how to: responsive coding
my last couple skins (parkside ave & this is gospel) have both changed based on the screen size with some design changes and people have asked how i go about doing that so this is how!
an important step for me when doing this is using the right click + inspect > toggle emulation menu on chrome. it’s also available on firefox and safari. what what’s going to do is allow you to look at your codes on different screen sizes without having a screen of that size. there’s a list of popular sizes (including various phone screens + tablets) and a responsive option where you can literally click and drag to make the view wider/shorter. this is super helpful when trying to figure out at what point the code should change and what needs to be reworked or hidden.
minimum and maximum widths
first and foremost, when you work with responsive coding, you have to know that it is not going to look the same on every screen. that’s the whole point of responsive coding! there is, however, a point on both sides of the spectrum when things are either too tiny on a small screen and spill over and/or they’re just too stretched out for those with particularly large monitors.
this is where minimum and maximum widths come in!
figuring out what works best for what you’re working on is super helpful using that screen emulator. just click + drag until things are too small and then ta-da, your minimum should be no less than that. do the same for maximum width as well. this is helpful for flex containers.
for example, my parkside ave skin’s menu began to look very condensed at 801px and i no longer think that’s useable as in.
as such, the min-width for this skin is 850px. anyone on a smaller screen will have to scroll horizontally, but it beats the menu being unusable. some of this is personal preference and common sense but this helps you figure it out.
what would that look like in the css? say that you want the skin wrapper to be 80% of the screen with a minimum width of 850px and you’ve decided it shouldn’t be wider than 1600px because then everything looks too far apart. it would look like:
width: 80%; min-width: 850px; max-width: 1600px;
you’re telling the css “hey i want it to be 80% of the screen, but just between these numbers. if 80% is less than 850px, keep it 850px. if it’s more than 1600px, keep it at 1600px.”
you can do the same thing with height, if that’s something your code wants/needs as well.
@media queries
the other big thing that i do with my responsive skins is use media queries! this declares different css based on screen size. for example, my skin this is gospel has a minimum and maximum width for the sidebar but on small screens, the wrapper overlaps it.
the way to solve this problem is to put the sidebar on top and to move it to the top left of the screen with positioning. right now, this is what the css looks like:
#sidebar { width: 30%; min-width: 380px; max-width: 600px; height: 100%; top: 0px; right: 0px; }
for screens smaller than 770px, where we first noticed the overlapping we want to change it to:
#sidebar { width: 100%; height: 50px; top: 0px; left: 0px; }
how do we do that? a media query. a media query basically tells the site “hey, i want to know what the screen width is, and if it’s smaller than a certain amount, i want to use a different set of css to style the same divs.” to declare it, we’re going to need to set up the media query like so:
@media only screen and (max-width: 770px) {
}
now the site knows to look to see what the width of the screen is. anything 770px and smaller will get the new css, and anything above 770px gets the original css.
all together, this is how the css looks:
@media only screen and (max-width: 770px) { #sidebar { width: 100%; height: 50px; top: 0px; left: 0px; }
}
and this is what the page itself will look like once i’m on a screen smaller than the max-width:
this can be used to hide entire divs (such as avatars too big to fit on the page, or a flex container that is still too big) or add new divs (a mobile-specific menu that has big buttons for touch screens instead of small, close together icons). the sky is the limit there! there will be times you will need to add !important to get the css to override but it’s a quick fix.
but that’s about it! that’s how i go about responsive coding, and hopefully it’s helpful for you all! it’s a lot of trial and error, but that screen emulator makes it about a thousand times easier.
if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out and i will try to help the best i can!

Aftermath: The Debriefing
A continuation of the consequences of this chapter
Read from the beginning here
“Hey! It’s Mingfei. Please leave a message, and I’ll get right back to you...”
Nono lowered the phone from her ear and hung up. She’d already left a message.
As soon as the plane had taken off from Japan, Caesar called her and told her that her newest recruit hadn’t survived her first mission. As soon as she got into the presence of the dragon egg, she’d turned servitor and they left her behind so they wouldn’t have to kill her.
Mingfei had to be forcibly dragged away from her. She wasn’t surprised. He was a lonely person, desperate for love and probably fell for her over the trip. He was probably heartbroken and needed time. He really was an unlucky guy.
She walked back into the principal’s office where Caesar and Johann were seated in front of his desk. “Still nothing.” She said. “Let’s just start without him.”
Anjou was leaning back in his chair, feet on the desk, puffing on a cigar. The blue holographic girl, EVA floated nearby, “Ready to record the debriefing.” She said.
“Caesar. Please begin.” Anjou nodded, his eyes fixed on a large globe.
“I will but first, I have to ask you to share your cigar.”
Anjou turned the wood box to Caesar who reached out and picked up one of the Cubans as well as a gold dragon shaped lighter and lit up. He took a long slow drag and let it out. Nono rested one hand on his shoulder. He leaned his head slightly toward it.
“This is the debriefing of team Caesar.” He began. “Upon arrival, things went as expected. The Japan division reps were polite but distant. They were led by Chisei Gen, who surprised me by already knowing about our new girl.”
“Did he say how he knew?” Anjou asked.
“No. Only that he’d heard about a powerful new student. I think it’s likely that some of our freshmen here are plants to keep an eye on us.”
“On her arrival here, she attracted a lot of attention...” Nono commented, recalling the group that had followed her from the limousine.
Caesar continued. ”They outfitted us in their traditional dress and escorted us from the airport. There was nothing out of the ordinary until our arrival at their headquarters when Masamune requested our assistance in eliminating the Devil Clan. He suspected they were behind the Dragon’s awakening.”
Caesar crossed his arms. “Masamune did not provide any proof of this accusation. The new recruit picked up on this actually... She said ‘if someone was waking up a dragon, they should be stopped’. If.” Caesar smiled at the memory. “She had good instincts.”
Anjou was silent, still not commenting. Nono glanced at Johann. He was relaxed his chair, not meeting anyone’s eyes and not speaking. To the casual observer, he seemed bored. Nono knew better. She wasn’t a mind reader, but she sensed a growing emotional disturbance coming from him, like a boiling under a lid, a low growl, rumbling just under the surface.
“They decided to divide us among the different clans. To keep her safe, I suggested that she go with Chisei Gen, the strongest hybrid in the group. I stuck with the Ryoma’s, Johann with Fuma, and Lu with Sakurai.” Caesar shook his head. “We all reported an unexpected number of servitors in this area. We took care of all of them, but it took longer than I would have liked. Had I known there were going to be so many, I might have insisted that the recruit stay back at the mansion. She wasn’t ready to see that kind of action... but...” He reached over and tapped the ashes into the silver tray. “It was, what it was.”
Johann’s eyes snapped over to Anjou. “She was deeply affected by it.”
Caesar’s cigar paused an inch from his lips. He sat, still as a statue. “Do not interrupt.”
Their eyes met for a few seconds before Johann relented, breaking the stand off to resume staring into space. Nono slowly let out the breath she’d been holding.
“She got injured. I was planning on asking how, but I didn’t get the chance...”
Anjou finally spoke. “What were the extent of her injuries?”
“Bruising around the neck, like she’d been strangled.”
Anjou’s gaze lowered. “I see. Continue.”
“We got into submarine. The mission seemed straight forward until we got that message from Schneider about the Greenland mission. Warning us about doors. I uh... realized the mission was dangerous but, that warning put things into perspective. So, I had everyone record their last messages.”
“Including the recruit?” Anjou asked.
“Uh huh.” Caesar ran his tongue over his lips.
Nono could feel the emotion rising from him when he lowered his eyes and shifted in his chair. “You know what was interesting? she seemed to accept the idea of possibly dying a lot more easily than the rest of us did. It bothered me. A lot. I had that feeling that her last words were directed at me. In particular.”
Nono reached down and slid her hand around the back of his neck, from shoulder to shoulder. This part he hadn’t told her.
“I got a really bad feeling. I told her to stay behind with Mingfei. But uh... we ran into a problem. Once we got to the site where the signal was coming from, there was no way into the tower. We considered blasting our way in. But that would have spent some of our munitions and potentially not have worked.”
“Turned out, the girl had a connection to the place that none of us realized. Even though it was dark, she could see. And she saw visions of dragons, that helped her solve the riddle to the first door. The second door required her to sing a certain song in draconic so we could get in. Johann helped her with that. She was the one who gave us access to the dragon egg.”
Anjou turned to Caesar, his eyes narrowing slightly. “Her Speaking Spirit?”
“Possibly.” Caesar took another drag, stretching his legs out, relaxing into Nono’s gentle massage. “From your look, I take it you didn’t know about this?”
“On her E3 exam, she did not write anything on the paper. We have no idea what her Speaking Spirit is.”
Johann took a slow deep breath, held it for a few seconds, and then let it out.
Anjou tapped out the ashes and rubbed his beard. “None of you saw what she saw?” Caesar and Johann both shook their heads. “Go on...”
“Finally, we reached the final destination. And yes, it was a door.” He shook his head. “I... was over confident. I thought she was fine. I let her go in. As soon as she got in there...” He raised the cigar to his lips but didn’t inhale, biting down on the tip. “There wasn’t anything we could do about it. Johann and I both understood that but uh... Lu flipped out.”
“I see.” Anjou replied.
The office descended into a somber silence. The pain in the room was like standing under a blazing sun. Nono endured it. Maybe if she hadn’t been so harsh in her last words to her recruit, she wouldn’t have taken so many risks.
“We had to drag him all the way back to the sub. All the way back to Chicago.” He reached over and snuffed out the cigar. “Don’t think he’ll be talking to us for a while.”
“And the embryo?”
“The signal disappeared. No sign of it. The corruption in the ocean subsided. Mission accomplished.” Caesar sighed, closing his eyes with a shrug. “I still got that damn kimono.”
Anjou looked over to Johann. “You have something to add?”
Johann’s voice was so soft, the AI had to increase the volume on her recording. “If you didn’t know she was key to the mission, why did you send her?”
Anjou leaned forward, elbows against his desk. He stared hard at Johann, thinking. For a moment there was no sound beyond the hum of the computers in the room. “There is an explanation. But I can’t give it to you.”
Johann’s expression shifted to disbelief.
“I know it’s hard to accept. I’m asking a lot of you. But on this case, I need you to trust me. And if you can’t trust me, trust her. Have faith that she found a way out.”
Johann’s shoulders sagged and he shook his head. “What are we basing this faith on?”
“The fact that she saw things that you did not.” Anjou glanced over. “EVA, have ‘Adams’ bring me her exam paper.”
The cat sized humanoid robot hovered away to retrieve it. “It appeared that she did not write anything on the E3. But perhaps she did and we simply could not perceive it.”
Nono looked up at Anjou, who was still massaging his beard. He was shockingly relaxed. Even though an S-ranked student was dead, he was more interested in her exam paper. He didn’t seem concerned at all.
Adams returned with the sealed black box. Anjou punched in a password on a keypad and it snapped unlocked. Inside was the blank paper collected at her E3.
Anjou stood up and placed it in front of Johann. “If you remember the words she used, could you speak them?”
The sharp spike in Johann’s emotional state! Nono’s eyes widened. The young man stood up and walked the few steps over to the desk.
The paper was not entirely blank. It was dotted with blotches where it had gotten wet and dried. She’d told him that on her E3 exam all she could do was cry. Those blotches were the marks of her tears.
All Johann could think about was how terrified she was the night of the raid. How traumatized she’d been afterwards. She wasn’t stupid. She knew the peril. He’d told her to trust them, to trust Anjou.
He didn’t tell her the name he’d picked out for her because he wasn’t sure if it would fit. The given name he’d considered, Meixiu, meant that someone was an iconic prodigy. Someone along the lines of Mozart or Da Vinci. As only the second S-ranked student he’d ever encountered, that fit her well enough on a surface level. But she was more than an S-ranked talent. More importantly, he didn’t want her to be defined by a talent that was unstable and could kill her.
When he looked at her, he also saw someone innocent. The family name Bai held a meaning of purity, light and innocence that embodied her. But it also had a secondary, less auspicious meaning: That of blankness and emptiness, something given free of charge. Like a white sheet of paper.
He thought he needed more time to find something more fitting. As it turned out, Bai Meixiu wasn’t as inappropriate as he’d imagined.
Johann laid his fingertips on the paper and slid it back toward the principal his eyes hidden by the curtain of his long hair.
“If... you’re so certain, that she’s alive...” Johann whispered, “Then... when she comes back from the dead, she can say the words herself.”
Nono stared incredulous as Johann turned on his heel and left the room, the slam of the door echoing in his wake.

