Hi everyone, I’m really hoping you guys like this one! I’m hoping to continue this story, if you all like this. I’m not used to writing for other people, so please give me some feedback on how I could make this more enjoyable.

“Small Things Come With a Awkward Price”

Chapter 1

Getting home was a nightmare and getting back into your room is the top priority in your mind. The trip from Walmart had you exhausted due to the unexpected heat. Looking at your phone, you swear that today was only supposed to be in the seventies. You drop off your grocery bag onto your bed and pull out the item you have been waiting to open up. The Sonic Boom season one DVD set came with Sonic and Dr.Eggman figures. Even though the box was banged up, you bought the set anyway. The thought crossed your mind that a kid tried to open the box to get the figures but luckily didn’t succeed. You opened the banged-up box and pulled the figures out and set them on the bed. Then, taking out the two DVD cases, you set those on the bed and take a walk to the kitchen with the busted box and the excess plastic.

On the way to the kitchen, your thoughts began to wonder why you had picked up the box set to begin with. It was a good price and with the addition of the figures, you thought yourself lucky to get the last one they carried. Looking back, however, you did remember that this box was just under one of the shelving units next to the videogame isle, not even covered by a speck of dust. You had only seen the box when you went to look closer at a price tag, seeing the corner of the disheveled box and its contents. Pacing your dominant foot on the small peddle of the garbage can, the lid lifts from its closed positions and you gently toss the trash into the bin, only seeing a slip of paper glide out of the now trashed box.

You groan in annoyance that you have to take care of the fallen slip and pick up the small piece of paper after a try or two keeping it slightly stick to the floor. You take a closer look at the paper and see that it had some writing to it.

‘Hope you like my surprise!’

Staring at it puzzled you. Who was this for? I wasn’t meant for you to find, at least that what you believe. Was this put in here as a joke or an accident or-,

‘Clack!’

You jump ever so slightly from the odd noise that had pulled you away from your thoughts. The noise appears to come from your room, from the way the sound was only slightly distant and lightly muffled by the walls. You take more of a pep in your step and get to your room to investigate the noise. Taking a look around your room, you find after a minute of looking to see your Sonic figure on the floor. Picking him back up you take a look at him and see that his paint job was really impressive for a small action figure. You rolled him around in your hand and were impressed that the figure, all around, was correctly put together and made. No chip marks, no lack of paint, or extra paint where it shouldn’t be. No mistakes. You smile a bit at the thought and set Sonic on your small table next to your bed. You see that the Dr.Eggman figure, however, was almost to the edge of the bed, laying on his tummy, and had his arms pushed out in front of him. ‘Looks like he pushed Sonic off.’ You laughed at that thought of the plastic toy throwing its plastic arch-nemesis over the edge of the bed.

You pick the doctor up and examine him as well. He just like Sonic with the most impeccable paint job you’ve seen. You blush a bit and hold him more gently. You won’t lie and say that you may have had a crush on the doctor for a while now, not trying to deny it anymore. The first time that you had seen him on screen when watching the cartoon, you had butterflies swarming inside of you. The way he spoke was like music to your ears, and the way that he got when he thought he was about to win was so cute to you. You wished that they had made a third season to keep going with the cute doctor, but alas, good things must come to an end.

Taking the doctor and placing him onto your mountain of pillows you take a new pair of clothing into your bathroom and get cleaned up again, remembering that the heat had not been kind to you earlier. Once done, you put your old outfit into your laundry hamper and grabbed your portable DVD payer from the corner of your room. You had gotten this for the holidays and once you had gotten it, you never put it down for more than a few hours. You open up the player and take the first DVD case and open up the side of it up to show you the contents inside.

Your mood changed to a sour one when you saw the DVD itself. A plain disk with the words ‘Sonic Boom Season One, First Disk.’ repaced what would have been the official disk. You were upset that this was a false product and went to look at the second case. When you opened that one you were greeted by the bootleg copy of the second disk. You set both cases down and head to the kitchen you grab your favorite drink.

‘Really should have grabbed this earlier when I went to throw out the box.’ thinking bitterly as you swing open the fridge door and grab a bottle of your elixir that would of relax the current mood you were in. Opening the cap and dowing a few gulps of the drink, you realized that maybe you might have had gotten a copy that may have been a gift to someone or a factory error. You put the cap back on and take a deep breath. You had wanted to watch the show and still hope that the disks were holding the content you crave.

You made your way back to your room again to find your DVD player’s disk tray opened with the first seasons stuck in the correct spot. You freaked. You KNEW that you did not put the disk is the try, not even taking it out of its case, what is it ended DOING out of the case? You panic for a second and take a look around your home to make sure no one was in the house with you. After a check of the windows, rooms, closets, and even checking under furniture, you concluded that no one could have been in your house. You take a calming breath and sit down on the edge of your bed. You try and come up with some sort of explanation. Mabey you had put the disk in your DVD player and forgot about it. You were a bit sleep-deprived due to the last week of finals, so maybe you may have forgotten? You try and relax and after a few minutes you calm down enough to stop thinking of making scenarios of how this could have happened. After getting a grip, you push the lid down of the DVD player and start up the system. Sitting on your bed, you get to the main menu and sigh of relief that it was a copy of the show and not a knock-off. “So this must be a prototype or an unreleased version, cool.” Speaking to no one in particular. You press play on the first episode, ‘The Sidekick.’ and lean back the ride.

At first, the episode appeared normal. That ended when it got to the scene where Dr.Eggman got the poster for the sidekick tryouts and when the fourth wall gag kicked in and dropped the camera away from the doctor’s face, when he picked it up, however.

“Lousy security camer-.” he had stopped and looked dead into the ‘camera’. His eyes widened and he gave off a soft gasp, and you swore he was looking dead into your eyes, however, the scene quickly changed into the next stop before he could react. You pause the clip there and lean back.

NO WAY that happened. Your brain at the moment was fried and you KNEW he looked at you. Your heart was pounding a mile a minute and you had to take a few deep breathes to make sure you didn’t hyperventilate. ‘Breath,’ You keep telling yourself. ‘Breath!’ After few minutes of reconciliation, you looked back to the paused screen and ponder on what you should do. This has to be edited or who knows what. You were too far into this to give up now. First, the way the box was hidden was now becoming way too suspicious, second the way the figure looked way too good to be sold in a box set like that, and now this? You realized that this might be bigger than what you anticipated. Your eyes connect with the figure on your bed. You wanted to see where this goes. You had to see where this leads. You press play again.

You kept watching and when it got to when the doctor was introduced it was normal until it got to the Doctor entering the try-outs. He would keep going with the same dialog but kept taking glances over to you. The episode kept playing. The ending was different, however. Once BurnBot was destroyed via growing in the ice lake, Sonic and Tails didn’t kick the doctor away from the area. Instead, they did kick the Egg-Mobile out into the distance, but the doctor jumped out, landing in the area around the lake, letting Sonic and Tails leaving the scene. The camera focused on Eggman again as he lifted himself from off the ground and into the camera’s range. This time there was absolutely no way that the Docter did not see you as his expression look of that of confusion and worry. You decided to test out to see if you were going insane or if this was just an amazing edit. You wave to him. He hesitates for a moment. “Who-” But before he could finish that sentence, a very large light appears from the screen, blinding you. You cover your eyes and try to maneuver your body away from the small screen, only forgetting that you were seated in your bed and had just flung yourself off of it. You yelp out of fright and waited to hit the floor. You felt something grab you by the waist and pull you back up on the bed slowly. Uncovering your eyes you were met with something that happens only in fanfiction. A, very real, Dr. Eggman holding you in his hands, keeping you from falling off the bed.

“Hello.” His voice wavers from either the awkwardness of the situation or the fact that he just showed up into your room.

This is awkward.

My Top Ten Favourite Moments in Sonic Games

The past 30 years the Sonic series has had a lot of memorable moments, too many to list fully, so in celebration of my recent follower milestone, today I’ll be presenting and explaining my personal top ten favourite moments. I would like to emphasise that this list is very subject and is highly influenced by my personal experiences with the Sonic series. It’s not intended to be objective by any means, and I would love to hear what moments you guys would put on your own lists! Additionally, this list is only for things from the games, in the future I’ll make another list for other Sonic media

Without further ado, let’s get started!

10) City Escape’s GUN truck

Interesting set pieces and small scripted moments in levels have been a staple in the Sonic series since the beginning. Sure, they’re not always challenging from a game-play standpoint, but they’re always an entertaining spectacle. One of the most ionic of these moments (and one of my personal favourites) is being chased by the GUN truck. City Escape is already a highly memorable level from the get-go, but the truck sequence is the cherry on top. An additional shout-out to both of the Generations versions of the level for not only bringing it back but changing it up just enough to surprise you and keep you on your toes!

