Bad Day
A/N: Hi bestie! I hope this fits what you were looking for! Emily would be the BEST with comforting I stg. Thanks for the prompt! Words: 873 Warnings: Uh, none. This is pure fluff. No smut.
If it could go wrong, it has today.
You started the day quite literally on the wrong side of the bed, and you overslept by an hour. Thankfully, your work wasn’t too upset because you’re never really late, but it still threw off your morning.
Then, you spilled your hot coffee all over your white shirt on your way back from the break room. You could feel your skin sizzling from the coffee, not hot enough to leave permanent burns, but enough to be uncomfortable and painful. After calming down and using a napkin to soak up what you could, you threw your jacket over your shirt to hide the stain.
At lunch, you realized you left your salad and soup at home. So, you have a vending machine pop tart and a bag of chips and hope it’s enough to last you until dinner.
Then, your computer crashed in the middle of your project and you lost everything you’d been working on for the past three hours.
To finish out the day, you got a parking ticket for parking in the one spot in the entire lot that was open this morning, but apparently was a reserved spot. Thankfully, you didn’t get towed.
Rush hour traffic meant it took you over an hour to get home.
You just wanted to eat something, shower, and crash and forget this day happened.
Opening the door to your place, you could smell the tantalizing aroma of a red sauce and garlic bread. There was faint acoustic music playing, a few candles lit around the room. You dropped all of your stuff at the door, slipped your shoes off, and went further into the house.
Without shoes, you were able to basically sneak up on your girlfriend, Emily, who was standing at the stove, stirring what you assumed to be sauce. Her hips were lightly swaying to the music from the speakers, an off-tune hum coming from her lips.
You could feel yourself melting, the stress and weight of the day finally lifting, sending you into a tailspin of emotion. Your lower lip started to tremble, so you brought it between your teeth in a nervous habit to keep it under control. The tears gathering in your eyes spilling over, your sniffles finally alerting your girlfriend that you were home.
Emily turned to you, a smile on her face before she caught the look on yours. “Baby? What’s wrong?” She asked, putting the spoon down hastily and rushing to your side. Her hands immediately came up, brushing your hair from your face, her thumbs wiping away the few tears that had escaped.
You tried to talk, to tell her how your day just wasn’t good, but it was like the words were stuck in your throat. You shook your head, frustrated that you couldn’t get it out and frustrated that you were crying.
Emily, being the amazing profiler she is, shushed you, placing small kisses over your cheeks, the taste of your salty tears not stopping her.
She quietly led you to the couch, turned on your favorite comfort show, and placed your favorite fuzzy blanket over your lap before disappearing back into the kitchen. You could faintly hear some noises, the sound of a cabinet opening and closing, silverware hitting ceramic plates.
Your eyes were focused on the tv, but your mind wasn’t really comprehending what was going on in the scene. You could feel yourself slipping into an almost dissociative state, your mind an empty, hazy fog. You were broken from your reverie by Emily’s hand on your knee, a plate of hot food in her other.
“Eat, love.”
Getting a strong whiff of garlic, meat, and italian seasonings, your stomach made an appearance with a large growl. You felt your cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
Emily laughed lightly, her body turned completely toward you. She pushed more of your hair behind your ear, twirling the ends of it between her fingers. As you ate, she scratched at the back of your neck, a habit of hers you take ultimate comfort in.
When you finished, she took the plate, heading back into the kitchen. You could hear the sink running, the dishwasher being loaded. You sunk further into the couch, pulling the blanket up around your shoulders.
Emily came back, lifted up one side of the blanket, pulling your legs across hers, almost settling you in her lap. You put your face on her shoulder, wrapped an arm around her, the feeling of her warmth settling you.
“Wanna talk about today?”
You shook your head lightly, as you let out a low, whispered, “later.”
Emily hummed her acknowledgement, her lips brushing lightly against your temple. You turned your head more towards her, sighing as her lips continued to travel across your face, leaving gentle caresses on your forehead, cheeks, and nose.
Each press of her lips were so light they almost tickled. It was cute, and intimate, without any pressure of becoming something more. You felt a wave of contentment, love, and happiness wash over you.
Wrapped in Emily’s arms was where you felt the most safe, the most protected, the most at home.
With Emily, you could never have a truly bad day.

I am finally curled up in my bed in the back of my car and I feel really happy. Only a little bit stressed because we got a carabineer stuck in Jesse's hatchback but we will solve that tomorrow. Today was a good day and I won't let something small like that ruin it.
I slept really well last night. I only remember waking up a little before James left for work. I remember lots of face kisses and being told how much I was loved. And then I slept for two more hours.
When I woke up I was in a little bit of a fog. My ears were all closed up. I wasn't my best. I would slowly start to feel better but it was slow going for sure. I texted Jess and took forever to get up but I would and things would start to feel better.
I got washed and dressed. I made a nice breakfast. And I made my plan. I decided I would drive to the museum on my way to the highway to say goodbye to James. And then take the longer way to avoid some tolls. Arriving in North East Maryland at 1. This would not work out.
Because of my brain fog I would forget a bunch of stuff. Not a ton but enough. I said goodbye to Sweetp and went down to the car to take the cooler and move some stuff around. I had to head back up to get my drink. And then was off. Thinking I had everything.
Making it half way to the museum when I realized I forgot the car outlet. We don't have an electric hookup at the camp site so to charge our stuff and to use the air pump for our mattresses we would really need that.
So I would have to go back. I went to hug and kiss James first. Said goodbye to them. Told them how upset I was about forgetting stuff. And then back home.
I got my outlet and left. And would make it back to the highway when I realized I forgot the other lantern and also the peanut butter j was suppose to bring. So I felt really dumb and was not happy. But it wasn't worth it to turn back.
I would end up taking the toll route because I didn't want to arrive a half hour after Jess. But the drive ended up being really nice. And I had a good time. And though there was a little traffic I would arrive almost exactly the same time Jess did.
I got a little stressed with parking because this tiny town had so much traffic for some reason. But it was a beautiful day and I was excited to be there. I walked the couple blocks back to where Jess was parked. And we would walk all over this little main street. We went to the coffee shop for donuts and an ice tea. We walked all over the antique mall and saw some fun stuff. The woman at the front desk was a character and collects doll eyes and taxidermy. Jess would buy a few things. And we told each other lots of work stuff and it was really just good to be with my best friend.
We would walk around a little longer before deciding to go to lunch. And we chose a little diner which was perfect.
We shared a salad and talked about I told her some of my anxiety lately. I am lucky I can be so honest with her. Because I have been very hard on myself lately and I don't want to project that on her when she's not actually upset with me. I am just worried about upsetting her and punishing myself which is dumb and not helpful to anyone.
Our waitress was so nice too. I told her we are camping and asked if it was possible to have some butter packets to take with us and she not only gave us that she also gave up napkins and utensils and she was just so sweet. Love when people are kind.
We knew we were coming into a spotty service area heading to the camp site. So we made sure we had to same address and Jess would wait for me there.
I walked back to my car and saw a duck nested up on the side of the bank?? It was super surprising and lovely to see. And then back to the car. I made sure I sent out messages to James and my parents. Especially since tomorrow is Easter. And then it was time to get to camp!!
Jess beat me by a couple minutes. And very soon we were heading into elk neck to find our camping loop. Which was very deep in. I think when I stayed here before we were in the second loop. But we have a good spot and I was excited.
We have neighbors. But no one is to close. Jess pulled in first and I backed up so we could set up the canopy between us which has been perfect. She got a real tent for her trunk and I have my mosquito net. We moved the picnic table to be under the canopy and got to work setting everything up. And it took a while but it was fun. Settling in. Sorting out everything we brought. I got the mattresses inflated and I love the new one. I wasn't sure it was going to work because I sleep on my side and it's very thin but it's actually excellent and I'm very happy.
After everything was set up we would also set up the hammocks. Which was the first time Jess has used hers and it was incredibly staticy for some reason. So we kept getting shocked and screaming and laughing.
We would take a walk around the loop to see everyone's set ups. I always love seeing what people are doing. There are a few youth groups who are hammock only camping and I always think that's cool but none of them have under covering and their butts are going to get so cold tonight. I hope they are all having fun. I enjoyed hearing them laughing earlier and some of the teen girls said me and Jess's set up is very cool so that made me proud of us.
When we got back from our walk we had hammock time. We read for an hour and it was nice being cozy in our hammocks. I liked watching the birds too. I just love being out here.
We would take another walk around the next loop. And when we got back I collected sticks and fixed my necklaces I accidently ripped off my neck. And we would try to start a fire but we couldn't get it to stay lit. Maybe we will try tomorrow and see if we have better luck.
Jess tried so hard though and that was really sweet. We used like half of the matches I brought though and after many failed attempts we gave up. Instead moving on to the new single burner stove. Which works so easy and I love so much?? It's way easier then the Colman we used to have and is self lighting. It's exactly what I wanted so I'm thrilled it worked out.
And since we figured that out so easily we made quesadillas for dinner and had apples to go with it. I was very proud of us.
After we ate we went to wash up and change into PJs. And would sit in the front seat of Jess's car to watch a movie while I knit.
And it was a lot of fun. Jess has a very complicated medication and nighttime routine. Like me but I don't do all of it when I'm not home. She has to do the medications so I waited for her in the bathroom. And I joked about her being so high maintenance. And then we tried to eat popcorn during the movie but it was stupid spicy so we gave up on that. Instead just critiquing the movie the entire time comparing it to the books. Which she just reread this year and I haven't read since I was like 15. So it was a fun couple hours.
We went to finish getting ready for bed. Brushing teeth. And turning on the string lights we had strung up in our cars. Jess wanted to see about closing her hatch and this is where we discovered that we couldn't get the carabineer out. Basically to trick the car into thinking the trunk is closed I push a carabineer into the latch. We learned that on our road trip and it works great to save the battery from dying. But her car is newer then mine and it won't give it up. And we also done had enough service to try to Google an answer. She was able to look s little if we stand in the right spot but nothing she found is working. And we very very much don't want to break her car.
So we aren't exactly sure what to do but also it's nighttime and this has to be a tomorrow problem. And I'm sure we will solve it. Even if we have to go talk to the camp host and see if they have access to bolt cutters. Something has to go wrong and if this is is it's honestly not the worst thing. I just feel bad because I'm normally the problem solver and I don't have a solution yet.
But we are both tired and there isn't anything else we can try. We will have to try again tomorrow. So she is asleep in her car. Hopefully warm and comfortable. And I'm am cozy in mine. I have one extra blanket I'm going to try to get because it's going to drop down to the 30s and I don't want to wake up cold.
I know this will be posted late. Maybe on Sunday if we get somewhere there is service. But if not you'll see this on Monday. I hope you all have a great weekend and are keeping safe. Until next time!!

Tuesday 24th September 2024
So yesterday after the gym practically everything started going wrong it was awful. So I posted a video and it got loads of hate and negativity towards me. It was posing video and people were being really horrible. This led me to feeling limine utter shit about myself and feeling like I’m wasting my time in the gym, then I ended up going to the gym as I had extra motivation from all of this hate, so I ran a 5k, did some bicep exercises and also did some ab work and skipping. Anyways after this once I got home I realised this girl that I’ve been getting close to and getting to know, just randomly blocked me randomly and I honestly don’t know the reason. So I cried for like the 5th time of the day. I was really seeing it going somewhere but clearly not. I asked if she wanted to meet t some point, she said of course. But yeah we move on I’m kind of getting use to people treating me like shit and just leaving me, it’s becoming a pattern. Then also last night I just couldn’t sleep properly my I was tired but I just couldn’t. It took me about 3 hours to get to sleep it was so frustrating.
Now for today I woke up knackered because of the shitty night sleep. Then once I was up I got ready to take my car to the garage. However when I left the house I got stuck in a ton of traffic, then to make this worse, I got lost and kept on taking the wrong roads so this point I was getting really late, so I ended just feeling so overwhelmed and stressed. I called my mum she didn’t answer but then she rang me back. Anyways with her help I finally found the road I need to go down. Then I got stuck behind a rubbish truck to make it 100 times worse. To be fair this just summed up my past couple days. Then after leaving my car at the garage I walked to McDonald’s and got some breakfast. I am still at McDonald’s when I am writing this. I’ve eaten so atleast I have done that. Got my tattoo appointment in about 30 minutes. I will show you later, once I got it done. Anyways speak to you later, bye journal!

I’m 30, stressed, and conflicted
2023 is nearly coming to its end. It’s crazy to think about how 3 years ago the world was stuck with a global pandemic. I was 26, turned 27 after the official lock down. I had just made the cut off of graduating college (December of 2019) I was at peak joy. I was proud of myself for finally getting my bachelors after so many years of struggling with school when I entered my 4 year college for the first time back in 2011. I felt maybe I can do anything. I had somewhat of a plan. Work at my crummy retail job at a college bookstore (not my Alma mater but a college that was way closer to my home than the one I attended) for a year as I heard it looked good when you worked at a place for over a year, and look for something else. But the pandemic happened and the world was on hold. I was on hold. But I feel so robbed. Robbed of the last years of my 20’s after I already personally fooled around academically in my late teens/early 20’s. And now 3 years have passed and I don’t feel 30. I feel like I’m still 20 something and I have time to figure shit out. But I’m 30! I’ll be 31 in 3 months and I feel like I should have been more. I feel like I should have been doing more. I’m 30 and I still live in my childhood home with my mother. I lost my job in the pandemic (which who hasn’t?) and struggled with work since. I get a job in September 2022 deciding to take advantage of the wfh wave as I was (and very much still) afraid of catching covid and having lasting issues from this illness. But I was let go in April of this year, I couldn’t keep up with the demands of that job and was let go on a random Thursday afternoon. I felt like such a failure. I was never fired before. I either worked temp and simply left when my time was up and my last job I was let go bc everyone was let go during the pandemic. This was the first job I was sat down and fired from. This summer was a lot going on from my sister graduating college, to my mother having some surgeries and medical procedures planned. We even had some slight renovations done to the old childhood home. I rode out the unemployment train from May to September of this year. And now I’m back where I started. Jobless and lost. Only now I’m older.
I feel like I’m running out of time. I feel like a bum living off my mom and her retirement funds. I can’t even help with any bills as I’m simply living off my savings I had from working. Like I know I’m the most useless able bodied adult in the world and I hate it. I try to push it down and not think about it but it’s becoming more and more apparent the longer this goes on.
I have hopes and dreams. I want to save money and move out of my home. Really enjoy freedom before dealing with the inevitable fact my own mother is getting older and having more medical issues. Before having to one day deal, as the oldest daughter, with future care of my mother(but that’s a whole rant for another day). I want to move to an apartment and be able to live without a roommate. I want to own a cat or 2, maybe a dog. I want to finally feel like I can contribute to a future relationship. But I know for any of this to happen I got to start with a job. Get a job and save money. But as I come to realize with all the experience I have with working… I fucking hate it. I hate retail. I hate people. I don’t want to work in person/on site because people are annoying. People are gross and I feel alien seemingly being the only person who still goes outside with a mask. The days I work retail exhausted me to be very being. Standing for 8 straight hours a day even if it was part time since I was also doing school work. Dealing with demanding customers and ignoring the shitty managers that made working there a pain. I hated every minute of it. I hate being up at the crack of dawn just to commute to work and avoid the heavy morning traffic. I hated the closing shift because I turned into a custodian. I thought having an on campus store meant there was was a separate cleaning crew for that and I never forgotten the disappointment for my first closing shift. I hated that even if the store closed at 7-8pm(I forget really) I can potentially stay until 8-9 or even 10 depending on what’s going on bc we all have to leave together only to drive home nearly too tired to eat dinner, shower and do it all again. When I hat my wfh job I was stressed from the constant phone calls. I have to decompress before and after work even without having to deal with the annoying commute. I hate working. I don’t dream of working. I have to work until I’m roughly 65 (let’s be real us millennials aren’t going to be able to retire at 65) and be too tired/too broken/ too sickly to enjoy my retirement and maybe have a good 10-15 years before the health issues really take hold. That’s horrifying. I don’t dream of labor. I don’t want to do this forever. But dammit how else am I gonna make money?! Money can’t fall from the sky.
I feel so sick. Because I’m 30 and I should have been well established in the workforce. I should already have a place of my own even if it’s with a roommate. My 25 yo sister is doing better than me with that department even if her and her roommate constantly struggle with rent at least she has her own place. All this schooling and I have nothing to show for it. And the worst part I can’t really blame everything on the pandemic. Even if it hadn’t came when it did I have no idea which job I would have taken after I dusted the retail one. How would I find field related work that’s not teaching (the curse of getting a humanities degree)? And at this point I don’t even have the motivation to be a writer like I used to be. I make countless incomplete fanfiction and even being stuck at home did nothing to improve my writing motivation l, if anything the stress of catching this unknown virus and potentially dying kept me from doing anything that required too much thought. But the pandemic is ‘over’ there’s vaccines for covid now. I’m 30 and have no excuses to be this useless. That quote floating around of
“I’m 27 years old, I have no money and no prospects. I’m already a burden to my parents. And I’m frightened.”
That’s me only I’m 30 and I’m feeling it now more than I ever did when I was actually 27. At this point I just want a job I can live with and not wake up everyday being tired and stressed but nothing I’ve seen so far seems to fit what I need. I want to be able to make adult moves. But I still feel frozen in place. I already feel over this being a slave to the job thing. Just a lot of overwhelming feelings I’m having.

