I could wax on for many, many posts about The Case for Crystal Palace and the amazing chemistry we see between Edwin (George) and Charles (Jayden). But for now, allow me to wax on about this scene.

They are having an emergency meeting in their non-soundproof closet (Guys. Crystal can hear every word.). We know how much Edwin cherishes the agency, cherishes Charles. We just saw an entire montage showing how well they work together, a synchronization formed over decades of working side by side. They're a well oiled machine. Partners. Best mates. And, *insert record break scratch*, change is afoot. There's a live human girl in their office. Edwin's sharp eyes have clocked the way Charles looks at her, and his fists clench at the suggestion that a *human girl* could join their Dead Boys Detective Agency. It threatens EVERYTHING they have painstakingly built over the last thirty years.

There's not even a client! And certainly, they wouldn't allow a kidnapped human child to be their client. That is, to put it simply, not how they work, despite how insistent Crystal is acting as she flings open the closet door and barrages him with opinions that most assuredly do not matter. But then, Charles gives him *that look*. The one where earnestness sparkles in his chestnut colored eyes.

And he says, "Oh, come on, Edwin! Wouldn't it be good to get out of town for a bit?"

And he adds, voice dropping an octave, "...what with Death being in our office so recently."

And the proverbial nail in the coffin, "...and besides. You're really going to let a little American girl die?"

Ah, checkmate.

Edwin sighs, eyes closed in defeat. Charles grins like the Cheshire Cat that he is.

Because, how can he say no to that?

Season 2 episode 2 is almost nothing but misery and anguish #Helena by Nickle Creek does not quite fit the comic's vibe but it is absolutely a Xue Yang song so I linked it.#The change from “Helena don't walk away...(gentle)” to “HELENA. DON'T WALK AWAY (threat)” is fantastic.#And “Don't waste your pretty sympathy - I'll always be just fine”. Xue Yang core.#Okay now for the real meat. Disclaimer first: *I really like XY.* I think he's a great character. I think his actions consistently-#come from a place of deep trauma. While his reactions and actions put him in a villainous role he is still human about his hurt #and what I'm about to say is NOT intended to be a statement of causality or villianize a group of misunderstood people.#So with that said...Man oh man does Xue Yang have a lot of BPD traits. More that just 'character who is chronically manipulative'.#The impulsivity and emotional reactions and seeking stability makes him feel like he needs that control. What other choice is there?#The part that really gets me is how he *wants* to be safe and happy. But his past experiences tell him how thats impossible #He's the kind of person who goes 'if you don't like me then you better hate me for something substantial". All (pos) or All (neg)#''Love me entirely or Hate me. But don't you dare leave me or forget about me.''#Not at all comfortable saying 'BPD coded'. Im not a psychiatrist. Just that he has TRAITS. #Brakul did a lot of the parenting for Erubi (the first of the Janeys-Brakul-Hibrides throuple bastard children) in infancy especially due #to Hibrides going through absolutely horrific post-partum depression (and not wanting to be a parent to begin with. Like she #had accepted it as an inevitability and a duty but when it actually happened it was just like Oh God. I am in hell)#Brakul is the only one of the three that actually Wants to be a parent and the fact that he can't behave as such in order to avoid #suspicion that he's the father is kind of a living nightmare for him a little.#Not like he isn't involved in his ''''nieces''' lives given he lives in the same household but he has to keep a bit of distance.#Janeys and especially Hibrides are pretty unsympathetic about this. For Hibrides it's like she has had to go through so much shit #to maintain this situation she never asked to be a part of and when he has to go through a fraction of that he breaks the fuck down.#He only wants the benefits of the whole situation and isn't willing to deal with the consequences.#This is also one of the very few things she's sympathetic with Janeys about like she respects that he's at least willing to play #his part and be miserable without bitching to her about it. Like she fucking hates him but respects the commitment to the bit.#Janeys is more just like 'Just go make more kids if you want your own so damn bad. Get a wife or something. That's what I #had to do and look at me I'm doing great I'm so normal'#The two kids aren't present on the pilgrimage (back home under the care of a hired tutor) but the Janeys-Brakul-Hibrides #Feeling Triangle are in a fucking tailspin over her being pregnant again like goddddd not this shit again #brakul red dog

Mace and Dooku are suddenly attacked from the rear in their confrontation with the Raxus soldiers.

Dooku: Busts out his patented behind-the-back, elegant Makashi defense move.

Mace: PARKOUR!