So I keep telling myself I’m not gonna talk about this anymore but it’s late and I’m salty and I figure this would be a good learning opportunity for everyone anyway so whatever.
I keep seeing people commenting on how the Delpad Week prompt list getting stolen and vandalized doesn’t count as art theft because I guess technically I didn’t “draw” anything while making it. And I feel like this is coming down to people just not understanding the work that goes into graphic design? (I mean I assume some of it is just people wanting to make excuses for doing something horrible but w/e I had my panic attacks I’m over it.) So since we do live in an age where people still devalue graphic design and other computer-based art forms I thought would break down all of the steps that I took when designing the prompt list, as well as the icons and banners for Delpad Week.
(And as a quick disclaimer there were probably easier ways to do some of the things I’m gonna list but I am still learning and I had never really used Clip Studio Paint before. I am an amateur, be patient with me.)
Step One - Picking Fonts!
Now this one might have come down to me just being picky, but I had a pretty clear idea in my head of what I wanted the “logo” to look like so after opening Clip and determining that NONE of the default fonts came anywhere close to what I was looking for I went to dafont.com and spent like...god I want to say close to an hour browsing the free fonts until I found a 5-10 options I liked.
I then had to extract and install all of the files onto my pc and make sure they worked, which is easy, but still took time.
Then I typed out what I wanted the logo to say using all of the different fonts to see what they looked like and what they looked like next to each other. See it’s a good idea to compliment fancy serif fonts with simple sans serif ones so I needed to pick a fancy one for the “Delpad Week” text and then a simple one for the prompts and dates and such.
Step Two - COLORS!
After I picked the two fonts I wanted to use I had to pick out the colors for the poster and the text. I took the colors for the “Delpad Week” logo itself from a pic of the Sun Chaser/Cloud Slayer I found, both the usual red and then the darker shadow. Which, once again, there HAS to be an easier way to do this but I typed the words out twice in both colors and painstakingly layered them over each other in just the right way to get the “drop shadow” effect I wanted.
Then I picked a nice light black for the rest of the text that I think I took from the line art on a screen cap I found? Either way it looked better than true black. And took time to find.
And of course I needed to find a good blue for the background which took a bit cuz it needed to match everything else.
Step Three - Sizing!
I had to look up all of the different recommended photo dimensions for tumblr and twitter icons, headers, posts, ect to make sure the damn things wouldn’t look wonky once I uploaded them.
Oh and since Clip is weird I did actually have to do that typing/layering thing on EACH NEW PICTURE I made. Which making sure they all looked the same sure was FUCKING HARD and took hours!
And my friend took the time to make the transparent Della and LP for the banners and I had to resize and center them on each pic. And I had to find and size/position the clouds and transparent Sun Chaser/Cloud Slayer too.
Step 4 - Putting It All Together!
Imo this one is the hardest since Clip doesn’t have alignment tools and even if it did sometimes due to fonts and art and such being the way they are true center doesn’t actually LOOK centered to the human eye so there’s a lot of fiddling around with the text and pics to make it look as close as possible to center which starts to kinda numb your mind after a while. Lots of taking breaks and coming back to it to make sure it looked okay.
And of course typing all of the prompts out and making sure the fonts actually do look okay and everything is spelled right and spaced correctly. I have dyslexia, I double check spelling, sue me.
So once you finally think that everything looks okay you get to go upload it to different sites to make sure the icons and such don’t look blurry or get cropped weird and then inevitably go back and move everything around again or in some cases remake them entirely(the deviantART icon took like two re-makes to get right) when they do. Shit takes time, yo.
That might not seem like a lot but let me stress that I made the prompt list poster, the tumblr icon and banner, the twitter icon and banner, the deviantART club icon, and the other banners for things like updates and such. Which all and all took the better part of TWO FUCKING DAYS.
And that’s not even mentioning the time it took to find a good tumblr theme and set it up and put together the DA club and the twitter account, as well as documenting all of the prompt suggestions and making sure I picked ones that were vague enough to allow for creativity as well as represented what everyone wanted, plus deciding on/writing out all of the rules including the ones for different sites. All of which, aside from some help here and there from friends, I did by myself. For free.
I’m not complaining. I am having a blast running Delpad Week, and making all of this was frustrating but fun. I love graphic design, I wanted to do my best, hell I even got input from my godfather who is a graphic designer on some of the banners just to make sure everything was as high a quality as it could be. And you know what? I was really, really proud of that prompt list. I have been stuck at home disabled for about a year now in awful pain most of the time and only just getting back into drawing and graphic design and I was super happy with how everything came out. I wanted people to see it, I wanted to give Delpad fans a beautiful blog and prompt list to look at after everything we have been through. And not to toot my own horn but I think I delivered.
So considering all of that you can see why having someone steal the banner, deface it with horrible and triggering content was so horribly upsetting to me. Aside from how defacing something a queer woman worked hard on with words like “burning a pride flag” is abhorrent and drove me to tears and panic attacks, how would you guys feel if someone took something you worked on for two days and shat all over it for a cheap joke? Especially when the only thing you did wrong was want to give a good, cute ship some attention.
Graphic Design is an art. Taking someone’s unique design, vandalizing it, and then reposting it IS ART THEFT. Just because it took you 10 minutes to open the pic up, color over the original text and use a crappy font to add in your own prompts doesn’t mean making the thing in the first place was that easy. (And again, I’m not complaining about the time and the work. I’m having fun. I love graphic design. If I didn’t want to do this I wouldn’t have.)
But anyway, like I said, I’m trying to not let it bother me anymore. People have apologized and that’s good. But hopefully this breakdown can help you guys appreciate the work that goes into graphic design and be a bit more courteous to the people who do that work, especially for free.