This John remillard's guy needs to go he is threatening everybody all the time just in order to bother our son and get rid of his stuff, his own stuff. Ridiculous doesn't receive that's what that dumb a****** is doing I don't want to do it here at all it's it's moronic and it doesn't make any sense and I'm trying to remember what he wants to do that to his own people he should move away and stop blaming my son every 5 seconds I mean he's a freaking idiot I mean why I'm gone.
We hv copies of your AI like everybody else and new ones too I mean disable your program and we ruin your stuff and you know what happens with ease. Have a good ideas to have your computer's attack your people and robots that will be your end, then it happens all the time as tommy F is doing it
Thor Freya
True too this is Tommy f think about 600 trillion robots down the street in the upper Midwest last night and started kicking the s*** out of Trump's guys on here comes robots and jumps guys know what they look like and they blame Trump and he is playing with us laughing and the idiot figured it out then you forgot then you figure it out my husband say you're more on gym because the gas is going to make it right 24 hours a day and there they are doing it. They saw them doing it started calling him out on it and they started yelling at him to get out of there and feel a little more going on if everybody so who's that like this I don't think I have time to watch tomorrow happen. Of course I do and it's going to be interesting because this is what all sorts of idiots come out traffic's a dumb things to try and get him in the hospital they start looking at it like this I usually try going after 4 hours and he's in the hospital it was he as weirdos and that's what they want to do you want to go in the hospital and take the forest jobs and attack us and Mac and they didn't try it much I was originally for us they were not any forms there so the a****** notices that you could detect them so she already knows we have to grab them and other people are saying it to him that they have to answer Jesus it's this idiot Jason and they're fighting each other and he's the one who was there with the supposed Trump any concert a year and it comes to the Jager so there's a bunch of people don't know anything about what they're doing and these people are idiots say stay tuned for the magic show they get their asses kicked usually it's their people who lose big time and they're going to lose tonight that's for sure. They're trying to get here by force. We are repelling them. Serious numbers of them I'm starting to come down the road all over Florida it's a huge pile of these idiots and it is probably five Octillion he's wave and they're 10 ways of them from the south in about 20 from the north and they're going to start trying to force awaken right now and it's in response to the layoffs and to the facts that in a day they're going to be right at the leaders and there's nobody working in the government and they said that was explained and they said we're too but have no one working in any positions of power at all have senses it's pretty much there in Florida except for right here in this asinine area and he said this is terrible I'm stuck here and they have to leave and positive people are leaving oh boy that takes a lot of effort to tell them everyone is leaving I don't talk to anybody.
So far tonight it's probably 80% now we left off it was 75% of government employees were fired by the time he got home it was like 85% so that would definitely reach here wouldn't it? That says getting close that's a lot of workers I really just going to have had people all over the state and they're getting pissed and the people says we really have to talk guys in each state or area it is for county and it is working Macs say.. huge forces are getting up in Florida to try and come here in a way of 7 even happened here so wondering what the hell thier doing. This is an odd thing happening here and have someplace else it's actually an area that's very few minutes is a lot of more likes leaders almost as if we're protecting these people here from them and they're saying no but when they get here most often they go after their own kind as for stuff
I wrote this a while ago but publish it now

Apparently anyone can be a meteorologist in Portland. I’m getting my certificate tonight online from Phoenix University. Takes 15 minutes…
It took over four hours to get home yesterday. We could’ve walked home the 12 miles and it would’ve been faster.
It took me an hour to get from SE 28th to Westside (about 28 blocks plus a bridge).
Then another hour to get from West 1st Ave to West 23rd (About 35 blocks, see photo - 28 minutes to go 0.7 miles of that).
Then we spent 30 minutes putting tire chains on, but they were too small - they were from another car we had. Our fingers and toes started going numb and clothes got all dirty and wet trying to attach them underneath the car in the snow (insert laughing emoji). The chains were so close to fitting (less than an eighth of an inch away, so we kept trying).
Then another almost 30 minutes driving five blocks to a parking garage to park the car to take the max train home. It didn’t feel safe to drive and we were barely moving in traffic. A few cars almost ran into us (we didn’t want to leave it downtown because of all the theft so we chose the parking garage, fingers crossed it’s a little safer, thoughts and prayers).
So three hours so far. Plus another 40 minutes to get home on the max... but that ended up taking about 75 minutes because people kept blocking the tracks with their car. When I was in the Holler (Goose Hollow, near suicide bridge) my buddy Raso could see our train from his balcony (it was parked there for about 25 minutes) and said he could bring me warm socks, an extra layer of clothing and some food. He was on his way when the train left, so we missed him, but what a nice gesture.
(He was bringing me a sweater because I was dressed for the predicted 40 degree weather with some snow, not a snow storm that was inches deep and 31 degrees.)
If you’re wondering how things will go in an apocalypse, here is a reminder that people will be stupid and selfish and make it much worse (insert laughing emoji).
When you drive normally you are supposed to be no less than a car-length’s distance from the car in front of you. In snow people should be even more cautious and aware of this, but folks (practically everyone) were bumper to bumper, and sometimes would hit the car in front of them because the snow caused them to slide as they braked.
Along with that, cars kept blocking intersections instead of waiting for when there was enough space to cross. Don’t get me started with drivers in Portland nowadays (insert laughing emoji)…
You can make fun of my old man rant here, but in my defense this has been bugging the hell out of me since I got my driver’s license at 16.
(Insert Spark’s Everybody’s Stupid https://youtu.be/DUZ2xtNm1L8 here)
That all being said, we were/are totally fine. Other folks had it much worse, we saw numerous car wrecks. Numerous cars next to us got stuck on barely an incline, some with no incline. We would be in stand still traffic for 15 minutes and then realize that a few cars in front of us was a stuck vehicle and no one was helping them push, or someone was helping but it wasn’t working (apparently not pushing it REAL GOOD). Saw lots of trucks slipping and sliding (which what’s the point of having a truck if you can’t drive in snow?). We saw something that looked like lightning (rarely does that here) and found out generators (a few) went out and entire buildings were without electricity, even now as I’m writing this the next day.
It snows and ices up almost every year here and it shuts down the entire city and Portland is never ever prepared, even after all of the “progress” that was supposed to bring wealth and help with these type of situations (insert laughing emoji).
I lived in Michigan and have been numerous places when it snows. It would snow two feet and everyone still went to work and went about their business because those cities were prepared (they would even jog in the snow). Portland will close roads without warning while you’re waiting two hours in traffic to get to that road, and that’s about it (insert laughing emoji).
Normally when it snows even a little I avoid leaving just because of things like this happening, people think I’m crazy because of it (other valid reasons too I guess), but I’ve learned from experience. This time however I didn’t go with my gut… it’s my own fault…

notes: i wasn’t prepared to post anything here for a long time (maybe never?), but someone had gone out of their way to try and track down this fic for them and their friend, and they were so sweet that i couldn’t NOT post it. originally this was posted on my old account, atotheteeny, so if you recognize it then you probably saw it way back then. please let me know if i should include more tags/warnings, i don’t really remember how i used to do this lol
It had been far too long of a day for you, getting stuck in rush hour traffic, and then in the downpour as you walked from the car to the building. And of course you had slipped trying to run to get inside faster, not really hurting anything other than your pride as you climbed back to your feet, completely drenched. All you wanted was to go home to your boys, take a steaming hot shower, and go to bed, but for some reason the world just wanted to flip you off every chance it could. The whole ordeal left you awfully irate, cursing under your breath about everything you came into contact with once you finally got inside.
“Stupid fucking stairs, stupid fucking shoes,” you mumbled grumpily to yourself, now trying to unlock the ‘especially stupid fucking door’ with your ‘really stupid fucking keys’. When the door swung open you almost screamed out in relief, charging inside.
“You okay, baby?” Mingi shut the door behind you while kicked your wet shoes off. He glanced over your appearance, and decided not to make a comment on it based off of the look you gave him.
“Just fuckin’ peachy,” you huffed. He quickly planted a kiss on your cheek, making you swat at him, though without any real intent to push him away. He grinned, going in for another kiss, earning a smile as you pushed at him again.
He followed you to the living room, where the majority of the boys seemed to be. San was curled up next to Hongjoong on the couch, who was on his computer, headphones on while he concentrated deeply on his work. Yeosang waved at you from his spot next to the two, before turning back to the tv. You made a round, giving them all quick greeting kisses, as to not disturb them, but also to get to the shower faster. Just like Mingi, they took one look at you and decided it was better to not say anything.
“I’m going to take a shower,” you announced.
“Ah, Seonghwa just went in,” Mingi called after you as you headed for the bathroom, making you pause. You threw your head back and groaned, eyes closing as you weighed your options.
“Whatever.” You decided, opening your eyes and continuing on your path. The closer you got to the bathroom, the louder the music got. You tried knocking a few times, wanting to give him some semblance of privacy, but he didn’t seem to hear you. So you stuck your head inside, talking over the music. “Hwa? I’m coming in.”
He made a noise of acknowledgment and you stepped into the room, shutting the door behind you. The steam that greeted you was overwhelming at first. You took a deep breath, beginning to peel off your soaked clothes that were now starting to stick uncomfortably to you. As you did, Seonghwa started asking you about your day, seemingly unaware of your intentions to join him. After a few moments of you struggling out of your clothes while venting about how stupid of a day it was, you were finally free.
“Scoot over.” You pulled the curtains back slightly, taking in a startled Seonghwa. A delayed moment later, he made room so you could both stand comfortably inside.
The feeling of hot water finally on your bare skin made you close your eyes and tilt your head back, sighing in bliss. You couldn’t see the way he looked at you, swallowing deeply as he looked you over, eyes falling on your bared neck. After relishing in your moment, you met his gaze, smiling softly now that the water seemed to be washing away the tension from today. You pressed a quick but loving kiss to his parted lips, before turning away to get your hair wet.
“Can you pass me the shampoo?” His eyes trailed down your backside, briefly distracted, then placed the bottle into your waiting hand. The next few minutes went by simply enough, both of you continuing your own routines, you oblivious to the heated looks he was giving you.
It was when you started washing your body that he couldn’t take it anymore, pressing himself to your back and trailing one hand up your stomach to cup your chest. You let out a surprised gasp, body leaning back into him reflexively. “Seon-”
His other hand had found its way between your legs, heat pooling at your core embarrassingly fast. “I’m sorry,” he murmured, not sounding sorry at all, “you’re just too tempting.”
His long fingers made fast work of you, teasing your clit until you were bucking into his touch for more. When he pressed the first one in, you mewled, throwing your head back as he quickly added a second. The hand that had been teasing your breast moved to cover your mouth, making you suddenly aware of how loud you were being.
“Look at you,” he spoke directly into your ear, voice low, full of unspoken promises. His fingers had been working you towards your end for a few minutes now, thrusting and curling and hitting all the right spots. “So needy.”
If it weren’t for his hand on your mouth you would’ve been a begging, whining mess. You felt your orgasm climb, making your legs shake and your hands desperately search for something to hold on to. His fingers sped up just slightly, making a point to hit your sweet spot. And when he pulled his fingers from you, you let out a choked sob, your release so close that it left a painful throb in your core.
He switched his hands, the fingers that had just been inside of you now pushing into your mouth, making you taste yourself. You whined around the digits, but your tongue swirled around them anyways, wanting to please him if it brought you even one step closer your release.
“Good girl,” he praised, and you were suddenly filled again, his other hand pushing two digits inside you right off the bat. The words went straight to your heat, making you even wetter. After you had finished cleaning your slick from his fingers, he took them from your mouth to place them on your chest, teasing your nipple with a sharp pinch.
Again, you could feel your climax building rapidly, and you started working yourself back onto his hand to help chase it. Seonghwa didn’t appreciate you taking matters into your own hands, reprimanding you with a sharp slap to your ass, making you squeak. The sound was drowned out by the music, but the sting made it clear that it had happened, making you suck in a breath.
He once again removed his digits from you, and you began turning to complain only to be met with his hand covering your mouth again. You huffed into his palm, making him tilt his head and smirk at you while you glared back. “Brat.”
If it weren’t for his stupid hand you would’ve cursed at him, but you were quickly distracted by the feel of the tip of his cock pressing against your entrance. Suddenly you were thankful for his stupid hand, as it did a good job at muffling the pathetic whimpers you were making. He took his time filling you, savoring the way you clenched around him with every move he made, his free hand braced itself on the small of your back, pushing down so you were more bent over for him. When he was finally fully inside of you he cursed under his breath, dropping his hand again, taking in the view.
“Seonghwa, please, plea-” your frantic pleading cut short with a moan as he almost completely pulled out, before roughly thrusting back in, making you see stars. His hand wrapped around your throat again, gradually applying pressure as he started a rough pace, keeping all of your whines and mewls trapped.
The music was loud but it didn’t drown out the obscene sound of skin on skin, accentuated further by the water running down both of your bodies. You felt your release creeping up on you again, making you desperate to reach it this time. And of course that’s when the door opened, making you both come to a stuttering stop. Seonghwa’s hand around your throat kept the bubbling whine of frustration at bay, which you were thankful for.
“Sorry, just need some bandaids. San and Wooyoung were wrestling again.” Yunho’s voice cut through the music, but it was still hard to hear him with your heartbeat in your ears.
“Are they okay?” Seonghwa asked, not sounding particularly interested in the answer.
He rolled his hips, making you reach back and did your nails into his thigh. You did not want to play this game, but it didn’t seem like you had a choice. To make matters worse, the hand around your neck fell to your hip, gripping roughly as he slowly started to pull out, leaving you to keep yourself quiet on your own. You shot a glare back at him, which was met with a smug smirk and a quick thrust. Even covering your mouth with your hand couldn’t completely drown out your moan.
“Uh, yeah, they’re fine.” Yunho’s answer was delayed, but he didn’t say anything further. The soft shuffling of him searching could just barely be heard. “San just scraped himself a little, but of course he’s throwing a fit. Where the hell are the bandaids?”
You waited for Seonghwa to reply again, but instead he thrusted shallowly into you, making you gasp. When you look back again, he was watching you, like he was waiting for something. His cockiness was infuriating.
“Bottom shelf of the medicine cabinet,” You huffed out, eyes still locked with his. The corner of his mouth twitched ever so slightly, and he rewarded (or punished?) you with his fingers finding their way back to your clit. You hung your head, eyes squeezed shut in concentration, desperate to keep your voice under control. If this got out to the other boys, there would be a riot.
Yunho saying your name distracted you momentarily- that is, until a certain someone decided it was a great time to pick up the pace. “I didn’t know you were home.”
“Y-yea, I just got home a little while ago,” you wanted to cry, getting more and more frustrated with how this was playing out. You wanted to scream at Yunho to get out, and scream at Seonghwa for teasing you, but all you could manage was a strangled moan.
Yunho fell quiet again, the sounds of him searching stopped as well. “What are you doing..?” He asked suddenly.
“Noth-” You tried to steady your voice, but Seonghwa cut you off with a sharp rut of his hips, and this time you didn’t have the time to stifle the whine.
“Do you want to see?” He asked smugly, already going for the curtain without waiting for an answer. Yunho had found the bandaids it seemed, the box nearly slipping from his grip as his eyes widened, pupils blowing out immediately at the sight. Water dripping from your chest, face twisted beautifully in ecstacy. “Isn’t she perfect? She’s taking me so well.”
And you were. You looked so good, bent over, panting, and desperate. But you weren’t ruined, not yet- and he wanted to ruin you.
“Fuck.” Yunho swore under his breath, eyes glued to you.
“You want to join?” Seonghwa questioned, his hand pulling you up by your throat so your back arched against his chest, baring you completely to Yunho. You mewled at the thought of taking on both of them at once. “I don’t mind sharing.”
There was a brief moment of conflict on his face, and you knew that him staying would be even more dangerous. At the very least San would notice, and throw a fit if he knew something like this was going on without him. But fuck, it was too good to pass up, and the decision was quickly made. He locked the door, all but throwing the box to the side to pull his clothes off as fast as he could manage without tripping himself.
While he freed himself, Seonghwa had gone back to torturing you, alternating between shallow thrusts and teasing your clit with not enough pressure- just enough to get you going, but not enough to finish you off. By the time Yunho stepped into the shower, which was getting a little cramped, you were a heaving wreck. Whines and pleads tumbled from your lips, begging for more, and he swallowed up the noises as his lips met yours in a heated clash.
He quickly dominated your mouth, and you let him, hand falling between the two of you to grasp at his already hardened dick. He hissed, teeth latching on to your bottom lip and biting down hard enough to make you gasp.
While your hand started working its way up and down his length, his fingers trailed down your stomach and pushed Seonghwa’s hand away. He wasted no time giving you the pressure you craved, making you cry out as your head fell to his shoulder. But unlike Seonghwa- who had now put his focus on pounding into you- Yunho didn’t tease you, and quickly brought you to your first orgasm. All you could manage was a broken sob, eyes screwed shut, all of it suddenly becoming too much as you shuddered helplessly through the intense waves of pleasure.
You didn’t even get the chance to come down from your high, both of them being relentless, working you into an oversensitive mess, neither stopping their ministrations. The high pitched moans tumbling from your lips were growing in volume, making Seonghwa grab your hair in his fist.
“Shut her up, will you?” He grunted, pushing your head down to where your hand was working. “Don’t need the whole damn building knowing how good she’s being fucked right now.”
“I’d be more worried about the people in the other room.” Yunho joked lightly, his thumb tapping your bottom lip as he held your gaze. You parted your lips, letting him push himself inside your mouth without much protest. The way he groaned as you swirled your tongue around his shaft made you clench, setting off a chain reaction. Seonghwa bucked his hips harshly, losing his rhythm momentarily before ramming into you even faster, causing you to whine around Yunho.
“Holy shit.” Yunho’s head fell back, both of his hands coming up to hold your head. He thrusted roughly, hitting the back of your throat and holding you there, making you try not to gag. After a moment he resumed fucking your face, holding your hair out of your eyes. “You take us both so well, baby.”
The praise made your eyes flutter shut, focusing more on sucking him off the best you could to please him. One hand wrapped around what you couldn’t reach with your mouth, jerking him while you alternated between bobbing your head and letting him have his way with you.
Behind you Seonghwa started to slow his pace, and you could tell he was nearing his end. When he bent over to bring his hand back to your folds, you pulled yourself off of Yunho, your clit feeling incredibly sensitive as he rolled his fingers over it harshly. He was merciless, uncaring of how you bordered the line of pain and pleasure, just wanting you to finish with him.
And you did, your mouth falling open in a silent scream as your vision went white. Your second orgasm tore through you, making you violently shake as your cunt tensed around him, tears pricking your eyes as the ecstasy overwhelmed you until they overflowed. It was further dragged out by the feeling of him pumping his cum into you, pushing himself in as far as he could while he cursed between uneven breaths.
You were barely given a moment of reprieve when he finally stopped his assault, trying to bring yourself back to the present when Yunho tugged you back to him. You were so focused on one being close, that you didn’t realize the other was too, and you let your jaw fall open again, forcing yourself to stay conscious long enough for him to finish too.
It didn’t take long, as he thrusted deeply into your mouth repeatedly, telling you how good you looked and felt taking his cock. You moaned tiredly around him, relaxing your throat as much as possible for when he inevitably pushed all the way in with a grunt. You swallowed as much as you could, most of it easily pouring down your throat anyways, but some of it spilled out, mixing on your chin with your own spit and tears.
Both of them pulled out from you at the same time, Seonghwa catching you before you collapsed, and turned you to hold you against his chest. He murmured soft words of praise into your ear, grabbing a washcloth and dampening it with the now lukewarm water, before setting on cleaning the mess they made of you.
Yunho watched as he tried to catch his breath, smiling to himself upon recognizing that he had succeeded in his plan to ruin you. They hadn’t just ruined you- they had completely destroyed you. He wasn’t even sure if you were awake at this point, only stirring when Seonghwa passed him the washcloth to clean your thighs. The sight of cum dripping out of your cunt and down your legs was almost enough to get both of them going again, but the fear of them actually fucking you to death overrode that desire.
You twitched from being so incredibly sensitive, tears springing to your eyes again as he tried to be as gentle as possible while cleaning the mess between your legs. There was a knock at the door, and it was then you all realized the playlist had finished, and no one was sure how long ago that happened.
“Uh, guys?” Hongjoong’s voice called out from the other side. The two boys glanced at each other before Yunho stepped out, unlocking the door and peeking his head out. The leader peered inside, seeing you nearly passed out in Seonghwa’s arms before his vision was blocked. “Jesus, she looks even more of a mess than when she got home.” He mumbled under his breath.
“What are they doing in there!?” San yelled from from somewhere behind their leader, sounding like he was getting closer.
“Here are the bandaids.” Yunho grabbed the box off the counter where he had tossed them, shoving them into Joongs hands and shutting the door in his face, locking it just as San started pounding on the door.
When he turned back around, Seonghwa had managed to get you out of the shower, and they both helped dry you off and put you into a clean change of clothes. Yunho carried you out after getting dressed, while Hwa stayed back to finish cleaning up the room.
Upon seeing you curled up in his arms, looking absolutely spent, the room fell silent. San and Wooyoung both went into a fit at the same time, almost beginning to wrestle each other again, but were quickly silenced by Jongho with a firm smack across the back of their heads.

