First Meetings 1/3
Summary: How Jimmy met Grian and Joel.
Warnings: anxiety, being/feeling trapped, and hunger pains
Word Count: 2295
AO3 Link
It's finally time! Let's see how Jimmy met Grian and Joel in the BBBCAU!
This is gonna be a slightly longer story, which is why I'm splitting it up into three parts! I'm still working on part 2 though so it might be a few days until the next chapter. It took me a while to figure out how I wanted their first meeting to go but I think I'm quite happy with what I've come up with! So I hope you guys enjoy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jimmy opened his wall entrance slowly, peeking out and taking a look around. His entrance was hidden behind one of the humans’ desks, so he was safe to check and make sure there were no humans in the room.
Once he deemed the room empty, he came out of the walls fully and prepared for a quick raid of the dorm room. It had only been a week since classes had started up again, which meant things were still a mess in a lot of the dorm rooms. Especially the ones used by freshmen. Humans who were fresh to college, still learning and getting all of their stuff together. These were the rooms where Jimmy found the most things and he was always excited about what kinds of things he would find.
He adjusted the strap of his bag as he came out into the open, glancing warily at the door for a brief moment. He should be fine, it was still early enough that if the humans weren’t here, then they were still in class. He should have plenty of time to borrow and then get out.
Confident in his reasoning, Jimmy’s gaze left the door and wandered around the room. There were some clothes strewn about but with them on the floor like this, Jimmy stayed away from them. He couldn’t be sure if they were dirty or clean and he would rather be safe than sorry. Besides, humans usually noticed when clothes went missing. Jimmy really only felt comfortable taking clothes if they were already lost.
That’s how he had gotten his current bed, a sock that had fallen between the bed and the wall as the human was trying to fold their laundry. They never noticed it missing and so Jimmy had dragged it through the walls and back to his home. That had been years ago now, and the sock had been good to him.
It didn’t look like he was going to get anything like that out of this room though. He’d probably do well to focus on getting some food. He was running really low, so some crumbs, maybe a full chip if he could manage it, would be great.
So Jimmy walked around the room, looking behind the piles of clothes and underneath the nightstands for any food that would have dropped. So far, there wasn’t anything but Jimmy still had a lot of the room to go. He headed over to the opposite desk, heading underneath to see if any crumbs had gotten stuck in the carpet. The desks and beds, both under and on top, were most likely to have food, since that’s were he noticed the humans eating the most.
But as he made it to the desk, there was a sound that made Jimmy’s blood run cold. The jingling of keys and the turning of a knob. Wasting no time, Jimmy ran the rest of the way underneath the desk and hid himself behind one of the far legs. Just in time too, because as he settled the door fully opened, revealing two humans. They were just legs to Jimmy from this angle but that did nothing to lessen his fear.
“--try to finish it all tonight.” One of the humans spoke, in the middle of talking already as they had entered the room.
“How much did you get? Aren’t you only taking three classes this first semester?” The other one asked. Jimmy tried to peek out more, to try and get a better look at the humans in order to see what they were doing. He wasn’t afraid of being seen from here, he knew humans barely ever looked down, let alone in the corners and underneath their own desks.
The human who had just spoken was wearing a red sweater and just threw his backpack underneath his desk. Jimmy winced a bit and then was thankful when the other human, one who appeared to have a green streak in his hair, placed his backpack at the edge of his bed.
“Yeah, and two of them aren’t super homework heavy. But my other class definitely makes up for that.” The green-streaked human said, letting out a sigh. “I want my weekend free though, so if I focus I can probably get it done before dinner.”
The red wearing human hummed and Jimmy watched him nod. “Yeah, I’ll probably do the same. I’ve got no more classes today either and having the weekend off sounds great.”
Jimmy bit his lip. That did not sound good. Both humans seemed to plan on staying in the rest of the day and since Jimmy’s exit was currently on the other side of the room, he had no choice but to wait. Hopefully they would both leave for lunch or dinner. Otherwise he had to wait until they both fell asleep.
And knowing college students, that could be a while.
Jimmy sighed and started to settle into his spot, only to jump and just barely hold back a yelp as the chair in front of him got pulled out. Jimmy slammed a hand over his mouth and pressed himself back into the wall. The human was just taking a seat but the suddenness of it had caused Jimmy’s heart rate to spike.
The human pulled himself forward but Jimmy was still far back enough that he was still at least a foot away from the human. Still, he was no longer comfortable staying here to hide. One wrong swing of the human’s foot and he was as good as dead. Or caught. Either one was very bad.
Thankfully, the desk was pushed right up next to the bed and so Jimmy shimmied along the wall until he was out from the desk and hidden under the darkness of the bed instead. Jimmy let out a little sigh of relief, no longer feeling cramped from having the human so close.
He stayed by the wall and took a seat, leaning against it. Might as well get himself comfortable with how long he would have to wait. He ducked his head a little and watched as the other human’s feet disappeared, probably getting into his bed to do his homework there. Both backpacks were still where they had left them, so Jimmy could only assume they were doing their homework on laptops.
“Alright, let’s get this done.” The human with the green-streak said. He heard the other human hum and then the air was filled with sounds of typing and clicking.
Jimmy sighed and waited.
***
Nothing interesting had happened and no opportunity for escape had presented itself throughout the rest of the day. Grian and Joel (he had learned their names as he sat there waiting) had continued to talk with one another as they worked on their homework. He had perked up when they had talked about getting something to eat but was disappointed when only Grian left to go pick something up for them.
