sooo. im thinking a bit about what cosplay im gonna make next, and i think ive narrowed it down to a couple options, but i want you to have all the options!

other options on the list include: Sailor Neptune (school uniform) - Sailor Moon (i think ive got a group for this!), Janet - The Good Place, Loki - Avengers Academy (the one i started last year), or Female Stede - Our Flag Means Death. a lot of these projects i have some level of plan for & wanna do some day, i just have stronger opinions on Kyoko/Toph. but if any of those sound more interesting to you! i am down. i wouldnt list options i didnt want

Kyoko is a costume that i have been planning for SO long, and finally feel like my skills are somewhere where ill be able to do her justice. i have a lot of the materials for this costume, including the wig, and even have a pattern plan for the main part of the garment. HOWEVER. my main material is velvet. and none of my other materials are any nicer to work with. i want to make the boots from scratch, i want to learn new wig making techniques, i want to make the spear to its full potential. this is going to be a big, complicated, time consuming project, and ill probably put it down at least once for my own mental wellness. its a dream costume of mine and i want to do it justice. its going to be a challenge, super technical and precise, but i think itll be worth it. its also going to be less comfortable, corset & velvet are not... the best con combo (also its a shorter skirt than i usually like, so ill be emotionally uncomfortable)

(also the more i think about it the more im... eh about the colour of my main velvet so um. might end up rebuying that)

Toph on the other hand, i have none of the materials for. i do have a source idea for the cream fabrics but nothing else at all. my design plan is sorta NATLA inspired- still the animated Toph costume, just drawing on the fabric and textures the netflix show used (especially with the Kyoshi warriors), which means some Sourcing will have to be done to find fabrics with the right weight & drape for my plans. this style of looser patterning is also new to me, not to mention pants.... though i think Toph would be a good project to avenge myself there honestly.

in general, this is gonna be a much easier make, and a nice comfy costume for cons, but at the same time, its a lot of expense out the gate, fabric shopping i dont neeeeed to do, and definitely still has some areas that test my skills (wig in Particular). i havent put as much time and energy into thinking about this build, but it has been on my list for some time and i wont regret making it.

(pictures of the others i mentioned. obviously no picture for my stede design but i was thinking of drawing inspo from the historical dresses in the show- some of marys, and evelyns, and the crowd scenes- and obviously stede himself, and then also reference real history. i dont own anything suitable for this time period so the first project would be stays i suspect!)

thematic headcanons.

night-themed headcanon: technically two because i can.

1). akari doesn't associate with the moon for a very long time. to get why this even matters, i have to talk about something else first: my general thoughts on the silver crystal is that it is the cosmos crystal - just not fully evolved. i believe that when chaos talks about how cosmos became a 'true star', it is in reference to the silver crystal's creation which was cosmos, the entity, becoming a star seed. i do not believe the silver crystal is actually genuinely tied to the moon - it became a chosen font of power for it eventually. why? i don't know and am okay with not thinking of an answer as i believe not ever blank needs to be filled. ( with that said, my friend @/divinehope has a great headcanon related to the moon kingdom that i love very much and will always recommend their blog ).

essentially, the true source of the moon monarch's power comes from the galaxy cauldron - and considering the moon needs a light source to shine, what better source would there be than the very heart of the galaxy itself. this is why 'sailor moon' eventually blossoms into 'sailor cosmos' instead of something such as 'cosmic sailor moon' or something. so with all that said, the moon is associated with akari's self-perceived failures: she has failed people in her past, her present, and will continue to do so in the future. she hates that she has the cosmos crystal and learning that not only did she inherit this awful power but learning its true origin makes her feel like everything she's known across her various lives has been a lie. as a result, she hides her moon birthmark, doesn't ever wear her royal gown, draws no power from the moon, etc. she's capable of using all of her old items as sailor moon ( as seen with chibi chibi ) but doesn't. she just wants no association with it anymore - at least pre-stars.

2). akari can like, talk to stars. considering the implication in stars is that all living things are born from the cauldron via star seeds, stars are 'alive'. can they speak back in full blown conversations? no, it's more like them radiating their feelings for her to decipher and understand. they like being sung to and radiate immense joy when she is nearby. they love her and see her as their champion. for a very long time, they were the closest thing to friends that she had during the war.

plant-themed headcanon. she isn't good at taking care of them and generally dislikes 'nature' outside of very specific conditions and is too accustomed to the cold, sterile nature of space ( aka she can sprint across the galaxy in heels but mildly complains about having to walk a basic trail on earth ). in all seriousness, she enjoys the gift of plants, flowers, etc. but they're mostly going to die unless her husband just rescues adopts them ( because as the closest thing this series has to sailor earth, he is suffering watching her ). that or she slightly abuses her powers to keep the plant alive lol.

I have kinda mixed feelings about this year. There were some low points, but then there were some high points too.

I was mostly busy with almost nonstop dogsitting sessions and zine work, but they really ate away at my personal time, especially during the middle of the year. On top of that, I kept job hunting for the first half of the year but it was going nowhere. It really broke my spirit, to the point where just thinking about job hunting made me feel depressed, and I needed to step away from it. All of this combined, I dealt with burnout, discouragement, feeling lost, and stressed to the point of developing a excessive hand-washing compulsion during the summer, which I'm still trying to shake off. I wonder if I also lost a bit of myself along the way, often not feeling absorbed in the moment.

And yeah, this low period also showed in my art summary for the year. I only published a few sketches if they weren't zine works.

That being said!

It wasn't until December that things felt like they were starting to get back on track. I finally got a chance to draw for myself again, and I think the interest I had in this showed in these last few pieces. I felt a lot more comfortable drawing these pieces. I was also finishing tasks in December when I wanted to finish them, and I'm now feeling more accomplished and less ashamed of myself.

On another note, we had great weather this year! There were no wildfires to watch out for (at least, that I was aware of), no nearby smoke or really bad air quality, and not much hot weather! Also lots of rain and cool weather in the first half of the year, it was really pleasant! It really helped with our drought crisis!

As for other accomplishments:

I went travelling for the first time since lockdown! (though even with official safety precautions being relaxed, I still continued to be careful)

Started some serious cleanup, both at home and on the computer

Going to the cinema again for the first time since lockdown!

I turned 30, which does feel kinda weird because I certainly don't feel like I'm that age. I spent some time while I was 29 kinda fretting about it, but if it makes me feel a bit better, 30 is technically the last year of the 20s. I felt like more could have been done in my 20s that I would look more fondly on like I would for my first two decades, but then again I was dealing with hardship and then healing during my 20s (though it wasn't all bad) I can only hope that I can make my 30s more what I want.

Now then, onto the resolutions:

Image descriptions: Because my mind was preoccupied due to working on other things, I never got around to making any image descriptions this year. On top of that, I ran into a dilemma on where to put these descriptions (do I use alt text? or do I keep writing it in the text box because I hear the alt text can be buggy?) Hopefully I can find a solution and make good progress this year.

Language learning: I think I progressed well in my Japanese learning this year (I watched a video of a N5 test review, and I only got a couple of mistakes, so I think I qualify? Not a huge accomplishment, but it still feels good to pass some kind of level) I'd like to add another resource that involves writing or speaking, if not communicating with someone (that'd be a difficult goal, since I'd need to figure out where to find a conversation partner)

Storywriting: I'm in the middle of writing my next chapter for KalChi, though burnout created a roadblock for me. The chapter after that should be a bit easier though, so I'd like to get more than one chapter published this year. Also… I have another story I'd like to get started on soon (hopefully I'll have news about this in the 4th quarter of the year) I'd also like to try and find a proper website to put my stories on, such as Wordpress. I'm open to suggestions!

Other fun things: Find more things to do outside of what I normally do. It got a bit monotonous for me this year, and I was really itching to see some local stuff again.

Relax: This is the most important! I made this my resolution last year, but I didn't follow it at all, and I think I did worse this year in regards to self care. I really want to plan out my personal time better so I'm not either rushing to get a lot done at once or feeling bored out of my mind.

I also want to continue to keep up with friends! I think I did a little better this year, but our main issue was schedule coordination. But I feel like my ability to communicate has suffered a bit, so I need to keep that up too.