9) Escaping Null Space

Forces is one of those games that I would describe as a truly mixed bag. Yeah, there are a lot of things about the game that kinda sucked or were disappointing, but when it hit a high, BOY did it hit. While I agree with many people that having the Null Space portion of this level actually have gameplay in it would’ve made this moment impact a little harder, I’m just in love with that transition from the silence of null space to the bombastic chorus of Fist Bump. I thought it was a really exciting moment that hypes you up for the rest of the level.

8) Sonic Heroes’ opening cinematic

Heroes was my first 3D Sonic game, and consequently it was my introduction to a lot of things that are staples for the Sonic series. Vocal themes, an extended cast and their interpersonal relationships, story routes that connect to each other. These are some of my favourite things about the Sonic series, so even if some aspects of the game aren’t that great, I could never ever hate or even dislike Heroes. I feel like the opening cinematic to Heroes (the one with the theme song as the music) is the aspect of Heroes that really encapsulates those feelings best. I must’ve spent hours as a kid letting it play over and over again singing along to it.

7) Shadow the Hedgehog (2004) title screen cinematic

Before you laugh, here is where I must remind you that this list is extremely subjective and highly influenced by my personal experiences and memories. Ok now imagine this: you are a 7-8 year old kid, and your experience with media that isn’t mainstream radio or educational children’s tv shows is fairly limited. You’re getting deep into the Sonic series for the first time thanks to playing Heroes and seeing some of the cartoons and you’re interested to know more about the series. You visit Sonic Central, the official site at the time, and they have a music player with a variety of songs from the games. One of the songs it plays is I Am (All of Me). I won’t lie, I was a little blown away because I’d never really heard anything like it before, so I go to find out more about the game it’s from and I come across that opening cinematic.

I think it’s very, very, easy as an adult to laugh at the Shadow the Hedgehog game and it’s… direction, but adult me was not the target audience of that game, kid me was. Say what you want but the effect that game was going for I think is something that just hits best with sheltered little kids, and I’d be curious if anyone else had a similar experience.

6) The ending of Sonic and the Black Knight

I won’t go into too much detail on this one, since this is very much a fan favourite moment and many others have gone into detail about why it’s so great. Black Knight is certainly one of the games that captures Sonic’s character the best, and his words at the end of the game certainly encapsulate this. Followed by the amazing credits theme of Live Life, the ending of Black Knight is certainly one of the most emotional moments in the series.

5) Sonic Generation’s credits

Anniversary games can be a bit of a controversial subject for the Sonic fandom; 06 was one of the games released for the 15th anniversary while Forces is often considered to be a 25th anniversary game. I think Generations really achieved the feeling and the specialness of a celebratory event though. It’s one of my favourite Sonic games and the whole game is full of brilliant moments but I feel the credits really evoke the celebration vibe: a Sonic 1-esque music melody as the credits song, showing footage from the original games each stage is from, and the cherry on top: a ‘Happy Birthday’ message to Sonic recorded from fans who attended the 2011 Sonic Boom and Summer of Sonic conventions. It genuinely warms my heart every time I finish the game.

4) Metropolis Capital City level

Forces gets another representation on this list! Honestly, I believe the parts of Forces that were exciting, such as this, really demonstrate my opinion that Forces had a lot of potential to be a really good game. But I digress, this was my favourite level from Forces because it shows how fun of a villain Infinite could be. The way that Infinite follows you for most of the stage and uses illusions to fuck around with the stage itself? That’s really fun, and it’s not just stage gimmicks for the sake of having a gimmick, it ties into the powers of the villain and makes the player feel involved in a way because Infinite is messing around with you specifically and is having to make to think on your toes. Granted, part of makes this stage stand out so much in a good way is because it’s so different from the rest of the game and it takes you by surprise, so maybe the impact wouldn’t be as hard hitting if this sort of design was used more in the game, but c’mon when you have a villain who’s powers are illusion-based, the sky’s the limit!

3) Sonic Unleashed’s opening cutscene

Can you believe this game came out over a decade ago and the opening cutscene still looks this stunning?! Depending on who you ask, some might even argue that this cutscene has yet to be topped, and honestly, I’m in that camp. Not only is the rendering beautiful and the choreography of the action exciting, but this scene does a wonderful job of setting up for the viewer regardless of how much prior experience they have with the series who Sonic and Dr. Eggman are, as well as setting up the events of the game. I recall being very happy when I heard the animation team for this cutscene would also be handling the animation for the movie.

2) Beating Sonic Unleashed for the first time

So, this is another pretty personal one. I played Unleashed for the first time a few years ago and it is in my opinion, one of the most difficult Sonic games. Sometimes intentionally, sometimes for completely bullshit reasons. My first ever run of Eggmanland was around 40 minutes long and apparently that’s considered a pretty decent time for your first go, but christ it was a nightmare to finish (looking at you, that one section where you have to platform on pipes without a drop-shadow). The following boss sections weren’t much easier- I don’t rage much with video games, I tend to whisper swears under my breath at most but that part where you’re running on the Gaia Colossus had me screaming in anger every time I lost a life.

BUT when I finally beat the difficult sections? Felt like finally cracking your back after feeling stiff all day. Like taking the first sip of water after a walk on a hot day. The relief and satisfaction I felt was indescribable and slowly winding down while Dear My Friend plays as the credits theme was blissful. I don’t play difficult games that often so Unleashed is one of very few games that I have this sort of memory with.

1) Watching my dad get the good ending of Sonic 1

Here’s a small amount of backstory for this pick. My dad got his first job at 19 and he used his first pay-check to purchase the then newly released Sega Mega Drive. He had a lot of games for the console including Sonic the Hedgehog. He kept the console and games in good condition, and they were still perfectly playable by the time his first child was born (aka me!). Sonic 1 was the first video game I can remember playing at roughly 2-3 years old. I wasn’t good enough to get past Green Hill Act 3 but I loved watching my dad play through the game.

I’ll admit; his playstyle’s a little odd, he avoids speed when he can and instead, he likes to search for as many rings and extra lives as possible, but it was so enjoyable to watch nonetheless. The best bit was whenever he would manage to get all the chaos emeralds in a playthrough and be able to get the good ending. Sure, the only difference between the good and bad endings is just some flowers, but it was nice to see him be happy that he was able to achieve that ending.

And that’s the end of my list! Upon looking over it I realise most of it is either openings or endings to games…oops. I suppose they tend to be parts of games that get special attention during development since they bookend the journey. When I get around to making the second list, I’m sure it’ll have more variety, and as I said before, I’d be very interested in hearing what everyone else’s favourite moments are!

I have an idea for sonic boom where sonamy boom 3 little kids travel to the past and you know like maybe accidentally used tails invention...when they are in past sonic freaks out at first but then he’s like at the end “am so gonna be the cool parent int the future” teases amy and btw i love ur stories 💗💗

Haha, of course! I swear, as soon as I got on Tumblr and saw your ask, I was like “OMG OMG OPEN A GOOGLE DOC START WRITING DROP EVERYTHING AHHHH”Sorry I’m a bit late, my laptop’s battery went dead and I was scared that the story wouldn’t save, but it did! But now here I am, hope you like it~

“What. The. Hell. Are. Those.” Sonic said, as his eyes grew wide at the little hedgehogs standing right in front of him.

“Hi, dad!” One of the little ones exclaimed. He sure did look a lot like Sonic himself.

“Woah, Sonic, he called you dad! You didn’t tell me you had kids! But don’t you think Amy’s a little too young to have children?” Tails asked his big-brother figure.

“T-Tails, seriously, they aren’t my kids! I’m not dating Amy or anything!” Sonic stuttered. The truth was that he was madly in love with Amy, he just didn’t want to admit it.

“What do you mean, daddy? You always go to mommy everyday and kiss her, and tell her that you love her! You two leave us with Uncle Tails while you go on dates!” The youngest one said. He was an exact replica of Sonic.

“Be quiet, Skid! Daddy tells us that he loves us too! Right, Blur?” The middle one said, looking over to her right, where a midnight blue hedgehog, possibly six, looked up.

“Yeah.” He looked up to Tails. “Uncle Tails, did you make a shrink ray? ‘Cause you look shorter than usual!” Tails looked at himself. He looked completely the same.

“How old are your parents?” Tails asked, hoping he could find out who their parents were. Their parents certainly couldn’t be Sonic and Amy. Amy was only 14, and Sonic was going to turn 18 soon. The oldest child looked about 6. Definitely not Amy’s child.

“Daddy is…” the youngest, who’s name is Skid and was about 3, stared off into space, trying to remember. “27!” Sonic looked surprised. He tugged at his scarf. That would’ve meant that Amy would have his kids at the age of 18...Was he really that much of a wimp?!

