Betty
Alex Summers x Hank McCoy
Babe wake up I have a new hyperfixation with X-men!!! This is gonna be multiple parts and is inspired by Betty by Taylor Swift hence the title so I recommend listening to that song and reading the lyrics!
Pairing: McSummers ( Alex Summers and Hank McCoy)
Timeline: Highschool AU but still with the cast of X-men first class
Summary: While professor X is helping everyone control and use their mutations an unlikely pair find comfort within the mansion walls.Â
During the long days of training there was hardly a moment of silence in the mansion, between Seanâs actual screaming and Mystique insistent pestering of her brother no one ever had to wonder if there were people inhabiting the house. They spent almost every moment together, the team. This was the most socializing Alex had done in years and it was draining at first. When the summer was just beginning he barely said anything that wasnât a sarcastic remark or a scoff. This is so stupid.
Get out of my head Charles.
Yes Hank youâre still a bozo!
No Mystique that skin doesnât make you look fat but it does help you look like a blueberry if thatâs what you were going for.
She screamed about that last one for at least 3 days telling anyone whoâd listen how small Alexâs feet looked.Â
By mid July they were moving better, each person had a role and they could help each other out in case they ever needed to. They werenât exactly a well oiled machine but it would do if they ever got caught up. Everyone had spent a couple days on bedrest and luckily it was Hanks turn to play nurse with Alex after Sean accidentally dropped him while testing out his new wings.Â
He was as the first to run out to the field and apologize about how there must be something wrong with the wings design. Alex looked like he couldnât care less about his apology he just wanted to lie down or throw up or both.
âYou should really let me help you back to the house. Head injuries are really dangerous thereâs a number of things that could go wrong like internal bleeding, aneurisms-â Hank began
âWell are you going to help or are you just going to list out all the shitty things that could happenâ Alex said while hunched over his head began to spin the moment he stood up but it got worse as he spoke.
âUh. yeah sorry. Just hold onto my arm and walk slow. Sean get his other armâ
Slowly they made their way back to Alexâs room. It was not as easy as originally thought with Alex needing frequent breaks and his constant grumbling. When they finally got him to his room he dropped onto the bed trying to sleep immediately.Â
âActually Alex you shouldnât sleep, just in case you have a concussion...â Hank whispered. He stood by the door making no further attempt to enter his room.
âWonderful.â muffled by the pillow resting on top of Alexâs face. This is the longest theyâve been forced to interact. Hank wants to leave and return to the comfort of the lab where there are no rude comments or handsome boys in need of assistance but part of him feels responsible for what happened and it wouldnât be right to just leave him there.Â
âWe have some pain killers downstairs. Try not to fall asleep while I'm gone.â He says. Before Alex can even register what was said he's alone. The only reminder that Hank was ever here was his smell which Alex only now realizes he can recognize. He always thought it might've been someone else but now he's sure that it's Hank that smells that good. Not that he'll ever tell him it's just a nice distraction from his head. He hears footsteps approaching his room again and forces his thoughts on Hanks smell all the way out of his head.Â
âTook you long enough BozoâÂ
âI donât suppose youâd appreciate it if I threw these out the window then?â he replies
âYou wouldnât. Now hand them overâ Alex says sitting up and reaching out toward Hank who was still not through the door of his room.
âWhatâs the magic word?â he says laughing lightly at Alexâs grabby hands. He never had the upper hand in this dynamic making this the most pleasant time.
âYouâre kidding...god dude! just pleaseâ Alex mumbles out still reaching toward him. Underneath the teasing Hank was watching Alex delicately to see if he was really in need of help.
âMake sure you drink all the water and when you feel better, come to the lab. Youâre natural body temperature should burn these off pretty quickly so when you come in I'll start an IVâ he says as he hands him a glass of water and painkillers, leaving the snacks on the nightstand.Â
Their hands brush against each others momentarily before Hank makes his way out of the room. Itâs too suffocating to be this close to him.Â
Hank walks briskly down the corridor and hopes he doesn't run into anyone on the way to the lab. His cheeks were definitely ablaze from the small interaction with Alex and he knew he'd never hear the end of it if anyone saw. He really needed to let off some steam, only seeing the same people everyday for weeks was starting to take a toll. Obviously he knew about his sexuality before Alex was welcomed to the school but things were different with the blond around.Â
Later, as Alex was hooked up to his IV Hank sat in his chair looking at something under a microscope.
âWhat are you working on? New wings for Sean I hopeâ Alex questionedÂ
Without looking up,Â
âNo actually, Iâm trying to help Raven. She asked if I could make her something that would help keep her physical appearance normal without altering her mutant abilities. Itâs quite interesting really, her cells regenerate like crazyâÂ
Alexâs head turns to the side slightly. âWhy would she want something like that?â He asks
Thereâs a pause.Â
âSome people with physical mutations just want to look like everyone else. She spends a lot of energy disguising herself, this should help her be stronger.â he says jotting something down
Hanks feet shift uncomfortably in his shoes, he wishes Alex would leave the lab so he could take them off.
Alex doesnât reply immediately and instead chooses to stare at Hanks side profile as he writes.
it never occurred to him how hard it might've been to hide as kids, when you didn't know any better than to be yourself. He was too preoccupied with trying not accidentally kill one of his foster parents to care about how he looked, then again he didn't turn blue.
his gaze shifts towards Hanks feet and then back up like he was caught doing something wrong even if Hank had barely looked over toward him.
"Is that why you always wear shoes even though we've already seen your feet?" Alex asks
Seeing the look on Hanks face, he immediately wishes he didn't. It winces slightly as he begins to chew on the inside of his cheek. Alex really feels like an asshole now.
"I didn't mean for that to sound bad but you should be comfortable around us, at least as your...friends" He spoke trying to sound compassionate but it ends up sounding unsure, like he doesn't know if he wants Hank to be comfortable around him at all.
"we're not friends Alex, You make that clear everyday." he says finally making eye contact
There's a heavy pause and Alex's mouth hangs slightly open. his first instinct is to fight back and tell Hank how wrong he is. Once that feeling subsides he realizes he's right. They don't talk, or help each other, the most interacting is when Hank reminds Alex to eat and he calls him a Bozo.
When the pause is over Hank breaks first, looking back towards his research.
"Maybe we're not friends but you shouldn't hide from us. Especially not me, I've had enough shame for 3 lifetimes. They're a part of you, even if you don't like it. I'm sure girls would love to see you do the monkey bars upside down" he smiles.
"Yeah I'm sure they would love that. That along with my habit of kissing guys should really seal the deal" Hank says with a scoff.
This shutâs Alexâs mouth immediately. There wasnât anything he could say to make the situation any less awkward. He leans back in the chair, looking over at the clock. The IV was almost done and then he was cleared to lay down. This whole day felt too long, there was too much to think about and Alex preferred to flee when feelings were involved.Â
Hank didnât stop working for another 20 minutes going back between his microscope and notes. When he was done he turned to Alex to help remove the IV.
âYou should be good to lay down now, itâs almost dinner you should eat if you canâ He said in a low voice. It had only just occurred to Alex that Hank always reminds him of mealtimes, him and no one else. Like he needed that help, like a prisoner. Anger flared up inside of him like a familiar friend.
âI donât need you to tell me when to eat and shit, I can take care of that myself thanksâ Alex cuts
He wishes he didnât but the words were already out of his mouth with a scowl to match. His arm was stinging, his head was still fuzzy, and he couldnât handle the way Hank was avoiding his gaze. Thatâs not what Hank meant he just knew that Alex was still convinced he was still in prison sometimes especially after a hard day. Hank makes a point to not speak again in their brief time, when heâs alone in the lab again he takes off his shoes and cries.Â
Things were different after that night. Hank was convinced that Alex was weirded out by his random confession and Alex didnât want to make anything worse so they just decided to stop talking all together. Not that they were exactly besties before, but now they were practically strangers. Weeks went by with this dynamic. One would accidentally make eye contact the other would quickly leave the room. No one said anything if they noticed and figured that they had gotten into another fight or something and it would blow over,Â
Hank had finally finished his formula for Raven. it had taken entirely too much time to make due to the complexity of her genes but he enjoyed the challenge nonetheless. The only thing now was to test it. Being the good scientist he was, he decided to use himself as the test subject. It should only take a moment to work and then he could go out and show everyone his feet, which was not something he would normally be fond in doing. But he trusted his theories and was confident in his abilities.Â
Alex was the last person to show up in front of the lab door. There was a chorus yelling out for Hank to open the door.
âWhat happened?!Why is everyone yelling?â he asked
Darwin was first to answer, â We heard a bunch of noise from the lab but Hank wonât open the door and it sounds like someone's in there with him.âÂ
Turning to the Professor for answers was no help, he looked like he was in great pain, presumably reading Hanks thoughts.Â
Alexâs breath caught in his throat as he heard a series of painful cries behind the door and joined the rest of his friends in trying to coax Hank out of the room. Something was very wrong and it made Alexâs stomach turn in a way he hadnât felt in a long time.Â
âCome on Bozo open the door!âÂ
âHank please! We can help, just let us inâ said Mystique. Followed by yet another round of pleas.
Nothing.
The odd shower of noises continued and their cries fell on deaf ears as Hank continued to ignore them. Finally Charles put his hand up effectively silencing everyone in the corridor.Â
âIâm okay. Just go to bed, Iâm sorry for waking everyone up...Iâm sorryâ Spoke Hank through the titanium door. Everyone looked at each other before shifting toward the door once more.
âWeâre not leaving until we can see that your okayâ Angel spoke softly.Â
âCome on Hanky show us that face!â Said Sean laughing lightly
âReally guys, I'm fine I just want to be alone for now.â Something was off in his voice.Â
Even as he tried to sound reassuring and calm there was an edge. Alex knew that voice very well, the one used for hiding, for when youâre terrified and no one can know. He had used that voice with Scott when they were five and his foster dad came home drunk looking for a fight, he used it again when he was 15 and someone threatened his life for the first time, he used it everyday since he found out about his mutation. He used it three weeks ago in the lab when Hank had gently reminded him to eat.
Hank, who was as dorky and kind as they come, was horrified in this moment and Alex didnât like it at all. Waiting for everyone to clear out Alex stood, standing, unmoving with his back pressed to the door. He waited, listened, for any noise that would indicate Hank was hurt.Â
âHank. Everyone went to sleep. Itâs just me, open the door.â Alex said in his kindest voice.Â
It didnât sound like Alex at all frankly. Hank had never heard him call him by his name or sound so sincere.Â
âNo. Something happened and I need to fix it before I come outâ he replied
âYeah and exactly how long will that take? I can wait here all night but Iâm not leaving from this spot.â He replied, sliding down the wall to sit in front of the door.
If he was gonna be here all night he could a least get comfortable. They made small talk on other things besides what was goin on. It was jagged at first, they interrupted each other and sometimes Hank wouldnât respond cuz he was too busy. Slowly they talked more freely, they talked about anything they could think of. Like how Alex was gonna try out for the football team in the fall, Hank in delirious exhaustion promised heâd be at every game. Alex fell asleep just as daylight started to seep into the sky after thinking about Hank and football.Â
He did in fact, stay where he was. The sun was rising though the stain glass window when he decided to get up and stretch.
âYou know Bozo sleeping on the floor isnât exactly doing wonders for my back so this solution better show up quickly.â He said stiffly. Despite this, his night was pleasant enough. They were talking, like actually talking in a way neither of them has the pleasure of doing in too long. It was simple, and so human.Â
âYou didnât have to stay. And youâre right, sleeping on the floor is not very fun but you get used it.â Hank replied, â Iâve spent a lot of nights in this lab..â
Before the mood turns sour Alex smiles and replies,
âYeah well maybe next time you donât have to do it alone, I make great company when Iâm trying to annoy someone.âÂ
That day Alex brings Hank food, his favorite snacks. Each time he turns the other way when Hank comes out to grab it. And they go on talking through the door. Each sentence flowing out easier than the last, each pause less tense. There was something about Alexâs lack of social skills that refreshed the brunet, there was no lying or hidden meanings just the words Alex spoke. On the second night Alex brought Hank a full meal, he was âstarvingâ apparently.Â
Alex turns back toward the door when he thinks itâs safe and catches what looks like a furry blue hand retrieving the plate. His mind canât keep track of al the thoughts racing through his head as he tries to convince himself that what he just saw wasnât real. And if it was real then what exactly was hidden away behind the walls of Hanks sanctuary. How could he even go about asking about what he just saw? Would Hank tell him the truth?Â
He settled for his usual, blunt casual.
âYou mind telling my why youâre hiding a giant blue.... uh,â what even could he call that hand he saw? â ..beast in your lab? Anything youâd like to share with the class?â He asks still facing the now closed door.
Hank backed away from the door slowly. His pulse was getting faster and faster as he found it hard to remain calm. This would ruin everything. There was no recovering this and there was no way Alex would even look at him like this.Â
âYou said you wouldnât turn around until you heard the door close! Why didnât you wait? God you just.... just leaveâ He angrily pushed away the food, he felt like he was going to be sick.Â
Alex glared at his own reflection in the door. This is the part he isnât good at. He wants to curse and scream and bang on the door like a child.Â
What a way to treat a friend.
âLeave? After all this you want me to just walk away? Not a chance. Now come out of that fucking lab before I burn it!â It was Alexâs turn to be angry. Hank felt assured that his door was locked but slowly realized Alex really could melt his way through the door. It was now or never, and if it were up to him it would be never.
âIf you come in,â his voice was smaller now,â you have to promise me somethingâÂ
There was a pause where Alex took a deep breath.
âPromise me you wonât run away.â
Fuck.Â
âYouâve asked me to do one of the things I do best. Sure, I wonât run away.â
The door opened a sliver, a crack, and finally a blue hand grabbed Alexâs forearm and pulled him though the threshold.Â
At first all he saw was blue.Â
The most brilliant shades of blue were everywhere, he couldnât tell where Hank started and ended. For a moment, he looked like a blue flame, burning bright holes into Alexâs vision.Â
But when the blur cleared into crystal, he saw Hanks eyes, dazzling and yellow, but still his own. They were bright and unsure now, tears streaking down his face. He hadnât even realized he begun to cry until he heard the tears drip onto the floor. There was nothing but the sound of breathing and tears.Â
Hank wishes Alex would say something and get it over with. But he promised he wouldnât run away, he promised. They begin the waiting game now, seeing who will break and make the first move.Â
Itâs Alex. Reaching out to touch the fur where Hanks shoulder meets his neck. Its soft, and thin. Thereâs a heat radiating off his body and he can feel it now as their skin touches. Like predator and prey they study each other, the movements, the heartbeats, looking for a sign of danger. Hank studies Alexâs eyes as they roam over his body.Â
The moment breaks again when Hank realizes how vulnerable he feels now in the open. He assumes Alex will have questions.
âIt was an accident. This was supposed to disguise my mutation but instead it enhanced the genes that made me have mutations in the first place. If I can find out what went wrong I can fix it, have it return me to normal. This is why I didnât want you to come in here earlier.â He moves away now, pretending to look at something on the other side of the room.Â
Alex still canât wrap his head around the fact that itâs Hank talking to him.Â
âI thought I was a freak before but this is something much worse. If I canât fix this Iâll be stuck in this room forever. Thereâs no way people will want me around like this... I just wanted....to not be me for a bit.â It worked he thought bitterly.Â
âI made you a promise. Sadly my little brother Scott says that people who break promises are poopoo heads and I have no intention of getting that put on the back of my football jersey.â He laughs, it comes out a little rough but itâs a laugh.
The thought of that makes Hank smile a bit. Maybe this wouldnât be so bad if Alex as here to help.
They spend the next three days in the lab working. Well, one of them working, one of them fetching snacks and talking about how boring this all was. Despite that, he still listened and asked questions with intensity. If Hank didnât know any better he would say Alex was enjoying the science of it all.Â
After that they were inseparable. Everything happened together. If he wasnât training Alex was sitting in the chair just right of Hank in the lab. And Hank let him. He integrated himself into Hanks routine with ease only making miner changes. Instead of staying inside all day after dinner they walked around outside waiting for the sun to go down. During breakfast they sat together Alex always grabbing food off of Hanks plate. On the weekends they drive through the town with the windows down blasting music too loud. Itâs safe to say they were obsessed with it all. The feelings of new. New everything, like the sun hadnât looked this bright three weeks ago. New gazes, lingering in the haze of sunset and those calm eyes in the late evenings hidden behind books. Newness seeped onto their tongues, on their fingertips, settled in their cheeks and the lining of their stomachs. It was intoxicating.
Everyone noticed but never said anything. There was still a world outside the castle gates that didnât take kindly to boys who spent so much time together.Â
They hardly remembered a time where they didnât meet up before breakfast and only separate before bed at night.Â
Almost like falling asleep there was no exact moment when Hank realized he was falling for Alex. He remembers the way his eyes would look in the sun, the golden hairs that trailed Alexâs neck, the way after a long day Alexâs words would slur from exhaustion, the way he had a special name for Hank even if it was mean. Thatâs the way it went, and if he could remember that one moment when it went from crush to love then it would blend into the million other moments when Alex made his head spin.Â
Alex however, feared this new thing and kept every memory like an oath. He memorized it, repeating the small touches and laughs over until they were burned clearly into his head. He remembered the exact moment he realized that he wanted Hank. To be near him, to be the one who made him laugh, to be the one who kept him company, no matter the consequences. He wanted it all and he only knew the night of his 17th birthday, when they hadnât talked for 3 weeks and Hank showed up hammered and still as beautiful as ever. Only then did Alex realize he didnât know anything but how much he missed Hank.Â

Birthday Boy
Happy birthday to my favorite fictional boyfriend. Just some fluff in honor of Buckyâs birthday.
Word count: 2k
Warnings: this is just fluff, maybe a few curse words. Enjoy!!
_____________________________________________________
Bucky and Y/n were sitting on the couch watching Hot Tub Time Machine.
âIâm telling you, Buck. The douchey ski patrol guy looks just like you!â Y/n insisted. Every time the actor popped up on the screen, Bucky just shook his head.
âI donât see it, Doll.â
âThen you need glasses, old man!â
âOld man?â Buckyâs head snapped in Y/nâs direction. He had an incredulous look on his face. âYou werenât calling me old man last night.â
âNot my fault youâre going blind, Babe. Sebastian Stan is clearly your doppelganger. Your younger doppelganger,â Y/n said with a smirk, putting emphasis on younger. She knew she was picking a battle with Bucky but she wanted to see how far he would let her go before putting an end to it.
Bucky knew what she was up to. He loved seeing her smile, even if it was at his expense, but he was only going to let her go so far.
âI see how it is.â He leaned over and pushed her to lay down, climbing on top of her. Bucky grabbed her hands and pinned them above her head with his metal hand, his flesh hand moving down her sides, tickling her.
âBucky, NO!â Y/n yelled out. âI was just teasing. With your birthday tomorrow, I gotta get my shots in while I can! You know I canât help myself.â She squirmed her body, trying to move away.
Bucky shifted so his legs were on either side of Y/nâs, effectively trapping her. He started tickling her sides.
âNO! BUCKY!!â Y/n tried to pull her body away, but he was too heavy on top of her.
âIâll show you old man.â While tickling her, he started kissing her face and neck. They were laughing, Y/n trying to desperately get away from Buckyâs hand, when Bucky felt cold water hitting his back.
âHEY!â Bucky yelled, turning around. He saw Sam and Steve standing there, laughing.
âI had to cool you off,â Sam said. He held up an empty glass and shook it. âNo sex on the couch.â
Bucky let go of Y/n and got up to run after Sam. âGet over here, Birdbrain.â
Sam took off running to his room with Bucky close behind him.
Y/n looked at Steve. âHe was tickling me because I called him old man. But he refuses to acknowledge he looks like the actor in Hot Tub Time Machine!â
The movie was at a scene with Blaine, the character Y/n was referring to. She pointed to the screen and Steve looked.
âI donât see it.â Steve shrugged and walked off.
âArgh! Thor save me from old men who need glasses!â
The next morning, Y/n got up before Bucky to cook him breakfast. She had a day planned of doing activities Bucky loved. She made pancakes, bacon, and eggs with some coffee and loaded up a tray with the food. She made her way back to their shared room. Bucky was not in bed, but she could hear him in the bathroom.
âDoll?â Bucky called out.
âI have breakfast. I was hoping youâd still be in bed, or did I not tire you out?â Y/n cheekily answered.
Bucky stuck his head through the doorway. âI thought I had tired you out.â
Y/n just rolled her eyes. âGet out here, birthday boy, so I can give you your first present.â
Bucky quickly made his way over to the bed. âBreakfast with you is a good present.â
He settled onto the bed and Y/n placed the tray over his lap. âA hearty breakfast to get through the morning, because weâre going on a little trip.â
Bucky looked intrigued. âAre you going to tell me where?â
âNope. I did think we could take your bike, since itâs a gorgeous day out.â
âYou know how to drive a motorcycle? And who said I would be okay with you driving my bike?â
âOne, rude. Two, I got lessons from Steve. I can get us to where we are going no problem. I even did a test drive with Steve a few days ago.â
Bucky looked impressed. âI still donât know.â
Y/n looked at Bucky with a pout. âPlease, Baby? I promise I know what Iâm doing and I really want this to be a surprise.â
Bucky hesitated. He had a hard time saying no to her but he also loved his bike. âFine, but if you seem hesitant at all, we pull over and switch.â
âDeal!â Y/n smiled widely. âNow dig in, Baby.â
They ate their breakfast and then got dressed for the day. As they made their way to the garage, Y/n held up a blindfold.
âYouâre not wearing that while driving,â Bucky joked.