I'm using a USA BIOS out of my PS2, the game is in.
I'd like to get the game (the disc, not iso) so we could Hard mode slashes the amount of ammo you have, I feel this is a bit harsh, to be honest with you, but it certainly does make the game much more challenging.Gadget racers ps2 iso Works with Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. You cannot play the final level though if you play the game on easy mode. You have an easy mode which makes things much easier on you and you have the heavy machine gun as your default weapon. This game though does have two modes to play. The Metal Slug series is known for being rather challenging. This is called the rush blaster system and it is something that I really do like. Basically, this allows you to carry with you two powered up guns at a time and you can switch between them the scoring system is also slightly changed which allows you to rack up some major points. The game has a weapon stock system at play and this can come in very handy. While Metal Slug 6 has that classic Metal Slug gameplay we all know and love. I love the Donkey Slug as any Slug that actually uses an animal is always something that I get a real kick out of. Donkey Slug, Slug Digger, Slug Gunner Prototype and the Rootmars are the new weapons of mass destruction you can use.
With a new Metal Slug game comes new Slugs. The characters now have their own special ability which means it actually makes a difference who you pick. Not only does having the two extra characters give you more choice when it comes to who you play as. With Metal Slug 6 though they have actually added in two new I guess you could say guest characters from other franchises which is really cool.
Metal Slug always lets you pick from multiple characters, 4 has always been the gold standard.

the best character creator
do u want to make characters but cant draw for shit or ur hands are tired of holding a pen?? have you ever raged at character creators bc they only have 10 hairstyles and 5 outfits??? fear no more because here’s Kisekae!!!
the models start like the default girl on the left, but w some effort you can make your husbando, cute gremlins, pokemon gijinka or whatever u want!!!
ok but, what is Kisekae?
Kisekae is a flash game/application that works mostly as a character creator, using a mix of interchangeable parts, bits you can move around freely, and lots of sliders to change sizes and positions. Think of it as the 2D version of the Sims/Spore creators.
ngl it started as a k-on hentai game back in like 2011?? there’s still k-on girls and lewd stuff around but the focus is far from it now.
HERE is the sfw link and HERE is the nsfw one. careful w the hentai ads. You can also download an offline version from the creator’s Enty site
IF U WANNA TRY IT OUT CLICK THE READ MORE FOR A SMOL TUTORIAL
so u wanna learn about the suffering that is kisekae?? dont listen to people who say it’s the lazy tool for people too lazy to draw just like drawing, you can make a quick sketch in 10 mins or spend 6 hours adding detail and makin sure everything is PERFECT
so after this disclaimer lets bring it on!!!! click on a link and wait for the randomly generated k-on ocs to load
maybe when you open it for the first time, the tabs look like this. THIS IS BAD it means it loaded on the easy mode.
click here to unlock the Expert mode. it sounds scary, but it’s actually been the default mode for years. now you should see a lot of tabs.
LETS TALK ABOUT THE IMPORTANT STUFF FIRST
SAVING.
This is the save tab. “SAVE” and “LOAD” save the entire scene in a .txt (all models, background, items etc). "Export” shows the codes of the selected models, so you can copy them and store them somewhere. You go to “Import” to paste codes and load characters. The small pencil button opens a window to save and load entire scenes in the app’s cookies. It’s very handy but you will lose everything if you clear your cookies. The last two buttons save or load ALL the data you have in the game, aka all the scenes you saved with the pencil button.
KISEKAE DOESNT HAVE AN UNDO BUTTON SO SAVE OFTEN IN CASE YOU MESS UP
TAKING PICTURES
fOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT DARE TAKE SCREENSHOTS there’s a handy way to save better quality pics. First slider is the zoom. It’ll be your best friend to get closer and edit faces and hairstyles and details and such. See that 05/05? That’s the PNG quality, so make sure it’s always at 5/5. The squares button next to the PNG one will make the background transparent when you snap a picture. Very cool, bc kisekae backgrounds are kinda ugly. The icon on the far right lets you select a region of the screen that’s great too
STOP THE AHEGAO
Next. If you click on the model’s clothes you’ll notice they disappear and they get surprised. The automatic emotions were good when it was a porn game but to actually create content it’s just annoying idk why it still automatically loads like that tbh.
Anyway, go here to set the facial expressions to manual mode. The “Select/All” switch makes you edit all the models at the same time or just one. (Note: as pochi adds more tabs, they can get moved around and be put in a different group. just keep looking thru the pages until you find the icon you want)
HAVE ONLY ONE MODEL
You’ll most likely don’t need all 9 models at the same time, so you can go here to deactivate them. tbh it’s placed in a really weird place... a year ago it wasnt as confusing idk why Pochi added this update :/
TIME TO HAVE FUN
My recommendation is clicking on everything to see what happens. That’s honestly the best way to learn how to use it. Instead of explaining how to make good looking stuff (i cant do that bc. there’s not a single way of “doing things right” this is artistic expression u do what u do) i’ll jsut give some tips and tricks
1. HOLD SPACE TO GO OVER THE LIMITS OF MOST SLIDERS. It works wonders. Make heads smaller, shoulders broader, eyes thinner, hair pieces larger, bend time and space with the unlimited power of space key.
2. HAIR PIECES ARE NOT HAIR PIECES. BELTS ARE NOT BELTS. RIBBONS ARE NOT RIBBONS. Think of them as shapes to make stuff. Use hair pieces to make capes. Use the lines in the facemark section to draw a new nose. Make entire pieces of clothing out of belts and ribbons. The only downside is that if you move the head, hair pieces and ribbons move with them so making clothes out of ribbons turns your characters into statues
3. CLICK ON CLOTHES TO CHANGE STUFF. If you click on some clothing pieces you can change some things like unbuttoning shirt buttons, opening sweaters, putting sunglasses on their head and removing parts of scarves.
4. THE DEFAULT PALETTE IS UGLY. please do use a custom one
5. YOU RAN OUT OF SLOTS? Use the free floating items on the 3rd set of tabs. You can have extra belts, ribbons, arms, furniture and speech bubbles. Even load external images. But keep in mind extra stuff is not attached to characters, so it won’t move around with them or save in their individual codes.
6. USE OTHER PEOPLE’S EXPORTS RESPONSIBLY. There are lots of people on deviantArt and the Pochi forums (official Kisekae forums) that make character, clothing or hairstyle exports for other people to load and use on their creations (like Sims mods!). However, most dA people have rules if you want to use them on something you upload, so make sure to read each user’s rules!
7. TECHNICALLY THERE ARE NO MALE, MUSCULAR OR BIG BODY TYPES. You can force it out, but we’ve been forever cursed with the hip size being linked to the leg size. So your guys will either have feminine hips or scrawny ass legs. There aren’t any muscle options apart from abs, and the most similar thing we have for chub is a pregnant looking belly. You can always edit it with photoshop later or suffer and make muscles and fat with belts and hairs.

