Chilchuck’s wife and family - Facts, theories and headcanons
I want to keep this as a sort of masterpost on Chil’s family situation if I can, but if we get a lot of information on it (in the additional content that Kui is gonna make) that renders this more or less useless I probably won’t update this anymore. If you find other crumbs of information or I've said anything factually incorrect please do tell me! I'm planning to edit this as we go since I want to compile most if not all of the information and pages we get about this topic on here, and if I just wait to post it perfection paralysis will nip this in the bud. It focuses a lot on Chilchuck and Chilchuck's wife relationships, but the daughters and Chilchuck's own parents and siblings are talked about as well.
CW/disclaimer: This post talks about messy family dynamics and such, there’s no outright abuse I’m implying anywhere, but alcoholism and neglect are mentioned and discussed. I’m not here to demonize anyone! I love every character involved and I just want to theorize about the topic as a layered issue that involves complex characters. Also, I try to use very transparent language as to when I’m citing or analyzing canon information and when I’m giving a personal interpretation or headcanoning.

Let’s start with the facts, shall we?
Timeline and circumstances

So, we see that Chilchuck and his wife are childhood friends, and they married at 13 years old and had two children in that same year. Since half-foots reach the age of maturity at 14, they seem to be what we'd call teen parents. It's a bit debatable though, since Laios says the age of maturity for tallmen (humans) is 16 instead of 18 or even 21, so what's considered to be the age of maturity is a cultural thing and isn't fully reliable when we want to compare to our irl understanding and what developmental stage it perfectly aligns with. Also, during the succubus chapter Chichuck says that his daughters were all now of age to be independent, and Chilchuck's wife leaves to live with Flertom, which would mean that Puckpatti was independent at age 10 and lived away from home as well (since she's the third/last daughter). Ah yes another interesting thing to note is that we don’t know the pregnancy periods for the races, since Meijack and Flertom were born the same year. It could be tight timing or it could be something else, but I don’t think they’re twins, they keep talking about them being the oldest and the middle child, them being twins is definitely the sort of thing that would get mentioned.
Him starting working on the island notably happens just one year before his wife leaves him. I don't remember the other instances of him mentioning it though I feel like it happened, but since he started working at the Island's dungeon, working as a dungeon diver and then forming the half-foot guild, that probably means he started being away for longer periods of time and having a less reliable schedule on when he'd be coming back home. It is said that he went back home somewhat regularly iirc, though he usually ends up sleeping at the half-foot guild quarters. I'm not sure if Kahka Brud is also where he lived with his family, or just since he rented someplace new after she left him. He and his timeline state that he was born in a small village "northeast of the island", which he left at 14 one year after being married, but it isn’t stated where they go after so it’s unsure how far his home was from the island if it wasn’t in Kahka Brud. We don’t know when his father died so if that factors in to him leaving his village we have no clue.

Chil also says that he hasn’t seen or spoken with his wife nor daughters since the incident, which would mean he's gone 4 years without contact with his family during the events of canon. I don't remember if Chilchuck is said to exchange letters with his daughters, beyond the initial one from Flertom saying her mother was with her, so I've been assuming he hasn't.

He also says "For about ten years I’ve been travelling to dungeons in various areas and doing work" which considering he’s turning 29 that year would mean he started around 19 years old? The panel also gives details what sort of work he’s been doing. Either way it’s confirmed that Chilchuck travels for his work a lot.
In addition, since Chilchuck has the seal of approval of the bicorn + says so himself, he has always stayed faithful to his wife. So that means that unless he's had previous adventures before he was 14 and got married, he's never dated anyone else in his life, nor had romantic or sexual encounters/experiences with others in his 16 years of marriage right up to canon (year 514). I feel it’s safe to say that it’s implied that during all these years starting from when they were married, Chilchuck's wife was a housewife whose main job was taking care of the kids and the house.
Marcille's take on what happened is unreliable, as Kui even takes the time to directly say so in the Adventurer's Bible, so I don't want to use it as a baseline even if it offers some insight on what could have happened (her feeling out of place, leaving to test his love, etc etc).

What Chilchuck says seems to be accurate though since it pertains to his perspective of the events! Unlike how Marcille's theory flows, Chilchuck was aware that something was off before she left since she "suddenly fell into a bad mood".

Piecing everything together, my theory: Chilchuck and his wife were childhood friends and have always always sort of danced around of each other, the classic movie love story with childhood sweethearts, until they ultimately confessed and got together. While dating, Chilchuck's wife becomes pregnant and they're both unequiped to deal with the situation but decide to marry, either a bit forced in order to cover it up or hopeful to make the best of it. They make it work as they can and Chilchuck works to provide for the family while she takes care of the home and the kids, which means that even though he's not a deadbeat father (he cares, he was at least a bit involved in their lives and raising them since for example he knows how to braid hair after all) he ends up being rather absent from home. It only gets worse over the years, especially when Chilchuck starts working further and further away from home and coming home less often, and since Puckpatti left home Chilchuck's wife is alone at home most of the time, never knowing when Chilchuck would be coming and if to prepare the table for two instead of one, or even if he'd be coming back at all since his work is dangerous. The humdrum and lifestyle would get to her, they've grown into different people in these 10 years of marriage and she doesn't feel the spark or feels valued & seen anymore, so she leaves. He feels confused and betrayed which turns into anger so he doesn’t try to reach out and mend things, and with the way he says they’re estranged and he moves away I think he’s avoiding his family somewhat.
Possible strains on the marriage
Tfw all your daughters are independent and your husband is gone to work almost all the time and he barely even tells you that he loves you, is there even a reason to stay together anymore? Every day it’s just you and an empty house and chores to do, wondering if you have to cook for one or for two today.
Alright it’s analysis and theorizing time! Although there are more facts down in this post if you care about Chilchuck's wife's appearajce, Chilchuck's parents & siblings or the kids, the essential facts so to speak were all in the first part.
We don't see Chilchuck showing any discontent with his wife through the manga so I'm assuming that he was content in his marriage, happy with his wife, and with how he stayed faithful to her even in the 4 years after she left (and never stopped calling her his wife. Which also shows a weird stubborn attitude since he wasn’t planning on reaching out to her and mend things but I’ll put aside the possible entitlement/coping mechanism for another time) I think he truly loved her and still does. Since she left him and not the reverse, I'm putting a lot of emphasis on his wife's side of things. Especially since we do see how Chilchuck is at work quite a bit but never see how he is at home. I’ll be sounding harsh towards Chil on this but he’s pretty much the only party we can criticize since we don’t know her, I still side with Chil on the leaving issue though, he’s justifiably pissed if she left without a word what the hell even.
Alcoholism and health
Chilchuck’s favorite food as listed in the Adventurer’s Bible is beer, and it’s shown that he’s prone to drinking until drunk whenever he gets the opportunity to. A cheerful drunk is still a drunk. (Extra reading: if interested here's a oneshot FMA fanfic by a friend that goes in depth about this very topic that really illustrates what sort of family dynamic that can bring about. It’s not dunmeshi but it’s a good read.) Chilchuck is also canonically underweight, starving himself for a strict weight management diet (Extra reading: you can look at a short compilation post about that here). Did you know under eating makes one irritable? And this is on top of Chilchuck sometimes/regularly coming back home with "horrible injuries", since Marcille guesses it and he acts like she’s dead right on everything that far.
It’s rough seeing someone you love mistreat themselves, not being able to shake them out of that and having to stay to see them wasting away. It’s rough seeing them put their work above their own health. Putting their work even above their family. Putting alcohol over family time. It's not that simple, but there's always that element when asking someone you love to tone it down with things like alcohol or such, that if they refuse, then it feels like they value that thing more than they value your feelings or opinions. That they love alcohol more than they love you.
You know how there’s often this thing of "Well I’m providing everything for this family, so whatever else that I do you don’t get to complain." I do think that it’s something they’d have argued over a little bit, not that he’d say it that way, but the essence of it. "Chilchuck, you’re drinking a lot of alcohol often, I’m worried maybe you should ease up on it." "This is what I want to do in my free time, give me a break.", "Dear, your mood gets worse when you’re hungry, I really think you should stop dieting-" "Would you rather I die in a trap because I was too heavy?", "Honey I don’t like when you work so far away from home for so long" "Well what else can I do, do you have any better idea?". That sort of thing. Even if not being passive agressive or snappy, or even spoken upon, these situations can cause tension, or a feeling of powerlessness or imbalance in the relationship. Although I personally feel like they were both rather passive in their relationship (thus having little arguments), which itself can be a problem since yes they let each other live but they grew more distant and less communicative as a result, more on that later. Content and tolerating, rather than happy and fulfilled.
Workaholism and long distance
Spending a lot (or even a majority?) of time away from home for years and years obviously can strain relationships in many ways. Besides becoming more distant, both with his wife and his daughters, there's just that side that maybe you grow apart or you end up not knowing them all that well. Like the fictional dialogue excerpts I wrote just above, the way Chilchuck puts work above most things can by itself be the source of a lot of unhealthy habits and strains that could not only hurt himself but his relationships too. Devoted doesn’t mean attentive, even if Chilchuck 100% devotes himself to only her romantically and works in the goal to support her that doesn’t transfer into being there for her, even when he physically is.
An absent father isn't necessarily a deadbeat father, but an absent father is absent. And alright, we don’t know what his schedule was like exactly, but he was busy and traveled around, I think it’s fair to assume that if we were to make comparisons it’d be like parents irl who are often on work trips. We don't know what Chilchuck's wife's social circle is like, but regardless of how big or small or supportive it is it would be easy to get lonely I think. Besides raising the kids undoubtedly falling more onto her shoulders as well. Managing a household can be very hard and tiring even when not alone, I can imagine she felt like she missed the support of Chilchuck either as help or comfort oftentimes. We know very little about her, but I don't get the impression that she'd build up resentment over it except maybe her ‘falling into a bad mood’, but exhaustion? Absolutely.
It’s also implied imo, even beyond Chil not often being at home, that they rarely go out together. And that could very well be part of why she was mad after the outing. In Marcille’s theory she says that her wife felt out of place amongst all the cool adventurer coworkers, and if it’s a rare time that they go out together and it was supposed to be about her meeting his coworkers… I feel like what could have happened was that she felt out of place yes, and even moreso if she ended up not participating in conversations much because of it and no one really seemed to care, and the evening was all Chilchuck and his coworkers chatting it up as always and she was an outsider, if she sort of just faded into the background, if it felt like nothing would have changed wether she was there or not... If she felt like her presence didn’t matter on this special outing that rarely happened, it could have been the straw that broke the camel’s back for her to want to leave, definitely. He finally comes back after a long work travel and they finally go out and this is what their quality time is like? The outing that was supposed to be about her & them both ended up being all about him, and once more she was supposed to just orbit around him and his life without complaint or her own selfish wants like a devoted wife. With how Chil said that she got mad "all of a sudden" on the way home and he didn’t know why, plus that he was probably drunk (which may very well have made the whole thing worse), I feel like it supports that he didn’t pay her much attention during the evening, not that I’m assigning him ill intent at all, I’m sure that for him, it was a casual and fun night out and he didn’t think it'd been unpleasant or alienating for her.
That night
And all of this speculation in order to try and figure… What happened? Why did she leave? I've already gone into it a fair bit, but this is where I discuss it fully in depth.
We can’t rely on Marcille’s theory. Neither in the why she felt so out of place enough to want to leave, nor if her intention when leaving was to "test" him. I definitely agree that the reason why she left is layered and that the night/outing was the straw that broke the camel’s back more than the cause perse, but besides that it’s hard to say how much of it was impulsive and how much was because nothing else had worked to fix their relationship, or how long she'd been thinking of maybe leaving him.
Personally my favorite interpretation isn't that she found herself to be boring surrounded with Chilchuck's adventurer coworkers, or her reason for leaving is super centered around insecurity and if Chilchuck even loves her anymore, but that she sees how rich and eventful Chilchuck's life is and at the same time realizes how stagnant her own life has been. Chilchuck has adventurers for coworkers and they go out to bars and spend evenings together chatting it up, while she always does the same house chores every day and waits, and wonders, uncertain about when her huband would come back, and waits some more. She has a sort of passive role in her own life that gets pulled in one way or another by the people around her at their whims and needs, which is also a recurring theme in the manga: having a passive role in your own life, or a role that's devoted to others. Like with Falin who's always following her parents' directives or following Laios around, being the party's healer and eventually sacrificing herself for Laios and Marcille (she also doesn't seem to think much of marriage, as seen with Shuro proposing to her and her not having answered yet, which fits with how she was supposed to have an arranged marriage in her hometown too; a loveless marriage isn't something alarming to her). Izutsumi too, whose whole arc is about her gaining freedom and figuring out how to use this empowerment for herself and what she wants.
So she'd sit there, not knowing anyone except Chilchuck and not being able to follow their conversations about dungeons, and think about how this is a world she's totally apart from. How she knows so little of the world compared to him. She'd realize that while she's always waiting for Chilchuck to come home, dedicated to him and their family, Chilchuck's world doesn't stop and end at where and when he sees her, that while she's waiting he's living and experiencing things and being self-fulfilled. She's so passive and devoted and her tasks seem almost senseless now that the house is empty except for her, and in that time he's formed half-foot unions and she understands so little of what his life has become outside of her sight. This isn't a diss on Chilchuck or his attitude, I just think that it'd make her ponder about happiness and lifestyles, what's worth it and if she's content with her life. I think she'd find that her and Chilchuck aren't on the same page anymore, and probably they don't communicate much or even that they don't know how to communicate with each other anymore.
Other factors
They really do seem to be on different pages and not know how to communicate with each other well, since for example Chilchuck thinks that on the way back home she "suddenly" fell into a bad mood and seemingly left it alone, or otherwise they didn't talk until he knew what was wrong. Or like how she left and Chilchuck never reached out to her to talk or mend things, just like she never reached out either. According to Marcille it could be that she wanted to "test his love" and see if he'd even care if she was gone, but Chilchuck just got angry that she left like that and never reached out to her, so if that's true they definitely have incompatible expectations or ways to deal with things like that. Maybe she thought of leaving as something he should react to by trying to win her back, but Chilchuck did nothing and let her do her thing, and tbh if that were me I'd also have waited on her to reach out because I figure out that if someone leaves me they want space from me idk. He seems to be rather passive when it comes to interpersonal relationships and how they can mess up, made an analysis post here that talks about it, so the way he reacted by not reacting doesn't feel surprising, maybe she didn't know/remember that part of him, or wanted to shake him out of that tendency. He has no clue why she left, and there are just so many misunderstandings here that it's impossible to know what happened and how she felt and what she wanted for the future.
Also, we’re shown that younger Chilchuck, when he started dungeon crawling, is much more "innocent" and optimistic, less closed off on himself and bitter, and maybe he hasn't even developed his famous "sarcastic retorts" and "abusive remarks" yet as is plastered on all his character introductions and stats. Chilchuck has definitely changed a lot over the years, and some would argue not for the better. Staying with someone for so long has implications that they'll change and be different of course, but signing up for marriage with someone can still leave you questioning that choice decades down the line when they're so different

We get to see his freckles fade in sync with his corruption arc /j
Tfw when you can’t recognize the man you fell in love with.
The hair question
Edit 1/13/2024 leak!!!! Things aren’t officially confirmed but this is a safe bet. You can still read this section to see my reasoning to thinking she had black hair prior to this tho haha

It's not all that important rationally, but the community's been split on the topic: is Chilchuck's wife blonde or not?
Kui highlights Chilchuck being attracted to blondes a grand total of three times, and many assume that his wife is blonde due to this. However, the only vision we see of Chilchuck's wife is Marcille imagining herself as a halfling, so it's up for debate! Flertom has black hair, and that's mostly been the key clue that has people arguing.

I'm not an expert in genetics but black hair is a dominant gene, but it also doesn't mean a black haired parent can't have a brown haired kid, or that two brown haired parents can't have a kid with black hair. As long as one of the parents have it in their genetic code from somewhere in their family tree, it's possible, if not maybe unlikely.
People have been taking Flertom having black hair as evidence that Chilchuck's wife has black hair, but it could be Chilchuck that has the gene and could pass it on. Although...

That seems unlikely. We don't know what Chilchuck's elder brother's hair color was, and his elder sister does have a darker brown hair color, but in the case their parents had black hair or the gene for it, it seems highly unlikely if not impossible for the dominant black hair gene to miss this many amount of time in the gene russian roulette game.
And so I shall now call a witness to the stand, and you reader shall be the judge… Dandan.

You know, this guy? He makes appearances throughout the whole manga, but only has one spoken line in an easy to brush over flashback iirc. He's most often seen hanging out around Chilchuck and other half-foots, but it's unsure how far back he and Chilchuck go.
Now. Remember how Chilchuck and his wife are childhood friends? What if, and hear me out, what if Dandan is related to her. A cousin, or a sibling. Or maybe he's Chilchuck's cousin, even, if we go the reverse route.
The chapter cover
Look at the chapter cover below! We see each member of the main party at a table that's meaningful to them and their history, mostly showing themes of family, community and routine. Laios and Falin sharing a meal by themselves, Marcille at a meal in the cafeteria at the magic academy, Senshi by himself cooking in the dungeon, Izutsumi with Inutade at the Nakamoto household, and... Chilchuck, surrounded by much more mysterious and unknown characters and surroundings.
The only face we see besides the infant is a young one on the left which strikes me as looking a ton like Chilchuck! I doubt it's Meijack or Puckpatti, or someone else, especially since Chilchuck left his hometown pretty early which must make family gatherings harder (and routine is implied with the others’ panels). If it were Meijack I think Kui would have drawn it to more closely match her too, and have her usual freckles. I also don't think it's just Chilchuck and his own family, since if that's Chilchuck the only sibling with black hair he could have is his elder brother and the infant in the middle is clearly, well an infant.
My thoughts are that the table is shared with family friends, or at least members of the community. The elderly person implies that either there's extended family or it’s a gathering, especially if Chilchuck's grandparents don't live with them. Community is implied to be very important with half-foots imo, and if Chilchuck is from a small hometown like he says that would surprise me even less. Childhood friends are often brought together as friends because of circumstances, such as proximity or their families being friends! Doesn't that kid almost off-panel on the right, with a Flertom-like hairstyle and black hair, look to be the same age as the Chilchuck on the left? 👀
Also… Notice the dragon plush she’s holding?

