Now Danny would openly admit, if only to himself, that he had a type when it came to relationships. If they were strong, if they were a threat to him, then chances were he would develop some sort of crush. It was how he had dated Sam and Valerie (And Johnny & Kitty) when he was a bit younger, and hell, Sam had technically succeeded in killing him, even if partly. 

Attraction towards smart people who could kill him was honestly par for the course for a Fenton or Nightingale anyway. 

And he’d also admit he enjoyed a bit of time travel, learning about times and culture long before his time, to the point that he could blend in in ancient times just as easily as the time he had been born in. That it was natural to mutter in a language lost to time. 

So color him surprise when another man perks up in the bar he had paused to get a drink in, vibrant green eyes gleaming in interest and responds in turn. And not just in the language, but able to keep up when he talks about things that once existed but haven’t been rediscovered yet. 

And one thing led to the other, and there might have been some assassins and some shenanigans that end with them both laughing together in an inn and then more and- Okay he has a type alright, and he’s ticking each box! How is that fair?

Once again thinking about the fact that, per the Caleb Origins comic, Wulf is the reason Caleb spent 11 years in Vergesson. Just. What do you think haunts him more; killing his parents or the fact that in the span of a few seconds he damned one of his partners, someone who was engineered to be one of his closest bonds, to spend gods-know-how-long in one of the bleakest places in the Empire?

I'm only halfway through the second phase of Predathos (which, to be clear is an incredible vibe for a bossfight, love a good head & hands/multitarget-same-entity boss) but I cannot shake the feeling of disappointment and just dissatisfaction I have had with this campaign that definitely started with Dusk/Yu, got followed up handily with the first Delilah/Sun Tree fight and then has been unfortunately reinforced with every discussion surrounding the Prime Deities since Hearthdell. This campaign is fascinating to pick apart, I have been really enjoying pulling apart why it isn't working compared to C1 or C2. But as much as I'm having fun dissecting where the worldbuilding has led to the current weaknesses in the gods' argument or reading other people's incisive commentary on the lack of personalities on the Ruby Vanguard's end, the "girlfailure" nonsense, etc etc, man do I wish this campaign was better than it is.

There are so many avenues of improvement -

Matt telling everyone to prep and write characters for this campaign instead of a C2-esque character-focused campaign.

Matt working religious organisations into the world properly.

The cast engaging with Marquet as a genuine location rather than set-dressing.

Otohan, Ozo and the rest of the Vanguard having more than "*insert snappy line here*" for their personalities.

No Delilah.

Bell's Hells having an iota of curiosity for anything outside of their own selves, including but not limited to: the gods, religious worship, the Elemental Titans and why they were sundered, how the people of Exandria feel about the gods, Vasselheim and its role in suppressing information about Predathos, Ludinus Da'Leth's plan and how it would still break the world if they did it in his place

I don't know why all of this fell into place in the way that it did, but it did. We can endlessly speculate why - the cast resting on their laurels after C2, not having enough time between the animated shows and Daggerheart and Candela Obscura and, and, and - but at the end of the day I really do hope that whatever form the final campaign wrap-up takes, they burn the damn questions asking the cast "what if the world was made of pudding and this character and this character kissed?" and instead pick questions that get them to introspect for a potential Campaign 4. Otherwise I don't know what will happen, but it sure as hell won't be Mighty Nein part 2: Issylra Boogaloo.

I don't think Jayce and Viktor literally died. They were kind of pulled into another dimension/astral plane/whatever you call it. We see older Viktor, and while it could be another Viktor, I think it would be more meaningful if it was our Viktor, finally free from the arcane, going through the universe with Jayce, fixing timelines together. Kind of like a cosmic mission.

thinking about how IWTV loves to play with the theme of master and servant. thinking especially about that “yes, maître” and how armand’s first appearance onscreen, for almost the entire duration of s1, is in the role of louis’s “rashid.” thinking about how, when I first watched s1, it jarred me a little to see the authoritative, almost imperious way louis spoke to “rashid,” even after having endured to lestat’s tyranny himself, not to mention the tyranny of white people. it jarred me even more to realize that that had actually been armand—the ostensible love of his life—taking louis’s orders, bowing his head, saying things like, “I serve a god.” was that a strange and uncomfortable performance for the ancient leader of the paris coven? or was it perfectly natural for someone whose past means he defaults to the role of the subordinate, the submissive, the servant? is the relationship between the master louis and the servant rashid in fact the truest, rawest representation of the core dynamic between louis and armand?

horror is so BLESSED he's the only one out of the murder time trio that has actual good people trying to influence his story 💔💔 dust and killer were both driven to INSANITY because of the choices of their respective humans but horror??? every time without FAIL the polls for horrortale's plotline have always ended in a good place for aliza (either by bettering her relationships/reputation or for her to just. not DIE)

horrortale's potential alternate timelines my beLOVEd🙏🙏 they're SO lucky that we're being kind and benevolent hehe (≧ω≦) now where are the aus based off the possible different outcomes that could've happened in horrortale HUH???? (like how aliza couldve killed toriel or chosen horror's puzzle or gone with undyne to the core........)

and that’s a wrap on campaign 3! emotions post incoming. yes, I did get a drink just to toast the end of it, and yes, that is a little crocheted Beau (I did not make her!) who kept me company through watching m9, and who I got out for the bell’s hells finale too.

like lots of folks, I’ve had my complaints about c3, and particularly in the last year, life’s been Difficult and I struggled to keep up the whole time, but—god, I love these characters (all of them), I love this stupid game, and even though I’ve not been watching from the very beginning, it’s still been a Journey.