Efficient Link Reclamation: How to Speed Up & Scale Your Efforts
Posted by DarrenKingman
Link reclamation: Tools, tools everywhere
Every link builder, over time, starts to narrow down their favorite tactics and techniques. Link reclamation is pretty much my numero-uno. In my experience, it’s one of the best ROI activities we can use for gaining links particularly to the homepage, simply because the hard work — the "mention" (in whatever form that is) — is already there. That mention could be of your brand, an influencer who works there, or a tagline from a piece of content you’ve produced, whether it’s an image asset, video, etc. That’s the hard part. But with it done, and after a little hunting and vetting the right mentions, you’re just left with the outreach.
Aside from the effort-to-return ratio, there are various other benefits to link reclamation:
It’s something you can start right away without assets
It’s a low risk/low investment form of link building
Nearly all brands have unlinked mentions, but big brands tend to have the most and therefore see the biggest routine returns
If you’re doing this for clients, they get to see an instant return on their investment
Link reclamation isn’t a new tactic, but it is becoming more complex and tool providers are out there helping us to optimize our efforts. In this post, I’m going to talk a little about those tools and how to apply them to speed up and scale your link reclamation.
Finding mentions
Firstly, we want to find mentions. No point getting too fancy at this stage, so we just head over to trusty Google and search for the range of mentions we’re working on.
As I described earlier, these mentions can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so I would generally treat each type of mention that I’m looking for as a separate project. For example, if Moz were the site I was working on, I would look for mentions of the brand and create that as one "project," then look for mentions of Followerwonk and treat that as another, and so on. The reasons why will become clear later on!
So, we head to the almighty Google and start our searches.
To help speed things up it’s best to expand your search result to gather as many URLs as you can in as few clicks as possible. Using Google’s Search Settings, you can quickly max out your SERPs to one hundred results, or you can install a plugin like GInfinity, which allows you to infinitely scroll through the results and grab as many as you can before your hand cramps up.
Now we want to start copying as many of these results as possible into an Excel sheet, or wherever it is you’ll be working from. Clicking each one and copying/pasting is hell, so another tool to quickly install for Chrome is Linkclump. With this one, you’ll be able to right click, drag, and copy as many URLs as you want.
Linkclump Pro Tip: To ensure you don’t copy the page titles and cache data from a SERP, head over to your Linkclump settings by right-clicking the extension icon and selecting "options." Then, edit your actions to include "URLs only" and "copied to clipboard." This will make the next part of the process much easier!
Filtering your URL list
Now we’ve got a bunch of URLs, we want to do a little filtering, so we know a) the DA of these domains as a proxy metric to qualify mentions, and b) whether or not they already link to us.
How you do this bit will depend on which platforms you have access to. I would recommend using BuzzStream as it combines a few of the future processes in one place, but URL Profiler can also be used before transferring your list over to some alternative tools.
Using BuzzStream
If you’re going down this road, BuzzStream can pretty much handle the filtering for you once you’ve uploaded your list of URLs. The system will crawl through the URLs and use their API to display Domain Authority, as well as tell you if the page already links to you or not.
The first thing you’ll want to do is create a "project" for each type of mention you’re sourcing. As I mentioned earlier this could be "brand mentions," "creative content," "founder mentions," etc.
When adding your "New Project," be sure to include the domain URL for the site you’re building links to, as shown below. BuzzStream will then go through and crawl your list of URLs and flag any that are already linking to you, so you can filter them out.
Next, we need to get your list of URLs imported. In the Websites view, use Add Websites and select "Add from List of URLs":
The next steps are really easy: Upload your list of URLs, then ensure you select "Websites and Links" because we want BuzzStream to retrieve the link data for us.
Once you’ve added them, BuzzStream will work through the list and start displaying all the relevant data for you to filter through in the Link Monitoring tab. You can then sort by: link status (after hitting "Check Backlinks" and having added your URL), DA, and relationship stage to see if you/a colleague have ever been in touch with the writer (especially useful if you/your team uses BuzzStream for outreach like we do at Builtvisible).
Using URL Profiler
If you’re using URL Profiler, firstly, make sure you’ve set up URL Profiler to work with your Moz API. You don’t need a paid Moz account to do this, but having one will give you more than 500 checks per day on the URLs you and the team are pushing through.
Then, take the list of URLs you’ve copied using Linkclump from the SERPs (I’ve just copied the top 10 from the news vertical for "moz.com" as my search), then paste the URLs in the list. You’ll need to select "Moz" in the Domain Level Data section (see screenshot) and also fill out the "Domain to Check" with your preferred URL string (I’ve put "Moz.com" to capture any links to secure, non-secure, alternative subdomains and deeper level URLs).
Once you’ve set URL Profiler running, you’ll get a pretty intimidating spreadsheet, which can simply be cut right down to the columns: URL, Target URL and Domain Mozscape Domain Authority. Filter out any rows that have returned a value in the Target URL column (essentially filtering out any that found an HREF link to your domain), and any remaining rows with a DA lower than your benchmark for links (if you work with one).
And there’s my list of URLs that we now know:
1) don’t have any links to our target domain,
2) have a reference to the domain we’re working on, and
3) boast a DA above 40.
Qualify your list
Now that you’ve got a list of URLs that fit your criteria, we need to do a little manual qualification. But, we’re going to use some trusty tools to make it easy for us!
The key insight we’re looking for during our qualification is if the mention is in a natural linking element of the page. It’s important to avoid contacting sites where the mention is only in the title, as they’ll never place the link. We particularly want placements in the body copy as these are natural link locations and so increase the likelihood of your efforts leading somewhere.
So from my list of URLs, I’ll copy the list and head over to URLopener.com (now bought by 10bestseo.com presumably because it’s such an awesome tool) and paste in my list before asking it to open all the URLs for me:
Now, one by one, I can quickly scan the URLs and look for mentions in the right places (i.e. is the mention in the copy, is it in the headline, or is it used anywhere else where a link might not look natural?).
When we see something like this (below), we’re making sure to add this URL to our final outreach list:
However, when we see this (again, below), we’re probably stripping the URL out of our list as there’s very little chance the author/webmaster will add a link in such a prominent and unusual part of the page:
The idea is to finish up with a list of unlinked mentions in spots where a link would fit naturally for the publisher. We don’t want to get in touch with everyone, with mentions all over the place, as it can harm your future relationships. Link building needs to make sense, and not just for Google. If you’re working in a niche that mentions your client, you likely want not only to get a link but also build a relationship with this writer — it could lead to 5 links further down the line.
Getting email addresses
Now that you’ve got a list of URLs that all feature your brand/client, and you’ve qualified this list to ensure they are all unlinked and have mentions in places that make sense for a link, we need to do the most time-consuming part: finding email addresses.
To continue expanding our spreadsheet, we’re going to need to know the contact details of the writer or webmaster to request our link from. To continue our theme of efficiency, we just want to get the two most important details: email address and first name.
Getting the first name is usually pretty straightforward and there’s not really a need to automate this. However, finding email addresses could be an entirely separate article in itself, so I’ll be brief and get to the point. Read this, and here’s a summary of places to look and the tools I use:
Author page
Author’s personal website
Author’s Twitter profile
Rapportive & Email Permutator
Allmytweets
Journalisted.com
Mail Tester
More recently, we’ve been also using Skrapp.io. It’s a LinkedIn extension (like Hunter.io) that installs a "Find Email" button on LinkedIn with a percentage of accuracy. This can often be used with Mail Tester to discover if the suggested email address provided is working or not.
It’s likely to be a combination of these tools that helps you navigate finding a contact’s email address. Once we have it, we need to get in touch — at scale!
Pro Tip: When using Allmytweets, if you’re finding that searches for "email" or "contact" aren’t working, try "dot." Usually journalists don’t put their full email address on public profiles in a scrapeable format, so they use "me@gmail [dot] com" to get around it.
Making contact
So, because this is all about making the process efficient, I’m not going to repeat or try to build on the other already useful articles that provide templates for outreach (there is one below, but that’s just as an example!). However, I am going to show you how to scale your outreach and follow-ups.
Mail merges
If you and your team aren’t set in your ways with a particular paid tool, your best bet for optimizing scale is going to be a mail merge. There are a number of them out there, and honestly, they are all fairly similar with either varying levels of free emails per day before you have to pay, or they charge from the get-go. However, for the costs we’re talking about and the time it saves, building a business case to either convince yourself (freelancers) or your finance department (everyone else!) will be a walk in the park.
I’ve been a fan of Contact Monkey for some time, mainly for tracking open rates, but their mail merge product is also part of the $10-a-month package. It’s a great deal. However, if you’re after something a bit more specific, YAMM is free to a point (for personal Gmail accounts) and can send up to 50 emails a day.
You’ll likely need to work through the process with the whatever tool you pick but, using your spreadsheet, you’ll be able to specify which fields you want the mail merge to select from, and it’ll insert each element into the email.
For link reclamation, this is really as personable as you need to get — no lengthy paragraphs on how much you loved [insert article related to my infographic] or how long you’ve been following them on Twitter, just a good old to the point email:
Hi [first name], I recently found a mention of a company I work with in one of your articles. Here’s the article:[insert URL] Where you’ve mentioned our company, Moz, would you be able to provide a link back to the domain Moz.com, in case users would like to know more about us? Many thanks, Darren.
If using BuzzStream
Although BuzzStream’s mail merge options are pretty similar to the process above, the best "above and beyond" feature that BuzzStream has is that you can schedule in follow up emails as well. So, if you didn’t hear back the first time, after a week or so their software will automatically do a little follow-up, which in my experience, often leads to the best results.
When you’re ready to start sending emails, select the project you’ve set up. In the "Websites" section, select "Outreach." Here, you can set up a sequence, which will send your initial email as well as customized follow-ups.
Using the same extremely brief template as above, I’ve inserted my dynamic fields to pull in from my data set and set up two follow up emails due to send if I don’t hear back within the next 4 days (BuzzStream hooks up with my email through Outlook and can monitor if I receive an email from this person or not).
Each project can now use templates set up for the type of mention you’re following up. By using pre-set templates, you can create one for brand mention, influencers, or creative projects to further save you time. Good times.
I really hope this has been useful for beginners and seasoned link reclamation pros alike. If you have any other tools you use that people may find useful or have any questions, please do let us know below.
Thanks everyone!

Day 8 Share a piece of canon (Starz shows and how I fell truly in love during S2 moments, Da vinci's Demons, Black Sails)
Day 1 In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you. What drew you to it? What did you take away from it? I'm assisting with mod duties this year and this is what I wrote for my introduction there: I've been in fandom a long time. I've seen some good changes and some not so good. Lately in some places there's been a lot of negativity in fandom and overall it seems there's been a steady decline in interaction. For me fandom is about the joy of connecting with other fans, discussing, creating, consuming - and also commenting on fanworks of all kinds. I'm hoping Snowflake Challenge will give us all a positive boost and encourage us to focus on the good and to rediscover the community side of fandom. And because I'm assisting with mod duties I'm seeing a lot more of the content being produced and its amazing and heartwarming to see people sharing their personal stories and how fandom has helped them, talking about their passions, sharing their favourite fandoms and resources and fanworks. It's wonderful to see so many journal entries and activity! Day 2 In your own space, share a favorite memory about fandom: the first time you got into fandom, the last time a fanwork touched your heart, crazy times with fellow fans (whether on-line or off-line), a lovely comment you’ve received or have left for someone. Legend of the Seeker. This is one of my longer and more active fandoms. The peoplespalace was where I felt very welcomed and encouraged and I wrote a lot of fanworks and participated in a lot of the activities there. I miss the Darken/Cara/Rahl family side of the fandom a lot. There was also legendland a landcomm which ran for many years – we even had a reunion battle last year which was nice! I wrote so much fic, made icons and other graphics, even fanvids. I tried to do every challenge where possible. I was on Team Cara for the longest time. Cara, Darken, Zedd were always my favourites ;) Before legendland there was whedonland and again I felt part of something there. It pretty much saved my life a couple of times. These days there's gameofcards and it's fun and I encourage everyone to check it out, but the more specific fandom landcomms seemed to make for more tight-knit teams and I miss them. Day 3 In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create. There are so many things I could rec! But I'll pick 5 AU fics from 5 different fandoms to spread the love a little Side by Side – Cormoran Strike http://archiveofourown.org/works/12036537 Fantasy au that ends in Strike/Robin, highly recommended. Murder – Dark Matter http://archiveofourown.org/works/12000579 College au based around an actual tradition of a game called "murder". As Glory Turns to Dust – Hamilton http://archiveofourown.org/works/11359656 Modern au with magic. Hamilton is cursed to be forgotten, leaving him alone in the world except, briefly, for Jefferson. Warning this is a fantastic fic but a sad ending. There is however a linked sequel by another author to put things right :) Skin Full of Lies – Black Sails http://archiveofourown.org/works/7570540 Soulmate au Silverflint "Every lie your soulmate tells you appears on your skin. Between outward lies, manipulations and stories told the crew John Silver's ink quite quickly takes over most of James' body." a gift fic for me, The Princess' Bodyguard – The Shannara Chronicles http://archiveofourown.org/works/13113129 pre-canon au in which Eretria is Amberle's bodyguard. One-shot but with potential for more, strong hints of Eretria/Amberle Day 4 In your own space, create a fannish wishlist. No limits on size or type of fanwork; just tell us what you’d like to see. Can we please do as most people asked on their fannish wishlist for day 4 and leave more comments? Can we journal more and create more? Can we rediscover the joy of fandom and stop with the "anti" behaviour? Please. More specifically for me, art for fics is always welcome. (I have a transformative work statement at LJ/DW and AO3 and have had translations of my work and podfic which are lovely!) In particular for my sfbb fic Bad Case of Loving You. I've got beautiful artwork for most of my sfbb fics, the DvD fics in particular. For sfbb I provide pinterest boards to help with resources and generally try to help artists out, as I did here. This is a Black Sails modern au medical drama with Silver/Flint/Miranda and Silver&Max and it was a labour of love and I'm still amazed I managed to write the thing. However it seemed to be cursed. My first beta dropped out. My first artist dropped out. My second artist swore they were ready to go then didn't post, then after the fest posted a basic stock photo+text "cover". *sigh* I made my own art in the end, banner and mini picspam for the tumblr promo post but I'm an amateur artist. Day 5 Recommend a fannish or creative resource. Springfield!Springfield! has movie and tv episode scripts. kiss them goodbye has a huge amount of screencap galleries. farfarawaysite has a smaller amount of pictures but tends to have high quality promotional pictures. Cloudinary is the site I'm using for image hosting since the photobucket debacle. Day 6 Leave feedback for a fanwork. Or multiple fanworks. It can be as simple as I liked this to a detailed list of all the things you loved about the fanwork. The key is to leave some sort of feedback. If you've already left feedback in the course of a previous challenge, it totally counts. But you're free to leave more feedback. My new year's resolution last year was to leave a comment on every fanfic, hosted on AO3, over 100 words, that I finished reading. (I needed some parameters; this doesn't mean I didn't leave comments at LJ/DW or on drabbles because I did, on occasion). I did the thing. I read a little less than usual. I noped out of more fics. But the fics I read and finished got a comment. I'm going to try and keep doing that. I've already left comments on some fics this year. My additional resolution for this year is to write down more of my ideas. Having plot ideas or dialogues while showering or in bed is one thing, but if I don't write/type at least the basics up, I forget them partially or entirely when I try to write the thing weeks or months later. Day 7: In your own space, create a love meme for yourself. Let people tell you how amazing and awesome and loveable you really are Come and tell me how amazing I am ;) Seriously though, I'm working on being more positive and telling myself I'm worthwhile, I deserve more, I am achieving more. But it always helps when other people are backing that up. Drop me a gif in the comments if that's easier, gifs are like greeting cards for saying the things we don't know how to otherwise express. Day 8 In your own space, share a favourite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favourite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much. My love of Starz shows seems to kick off in second seasons. For Da Vinci's Demons in S2e04 – starts around here: https://youtu.be/cQi4xjrBmgI?t=11m27s This is the moment I fell in love with younger!hotter!Riario, aka Blake Ritson in a wig, because hair kink. But also the moment I finally liked Lucrezia too, seeing her devotion to her sister. If you want me to like a character, have them adore and protect their little sister, if you want me to hate them, have them throw little sis under the bus. Riario tries to spare both girls, succeeds in saving only one, and his grief is evident as he speaks with a heartbroken Lucrezia. This scene changed how I felt about both Riario and Lucrezia and thus about the show and my fannish involvement. Similarly this humorous moment changed my feelings about Silver and SilverFlint in the opening episode of S2 Black Sails : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIt9u7CkBf0 when Silver completely misunderstands the plan and volunteers for a risky mission. This tumblr post shows what happens next: http://alightabovethearbys.tumblr.com/post/168194826519 It's even better later when they get on board, leading to Flint's exasperated "Well what the fuck did you think was going to happen?" You can see some gifs from all those Silverflint moments in S2 here: http://jolinarofmalkshur.tumblr.com/post/168381696381/john-silver-appreciation-week-day-6-favorite