Passed down from mom to daughter? The "most likely belonged to his daughters" is interesting too
If he is related, Dandan could be the infant. I suppose he doesn't end up mattering all that much in the end if you theorize that the Flertom-like kid is his wife on its own though haha. But wether or not you think that this is convincing enough, it's all we have on the topic for now.
Ah yes! Lastly, I've seen the sentiment around that his wife should be blonde, that Chilchuck's taste for blondes, if not the thing that brought them together, should be an acquired taste from loving his wife. That if that's not the case, then Chilchuck's type being blondes is either out of place or insuting or unromantic, etc etc. I can't help but disagree! I think, especially with how Chilchuck and his wife are domestic and all about knowing each from a young age, familiarity etc etc, that it would be so sweet if she wasn't his type! Loving someone so deeply, even if they aren't an idealized type... Which is a common theme/story & character beat in Dungeon Meshi.
Family dynamic theories

Meijack is the most capable, takes after her father the most, seems to have her own business as a locksmith but has a stable steady life. Flertom is the most social, she works at a tavern which seems stable and is ambitious with marriage plans, she has a caring side to her since she sent her dad a handmade gift. Puckpatti is the most upbeat, though she has the most unstable lifestyle, seemingly doing odd jobs.
His daughters do seem well adjusted, which encourages me in that their family seems amicable on the whole and (at the very least) decently functional. We don’t hear what they think of Chilchuck but presumably none of them are on bad terms with him or each other. Flertom does say that "half-foot men are stingy" which, gee, I wonder what half-foot man would have made taught her that- though it does also seem to be a racial stereotype in general, with how for example Namari also says to "steer clear from stores with half-foot clerks".
Flertom seems to be the only one who reached out after their mother left (the only one who's mentioned to have done so at least), and it's because she was the one who took in her mother. It’s not implied that they exchange letters regularly too iirc, it possibly was the only letter they've exchanged since then. I wonder if the daughters even know the full story, if their mother told them all about it or very little. Maybe some are pretty out of the loop, or more distant.
It strikes me that they don't seem to be very close. We're not shown anything that leads us to believe they don't like their father, but I think they're so used to him being absent for work that such distance is normal for them and they don't really long for a deeper relationship or to see him often. They were already out of the house and it seems like they didn't see each other much at that time either so for them it would be just a bit less than the regular amount of Dad time. It's been 4 years Chilchuck what are you doing... But yeah! From what we see they seem mostly unaffected, almost indifferent, not that we can truly tell. I imagine Flertom is the one most attached to Chilchuck with how she sent him a handmade cowl, and I think he rubbed off the most on Meijack teachings wise (besides her attitude, she’s also the one who still wears braids, and we see that Chilchuck braids hair). It makes sense, since they're oldest, and on the contrary I think Puckpatti is the one that knows her father the least. It'd fit the timeline with him working away more while she grew up imo.
Wouldn't it be interesting then that she's the one that Chilchuck says is carefree, in the official translation "doesn't treat life real seriously"? That she's the most optimistic, the most go-with-the-flow, out of the bunch? To me that sounds like a result from her being the youngest and Chil being the most often at work, thus her getting raised by her mother without as much involvement from Chil. Far be it from me to say Chilchuck would raise his daughters to be unhappy btw, not at all, we just all know what down-to-earth values he wants others to have so he doesn't have to worry about them.

Although… Puckpatti spotted?? Seems like he wants to stop her from buying something? His heart meter for her is full <3 (Note: I’ve seen it be argued that this could be his wife. I disagree, since the "stop them" and way that the long haired one is off-center compared to everyone else gives the sense that it’s many of his daughters, and the fact that it’s styled after a dating sim doesn’t mean it’s romantic love as we see with the others. Otherwise imagine being her wife and he tells you not to buy stuff when you go shopping together rip)

Headcanons time:
When naming the daughters, together they choose a pool of names they’d like but only one has the final say, and they alternate between who that is. Chilchuck sticks around more near the end of her pregnancies, and he hasn’t missed any of their births. I don’t have any opinions on who named who right now, but there could be some interesting stuff to theorize with Puckpatti, like them taking extra care picking the name together because they settled on her being their last daughter for fluff, or it was supposed to be Chilchuck but he was so busy that he ended up not picking in time and she was the one to name her for angst.
Actually scratch that I have a new theory : What if it’s actually customary for each parent to pick one half of their half-foot kid’s name? So then each would have chosen half of each girl’s name… And this could be why Chil calls Puckpatti Patti instead of Puck which is her first name, because he’s stubborn since Patti was his pick lmaoooo. Pattipuck doesn’t have the same ring to it alas, his wife was so right
Chilchuck liked to do activities with the girls when they were young. He's not opposed to relaxing at home with them perse, but he likes to do workshops with stuff like arts & crafts to develop their agility some. I don't think they'd do much outings to places like restaurants or theatres for money reason, and I don't think Chilchuck is much of an outdoors type, but he could accompany them to nice fields to play in, or in winter places to play in snow and sled, and organize some activities at home. He's not home very often so when he is he likes to take it easy as a break from work and values the time he gets with his family.
Chilchuck would sometimes work from home as a locksmith, say, unlocking a chest for a customer. In those times, Meijack would take interest and watch him work, even handing him the tools he needs as he goes. In this way, Chilchuck taught her a lot about the work of a locksmith over time. He's also the one that would oil door hinges or do renovation around the house- when he's available.
Like the plushies under his table in his home that we see in illustrations, Chilchuck has a lot of mementos from his daughter (and his wife) he keeps around. Sometimes they take a bothersome amount of place, but throwing anything out isn't something he's seriously willing to consider. Flertom's the most artistic and she used to help with sewing clothes back together, so he has a cheap ceramic mug painted by her when she was really young and small embroideries around.
Imo Meijack would be the most distant in the present. Flertom makes efforts for her parents and is pretty involved, and Puckpatti's distance is more out of being a bit airheaded and being busy + not having a great grasp on time or what's a normal amount of family contact, but Meijack's the one who knowingly and intentionally keeps some distance. I think she’d be the least optimistic about their family situation, and although she’d be hopeful when Chilchuck reached out to them again she’d be a but hesitant. I think Meijack would hold some grudges, being the one most critical of their parenting, both grateful to her dad for working so hard for them and saddened that he wasn't in their life more. Since Flertom was born in the same year I think it’s possible that Meijack was pushed aside a bit to take care of the younger baby more, out of necessity rather than lack of love. Her mom probably needed a lot of help around the house too. Flertom wasn’t blind either, and she cared about & noticed her mom’s emotional states, but she’s on the whole more hopeful and forgiving.
This is my most far fetched one but it is a hc after all, but I think it'd be interesting if one of them had food hoarding tendencies/stress. I like to think it's Flertom, because she's the middle child and would get told that her older sister and younger sister are "growing and need the food" so she wouldn't be allowed to take as much refill or such, add that to them not having much money to frivolously spend on food and that makes a kid who's worried about not eating to her hunger and tends to be possessive over food (I'm projecting). Differential treatment is inevitable in families with many siblings, and it can manifest in small or big ways, maybe they realize it maybe they don't. Working in a tavern has helped eased that tendency of her though, and while she does diet a bit she always leaves a meal feeling satisfied.
When they were younger, Flertom was a real firecracker, loud and spirited with some troublemaking tendencies! She was the daughter that got in trouble & got scolded the most. You can still see slivers of it now that she’s an adult, but she’s much more poised and diligent. She has much more acquaintances than friends, but she has a couple of best friends and usually gets along well with most people. Puckpatti was always a bit head in the cloud, very kind if not gullible, and tended to make friends somewhat easily but didn’t keep them for long, preferring to keep meeting new people and not keeping in touch well. She isn’t super talkative but tends to ramble when she does. Meijack is very introverted, she has more trouble making friends, she has a good handful though they don’t meet up often, her friendships tend to last and she’s close to them. She’s grown more confident over the years, less repressed and more quiet. Meijack as the big sister tended to be the listener for her younger sisters who had more social mishaps. Flertom has dated once before and it only cemented to her that she was going to have very high standards from then on.
Meijack wears thigh-high boots because she hates when sand, dirt or snow gets in her shoes. She wears practical clothing but avoids anything frilly or flashy. Puckpatti also dresses practically, but she does enjoy pretty clothes, it’s more out of necessity and due to not having enough money to indulge. Flertom has a social stable job and she loves prettying herself up (especially as she’s in search of a husband) so she’s the one who gets the most and nicest fashionable clothes and accessories.
Chilchuck is hinted to have had a rather dysfunctional family himself (alcoholic father, distant siblings, etc). So he doesn’t really have the best model on how to raise someone and such. I imagine it was a sort of neglectful home situation, where the kids are encouraged to be independent. If they didn’t have to work or help around much, then free range parenting sort of thing. We do see how the family has full and warm feasts, where someone cleans his mouth with a rag, so it’s not like he didn’t have a caring circle or a tragic childhood though! I don’t remember if it’s explicitely stated, but he’s heavily implied to having grown up poor, as most half-foots, and I just think it's the hardened hardworking family type of childhood where just like he does with others they instill somewhat harsh life lessons in him, which in turn encourages him to indulge in the simple pleasures of life like alcohol and sex, or at least women’s beauty and crass jokes. We do see he seems more optimistic when he's younger in flashbacks, so a bunch of his harsh view on the world is still likely learned and earned rather than taught. I still think he inherited many flawed views from how his father acted, like his attitude about excessive drinking not being a big deal and worth it. That work hard play hard, enjoy life die young mentality he has, shown mostly in the "alcohol" section of his Adventurer's Bible profile, could very well be partly a result of the general poverty half-foot communities are that he grew in as well, like how he doesn't hope for things to be as best as they could be and contends with good enough. As far as I remember, his mother is never mentioned, but I doubt it implies she was out of the picture. She was probably a regular sort of mother that took care of the home as well and was still around when his father died. It looks like there’s a good age gap between one sibling to the next, that could be interesting to dig into too.

A part of Chilchuck’s character is that he takes responsibility for safety and actions of people around him and is very often looking out for them to not do faux-pas wether socially or literally with stepping onto traps. The way he says "I’ve got three people to think of here" makes me think that’s also how he’d think about having to provide for his family, and that could be a source of stress and insecurity for him. Caring for others is a pretty integral part of his character and we see time and time again that his family is very important to him, in any case.
Post-canon

This pic has so much to say!! It’s the ‘thank you for reading’ double page spread where they’re going to a big dining table at the castle with Laios and the main gang. First family gathering in 4 years perhaps?! I’ll say, not feeling very hopeful that his wife isn’t in this, not even implied to be just off-panel with a hand or anything… I imagine before this he still talked to them at least a bit and figured their family situation out, but I think this is still in the early stages of reconnecting. Haha imagine being one of them and receiving a letter saying "Hi it’s been a while… I want to introduce you to my ex-coworker the king and his friends, you up for that?" I don’t want to reconsider all my hcs for this yet, but this pic does seemingly show an eagerness from all the daughters to reunite and reconnect! Meijack’s could be seen as more hesitant, but I think it’s just awkwardness from meeting so many new people, of high status no less. Chilchuck does seem awkward and somewhat self-conscious though, and while that could be just from say Marcille and the others meeting his daughters and him not knowing how to act, I think that also shows that Chilchuck is unsure how to act around his daughters too. Can’t blame him, I’d be stressed too. Anyways, the daughters are all dressed up! Puckpatti even brought flowers! And I doubt it’s just for Senshi, or just to be in with the king. Oh also also, Puckpatti chides Meijack here, seemingly on manners?, so that implies new/different family dynamics there~
We know with the succubus chapter that he does plan on reaching out to his wife again and shooting his shot, and when Marcille was dungeon lord he told her she could help think of a plan to make up with her together at which point Marcille showered him in gifts and flowers intended for her and his daughters. So we do know that whatever happens and however it happens, Chilchuck definitely will at least reach out to her to win her back or worse case scenario get closure on the situation.

-
These are his plans before it’s revealed that the Island is… Well, not an island but the golden kingdom, so the news that Laios is king and that might have changed them a bit, but I think he’s still gonna stick around to help with the half-foot guild for a while.
My personal ideal post-canon Chilchuck life is that after around a year or two of helping around in the golden kingdom, especially regarding half-foot working rights, he gets his shop and finally settles down. He prioritized the whole half-foot guild because there are changes to attend to and people to help, but also used that to procrastinate a bit on getting in touch with his wife again. He does send a letter though, and when she replies they then meet face to face. They explain how it was like on their end, their grievances and their feelings, and they do reconcile. But… It’s been 4 years and his wife has frankly moved on. She’d rather they stay as friends, and Chilchuck has mixed feelings on it but is ultimately fine with it. He was halfway resigned to not reconciling with his wife in canon after all. But no longer do they have cut contact! They get together with the girls for the holidays and the ambiance is nice! He starts exchanging letters more regularly. He also gets a second family of clingy asses with Izutsumi and the main gang and so though he lives alone in his shop he’s well surrounded and well loved, and his daughters visit to check up on him every so often.
I really like the… Maturity of Chilchuck’s plotline, if that makes sense? To me the ending that fits the most is him and his wife reconciling, but not getting back together. I like that they could still be adults about it and at least amicable even after divorce, and that that wouldn’t be treated as a tragic ending. In the end, they were childhood friends and teenage parents, they rushed things a bit and I genuinely think they’re just not that compatible. If not then, at least having it be a gradual process, getting back together and making it work until they’re truly comforatble with each other. Destroy the relationship to better build it again stronger!
Although, his arc in the manga is to allow himself to form connections and be optimistic, which would fit well with him and his wife getting back together. I def think Chil would get healthier post-canon which could fix the issues they had in their relationship though. Like for one he starts eating more, which improves mood & irritability & health, and also after the whole half-foot guild he plans to settle down with a shop so it wouldn’t be long distance or unstable anymore which would definitely give his wife some peace of mind. If they still do some long distance at first while he gets the half-foot guild stable, it’d be really cute if he sent pressed flowers with his letters to her… That could make a nice fic concept, like over time all the pressed flowers and exchanged letters hehe (oh shit that’s a nice title)
My post-canon timeline is Chilchuck lives a nice life living alone in his house except his friends all visit him and care and even tho he likes living alone it’s also bittersweet and every corner of his life is haunted by mementos of the ones he loves and the moments he had with them. But then it’s also like the shared duty of everyone to pass by his shop when they can and keep the old man company and sometimes that means many people come at the same time like if both Meijack and Marcille came the same day~ Cozy life, no regrets except a lil regrets still. That’s it that’s all I want.
Misc
I didn’t know where to put this, so new category time! Family truly is a central theme of Chilchuck’s character. His reaction to learning more about how life gets made is so awed by the wonder of the world. Life indeed…

The implication of this page is that Chil didn’t know about the science side of how procreation works, though of course he did know about the practical side of it. This is speculation, and we have no clue how widespread the information of how reproduction scientifically works lol, but I think it’s fair to think that half-foots’ education especially in smaller communities is handled by the parent, school of life style, or if there are schools then the education is very general and it probably ends early. I think this is supported by how for example half-foots’ jobs we’ve seen are based on experience rather than knowledge, like being a locksmith. Of course any job has its fair share of specialized knowledge to learn, but jobs you learn on the fly pretty well. This sort of dynamic contrasts a lot against elves many tallmen communities, like with the magic academy, where education and knowledge are valued almost above experience, this is what the mandrake chapter was all about after all. Poorer communities tend to have poorer education systems as well irl, it’s a whole issue.
So I already said my piece about his wife not being blonde and it being nice and romantic because literally you don’t need someone to be a beauty ideal to love them and that’s fine and normal and even more romantic imo. But!! I do have an headcanon, now that his wife’s appearance is all but explicitly confirmed. While their hair is blonde, yes their hair is wavy and the ‘main’ one has deep-set eyes, not unlike his wife! Now this is a ‘which came first the egg or the chicken’ question, but while most people seem to be assuming that he got with his wife because she was his type, since they’re childhood friends I feel like it’s his love for his wife that shaped his preferences in that deparment. Like ok he loves golden hair and hers is black, but isn’t it so much more romantic that he has so much love and devotion for his wife and has stared lovingly at it so much over the years, that it’d become his ideal? He loves her eyes <3