As the humans ate their food, Jimmy’s stomach growled, reminding him that he hadn’t eaten since early that morning. He pushed the feeling away though. Even if the humans made some mess and dropped something, he couldn’t go get it right now. Not without being seen.
He settled back in as they had continued to work, until finally, after many hours, Joel let out a short exclamation. “Done! Finally.” He heard Joel close his laptop and the human leaned back in his chair, stretching. His feet hit the back wall and Jimmy was glad he had moved.
Joel pushed the chair back and stood up, stretching again once he was standing. He heard Grian chuckle. “It’s about time. I’ve been done for an hour now.”
“Oh good for you.” Joel said, his voice taking a mocking tone. Grian laughed.
Jimmy placed his head in one hand, leaning against it as he watched (though all he could see were Joel’s legs at the moment) and listened. These humans were interesting, that was for sure. He hadn’t been as bored as he could have been, listening to them talk and go back and forth with one another.
But even so, no matter how interesting a pair of humans appeared to be, he would much rather be back in the walls and away from the threat of being caught. He didn’t expect to be seen, he was careful and in a spot a human wouldn’t look in, but the longer he stayed the more his anxiety began to grow.
Unfortunately, it looked like he would have to wait longer. “Want to celebrate with a movie night? I’ve got some popcorn in my bag.” Grian said and Jimmy barely heard Joel’s reply of yes as he sighed in frustration. He knew this would be a possibility though. From his time in the dorms and watching many college students, he knew they tended to stay up way later than they probably should. It was one of the things that made borrowing here hard, which was why Jimmy tended to go out and borrow while the humans were in class rather than at night.
He heard them shuffling around, talking as they got the movie set up. The smell of popcorn filled the air and once again Jimmy’s stomach reminded him how long he had gone without food. And once again, he pushed it back down.
The two humans settled into bed and the sounds of the movie began to play. Jimmy leaned his head back against the wall and closed his eyes, listening to the sounds of the movie and imagining what could be happening on the screen. Despite his want to get out of there, it was kind of nice. He had never been this close to actually watching a movie before. It sounded fun.
Eventually, the movie ended and the humans went to their own beds. The lights turned off and he heard the shuffling of blankets but Jimmy still waited. After maybe another hour or so, Jimmy finally felt confident enough to try and make his way back to his entrance into the walls.
He stopped short of the edge of the bed, looking up and at Grian, since he was currently the only human he could see. His eyes were closed and his breathing was even. He was definitely asleep.
He then stuck close to the nightstand and rounded the corner in order to peek up and look at Joel. He was the same, steady breathing and closed eyes. Jimmy let out a little sigh of relief. He wasted no time in running back across the room, back to Grian’s desk where his entrance was located.
Jimmy grinned, relieved he would finally be able to get back home. Grian’s backpack was still there but he went to the side of it to get to his exit. His smile turned into a frown, however, when he realized the bag was too close to the wall in order for him to get through. “No…” Jimmy let out a little noise of frustration, going over to the other side of the bag to see if it was any different over there.
It wasn’t.
The bag was too full, making it a heavy roadblock. Meaning, despite how small Jimmy was, he couldn’t push his way behind the bag. He tried, he really did, but it didn’t so much as budge and Jimmy quickly got scared at how much weight it held. He backed away, wondering what he was going to do now.
This entrance was the only one he had in this room and going out into the hallway was definitely not a good idea. It didn’t matter how late it was, there was always a chance some human would be walking down the hall and then Jimmy would be as good as caught.
No, he was well and truly trapped within this room.
But that was fine. He would just wait until tomorrow. Grian would pick up his backpack to go to class and then there wouldn’t be…a…problem…
Wait, today was Friday, wasn’t it? Friday was the last day of the week for classes. He knew that and Grian and Joel had just been talking about it earlier too. Tomorrow was the weekend and both humans had already completed their homework. Which meant…
Which meant there was no reason for Grian to pick up and move his bag for at least another two full days.
Jimmy leaned against the wall, slowly sliding down it until he was sitting against it. He threw his head back and let out a quiet noise of frustration and worry. He was trapped in this room for the rest of the weekend at least.
Honestly, he felt like crying a little.
He shook the feelings away though. Crying wouldn’t help him.
He stood up and went underneath Grian’s bed. He didn’t want to stay underneath the desk, just in case Grian did need his backpack before the weekend was over but staying underneath his bed at least left him on the right side of the room. Once the bag was lifted and the humans’ backs were turned, he could take the opportunity to get back into the walls.
For now though, he let himself lay down, using his bag as a makeshift pillow as he tried to get some sleep. He wasn’t sure he would be able to, but he at least had to try. Just because he was trapped in this room, his anxiety growing more and more at the thought, didn’t mean he could forgo his rest. He needed it more than ever in this situation anyway.
He closed his eyes and tried to ignore the way he could hear the humans’ breathing and shifting.
Eventually, he did fall asleep.

Part One of "August" [Release Date: 8/11/2023]
Part Two of "August" [Release Date: 8/13/2023]
YEARBOOK - SLEEPING AT LAST WRITING CHALLENGE MASTERLIST
----------------------
I knew that staying home while Karen was off on tour was going to be lonely.
Lonelier than ever before.
Karen being on tour was not a new thing for me. It sometimes felt like she was running from tour to tour while sometimes dropping into bed next to me while she did her laundry. I usually pushed it all away. Being with her was enough.
