Yes, yes, YES!!!

I TOTALLY agree with the above! The prince from "Snow White" is a nice romantic character! And yes, it was more than "love's first kiss"!

A Defense of Snow White’s Prince Florian

“He kissed a random corpse in the forest!”

“He’s preying on a child!”

“He stalked her!”

Please, please, you guys, I’m begging you to actually WATCH the original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

WATCH.

THE.

MOVIE.

Because the Prince kissing Snow White is, to me, one of the most heartbreaking scenes in Disney history.

And here’s why.

First of all, the Prince is clearly close to Snow White’s age. He is both drawn and voiced as very youthful. He looks and sounds about 16 or 17, at the oldest. He is NOT a “predator”. He’s a boy who loves a girl, like in any good fairy tale.

Secondly, the Prince meets Snow White early in the movie. She’s NOT a complete stranger to him at the end. And their first meeting is significant. The Evil Queen makes a big deal out of Snow White’s looks, being “the fairest of all”, etc. But the Prince is first drawn to Snow White’s VOICE. He’s captivated by her singing and her kindness to the birds. He sees beyond her looks. He sees past the rags she wears and recognizes that this is a good person, a beautiful person on the inside. Then when she’s startled by him, he’s very polite and soft-spoken, apologizing for frightening her. He’s a total gentleman. Then he serenades her, letting her know how much he admires her. (Words that she has NEVER heard from ANYONE else in her life, by the way.) Then he even smiles at and is kissed by a dove that lands on his finger, hinting he has a connection with animals somewhat like hers.

And then there’s a fade to black. So we actually don’t know if she came out again, if they talked for a while. Maybe they didn’t, but maybe they did. The film doesn’t clearly tell us one way or another. But there is a possibility that they did get to know each other a little there. And if they didn’t, something is still beginning between them. They share warm smiles and affectionate looks. They both feel it, and they both hope to pursue it.

Then Snow White finds out her stepmom wants her dead and has to run away. Which means the Prince noticed her absence.

And the narrative text later tells us that he “searched far and wide” for her after she disappeared. (This guy walked so Fiyero could run, let’s be real.) Imagine the person you’ve been thinking about, hoping to get to know, wondering if they may be the one, suddenly vanished without a trace. And she’s the Princess of your neighboring kingdom. And then the Queen of the same kingdom also suddenly disappears. Wouldn’t you be alarmed? There’s a chance the huntsman may have gone to the Prince’s kingdom for help, and warned him of the Queen’s horrible actions. There’s also a chance that the Queen already had a bad reputation in the area, and the disappearances were a confirmation of what was already suspected. So the Prince nobly tries to find out what happened to his newfound love, worried about her safety. Snow White sings about her hope that she will see him again and tells the dwarfs about him … but the full truth of the situation is that he’s been thinking about her too. It’s a mutual young first love, pure and innocent.

Then the Prince FINALLY finds his beloved… in a coffin. After a “far and wide” search, there she is, apparently DEAD! All his hopes and wishes for a possible relationship with her are dashed. A 17-year-old who once dreamed of reuniting with his first love has just found her dead. He knows absolutely nothing about the poisoned apple’s spell or its cure. He doesn’t know a kiss will save her. He thinks she’s gone. Forever. All he knows is that he has found the girl he loves too late, and he couldn’t help her, despite all his searching. So, he kisses her goodbye. He kisses her as an apology, a sign of regret for lost dreams, a chance that he seems to have been denied. A 2-second touch of her lips to show his devotion. Then he bows his head and grieves.

This moment demonstrates than in him, Snow White has found the genuine love she’s been yearning for. While her stepmother tried multiple times to murder her, now she has someone who genuinely values her, so much so that he searched everywhere to find her when she went missing. Who was so heartbroken and crushed at the notion that she was gone forever that he gave her what he thought was a goodbye kiss, his one and only way of showing what she meant to him before he became haunted by the ghost of her memory, of his failure, of his lost chance at love.

This is a deeply and tragically romantic moment that has sadly been widely misunderstood. Do not slander Prince Florian! He doesn’t deserve it!

Snow White x Gaston Disney Mirrorverse Headcanons

What I love about Snow White's Disney Mirrorverse design is that she truly embodies a benevolent nature goddess like Demeter, Persephone, and Mother Nature. I adore the different concepts of Snow White with long hair, and I've added hearts to my favorite designs. I particularly love the outfit with the light blue/cool color scheme because it represents spring, and the outfit with the light yellow/warm color scheme because it captures the essence of autumn. My favorite headpiece will always be the one adorned with roses. Overall, I'm in love with her and her finished design.