Conclusion
Reminder that I’ve got more observations and tidbits compiled in a reblog addition now.
More stuff I should workshop for the masterpost:
Compile more info on Chilchuck's father and his other family. Edit: I compiled all I had pretty neatly here in a speculation post, but there’s no other concrete piece of info other than what I’ve covered here sadly. Same with stuff like Chilchuck’s past work schedule and exchanged letters, there seems to be no other bits of evidence, except…
On the chapter cover and extra where he’s in his basement room we can see one letter and a few papers across his desk. Maybe family letters? Wether his daughters or relatives. Seems too few to me, could just as well be job descriptions, but truly who knows, it’s hopeful.
Excellent analysis on half-foot culture here by a friend that I should read and incorporate the good info into my own meta~
And thus I leave you with a lil web weaving I made about Chil & his wife’s relationship~ And this is where I’d put panels of Chilchuck’s wife… IF THERE WERE ANY
Should we even call Chilchuck's wife Mrs. Tims... We don't know dunmeshi marrital traditions though, and half-foot already have somewhat complex naming conventions... I hate that we don't really know if the daughters' last names are Chils or Chilz. Although that seems to be a japanese to english translation issue, since japanese used the suffix zu and not su, likely to imitate the english S sound at the end of a word. Oh yeah the last names change each generation, that’s odd right? But in english it sounds like saying Chil’s, like, [father]’s, so I think this also supports how half-foots communities tend to be tightly knit and live in the present, for them to be like "Ooh so you’re [father]’s little one eh? I know who that is and this is insightful as to who your family is to me!". Iceland’s a place where last names are like this, though I don’t know about pros and cons of it in that context. It’s called a patronymic.
Ah and I have a bittersweet spotify playlist about her and Chil too, here if ya want. That’s it the post is over

TTTE Human AU reference sheets and bios Part 3
Mavis Stephenson
Age: 23
Height: 175 cm
Mavis is a feisty young woman and full of ideas. Eager to show what she is capable of, yet she still lacked experience when she moved to Sodor. She was placed under Toby’s tutoring, who she did not like very much at the start. She actively went against his advice after she was told by Diesel Toby was a stuck up wanna-be know-it-all, insisting on doing everything her own way much to Toby’s frustration. Tired of Mavis' antics he left her with a difficult task all by her own and when she failed and Toby helped her out, she started to take his advice finally seriously. Mavis gladly became Toby’s student but still liked to put her own spin on things.
Over time she became less naive and open to bad impressions. Mavis matured into a responsible, creative and eager hard worker. Her way of approaching things from different perspectives has also proven to be very helpful at many occasions, having fallen into good graces with many. Having zero patience for mischief, she frequently berates the twins Bill and Ben. The two were intimidated by her unbreakably determined attitude at first but quickly started to find her cool, looking up to her as an older sister, calling her “Big Sis Mavis”.
She loves her work but she also wished to see more of the island and expand her horizons, so she accompanied Thomas and Percy on one of their escapades once, resulting in them becoming friends. Mavis is still very stubborn and when she starts something, she wants to finish it no matter what tries to stop her. The same stubbornness resulted in her collapsing once when she tried to finish a job despite a sprained ankle, leading her to be carried to an infirmary by Diesel, who took a liking in Mavis and her being the first person he was genuinely nice to.
Diesel’s affection for her grew more and more obvious to Mavis especially when he tried to keep her away from her usual workplace to spend more time with her. While not approving of his antics, she decided to be patient with him as Mavis is able to see past his devious demeanor. When Diesel finally made efforts to better himself, he tried and fumbled to confess to Mavis. Still getting the message, Mavis kindly rejected him as she likes him platonically and offered him her friendship instead, which he happily accepted.
Mavis overall is one of the island’s most enthusiastic and creative people, who strives to always improve herself and find new methods to solve problems unseen by others, carrying an almost infectious confidence and optimism with her.
Rosie Hill
Age: 16
Height: 164 cm
Rosie was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA and moved to Sodor when she was 14 due to her parents’ work. She is lively, sweet, energetic and quick to act. Most of the time she needs something to do in order to not become nervous from understimulation. Rosie is Thomas’ classmate and she quickly began to idolize him, imitating Thomas, which only irritated him. However, they managed to become friends, Rosie stopped imitating him and she is often invited to hang out with Thomas and Percy. Her parents disapprove of her friendship with Thomas but she happily ignores that despite usually being a very obedient daughter.
She was raised very American and still has problems adjusting to Sodor’s culture but she is eager to learn regardless. Even though she is very extroverted, she still struggles with some social cues, very often misunderstanding what others mean and getting into trouble despite only having good intentions. Rosie is easily intimidated by very tall people and gets silent when being yelled at thanks to her very strict parents. She looks up to women like Mavis, Emily and Daisy and after a helpful talk with Mavis managed to grow courage and stand up for herself when her father threatened to make her transfer to a boarding school on the Mainland if she won’t stop being friends with Thomas.
Rosie has shown to be clever, dependable, a good student, free-spirited, humorful and reveals to be quite tomboyish when she’s not with her parents. She likes to have moped races with Thomas or bike races with Percy and she can give great motivational speeches and directly opposes any mistreatment towards others or herself.
On Valentine's Day Diesel, Bill and Ben made fun of how close Rosie and Thomas were, teasing them to be a couple. Irritating Thomas and embarrassing Rosie, led to him avoiding her for most of the day and Rosie felt very hurt. After some inner turmoil on both sides, they decided to set things straight, revealing they both care a lot for each other as friends. Rosie also said she always wanted a sibling and she is delighted that Thomas is like a dear brother to her.
Bertie Leyland
Age: 31
Height: 181 cm
A joyful and whimsical local bus driver. Bertie always welcomes his passengers with a warm and wide smile and a jolly honk-honk from his buse’s horn and says goodbye with a bright “toodle-peep”, making him very beloved by many people. He has a strong attachment to his red single-deck bus and cleans it everyday after his shift. Loving his work and putting a lot of passion into it, Bertie wants to make sure his passengers always have a pleasant and punctual ride. Bertie is genuinely very nice and is always open for a little chat but he also likes to get cheeky with others from time to time and has a boastful side as well.
Nothing ever seems to break his joyful attitude, only getting upset when he runs late, gets stuck or when something might cause or really does cause damage to his bus. He has a rough relationship with his co-worker Bulgy, who is annoyed by Bertie’s cheerfulness and being kept in line by him.
Bertie is a trusty ally of the kids of Thomas’ school as he daily drives them to school and back home, always stopping when a kid barely misses the bus to let them hop on. His helpful and whimsical nature has brought him into many crazy scenarios with Thomas, who he often calls his “little blue friend”.
With Bertie’s inexhaustible cheerfulness it is hard to believe he used to be very down on his luck in the past. Permanently injuring his shoulder in an accident, ruining his potential career as a rugby player, failing university, inheriting his late father’s debts, getting into many other unpleasant situations and even getting abandoned by everyone around him and ending up homeless for a while. It was when he finally got his job as a bus driver on Sodor when he finally found peace and could be the ray of sunshine he naturally is.
Daisy Cammell
Age: 40
Height: 172 cm
Daisy is a lady, who describes herself as a “highly sprung and up to date beauty”. She was
troublesome when she moved from France to Sodor and just started working there. Being rather lazy, refusing to do extra work or manipulating others into doing her work for her. She was an irrational, self-obsessed diva, who constantly belittered others and talked them down.
However, her vanity and stubbornness got her in trouble on multiple occasions with people like Toby, Annie and Clarabel. Her misbehavior brought her in so many uncomfortable situations that she decided to better herself for her sake and others’.
Despite changing for the better, she still is highly authoritative, snarky, snobbish and easily irritated but that is now paired with using her strictness to bring order instead, trustworthiness, engagement, benevolence and a good sense of humor.
She lets Ryan live in the apartment complex she runs and looks after him, developing motherly feelings for the young Gresley. Daisy also became friends with Harvey despite Diesel trying to cause discord between them and also made up with Annie and Clarabel.
When Diesel accidentally hospitalized Daisy after playing a prank on her, the guilt became too much for him and he sneaked into her hospital room to apologize to her while she pretended to be asleep and learned that he secretly likes her. Daisy did forgive him in the end but decided to not let him off the hook that easily and invited him to have a serious talk where she taught him that if he really wants to make friends, he seriously had to change his ways just like she did in the past. Diesel took her words to heart, genuinely making an effort to change, and to support the young man, she offered him a spot at her apartment complex and invited him to talks whenever he needed some.
Daisy found a great liking to Emily as she found her strong personality very attractive and the two began to meet up more and more until the two women decided to start a relationship.
Paxton Doncaster
Age: 21
Height: 174 cm
Paxton is a gentle, young man, who recently just finished secondary school alongside his best friends Sidney Horwich and Norman Bulleid. The trio applied to jobs on Sodor and were all taken, all three of them moved into Daisy’s apartment complex and started into their work life with much enthusiasm. He struggled at school due to his short attention span but he managed to push through and graduate eventually even if it was close.
Paxton has a very loving and supportive family and his parents always looked out for him. They were worried about their son moving away because despite being very proud he turned out to be such a good-hearted person, they also know he’s very gullible, naive and easily taken advantage of. He used to be tricked by his peers constantly and he never fought back because he did not notice he was tricked or was too scared to do so. He also takes sarcasm literally, confusing others and himself. Paxton is more of a follower than a leader and finds making big decisions very stressful, letting Norman usually call the shots in their group activities. Surprisingly, Paxton is very self-aware, knowing about all his flaws and he also knows, he can’t really change it as this is just how he is.
Wanting to become friends with Diesel because he thought he seemed lonely, he fell right into Devious Diesel’s traps, being taken advantage of on multiple occasions. Like when he unintentionally helped Diesel to accuse Luke murdering the to that time missing Victor but his conscience and good will helped him to make everything right again because Paxton is always willing to do the right thing and is even able to gain unexpected mental strength when he has to help someone.
He never gave up on Diesel and was very happy and proud when the latter actually wanted to change.
There are times where he can show some cunningness and has wisened-up from experience, which are mostly displayed when he helps others when they have to teach someone a lesson. Despite believing himself to not be very smart, he loves solving mysteries, no matter how tricky and his eyes lighten up whenever he finds a clue.
When Paxton, Sidney and others were trapped in a cave because of a landslide, he stepped up and gained the courage to speak up and keep everyone calm until help would arrive, taking on the role of a leader he never thought to be capable of. Paxton supported Sidney, who was having a panic attack when he got injured while trapped in the cave, giving first aid and calming him down. After three hours they were finally freed and Paxton had received some new found respect from many and he and Sidney have grown closer severely thanks to the incident.
Nia Kimani
Age: 19
Height: 176 cm
A young, enthusiastic woman from Kenya in East Africa. Nia was pendling from job to job, still trying to find her true calling, having gained a lot of experience already despite her young age. When she was traveling to her next job interview, she saw a boy in blue trying to help someone push a broken down rally car up a hill and offered her help as her motto is “two heads are better than one”. After they were able to help the driver, they took both of them to the next city. The blue boy introduced himself as Thomas Billington from Sodor in the UK and the rally car’s driver as Ace Canley from Australia. According to Ace, the two young men are traveling around the world to find clues about “Gold Dust” and Thomas said he joined in to find his missing parents and to help a friend called “Lady”.
Nia was nothing but confused at first but found the whole objective rather interesting and because she was an orphan without a family to return to, she thought it was a good opportunity to find her place to stay somewhere out there and joined them. Quickly Nia learned Ace was nothing but bad news and that he and Thomas were not friends but Thomas was only following for his own objectives. She and the young boy became friends over their journey through Africa and Brazil and Nia found out Thomas was being manipulated by Ace into doing all of this and he actually wanted to return home despite having fun traveling and wanting to find answers.
After arriving in San Francisco, California in the USA, Nia forced Ace to let Thomas go home before he could get into any more danger. Unable to find any answer for her own goal, Nia thought she had to return home to Kenya but Thomas suggested joining him to Sodor and she gladly agreed. Thanks to Thomas convincing Sir Topham Hatt to hire Nia as a contract worker for the time being until she could become a full-fledged employee, Nia finally found a place to stay.
Nia, who was very protective of Thomas and became like an older sister to him, quickly fell into good graces with his caretakers Edward, Annie and Clarabel, who were very grateful to her for watching out for him while he was dragged into Ace’s mess. She also formed a friendship with the other newbie Rebecca, who was currently struggling with her assigned mentor. She is the one of those, who stayed back at Sodor when an excursion team was formed to go around the world again to find clues about Gold Dust way more effectively.
She has a positive attitude, is adventurous, always open for new experiences, a good problem solver and has a strong belief in friendship. She is very protective of her younger peers and always looks out for them, particular Thomas, Percy. Rosie and Rebecca. Nia is good-mannered but can become very scary when angered and does not hold back when she seems it appropriate to lash out on troublesome people like Ace. A side of hers she tries is her sensitivity and strong fear of being ignored or abandoned.
Rebecca Bulleid
Age: 18
Height: 168 cm
The daughter of the head of the wealthy Bulleid Group. Rebecca was recruited to work for Sir Topham Hatt, mostly for business relationships but also the Fat Controller needed new personnel to make up for many of his best workers leaving for the Great Excursion. She was placed under Gordon’s tutoring, who was at a low point in his life at the time and despised her and Nia at first because he thought they were there to replace Edward and Henry, who were chosen for the Excursion while he stayed back on Sodor. It was a very difficult road to get there but she managed to grow on Gordon in the end after all and he became her proud and caring mentor.
Rebecca has a big heart and is usually happy-go-lucky and cheerful but also has a very insecure side as she fears to be inferior to her seniors, can get anxious whenever she fails to meet expectations and feels that she might be seen as a liability, something that was started by Gordon when he still hated her and constantly insulted her. She is also on the more clumsy side and acts humble whenever she causes a mishap.
Rebecca is always willing to see the good in others and is quite gullible and oblivious in a similar way to Paxton. She often fails to read the room and causes a lot of confusion like when Diesel tried to be rude to her but her unconventional way of thinking just left him puzzled or when she used to anger Gordon due to being unable to understand his hardships.
Adrean “Diesel 10” Diesel
Age: 51
Height: 199 cm
Heartless leader of a nations-wide feared crime syndicate, Adrean is the tenth in line as the head of the dangerous Diesel family and goes by Diesel 10 or D10 for that reason. D10 rules his organization with an iron fist and does not hesitate to serve cruel punishments towards those who irritate or disappoint him, including his own nephew Darius, who he raised himself after his parents’ passing. He is ruthless, cold, arrogant and unhinged through and through as he tends to break out in loud cackles out of nowhere. His lack of reason and common sense, made him replace his left arm with a hydraulic claw he named “Pinchy” and even speaks to it from time to time, unironically believing it speaks back to him.
He is really strong and someone to be truly feared in combat and only has some back -up from his two henchmen Splatter and Dodge in the background. His sadism makes him toy with his prey until he gets bored or they “break by accident”. Said sadism is also displayed in other forms of abuse Darius had experienced most of his life in order to get “toughened-up” by his uncle, only making him end up to be terrified by D10.
One day his research team learned about Gold Dust and a mysterious entity called “Lady”. Wanting to gain that power for himself, D10 sent Darius to Sodor for intel. After taking too long, D10 decided to take matters into his own hands. All of this culminates into a large confrontation with some inhabitants of the island and the goddess Lady. D10 managed to land a fatal blow on Lady but he himself ended up falling off a cliff, getting hurt severely in the process. He might be out of commission for the time being but the evil mafia boss plans his dreadful return.
Lady
Age: unknown
Height: 166 cm
The goddess of a hidden world of spirits called Shining Time and the guardian of Gold Dust. Not knowing how she ended up where she is now and what her true purpose is with her role, she wandered around the Island of Sodor and has only been spotted a handful of times but her existence still only remained a mythos. One fateful day, she was fatally injured by D10 and fell down an abyss to her demise. But she was found by Thomas, who carried the Golden Whistle with him at the time. In order to survive in any way, she gave up her body and transferred her soul into the Golden Whistle but lost all of her memories as a result.
Now housed in the Golden Whistle, she can only be seen and heard by Thomas and can barely interact with the world around her. She made the conclusion that to regain her lost memories, to help Thomas find his parents and Hiro to move on into the afterlife, she has to uncover the truth behind the Golden Whistle and the Gold Dust, which she can only do with Thomas by her side. Thomas and Lady did not get along at first, mostly through their clashing personalities and because Thomas blames her on many tragedies that happened that were in correlation with Gold Dust. They managed to become friends in the end and Thomas promised Lady to help her regain her lost memories out of kindness and not only in self-interest.
Lady is gentle, kind and smart. She has a good heart, genuinely wants the best for everyone and hates seeing others get hurt. But her amnesia and position as an otherworldly being makes her oblivious and feel disconnected to humans and their customs and really wishes to understand them regardless if it is useful to her cause or not. Her rational mind also makes it difficult for her to comprehend more complex human emotions, getting into many misunderstandings because of it. Despite her initial struggles to understand them, she truly grew to love the people on the island she wandered for so many years and wants to protect them at all cost from evil forces that are after her.