But now, things were different.
During her last break, Karen and I had finally taken a step forward and found a home together.
It was perfect. It had enough room for us to live, room for her to work on her music, room for me to work on my designs, room for friends to visit. It was a lovely place. One that we had dedicated a lot of turning into a home over that break.
But there was one problem with having all of that space and putting all of that work in... it hurt even more when I was the only one there to enjoy it.
I had no problem with Karen's work. She was happy. Doing exactly what she loved. That's all I wanted for her. However, I would be damned if I tried to claim that I didn't miss having her around throughout the day.
But that may have only made it feel so much better when she came back home.
I had spent all day making sure that everything was just as it was meant to be. I had made dinner and cleaned. I had specifically ensured that I took most of the day off so I could make sure that it was all perfect.
I was just coming back downstairs after showering when I heard the sound of a car outside. I ran out without another thought. Karen was just setting her bags down as I got out there.
"Hey- oh my god!" her greeting was cut off by me almost tackling her with a hug.
"God, I've missed you," I muttered into her ear.
"I've missed you too," she replied, still chuckling at my excitement from a moment ago. "Should we head inside or are we standing in the yard forever?"
"Absolutely, come on," I grabbed some of her stuff and started walking inside as quickly as possible.
After getting her bags put in the bedroom, I let Karen get herself situated while I went to set the table.
I felt like I was buzzing. It had been far too long since we had been lucky enough to share dinner together. It already felt like a miracle to not need to be sitting on the couch with the phone in my hand. Being able to sit at the same table at the same time was just the icing on the cake.
I was just turning around from putting down some glasses when I spotted Karen standing in the doorway.
I jumped a bit. "When did you start moving silently?"
"Sorry," she chuckled. I noticed that her eyes almost looked far away.
"You alright," I asked.
She hummed. "Yeah, yeah, fine. It's just..."
"Just... what?"
"I really like this," she explained. "Seeing you here... in our house. It's just... It feels right."
I set the glasses down and walked over to her. I pressed my lips to hers. Her hands touched my sides and pulled me closer.
I pulled away slowly, staying as close as I could without not being able to talk.
"I love you," I muttered.
I felt a circle being drawn on my side by her thumb. "I love you too."
I let out a quiet, relaxed sigh as I closed my eyes for a moment.
This was everything I wanted. To have these moments of love and care and just... perfection.
If it took those moments of loneliness in order to have these loving moments, then I would happily pay that price.

It was a pretty good day. I've been avoiding writing this for about an hour because I felt very bad I was waiting for my pain medication to kick in. I was in so much pain tonight that I was nauseous. Not fun!
But today was still good. I slept okay. I woke up before my alarm clock and got up after a few minutes. I got dressed in a cup okay. It was very rainy out today though and I didn't know what to wear. One of my yoga shorts are missing so I didn't have any clean ones. So I wore long leggings since it was raining it was a whole thing.
I headed out and got to the museum early so I can get my breakfast. I know I shouldn't do that everyday but I don't have any eggs in my house and I'm trying not to buy too much groceries because I'm moving into James's Place very soon and I don't want to have to move a bunch of stuff. I have some stuff here but not enough. But I ended up running into backup and we walked in the museum together.
The museum was really exciting today because me and Megan were setting up the needles project. Where we sow. 30 kids is too many but we worked it out. When we first got in the room I heard water. And it was raining and gross out but there's no windows in that room and we look over at the ceiling had caved in and a place. The fan was on it was shooting water that was pouring from the ceiling all over the place. It was very upsetting. It was like a waterfall was coming into the room. But we told the people we could and then we kept setting up. We still ran the program in that room. And it went well. The group's came a little bit too early. It turned out one of the teachers I work with at the science center so that was cool. But we got them started on time and me and Alexis did the sewing half and Megan did The Cutting and patterns and everything's half. It went really well. It did not go well at first some of my kids that were selling. One of the kids was very upset because he was confused. But once I stopped and was able to help him. Which was very hard because I had 20 kids sewing at once. He ended up making more than anyone else. It's very proud of him. And I tried to make sure he understood that. That he was frustrated at first and wanted to give up but he made it through and he did so well.
I was a little annoyed once the program is over because all of a sudden I was the only one in the room putting everything away. I understood why Megan left because she was taking the kids to the scavenger hunt. But Alexis was supposed to be shadowing me and then all of a sudden she was gone. It turned out that there was something that she had to run out of Museum because she got a phone call and it was a whole thing but I felt very abandoned. Brandon ended up coming back and helping me carry the chairs. Which is the part I didn't want to have to do because it's unwieldy. But it's all good.
We had a quick break and then I went to go with Caitlin to watch the lights on program. It was only nine kids and they were so sweet. Basically the program is that making a light bright. And Kaitlin loves the long Furby. She thinks they're the funniest thing. So I made a example Lite-Brite that was a long Furby for her. And she was very excited. Trying to explain to the kids what it was was a whole another thing but it was still a good time. And I like the program though I don't quite understand why it's an hour and a half. That's all right. I would like to see it I think one more time before I do it but if they had to have me do it tomorrow I'd be fine.