Y/n gave him an unimpressed look. âYouâre wearing it first. I want this to be a surprise. Iâll wear it later if youâre a good boy, though. Let you do whatever you want.â
Bucky felt his pants get tighter. âCareful, Doll. Keep talking like that and we wonât make it out of the compound. But Iâm going to hold you to that later,â he said as he took the blindfold.
They settled on the motorcycle and Bucky put the blindfold on. âCan you see anything, Bucky?â
âNope.â
âOkay then. Hold on.â Y/n started the motorcycle and Bucky wrapped his arms around her waist.
They took off. It was a weird feeling for Bucky to not know where they were going, but he trusted Y/n. After a while, Bucky felt the bike slow down. He could hear crowds and screams of joy in the background. After the bike was stopped, Y/n looked over her shoulder.
âYou can take off the blindfold now.â
Bucky slipped of the blindfold and smiled when he saw they were at Coney Island.
âGood surprise?â Y/n asked and bit her lip.
âBest surprise.â Bucky hugged her close.
âGood. I wanted you to have fun and not worry about the world and this seemed to fit what I wanted.â
âItâs perfect.â Bucky got off the bike and helped Y/n off.
They spent their morning at Coney Island, riding everything they could and playing several games. Y/n made sure to win a stuffed bear for Bucky. Bucky really enjoyed the Cyclone and regaling Y/n with the story of how he made Steve ride it back in the day. They had lunch and then decided to finish their visit with the Wonder Wheel. At the top of the ride, they shared a kiss.
âGood birthday so far?â
âBest I think Iâve ever had.â Bucky looked at Y/n like she hung the moon.
âReady to head back to the compound? The team has a small party planned for you.â
Bucky had a hesitant look on his face.
Y/n rushed to assure him. âNothing like Tonyâs usual parties. Itâs just the team and significant others. We want to celebrate you turning 104.â
Bucky looked relieved. âThatâs fine. As long as you promise to not leave my side all night.â
âLike I would leave you anyways.â
Bucky and Y/n made their way back to the bike. Bucky immediately got on and looked at Y/n. âIâm driving back. You did a good job but I wanna drive.â
Y/n laughed and climbed behind Bucky, wrapping her arms around his waist. âI figured youâd want to drive back. I only cared about surprising you here. And maybe after the party.â
Bucky reached down and squeezed her hands. âI love you.â
âLove you too, Bucky.â
They made their way back to the compound and got ready for the party. Y/n put on a deep red knee-length dress that fit her body in a way that showcased all her favorite assets. She kept her hair and makeup simple, since the party wasnât going to be crazy. She made her way out of the bathroom and saw Bucky buttoning up his shirt. He looked up as she walked in to grab her shoes. As she passed him, he grabbed at her hand and pulled her close.
âYou look delectable,â Bucky murmured. He leaned down and brushed his lips against hers. His arms slid around her waist, his hands moving down until they cupped her ass. Y/n smiled at Bucky and put her arms around his neck.
âGlad you like. I bought the dress just for tonight.â
âSo, another present for me? I donât know how Iâm going to keep my hands off you.â
âWell, that is a perk of it being your party. We go for a while and then leave early and you can unwrap me and put that blindfold to use.â
Bucky groaned. âCanât we just skip the party?â
Y/n threw her head back and laughed. âNo. You know theyâll just barge in here. If we make an appearance, then we wonât be interrupted later.â
âFine.â Bucky grumbled. He pouted as they left their room and made their way to the common area where the party was set up. Bucky was hoping if he pouted enough, Y/n would let him leave extra early.
âYour pouting isnât going to work, Baby.â Y/n said over her shoulder, smiling.
Bucky gave up the pout and smiled back. âWorth a shot.â
When they entered the room, it was filled with the team and their partners. Steve had brought Sharon, who was happy to have made it in time, having been on a mission for the past few weeks. Clint and Natasha stood together, Clintâs arm around Natashaâs shoulder. Wanda and Vision were holding hands. Bruce had excitedly brought Betty Ross, who had recently come back into his life. Sam and Peter stood with their girlfriends and Tony and Pepper were happily hugging.
âHappy birthday, Bucky!â everyone yelled as Bucky and Y/n entered the room. Bucky felt so happy to be surround by his friends. Tony and Steve had hung up a banner that said âhappy 104th birthdayâ and there were streamers all around the room. On the coffee table was a cake with a pile of presents for Bucky. Tony had set up a bar to the side, fully stocked with a bartender there to make everyoneâs night easier. Though Thor couldnât stay, he had dropped off some Asgardian mead for the super soldiers earlier that week. There was also a buffet table with various foods that Bucky loved, both from back in the 40s and from now.
The party had been going for a few hours and everyone was having a good time. Bucky and Steve had gotten into the mead and were feeling its effects. Bucky had opened his presents, loving everything he got, especially his new knife from Y/n.
âDoll, you already did breakfast and Coney Island. This is too much,â Bucky said as he admired the tactical knife. It had a black and blue carved handle with a steel blade that had a blue sheen.
âI saw it and thought of you,â Y/n said with a shrug. âThe blade reminds me of your eye color.â
Bucky leaned over and gave her a kiss on the cheek. âI canât wait to use it on my next mission.â
âOnly you would be that excited for a knife,â Sam said with a laugh.
âShut it, Pigeon.â
Sam just rolled his eyes with a smile. After presents were done and the cake was eaten, Bucky decided he was ready to finish his night in the bedroom with Y/n, wanting to make use of the blindfold. He looked over at Y/n and caught her eye. Bucky gave her a smirk that signaled he was ready to go.
âWell, thank you everyone for a truly great birthday. I canât thank you enough for everything.â
âYou deserve it, Punk,â Steve said, Sharon cuddled into his side.
âDefinitely my best birthday yet.â Bucky pulled Y/n close and kissed her temple.
Y/n smiled, ready to start trouble. âI think thatâs my cue to get this old man to bed.â
Everyone laughed while Bucky looked down at her in faux shock. âOld man??â
Y/n laughed as she stood up. âI mean, you are 104. Iâm surprised you lasted this long.â She slowly made her way over towards the door. âDo we need to get you a cane or maybe a walker?â
Bucky jumped up and moved quickly towards Y/n. She let out a yell and ran towards their room. âIâll show you old man, Doll,â Bucky yelled out as he chased her.
Everyone heard Y/n yell, âbring it on, senior citizen!â
Sam looked at Tony. âThank you for soundproofing their room.â
âThat was a present for all of us.â

"LEONARDO, MICHELANGELO!" An eleven year old Y/N Robins called from her porch door, impatiently tapping a food bowl against the wooden frame she leant against. Behind her, the sun was setting and painted the sky a gorgeous array of pinks and oranges, sweeping together like watercolours. She looked out on the street impatiently, finding its sleeping state both calming and unnerving. Elm Street was never noisy, but after three years of living there, the girl had realised it wasn't a place of silence either.
And she was completely right. A distant, yet soft, meow grew ever closer, finally appearing around the side of a bush. Y/N grinned, affectionately calling out for the birman to go find his dinner, "C'mere Angelo, that's it boy!"
He trotted past her up into the house where his found his dinner waiting.
"Leo!" Her small voice called out as loud as it could into the cool evening air. He had wandered off earlier that same day to enjoy the Riverdale summer heat elsewhere, and the Robins family didn't think anything of it. Just as her mouth opened to call out the name again, Vegas came barrelling out from the door of the Andrews household, across the street to her side with Mary and Archie following.
The Andrews matriarch noticed the empty food bowl, "Is everything alright, Y/N/N?" She asked in her usual professional voice, but the girl knew from experience how much love and warmth it really held. Elodie told her about Leonardo's disappearance and how it wasn't uncommon in this kind of weather, but he could be getting a bit hungry.
Mary handed the dog leash to her son and sent him a secret wink, "Why don't you two walk Vegas together and see if you can find him?"
Excitement had been bubbling through the small town of Riverdale for weeks now anticipating the big Fourth of July celebrations ahead of them. Y/N Robins had planned on keeping up with her old tradition of sleeping in until late afternoon, then rolling out of bed in time to catch the fireworks with her friends. But with with the drunkenly asking Archie to be her boyfriend, which was not something she remembered a few hours later, her plans for this year were flipped on their head. So she found herself getting dressed to go talk things out with her supposedly best friend in a quiet spot next to sweet water river.
With her hair half tied up, and a black denim jacket over her shoulders, Y/N left through the door in her bedroom, and waited on the edge of the pavement until she heard a door across the street open and quietly shut. Any butterflies fluttering in her stomach all but disappeared as Archie turned around and smiled into the early morning sun towards her. It had been three days since they had last seen each other, since the girl confessed she didn't really know what she wanted in the space between them.
He jogged over road, asphalt kicking up under his new Nike trainers, and immediately engulfed Y/N's small frame into his own. The two teenagers walked all the way to the edge of Sweetwater River in the silvery silence of early birds and rustling leaves, their hands every now and again grazing each other and lacing together.
"So," The Andrews boy sighed as he lay against the warm grass, watching as she sat next to him and propped her head up on his chest, "what's going on in that head of yours?"
"Leo!" Y/N's melodic voice rang out across the long stretch of stream. Crystal clear water you could see the smoothness of the rocks which lay underneath if you peaked your head over the bank enough. For some unknown reason, the young cat would always find his way towards some kind of water, even back in Phoenix.
"Hello?" Archie bopped the girl on the tip of her nose as she returned back to reality, evidently not hearing what he'd just asked by the puzzled look her face adorned.
She hummed and gave him her full attention, allowing him to rephrase his previous words. In the back of her mind, Y/N knew exactly what she wanted- to leave high school and go on endless adventures with the boy her head lay upon. She wanted an easy life, away from the eerie little town she called home- to decorate her own house with pictures of smiles and candid memories. But most of all, in that perfect moment, she wanted herself to let go and fall in love with her childhood best friend.
After finding Prince Charming and finding out he was really the one from Shrek and not Cinderella, her faith in true love was shaken at the age of sixteen.
"I'm scared of you hurting me, or doing anything that could possibly hurt you, Arch." Y/N's voice faltered at her blunt honesty, "I meant everything I said, but I don't think I'm over what happened with Chuck last year."
"Tiger," Archie interrupted her thoughts, sitting up slightly leaning back on one hand and using the other to cup her face, "I can't promise we won't ever hurt each other even just a little bit, but whatever happens, we'll learn and grown from it together. I don't think I'll ever fully understand how much that bastard hurt you. But, nothing in this world that's worth having comes easy, life is scary and I'll go through all of the shitty parts twenty three hours a day, if it means I get just one with you smiling up at me."
Half an hour of roaming up and down the river bank had passed before a twisting, nauseous feeling took over the pit of Y/N's stomach. She and her family adored their two fluffy boys, her dad would never admit it but they all heard the little 'goodnights' he'd whisper as he made his way up to bed finally. Though with her parents still working, and Y/S/N desperately needing to finish an assignment due tomorrow, the youngest Robins was the only one able to attend this search and rescue mission.
"What if he's -"
Vegas rubbed his nose against her shin in comfort.
"Y/N/N," A twelve year old Archie cut her off in his usual caring voice, "don't even let your mind go there. He's a little ninja cat he's probably off catching frogs or something."
He grabbed her hand, squeezing it in comfort and heading towards an unexplored area of the forest line. Truth be told, he was meant to be doing English homework with Betty Cooper right about now, but that had slipped his mind as soon as Y/N Robins adorably wonky smile found him across the road.
"Leo!" Y/N's sweet voice called out.
"Leonardo?" Archie followed with Vegas by his side.
"That's the sweetest thing I think I've ever heard." The girl admitted shyly, hiding her rose dusted cheeks by bringing Archie into a tight hug, her head resting in the crook of his neck while her long y/h/c hair tickled his face. It smelt of strawberries and mint in the morning breeze.
"Y/N/N, can I ask you something?" His voice sounded nervous, but as she looked up and nodded, his face held a smirk, "Will you stay my girlfriend?"
She answered with a small kiss, staring into his eyes innocently as her fingers traced his back under his thin t-shirt, about to lift the material from his body. But life had a funny way of throwing challenges their way, making them run before they could walk.
"I think I see him!" Archie handed the leash to his best friend, seeing a patch of grey in between the auburn autumn leaves. Vegas barked and tried to follow after his human, but Y/N managed to stop the Labrador from bounding away by distracting him with ear rubs. Wild growls and hisses could be heard as Archie wrestled the feisty long haired cat into his hoodie clad arms. Then Leonardo hissed so madly, the young boy almost dropped him, "Yep, definitely Leo."
Y/N ran over as fast as she could, dropping the lead as soon as she saw his pumpkin eyes and bare teeth, clearly not a fan of Archie. She grinned widely with glee and got to her tippy toes to kiss Archie's cheek. "You're a life saver!"
As soon as the fluffy animal felt Y/N's little hands rubbing his chin as she took him from the boy's arms, he switched into a completely different cat and started purring.
A gunshot sounded through the open clearing, and before a high pitched scream could escape from Y/N's mouth, Archie saw the terror in her eyes and pulled the petite girl behind him. He scaled the area, unable to see anything but birds fleeing from the unusual noise.
"We need to get out of here." The boy's gravely voice whispered with urgency, picking her up without hesitation and running until his lungs burnt and his trainers once again hit the comfort of tarmac.
"What the fuck was that?" Y/N screeched, her inquisitiveness telling to turn back, but thankfully common sense won that battle. She and Archie found themselves back on the pavement of Elm Street before they knew it.
"Y/N, we didn't see anything, it could've been a car backfiring a street away for all we know." Archie tried to rationalise, but in all honesty he was stuck to his core with dread.
"Right, or someone was just murdered and we could've been next on some psychopaths hit list." Y/N's dark mind shone through as she blurted out her inner monologue. The boy didn't have any words of wisdom, instead he lead her to his front door and brought her into his body. They stayed in their own little world for what could have been hours, thankful they had each other and not allowing themselves to think about what secrets Riverdale was really hiding under it's pretty exterior.
Nothing ever happened in the town with 'pep'.
Betty Cooper awoke early that Saturday morning, ready to get any assignments out of the way to enjoy the weekend ahead. She opened her curtains and tied her hair up into a ponytail, but as she looked out of her window at the beautiful blue skies, she watched in shock at the surprising scene unfolding in front of her. Y/N Robins up on her tippy toes, with Archie Andrews' hands wrapped around her waist as they kissed intensely in what the two thought was privacy.

BĂžlger (2)
Merman!Kae x Reader.
Words: 3,183
bĂžlger means waves.
Chapter 1.
Merfolk were almost divine to your eyes, living near the coast gave you the blessing of discovering these amazing creatures, well, or the thought of actually seeing them.Â
You were 7 when your mother gave your guard to your aunt Betty, your mom grew sick and she wanted to be sure you would be cared for when she passed. But it took her cancer to reach stage 4 to allow you to live with Betty.Â
The thing was, your mother hated the coast, the town, and the ocean.
When Betty went to visit you, she would take small cards with fairies, merfolk, werewolves painted on it. She would tell you to believe in magic and accept that we aren't alone on the big blue planet.
Which made your mother mad because she hated the mere idea of mermaids, so much that the little mermaid movie was never allowed. But she had to swallow her revulsion to be sure you would be cared for and not thrown on the orphanage in the end.
So you went to live on Walrey Coast with your aunt. She was a good woman, a bit light-headed but good nonetheless. She taught you how to cook, even though you hated it, taught you how to work in her small restaurant and how to read and love Julio Verne's work.Â
The house was small but notably comfy and colorful, each room had a color and somehow it didn't get overwhelming. Your bedroom had fairies painted on the walls, and a lamp with a mermaid painted in gold.
But you never saw a mermaid or a merman in your life.
And since your city was a small place each person ended up knowing another. Â You were homeschooled till your 11, but Antony -your aunt friend- told that his nephews were your age and that his sister could teach you too.
Antony's nephews were three, a girl called Hope, and two boys, Archie and Hunter. Hope and Archie were twins, and Hunter was a year younger but their mom taught them the things at the same time so they could always be together if they ever went to a "normal" school.
So, with your 20's and seeing Archie leaving the town to persuade his dream university made you happy, but sad in seeing Carla's tears, after all, she always wanted her kids together.
"C'mon, Y/N, I consider you like a daughter so let us re-form your brother's bedroom..." Carla tried to smile through her tears, Hunter hugged you and Hope rolled her eyes at her brother's trial of reaching your interest, the poor boy has been crushing over you for 6 years already.
You kept your routine of woking at your aunty Betty restaurant, Antony tried to coax you to leave town and go to uni -as every elderly person tries to tell us to-; But something held you in Walrey Coast, maybe it was the trauma of the last time that you left your home was due to a loved one passing, or maybe Betty being abandoned in her big picturesque house... or who knows, perhaps something else, something unseen, or forgotten.
Hope didn't want to go to university, she craved to open an auto-shop, Carla said she didn't mind, but everyone knew deep down she wanted her small girl to be the perfect wife-to-be. And Hunter wanted to become a biologist, the boy adored the sea more than the air he inhaled and after years and years of Antony pulling his ear telling him that the idea of being a professional surfer was as idiotic as his hair, he swallowed down and picked another profession that connected the sea, too.
You loved them, and the town, but you were lonely. You had your first kiss, and even that you studied in "not a homeschool but it was basically one" you knew the other people in town, the men in their 20's that lived near and also the visitors that came and go. And working in the restaurant you saw lots of people, soldiers, biologists, families, even sailors, travelers, wanderers, et cetera.Â
So you had your 'first times' but nothing serious, and even that Hunter tried several times to date you, you couldn't see him farther than a brother. He was attractive, smart, polite, liked animals as you do but he was... a brother. Through and through.
So your life was based around this minimalist and simple presence. Waking up, helping Betty at home, go to the restaurant, visit Carla and your dear friends, go back to the restaurant, sit in the pier where Antony lived while you ate your dinner looking at the sea, go home, shower and sleep.
Antony tried to make you go swimming or try to surf with Hunter, but you were terrified of the ocean, you loved it, it was fascinating and very very beautiful, but scary.
Dangerous.
Yet, gazing at it brought you a level of peace that couldn't be accomplished in any other form.
So finishing your meal and making sure to set any trash inside a bag so you could throw in the trashcan later, you stood up and gave one last look at the dark waters and went home.
Deep in the waves, stood Kae, gazing at you leaving your favorite spot in the docks, each day you went there and in each one he approached the surface to make you company, a silent one.
Sometimes you hummed a song, one that of course he had not heard before. And sometimes you would put music to play in a small black device he saw humans carrying around all the time, the music was a mixture, but he enjoyed them, and loved when you sang along.
Merfolk took singing into high consideration, it was important to lull food, to find a good partner, to... well, everything!
And he hummed back with you, but he knew you didn't hear him. You didn't remember him.
It was funny how different worlds that co-existed, should know about another, should collide.
Humans are evil, everyone says. But what Eros did with you wasn't it? Hurting an innocent cub, or better saying: a child, and bringing your unconscious body as a trophy was the most repugnant thing he ever witnessed. After that episode years prior, Kae never glanced at his cousin in the same way, Eros was still family, but he wasn't the good merman Kae thought he was.
And with their adult forms and getting the spot of protectors of the ocean society, the mating season was approaching.Â
Jaxi was in love with a mermaid that was from oceans away, they found each other in a hunt for food and after that, they've been planning their wedding ever since. Melin grew to be an insatiable lover, the mating season was an open feast to him, especially since it didn't involve a mandatory loyalty. Eros had the most beautiful sea creatures he could find, he was handsome and strong, but he was a player, which wasn't so shocking.
And Kae had some encounters, had his first sex in his 16's but he didn't like the notion of marrying and being away from the bare soil, away from his little friend that didn't even remember his existence.
He wonders if you still have Eros's nails wounds scarred in your skin, or maybe you healed after he rolled the algae around it? The alkaline water helped sea beings to heal and regenerate their skin, maybe oxygen did it too to humans? And if it hasn't healed, have you ever questioned the origin of it?
Kae didn't see himself as a stalker, he was more of a curious merman. And after leaving you in the waves near the sand, he has been reaching the surface searching for you. Ecthelion realized his peculiar interest in you, so he at least told Kae that his human friend, Antony, has told him that you were alive and well. And that the human's healers said you declared that you floated too deep in the ocean and the waves took you away.
Only that.
And as much that was a relief to hear you didn't remember the evilness Eros committed, Kae was still disappointed that you wouldn't remember him, or Jaxi and Melin that were also very much curious about human's anatomy and helped to save your life.
He wanted to talk to you, to see how different you are, would it be shocking for you to see him? Would you run away seeing his different form? He was very pretty, and one of the most desired young merman between the merfolk, but their physiology are different for various reasons. Maybe you wouldn't think he is pretty, his monster form would push you away. Scare you.
        ...
Hunter lost his mind, inviting you to go surfing? Insane.
"You know I'm afraid of the sea, Hunter!" You told him and your friend only shrugged.
"Y/N, i know but we can try. There won't be big tides today, and I'm an expert at it."
His sad voice made you feel bad, you loved him dearly but couldn't answer his romantic feelings. "Is just... we are not kids anymore and with our brother away and Hope getting you away for 'girls night i barely have time with you. And i don't want to be an asshole, i swear, but that accident that happened years ago was an accident. You were a kid and now you're all grown."
Yu chuckled and hit his shoulder slightly. "All of this only to convince me to go with you?"
He narrowed his eyes and gave you a shy smile. '"Only if you say it worked."
"It did. But! If the waves get too big or anything we will come back, alright? Don't try to prove a point."
"And which point would that be?" He seemed offended.
"That you know how to suffer."
"Right, I won't do anything stupid."
            ...