Good morning
This is my coffee-deprived post that’s about to attempt to unravel the bullshit that is the Hope and the twins' timeline
Here’s everything we know, pre-retcon:
• Hope is 15 years old in season 5 of The Originals. She mentions to Roman that Lizzie said she blew up an orphanage with her brain. it’s not specified when that was said, but Hope still holds disdain for the twins, obviously. She calls the Old Mill their mean girl lair (eat. anyway)
• Hope was born on May 2, 2012. She was originally meant to be 17 when Legacies started:
• Keep in mind the start of Legacies was in February. 1x12 is set during spring break week, which is in April. So somewhere around the finale of season 1, which stretches towards May, is Hope's 18th birthday. She would be 18 by the time season 2 starts, then.
• The twins were born on March 15, 2014. They have their sixteenth birthday in season 1...obviously. Whole episode centered on this
• This is where I started getting confused because the wiki timeline says that Season 1 of Legacies is in February 2028, but if that were the case the twins would be 14, because they were born in 2014... So I dug some more and people have deduced that:
It's actually 2029? I actually think this whole thing might have been an error because everything I can find says The Originals Season 5 takes place in 2026... But maybe, since Mardi Gras is featured, that means it ended in 2027 in actuality and people just missed that when writing down dates? Idk though, because the timeline wiki says Klaus died in 2026. To me it makes sense it would've probably been March 2027, since that's when Mardi Gras is and Klaus and Elijah's deaths happened not long after that.
So assuming that Season 5 of The Originals ended in 2027 and not 2026, we know there's a 2 year jump to Legacies. So that would've made Hope 17 when Legacies starts, (because she turned 16 after Mardi Gras in The Originals).
So essentially, Hope was 15 when Klaus died, then she turned 16 not long after, then Legacies is set in 2029 where she's at first 17, then turns 18 at the end of that school year/term that we see that season. Her birthday literally falls around when she jumped into Malivore... sad. anyway
If this is true, though, and Legacies is in 2029, they still fucked up. Because the twins would've turned 15, not 16. They essentially have already retconned the twins to be only 1 year younger than Hope. I guess we're supposed to assume the Saltzmans are now born in March 2013 instead of 2014.
So, with all of this in mind, the event 'three years ago' (Lizzie says this in April in Season 1) when Josie burned Hope's room down during spring break and got their trip cancelled—
With their Season 1 retconned ages, Lizzie and Josie would've been 13 and Hope would've been 14 (going on 15 that following May). We know Hope had a crush on Josie when she was 14, but this is where it gets murky. Because the line is "I had a crush on Josie when we were 14", which implies Julie has now, in season 2, retconned all of the girls to be born in the same year instead of Hope being older. So now, if we go by that retcon, when Josie burnt down Hope's room, they were both 13. So Hope's crush would've been after that.
But if you go by the season 1 retcon then Hope's crush could've been closer to (or even on) the week of the note. We will never know