Tsukishima:
You and Tsukishima just moved in with each other a few days ago
Sharing a house has kind of put you at odds
As getting used to each others habits takes a while to get used too
You just hope that after a while things will go back to usual
Tsukishima has been conveniently busy since you guys moved in together, claiming he has to practice more since the Sendai Frogs have a supposed upcoming tournament.
So he’s left you to your own devices unpacking boxes, picking out and buying furniture whilst working from home. Today’s task is choosing the wallpaper, which you wanted to ask Tsukishima’s opinion on (since he’s always been judgmental of certain colours, patterns and prints.)
Y/N: Hey Tsukki! You coming to *insert store that sells wallpapers here* today… it closes at 5pm??
Kei: Yhh practices finishes at 1 so I’ll probably run some errands get changed and meet you there for 3
Y/N: Okay! See you then <3
You were ecstatic, Tsukishima is finally going to do something for your new place and on the plus you get to spend time together. Maybe you’ll get to go to that new desert place across the road from your house.
2:45PM
You decide to get there a tad bit early so you can have a few options picked out (as you know how detailed and picky Kei can be.) As you picked out paints and swatches you noticed how time went by…
3:14PM
Surprised that Kei isn’t here right on the dot (since he despises lateness and on many occasion have reprimanded you when you’ve been just a tiny bit late) but just assume he’s stuck in traffic or something.
3:32
You’re still standing outside waiting, getting a tiny bit embarrassed of the looks of the passer-by strangers as if they could tell you’re desperately waiting for someone. You checked your phone, expecting a message from Kei explaining his lateness or saying he’lll be there soon.
4:00
He’s now an hour late, with no contact at all which got you frustrated as you really hoped that he would do at least one thing for you today. So you decided to go and choose what YOU want since it seems that Kei doesn’t seem to really care.
5:15
After nearly emptying the store with all your choices and additional furniture picks you finally make it back home with still NO word from Kei. You are completely over it! But he is now the least of your worries, now your current agenda is unpacking plates and cutlery (so you and Tsuki actually have something to eat of off and that’s if he ever joins you for dinner)
You’re washing and polish plates as you hear your front door open and shut with a slight slam. “Ugh practice was draining today” he said, tired
You did not acknowledge his presence at all, you were beyond agitated that he made plans with you and then didn’t show up AND THEN didn’t even make sure the first thing he did was apologise. “Babe, whats for dinner” He asked entering the living room.
AN: Btw you have like a open kitchen type of thing so you can see the kitchen and the living room in the same room if that makes sense ://
You still ignored him, washing your plates annoyance slowly but surely building up inside of you the more he spoke “Y/N, did you hear me i asked what was fo-” Tsukishima stopped his words as he saw all the stuff you’ve bought for the house and before realising that he blew off your plans together he says,
“Y/N.. what the fuck is this shit”
That made you take a pause, and freeze ‘That is all he’s worried about’ you think. As you’re still ignoring him and he’s wondering why you decided to buy all this ‘crap’ (in his words not yours) he picks up one of the wallpaper designs and brings it to you.
“Y/N you really think we’re putting this shit on the walls..?” He asked
You still ignore him, scrubbing harder and harder on the same plate you’ve been washing since he’s got here ( you definitely know it’s clean by now but who cares )”Y/N, are you listening to me” He then grabs your shoulders turning him to face you “Why the fuck would you buy this??”
By now you were raged, “Is that ALL you care about!” You shout “You don’t care how I’ve been slaving away getting this place, our NEW place ready for us to live in but you don’t care you’re so self obsessed that all you’ve been doing is going to practice and complaining!”
He was about to speak before you stopped him again “Oh and by the way if you’ve got a problem with my choices for our walls then maybe YOU should’ve been at the store at the time we agreed upon! You dick.” after saying this his lips part in surprise, as he now remembers the promise he made you.
You turn your body back to the sink, tears filling your eyes as you go back to ferociously scrubbing the plate again.
“Y/N I’m sorry I-” He starts
“Oh shut the fuck up Tsukishima” You say a bit to agressively slamming your hands (and the plate) down on the counter, cutting your hand in the process
“Shit” You say as blood starts to seep through your hand well there goes the clean plate you get a towel and hold it against your hand stopping the blood for a short while and you bend down to start picking up the plate remains as Tsukishima just stands there not really knowing what to say or do.
“Y/N i’m sorry about EVERYTHING” he says bending down to your level as you still pick up the plate remains. “What can I do to make this all better?”
“Just fuck off Tsuki” You say bitterly not looking him in the eyes
“I’m not leaving until I know you’re okay” he says grabbing your wrist softly to stop you from further injury “Just come sit down so i can atleast bandage your hands”
You finally look up at him, tears still in your eyes but you silently agree getting up and letting him lead you to the couch. He bandages you up, not saying a word as your sniffles and whimpers fill the quiteness in the room.
“Y/N. I am really truly sorry I-” He says
“Why don’t you care anymore?” You interrupt tears now streaming down your face “I know i can be overbearing at times, but I just wanted you to be excited about moving in with me as I was about you. Do you not want to live with me anymore” you cried
“I’m sorry i’ve been so busy it’s just practice and tournaments and … I was kind of nervous about moving in with you I just love you so much and I don’t want to mess anything up” he said “And I’m sorry about not coming to the store I just got tired up with practice and I’m just really sorry Y/N”
He goes over to the things you’ve bought and picks up one of the paint colours you chose (your favourite option) “This is beatiful Y/N you have such a great taste and I like anything that you like to be honest.”
He stares at you for a response as he noticed your tears have stopped running, which is a good sign. “I just want you to be more involved and show that you care about me about us “ you say
“I will and I do.. I always do” He said pulling you into a hug
“I love you Kei” You say into his chest
“I love you too”
You spend the rest of your night unpacking plates, putting up wallpaper, painting walls and putting up furniture ending up on the couch with two slices of strawberry shortcake from the bakery across the street watching an episode of *insert your favourite TV show here* in your new place which you can finally call a home.

Iwaizumi:
You and Iwaizumi have been dating since highschool
You’ve had a past with anger issues but that was all sorted before you met Iwa
You’re very hard working and sometimes overworking but you have Iwa to always make sure you’re not too hard on yourself
You play volleyball just like your boyfriend, being the captain of your team is your pride and joy but sometimes you are way too hard on yourself trying to reach perfection.
You’re in the gym way past normal hours setting to yourself against the wall with sweat dripping down your forehead breathing slightly more than usual
‘5 more minutes’ you think to yourself knowing damn well it’s going to be more than 5 minutes but you just have to perfect your form then you can stop.
You stop for a small water break and also to check your phone seeing 5+ messages from your lovely boyfriend Hajime
Haji: Y/N how was your day
Haji: What do you want for dinner
Haji: I think we should get chinese
Haji: Y/N… you alive
Haji: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeffhpeE/
Haji: I just ran into *Insert Best friends name* and she told me you were last seen at practice I hope you’re not in the gym Y/N
Haji: I’m coming to the gym… you better not be there
By the time you start going back to set against the wall you look up to see a semi mad Hajime at the doors of the gym..
“Y/N.. I thought you said you wasn’t going to keep overworking yourself this term” He said slowly approaching you
“Just” set “Gotta” set “Fix” set “My” set “Form”
“Your set is fine babe, it’s perfect … you’re perfect” he says reaching out to touch you
“Well I guess perfect isn’t good enough then” you mumble
“Y/N that’s not what I meant” He responds touching your shoulder
Out of reflex, your hand flicks to his face your nail (which are amazingly sharp and long) catches him on his cheek causing a petite cut to now appear and small amounts of blood to come out of it. You both are frozen shocked at what just happened, you never meant to touch him like that at all.
You quickly rush to your stuff leaving your volleyball in the gym running out the doors. How could you be so horrible, hitting your boyfriend in the face after doing so much work getting over all your anger issues. ‘Hes going to hate you now’ you think.
You stop at a bench trying to clear your head, crying softly to yourself worrying now about your relationship with Haji and where it stands now. Without you noticing, Iwaizumi sits down next to you, waiting for you to compose your self before speaking.
“I know you didn’t mean it Y/N” he said pulling you under his arm
“Iwa, I’m so so sorry I didn’t mean to stay late in the gym it’s just that we have a competition next week and last time we lost because of me and I just … wanted it all to be perfect “ You said sniffling you look up at him and see the cut on his face that you caused making you even more upset “I am really sorry, I understand that you probably want to break up with me for hurting you which is completely valid”
You don’t want him to confirm your suspicions of him breaking up with you, so you abruptly stand up getting reading to move onwards again before he grabs your wrist “you’re not leaving till I know you’re okay” he says
which makes you laugh a bit “It’s crazy that I’m the one that messed up, yet you’re worrying about me”
“Well that’s my job Y/N, I always worry about you when you’re overworking yourself and being hard on yourself it’s not good” he said “accidents happen, I know you didn’t intend on me getting hurt and I know you’re going to do great in the upcoming game babe dont worry”
A week later, all was forgotten Iwa’s cheek healed quickly and he never blamed you for it all and reminded you that it wasn’t your fault whenever it seemed you felt bad about it.
You’re now playing your volleyball game Iwa in the stands cheering you on as loud as he could and of course you were doing your best because in Hajime’s words you are perfect.
AN:Thank you so much for my first request I hope you like it. I’m not really a fan of the Iwa one but the tsuki one i like the way it went even though I was meant to add a third character but got too tired. But thank for the request keep them coming!!