MySpace CSS Costumize Help
Hiya everyone,Im doing this ‘help’ cause I got a good panic a day ago ‘cause didn’t found any complete clean CSS code to my profile and had to go all by myself to get a code and costumize,and now I wanna help everyone to get at least what I learned and got.
Then I’m gonna show some things and how to fully costumize your profile layout in the throwback Windows93 MySpace.
First I want to thanks to some users that helped me to figure the things out Mannyman2004 and sskailyn (thanks for that girl for all the code <3) .
*CSS
An complete changed CSS is a thing that is really big since everything have an code,an color,and a form,also you gotta be careful to not mess everything just because of a dumb mistake for example put a information color in one that you didn’t wanted and got complete confused to how put in the old color back (that hapenned with me).
Here’s some codes that you can costumize if you like me isn’t all familiar with this stuff: https://myspace.windows93.net/blog.php?id=5778&b=2 (the second link,also if you wanna use all the theme with no modification credit her!!)
https://myspace.windows93.net/blog.php?id=3532&b=4 (same to him)
(If you find another feel free to say! I even add it here)
Now,one of the best helpers in confusing CSS stuff is the Ctrl + Shift + J,do this and a window gonna appear in the right side of the screen:
This shows a bunch of the page’s informations and things going on there,expand it with your mouse as much as it appear another window beside with other informations (horizontally),now as you can see there’s a cursor in a square button click on it:
(da boi over here)
!!! I recommend you do this only when you got confused with an color or a place that you wanted to change but didn’t found in any CSS code (in some cases I used the one that appeared in the white ballon when I passed with the cursor above that shows in purple and blue color),since it’s not everything that you want to change gonna appear in the right,most are only the ones with color that do this (don’t ya worry cause these are the reasons that the links for CSS’s are above!) !!! look:
(div#header X #header,the ‘div#’ one is best and easier to use in my opinion)
(did it with the header,it shows not only the background but also the color of the lyric and the border)
*SOME IMPORTANT THINGS IN THE CSS
In the links that I showed the localizations of what are what in the page are clear to understand in the CSS,but is not uncommon to forget or don’t know one or another,then so here’s what some codes means:
#name : Your name above you profile pic in the top
div#header : the top division that shows the site’s url and ‘logout’ and ‘email’
div#hSub : the one below that shows ‘all fwiends’ ‘home’ etc
.extended : the part that shows if you are in someone’s extended network
*THINGS THAT MAY NOT APPEAR BUT YOU WANNA CHANGE
I did this with mine’s cause didn’t had in the original CSS and it almost bugged me cause it wasn’t uncommon to change,get happy and then after seeing more sees that it screwed another different thing unrelated (putting another thing purple that was in a complete different color just cause you did it with another thing) It normally happens cause you didn’t specified exacly what thing only (or things) should be,I talked about this in the *CSS,so as an little helper I wanna show some full codes I put and worked with things that didn’t had in the original one (and other things also if you don’t find them in the one you got) !don’t copy the texts in italic! :
.player { padding: 4px; margin-top: 20px; margin-bottom: 20px; background: #THECOLORYOUWANTHERE; color: #THECOLORYOUWANTHERE; width: calc(100% - 10px ); border: 1px solid #THECOLORYOUWANTHERE ; }
.fwiendFace b {
overflow: hidden;
color: #THECOLORYOUWANTHERE; } (friend’s names in your profile)
a:-webkit-any-link { color: #THECOLORYOUWANTHERE; } (links to click such as ‘all’)
div#sMsg.boxButton{ font-size: 0px; color: rgb(255, 255, 255); } div#sMsg.boxButton::after{ font-size: 15px; color: #THECOLORYOUWANTHERE; ; content: "message me!!!"; }
block {
background-image: url(insert image url); color: #THECOLORYOUWANTHERE ; }
div#block.boxButton{ font-size: 0px; color: rgb(255, 255, 255); }
div#block.boxButton::after{ font-size: 15px; color: #THECOLORYOUWANTHERE; ; content: "block? :("; }
report {
background-image: url(insert image url); color: #THECOLORYOUWANTHERE ; }
div#report.boxButton{ font-size: 0px; color: #THECOLORYOUWANTHERE; }
div.topLeft.blogCard { color: #THECOLORYOUWANTHERE ; } (your informations in your blog,recommend to use if you get an dark background for your profile)
p { font-family: 13px arial; color: #THECOLORYOUWANTHERE ; } (another type for profiles with dark background! this one is for the low credits reaaally above the page plus the MySpace url above in the top)
!Reminder,the Color is for the lyric/font color while Background the “wallpaper” of what you wanna change! (you can also change the Background to just a plain color,just take off the “Background-image” if the code have both or replace it with “Background” and voilá,now if you want is a pic background instead a plain color one,you can just put the url code in the Background place with no changes.
*OPTIONAL AND DECORATIVE STUFF
Of course,you can do way more in to your space,here’s some things that you can put in your’s If you desire and again,not the italics:
Center text: div { text-align: center; } (,can be used even in the header,reminder that it ain’t gonna work in “about me” if you put directly in its text box,you have to put in the CSS one)
Different cursor: you can find them easily in all the internet and even do your own one if you would like (sadly I don’t know anything about doing one),I think everybody knows that already since well,you still can do that here in tumblr (remember also,put in the CSS part with a CSS working code)
Color’s HTML: In the reality this is more a important thing than just an optional so keep this in mind!!!! these bois are what gonna change your profile even if are only small things,everything there is with them,If you want to find easily go to https://htmlcolorcodes.com/ where you can choose one already or pick one
Icons in the contact box: You can easily change your icons (”block”,”add fwiend”) to another smoll one,such as cute or different ones! as always you can find them all the internet,you can find some places in already customized CSS urls.
Font: You can easily change you profile’s font thing just by the font-family like I showed in the ‘p’ code,add this to the one place you wanna change If it doesn’t have plus the name of the font you wanna use like this:
font-family: papyrus;
The main used as always is 13px arial one,didn’t changed in the one above to don’t cause any problems.Also in the common ones that I can change easily (the part “about you” for example) I find easier to use font changers online since that If you just get bored you can simply erase and put another only easy and fast.
Character in the right side of the page: this is basically the your MySpace page url (the box in the left part of the page above ur profile stuff) changed into a figure or a pic of something you like (even a gif!),all you have to do is to put these things on your CSS code:
div.url.box { background: url(PICYOUWANT) no-repeat; background-size: 140px; position: fixed; right: 0; bottom: 0px; color: #ffffff00; height: 104px; width: 150px; animation: shake 2s infinite; border: none; box-shadow: none; filter: drop-shadow(8px 9px 15px #00000044); z-index: 1000; }
.url a { color: #ffffff00!important; }
*Depending the pic or thing you get,the height and (or) width might be changed for a better perspective,the lower your height (like the one) lower gonna be the pic in your page as an example on how the px is also a changeable thing here.
Character/stuff on a side of the page + a “Welcome” pic when entering your profile: This one is If you wanna add a character or something like in the side of your profile page aaaaand a pic or something like a greeting that is gonna appear when you or someone enters to see your MySpace,I only know the both ‘url box and Clippy’ CSS,sorry,gonna try to see if there’s a method that only do the Clippy one like the character in url.box that I showed here above,here It is:
@keyframes bootAndClippy { from { background: url(PICYOUWANTHERETOAPPEARWHENENTERINGYOURPROFILE) #000; background-position: center; background-size: contain; background-repeat: no-repeat; position: fixed; right: 0; bottom: 0px; top: 0; left: 0; color: #ffffff00; border: none; box-shadow: none; filter: drop-shadow(8px 9px 15px #00000044); z-index: 1000; } to { background: url(PICYOUWANTTOAPPEARINTHESIDEOFYOURPROFILE); background-size: 140px; position: fixed; right: 0; bottom: 0px; color: #ffffff00; height: 131px; width: 150px; z-index: 100; animation: shake 2s infinite; border: none; box-shadow: none; filter: drop-shadow(8px 9px 15px #00000044); z-index: 1000; } } .url.box { animation: bootAndClippy 3s steps(1) none; animation-fill-mode: forwards; } .url.box a { display: none;
}
*The tip from the ‘Character in the right side of the page’ goes here too obviously.Also you can change the color of the background of the Clippy stuff! It can be whatever color you want not only black (it’s just there as an “default” color)
------------------------------------------
I may be doing more research in other things that Im still not aware on how work (as different profile shape,character or someone in the screen’s right side) but as I understand I may put it all here,srry.
BONUS: utf-16 is a user that shared some of his CSS,them are pretty different ones,If you would like you can find him there (also remember credits!)
That’s it by now! Hope you all stil deep inside emo souls can rawr in peace ‘U’