Later that day, Aegon found Vaella in the garden with their children. The sight always brought a smile to his face, but now the shadow of recent events loomed heavily over her. Vaella was playing with Baelor, Daena, and little Aeron, her face lighting up with genuine joy despite the turmoil around them.
As Aegon approached, Vaella looked up and managed to smile at him. Her love for him never wavered, and Aegon's heart fluttered with the reassurance that she loved him like nobody else ever could. He joined them, scooping up Daena and twirling her around, eliciting giggles from the little girl.
“Look, Daddy’s here!” Vaella said, her voice filled with warmth.
Baelor ran up to Aegon, holding a small wooden sword. “Can we play, Father?”
Aegon chuckled, ruffling Baelor’s hair. “Of course, my little warrior.”
For a while, they played and bonded with their children, the weight of the outside world momentarily forgotten. They laughed and talked, Aegon reveling in the simple joy of being with his family.
As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the garden, Aegon’s expression turned serious. He took Vaella’s hand, his eyes searching hers. “Vaella, I need you to stand beside me. In my rule, as you have stood by me in life since we were born.”
Vaella’s face twisted in pain. “Aegon, I can’t go against my sister. She’s family too.”
Frustration and jealousy flared within Aegon, emotions he had always harbored toward Rhaenyra, who seemed to hold so much of Vaella’s love. “I’m tired of Rhaenyra always coming between us!” he exclaimed, his voice rising.
Vaella looked at him, her eyes filled with a mix of hurt and determination. “You’re acting childish, Aegon. This isn’t about us. It’s about the realm, about doing what’s right.”
Aegon’s frustration boiled over. “Childish? You think I’m being childish because I want you to support me? I’m your husband, Vaella!”
Vaella stood her ground, her voice steady but filled with emotion. “And she is my sister! How can you expect me to betray her?”
They bickered, their voices rising and falling with the intensity of their emotions. The children, sensing the tension, huddled together, their innocent eyes wide with confusion and fear.
Finally, Aegon threw up his hands in exasperation. “Fine! If you can’t support me, then I’ll find someone who can!”
He stormed off, leaving Vaella standing there, her heart heavy with the weight of their argument. Aegon’s mind was clouded with anger and frustration as he made his way to the nearest chamber where he knew he could find something to drink.
As he poured himself a goblet of wine, Aegon’s thoughts churned. He loved Vaella deeply, but the constant conflict with Rhaenyra was tearing at him. The burden of his new role and the fear for his family’s safety gnawed at his resolve.
Back in the garden, Vaella gathered their children close, trying to soothe their fears. Her heart ached with the weight of her divided loyalties, torn between the love for her sister and her duty to her husband.
…
Alicent stormed through the halls of the Red Keep, her face set in a mask of frustration and anger. She had been informed by a servant that King Aegon was making a scene in one of the chambers. When she arrived, she found Aegon standing on a table, sloshing wine from a goblet and shouting incoherently. The room was a mess, with overturned chairs and spilled wine staining the floor. Nobles and servants alike looked on with a mixture of shock and disapproval.
“Aegon, get down from there this instant!” Alicent demanded, her voice sharp and commanding.
Aegon turned to her, his eyes glazed with drunkenness. “Mother! You can’t tell me what to do. I’m the king!”
Ignoring his protests, Alicent grabbed his arm and pulled him down from the table. “You are humiliating yourself and the crown,” she hissed, dragging him out of the room.
Aegon tried to escape her grasp, stumbling as he did. “You can’t do this! I’m the king! You can’t humiliate me like this!”
Alicent’s grip tightened, her patience wearing thin. “You are acting like a child, Aegon. Now, pull yourself together.”
She marched him through the corridors, ignoring his drunken attempts to wriggle free. Finally, they reached Aegon and Vaella’s shared chambers. Alicent pushed the door open and found Vaella inside, her face filled with worry and sadness.
“Vaella,” Alicent said, her voice stern but controlled. “You need to deal with the marital issues you and Aegon are having. This cannot bleed into the court.”
Alicent left Aegon with Vaella, who sighed deeply as she watched her drunken husband stumble towards a chair, missing it entirely and falling to the floor. She hurried to his side, pulling him up and leading him to their bed.
“Aegon, you’ve had too much of that low-quality wine again,” Vaella said gently, her voice tinged with frustration.
Aegon whined, clinging to her. “You always run away to Rhaenyra when she calls you. Don’t leave me for her.”
Vaella’s heart softened at his words, despite her frustration. She helped him lie down on the bed, her touch tender. “Aegon, I’m not going anywhere. I love you, but you need to stop drinking that. It affects you horribly.”
Aegon ignored her plea, pulling her closer. “Promise me you won’t leave.”
Vaella kissed his forehead, her voice soothing. “I promise, Aegon. I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”
Aegon’s grip on her tightened, his fear and insecurity evident in his eyes. Vaella held him close, her own heart heavy with the burden of their situation. The love she had for him was genuine, but the conflict between her loyalty to her sister and her duty to her husband tore at her.
As Aegon’s breathing began to steady and he drifted off to sleep, Vaella continued to hold him, her thoughts racing. The path ahead was uncertain, filled with peril and difficult choices. She knew she had to find a way to balance her love for her family and her sense of duty, but the weight of that responsibility felt almost unbearable.
As Aegon fell into a deep, drunken sleep, Vaella gently let him go and stood up from the bed. She moved quietly through their chambers, her heart heavy with the weight of their situation. The flickering candlelight cast long shadows on the walls, adding to the somber atmosphere.
Vaella gazed back at Aegon as she undressed, her emotions a tangled web of love, frustration, and sorrow. She knew Aegon never wanted to be king, just as she knew their late father had never intended for him to take the throne, despite Alicent's claims. She slowly removed her gown and dressed in her nightclothes, each movement feeling like an eternity.
Climbing back into bed, she gently rested her head on Aegon's chest. His breathing was deep and steady, a contrast to the turmoil within her. As she settled beside him, Aegon stirred in his sleep and murmured her name. Instinctively, he reached out and pulled her into his embrace, holding onto her as if she were his lifeline.
Vaella felt a pang of sadness as she lay there, wrapped in his arms. She knew the choices she was being forced to make would ultimately break her. The conflict between her loyalty to Rhaenyra and her duty to Aegon was tearing her apart, and she didn't know how to reconcile the two.
As Aegon's arms tightened around her, Vaella closed her eyes, trying to find solace in his warmth. She loved him deeply, but the shadow of the throne and the impending conflict cast a dark pall over their love. She felt trapped between her devotion to her sister and her commitment to her husband, each choice fraught with consequences.
Tears welled in her eyes as she whispered softly, "Aegon, I wish things were different."
He didn't respond, lost in the depths of his slumber, but his grip on her remained firm. Vaella knew that no matter what happened, she had to protect her family. But the road ahead seemed impossibly difficult, and she feared the cost of the decisions she would have to make.
As the night wore on, Vaella lay awake, her mind racing with thoughts of the future. The burden of her divided loyalties felt almost unbearable, and the weight of the realm's expectations pressed down on her. She knew she had to find a way to navigate the treacherous waters ahead, but the prospect filled her with dread.
Vaella lay in the darkness, Aegon's arms around her, the echoes of their argument and the looming conflict filling her mind. The choices she would have to make in the coming days would shape the fate of the realm and her own heart, and she knew that whatever path she chose, there would be no turning back.
…
In the morning, Vaella was woken by the familiar sensation of Aegon's kisses trailing down her neck. She stirred slightly, a soft smile forming on her lips as she felt his warm breath against her skin. Aegon's hands explored her body with a tenderness and familiarity that brought comfort and a sense of normalcy, a brief respite from the chaos of their world.
"Good morning, my love," Aegon whispered, his lips brushing against her ear.
"Good morning," Vaella replied, her voice soft and filled with affection. She turned to face him, their eyes locking, the connection between them palpable.
They continued with their usual morning routine, a dance of kisses and touches, exploring each other's bodies as if nothing else existed. In these moments, the weight of their situation, the throne, and the argument from the day before seemed to melt away. It was just them, lost in the intimacy and closeness they shared.
Aegon's hands moved gently along Vaella's curves, eliciting a soft sigh from her lips. "You are my everything," he murmured, his eyes filled with adoration.
"And you are mine," Vaella replied, her fingers tracing the lines of his face. She kissed him deeply, pouring all her love and longing into the embrace.
Their passion built, the world outside forgotten as they reveled in each other. The knock on the door went unnoticed at first, an intrusion into their private world that they chose to ignore. It came again, more insistent, but still, they remained wrapped in their bubble of love and desire.
On the fifth knock, the voice of Ser Criston Cole broke through their reverie. "Your Grace, the small council has gathered and awaits your presence."
Aegon groaned into their kiss, annoyance evident in the sound. "Damn them," he muttered, his frustration clear. "Can't they leave us in peace for once?"
Vaella laughed softly, her forehead resting against his. "Duty calls, my love."
"I don't want to go," Aegon whispered, his fingers caressing her cheek. "I just want to stay here with you."
"I know," Vaella said, her heart aching with the knowledge of the responsibilities that awaited them. "But we must face the world outside, no matter how much we wish to stay hidden."
Aegon sighed heavily, pulling her into a final, lingering kiss before reluctantly pulling away. "You're right, as always."
They dressed quickly, the lingering warmth of their morning intimacy still surrounding them. Aegon adjusted his tunic, casting a final glance at Vaella, his eyes filled with love and determination. "Let's get this over with."
Vaella nodded, her own resolve strengthening.
Vaella escorted Aegon through the corridors of the Red Keep, Ser Criston Cole accompanying them. The newly appointed Commander of the King’s Guard walked with a determined stride, his presence commanding respect. Vaella and Aegon shared an affectionate goodbye as they reached the small council chambers.
“Be strong, my love,” Vaella whispered, her hand lingering on his cheek.
Aegon smiled, leaning into her touch. “I will. And I’ll see you tonight.”
With a final kiss, they parted ways. Aegon entered the small council chambers while Vaella made her way to meet with Helaena, as she had promised.
Inside the council chamber, the atmosphere was tense. Otto Hightower, Tyland Lannister, Larys Strong, and several other advisors were already seated. Aegon took his place at the head of the table, trying to shake off the unease that had settled over him.
“We have much to discuss,” Otto began, his tone serious. “Aemond has left for Storm’s End on Vhagar. His mission is to secure the loyalty of House Baratheon.”
Tyland Lannister nodded in agreement. “The support of the Stormlands will be crucial. We must also ensure our position in the Reach and the Riverlands.”
Aegon listened, his mind struggling to stay focused. Thoughts of Vaella kept drifting back, the memory of their intimate moments this morning and the promise of the evening they planned to share. He glanced at Otto, who was watching him closely.
“Aegon, we need your full attention,” Otto said, his voice sharp. “The realm is on the brink of war, and every decision we make now will determine our fate.”
Aegon sighed, forcing himself to concentrate. “I understand. What’s the status of our alliances?”
Larys Strong leaned forward, his fingers steepled. “House Hightower is firmly with us, of course. The Lannisters are on our side as well. We need to ensure that the Tyrells remain loyal, and that the Riverlands do not swing in favor of Rhaenyra.”
Tyland added, “We’ve also received word that the Vale remains neutral for now, but their support could be swayed if we present the right incentives.”
Aegon nodded, trying to absorb the information. “And what of the North?”
Otto’s expression darkened. “The Starks have always been staunch supporters of Rhaenyra. It will be difficult to bring them to our side, but we must try.”
As the discussions continued, Aegon found it increasingly hard to keep his thoughts from drifting. The weight of his new role was pressing down on him, and the responsibility felt overwhelming. He was king, but the crown felt heavy and foreign on his head.
Otto noticed Aegon’s absentmindedness and leaned forward. “Aegon, you must focus. This war will determine the future of the realm. We cannot afford to be distracted.”
Aegon met his grandfather’s gaze, a mixture of frustration and determination in his eyes. “I know, Otto. I’m just… it’s a lot to take in.”
“We all have our burdens,” Otto replied, his tone softening slightly. “But you must rise to the occasion. The realm needs a strong leader, now more than ever.”
Aegon nodded, steeling himself. “You’re right. We need to ensure our alliances are strong and prepare for the inevitable conflict.”
As the council continued to strategize, Aegon’s thoughts occasionally wandered back to Vaella. He longed for the comfort of her presence, the solace she provided in the midst of the chaos. But he knew that for now, he had to focus on the task at hand.
The discussions turned to logistics, troop movements, and potential battle plans. Aegon listened intently, contributing where he could, but always with the weight of his responsibilities pressing down on him. The fate of the realm rested on his shoulders, and he couldn’t afford to falter.
Hours passed, and the council meeting finally drew to a close. Otto looked at Aegon, a mixture of pride and expectation in his eyes. “You did well today. Remember, we are here to support you. Together, we will secure the throne.”
Aegon nodded, exhaustion evident in his posture. “Thank you, Otto. I will do my best.”
Meanwhile, Vaella made her way to the gardens where she and Helaena often met for morning tea and breakfast. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a warm glow over the lush greenery. The servants had already set up a table with delicate porcelain tea sets and an array of pastries and fruits.
Vaella approached Helaena, who was already seated and gently cradling a cup of tea. Her serene expression brought a sense of calm to the morning. Vaella's youngest, Aeron, rested peacefully in a transportable cradle that the servants had brought along, while Baelor and Daena played nearby with Helaena's twins, Jaehaerys and Jaehaera.
"Good morning, Helaena," Vaella greeted, taking a seat and pouring herself a cup of tea.
"Good morning, Vaella," Helaena replied with a gentle smile. "How are you today?"
Vaella sighed, the weight of recent events pressing down on her. "As well as can be expected, given everything."
The two sisters-in-law enjoyed their tea and breakfast, the peaceful garden providing a brief respite from the turmoil inside the Red Keep. They watched their children play together, their laughter a soothing balm to Vaella's troubled heart.
After a while, Helaena turned to Vaella, her expression thoughtful. "How are you feeling about Rhaenyra?"
Vaella's face fell, the question cutting through her like a knife. "I feel... conflicted. I love Aegon, but Rhaenyra is my sister. I feel like I've betrayed her."
Helaena reached out, placing a comforting hand on Vaella's. "It's a difficult situation. But you must follow your heart. Sometimes, we have to make choices that hurt us deeply."
Vaella nodded, her eyes misting with unshed tears. "I just wish things were different."
Helaena's gaze grew distant, her tone cryptic. "You should fear more of being eaten than being a traitor."
Vaella frowned, puzzled by her half-sister's words. "What do you mean, Helaena?"
Helaena's expression shifted, a mysterious smile playing on her lips. "Oh, look at how Jaehaerys and Baelor play together. They seem to get along so well."
Vaella blinked, the sudden change in topic leaving her confused. "Yes, they do."
Helaena continued to talk about the children, her demeanor light and cheerful as if she hadn't just delivered a cryptic warning. Vaella couldn't shake the feeling that there was a deeper meaning to Helaena's words, but her half-sister seemed determined to move on from the subject.
They spent the rest of the morning watching their children play, sharing stories and enjoying each other's company. Vaella appreciated Helaena's presence and the comfort she provided, even if her cryptic words lingered in Vaella's mind like a dark cloud.
As the sun climbed higher in the sky, the servants began to clear the table. Vaella stood and gently rocked Aeron's cradle, her thoughts returning to the challenges that lay ahead.
"Thank you for this morning, Helaena," Vaella said softly. "It was good to have some peace, even if only for a little while."
Helaena smiled warmly. "Anytime, Vaella. We must find moments of tranquility where we can."
Vaella nodded, her heart heavy but bolstered by the support of her family. The cryptic warning from Helaena lingered in her mind, a reminder that even within the safety of the Red Keep, danger was never far away.
…
The next day, Vaella adorned herself in her dragon riding attire, a set of finely crafted leather armor in shades of coal black and silver, designed for both protection and ease of movement. The intricate designs etched into the leather resembled dragon scales, a subtle nod to her heritage. She finished securing the straps and adjusted her gloves, feeling the familiar thrill of anticipation that always accompanied her flights with Cannibal.
As she made her way through the halls of the Red Keep, intent on reaching the dragon pit, she was abruptly stopped by a knight of the Kingsguard, Ser Arryk Cargyll.
"Ser Arryk," Vaella greeted, a note of impatience in her voice. "What is the meaning of this?"
Ser Arryk bowed slightly, his expression apologetic but firm. "Princess, the Dowager Queen has forbidden you from leaving the Keep due to concerns for your safety."
Vaella's eyes narrowed, a mixture of frustration and realization washing over her. "I see. And am I to remain a prisoner here, under the guise of protection?"
"The Dowager Queen's orders are for your safety, Your Grace," Ser Arryk replied carefully. "I am to escort you back to the royal quarters."
Vaella felt a surge of anger and helplessness. The realization that Alicent, or rather Otto, was using the pretext of safety to keep her confined struck her deeply. She understood now just how much power her stepmother and grandfather had accumulated over the years.
"Very well, Ser Arryk," she said, her voice controlled but simmering with underlying defiance. "Lead the way."
As they walked back through the corridors, Vaella's mind churned with thoughts of the growing power struggle within the Red Keep. She could feel the weight of the invisible chains that held her, each link forged by years of careful manipulation and control by Otto and Alicent.
They reached the royal quarters, and Vaella paused outside the door to her chambers. "Thank you, Ser Arryk. You may leave me now."
The knight bowed again and took his leave. Vaella stood there for a moment, her thoughts racing. She knew she couldn't remain passive in the face of such manipulation. She had to confront Alicent, to understand the true extent of her stepmother's plans and find a way to reclaim her agency.
With renewed determination, Vaella turned and made her way to Alicent's chambers. The journey through the familiar corridors felt longer than usual, each step heavy with the weight of the confrontation to come. As she reached Alicent's chambers, she paused outside the door, gathering her thoughts and steeling herself for the encounter.
Vaella stood for a while before Alicent's chambers, the realization of her captivity and the need to assert her own power fueling her resolve.
…
Alicent opened the door to her chambers, looking disheveled and distressed, but she quickly masked it with her usual grimace. "Vaella, is something wrong?" she asked, her voice attempting to sound concerned.
Vaella pushed past her stepmother, her eyes blazing with determination. "We need to talk," she declared, closing the door behind them with a firm click.
Alicent turned to face her, her expression guarded. "What is this about, Vaella?"
"Why am I a prisoner in my own home?" Vaella asked bluntly, her voice edged with frustration and hurt.
"You are the Queen," Alicent replied calmly. "You walk freely within this castle."
"Drop it, Alicent," Vaella snapped. "I know your games all too well. I have a lot of respect for you for raising me, for taking me as one of your own, and for standing by my father through all those tormenting years. But this? This is shrewd even for you."
Alicent's expression hardened. "Until you accept your new responsibilities, you are not permitted to leave. Both you and Aegon need to grasp the reality of what is happening."
"What's happening is madness," Vaella retorted, her voice rising. "Just because of something you claim to have heard my father say on his deathbed."
Alicent walked around the table, pouring herself a goblet of wine. She took a sip, her eyes never leaving Vaella. "Do you really think the realm would adhere to Viserys' foolish notion for Rhaenyra to succeed him?"
Vaella stared at her, incredulous. "Many Houses bent the knee and swore their loyalty to Rhaenyra."
Alicent waved a dismissive hand. "A necessary gesture at the time, but the world won't change overnight just for an old oath sworn under a dead king's decree. The Lords will never accept a woman on the Iron Throne."
Vaella's gaze hardened. "Viserys was our king, and his decree was law."
Alicent took another sip of her wine, her eyes cold. "Viserys was weak, and you know that better than anyone. The realm needs a strong ruler, someone who can command respect and loyalty. Not a woman whose claim is already in question."
Vaella felt a surge of anger and betrayal. "You speak of respect and loyalty, yet you undermine everything my father stood for. You speak of strength, but all I see is manipulation and deceit."
Alicent's expression softened slightly, a hint of sadness in her eyes. "Vaella, I do what I must to protect this family, to secure our future. You may not understand now, but one day you will see the necessity of these actions."
Vaella's resolve only strengthened. "I see clearly now, Alicent. I see the lengths you and Otto are willing to go to for power. But I will not be a pawn in your game."
Alicent set down her goblet, her demeanor shifting to one of firm resolve. "Then you leave me no choice. You will remain here until you accept your role as Queen and stand by Aegon's side. This is not just about you or me; it is about the future of the realm."
Vaella turned to leave, her heart heavy with the weight of their confrontation. As she reached the door, she paused, her voice steady and filled with determination. "I will find a way to make you see reason, Alicent. And I will not betray my sister."
…
When Aemond arrived back with Vhagar to King's Landing, the entire city seemed to tremble. Vaella could hear Cannibal's roars shaking the battlements outside even before the news reached her: Lucerys Velaryon was dead. She was with her children when it happened, their innocent laughter piercing her heart as the crushing weight of her nephew's death settled over her like a storm.
The memory of Lucerys, the boy she had spent most of her childhood years with, flashed before her eyes. The playful moments, the shared secrets, the bond they had formed. Her heart ached with a grief that felt almost unbearable.
Without a second thought, she hurried through the Red Keep to find Aemond. As she arrived before the small council chambers, she saw the members beginning to exit. Aegon was the first to emerge, flanked by his Kingsguard. He gave her a meaningful gaze and touched her arm gently as he passed.
"We'll talk later," he said softly, his voice tinged with urgency. "Otto wants me to deal with some matters at court."
On cue, Otto appeared behind him, ushering Aegon to move. Otto gave Vaella an unreadable look before following Aegon, leaving the chamber empty except for Aemond, who stood slouched over a table, his back to her.
Vaella entered the room cautiously, her heart pounding. Aemond looked up at her, his one eye narrowing slightly as he anticipated the question she would ask.
Before she could speak, he said in a cold, flat tone, "I killed Prince Lucerys."
Vaella froze, her feet glued to the spot. Her voice was barely a whisper as she managed to ask, "Why?"
Aemond suddenly pushed himself off the table, his movements sharp and filled with pent-up emotion. He approached her, his presence looming. "You know why," he said, his voice carrying a dangerous edge.
Vaella closed her eyes, the memories of the teasing and torment Aemond had endured flooding her mind. She had been there, a silent witness to his suffering.
"He needed to pay," Aemond continued, his voice growing louder. "I wanted him to take his eye out in exchange for taking mine."
Vaella opened her eyes, meeting his gaze with a mixture of sorrow and disbelief. "I thought you had put it behind you," she whispered. "You got Vhagar, Aemond. You won."
Aemond's eye flashed with anger and pain. "Winning Vhagar doesn't erase the humiliation. The pain. Every time I looked in the mirror, I saw the price I paid. He needed to understand that."
Vaella shook her head, tears welling up in her eyes. "Aemond, this will only lead to more bloodshed. More suffering. What have you done?"
Aemond's expression softened for a moment, a flicker of regret crossing his features. But it was quickly replaced by a steely resolve. "I've done what needed to be done. The Velaryons, the Greens, the Blacks... this war is inevitable. We have to be ready."
Vaella's heart ached for the boy she had once known, now hardened into a man driven by vengeance. She took a step closer, her voice trembling. "Aemond, please. Don't let this consume you."
Aemond looked at her, his gaze intense. "It's already done, Vaella. There's no turning back now."
He left Vaella standing in the chamber alone, her heart heavy with grief and fear for what the future held.
Vaella turned, leaving the council chambers of the Green council behind. Her hands clenched the hems of her dress tightly, her knuckles white from the force. The clinking of armor behind her indicated the presence of a knight of the Kingsguard, following her steps as a constant reminder of the protection—and the control—imposed upon her by Alicent and Otto.
The echoes of her conversation with Alicent played over and over in her mind. The manipulation, the cunning, the insistence on securing power at any cost. It was all too much, but she had to stay strong. For her children. For her family.
She walked briskly through the halls, her heart heavy with the weight of Aemond’s actions and the grief for her nephew, Lucerys. The pain of his loss was almost unbearable, but she had to keep moving.
As she entered the nursery, the sight of her children playing momentarily softened the hard edges of her sorrow. The servants bowed slightly, acknowledging her presence, and then returned to their duties. Vaella took a seat in the corner, her eyes fixed on her children as they laughed and played, oblivious to the turmoil engulfing their world.
Baelor was engaged in a mock sword fight with a wooden sword, his movements full of youthful energy. Daena was playing with her dolls, arranging them in a little circle, her face serene and content. Baby Aeron slept peacefully in his cradle, his tiny chest rising and falling with each breath.
Despite the innocent joy of her children, Vaella’s mind kept drifting back to Lucerys. The memory of his smile, his laughter, and the bond they had shared. And then, inevitably, her thoughts turned to Rhaenyra. How would her sister react to the news? The pain, the anger—it would be unbearable.
One of the servants approached cautiously. “Your Grace, is everything alright?”
Vaella forced a smile, though it didn’t reach her eyes. “Yes, thank you. I just needed a moment.”
The servant nodded and returned to her tasks. Vaella’s gaze returned to her children, her heart aching with the knowledge that their world was about to change irrevocably.
Baelor, noticing his mother’s somber expression, ran over to her, his wooden sword clutched in his small hand. “Mother, are you sad?”
Vaella’s heart twisted at his innocent question. She pulled him into a hug, kissing the top of his head. “No, my dear. Just thinking.”
Daena looked up from her dolls, her bright eyes filled with concern. “Mother, will we see Aunt Rhaenyra and our cousins again soon?”
Vaella’s throat tightened, and she struggled to keep her voice steady. “I hope so, Daena. I hope so.”
She sat there, holding Baelor close, watching Daena play and listening to the soft breaths of Aeron. But the laughter of her children couldn’t drown out the storm of emotions inside her. The image of Lucerys, lifeless, and the inevitable wrath of Rhaenyra haunted her thoughts.
…
Later that night, as the day drew to a close, Aegon finally made his way to their chambers. He looked tired, the weight of the crown and his new duties clearly overwhelming him. Vaella watched him with a mixture of empathy and concern. She understood his plight all too well. Neither Aegon nor she had been groomed for the crown. Alicent and Otto had focused on manipulating circumstances to their favor, but neither had truly prepared Aegon for the burdens of rule. Viserys had poured all his efforts into Rhaenyra, leaving Aegon and Vaella mostly to their own devices unless their behavior directly affected their house.
Unlike Aemond, who had dedicated himself to rigorous studies and combat training, Aegon had enjoyed the freedom of not being the one to inherit the burdens of the realm. Vaella feared that crowning Aegon was merely a move by the Hightowers to use him as a puppet, maintaining their monopoly over the realm while keeping the Targaryen name in place.
Aegon sat next to Vaella and took her hand, his touch gentle but weary. "It's been a long day," he said, his voice tinged with exhaustion.
Vaella looked into his eyes, searching for the right moment to bring up the heavy news. "Aemond killed Luke," she said quietly, her voice filled with sorrow and disbelief.
Aegon responded flatly, his distaste for his nephews evident. "Luke was always a troublemaker," he said, his tone laced with years of Alicent's drilling about Rhaenyra and her children.
Vaella pulled her hand away from his grasp, her heart aching. "He was just a boy, Aegon. An envoy Rhaenyra sent."
Aegon sighed, his annoyance growing. "I don't want to talk about Luke and sour our relationship because of it."
Vaella put her head in her hands, feeling the weight of their situation pressing down on her. Aegon stood up and walked over to her, trying to lighten the mood. "Hey," he said, his tone suddenly enthusiastic. "We could go into the city again, escape for a while. And now, we don't have to sneak away anymore since I'm king."
Vaella lifted her head, her eyes filled with sadness. "Your mother gave strict orders for me to be confined in the Red Keep."
Aegon's smile faltered, his enthusiasm replaced by a look of concern and confusion. "I did not know of this," he said quietly, sitting back down beside her.
As they sat together, the weight of their situation pressing down on them, Aegon took Vaella's hand and squeezed it gently. "I promise, I'll confront my mother about this," he said, his voice filled with determination.
Vaella shook her head slowly, her eyes filled with concern. "Aegon, you won't achieve anything. I'm viewed as a threat, especially now that Luke is dead."
Aegon frowned, his expression innocent and bewildered. "That's absurd. Why would they see you as a threat?"
Vaella sighed, her heart heavy with the burden of the truth. "It's not absurd. There will be war, and I have a large dragon. They fear the scale will bend in favor of Rhaenyra."
Aegon looked at her with a mix of confusion and defiance. "But it won't. You love me, and we have our children. That's what matters."
Vaella stood up and walked over to the window, staring out into the night. The flickering lights of the city below seemed to mock the turmoil within her. "Do you understand the position I'm in, Aegon? The choice I have to make is impossible."
Aegon sighed and joined her at the window, his presence a comforting warmth beside her. "I never wanted any of this either," he admitted quietly. "But I must admit, it feels liberating to have power, to have my words heard and not always discarded."
Vaella's gaze softened as she looked at him, but internally she wondered to what extent he was truly heard and taken seriously. She placed a hand on his cheek, and he leaned into her touch affectionately. She kissed his forehead, her heart aching with the weight of their circumstances.
"The hour is late," she said softly. "We should go to bed."
Aegon nodded, his eyes filled with a mixture of love and determination. "I'll talk to my mother tomorrow about how you're being treated. I promise."
Vaella gave him a small, sad smile. "Thank you, Aegon."
They made their way to the bed, the silence between them heavy with unspoken fears and hopes. As they lay down together, Aegon wrapped his arms around Vaella, holding her close.
"I love you," he whispered, his voice barely audible in the darkness.
"I love you too," Vaella replied, her voice trembling with emotion.
…
Aegon tapped his fingers on the small council chamber table, the rhythmic sound a stark contrast to the tense silence that hung in the room. He watched as his advisors began to rise from their seats, preparing to leave. The effects of his crowning and the recent death of his nephew, Lucerys, were beginning to ripple through the realm, affecting his rule in ways he hadn't fully anticipated. The blockade of the Gullet had severely hindered their economy, and the defection of some Houses, coupled with the indecisiveness of others, weighed heavily on his mind.
His gaze fell on his mother, Alicent, who had attended the council meeting. As she stood to leave, Aegon's stern voice cut through the room. "Everyone, stay and sit back down."
Ser Criston, who was poised to escort the Queen, stopped in his tracks, his gaze sharpening at the king's tone. The room's atmosphere grew taut as Aegon repeated his command, "I said, sit."
Otto Hightower, Aegon's grandfather and Hand of the King, complied but remained standing. "Is there anything else you wish to discuss, Your Grace?"
Aegon turned his piercing gaze to Alicent. "Why is my wife confined like a criminal?"
Before Alicent could respond, several members of the small council spoke up. Lord Tyland Lannister was the first. "Your Grace, the Queen's alliance is still unclear. Her safety is of utmost priority in these uncertain times."
Another member, Jasper Wylde, added, "We cannot afford any missteps. Ensuring her security is paramount."
Aegon shook his head, his frustration mounting. "I don't want to hear it. You were all in on it. You keep my wife confined, and none of you had the audacity to speak to me directly about it."
Alicent tried to reason with her son, her voice calm but firm. "Aegon, please understand, it's for her protection."
Aegon stood abruptly, his chair scraping loudly against the stone floor. "I don't want to hear any more of this."
Otto interjected, his voice steady but insistent. "Your Grace, the matter of the Queen's treatment is closed until more urgent issues are resolved."
Aegon's fists clenched at his sides as he stormed out of the chamber, the door slamming shut behind him. His mind raced, filled with the realization that Vaella had been right. This confrontation had achieved nothing.
As he walked through the corridors of the Red Keep, Aegon's thoughts were a whirlwind of anger and frustration. He had hoped to assert his authority, to make it clear that Vaella's confinement was unacceptable. Instead, he had been met with resistance and rationalizations, his power undermined by those who were supposed to support him.
…
As the lords filed out of the small council chamber—Larys Strong, Tyland Lannister, Jasper Wylde, and Grand Maester Orwyle—the atmosphere in the room remained tense. Otto Hightower, Alicent, and Ser Criston Cole stayed behind, the echoes of Aegon's frustrated departure still lingering.
Alicent sighed, her face drawn with concern. "Aegon's attachment to Vaella is going to be a problem," she said, her voice low. "The same obsession that we thought would help us control both of them is now working against us."
Otto stroked his beard thoughtfully, his eyes narrowing as he considered the situation. "Not necessarily," he replied. "We can still turn this to our advantage."
Alicent looked at him skeptically. "And how do you propose we do that, Father?"
Otto met her gaze steadily. "If we can gain Vaella's favor, it will send a strong message to the realm and the other Houses. It would show that even Rhaenyra's trueborn sister stands against her. That could sway many who are currently undecided."
Alicent shook her head, her expression resolute. "That will never happen. Vaella's loyalty to Rhaenyra is too strong. She would never betray her sister."
Otto's eyes gleamed with a calculating light. "People can be persuaded, Alicent. Vaella's situation is precarious. If we can find the right leverage, the right incentive, we might turn her to our side."
Ser Criston Cole, who had been standing quietly by, finally spoke up. "What leverage do you have in mind, my lord? Vaella is fiercely loyal, not just to Rhaenyra, but to Aegon as well. Any misstep could push her further away."
Otto nodded, acknowledging the difficulty. "It's true. But we must be strategic. We need to make Vaella see that aligning with us is not just beneficial, but necessary for her and her children's safety."
Alicent frowned, her worry evident. "Vaella is smart, Father. She will see through any manipulation. And if Aegon finds out we're trying to use her in this way..."
Otto's expression turned steely. "Aegon is still new to power. His emotions are raw, but he can be guided. We need to be careful, yes, but we also need to be decisive. Vaella must be made to understand that her loyalty to Rhaenyra is a liability, not an asset."
Alicent sighed again, her shoulders slumping slightly. "I fear this will not end well. We are playing a dangerous game, and the stakes are higher than ever."
Otto placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We've always played a dangerous game, Alicent. This is no different. We must stay vigilant and adaptable. The realm's future depends on it."
…
Aegon walked the hallways of the Keep, his frustration and annoyance evident to everyone who passed by him. His brows were furrowed, and his fists clenched at his sides as he tried to process the events of the small council meeting. His guards trailed behind him, their presence a constant reminder of his newfound responsibilities and the weight of the crown on his head.
As he turned a corner, Aegon’s eyes fell upon a small figure playing in the corridor. It was his eldest son, Baelor. The sight of the little boy brought a genuine smile to Aegon’s face, momentarily easing the burden on his heart.
“Baelor!” Aegon called, his voice filled with affection.
Baelor looked up, his face lighting up as he saw his father. “Father!” he exclaimed, running towards Aegon with open arms.
Aegon scooped him up, lifting him into the air before bringing him into a tight embrace. “How is my brave little dragon today?” he asked, his tone playful.
Baelor giggled, his small hands gripping Aegon’s tunic. “I’m good, Father! I was just playing with my soldiers.”
Aegon chuckled, ruffling his son’s hair. “Well, how about we do something even more exciting?”
Baelor’s eyes widened with curiosity. “What is it?”
Aegon set him down and crouched to his level. “How would you like to go flying with me on Sunfyre?”
Baelor’s face broke into a wide grin, his excitement palpable. “Really? Can we, Father?”
Aegon nodded, his heart swelling with pride and love for his son. “Yes, we can. Come on, let’s get you ready.”
Aegon took Baelor’s hand and began walking towards the royal chambers. His guards followed closely, though Aegon’s focus was entirely on his son. They soon arrived, and Aegon called for the servants to prepare Baelor for the flight.
Once Baelor was dressed in suitable attire for dragon riding, Aegon turned to his guards. “Prepare transportation and an escort to the Dragonpit,” he ordered, his voice firm and authoritative.
The guards nodded and hurried off to fulfill his command. Aegon looked down at Baelor, who was practically bouncing with excitement. He couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief. Spending time with his son was exactly what he needed to escape the pressures and frustrations of his new role, even if only for a short while.
As they waited for the transportation to be prepared, Aegon sat with Baelor, sharing stories of his own adventures and the joy of flying on Sunfyre. The bond between father and son grew stronger with each passing moment, a reminder that even amidst the chaos and political intrigue, there were simple joys to be found.
Once they were in the carriage on their way to the Dragonpit, Aegon leaned back, feeling a rare sense of peace as he looked at his son, Baelor. The boy was a living proof of his and Vaella's bond, a symbol of the love that anchored him amidst the storm of politics and power struggles.
"Are you excited, Baelor?" Aegon asked, his smile wide and genuine.
Baelor nodded enthusiastically, his eyes shining with anticipation. "Yes, Father! I’ve always wanted to fly with you and Sunfyre!"
Aegon chuckled, ruffling Baelor’s hair. "Sunfyre is a magnificent dragon. You’re going to love it. Flying feels like you’re touching the sky."
Baelor’s face lit up with wonder. "Do you think I’ll have my own dragon someday, Father?"
Aegon nodded. "Of course, you will. Every Targaryen should have a dragon. It’s in our blood."
They continued to talk, Aegon sharing stories of his own first flights and the adventures he had with Sunfyre. The boy listened intently, his eyes wide with fascination.
After a moment, Baelor fell silent, his expression turning thoughtful. "Father," he said quietly, "why is Mother sad ever since Grandsire Viserys is gone?"
Aegon’s smile faltered for a moment. The innocence of his son’s question struck him deeply, reminding him of how hard these times were on his small children, who were blissfully unaware of the complexities and dangers surrounding them.
Aegon took a deep breath and chose his words carefully. "Your mother has a lot on her shoulders, Baelor. She’s just tired. Losing Grandsire Viserys was very hard for her, but she’s strong. She’ll be happy again soon, I promise."
Baelor looked up at him, his eyes wide with concern. "Really? You promise, Father?"
Aegon smiled softly, ruffling his son’s hair once more. "I promise. We’ll all be happy again soon."
The carriage continued its journey, the rhythmic clatter of hooves on the cobblestone streets filling the silence. Aegon looked out the window, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts. He knew the promise he made to his son was one he would fight to keep, despite the challenges that lay ahead.
As they neared the Dragonpit, the massive structure loomed into view. Its imposing silhouette was a testament to the might and majesty of House Targaryen. Aegon felt a surge of pride and determination. He was king now, and he would do everything in his power to protect his family and ensure their happiness.
The carriage came to a halt, and the guards moved to open the doors. Aegon and Baelor stepped out, the cool breeze carrying the faint, familiar scent of dragonfire. The Dragonpit was alive with activity, dragonkeepers and handlers preparing for their arrival.
"Are you ready, Baelor?" Aegon asked, taking his son’s hand.
Baelor nodded, his excitement returning. "Yes, Father!"
Aegon and Baelor entered the Dragonpit, the vast, echoing chamber alive with the sounds and smells of dragons. The air was thick with the scent of dragonfire and the heavy, almost electric feeling that always accompanied these mighty beasts. The Dragonkeepers moved with practiced efficiency, their eyes watchful as they brought forth Sunfyre.
The magnificent dragon emerged from the shadows, his golden scales shimmering in the light. Sunfyre's eyes gleamed with recognition as he saw Aegon, and his massive head lowered gracefully to greet his rider.
"Baelor, this is Sunfyre," Aegon said, his voice filled with pride. "Sunfyre, meet my son, Baelor."
Sunfyre’s snout came down to Baelor, who stood in awe of the giant creature before him. With a mixture of bravery and excitement, Baelor reached out and hugged Sunfyre's snout. The dragon rumbled softly, allowing the boy's touch and even nudging him playfully. Baelor laughed, the sound pure and joyous, echoing through the Dragonpit.
"Good boy, Sunfyre," Aegon said, patting the dragon's neck. "He likes you, Baelor."
The Dragonkeepers assisted Aegon in securing Baelor and himself atop Sunfyre's saddle. Aegon ensured that his son was safely strapped in before taking the reins. "Hold on tight," Aegon instructed, his voice steady.
As Sunfyre spread his massive wings and took to the sky, Baelor's eyes widened with wonder. The ground fell away beneath them, and the wind rushed past, carrying them higher and higher. The world below seemed to shrink as they soared above King's Landing.
"This is amazing, Father!" Baelor shouted over the wind, his face alight with pure joy.
Aegon laughed, feeling a sense of freedom and exhilaration that he hadn't felt in a long time. "I told you it would be! There's nothing like flying, Baelor."
They flew over the city, the streets and buildings appearing as mere dots below them. Sunfyre’s powerful wings carried them effortlessly through the air, his golden scales reflecting the sunlight like a living beacon.
As they flew, Aegon spotted a dark shape in the distance. It was Cannibal, Vaella’s dragon, flying alone. Cannibal’s calls were loud and haunting, echoing through the skies. The sight and sound of the dragon's lonely flight tugged at Aegon's heart, a stark reminder of Vaella’s confinement in the Red Keep.
Baelor noticed too, his young eyes wide. "Is that Cannibal, Father?"
"Yes, it is," Aegon replied, his voice tinged with sadness. "He's calling for your mother."
"Why can't Mother come flying with us?" Baelor asked innocently.
Aegon sighed, his heart heavy. "It's complicated, Baelor. But soon, I hope."
They continued to fly, the joy of the experience mingling with the bittersweet reality of their situation. Sunfyre soared higher, and Aegon pointed out landmarks and places of interest to Baelor, who listened with rapt attention.
They flew over the Red Keep, and Aegon couldn't help but look down at the vast castle below, knowing Vaella was somewhere inside, unable to join them. The sight of Cannibal circling above the city, his lonely calls continuing, was a poignant reminder of the challenges they faced.
Eventually, they began their descent, Sunfyre's wings beating steadily as they made their way back to the Dragonpit. The landing was smooth, and Aegon helped Baelor dismount, the boy's face still glowing with excitement.
"Thank you, Father! That was the best thing ever!" Baelor exclaimed, hugging Aegon tightly.
Aegon smiled, his heart swelling with love and pride. "I'm glad you enjoyed it, Baelor. We'll do this again soon, I promise."
As they walked back towards the carriage, Aegon glanced up at the sky one last time, watching Cannibal's distant form.
…
Dowager Queen Alicent paced the corridors of the Red Keep, her mind a whirlwind of worry and frustration. Ser Criston Cole, her ever-loyal protector and confidant, walked beside her, his demeanor calm and composed. She turned to him, her face a mask of concern.
"Criston, it was reckless to allow Aegon to take Baelor on dragonback," she complained, her voice tight with anxiety. "Anything could have happened. What if he had fallen from the saddle?"
Cole inclined his head slightly, acknowledging her concerns. "Your Grace, it was the king's order. Little Prince Baelor was excited to spend time with his father. And it is good for the crown to be seen, a father and son flying over the city. It strengthens the people’s loyalty."
Alicent’s eyes flashed with irritation. "It won't strengthen anything if the boy falls to his death. Aegon has done some irresponsible things in the past, but now he's dragging his children into his recklessness."
Her voice wavered, and she stopped walking, her hand clutching the pendant around her neck. Her thoughts churned with worry for her grandson. Despite her strained relationship with Vaella and the current political situation, Alicent loved all her grandchildren deeply. The thought of losing one of them was unbearable, especially now, when the threat of Rhaenyra’s vengeance loomed over them.
Criston placed a reassuring hand on Alicent’s shoulder, his voice calm and steady. "Your Grace, I understand your fears. But the King is trying to bond with his son, and perhaps show the realm a united front. It is not without risk, but it is necessary."
Alicent’s expression softened slightly, but her eyes remained filled with concern. "I fear for them, Criston. Especially now, with Rhaenyra seeking vengeance for her son. She will not stop until she has her retribution."
Criston nodded, his grip on her shoulder firm but comforting. "We will do everything in our power to protect them, Your Grace. The realm is in turmoil, but we must remain vigilant. Aegon and Vaella’s children are the future of House Targaryen."
Alicent sighed, her shoulders slumping as she allowed herself to lean into Criston’s reassuring presence. "I know. But the danger is so great. Every time they leave the safety of the Red Keep, I fear for their lives."
Criston’s eyes were resolute. "We will protect them. I will protect them. Trust in that, Your Grace."
Alicent took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. "Thank you, Criston. Your loyalty is a comfort in these dark times."
Criston bowed his head slightly. "Always, Your Grace."
As they continued walking, Alicent’s mind remained troubled, but Criston’s words provided a small measure of solace.
…
Aegon returned to the Red Keep with Baelor, his son’s excitement palpable as they walked through the corridors. The Kingsguard flanked them, their silent presence a reminder of the pressing expectations and responsibilities weighing down on Aegon. Despite the exhilaration of the flight, the demands of his duty loomed ever larger.
"Father, can we find Mother and tell her about our flight?" Baelor asked, his eyes wide with excitement.
Aegon smiled, ruffling his son’s hair. "Of course, Baelor. I’m sure your mother and siblings will be thrilled to hear about it."
As they made their way through the keep, they encountered Larys Strong. The Master of Whisperers greeted them with a slight bow, his eyes keen and calculating. "Your Grace, Prince Baelor," Larys said smoothly. "I hope your flight was enjoyable."
"It was amazing!" Baelor exclaimed before Aegon could respond. "Sunfyre is the best dragon ever!"
Aegon chuckled at his son's enthusiasm. "Indeed, it was a fine flight."
Larys nodded, his smile thin and enigmatic. "Your Grace, when you have a moment, I would like to speak with you privately. There are matters that require your attention."
Aegon’s smile faded slightly, but he nodded in acknowledgment. "I will see you later, Larys."
Larys bowed again and stepped aside, allowing them to continue on their way. They soon reached the nursery, where Vaella was playing with Daena and baby Aeron. The sight of his family brought a genuine smile to Aegon’s face, easing the burdens on his shoulders, if only for a moment.
"Mother! Mother!" Baelor called out, running ahead to Vaella. "We went flying on Sunfyre! It was incredible!"
Vaella looked up, her face lighting up at the sight of her son’s excitement. She scooped up Baelor in a warm embrace. "Did you have fun, my brave little dragon?" she asked, her voice filled with affection.
"Yes! Sunfyre is so big and strong, and we flew so high!" Baelor babbled, his words tumbling over each other in his eagerness to share.
Aegon walked over, his smile softening as he watched the interaction. "He was a natural," he said, pride evident in his voice.
Vaella looked at Aegon, her eyes reflecting a mixture of love and worry. "I’m glad you both enjoyed it," she said softly. "But please be careful. The world is dangerous now."
Aegon nodded, understanding her concern. "I know, Vaella. But I wanted to give Baelor something to be happy about."
Daena, noticing her father's arrival, ran over and hugged his leg. "Father! Did you bring us anything?"
Aegon laughed, scooping her up into his arms. "Just stories of our adventure," he said, planting a kiss on her forehead.
Vaella smiled at the sight of her husband and children, but the worry never fully left her eyes. "Baelor, why don’t you tell your sister all about your flight while I speak with your father?"
Baelor nodded eagerly, taking Daena’s hand and leading her to the side to share his tales.
Aegon handed baby Aeron, who was in Vaella’s arms, to a nearby servant and took Vaella’s hand. "Let’s talk," he said quietly.
They stepped a little away, the sounds of their children’s laughter in the background. Vaella looked up at Aegon, her face a mix of love and concern. "Aegon, we need to be careful. Every move we make is being watched."
Aegon sighed, taking Vaella’s hand and further leading her to a quieter corner of the nursery. He looked into her eyes, a hint of concern clouding his expression. "Larys asked to speak with me," he said, his voice low.
Vaella frowned, her brow furrowing in thought. "Larys Strong? What does he want?"
Aegon shrugged, though his unease was evident. "I'm not sure. He usually stays in the shadows, never really bothering us. But now, it seems he wants more direct contact with the new King."
Vaella's gaze hardened slightly. "Be careful with him, Aegon. He's a dangerous man, one who knows too much and says too little. His motives are never clear."
Aegon nodded, pulling her closer. "I will be careful. I promise."
They shared a tender kiss, the tension between them momentarily melting away. Aegon’s hands moved to cradle Vaella’s face, his touch gentle and reassuring. The warmth of their embrace provided a fleeting sanctuary from the world outside.
As the kiss deepened, Vaella’s worries seemed to fade, replaced by the comforting familiarity of Aegon’s presence. But reality intruded, and Aegon reluctantly broke the kiss, resting his forehead against hers.
"I promise, we’ll continue this later," he whispered, his voice filled with longing. "In our bedchamber."
Vaella smiled softly, her eyes reflecting the love she felt for him. "I'll hold you to that, Aegon."
He chuckled, pressing a final kiss to her lips before stepping back. "I’ll see you soon, my love."
Vaella watched him leave, her heart heavy with both love and concern.