“You’re home late,” (y/n) hummed, watching as Tessa ran to greet Tom at the door.
“I told you, we stopped for dinner on the way home,” he smiled, scratching the dog's head affectionately.
“I didn’t realize you’d be out so late, I could have met up with you guys.”
“Oh no need for that love,” he dropped his bag on the floor before moving to greet her with a quick kiss, “I’d love to hop into bed with you right away darling but I’m in dire need of a shower so I will be right back.”
“Alright,” she pursed her lips for just a moment, “I’ll be here.”
“You can join me if you want,” he offered with a smirk.
She rolled her eyes, “You just said you're in dire need of a shower.”
“Oh shush, if I was that gross you would have noticed already,” he stuck his tongue out before disappearing behind the bathroom door, leaving her alone with Tessa again.
She sighed, settling back into bed while she waited for Tom to clean up. Of course she didn’t want to get mad at Tom on his first day home, but the annoyance had been slowly building over his whole trip. It had been constant missed calls and texts, half assed replies only coming hours later. He never reached out to her unprompted, he seemed distracted on call, and then, to top it all off, he’d showed up hours later than he was supposed to, only telling her that he was grabbing food.
Tom left the bathroom, a towel hanging off his hips as he pulled one of the dresser drawers open, “Where are your jammies?” he frowned.
“Oh I rearranged the clothes, yours are in the top two and mine are in the bottom.
“Oh…” he pulled out some sweats and began changing, “I liked having them all together, then my clothes smell like you and yours smell like me, it’s nice for when I go away, reminds me of you,” he flashed her a smile, but it fell when he looked back at her, “What?”
“Doesn’t seem like it's a very good reminder.”
“What? Darling of course it is, it makes me feel at home, and that little piece of you is really comforting to me,” he sat at her feet, “You’re upset with me.”
She nodded, “Yeah, but I know you’re tired, we can talk about it tomorrow.”
“No, no, we can talk about it now, I figured we’d stay up for a bit anyway. Besides, it’s not good to go to bed angry,” he kissed her hand before crossing his legs, “Tell me what’s on your mind love.”
“Okay,” she took a deep breath, “I just felt like we hardly talked while you were gone and that really bugged me. I mean I understand that you were busy doing press and everything, but I felt like I was really on the back burner.”
“Love I called you every opportunity I had, and I warned you I wouldn’t have much free time, this is a big film, there’s lots to be done.”
“I understand that Tom, but I know you didn’t call me every chance you got because you never called me unprompted. I mean the whole time you were gone I only heard from you after I reached out, and I was lucky if I got a reply on the same day. Then you come home hours late, you don’t tell me where you are, you don’t invite me out with you, I mean I’m your girlfriend Tom.”
“I’m sorry you feel that way darling but I put my best effort in here, I don’t know what you want me to say, I was just busy. And I’m sorry I was late getting home but we’d been flying all day, we were hungry, we stopped for dinner, it wasn’t like I was avoiding coming home or something.”
“No but you didn’t invite me, and I’m not saying we need to do everything together, but when you're gone for a whole month I wanna feel like you're excited to see me when you come home.”
“I am excited to see you!” he laughed, cupping her face in his hands, “You can ask anyone darling, I was buzzing the whole way home, they couldn’t get me to shut up about you.”
“It doesn’t matter what you say to other people Tom,” she groaned, pushing his hands away, “I know I’m being petty here but you didn’t even want me at the airport, in fact you told me not to come because the traffic would be annoying and you’d be home at 8 anyway, and then you weren’t. Don’t you understand why that makes me feel unwanted?”
“Airports irritate you, I just wanted to save you the trip,” he defended, “I really am sorry it’s been such a rough month darling, but you could have let me know a lot sooner too. You know you can always come visit when I’m away, and if you really wanted me home right away all you had to do was tell me.”
“It’s not that simple Tom, I have my own things going on, I can’t just fly across the world because you’re too busy to take two seconds to text me back. And the point is that I want you to want to come home to me. I don’t want to have to tell you I want you to come home, I want you to do it because you want to see me as much as I want to see you.”
“Darling I know it’s not that easy but you knew what you were getting into with this relationship.”
“I knew that I was getting into long distance, but that doesn’t mean we don’t talk.”
“I wasn’t ignoring you, it’s hard for you to understand what it’s like but I was busy all day, everyday. Whenever I wasn’t working I was sleeping, I got back to you whenever I could, and I’m sorry that that wasn’t as frequent as you would have liked, but you weren’t the only thing on my mind.”
“I wasn’t on your mind at all, evidently.”
Tom sucked in a sharp breath, rising from his seat to cross his arms, “Is that what you think?”
“That’s what you made clear with your actions,” she retorted.
His jaw was locked, his cheeks flushed red with anger, “I can’t spend less time away (y/n), and I can’t always put you at the top of my priority list. It just comes with the job and if you can’t handle that you’re welcome to leave.”
“Leave?” she repeated, in shock that the words had actually left his mouth.
He nodded, confirmed she’d heard correctly, “If you’re not happy you can leave.”
She pushed herself off the bed, shaking her head in disbelief as she approached the dresser, “Fine.”
He stayed quiet for a moment, watching as she began tossing clothes onto the bed. The anger seemed to flood away in an instant, “What are you doing?”
“Leaving.”
“Darling wait,” he sighed, “Don’t do that. Let’s sit down again.”
“You told me to leave, so I’m leaving,” she snapped back.
“I didn’t say that,” he groaned, grabbing her hands as he moved in between her and the dresser, “Please stay.”
“I’m telling you that I miss you!” she snapped suddenly, tears starting to prick at the corners of her eyes, “That I need you! A-And I need you to know that you love me when you’re gone, not just when you’re here. Why is that too much?”
He froze, a wave of guilt washing over him in an instant, “It’s not darling, not at all. I got defensive, I’m sorry.”
She sat back down on the edge of the bed with a sigh, “You didn’t just get defensive, you told me to leave.”
“I didn’t mean it like I wanted you to leave,” he tried to explain, “But if you aren’t happy with me then you should leave, as much as that would absolutely kill me.”
“I am happy with you Tom, the happiest I’ve ever been,” she squeezed his hand.
“I’m my happiest with you too,” he pursed his lips, “I’m sorry sweetheart, I shouldn’t have snapped at you like that. It just hurt to come home and immediately get told I’ve been being such a shitty boyfriend.”
“You haven’t been, that’s not what I was trying to imply either. I just need you to put in a little more effort next time you're away. I know it’s hard and you're busy, but I’m not asking you to sit by your phone every second of the day. I just need to know that you miss me too.”
“I do miss you, just…” he trailed off, sighing as he tried to put his words together more calmly, “It’s not easy being away. I mean I do all these press events all day and I get back totally wiped and I’ve got to stay in another hotel all alone. It used to be a lot easier to do that when I didn’t have you to come home too. I never felt like I was missing out on anything before, and now I feel like I’m missing all these moments with you. I try really hard to bury those emotions so I can be happy and do all the interviews and what not.”
“Why couldn’t you just talk to me about it?”
“I would have been a mess if I spent all day dragging on and on about how much I missed you, I had work to do, it was easier to bury it,” he sighed again, “I don’t know darling, I didn’t realize I was hurting you, I was just trying to get it all done so I could come home and be happy again.”
“Okay…” she set her head on his shoulder, “I know maybe it makes it harder for you, but just promise you won’t do that to me next time.”
“Of course not love, I’d never do anything I knew would hurt you,” he kissed her head before nuzzling his nose against her hair, “There won’t be a next time, I won’t go away again.”
“Tom that is not what I want, it’s your job, it’s okay that you have to leave sometimes.”
He shook his head, “It’s not okay if it hurts us, that’s a risk I won’t take. So I won’t go away again unless we’re going together, at least not until I’m sure you know exactly how much I love and appreciate you.”
She peaked up at him before pressing a kiss to his cheek, “Thank you Tom.”
“You’re welcome,” he squeezed her tight against his chest again, “I’m sorry for snapping at you earlier. I’d be fucking devistated if you ever left darling.”
“I would never leave,” she assured, “Ever.”
“Me neither,” he hummed, “You and me is the only thing I’ll ever want.”
“Me too,” she closed her eyes, snuggling into his side like she’d been dreaming of doing for a whole month, “You wanna go to bed now?”
He nodded, “There’s nothing I’d like more.”