Carrying Hope's board firmly you questioned if the straight material could hurt your palms. "Come on." Hope yelled cheering you up, she agreed with Hunter that it would be good for you to test the waters. Being afraid of it was a dangerous thing.
Hunter extended his hand while his other one was carrying the board under his arm. "Trust me?"
"Yeah, but please if I want to come back help me."
"Don't worry."
You held his hand and walked to the waters, Hope clapped her hands a couple of times yelling "you got it" to give you motivation.
It was a pretty day, the sun was out but it wasn't awfully warm Some seagulls flew through the skies and you admired the blue water touching your skin.
The water wasn't cold, and so far no big waves came and snatched your nor Hunter's life.
"Now in the way we tried back there." Hunter held the surfboard you were firmly grasping and helped you to jump on it. He did the same on his and held your hand looking at you with nothing but honesty.
You laid your chest on the board and moved your arms in the water to push you a bit far from the sand. Hunter was smiling, he adored the ocean and adored you so he was very happy.
A small wave came and you looked at him. "Hunt!"
He didn't tell you to go, he gave you a tiny nod and told you the two of you could swim around until you felt more relaxed.
After some minutes you tried to surf in a tide, it was small, amen for that, and Hunter seemed proud. He went to the bigger ones and even when he fell in the salty water he would emerge smiling and laughing.
Hope entered the water too and swam around, you never swam with your friends before.
Some minutes passed and you lost your fear from the ocean, the salty water, the rays of sun, Hunter's smile and Hope's laugh was a blessing and you wondered why you never gave Hunter a chance when he asked you to surf with him since you two were 12.
A medium-wave came in, and you told them you would try. Hunter has surfed and tides four times bigger so he was secure you wouldn't get hurt.
You moved your arms in the water to push you near the growing wave, you managed to feel it moving the surfboard, and you got on your feet and yelled in euphoria when your body kept firm above it. It was amazing, a sensation of pure joy.
The adrenaline, the beauty on it.
Hope and Hunter were cheering you up, and you smiled at then before noting a big movement near the tide, head got out of the ocean and the creature knocked your breath out of your lungs.
Was it... a mermaid? Well, better saying a merman?
"What?" You lost balance and fell into the water, the string holding the surfboard to your ankle made a pressuring pull and you whimpered at the pressure. You shut your eyes as the salty water burned your eyes but soon your foot was realized from the surfboard-pull.
You opened your eyes terrified that you lost the board because you were being dragged further in, but you saw something, someone.Â
The strong features, the gills on his neck, the floating long hair... the tail.Â
"Y/N!" Hope yelled. "Where are-", "Y/N!" Hunter yelled too.
He swam to you and leaned in, you got terrified, the water was burning your eyes, the lack of oxygen making you anxious and this creature was placing his hands on your cheeks. The cold hands made you stare at him but he only leaned in to kiss your forehead and then your nose.Â
Hope's and Hunter's yells going deaf to your ears. You could only stare at the merman.
Before you could do anything else he smiled and touched your feet pushing you up to find oxygen.
You broke out of the surface and coughed as Hunter pulled your body to his chest. "Jesus Christ! You scared me." He said and kissed your forehead over and over making sure you were alive under his touch.
Hunter's kisses were gentle, urgent, and you enjoyed them, but it wasnt like the creature's touch.Â
The monster's touch that could certainly snap your neck in a fraction of seconds, but the same touch that made your heart beat faster a moment prior.
And when he held your feet... you thought he would pull you in, to kill and eat you.
No.
He launched you up, assisting you, freeing you!
"I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have brought you." Hunter cried and you leaned in his touch, holding his neck and looking over his shoulder seeing familiar eyes gazing at you miles away in the water.
            ...
Sitting in Hope's bed and having her blow-drying your hair, you told Hunter for the 45° time that you were okay and wasn't his fault. He gave you a cup of hot chocolate and checked your fingertips again searching for any hint of extremity cyanosis. He was terrified of losing you, shit, he even argued with Hope when he told her he wanted to help you to take a shower. And even if crushing on you, his intentions weren't sexual, he only wanted to be sure you were warmed up.
"It's okay, it was my fault. I thought I saw something. I got distracted."
Hope brushed your dry hair and you held Hunter's big sweater closer to your chest, he was taller than you so his clothes were the most comfortable. "Hope, i'm sorry for-"
"No no, it's okay. The thing was old anyway." She hugged you from behind and assured you it was okay the loss of her surfboard. "But i wonder how the safe-string got out of your ankle."
You remembered the pressure the string was making, remember the relief it was when it was snapped away from you... the merman did it.
"I don't know either." You lied and tried to get up, only to have them push you back in Hope's bed and ordering you to rest.
Hunter called your aunt to tell her it was all okay and that you would have a sleepover.
You fell asleep, dreaming of waves and gentle touches.
             ...
Waking up you looked at the covers and searched for a clock to see how long you've slept. It was 2 AM and Hope was passed out, you gently got up from the bed and grasped a pair of Hope's boots.
You got off the stairs and unlocked the door discreetly before closing it behind you.
You walked to the docks and sat in your dining-spot. The vision of the water moving slowly under the stars always eased your thoughts.Â
Yes, you consumed a bit of seawater but you didn't imagine what you saw. "Hey, uh, thank you for saving me." You spoke, feeling stupid and looking over your shoulders to be sure no one was near to listen to your nonsense.
"I... nearly drowned and if it wasn't you... I... Fuck!" You swore under your breath. The quietness of Walrey Coast at the dark night was comforting, silence was everything, it meant peace.
Holding your legs together and leaning your head on your knee, tears formed in your eyes. You missed Archie, you felt bad for making Hunter so worried, for destroying Hope's surfboard, the silence that engulfed you, and the thought of going crazy.
As tears drop reached the water, Kae got the courage to break out of the surface. He cursed himself so much earlier on, he should have reached you, if you haven't seen him you wouldnât fall. So saving you was nothing less than his obligation.Â
And touching you... well, that's another story. He couldn't help himself, you were so soft, so grown and stunning. Watching you from afar was something, but perceiving you centimeters away was enchanting.
With your eyes closed, you moaned a song that you loved, and even that the music spoke about heartbreak and a lost lover... it was beautiful.
Stopping to hum while you cleaned your nose, you opened your eyes startled when the song kept resounding,
Widening your eyes you looked at the water and placed your hands on your mouth to avoid a scream to leave your mouth.
There he was, the same thing that saved you.
"Hm, hi-hi!" You gagged.
Kae looked down at his torso, he hated how the human guy held you in his arms early on. His chest was free of hard skin, freed of scales, his skin color was near yours... it wasn't pale as his.
"Maybe you don't speak my language, I, uh actually I'm sort of believing i'm dreaming. My name is Y/N."
The smile on your features was all he could see, the previous shriek apparently wasn't from his ugly self. But surprise, or so he hoped.
"I know," His stark tone of voice made you gasp, he spoke! He could speak, and your language! "Hi, little human."

CHAPTER II.
a witcher!kylo x reader fic. dark themes, smut ahead. 18+.
summary: you are a barmaid / stablewoman at an inn in toussaint, kylo ren, one of the last of the witchers from the school of the viper regularly stays at the establishment. you wonder what keeps him coming back.
read on ao3.
Nothing could make up for Kylo, the Viper â whoever he was -- making you cum then leaving you stranded once again. At least, that was what you told yourself when youâd collected the coin from the bed, the pile heâd always left, the pay and extra that could afford him another three weeks there.Â
You swore under your breath, cursed the Viper who left your thighs warm with need, unable to tie your bodice without the memory of his assertive hands, demanding to see every part of you.
But those words caught in your mouth the moment you turned, running directly into his chest.
   âWhat are you doing here?â
âUh â what? I mean, no â Iâm... was closing up your room,â you explained quickly. You could feel his gaze burning through you. âThought you had um â checked out for the night.âÂ
  âThat isnât your job.âÂ
It was the truth. Your duties werenât supposed to go past the care of the horses (which you refused to give up), and the front for customer service. The tidying of the inn was left to Myra, the innkeep had hired her the moment she gained the budget for her. Not that they wouldnât mind making you pick up an extra task. But this task-- the motivation was all your own.Â
âSo why are you in here?âÂ
You finally met his gaze, the connection wrapping you in a warmth so deep it burned fear into your consciousness. He heard you, he was trying to pull it out of you. You could have swore he didnât blink the entire time he was staring at you.
The black surrounding his face brought out his eyes in a way that was deadly, framing them, charming you until there was nothing left in your brain but the galactic orgasm youâd experienced weeks (what felt like years with him in your presence) prior. He wanted you to forget. That gaze dropped to your neck, where your pulse would be, before he reached up and wrapped his hand around the entirety of your throat.Â
Then the innkeep was making her way in the door, and Kylo was hesitantly dropping his hold. But he never took his eyes from you. It made you feel so supernaturally bare.Â
âOh. Sorry, sir â Iâd thought youâd gone by now,â the woman said, though she was shooting daggers at you. Like it was your fault heâd stayed.
Was it?Â
  âHm.â
âDid she say something? I can have Myra take care of you, if you neââÂ
  âI donât.âÂ
And with that, he turned, and your breath was released from your chest. He ducked under the door, and Miss Betty lurched forward to snatch your arm. âHave you any idea who that is, what he is, you daft thing?â
Squinting your eyes, you leered at her, âWhat does it matter?â The room was fuzzy from yet another adrenaline-spiking meeting with the Viper. You looked after the doorway, then back to the woman, tearing your arm away from her, âHe pays enough coin to keep us afloat. You should be thanking me.â
âHeâs a Witcher. A mutant. A monster who slays monsters. Stay away from him. I canât afford for you to lose your innards.âÂ
If only she knew.Â
But you only stared, her words licking a cold up your body. And you believed her, like she had just given you a piece of the puzzle that was the Viper. Taking your hand, she picked every piece of gold from your grip, holding it for a moment too long, âYou stay away from him. You hear me?â You just nodded, allowing her to collect what belonged to her before you went back to the bar. Where you belonged.
You took in the entirety of the inn, hoping youâd see him on your way downstairs, the only customer being the cook, Ruek, leaning over your spot yielding a mug heavy with ale.Â
Going behind the counter, you found a rag and made yourself busy, wiping glasses that didnât need to be cleaned. You felt his eyes on you.
  âWhat?â
âNothinâ, just⊠the Witcher came out, then my mother came after you⊠then you after her, now your cheeks are all flush and Iâm just curious is all.â
âThere you all go with that word again. What is that? I just thought they were sorcerers like any other. Bounty hunters. Inspiration for bards.â Your eyes rolled, rag squeezing in your hand the same way it did the night heâd made home in your subconscious.Â
Ruek clicked his tongue, âMight as well break your ignorance if youâre going to be changing his sheets. That man⊠if you even want to call him that, is Toussaintâs greatest curse..âÂ
What you knew about the cook in the Pheasantry wasnât much, but you did know that he had traveled inns upon inns just to cook for different breeds of people. His eyes were wise with stories, knowledged wrinkles framing his kind smile, you trusted him more than most of the folks that you worked with. Not that Beauclair was a bad city..Â
âCurse? Youâre starting to sound like your mother.âÂ
âIâm sorry. Iâm just surprised you donât know any of this. You look âŠâ He searched your eyes, before sighing, âam I just scaring you?â
âNo, I want to know. Your mom was trying to do that, for my own good probably,â you scrunched your nose, knowing she'd never try to purposely scare you. She looked out for you to the best of her capability, a mother to most who ended up employed here, âI mean, you said I should know. So just tell me.âÂ
âOkay. You know about the monsters in the waters, right? The sailor specialâ drowners.â Ruek laughed at his own joke.
âIâm pretty sure Iâve heard about those, yeah. Thatâs why you donât go into them alone, especially at night. But theyâre no real threat.â Ugly blue humanoids that looked like overgrown fish, their teeth sharp enough to shred skin..
âYouâre not wrong, but Iâm not talking about those kind of monsters. Thatâs my point. Normal Witchers were made to save us from those creatures, protect our villages, keep us safe from impending doom. The only reason those monsters arenât a threat is because of them.â
âSo theyâre .. guards against the supernatural?â You asked, trying to understand why you should be afraid of a man whose targets werenât human.
âTo put it lightly. Those are the stories you hear. They do it for coin, usually, contracts are pinned calling to them for help to save a child or survey a forest⊠all of them come from different schools, not sure why, but as boys they were all either sold off, given as rewards or to put it bluntly: taken. Iâve heard some of them donât even know their real name, had to name themselves because Witchers arenât exactly⊠you know, warm. You following along?âÂ
You nodded, his eyes an image in your head, luring you just as they did every time you were in front of him. Ridding you of any other focus. âDifferent schools? Like thereâs more than one kind of Witcher?âÂ
âSure, Iâm not⊠really sure how many, or even if any stand. After they get initiated, if thatâs what you want to call it. They go through erm.. Trials? Mutations of the bodies, to make them more apt for being able to go against these beasts. Some of them donât make it, most of them didnât. In fact, that Viper is probably twice â fuck, maybe even three times my age.âÂ
  âWait, what?âÂ
âYeah. Mutations do a helluva lot of things to their genetics, including life span. Their senses are heightened to a way we as humans wouldnât even be able to describe. Wouldnât call them mages, but they can wield magic with their hands. Theyâre called somethingâŠâÂ
âSigns.â Miss Betty answered as she trailed down the stairs, making you jerk from Ruekâs gaze. But she just continued on, as if she hadnât added to your conversation.Â
He nodded, âYeah. Specific magics for their fighting needs. Anyway. The necklace they have, the medallion â all of them wear it, represents the school theyâre from. Pretty sure it has to do with their freaky senses too. But that one, heâs called the Viper because that is the school that taught him. And⊠well, they were destroyed years ago. For not submitting to the new government. Even others Witchers say to this day, they donât even know where it was located. Many think of him as an assassin because it isnât part of the Witcher morale to take contracts on humans, even lesser threats of beasts⊠but a Viper takes the deal no matter whose head it is.â
âNo more.â Betty interrupted, taking the glass from in front of you to break what felt like a trance, âshe can listen to the drunkards and bards to hear the rest of it. Youâre off for the day, consider it a mental break.âÂ
The inkeep grinned, almost as a farewell, leaving you to give Ruek an apologetic shrug. Not that you didnât want to listen, but it almost seemed like he was trying to scare you.
Nonetheless, you were off, your mind running through what youâd just been told. Taking the bag that hung over your shoulder, you decided to go back to your house first to change. Youâd already taken a bath last night, after youâd touched yourself enough to make your wrist numb. You whimpered his name in the confines of your washroom, tested it on your tongue, hoped that you would get a glimpse of him the next day.Â
But all you had gotten was the interaction this morning and your rushing thoughts. Honestly, you didnât even know that he had come back. It had been another three weeks since heâd touched you in the stables, maybe a few days more⊠not that you were counting.Â
Have you been fantasizing about some otherworldly being? Was he even human? You couldnât verify that yourself, and his fingers had been inside of you. The only thing youâd seen of his face wasnât exactly humane. Yet, the Viper didnât scare you. You were curious, ready to set gasoline to the flame licking inside of you.Â
Another bath. That was what you needed.Youâd change from your bright work gown, put on some trousers. You wished Ruekâs story had scared you, prepared you for another three weeks without seeing Kylo, another three weeks imagining your fingers were his own.Â
But it didnât.Â
Your hand wrapped around your own throat, sighing gently before it began to trail into the water.
âââ
A basket was tucked low in your elbow as you made your way through the market, deciding against curling up in your bed for the rest of the evening. You knew exactly what would come of that.Â
The best of goods were being offered by merchants that beckoned you over, colors decorating their tents, the scent of fresh bread in the air. Children ran past you to chase one another in a game you were sure you played when you were younger.Â
Your hair dried at your shoulders, cheeks still flush from the scorching water youâd made in a futile attempt to shed the innâs recent events.Â
âMaâam! Fresh fish, finest in all of Toussaint!âÂ
You turned, looking to the merchandise, scales reflecting off of the coral buildings.Â
âA pound for half the price!âÂ
You gave a tight smile, but continued on â until you ran so hard into someone that your feet lost all memory of balance. They caught you at your arms, stabilizing you as if you weighed close to nothing.Â
âThe idea of following someone is to not let them notice you.â The voice caught in your ears like a starving venus plant, unknowingly holding onto his forearms.Â
âIâm sorry, I didnât see you.â You took a step back, dropping your hands, the Viper still wide in your gaze.Â
He had been tucking something into his bag, quick to have it blend back into the mass of black. The sun still kissed the sky, enough to see him in a different light â one that could be argued for a better view than the horizon. His armor consumed the rays, shining an iridescence off of it that you didnât even know black could make. By the time you made it back to his gaze, you noticed him taking your body in as if it were one of the things being offered at the market. The mask carved barely above his nose, you identified a scar just over his left eye. Â
He seemed to suck in a long breath, and you wouldnât have noticed if it didnât somehow make him larger.Â
You wanted to make conversation, but his gaze was already bored, and you were desperately scrambling to gain his attention, âIf I were to follow you, it wouldnât be in a market.â
He quirked an eyebrow, as if to give you permission to go on. You plucked a green apple from your basket, rolling it between your fingers, âI would do it somewhere where Iâd find you alone, maybe even follow you to your camp and wait there until you found me.â Teeth broke into the fruit, and you spread your lips on it, suckling the juices as they dripped down your chin. You brought your hand up to scoop it back into your mouth, keeping eye contact as if you were on trial.
  âCome.âÂ
  âWhat?â
Again, he didnât answer. It was growing to be a pattern between you. He simply mirrored your stare for a pinch of a moment before he turned on his heel. You scurried behind him like a starved pup.Â
As Kylo passed through the crowd, he didnât bother to shift out of anyoneâs way â they did it for him. He glided between bodies, never letting anyone dare to brush against him while he stomped with determined direction.Â
You followed him until you were tucked in an alley, but he didnât give you a moment to question him before your front was pressed against warm brick, hips secured to the wall by his own. You gasped at the hard outline through his leather pants, nails digging into the grates in the wall. The back of your mind begged you to remember the things you were just told, but the fingers that snaked over the nape of your neck and into your hair coaxed those thoughts away.Â
He yanked it back, forcing you to lean against his chest as he pushed himself into your behind. Your body immediately responded to him, heart thumping in your ears like a war drum with the anticipation of feeling him again. In any way he would give you.Â
A dam broke, your blood was replaced with molten lava, the only thing to keep you from focusing too much on your already shuddering breath was the hand that came down on your ass. Hard.Â
You yelped, hips edging into the alley, but there was no escape. This only drove the Witcher on, palm, punishing the same tender spot he had just gifted you.Â
  âShit!âÂ
You gasped, the warmth becoming more noticeable in the root of your most sensitive bits.Â
âYou walk around like this and expect me not to take you?âÂ
A frustrated huff met your confusion, his palm flat against your belly, arm wrapped over your front to grab the inside of your thighs, kneading them in appreciation. His target wasnât particular, enjoying the way you felt.Â
His fingers hooked into your waistband, catching your panties in the process as he tugged them down your legs. A growl followed, one that ricocheted through the narrow space he had commandeered. You whimpered in response, blood rushing to the tips of your ears when you felt him crouch behind you. Â
Leaning your chest into the rock, you spread your legs as much as your trousers at your ankles would allow, and then you felt teeth sink into your cheek, free hand collecting the pillowy curves of your behind. Your eyes rolled, his leathered digits squeezing marks into your waist as he pulled you into his mouth.
And that was when it hit you.
His mask was off. Kyloâs mouth was on you.Â
Another moan. At first you thought it was him â you didnât recognize it, but your mouth was gaping with proof that the foreign noise had just fled your chest. And this only enabled him.Â
First, it was his nose. Spreading your folds open and using it as a doorway for his tongue to explore, angling through them until he found the nub, swirling the agile muscle against it.Â
You so badly wanted to tug his hood down, wrap your fingers in the raven locks that that youâd glimpsed, but you had nothing but the wall for security, the roughness of the stone. And the Viperâs godly mouth luring you further into his will.Â
One hand stayed on your cheek, massaging and spreading it while his head ducked between your legs to send you into a pleasure frenzy.Â
  âYesyesyes, fuck â right there.âÂ
He opened his jaw further to suck your swollen pussy into his mouth, your juices saturating his chin while he tamed you.Â
An impatient nip scathed your skin, only for him to begin to move his head in a way that you knew no other ordinary man could replicate.Â
Ghosting a hand up your spine, the Viper took a heavy grasp of the back of your neck, forcing you forward. Your forehead met the grainy siding, you twisted in an attempt to move your face away from it. In such quick movement the harsh stone dragged along your temple, scraping your skin, the hiss of pain melting into a cocktail of affirmations.Â
For the second time, something clicked.
I want to hear it the next time I make you cum.Â
The memory alone had you jerking down into his merciless mouth, the Viper growling in return, sending vibrations against your sensitive cunt. He stretched you open, your jaw clenching while two unforgiving fingers entered you.
Your feet were nearly lifting off of the ground from the force of his devoir.Â
The savory noises coming from you were just as easy as your breath, you couldnât open your eyes at that point, your lids too heavy with carnal gratification.Â
No longer did you care who the Viper was, but what his name was when it would pass your lips.Â
Curving to the part that would absolutely demolish you, the Witcher took care in carving you out to remind you of his demand, with the same fingers he had made promises of death with. You gave it to him, your jaw slacking as incoherent encouragement for him to continue while he sucked your pulsing clit into his mouth, plunging into you so hard your body jiggled with his movements.Â
  âKylo!âÂ
The shriek vibrated your skull, body jerking with the restraints of his large grip while you melted in his mouth. He took a few more lazy slurps, finishing you off before he left you to pull up your pants, and for a fleeting moment you wondered if you could overpower a mutant that everyone spun tales about.