a whole bunch of notes on Ilithyia and her and Utah's kids under the cut;
Born in 1963
25 in 1988
26 in 1989
29 in 1992
33 in 1996
43 in 2006
55 in 2018
61 in 2024
okay, this is actually where we're at with her age, and if you look below here's where I am with the kids.
Ogden UT. ‘Zach’ (he/him): Est. 1846, born 1988. Currently 19 physically.
Salt Lake City UT. ‘Jaxson’ (he/him): Est. 1847, born 1989. Currently 18 physically.
Provo UT. ‘Kayleigh’ (she/her): Est. 1849, born 1992. Currently 16 physically. [twin]
West Jordan UT. ‘Kinsley’ (she/her): Est. 1849, born 1992. Currently 16 physically. [twin]
Sandy UT. ‘Jayden’ (he/him): Est. 1871, born 1996. Currently 14 physically.
Orem UT. ‘Kayden’ (he/him): Est. 1919, born 2006. Currently 8 physically.
West Valley City UT. ‘Brayden’ (he/him): Est. 1980, born 2018. Currently 3 physically.
Ahmed. (he/him): Born 2003, adopted in 2007 at age 4. Currently 21.
General notes: yes she was 55 when she had Brayden deciding rn if I'm going to mess with the math more (mostly just make the age gaps with the last two smaller) or if I'll just leave it this way and use the miracle baby excuse.
personifications age 1 year for every 2 that pass until they're 'adults' (usually around 25 physically), this is why Ahmed is older despite being younger than the majority of his siblings. They could be angsty about it but instead he just uses it to tease his older siblings :p
I think they stopped trying for more after Jayden, and were in the process of adopting Ahmed when they found out Ilithyia was pregnant with Kayden and after 'much prayer and meditation' (<- freaking the fuck out for 20 business days) decided to adopt Ahmed anyway bc to heck with it.
Nah but like Kayden was a 'oh weren't expecting that but we're always happy to make our family bigger :)'; Brayden caused the panicking and tears, and "we can't have another baby, I shouldn't be able to have another baby!" bc it had been 12 years since Kayden was born, and 11 since they adopted Ahmed and suddenly here's another kid??? they love him so much but holy fuck bud u came out of nowhere.
I do actually have an essay typed up on Ilithyia, Ahmed and Zach specifically pertaining to how Ilithyia and Ahmed will grow old and die and the rest of the family wont. It's bullet points is
Ilithyia considers herself privileged and chosen in someway to be Utah's wife and the mother of cities. she thinks that God somehow hand picked her for the job, and she doesn't like that her husband and children aren't 'normal' all the time, but this is what gets her through it. Then God gave her Ahmed so she would be able to watch one of her children grow and have a normal life.
Ahmed always thinking he was just different because he was adopted, then in his mid-teens processing fully that that's not the entire reason. Dude randomly remembered that time he got it explained to him that his dad and siblings are semi-immortal beings the represent pieces of land, their governments, and their people 🤯
uhh angst about Zach leaving the church, there were a lot of reasons he left but the straw on the camels back was absolutely in relation to the fact that Ilithyia and Ahmed would die long before he would and he'd have to live without them. The snapping point was an argument he got into with Ilithyia where he asked her "if you're actually chosen, like you say you are, why is God letting you die?" and when Ilithyia didn't have an answer (and even if she had he had already made up his mind on the matter) he decided he was done.
but i'm not posting the essay unless someone wants it bc it is LONG and pretty angsty lmao