Version 393
youtube
windows

macOS
app
linux
tar.gz
EDIT: This release had a hotfix two hours after initial release to fix the CloudFlare code. If you got it early, please redownload. The links are the same, the build is new.
I had a good week catching up on messages and small jobs. There is also a (hopefully) neat prototype solution for some cloudflare issues.
cloudflare and network
CloudFlare hosts content for many sites online. They have a variety of anti-DDoS tech, normally a variation on a 'is this a web browser?' test, that sometimes stops hydrus from downloading. If you have seen unexplainable 503 errors on a site that works ok in your browser, this may have been it.
This week, I am adding a library, cloudscraper, to my network engine to try to solve this. Now hydrus will attempt to detect CF challenge pages when they are downloaded and pass them off to this new library, which attempts to solve the javascript challenge (the part where a CF site sometimes says 'this process may take five seconds...', just as a browser would, and then copies the solved cookies back into the hydrus network session.
This first version can only solve the simple javascript challenges. It cannot do the more serious captcha tests yet, but this is a possible future expansion. I would appreciate any feedback from users who have had bad CF problems. If a page cannot be solved, or if your entire IP range had been flat-out blocked, hydrus should now attribute new CF-appropriate error messages.
For users who run from source, this library is optional. You can get it through pip, 'cloudscraper'.
Additionally, I am rolling in the very first basic version of 'this domain is having trouble' tech to my network engine. Now, if you keep having connection errors or CF issues with a site, hydrus recognises this and slows down access for a bit. The default is that no new network job will start as long as its site has had three serious errors in the past ten minutes, but you can edit this rule, including turning it off completely, under options->connection. Subscriptions will also try to wave off sites having trouble, just as if you had hit bandwidth limits. I expect to extend this system significantly in future, particularly by adding UI to see and manage current domain status.
the rest
The Windows build of hydrus is now on a newer version of python, 3.7 instead of 3.6. This makes for a variety of small background improvements all over the place, and some updated libraries, but may also introduce an odd bug here or there in more rarely used hydrus systems. Let me know if you run into trouble!
I did another round of file search optimisations on searches that do not have tag search predicates, such as bare system:rating or system:inbox queries.
Thanks to some excellent work by a user, there is another new DA parser. This one gets full-size images, video, flash, and even pdf! The only proviso is that it needs to be logged in to DA to get most content, otherwise it 404s. I believe the hydrus DA login script works, but if you have trouble with it, Hydrus Companion is always a good fallback.
The blacklist in tag import options gets a bit of work this week. It now tests unnamespaced rules against namespaced tags, so if you have a rule for 'metroid', it will also block 'series:metroid'. This is a special rule just for the tag import options blacklist (it also tests all siblings of the test tag), and to reflect it, the tag filter/blacklist edit panel now has a second 'test' text to show how the test input applies to a TIO blacklist, as opposed to a regular tag filter.
This is a small thing, but if you are mostly a keyboard user, the mouse now hides on the media viewer without having to be moved!
If you have had crashes trying to open a file or directory picker dialog, try the new BUGFIX checkbox under options->gui. It tries to use a different style of dialog that may be better for you.
full list
cloudflare and network:
the hydrus client now has an experimental hook to the cloudscraper module, which is now an optional pip module for source users and included in all built releases. if a CF challenge page is downloaded, hydrus attempts to detect and solve it with cloudscraper and save the CF cookies back to the session before reattempting the request. all feedback on this working/breaking irl would be welcome. current expectation for this prototype is it can pass the basic 'wait five seconds' javascript challenge, but only a handful of the more complicated captcha ones
if a CF challenge page is not solvable, the respective fail reason for that URL will be labelled appropriately about CloudFlare and have more technical information
.
the hydrus network engine now has the capability to remember recent serious network infrastructure errors (no connection, unsolvable cloudflare problem, etc..) on a per domain basis. if many serious errors have happened on a domain, new jobs will now wait until they are clear. this defaults to three or more such errors in the past ten minutes, and is configurable (and disableable) under options->connection. this will be built out to a flexible system in future, with per-domain options+status ui to see what's going on and actions to scrub delays
basically, if a server or your internet connection goes down, hydrus now throttles down to limit the damage
subscriptions now test if a domain is ok in order to decide whether they can start or continue file work, just like with bandwidth
serverside bandwidth alerts (429 or 509) are now classified as network infrastructure errors
I expect this system will need more tuning
.
the hydrus downloader system now recognises when an expected parseable document is actually an importable file. when this is true, the file is imported. this hopefully solves the situation where a site may deliver a post url or a file
.
the rest:
the windows build of hydrus is now in python 3.7.6, up from 3.6. this rolls in a host of small improvements, including to network stability and security (e.g. TLS 1.3), and possibly a couple of new bugs in more unusual hydrus systems
similarly, all the windows libraries are now their latest versions. opencv is now 4.2
greatly sped up several file searches that include no tags such as bare system:rating, most system file metadata predicates, or bare system:inbox, when the result size is much smaller than the total number of files in the file domain
thanks to some excellent work by a user, the Deviant Art downloader gets another pass--it can now get high res versions of images where they are available, and video, and flash, and pdf! the only proviso is that you need to be logged in to DA to get most content, otherwise you get 404. the current hydrus DA login script _seems_ to work ok
tag import options blacklists now test unnamespaced rules against namespaced tags. so if you blacklist 'metroid', a 'series:metroid' will be caught and the blacklist veto signal sent. this can be escaped with the 'advanced' exception panel, which now permits you to add 'redundant' rules
the edit tag filter panel now explains the blacklist rules explicitly and has a second 'test' green/red text to display test results for a tag import options blacklist, with the new sibling and namespace check
added some unit tests to test the new tag import options blacklist namespace rule
when 'default' tag import options are set, the edit panel now hides the per-service options, rather the the previous disable
the system tray icon now destroys itself when no longer needed, rather than hiding itself. it should now be more reliable in OSes that do not support system tray icon hide/show. if your OS still doesn't get rid of them, and you get a whole row of them, I recommend just leaving it always on
the system tray now has a tooltip with the main hydrus title and pause statuses
the timer that hides the mouse on the media viewer is now fired off when the window first opens (previously it would only initiate on the first mouse move over the window), so users who navigate mostly by keyboard should now see their cursors nicely hide on their own
added some semi-hacky import/export/duplicate buttons to edit shortcuts. I'll keep working on this, it'd be nice to have import/export for whole shortcut sets
added a semi-hacky duplicate button to the 'manage http headers' dialog
the 'clear' recent tag suggestions button is now wrapped in a yes/no dialog
a new checkbox under options->gui now lets you set it so when new cookies are sent from the API, or cookies are cleared, a popup message summarises the change. the popup dismisses itself after five seconds
the client api now also returns 'ext' on /get_files/file_metadata calls, just as a simpler alternative if the 'mime' is a pain
fixed a bug when petitioning tags through the client api, with or without reasons
fixed an error where subscriptions that somehow held invalid URLs would not be able to predict some bandwidth stuff, which would not allow the edit subs dialog to open
the string transformation dialog's step subdialog is now ok with example strings that are bytes. even then, this str/bytes dichotomy is an old artifact of python 2 and I will likely clean it up sometime so string transformers (and downloaders) only ever work utf-8 and hashes just work off utf-8 hex
added a BUGFIX checkbox to options->gui that tells the UI to use Qt file/directory picker dialogs, instead of the native OS one. users who have crashes on file selection are encouraged to try this out
updated running from source help with cloudscraper, a new pip masterline, and some windows venv info
the 'import with tags' button on 'import files' dialog gets another rename for new users, this time to 'add tags before the import >>'. it also gets a tooltip
handled an unusual rare error that could occur when switching out a media player inside a media viewer, perhaps during media viewer shutdown
next week
Next week is a cleanup week. I'd like to go into the tag autocomplete code and clean up how the input text is parsed and how results are cached and filtered. Otherwise, I'll do more wx->Qt cleanup and catch up on some small jobs.