I already have the art so it's a shame if I can't fix him, I shall untransphobize this character! yeah.... this is embarrasing. I hate my old approach. Man why did this memory have to come back to me?

With fanfics, there is no fics, I am not planning any fics. It's only possible for me to write one on the spot if I feel passionate in the moment, but they are probably dead by now, I have original ideas now.

😈 Is there anything you enjoy doing that you think your readers hate?

I like to troll. It's tempting but I try not to. I always have a big temptation to ruin the whole story or put something fucked up on it, therapists aren't real so it can't be helped

Sometimes it's spite. It bothers me in any ways (anger, sadness, annoyance, hopelessness) the state of people online today, sometimes it's mockery.

I never do it because it doesn't help, but it's on my mind. If I really want to change things, I either become jesus, or I make party week real and big time and create a whole community of people. Healthy communities are a cure.

yes, and no one cares, I like that they don't care. I always lie about what I am writing about.

I am secretive, but if your life is too far from the truth then you are going to have problems keeping it up. I had lied about multiple professions and careers, and I had been involved in all of them they are just not my job.

uuuh.... I don't do fanfic anymore. It would have to be one where I see missed potential that a fanfic could take advantage of since they can take it in a different direction.

I guess Blue Archive, black souls, or vtubers or touhou. I think my little pony is a really good one if I really get into it, but I can never get into it, it can't engage me, I fall asleep. Despite of that, I don't have to watch the show to know it's excellently developed.

I lost my love for sonic, but if I liked it as much as before, I would. It's a crime I had never written one on sonic. The only reason I didn't was probably because of school.

2024 Fanfic in Review

List of fics completed this year Yuri!!! On Ice Solace Inconvenient Crush (Current WIP) Sailor Moon Eternal Dream (actually written a few years ago, but only posted this year) Waking From A Dream

Number of words written: 124,934 words posted, but not all of them were actually written this year. Like I said above, "Eternal Dream" was actually written all the way back in 2021 (I think? Maybe 2020.) for the Drops of Moonlight zine, but manufacturing delays meant I wasn't allowed to post it online until this year. And I think I wrote most (if maybe not all) of "Solace" at the end of last year. A lot of "Inconvenient Crush" was also written a while back, so it's really hard to say how much I actually wrote in 2024 (keeping in mind what hasn't been posted of IC yet)!

Your most popular fic: Definitely "Solace", with 64 kudos.

Your personal fav: "Eternal Dream", probably?

Your fav scene: I really like the scene at the diner where Otabek agrees to be in a secret relationship with JJ in "Inconvenient Crush". I don't think I actually wrote it this year, but it was posted this year, so I'll count it.

A fic or scene that challenged you: I wouldn't really call it a "challenge", but I think "Inconvenient Crush" is the fic I've actually researched for the most, especially concerning this final arc, taking place on a camping trip at Elora Gorge in Canada. I'm sooooo not the camping type! I went a couple of times with my Girl Scout troop -- not unlike JJ's cousin, Camille -- but that was about thirty years ago, and the troop leaders took care of the tough stuff like building fires, so about all I really knew about camping beforehand was what I learned while watching Laid-Back Camp. *laughs* So, yeah, the camping scenes have been a struggle to write. (None have been posted yet, BTW, although the camping trip does start in the next chapter, which I plan to post on New Year's Day.)

A line of writing you’re proud of: Oh, man, I don't know. I guess I like the vows I wrote for "Eternal Dream"? Especially when they're exchanging rings: "This ring is a symbol of my eternal promise to you. Accept it, and know that I am yours and you are mine, forevermore." Again, I didn't write that this year, though. Hmm, I think I wrote this little exchange between Otabek and JJ from "Inconvenient Crush" this year that I find amusing? "Do you still consider yourself a virgin, since we apparently haven't 'gone all the way' yet?" "I…don't know? Kinda? Technically?" He arched an eyebrow. "You're 'kinda technically a virgin'?" "Well, it sounds kind of stupid when you say it like that," JJ muttered, stabbing at a piece of celery with his fork.

A comment that touched you: All of them! (Well, except the ones that were from obvious bots or scammers, of course. Also, I got into an argument with one commenter on an old Sailor Moon fic of mine who kept insisting that it was a terrible story because it mixed canons (it did not -- I do mix canons sometimes, but not in that fic) and that it was mostly an original anime-based story despite me (the author!) telling them several times that it was it was an entirely manga-based Alternate Reality fic, with the first scene pretty much being a novelization of a scene taken directly from the manga. That was annoying. (And I still don't know why they felt it was based on the original anime. They brought up another ficlet of mine that they claimed mixed canons, but that one actually was 100% based on the original anime, showing Hotaru's POV of a scene that didn't even happen in the manga, so they just seemed very confused about canons... I don't even know. Probably just should have ignored them, honestly.))

Something that inspired your writing: "Eternal Dream" was directly inspired by @floraone's Haruka/Michiru wedding fic, "I Pledge Myself To You". I just loved the idea of creating another culture's wedding traditions and had a lot of fun envisioning what an Elysian wedding ceremony might be like.

Your proudest accomplishment: Sailor Moon Rare Pair Week again, I guess?

Do you have any writing goals for next year?: Finish "Inconvenient Crush". That's pretty much it, along with writing a short one-shot for a project one of the Discord servers I'm in is planning. After that, I need a break. I won't say I'm going to retire from fic-writing, because there are a couple of unposted stories I would really like to finish, but I've been feeling burned out for a while now, so I think I'm just going to take at least a few months (maybe a year?) to just chill, read a lot of fanfics I've been meaning to read, and play a lot of Sims.

My opinion on all the precure seasons:

Precure: great start to this franchise. However, I really don’t like how they sidelined cure white in favor of cure black and I wish we could have seen more of her character.

Max heart: it ok but not as good as the first season.

Splash star: extremely underrated. It’s a great and the characters are cute. Though cure bloom’s outfits were super ugly.

Yes 5: one of my favorite. The villains were fun and the characters are great except for milk.

Gogo: straight up trash and deserves to be deleted from existence. First season in the franchise that was awful.

Fresh: way better than the last. This one was amazing and the costumes were cute.

Heartcatch: a masterpiece. It was great from start to finish. Cure blossom is my favorite cure of all time and I wish there was more cures like her.

Suite: a train wreak. It was trash from start to finish. The very first original season that was awful. The outfits were terrible, the characters were stupid af and the story was a mess. I also wonder how toei let the guy behind this trash be the director for sailor moon crystal. He should never be allowed near a magical girl show again.

Smile: way better than the last trash ass season. It’s iconic and all the cures were great. I liked the fairy tale theme and I learned a lot about Japanese fairy tales from this season.

Doki Doki: there are no words to describe how bad this season is. The characters were either poorly written or completely pointless. The story was awful and the morals were terrible. At least the music is great.

Happiness charge: bootleg heartcatch. It’s like Toei wanted another season like heartcatch but didn’t put anything effort into the season. There was only one good character in the season and the story was a mess. It was so forgettable too.

Go princess: it had a few issues and I didn’t like some of the side characters like that loser tennis player but I liked the season. I loved the princess theme.

Maho: technically this season was poorly written but I loved it so much! It’s so cute and charming. The characters were great and this season had the best romance between the two main cures. It’s the gayest season of the show!

A La mode: this season was bad and toei should feel bad for making this trash! It had so much potential and I loved the theme but toei just fumbled it.

Hugtto: way better than the last one and I liked it. However, there was major issues with the story and it was kind of confusing.

Star twinkle: like the last one, this one had major flaws with the story. It was ok but I liked the designs of the characters.

Healin good: it was alright but I did love some of the storylines and themes in the show. It was ironic how this season happened during a major health crisis.

Tropical rouge: great season. Though I didn’t like how it heavily focused on Laura and how some of the cure were underdeveloped but I still loved it.

Delicious party: it was so forgettable. I can’t even remember what happened in the show other than black pepper. I would take it over other awful seasons like suite and Doki Doki though.

Soaring sky: it was great. I loved everything about it and it was amazing from start to finish. I did wish that cure wing had some more scene time.

Wonderful: straight up trash. It’s so boring and the season just started . Taking out fights is one thing but making the conflict uninteresting is what kills it. No villain to fight against, no goals to fight for, nothing! How would a kid find this interesting to watch? It makes a la mode look like a masterpiece and that is really saying something.

