one thing that's been talked about here and by creators and is obvious but still important to articulate (to me) is that oliver is not envious of the cattons because they are wealthier than him, necessarily. it's not about the money. or it is, but in a way that everything in life is about money: no matter how much you have, you kind of always want more, because want is a very strong driver. he's not coming from a place of poverty or any financial need at all, and he is not genuinely burning with the anger at the rich as a working-class guy constantly overpowered by them. there is no righteousness of the oppressed in his motives; sure, he "knows how to work", but to me—and this is, again, personal interpretation—the more important part is that the cattons "made it so easy" for him to take everything from them. it doesn't matter where oliver is coming from, ultimately (which is why he is so pointedly an upper middle class kid, quite comfortable, not a struggling genius he paints himself to be). for oliver, and for his audience, what matters is what he wants, not why he wants it; how badly he wants, how deep inside his own desire he is.

in short, it's not that the cattons had something he didn't have. it's just that they had something he wanted.

Accurate Storytelling

This is a quick one, but it's something I thought was really fun about Dagur in "The Night and the Fury." When he was retelling the story about what happened on Berk during the treaty, he was VERY honest. He didn't try to retell it like the dragons showed up, he fought them, saved some people, and then left. Heck, the way he described it actually made him look worse than what happened😂. He made it sound like Hiccup told him to evacuate and he just immediately ran, but he did delay a bit as he thought over what he wanted to do and he definitely was trying to fight before then. It's just funny to me because I think of Snotlout and he 100% would have described everything like he'd been the hero the whole time. Meanwhile, Dagur's all, "You said run, so I did😶. It was super cool when you fought the Night Fury though 🤩🤩!"

like why did they change where Vegeta was when Cell announced the cell games in the anime

why did they make this vegeta starting shit with yamcha instead of chillin in the lab with his family? why did they take Bulma out of the lab? Why'd they say she was Out while Dr Brief was repairing 16? Why did they change Bulma working on advanced robotics to running in late with her baby?

it's the same scene except: - Bulma's actively at work being a scientist - Vegeta's not being rude to her (or anyone else!) - Vegeta waits for Trunks instead of leaving the room - Cell interrupted the airwaves, which means Trunks and Vegeta were just hanging out with Bulma and Dr B while they were working

Those are all Great Character Details!! That the anime rails against!!

more morning thoughts. i also did not expect to make as many friends as i have over the past year living in michigan. i have my inner circle of my former coworkers and best friends who i see weekly, and a looser web of friends and acquaintances and friends-of-friends that i see less often. i think this is because 1. most of the people i have become fast friends with are also neurodivergent and operate on a similar wavelength and 2. i just walk up to people and start talking. i am, as my friends describe, a "social butterfly," which is shocking because i used to be a complete and total hermit. zero offline friends, and it was hard to keep ones i met. i owe coming out of my shell to my time in dinner theatre, where my circle of friends there got me out of the house and into the world. traveling on my own too helped so much. when i got to visit a dear friend in california, it was my first time traveling by plane, and it instilled a lot of confidence (despite some hiccups at the atlanta airport in which i missed my flight because i had somehow accidentally made my way out of the security area. a kind stranger saw me upset and helped me find a staff member, who then reassured me that everything was going to be okay and passed me onto a flight attendant, who then helped me get onto the next plane. a beautiful chain of kind strangers.) but anyways, another story for another time. my grandma also says i never meet a stranger. the more i think about it the more true it feels. i go to the bar every once in a while, and every time i do, i end up talking to someone new. i compliment people's outfits, i offer a light or a cigarette to those who need it, i am always on the look out for anyone who's having a rough night and needs a kind word, and all of these invite conversation. i've made many acquaintances this way, people who remember my face and think of me fondly. people who i can rely on to keep an eye out for danger, who will watch my back on nights out. it feels very good to know that people genuinely consider me a pleasant person to be around. i didn't know what kind of person i would grow to become living independently, but i have come to find out people consider me kind and reliable. i was told my whole life i was a terrible person, manipulative and selfish and cruel, but i know now i am the total opposite. my parents just sucked the life out of me. many such cases. anyways, i have been reflecting a lot on the past year. i am very thankful for the person i have grown to become, and look forward to seeing what my future is like now that i have a future. i am also thankful for the many many friends who have supported me along the way. i wouldn't be where i am without the people in my life who have helped me get my life truly started.

In that moment, Ahsoka truly understands that Barriss was simply lost and shattered beyond reason.