The 10 Most Important Google Ranking Factors in 2020
Did you know that the first page of Google captures 71% of search traffic clicks? With more than 3.5 billion searches made every day on Google, a company that holds 87.96% of the search engine market share, there’s no denying that you should rank well in this almighty search engine. After all, the term “google” is now officially a verb in the Oxford English Dictionary!
So how do you become visible to your target audience? As an expert in the evolving landscape of SEO, Big Leap is keeping you in the know by providing 10 key Google ranking factors that will help you stay ahead of the game. So let’s dive in!
What Are the SEO Ranking Factors to Look Out For?
1. Domain Authority (DA)
A more established website with a higher domain authority will gain better and quicker traction on Google. Domain authority (DA) is usually a combination of quality content and off-page SEO elements, such as inbound links and social shares.
Start by checking your DA with Moz’s Link Explorer. If you find that your DA needs some extra love, here are a few ways you can get started:
Tweak your off-page SEO – Improve your link profile by removing any bad links from your profile (you can use tools such as SEMRush’s Backlink Audit Tool or Moz Link Explorer) and reaching out to influential blogs to see if they will link to your site.
Tweak your on-page SEO – Optimize your on-site SEO by adding internal links (this will help pass on authority to your pages) and utilize proper use of headings (H1s and H2s) throughout your content. The more readable your content, the better chances it has of ranking higher in Google. Don’t forget to optimize your images and videos to add relevant alt tags that concisely describe your content.
2. Secure and Accessible Website
What is a website without a good URL? Building a secure and accessible website involves a URL that Google bots can easily reach and crawl. To help out these bots, you can:
Create an HTTPS by enabling an SSL security certificate on your website.
Implement a robots.txt file that will tell Google which areas of your website should and should not be scanned.
3. Page Speed
Let’s be real, do you wait around for a site that takes more than a few seconds to load on your screen? Forty percent of users abandon sites that take more than three seconds to load. A slow site means a loss in traffic, as your potential customers are most likely jumping over to a competitor’s site. As Google takes into account the user’s experience, incorporate the following to help boost your page speed:
Use Gzip – This is a software application for file compression that reduces the size of your CSS, HTML, and JavaScript files that are larger than 150 bytes.
Optimize your code – Remove unnecessary characters, commas, spaces, and unused code.
Minimize redirects – The more redirects you have, the slower your page/site. Page redirects involve more time waiting for the HTTP request-response cycle to complete. Therefore, clear out any plugins that you don’t need and scan your website for any redirects by using Google PageSpeed or Redirect Mapper Tool.

4. Mobile and Voice Adaptability
Mobile:
In 2018, 52.5% of all worldwide website traffic was generated through mobile phones. As mobile technology has made our culture more connected than ever, it’s vital that your site stays current by being optimized for the right devices.
Check out Google’s mobile testing tool to see whether your web page is mobile friendly. If needed, implement a mobile-responsive site that automatically resizes to fit smartphone/mobile devices. Be sure to also design a user flow that creates accessibility and navigability, so your visitors will have a seamless experience exploring your site.
Voice:
As much as technology has changed the way we view content, it’s also changed the way we seek content. With features such as Siri and Google Assistant, voice search is becoming more prevalent than ever. This should be no surprise, since talking is faster and easier than typing on your screen or keyboard.
Voice search results typically load in 4.6 seconds, which is 52% faster than the load time of the average page. Therefore, take time to optimize your website for voice search by:
Aiming for featured snippets – Google Home and Assistant typically read out featured snippets when they answer voice search questions. Enhance your site content by using Answer the Public to find common questions relevant to your keywords. Use these questions as H2s in your content and answer them directly below in the body.
Perfecting your local SEO – As 39% of voice searchers look into business information, be sure that your Google My Business Page is up to date. If you’re a pet grooming business and someone asks, “Where is the nearest pet groomer?” you want to make sure that your shop pops up at the top position in the SERP. So take time to ensure that your address, contact information, and hours are up to date.
5. Content Marketing Strategy
Never underestimate the power of quality content! Creating useful and in-depth content plays an essential role in generating backlinks and using keywords to boost your rankings. You can craft an effective content strategy by:
Researching your target audience to gain a better understanding of who you should be talking to. This also helps with content ideation.
Creating evergreen content that provides long-term value to audiences and potential customers.
Developing a quality content marketing strategy is key in boosting brand visibility, keyword rankings, and organic traffic. Check out how Big Leap boosted Spoonful of Comfort’s rankings and traffic by mapping out an effective content strategy.
6. Link Structure
Google sees links as an important ranking factor. After all, what would the web and our sites be without links? There are three types of links you should aim to build and weave into your content:
Inbound links: Also referred to as backlinks, inbound links is one of the strongest ranking components in Google’s search algorithm. When sites with strong domain authorities link back to yours, it helps prove to Google that your site is relevant and trustworthy.
You can use tools such as SEMRush to track your inbound links and remove any of your links from sites that carry a low domain authority. Build relationships with key influencers in your industry and submit guest blog posts to their sites.
Outbound links: When crafting content, you want to make sure to link to relevant and authoritative sites which will help improve the integrity of your website and business. Link to blogs/sites that carry the same niche as yours.
Internal links: Internal links improve the usability, page views, and the overall time that a user is on your site. Thus, be sure to incorporate links in your content wherever possible. If one authoritative page leads users to another page on your site, then your visitors will help pass on some of that authority to the second page, which will help these pages rank higher in Google.
7. Technical SEO
Making a site easily crawlable and understandable to search engines plays an important role in improving your Google ranking. To help optimize your technical SEO, start by implementing the following practices:
Use keyword phrases in page titles and make these titles compelling. Google looks at page titles first to decipher which content is relevant to which search. Be sure to keep it under 60 characters, so that the full title is displayed on the SERP.
Create a meta description that will entice readers to click and include your primary keyword. Keep it under 160 characters.
Use keywords in alt image tags to show Google that your images are relevant to your content.
8. User Experience
From page speed to relevancy, the user experience is everything, and Google knows this. It keeps close track of clickthrough rates, bounce rates, and dwell time to measure the value of your site/page, so be sure to optimize your titles, descriptions, and content.

9. Social Shares
Though Google has said that social social shares is not a direct ranking factor, studies have shown that there is a correlation between social signals and search engine ranking. And there’s no denying that high ranking pages have a large traction across social platforms.
That isn’t to say that social signals alone will drive traffic, but the combination of steady social shares and SEO best practices can produce significant results. Therefore, if you don’t already have social media platforms, be sure to build these out (Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, etc.) to enhance your online presence and create additional platforms to share your content on.
10. Business Information
If your business is trying to target specific locations, building out an online business information is key in helping people find you. Thus, to dominate local search, you should:
Make sure your name, address, and phone number (NAP) are up to date on online listings such as Google My Business, Yelp, and Facebook. Seek out reputable local directories by searching “[your city] directories” in Google to get your businesses listed.
Generate online reviews on important platforms such as Google My Business, where potential customers can see them while looking up your business.
Add a schema markup to your site that will provide Google with specific information on your business, such as the products you sell and the reviews you have collected. Google offers a Structured Data Testing Tool to help you check whether your markup is properly implemented.
Google Ranking Factors Reward Quality SEO
So there you have it! Ten essential Google ranking factors to give you that SEO edge. While you’re strategizing ways to incorporate these key tips, it’s important to keep in mind that Google’s search algorithm strives to provide users with high-quality results. So put in thought, time, and strategy to produce the right results and stand out from the pack. And if you need an extra hand, don’t be shy. Be sure to find SEO services you can trust.