[Note: Even If The Drawing itself isn't Mature, but the tags that are being used for this is "not for kids" and "mature audience only" because of ideas that involve Sinnerling Orphanage and how the more dangerous sinnerlings need to be watched and keep them away from the other sinnerlings for safety reasons. and there is also a idea about very protective Hell-Storks, and how half of the Sinnerlings end up being babies, which could be very rare and not happen as often, but even if they are called Sinnerlings like the much older children, the baby ones are still very innocent and the Hell-Storks are very VERY protective of them and well it explains it in this, even if I talk about Sailor Moon first before talking about the drawing and the weird idea I have about a Sinnerling Orphanage and how it works.]

I drew this on December 31, 2023....so yeah, last year.

I was going to post this some hours ago today/January 8, 2024.

but I ended up going to sleep after watching some episodes of Sailor Moon, which I had just found out that only half of the English Dub has Sailor Moon go by Usagi, and after you finish the ones where Chibiusa goes back to the Future, it turns out the next DVDs so far after that, that has the next season....while still having the english subtitles so you can technically watch it without being censored...

so yeah, if Usagi has that voice actress and she's called Serena...

it means that it is the dub version where they will have that lie about Haruka and Michiru being "cousins" when really they aren't.

and I decided not to watch all the episodes on that, and check the other DVDs, so even FishEye...

if ya are gonna put DVDs of the English Dub together, make sure it doesn't mix with the censored version where they basically lied about Haruka and Michiru being cousins, at least the first half of the DVDs keep the original version...well I guess maybe it's only half the DVDs that has that English Dub version...I can try to watch the episodes of the season where Haruka and Michiru appear in later, with the original language and have the English subtitle with it.

at least they aren't saying Sailor Uranus wrong, even if it is a English Dub that I can still like, but at the same time I wanted to watch a English Dub version where Haruka and Michiru aren't censored and that lie about them being cousins...

maybe I will watch Sailor Moon Crystal Series later, maybe to make sure the English Dub on the DVDs of it did some form of justice for those two...well, it is possible the Sailor Moon Crystal Series does have Haruka and Michiru as love interests of each other, and don't have them as you know...

should make sure to not mix certain English Dubs with the more better ones who don't lie about two characters being cousins.

I mean I know I once thought they were cousins when first seeing them on Sailor Moon, but then I learned that those who did the dub where Usagi goes by Serena, that Michiru and Haruka aren't cousins.

I mean they could of made it so those two as childhood best friends who lost touch for a while until the day Haruka awaken as Sailor Uranus, but having them be cousins when really they aren't and hiding the fact they were more than just friends...

so yeah, it sucks they mixed that English Dub version in with the English Dub version that isn't censored...I will try to watch that season again another time, along with the one where people's dream mirrors are being targeted...I will watch Sailor Moon Crystal later...

if I had known before that they were going to mix different English Dubs together, ones that aren't by the same people who do English Dubs for Sailor Moon....ya don't mix them up, you put them in a separate box or case, so of course I'm going to be disappointed...

but maybe once in a while I watch that English Dub version, but I would preferred to watch the version where Haruka & Michiru isn't censored, which one of my hopes is to see it in the new series version of Sailor Moon that is Sailor Moon Crystal.

it also sucks what English Dub of Sonic X did to Chris, who turns out had parents who are a bit in the Gray...

so yeah Chris Thorndyke's Mom & Dad are Gray-Parents.

and the English Dub lies about that too, which it might be important to get both the English Dub and the version where it does have English Subtitles and hopefully isn't censored to hide the fact that Chris's parents kinda sucked, even if they do love their son but like Chris's Mom could of turned down the part in the movie and picked spending time with her son, yeah Cream still had a right to be mad because she was away from her Mom...

but Chris's Parents are Gray-Parents, even if some Gray-Parents aren't always so bad, and at times you don't figure out a beloved cool parent character is a Gray-Parent until you get to the next season.

Greg Universe was a Gray-Parent, and we didn't even figure this out until Steven Universe Future where he takes Steven to where he lived...I think both Greg and his parents are at fault.

both sides could of had some kind of compromise, plus Greg's Mom or Dad might of not allowed him to have music because he would always turn the volume up too loud, and it could be possible his Mom or Dad could go into pain from the volume because of them being sensitive loud sounds...

it's like ya can still like Greg, but then you realize that even when you like him, he didn't take Steven to a doctor once or even let him go to school, even home schooling would of been great, and the teacher would either come to Steven's home or do their classes online with other students who do home school.

I still don't like how Greg said to Steven "your a Gem, your not like other kids." he might be so, but he could of said your Half-Gem, Steven is still Human, and Connie's Mom has a right to be a bit mad at Greg for never taking Steven to the Doctor.

even if it does turn out that Isaac Sumdac is a bit of a Gray-Parent, but at least he made sure Sari had Tutor-bot...

but he could of made a Doctor-bot and Nurse-bot to make sure to take care of Sari if he needs a check up and take care of her when she's sick.

Blitzo's Dad ain't really a Gray-Parent, he is more of a Toxic-Dad, and that goes for Stolas's Dad as well, who pretty much sucks at Daddying...

Paimon makes Phenex seem like a better parent in comparison.

like even if a Earth Angel's Soul Name is Small Lilith Amethyst Phenex, it would be likely Phenex wouldn't be the one to raise her and when the the said Earth Angel was born, she had to be given to a Caretaker, a Angel that is a Caretaker is possibly those who act like surrogate parent to a newborn angel, even the hybrid ones that are earth angels...

even if we might not see Eddie in any future episodes, it would be interesting if in the Fanon Timeline, he became a Sinnerling.

a Sinnerling is a Sinner Demon who was formerly Human, but are a child...

plus it would make sense that even Martha & Ralphie's kids become Sinnerlings....as for children who end up going to Heaven, which thanks to a video talking about the Cards, I learn that those who do end up going to Heaven in Hazbin Hotel, are called Winners.

well maybe the children would be called Winnerlings.

I also learned about Sera and Emily, and Emily seems like the type that would be on Charlie's Side, but we wont know for sure until we see how she's like in the show.

and if Emily & Charlie end up meeting and forming a bond, and that bond forming like family type where they form a sisterly like bond...

and yeah it is possible that some fan theories about Sinner Children, could be right....that like the Adult Sinners, they will be stuck as children...possibly both physically and mentally, not really growing up.

but in theory, it could be possible for them to grow up both physically and mentally even if originally they stop when they unfortunately lost their life in the Human World.

anyway like I said about the possibility of Sinnerlings being able to grow up and age, it might only be possible if they wear a certain Gem or Crystal (that is NOT the Asmodean Crystal) and they have to wear it on a day and month on their birthday if they want to turn the Age they would of been when they were still living in the human world.

some Sinnerlings never had a family or did but still end up living in a Orphanage in the Human World before wrongfully ending up in Heck...well those who run the Orphanage for Sinnerlings, could have the special crystals (again NOT the Asmodean Crystals) that is given to the Sinnerling's adoptive parents, either they be Sinners or Hellborns.

of course those who run the Orphanage For Sinnerlings, know better than just to give the child to anyone, and even if it is Hell, they might have some morals to know not to let any harm come to either Hellborn or Sinnerling Children and to keep them safe.

there could be some Orphanages that have both Hellborn and Sinnerlings in it, of course that would still be in Fanon...

but even in a Orphanage where it has both Hellborn and Sinnerling Children living in the same building, when a Sinnerling is adopted by their new parents, those who run the Orphanage will give the new parents a Crystal that is suppose to help the child grow up, and if they choose to stop using it at some point when they become a adult, that would be their choice.

some of the Sinnerlings, can end up being babies, which could be seen as very rare and there is one way that can happen...

and it has NOTHING to do with not being baptized...

like even if the babies either being newborns or from the ages 1 to 3 years old, are still called Sinnerlings, but they would still be innocents.

like in the Fanon, when the Cleansing Day, even if those Exorcist also called Exterminators try to harm those babies and even the other children....they could end up having a protective bubble around them that those Exorcists can't get through, so they can't pop those bubbles no matter how much they try...

because those children are under The Great Goddess's Protection.

yeah, I know that Omni-Mom will likely never be mention in both Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, which is why we have the Fanon.