I started watching critical role with m9 in 2019, which doesn’t feel like that long ago but was (apparently!) six years ago, in a terrible room in a pretty shitty living situation. I’d just moved away from all my friends, was getting my teaching qualification, and was tired and broke and lonely. in the intervening years, a tonne has happened: I’ve moved house a few times and now have a (much much nicer!) flat with my partner where I can regularly host people I love, I’ve gotten married, I’ve qualified and been teaching for five years, I’ve gotten a lot better at dealing with some bits of my brain and body and inevitably had more things come up, but that’s okay, I’ve come out-out (if you know what I mean). and I’ve met so many wonderful people both in and outside fandom, and gone to cons, and written fanfic, and participated in exchanges, and connected with critters in this community, and even attended the m9 London live show, which was incredible in so many ways. watching critical role in the stressful, lonely, busy year that was 2019 was what gave me the courage to start DMing, and I’ve been DMing for some of my best friends for the last five years. and that, in itself, is a wonderful thing to have, and I’m so grateful to all of it.

I’ve always been a fucking nerd, and I’ve been in fandoms for most of my life. but critical role has been a special one for me. I’ve found so much fan connection, so much inspiration and joy to create, so much comfort in this show over the last six years. it’s been there with me for so many hours over lockdowns and commutes and friday-evening-post-work watching and while I’m crying and while I’m happy and while I’m reading fanfic on my phone at work and while I’m singing “your turn to roll” with 12k people at wembley.

so yeah. it may not have been ten years for me, but god. it’s been such a wonderful journey. and watching the finale last night/today and getting to see those threads come together and to watch the cast tell ends to stories that have been in the making for ten years or more—it has been lovely, and very emotional. and again, for all my issues with c3—I have had a wonderful time, and it was a really enjoyable finale.

I don’t know what comes next for exandria and for longform critical role campaigns, but this *did* feel like a bit of an ending, and yknow what? no matter what comes next, I’m not mad about that. it’s been such a good ride, critters. I’m very grateful I got to be part of it along with you all. I cannot fucking wait for divergence.

or in other words: thanks for the good story, Matt (and everyone else!). let’s do it again?

Idk if you've been asked this yet but if you haven't...

does the water park have underground tunnels? Like Disney level underground? Or not? because I know Disneyland uses them to allow cast members to get to their areas without being seen in clashing ones to "preserve the magic" and all that fun stuff (apparently they are longggg walks)

i was just curious if the park had them, and if so would underground races (literally) occur?

Interestingly enough in a way the waterpark DOES have underground tunnels but not quite like what Disney has. It’s a water drainage system for all the slides and pools. This way if any “incidents” happen everything can be properly drained and sanitized, and the boys figured out a way to run a water reserve for these exact instances so the watery attraction can be up and running in no time. But everything is still regularly filtered and sanitized regardless, the reserve is just for emergencies. Nothing really for the boys to traverse the park in.

Walking around Sun, Moon and the Tikis freely roam the park as they please so in a way their always in character, but still fairly genuine. (no need for backstage paths) You bringing up cast members made me really want to dive into what life is like for the boys around WB:D

Im trying to think how best to describe Sun and Moon and their work vs leisure time around the park and resort … hmmmm

Though Sun and Moon co-own Waterspark Bay and split up the work, they do favor particular roles.

Sun: More of the financial and legal responsibilities, he handles the business side of running WB. (its all self taught, this stuff is very fun and interesting to him, which is great because it eats up a lot of his free time after park hours). Sun also makes a lot of the big decisions for the park, one example being the major reconstruction/renovations made to Waterspark Bay.

Moon: Very similar to a manager, he manages his team (the tikis) and schedules, the leader in the day to day operational decisions. Most things are reported to him (Moon is the behind the scenes leader, he does a lot of multitasking with meeting guest and park needs throughout the day) My boy is a stickler for safety and rules but having said that he knows how to break them. (What a hypocrite)

(Typing this I’m just now realizing the irony of Suns heavy working hours being at night while Moons is during the day… wow)

The Tikis fill the role of the employees; guest services, cleaning, maintenance, security, all the staff needed to fill those other roles in running a themepark and resort .

The boys still do a lot of guest interactions throughout the day though because they love it! This is where they started, this is the heart of everything they do, connecting with people and making their vacation as magical as possible. It’s the best way to find out what needs improving and to catch issues in need of quick fixes. They want to make that connection with you because it matters to them that you are enjoying yourself and making great memories.