@mcyt-yuri-week day 7: free day
Didn't know what to put here and I ended up making a swap au.
Hear we have Lady Gem, Guardian of the Overgrown, and the Wizard Katherine from the Crystal Cliffs.
Headcanons and ramblings under the cut:
Okay, I gotta be honest. I actually hate this trope in AU making. What do I mean by this? I hate AUs that's centered around shipping, even though I'm also guilty of this. And I'm always very particular when it comes to swap AUs.
But, this swap led me to swap the others and the idea of fWhip being the ruler of Rivendell was already funny to me. I have many ideas for this AU, especially since I have a lot of headcanons on world building from the OG version.
So let's start with,
Gem
Gem here is still twins with fWhip. Both of them are instead from the royal family of Rivendell with their mother being a fairy coming from the Overgrown.
Them being fraternal twins, one was more elven and the other was fae.
Originally, Gem was gonna inherit the throne of Rivendell. But, at age 14 when the council from the Overgrown were to choose their next guardian, the Spring chose her.
This led to a change on their father's line of succession and now fWhip was next in line.
This led to the two of them being educated separately for the rest of their teen years as future rulers.
As the Guardian of the Overgrown, Gem does her best to keep the nation free from conflict. Especially while being sandwiched by two nations of the Wither Rose Alliance.
Katherine
The Crystal Cliffs, a nation that was formerly autonomous to the Grimlands was the nation that Katherine was born and raised in.
She lived an average life being one of its citizen, yet a student of flora magic in the most prestigious academy in the nation.
But by age 16 she was approached by Gandalf, the immortal cat as the next Head Wizard. This surprised her but gave her a sense of responsibility for being chosen.
However, being the ruler of the Crystal Cliffs is not an easy task. Katherine tries everything in her power to avoid war for her people. But the nation being part of the notorious Wither Rose Alliance, proves this to be difficult.
So how did they got together?
A part of me wants it to happen earlier compared to the OG version where they got together after Gem got cured from corruption.
In this AU, they got together while they were looking for a cure for the corruption mid-Xornot arc.

OUGH i LIVE your abo stancest stuff….. esp your way of doing the anatomy regarding it?????? would you perhaps like to share more about that?:3
-🟢
OKAY SO--
Anatomy is pretty much standard for the first 13 years, human stuff. Then 14-15 it's typical for different behaviors to start appearing alongside body types to go with those behaviors. Actual changes to bodies depending on your future secondary gender is a myth, but increased oxytocin or adrenaline in a teenage hormone soup can affect behavior which affects body type. Not always, though, especially with Stan and Ford who are identical twins. 16 is the danger zone when presentation actually happens, which makes alphas and omegas both more sensitive to smells and depending on the social climate usually pushes them into a stereotype. The chemical soup doesn't calm down fully until you're like 30, the goal is to have settled down by then because estrous cycles start decreasing to like once a year instead of once a month (Stan would lie about being in his thirties to try to get jobs because young omegas and alphas both were considered unreliable and animalistic). 16 is also when knots and cervix-like tissue develop so there's just vague itchiness and discomfort, it's not fun but no one talks about it in the late 60s-early 70s so the boys just don't mention it. Also BITE MARKS AREN'T PERMANENT they last like a few weeks max they last as long as the wound does, Ford is dedicated to chomping on his brother frequently to keep it up.
ONTO THE GENITALS SITUATION WHICH IM GUESSJNG WAS THE POINT OF THE ASK SORRY FOR THE RANT--
Okay first off afab and amab have different operations for their secondary genders, knots are Just an amab thing, afab alphas have internal testicals and. I mean this in the kindest way they kind of fuck like birds. Still got the same rutting chemical soup but different How. Afab alphas can get pregnant but it's difficult and painful, they need the right setting to ovate and pregnancies are high risk.
Amab on the other hand is more classic a/b/o, they all get to keep their dicks, knot at the base of a penis, cervix tissue in the rectum creating discharge, bla bla bla, anyways you know that line on the taint? In omegas that is a pseudo-vulva. Kinda like how everyone has nipples, everyone's got that line, but omegas are born with it attached to the faintest hint of a uterus that develops attached to both that and the rectum. If a male omega gets pregnant (and that's a big if, it's dangerous for male omegas to get pregnant but they're expected to anyways because "if not then what are they for?") that line develops into a full vulva along with breasts developing, because despite my bird sex comment earlier it would be very dangerous for us to have fewer holes. Very strenuous, a lot can go wrong, should not be expected, but it is. Most postpartum amab omegas have both for about a year before the pseudo-vulva shrinks to its original size and the milk dries up. Male omegas can train to fit small things in their pseudo-vulva not postpartum but its kinda painful and with much fewer nerves than an actual vagina so pretty niche.
#stancest#Should I make a poll for who knocks up who between those silly little stans#Sorry if this was a textbook I think imaginary biology is kinda nifty#a/b/o dynamics#Asks

Single Mom AU pt. 4 ( 1 2 3 )
Chilchuck's Timeline
Age 5: Met her future wife, Faydan, at school. This was well before Faydan realized she was a trans woman, and at the time both Chil and Fay were ostracized from their peers for being too gnc, as Chil was a tomboy and Fay was a very fem “boy”. The two quickly became very close friends.
Age 8: Faydan comes out and begins her transition. Chil helps her pick out the name Faydan (she briefly considered Meijack and Flertom, but ultimately decided against it even though Chil loved those names.)
Age 10: Chil realizes she's gay… in large part because of her developing a crush on Fay as she transitions.
Age 12: Chil begins an apprenticeship with a locksmith. Fay begins fantasy HRT
Age 12 cont.: Chil and Fay begin dating on Fay's 13th birthday
Age 13: A critical misunderstanding of how Fantasy HRT works leads to Chil getting pregnant with the twins. After a long and difficult time weighing their options, Chil and Fay decide to make it work and get married. Chil attempts to hide her pregnancy for as long as possible as she was scared of losing her apprenticeship. When she cant hide it she begs to be allowed to continue, but is kicked out.
Age 13 cont.: Mei and Fler are born, and while she is ecstatic about the births of her daughters, she begins to spend every moment not dedicated to her daughters dedicated to studying and teaching herself about locks and traps. This leads to the first spat of her marriage as Fay feels Chil is focusing too much on her career instead of their new family. Chil argues they have two new mouths to feed and Fay's job as a seamstress isn't bringing in enough.
Age 14: Gets a new apprenticeship in Kahka Brud, this one paid. So the family moves from their hometown.
Age 15: Discovers this apprenticeship supports maternity leave so Chil and Fay decide to have one more child. However, after Puckpatti Chil gets her tubes tied.
Age 16: First trip into the dungeon, discovers she was going to be used as bait and fed to monsters and flees. Returns home horrified. This leads to the first major fight in their marriage as Fay wants Chil to find a safer job for the sake of their kids, but Chil wants to make this job better for other half-foots.
Age 16 cont.: Agrees to take a break from going into dungeons, and instead focuses on trying to make dungeon diving more safe and fair for half-foots while continuing to study locks and traps.
Age 18: Gets antsy and begins to dungeon dive again, much to Fay’s disdain.
Age 20: Fay and Chil have another big fight about Chil's work, specifically how she's gone for weeks or months at a time and comes back thinner, injured, and then refuses to talk about it in any meaningful way. Also while she focuses on ensuring she's a good mother while home, she doesn't really spend any time focusing on being a good partner to Fay. Chil feels bad and agrees to try to be better.
Age 24: Chil begins working on the island and meets Dandan who helps her form the half-foot guild, meaning she's spending even more time away from home. As a last ditch effort to save their marriage Faydan insists the family moves to the island too. Chil reluctantly agrees as she enjoys the physical distance separating her work and home. But ultimately she does enjoy getting to see her wife and kids more often.
Age 25: The fateful dinner with Chil's party at the time happens. This breaks Fay and she leaves. As their kids are 12 at the oldest, she takes the kids with her, much to Chil's dismay. However, she does leave Chil a note saying that while she's leaving her, she can visit their kids at their old home in Kahka Brud if she wants.
Age 25 cont.: She is DEVASTATED by her wife leaving her, and doesn't understand why she left her, even though it was because she wasn't feeling valued as Chil's wife and was sick and tired of constantly worrying about her.
Age 26: Meets Laia and joins the Touden party.
Age 26 cont.: Finds Laia weeping over a letter from Lind and goes to comfort her. When she learns that Laia’s crying because she misses her daughter and feels guilty for not being able to be with her due to work, Chil mentions she understands because she's in a similar situation with her daughters. Mentions little else and tells Laia not to tell anyone else that Chil even has kids.
Age 28: Gets a surprise visit from all three daughters who are clearly distressed. While she has been visiting them and writing to them, this is the first time they've all come together to visit him. They tell her that after Puckpatti got her first job selling dragon dung, Fay disappeared and none of them have heard from her in over a week. Being blindsided by the emotional distress of her ex-wife (who she's still low-key in love with) disappearing and her daughters being panicked, she handles it the same way she always does, which is by not handling it and instead focusing on work. So she promises her daughters that she will completely financially support them while they look for their mom so they can put all their energy into that. She also makes an effort to contact her kids as much as possible.
Age 28/29: Plot Starts. She agrees to go help Laia save Fanil because she needs the money they paid her in advance for her daughters (and not at all because she cares about Laia, Marcel, and Fanil…) though she writes them in advance explaining what she's doing with some extra money and the key to her house quickly before they return.*

The Road To Hell Yoshi is short and kinda scrawny until he's about 16.
He and his twin were born early. Saki was the dominant twin, so Yoshi was extra small and there were a good few weeks after his birth were no one was sure if he was going to make it.
Because of that + being a rat mutant, his lungs weren't very good and he got sick a lot as a little kid. There'd be periods where he couldn't hold any food down, followed by him becoming a living garbage disposal, but he never seemed to put weight on. Leo taught him the pressure point technique because he thought something that could take enemies down quickly would work better for Yoshi than other katas.
Even after Yoshi's health improved, he still gets sick more often than his sisters, and Mikey makes sure the Lair is always stocked with soup just in case Yoshi suddenly comes down with something.
When Yoshi was about 10 the bouts of sickness became infrequent, but about once a year he'd get knocked on his ass by something. The bright side was he'd recover a lot quicker, so something that would have once left him exhausted for a week instead had him laying in bed for a couple days at most.
By the time he's 14, he's still short for his age and skinny, and the Turtles were all prepared for him to stay that way.
...
And then Yoshi reached 16 and started having the mother of all growth spurts, followed by several more massive growth spurts. He goes being about as tall as Leo's shoulder, to being a head taller than Donnie in the space of a year.
The Turtles reaction during this process is some mix of "Our boy is growing up" and looking at Mikey like "What was in that Soup!?"
Casey finds this funny until the day he realises he's eye level with Yoshi.
June, who is suddenly facing down the prospect of being the oldest shortest sibling is not pleased. For the first few months, Mayday would shapeshift to be an inch taller than Yoshi, which he did not notice because he's used to being shorter than her

you're right, say it louder for the people in the back!
"hotd is a thought experiment on how victimisation leads to forgiveness and how guillible audience is. Why do you think they made alicent 14! When Main Child Brides Of The Story Were Rhaenyra! and Helaena! Helaena was 14!"
Helaena was done so bad, they made her a "dreamer" let's be honest she's more a patch face than a dreamer, she knows the future(doesn't know it as per phia but has a sense) but can't communicate when dreamers know exact or even if vague a very correct sequence of events, from daenys to danaerys
Her part in the story comes from the fact she's a bystander who has severe ptsd, and trauma. First she gives birth to two twins! At 14! And she's said to be born to be a mother? Like what? It's obviously them saying she's smily and happy but no one is a good mom that age, she shouldn't even have been married that early, 16 would have been the correct age but alicent made her marry earlier. People only marry early when there a political urgency like sansa had to be taken care of to bring stark inheritance under her
She probably married them fast because people would bring up the proposal nyra made which was hands down the best proposal for alicent and her family but she turned it down.
and then after spending half her life as a mother she watches her child get murdered, other kids taken away, one murdered away from her, like that's a lot, instead they shoe horn in this quirky characterisation. When they should have put in her bug collection hobby but not make her being a dreamer.
The thing is with the way aemond is in show, he seems to be more patient than his book counter, if she had even hinted about the eye he'd be more inclined to believe her so they made her a patch face except for the eye thing which was phrased exactly! It's all a mess.

The Summary of the Gijou Siblings' Backstory
TW: Mentions of death, mentions of abuse, running away from home, gender identity stuff
May contain grammar mistakes, apologies in advance
Read it UTC
GENERAL BACKSTORY
Their mother was a prima ballerina and their father was a merchant. They were a very fancy couple and were quite caring to their children. Before Klement was born, the mother lost the ability to dance due to health issues and so she decided to teach Klement how to dance so it would be continued into the next generation. Everything was going well... Until Klement turned 14 and the twins (Kles and Akos) 16. Their mother got caught in a car crush where she passed away. After that, their father started drinking and turned abusive towards Klement because he looks the most like his mother and because he dances like her. Kiriakos ran away from home when he found out the mother died (he could see the family falling apart long before and felt trapped there so he hid all his pocket money and ran away from home and then bought a horse named Agrippa whom he still travels with). Damokles wanted to help Klement but he felt too weak due to their father never truly showing any pride in him, due to him not being masculine enough.
KLEMENT Some years passed and Klement began to attend a dance academy, where he met Yp. They started dating. It seemed good but after their graduation, Klement had already accidentally bought the circus. And he also found out that Yp didn't want to be a dancer but found herself in baking. So they broke up, but stayed friends. Klements feelings for Yp remained until he got his dance studio at 41-ish. Yp moved on quickly, even getting a wife (Gréta) and a daughter (Annabelle). Klement's circus focused on acrobatics. It had only two employees, excluding Klement. it was in a horrible state and barely made any money despite everyone there being talented. After many years of turmoil with it, Klement let all the employees go and sold the circus. He then moved to Bustelter, where his best friend lived and bought a dance studio there and now he teaches dance!
DAMOKLES
Damokles or Kles by his friends and family and Kleio by his fans became the most famous fashion designer in the world. His designs are often known for showing skin while not being extra sexual. They're comfortable while being fancy enough to make a person look put together. Damokles has always struggled with his self-image, often not feeling like enough and his father's words were not helping him cure. However, Kles was always the assertive type. So when the father was organising a dance event, Damokles came in wearing a gown instead of the tuxedo father picked out for him. This was Kles' way of showing his true self, who can wear anything without losing his identity. It was also the moment he announced his plans for the future. After that he moved to an apartment in Montever and opened a boutique. After just a few years, he became a popular fashion designer. But one day, he suddenly noticed a gray hair between all the blond ones (the Gijou siblings are all blond) and that led to him deciding that he needs an heir and also his own family. So he adopted a baby named Sorin. Sorin has become his priority since then.
KIRIAKOS
Kiriakos (or Akos) ran away from home at 16. He was always an observant child, preferring to stay in the background and watch, rather than taking the initiative. Due to this, he did not know how to ask for attention when he wanted it. This led to his parents and siblings (though Kles to a lesser degree) often ignoring him. He also noticed a tension between his brothers and parents over the years. So he stole their mother's necklace to have some memory of his home and left. He bought a horse named Agrippa at a stable where he met Lawrence who was buying a horse there as well. The two began to talk and found out they're both planning to travel on horseback and their horses (Lawrence's is called Florian) had the same mother. They bonded over it and have been sending each other letters ever since. Thanks to these letters Akos learned about reveism, a religion that focuses on song (though only the temple workers can sing) and inner peace. Akos felt inspired by it, so he began to partake in it. He learnt the language of Xivi (reveism comes from there) and even the fact that he had his mothers necklace fit into how the religion works (when a child turns 10, their mother or father gives them something they got from one of their parents. odd-number-borns get gifts from their mothers and even-number-borns from their fathers. there can ofc be exceptions). Akos has stopped talking to his family, though sometimes he receives gifts from Damokles who always seems to find him. His most beloved (though he will never admit it) gift is the poncho he always wears. On his journey Akos has also met the archeologist Ilario and the ghost of the Xivi prince Ajax. Through them, he learned that he is the reincarnation of Ajax's brother, king Xerxa. He has since then begun to write letters to Ajax as well, finding him a delight to talk to. Akos' journey has no real goal, but he does not really care for that. He's truly happy while traveling.