and I can't help but wonder if how the Feminine Energy, being treated the way it was, counts as abuse...?

and yeah, I still refuse to let certain Eon-Boomers hurt Omni-Mom and hurt the balance between the Masculine and Feminine, even if it has gotten a bit better and healed, even if it's still in a fragile state, and it may have that toxic feminine energy in it, which isn't as dangerous or high as the toxic masculine energy...

of course some toxic-feminist don't really help the cause, and at least the Moxie Movie does better, even if the main character loses her way for a while and hate on guys who don't deserve it.

anyway it might make sense that Eddie would be a Cat, because it references to his words of being a "Cat Person" and well because of that, I decided to draw him as a Sinnerling Kitten.

it could be possible that because he died in Hell instead of the Human World, it could take much longer for his soul to reform and end up in Sinnerling Kitten form in Hell, and instead of falling from the sky, like most Sinners do, he would likely wake up in the meeting room of I.M.P. and wont figure out he is a anthropomorphic kitten until he leaves and looks in a mirror.

even if Sinnerlings who do end up dying in the human world, do end up coming from the sky, those who are still babies would likely get a Hell-Stork fly to where they will fall but catch them and have them in one of those blankets and take them to the Sinnerling Orphanage.

the Hell-Storks are lucky not to have to do that job too much, only on rare times...and it only happens because of stupid humans in the living world.

yeah the idea might be Fanon, but it could work very well in the Fanon Timeline....so a Hell-Stork makes sense.

like the Hell-Stork could have three heads and very sharp fangs and be very protective of Sinnerlings, especially baby ones.

it don't matter if ya are royalty or overlord, you try to come any where near the sinnerling baby, then the three headed Hell-Stork will get really aggressive and will not hesitate to try to bite them all while protecting the baby in the blanket.

the Hell-Stork could also have four eyes on each of their three heads, making about twelve eyes.

like even if Lucifer loves ducks, he could know not to mess with Hell-Storks. cause Hell-Storks don't listen to the Kings or Overlords....

it could turn out that the Hell-Storks are less aggressive to the Queens and I guess even Overlords like Rosie and Velvette.

they are only really mean and super aggressive to the Kings and Male Overlords. I like that idea works for the Hell-Storks who's job is to protect Sinnerlings and make sure that they go to the Sinnerling Orphanage safely.

for Sinnerlings who aren't babies, and if they are older sinnerlings.

they are given a carriage that the Hell-Storks pull, like instead of one there is two of them and they will fly to the Sinnerling Orphanage.

so yeah since Martha and Ralphie's Kids aren't babies or even toddlers, they would be given the carriage pulled by Hell-Storks.

which means they don't fall on the pavement like their parents, but because they all end up dying and going to the same place, even if Martha & Ralphie's Kids are taken to the Sinnerling Orphanage, another Hell-Stork could go down to those two are and give them a card that reads they have 24 hours to come to the address to pick up their son and daughter or else they will be in the full custody of the Orphanage until they get adopted by a Hellborn or another Sinner, or on rare times a Winner from Heaven...

of course if Martha and her husband Ralphie don't make it to the Sinnerling Orphanage on time, not only they would lost custody but they would be given a restraining order where they aren't allowed near their kids or even know who gets to be their new parents.

plus if Martha wants her kids back even if she and Ralphie don't make it before the 24 hours are up, they would have to do a lot of paper work that could take them a very long while to finish but even if they do end up finishing the paper work, it is not just up to the paper work to let them have their kids, but also the ones who run the Sinnerling Orphanage.

and if the people who run the Sinnerling Orphanage decides to turn them down even if they do the proper paper work, then there is no changing it.

how they could turn Martha and her husband down even after they do the paper work to get their kids back, would be if some papers about Martha and Ralphie and how they were like in the living world, even when getting papers about their kids and how they were in the living world as well, the Sinnerling Orphanage will still keep the children but would make sure they are watched and not harm the other children at the Sinnerling Orphanage.

it is a type of safety that keeps both the other children and the others who work at the Orphanage safe in case some of the other children are very dangerous.

and in a Fanon Timeline, the reason why Succubus aren't hired to work at the Sinnerling Orphanage unless they are hybrids...

is because they will cause the innocent baby sinnerlings seizures.

the only way this can be prevented is if the Succubus or Incubus wear a special bracelet with gems on it, that will block the lust energy that would cause harm to the sinnerlings.

a full succubus and incubus aren't allowed on the property because they place the much younger sinnerlings in danger, and most of those who do end up in danger of a seizure will be RH Negative and have chances of being a Empath...

plus with Sinnerlings who are RH Negative and Empath, they need special care because they are really sensitive to Hell's environment.

plus if a Sinner or Hellborn Couple or a Couple who are both a Sinner & Hellborn want to adopt the RH Negative & Empath Baby, those who run the Orphanage will have to give a list to the new parents on how to take care of the baby, such as having a dream catcher over their crib and also to keep the windows closed and have soft padding on the walls, floor and ceiling because baby and toddler sinnerlings with RH Negative blood type and Empath powers, tend to float and fly around the room when they use their telekinesis.

like picture if someone at the Sinnerling Orphanage left the windows open and it made the news.

like picture Katie Killjoy on the news talking about a flying Sinnerling going around the Pentagram City, and what would be funny is that the RH Negative Babies are at the moment more powerful than Overlords and can possibly pick a Overlord up like it was nothing and throw them across the other side of a street.

but even if the said baby has fun flying around, and picking up and throwing a Overlord....they can't stay outside too long because they will still be really sensitive to Hell's Environment and they will likely get sick or have a seizure if they get around a full succubus who isn't a hybrid.

hybrids who only half-succubus or quarter succubus, are safe for them to be around because the hybrids wont cause them to go into a seizure.

even if Ozzie and Fizzie were to adopt a Sinnerling who is not only a baby but was born with RH Negative blood and have empath like powers, Ozzie might know to keep his and Fizz's new baby safe from energy that will cause a seizure, such as drooling and twitching.

I had my first seizure when I was a baby, I think maybe a year old or almost close to it. and I think the reason why my seizures have stop, is because the town we live at now has safer energy and less dangerous energies from both people and place.

Hellborns and Sinners who work at the Sinnerling Orphanage could be made to wear Amethyst and Rose Quartz so they don't cause the Sinnerlings who are RH Negative and are descendants of the nephilim, to come sick with a fever.

it can turn out that even those who come to adopt are required to wear them to keep the RH Negative babies safe and not get sick.

it might be a weird and strange idea, but it is for the Fanon Timeline of Hazbin Hotel & Helluva Boss.

and anyway maybe I will draw idea sometime...and I guess it would make sense that when those who do adopt those RH Negative babies, they have to have the baby wear a baby bracelet with a amethyst and rose quartz on it when they go out and the bracelet could be taken off when they need to sleep in their crib but there would need to be Amethyst, Rose Quartz and other gems for protection around the room.

Oh lol the long, maybe slow burn(?), maybe-xiyao-maybe-not, post-CQL!canon monster where wwx and lwj rescue this kid and bring him back to Cloud Recesses...

...(as a hiding place because that's canon) and give him the job of working for lxc while he's in confinement (in my mind it's also kind of "gentleman in hiding" or 隐士 [I think I got that right] but anyway). Anyway, this kid actually has a lot going on but he's keeping it a secret. The problem is...he looks a little too much like young Meng Yao (so is this transmigration? with amnesia? I don't know). Well, fuck. So wwx comes up with this idea that the kid (his name is Zhou Yi) should wear something to cover his face because while he's acting as a servant for lxc, lxc is technically removed from public and other people. So if Zhou Yi wears a covering, then he's not "a person" but he's another piece of furniture or some other useful item--and lxc won't see the similarities between ZY and young!MY. Wangxian pays a visit to LXC with the kid, drop him off, and there's a long span of slowly becoming accustomed to each other and ZY cleaning up the slightly ramshackle house LXC is now living in (without talismans or help because LXC doesn't use them, with ZY learning what LXC will permit him to do--which includes bringing his meals to him, except that LXC is refusing to eat, his cultivation is waning, he's growing ill. ZY finally begs him to eat, kneeling on the floor and holding up a bowl of hot soup (burning his fingers), because if LXC "fades away" (ZY's term) then where will "your servant" go??? So LXC relents and actually eats (a little). It's a bonding experience. The seasons move on and it's autumn and ZY is peeling apples outside and LXC finds him asleep in the sun--which is cute and all but it's not actually as cute as it seems because ZY has a kind of curse in his skin that's more or less Sailor Moon-style draining his energy. So he sometimes just conks out cold.