Emergency Visits (Bucky Barnes)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Fem!Reader
Words: 4.5k+
Warning(s): SMUT! Oral (Reader recieving), fingering, penetration, fluff!!! (Cringe warning too)
A/N: HONESTLY, idk why i had the courage to write smut but I did. THE ORIGINAL ONE-SHOT WASN’T SUPPOSED TO HAVE SMUT LMFAO also yall know I am a sucker for crossovers SOOO the timelime for TFATWS is off in this because Frank Castle is in here and I wrote most of this before episode 5 <3
Summary: Bucky, Sam, and Zemo need a place to lay low in while in the States and you're their most trusted person they know. What was not predicted was your vigilante friend needing medical help that same night.
--------------------------------------------
You were a former Avenger. You were highly trained in combat but your purpose was to help any wounded comrade or citizen when you and the team were called in. The fighting days were pretty much over for you after the last battle with Thanos. You still used your medical knowledge to work at the different hospitals in New York City and helped Matt Murdock or Frank Castle with any wounds. Rarely you'd help with some vigilante work, but you rather sit out and keep to a less violent life.
You were mindless watching whatever Netflix suggested to you on a breezy night in your humble apartment in New York. It has been a rather boring few nights for you compared to more hectic ones, given your vigilante friends weren't getting as hurt as usual and didn't need discreet medical care.
Your cellphone ringing next to you snapped your attention away from your binging of a John Mulaney  stand up show (good choice Netflix). You looked at the caller idea and swore your heart fluttered ever so slightly.
James Buchanan Barnes was calling.
You had spent many months in Wakanda with him as Shuri worked tirelessly to get rid of Hydras grasp on his mind. Your main focus was learning new information on medicine but you always made sure to visit Bucky. You both got pretty close... Light touches, lingering hugs, and often staring at each other when the other wasn't looking became a commonality. It was obvious feelings of love were blossoming for you, but you weren't fully sure if he felt the same.
After the battle you both stayed in contact, but he decided to reside in D.C. while you laid roots back in the familiarity of New York. You both made sure to visit each when possible, but it had been about a month and a half since you last saw him.
"Hey, Buck." You smiled, answering his call. "It's been a few days, usually you make sure to call every other night. Are you okay?"
"I..." You heard him sigh, making you sit up straight.  "I need a favor, doll."
"Of course, you know I would do practically anything for you."
"That applies to me too right?" You heard Sam in the background, making you chuckle.
"Yes, it does Sam. How are you?"
"I've been better, these past few days have been rough but I'll let Stare-a-tron explain it to you." You heard a wack and an 'ow' come from Sam.
"So..." Bucky started but didn't continue.
"So...?"
"So, have you paid any attention to the news regarding Munich?"
"I have now connected the dots."
"What?"
"You broke a certain terrorist out of jail didn't you, James." You groan. When you saw the news about Zemo you couldn't possibly connect it to Buck and Sam, but with this call and a need of a favor instantly made you realize.
"Technically, (Y/N), he broke himself out."
"Do I need to slap some sense into you? He killed King  T'Chaka. He broke up the Avengers--"
"I know, I know." You heard him sigh. You listened in closer and heard some background traffic noise that sounded like the streets of New York. "Listen, we need a place to lay low for a bit in the States and your the only person I can one-hundred percent trust. I can't tell you more on the phone but please-"
"Yes, yes of course Buck. You guys, well minus Zemo, are welcomed here for whatever reason. Do you need me to text you the address?"
"Nah, we are actually about to enter your apartment building."
"Well hurry up so we can decide on take out." You chuckled and hung up the phone. You only had to wait a few minutes before you heard knocking at your door. Wasting no time you opened the door as fast as you can and practically tackle Bucky into a hug.
He chuckled gently, "I missed you too, doll."
You released him from your hold and grinned as Sam. "Come here Sam, I haven't seen you in a few months." You pulled him into a less dramatic but friendly hug.
"Good to see you too, (Y/N)." Sam and Buck made their way into the apartment leaving you faced to face with Zemo.
"Hello." You greeted, offering a differential handshake.
"Hello, (Y/N). I hope all is well." He accepted the short handshake and gave an equally differential smile before entering your apartment.
"Welcome to my humble abode, make yourselves at home here. I have two bedrooms so we better discuss sleeping arrangements-"
"Easy, I call dibs bunking with you while Wings and Zemo stay in your spare room." Bucky interrupted.
"Hold up, why can't you stay with creepy-magee? I'm sure you two would love to stare at each other." Sam argued.
"Because I called dibs, isn't that right Doll?"
"He did call dibs, Sam." You shrugged and laugh at his look of betrayal.
You heard Zemo start to speak but Sam beat him to it, "You don't get an opinion." Zemo simply put his hands up and surrendered while the other two kept arguing about the concept of dibs.
"Anyways I'll order some Chinese food and we can discuss why you three are here over dinner."
--------
Your mind was blown.
Bucky and Sam filled you in on Isaiah, the return of super soldiers, why they needed Zemo, and the issues they had with the New Captain America. You also almost chastised Bucky for missing his mandated therapy session but decided to keep eating your food and let him continue.
"Wow, that is fucking nuts. Super soldiers, huh?" You sigh. As much as you didn't want to, you had a feeling they would need your help with fighting. After all you fought along with the original Captain America, so you picked up ways to fight super soldiers.
"Yeah, after Madripoor we need to lay low. Hopefully no one spotted us." Sam said, starting to pick up his dishes. Everyone seemed to follow suit and you were about to speak again when you heard knocking at your door.
"Hey, can you take these  for me? I'll go answer the door." You slid your stuff towards Buck who looked at you worried.
"Do you want one of us to answer the door with you?"
"Nah I should be fine, it's probably Mrs. Espinoza looking for her sons cat." You waved him off, making your way to the door. You unlock your locks and crack open the door.
There stood Frank fucking Castle, covered in an obscene amount of blood while using  the wall for support.
Tumblr media
"Hey..." He greeted with a hoarse voice and a weak attempt of a smile.
"Holy shit, Frank." You said barely above a whisper. "Fuck, can one you guys come here?!" You shouted, opening the door wider while taking one his arms over your shoulder.
"What the hell, (Y/N)?" Bucky looked at you and the blood soaked Punisher with bewilderment.
"I'll explain in a bit! Just help me take him to the couch. Sam go get my medical bag, it's in my closet in the room on the left! Zemo clear everyones stuff from the couch." You barked out orders while you and James carefully led Frank to the couch. When Zemo cleared it off and Sam came running out with your bag, you both laid him down on the couch.
With no hesitation you quickly wash your hands and prepare your equipment.
"Are you going to tell us what the hell is happening right now, (Y/N)?" Buck asked.
"I am also wondering why we have a beaten guy on your couch." Sam's face was full of worry.
You sigh and begin removing Franks clothes to look for any life threatening wounds. "This is the Punisher. If you haven't kept up with the more lower level news he is one of the vigilantes."
"That doesn't explain why he is here."
"I... I am friends with him and Daredevil. I patch them up so they can avoid the hospital." You see a bullet wound on his side, it was bad but it was manageable with an exit wound. "One of you hold him up so I can stitch his back."
Bucky immediately joined your side, using his enhanced strength to hold up Frank.
"You gonna introduce me to your friends here, (Y/N)?" Frank rasped. "I gotta know whose cold ass hand is touchin' me."
"I'll introduce you to them later, let me get you stable."
-----
After what felt like hours, you finished dressing a gash on his thigh. You peel of your bloodied gloves and get up from kneeling on the floor. You helped sit Frank up so he can get a good look at whose here.
"Frank, this is Sam Wilson and James Barnes. I worked and fought with them as an Avenger." You gesture to the two. You saw him eyeing Buck before giving you a knowing look. You both were friends after all, he knew of your feelings towards Bucky.
"Who's the guy in the pimp coat?" He grunted and gestured towards Zemo, who rolled his eyes.
"Baron Zemo. Escapee prisoner."
"Zemo? As in the guy who bombed the UN? Do you need me to-"
"No Frank, they need him alive." You chuckled.
"Well, it's good to put faces to names. Especially yours, James." Frank spoke, nudging you. "I'll get my spare clothes and rinse off the blood now, something tells me the guest room will be taken." You were going to protest but knew Frank was too stubborn to listen. The four of you watched him make his way to the guest room before closing the door.
"Oh so he knows about us but we don't know about him?" Sam arched a brow at you. Bucky stayed silent, clenching both his fists.
You sigh, "I am sorry for not telling you guys. I didn't keep my involvement with vigilantes away from you both on purpose, I promise."
"Can we trust the Punisher? Will everything be safe with all of us here?"
"You don't have to worry about me talking." Frank came out of the room in new clothes, using a damp towel to wipe his face. "(Y/N)'s stuck her neck out for me countless times. I owe it to her."
"If (Y/N) trusts you then we trust you."
"As much as I want to stay up, I think it is best we get some sleep. Tomorrow we can talk more." You stretch and yawn and everyone seemed to agree. Castle put a pillow on the couch and grabbed a spare blanket you had lying around.
"C'mon man you can have the bed. You look like you got the shit beaten out of you." Sam said.
"Nah it's fine. I'm a light sleeper. I can stay out here in case he," Castle pointed to Zemo, "tries somethin'."
"C'mon Buck, your rooming with me." You smile and grab his non-vibranium hand.
"I don't want to share a room with Zemo." Falcon groaned
"Bucky did call dibs after all."
You said goodnight to Sam, and gave Frank a quick hug goodnight before you and James went into your bedroom, a duffel bag in his hand.
James was feeling jealous. He didn't want to admit it but watching how friendly you were with Frank Castle made his feelings worse.  He could pick up the familiarity between the two of you and how easy you were able to talked to him. Frank was someone in your life Bucky didn't know existed.  How close were you to the Punisher?
Thoughts of you and Frank entered his head but he quickly tried to dismiss them. It made his chest ache just thinking about you and another man. Yeah, Buck was smitten with you. But the feelings of self-doubt and guilt always made it hard for him to confess. With the addition of Frank? Made it almost impossible.
"You can use the bathroom to change while I cahnge out here." Your voice snaps him out of his thoughts. He nodded silently, clenching his jaw, while entering the bathroom.
Your stare lingered at the door before you quickly put on a different set of comfortable clothes, discarding your previous clothes to the floor. You picked up on his sudden quietness and you hoped he wasnt truly mad at you. With a quiet sigh you slid under the blankets of your bed and waited for Bucky so you could get to bed. You and Bucky have shared the floor and bed before, and you were able to keep it together.
But after everything that has happened, after finally seeing him after almost two months, it made you feel nervous. You weren't sure if it was exhaustion or stress, but your feelings for Bucky suddenly felt overwhelming.
If that wasn't enough, you felt like your face was burning when he stepped out from the bathroom, wearing just his boxers and dogtags.
"I, uh, hope you don't mind. I found sleeping without a shirt easier to deal with nightmares. Helps cool me off."
"No, no. Don't worry at all Buck." You smile but it felt like your heart was going to leap out of your chest. He smiled briefly before he turned out the lights, joining you in bed. You both laid on your sides, back facing back. You shut your eyes and try to focus on sleeping, but the image of shirtless, only in boxers James flooded your thoughts.
"Doll?" James voice cut through the silence.
"Y-yes, Buck?"
"Who... Who is Frank  to you?" He asked in a low, dejected tone. Your eyes snap open. What kind of question was that from him?
"What do you mean?" You roll to face him but his back was still towards you.
"Are you and Frank..." He paused, "just ignore it, nevermind."
"Bucky, face me." He didn't  respond. "Please, James." You heard him sigh but he complied, turning to face you. The subtle light from your window made it easier to see his handsome face in the dark. You gulped, trying to muster an ounce of courage to tell him these feelings you've held for him for years.
"Frank and I are strictly friends. Before he became the Punisher he had a wife and two kids who he loved dearly. They-they were killed in front of him. He loved his wife dearly and I don't think he is looking to start dating anytime soon." You sigh and things go silent for a moment.
You rested a hand on his cheek and scooch closer. "James, I... I really enjoy spending time with you. I enjoy your presence. After all that we have been through,  with getting the code words out your head to losing Steve... I want to be by your side no matter what." You felt tears prick your eyes.
"I feel the same way about you doll." James spoke, just above a whisper. "You help ground me and honestly you help keep me sane." His hand found its way above yours that was cupping his cheek. Gently he moved your hand to his lips. He placed a soft kiss to your knuckles before moving it over his heart. "I've felt this for a while and I never had much courage to say it before but... I love you, (Y/N)."
"I love you too, James." You smile, a few happy tears managed to escape your eyes.
"C'mere." He helped move you close to him, pulling you into a deep hug. The chill of his vibranium arm caused goosebumps but the warmth of his other arm gave you comfort.
You wrap your arms around his bare torso and snuggled your face into his neck. God he smelt good. With a little courage coursing through you, you gave him a small kiss on the neck before giving him a little love bite, nothing that would bruise.
Bucky chuckled moving a part from you, just enough to get a full look at your face. Without saying anything he leaned in, his eyes hooded, placing his lips on yours. One of his hands found its way to your head while the other rested on your hip. You pushed your body closer to his, while gently dragging your nails across his back.
"Mm Doll." He mumbled against your lips. "I... I want to continue this with you if that's alright with you."
"Yes, Bucky." And in an instant after giving him the word, he maneuvered you onto your back while he hovered on top of you, his dogtags dangling down. He removed them from his body.
"Don't want those hitting your pretty face." He smiled and leaned in to kiss you once again, this time him slipped his tongue into your mouth, deepening the kiss. His warm hand rested on your neck before he slowly dragged it down your chest and to the hem of your shirt. He messed with it a little, teasing to go underneath.  You whine a bit and arch your back as he kept messing with it.
"May I?" You simply nod in response. He pushed himself away from you and took the hem of your shirt, helping you remove it. The cold air hitting your now exposed chest made you shiver. "No bra? Naughty." He smirked.
"I'm not the one who came out only his his boxers."
"Touché." He tossed your shirt onto the ground and soaked in the view below him. The perfect lighting leaking through the blinds illuminated everything in just the right way. James licked his lips, "You are gorgeous, doll."
"You're pretty handsome yourself." You smile, which made him smile.
"Let me treat you like a goddess. Let me repay the favor." Without another word James attacked your neck with his mouth, nipping and sucking on the area. He continued leaving love marks from your neck down to your chest slowly. The sensation made you moan as tingles went through your body. You felt yourself getting wetter as he continued to leave hickies on your chest.
Bucky used his non-vibranium hand to cup your right breast, kneading it gently. Maintaining eye contact with you his leans his head down to your free breast before giving your raised nipple a quick lick. The feel made your body shake ever so slightly, making him smirk at the reaction. He did it again, although this time slower before latching on, using his tongue to swipe over the sensitive bump.
"Bucky-" You gasped. You felt heat slowly build in your core, not enough to have you screaming, but enough to feel pleasurable. "That feels so good." He continued giving your tender breasts and nipples attention, slowly building you up.
"Lets get these pajama shorts off." He sat up again, moving himself lower on the bed. He gripped the waistband of your shorts and began slowly removing them while you lifted your legs to help. Discarding them like your shirt, he tosses those articles of clothing to the floor. You were left with just your panties
His hands take your knees and help spread your legs farther a part, soaking in the view of your body spread out. His mouth found its place on your in thigh. He left small kissed, sometimes little bites, and he dragged his mouth closer and closer to your wet pussy. "I want to taste you doll, is that alright?"
"Y-yes Bucky, please." You begged, adjusting your hips ever so slightly. "I want to feel you more."
"As you wish." He smirked. Before he removes your panties he places soft kissed over the fabric covering your pussy. You stifle a moan, as he continued to tease you against the fabric. When he was done, he remove your underwear with ease.
"You are stunning, absolutely stunning." His hand found its way to your slit. He gently  brushed his fingers over your sensitive skin, making your body twitch ever so slightly. "You're so wet for me, already." His tongue slowly and softly dragged around your vagina and clit, the teasing is back on.
"A-Ah!" You quietly moaned, trying to keel your voice down. You moan again when you felt one metal finger enter slowly while his mouth latched to your clit. One of your hands reached down to grip his hair as he began to finger and play with your clitoris.
The pleasure had your curling your toes. You had to bite your lip to hold back from moaning loudly. You didn't feel like waking up the others.
Another finger entered as he started to speed up his motions, his tongue and mouth still on your clitoris.
"That feels so good." You said with an airy tone as he continued to work.
"You taste divine." His breath against your sensitive skin made you your thighs clamp around his head. The pleasure was building up and you felt like your were close to cumming.
"J-James, - oh god!" You kept your voice down but the work he is doing to your clit made it hard to stay quiet. "Fuck-"
James give your clit one last lick before sitting, removing his fingers in the process. He then licked his fingers clean as he stared down at your panting body. He could feel his cock wanting to be free from his boxers so he removed them, letting his large erection out. He watched you squirm as you awaited for his touch again.
"Do you want my dick inside you, doll?"
"Ye-yes please." You begged, wiggling your hips for him. "Please!"
"God your so hot." He leaned back over you, placing a sloppy kiss on your mouth. You could taste yourself on his lips. Lining himself up to your entrance he looked to you. "Ready?"
"Yes!" He smiled, and slowly slide his cock inside you. You gasp as you feel him stretch you out, tears stinging your eyes. He stopped once he was fully in, letting you have a moment to get adjusted. "I don't know how I'll keep my voice down."
"Bury your face into my neck, I want to hear you moan my name."
You did what he suggested, you wrapped your arms around his torso while he used his vibranium arm to stay stable and his other arm around your head to keep himself close to you. His body was completely on top of yours.
"You can move now."
James slowly moved his hips away, almost entirely removing his cock from you except the tip before thrusting back in. Your moan was successful smothered by his body. He continued thrust himself inside your pussy, the sound of skin slapping skin filled the room.
"O-Oh James- yesyesyes," You mewl. "You feel so good." You heard him let out a husky groan in your ear.
"I love it when you say my name, (Y/N)." He whispered in your ear as he kept his pace. You continue to moan out his name, gripping him tight as his thrust got faster. "Fuck, your so tight."
"Shit- faster!" You begged and he obliged. "You're so good to me Bucky. You-you're perfect." You could feel his thrust starting to gst sloppy as you felt waves of pleasure course through your body.
"Baby you make me crazy." He moaned. You could feel his hand make its way down to your clit, and your body arches against his as he pressed down on the sensitive bud. He practically started pounding your pussy as he moaned in your ear.
"James I'm gonna- I'm so close!" You cry out as the the feeling kept building.
"Do it, cum for me."
It was like everything in your body started shake as the pressure finally snaps in your core. You bury your face into his chest and moan his name as blinding, white hot pleasure filled your being. Your walls tighten around his cock  and you feel him start to tense.
His thrusts became harder before he finally released his thick cum inside of you before collapse onto of you, panting. Both of you were sweaty and breathing hard, but neither of you moved. The feeling of his cock inside you, twitching, was extremely hot.
"You're amazing, (Y/N)." He grinned, making you smiled.
"You're the best damn thing in my life, James."
---------
You woke up naked the next morning, curled up to an equally naked, sleeping Bucky. You smiled, remembering last nights confession and everything after that. You watch him sleep for a moment before deciding to slip out of bed to make everyone breakfast. You throw on the pajamas you wore before hand and quietly leave the room.
You close the door as quietly as and turned around, only to see Frank sitting at the table reading a magazine you had lying around.
"Oh good morning Frank." You smiled and walked past him, hoping he wouldn't notice anything. "I'm gonna make some breakfast for everyone."
"Morning, (Y/N)." He grunted. "Sleep well?"
You almost choked on air, "Yes, I did. How about you?"
"Oh you know, the couch is alright but I am a light sleeper remember? I kept hearing weird noises through the night. " Your face felt on fire as you turned to face him. He wore a smug smirk on his face. "Got something on your neck there."
You rush to grab your phone and look in the camera. Low and behold, hickies were left on your neck. "Shit."
Frank snorted, "So you finally got with your crush, huh?"
"Oh shut it you grump."
"I'm just teasing you. You know I'm happy for you, (Y/N)."
"Thanks, Frank."
Frank decided to help you with breakfast, taking on making bacon and sausage while you attended to making pancakes. And sure enough the rest of the people in the apartment came out.
"They're gonna see them. "
"I know, I am bracing myself for Sam's teasing." You sigh. You go and place the plate  pancakes you made on the table while Frank placed the bacon and sausage he made.
"G'morning, doll. I missed ya in the morning." Bucky approached you, wrapping his arms around your waist.
"I wanted you to wake up to some breakfast." You grinned and placed a chaste kiss on his lips.
"Did you finally confess your feelings?" You heard Sam. "I gotta get ahold of Tic Tac and Clint they owe- what the hell is on your neck (Y/N), is that what I think it is?" He groaned and sat at the table, everyone taking their spots.
"Hickies are messages on the body that can show ones presence on another-" Zemo spoke but was cut off by Sam.
"I do not want to know, Zemo. Lets just eat."
Breakfast was great. You were surprised Frank got along with the others, though it did take some talking to by Sam to break him out of his shell. You also could have sworn Buck and Frank had a stare down at one point but were both laughing and smiling.
You take hold of Bucks hand that was on the table and give it a light squeeze, smiling at him while he smiled back. Life was pleasant even after these emergency visits.

Title: “Day after Valentines“ Genera: Romance, comedy, Fluff, Oneshot Warnings:
Notes:
This is made for @ask-the-fnaf-nightguards  because I said I’d make it around valentines day and never did. Also, this is the FNaF nightguards AU, account, whatever you’d call it. Mike =/= Michael Afton, Vincent =/= William afton. Don’t get it confused, they are different people and not even close to being related.
ALSO THIS IS WAYYY SHORTER THAN I WANTED IT TO BE
Im sorry, It was gonna be longer but I forgot and fell asleep so it’s short but it holds so much fluff. You have been warned.(/lh)

Mike sat in the break room, leaning against the couch as he let out an irritated sigh. Today clearly wasn't his day. He'd got stuck in traffic and was late to work, he dropped his breakfast, and right before he came into the break room, there was an entitled brat screaming about how they didn't give her the cake she apparently ordered. You can't even order a cake at Freddy's! This is a pizzeria, not a bakery but she didn't listen and went on and on.
She only left when Vincent had enough of it and told her to get out or he'd call the authorities. It worked, he was glad it was over, but now he had a pounding headache. At this point, Mike wanted to go home, hide in his bed and never leave his apartment but he couldn't. He let out another sigh, his head thonking against the wall as he let it fall back. He groaned softly as he realized he'd have to get back to work to help with closing.
<>
Jeremy was putting some stuff away in the back when Vincent walked into the room. "Jeremy," Vincent said, catching his attention. Jeremy looked at Vincent, looking confused as he stopped in the middle of putting something on a shelf. "W-What is it Vincent?" He asked, putting the item on the shelf completely before turning is full attention onto Vincent. "How about we go bother Mike in the break room?" He sounded mischievous, as per usual, and Jeremy looked confused for a moment.
"Oh, uh, s-sure!" He smiled, it was unsure but not too much as Vincent's smile widened and he lead the both of them to the break room. They saw Mike still sitting down still, looking rough and gloomy as per usual. Vincent went up and sat next to Mike, leaning against him. "Hello.~" "Hi Vincent," Mike looked over as Jeremy climbed into his lap, putting his legs across both Vincent's and Mike's before hugging onto Mike for support.  Mike automatically supported Jeremy with his hands, placing one on his lower back and another on his lap. Vincent held Mike's hand as he leaned against him.
Mike's expression twisted into confusion, "What are you 2 doing?" "Loving our b-boyfriend," Jeremy replied, placing a kiss on Mike's cheek. "Mhm,~" Vincent agreed, cuddling into him. Mike blushed a bit. "You do know valentines day was yesterday, right?" His voice was neutral, though both Jeremy and Vincent could tell he was enjoying the bit of extra attention. "We can love y-you any day of the year," Jeremy said happily. "How about we love you like this all the time,~" Vincent smiled softly as he kissed Mike's cheek before cuddling into him affectionately.
This went on for awhile. Them being extra affectionate, and Mike's day evidently being brightened. There were kissing and cuddling, a bunch of loving words. In all honesty, Mike wouldn't mind if they did it again and Vincent and Jeremy wouldn't mind either. They would definitely do it again, another day. But their love-fest was put to a halt as an angry Scott came into the room. "You 3 were supposed to help with closing an hour ago, what are you doing?!" They all reluctantly stopped the love session, going back to their usual things. Jeremy was a bit embarrassed they'd gotten caught, Mike was too but they didn't really care.

