*(This doesn't only count going out to restaurants, but also stuff like picking up fast food to bring home, getting a coffee on the way to work, getting a premade sandwich from a grocery store deli during lunch, buying a quick snack from a convenience store or food cart whilst walking somewhere, ordering a pizza or any other food to be delivered to your home, etc.)

Maybe the rare month is a bit over $25 if there's something specific going on like birthday.#Which I'm NEVER eating in an actual restaurant (erm... covid... plus I just hate restaurant environments. i would rather pickup #the food and bring it home to a peaceful quiet environment that I control lol). i feel like im not making any sense but does anyone else feel like there are stories that let u run with them and ones that spell everything out for you

#im reading that post that says artists are directors of audience reaction and not its dictator:#'you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying t make them react. a good artist knows that this is what #allows work to breath. by definition you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table ... this is why you have to let go of #the urge to plainly state in text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted ... its better to be misinterpreted sometimes than #to talk down to your audience. you wont even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do #im thinking abt this again cuz i was thinking maybe the thing that lets adventure time work so well the way it does is cuz it doesnt #take itself too seriously that it gives the audience enough room to fuck with subtext and then fuck with them back yknow. i think it was #mentioned somewhere that they werent even planning to run with the postapocalyptic elements that are hinted in the show but changed their #mind after the one off with the frozen businessmen and dominoed into marcy and simons backstory. on the other side there are stories that #explain too much to let the story speak for itself and i think it ends up having to do more with the crew trying to lead ppl in a certain #direction than expand on what they have and i see a lot of this with miraculous. like when interviews and tweets are used as word of god in #arguments and it becomes a little stifling to play around with it knowing the creator can just interject. u can say its the crews effort to #engage with its audience but it feels more like micromanaging. and none of this is to say there ISNT room for stories that spell things out #theyre just suited for different things. if sesame street tried abstract approaches to themes and nuance itd be counterproductive #a lot of things fly over my head so i need help picking things apart to get it- but it doesnt have to be from the story itself. ive picked #picked up or built on my own interpretations listening to other ppl share their thoughts which creates conversation around the same thing #sometimes stories will spell things out for you without being so obvious abt it that it feels like its woven into the text. my fav example #for this might be ATLA using younger characters as its main cast but instead of feeling like its dumbed down for kids to understand why war #is bad its framed from a childs point of view so younger audiences can pick up on it by relating to the characters. maybe an 8 year old #wont get how geopolitics works but at least they get 'hey the world is a little more complicated than everyone vs. fire nation'. same for #steven universe bc its like theyre trying to describe and put feelings into words that kids might not have so they have smth to start with #especially with the metaphors around relationships bc even if it looks unfamiliar as a kid now maybe the hope is for it to be smth you can #look back to. thats why it feels like these shows grew up with me.. instead of saving difficult topics for 'when im ready for it'#as if its preparing me for high school it gave me smth to turn in my hands and revisit again and again as i grow. stories that never #treated u as dumb all along. just someone who could learn and come back to it as many times as u need to. i loved SU for the longest time #but i felt guilty for enjoying it hearing the way ppl bash it. bc i was a kid and thought other ppl understood it better than me and made #feel bad for leaning into the message of paying forward kindness and not questioning why steven didnt punish the diamonds or hold them #accountable. but im rewatching it now and going oh. i still love this show and what it was trying to teach me #yapping #diary

idea. since askdusttale answered an ask about where dust got his determination from (because dust has SOME determination just so he can remember the timelines and keep going against the human) and said it was totally up to personal interpretation on how he got his determination. so so so like what if what if dusttale's player did something similar to something new's player and changed dust's code to give him determination??? so dust and killer COULD BOTH had their codes tampered with??? the parallels would be INSANE. they both started off as sans and got their codes tampered with by the player but dust and killer went on two opposite paths. dust out of his own voalition decided to go against the human but killer had to team up with the human no choice at all. the opposite parallels go CRAZY oh god im tweaking