We have an hour supplies. Which is just kind of doing things around the museum that need to get done and setting up for programs for other days. And then me, Kaitlyn, and Becca went up to the offices to make copies. We did folding and cutting and all of the things that went along with that.
and that took a lot of time so by the time we got downstairs and got everything put away it was time to go. It was fun hanging Out with them though. But I was excited to have the rest of the day to myself. I realized somewhere in the morning that I didn't have to run out of there and go to another job and I was shocked. The first time in a long time. Honestly I think since last summer. So that was cool.
I went over to the shopping center and went to the Dollar Store. I got bread and some rice. So I have some kind of food in my apartment. I got the tiniest reusable shopping bag. It's almost the same size as my bike basket and height and it's perfect. But I wandered around there for a bit and then I went over to the bank and got quarters and then I went home.
I was very shaky by the time I got back here but I knew I wanted to get things done a certain order. I collected all my laundry and took it downstairs. I did a load of towels which is basically all of them. So I can pack this up to take to James's house. And I did my clothes. Which is when I discovered that one of my shorts are missing. I thought that all of my shorts or just in the laundry but only two of them are in there. So after I finish this I'm going to go look through the baskets and see if I can find it. It's very annoying.
once my laundry was done I had to bring the towels up to hang because they didn't dry in the dryer they just got hot. But then I went and got my clothes and they were fine and as I was putting away the doorbell rang. Because my two new Shelby's are here. The one Shelby is going to Lane. But the other one is mine and I'm very excited about them. Especially because when me and James came back later after we had dinner at his place I put the battery pack from new Shelby who is mute into the old Shelby that had a speaker box issue. And for whatever reason that speaker box issue is no longer a problem. And they work just fine. I was going to start crying it was amazing. So that was a big highlight of the day.
But once everything was put away I packed a bag of stuff to move to James's house. Mostly Furbies in decorative items and liked over to his place. He made me a baked potato. And I Swang in the silk we put on that pull up bar. And just had a nice time. Had cheese and crackers and watched videos. It was nice just kind of spending quiet time in the apartment together. Neither of us felt very good though. He had an overnight last night and my pain was all coming back. So what 7 we walked back to my apartment.
He went home and I've been hanging out here ever since. I sat outside with sweet pea for a bit and pick my outfit for tomorrow. But I've mostly been watching videos and hanging out. I'm working at the Museum again tomorrow until 2 and then James is going to come over and we're going to try to get all the stuff off my walls so that when dad comes this weekend we can spackle and stuff. And then we're going to baseball game. I'm looking forward to it. I hope you all have a great night. Sleep well.

We left our story yesterday on our way back to our suite for some peace and rest… which we got. Even the kids were seriously down for a nap. In fact, we woke up before they did.
Now, one of the items on Kimmer's and Rachel's To-Do lists is to hit a Disney outlet store 'cause 1) Kimmer's quite taken by the idea of scoring a t-shirt or something from cruises that actually didn't happen. That would be merchandise manufactured for cruises that we're to take place in 2020 but didn't since all cruise ships were grounded. And 2) Rachel's on the hunt for other and less expensive Disney gifts for friends and family.
In the end, I think none of us were really drawn to anything we saw at that store. I think Kimmer walked away with a very sweet Mulan pin and exactly half of what Rachel found was for herself.
We were in a mall, though, so we poked around for a bit. Kimmer found me a black Hurley t-shirt because yup.
I've gotta sunburn.
I think this t-shirt's called a rash guard in surfing circles. Whatever it is, it's comfy, it fits, and I'll be wearing it with my swim trunks tomorrow at Blizzard Beach 'cause I really don't need any more burn than I've already got.
New shirt in hand, we jump a Lyft to Epcot where we pick up our day in The Land pavilion. Soarin' first, wonders of the world. Then that boat ride, Living With The Land, where you learn a little about ecosystem, farming, and some pretty impressive, better sustainable,.used in the park methods for growing food.
After that, the girls head off to the Magic Kingdom where they wanna end the night whilst we head off to the food & wine festival happening around the lake. Our plan's to explore around the UK side but we immediately fall for the temptation of Canada's menus of fillet mignon and cheddar soup with pretzel bread.
Seriously, it was the first stand we passed. But it.
Was.
Yummy.
😁
After, we continued walking in the direction of France… but nothing spoke to us and all the lines in France were too long. So we head back down the lake, out if the park, to the monorail station where we meet a.lovely family of four from Georgia. They're a little anxious on behalf of their kids 'cause the Disney Magic Kingdom fireworks show could start any minute now and they won't get a shot at seeing this particular version of that show.
Unfortunately, by the time we walk through the front gates of the Magic Kingdom, the show's in full swing.
☹️
We had no such expectations, fortunately, no plans to see the fireworks or the imagery projected onto Sleeping Beauty's Castle. That was all lovely and spectacular, of course…
But we were there for dessert.
We purposefully, then, make our way along Main Street to the Ice Cream parlor, last establishment on the right before the park's hub.
Now here's the thing. Kimmer has a nut allergy that encompasses all nuts except coconuts. So desserts… are always a challenge.
Always.
So Kimmer asks the question about nuts and exposure… and it's a pretty noisy environment just then and I think I see the cashier shake her head and mouth "no". Which I take to mean that everything's been exposed to nuts
But.
Turns out the opposite's true as the manager even offers to make Kimmer's Coke Float in a separate area with newly cleaned utensils.
And yes. That absolutely sealed the deal. And it's how, for the second time this trip, Disney's managed to provide her with a delicious, no risk dessert.
You have no idea what a gift that is
Me, I ordered an ice cream sundae with warm brownie and we walked our desserts across the way.