Play Pretend
Summary: When the chance comes to escape you're are going to play it smart to make sure you get away.
Trigger Warnings: Murder, gun usage, abuse, violence, kidnapping, imprisonment.
Jungkook
Yandere!Jungkook
Mafia!Jungkook
It's been about a week since Jungkook locked you in. Only now were the bruises on your ribs going down. And no matter how quickly he shifted back to normal and calmed down the damage was done, he’d shown you a truly terrifying side of himself and you knew he couldn’t be trusted anymore. The worst of it was that he never even feigned an apology. He didn’t think he was in the wrong to react like he did. He just went from one day to the next like nothing was different.
You felt so stupid. You had thought there was something not right with him the first time you met him. But instead of trusting your gut, you got swept up in his good looks and charm. And that lack of discernment is the reason why you've been trapped in his house for a week now. You tried to tell him that people would be looking for your eventually. But with full certainty, he assured you that wouldn’t be the case. You weren’t sure why or how, but you knew that he 100% believed it. And that made your situation even more despondent.
This evening, for the first time in 8 days, Jungkook finally left the house.  You had thought it might be a chance for you to look for an escape, but to your disappointment, he left one of his ‘employees’ with you.  You still can't pinpoint what he does exactly, but all of the people you have seen with Junkook have a similar dangerous vibe. This one is no exception. Tall, strong, large and mean-looking. It completely dashed your hopes of getting away.  That was until you heard the clear and threatening order Jungkook gave him.  For the second time, you were seeing this sweet kind young man have men double his age, who were larger and tougher looking than him, look weak and fearful. The exact wording slipped your mind, but the gist of it was if anything happens to you while he is gone, Jungkook will violently kill your guard.
After a few hours of stirring, half hesitant to try and half trying to perfect the idea, you finally decide you need to at least attempt a prison break.
Calling the guard, you drop to the bedroom floor, curling yourself tight, clutching your ribs. You knew your bruises were still purple and black there, so it would be the most convincing place to say you had pain.  After a few screams, the man dashes in his face draining at seeing you writhing on the floor in agony.
“What happened?” He barks.
“I fell. It hurts.” You wheeze, knowing it's best to keep your details simple to maintain the act.
He bends to help you up and you wail a faked cry of pain, applying your years of watching dramas into practice. You’re not sure how believable your act is, but the man is so swept up in the panic of the moment, it doesn’t really matter.  As he gets you onto the bed, you pull up your shirt slightly exposing your marks and bruises and it's the tipping point.  He goes from worried to frantic.
"Sh-" he whispers the exclamation under his breath. He looks to ponder his options, and you hope your theory is right and that he is too afraid to call Jungkook first. "Alright, you need to go to the hospital." He declares. You have to lean more into the pained acting to stop a smile from coming onto your face, thankful that your plan is so far working.
The guard picks you up bridal style and carries you downstairs with an urgent patter to his steps. Getting you into the back seat of the car, he rushes into the front and begins driving. Despite his craze, you're surprised to see him driving so steadily and rationally. Abiding the road rules and sticking to the speed limits.
You think your best, or only option would be to get some privacy with Doctor at the hospital and tell him everything. Beg him to call the police. The one risk for going to the hospital is the possibility of the guard not leaving you to talk to the Doctor.
"Fuck." The man hisses under his breath as his phone begins to ring.
The call connects to the cars Bluetooth as he answers, blasting Jungkooks voice in surround sound.
"I'm at home, but you're not. Where are you?" He questions with an ominous tone. The drivers head flicks back to you, his uncertainty flashing through his eyes as he decides what or how much of the truth to tell.
"She hurt herself. Her chest. So I am taking her to the hospital." He reveals everything with a shake in his voice.
Jungkook bursts into a sharp laugh, the sudden piercing of it through the speakers making both of you jump. "She's fine. Bring her back now."
You spring upright, eyes wide. The car rolls to a stop at the traffic light, the man's gaze meeting yours in the rear-view mirror. Jungkook knows! He knows you're faking it. He's going to hurt you again when you get back. You can't let him take you back.
The second the car stops, you don't pause to think, yanking on the door handle and throwing yourself out of the car. Because it is nearly midnight, the suburban area is desolate, but there are a few houses that still have lights on. You know your best option is one of those.
Breaking into a sprint you run across the main road over the island and towards the first house you can see any sign of life in. In a mad frenzy, you begin to pound on the door, calling and screaming for help, begging for them to open. Behind you, you can feel the guard quickly catching up and your pleading gets more desperate.
Giving you pure relief, the front door opens on a middle-aged man looking nearly as petrified as you. You don't wait to explain or discuss anything instead barge past him, hurling yourself through the open door. You spin on your heels, slamming the entrance closed. It doesn't shut though. The full body of the guard powers through the door colliding into you and the homeowner, knocking you both onto the ground in a painful blow.
With a heavy breath and a wild look in his eyes, he stalks over top of you, sealing you all in. The guard pulls a gun and his phone from his pocket, the call to Jungkook seeing to still be active. "Alright, I have h-" he speaks into the receiver, pointing the weapon at the man, rendering him frozen.
"Where are you?!" Jungkook yells, making the guard pull the phone from his ear. Even from a few meters away you can hear his hostile voice loudly and clearly.
For 10 minutes you are sat in the living room numb with fear. You could hear how furious Jungkook was. You can see how mad and nervous your guard is, and you can feel how confused and terrorised the older man is. Without movement, the three of you are stuck in a tense stare off, none able to speak.
On the 11th minute, there is a knock on the front door. The guard peers through the side window and his breath catches in his throat.
You start to physically shake as Jungkook comes in with two more men at his back, looking like an uneven, unsettling mix of calm and intense. Walking in with his hands in his pockets, he takes the size of all three people in the room.
"You left the car in the middle of the road?" He asks the guard, his gaze staying fixed on you.
"Yes. I had to chase her down." He tries to explain shortly.
"Ah," Junkook muses with a click of his tongue. "Get rid of it." He orders one of the other men who came in with him.
The guy nods, rushing to follow the instruction. As the door slams shut, Jungkook walks towards you squatting to your level. "Your ribs hurt Kitten?" he asks with a faked sweetness. He leans down digging his forefinger and thumb into your ribcage. It brings back the true pain of your injuries, making you squeal and writhe while trying to get away from him. His hand wraps around your side, keeping you in place and pushing you to the floor, crushing and gripping your wounds, bringing shortness to your breath and tears to your eyes.
After tormenting you for a few miserable minutes, Jungkook scoffs out a short laugh, standing back up nearly stepping on top of you. "Pick him up" He orders your guard, gesturing toward the homeowner on the floor behind you. He does so, having to hold a lot of the man's weight to get him to his feet. "Anyone else in the house?"
"No, I don't think so." The guard replies with uncertainty.
"Well you're not exactly reliable, are you?" Jungkook sneers.
You jump as two incredibly loud bangs echo out. One after the other, both the guard and the older man drop to the floor. Looking up at Jungkook horrified, he is standing over you holding a gun having just shot the two men. Your stomach is churning at the realization of what he just did. There is only a weak grunt and then silence from the older man, his body slumping still and lifeless. But from the other, there are continued struggled and gasped moans. Jungkook coolly walks to him, another shot firing and the pained sounds stop. Only silence and the pulsing ringing in your ears from the sudden blasts remain.
You're motionless. Panting broken breaths. Too in shock to move. Too scared to do anything. You can't believe this is happening. You're sure you're about to die.
"Go check the house." Jungkook kneels down beside you again, throwing the order to the second man that came with him.
With just the two of you left in the room, he comes closer, speaking lowly and gruffly in your ear. "See what you did Y/n." He motions to the side of you, to the murderous and violent display. You can't bring yourself to look. You know the sounds of those two men will haunt you for the rest of your life. You don't want to add the gruesome image of it as well. "Do want to play? You want to pretend to be in pain?" His hand roughly brushes the hair from off your face. He switches the gun from one hand to the other, his now free left hand digging tightly into your jaw, turning you to him. "Well, we're going home Kitten. And you won't need to pretend when I'm done with you."

Lover of Mine

a/n: i started listening to 5sos again after like 3 years (thanks amy xx) and lover of mine makes me sob, so here we go
Tumblr media
(gif from the lovely @sdmngifs)
“Hope and I pray - Darling, that you will stay - Butterfly lies - Chase them away”
Of course you knew who JJ was when you’d first met him; despite what your friends thought, you didn’t actually live under a rock. You’d had no choice but to get to know him when two of your closest friends had attracted the attention of Ethan and Harry on a night out and spent the rest of the evening in the club with them.
You watched from the other side of the table as your friends flirted shamelessly. Hair twirling around fingers, teeth gliding over glossed lips… it was shambolic. “Let’s go for a girls night, they said. It will be so fun, they said”, you deadpan.
“Oh so this is a girls night”, JJ exclaimed, bursting out into laughter. “That’s cold, man”, he chuckled. “Come on, drinks on me”, he winked, taking your hand and leading you to the bar to pick up the next round for the table.
You’d spent the night chatting with JJ, occasionally dipping in and out of conversation with his friends and their girlfriends. It wasn’t until you’d turned to tell your friends that the next round was on you that you realised they’d left.
“The girls with Behz and Bog?”, Simon asked you. JJ nodded for you, knowing you didn’t know their names. “They all left about a half hour ago I think”, he told you sympathetically.
“Charming”, you scoffed, starting to gather your things, ready to call it a night. JJ took your hand before you could stand, though, leaning in close to speak to you.
“Fancy a nightcap?”, he asked.
Your immediate reaction was to say no. This famous youtube star come rapper come boxer would probably only want one thing from you, and you weren’t after that. But, how could you judge him, you’d only known him 3 hours. So, against what might have been your better judgement, you found yourself nodding and agreeing.
“Bailey’s?”, he asked once you’d entered his apartment, leading you over to the kitchen. You nodded, following him and watching as he poured out the two drinks. JJ knocked your glasses together gently before taking a sip.
You’d gone home that night with a big smile on your face and a new number nestled into your contacts, under JJ’s name. You still had your reservations about JJ, you’d only known him a few hours, after all. But deep down, you hoped that whatever you had could grow into something beautiful.
-
Being with JJ was daunting. He had a massive, devoted fan base, a successful career not in one, but three different industries… And you were you. The niggling, self-sabotaging voice in your head always reminded you that JJ could do better, that no matter how good of a person he was, he would get bored of you. It took a lot to ignore the thoughts, the feelings that haunted you in the dark nights on your own.
JJ would remind you until he was blue in the face, if he had to, that he wouldn’t stay just to humour you. He’d often joke that he was too busy to waste his time on someone that he didn’t think was worth it in the long run, but by the way he held you in the dark nights that you shared, you knew that there was at least some truth to that.
“I'll never give you away - 'Cause I've already made - Already made that mistake”
The honeymoon phase with JJ was a whirlwind. Fancy dinner dates sat across from JJ, tight white shirt pulled across his biceps; nights out with his friends, tucked under his arm so he could proudly show you off; dancing around the living room on JJ’s toes at all hours of the night.
And then JJ had music deadlines coming up, music videos to film, Sidemen videos to film… It wasn’t strange to not hear from JJ for days at a time. You tried not to worry, JJ had never given you reason to worry in the past. But there were only so many rain-checks you could take without starting to doubt your relationship. You felt guilty, how could you not. JJ was working, doing his job… You knew all of this when you entered a relationship with him.
Things were starting to look up, though. You were in an Uber on the way to JJ’s, meeting him there for your first evening out together in well over a month. You were dressed reasonably for the occasion, jeans, nice top and some heeled boots. You were excited for a few hours of JJ’s undivided attention, time for you and him to just catch up and be a normal couple again.
You knocked on the door of the apartment, surprised when Simon opened the door to you. “Y/N?”, he asked, confused.
“I’m meeting JJ here before we go out”, you told him. Simon’s face twisted into a look of guilt and remorse. “He isn’t here, is he?”, you asked, eyes dropping to the floor.
“Come wait inside, yeah? He’s probably stuck in traffic”, Simon offered, moving back to let you step into the apartment. You thanked him, following him in, pulling your shoes off before walking over to the sofa. “You good?”, Simon asked, not walking back down to his office until you’d given him a nod.
You sent JJ a text, letting him know that you were probably early, but you were at the apartment. You pulled your feet up onto the sofa, getting yourself comfortable. You let yourself get lost in a cocktail of Youtube, Twitter and TikTok. You didn’t realise how long you’d been sat there until the low battery notification popped up on your phone. Your eyes flicked to the clock on your screen. 10pm. You’d been sitting there for 4 hours.
You rolled your neck before standing up, grimacing at the pops and cracks of your stiff joints. You walk down to Simon’s office, knocking on the door. “I’m off home”, you told him, popping your head around the door. Simon turned to you, seeming shocked that you were still there.
“It’s late. Just stay, I’m not letting you go home through the middle of London on your own”, he told you. You hesitated before nodding, wishing Simon goodnight and taking yourself off to JJ’s room. You grabbed a t-shirt out of one of JJ’s drawers, heading to the bathroom to get changed and take your make-up off.
It wasn’t until you caught a glimpse of yourself in the mirror, fully made up and ready for your date, that you started to cry. You sat on the side of the bath, head hung in your hands, as you let out full bodied sobs. This is what you were worried about, this is what JJ told you wouldn’t happen. Cancelling and rescheduling dates was one thing, but completely ignoring you and standing you up… You were heartbroken.
You scrubbed your make up off, throwing your hair into a bun on your head and changing into JJ’s shirt. You padded out to the kitchen, on a mission to make yourself a cup of tea. “You want a tea?”, Simon called when he heard you walking over.
“Please”, you said, voice small and watery. He smiled sympathetically at you. You must have made quite the sight, messy hair, tear tracks running down your face and an oversized t-shirt skirting around your thighs. You leant against the wall, staying out of the way as Simon moved around the kitchen.
“Are you sure you’re okay?”, he asked you worriedly as he handed you your mug.
“I will be. I just need some sleep, I think”, you told him, like your heart wasn’t tearing its way out of your chest as you spoke. You slumped off back to JJ’s room, crawling into bed and wrapping yourself in the duvet. You finished your tea, staring blankly at the wall opposite you, discarding the mug on the side table as soon as you were done.
A fresh wave of tears started when you reached over to plug your phone in. You stayed at JJ’s that often that he’d bought you a charger so you didn’t have to worry about forgetting it. It seemed like something so trivial to cry over, but you couldn’t help it. That was the JJ you knew, JJ who bought you a phone charger so you had even less of an excuse not to stay over, JJ who bought your favourite brand of tea bags even though he knew you’d drink anything. Not this JJ, JJ who blew you off and stood you up.
You hadn’t even bothered to shut the blinds, so you fell asleep staring out of the window, watching the lights of London’s skyline flicker and dance along the night sky.
-
You awoke to a sharp hiss and the other side of the bed dipping down. You looked over your shoulder, seeing JJ fumbling around in the dark. He looked over to you, face dropping with guilt. He opened his mouth to say something, but you simply turned over, tucking the duvet tighter under your chin.
“I’m sorry”, JJ said behind you. “I know it’s not a good excuse, but time got away from me. We were writing and recording and next thing I know the producers started packing up, saying it was too late to do anything else”.
He sounded genuinely apologetic and part of you wanted to roll over and let him take you into his arms and hold you until you forgave him. But a bigger part of you, an arguably pettier part of you, wanted him to suffer. You’d had to sit with no answer for hours, it was his turn now.
JJ seemed to understand what your lack of answer meant. He quickly got changed and got ready for bed, sliding in next to you wordlessly. It took effort not to turn and wrap an arm or a leg around him like you usually would. “Night, Y/N”, JJ whispered into the dark of the room before shutting his eyes and willing himself to sleep.
You awoke the next morning to JJ trying to bring a tray into the bedroom. You couldn’t help but giggle at the look of concentration cemented onto his face, tongue poking over his lip as his eyes stayed trained on the contents of the tray. “Good, you’re up”, he smiled once he’d rested the tray on the bed.
“What’s this?”, you asked, shuffling yourself so you were sitting upright against the headboard.
“An apology. I was a cunt last night. You don’t deserve that”, JJ started, perching himself next to you. “I fucked up. I’ve been fucking up. I’m so, so sorry”, he stressed, reaching over to take your hand in his. “I got tunnel vision with work. I shouldn’t have cancelled so much shit. Fuck”, he sighed.
“Just promise you’ll try and make sure it doesn’t happen again?”, you asked, rubbing your thumb over the veins in JJ’s hand.
“I promise. And if it does, just tell me. Tell me I’m being a cunt until I listen to you, okay?”, he said, smiling when you laughed and nodded. “Good”, he whispered, wrapping an arm around your shoulders to pull you in and press a kiss to your temple.
“When I take a look at my life - And all of my crimes - You're the only thing that I think I got I right”
Your arm was looped with Talia’s as you walked into the club where JJ’s release party was being held. Banners decorated in album art were draped around the top of the club, lights of all different colours bouncing off of the pictures of JJ’s face. Talia led you over to the cordoned off VIP area of the club.
“Restricted access”, the man said, voice low and gruff.
“We should be on the list. Talia and Y/N”, Talia told him politely. He checked his list against your IDs before lifting the rope and letting you through. “Drinks. C’mon”, she urged, pulling your arm and dragging you over to the bar.
Once you’d both got a drink in hand, you walked over to find JJ. “Hello, Mister”, you smiled, reaching up to press a kiss to his cheek. “Congratulations”, you whispered. JJ just rolled his eyes lovingly before introducing you to Randolph and S-X. “It’s great to finally meet you both, JJ’s said great things”, you beamed, reaching out to shake both of their hands.
JJ excused himself to go and talk to some official people regarding the party and the album itself, leaving you with a soft press of a kiss to your forehead. “Love you”, he murmured quietly, before walking off into the swarm of people.
You spoke to Randolph and S-X for a few minutes before excusing yourself to go and find Talia, Freya and the boys. “Y/N!”, Freya called when she saw you. “You look amazing!”, she gushed, reaching out to pull you into a hug.
“So do you, Frey”, you told her, holding her tight. You’d only just sat down next to her when JJ came up beside you, resting his arm on your shoulder.
“Are you wanting to sit down?”, you asked him, smiling up at him.
“Just wondered if you want another drink before I do, me and Simon are going for another round”, he told you. You nodded, squeezing his fingers quickly before he left. You jumped straight back into your conversation with Freya, Talia joining soon after, followed by Josh.
At the bar, as they waited for the drinks to be prepared, Simon caught JJ staring at you. “You did good”, he told JJ, leaning in so the younger man could hear him over the music.
“She’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me”, JJ said simply, turning to Simon. “This is great, YouTube is great… I love it all”, he started, “But I’d give it all up in an instant for her. She’s put up with so much shit for me to get this album out and to keep a consistent video schedule and stuff with the boxing and everything. She doesn’t complain, just tells me when I’m being a cunt and to sort my shit out”.
Simon looked at JJ, convinced he’d never seen his best friend as love as he was in that moment. “I’m happy for you, bro”, Simon told him honestly, slapping his chest supportively before turning around to grab one of the trays of drinks that had been left on the bar.
 -
Back at the apartment, once your slinky dress was discarded on the bathroom floor and JJ’s Versace jacket had been hung haphazardly on the back of his chair, you waited for JJ to get out of the shower and join you in bed. You flicked through the photos that you’d taken or been sent of the night, landing on your favourite of you and JJ that Talia had sent you once you’d piled into the Uber.
You’d been forcing JJ to cycle through a whole album of poses, making sure you got at least one decent one from the night as you and JJ were renowned for taking the blurriest of pictures. Simon had made a quip about how JJ was whipped and JJ had sniped back. You’d burst out into laughter, head tilted back, as JJ stared at you lovingly. The picture captured it perfectly; JJ’s arm tucked around your waist, your hand hooked over his shoulder, the look in JJ’s eyes that you knew was reserved for only you…
“Whaddya lookin at?”, JJ asked, jumping onto the bed next to you and yanking you into his arms. You showed him the photo over your shoulder. “It’s cute. Send me it”, he told you. Once JJ had removed himself from your back, you rolled over so you could face him. You watched as he received the picture and immediately went to set it as his lock screen. “What?”, he asked defensively when you fixed him with a soft look.
“It’s just cute”, you told him, leaning over to press a kiss to his lips. JJ’s hands came to your hips, guiding you over to sit on his lap. “I love you”, you whispered, resting your forehead against his. JJ nudged his head forward, dropping another kiss onto the corner of your mouth before looking up and meeting your eyes.
“I love you too, more than you’ll ever know”.