“Do mommy and daddy have rings on their fingers?” Tails asked, as if he knew what Sonic was thinking.

“Yes! Mommy has a diamond ring on her finger, along with some other rings.” So, they were engaged at the time?..

“Are they married?” Sonic asked, interrupting Tails from asking the exact same question. All three of the children shook their heads.

“Mommy said that you and her will get married soon, and she said I could be the flower girl!” the middle one giggled. She looked so much like Amy. She had jade eyes, with speckles of emerald in them. Sonic loved her immediately.

“Sonic, these kids must be from the future! How did you three get here?” Tails asked, hoping they would say through his invention.

“Well, you told us not to go near that,” the oldest one pointed to the machine that the kids came through.”

“Fascinating. It must be a time machine.” Tails muttered, forgetting about the four hedgehogs in the room.

“Oh boys! I brought the food you asked for!~” An angelic voice appeared, and the trio ran toward it. Amy was surprised by the sudden warmth on her legs, and found three little hedgies stuck to her, yelling “Mommy!” “You’re back!!” “WHERE WERE YOU?!” Amy wondered whose kids these were and why they were calling her ‘mommy.’ They looked like a mix of herself and Sonic.

“Amy! Thank Chaos you’re here! These kids are from the future! They came through a time machine! They’re ours.” Amy widened her eyes. She looked back at the hugging hedgehogs.

“This isn’t a prank, right? You’re telling the truth?” Amy said in a gentle, sensitive voice, which surprised Sonic, as he was used to hearing her coaching, cheering voice. “You know my feelings aren’t a toy you can just play with.” Yeesh, why was she so moody?

“Ames, it’s not a prank, I swear, they’re our kids.” Amy’s cheeks went red. “No time to fantasize, our future selves are probably worried sick!” Amy shook out of her thoughts and all the questions she had.

“I wasn’t fantasizing! I was just...wondering…” Amy took the kids in her arms, not worrying about their weight, because of the fact that she carries a humongous hammer. She walked over to Tails and put them down. “So, what are your names?” She asked, kneeling down. Sonic had a wave of pride splashing upon his heart. That was weird. It usually happened when Sonic defeated Eggman’s robots or when he saved his friends. The oldest one spoke up.

“I’m Blur, that’s my sister, Ariana, and that,” he pointed to his little brother. “Is Skid.” Amy smiled. She couldn’t believe that these tiny little chubby potatoes were hers.

“Has anyone told you guys how adorable you are?” Only Ariana giggled.

“Yeah, you tell us that everyday, mom.” the oldest one and youngest one said simultaneously. “I see where you get your attitude from.” Amy looked up at Sonic, who was glaring at her.

“Not only attitude, but also good looks~” Sonic posed, pretending to flex his non-existent muscles. Amy suddenly was caught in a daze. She had a lovey-dovey look on her face.

“Oh no, it’s happening again. Even young daddy makes young mommy all red-happy.” Red happy was the sonamy childrens’ way of saying that someone was blushing. They didn’t need an explanation, they understood.

“I WAS RIGHT! IT WAS A TIME MACHIN- Oh sorry, I probably interrupted your little family moment.” Tails said, looking at the young family before him.

“OHOHOHO, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, PREPARE FOR YOUR DOOM!” A loud explosion was heard, and everyone quickly went outside to see Eggman in his Eggmobile, looking confident, as though he was going to win the battle.

“Ames, stay with the kids, take them inside, and make sure Eggman doesn’t see them!” Tails ‘aww’ed at the sight of Sonic being a protective ‘dad’, but quickly regained focus, and went on the X-Tornado to fire missiles. Amy obeyed the order, and quickly grabbed all three of the munchkins and went inside. The kids were squirming, wanting to go outside and participate, but Amy blocked the only way out.

“Mommy, why are you blocking the door? You always let us go Eggbutt’s robots!” Blur cried. Amy was horrified. Will she really be that irresponsible about the kids when she’s older?”

“No. Not today. It’s not safe, you could get hurt!” Amy said, holding the three in her arms. She heard their complaints, and felt their kicks, but held onto them anyway. She noticed Ariana scooted away from the cuddle-pile. Amy let go of the two in her arms, and walked over to the bubblegum hedgehog.

“What’s wrong, Ariana?” Ariana started whimpering, and that got Amy scared. Did she do something wrong? Ariana jumped into Amy’s arms, getting cradled by her mother. The middle child pulled away.

“I just distracted you so that Blur and Skid could go outside.” Ariana giggled, her laugh sounding a lot like Amy when she was four. Amy ran out the door, leaving Ariana in a puddle of laughter. She saw her targets, and almost fainted. They were battling, and helping Sonic! They were running around, beating the crab-bots and bee-bots with Sonic’s spin dash. With so many Sonic’s at once, the robots were all defeated within fifteen seconds. Sonic gathers his future offspring into his arms and threw them into the air. He caught them before Amy has a heart attack. She walks right up to them and starts to scold them.

“You two should be ashamed of yourselves! Your father tells you to stay inside, I tell you to stay inside, but what do you do?! You have your sister distract me with emotion, and run outside and help your father! I just wanted you three to stay safe! You’re lucky your dad didn’t scold you!” Amy had a dark and scary aura behind her that scared Blur and Skid.

“Mommy?” an innocent little voice melted the hearts’ of everyone that had heard her, except her brothers, you deal with this all the time.

“Yes, Princess?” Amy asked, but then looked at herself in shock. She was aware that this was her future child, and she was aware that she’d only just met them.

“I’m sorry I tricked you.” Ariana said, her eyes full of tears. Yes, of course Amy would feel guilty, Sonic just narrowed his eyes at his future child.

“Don’t get all regretful, Ames. I’ve seen this trick before.” Amy turned and looked at him. What trick? “You used to do this all the time. You’d guilt-trip anyone into getting what you want and making sure you were never blamed for something you clearly did.” Amy just glared at him, his words sinking in. Was she really a guilt-tripper? Well, at least she didn’t blackmail. Ariana made a pouting face at the younger version of her dad.

“Well, this was fun and all, but I think it’s time that the SonAmy children head home.” Sonic and Amy spun their heads to their two-tailed fox friend, who was just standing there with a smirk. Amy felt a bit sad, until Sonic held one of her hands. He smiled. Yes, you read right! He smiled at Amy. She felt happy, and took the kids back inside. Tails walked over to the time machine.

“So, while you were hanging out as a family, I figured out how to work this thing!” Tails exclaimed.

“Make sure ya don’t send them to the dinosaur times. Future me and Amy wouldn’t be very happy.” Sonic said, putting his arms behind his back.

“You know Sonic, I’m surprised how you’re this chill about having kids.” Tails replied, acting like he was fixing something in the machine. Sonic dropped out of his pose and glared at Tails. He glanced at Amy and saw her blush. Perfect opportunity.

“Well, Tails, I sure hope we have more than three, cause it must’ve been fun makin’ those kids.” He humped the air as if he were doing that to Amy. Her face went redder than a tomato and she made a disgusted face at him.

“There are children in our presence! Say something appropriate for once!” Amy yelled at him. He just chuckled, doing his signature rub-under-the-nose thing. Amy rolled her eyes.

“What’re mommy and daddy talking about?” Skid asked his ‘uncle Tails.’

“Grown up stuff.” Tails said, trying to avoid that question as much as possible, not wanting his future nieces and nephews getting scarred for life. They nodded. Tails turned to the flirting couple. “It’s time for you to say ‘bye,’” Tails said, while Ariana nuzzled into his leg. He smiled, feeling a tear slide down his cheek. He hugged the little ones, and pushed them to their past parents. They all hugged, Sonic tried to snuggle into Amy’s neck. They let go, and they lead the kids into the time machine.

“Bye, mom and dad!” they all said. Amy felt like crying again. Sonic held onto her waist, making her hit his arm.

“Yeesh, Ames. I was just trying to comfort you!” Sonic exclaimed, rubbing his arm.

“Stop acting like a married couple! You two aren’t married yet here or in their time.” Tails yelled at them, pointing at their future kids. “Okay, ready guys?” Tails asked. They nodded. He pushed a button, causing them and the machine to go back to their time. “Future me is gonna get beat up by future them.” Tails muttered as he saw Sonic kiss Amy’s cheek and laugh at her reaction.

“I’ll be such a cool dad~” Amy rolled her eyes.

“We’ll see about that.”

Well, you never know what’s going to happen in the future.

My opinion about Shadow an Rouge relationship

On June 22, 2020, an interview was uploaded to Ian Flynn, also known for his internet brand, BumbleKing, the lead writer for the IDW Publishing comic series Sonic the Hedgehog.

-Ian, do Shadow and Rouge have any romantic feelings for each other or are they just friends?

Ian: Acording to SEGA neither.