BRUNO IN VENICE WEST By Lawrence Lipton
For Giordano Bruno burned by the Inquisition in the year 1600
http://www.freevenice.org/Sites/iblog-2008/B1986113144/C596342830/E20080502185457/index.html
Velvet and warm sweat under the torches the Procession entered the city, tall bronze men on the bronze great horses and the boys carrying banners, the fat prelates wheezing under the icons, and the musicians Up Main street, pausing to erect the great crucifix in the Circle before the U.S. Post Office, turning into Windward avenue to St. Marks Hotel, their flags and vestments, clowns In motley, peddlers hawking live birds and Turkish sweetmeats, drunks and tarts lurching along under the colonnades like any Saturday night, the P.A. horns blasting rock ‘n’ roll, sob ballads At the tavern doors, the winos wandering in and out of the alleys, blinking in the neon lights, and you Giordano Bruno between the halberdiers and the smoking torches wandering In the wind off the Pacific, here in this our Venice by the western sea as when, hooded, under the marble colonnades of old Venice once you walked, curing the Doges; burning Sapphire and crimson under his golden umbrella the merchant prince, over the pigeon droppings among the trash cans, Kinney’s dream of gondolas and gondoliers, his picture postcard Venice, chicken wire And Pittsburgh Pipe and Iron, the columns plaster, peeling now, the Grand Canal fouled up with oil, the derricks taller than windmills, we too, O merchant prince live on to see the dreges and ravelings– Tall steel and glass, high windows, greed piled high on pride, the blessed percentages; in vaticans of wealth the popes and antipopes give audience to the press, the old putridities, And men go gibbering to themselves aloud, hearing nothing, bereft of all the simple certainties. “When the first button’s wrong, all are wrong,” you said. Bruno, Bruno, When the iron key turned in the lock and the door clanged shut and the iron hand moved in the darkness, Bruno, was there sword play in the streets, the torches of the Night Watch lighting up Cut purse and slit gullet, perfumes, pomades, the stinking armour, rapes, vomits, silk brocades? Here the century that began in plush and diamond stick-pin elegance Explodes grotesquely beyond fire and ice orbiting in vacuums of space mathematics of disaster, madmen trapped in spidery black geometries. Do you remember Tintoretto’s Mounting circles within circles? Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus, Dominus. The bible shouter on the corner speaks in tongues (I hear bullroarers drums of Africa!) The neo-Platonist Newly dead, dumbfounded by his immortality, Newborn in worlds he never dreamed where life steams out of methane gas– Bruno, Bruno, pinned to the center of the burning wheel, Adam Cadmon In his mystic circle–”All is good and tends toward good,” you said. I walk beside you, unseen by the halberdiers, up Ocean Front, wind whipped, slat-beaten, leaden-eyed Past Dinty’s hot dog stand, a lush holds out a spastic hand, a junky hustling for a fix; the moon is coming up a size too large, smog orange over the mountainous east. Is it true the end is fire and ashes and no phoenix cries? Bruno, in the cold wet sea wind mountainous words tell out the last dark secrets, what is there to hide? I know Four hundred years have not sufficed to cool those fires; the gentlemen of Florence, Genoa her ships at anchor, blood and incense rancid in the Roman Sun, the poisonous wines of Florence, serpent Women walk with hooded eyes–what was old Venice but a tourist trap, city of traders, merchants, speculators, middlemen, promoters, bankers– jeweled slippers in the pigeon shit. This, Bruno, is the Grand Canal, swamp scum, litter-. that’s old Michael toting a six-pack to his rented room, the window shades arc drawn on Teena and her lesbian lover, tears will flow– 0 Sappho of the golden eyes–this door conceals a love of three; those eyes in the window, broken mirrors in an empty room, rags and ashes, old newspapers, doors rot on their hinges, and the old go mad Numbly contemplating death. hand reaches out to hand, a child dreams in a fever; old Cap in his tiny shack reads by a ship’s lantern– upturned faces under water, eyes Like a stunned carp’s. This bridge has no approach no destination, hung between two hells. Was there thunder in your heart the night you pulled the crystal vault of heaven down! And Tintoretto’s angel hosts lost endlessly in endless space with Thor and Adonai–they burned you for it Bruno. This Venice of the West was born a bastard
Misshapen in tile womb out of some old world whore of Commerce by P. T. Barnum bred–when business and the arts are mated, money takes the Muse to bed
Bonds debentures title deeds wrapped up in flags and sermons, stamped with the Great Seal of the State; the Laws and Statutes are his alphabet his capital all upper case, cock o’ the walk Three gilded balls his ensign out of Calvin Luther by the dark satanic mills now white supreme, on every dotted line his X has sealed your doom–and mine– He’ll kill you for it again, Bruno, the Xian Gentleman, his AM FM TV movie image multiplied is stinking up a continent– the commercial more and more becomes the show. The wind has changed, the dry Santana hot breath of the desert: it’s the Hyperion sewer you smell: your Venice was no rose bed open sewers and tanners vats the fish wives haggling, sweat and fear, the smell that money makes The windows darken, only the street lights and the torches now, our Venice sleeps; Your eyes burn, Bruno, scanning the heavens, vacant now; no angels hymn the heavenly court, we are rational men; Those are landing lights, a Constellation blinking to a touchdown, that was not thunder but a sonic boom, our safety lies in speed, they tell us, death on wings the enemy is crafty, never sleeps And godless, cobalt is his brain and poison gas, his heart burns liquid hydrogen, his breath is solar flame his fingers are a million secret spies we are his image–sanctified. The latest satellite arcs across the sky, a star whose manger is a launching pad, the child a robot cradled in steel arms, his halo liquid fire his brain an electronic brain, Our wise men bring no frankincense and myrrh, no visions wrung from love or pain but only slide rules plots top secret plans, we do not stone our prophets, Bruno, we give them target dates. Agnosco, ergo sum; we’ve come full cycle. Cohesion, color, sounds waves and radiations: res extensa. Giordano Bruno chemically changed by thermal action, Jesus On the cross: a rearrangement of the particles. Our men of science will define the event: a thermodynamically stable configuration known as death. Why has the music stopped? Look back, the Procession fades away, a slow dissolve, you stand alone; your lidless eyes are indrawn lost in contemplation like a foetal sleep Where are the drums and trumpets? I had thought to hear the papal legate read out your doom in bastard latin hear a shout go up to heaven with your flames. I should have known; A dead God needs no crucified to sanctify his name; no faith, ergo, no auto da fe; we have a choice of trivial martyrdoms: if we must die for truth we die self-slain. Your image fades and there is nothing now only the blind window panes of broken houses telephone poles that lean against the moon cracked pavements sinking into foul canals I turn, retrace my steps to Windward and the Ocean Front, the pigeons of St. Marks Hotel are roosting in tile plaster niches, one lonely jukebox whimpers from an open tavern door “I love you baby, why do you treat me so mean? “ A single wino staggers down the empty street, I cross the beach and look out to sea. “Sophocles long ago heard it on the Aegean”–here too Many a truth-tormented Oedipus has reached land’s end, walked in for reasons Sophocles never dreamed and made his last incestuous marriage with the sea, as Bruno made his with the flame. Homeward bound I stop for coffee at the Greek’s, scan the morning papers– This night’s business may have meaning for our time-a poem or a play? I have work to do. I think (to paraphrase) I shall not drown myself today.

Day trip from Lisbon to Fátima
The city of Fátima is located in the northeasterly direction from Lisbon and occupies the geographical center of the nation. The distance between these two cities is around 127.3 km and are mainly linked by the A1 highway. It mainly serves as a Catholic pilgrimage site. Check our experience from Fatima.
What to do in Fátima
Some of the places you might consider visiting while in the city are:
Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima: As the name suggests, this is a Marian shrine and a pilgrimage center at the same time. This shrine and pilgrimage complex is the place where the Virgin Mary supposedly appeared to three children. It contains a basilica and a chapel. You might want to know more about Catholicism by spending some of your time here.
Mira de Aire Caves: Fátima is also home to some natural wonders. The Mira de Aire Caves are examples of such. These are limestone caves which have some underground lake beneath. In the caves are some stalactites, stalagmites, waterfall, and an underground lake. It also doubles up as a summer water park. This is the place to detach and relax from your busy schedules.
Where to stay and eat
Just like the Porto above, Fátima is also home to several great accommodation facilities. Below are two of the most notable facilities of that kind:
Hotel Fátima: Hotel Fátima is a laid-back hotel cum lodging facility. It is located at a 3-minute walk from the famous Sanctuary of Fátima shrine and around 4 kilometers from the Grutas da Moeda caves. Some of the rooms have balconies which provide you with the opportunity to gaze at the city skyline. It also provides some casual restaurants and a cozy bar as well.
Hotel Santa Maria: This Hotel is a modern accommodation facility which features modern rooms and suites. The setting comes in the form of a refined arty hotel. This is not to mention that it comprises a restaurant and a bar which offers some free breakfast. If you have enough to spend, this is the place to consider spending some of your time.
How to get to Fátima from Lisbon
Road Trip: As stated above, Fátima is located at a distance of 127.3 km due north of Lisbon. The two cities are connected by the A1 highway which is wide and smooth. As such, a typical journey between the two destinations shall take around 1 and a half hours only.
Air: Both cities have airports. To get to Fátima by air, you will take a flight at Lisbon Portela Airport and land at the Fátima airport. The average flight time is around 20 minutes only.
Rail: The city of Fátima really has no railway station. However, a station is not too distant from the city. You will hence require a shuttle bus to connect you to the Caxarias station to Fátima. Alternatively, you may opt for a taxi. Expect the entire journey to last slightly over two hours only.
This site is useful for Bus options. Check this one for European Rail Travel.

Day trip from Lisbon to Sintra
Aspect of the castle exterior (part of)
Sintra is a resort city which is patched atop the foothills of Sintra Mountains. For a long time, it served as the royal sanctuary of the monarchy of Portugal. The city features some Moorish architecture, pastel-colored villas, palaces, and elaborate tile work. As such, it has numerous facilities for your exploration. Explore our experience from Sintra.
Where to go in Sintra
Park and Pena National Palace: The hilltop Romanticist Pena palace is situated in a parkland. It was constructed in the 19th-century and sits atop a high rock which doubles up as a former monastery site. The facility itself is breathtaking to gaze at and also offers wonderful opportunities for photography and leisure. While you are there it would be nice to visit Quinta da Regaleira.
Inner court yard
Cabo da Roca: Cabo da Roca is a natural coastal viewpoint as well as a lighthouse. At this site, you can look abroad and afar because it offers a good viewpoint to gaze at the adjacent sea. It is a part of the national park system and is complete with a lighthouse which also houses a tourism office.
The Moorish Castle (Castle of Moors): In walking distance from Pena, you need to visit the ruins of this castle, mostly for the view to the valley. There is no museum or such in there, but the view is stunning!
Where to stay and eat
In this city are numerous eateries, hotels, and accommodation facilities. Being many and varied, you are certain to find one which appeals to your unique circumstance or pocket size. Listed and explained below are some two of the most outstanding facilities of those kinds:
Tivoli Palácio de Seteais: Tivoli Palácio de Seteais contains numerous elegant rooms in a hotel setting. The facility itself is a refurbished 18th-century palace. It serves chic dining, a bar, and a pool, alongside many other amenities. Its convenient location to and from many other nearby attractions make it all the more desirable to visit.