Quick Disney Tip: these tables clear out almost immediately once the fireworks are done. So if you don't care as much about endings, you can order your ice cream and score a table right away.
Also:
If you're looking to score ice cream on your way out the park at closing, the parlour on your right, walking from the direction of Sleeping Beauty's Castle will be closed whilst the one on the left, the one we landed on, stays open. In fact a long, packed line of people forms just as soon as the show's over and everyone starts streaming to the front gates.
By the way, one of the employees there, bless her heart, was super into the music outside. She sang along with her eyes open. She sang with her eyes closed. She sang with all her heart. And when she was done, she rushed to the window to see if Tinker Bell was flying.
Which.
She.
Was.
It's important, by the way, because she always has a good night when that happens.
🙂
The four of us finished out our night with desserts and stories around a table for four right there across from Sleeping Beauty's Castle before heading home for the night.
We weren't quite done with our day, though. There was laundry to do 'cause there's a washer/dryer in our suite and it's super easy to handle.
Also, the day turned into quite a time for losing things: my water bottle that I actually left on the ride. I got it back when I was sent through the exit to the platform where they'd already found it and cheerfully handed it over
Linzy lost her water bottle too, although pretty much she simply forgot that she left it on the counter when we left for the evening.
Rachel, though, the bag in which she stashed gifts for family and friends was legitimately gone. Most likely on the Disney shuttle that took us from the Magic Kingdom to the Transportation.
We don't know what's gonna happen but Disney personnel will go through the bus at end of shift and relay anything they find with Disney City Hall. Rachel's already contacted them and we'll just have to hope for a touch of luck
We've definitely got a routine that gets us out the door by eight… so we do that again and begin our fourth day in the Animal Kingdom with a return engagement of the Na'vi River Journey, an experience that's even better the second time around because there's so much depth to what Imagineers have created.
After that, Kimmer and Rachel make their way to the Tough To Be A Bug 3D performance whilst Linzy 'n I head over to Expedition Everest 'cause we're just straight up gluttons for punishment.
On the way, we're distracted by a live presentation of Macaws, a type of New World parrots that are long-tailed and colorful.
They were magnificent. At the end, one flew straight at and over me. And then a few beats later a bunch of them followed suit.
It was all amazing and terrifying at the same time
After the roller coaster and a few photo ops, Linzy and I met up with Kimmer and Rachel. We did a quick partner swap that sent the girls out for more shopping whilst the missus 'n I shared a breakfast sandwich over the river.
We rejoined the girls I'm Dino Land where Linzy's identified a ride that was built over the Indiana Jones ride track design but with a dino narrative. The girls enjoyed it first, we followed a few minutes later, then we all took a moment at a table in the main part of Dino Land for some photo reviewing and popcorn.
Afterward, the girls head off for Africa looking for a gift for Rachel's sister whilst we hop a bus (a wonderfully empty bus) for our second visit to Blizzard Beach.
Once we had our swimwear on, we walked a little until we notice inflatable chairs floating invitingly in the Lazy River. So we race down and situate ourselves in them and they.
We're.
Wonderful.
Good grief. They're super easy to get into. There's like zero chance of flipping over when you do. And, for me at least, they also seem to facilitate naps.
About three quarters of the way around our lap, we changed to clear ones with green handles 'cause Kimmer loves green and, you know, what the heck.
About three quarters of the way around our second lap, the girls ran into is, having slipped into the river a half hour before.
After that, the four of us in the warm waters of the wave pool followed by a tuna sandwich and chips lunch whilst air drying under an intense sun while then girls, I'm thinking, scored some donuts.
The girls caught up again when we were indulging our new tradition of grape fruit hefeweizen at Freddy's Shack.
Okay one last thing:
The ride back to our condo was helmed by another charming gentleman from Venezuela. We actually got into a pretty involved conversation that ranged from working as a bank executive to being forced to leave his country to trying to starting new in this country to facing employment language and age barriers to teaching in a Spanish teaching school to transportation management to Uber to Lyft to real estate.
Then we talked family. A pair of kids. Five grandkids that he and his wife help with during the day.
But his kids?
A teacher. A NASA engineer. And then the spouse of one of his kids who's also a NASA engineer. And then the fact that he's gotten to watch four shuttle launches. Two during the day. Two at night. And those nighttime launches absolutely turn the darkness of night into the brightness of day.
And so on.
It really is something when you talk stories with people you don't know.
🙂🙂🙂

Hey, I've read your whole single dad shiro series and I absolutely love it! Would you write one about shiro breaking his leg badly and 15 year old Keith having to take care of him and help at home? Thank you!
Hello there! This was a funny prompt to do. Because guess what? Shiro is the WORST patient ever. But Keith still loves him and helps him, but seriously, it’s like taking care of a child. Thank you for such a lovely prompt and for enjoying this AU! I hope you enjoy!

“I swearto god, if you get off that couch onemore time, so help me, I will duct tape you to it.”
Shirofroze entirely, halfway off the couch. He could feel Keith’s piercing glarehitting the back of his head, and burning holes into it, and he could picturethe look of annoyance on Keith’s face. He knew that the threat was very real inKeith’s voice and the fifteen-year-old certainly wasn’t joking. He would ducktape his father to the couch, without hesitation.
Slowly,Shiro lowered himself back onto the couch. His face immediately fell into apout and Keith sighed with relief.