This answer caught the attention of the fandom, and not positively. Before giving my opinion on this, let's review the history of Shadow and Rouge:

Shadow the hedgehog is a creature created by Gerald Robotnik 50 years ago on the ARK space station, he was friends with Gerald's granddaughter, who had a rare disease that did not allow her to be on earth. Shadow and Maria developed a friendship and an enthusiasm for getting to know the earth. GUN, a military organization, went inside the ARK, thinking that Gerald had a plan that would put the earth in danger, Maria was shot in front of Shadow and he was sent to the earth.

In Sonic adventure 2, in the Eggman team story, Shadow was put into suspended animation. Eggman woke him up and Shadow wanted to avenge Maria by destroying the earth, because he acquired a hatred for humanity. Rouge the treasure hunter bat joined Eggman's team, being a double agent and working for GUN. At first there was no interest in eachother, until in her mission on prison island, Rouge is trapped next to the chaos emerald with a bomb about to explode the island. She asks Shadow for help through the communicator, at which point Shadow remembers Maria and helps Rouge. When she tried to find out the reason for that behavior, Shadow said that he only did it for the emerald, which Rouge did not believe. At the end of Sonic adventure 2, after Shadow's sacrifice to save the earth, Rouge talks to Sonic, worry about what happend and about who Shadow really was.

In Sonic heroes, Rouge wakes up Shadow from another suspended animation and Eggman erased his memory, and together with Omega they create a team to go after Eggman. Rouge at that time only united them because she was in search of Eggman's hidden treasure, however as they advanced they began to discover what Eggman was doing with Shadow, he created androids identical to him. When they defeat Eggman and see a mangled android, Shadow watches him while Rouge worries about him. Later Rouge finds all the androids that Eggman had in her base, Rouge talks to Omega about what happened to the authentic Shadow. At the end of the game, their relationship begans to be more united.

In Shadow the Hedgehog, she was thinking only in her own goals, but in the final boss of that game she tells him that she trusts that he will beat him and for her he is "amazing" as well as showing that She was worry about him. Shadow's well-being at the end of the game, that is, less at the end, their relationship was seen as nothing more than a simple alliance, but with the events Rouge told Shadow what she really thought of him.

In Sonic Battle, Rouge rescues Shadow after being shot by one of Eggman's robots, takes him to Club Rouge and watches over him until he wakes up, before Shadow leaves, Rouge stops him for not thanking him for everything who did for him, Shadow thanks him for saving his life, he also asks him about having called him an ally, when Rouge asks if it bothers him, he says no.

In Sonic Rivals, Shadow is on a GUN mission with Rouge, but he loses communication with her, when he finds Eggman, he discovers that he caught Rouge in a letter. When Eggman tells him, he refers to Rouge as his "friend." In the end, upon rescuing her, Rouge thanks Shadow and invites him to a treasure hunt starting with Eggman's other cards, to which Shadow declines and leaves with a smile (YES I highlight that)

And, although it is true that in this game the timeline was erased, it shows us the trust they have in their relationship, no simple a "ally" would tell you this. In Sonic 06, when they discover that in the future Shadow will be locked up for being too powerful and considered a danger by them, they have this little conversation:

Rouge: "Shadow ... Even if you think everyone in the world will be against you ... I want you to know that I will always be by your side ... Remember that ..."

Shadow: "I will"

In other games we are shown that they are in contact with each other and are usually joined together.

After all this summary, I just have something to say… WHAT THE HELL SEGA?

Let's be clear on something, SEGA created the Shadow character as a well-known cliche (which does not have to be bad), a serious character, a hard past that leads to a thirst for revenge, mistrust in other people by those Memories, Shadow is a character that at first would NOT HAVE FRIENDS, and I accept it, BUT I have an important question:

Who is Shadow now?

After recovering his memories, along with Omega and Rouge, among other characters, at the end of Shadow the Hedgehog there is a scene in which Shadow says: "Goodbye forever Shadow the Hedgehog”, and proceeds to throw a photo of Maria and Gerald Robotnik, which made us think that Shadow wants to abandon his past and the pain it causes him and start again. And that is perfect, and one of the reasons why Shadow could improve in this aspect is in his problems to relate with other people, I am not saying that he have to have a GREAT FRIENDSHIP with all the characters, but with the ones that MOST have helped him, and neither I ask that it be of the best friendships, but the trust, something that Shadow and Rouge have between them, and that is PERFECT. And there we come with the problem of Ian Flynn's answer, that answer tells us that Shadow has not ANY character evolution, he is still a dark character, with no interest in the rest of the world but in himself, EVEN there are people who surrounds and loves you. Shadow and Rouge are not just "allies", the behavior they have is not just that of "allies". In fact I am going to do something to prove it, I am going to go to the dictionary to look up the words "Alliance" and "Friendship"

A group of countries, political parties, or people who have agreed to work together because of shared interests or aims

Friendship

The state of being a friend; association as friends (a person who you know well and who you like a lot, but who is usually not a member of your family/ someone who is not an enemy and who you can trust:)

"Trust", "affection", that are the words that breaks with all that sentence, it is true that Shadow does not show affection towards Rouge many times, and it makes sense that he does not, he is not a character that allows himself to be vulnerable, but If Rouge does it to him, even making him be open to her. There are times in other games where we can see this, in Sonic Rivals 2 Rouge convinces Shadow to tell him his secret mission without problem. In Mario and Sonic in the Olympic Winter Games Shadow meets Rouge and tells her about treasures that she could find, so in this game he is interested in what Rouge likes, later Shadow tells Rouge after defeating her along with Eggman and Bowser "I thought I could count on you", that is, he was disappointed that Rouge joined the enemy for egotism, but she has always been like that. In Sonic free riders they team up and finally in Sonic Runners, on Sonic's birthday Rouge tells him that it was impossible for Shadow to come, but that he sends him memories, knowing Shadow, I doubt very much that he is that kind to Sonic, even in their birthday, but this only shows us that they are still in contact.

Shadow and Rouge demonstrate a trust that surpasses a simple “Alliance”, Rouge shows compassion and appreciation towards Shadow, and he also cares about her, in Sonic 06 he saved her before saving the scepter of the darkness. Every time I see these two in games, and I see how their relationship works, it is well done, in fact SEGA does not do it wrong, the problem is when you deny something that, in addition to being what you DEMONSTRATE, you make Shadow, who has advanced as a character THANKS to Rouge, take steps back. Shadow is lately shown as a selfish, jerk, insensitive character, without showing vulnerability, or importance in the rest of the characters, in the beginning Rouge would be the exception, the only one that would show the vulnerability of this character, something that would help him the way we see him, his vulnerability is something that the fandom LOVES, his history touched the fandom and the way he felt was something that matters a lot. Shadow is an example of superation, he lived through a traumatic situation that made him make mistakes, he felt bad, he opened up about it and looked for a solution (Sonic adventure 2) and the problems that came to him, he fought, teaching us lessons he takes from those problems (Sonic 06 for example).

The current Shadow is the Shadow Boom. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with Shadow Boom's personality, it is a totally separate universe that shows Shadow as a simple villain in a world where the characters have different characteristics and personalities to make it something more comical. I must say that it has no use in the Sonic Boom Rise of the Lyric game, NONE, it is only a battle to say "LOOK, we have Shadow in the game, BUY IT TO BATTLE HIM" in Sonic Boom Shaterred Cristal it´s true that there is a reason why it is there, and in the end it has some relevance in the cinematic, and in the Sonic Boom Shadow series it exists as a villain who wants to kill Sonic for no apparent reason, I would like to know why, but that's something else to talk about. The problem is that this Shadow does not have ANY difference with the current Shadow of the games, it is a character that is in the game, treating anyone who speaks to him as a bother, without a reason why he is there. When you see that a version of a "comic" universe makes a character that is exacly like the original, there is a problem with the character itself. In fact, in another interview Ian was asked about Shadow as a GUN agent and he replied that Shadow is not a GUN agent, and does not follow anyone's orders, which is true in Shadow the Hedgehog, but it is more typical of Shadow boom, and in fact it only by happenstance, which DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE, it's just another attempt to say that Shadow is too "cool" for that. I think whoever said these things to Ian was getting confused about which Shadow was talking about.