By the time you caught another glimpse of him, his muzzle was secured back. He looked at you from under half-lidded eyes, as if he hadnât just planted another seed for your damnation.Â
âI thought you were leaving,â you blurted as he exited the temporary hideaway.
He quirked his head slightly, still statequsue as he considered you. âI am.âÂ

In the garden would you trust me?
Summary: So, it's been a while since I've posted any writing, but the other day inspiration finally struck. I've always thought about how it would be fun to write a story inspired by the folklore love triangle and I finally came up with (hopefully) a good way to do it!
This story will be 3 parts - one part from Betty's perspective, one from August's, and one from James'.
But here's the twist - I am writing James as a girl. I know that Taylor has said that James is a teenage boy, but I'm taking a little creative liberty here. Hopefully it's well received!
So here goes nothing - part one is below!
*********
(Betty's POV)
The sound of metal clinking rings through the soft, late summer breeze. Betty squints, trying to determine what sheâs actually looking at in her biology book. The bright sunlight against the glossy finish of the paper makes it nearly impossible to make out much of anything. As she strains to see the blurry image of cell, a swift wind sweeps through, whipping Bettyâs papers into the air. She audibly grunts, studying outside seemed like a good idea at the time, but now sheâs not sure.
Before she can think of standing up from the picnic table, a slender hand slides her papers back onto her book. Betty glances up, meeting the bluest pair of eyes sheâs ever seen. The taller girl sits down opposite her, and Betty takes a moment to study her. Her wind-swept blonde hair is pulled into a loose ponytail, and her eyes glimmer almost magically back at Betty. Sheâs wearing an orange t-shirt with the number 8 printed in the upper right corner, the words Tigersprinted across her chest. Sheâs definitely a soft ball player, but shouldnât she be over on the field across the way, with all her teammates?
âYouâve got to watch the wind when you study outside,â the girl finally speaks, a small smirk on her face, âIâm James by the way.â
âJames? Isnât that a boyâs name?â Betty replies before she can stop herself, but she quickly realizes it was a little rude, and she blushes shyly, âAlso, why arenât you on the field?â
âWell, youâre full of questions,â James chuckles, and her laugh may be the sweetest sound Betty has ever heard, âMy parents wanted a boy, but they got me. So, my name is James. As far as your second question, weâre taking a break. I was walking over to the bathroom when I saw your papers take flight.â
âSorry,â Betty says, still blushing, she canât believe she let herself say that to a complete stranger.
âDonât be sorry,â James replies sweetly, a hand still lying on top of her biology worksheets.
âThank you for saving my homework,â the blondeâs hand on her work reminds her to thank the other girl.
âNo problemâŠâ James falters for a moment and lightly laughs once again, âI donât think I got your name?â
âBetty.â
James gives her a toothy grin in return, âBetty. I like that. I donât think Iâve seen you around before.â
âMy family just moved here, Iâm new to the school,â Betty explains, glad they are finally on to a new topic and her rude remarks seem to be forgotten.
âAh gotcha,â James nods knowingly, âhow do you like it so far?â
âItâs alright, everyone seems pretty friendly,â Betty looks down at her book, fidgeting with the dog-eared corners, âmy classes seem ok, itâs just hard to transfer schools your junior year, you know?â
âI totally get it,â James replies, after intently listening to every word Betty spoke, âwell, I know itâs hard to make friends at this stage in the game, so consider me one,â the other girlâs hand lifts off the stack of worksheets and across the table into Bettyâs space.
Betty canât help the broad smile that spreads across her face as she grasps onto Jamesâs hand, âThanks.â
âJames!â a deep male voice strikes the calm afternoon air.
âOh, thatâs me,â James stands up and Betty quickly realizes how tall the girl is, âIâve got to get back over there, but Iâll see you around?â
Betty nods, âDefinitely!â
âOh wait! Once more thing,â James blindly reaches for a pen off the table and grabs Bettyâs hand back into hers.
Betty canât stop her cheeks from turning a rosy pink at the feeling of ten numbers being etched onto her skin.
âThatâs my phone number,â James drops her hand and the pen, before turning around to head back to the softball diamond, âyou better text or call!â
âI will,â Betty replies shyly as James sprints back over to her team.
******
âBetty, Betty, BETTY!â
Betty is finally jolted back to reality. She quickly glances up from her desk, her math teacher standing over her with a worried look on her face. Betty quickly takes stock of what has just happened. The classroom is empty, there are tears staining her cheeks and the desk below her and not a single answer is written out on the test paper in front of her. This day just keeps getting better.
âIâm sorry,â she quietly mutters, grabbing the blank sheet to place it in her teacherâs hand, accepting her failure this time.
âBetty,â Ms. Davidsonâs voice sounds soft and concerned, and she places the blank sheet back in front of Betty, âwhatâs wrong?â
The brunette shakes her head, not willing to commiserate with anyone, especially not a teacher, âNothing.â
âItâs clearly not nothing, considering you just cried your way through the first test of the year and didnât fill out a single answer,â she still looks overly concerned.
Betty sighs, âI just got some bad news this morning and it kind of threw me a little. Iâm sorry.â
âDonât be sorry, I know youâre a smart girl,â Ms. Davidson replies kindly, kneeling down in front of Bettyâs desk, meeting her still teary eyes, âand I donât want you to start off the year with a 0 in my class. How about you come back during your study hall and try taking this test again?â
Betty nods enthusiastically, âThank you Ms. Davidson. That would be great.â
Ms. Davidson stands back up and gives her a small pat on the shoulder, âWhatever that boy did, isnât worth all these tears.â
Betty nods with a small frownâŠmore like whatever she did, âI know.â
âIâll see you during study hall,â she says before Betty grabs her books and heads out the door.
Betty walks briskly down the hall towards her locker, weaving in and out, around the other students. She doesnât want to risk running into James right now, itâs not something she can handle. Not after what Inez told her this morning.
A fresh wave of tears form behind her eyes, just thinking of the terrible encounter. The bubbly, blonde gossip had been standing by her locker before she even got there. Before Betty could even put in her combination, Inez was talking a mile a minute. She didnât gather the whole situation with how quickly the other girl was talking. She did pick up the most important part though. Apparently, James was seen out with some other girl, from a neighboring schoolâs softball team. They were at the local diner, sharing a sundae and according to Inez, they looked âpretty cozyâ.
Betty wants so badly to not believe it, but it adds up. James has been so distant for most of the summer. Theyâve only been in school for a month and Betty just chalked it up to senior year stress. Itâs Jamesâs last softball season and she knows how badly she wants to do good. Very quickly though, texts became less frequent, excuses were made when Betty asked to hang out. Thatâs why sheâs sure it has to be true, even though Inezâs sources arenât always that reliable.
âBetty!â the last person she wants to hear calling her name pulls her out of her thoughts.
Before James has a chance to reach her, sheâs on the move, heading towards the bathroom nearest to her locker. She can sense the tall blonde behind her, but pushes past the door of the bathroom before James can catch up. Betty flies into the stall at the far end of the room, putting the toilet seat lid down and sitting. Sheâs tries her best to keep her tears at bay, but soon enough she sees a worn pair of converse on the floor in front of her stall.
âGo away James,â Betty says curtly, clutching her books tightly to her chest, putting all her focus on making her voice sound steady.
âBettyâŠplease,â Jamesâs voice sounds desperate â almost sad, a tone sheâs not used to hearing from the blonde, âlet me explain.â
âI think Inez did enough explaining already,â Betty canât stop her voice from shaking this time and she knows James heard.
She hears James sigh, and her head thud lightly against the door of the stall, âPleaseâŠBetty, babyâŠâ
âDONâT call me that,â sheâs surprised by how firm her voice was that time, but something about the pet name sets her insides aflame.
A loud clatter rings through the small space and Betty sees Jamesâs skateboard hit the floor, followed by James herself. She sits cross legged in front of the stall, Betty can only see her legs, clad in ripped blue jeans.
âIâm not leaving until you let me talk to you,â James says stubbornly, but Betty can hear the way her voice is shaking now too.
âWell then it looks like weâre both going to be here for a while, I hope youâre ok with skipping 2nd period,â Betty spits back out just as stubbornly.
âI wish I could see your face, but I guess Iâll just say my piece through the door,â James sighs once again.
Betty doesnât want to hear what she has to say, but on the same hand, she supposes it has to happen and sheâs not sure she can bear to look James in the eyes when it does. Her response is silence and James takes that as her go ahead.
âI didnât want you to find out like that,â James says almost timidly after about 30 more seconds of silence.
The soft admittance digs the knife in so deep Betty feels like she canât breathe for a moment, a whole new batch of hot, angry tears already pouring down her cheeks, âSo itâs true.â
She can hear James sniffle and she knows that sheâs crying too, âIâm so sorry Betty.â
âWhy?â Betty canât hold her emotions at bay any longer and a choked sob follows the one-word question.
âIt just happened, I donât even know,â James is floundering but not coming up with any valid reasons, âbut believe me, I feel terrible. I feel so guilty, itâs been eating me alive.â
âThen why did you keep doing it?â Betty replies almost venomously, you wouldnât know she was crying by the tone of her voice.
Jamesâs quiet sniffles have turned into full blown sobs and Betty can barely understand her lame excuse of a response, âI donât know.â
âWho is she?â Betty asks coldly, she has to know.
âHer name is August,â James manages to choke out, âI met her in softball this summer. She doesnât go here.â
Betty suddenly feels so angry she can barely keep her body from shaking. She pulls at the delicate chain around her neck, a necklace James got her shortly after they started dating. Betty yanks at the little gold heart until the chains breaks free from her neck, and she tosses it under the door at the other girl.
âObviously, you realize weâre no longer going to homecoming together this weekend right?â Betty asks dryly, her hands still shaking, sheâs surprised she hasnât dropped the books in her lap.
Betty can see James delicately grab the broken chain and pendant off the floor, followed by another small sob, âCanât we just try and work this out?â
âHow could you possibly think we can work this out, when you canât even give me a good reason?â her voice sounds tired and sad, so very sad, exactly how she feels on the inside, Bettyâs not sure she can make it through the rest of this day.
James doesnât respond, just quietly weeps on the other side of the door. Betty has had enough, she needs to leave this bathroom â now. She stands up and smooths out the wrinkles in her yellow sundress, trying to salvage what little dignity she has left. She swings the door open and James looks momentarily surprised.
âMove,â Betty doesnât even make eye contact, but the tall blonde listens to her and scoots to the side, so Betty can walk past and out the door.
Betty doesnât even look back once, because if she did, she would never leave this room.
******
Itâs nothing short of a miracle that Betty even makes it through the rest of the day. It was a constant battle of holding back her tears and trying to avoid her ex-girlfriend, all while trying to function. Sheâs sure she still bombed that math test, even with the extra chance to put answers on the paper.
When she gets home, she bypasses going inside. She knows she wonât be able to avoid her motherâs questioning gaze. That alone will make her start bawling and she canât bear to tell the story one more time today. Instead, she heads past the gate leading to the backyard and straight to her garden. The one spot in this entire world where she feels truly at peace. She hopes it can bring her that same sense of relief today.
As soon as she flops her bag down in the grass, she weaves her way through the flower bushes and tomato plants, all the way to the back fence by her sunflowers. She all but throws herself at the earth, pulling her legs tight against her chest. A fresh batch of tears starts to trickle from her eyes. Betty truly didnât think she had any more tears to cry but being in this garden isnât having the healing effect she thought it would. It was foolish to think that she would be calm here. This garden holds too many memories of James, and Betty instantly regrets ever brining the taller girl here. Sheâs tainted the one place sheâs sought solitude since her family moved to this stupid town. When they moved, Betty had been distraught, leaving all her friends behind. Her mom and dad had both asked if there was anything that could make the move better. Betty had almost instantly said a big garden.
Betty loves the outdoors, she has ever since she was a kid. Her grandma had instilled a love for plants and flowers in her, from the moment she could walk. She remembers sticking her stubby little fingers in the dirt, placing delicate seeds with the aid of her grandma. Then helping to tend those sprouts until they produced leaves, flowers, and fruit. Thereâs something so gratifying about bringing new life into existence, with just a little water, sunshine, and love.
Now, what was once her happy place, is full of sour memories. Betty looks at a row of blueberry bushes and scoffs, remembering how excited James had been to see the blue fruit the first time Betty brought her here. That very same day, they shared their first kiss, next to the blueberry bushes. The sound of early evening crickets and the feeling of soft grass beneath her toes failed in comparison to the feeling of Jamesâs soft lips against hers. Her heart had soared and felt almost as full as being in this garden makes her feel.
Not anymore though.
Betty wonders if sheâll ever be able to look at this garden the same way ever again. She slowly stands from her spot in the grass and heads inside. Thankfully, her parents are no where to be seen and her little brother is still at soccer practice, so Betty is able to make it to her room without being seen.
The moment she enters her room, her heart sinks. The first thing her eyes land on, is Jamesâs ill-fitting cardigan hanging from her bed post. Her heart feels heavy as she remembers the day James had bestowed the beloved sweater upon her. They were taking a walk in the park, after getting ice cream. It was late September, so the days had been hot, but the evenings were starting to become chilly. Betty had shivered as they walked, instantly regretting leaving her denim jacket at home. James has always been observant. At the first sign of her coldness, James had slipped off her baggy cardigan and slipped it over Bettyâs shoulders. Betty felt warmer immediately and it wasnât just because of the soft fabric hanging on her.
Betty stomps over to the bed and all but rips the cardigan from the post, tossing it to the ground. She kicks it under the bed before flopping stomach first onto the mattress.
She was foolish to let James in. Now itâll take a lifetime to recover from the kind, beautiful soul that she thought James was. She thought that the blonde, softball player was going to be the one. Betty saw herself growing old with the other girl; buying a house, planting a new garden and raising a few kids. Sheâs only 17, almost 18. It seems foolish now that she was planning so far into the future with someone she has known for only a year, before her life has even truly begun.
An outsider might look at the situation and say she will move on. Sheâs so young. When you are as young as Betty, most adults assume that you donât know a thing about true love. But Betty knows how she truly feels, Betty knows that she was â still is in love with James. And she hates it.

JNPR Berries Week 2020
Day 6: Alternate Universe
Okay guys i hate aus and i always avoid au days for ship weeks but i actually have so many Pyrrha Lives/Fall Maiden!Pyrrha AUs and i got carried away i wrote almost 2k in bullet points
@jnprberriesweek
After Fall of Beacon Pyrrha has two options: 1) enroll at Haven with JNPR and continue to chase her Huntress dreams while paparazzi continue to make most things she does public, indirectly informing Salem where she is at all times. 2) drop off the face off the Earth both to avoid Salem/Cinder and to continue the Fall Maiden's job
Pyrrha being Pyrrha (self-sacrificing) goes with option 2
JNR decides thereâs no way theyâre going to let (a freshly discharged) Pyrrha go running into unknown with no friends or backup
Sheâs worried about putting them in danger (even though thatâs the Hunter job description) but Goodwitch reminds her that sheâs only at half power so she should accept the extra protection, and friends since sheâs about to leave her whole life behind to live as a nomad which makes making friendships difficult to create and maintain
(Pyrrha doesnât mention that sheâs pretty sure she sees all of them in the more romantic light)
JNR help Pyrrha change her whole appearance. Which is very important since sheâs also famous
She looses her iconic armor and has to leave her weapons behind
JNR tries to convince her to cut her hair but sheâs worried about not being pretty
Jaune unhelpfully reminds her that thatâs probably a good thing considering theyâre trying to make her as non-noticeable as possible (poor boy just meant sheâs so pretty already she'll probably never be able to blend into the background of any crowd)
Ren is actually the one who has to go "Pyrrha youâre gorgeous shorter hair isnât gonna change that at all"
Then Ren goes "look at Nora she has short hair and sheâs stunning for all we know youâll look even better with short hair"
Pyrrha and Nora are practically speechless because Ren thinks theyâre beautiful
Pyrrha is like okay but I wonât let you cut it any shorter than here (gestures to mid-chest level). (JNR tries not to look at her boobs)
Nora then tries to get her to dye it. Pyrrha holds out
JNR end up in Vol 4 outfits
Pyrrha makes the difficult choice of deciding to fake her death. She makes sure her friends (she unfortunately is unable to contact Blake or Weiss) and family still know sheâs alive (but they still grieve her as if sheâs dead. They most likely will never see her again. The only ones likely are her parents) but to the world Pyrrha Nikos is dead, killed in the Beacon Massacre
JNPR sets off through Vale (Fall Maiden's territory)
Pyrrha has a hastily made vaguely similar weapons to her last set. She may be a professional but sheâs a professional with her chosen weapons and semblance, not most other weapons
JNR sees how Pyrrha dies inside every time a little kid or random citizen tells her "did you know you look a lot like Pyrrha Nikos?"
Pyrrha is also now getting hit on without her celebrity pedestal to keep people at bay
The first few times its truly pathetic how Pyrrha responds
JNR doesnât intervene because they remember how sad she was about no one asking her to the dance
What JNR thinks is theyâre coming into rescue her only occasionally. The truth is Pyrrha is getting rescued every time by a different member and lots of times one of them will step in before anyone even approaches her
Most of the time sheâs happy one of them intervened
Some times sheâs mad that no one will let her handle this herself (no one has realized that yet)
A lot of the time she feels all warm and fuzzy because for a few moments she gets to pretend. Sheâs given a free pass to slow dance with Nora, or to lean into Ren when he puts a arm around her waist, or get away with kissing Jaune on the cheek
(JNR are also very happy when they get these excuses.)
Jaune typically intervenes because heâs a nice guy and watching Pyrrha flounder is horrible. Ren and Nora always intervene because theyâre either being protective or jealous (Ren has perfected the evil eye. People will back off before they even finished crossing the room)
They almost always camp out but when they stay in town they usually share beds to save money
Originally they were doing girls in one bed boys in the other but Nora is the whole kicking, sprawling, blanket snatching package so they typically pull straws on who gets to share with her
Sometimes even her bed buddy will leave in the middle of the night and see if they can squeeze in with the other two
On the other hand Jaune drools, Ren sleeps like a vampire, and Pyrrha snores
With Pyrrha, Jaune, and Ren all pushing six feet whenever two of them pair up touching is unavoidable
Most of the time everyone but Nora (who can fall asleep instantly) stay up freaking out about being so close to their crush. Ren actually freaked so much the first time he moved to the floor and activated his semblance just so he could sleep
Pyrrha is a side sleeper so she always ends up tangling her legs with her bed buddy. Sheâs always embarrassed but tries to stay in that position as long as she can (its the only selfish thing she allows herself)
Winter however quickly forced JNPR to start sharing sleeping bags
They always zip both bags together but all decided spooning is the way to go after too many cold nights. They also bought a tent just big enough for the four of them in order to trap escaping body heat
Jaune is dying from so much close contact. Was it not bad enough he has to see all of his (recently discovered) crushes get changed twice every single day? Was accidentally seeing Nora's abs and walking into a door frame in Beacon not enough?
Nora and Pyrrha on the other hand are loving it (when its not absolutely freezing)
Ren has caught all three of them arguing over who gets to sleep with him that night several times. Apparently heâs the best big spoon
A pack mule joke turns into them actually looking into getting one
Originally they wanted a horse, but when they actually were looking they ran into the problem of 1) its too tall for Nora to pack the bags 2) horses are massive and JNPR quickly realize they're scared of them
So that leaves either a pony, donkey, hinny, small mule, or llama
They end up with a donkey and name her Betty. Nora wanted "Bessie" but Ren refused to give in on the basis that sheâs a donkey and not a cow
They also take this opportunity to purchase more bulkier items that would make their life more comfortable that they were unable to carry by themselves before (tents, pots and pans, extra shoes, more jackets, books)
They're over a year in when Ren of all people gets high and talks about his feelings
He thinks heâs talking to Betty but really heâs been talking to a tree stump for the last hour
He got high by taste-testing the mushrooms he was cooking
The team came back from getting firewood and unpacking Betty to find him laying in the mud giggling at the sky with their questionable mushrooms burning on the fire. It was pretty clear what happened
JNP have been making sure he wont hurt himself but mainly theyâre enjoying the show
"Psst Betty. Betty. You wanna hear a secret?" JNP lean in "Iâve managed to fall in love with my entire team. You canât tell anyone though. I donât think Iâll ever tell them either. Im not good with feelings, and that would probably make me a terrible boyfriend"
He then goes on about what he likes about each person. He goes off on a tangent about someoneâs eyes for seven minutes. He talks about his favorite facial expressions everyone makes and the best parts of their personality. Nora's been red for awhile now, Jaune is leaning so far forward Pyrrha's worried heâs gonna catch on fire, and Pyrrha is actually tearing up
He says how he feels guilty whenever he cuts in on whoever is moving in on Pyrrha, that he feels guilty about being jealous but also about sending someone away when he knows Pyrrha wants that experience, and how he doesnât realize heâs already moved in to stop the person until theyâre walking away
That he feels like he could mess up everything he has with Nora, not by going into a relationship with her but by being unable to open up any more emotionally than he is now which he knows she'll expect (theyâve talked about being âtogether-togetherâ before)
He laughingly mentions that one time Pyrrha said she wanted a guy taller than her because Ren gets it now because when heâs bunking with Jaune in the winter heâs found he really likes being held by someone taller than him
Ren then goes "oh no. No no no its bad enough Iâm talking about my feelings out loud Iâm not going to tell you who has the best ass. Arenât donkey's also called asses? Whatâs it like being a donkey?" And everyone is laughing
Pyrrha is the first to break after they fall back into listening. She looks at the fire the whole time. She admits she feels the same way about all of them, that she also planned on never saying anything.