“That’smore like it.” Keith said before entering the living room. He ignored the puppydog look on his dad’s face, in order to rearrange Shiro’s foot (which wascurrently in a cast) back onto some fluffy pillows. Then he sat Shiro’s lunchdown on the table beside him. “You heard the doctor. You need to stay off itfor at least two weeks, then you can somewhatwalk around on the crutches.”
“ButKeith, this is so booooooring.” Shiro sighed dramatically, causing Keith tosnort. Who knew that a man nearly in his forties could sound like atwo-year-old.
“Tough. This is your fault for stupidly trying to clean the gutters on your own.” Keithreplied sternly and fluffed Shiro’s pillow once more.
“Keith,I’ve been doing my own gutters since before you were born.” Shiro pointed outwith a raise of his eyebrows. Keith rolled his eyes and huffed.
“Yeah, but you’re getting older now,” Keith said, to which Shiro gasped. “You’re moredelicate.”
“Iresent that. Why would you wound your father, who is already injured?” Shirocrossed his arms over his chest and pouted again. Keith couldn’t help butsnicker at his dad’s attitude. Sure, he felt bad that his dad had been hurt andneeded to wear a cast for four weeks at least, but he was more concerned aboutkeeping his dad off his feet and resting.Shiro was a hard worker and Keith had grown up knowing just how hard his dadworked all the time. It was a struggle to get Shiro to slow down or rest, butthis was serious and now that Keith was getting older, he wasn’t about to letShiro dismiss his own health.
Heneeded his dad to be healthy for the rest of his life.
“Butthere’s still so much I need to do.” Shiro said quickly, hoping that this wouldget Keith to change his mind. “I never finished the gutters. Then there’s thelaundry and someone has to be a the training shelter to make sure all the dogsare okay. And balance the accounts out. And –”
“I’mgoing to stop you right there,” Slowly, Keith’s hand rose in a motion to stopShiro from speaking. “I can help out with the chores and anything around thehouse. You literally have a staff atthe shelter that you personally hired, who can handle things while you’re gone. And if you’re that worried I can go to the shelter in your lead.”
“ButKeith…”
“No. Youare not moving from this couch, except to eat, use the bathroom and sleep.”Keith said quickly, with a firm look. It was a look that he had learned fromShiro, and was one that meant there was no room for argument. Shiro still wassensible enough to see when he had been defeated. “I just want you to getbetter dad. You need to stop and take it easy or you’re going to make itworse.” Shiro felt a tad bit guilty upon hearing the slight bit of pain in Keith’svoice. Of course he felt bad that Keith had gotten a call from Shiro, statingthat Shiro had fallen off a ladder and could probably use a ride to thehospital. He hated how Keith’s hands had shook on the steering wheel whiledriving him to the hospital, and he hated that Keith had worried so much. However, he was proud at Keith’s ability to stay calm and keep a leveled headin the situation and talk to the doctors on his own.
Whatsucked was that now Keith was in charge.
He was never going to let Shiro move until hisleg was fully healed.
“Fine.”Shiro finally relented with a grumble. He knew defeat when he saw it and Keithwas not letting up any time soon. Hopefully, the next couple of weeks would goby so quickly.

“…”
“…”
“…Tellme again, why I’m putting all of thepictures in different spots around the house?” Keith asked. He had a pictureframe in his hand and a hammer and nails in the other. Shiro was seated on achair in the kitchen, observing over Keith’s work with a tentative grin.
“I justthought we could use an update. We’ve had the same pictures in the same placefor so long that it’s a bit of a drag.” Shiro beamed and nodded for Keith tokeep working. Keith sighed but didn’t argue with his dad.
He hadoffered to do any of the work that his dad had planned, and if it made his dadhappy enough to stay off his brokenleg then Keith was willing to do it. Without complaint.
“Do youwant this one to go here?” Keith asked, raising the picture above his head onthe wall. He heard Shiro quietly muttering to himself with a frown, andpatiently waited for a response.
“Hm,actually no. Not there. There’s not enough room for them all. Try that wall.”Keith turned around to see Shiro pointed at a wall to the left of Keith. Onethat still had pictures on it. Keith sighed.
“Youwant me to move those too then?” Keith asked, setting the frames and nailsdown. Behind him Shiro nodded.
“Yes. Ithink we could do with a good move of allthe pictures in this house.” Shiro said quietly and Keith nodded in response. Whatever dad wants, I’ll do.
“Fine, let me get them off the wall and hang these two up.” Keith quickly set to workof taking down the three pictures on the wall and hanging up the two in hisother hand. However, just as he was about to hang the last picture onto thewall, he could hear his dad clearing his throat.
“Do youthink we should change the photos in the frames? They’re all kinda old, don’tyou think?” Shiro asked. Keith stopped before he placed the final frame on thewall and closed his eyes. Although, instead of annoyance or anger, a smallsmile had graced Keith’s face and he found himself laughing quietly.
“Suredad, whatever you think.”

“Did youknow that apparently Big Foot doesn’t even have big feet.” Shiro announced oneday after Keith had gotten home from school. Lance, Pidge and Hunk were followingbehind Keith, through the front door. Each of them waved to Shiro beforescattering throughout the house.
Keithpaused to blink at his dad in confusion.
“What?”He asked dumbly. Shiro never looked up from the laptop screen in front of him.