SEGA does not know what to do with Shadow, he uses it only to earn money, they know that he is one of the most beloved characters in the saga, the problem is that they no longer give the reasons they gave before to be loved, and the only ones that remain, they are tearing them apart. It is no longer interesting as a character, what we loved about Shadow was that fase that is already over and they repeat it, but without an important story behind that explains why. And, the worst thing is that a game, which is a parody of Sonic team´s games, knew how to use Shadow, an idea that seemed splendid to me within the Shadow story. In LEGO Dimensiona, YES, LEGO knew how to use the creation of Shadow, he has a mission in the open world of Sonic, in which he said that to try to make the Maria's dream come true he needed your help to bring hope to the world with “flower arrangements” and he said that he had no idea of flowers or how to "fix" them. The funny thing about this is that Shadow is a creation, he wan´t born on earth, he didn´t spend much time on it, so it makes sense that he didn´t know about stuff like "Flower arrangements", LEGO studied the Shadow character so much that he gave a joke about the origin of the character. Why, if SEGA design him, doesn't know how to use their own character, using the story THEY created, and instead a game, which is a parody, and which studies the characters to make jokes about them, seems to know better the character's logic and gives it more personality than them?

But, although I mainly talk about Shadow and Rouge, I must say that Sonic team's decisions on how to use their characters, apart from Sonic, are very disappointing, it has so many characters with interesting stories, habilits and personalities, and lately they are only on a side of the screen to say "You can do it, Sonic", as if they were not USEFUL or NECESSARY for our blue hedgehog. I know Sonic is the mascot, but if you want to create characters with stories and moments that make them special, why do you throw them away? Why not playing with them? In Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes you did it, we could use all their full potencial, and in Sonic Generations you did phases where they helped Sonic in the adventure, what happened to all of that? In Sonic Forces we had them all and only Sonic and the Avatar were important, of the rest only Shadow was used to create the villain, his revenge and disappeared, and nobody cared about that his fake

Shadow is only a victim of a decline that Sonic team is, hopefully in the next games they can improve and make moments as wonderful as before, but for now ... I'll just say:

Could you please do a Boom prompt about after an intense battle Sonic is too exhausted (not necessarily injured) to go on adventures for at least a couple of weeks so the team finds a replacement leader (a Boom version of Gadget) that everyone welcomes with open arms but as time passes Sonic becomes worried and paranoid about this temporary substitute possibly becoming permanent?

“Ow! Yikes! That hurts! Ahh…” After a painful few turns of the nurse’s adjustments, Sonic relaxed on the couch and she nodded that her work was done.

“Well, he’ll be good as a springy ol’dandelion in no time.” The young, southern nurse wiped her hands with a few sliding claps and then turned to Sonic’s team. “Ohh, but the young man will need plenty of rest. Best to not do anything too dangerous or risky for a while, I’d reckon.” she began to pick up her black Doctor’s purse as Tails gripped his head in panic.

“Why don’t you just say ‘no fun allowed’ and kill us with boredom!”

“Tails, mind your manners.” Amy lightly scolded before turning to the Doc, “Thank you so much for your help. We’ll make sure he stays well-rested.” she bent her body a bit, rubbing her hands together as she escorted the Doc out the door.

“Oh, well, thank you. What a kind young woman you are-”

She then slammed the door and her eyes widened, “What are we gonna do without Sonic!?”

Sticks also leaped up onto the couch, looking down at Sonic with her boomerang behind her, “I told you not to go stepping on tinfoil laid over a mossy bank with a pine needle pointing south to southwest!”

“What does that even mean?” Sonic groaned, leaning his head up. “It’s over. We can’t disband the team, but that also means we can’t go adventuring till I heal from this mess…” he flopped his head back into the pillow of Amy’s couch, as the rest of the gang looked to one another, not sure how to break it to him.

“Weeeeellll….” Amy began, as Tails took over.

“It’s not like we have to have you in order to have fun…”

“Hey! No, no, no! This sound like a mutiny! Traitors! Every last one of ya!” Sonic, currently laying on his stomach, tried to turn around and shake his fist at them, but something in his back popped unexpectantly. “Yeouch..!” he froze in place before Sticks suddenly grabbed him and kicked him back into place with her foot, letting once again another howl escape from Sonic’s mouth.

“Hmm… I know! We’ll put an ad up!” Knuckles brought out a wrinkly newspaper and straightened it out with a quick whip of its long pages. “I might not know how to read, but thankfully, the job section has big pretty pictures to show you what they want from ya!”

He showed the gang, but Amy tilted her head, “Knuckles, these are for buying old or used items.”

“Oh, guess I’m color-blind.”

“What? It’s in black and white!” Tails gestured.

“Oh, guess I can read between the lines then.”

He folded the paper as the two just stared, but Amy sighed and continued, “Maybe Knuckles has a point.”

“He does!?” Tails turned incredulously over to Amy.

“No, no. Not like that. I mean about posting an ad. Just… a temporary replacement leader so we all have a sense of direction on how to have the most dangerous amount of fun as possible.” She jumped and held her hands in a fighting stance, leaping to her coffee table and then carefully dismounting with one foot fall at a time, she then held a cute stance.

“Huh, you may be on to something Knuckles.” Tails scratched his chin, as Sticks continued to perform a weird chiropractic catastrophy while they weren’t looking, forming Sonic’s limps and twisting his cartoonish body into a work of art…

“I’m game. As long as I can help my friends.” She suddenly nudged him and his whole body contorted back into his original structure.

“Ouch…” He muttered, muffled by the pillow.

It wasn’t long before a silent but resourceful ‘replacement hero’ joined the team. Named “Gadget” lovingly by the team for his kind and helpful spirit but amazing tools, they set out and had a ton of fun together. Not only doing dangerous feats and stunts but also taking on Eggman.

Sonic, watching the news, noticed everyone having fun and pulled himself off the couch, jealousy and worry about being replaced motivating him to do something about it.

Tails fell by Gadget’s side, “Offph!” but Gadget bent down and helped him up, giving him a thumbs up and fist bump. “Alright, you’re the best buddy to have onboard, Gadget!”

Sonic, still a bit hurt, suddenly made a face like his heart was spiked and growled, racing by the two. “He’s still my best friend!” He grabbed Tails and ran off to find the others.

Gadget, shrugging, ziplined over to Knuckles and took out a few robots on the way as he knocked into them. “Hey, that was awesome!” Knuckles cheered, also giving a fist bump to him and thumbs up. “You’re one cool dude, Gadget!”

“I’m still the coolest!” Sonic zoomed into Knuckles, now carrying him along for the ride as well as Knuckles let out a ‘Ye-Ohffph!’ as he was rammed into.

Gadget looked a bit confused but swung down on his line to Amy which had hooked right beside her. He took her hand and she threw her hammer to have the building collapse on the robots that were trapping her from below.

She looked up to him, her eyes shining as Gadget winked to her.

When he put her down, he went for a fist bump which she giggled at and gave shyly back. “My hero~”

“Still you’re only hero!” Sonic, right on cue, also raced into her as Gadget scratched his head before Sticks hopped down and gave him a hug from behind.

“Aww~ Does this mean you’re all mine?”

There was a moment where Gadget just looked to her, and the two half-expected Sonic to come out… but he didn’t.

“HEY!” Sticks, offended, looked around and let go of Gadget, “You tellin’ me I’m not worth being insecure over!?”

“I’m not insecure!” Sonic, like a bullet-train, finally caught up and zipped into the screen, also plucking her from her spot.

At this point, Gadget just rolled his eyes and smiled with kind eyes. He seemed to understand now.

Sonic, still looking a bit hurt, placed his friends down and heaved a bit, pushing up from his bent knees to talk to the gang.

“I can do it! I can save the day! Me! And the rest of you! Ha…Ha… My… Friends?” he was clearly not doing well, but the gang was touched by his sentiment.

“Of course we’re still friends, Sonic.” Tails got up and held him steady.

“Yeah, we would never forget about you.” Amy also held him up from the other side.

“But… But you were all having such a fun time with Gadget… I-I-I thought…” Looking to his two friends, he seemed stunned to hear them say that.

“Now, Sonic. Just because I buy a fancy new toaster doesn’t mean I want my toast any different.” Knuckles patted his head, but Sonic and the gang still looked a bit confused by the metaphor.

“In other words, the big bloke is saying that just because we have a new friend now, doesn’t mean we don’t want the friendships we’ve already got.” She smiled to Knuckles who looked down at her, a bit confused.

“No, I was talking about how I bought a new toaster from that newspaper ad, but all my toast comes out differently and with Sonic’s face on it.”

“Wait, my face is where?” Sonic was momentarily distracted but Eggman began herding all the citizens together, having a ray-gun that would brainwash them into being his mindless slaves.

Gadget came over to the gang, gesturing that the citizens needed help.

“What’s that Gadget? Little Timmy fell in the well?” Tails tried to understand but Gadget shook his head.

“Hmm… Oh, I got this.” Tails pulled out UT.

But because he wasn’t making sound, UT was useless.

“Hmm… I guess I do kinda miss your sassy jokes and puns, Sonic.” Tails turned back to Sonic who proudly took that comment as Gadget hunched forward, exhausted from the statement made.

The town was soon saved and the gang grew a bit jealous, all watching Sonic and Gadget becomes really good friends before they finally kicked him out and went back to being a team.