Then Jaune pipes in that he just figured it out for himself pretty recently. That at first he was worried it was either teenage hormones or that he was reacting to a vastly shrunk dating pool and therefore the feelings werenât real. (Unlike Ren and Pyrrha his feelings didnât begin romantic and then expand his started sexual until realized what he thought was strong platonic feelings might actually be romantic)
Nora is still red with her hands over her face but eventually she says that sheâs been attracted to all of them since team JNPR formed and "since we all clearly feel the same way about each other can we stop with the super embarrassing love confessions and makeout already"
When Ren wakes up that morning he remembers very little since he doesnât know what were dreams and what were hallucinations. He has a dehydration headache and rolls over but Pyrrha sees heâs awake and she comes sits next to him. Ren doesnât uncurl until she started playing with his hair. "How much of last night do you remember?" "Mostly just colors." "Ummm okay. Remember anything anyone said?" "I think I had a conversation with Jaune about rocks." "That was to Nora actually. But you did think she was Jaune." "Mmhm." "So last night there was a development, but since you were high I wanna ask you again now that you're sober." "Okay." "So ummm, we're kinda all dating now? But if you wanna back out now that you're sober you totally can." "What do you mean by 'kinda all'?" "All four of us." "And you all want to date me?" "Yeah, you donât remember all the love confessions that happened last night." "Oh. Did my rock conversation interrupt all that?" "No. You actually confessed first." "I WHAT."

the motion of the ocean
(Part 2/3)
Falling in love with Riverdale, Theme 2
The weeks leading up to Valentineâs Day were some of the busiest of the year, so the shifts tended to pile up and their other boss, Hilda, was kind enough to make sure overtime pay was offered. Consequently, those of them who were still there at closing on Friday decided to celebrate with a small staff party in the employee break room: Betty, Jughead, Veronica, Kevin, Reggie, Toni, Cheryl, and Sweet Pea. Bottles of domestic beer mingled with plastic cups of expensive wine that Veronica had supplied and bags of valentineâs candy littered the table, an acknowledgment of todayâs holiday.
âThe unrealistic part, boys, is that porn has everyone thinking they have to change positions every...thirty...seconds,â Veronica stared down every male around the table over the top of her aubergine cat-eye frames as she imparted that piece of wisdom. âConstantly moving around ruins the buildup, and yet thereâs still so much artless thrusting,â she scolded.
You see: it was a truth universally acknowledged that employees at a sex toy warehouse must at one point discuss their sex lives.Â
All around the table, there were murmurs from the other women who agreed with Veronica, Betty included. Reggie and Sweet Pea stared around, wide-eyed, absorbing that revelation. She hid a smile as she took a drink of her wine, noting that Jughead was just nodding pensively from his spot across from her, toying with the toothpick between his teeth. That one specific curly lock of black hair had escaped the confines of his beanie, tempting Betty with the urge to tuck it back in herself. Or just yank off the hat.
The rest of their shift after that awkward run-in at the Reject Boxes had been mercifully quiet, with both of them focusing on their individual tasks. If anything, the silence in the Content room had been too thick, their usual friendly conversation not there to dispel the tension.Â
âApparently lots of boys and men haven't heard of 'it's not the size of the boat, it's the motion of the oceanâ,â Jughead quipped, sending her mind into overdrive. Betty imagined herself straddling him in the chair, skirt bunched up by his hands and her underwear clinging to one knee, canting her hips in rhythm with the movement of his while he murmured encouraging words into her ear.
âExactly!â Veronica chimed.Â
From across the table, Cheryl snorted, bursting Bettyâs little fantasy bubble. âObviously...unless youâre Kevin, whoâs a self-proclaimed size queen.â Hoots and hollers followed, and Kevin good-naturedly took the ribbing and accepted the air-kiss Cheryl blew him.
âWhoa dude,â interjected Reggie, assessing Kevin with a curious glint in his eyes. âHave you given my boy Colt a try?â He jerked his thumb over at two of the massive dildos in their plastic encasing, innocuously on top of the communal fridge. All eyes widened as they turned back to Kevin, who scoffed.
âNo thanks, Iâve watched the amateur videos, and those were traumatizing enough for me. And besides, why are we picking on me when we should be picking on Betty?â
Betty flushed as seven heads swiveled over to her. Kevin had thrown her under the bus and Veronica wasted no time pouncing. âYes, because there is a mystery afoot in this employee break room, and itâs why Betty Cooper gave up on The Year of Horny Betty, in February, after two measly dates.â
Sweet Pea, who had been balancing on the back legs of his chair, winked at her. âThe Year of Horny Betty? I could stand to hear more about thaâwhoa, fuck!â Someone (presumably Jughead) kicked at his chair from under the table, forcing him to bring it down with a loud thud.Â
Betty, however, was too busy glaring daggers at Veronica for having the temerity to bring up The Year of Horny Betty while Jughead was present. Chancing a glance over at him, she was surprised by the heat in his stare. For a moment, it was almost like they were the only people in the room.Â
âSpill!â Reggie slapped the table, starting a chant with Toni and Kevin, the traitor. âSpill, spill!â
âFine,â she told them, âif you must know, those two dates were just tooâŠâ she shuddered, making a face. âThe first guy was a snob who wouldnât shut up about all the expensive things he owned, the prestige clubs he had membership in, and I swear sometimes when he looked at me he was fantasizing about wearing my skin or something. The second guy was boring as hell and kissed like a wet vacuum.âÂ
That got her a series of sympathetic grimaces.
âFYI, before this, she hadnât been on any dates nor had any sex since she broke up with her high school sweetheart Ethan before graduation,â Veronica explained. To Betty, she said cajolingly, âB, donât you miss partner-assisted orgasms?â
âI wish I could, but Ethan never even made me come,â she murmured before knocking back the rest of the wine in her cup as a chaser.
âWHAT?â Veronica, Kevin, Cheryl, and Sweet Pea shouted.
âThatâs just wrong.â Reggie shook his head.
"Not even during oral?" Toni asked. At Betty's meaningful stare, she muttered, "Shit, I make sure women come when I go down on them, it's like the number one rule." Cheryl turned to give the pink-haired woman an assessing look.
âAt all?â Veronica asked, brows furrowed as she tried to understand that concept.
Betty shrugged. âMe rubbing my clit while doing all the work on top of him doesnât count.â
It felt good to finally admit it out loud; it felt even better when her confession led to a varied and in-depth discussion about the struggle for honesty with sexual partners. All the while, she sat there, feeling warm all over, either from the wine or Jugheadâs attention, interjecting with her opinion from time to time and generally participating in a debate about sex in a way she hadnât thought she could.
Come six oâclock, when the alcohol wound down and several of her coworkers begged off, citing a need to go grab dinner, Betty felt light. She donned her coat and shouldered her tote, heavy with the naughty goodies sheâd helped herself to, and waved the others goodbye as she started the trek to her college.
âBetty.â
Spinning around, she saw Jughead hurrying to catch up to her. âHey, Jug.â
âMind if I walk with you the rest of the way?â She knew he was at Jonathan Edwards, which was slightly closer than Grace Hopper, her residential college.
âSure.â
They walked in silence at first, but Betty could tell Jughead was on the verge of saying something. She decided to be patient.
âSo, Iâm a virginâ probably wasnât the last thing she expected to come out of his mouth, but she was shocked nonetheless.Â
âOkay,â she said hesitatingly.Â
âI just want to be upfront,â Jughead told her, looking nervous but determined. âOur conversation at the afterparty got me thinking and...I have a proposition for you, Betty Cooper.â At her intrigued eyebrow raise, he continued, âThe last thing I want is to come off as a creeper, so feel free to say no and Iâll forget all about this, no questions asked and no umbrage taken.â
âOminous, but go on.â
âSince sex, good sex, can benefit from continual communication, I was thinking I could help you resurrect your New Yearâs Resolution.â
âThe Year of Horny Betty, you mean,â she said dryly.
Jughead grinned mischievously. âWell, you came up with a very clever plan title there, it deserves to be seen all the way through to completion.â She didnât need to ask to know he meant orgasms. âAnd Iâm aware that porn has been the gateway Sex Ed for many, but Iâve taken advantage of some of the many instructional videos the store has which I theorize would be more useful in application.â
He made it sound like Betty would be testing out a hypothesis. Her mind flashed back to the dvd heâd chosen out of the Friday Reject Boxes.
âSoâŠâ she dragged out the vowel, âIâd be doing it for the science?â she teased.
âItâs a noble pursuit, just ask Masters and Johnson,â argued Jughead.
Betty really wanted to have sex with Jughead, that wasnât in question. Lots of sex. A big part of her was jumping at the opportunity he was offering her.
âAnd what do you get out of it? You want me to...god, I canât even say it...pop your cherry?â When it came to Ethan, she had been a virgin the first time they had sex, but her ex wasnât.Â
âCash in my v-card?â he grinned. âI rather like âmaking my sexual debutâ, though.â
âVirginity is a social construct anyways, but...me? Are you sure?â
Jughead stopped right there in the middle of the sidewalk and earnestly told her face-to-face, âYou asked me what Iâd get out of it. The answer is you, Betty. Satisfying you.â
That was quite possibly the most romantic and erotic thing anyone had ever said to her.
âOkay,â she said, a little breathlessly. âSo...your room or mine?â
Jughead had the grace to look a little abashed. âI was hoping we could at least eat dinner first.â

Serendipity
Luffy & reader; platonic
the origins of Luffyâs smile
a/n: happy birthday kingâĄ
âHa! Brace face, brace face!â A swarm of middle school kids single out a tiny boy, not above the age of 12, and backing him up to a corner of the cafeteria. It was a Monday my dudes, and you know what that meansâ it was the start of another dreadful morning for Monkey D. Luffy... or as what the other kids say, Monkey D. Brace Face.Â
Growing up, Luffy has had some whack ass teeth and Dadan being the good guardian that she is, forced him to get these metal restrictions on his teeth for a nicer smile.
âShut up!â A bit of drool peeks out as his words slur together, âleave me alone or else Iâll kick your ass!â The kids laugh even more, nobody daring to help the poor Luffy out of his predicament.Â
âHorse face!â
âBeaver mouth!â
âNerd! What a loser!â
ïżœïżœMetal mouth! Train tracks!â
Out of frustration, Luffy growled as his legs lunged towards them like a ravish beast. Just in time, Principal Garpâs reflexes caught him mid air, effectively preventing Luffy from biting the heads off of the little twerps.
âBoys! Office! Now.âÂ
After a few phone calls to parents, the endless teasing faded into the distance as Luffy stayed behind in the office.
âBoy, quit getting into trouble will ya? Canât keep covering your ass forever yâknow.â Garp swung his legs onto the desk, leaning against his chair to comfortably enjoy his donut.Â
âI know. I know,â he repeated, stubbornly refusing to look at his grandpa, âthey started it! They call me brace face and train tracks. Theyâre annoying so I thought to kick them in the head to shut them right up.â
âYouâre liking Iâm not telling dear old Dadan.â Shivers run down Luffyâs spine. Nobody likes it when Dadan is mad, especially Luffy. Last time he made her mad, he was homeless for a week.Â
âAight, thanks old man! Well that settles itââ he turns on his heel, âsee ya around!â
âWait! Keep your mouth shut next time.â Garp exhales a big breath, âand bring me my donut.â
He doesnât like to smile. There was no reason to smile because every time he did, he always ran into trouble.Â
He hates smiling. He hates his stupid teeth. Hates how people are so fucking mean because heâs different. It never really bothered him until now; puberty really be no joke, even if he was a little late to the party.
In amidst his sad train of thoughts, he ran into this girl in the middle of an empty hall, who uhm, had a very interesting fashion choiceâtank top over a shirt with some colored leggings, a stack of bangles decorating her wrists all the way up to her forearm and whew donât let me get started on those leg warmers.Â
âOh, hey! Never seen you around before,â he smiled, the metal protruding from his mouth, âshishishi, youâre weird!â He took a closer look at you, taking you aback from his honesty.
âO-oi! These are cool!â Proudly displaying the matching rings on your hand, Luffyâs smile became impossibly bigger. âAnd Iâm not weird, fish eyes. I just happen to be way ahead of my time.â
âI like you. Iâm Luffy!â
You introduced yourself and returned the smile, only to retract it back when he called you the wrong name. This was the start of the strangest friendship, who wouldâve thought Thomas the train tracks and ugly Betty McGee would become friends?
â-
âHa??? Whatâs this? Ugly Betty and the Ugly Fuckling got together!â The bully boys were back, disheartening Luffyâs new profound confidence. âgRR SHUT UP,â his big mouth says without processing, âpick on someone your own size jackass!â
âCanât do that since thereâs nobody above me, moron.â The boy grabbed the milk from Luffyâs tray and squeezed it, the warm milk splashing all over his face. âTake that, pathetic loser. Thatâs what you get for getting us in trouble the other day! Iâll rip that shit from your teeth if you test me again, nerd!â
Before the bitchass can do anything more, you stood up for Luffy. âBack off buddy. Luffy was literally breathing and you came over. Stop picking on someone defenseless.âÂ
He scoffed and commended your retort mockingly. To show his unwavering resolve, he dunked the nearest tray all over your Hannah Montana jacket. âFucking sucker.â
The kids stopped eating and paid attention to the scene that was about to go down.Â
âLeave Y/n out of this.â
âTry and stop me Thomas.â
That was the last straw. A punch was thrown across his face, knocking him down, his cockiness replaced with fear. âYou can insult me all you want, you jerk,â he spat out, âbut donât you ever DARE hurt my friend. Because next time, Iâll give you more than a black eye. Iâll beat your ass.âÂ
Everyone watched in shock. Luffy was on top of the table, fists balled and nostrils flaring. The bully looked so helpless.
âDamn it LUFFYY,â Garpâs voice boomed throughout the cafeteria, causing Luffy to scramble off the desk and run away, laughing, while pulling you along with him.Â
â
And from there, middle school was great. It was almost like a fairytale adventure! The amount of pranks pulled and not giving a single fuck of what people thought was what really made it memorable. The laughter and Luffyâs toothy smiles were a bonus. Alas, it was the end of an era when promotion happened and you had to leave, but at that time, Luffy wasnât alone anymore; he now had the grumpy little moss head named Zoro by his side.
âAre you sure you have to go?â
âIâm sure Iâm not tryna be left behind!â
His hands crossed behind his head as he kicked the nearest pebbles on the floor. âHow sure are you?â
âPretty sure Iâm leaving with my fam, bro.â You slammed the last of your tunics into your stocky suitcase. âBut all the memories we shared... they were all gucci my man. It was the pea to my pods, the fucking yin to meh yang, the apple to my eye,â he had no clue what the hell you were saying and was even more confused when you placed your hand on his shoulder. Your first was balled up into a ball and over dramatic tears spilled down your cheeks. âI will forever miss you, home dawg. But on some real shit, this be an end to an era.â
âY/n, youâre leaving, not dying,â he pouts, âspeak English not shaker speaker.â
âShakespeare,â you corrected. âDonât forget about me you hoebag.â You ruffled his little tangled locks as Luffy nods and holds his two thumbs up in affirmation. You squeeze him in that annoying hug he hates so much. And it dawned upon you: you need a picture. This one is hitting the scrapbooks youâve been making.
You shuffled around for your Sony camera and flipped it to take a selfie. Luffy hesitates for a moment.Â
âCmon man! Just one for my scrapbooks please.â
You pull him closer to your frame and smile the dorkiest smile you can muster, he does the same. This was for the scrapbooks you treasured after all. You reviewed it with him. It looked perfect, the red-lined braces being the most prominent thing in the photo along with your Nirvana tee and animal-shaped rubber bands.Â
âYou should smile more bro! You look so good here!â
And maybe for the first time, he does smile at the compliment, ignoring the string of metal wires along his teeth. He was gonna miss you.
Before you departed, he gave you one last fist bump. âSee you around, Y/n!â was the last thing you heard before the taxi drove off.
And he doesnât see you for a long time. And his braces get removed, making high school a bit easier than the years prior. And yes, maybe he doesnât see you until college, but one thing is for sure, he never stopped smiling.

i liked agent venom when i read it, partially because it actually had a discernible plot and a story that wasnât just half finished and abandoned from constant cancellations, but at the same time i hate it. i hate it so much.
i hate that flash became venom and suddenly, all of his relationships were completely erased except for like, betty and sometimes peter and that was it. mj and harry who? childhood friendship with liz? no sheâs just going to... blackmail him for some reason even though theyâve known each other for literally like 15 years
i hate the agent venom origin slott wrote, i hate flash being pissy about peter confiding in MJ, who they are both friends with, because if youâre dan slott you canât talk to girls unless you plan on fucking them, i hate how gung ho slott is about the military propaganda and the fucking american flag behind flash in superior spider-man, even though superior (a comic i donât ever plan to read in full) actually had a good moment with flash and âpeterâ and flashâs tenseness in a domestic argument situation
(i also hate that that one pre-agent venom web of spidey comic could have been good, actually had good assistive devices, but then... the entire villain plot is about some Mysterious Terrorist or whatever who nonetheless congratulates flash for âconstructivelyâ letting out his anger on faceless middle-eastern soldiers, and this is played straight--disgusting)
i hate all of it even the things i like because they took a character who actually was fairly complex and flattened him into a football-loving, gun-toting, all-american patriot who loves god and his country, at odds with the previous 30 years of character development, at odds with the flash who when asked if he liked being in the army (after being DRAFTED into fucking vietnam) said that there is no liking the army, only dealing with it, and i hate every bro who thinks agent venom was the coming of the great whatever and acts like flash was completely nothing before then and that only in agent venom did he have any character when the opposite is true and agent venom trampled out every bit of nuance he had to focus on alcohol and football and nothing else (at least bunn finally put him back into a school again, had him working with youth again (andi in this case))
i hate, unrelated to agent venom, the fact that flash the complex character has been further and further stretched and distorted to have been a horribly violent schoolwide bully as a teenager rather than what he actually was--an obnoxious kid with a fucked up home life trying to fuck with one specific kid--to the point that even in the college stuff, even AFTER having âbecome good,â heâs the only one who gets repeatedly and purposefully excluded from official works and fan works alike because everyone thinks of him as nothing more than a bully, that every movie appearance of flash sucks except TASM (which is still barely a flutter but you can tell thought was actually put into his character by the actor himself), the fact that heâs the only living member of the friend group (because i assume gwen is dead) who doesnât get more than a single-line mention in the ps4 game (but at least itâs positive, and i like to pretend that MJ was checking on him when she went to the veteranâs center since we know he works with veterans in the game, even if we never see him) (i still want to be able to go to coffee with mj, flash and harry all together)
i donât like the bullying flashback in the bunn AV run (even though i liked the comic as a whole, especially with andi, and how bunn and shalvey moved away from the military stuff more toward neighborhood protector stuff), i donât like bunnâs take on high school flash (he also wrote a different spider-man comic with high school flash a little bit before then)
i hate that flashâs growth wrt his disability, which he came to accept as a part of him that he didnât need to find some miracle cure for, was completely thrown down the toilet so they could do their stupid supersoldier agent venom shit, which flies directly against the SPECIFIC endpoint of the stages of grief comic, which SPECIFICALLY used superserums and bionic military limb testing as the thing he did not need in his life--and then dan slott runs over like teehee hereâs some bionic supersoldier military testing shit :3c
hate that he was killed for the stupidest reason by norman fucking osborn, hate that the disabled abuse survivor was killed by the man who killed one of his best friends, who abused another, who manipulated HIM, who drove him into a fucking building after force-feeding him hard alcohol, hate that norman got to âwinâ against flash one last time, hate that norman is now being treated as this fucking âcouldnât help itâ case while harry is Actually Bad, and still, flash is what? a dream symbiote dragon? fucking stupid and i hate it, i donât want any of it
every new thing i see about new spider-man and venom comics wrt flash makes me wish he would stay dead lmfao
but itâs not like there werenât already a ton of bad comics about him but at the very least... i would like something that isnât just about the Patriotic Soldier Boy who never actually fucking existed
the football thing is a really fun one--and i love that the TASM movie made flash play basketball in that movie because if you look at comics from the 60s through to the early-mid 2000s, preceding agent venom... flash stopped playing football after high school and started playing basketball instead. started doing other sports, probably stopped football because, gee i can guess who told him to play football in the first place, but somehow agent venom happened and decided that his entire life was just Football and Guns? when he hadnât touched a football in literally like... 10 years in-universe
(TASM best live-action spidey adaptation)
there is not purpose to this rant i just needed to get all this shit out of my head
i am very On Edge the past few weeks and idk why, just ADHD brain shit I guess but everything makes me tense lately (probably why i played through 77% of the spidey game in literally four days by virtue of doing absolutely nothing else in my free time) (iâm taking a break for the sake of my hands but maybe i should go keep playing lol)
i know some people like the dragon and iâve added it to my âflash transâ list but in the context of stories about flash over the past ten years i really am not interested, and this coming from someone who read eragon 9 times in middle school and grew up reading mostly high fantasy and dragon books. i just. donât want it. not by the writers currently going at least. maybe if it was someone else or if i knew it would be anything more than a future of soldier boy alcohol football crap lmfao
#nadia reads comics#anyway if anyone has recs for pre-2000s issues that focus on flash i would like that#i have read the prom story though i like that one... nuance...#not interested in the hobgoblin comics either i think those fucked up his character#flash: calls sha shan a wench#me: literally who the fuck is this cause it's not flash

Songfic Day 14: If
Day 14: A song youâd love played at your wedding: If - Bread
Jughead and Betty throughout their wedding day
*****
If a picture paints a thousand words,
Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show the you I've come to know.