“BigFoot. His feet probably aren’t as big as everyone makes it out to be.” Shiroexplained slowly. Whatever he was looking at or watching on the computer, ithad captured his entire attention span. “Proportionally to the rest of hisbody, his foot is pretty average size. It might seem big to us, because itwould be close to a size 14 or 15, but still. It’s not huge. That’s why peopleshould keep calling it Sasquatch, and not Big Foot.”
“Right? And the Yeti. Totally related to them. It’s a subspecies, I’m sure of it.”Pidge announced suddenly. Keith almost jumped, having not heard Pidge reenterthe room. He smiled with a roll of hiseyes when he saw Pidge brining over a package of cookies, before sitting downbeside Shiro. Quickly, Shiro scooted over, as he kept his leg elevated and thetwo began a deep conversation about the proper name for “Big Foot” andsightings that they may have seen ofthe creatures.
It wasnerdy and adorable, but Keith couldn’t help but smile at the two and snap acouple of pictures and videos.
“I thinkyou’ve had enough internet for today dad.” Keith laughed, causing Pidge andShiro to look at him in horror.
“I’vebarely scratched the surface Keith. You don’t even want to know about theChubacabra.”
Keithlaughed harder than he had laughed in months, in response.

“Keith,he refuses to take the pain medication.”
Keithsighed, fumbling with the phone against his ear and his shoulder as hecontinued to organize the back room stock of the Rescue shelter that his dadran.
“Allura, you’re an adult. Surely you can force him too?” Keith asked, huffing when helifted another bag of dog food onto the shelf. He could hear the sounds ofmuffled voices on the other end of the line before Allura growled.
“Despitebeing a leg and an arm less -”
“Sure could use a hand Allura!”
“Shiro,be quiet!” Allura snapped and Keith snickered to himself. “You better not belaughing young man.” Quickly, Keith sobered up and maneuvered the cellphonefrom his shoulder to his hand.
“Sorry. But seriously?” Keith asked quietly and Allura groaned.
“He’s alot stronger than he looks. I cannotforce him to do anything. Don’t youdare give me that look Shiro, I know you’re in pain.” Allura snapped, mostlikely to an offended looking Shiro and Keith bit his lip to keep from laughingagain.
“Alluratell him I said he has to or else.”Keith finally said quietly, causing Allura to sigh in acceptance. She quietlyrelayed the message and Keith could hear the sound of Shiro’s voice in thebackground.
“He saysor else what?” Allura repeated and Keith felt one of his eyebrows raise.
“Orelse, I’ll take away that new Pokémon game on his phone that we just installed.”Keith replied.
“Hesays, he doesn’t care. It’s not like he can go far anyway. Besides he caught a Pikachualready.” Allura said quietly and this time Keith almost groaned.
“Fine.”Keith growled. “Then you tell him if he doesn’t take his pills I won’t be bringinghome his favorite seafood and instead I will cram boiled liver down his throatfor dinner tonight.”
“…”
Keithlistened as Allura spoke to Shiro over the phone and to the silence thatfollowed.
“He’staking the pills now Keith.”
Keithgrinned. “That’s what I thought.”

“I neverthought anyone could do it, but you did it dad.”
“I toldher I was sorry. Several times in fact.”
“That’snot enough.”
“Whatmore can I do?”
“Did yougive her a belly rub and scratch her favorite spot on her hip?”
“Yes!”
“And didyou get her a new toy and give her some of your lunch meat?”
“Yes!”
“Well, then I don’t know what else to do. You’ve done the impossible dad. You’veannoyed Red to the point where she’s hidingfrom you.”
“…I saidI was sorry.”

“Everythinglooks good. I’d say just another couple weeks of physical therapy andeverything should be back to normal. The cast can stay off.”
“Oh,thank goodness.” Keith almost slumped back in his chair at the doctor’s wordsand Shiro rolled his eyes playfully. Clearly amused at the two, the doctoroffered a smile and a small laugh before excusing himself from the room.
“Don’tbe so dramatic, I was not that bad.” Shiro said playfully, causing Keith toalmost choke on his laughter.
“Dad,you were so bad. Horrible. You are the worst patient ever.” Keith said.
“Youknow, grandma used to say that too when I was a kid.” Shiro rubbed his chin thoughtfully, and this time Keith did in fact laugh.
“And youwonder why?” Keith laughed again when Shiro stuck his tongue out at him.Despite his exhaustion and what he had just said, Keith would have doneeverything over and over again if Shiro needed him to. More than anything hewas just glad his dad was alright.
Okay, so a tiny part of him was glad his dadwouldn’t be asking him how to work the tv remote every five mintues.

Yall need to care about this woman and humans like her
She's right you need to stay home. Aliens and evil will be out getting as many people as they can sick. And it's dangerous.
At home it is dangerous for raids from kidnappers all you have to do is keep the doors and windows locked and yell "I've called the police" through the door. Regardless if you did or not and you should if they are going door to door or you see kidnapping. They won't and can't hurt you. Not if we stop them because you stop them by calling and telling.
I am bound by unforsakeable rules ... By other planets rulers that recommend the best way to handle the situations of their planet's aliens that are in leadership on our planet. It is humiliation..
That is why the situation is so harsh. And it is so tough and my poor human woman is crying.
We simply cannot handle the alien's way of life on our planet. Look what it does to my woman.
She is not an actress. she is a nurse. Simple at is pleading and begging for relief and help.