However, each of them did hang out with Gadget every now and then, but watch as the kettle calls the pot black!

I’m a big fan of AUs and the freedom that fans have to explore Sonic or any fandom in ways that diverge from the source material, but with AUs and more recent Sonic stuff being what a lot of new fans brought in from the movie will see, the possibility of providing false information is far to high if we are not careful. That SEGA also spreads misinformation only makes matter worse and it is the heart of this particular post.

One of the biggest misconceptions of Sonic that SEGA perpetrates both through retcons and from Sonic Generations onward is that Sonic before the Sonic Adventure (Adventure henceforth )rebranding back in 1998/1999 is that “Classic Sonic “ as he is dubbed these days is possessed of an age of around eleven and is even shorter than Sonic’s 1 meter/3′3″ height. The height can actually be sourced to a profile of Metal Sonic’s that lists him at around seventy something centimeters as well as Generations making him shorter to account for the difference in proportions. But the truth is, Sonic was always listed at 1 meter tall, both before and after the Adventure redesign.

Age on the other hand is where things get really strange. Again, a retcon for Generations makes sense to an extent, especially when you consider that the characters had their ages shuffled around as it was with the Adventure redesign. Amy aged up from 8 to 12 and Knuckles aged up from 15 to 16. Tails remained the same but Sonic actually received a subtle change. Bios that listed Sonic’s age before Adventure typically listed him at 15 to 16 years old. That would actually make him the same age or older than his Adventure onward counterpart. But it gets even weirder. According to the Sonic Technical Files (currently hosted by Sonnic Fansite Sonic Retro here - http://info.sonicretro.org/Original_Story) Sonic was actually originally thought about to be even older, around 18 years old. Suddenly, Sonic from his typically dubbed Classic Era is actually definitively older than his modern counterpart, yet is portrayed as a younger bubbly child from Sonic Generations onward. And I assure you, this is a retcon.

If you grew up in the 90s like I did and were introduced to Sonic when he debuted back in 1991, then you will remember the western advertising over embracing his teenager with an attitude description. And it wasn’t just in game ads, it was in all Sonic media available in the west. The US cartoons, the Archie and Fleetway comics, and so on, portrayed Sonic as an uppity teenager with an attitude problem (some cases being far worse than others). That teenager of a high school age mentality was the backbone for why the Archie Sonic comics were littered with teenager romance drama, which would look rather distasteful if you think about it post retcons now. But they were not at fault for portraying Sonic based on being high school age. The material and information they were provided told them as such and so they based their interpretations off of that available information.

But it wasn’t just a western mistake either. If not for input from key members of SEGA of America (henceforth SoA) Sonic would be rather different and would even have had a human girlfriend by the name of Madona who was anything but a child.

Madonna was not the only time it happened either as one of the last pieces of pre-Adventure release Classic Sonic material is the Sonic OVA or Movie produced by Japanese animation studio Studio Peirrot where a catgirl (read human girl with cat ears and a tail) was the main love interest and whom even Eggman/Robotnik wanted to marry (it’s weird, I don’t argue that). But more importantly, two of Sonic’s primary creators, Yuji Naka and Naoto Oshima, were listed as Production Directors for the two episode Original Video Animation (OVA) and were rumored to be involved quite a bit with the film. You can typically find it on youtube though I recomend the subbed version, bad video quality and all, to get a better representation of the Japanese perspective. It’s really eye opening and was very nostalgic in when I first watched it post Sonic Generations release.

The thing is though, the OVA released in 1996, years before the Adventure rebranding, and is strongly believed to be how Naka and Oshima see the character. This is actually reflected in the Sonic Adventure redesign as Yuji Naka on record (a shame I can’t find the link) has stated that Sonic was redesigned to bring him closer to the original character idea and to erase the growing cute identity that he was developing due to marketing. He even goes on to say that Sonic was never intended to be cute and that being a cute mascot character would inevitably pit him against Hello Kitty which would not have ended well. Yet, SEGA retconned the Naka/Oshima Sonic into being a bubbly hyperactive kid who was much shorter and generally hyper cute compared to his more modern interpretation of the character. This retcon is only made even more complicated when SEGA decided they didn’t like their “New” Classic Sonic being treated as the same character as their Legacy Sonic and even retconned that come Sonic Forces to say that he was actually from a different dimension. Years after Sonic Forces release that decision still riles up many more dedicated fans as it breaks the series continuity. Arguably, it has too. After all, if Naka/Oshima Sonic is older than Legacy/Modern Sonic and has the same height yet New Classic Sonic is shorter and strangely mute then something had to be changed or it just starts to fall apart for a cohesive narrative. Of course Amy’s four year gain already threw things into question but on it’s own was fairly harmless considering her role in the franchise as the main female lead and primary love interest. But New Classic Sonic’s muteness is what this post will be carrying on from.

One of the biggest misconceptions of Sonic before the Adventure redesign is that he did not speak. The primary reason for this misconception I usually attributed to him not speaking in the classics. this is actually a false statement as Sonic speaks in Sonic the Hedgehog CD, SegaSonic the Hedgehog, and is quite the chatterbox in a Japanese only popcorn machine. Admittedly, these are all difficult to experience items, especially pre-Adventure, but by the time of Soinc Generations’ release a good deal of these could be researched and Sonic CD was readily available to the public again thanks in no small part to Christian Whitehead of Evening Star Studios. but even outside of the games SOnic was shown to talk quite a bit before the Adventure redesign. Again both the western comics and cartoons and even numerous Japanese comics all showed him speaking quite a bit before the Adventure redesign. Of a more canonical nature however, the Japanese instruction manuals for most of the games from the original onward will show Sonic talking.

So, where did this misconception gain enough steam to become a retcon? It’s hard to say, but there are a lot factors that could lead to it. Major fan backlash was threatened when Generations was first revealed if they got Sonic’s voice wrong and hat it’d be better if he didn’t talk at all. SEGA is known for overreacting to negative feedback at odd and seemingly random times and this appears to me to be yet another case of it. But his muteness only got weirder when people started latching on to him being mute as a matter of shyness. I don’t know where that one originated from, but Sonic’s shyness is actually a trait of his, but it is specifically tied to how he feels about his self-proclaimed Amy Rose. When asked about, Yuji Naka once said that Sonic does likely like Amy deep down, but is too shy to act on those feelings. Naoto Oshima expands further on that stating that Sonic has a boyish immaturity in regards to his feelings and thus won’t act on them but should he mature in that regard he would end up with Amy. In other words, boyish immaturity and shyness are part of Sonic’s character, but they only reflect on certain facets of his character. His shyness and immaturity of his feelings for Amy though were instead stretched out to cover most of his character resulting in New Classic Sonic being a mute, when Naka/Oshima, Legacy/Modern, BOOM! (just to throw in another iteration where he is shy about his feelings for Amy), and even Movie Sonic are all rather talkative.

So that there is three misconceptions about pre-Adventure Sonic that are perpetuated officially by New Classic Sonic effectively being placed over Naka/Oshima Sonic. Again, I don’t aim to bash fanfics and AUs as I love them and the way they explore the characters in new ways, but for the sake of new fans not being overly confused, it should be noted if your Classic Sonic is New or Generations based, or the Naka/Oshima, pre-Adventure version. There are hugely massive differences between them with things like height, age, and talkativeness being hugely noticeable. Otherwise, keep writing, drawing and having fun, and may all of the movie’s fans who find their way into the fanbase enjoy themselves

✪ Fusion.Fall AU: Synopsis ✪

( Alright-y, as for those who still have interest in this or for those I have discussed this with, I know this is long overdue. In fact, I have branched out my Noir!AU before I’ve done this one, even though I thought of this AU first. However, I have played enough of the game to get a proper idea on how I want this blue boi to be in this universe.

As for this Sonic, I am using the Boom version of him. Not only is he a CN show to fit into this universe, but this universe of him makes it all the more easier for me to blend this hedgehog in the story.

BACKSTORY:

Bygone Island was home to the land of bipedal animals known as “Mobians.” It’s a small island way off the coast of Orchid Bay, where the aforementioned “Skull Island” is near. While the fact of a anthropomorphic species hanging around on this dinky piece of land, it doesn’t weird out too many people considering there’s such things as Imaginary Friends, a talking, cowardly dog, and the grim reaper existing.

Sonic and his friends, as well as the rest of the islanders, were living their lives as peacefully as they could (while there can be some Eggman attack here and there, but it wasn’t too dangerous). No one was aware of the upcoming threat approaching the planet.

That is, until one day Tails decided to check on his telescope, and he’s seen something that he’s never seen in his entire life: A huge, green planet coming straight towards them, acting like a second moon to the sky. And, really, Eggman isn’t that far behind to knowing about this too.

