again and couldn't bear the sadness to the point of wearing the ring again despite knowing the risks. Stray puppy 😭😭😭 they're such a cute family they raised a cute and pure kid 😭).
, Extreme pain again from his scar while arguing with chloe so he yelled at her to leave and when she did he collapsed on his knees and took off the ring to stop the pain. Jorel gave his father powers to go get him back home by force, he tackled him down and jumped with him from a building
Ep2: rough fight with his dad, dishevelled from the fight, extreme pain from the scar then collapsed for a sec. (You know you can keep acting badass and evil but you can't escape being adorable). Threatened they'd kill his parents so he had to give them his blood, since nothing can cut him he used kryptonite stone to cut his arm and was in a lot of pain and when he was done he collapsed on the floor, blurry vision. Motionless on the ground and the bad guys ripped his shirt to tape a kryptonite stone on his chest, they drag him into a truck and tape his hands and on their way to expose his identity (like an imprisoned kitten), in an explosion, got out of the water with difficulty
Ep3: collapsed from kryptonite, screams, on the ground and a guy puts the stone close to him to torture him. Shot with KRYPTONITE bullet through his hand and chest, falls and screams in pain, his dad rips his shirt and tries to extract the bullet with an knife and clark SCREAMS and he tells his to stay still, "he's not breathing", passed out the rest of the time it's being extracted (good for him), unconscious in bed and wakes up and says he feels a little woozy
Ep4: woke up anxious and confused from a long nightmare and his parents told him he slept for a day and a half. Sleep deprived cuz he's afraid to sleep and dream again, looks tired and sleepy. Fell asleep while driving (but not shown) and wrecked the car, dragged out of the car while asleep. In a dream: lifted by the neck and thrown away. Woke up startled
Ep5: keeps having glitches in his powers, sudden head pain because of heat vision, burns his hand from it. Tries to save a man from falling while he doesn't have his powers and struggles to hold on to the rope, has big cuts on his hands from holding onto the rope
Ep6: touched kryptonian symbols and got flashes of memories: stunned, breathing heavily and shaking and his dad tries to snap him out of it (DO IT AGAINNN)
Ep8: kryptonite used on him and beat up, weak and collapses on the floor. Emotional and sad hearing what lana said to him
Ep9: beaten up with kryptonite and collapsed on the floor, kryptonite put on his chest, put on stretcher, a guy trying to steal his powers, laying there helpless and can't move, struck by electricity to take his powers, convulsing, powers taken, picked up and thrown to the ground twice, bleeding face and moaning in pain
Ep10: affected by kryptonite, covering his ears from loud painful noises, kryptonite ray scars his retinas and blinds him, gets on his knees from the pain, has bruises around his eyes, helped to sit, wearing black sunglasses and helped to walk to school, dropping things, his hearing has sharpened and sounds are causing him extreme pain. helpless and can't save his friend cuz he can't see. Bad guy yanked his glasses off and moved fire close to his eyes and he screamed in pain. His vision returned a little but everything is blurry. In pain from noise
Ep11: hypnotised dad punches him with kryptonite multiple times
Ep13: affected by kryptonite, hit over the head with it (knocked out i guess but not shown), put in the trunk of a car with kryptonite, awake at the beginning then unconscious in there
Ep14: kryptonite used on him, collapses in pain, kissed against his will while he's weak (obsessed girl)
Ep19: went to a lab (trap), affected by kryptonite and hit over the head and falls down, taken for an experiment to discover what he is, put on lab table, clothes cut off, restrained and hooked to some wires, lowered into a tank full of kryptonite, convulsing, regaining suppressed memories, convulsions intensify and keeps screaming his mother's name, causes an explosion, lex found him unconscious and submerged under the kryptonite and breaks the tank, clark wakes up and asks lex to help him then closes his eyes again. Looks worn down and lex tells him he looks pretty messed up
Ep20: stabbed with kryptonite blade, collapses on the ground, stumbles to his house, ragged breathing (LOVE HIS LABOURED BRETHING AND STAGGERING STEPSSS), trying to grab the phone but collapses, parents come home to find him unconscious on the ground, rolled over, "barely has a pulse", bleeding a lot through his clothes, his mom slips on his blood and they're both horrified, his dad rips his shirt and presses on the wound to stop the bleeding (the amount of shirts ripped is immeasurable) and accidentally heals him and it leaves a scar, next morning clark is still unconscious and wrapped in a blanket and his parents are asleep next to him, wakes up in pain, struggles to get up. Thrown against a tree, a guy as strong as him is on top of him trying to stab him again with the blade