killer doesn't know exactly (since i forgot whether or not he can see codes or something like that. i swear there was an image of him describing fell and swap's code and then his own) but he can SENSE that something's off. something's different about dust that he doesn't quite know about. maybe it gets him to ask a bunch of questions that dust is definitely not open to answering because jesus man mind your own damn business but the question that really sets killer off is the way dust answers when he asks "so if you have determination then how did you get it?" and dust just shrugs his shoulders and said that one day he suddenly remembered the resets and then that's when he got it (and then goes back to mumbling to phantom paps or wtvr) and killer's just like. zomg. a sudden change in behavior or mentality that seemingly has no apparent reason related to the human???? like like like when he suddenly had to agree with the player despite literally never wanting to????? killer is over thinking the implications behind this

meanwhile dust is just annoyed now because killer keeps on following him. he keeps asking him strange questions. wtf why is the guy asking to see his SOUL that's incredibly personal???? he just wants to be left alone man he has no idea what's going on

i’m realizing that one of my favorite ways to create a character is by first establishing a major flaw of theirs and then examining how that will inevitably fuck them up a bit. then fleshing them out from there

#i’m realizing that’s how i created like. the majority of the characters i rp with LMAOOO i would start with flaws i think would be #interesting to examine in whatever story they’re in !!!!!!!! and then i’d build out positive traits/backstory in order to flesh them out #but starting with that major flaw really helps me build their character i’m realizing . i’m doing it with the new rp oc i’m trying to make #like for sae (after deciding she’s a fisherman) i wanted her to deal with impatience. sadie is self centered + controlling. erin is fake af #and even for dnd characters i’ve played like immian is a hermit and naive while tinni is SCARED as FUCK!#i really honestly believe flaws are greatttt for your characters story. like just in general really good for a guy to have negative traits #that will impact the narrative in a way that almost feels inevitable and thus force them to confront it OR succumb to it #so instead of starting with going Oh Well Sae is Nice and working from there i’m able to say oh sae is actually pretty hot headed deep down #which allows me to build more traits based off of that… she’s resilient bc she doesn’t want to BE hot headed. stubborn as fuck #wise bc she wants to grow. slow talking bc of her afi which connects to her backstory which connects to being hot headed #guys is this anything at all. is this microphone on. it’s 2am #lee chat

I don't want to start shit, but it really irks me, so I want to vent anyway.

People claim Alastor is sex-repulsed because he rejects Angel's advances.

But what do we see with Pentious?

His rejection is even more vivid. But later?

It's almost like people usually want to have sex with someone they like.

Sure there are people who wouldn't mind having sex with a stranger or someone they barely know. But that doesn't mean that if you are not ready to jump into bed immediately you are sex repulsed.

I do not remember people commenting on Pentious claiming he is sex repulsed. Only Alastor. Why? Is it because he is ace? His averseness to fuck someone he knows for a week suddenly makes him sex repulsed because he is asexual and all asexuals are sex repulsed?

Upd. (It was also about him being touch-averse which is ALSO not connected to sex and we already saw that Alastor is not 100% always aversed. He has tight boundaries)

Think I’m gonna have to force myself to take a break from this game. After going on a 12 game losing streak a week or two ago, I’ve ended up in some gutter hell where half the players literally don’t know how to play the game (never touching the payload, standing off to the side shooting some distant enemy while the red team takes the point, etc.) and the other half are smurfs going 30-0 with supposedly like 45 minutes on the game. I’m not good enough to solo carry my way out of this hell, so I’m just getting sucked deeper and deeper into the mire with no light at the end of the tunnel. In the past week I’ve been hovering around a 27% win rate.

I’m not usually the type to get frustrated at games, I play OW because I enjoy the characters above all. But this is the least fun I’ve had with the game in 8 years.

Has anyone else ever experienced this? I feel like I’ve been sent to the Overwatch equivalent of Hell!!

#I feel SO BAD for people genuinely just starting out on this game #the smurf situation is OUT OF CONTROL #and this is in Quick Play and the ARCADE of all places too #overwatch #overwatch 2 #I know it’s just a game and all that. but it’s one of my favorite ways to wind down after a long hard day at work or a stressful event #and lately it just leaves me yelling with frustration #I don’t MIND losing! but when you can’t even touch the point or get a SINGLE kill it’s no longer fun at all!