Rivalries and constant battle against one another has been cut short due to this planet. Despite their differences and utter dislike towards one another, the hedgehog and the mad scientist began to team up in order to figure out what in the world can they do to stop this thing.

However, it’s far too late.

Green meteorites the size of monster trucks began smashing against the surface of the island, infecting it with toxic slime of Fusion Matter. The village has been in shambles, having some people’s homes containing terra-fusers and creating monsters by the minute. Monsters began attacking the villagers ruthlessly, along with the heroes.

Sonic fought with every fiber of his living being. Every bone in his body ached by every hit and every strain, but he continued to fight until he’s on his last leg. He won’t rest until he’s down for the count and did everything he could.

Unfortunately, his and his friends’ efforts at fighting weren’t successful by any means. There were too many numbers, and the island was becoming more infected as they fought. Due to this, Tails and Eggman then created ships in order to have everyone evacuate.

Not everyone made it, though. Some people were swallowed up by the fusion matter, some were killed, and some were separated in the ships. For the first time in his life, Sonic has become an evacuee and one of the victims of Fuse’s attack.

Thus, he bet on his life to protect others; using his speed to help as many people as he can... Including his beloved friends.

LOCATION:

While it’s odd that he’s not at Orchid Bay in order to have surveillance on the island, he’s at Mount Blackhead to keep a check on the Wilds part of the world. The lost of his home has hit him hard, and thus, he vowed to not only help the people, but the wildlife as well to keep it from being infected.

He’s in the back of the outpost, right where the walkway is to enter Twisted Forest. And yes, as an NPC, he has his own set of missions too.

MISSIONS:

Bye, Gone Island - Nano Mission: Sonic calls you in one at a mission, detailing worrying facts about how the attack on Bygone Island wasn’t only for Fuse to gain land and take it over... It was to also steal the heroes’ identity in order to make more fusions; especially Sonic’s.

For that reason, he is targeted specifically by Fuse, much like Ben with the Omnitrix. For this mission, he was surrounded by monsters, and taken away from the outpost. For this, he has to be rescued at Bygone Island; an Infected Zone.

When finding the fusion portal, Sonic calls in to state that a Fusion Sonic has been formed and telling you to be careful and to take it down. When rescuing Sonic, he becomes an assist to help you take out the fusion. Fusion Sonic’s attacks are faster than other fusions, including giving out drains to your Nanos’ stamina/powers.

When its defeated, you gain your Sonic Nano.

Flower Fiasco: Sonic gives you this mission in order for you to head out to Steam Alley to fight fusion monsters. The reason? Well, he embarrassingly tells you it’s to protect Grim Gardens. He checks in Grim’s store time and again just to get some flowers - Even if some are paranormal.

Beach Day Disaster: You get a message from Sonic, telling you that you need to head to the Infected Zone of Bygone Island to gather snapshots. Not only to see the current state of the island, but for Dexter to observe more closely on its infection.

A Brother’s Letter: Sonic’s request is for you to hand this letter to the Science District. More specifically; at Mojo’s Volcano where Tails is (and hesitantly working with Mojo and Eggman, oh boy. It’s for a good reason, though, as it’s to fight against Fuse). Tails happily reads out the letter and hands out his own letter, saying you should give it to Sonic. When getting it, Sonic appears to be touched as well.

There’s probably gonna be more ideas of missions in the future, but this is what I have for now.

THE FUTURE:

Before the fall of Tech Square, you come across a statue of Sonic’s grinning face. The statue has become decayed and containing little pockets of Fusion Matter. After the fall, it’s been confirmed that Sonic has been missing for quite some time, and has been presumed dead by a couple known NPCs.

Later down the road, you’ll gain this mission to learn more about him and his status:

The Fastest Fusion Alive: A mission in which you learn that Sonic is indeed alive, but not in the greatest of shapes. In fact, he’s been known to have been controlled by Fuse for quite some time, due to the fact of his fusion capturing him.

It’s your duty to fight him first, expel the fusion out of him by doing so, and fighting his fusion. This is the first instance of fighting Fusion Sonic, while the nano mission is the second. You then talk to Sonic, who’s then confused and weary of his surroundings. He’s been finally saved and to be soon in recovery from the fusion infection - And from Fuse.

There will probably be more to add later, but this is all for now!~ )

Sonic Movie Franchise Concepts

This.......I've been wanting to make this yet I'm nervous. Including I discarded the intro making the first time. Yet just I feel this needs to be made. But I was thinking DeviantArt or Tumblr first. Then I thought maybe Tumblr cause I'm a bit more popular here. I'm gonna say this all of this is mainly a parody yet I'm wanting to be honest. The whole Sony Sonic movie 2018 gets to me and the fact I've thought of ideas for a franchise. I'm really wanting to share stuff like quotes and synopsises which are explaining what the story is in a short way you know. I was really inspired but I did not want to rip off this persons funny picture thing with Kevin Fiege and Zack Snyder. Let me say I really like both of them, I like both MCU and the DCEU. They are both not perfect and mainly...this is a parody thing but it's me being honest. Including with myself. I'm thinking yeah copying this and putting it on DeviantArt. So let's get started. Including literally Sonic going to a court hearing and official's questioning do we need a Sonic The Hedgehog which makes him question himself and it honestly breaks him. Also in the same movie people realize we need a hedgehog to save our asses but help him too in the same movie where he's dealing with the God Of Destruction in his perfect form. Also robots questioning their life such as Metal Sonic who at times in my fan fiction ideas has had thought about commiting suicide cause his whole purpose in life and how he is and depressing, yet that's revealed in a Metal Sonic spin off comic if Archie Comics can do it. Also themes like corruption like Eggman or Robotnik named in this universe Eggman's an insult mainly by Sonic and others, that Eggman has the power that he's friends with certain powerful people. Including give a brutal comeback to these people then realize you'll be worse then them. Also Shadow and Chaos realizing the world has changed and not to stereotype cause they focus all of their anger in one thing. Chaos is a bit more simple, yet Shadow is more deep, cause he doesn't wanna let go of Maria and is straight up helping the plan go forth, getting the footage of Gerald's exucation, playing it for the world, GUN doesn't destroy the ARK in case if they wanna destroy a hostile country. I really don't like governments, Shadow knows what he's doing and to change his mind he almost kills somebody who found tapes of what happened 50 years ago. Including when Shadow see's other trying to protect this character he realizes the monster he's been wanting to destroy. He has PTSD and is mentally ill. Seriously he doesn't like to cry and hearing the name Maria said by someone else unless it's him or Gerald get him upset. It's genius and emotional also fixing plotholes makes it better too! Also the idea Shadow along with Sonic but it's mainly Shadow saves the planet, gets stabbed, they think he's killed including he falls to the Earth. People legit make a statue of him in memory cause he sacrificed himself. It's deep just like Metal Sonic having Sonic's memories freaking out and asking why Sonic said Amy, Super Sonic fighting but also talking to Chaos that the world's changed, also E-102 Gamma at Station Square too deciding if he should live or release the bird, and Amy and Metal Sonic see Gamma blow his face off with a gun releasing the Flicky. Along with Metal Sonic giving a Chaos Emerald to Sonic realizing robots like him can think beyond his Ai it inspires and the world needs more positivity. It's serious yet meaningful. The themes are strong here man" Serious Side Of GeekGem: "......that first part was good but the rest.....I understand Sonic Adventure 2 was dark, just.....that's a bit ummm extreme okay not really. We wanna put easter eggs such as a mention or a reference if you see something. Yet they won't be important for the movie their in, sometimes in the background, or mentioned causally like Eggman being related to Gerald, and also even post credits and end credits scene cause those help. Even one setting up the first sequel about Chaos, and after that setting up the second sequel about Shadow and how it connects with the first sequel. Along with even a scene during the credits with Eggman's robots finding Shadow on Earth unconscious, in a huge meteor like crash hole and he's still alive. Also I thought of cool titles that reference and are important to the movies such as Sonic The God Of Destruction hope other world countries don't mind that, and Sonic The Ultimate Lifeform. Really cool and I thought about putting the word the for the Chaos one. Sorry also.....yeah I guess everyone yet I like to put deep stuff in it. I really want people to understand why Sonic is loved and that they can like it too, maybe they could become a fan. Give them a good movie, that's what's important. Ello! I'm a big fan of all your work, and I just want to request a prompt if that's alright. Sometimes I like to imagine that the Sonic Boom characters are really just older versions of themselves from the games, thus their personalities has changed a little. For example, Amy is no longer openly obsessing over Sonic. I was wondering if you can write a story that takes place between the Modern!Sonic timeline and Sonic Boom timeline where Sonic starts to notice and question Amy's new personality.

Prompt:

“Oh my hero!!!” A small Amy Rose held her arms out to embrace him.