Ep22: blackmailed by his biological father
_______________________________
S04
Ep1: a ship or something dropped him to earth, found unconscious and naked in a field by lois, doesn't remember anything, wrapped in a blanket, taken to the hospital to be checked out, wearing hospital gown. he looks so peaceful and lost throughout the whole episode it's so cute he looks like a puppy 😂😂😂. On his knees from pain from noise. Fighting with himself (jorel), unconscious on the ground after the fight, wakes up and his mom puts his head on her lap and caresses his face
Ep3: affected by kryptonite gas, staggers, bashed over the head with a chair and falls, helped to get out of the place
Ep4: drinks a kryptonite laced juice without knowing and gags, tells the coach he feels sick but he forces him to continue playing, coach gave his team permission to bully him so they kept pushing him around, icing his bruises and in pain, at that moment his coach comes and beats him up to a pulp, bleeding face (was still weak from kryptonite). (Not whump but there was a girl on top of him pinning his hands over his head)
Ep5: affected by kryptonite and leans back on a disk. Kryptonite used on him and drops on the ground
Ep6: covers his ears in pain from noise. Swapped bodies with lionel and punched in prison in his body. Lionel slapped by lana in clark's body and martha uses kryptonite on him and he collapses
Ep7: tries holding kryptonite to make himself weaker so he can play in the team without hurting anyone. Someone commands him to choke himself
Ep8: hit with a wheel and falls. 3 witches possessing lana, chloe, and lois' bodies attack him with magic and lift him off the ground then he falls and collapses to the ground (magic actually hurts him), the 3 of them hold him down by his arms, bleeding face, "lana" rips his shirt (world record for ripped shirts) and puts her hands on his chest to strip him from his powers, passes out, laying unconscious on the ground. Arms chained up above his head and shirtless, heavily bruised face and bleeding lips, "chloe" digs her nails onto his chest and scratches him leaving a trail of blood (to get him to talk) and he screams, "lana" kisses him to get some info by magic. Jason unchaines him and helps him up. Clark burns the witch's book and the next moment he's waking up on the ground
Ep10: in Jason's dream: beaten up and passes out

Ep12: emotional whump: crying over someone's death and furious at the guy who killed them and almost kills him 😳. Feeling immense guilt over that person's death, looks super depressed over their grave (chloe's reaction to that matter was perfect and what she said to him 😭)
Ep14: got into a truck to save a dog from bad guys but accidentally breaks kryptonite bottles, collapses (omg he literally becomes so helpless near kryptonite he can't even lift himself up he just crumbles on the ground 😳), moaning, they lock him in the dog cage and attempt to burn the truck, the dog opens the cage and clark was leaning on the door so he falls when it opens (he can't even hold his weight yall), the dog drags him out of the truck and drops him roughly, clark tries to get up but staggers and falls
Ep15: collapses cuz of kryptonite. Attacked and knocked out with magic by the witch possessing lana (yo she can knock him out with ONE blow??? Magic affecting him that much is crazy), wakes up. In pain from ringing noise. Attacked with a magic blow again and flies across the ground. In a fight with the witch and she throws a knife into his chest and it bleeds, thrown again
Ep17: affected by kryptonite. Fake lex uses kryptonite on him and he collapses, punched hard that he fell out the window, bleeding cheek, gets up and collapses again in front of his parents, can't get up to help his dad
Ep19: attacked by an ability that wiped out all his memories. Affected by kryptonite, staggers, leans on the wall, tries to move away but collapses
Ep22: wakes up freaked out from a dream and his parents say he was yelling in his sleep and freaked them out. In pain from ringing noise. Gets to a room full of kryptonite and couldn't move away, collapses and passes out. Chole finds him passed out and drags him away by the arm

Ep5: around kryptonite and feels woozy. Vampire lana throws him next to kryptonite so he's immobilised on the ground then she sucks his blood, she takes him to the other vampires and puts him on the ground (unconscious), sick and talks to lana with difficulty (i guess when she bit him he got poisoned by kryptonite too since she turned into a vampire by kryptonite)