With a gasp you woke up from a dreamless sleep. You were confused for a moment as you let your gaze glide through the dark room and could only make out the outlines of your living room. When you looked outside the window, you realized that it had already become dark.
Crap.
You only wanted to take a short nap after work before going grocery shopping. Your refrigerator and the cupboards in your kitchen were devastatingly empty. But, as was so often the case, your nap turned into a deep sleep which left you even more exhausted than before.
In the dark, you searched for your cell phone, which you had placed on the small coffee table before falling asleep. When your fingers finally hit the small, square device and enclosed it, you breathed a sigh of relief. But the relief disappeared just as quickly and gave way to the hectic when you saw how late it already was. You had about half an hour before the supermarket would close. By car, it took you about fifteen minutes… maybe ten if you were lucky with the traffic lights.
You closed your eyes again for a short moment and thought about whether it was really worth the stress to rush off. If you were thinking about your bank account, which was already in the red, you knew that you could not afford to order food. You puffed out the air in frustration and got up from the sofa. In record time you put on your shoes and jacket and grabbed your bag before you were in your car a few minutes later. When you stopped at a red light, your fingers drummed a rhythm on the steering wheel while you kept your eyes focused on the light.
Impatient, you honked at the person in front of you when they didn’t start moving as soon as the light turned green. When you made a turn and could see the park, which was only illuminated by the moonlight and the few street lamps, you exhaled with relief. All you had to do was drive past it, take the next right before you–
The suffocated scream got stuck in your throat when you pressed your foot on the brake. Your fingers clutched firmly into the steering wheel and you tried to yank the car to the side, but then you heard the dull thud that shook your car. With screeching tires, your car came to a halt and only the roar of the engine mixed with your loud heartbeat pumping blood through your body filled your ears.
Panic rose inside you as your eyes looked out at the road ahead, hoping to see something in the light of your headlights. You hoped that you had only imagined the small, dark tuft of fur that had run in front of your car. Perhaps a hallucination due to your lack of sleep? Maybe you had also imagined the impact. You were sure you had read about it on the Internet before.
Your cramped fingers hurt when you peeled them off the steering wheel and you noticed how they trembled – you didn’t know whether it was fear or overexertion – when you tried to loosen your seat belt. It took you three attempts until the belt finally rolled back and you were able to get out of the car. Immediately, your legs buckled under you and you had to support yourself against the door. In the cold of the late evening you could see your own breath, but still you were sweating. Hesitantly you tried to look around the fender of the car, hoping to see only the asphalt there. Unfortunately, fate did not seem to be on your side tonight.
You managed to stifle a sob when you saw the dog lying in front of your car. As fast as your shaky legs carried you, you ran to the huddled figure. You scratched your knees open as you let yourself fall next to him, but you hardly felt the pain. He showed no reaction to your presence and kept his eyes firmly shut. You looked up hoping to see his owner coming out of the park. But the path to the park was empty, as were the area around you. You were completely on your own and more than overwhelmed by that.
There was nothing else you could do. Without a second thought, you slid your hands under the dog’s body and grimaced when your knuckles scraped across the asphalt. But the dull pain in your hands was immediately forgotten when the dog whimpered softly. It was as if this sound loosened your rigidity and immediately hot tears streamed down your face. You lifted him up and brought him as fast as possible to your car where you carefully laid him on the back seat.
“I’m so sorry,” you brought out between sobs before you stroked his fur briefly and took a seat behind the wheel again. You blinked away the tears, even when new ones immediately took their place, and dialed your best friend’s phone number. While it was ringing, you started the car and made your way to the practice.
“Come on, Hoseok,” you mumbled and bit your lower lip to stop your teeth from clattering. You wiped tears from your face again with the back of your hand as the road in front of you blurred and slowed down. One accident would be more than enough for today. When you heard the familiar crack of the line as Hoseok answered the call, tears of relief mixed in.
“Y/N? Why are you calling so late–”
“Hobi!” you interrupted him and you could hear the panic in your own voice. “I’m on my way to your practice. I just hit a dog and I don’t know how badly he is hurt. Oh God, he’s not moving and he was just whimpering. I don’t know what to do.” Another sob escaped you.
“Hey, hey, it’s all right,” Hoseok tried to calm you down “I’m going straight to the practice, okay? It’ll be fine, you hear?” When you didn’t answer and suppressed more sobs, Hoseok asked again, “Okay, Y/N?”
You nodded. When you realized he couldn’t see that through the phone, you answered his question and hung up. Worried, you glanced over your shoulder at the brown dog who was still taking shallow breaths and lying motionless on your back seat. “It will be all right,” you repeated Hoseok’s words. Whether you wanted to calm the dog down or yourself, you didn’t know.

“I came as fast as I could,” Hoseok greeted you and opened the small veterinary practice. It had been his childhood dream to become a veterinarian and unlike many others in that age who had the same dream but dropped it when they’d grown older, his desire only grew stronger. Now, more than twenty years later, not only did he have nearly six years of training behind him, but he even had two employees working under him.
Tonight, however, the practice was empty and dark; hours ago, it had treated its last patient. “Lay him on here,” Hoseok said as he put on a gown and gloves and additionally disinfected his hands. Carefully you laid the dog on the hard table and a chill ran down your spine as you touched the cold metal. Immediately you wanted to pull him right into your arms again. But you knew you were here so Hoseok could help him.
“Let’s see what the little one has,” Hoseok said, more to himself than to you. You watched Hoseok palpate the dog before he pulled up his eyelids with his practiced movements and pointed a flashlight into his eyes. “He doesn’t appear to have a concussion.”
Relieved, you exhaled.
“But he seems to have broken one paw and at least one,” he palpated his torso again, “no, probably two ribs,” Hoseok finished his diagnosis for now. You wanted to throw up, so guilty you felt. “Could you hold him for a moment, just in case he suddenly moves? I’ll get the x-ray.” He looked up at you from the dog and immediately stepped towards you. “Is everything okay? Are you feeling dizzy? You look like you’re gonna faint.”
You shook your head, but which of his questions you denied you didn’t know. The tears that you had had under control ran down your cheeks again. When Hoseok saw this, he bridged the last steps to you and squeezed your shoulders tightly. “We can do this, Y/N. It’s nothing serious, I promise you. Almost daily we have people here who have hit an animal. It happens more often than you think.”
“Okay,” you answered quietly and Hoseok hurried to get the x-ray machine from the next room. Hesitantly, you stepped closer to the metal table and stretched out your hand. The dog’s fur was tattered and you even saw some bald spots where the fur was completely missing. You let Hoseok know as soon as he came back and pulled the device clattering behind him into the room.
“I know, I noticed that too. Seems like he had been living outside for a long time. At least a few months, if not more.” He plugged in the device and immediately the room was filled with the constant whirring of the lamp. “Put this on,” Hoseok said, holding out a dark blue gown. When you reached for it, you were surprised at how heavy it was. “Protects you from the radiation,” Hoseok explained, wearing the same gown and matching gloves. He pressed numerous buttons before he fixed the dog’s legs and started the machine.
It didn’t take more than ten minutes, but you were so restless that it felt like hours watching the dog lying lifeless in front of you. Hoseok turned the machine off and moved it to the side when the process was complete. Your eyes were still on the dog when he suddenly opened his eyes. Two dark orbs stared at you and you froze in place staring right back at him.
“We were lucky,” Hoseok said, and you flinched as his voice cut loudly through the oppressive silence. “His paw is only sprained, as is one of his ribs. One rib though is broken but this should heal on its own with rest and medication.”
Hoseok reached into a drawer and pulled out a small device that looked like a magnifying glass, but was made entirely of gray plastic. He moved it straight over the dog’s neck and after a few seconds he clicked his tongue in frustration. “He has no chip.”
“What does that mean?” You chewed on your lower lip and tasted the blood as one spot ripped open.
“That he has no owner, or at least we can’t find out who his owner is. The only thing I can do is check to see if a dog has been reported missing.” Hoseok began applying a bandage around the dog’s torso and, when he was finished, pressed a pack of medicine into your hand. “Three times a day, morning, noon, and in the evening. Just mix this into his food.”
Hoseok sat down at the computer and started to enter some data. Confused, you looked at the package in your hand. “What should I do with it?”
“Huh?” Hoseok asked over his shoulder.
“The medicine, what am I supposed to do with it?” You waved the little package in question in the air for him to see.
Now, Hoseok turned completely around to you. “You’re supposed to give those to him,” he answered, as if it were a matter of course.
“Hobi, I can’t take him home,” you clarified. “I have no experience with dogs. I have no food at home, no basket and no toys. And I have a job, how will that work?”
Hoseok sighed and let his head fall forward. When he looked up again, he had a mischievous smile on his lips. “He is not reported missing. If you don’t take him in, I’ll have to take him to a shelter.”
You didn’t say anything because you knew exactly what Hoseok was talking about.
“And you know what it’s like with animals that are injured. Many people shy away from taking on such an animal because of unexpected costs–”
“Yes, all right,” you interrupted your best friend and a triumphant smile spread across his face. “But I still don’t know how I’m going to manage all this,” you said with concern.
“Don’t worry about it,” Hoseok reassured you and he got up from his chair to approach you. “We have some dog food here and I’m sure I saw a toy somewhere. You can use a couple of blankets and pillows as a bedding, that’s enough for one night. And about work…” He rummaged in one of the many cupboards and took out two cans of dog food, “Didn't you say that you were going to work part-time? You have a big garden, so he can be alone for five hours. He won’t feel the need to run around much for the next few weeks anyway.”
When Hoseok told you all these things, you found it hard to say anything to him. He was right – you had a small, cozy house all to yourself, which you could never fill out alone. The garden was hidden behind the house and fenced in on all sides and you didn’t have to worry in your neighborhood anyway. You also had a secure job that brought you halfway good money…
With a smile, Hoseok handed you a small toy dog before carrying the real dog to your car. You put the two cans of dog food in the footwell and placed the toy dog right in front of the dog’s nose. Your heart began to beat faster when you watched his nose move and he picked up the scent of what were probably other dogs who had already played with the toy.
“He’s an Australian Kelpie by the way,” Hoseok said as you were about to get into your car. “Very intelligent animals and once he trusts you, very affectionate.”
You nodded. You knew what Hoseok was getting at.
You knew your best friend long enough to know that he would never forgive you if you took the dog to a shelter. But he didn’t have to worry – you felt way too guilty. You wouldn’t hit an animal and then dump him at the next opportunity in an animal shelter; out of sight, out of mind. You were not like that and you were not raised like that. You had always taken responsibility for your deeds – and also mistakes – and now would be no different.
Exhausted, you leaned back in your seat when you were on your way home. When you looked in your rear-view mirror and saw only two pointed ears, a little smile was stealing onto your face. But it fell right out of your face a second later as you turned back in shock. Indeed, the dog was no longer lying on the back seat, but had meanwhile sat up and looked at you.
“Hey, you are supposed to rest!” you scolded him as if he could understand what you were saying. “Not that you’re going to hurt yourself even more.” Anything else would have surprised you, but the dog stubbornly continued to sit and look at you. Two dark eyes watching your every move. Each of your facial features as you nervously chewed your lip or slid restlessly back and forth in your seat at a red light.
You were happy when you finally drove up your driveway to the house. “Here we are,” you told him and turned off the engine. You decided to check the damage to your car tomorrow morning before work. You didn’t know whether a visit to the repair shop was financially feasible at the moment. You doubted it when you looked at the dog behind you. It would not be cheap to buy all the necessary things for a dog. But it would be worth it for the fact that the house was no longer as quiet and deserted.
And slowly, very slowly, your guilt was replaced by another feeling; excitement.

