Do you wish they just let the actors cry human tears, or do you like the blood tears? I agree that I like them not making it too bloody, and there's never been a point where I've been like, wait, shouldn't there realistically be more tears on their faces? Because people crying don't always have the tears spill over. And they do let them cry a lot, their eyes get red and wet and that's the main thing. Like the crying in the reunion scene is beautiful before the blood tear ever comes.

I like the blood tears, anon! I like the little ways the show reminds us that these characters aren't human without rendering them entirely inhuman either, and those sorts of details really work for me. I end up thinking a bit about their anatomy / bodily functions when I'm writing fic, which I'm aware probably sounds weird, haha, but them having more human bodily functions in the show than they do in the book is just something I find interesting to explore. I'm always curious as to how much their bodies actually still work - like their hearts obviously beat, but they don't seem to need to breathe (and I like the thought actually that they might still anyway out of mortal habit), and the men can obviously get it up in the show, but don't seem to need to urinate, so there's just these layers of functionality that plays out for plot (and both romantic and sexy, haha) reasons.

I do think in that sense though that it's logical their blood tears wouldn't be entirely blood (just as I think other bodily fluids wouldn't be either), because I think they've got more going on in their bodies still than the book versions of the characters do, which is all just a roundabout way of me saying that I think they've got more wiggle room around the crying than they're exercising, but yes! I like the blood tears, haha.

Ignoring the real possibility he intentionally let himself be caught from the little we know so far Luigi Mangione's case is a fascinating combination of astonishing brilliance and confusing stupidity. This young man plans and executes his assassination and escape with such a meticulous care and calmness that it's suspected that he's a professional hitman. He comes up with Riddler-sque moves like writing his manifesto poetically on the bullets and leaving his backpack behind full of Monopoly money. He carefully wears a mask to avoid being identified but removes it because a woman who was checking him into the hostel was flirting with him and wanted to see his smile. He still manages to escape the most surveilled city in the country in the midst of ongoing national manhunt only to get caught in the middle of bumfuck nowhere Pennsylvania while eating at the McDonalds. Because for some reason he had the same clothes and mask as in New York and was carrying the same gun and suppressor. And when the cops detained him he showed them the same fake id he used in New York. And oh yeah he's a frat bro gym rat who has a masters degree in computer science from Penn but reads stupid self-help books about being on the grind and is 'anti-woke' while being bisexual suffering from anxiety and wanting to end oppressive capitalism. Not even god himself could invent a person like this

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

Conclusions were drawn from their dialogue sounds and manner of speech in general in addition to my personal flair and interpretation.

And here's an incomplete list of mental notes on actually writing dialogue for characters:

Curly

expresses genuinely what he feels and what he means, though he's reserved and leaves a lot unsaid

casually playful and whimsical when talking to others or commenting on things

smooth talker

speaks delicately and de-escalatory when faced with a stressful situation

using british slang on occasion, yeah?

Anya

often encouraging or reassuring those she talks to

teasing, witty and playful with anyone not named jimmy

stutters when speaking to those named jimmy but outside of that, speaks smoothly with enthusiasm

speaks with implications, basically says iconic deep meaningful shit in a non-direct way

Swansea

mean, harsh, sarcastic and taunting

like anya, he says some deep shit but in a poetic and direct way

reminds me of Disco Elysium dialogue in terms of vibes

speaks grandiosely