At some point, the head of a sect that's rising in importance pays a visit to Cloud Recesses and he's received...politely. ZY was, for whatever reason, sent out into the hills around CR to look for persimmons (though it's kind of early? won't they be sour?). As he's walking around he sees this leader and, whoops! Time to hide (with the rabbits who are hopping around in the grass). This other leader is like "I would like to pay a call on Zewu-jun..." And Wangxian are like "No dice. He's put himself in confinement." So are you picking up what I'm putting down here? (An aside: at some point, probably one night, ZY will think LXC is asleep/meditating deeply and takes off his mask/face cover but LXC is not quite asleep and sees him and there's gotta be a serious amount of shock at seeing, you know, someone who looks like young!MY crouched by the fire in this ramshackle house--idk, flashbacks for lxc, I guess. So that might be where he stops eating and really withdraws into himself and finally comes out of it with soup &c &c but idk how to keep that IC, yk?)

I have lots of bits and pieces hereafter, like getting the curse out of ZY's skin (which sucks) and ZY going back to his family house (which, spoilers, has been usurped by that visiting leader, which is why ZY had to flee in the first place). I kind of want the Zhou family in this story to know about poison? Because that would be cool?

More spoilers: yes, there's a happy ending. But it would be a beast to write everything to get there.

They care deeply for their friends and family, have a special interest in chocobos, and are full of love for the world they protect. Though a force to be reckoned with in the heat of battle, in day-to-day life they can be quite timid. A traumatic childhood event left them an orphan with no memory of their past, but they were found and raised by a Duskwight woman in Dravania, near Tailfeather. Amor was considered a strange child by most Tailfeather residents (#UndiagnosedAutism), but they ignored it as best they could while focusing their attention on the chocobos their mother would catch and train. On their 20th nameday, they left home to explore the world and hopefully learn about their past, and oops! Hydaelyn's chosen! They then proceed to become the Champion of Eorzea and save the world a bunch of times, with varying levels of enthusiasm. Though always willing to do whatever is needed to protect the realm, they are prone to becoming weary of it all. At best, they'll grin and bear it. At worst, they can become resentful and bitter towards their position in life (see: DRK). Thankfully, spending time with loved ones helps mitigate this negativity. They are taking a well earned rest after the events of Endwalker, but are prepared to dive back into the fray should the world need them. They are fond of foraging when they have the opportunity, and their special interest in chocobos lends itself well to breeding and competing at the Gold Saucer. Sometimes, they give in to the irresistible urge to run around open landscapes before rolling around on the ground.

Up to Episode 02 of Princess Tutu, Some Miscellaneous Thoughts

*My first attempt to watch Tutu was dubbed, so it’s interesting noting the differences with the subs, like how they leave her name as ‘Ahiru’ even though that literally just means ‘duck’ (I wonder why that was changed for the dub). The voice Ahiru’s seiyu adopts for her sounds surprisingly creaky, but that’s actually pretty fitting for how a real duck might sound if they could use human language.

*Drosselmeyer is just as creepy as I remember him. I wonder if his trick of appearing in silhouettes and speaking from them was at least partially inspired by Itoh’s and Sato’s earlier work with Sailor Moon, particularly that scene with Jadeite addressing a minion through a pile of televisions.

*I can’t believe I forgot about Anteaterina. Reminds me that one of the things I enjoyed about this show was how it was willing to show all sorts of different and unusual characters performing ballet.

*I also forgot the show established very early on that Rue was friendly to Ahiru, and that the two even danced together, which will make their later conflict all the more bitter.

*I like that Ahiru can, technically, transform between duck and human at will, but it’s conditional, just like in a lot of classic fairy tales. While it’s awkward for her now, iirc she later learns how to use her condition to her advantage.

*I know Ahiru only has the best of intentions, but maaaybe she shouldn’t have started rebuilding Mytho’s heart with ‘bitter disappointment’. Still, I like how this show grapples with feelings in a very literal sense, and how even negative feelings are a necessary part of someone’s heart.

*Random non-sequitur, but if Ahiru and Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist ever met, and he learned about her amulet and shapeshifting, he would be *absolutely* convinced that she’s a chimera using a philosopher’s stone, and for some reason that’s very amusing to me.

Dante

He probably is a fun dad but at the same time don't leave your kids with him, it would be a disaster

Will wake up to crying at 12 am and try to put the kid back to sleep, ends up with both of them watching tv instead

This man will do anything with your kid, they want to go to the park, sure he'll have to keep an eye on them. They want to see the movies, sure has to be below pg or he will never hear the end of it from the nightmares his kids have. Want to go to the zoo, sure he just needs to make sure they don't go into the exhibit.

He will play dress up and tea time with them. He will put on a dress and have them do his makeup just so he can go to tea time, and might start some beef with Mr teddy for stealing his cupcakes, but he will do it proudly.

He will try to do their hair in the morning for school, again he is not the best at it and will probably give them crooked pigtails, he's trying he really is.

Can't cook for shit, I'm sorry if you think he could cook please take a look at all the pizza box stored around his shop. Like he will take cooking lessons or watch cooking shows but dear god how do you set fire to milk.

He will always be there for his kid to vent even if he doesn't know how to respond he will sit and let them rant about stuff, also trying to cheer them up because he doesn't want to see them sad

If they brought their homework to him he would be confused he can barely pay his bills i don't think he knows how to do math, but drama he will rock that stuff his acting skills are on point even if it's cheesy

Will waste all his money on the kid, toys, clothes, video games, you name it he will buy it and give to the kid

Remember how I said not to leave your kid alone with Dante yeah, he may or may noteave his weapons/devilarms around for the kids to grab them, like halfway of Dante walking into the main room and he sees ebony in his kids mouth he tricksters all the way to them and quickly grab ebony before anything bad happens, but the kid will start crying and he has to find something for them to mess with or he'll get a headache

He accidently devil triggered in front of his kid now depending on which one he get two responses and he's expecting screaming for both, but if its regular dt like humanish looking one, "woah, dad grew scales and wings, are you a lizard king?" Now its his Sin Dt he would get "Oo, daddys a gaint dragon" for both case they will proceed to touch his scales? And will be all over him trying to climb him to the point he literally has to switch out of dt so they don't get hurt. Also he's a heat source for winter if the heating doesn't get paid for.

If his kid comes out as any of the lgbtq+ he would be supportive and loves them for who they are, I also see him being apart of it too.(I know a few people see him as asexual I do too, as well as bisexual)

Vergil

Look this guy probably has no clue what he's doing, even if we wish he could've taken care of Nero (at least I do) he didn't and now he has another kid to take care

Please help him hold the baby, he can't properly do it at all, he's just holding them by their chest and staring at them with confusion as the child cry, "why won't they stop screaming?"

He will get the hang of taking care of the kid, but please don't leave him alone with them for long he still has no clue what he's doing half the time

"Hey can I hang out with (insert name) at the mall?", "Do I know their mom?", "Uh, no", "Do I know their dad?", "No" Then that settles it, you can't go", "But-", "No buts, if I don't know their parents you can't go, and that's finale"

Can he cook, probably but he's been in hell for most of his life and doesn't know what he's doing half the time. Thank god for cooking shows and book he at least tries a learn how to cook, and doesn't burn anything unlike someone else

He will read the kids William Blake or other bed time stories before bed time, and will do activities where they try to make up poems he has to thank Nero for the idea

Speak of Nero, if Vergil has a mission he will leave his kids with him, he's not trusting Dante at all. Nero absolutely loves his step siblings even if their like a few years younger than him, they will either play with the other kids at the orphanages or play Nero which consist of Video games, sometimes sword fights if they beg long enough, or just talk about the stuff their dad and uncle does that are stupid and make fun of them for it.