I don't like the situation. I don't like it as much as much soulmate. Except i don't fight it. I know the end result and i do know that he believes there is a Better way.
But this is recommended by Planet Mount Xion, Mount Zulululu, Mount Oryoion, Interplanetary Chioioyoiaua, District of Ximbouartouanzuxia, Fierengliesienteriafviewnyoxia, and Mount Jauantianiauv. As well as 3 comets.
"Allow an alien to attempt to cause harm and reverse it. Do not interfere and allow mistakes then comfort and allow contorsion meaning apply rhythmetic change when the time is right. Allow humans to behave as humans do and allow aliens to understand they are not a proper fit here on this planet, eradicate them and then We will do the rest"
That is what i was told to do.
So now I'm telling you. Y'all have been doing it wrong, my humans. Go home and see your families. Let the military take over. They have been trained for years for this. Take time off.
Queen Elizabeth II has protocols to send y'all home for 2 weeks with pay in Europe on the other side of the world from the Americas.
Americas will work hand in hand and each military for each hot and heavy zone has protocols and for invasions of each hospitals.
Quarentine and Social Distancing cannot and will not stop.
I am outsourcing myself to NYC as soon as i can and you will see a different ability of social distancing and Quarentine other than staying in your homes. Alex and the military assisting me in travels have talked to thr Governor of NYC about my visiting. And i will be seeing my warehouse. And making sure it is okay and things are updated as they ought to be. So those idiots picketing outside after a DNA4U test with a spit swab to see their health will be dragged inside By their ear and slapped around to prove I'm not a fucking idiot. Nor are my workers that go to work every day without having a tantrum of stupidity. 61% on Staten Island which i appreciate and will check for them it is satisfactory at least. And speak to the workers myself to ensure they are being treated as they should be -- like not being fired for being slower than usual on a day or several days or not being reprimanded for being so. And checking office records and other information as there was a manager that was purposely abusing staff.
I have hotels that Alex and i own together and we will see about them. Then we have to self Quarentine for 2 solid weeks upon our return to other states. Which means not even going out to get groceries but ordering them and having them delivered on our disinfected porch. Where we have to carry them in ourselves.
I will check other factories and have access to them and will be working on them as soon as i can. As of now i dont have that ability.
I will see about conversion of hotels temporarily and what else needs to be done
I do believe we have offered our military Free stays our hotels in 3 of our 10 hotels. So we will check on homeless and ill but before that those being evicted
We have 82 apartment buildings which we own between Alex, Snoop and Shaq and I. 71 are in Harlem and we will check to ensure the poorest of those are having food and utilities still on and see how they are.
No one should be charged rent in our facilities and we will ensure that is occuring in our housing facility management teams. And talk to them about ways to manage the ability of keeping utilities on. Water and electricity in all 82 apartment housing that we own.
We own 79 restaurants in lower Manhattan alone and we will ensure our management teams are hiring delivery personnel and are feeding people and our buildings do not shut down to improper lighting or sanitation. It is up to the governor about food supply to local communities however we do desire catering to people working in essential places. Free of charge.
We own 800 restaurants total in New York State.
So obviously we hire people to take care of our businesses because it's impossible for even a team of 6 to handle that many.
We bought most when they were shuttered down and closed. Which is why we own So many buildings in Harlem after drugs ran people out and bad land lords and etc.
We did have many loans at Chase Manhattan bank which are now paid off. And i took a loan to start Amazon. Of $3 million. Which has also been paid off.
In Chicago we have 4 times as many apartment complex and 2x as many restaurants.
In Detroit we own half as many apartment and less than 25% of the restaurants compared to NYC. Because some trustworthy people we know own the majority.
We don't own many stores in either metropolitan area.
In LA we own 5x what we do for apartments in NYC and 3x as many restaurants.
Over all we own 600 hotels in the USA. Worldwide we own 3000.
So i have a lot to do to allow my end of the understanding of the agreement for what i made for this new times to go on indefinitely until it is fully resulted in what it needs to result in.
I'm not bragging about what we own I'm saying I will make a prototype soon for what all land lords should be doing.
I will override the government in their expectations.
And so those that cannot afford rent dont pack your shit. Ill kick your land Lord's ass If i need to. I'll have an assessment once i get to NYC and manage what i can.
As i said i own the least there and so working with a smaller area doesn't mean it wont work with more. It means it will.
If you can make it in the Big Apple you can make it anywhere. But we would all feel better if i had a bit of an education about it wouldn't we? Not that i need one because really... Its all quite simple and not at all complex.
So don't be jealous when I'm finally doing what i deserve to do. And don't be thinking I think I'm some big shot hoe bagger. Cause I'm not and i don't.
There are things i have to do for a once and for all for the alien life to see that they don't belong here.
And unfortunately they make women like this cry. Men, too.
Stop wearing N95 masks. Those are for like dead bloated bodies, carrying hazmat.
Not for regular everyday nurse wear.
Nurses and doctors go home. Straight to shower. Seal your clothes in a bag. Shower and put the bags away. Or undress in your laundry room and put your clothes in the washer immediately then immediately shower. Hot water and soap. Wash all crevices and hair. Faces and hands.
Then put on fresh clean clothes and hug and kiss your family
92% of healthcare workers world Wide got the same corona i got when i got it. Families did not.
The 8% that didn't are COVID-19 diers.
Constance will finish this post to explain the rest of what you need to do as I cannot because of the binding agreement -- the dead must speak from the dead.