As far as they’re concerned the money that comes from the park is money that goes into bringing a smile to your face!

The boys do follow a schedule, but for the most part they walk around throughout the day wherever they feel they’re needed. They have the luxury to take a break whenever because they are comfortable and confident in the routine they built and if needed Sun and Moon could take an entire day off because the Tikis get the drill. (Moon would probably still be peeking at Tiki updates because he just can’t help it)

Yes even if they were on a break guests will still approach them wanting to talk, ask questions or take photos but they don’t mind they’re always happy to interact. (If the boys really wanted a break they know how to get it, empty resort rooms, in-between closed dinning hours, low guest traffic times, staff/maintenance areas etc.) but I would say they do most of the approaching to guests, people walk up to them maybe around 15 times a day which isn’t a lot. And guests typically don’t approach if Sun or Moon are currently talking to someone. *wink *wink

Who did Hobie make watches for?

Going through the movie and pausing at every scene with Hobie to look for more details for the 100th time and I just wanted to share something I noticed:

We know that Hobie made a watch for Gwen but not everyone in the new spider-gang are wearing watches made by Hobie in the end as far as I can tell:

We see Pav wearing a watch, it's a bit hard to see in detail (especially since he isn't wearing one in his own dimension to compare it to) but I'm assuming that Hobie made this one since it doesn't look at smooth as the spider-society watches. Also:

Pav's watch doesn't appear to have the lines around it like Hobie's does when he's wearing his HQ watch.

It's kinda hard to tell if Noir is even wearing a watch due to his coat but since we didn't see him at the society when the other members of the old spider gang (Peter B. and Penni) showed up I'm assuming he maybe wasn't even part of the spider-society (or maybe he just didn't want to help stop Miles from preventing his canon event). So my guess is Hobie made a watch for him too.

Both Ham and Margo appear to be wearing HQ watches (which means that maybe Noir is too since Ham apparently was a member of HQ even though he didn't show up earlier so maybe it's the same with Noir, what do you guys think?)

This makes me wonder if Hobie didn't have the time/resources to make more watches since I feel like them wearing HQ watches might be a disadvantage as Miguel might be able to track them (though maybe Hobie has disabled the tracking in their watches, it wouldn't suprise me if that was the case.)

Hobie is obviously wearing a watch he made since he ditched his old one when he left HQ.

I honestly couldn't get a close enough look at Peni to tell which watch she's wearing lol.

Peter B appears to still be wearing his HQ watch but it's kinda hard to tell for sure, it just looks kinda smooth to me.

But a cute detail I noticed is that Hobie might have made a day-pass for MayDay! It could also just be the one from HQ BUT she's not wearing it in the scene where Gwen shows up:

It could just be the lighting but it looks like the one she's wearing at the end is a lighter shade of blue than the one from HQ)

So until we're told otherwise I headcanon that Hobie made a special day-pass for MayDay (which is super adorable if you ask me <3)

DC should give the Wonder Woman title to me instead of Tom King. I have whole arcs about Diana as a diplomat, politician, and teacher that I could write. DC PLEASE LET ME FIX HER JOB, DO AMAZONIAN WORLDBUILDING, AND BRING BACK HER CIVILIAN SUPPORTING CAST AGAIN!

Diana busts up an artifact smuggling ring and then has to deal with the international repatriation of ancient artifacts to their home countries. Bring back Helena Sandsmark and use Cassie in a supporting role.

Some major international incident occurs and Diana is running herself ragged trying to deal with it from multiple ends. She eventually has to choose between fulfilling her duty as Wonder Woman and dealing with the realities of being Themiscyra's official diplomatic presence at the UN.

Diana and Artemis have to work together to save some human trafficking victims and I get to write an exploration on the Themiscyran Amazons' isolationism vs. the Banas' interventionalism as methods of protection, self-defense, and dealing with collective trauma.

While setting up a cultural exchange project between the different Amazon tribes, Diana is appointed as the neutral representative to oversee an all-Amazonian Olympics/games festival. Shenanigans ensue as the goddesses start picking favorites and the games get gatecrashed by a mythological threat (aka "what Trial of the Amazons should have been about")

Diana, Artemis, and Donna decide to take Cassie and Yara on a traditional Amazonian coming-of-age journey. The story acts as a way to explore important touchstones of Amazon culture and the differing cultural and societal expectations they might face as adult women, both in their respective Amazonian tribes and in Man's World.

Nubia enlists Diana to go with her through Doom's Doorway to help retrieve some Amazons who were sucked in by a mythological threat while on guard duty. If they're still alive, they will be brought back to Themiscyra in celebration. If not, their bodies need to be retrieved for funerary rites and the women's re-entrance into the Well of Souls.

Exploring Donna as a linchpin connection point between the human world, all of the Amazon tribes, and the gods.

And so many others, because these are all largely Man's World and worldbuilding stories. Digging into her actual rogues gallery (Circe! Ares! Silver Swan! Doctor Poison!) and setting up bigger conflicts would be so much fun.