Also that one dad to try and help with math homework but makes the kid cry because they don't understand the problem and he's yelling at them "What's 2 x 2?" Its traumatizing please someone tell him to cool it or his kid is going to have problems when it comes to yelling and math, also complains how he didn't learn it that way as a kid, I promise you he was homeschooled.

Now his kids can vent to him but he has no clue what to do nor have much good advice but he will give what he knows even if it's not the best.

This can go many ways, this man know his kid is getting bullied he will go down to the school with the Yamato and threaten someone's life, give his kid the sword for them to deal with it instead, or use some brain cells and deal with it like civil people and we hope he chooses the last one

Now he's a little careful with his devil trigger and doesn't want to scare his kids, but its by accident really and he expects screaming, just like Dante he gets two responses. Regular dt and I'm going off of 4 because I don't think he has one in dmc5, "Dad, why didn't you tell me/us your secretly a bug, don't worry well keep you away from shoes." If its Sin Dt, "Wow, your a dragon this whole time, does this mean I'm also a dragon, where do you keep your stashed gold?", I feel like for his regular dt they will sometimes smack him with a fyswatter and he has to turn out of his sin dt quickly because they want to mess with the fire coming out of him.

If his kids come out as lgbtq+ he will be supportive and a little confused because he has no clue what it is. They have to explain what it means and what their sexuality means, he'll still be supportive and loves his kids no matter what they are

Nero

Out of Vergil and Dante, he's probably the one who knows more about taking care of kids since he grew up with them in an orphanage and takes care of them

I feel he's like a mix between Dante and Vergil, Fun dad but will put his foot down on somethings

If its a girl you bet he will go out to a store at whatever time it is and buy then pad/tampon when their monthly comes no questions asked he just knows. If its a dude he will give the talk, not just protection but what not to do, like when a girl tells him to stop he needs to stop, no advancing on or anything like that (I feel like the no advancing will also go for the girl)

Doesn't do favoritism, he hates that stuff since he technically dealt with it as a kid, if one kid ask why he loves the other more than them he will shut that down quickly and tell them he loves them equally and will move moons for them to both be happy

Best cook hands down, and will let his kids help if they want to but keeps them away from sharp objects. He will also take them out to dinner if he doesn't want to cook

He's decent with homework, and goes about it in a fun learning experience for the both of them, if they get an answer right they get a point that they can trade for something special later kne, if they get it wrong they will go over it again, but still get a point because no favoritism. He also help make a volcano, but also put a little extra pizzazz to it, and might have caused the whole kitchen to be a different color now.

His kids can vent to him, he will understand and try to help give advice for some issues, also takes them out of the house to do something they want to do to cheer them up

He will encourage his kids to follow what they want to do, play a sport? He will show up to every game, even if that means giving Dante his mission he will. A club? He will make sure they have everything they need for that club and be on time for it, be it art, book, yearbook, student council, etc. They want to do boy scout/girl scout, he will make sure he gets them a vest and help put pins on as well. He will be the number one supportive dad

As soon as his kid comes to him crying about how some other kid is bullying them he will be mad, he'll reassuring his kid that they are amazing first, then go to the school, if they don't do anything he will go straight to the parent and make sure that their kid doesn't mess with his anymore.

Will watch anime with them, if they agree that is don't want your dad into your stuff. But like he's absolutely into it, he seems like the person to like Bleach (this was not intentional I complete forgot that the voice actor for Nero also did Ichigo) or Cowboy Bebop. Maybe sailor moon but you won't hear him say it

Look he's really new to the devil trigger business, the only thing close he had was that ghost creature, so keeping this thing in check and not popping up randomly is hard. His kids reaction are, "You hair is longer, are you like rapunzel, oh wait you have wings and a crown your an angel. Oh can I braid your hair please," of course he will let them braide his hair he can't say no to a pouting face, they also will poke his wings to see if their real.

He will definitely support his kid if their aprat of the lgbtq+, will buy them flags, merch, you name it. He want his kid to feel safe and loved

Lady and Trish

Look I can't separate these two, when I first saw them I thought they were girlfriends, and I can't let that go. But these two would definitely be the fun and protective mom

So considering Trish and Lady are both females they definitely have to adopt of course, now Lady may not know if its half demon or full, but Trish does and she probably would help the kid when they get older since she knows about the demon body considering she has one, if its human Lady knows the most about the stuff going on when they get older and has I already planned out.

Now Lady has to be the protective mom because the shit happen with her dad she definitely doesn't want anything bad to happen to their kid, and Trish is like you do you kid if you get hurt you learn from it "its the demon way of raising" she says. Though she still will watch over them and make sure they don't get themselves severely hurt

They will buy their kid anything, and take them out shopping. It's like a spin the wheel of pay to see if they will pay for the stuff or put it under Dante's name for shits and giggles

Lady has to like keep her weapons locked up somewhere safe, unlike Dante, she's more careful with her weapons

If their kid is mad or something Trish will take them to some deserted area with some random stuff she found that isn't in use and have their kid throw it in the air so she can blow it up with her lighting, you know to blow steam off

Trish or Lady tell their kid the stupidest thing Dante has done or said, if they visit Dante please note one will scream if Dante says something about a soul, "I should have been the one to fill your dark soul with Light" and get the voice crack right too, he will look so embarrassed

Now Trish might not know anything about homework she'll support the best she can but Lady knows most of the stuff and will help.

Trish will tell their king everything about Hell, who's in charge, what creatures are there, the history of it all. Its a great learning experience until you tell them that the female demons kill the male after finishing mating

If they are out in public and some guy is hitting on their kid and their tell him no, protective mom mode is on. Mostly Lady has to stop Trish from frying thr guy, but Lady will give the man a price of her mind saying if he tries to do this shit again with her kid he will be going home with a foot straight up his ass. So now no man tries to hit on her

Definitely let the kids go venting to them, they give the best cuddled, some good advice, and shopping if they say someone's bullying them they will see that the parent deals with their kid.

They knew their kid was apart of lgbtq+, of course their supportive of who they are, they are dating of course. They will take them to a pride march in June

Kyrie

Look, LOOK, she is an amazing mom, so caring but also will put her foot down on somethings

Besides Nero she is a good cook and baker, while she doesn't want kids in the kitchen while she's cooking will will have them help with baking sweet

Reads bedtime stories and tucks her kids in and kiss goodnight (ugh my heart hurts I love this)

She will play video games with her kids mostly on the wii, she still the champion on Mario Kart and Just Dance no one has taken their spot yet, even Nero tries

Packs lunch for her kids and puts a note in it telling them that she loves them and hope they have the best day

She does worry about them from time to time when they go over a friends house, only because of what happened to her brother and then Nero she doesn't want anything to happen to her kids

Tells them not to climb the tree in their backyard, what does one of them do, they climb it and accidently falls down. She goes to them saying "You know I told you not to do it, and you did it anyways, you need to be more careful and listen to me. I'm not doing this because I'm being uptight I'm doing this for your safety I want you to be able to do the things you want in the future"

I feel like she's the same way with friends like Vergil, if she doesn't know the parents then you can't go out or over their house

She is really a good listener and help with advice, so venting to her is a really great idea also will ask about your feelings and how your doing someday, like she knows your in a sad mood

She also good with homework, I feel like she wanted to become a teacher as well as study for it, but instead stuck with taking care of orphans, so she probably homeschools her kids too

She also makes the kids clothes time to time, they have little sweaters or shirts that are soft and comfortable

She is so supportive of her kids if they come out lgbtq+, she doesn't care as long as their happy thats all that matters.

Nico

Now I love Nico amazing and pretty girl but don't leave a child with her, just like Dante it will be a disaster, but she probably would try to be a better parent than her since he technically wa this weird freaky man who experimented on demons or was weird.

Let's start with teaching the kid every swear word she knows and tells them to go up to Nero call him one of those names, she will hear her name being screamed and find an angry Nero going over to her as she burst into fits of laughter

Will be extra pair of arms when getting a tool they need for fixing the van, when Nero does understand what a Dohicky is

I think Nico can cook, its decent not bad or good, she did nearly burn the van down from trying to cook turkey.

She will try and cut back on smoking or at least not doing it when the kid is around because its bad for them, Nero scoffs because she nags him when he tells her to stop, but not her kids

Now her kids could bring homework to her, like he's good in math, engineering, and probably biology, but she'll act as if she never even seen the stuff in her life, because she wants to get her learn it and not her just giving them the answer. But if their kid is in a science fair I bet she will help make something totally child friendly(its not really), it kind of gets her and her kid ban from doing anymore science fairs.