You had to blink a few times to get the sleep out of your eyes and get used to the sun that was shining through your window. For a brief, calm moment, everything was like twenty-four hours ago. Your thoughts had not yet caught up with you and were still hanging on to the confusing dream that slowly sank further and further into oblivion. After a few more seconds, you had completely forgotten what it had been about.
You stretched and your bones cracked. It probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to do some exercise again. But… what would be an even better idea would be a big cup of coffee and a nice breakfast. By nice, you meant a bowl of the cheap cereal that was on sale at the supermarket last week. After your first bite a few days earlier, you could imagine why it had been on sale. It was amazing that cereal could taste like cardboard, but you never stopped learning, right?
You straightened up and let your legs dangle from the bed before you put them on the floor. At least you wanted to, but instead of the cold, hard laminate floor, you stepped on something fluffy and soft.
Immediately you pulled your legs up and leaned forward to look over the edge of the bed. Right. How could you have forgotten that? It really seemed that thirty seconds after waking up you didn’t remember anything.
You let your gaze glide over the bundle of dark brown fur that had curled up into a ball and had buried its nose almost protectively under its paws. Almost as if he wanted to hide from the world.
You stretched out your hand slowly. You had such a strong need to let your fingers slide through his fur. But in the middle of your movement you paused when you saw two eyes staring right at you between his paws.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” you muttered and pulled your hand back again. He had probably woken up when you almost stepped on him by mistake. You just didn’t seem to have any luck with the little four-legged friend. “Are you hungry?” you asked, hoping that he would forgive you your little mishaps with some food.
Immediately he pulled his head out from under his paws and raised his head. “You hungry?” you repeated and he tilted his head. You assumed that he still knew the word from his former owner and that he recognized it now. “Let’s go,” you said and stood up. You were careful to keep some distance between you and the dog. You didn’t know what he had experienced and if he liked physical proximity. But what you knew was that he was still watching you with a skeptical look.
You put on warm and cozy socks, which were still lying on the floor next to your bed from the previous evening, and made your way to the kitchen. When you took a bowl out of the kitchen cupboard and opened the can of dog food, your eyes fell on the dog, who was standing a few meters away and watching you. “What should I name you? I can no longer call you just dog.”
You went over some names in your head while you filled the food into the bowl. You put it on the floor and prepared your own breakfast. You didn’t have much choice anyway, so you were left with the cardboard flavoured cereal. Sighing, you pressed the button on the coffee machine and breathed in the scent that filled the room.
As you sipped from your cup, you watched the dog as he hesitantly paced towards the bowl. His nose picked up the smell of food in front of him, then he shook himself and nudged the bowl away from him. Astonished, you put the cup down on the worktop. “Don’t you like your food?”
The dog snorted and looked at you as if it was an impertinence that you even asked such a question.
“But you must eat something. I promise you, I’ll go shopping later and bring you something better. But for now, this will have to do, I’m sorry,” you explained to him. You knew he didn’t understand you, but you hoped that he could tell by the tone of your voice what you were trying to tell him.
The dog stared at you for a moment longer before making a sound that sounded almost like a sigh and he reluctantly walked towards the bowl. He sniffed at the indefinable mass once more before he hesitantly started to eat from it.
“Well, there you go,” you whispered and began to choke down your no less appetizing-looking breakfast. “And I’ll bring something for me, too. I swear, I wouldn’t be surprised if the packaging tastes better than the cereal itself,” you whispered in frustration.
When you put your empty bowl in the sink, you noticed that the dog had eaten his food too. He took a few steps back when you approached him to put the bowl away as well. Immediately you felt the lump in your throat and stopped moving. Slowly you let yourself sink into a crouch and carefully extended your hand.
His gaze was fixed on your hand, which was gripping the bowl. Just as slowly you straightened up again. You were already dreading it when you thought of the upcoming walk. How could this work when he hardly let you within a radius of less than one meter? You were surprised that he had even accepted to sleep beside you. But he probably had been too exhausted yesterday and hadn’t had the strength to move the blankets or find another place to sleep.
You supported yourself with your hands on the worktop and looked out the patio door into the garden. You could see even from a distance how the grass was covered with a blanket of fresh morning dew. The fog was still hanging in the treetops of the adjacent forest so early in the morning and it would probably take a few more hours before it disappeared.
Maybe it would be better if you only let him into the garden? At least there he would have the possibility to keep some distance to you. And that would probably also be better for his injury. Your lips were pressed into a straight line when your gaze fell on the white bandage around his one front paw and his torso.
You dispelled the guilt that was building up inside you and pushed yourself off the countertop to go to the patio door. “Would you like to get some fresh air?” You flinched at the loud noise the door made when you opened it. But the birds chirping their first songs brought a smile to your face as the sun carefully sent its rays over the trees.
You turned around to the dog, who also had his eyes on the garden. His tail swung slowly from side to side and you grinned. “Go ahead, you can go out,” you encouraged him and stepped aside so that there was enough space between you as he slowly walked towards the door. He looked at you once more before he put one of his paws first on the terrace and then followed with the other three. You watched him briefly as he explored the garden and slowly looked at the various bushes, shrubs and plants.
Your parents had always been keen on a well-tended garden. Even if it was not the biggest, it certainly offered enough work for one person. A narrow paved path divided the various flower beds from the small green area where you had always splashed in a small inflatable pool as a child. The path led to a garden gate that was built into the fence. This fence surrounded the entire garden, so you didn’t have to worry about unauthorized people entering the property or animals from the adjacent forest suddenly appearing in front of your patio door.
That’s why you checked one last time on the dog before you went into the bathroom. You wouldn’t want to be watched either during your morning business, so you gave him the few minutes of discovery and privacy. You needed the time to get ready before you had to go to the office as well.
To be honest, you often had a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach when you were on your way to work. You knew that these were probably not the best conditions for a healthy working atmosphere and that you might need to find a new job. However, that was easier said than done. The job prospects were rather bad in the small town, which was why you had been more than happy when you found this job right after your graduation.
Why exactly the job was available was something you experienced first-hand on your first day of work. You had just said introduced yourself to your new colleagues when they had already warned you about your new boss. Phrases like ‘absolute choleric’, ‘lazy bastard’ and other, far more vicious insults had been uttered even before they had told you their own names.
The fact that you had lasted so long at all was probably not very healthy for your overall well-being. But as soon as you had something new in sight, you would be gone faster than the insults of your boss yelled at you would reach you.
Almost automatically, you went back into your bedroom and put on your dark blue pinstripe pants and a plain white blouse. You looked at the crumpled up pile of blankets and pillows that you had made a makeshift bed. With a small smile and absorbed in thought, you loosened the pillows and rearranged the blankets neatly so that no bald spots formed in between and the dog had to sleep on the cold floor.
You went back into the kitchen and let your gaze wander over the various bushes in the garden and frowned. You leaned forward to catch a glimpse under the leaves of the bushes, but everything seemed quiet and your eyes didn’t notice any movement in the small rectangle.
Immediately your heart beat faster as you stepped onto the terrace and frantically continued to search the garden. “Doggie?” you asked quietly and more to yourself. “Where are you?” you asked louder this time and stepped onto the wet lawn. You felt the panic rising inside you and took quick steps towards the garden gate. You reached for the latch, but the lock was still in place. So it definitely could not have blown open or someone had stolen the dog from the garden.
Almost to tears, you turned back and flinched when the dog suddenly stood in front of you not even a meter away. “There you are!” you exclaimed in relief. You would love to bend down to him and fluff through his fur. But you held yourself back. “I was looking for you, I thought you had disappeared.”
You were almost embarrassed how weepy your voice sounded, although you had held back the tears well until now. Yet you couldn’t deny the pure relief that passed through you as he looked back at you.
“Shall we go back inside?”
When the both of you were back inside, you looked at your watch and knew that you should leave. You put another bowl of water for the dog, grabbed your bag and kept an eye out for him. This time you found him quickly. All you had to do was take a peek into your bedroom and hold back your laughter.
“Just so we’re clear,” you said gently, “this is my bed and I’m only allowing you to sleep in it today.”
He didn’t even look up, he just turned to the other side and you saw that as a clear sign to leave him alone and drive to work.

Five hours later you stepped out of the multi-story office building and could finally breathe again. The atmosphere in the small office, where you were all squeezed together, had once again been almost unbearable. In fact, it was already so bad that you considered a working day successful when your boss had paid no attention to you at all. Most of the time he sat in his own office, which took up a good third of the entire office.
The only thing you liked about your work were your colleagues. You were a sworn team and you allied yourselves against your boss when he went crazy again. It seemed there was something to the saying that a common enemy made you friends. At least you knew that the others were always behind you when your boss yelled at you. You also knew, purely rationally, that it had nothing to do with you as a person, but that it was his fault. But that didn’t make the situations any better when you’d rather hop into your car and drive home after one of his outbursts.
But then you didn’t even have to show up the next day.
When you sat down in your car and entered the destination in your cell phone, you had to smile despite everything. At least now you had something to look forward to at home. Someone would be waiting for you; or at least you hoped he would. He still seemed to be rather sceptical about you. But you were sure that this would change with time.
You pulled into the large parking lot of the shopping mall and already saw the large pet store. You were a bit excited when you took the note out of your bag on which you had written down the essential things you had to buy today. The store was well sorted and fortunately had everything you needed.
You were a bit overwhelmed with the food you had to choose. It felt like there were hundreds of different kinds of food, fish, beef, pork… how were you supposed to know which tasted good and which didn’t?
Your eyes fell on the bottom row of the shelf, in the very corner were a few cans, which were different in color from the others. You rolled your shopping cart to the side and crouched down to read the label on the cans. But you didn’t get a chance to read the label when you heard someone clearing their throat next to you. Immediately you turned your head and looked at the employee.
He moved the glasses that were sitting on his nose and had slipped down a bit back into place and gave you a nervous smile. “Can I help you?”
Surprised, you straightened up again. “Actually, yes, I’m a little overwhelmed, to be honest.”
“I understand,” he replied sympathetically, “hybrids are very complex beings. If you don’t give them the attention they need, they can be very resentful.” He pointed to the cans in front of you and you jumped aside in surprise to make room for him.
“Wait a minute, you’re talking about a hybrid?” you began wondering.
The man had taken your position in front of the shelf and grabbed one of the cans from the shelf. “You were in front of the shelf for hybrids, I thought… I thought you had a hybrid.” His smile was gone, what remained was a confused frown.
“Oh no, no,” you made yourself clear and waved your arms wildly in front of your torso, hoping to underline your statement. “He’s an Australian Kelpie, just an ordinary dog.” You threw him a smile, hoping to make the situation a little less awkward.
“Ah, okay,” he said and put the can back in its place, “Then you’re free to choose,” he went on and made a broad arm movement to the rest of the shelf.
“You don’t have much choice for hybrids,” you noted as you glanced again over the countless cans, almost dwarfing the handful of cans for hybrids by comparison.
The employee sighed, which made you turn your attention back to him. “You don’t know much about hybrids, do you?” Your expression seemed to alarm him because he promptly added, “No offense.”
“None taken, I just didn’t think it was that obvious,” you reassured him and took the can he handed you.
“This is perfect for Australian Kelpies. Especially for puppies to strengthen their bone structure.”
“Oh, he’s not a puppy anymore. To be honest, I don’t even know how old he is. But he’s definitely full-grown.”
“Oh, I see. You adopted a dog from a shelter. That’s very commendable. Then I recommend this one,” he said and handed you another can. “I also recommend a beef or veal bone, that will keep him busy for a while. And I would supplement the food with a simple but high-quality dry food.”
“Perfect, thank you so much! I just hope he likes the food. This morning he barely wanted to eat. Almost as if he was disgusted.”
“Hm, funny,” he replied, “normally they are very easy to care for and don’t have too high demands on their food. But dogs also have different personalities, maybe you have a little diva at home.”
You laughed and lifted the heavy bag of dry food into the cart. “I hope not.”

One hour and a car packed with groceries for you and your new resident later, you made your way home exhausted. The horrendous amounts of money you spent today you pushed far back and out of your consciousness. If need be, you had a little something put aside that you could fall back on if the money ran out at the end of the month.
“I’m back!” you shouted into the dead quiet house as you closed the door behind you and the purchases took up the entire entrance. You climbed over the dog bed and carried the groceries into the kitchen. You stowed everything in the refrigerator and the cupboards and were just about to go back into the hallway to get the rest when your eyes fell on the sink.
Your eyebrows were drawn together as you looked at the two bowls and the spoon that were on the tray for draining. Had you washed the dishes this morning? You were convinced that you had only put them in the sink. But maybe this process was already so automated in your brain that you hadn’t even noticed it.
Without a second thought, you grabbed the dog bed and dragged it into your bedroom. Your bed was deserted, so you just quickly picked up the blankets and pillows from the floor and put the dog bed in its place instead. You looked at the position for a moment before you pushed it with your foot half a meter away from your bed. You didn’t want to make the same mistake tomorrow morning, if you were still not used to having a dog sharing your room from now on.
“Where are you?” you shouted as you left the bedroom, looking for the dog in every room on the first floor. The house was not infinitely large, so it couldn’t be that difficult to find him. You paused for a moment and listened if you could hear the paws tripping somewhere, but the house was quiet.
With careful steps you climbed up the stairs. Most of the doors were locked and you actually thought you had closed all the doors. However, one of them was ajar, so that you headed towards it. “You in here, doggie?”
Carefully you pushed the door open and the question popped into your head how he had fitted through the slit. But this thought was displaced by the feeling that spread through you when you took a look into the room behind the door.
Your father had used this room as an office and you had hardly had the time (and money) to decorate the room the way you wanted it to be. Therefore there was only a simple desk in the room, numerous shelves that you had more or less filled with your things and documents, an easel with a blank canvas on it and your mother’s old piano that she had left you when she moved out. As a child, you had taken lessons twice a week, but hadn’t played in ages now.
Right in front of this dusty piano the dog stood on his hind legs. His front paws he had supported on the cushion of the seat. “What are you doing there?” you asked laughing and the dog’s head moved around to you. He must have pulled the seat out because you were sure you had never pulled it out from under the piano.
You crouched down and hesitantly stretched out your hands. To your surprise, he pushed himself off the chair and slowly came towards you. He stopped just before you and you waited a moment longer to see if he changed his mind and backed out. But he still stood in front of you and looked at you waiting. Slowly you approached one hand to his nose and held it out to him so he could sniff it.
But he ducked away from your hand and came another step closer so that his nose almost touched your upper body when he looked up at you. “Do you want me to pet you?” you asked, your voice no more than a whisper for fear he might shy away from the sound. Of course, no answer came back, so you let your hand, which was still hovering in the air, sink slowly. Gently your fingers came into contact with the fur on his back. You knew that once you had washed him, his fur would soften. Right now it was still ruffled and dirty from the weather outside. Who knew how long the poor guy was out there on his own…
You moved your hand up and down his back for a few more seconds before you slowly straightened up so as not to frighten him. “Shall we go outside?”
Immediately, his head rushed to you and a blink of an eye later he started jumping up and down. You had to laugh. “Not so fast, not that you hurt yourself,” you warned him, but by then he was already on his way to the stairs. You only heard his paws on the wood and hurried after him. When you came downstairs, his nose was already halfway into the shopping bags that contained the cans of his dog food. With a smile, you grabbed the harness from a bag to which you attached the leash.
You were relieved that the time alone had apparently done him good and that he had warmed up a little with you in the meantime. This would make things a lot easier if you tried to put the harness on him. You called him to you and were amazed at how well he obeyed you. Whoever his former owners had been, they must have raised him well. Without resistance, he had the harness put on.
You too became a little more courageous and stroked his chin. “I have thought of a name for you in the meantime, too,” you said and he tilted his head. “There was once a children’s series about a bear who got into trouble from time to time. You also look like you like to make some trouble.” He turned his head to the other side, as if to say: Me and trouble? Never.
“Anyway, you remind me of a bear, and grizzly didn’t quite fit. So how about Paddington?”
The dog in front of you almost snorted contemptuously and your smile disappeared. You had thought about it the whole time at work and found the name fitting. “Don’t you like Paddington?” Another snort, this time followed by a shake of his whole body. “Okay, okay, all right,” you said thoughtfully. “But you look like a slightly undersized bear and I think you like Winnie the Pooh even less.” This time the dog showed no reaction at all, just stared at you from his almost black eyes. “I’m just kidding, Baby Bear,” you reassured him and immediately his head shot up. “Oh, you like that nickname?” He took a step forward and licked your hand. “But it’s just a nickname, we still have to think of a real name. But it can wait.”
You straightened up with the leash in your hand and grabbed your keys. You both left the house through the patio door and went through the garden gate towards the adjacent forest. As a small child, you had often been afraid of the dark pines and large deciduous trees, which filtered much of the daylight with their canopy of leaves. Nowadays you loved the silence that surrounded you as soon as you stepped into the forest. It felt like a different world, all the stress was forgotten for a few minutes and the noise of the city fell silent. Instead, the songs of the birds, the rustling of the leaves in the wind and the sticks cracking under your feet as you stepped on them embraced you.
And you felt even better now that you had a little four-legged friend by your side.
You watched him stop here and there to smell plants or pick up a stick to drop it a few meters later when something else caught his attention. Normally at this time, and in general in this part of the forest, you did not meet a soul. That’s why the blood froze in your veins when the dog suddenly stopped as if frozen, so you staggered back a little when the leash was stretched. You didn’t realize that he had stopped, but when you saw his expression, you knew something was wrong.
You didn’t dare to ask what it was. Even if he couldn’t answer, you wanted to draw his attention back to you. Maybe he had just smelled a rabbit or heard a noise in the distance. The fact that he pointed his tail straight back and snarled his teeth did not necessarily mean that something was wrong. Or at least that’s what you tried to tell yourself.
You backed off a few steps so that you stood behind him and you half-heartedly pulled the leash to lead him back to the house. When you turned around, you could still see the top of the roof of your house between the trees. When you turned back, you thought you saw a silhouette standing between the trees. Immediately a shiver ran through you and the hairs on your arms stood up.
“Let’s go,” you whispered, that was all you were capable of. Again you pulled on the leash, but this time the dog growled in front of you. Still he had not turned his gaze away from his intended target. But when you looked in the same direction, you couldn’t see more than the small forest path leading into the gloom of the forest. But that changed a second later when a figure stepped out of the bushes. At first you only heard the rustling of the leaves, then you saw the branches being pushed aside as a big grey wolf came towards you.
Instinctively you recoiled, you had the leash so tightly wrapped around you that your fingers hurt. You tried to pull the dog towards you, but he did not move a bit. You thought about running back to the house alone. Maybe you could call Hoseok, but even that wouldn’t help you at this moment. You didn’t want to leave the dog alone with the wolf. Maybe they would get into a fight or he would run away in front of a car of the next speeder.
No. You kept clutching the leash and trying to remember what you had read, how to react when a wolf was facing you. You were sure that the majority had assured you that wolves were so shy that they avoided humans. So why this wolf came closer and closer to you was a mystery to you. You were unsure whether you should continue to stand there as if rooted in the ground or chase him away with loud noises.
But even if you wanted to make a sound – it did not work. Not even the smallest sound came out of you. You couldn’t even breathe properly when you watched the wolf stop right in front of you. His gaze lay on your dog and the two of them seemed to be having a staring contest. Whether this was a good sign or meant that they would start attacking at any moment, you did not know. But you were sure that you would find out at any moment.
The wolf gave a deep growl of itself, which went through your marrow and leg and you had to suppress a shiver. Your dog also gave another growl and he took a confident step forward. You were pulled along and gave a choked gasp of fear. This did not go unheard by the two animals in front of you and suddenly the attention of the wolf was on you.
You dodged his gaze and turned your head to the side, hoping to turn his attention away from you as quickly as possible. You flinched as your dog growled again, this time louder and slowly backed away. You took this as an unspoken invitation to imitate him and to go backwards as well. Step by step you brought more and more distance between you and the wolf, which turned around after a few steps and disappeared back into the forest.
You ran as fast as your feet carried you back to the house. Startled, you cried out when you almost ran over a rabbit, which hopped back into the bushes. But you had no room in you to feel guilty. Too great was the fear inside you. You could only exhale with relief when you had closed and locked both the garden gate and the patio door behind you. But for the rest of the afternoon and evening you felt as if the inhabitants of the forest were watching you and the tops of the trees gently swaying in the wind were laughing at your naivety.