Why does she do that? Can’t she tell I’m-

Sonic let the strange girl embrace him, but he stepped back a bit; exaggerating his movements as he tried to lightly put his hands to the sides of her shoulders.

With a light tug, he was able to have her let go.

She never seemed to care or notice that he would let her have her movement, before moving on.

But as she got older… She would take any opportunity to try and get closer to him.

It was so exhausting…

Sonic looked up from the outdoor table at the ‘date’ Amy arranged, wagging his foot out that balanced on his knee while he waited anxiously for the day to be over.

At the end of it, Amy insisted on him taking her for a run, even when she would voice that she was getting tried of him simply carrying her all the time.

She wanted something more… something interesting.

I was always nervous it wasn’t enough for her anymore…

Sonic frowned as she once again would hug him… but this time,…

Before he could even lightly touch her shoulder, she already started to pull away.

At first, he smiled shyly, but now he looked surprised.

Her face… was distant.

Why is she so sad?

Was it something I said?

Sonic began to look over his shoulder, and realize that Amy wasn’t as enthusiastic about keeping up with him on his adventures like she used to be.

Life began to shift, and suddenly she was more interested in little projects here and there then chasing after him.

Puzzled… Sonic took the opportunity to engage her back into his life.

When Tails mentioned an Island where a small village lived, and that they could spend some relaxing years there while Eggman set up camp; he took the chance to see her again.

With Eggman building a lair there… it was probably best the team hung out there to make sure he wasn’t up to no good.

Would the village be able to defend themselves without him and his team? Pfft.

Sonic smirked and raced off to get Amy, trying to find her anywhere he could.

Amy… Amy… Where are you?

It was always easy for Amy to find Sonic.

And for the first time…

He envied that.

Amy… Amy… Amy..?!

He spotted her in a shop, not having seen her in quite some time.

“Amy!…huh?”

He was shocked to see her so grown… a figure in a new look, a lady instead of a child.

She turned around and smiled. The features on her face still resembled the girl he knew… but something was somehow…

Different.

“Amy…”

“Oh, Sonic!” She happily waved.

He was used to her at least running up to him…

He shook himself out of it, and walked up. “Tails found out where Eggman was vacay-ing too. Want to ruin his fun?” He smirked, gesturing a thumb behind him.

“What do you mean? Like… we’re all going to live there?” Amy blinked her eyes, as Sonic opened his own excited ones and nodded, leaning up.

Amy’s eyes widened, and he was proud to show off his height now~

“Yep! What do ya say!? Up for some more adventures?”

“An island..?” Amy looked away smiling as she seemed to think about it.

She put a hand up to cup her cheek. “Oh! Beaches and jungles! New adventures! And everyone being so close again! How could I refuse?!” She excitedly squealed, kicking a leg up and out.

“Heh, nice try, Amy.” Sonic stuck his nose up, “But just because the island is small, doesn’t mean you’ll be able to catch me off guard or anything.”

It was mostly said to be sarcastic and humorous, but he was surprised by her response.

“Oh, that doesn’t matter. It’ll be fun to hang out, but I’m more excited about getting a tan!” She turned to the fabric and picked something out. “Besides, you’ll probably see me fighting off Eggman too! I’ve changed a lot in a few years! Oh, I see you let your hair grow out on your arms? Nice!” she lightly went to feel, before giggling and turning back, flinging a brown fabric towards him.

“Hmm… This one is good, but maybe this outfit won’t go well with a scarf..?” she kept looking around, before flapping her hands out as if giving up. “Oh, who am I kidding. It’s a ISLAND! I won’t need a scarf!” she laughed and dashed out, before waving off to him.

“See you at Tails’s, Sonic!”

He held the brown fabric… almost hurt by the fact she didn’t flirt back or even try too…

He looked down at the scarf…

“…Maybe you won’t try…” he tied the fabric around his neck like a bandanna, and then smirked, turning around. “But I haven’t given up so easily! And I know you haven’t either!” He dashed towards Tails, admiring his new fashion statement.

He held it up by a hand before taking a sniff and looking up. “All she needs is another push… shouldn’t be a problem!”

However…

Arriving on the island, Amy acted more like a ‘chum’ than she did beforehand…

It was easier for him to be around her, but odder for him to see her the way he used too.

It was kinda sad for him, to see her not even try and make a move, but also made things more comfortable in that he could always be around her and not feel the need to keep any walls up.

They ended up getting closer…

And when Amy did make plans for something, she never called them ‘dates’, and he was able to say ‘yes’ to more alone time with her.

He… kinda liked that.

It was casual, easy, free…

“That was fun, Ames!” Sonic stated, walking her home one day before she stopped laughing and turned to look at him.

“Ames?”

She seemed almost touched, as he turned around and put his hands down from behind his head, scratching his nose and avoiding her stare.

“Oh yeah. I thought it’d be a good idea for a nickname. It doesn’t bother you, does it? I know it’s not really original or nothing, but it’s quick, rolls off the tongue, kinda cute when you say it right and well-”

She suddenly hugged him.

He was surprised, it had been a long time…

His arms came down and so did his eyelids, but she pulled away right before he could even try and return the embrace…

He nervously moved back as if he wasn’t going to hold her back.

“H-heh.. what was that for?” he acted cool, playing it off as he lightly rubbed his arm, growing… strangely more awkward and nervous than he ever had before…

“Oh, just a thank you…. Sonic.” she smiled… something he could never pull his eyes from.

He smiled back.

“Glad it made ya happy,… Ames.” he winked.

She nodded and continued to her home, “Well, this is my place. Sorry for the hug, by the wa-”

He slammed his hand on the door at lightning speeds, suddenly stopping her from advancing as she flinched back, and turned to him as he leaned on the door.

His elbow now kept it shut as he looked to her and then away, trying to once again seem ‘casual’ and ‘cool’.

“Sorry? F-f-for what? I’m used to it. It’s been a while. Ehem. Are those shoes new?” he looked down.

She raised an eyebrow, but didn’t seem to realize he was stalling…

“Hehe, the whole outfits new, Sonic.” she looked down and moved her shoes around, showing off before flipping her hair and posing a second. “Haven’t you noticed?”

“More than you’d think…”

“Huh?” she blinked her eyes open as he stared at her…

“Bah-wh-wha-whelp!” he clapped his hands and moved off the door, before gesturing to it and swaying his arms out that way. “You’re probably tried and haa~ So am I~” he stretched and faked a yawn. “You should get to bed. I’ll um… just… walk around here.” he kicked a foot out, putting his hands behind his back and whistling as he took off with a merry little bounce in his step.

she was still suspicious, but figured- this was Sonic we’re talking about- and looked up, shaking her head at even thinking the thought, before heading inside.

When she closed the door… Sonic turned back to it, his smile suddenly becoming a genuine look of missing her.

Now that Amy’s holding back… I’m starting to want some of the old days back…

He sighed, his shoulders coming down as he looked forlorned and kicked a rock out.

Guess I’m just a few years too late…

His eyes suddenly lit up as he looked to her window.

Or maybe.. just too slow!

He looked around and a few feet away, there was a sunflower that was lying on the ground. Probably blown off from the strong winds the islands got.

He opened his mouth wide into a grin, and looked back at her window.

He took some courage and grabbed the flower, heading up to the window.

However…

Before he could surprise her, he heard her conversing on the phone.

“Boyfriend? Oh please! I’ve moved on since then!”

His face sunk a little… his excitement leaving him suddenly…

She waited a second before responding to the person on the phone. “Emhmm. I’m a new woman now! you know what that means! The world is mine for the taking and I don’t need any stinkin’ man!”

Sonic dropped the flower into the room and dashed off.

“Haha! That’s right! And this time..-”

Well, if that was the case… might as well just let life take it’s course…

Get close while I still could be close…

-What he didn’t hear-

Phone: So you’re not gonna call him your boyfriend anymore?

“Boyfriend? Oh please! I’ve moved on since then!”

Phone: Oh.. you’re taking on a new strategy then!?

“Emhmm. I’m a new woman now! You know what that means! The world is mine for the taking and I don’t need any stinkin’ man!”

Phone: hahaah, that’s right! Only a ‘Hero’ will do!

“Haha! That’s right! And this time…-

I’m gonna make that Sonic respect me!

With his own free will….

He’s gonna fall and chase me into love!”

Phone: Good luck, Amy! Me and Cheese are rooting for you! ‘Chao Chao!’

Amy hung up the phone after saying goodbye, before almost stepping on something that crumbled slightly under her feet.

Reaching down, she touched her heart and admired the beautiful sunflower, before looking around and up at her roof’s window.

“Did you get blown in here, little fella?” she smiled and looked down at it, putting it into a water jar.

“There. Now you can flourish in a new home!” She lightly stroked the petals. “Much like something else I hope will grow..”