 6:32 am - Betty
âGood Morning Besties! Time to rise and shine, we have to get the blushing bride to the chapel on time and weâre already behind schedule,â Veronica sang, pulling back the curtains of the grande suite sheâd rented for her best friend Bettyâs wedding.
âChrist Lodge, the sun is barely up, can you not?â Toni grumbled from one of the large king size beds that she and Cheryl had passed out the night before. Jellybean lay sprawled out on the sofa, snoring despite all the noise around her.Â
âNo can do, Topaz. As maid of honor it is my duty to keep you bridesmaids on schedule while also making sure B has everything she needs and stays sane today. Last thing we need is Alice complaining that things are running behind,â she said, placing two lattes beside Toni.
âV, itâs entirely too early to mention my mother. I need my coffee first before we can even go there. What time is it anyway?â Betty yawned, stretching as she spoke. Â
 7:35 am - Jughead
âArchie!â Jughead yelled across the apartment he shared with his best friend, Archie. After today, he would be moving in with his fiance -well wife- and he really couldn't wait.
He and Betty have been together for 6 years now and he couldn't be happier with his life. They were both officially done with school and had just opened their own Private Investigation Firm. That way they could work together while also allowing Jughead to have time to work on his novel.Â
Life had been good to them and now they finally get to be man and wife. Jughead was trying not to be sappy about it all, but this was his ultimate dream come true.
"What is it Jug? What time is it?" Archie asked, hair askew and wiping the sleep from his eyes.
"It's almost 8, coffeeâs in the pot. Have you seen my cufflinks? You know the ones Dad had made, the little silver crowns? I can't find them anywhere," Jughead was a bit worried when they werenât on his dresser that morning. FPâd had them made for the wedding with an identical pendant made for Betty to wear as well. And his Dad didn't give him a lot of gifts growing up so these were very important to him.Â
"Yeah man, there in the box with mine and the groomsmen's in my bag ready to go to the church," Archie said in a calming voice, "Don't freak out man, as your best man it's my job to keep you calm and threaten to murder you or break your legs if you try to run."
"I think death threats and acts of violence are a bit extreme, don't you Arch?" Jughead laughed.
Archie rolled his eyes, grabbing a cup to pour them some coffee, "Tell that to Veronica."
If a face could launch a thousand ships,
Then where am I to go?
  9:23 am - Betty
"V, Iâm so glad you talked me into doing a massage and facial before our mani-pedis. This is literally heaven," Betty sighed, taking a sip of her mimosa while the manicurist massaged lotion onto her calves.
"Only the best for my B. I wanted to make you feel as special your wedding day as everyday of my life has felt since you came into it," Veronica smiled, eyes glistening. Betty teared up at her best friends heartfelt words.
"Oh, V. I love you so much," Betty pulled her into a crushing hug, being sure not to shift her lower half. She felt a tear roll down her cheek and whispered, "Thanks for always being there for me, no matter what. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for you."
Veronica pulled back, laughing through a sob, "Ok, enough of that. I may have gotten the best waterproof makeup money can buy, but we aren't trying to test that claim today."
"Betty?" They both froze when they heard the voice calling from the hall. Betty let out an exasperated sigh.
 "In here, Mom."
 9:47 am - Jughead
"Coming!" Jughead yelled, walking towards the front door. When he opened it, he was met with the smiling faces of his father and his other three best friends.
"Congratulations, boy," FP stepped in, hugging his son tight, "I can't believe you're actually getting married."
"Thanks Dad, what you you doing here so early? I didn't expect you for another hour at least," Jughead said, hugging and high-fiving his groomsmen -Sweet Pea, Fangs, and Kevin- as they entered the apartment.
"You know Alice, she was itching to leave Riverdale at 6 this morning. I held her off as long as possible but thatâs like fighting a grizzly bear and well, Archie wasnât around for back up. Is JB here?" FP asked, looking around Jug's apartment for his daughter.
"She decided to stay over at the hotel with the girls so they could all be together to get ready or whatever they plan on doing," Jughead said, shrugging his shoulders.
"Looks Sweets will be disappointed. He was hoping to see her before we all had to get ready," FP nodded his head towards Sweet Pea who'd spent the entire time with his nose shoved in his phone, dopey grin plastered on his face.
It honestly used to bother him Sweet Pea and Jellybean had started dating when she turned 18 but he got over that fairly quickly. Just seeing how good they were for each other eased Jughead's mind. Besides that, Sweets looked at Jelly the same way he looked at Betty, so he knew what they had was real.
There's no one home but you,
You're all that's left me too.
  11:56 am - Betty
"Stand up straight, Elizabeth. We still have to finish getting you in this corset or we will never get your dress on properly," Alice huffed, pulling on the fabric. Veronica had gone downstairs to handle a situation with the caterers and all the girls had stepped out to get drinks and snacks for the rest of the wedding party, leaving Betty alone with her mother for the first time all morning. And frankly, she was about to her breaking point.Â
She loved her mother, she really did, and ever since she and FP had gotten better but as soon as the wedding planning started she had started to nitpick every little thing Betty did or choice she made.Â
With hips like yours, would a mermaid cut dress be appropriate? Elizabeth, just because Jughead wants a chocolate cake doesn't mean he should get it, itâs your special day. Is that really the font you chose for the invitations? Youâre seriously going to have your bridesmaids and groomsmen mixed up on both sides?
It has gotten so bad that Jughead and FP had to step in to tell her that it was enough and that she needed to back off. Which she did, that is, until she arrived this morning and thought sheâd try to pack months of criticism into one morning. Betty didnât need to deal with this today, of all days, so she grabbed her phone and sent an SOS text.
SOS... Send reinforcements to slay the dragon and save the princess...
âMom, I'm sure it will be fine,â Betty tried to stop the discussion but Alice was having none of it and cut her off.Â
âElizabeth, I just donât want those extra pounds youâve added these last few weeks to show through because you didnât properly shinch your corset. Now- â Alice was interrupted by a knock at the door.Â
âHey Alice, Dad said he needs your help. Something about his tie or something?â Jellybean smiled sheepishly but winked at Betty once Alice turned her back. Betty smiled, mouthing her thanks to her future sister-in-law.
âI swear, I have no idea how that man survived all those years on his own without me,â Alice scoffed as she marched out of the womenâs dressing area. Betty was grateful when Veronica walked back in the room, an apologetic look on her face and holding two lattes.
âI am so sorry, B. I swear I didnât mean to leave you alone with her this morning,â Veronica apologized.
âItâs ok Ronnie. Jug took care of it,â Betty smiled, sipping her cinnamon dulce white chocolate mocha.
 12:02 pm - Jughead
Betty: SOS... Send reinforcements to slay the dragon and save the princess...
âDad, get your woman before I have Sweet Pea hogtie her and toss her in your truck,â Jughead groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose in his frustration.
âOh Lord, whatâs she doing this time, boy?â FP asked. Jughead didnât answer, just handed him his phone to show FP the text from Betty. âAlright, Iâll take care of this. JELLY!â he yelled.
âYeah Dad?â Jellybean said, walking in from the hallway where she and Sweet Pea were talking with the rest of the wedding party.
âWe have a code viper in Bettyâs room, can you handle it for us please?â Jelly nodded, running out the door.
 âCode viper?â Jughead smirked.Â
FP simply shrugged and smiled at his son. âYouâve met that woman, right?â
And when my love for life is running dry,
You come and pour yourself on me.
 2:00 pm - Betty
âBetty, you look beautiful,â FP choked, grinning as he walked up to her at the front of the church. She beamed at FP, tears pricking her eyes.
âThanks FP, you clean up well yourself,â she chuckled. She was thankful to have FP in her life as her surrogate father. After everything that happened with her father and his death, she never thought sheâd have a chance to be walked down the aisle properly. But after living with FP and Jellybean her senior year, he really became the father she no longer had and she was so grateful.
 âAre you nervous?â he asked.Â
Betty shook her head and smiled, âNot even a little bit.âÂ
The music began and FP offered her his arm, âLetâs make you a Jones.â Betty placed her tiny hand in the crook of his arm and grinned. This was the moment sheâd been waiting for all her life.
 2:00 pm - Jughead
The doors opened slowly and Jughead lost his ability to breathe. At the end of the aisle, standing beside his father, was the most beautiful vision he had ever seen. Bettyâs dress, form-fitting until just past her hips and flaring out at the bottom, made her look like a princess in a fairytale. Her veil had tiny diamonds that sparkled like the stars in the sky, catching the light with every step she took towards him.Â
When their eyes locked, Jughead could feel the tears dripping from his eyes despite the goofy grin that was plastered on his face. He could see that Betty was as much in the same boat as he was, her smile rivaling the sunshine and her hands gripping tighter to the bouquet of wildflowers in her hands.
As his future stepped up to stand beside him, he knew that his life was finally complete. He had loved her for so many years that he couldnât remember a time when he didnât. His whole life had been leading to this moment and he was speechless. Betty placed her hand in his and squeezed, grinning at him.
 âHi Juggie.â
If a man could be two places at one time,
I'd be with you.
Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.
 3:33 pm - Betty
âI met Betty in my sophomore year of highschool when my family moved to Riverdale from the city. She was my tour guide at Riverdale High and the moment we met, I knew she would be my best friend. And even though we have had our ups and downs in the past, I have never regretted a moment that I have spent with her. My life would be incomplete without her,â Veronica paused to wipe a tear from her eyes, âOh, and Jughead is ok too, I guess.â Everyone burst into a fit of laughter.
âIn all seriousness, I have been around Jughead and Betty throughout their entire relationship and I can safely say I have never seen two people more in love. Well except for my Archikins and I,â everyone chuckled again at the nickname, âJughead, Betty, I wish you all the happiness in the world and I know that, without a doubt, there is not two people more suited for each other then you two. I love you guys, salud!â Veronica held up her glass as everyone chapped and sipped their champagne.
 3:35 pm - Jughead
âThanks everyone, um, I have known Betty and Jughead for my entire. We have all been friends since we were still in diapers and our parents would bathe us together,â Betty and Jughead blushed as people giggled, âUm, yeah but we have been through a lot together. I was actually really shocked when I first found out that they were dating, just simply for the fact that I never saw it coming. No one did really. But I remember seeing them one day outside Southside High and, with the help of Ronnie, I realized that they were soulmates. And I also realized that I wanted what they have with each other. I got lucky and found my soulmate too,â he paused to smile at Veronica, âJughead, you have always been more like my brother than anything and I am so happy for you. You deserve to be with someone who will treat you like you are their whole world, and youâve got that person beside you. Betty, you have been my rock since we were two years old. You helped me pass the second grade, you saved my life more than once when we were younger and I will always be thankful to have you in my life. You will always be my best friend and I am so happy that you and Jughead have found the happiness you both deserve together. I love you guys, cheers!â Â
If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die,
I'd spend the end with you.Â
And when the world was through,
  6:26 pm - Betty
Betty was thankful she had decided to change into a more comfortable dress as she moved with Veronica on the dance floor, dancing to cringy Britney Spears songs just like theyâd done so many times before. Betty bit her lip as she looked over her shoulder to see her husband standing off to the side, laughing and having a cigarette with Fangs and Toni, tie long gone along with his coat.Â
He had rolled up his sleeves earlier in the evening, showing off all the ink that heâd accumulated over the years that Betty loved to look at. His suspenders were hanging down around his hips in their usual place, his hair falling into his eyes and Betty couldnât help but think of how sexy he was. And better still, how he was all hers.Â
She told Veronica she was taking a break and walked over to the bar for some bottled water. As she sipped her drink, she glanced back over to where Jughead was and caught him staring at her while taking a drag from his smoke. She winked at him, biting her lip and slowly walking towards one of the coat closets near the front of the reception hall. Just before opening the door to step inside she ran the tip of her tongue around the rim of the water bottle and grinned, knowing he wouldnât be far behind.
   7:44 pm - Jughead
âMmm, Betty?â Jughead pulled away panting, lips bee stung from ravaging his wife in the tiny coat closet. Her breasts heaved as she tried to find her voice, âYeah?â she said, latching her lips to his neck, sucking a dark bruise for everyone to see.
âDo- um, do you think theyâve noticed we are missing yet?â Jughead asked, moaning loudly at the feeling of his wife's tongue on his bare skin. A loud banging at the door startled them both causing them to jump apart like two teenagers.
âYes, we know youâre missing and yes, the entire banquet does know what you are doing in here,â Veronica shouted through the door. Jugheadâs face turned bright red as Betty burst into laughter and threw her arms around his neck.
âTake me to our room, husband. I have plans for you,â Betty grinned.Â
âDonât threaten me with a good time, wife,â She squealed with laughter as Jughead threw her over his shoulder and pushed the door open to make a mad dash for the elevators.Â
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
Then you and I would simply fly away

Pretty Monster
Part 8/END
Request: Yes or No
Swangs Ending (Fangs and Sweets)
(Y/N) nervously pulled at his hoodie strings. Delilah smacked his hand gently.
"Relax, (N/N)." She mumbled, making the hoodie strings even again.
"When I told them you were okay, they looked thrilled. Pretty sure the short one started crying." Delilah giggled softly. (Y/N) nodded, clearing his throat.
"Who knew a demon could act like such a schoolgirl." She teased. (Y/N) rolled his eyes, gently pushing her. They heard two motorcycles approaching and Delilah gave him a reassuring smile. (Y/N) looked up as the two Serpents parked their bikes and Fangs wasted no time rushing over and jumping into his arms. (Y/N) huffed, gripping Fangs thighs as the tan male wrapped his legs around (Y/N)'s waist. Sweet Pea jogged over, chuckling softly before also hugging him.
"Group hug!" Delilah cheered, hugging them. The boys laughed and pulled back. Fangs looked close to tears and let out a breathy laugh, nuzzling his face into the crook of (Y/N)'s neck. Sweet Pea pried his boyfriend off the demon and smiled at him.
"It's good to see you." He said. (Y/N) glanced at Delilah. The witch sighed.
"It's good to see you too. (Y/N) isn't very good at positive emotions so you're gonna have to work with me a little. He loves you both very much." Fangs and Sweets chuckled at her words. (Y/N) gently nudged her with his elbow, rolling his eyes playfully.
"We love you too." Fangs cooed. (Y/N) softened his gaze, hugging the two before kissing their cheeks.
"Date at Pop's?" Sweet Pea offered. (Y/N) nodded.
"I'd love that."
Archie Andrews Ending
(Y/N) knocked on the door, glancing over at Betty who gave him a thumbs up from her porch. He looked forward, smiling at Fred.
"For a second I thought you and Arch had a falling out." Fred chuckled.
"Arch is up in his room." He said, letting (Y/N) enter. (Y/N) went up the stairs, pushing the bedroom door open.
"Who was at the door?" Archie asked without looking up from his math book.
"Some weird guy." (Y/N) replied. Archie looked up, shooting up from his bed. He opened and closed his mouth, not sure what to say.
"I would love to hear a 'Hey, I missed you' or something like that." (Y/N) could hear Fred laugh downstairs. Archie decided to hug him.
"Please don't ever disappear like that again." He whispered, tightening his grip. (Y/N) hugged him back.
"Promise.. Promise you won't leave. Promise you won't leave me." Archie sniffled, pulling back. (Y/N) nodded.
"I promise." He said softly, pressing a kiss to the gingers lip. Archie smiled and rested his forehead against (Y/N)'s.
"I love you."
"Of course you do." (Y/N) chuckled when Archie punched his arm gently.
"I love you too."
Betty Cooper Ending
(Y/N) went through the pink diary, reading some pages.
"Mom! I'm home!" Betty called into the house. (Y/N) looked up, watching the bedroom door open. Betty flinched, holding her chest.
"Sorry." (Y/N) apologized for scaring her, standing up and tossing the diary onto the bed. Betty dropped her bag, speedwalking towards him and wrapping her arms around his neck. She pulled back, gently touching his face.
"I'm not hallucinating, right?" She quietly asked, eyes watering. (Y/N) chuckled, shaking his head.
"No, Betty, you're not." Betty giggled, smiling as a tear rolled down her cheek. She cupped his face in her hands, leaning in and giving him a long awaited kiss.
"Alright, party's over, Betty come help me make dinner." Alice interrupted them. Betty looked over at her as (Y/N) quietly chuckled.
Jughead Jones Ending
"Okay, Betty, you know I hate surprises." Jughead said, trying to pry Betty's hands away from his eyes but Betty had an iron grip.
"You're gonna love this surprise, Juggie, I promise!" Betty replied. (Y/N) watched them in amusement. Betty finally removed her hands from Jughead's eyes. Jughead blinked a few times, eyes landing on the new motorcycle before flickering over to (Y/N). Jughead seemed to have a system shutdown, not being able to form a full sentence.
"Are you okay?" (Y/N) asked, laughing softly. Jughead flushed, glancing at Betty who held in her giggles.
"Yes, Romeo, I'm fine." Jughead said, stepping forward.
"That's good, Juliet." (Y/N) leaned in, kissing him. Jughead kissed him back, pulling him as close as possible. Jughead let his emotions show through the kiss, letting (Y/N) know the male was relieved to see him from the way he relaxed.
"Next time you run off, take me with you, got that?" Jughead stared at him.
"Got it, Juliet." (Y/N) smiled.
"Wanna give your new bike a test run?"
Malachai Ending
(Y/N) stared at the dying rose with a small frown.
"(Y/N)! Someone's here to see you!" Delilah called. (Y/N) sighed, leaving the guest room and heading to the front door. He paused, looking at Malachai.
"I'm gonna go bake some cookies." Delilah mumbled, leaving them alone. (Y/N) glanced at his unbuttoned shirt. Even in another life, he still had no fashion sense.
"I.. I wanted to get to know you. I had a weird dream about you. We were in a garden and I mentioned a rose or something like that." Malachai told him.
"You remembered how we first met." (Y/N) said. "Or rather how I met Josiah." He gave a small smile. Malachai stepped forward, gently grabbing his hand.
"Maybe you could give me a chance.. I might not be Josiah-" (Y/N) leaned forward, kissing him. He felt whole again. After Josiah, (Y/N) didn't bother with love again until the whole Hiram thing. Maybe fate took pity on (Y/N). Or maybe they were meant to be. Which ever it was, (Y/N) wasn't going to let death take his lover again.
"Come." (Y/N) took him to the bedroom, going over to the nightstand. He glanced at the rose, noticing the color had returned and it had new petals.
Veronica Lodge
(Y/N) huffed when Jughead forced him to sit. Betty shot him an apologetic smile. Veronica entered the room, sitting down and watching the other two leave. They stayed in awkward silence.
"Talk!" Jughead shouted. Veronica sighed.
"I'm not mad about what you did." Veronica told him.
"You had... Every right to attack him." (Y/N) watched her. She was genuine about it.
"We didn't have... The best start but I hope we can get to know each other." Veronica smiled at him as she spoke. (Y/N) nodded.
"Alright."
"How about we go to Pop's tomorrow?" She tilted her head. (Y/N) nodded. He intended on making Veronica the thing Hiram hated. A demon.

Hello! I am in love with everything you write. Youâre so creative and youâre inspiring me to finally sit down and write something again. I love reading fics with flustered Peter and DAMN you deliver. Iâm wondering if you could do a drabble with 23? :)
Hello, @sydzygy! Thank you for the prompt! Your message was so wonderful that I wish I couldâve gotten to it sooner! I have been writing this one for a while though⊠the end kinda kept getting further away until, whaddaya know, itâs over 5000 words. Plenty of flustered Peter AND flustered MJ though!
Thanks to you too, Anon! I saw the âplease.â I appreciated the âplease.â I made the fic NSFW.
Venus, ParkerPairing: Peter Parker x Michelle Jones (Spideychelle)Rating: E/NSFWWord count: 5602
23. âWe bet and you lost, so you have to do it.â
âI canât believe you didnât intervene,â Peter hissed to Nedas they climbed the dune. âSome âguy in the chairâ you are.â
âI didnât know he was going to make skinny-dipping thepunishment!â his best friend argued back. âHow was I supposed to guess that,Peter?â
âYou were supposed to stop it from happening in the firstplace! Â You were supposed to make somekind of excuse on my behalf as soon as the words âI bet Penis canât do abackflipâ were out of his mouth! I canât let people know Iâm good at thatstuff! It would totally blow my cover! I had to throw it.â
âIf I can make a suggestion,â Ned huffed as they neared thetop, brushing through tall spikes of grass; the navy skyline widened. âYoushould work on not reacting to peer pressure. I didnât make you take the bait.â
Peter sighed.
âI know, he just bugs me. Iâm so sick of being calledââ
âPENIS! PEEEEENIS! HURRY UP, YOU FUCKING TURTLE!â Flashyelled from the beach. The beam of his flashlight made looping patterns on theground.
Exchanging a weary look, Peter and Ned crested the dune andtook long, uneven strides down the other side, sand pouring into the sides oftheir shoes.
âFlash, come on, man,â Peter tried as they approached hisnemesis. âThis is stupid. It wasnât a fair challenge. Nobody can do abackflip.â
The other boy was unrelenting, grinning in the moonlight.Ugh. Peter just wanted to go back to the campground where the decathlon teamwas set up and have another sâmore. Get into his pajamas. Maybe talk to MJ nowthat Mr. Harrington had hit the hay and quit supervising their every move.
âWe bet and you lost,â Flash reminded him mercilessly, âsoyou have to do it.â
Peter glanced at the dark lake, slow waves licking the shorein a way that made him want to sleep rather than submerge his naked body intowater that was going to feel a hell of a lot colder now that the sun had gonedown.
âDonât wimp out, Penis.â
The nickname startled Peter and he gave Flash a sharp look.