She will teach then everything she knows about Demon, mostly the biology of it, and when Nero brings a demon part for his breakers, she goes in explain how she turns them into those.

Will tease her kids if they talk about their crush, she's a huge teaser so saying something about someone they really like or anything its a mistake, she will embarrass them in front of their crush, but she means well

If they try to change the channel of the radio she swats their hand saying the driver picks the music and the passenger has to sit and listen.

If she's busy with something she will let Nero and Kyrie babysit her kids, she trust them and the kids love Nero and Kyrie.

Tries to teach her kids how to drive when their of age to learn, but Nero and Kyrie won't let her considering how she drives and that the instructor is more legal to do it.

No but she will tease her kid a bit if they come out lgbtq+ too, of course she supportive I kind of see her being apart of lgbtq+ as well

They will teach their kid self defense, and how to use a weapon. While they rather their kids have a normal life instead of a demon hunter for many reasons, they at least want their kid to take care of themselves if they find themselves in a situation where their life is on the line

hello can I ask how you got into drawing? it's something that i want to do for a long time but I don't know where to start 😔

hello!!!! this answer is going to get nerdy as hell look away. this is also going to be a lot of long, boring story time bc I like reminiscing abt this and i like talking and im painting a story of my journey!!!! but I will also try to give like semi-useful information at the end?? It's long so under the cut:

Thinking way way back to when i was a little kid doodling, the thing that got me most into it was manga/anime (i think this is evident in my style?). I think i was prob vaguely into drawing cuz of like, Sailor Moon, but I definitely remember the moment I REALLY got into drawing was when someone introduced me to Inuyasha (*fondly thinking of grade 2 elementary school*). I got obsessed with the manga, trying to redraw my fav scenes, eventually drawing the characters (well, just Kagome for the curious heehee) from memory. I did this for years. I got into other manga/anime and eventually started emulating those styles. I think the thing that must've really spurred me on, though, was finally being online and seeing what other people were drawing and being like, I want to be able to do that.

Reading a lot of manga is a lot easier online for obvious reasons; I consumed a lot. Meanwhile I continued looking at other artists' art. I got a tablet and drew. I really got into Smackjeeves (shout-out to anyone who remembers this site) and was super impressed that people were drawing their own characters and comics. I created my own characters (with the intention of drawing a comic someday. this will never happen but to this day I still draw and think/write about ocs I created like a decade ago!)!!! Eventually I found my own style. But obviously incorporated bits and pieces of what I liked/learned from other artists into my own art (i like the way this artist draws mouths, i like the way that artists renders eyes, let me try that. etc.). I really got into various pieces of media (which I won't name gasdfgd) and was really inspired to draw a lot of fanart, and post it to tumblr.

For various reasons I won't go into because they sound annoyingly self-deprecating, I never really had a lot of artist friends. But I joined twitter and finally made a few, and it was a lot easier to talk to people and be talked to on twitter (tags are so awesome I love reading every single one!! but it's much easier to reply to comments on twitter). they had cool ocs and cool art and like, for the first time ever people were commenting on my original art (which is a great feeling) and I spent a lot of time and effort developing ocs. Continued to get into various media and draw fanart.

Over the years, inevitably there have been times when I drew almost nothing at all (school kept me busy, or I just didn't feel like it) and stagnated or got worse. And there were times that I just like improved super quickly because I was drawing so much. And I was drawing so much because I was really inspired because I was so obsessed with whatever I was into at the time (whether that be a piece of media or my own ocs) and having fun.

So I hope the thread throughout this answer is at least somewhat clear. If your question is how to start drawing it's as simple as seeing something you like, picking up a pencil and trying to draw it. if your question is what's the fastest way to improve, draw as much as you can - it helps to find something you really, really like! You'll naturally want to draw a lot, and draw the subjects in all kinds of situations, and convey your ideas. Look at other peoples' art of the subjects. If you can, maybe find a few like-minded people. I can't give good advice about to how to get really technically good (I still can’t draw bgs, or very varied features, etc. Other people have said a million better things about it: do studies, etc. etc.) but like, being into something will essentially force you to search up references and get good at drawing various things. I used to be one of those people who drew characters with hands behind their back because I couldn't draw them. Then I became determined to draw them - looked at my own hands, practiced, looked at how other people drew hands. Now they're like my favourite thing to draw! I used to only draw individual characters facing 3/4 left lol - now I draw couples, etc. from different angles (or at least, I try to) because I wanted to draw my own ocs interacting, or characters I liked interacting. I got into various pieces of live action media, which forced me to try to translate real people features into my own style so the characters would be at least slightly recognizable.

There’s that one tweet that’s like “the best way to get better at drawing is to become some kind of pervert” <- so true.

I don’t know how useful this answer will be and sorry if it’s preachy! Reiterating: just like, find something you like. Draw it. Keep finding things you like and which inspire you, and draw those too. Definitely look at other art (different forms too! you’ll notice different things you like from paintings, or movies, or digital vs traditional, or comics) and learn and be inspired. Even when you’re not actively drawing, you can be improving just by observing things. (And remember that sometimes improvement won’t be immediately evident - maybe it’s just that it’s a bit easier for you to draw something; maybe you’ve gotten faster at something; the angle of the jaws you draw is just slightly more realistic; the colours you choose are more interesting. Also note that since you’ll be seeing your own art all the time you won’t really notice even the bigger differences unless you’re looking at the most recent art vs. art from like months ago.) The other thing, which I am super guilty of not doing, is think while you draw. I’m really bad about this and then look back at something and am like damn why’d I do that (for example, I’m really bad about remembering that the thing I’m drawing is 3D, and thinking about how things act in 3D while I draw). So then the next advice is look at your own art a bit after you make it and notice the things you like and what you’d do differently for your next piece. Learn from your own art. Try your best!!! Not everything you draw will be good. Sometimes you’ll try to draw and everything will suck - whatever! like, truly, no skin off your back. try again tomorrow

Anime I Judged too Early

Here are some anime I ended up really liking despite being skeptical/judgmental of them before watching. Let’s get started!

Spy x Family

This might be a shocking first choice because so many people have been raving about this show recently, but due to all the hype I was skeptical that it was just another overrated comedy that had no substance. I was totally proven wrong by the first episode, it really is a sweet funny show that has good characters and an interesting plot. I don’t think it’s the best anime of all time but it’s definitely worth a watch if you enjoy light, cute comedies with a fun concept.

Dr. Stone

I had a friend recommend this show to me years ago, and I was pretty hesitant to try it because I don’t really care for isekai (which this show... technically is?) plus I am not a big science person, but after watching a few episodes I really appreciated how interesting and funny the show is, even if you don’t care for science. I genuinely learned a lot and I was on the edge of my seat. (I was also judging the character designs pretty hard but you get used to it/even grow to like them)

Haikyuu!!

So for years online, all I saw about this show was a looooot of ship content. Which is fine, it’s just not my cup of tea and gave me the false impression that the show wouldn’t have a strong plot. This is my bad for judging a show from its online presence, but I was very pleasantly surprised when I actually gave it a shot and realized how emotional and deep the stories in Haikyuu actually were. And yes, even though I don’t usually ship stuff, after watching the show I understand where the most popular ships are coming from and why they’re so beloved. But the show has a lot more facets to it that I didn’t know about.

Madoka Magica

I had been fortunate enough to avoid any spoilers about Madoka Magica for years, but because of that I almost had the opposite problem where I had actually no clue what it was about and genuinely thought it was some cute Sailor Moon type anime or something. I had no idea that in reality it was a very dark, surrealist show that was entirely up my alley. I really am glad I gave it a chance, because it’s in my top 10 anime of all time now.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

I’ve said before on this blog that I am not a mecha anime person, and since that was all I knew about Evangelion, for years I was like yeah no thanks. I didn’t know that it was intended to be a subversion of that genre until I had so many friends recommending it that I couldn’t take it anymore and just gave it a shot. I wouldn’t say this is one of my favorite anime ever or one I even love a lot, but I appreciate what it’s trying to do thematically and I definitely misjudged what the show would actually be about.