Ethan Reed
last pic art by my gf
this post is a work in progress
Short Bio
age(s): 14/15 at the start of the canon story, > 18 as illustrated above (finale of the canon story), the older twin
gender: male
sexuality: straight-questioning (the entire canon story), bisexual (alternate universe)
class: human, vampire hunter
birthday: 20 November (2008) (year is tentative, it was the year he was created/written)
parents: Lithium Everlastine (vampire), Jillian Reed (human)
height: 175~185cm (age 15~18), 190cm (age 25)
Early Years
parents and the "curse"
Ethan Reed was born in the Everlastine-Reed household.
Lithium and Jillian fell in love and ran away. Lithium was one of the highest rank vampires while Jillian was an opera singer who came from vampire hunters family. They settled somewhere in the north and made a small family of four - them and their twin children, Ethan and Evan.
At first, they were just a normal nuclear family (save for the fact that their family consisted of two races and the couple bought a rather secluded house and never interacted much with their neighbors hundred meters away). That changed when someone from Lithium's family found them. With some struggles, they managed to negotiate that Lithium were to leave his wife in exchange of his wife's safety. If Lithium came back to the Everlastine family, his family were to never touch the Reeds and his small family.
Granted, Lithium planned to go back to his family. Lithium promised Jillian he would come back after he settled everything in his part, in return Jillian promised she would take care of the twins.
For their safety, Lithium sealed Evan within Ethan's body, so that Jillian would appear to be a normal widow with a normal human child. This was meant to be temporary as Lithium thought he could come back to his wife and kids. Though, magic/mana within Evan is attracted to the full moon. Every full moon, Evan's natural mana grows stronger than his seal container's, Ethan. This causes Evan to be able to take over Ethan's body - or rather, reverse the situation and instead seal Ethan within him.
Being too young, Ethan gradually had forgotten that he had a twin brother. Jillian let this happen because it (supposed to) made the situation easier and it collided with Lithium's plan. On the other hand, Evan had to know everything, so since he was a kid he had been tasked to pretend to be Ethan and no one must know he even existed.
However, Lithium wasn't the only one who planned to break their promise. Lithium's close sibling was tasked by the Elders of Everlastine to kill Jillian. Jillian was killed in front of Ethan, driving Ethan to harbor great hatred toward vampires. It took weeks (months?) for Jillian's closest sibling to find out and years for Lithium.
The only one left who knew about the seal was Evan (and Lithium who was absent for roughly a decade). Ethan, never finding out about the seal, lived until the age of 16/17 thinking he was a half-vampire. He always thought he was cursed, living as a half-human, half-something that he hated deeply.
Reed family
Ethan went by the name Ethan Reed, the name he was registered as at school when Jillian was still alive. His uncle, Zabbath Reed (I genuinely don't remember well about him tbh aaaaaaaaaa I'm gonna find another name for him lmao), Jillian's closest brother, adopted him and took him into his house, where he then lived with his cousins, Rhabtoth and Regina Reed.
Outside of these three people, he wasn't well-liked among his mother's family, as they are the family of vampire hunters (and the fact that humans naturally hate vampires).
On full moon nights, Zabbath, Rhabtoth, and Regina worked together to contain Ethan and hide Evan's existence from the whole world. Evan roamed during his out time, yet the world managed to never finding out about this (save for some people).
Self and Personality
Generally, he was a calm guy with reserved nature.
Major self-hatred and depression
Until the middle of the canon story, he believed he was a half-vampire. This caused great inner turmoil and he suffered depression in the big chunk of the story.
"People Pleaser"
Generally, he tended to not care too much about what people think of him. Yet, there was a great desire to be wanted and useful due to his status as a "halfling" living in human society.
In addition, his uncle received a lot of hate from his mother's big family due to adopting him who is a "halfling", and it also complicated his uncle's relationship with his wife that was already strained prior the adoption. This made Ethan wanted to be anything but a burden, driven him to take care of the house and do splendid job at trainings and works related to vampire-hunting.
This tendency went on even as he reached adulthood.

I sent that post about Greenies crying about Alicent being a child bride/maritally raped/sexually assaulted.
I don’t understand how the point of my ask went completely over the head of darkblackgalaxy but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised at this point with Greens nonsensical defences. My point was that Alicent made Helaena a child bride - key word being child bride. Alicent very well could have just betrothed Helaena to Aegon and waited till she was older for them to marry but she doesn’t. Instead she subjects Helaena, her only daughter, to the same abuse Greens constantly cry about Alicent suffering.
Also, if Greens are going to cry about ‘Rhaneyra wasn’t any better for trying to marry her off to Jace’ (I’m basing this purely off of the show). Rhaenyra proposes a betrothed but proves she likely would’ve waited instead of marrying them as quickly as Alicent did Helaena/Aegon. Between the time that passes in Rhaneyra’s return to King’s Landing and the final episode Jace/Baela and Luke/Rhaena are still betrothed and not married. I can’t claim to know the book very well but it seems she didn’t try to marry them hastily in that either.
So, yeah, Rhaenyra is better than Alicent.
Anon refers to this POST.
Yeah, in the book/canon lore they were betrothed long before the Dance and never married. They were still betrothed when the two boys died.
Rhaenyra announced their betrothal in 118 A.C. while Baela/Rhaena (twins) were born 116 and Jacaerys was born in 114. Lucerys was born 115.
(Jace died when he was 15-16. Luke died when he was 14....just saying.)

SJM's pinterest board. ACOTAR 6/7.
(No conclusion just suspicious stuff lmao)
Here's a photo i found on SJM's ACOTAR pinterest board:

THE MOIRAI (Moirae) were the three goddesses of fate who personified the inescapable destiny of man (and women). The role of the Moirai was to ensure that every being, mortal and divine, lived out their destiny as it was assigned to them by the laws of the universe.
In nearly all mythologies the three Fates, rulers of the past, present and future, are represented and many believe they symbolize the Triple Goddess, Virgin, Mother and Crone (Creator, Preserver and Destroyer).
In Greek mythology, the Moiraioften known in English as the Fates—were the white-robed incarnations of destiny.
“There were at least three dozen priestesses who worked and researched and healed here, though it was nearly impossible to count them when they all wore the same pale robes and so many kept the hoods over their faces.”
Clotho (/ˈkloʊθoʊ/, Greek Κλωθώ, [klɔːtʰɔ̌ː], "spinner") spun the thread of life from her distaff onto her spindle.
(Clotho: the mute priestess at the library)
Lachesis (/ˈlækɪsɪs/, Greek Λάχεσις, [lákʰesis], "allotter" or drawer of lots) measured the thread of life allotted to each person with her measuring rod.
Atropos (/ˈætrəpɒs/, Greek Ἄτροπος, [átropos], "inexorable" or "inevitable", literally "unturning",[13] sometimes called Aisa) was the cutter of the thread of life. She chose the manner of each person's death; and when their time was come, she cut their life-thread with "her abhorred shears". The figure who came to be known as Atropos had her origins in the pre-Greek Mycenaean religion as a daemon or spirit called Aisa. Another important Mycenaean philosophy stressed the subjugation of all events or actions to destiny and the acceptance of the inevitability of the natural order of things; today this is known as fatalism.
The Morrígan or Mórrígan, also known as Morrígu, is a figure from Irish mythology. The name is Mór-Ríoghain in Modern Irish, and it has been translated as "great queen" or "phantom queen".
The Morrígan is mainly associated with war and fate, especially with foretelling doom, death or victory in battle. In this role she often appears as a crow, the badb.[1] She incites warriors to battle and can help bring about victory over their enemies. The Morrígan encourages warriors to do brave deeds, strikes fear into their enemies, and is portrayed washing the bloodstained clothes of those fated to die.[2][3] She is most frequently seen as a goddess of battle and war and has also been seen as a manifestation of the earth- and sovereignty-goddess,[4][5] chiefly representing the goddess's role as guardian of the territory and its people.[6][7]
Mor may derive from an Indo-European root connoting terror, monstrousness cognate with the Old English maere (which survives in the modern English word "nightmare") and the Scandinavian mara and the Old East Slavic "mara" ("nightmare");[14] while rígan translates as "queen".[15][16] This etymological sequence can be reconstructed in the Proto-Celtic language as *Moro-rīganī-s.[17][18] Accordingly, Morrígan is often translated as "Phantom Queen".[16] This is the derivation generally favoured in current scholarship.[19]
The Morrígan is often considered a triple goddess, but this triple nature is ambiguous and inconsistent. The triple appearances are partially due to the Celtic significance of threeness.
(Three is a VERY common number in acotar (might make a whole other post on that))
Could Mor be one of the fates or even something more powerful than them, could she have a bigger part than we thought in the next story with Koschei ?
In the Republic of Plato, the three Moirai sing in unison with the music of the Seirenes. The term "siren song" refers to an appeal that is hard to resist but that, if heeded, will lead to a bad conclusion.
In Greek mythology, the Sirens (Ancient Greek: plural: Seirênes) were dangerous creatures, who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and singing voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. It is also said that they can even charm the winds.
i bet your thinking where tf is this looney going with this....well,
i also found this photo:
Celtic Mythology The GWRAGEDD ANNWN [wives of the underworld]were lake-sirens in Wales. These lovely creatures are known to choose mortal men as their husbands. One legend has it that they live in a sunken city in one of the many lakes in Wales. People claim to have seen towers under water and heard the chiming of bells. In earlier times, there used to be a door in a rock and those who dared enter through it came into a beautiful garden situated on an island in the middle of a lake. In this garden there were luscious fruits, beautiful flowers and the loveliest music, besides many other wonders. Those brave enough to enter were welcomed by the Gwragedd Annwn and were invited to stay as long as they wanted, on the condition that they never took anything back from the garden. One visitor ignored the rule and took a flower home with him. As soon as he left the island, the flower disappeared and he fell unconscious to the ground. From that day on, the door has been firmly closed and none has ever passed through it again.
“My grandmother was a river-nymph who seduced a High Fae male from the Autumn Court.”
Gwyn believes her grandmother to be a river-nymph. Is it possible that she was not but instead a lake siren? We know that Gwyn and Catrin's names are welsh (Lake-Sirens are found in wales) and the spring court has many ties to welsh mythology so is it really that far fetched?

In Celtic and Norse mythology, selkies (also spelled silkies, sylkies, selchies) or selkie folk (Scots: selkie fowk) meaning "seal folk"[a] are mythological beings capable of therianthropy, changing from seal to human form by shedding their skin. They are found in folktales and mythology originating from the Northern Isles of Scotland.
To further back up this, here is another photo of a Selkie woman on SJM's pinterest.

In David Thomson's book The People of the Sea, which chronicles the extensive legends surrounding the Grey Seal within the folklore of rural Scottish and Irish communities, it is the children of male selkies and human women that have webbed toes and fingers. When the webbing is cut, a rough and rigid growth takes its place.
Children born between man and seal-folk may have webbed hands, as in the case of the Shetland mermaid whose children had "a sort of web between their fingers",[25] or "Ursilla" rumoured to have children sired by a male selkie, such that the children had to have the webbing between their fingers and toes made of horny material clipped away intermittently.
“My twin had the webbed fingers of the nymphs—I don’t.”
Once again we see that Catrin posses traits of these water-creatures.
Keep in mind SJM has this on her board - The cover of Celtic folktales which has one story in particular of a 'sea-maiden' whom makes a deal with a mortal man.
I proceeded to continue searching through the board and found this:

Sathariel (Hebrew סתריאל, Greek: Σαθιήλ) is one of the Qliphoth, corresponding to the Sephirah Binah on the kabbalistic Tree of life. It represents the Concealment of God, which hides the face of Mercy. The form of the demons attached to this Qliphah are of black veiled heads with horns, with hideous eyes seen through the veil, followed by evil centaurs.
'veiled heads with horns'
The Qliphoth are the shadow of the Sephirot, the chaotic force that exists when the Sephirah is unbalanced. Binah is the Sephirah that gives birth to form, the great mother of the cosmos, the eternal womb. Through her, the spiritual energy of Keter and Chokmah are woven into the matrix that eventually becomes matter.
In Jewish Kabbalistic cosmology of Isaac Luria, the qlippot are metaphorical "shells" surrounding holiness. They are spiritual obstacles receiving their existence from God only in an external, rather than internal manner.
Quiphoth (shadow of sephriot) = Shadowsinger
"shells" surrounding holiness = The shadows protected Azriel
They emerge in the descending seder hishtalshelus (Chain of Being) through Tzimtzum (contraction of the Divine Ohr), as part of the purpose of Creation.
Sathariel had black feathers on his wings and his body was shrouded in darkness.

Honestly idk where tf im going with this 😩😩
I've put in far too much effort to delete it so i apologise if you've gotten all this way to be disappointed but
Conclusion:
Mor =/≠ Three fates
Gwyn = Heritage is sus? could be related to some interesting people
Azriel = Sathariel ?
If anyone has ideas to add pleaseeee tell me lol
i'll probably update this when i can be bothered
(FYI i love Gwyn and i'm not saying she's a siren or luring anyone but you've got to admit her grandmother is a sus lmao, especially with half the shit on SJM's pinterest.)

Personal ranking of Evermore

I have insomnia so imma rank every Evermore song, this is probably not the best platform for this sort of thing but idk how to use reddit.
17. Gold rush Starting off pretty controversial, but I do like this song. Even though Evermore is not my favourite TS album (Folklore just clinches it) it is the only TS album where I actually like my least favourite song from the album, Evermore is undoubtably a consistently brilliant album.
16. It's time to go This song has some brilliant lyrics "When the words of a sister come back in whispers. That prove she was not in fact what she seemed. Not a twin from your dreams. She's a crook who was caught" astounding as always, yet I think this song having a different subject every verse weakens it a bit, and yet the song probably wouldn't work any other way so it's strength is it's weakness.
15. Closure This is a song I have mixed feelings about as I feel it had a lot of potential but it is messy. Of course I know it is meant to be messy and it in fact it makes thematical sense for it to be messy but that doesn't mean that I like the way it sounds.
14. Evermore Not a lot to say about this one it is good without being brilliant, its melancholy vibes with a slice of regret, certainly fit the theme of the album in its entirety, making it an appropriate title track.
13. Long story short This song has grown on me a lot since first listening, it certainly encapsulates Swift's career in some ways, it just doesn't captivate me like some of the other songs on this album.
12. Tis the damn season Objectively a very good song and its good to see Swift's story telling skills in action but it doesn't quite capture my imagination as much as the folklore trilogy.
11. No body, no crime This song is amazing when hearing it for the first time, and almost a unique listening experience. The verses and chorus flow together in a great way to tell a story. Its just doesn't quite hold up on the re-listens.
10. Tolerate it Although a completely different type of song to, no body, no crime, for me, tolerate it, suffers from the same problem, it is just not as amazing after a few times listening. Although it beats it on the list for its undoubtedly raw and heart breaking lyrics.
9. Coney island It's weird, because if I was trying to be completely objective, I would say that a lot of the songs above are better then Coney Island, but seen as I'm not being objective and this is just my opinion, Coney island ends up in my top 10 because I love it, I love how it sounds, I love how it makes me feel nostalgic for Coney island, despite never setting foot there, and how it makes me feel nostalgic for the mall before the internet, despite coming from a country where they are rather less romantically referred to as shopping centres and that I can barely remember a time before the internet as I was born in 98.
8. Dorothea It doesn't take a genius to work out that this is the male love interest perspective of, Tis the damn season, and although as I said before they suffer in comparison to the folklore trilogy, I do still appreciate this particular brand of storytelling in an album. Although I must admit sometimes I ignore the connection to, Tis the damn season, and instead like to imagine it is a song about female friendship, which is nice as there are not enough songs about that.
7. Happiness A beautiful, mature and reflective song, the fact that this isn't in my top 5, illustrates what an amazing album this is. Happiness, reminds me of the Fearless vault song, We were happy, another track which I am fond of.
6. Willow When I first heard this song, I of course liked it, but it was hardly one of the highlights of the album. But the more I listen to it the more I Iike it, and it has worked it's way up to number 6. It is subtle, yet brilliant, perfect for an opening track.
5. Ivy Pure poetry, nuff said, like seriously give this gal a man booker prize or some shit.
4. Cowboy like me at this point it is getting difficult to express my love for these songs so I'll let Gaga do this one for me.
3. Right where you left me Miss Havisham move out the way the girl from, Right where you left me, is the now the most iconic spurned woman who can't move on. Seriously what is Swift's obsession with making absolute bangers bonus tracks (No wonder the vault tracks are so amazing) Is it just me or is Taytay slightly leaning into her old country voice in this one, for no justifiable or thematical reason (not that I'm complaining, I love it!)
2. Marjorie It was so hard not to put this one at the top spot, one of Swift's most underrated songs of all time imo, and also just one of the best songs about grieving I've ever heard "Should've kept every grocery store receipt, because every scrap of you would be taken from me" like a punch in the face every time but beautiful.
1 Champagne problems Absolutely iconic, easily in my top 10 Taylor Swift songs of all time, it's hard to put into words why I love this song, because it really speaks for itself.
#taylor swift#taylornation#evermore#champagne problems#majorie#right where you left me#cowboy like me#ivy#willow#happiness#dorathea#coney island#tolerate it#no body no crime#tis the damn season#long story short#closure#its time to go#gold rush#music#albums