âYou better not look.â
âOh please,â Flash said, rolling his eyes. (Peter was alittle bit insulted.) âI only have eyes for one man, and thatâs Spider-Man.â
Ned failed to muffle his abrupt chuckle and his best friendglared at him.
âSorry,â Ned mouthed. Flashâs well-known crush on Spider-Manwas a touchy subject for Peter. Shockingly.
The three of them watched the water for a minute. The soundof it, washing in and out, was really peaceful. What a beautiful night to beutterly played by some jackass. Suddenly, there was the vibrating of a phone. It turned out to be Nedâs.
âBettyâs air mattress keeps deflating,â he informed Peter, eyes on the screen. âShe asked if I could come help her.â
âGo ahead,â Peter allowed with a half-hearted smile. âYoudonât need to stick around for this.â
âYou should be thankful Iâm such a nice guy and didnâtinsist on an audience,â Flash piped up.
Ned gave Peter a sympathetic look and traipsed back towardsthe dunes and the campground beyond. Flash, completely devoid of sympathy, clicked his flashlight off and on impatiently.
âLetâs goooo,â hecomplained.
Peter groaned.
âFine, but turn around. Iâll yell once Iâm in the water.â
âSounds fair,â Flash agreed.
Of course it was fairâit was the one part of this horriblemisadventure that Peterâd had a say in. Wearily, he shed his clothes, droppedthem in a heap on the sand, and sprinted for the water. He wasnât going to callback to Flash until he was submerged up to his neck.
\
MJ didnât know who was whereâas far as she was concerned, being the teamâs captain for practices and tournaments didnât translate intobeing their babysitter for field trips and retreatsâjust that she was alone. And she liked it that way.
The campfire scene had been pretty mellow until Abe haddecided to experiment with physical equilibrium by balancing their quarteredlogs of firewood, stacking them higher and higher, flames dancing upwards toengulf them. Yeah, that was a little too Lordof the Flies for how MJ wanted her weekend to go, so sheâd left thewarnings and chastisement to Betty. (Ned had just shown up to potentially MacGyverher air mattress so the air would quit whistling out every time she laid downon it, leaving his girlfriend free to stop Abe from burning his eyebrows off.)
Sheâd wound through a thin barrier of trees to escape theglow of the fire and reach the valley of the path leading up between the dunes;now, MJ was scrambling upward, trying to keep her footing while also openingthe new app sheâd installed on her phone before theyâd left the city. It wassupposed to display the segment of sky currently over her position and map outwhich constellations should be visible to her. As she moved her phone around, the view would apparently shift, offering her information from horizon tohorizon, in any direction. Camp was just too bright and too sheltered to giveher the celestial panorama she craved.
Right when she lifted her gaze from her screen to check outthe vantage from the top of the dune, a blinding light swung across her face.
âOh my god, this is perfect, here.â
It was Flashâs voice, but MJ could only see pitch black.Asshole had completely wrecked her night vision. What was working was her senseof touch, tested when Flash shoved something against her stomach and shegrasped it instinctively. He was already half-running, half-tripping past her, heading for their teamâs campsite while MJ attempted to figure out what she washolding. Soft⊠lumpy⊠something that felt like denim?
She stuffed her phone into her pocket (she wouldnât be ableto see the screen until her eyes adjusted all over again) and staggered generallydownwards, aiming for the soothing sounds of a beach post-nightfall.
After a considerable amount of blinking as she made everyeffort to improve her sight, MJ figured she was halfway across the beach, somewhere between dune and lake. She was sufficiently close to distinguish adark shape in the water. Quickly, she brought the bundle sheâd been carrying toarmâs length and realized it was an entire set of clothes. Minus shoes, but MJalmost fell over one of those on her next step. Had Flash murdered someone outhere and tricked her into finding the body? What a shithead.
âMJ?!â
She flushed like sheâd been caught. She also jumped a littleand something dropped limply onto her foot.
âUhâŠâ MJ called back to Peter, recognizing his voice and thepale circle of his face a little ways out in the water. ââŠhey, Parker. Why do Ihave your underwear?â
Stooping, she snatched up the item that had fallen and wavedit over her head like a flag of surrender. Sheâd spoken before she was certain, but one of the pieces of clothing was definitely jeans and, out of the cottonythings that remained, well, whatever she was flailing in the air was the onlyone with an elastic band.
She assumed Peter was crouching because the whole team hadbeen swimming earlier in the day and found the drop-off was a good 100 yardsout, but he confirmed it. With a sudden splash, he started to rise out of thewater and head in her direction. He sunk back down just as abruptly and MJsmiled to herself at his embarrassed laugh, lowering her arm. Excellent, she realizedshe could see nowâmaybe not far enough to view Peter in detail but, obviouslyshe wouldnât want that. Why would she want that? She wouldnât.
âIâm not sure,â he called to her, âbut I could guess. I thought I left my clothes on the beach.Between that and you having them, well, thatâs gotta be Flash.â
âThat clears everything up,â she replied wryly, tossing hisclothes down with a plop and walking to the waterâs edge. Amusingly, Petershrunk back a bit. âLet me recite that timeline back to you. First, youâre downhere with Flash. Second, you strip naked. Third, Flash blinds me and gives meyour clothes. Youâre pretty smart, Peter. I think youâll agree that storyleaves a few highly suspicious gaps.â
He groans loudly and MJ grins.
âFlash tricked me into trying to do a backflip, I lost a betwhen I couldnât, and he has zerosense of human decency.â
âBut you can do a backflip.â She was puzzled.
âWhat?â
âIâve seen you do a backflip.â
âYou have? When?â
Woops. The perils of being very observant. It wasnât likesheâd spied on Peter, sheâd just forgotten something after decathlon practice afew weeks ago, gone back, and seen him flip off the stage in the auditorium. MJdidnât know his gymnastic talents were a secret, exactly, she just hadnâtmentioned them to anyone because initiating conversations still wasnât secondnature. If these abilities were asecret, she wasnât protecting him on purpose. Definitely not.
âUh, donât remember,â she said, airily blowing him off. Shefrowned. âArenât you cold out there?â
She saw him shrug.
âItâs actually not that bad. I had my head under for aminute, which is probably when Flash booked it out of here with my clothes.â MJsnickered and didnât reply. âOk,â Peter said after a few seconds, âwell, Iâllsee you back at camp.â
She stiffened.
âIâm not your personal courier.â
ââŠWhat do you mean?â
âI mean I didnât come down here to deliver your clothes, loser. Iâm not leaving yet.â
âBut Iâm naked!â he yelped.
MJâs body was just trying to keep her warm without theexternal help of the campfire. That was all this sudden surge of heat was.
âYou know, I did actually comprehend that when I had yourboxers in my hand.â She glanced sideways where sheâd set his clothes. âYou maywant to shake them out before you put them back on, by the way, unless youenjoy sand in delicate places.â
She could practically hear Peterâs weary exhale, butsomething in MJ insisted that she not vacate the beach just because he told herto. This wasnât his private property and he had no authority over her. Shewasnât his to⊠to⊠Heat flooded her again, face to feet. Yes, this wasdefinitely just her irritation at being bossed around by Backflip Boy.
âWhen are youleaving?â he tried.
âWhen Iâm done.â
His words sounded like resignation to her, so MJ began torelax again, the way sheâd felt when sheâd strolled out of camp on her own. That was weird. This calm was something she usually (always) experienced whentotally alone. But Peter was here. Peter was here and he was lazily swimmingcloser, toes probably creeping along the sandy floor of the shallows.
âSo⊠whyâd you come out here?â
MJ started to explain, then paused to fish the phone thatwas her alibi out of the pocket of her jean shorts.
âTrying to see the stars better. Thereâs too much light atcamp.â
âOh yeah? Cool!â He propelled himself forward some more. Atonce, she was panicky, heart beating too fast. She concentrated on her phone, the screen mostly dark but for the points of light representing stars.
âI said âstarsâ not âStar Wars,â before you get tooexcited,â MJ warned sarcastically, not looking up.
âMy interest in space goes beyond the fictional.â
She raised her head, readying a snarky reply that never came.Peter had his shoulders above the water now, arms out to the sides for balance. As she stared, he tipped his head back, rewetting his hair, then brought it upagain. Her fingers went slack around her phone and she had to catch it with herother hand.
âWhat were you trying to see specifically?â he asked, wipingwater away from his eyes as it ran down from his hair.
It was a struggle to compose herself, but she did it.
âWell, I sure wasnât looking for Uranus.â
Peter huffed and stroked with his arms, sending himbackwards several feet. MJ was laughing.
âPeter, donât. It was a joke. I canât see anything.â
It took a long, careful stare before he drifted neareragain.
âI know,â he eventually conceded. âI know you canât seeanything. The dark, the distance, the distortion of the waterâŠâ She wanted tocough the word ânerd,â but she restrained herself. âBut Iâm vulnerable here,âPeter went on, gesturing at himself with both hands. âI canât leave.â
âDo you want to?â MJ asked without thinking it over.
Peter met her eye.
âDo you?â
She swallowed and cocked her head stiffly, jerky with afluttering anxiousness. It wasnât a dare, it wasnât a bet (yeah, Peterâdprobably had enough of those for one night), and yet there was something aboutthe way heâd said itâthose two words.
Maintaining eye contact, MJ sat in the sand. This was herstaying. She shuffled her feet out of her flip-flops and flicked them off tothe side, then stretched her legs straight out until her heels were in the lake.Peter was also in the lake. Everything was fine. She inhaled with precision.
Oh fuck, she could see his bare chest.
Abruptly, MJ lost ground on the confident who cares that youâre nude below thewaterline? thing, wimping out and turning her gaze decidedly downwards toher phone screen. She read the words âUrsa Minorâ a dozen times, but kept her back stiff like she was concentrating very hard, focusing on something desperately important.
It wasnât sustainable, this tense effort to ignore Peter. She couldnât do it at school when he was a dork in the marching band and shesure as hell couldnât do it when he was bare-ass naked in a lake. Being underthe broad, dark sky was suddenly claustrophobic. MJ couldnât breathe. Her facewas overly warm. She was going to be asphyxiated by her attraction to Peter.YES! FINE! She was attracted to him!
âUrsa Minor,â MJ mumbled to herself in the fanatical tone ofa madwoman. She was Mrs. Rochester on a beach. Now there was a woman who wouldâve been entertained by aconstellation-identifying app, stuck up in the attic all that time. God, MJ wasspiralling. BrontŃ was her crazy place.
âI know some stuff,â Peter said from the water.
She braced herself for the sight and, yep, there was his wetskin, just glistening away in the moonlight. How dare he.
âI could show you,â he said.
MJâs mind totally fuzzed on what Peter might be wanting toshow her. Lake Peter. After-dark Peter. Wet Peter. Her heart was bursting likea bagful of popcorn kernels, one eruption after the next.
âConstellations,â he explained, as though she hadnâtresponded because he hadnât been clear, rather than because sheâd gottensidetracked wondering about his sexual savoir-faire.
âHow are you going to show me? I wonât be able to tell whatyouâre pointing at.â
âI could come out⊠but Iâd wanna dry off before putting myclothes back on.â
âYeah, no,â she said immediately. âThereâs a time limit onhow long I can respectfully avert my eyes before I get bored standing there anddecide to walk back to camp.â
âYou could come in,â Peter replied quietly.
âIn⊠the water.â MJ shivered involuntarily.
âItâs not that cold, right?â
He pointed at where her feet were partially submerged. Shewanted to laugh if the water temperature was the reason he thought sheâdshivered. Was Peter just going to pretend that the biggest issue with hissuggestion was the possibility of her getting chilly?
âSo youâll be a gentleman while I get undressed?â
Instantly, he flushed and gestured before his words couldcatch up. Only he didnât say what MJ expected him to.
âThatâs not very fair.â
She gave him a stern look.
âWhy not? Sure, Iâve been sitting here with your clothes, but I didnât watch you remove them. I didnât stare at your naked body! Not mostof it,â she added under her breath, seeing as sheâd been eyeing him in thewater all this time.
Peter glanced down quickly, grinning like heâd heard whatsheâd said.
âIâll turn around,â he promised, glancing up withsuspiciously trustworthy eyes.
âNo.â
âNo?â he choked out.
âJust⊠cover your eyes,â she requested, getting to her feet.âThen Iâll be able to watch you and know you arenât somehow ogling myreflection.â
âWhat if I peeked through my fingers?â
MJ laughed because she knew Peter Parker would do no suchthing.
âThen your guilty expression would betray you the second youdropped your hands.â
He chuckled to himself.
âYeah, good point.â
âSo⊠cover âem, Peter.â
She saw his mouth fall open slightly.
âWeâre actuallyâŠâ
âWeâre actually,â MJ confirmed, grabbing the hem of hert-shirt. His eyes grew wider. âChill. Weâre just two nerds talking about astronomy.Itâs not a big deal.â
She began to draw her shirt up her stomach slowly, givinghim plenty of warning, and he slapped his hands over his eyes, splashinghimself with lake water. Pausing for nerves, MJ saw Peter shift to regain hisbalance after lifting his arms. The disturbance swished his wet cover to andfro and when it settled, she could see more of his chest. Plus all of hisarmsâraised as they were. Face hot, she wondered how long it would take to heata beach by starlight, if they could put a hold on the sun. Because the nightwouldnât last forever, MJ quickly yanked off her shirt and chucked it on top ofPeterâs clothes.
Her gaze slid intently from the heap to the boy in thewater. He was diligently blocking her out, palms flat over his eyes and fingersstretched up his forehead into the front of his hair. Although she couldnâttell right now, MJ knew it would curl aggressively as it dried, like it hadthis afternoon after everyone went for a dip together. She thought about it,thought about him, and stared straight at him too as she unbuttoned her shortsand shimmied her legs to shake them down to the sand.
Peterâs chest rose and fell as she watched, reacting tosomething. Mustâve been a ripple in the water, she figured. Something shecouldnât see from here.
âYou havenât asked,â MJ noted, unclipping her bra. Pile.
âW-what should I ask?â
âIf you can look yet. And I didnât say you should.â
There was a pause, thick like wet sand.
âYouâre surprised Iâm not more impatient? Do you want me tobe?â
Sheâd need sunscreen to protect the rest of her exposed skinfrom the way her face seemed to be glowing, ready to sear. How heâd flipped herremark around on her⊠MJ hadnât expected it. Another question heâd put to herbluntly that sounded so innocent. But it wasnât, not really. This wasnât themsussing out who wanted the last hamburger and was too afraid to be rude. Thiswas a more complicated politick of desire and it couldnât all be questions andevasions; eventually, there would need to be blunt answers for Peterâs bluntquestions.
âJust an observation,â MJ muttered.
She removed her underwear carefully, keeping them away fromthe sand by lifting her feet high and maneuvering the leg holes swiftly anddexterously around her heels to preclude transfer. All she left on was theelastic in her hair.
âIâm⊠Iâm coming into the water now.â
âI can hear you.â
Maybe her racing heart was drowning out the noise of herfeet, because all MJ heard were tinkling slaps, then gentle swooshing as thelake greeted her ankles, her shins, the tender backs of her knees. Peterrotated towards her as she got closer, she noticed, still covering his eyes.Wading past him, MJ flicked water at his headâa couple feet away when her armwas stretched all the way out to the side. They both laughed. She didnât stopmoving through the water until it came up just above her breasts when she wasstanding, wetting more of her skin as she sunk down.
Despite attempting to ease the tension (she felt it, he mustbe feeling it), MJâs heart was still banging hard enough that she expected tosee ripples racing away from her on the surface of the water. She glanced backat the beach, then at Peter. The air was still and the rest of the world seemedpeacefully distant, if not empty. She hopped from foot to foot on the sandylakebed, swaying pleasantly in a way that belied how uncontrolled she felt onthe inside, not just because of the weak current her motions were creating.
Peter dropped his hands and looked at her. MJ drew her armsinstinctively inward, treading water in front of her chest.
âI thought you would wait until I said you could open youreyes,â she told him, not actually upset.
âI figured youâd be⊠uh⊠covered by now.â He gestured at hershoulders, peeking above the surface like the curved backs of baby geese.âYouâre tall, but youâre not thattall.â
âYou figured oryou knew? Am I supposed to believe that you hadnât already calculated the depthof the water compared to my height, and considered the distance from the beach? The length of my stride, maybe?â
âI just didnât want to show off.â Peter shrugged, grinning alittle. âMake you feel vulnerable.â
âOh, you mean like I did to you,â MJ joked.
Incredible. All it took for them to have a non-abusiveconversation was less light and fewer clothes. (No clothes.) There werenât awealth of ways to replicate these conditions once they got home. There was onewayâone very specific wayâbut she hadto remember her own excuse for their behaviour: they were just two nerds with ashared interest in astronomy. Every step theyâd taken since sheâd descended tothe beach was motivated purely by logic.
Yeah, better not consider that intentional state of denialtoo closely.
âLetâs start easy,â Peter suggested.
He flowed towards herâsmoother than walking on land, thoughhe did that with a weird gracefulness tooâand MJâs heart flipped end over end.She looked at his face too long after heâd extended his arm, pointing above them.
âThe Little Dipper.â
âUrsa Minor,â she corrected. âYeah, Iâve pretty much gotthat one down.â
Peter appeared blue in this light. Blue and soft anddreamlike, like he was going to take her hand and fly her to Mermaid Lagoon.Wait, wrong Peter.
âWell⊠hmm.â
His concentration shifted upward, high above the both ofthem. MJâs remained fixed on his face and the way the moon and the lake ruledits bright places and its shadows; noticing him across a classroom or from theother end of the lunch table wasnât the same as performing a close study of hisprofile from less than three feet away. The definition of his jaw was asurprise, with his head tilted back. It trapped a shadow beneath it, like aledge. As MJ dragged her eyes slowly down, she tried to discern the exact spotat which that darkness dissolved into the light bouncing up off the water, making his throat pale and vampiric. Or maybe she was the vampire. She certainlywanted to bite down on his skin with her teeth.
MJ yanked the elastic from her hair and shook her head, trying to clear it. Unfortunately, it was as ineffective as shaking a snowglobe and expecting to see through it more easily. She was hazy with Peter, whowas pointing to Venus, checking to make sure MJ was staring at the correctdazzling speck.
âThat one?â she asked, squinting although the light sourcewas minute and far, far away. (God,she thought, donât say that out loud. Notafter you told Peter this wasnât about Star Wars.)
Peter angled his head in her direction, eyes still on thesky.
âNo, the bright one.â Absently, it looked like, he glancedfrom her to Venus, attempting to establish a guiding line he could point along.âDown a little⊠I think.â
âYou think?â
Honestly, MJ wasnât putting too much effort into findinganything. Her priorities had changed. There were so many fewer opportunities tobe alone with Peter than there were stars visible from the state of New York.
âJustâŠâ
Peter sighed and suddenly his hands came around from behindher, holding underneath her jaw like he was lifting a heavy chalice with bothhands. Like the Holy Grail or something. His thumbs pressed to its hinge, hisindex fingers resting against her cheeks. He directed her manually, helping herfind Venus. MJ was going to burn him. Her face was too hot.
âDo you see? Oh.â
He mustâve snapped out of his science-daze and realized howhe was touching her. How they never touched. They mightâve shaken hands once.(It was three timesâshe remembered.) Peterâs fingers sprang away from her skin,jack-in-the-box quick, but MJ grabbed his hands.
âI see,â she said, turning weightlessly in the water. Thewet ends of her hair stroked her back.
She let go of one of Peterâs hands and, miraculously, itlanded on the back of her neck. The pads of his fingers were pruney. The otherhand MJ kept, her arm crossing her body to maintain contact.
âIt is a bigdeal,â he told her. She vaguely recalled stating the opposite, lying. âIt is.â
Cautious, MJ leaned her upper body closer, led by her lips. Her gaze went from Peterâs mouth to his eyes, mouth to eyes, up and down, likeflipping a light switch on and off repeatedly. When her lips actually met his,it was strange. She was too aware of them, the texture. Then, MJ was aware ofherself, trembling. They broke the kiss.
Peter held her face again with both hands and she saw thathis expression was calm, the way that his eyelashes flapped lightly with hiseyelids half-lowered, brown eyes warm and deep, staring at her mouth. Beforeshe could take a breath or think anything through, she kissed him again, quickly.
Heat burned through her, a match dropped in a trail ofgasoline. MJ inhaled hard through her nose and pressed her mouth firmly toPeterâs as he slid his hand to the back of her neck; his thumb dug in next toher spine and it felt really good, like a massage.
Tentatively, their tongues touched and retreated. Then,Peter surged forward like he knew what he was doing and, hell, she wasconvinced, finding his shoulders and grabbing on. Having someoneâs tongue inher mouth was decidedly more thrilling in practice than in theory. MJ felt herhead tilting more to the side, rocking forward and back, as her lips moved withPeterâs.
While the sand dipped and swished under her curling toes, his desire was her solid ground.
The second time they paused to breathe, MJ noticed sheâdwrapped her arm over Peterâs shoulder, and that his hand had caressed downwardfrom her neck to her upper back.
âYou wanna get out?â he panted. In the moonlight, she wascaught up in counting the freckles on his nose; theyâd darkened and multipliedsince the decathlon team had arrived at the campground.
She could tell he was trying to figure out what the rightthing was, so that he could do it. Typical Peter.
âNo.â
He raised hopeful eyebrows and MJ felt shy. Not because theywere slowly circling, hands on each other in perfectly appropriate places(though on each otherâs naked bodies nonetheless), but because she was admitting, out loud, in one syllable, that she wanted him.