As a counterpoint to this post, there have been tons of shows where I pre-judged them and was completely right, but imo all shows are worth a try, even if that try is only watching 15 minutes of the pilot.

I know some people have a 3 episode rule; for me, if I can’t make it through the first episode I generally will just give up, but if I can do that much I will push through to 2 and by then I’ll know if I want to continue the show or not. Just in case people were curious about my process.

Have you ever made a recommendation list of general positive “feel-good” kinds of media? I think the world could always use much more of those vibes!

For this list however, I'm not going to recommend media that I would call life affirming or optimistic or uplifting, because although those are my favourite, media in this vein tend to depict some of the more darker aspects of being alive and extremely negative experiences, because how can you be life affirming and optimistic if you AVOID that which you are trying to rise above?

But for this list I'm going to recommend things which don't go too dark and which you can comfort watch without putting yourself through some kind of spiritual growth or anything like that XD because sometimes we want to watch Utena break the cycle of abuse and oppression and sometimes we just want to chill with something sparkly and pink.

SO! in no particular order;

1: Winx Club

I watched the first season as a 13 year old or so and I wasn't really into it. I was just at that age where I was starting to explore more serious media and stories with darker tones. However I've very recently started re-watching it since all 8 seasons are up for free on youtube by its own official youtube channel.

Winx Club is an Italian cartoon, starting in 2004. Although technically a Magical Girl show, I would describe it more like a hybrid of Sailor Moon and Harry Potter. You follow a human girl from Earth called Bloom who discovers she has magic powers and may actually be a Fairy. She is accepted into a school for Fairies (kind of like Hogwarts but without the traditional houses like British Boarding schools have). She attends classes with her 4 new friends (later 5 in the 2nd season) and learns about the magical world (which is a mix of magic and sci fi) while also learning about her heritage and trying to beat the witches from the evil boarding school just for Witchcraft XD.

The first season so far is a nice relaxing watch with characters who are very sweet. I hear it gets more dramatic as the seasons go on, but the first season I guess I would compare to the first Harry Potter book in terms of tone. Except aimed at preteen girls in the eary 2000s

2: Nyanners

Nyanners is a Vtuber and probably the one I watch the most. I don't really like vtubers who are completely UwU and soft and PG and have absolutely no substance to them. So I like Nyanners because her voice may sound like Yuna from FFX but she says the most outrageous shit. Also it's just REALLY FUNNY to watch a pink anime cat girl with an UwU voice yelling at a video game to go fuck itself.

She's just really funny, REALLY good at improv, knows how to be hilarious and spin a situation to be entertaining, and she's just... a really good entertainer.

She's on this list because even though she has streams that devolve into utter chaos (like her VR adventures) she also has streams where she's just relaxing and chatting either with the chat or one of her fellow VTuber friends. So if you want something really funny to watch and you like pink and you just kind of want to unwind, I'm gonna link her VOD channel which has her full streams archived. I don't watch her live because her chat is usually about 8k people at once and it's too stressful for me XD but her archived streams you can just sit and watch or play as background noise while doing something else.

3: Genshin Impact (yes. Really. Just hear me out)

FIRST. Genshin is a free to play Gacha game that wants you to spend money on its gambling mechanics. If you are someone who is susceptible to addictive gambling or who struggles with monetization in games, please do not play Genshin. Also, if this affects your decision in any way, Genshin is a Chinese developed game. I don't believe Tencent is involved (yet) and it's not something any government officials are involved with, its developer is merely based in China. However if this makes you uncomfortable, it's something you should know?

Ok. So, Genshin is basically a very long-running 100+ episode Isekai anime but in video game form where you're the main character. It plays a bit like Breath of the Wild, with the open world crammed full of chests and collectables, and materials to turn into items, to secrets that unlocks chests etc etc etc. The gameplay is satisfying but not particularly challenging, the environments are all beautiful with soothing music, the writing is generally very soft with really cute character designs and story-driven quests whether main story related or just side quests.

The game will try and push you into logging in once a day to get daily rewards, and it will gentle suggest you spend money to gamble for a random character, but if you're someone unaffected by these sort of things, it's not that intrusive and easy to ignore. And if you think of it as a single-player MMO or, as I said, a never-ending Isekai anime that just keeps going and going forever with new areas/quests/characters released every few months, it's genuinely an incredibly relaxing game to just unwind and chill. Even if you're just doing your 15 minutes daily quest.

It's also free. It's on basically every single fucking gaming platform including for your phone but I think if you tried playing it on your phone it would just melt. I had it on my laptop first but deleted it for the hard drive space and downloaded it for my PS4 instead.

4: Lucky Star

speaking of anime;

Lucky Star is an anime about nothing. It's based on a 4 panel gag manga strip where our 4 main characters and their friends are in various every day situations and just like.... talk. That's it XD the first 2 episodes are a little slow and not very interesting to watch, but the series switched directors after the 2nd episode and it becomes very enjoyable. It's similar to Azumanga Daioh, but whereas Azumanga has episodic stories and small events that carry through story wise, Lucky Star is just a bunch of disconnected events and situations that the girls react to. One episode they might be at Comiket, but generally they're just in high school and in one scene discussing what kind of animals they'd be, and then later talking about whatever new anime Konata is watching (the others don't really watch anime), or just like... doing high school stuff. Struggling with studying, going to the beach for a day, dealing the dentist etc etc.

Nothing seriously upsetting or bad happens in the entire show. It's just a light-hearted comedy that I find hilarious.

5: Zaypixel

Even if you don't have or don't play Minecraft, I'd still recommend watching Zaypixel. There are a lot of "how to" Minecraft channels on youtube... like... a LOT. But Zaypixel is different because none of the videos are narrated, the buildings are built in survival mode so no disorientating flying around, and its shown from a 3rd person perspective so no motion sickness. Plus Zaypixel is just good at picking music and visuals to make for some really calming videos, just quietly watching someone make a nice house in minecraft.

6: Music compilations

There are a myriad of channels and videos on youtube solely devoted to making hour-long compilations of music to fit any mood or ambience you might be looking for. For some feel good music I literally recommend looking up "feel-good music compilation". There's some great stuff out there. From relaxing JRPG mixes to indie Japanese music to cute anime songs.

7: 李子柒 Liziqi

You probably already know Liziqi's youtube channel but I'm gonna recommend her in case you don't.

Liziqi is a lady who lives in rural China with her grandparents. After an extremely rough period in her life up to and including homelessness for a while, she started her youtube channel where she merely makes video content of her life on her grandparent's farm.

Her videos include things like the traditional Chinese method of making and dyeing wool for a blanket, harvesting wild foods with which she then makes supper for her and her grandmother, or all the ways in which she uses wheat in her home.

Her content stands out due to the high quality of her filming and how she directs her shots and marries them to music, making it feel like a higher quality product than a vlogging channel would

Next I'm gonna recommend some things I haven't checked out yet myself but which are pretty high on my "to watch" list.

8: Yuru Camp

You probably know this one already. An anime revolving entirely around camping. It follows a group of cute anime girls, all of which have different personalities who enjoy going out and camping. The show is both a slice of life about camping, as well as exploring the relationships between these girls, and also provides tips and instructions on if you'd like to go camping yourself. On top of this, the areas shown in the anime of where the girls go camping are all real places in rural Japan that can be camped at yourself. I've been dying to get to this show, I've just been distracted by other things lately.

9: The Atelier series

Another game series I've been meaning to look into one day when I have the money for it.

I've spoken about these before, but the Atelier games are about you playing as a character (usually a girl) who is starting an Alchemy business. The game focuses around fulfilling orders, usually within a generous time-limit (although there are certain games in the series without time-limits) and gathering ingredients in the wild areas. Either by gathering them like herbs and mushrooms, or by battling creatures in JRPG style fights for drops. You slowly work towards bettering your alchemy shop while following the main plot of the game and meeting a variety of characters who become your friends along the journey.

The games are designed to be positive and uplifting, with lower budget but well designed visuals, cute anime characters, and a leisurely pace.

And then lastly

10: 도기코기 Doggie Corgi

Doggie Corgi is a channel of videos of relaxing music set to looping animations of dogs in various locations. I don't mean a gif loop, I mean long stretches of animation that eventually loop themselves.