Ep7: cut himself on a sliver kryptonite which infected him with paranoia. Affected by kryptonite (hallucinating). Paranoid about everything and accusing people of betraying him and getting violent so chloe uses kryptonite on him. Looks SUPER sick and sweaty and anxious. Choking on gas (hallucinating). Hit with heat vision by a guy and he pins him down and injects him in the neck with a something to extract the poison "I'm sorry but this is really gonna hurt" and clark screams

Ep13: same spoilers: grieving and has bottled up anger (in denial). Punched and flew away. Kicked. A little affected by kryptonite. taking his anger on criminals. Kryptonite used on him & collapses, the bitch left him crumbled on the ground with kryptonite the whole time 😂. Finally accepting the death of that person and sobbing while hugging his mom (i haven't cried over a show in so many years seeing clark in that scene destroyed me idk why it hurts so bad yall is something wrong with me or was it actually this sad someone tell me) (I'm done with the show i still can't move on from this 😭😭😂😂😂)

Lex notices THERE'S BLOOD DRIPPINGGG DOWN HIS ARM he has a shrapnel stuck in it, lex pulls it out and wraps his arm with a cloth roughly (cuz mad) and clark grunts, has to walk through kryptonite in front of lex to make it out of a tunnel, so weak and unstable and keeps leaning on the walls to walk, leans against the wall and slides down, rubble with kryptonite falls on him and traps him, passes out, lex helps him to walk, bleeding through the cloth

I Feel You Linger In The Air (Rant)
I really needed to make this because I've finally discovered why so many bls fans (not everyone) keep ignoring this story in particular, which, in my opinion, holds the place for #1 bl of the year.
People are really not ready to watch great acting, great plot, great cinematography, great ost, great everything. You really have a period bl drama right in front of your eyes, but apparently one of the main excuses is that the relationship "goes really slow", and some people on Twitter and Reddit even said that Jom never shows his feelings just like in the novel, and that is always Khun Yai the one who gives affection. Let's go for the first one: first of all, are we watching the same show? Because we, as an audience, are fully aware that Jom was cheated on by his boyfriend in the present time, then he travels to the past and encounters this man (whom he has previously seen) and of course, he's shocked (both of them are since Khun Yai dreamed about Jom). You just can't expect a relationship to happen in the very first episode, that's not realistic, that never happens. This actually reminded me when Step By Step was airing and everyone kept complaining that "nothing" happened between the two mains, and the plot was slow, and people just stopped watching it. You really need to understand how relationships work: it takes time, and we need to follow the development, we need to feel those moments between the characters. The problem here is those really cringy, bad bl series with zero plot, terrible acting, and obviously having explicit s*x scenes in every episode, that made people forget about enjoying a great story and just consume any garbage content just for the sake of it, and I'm not going to make a list about those bad bls or those terrible actors because you all know who they are. The second one, do you really think Jom never showed his feelings towards Khun Yai? Once again, this is a character that has just been cheated on and got his heart broken by his long-time boyfriend. And let's not forget that this is an adaptation from a novel (yes, I read it), and every time a written work gets adapted into a series (or film) there are always going to be changes and situations in which all the production team has to work to make it as close as possible to the novel, but not the same in its entirety. Someone on Reddit said that they were happy because even though some scenes were changed from the novel, the dialogues were all the exact same and they were faithful in that sense, and I completely agree. Now, if you are saying that Jom doesn't show any emotion, you are coming for Nonkul's acting and I won't tolerate that. This drama has cast two of the best Thai actors in the industry. Both actors even said that they read the novel, and did plenty of research and preparation for their characters. So, no... you are not going to come for these two boys, because they are the best you will ever see.
And now, let's see some examples in which we can see Jom (slowly) growing feelings for Khun Yai: This already happens in EP2. Khun Yai looking so worried, asks Jom if he's feeling unwell and touches him so gently. Just look at Jom's face... I bet his heart made a jump because I know my heart would stop at that moment.
And what about the very next moment? Khun Yai: "It's like you've lost your blessing. Please, let me bring it back for you." (The softness in his voice...)