âI was right, wasnât I?â Peter checked, head inclinedtowards hers. âWaterâs not too cold.â
âYou better not be peeing, Parker,â MJ threatened.
When he laughed in surprise, she threw her other arm behindhis neck and pulled herself close to him with a smirk on her mouth.
The kiss was softer than sheâd intended. That was becauseher legs had rubbed against his underwater. It wasnât just their knees bumping, which had been likely enough as theyâd moved closer since they were bothcrouching slightly; the outer part of MJâs thigh brushed along the inside ofPeterâs. The side of her slim calf encountered the solid curve of muscle inhis. It woke things in her, like the first spark catching on a crumpled pieceof newspaper when Mr. Harrington finally got the campfire going after insistinghe didnât need a lighter (and being shocked and disappointed when Flash hadreadily produced one and offered it up to hurry the process).
MJ could tell Peter felt it tooânot just her leg, the awakening. Which was really asuper clichĂ©d and simplistic way to think about adolescent sexuality, particularly female sexuality, but yeah, it appeared that her relationship withher own passion was coming down to this. A moment with Peter Parker, floating between Venus and a shallow drop-off.
Peterâs hand swept down her back as he released a shakysigh; MJ felt as though she was waking up to find herself shuffling onto hislap, lifting her legs with sleepy slowness to hook them over his. They sanklower into the water together, chins briefly dipped.
âHey, MJ,â he murmured.
She bit her lip.
âPeter,â she acknowledged.
This kiss was gentle on purpose, exploratory and calm enoughto slide through the surface of their pooled attraction without a ripple. Itdidnât stir up anything more frantic, as her lips compressed steadily to his.Peterâs hand was secure on the small of her back, her arms loosely around hisshoulders. Their warm exhalations left the mildest currents in the air betweenthem.
He began to play absently with her hair, collecting it witha hand that skimmed behind her shoulders, then closed in a circle like a slackelastic. MJ smiled against his mouth and felt the little dimples of muscle inhis back when he moved his arm. Their tongues met again, but it was easy and incontrol. She thought about bobbing there all night with him and creeping totheir tents when the sky turned a thin, pale grey.
Then Peter had to go and shift his hand, allowing cool waterto touch the spot his palm had warmed on her lower back. Making her shiver.
MJ hadnât known that about him, that such a tiny reactionwould cause him to respond like itâd been a seismic tremor, like sheâd shakenthe ground beneath his feet, but when she moved, he moved. His mouth surgedagainst hers and he gathered her so close that her stomach was pressed upagainst his erectionâher stomach and lower, legs splayed on his lap.
It was as sudden as an undertow and, fittingly, she didnâtknow which way was up. This, this had been lurking all that time sheâd spentwatching Peter, this had been waiting for her while she was waiting for him. MJclung to it now (and to him) and couldnât believe sheâd spared him even onesecond to point at the sky. He wanted to show her Venus? Too late. Sheâd foundit for herself and, yeah, maybe it was more a Venus of the Greek goddessvariety, but Peter didnât seem to be having any issue with that.
There was a wetness between them that wasnât just the lake.Though the water worked against it, Peter and MJâforeheads bumping lightly asthey closed their eyes and breathed hardâkept replenishing it, bodies grindingtogether out of sight below the dark, glassy surface. Her calves were tense asshe hung on to him.
All the external rubbing made MJâs insides feel electric;maybe she was lighting up like a jellyfish, sonic blue. It certainly seemed toshock him when she drew in a demanding, shuddering breath and climaxed, handsclenching to fists behind his back, nails catching his skin.
âOh my god,â he said, and she opened her eyes to thepleading scrunch of his forehead. A pair of eyes like lucky pennies in afountain. âIs it ok if IâŠ?â
MJ smiled in satiated amusement and rocked her hips. Themotion urged an oversensitive wiggle out of her, until Peterâs hands held herfast, hugging her body to his. As his hips bucked, she instinctively nuzzledthe side of her face into his and scooped up a handful of water. He groaned hername and she felt immortal.
Lifting her hand, she slowly tipped the water out onto theback of Peterâs head. It rewet his hair and trickled along the back of hisneck. MJ parted her arms to give it a path between his shoulder blades and inthe meantime, Peter came. When his chin tucked over her shoulder, something hither hard in the heart. She hugged him back fiercely.
And they floated.
In the end, MJ got out first while Peter sat with his backto her in the shallow water, arms on his bent knees. She threw on her clotheswith her skin still wet (camp and the chance for a hot shower followed by dry pajamaswere close), then he did the same while she faced their lake.
Their hands had never touched each other anywhere beyondthose appropriate places, but their fingers linked as they climbed the dunesand they shared a shy, silent look over that little intimacy.

Zero (Sweet Pea x POC Reader)
Pairing: Sweet Pea x POC Reader
Warning(s): fluff, self image struggles, cursing, a lot of goofy ass nicknames
Summary: Reader is a River Vixen flunking Trig and a certain Southside Serpent so happens to acing that class.
A/N: Season 2 is my fav. Even tho 1 has a better plot. This takes place right after the transfer when tensions were still high. I was feelincrumby about sucking @ Cal 2 so I wrote this. I'm a big fan of the tutoring in secret thing. But this time Pea's the tutor. This is just part 1 I'll be updating soon.
The swish of stapled papers across desks echoes around the silent Advanced Trig classroom as Mr.Larings comes down your row. He offers disappointed huffs and sighs to each student he passes. Simple affirmation the class has seen better days.
âI warned you guys this test was a real doozy.â He says doing his best to lighten the sober room. Â He really didn't have the whole âI love to fail kidsâ math teacher vibe.
Mr.Larings is a stickler for the rules, but he's also the kind of teacher to hand out cookies when the class has a B average.
You flinch back as you lay eyes on the paper in front of you. Â The bright fluorescent lighting illuminates the red ink sparkling like stars that your sad excuse for a test. Â Â
âI expect more from a River Vixen, Ms.L/n.â Mr.Larings says shaking his head.
He turns to  the dark haired guy in the desk across from you. The large broad shouldered boy has a harsh half sleep look on his face.
âGood work.â Mr.Larings hums handing him a paper with a near perfect score written in green. Â
He sits up and just nods folding his paper in half as the math teacher heads to the front of the class.
Your mouth falls wide open as you stare in awe. This Southside Serpent has been taking this class less than two weeks nearing the end of the 2nd term and he just aced the hardest test you've had all year. And he sleeps half the time. Â
Holy shit I might be dumber than I thought.
âIf you're wondering how to breathe you exhale next, Pep Squad.â The dark eyed gangster sneers at you as the bell rings.
You let your embarrassment fade into irritation as you gather you bag with a huff and head for the door.
âMs.L/n. A word?â The middle aged man sighs motioning you toward his desk just as you make it to door. The southsider steps around gasping with a childish grin on his face as he steps into the hallway.
âMr.Larings I've got vixen practice and Cheryl will kill me if I'm late ag-â Â You swallow the rest of your sentence when he gives a stern look over his glasses.
âI suggest look into a tutor. If you fail this next test I'll be forced to recommend you are suspended from the squad.â He says regretfully shrugging his shoulders.
âBububbbbuubuubut?â You mutter as the horror of losing your spot on the Vixens really sinks in as he ushers you out the classroom door.
Sure this math class has been kicking your ass but it couldn't have been that bad.
Could it?
You've never flunked a class in your life let alone get kicked off the squad for it. You'd be a total laughing stalk of Riverdale High.
God, my parents will kill me if they ever find out. Â
âŠ
You rub the soreness from the back of your neck as you walk out the locker room trying to burns holes through the tile with your e/c irises. The next test is in a few weeks and you need a tutor if you are going to come anywhere near passing.
Who could do it?
Cheryl's a math whiz, but she runs the squad.
I'd never hear the end of it.
Ronnie and Betty are out.
On the squad too.
Archie's no good unless it's music or punching and tells Ronnie everything.
Jug's more of English ner-
You collide with what has to be no less than a brick wall. Either that or a small freight train. You determine this by landing firmly on your already sore butt with an 'umphâ. A quiet snicker from above disproves both hypotheses.
âWatch Where The F-â You pause as you lay eyes on the closet math geek himself offering a hand with a peeved expression settling on to his face.
âYou ran into me, Sis-boom-bah!â He groans impatiently.
Every nasty rumor about the Southside plays though your head as you swallow your insult.
How they're the ones going around pulling knives on people. Â
Or how they're the ones selling and making the drugs.
Or how they're the ones that bring all the crime to this side of town.
Or how they're the ones that teach their kids to rob you blind before they're out of diapers.
Ok that last one is just ridiculous. Â
Not that you really believed that stuff, but it just kinda came to mind.
Small town gossips just tends to linger.
Like all of sudden you needed more of a reason to be wary of 6â4â guy drenched in sweat in a dimly lit hallway.
And now it's written all over your face.
âHold your applause a Southside Serpent is gonna help you up, and you can bet your short short covered ass I've got better things to do than have you stare at me like I'm gonna kill you.â He huffs stretching his arm a little further.
âLike I'm scared of you, Jockstrap!â You scoff scrunching up your face as you take his hand as he pulls you to your feet with little to no effort. Like you weighed nothing.
His hands are surprisingly warm and soft but have the slightest worked in roughness.
You reluctantly snatch your hand back in order to save your dwindling pride.
âCould've fooled me, Spirit Fingers.â He deadpans drily waving his hands as he rolls his dark eyes and steps around you to make his way down the corridor.
âIn your dreams, Corleone-wannabe.â You snort heading in the opposite direction.
You could have sworn you heard the faintest laughter from the intimidating teen as you head to the parking lot.
âŠ
The full coverage concealer is put to the test of a lifetime as it attempts to hide the heavy bags left under your eyes left from the all nighter you pulled to take on your Trig homework. And you still barely finished problem 1.
Your usual preppy look is replaced with a loose NASA tee and some comfy bleached out ripped jeans and your favorite f/c sneakers. Your messy curls are up in two loose puffs and your ears are sporting some wacky dangly planet earrings.
You snatch the circle lensed shades from your dashboard as you stumble out of your truck. forgetting there's a step between the door and the ground. You fall forward into the parking lot pavement only for a strong warm hand to catch your wrist just before impact. Â
âJesus, Poms Poms, it's a little early for a death drop face first isn't?â Your brave Serpent rescuer snarks sounding a little out of breath.
Did he run over here?
âYea well, it's a little early for witty banter too, Harley Davidson.â You huff twirling to face your knight in checkered flannel.
âNice to see you're ungrateful all times of day, Teen Spirit.â He hums arms crossed with a slight grin on his face.
âYou know I have an actual name, Black Parade. It's Y/n L/n.â You smirk mirroring him. A playfulness creeping behind your eyes.
âWell Y/n, I think you forgot to say âThanks Sweet Pea for not letting me faceplant on the pavementâ.â He smiles gesturing for you to speak. You snort as you make no effort to stifle laughter that bubbles up as you hear what supposed to be his name.
âCome on, Fight Club, Seriously is that the best you come up with?!? That's just ridiculous, Sweet Pea!?!? What's it really?!?â You manage to sputter between laughs wiping a tear from your eye.
His warm smile falls. He stiffens and fixes you with a bone chilling glare as he squares his shoulders. You back into your truck door as your laughs turn into coughs. Â You can feel a burning heat crawls across your brown cheeks.
âI meant uh thanks, Sweet Pea.â You smile forcing yourself to stand straight and look him in the eyes. Â
âThere you go again looking at me like I'm gonna bite your head off.â He sighs rolling his eyes as he walks toward the front doors.
âGimme a break, between inverses and memorizing the unit circle I barely got an hour of sleep last night. I really need a tutor.â You say sprinting a little to catch up with his long strides. He could easily out pace you, but he slows to match your steps.
âAre you asking me to tutor you? Also we're on Pythagorean identities.â He corrects giving you a concerned but amused look as he swings open the door.
Your eyes widen as you realize what you said.
You have just given a serpent all he would need to screw you over. Not to mention he doesn't particularly like you.
Oh my God, Nevermind I'm definitely dumber than I thought. Â Who casually tells a hot stranger that theyâre flunking math.
You facepalm.
Wait 'hot strangerâ?
âNo no no I just...I was uh a ...just umm-â You swallow your muddled explanation as you spot Veronica and Betty walking down the hall in your direction. You latch onto Sweet Pea's toned arm and manage to drag him into a side hallway out of sight. You make sure to hide yourself behind his broad frame just in case.
âL/n you're batshit. You know that?â He laughs watching you spazz out.
You place both hands on your hips and fix him with your iciest glare yet. You find yourself staring straight at his chest. You shift your gaze to his eyes without a crack in his resolve.
âGet this straight, Beanstalk. I need your help, but can't tell another living soul what you're helping me with! It would end me! Not any of your friends. Not any of mine. Not the team. Not the squad. No One At All.â You hiss.
âYou know, Bring It On, even though it's âsuper sexyâ being dragged off into secluded parts of the school with you against my will you're not in the position to be making demands. I haven't even agreed to tutor you let alone named my price. Just so you know outting some demanding northsider brat about failing math isn't even a page in my burn book.â He smirks down at you as your hot air goes cold and your confidence crumbles.
âSweet Pea... will you tutor me?â You whisper staring at your sneakers and kicking at the tile. Â Â
âDidn't quite catch that.â He says straight faced leaning in with a hand cupped around his ear inches away from you.
âJust tutor me...please... I can't flunk this class . I'll do anything.â You huff wrinkling your face in defeat and disgust at being reduced to begging.
He backs away smiling with from ear to ear as he walks to the corner of the small breezeway.
âI've got a free period at 3rd block. I could look at what I'm working with at the back of the library. And after I access the damage then I'll let you know what my precious time is worth.â Sweet Pea shrugs dragging a hand across the nape of his neck and drawing your attention to dull ink on the right side of it. The black snake catches your attention for the very first time. Your teeth easily find your bottom lip and pull themselves across.
âYea yea that works for me.â You say as you brush pass him shaking any kind attraction from your thoughts and sashaying out into the hallway.

Spanish panic (p.p.)
Summary: Spanish classes can get tough but nothing is worse than having a panic attack at a school bathroom.Â
Authorâs Note: I had this idea running through my head for a while. Itâs just a one-shot to get these thoughts out of my head. If you have any ideas that are bothering you and youâd like a fanfic made out of them feel free to send it my way!Â
Warnings: Panic attack and Endgame spoilers
Song inspiration: Burn It Down - Daughter (this song is honestly post-Endgame Peter Parker I donât take criticism) also if you want to you can listen to Neptune by Sleeping At Last that one goes well with it too
Masterlist
The class was filled with nervous whispering and (Y/N)âs tapping. In the presence of the two classmates next to her - Nancy and Wendy - any concentration wasnât possible.Â
âChill out.â Betty was typing something on her laptop while (Y/N) stared in her notes.Â
âIf señora Diosa gives us the test Iâm screwed!â she skimmed through her scribbled notes.Â
Betty rolled her eyes âWe havenât been in Spanish class for literally five years. There is no way señora Diosa remembers we were supposed to have a test! She didnât blip!âÂ
âIâm telling you this old crone is going to remember!â (Y/N) put her hair behind her ear as she shook with nervousness âGod how I hate the high heels she wears. You can hear her from miles! Click, clack, clickity, clack.âÂ
Betty giggled âIf she still wears them...â
âBut itâs totally crazy!â Nancy whispered as quietly as if Wendy was an old deaf woman âItâs space! Itâs infinite! Thereâs no way anyone could get back to Earth. Iâve read a few articles from different University professors who calculated the exact chance Tony Stark had to get back. It was practically zero! Not even he could have solved something like this!! There has to be something bigger behind it!âÂ
Wendy was on the edge of her seat fiercely nodding âIâve heard that they want to make a documentary about him. Mr. Sommers said that every school is going to make their students watch it when it comes out. And weâll probably be watching it for the anniversary of the day everyone was brought back. Thatâs cool right?â
âSomebody should teach them how to whisper.â Betty grumbled and typed louder on her keyboard.
(Y/N) noticed that she didnât like to talk about the tragedy which affected the whole world. She was always quite pale but whenever Thanos was mentioned she seemed almost translucent.Â
âHow do you say small in Spanish? How would you say it!?â (Y/N) quickly browsed between three pages of notes.Â
âTry asking him.âÂ
Peter sat right in front of them. He was silent and stiff the whole time which wasnât like him at all. (Y/N) barely spoke to him since they blipped back. Heâd go home immediately after school or disappeared somewhere with Ned.Â
âOh, mighty overlord of Spanish!â (Y/N) kicked Peterâs chair âWould you be so kind and share with me your wisdom? How would you transcribe the Spanish word for-âÂ
Peterâs chair rumbled as he stood up and stumbled out of the classroom leaving with heavy breaths. All his stuff was still on the table which was weird. If he wanted to skip this class (like he used to) why wouldnât he take it?Â
âDid I do something wrong?â (Y/N)âs voice cut through the silence. She didnât even realize everyone's attention was on Peter as well.Â
It only took a few seconds before she got up and ran after him. Any stress from the test was replaced by worry for Peter. She saw him disappear to the boy's bathroom. She stood facing the door and considered if she should knock, barge in or just wait for him in the hallway.Â
But before she could decide she heard a familiar click, clack, clickity, clack. Señora Diosa was rushing to class. (Y/N) knew that if her teacher saw her here sheâd get in serious trouble because how do you say âI think I pissed my friend off so much that he ran to the boyâs bathroom and I need to make sure heâs fineâ in Spanish?Â
Before she could think it through her hands were pushing on the door, her eyes firmly shut. This tactic didnât work for long though because the moment she heard heavy breaths her curiosity couldnât be stopped.Â
In the corner of the room next to the sink was Peter sat, shaking, with his head between his knees. The screen of his phone was lit up next to him.Â
âPeter?â (Y/N) slowly stepped closer, all the shame of being in a boy's bathroom has already left her.
She kneeled next to him, her eyes set on his phone. First thing that went through her head was âWhat if something happened to his aunt?â
But his phone was ringing. And the name of the person who Peter tried to call was âTony Starkâ.Â
Of course... Why didnât she think of that earlier? People all around the world were shocked by Tony Starkâs heroic death but (Y/N) didnât realize Peter knew him personally. He constantly spoke about him being his mentor and role-model. Peter probably didnât get a chance to say goodbye to him. And now he was gone.
(Y/N) quickly canceled the call and locked his phone âPeter...â she cautiously touched his shoulder hoping human contact would provide some support.Â
His head jerked up as if she still startled him. He didnât even know that somebody was in the room with him. Tears as big as peas were running down his cheeks.Â
âItâs okay. Everythingâs going to be alright.â she gently rubbed his arm âCan you hear me?â she lowered her head to look him in the eyes.Â
Peter wiped his nose on his sleeve, eyelids shuddering as he nodded âCan you speak?â (Y/N) whispered.
Peter took a shaky breath, his mouth was dry and instead of words coming out of it he painfully exhaled. His forehead glistened with cold sweat while white spots danced in front of his eyes. He wrapped his hands around her waist as a heartwrenching sob left his throat.Â
(Y/N) moved closer, hoping his firm grip would loosen. She felt his tears seep through her shirt. He was trying to say something but (Y/N) couldnât understand his mumbling.Â
âShhhh... Iâm here... Iâm here with you.â she stroked his head and pulled one of his hands to her heart. Her other hand snaked around to touch his neck which was covered in goosebumps âCan you look at me Peter?âÂ
His eyelids were heavy but somehow he managed to raise his head enough to look at her even when everything was blurry or covered by spots that seemingly werenât about to fade.Â
âI want you to try and concentrate on my breathing yeah? Weâre gonna breathe together alright? Youâre going to be okay again I promise just breathe with me.â She watched him close his eyes and nod.Â
âAlright. Breathe in...â her chest rose in a large breath so that Peter could feel it as well âAnd breathe out...âÂ
Peterâs lips trembled through the first three tries and he could only listen to the calming breaths and heartbeats as he held onto her like his life depended on it.Â
When his breathing slightly stabilized (Y/N) spoke again âCan you tell me three things you see around you?âÂ
âYou...â he swallowed hard, fiddling with her shirt âSoaked up napkin...â (Y/N) turned around to make sure it was actually there âBathroom stall door...âÂ
âGood... Good... Just keep breathing... Youâre safe. Nothingâs gonna happen to you I swear.â she pushed the curls that stuck to his sweaty forehead away from his face âYouâre burning up...âÂ
(Y/N) automatically fumbled in the back pocket of her jeans where she kept a tissue since she was known for her bleeding nose at any circumstance. Explaining why thereâs smeared blood next to her answer on a test got pretty tiring real quick.Â
âIâll be right back,â she tried to pull his hand away âIâm gonna wet the tissue okay?â when he didnât respond she tried again âPeter?â
His eyes were shut but he slowly nodded, rubbing his face with shaky hands as he leaned on the tiles. When she kneeled next to him his breathes were shaky and irregular again.Â
âIâm going to put a cold tissue on your forehead now. Iâll wipe it on your hand first so you can feel it.â after wiping it on his hand she slowly pressed it to his forehead. (Y/N) sat next to him, holding one of his hands in hers so he could still feel her presence if his vision betrayed him.Â
Water dribbled from the tap for a long time before Peter spoke âI... I didnât save him.âÂ
(Y/N) pulled her knees away from her face and stared in his. It wasnât hard to guess who was in question âPeter...â she ran over his hand âIt wasnât your fault you...â she intertwined their fingers thinking twice what to say next âYou couldnât have saved him.âÂ
Peter stared ahead, sings of doubt if he should tell (Y/N) the truth showed in his eyes âI could have..â his voice trembled and before he could stop himself the whole truth came out of his mouth along with tears which he wasnât fast enough to wipe away.Â