And Jom looks dazzled the whole time because he has this gorgeous gentleman talking to him like this, caring for him... Anyways, let's go to EP3. The scene in which Khun Yai tells Jom that he's buying clothes for him and Jom is surprised by this. And then, Khun Yai goes: "Do you like it?" (referring to the shirt)
And I bet Jom's brain was like: "Are we talking about the shirt... or you?". He just stares at Khun Yai like he's hypnotized (like more than 5 seconds, I'm not kidding). And what about this whole scene? Khun Yai: "If remembering makes you sad, just forget about it completely."
Here we have Khun Yai once again talking in his ever-soft voice (Bright's voice is just beautiful) and comforting Jom, knowing that he's suffering and having hard times, and Jom just takes and absorbs all this care and affection coming from the other.
When they come back, Jom thanks Khun Yai, he's grateful for everything, you can see it in his smile, and his eyes, and he exudes gratefulness. And then we see him looking at the bracelet that Khun Yai gave to him, and thinking about him... like come on, at this point we all know that Khun Yai is blooming in Jom's heart.
Right, let's jump to EP4. Jom becomes Khun Yai's majordomo and we have the scene in which Khun Yai shows Jom his new room. Khun Yai: "So now we're living under the same roof, Jom."
Look at him! He looks nervous and shy, taking in the fact that he's going to live with his crush and be with him 24/7, like imagine being as lucky as Jom... the boy is internally screaming.
The next scene, when Khun Yai is helping Jom with the typewriter, and Jom makes a mistake.
Khun Yai stops him by touching him and Jom's brain just stops working. My boy is gone, he just stares and stares.
And then, we have the scene in which Jom is helping dress Khun Yai. Jom: "So, why did you have to help me that much?" Khun Yai: "As I said earlier, I just want to choose what I want, and go by my wish sometimes."
LOOK AT HIM! HE'S GONE! WE LOST HIM! And besides he understands what Khun Yai is trying to say, Jom is no fool.
Khun Yai leaves and we see Jom like this: he's touching his face (an indicator that his face is probably burning) and he's internally screaming, please at this point we can feel Jom's sincere feelings.
Let's go to EP5. In the beginning scene, Jom sees things from the present time, and he starts screaming. Khun Yai makes his appearance, he's worried and he knows Jom is having a hard time once again. I want to emphasize how Khun Yai is in a drunk state in this scene, but that doesn't stop him from being the same gentleman, and comfort Jom in every possible way.
Khun Yai: "Jom, you're here with me. Just think of this as another home." (I screamed)
The entire scene is chef's kiss. Khun Yai's soft and caring voice, massaging Jom's forehead in an attempt to make Jom feel better and get rid of any negative feelings and thoughts. Caressing his face and then hugging him ever so softly, patting his head, every single gesture is just perfection, so full of affection. The silence in the scene, no need of dialogues, just them loving each other, and Jom being completely gone. He's completely aware that he likes Khun Yai.
Okay, EP6. We have a (very) jealous Khun Yai avoiding Jom and treating him kind of indifferently. In this scene, Jom looks hurt and worried that Khun Yai may be angry at him, and he basically makes Khun Yai explode.
Khun Yai: "Don't you know how I feel about you? Did my actions not reach your heart at all? Or should I write you a long poem? Or in what way should I tell you so that you can understand how I feel about you?".
Imagine your crush advancing to you like this... saying all those words... Jom was speechless, breathless.
Moving forward, Khun Yai finally directly confesses to Jom and asks him if he wants to be with him, and Jom agrees. I loved how Jom didn't reject him but explained to him that he was scared and worried about them becoming lovers and making Khun Yai's life difficult because of his family and society in general. Let's not forget that Jom comes from the present time in which until today LGBTQ people are still chased and k*lled, rejected, and seen as abnormal (I personally felt his speech because I'm bisexual and I know it's hard). And Thailand is still a conservative country in which gay marriage is not allowed, so like I said before: Jom is no fool and he's aware of the whole situation. But... love is stronger and our boys become a couple, and if after all this people still think that Jom has zero emotions or doesn't express himself... just go watch your empty bls in which the characters "fall in love" in the first five minutes like the most unrealistic thing ever.
I want to say that Khun Yai is the greenest flag ever, and Bright & Nonkul's chemistry is out of this world. I hope they work together again in the future because they are the perfect duo. Anyways, to all IFYLITA fans keep spreading the love and enjoying the best bl of the year, we can't wait to see these boys taking all the awards.