Gaston with longer hair let loose is something I've always known I needed, but Gaston with facial hair is a revelation I never expected because it makes his sky-blue eyes pop! I'm not sure if the design team intended for Gaston to resemble a dark god of the wilds and hunting, but that's exactly what he looks like to me. The concept designs featuring Gaston with the wolf pelts and antler headpieces particularly stand out to me because they evoke images of gods like Cernunnos, The Horned God, and Herne the Hunter (even though Herne is a ghost, he's still associated with hunting and the wilds). I've marked my favorite concept designs and his facial hair with hearts. Overall, I love his finished, beastly, and feral design.

Headcanon:

In my headcanon, years after the events of Disney Mirrorverse, Snow White and Gaston are married, and their Stellar Magic abilities have amplified, turning them into deities of some sort.

Gaston's transformation into a god of the wilds amplifies his natural strength and primal instincts. With his long hair flowing wildly and adorned with a majestic antler headpiece, he embodies the untamed spirit of the forest. He now wears fur pelts, symbolizing his mastery over the creatures of the wild and his protective nature towards them. His stellar magic abilities have granted him control over the animals and the elements of the wild. He can summon and harness the raw power of nature to defend his domain. His appearance is now more imposing and regal, with his attire reflecting his status as a king of the wilderness. His beastly features are accentuated, giving him an aura of both danger and guardianship.

Snow White's transformation into a goddess of nature amplifies her nurturing and harmonious connection with the earth. Her long hair is adorned with flowers, and her body is covered with leaves, vines, and feathers, symbolizing her deep bond with all living things. Her stellar magic abilities have amplified her control over plant life and natural elements. She can heal the land, summon plants to aid her, and create protective barriers made of vines and flowers. Her presence brings growth and renewal to everything around her. Her appearance now radiates grace and elegance, with her attire blending seamlessly with the natural world. Her regal yet gentle demeanor showcases her role as a protector and nurturer.

As a married couple, they live in a huge, enchanted, hollowed-out tree with the dwarfs and their seven children. Snow White has many animal companions, while Gaston has a pack of wolves as pets.

Gaston has a tender and unwavering devotion to his tiny queen. Beneath his rugged exterior, he harbors a deep and abiding love for her. Snow White is the soft spot in Gaston's heart. Her presence brings out his gentler side, and he often finds himself enchanted by her grace and beauty. Despite his arrogance, Gaston becomes soft and caring in her company, going out of his way to do small, thoughtful things for her. Whenever he starts to treat others rudely or roughly, Snow White intervenes with a soft touch or a gentle caress. Her soothing touch has a magical effect on him, instantly calming his temper and reminding him to be the man he wants to be for her.

Snow White finds immense comfort in the loving embrace of her husband (which has nothing to do with the fact that she was touch-starved for a good portion of her life after her father died). She cherishes the moments when he wraps her in his arms for big, long hugs, feeling the warmth and protection he offers. She also catches him listening intently whenever she’s singing or telling stories to the children and animals, and it makes her smile to herself to see the inner little boy within Gaston—a side of him that is curious and playful~

🕊️🥧🍎 𝒮𝓃𝑜𝓌 𝒲𝒽𝒾𝓉𝑒 🍎🥧🕊️  I realized that I haven’t really done illustrations of all the Disney princesses (because I’m always drawing Ariel 🙈) So I thought I’d go in order of release and start with the fairest of them all! Snow White has such a special place in my heart💖 I love her kindness and her beautiful high operatic voice (Thank you Queen Mother, Adriana Caselotti 🙇‍♀️😭💖). I also love the original soft colors of her dress.   With the live action remake coming out, but I have no intention of seeing it, though I think Rachel was a good choice for my girl Snow- I just know the story will be disappointing, I hate its lack of representation for little people, and I refuse to support a witch #freepalestine   What is your favorite retelling of Snow White? Snow White: (giggling softly, placing a gentle hand on his arm) "Oh, Gaston, that's not the nicest way to ask. Remember, we must always be kind when we ask for something."

Gaston: (blinking in surprise, tilting his head as if the concept is alien) "But why? I'm Gaston! They should feel honored to ask me anything. Don't you agree?"

Snow White: (still smiling sweetly) "Of course, Gaston. But kindness always works better than shouting, don't you think? Why don’t you try asking more politely? Maybe you could say... 'Please send us your wonderful questions; we'd love to answer them!'"

Gaston: (hesitating, scratching the back of his head) "Hmm... 'Please'? You really think that'll work?"

Snow White: "Oh, I do! And it'll make everyone so happy to hear it."

Gaston: (grumbling under his breath but relenting, placing his hands on his hips) "Fine. Ahem." (clearing his throat dramatically.) "Please... send us your questions. We’d—ugh—I’d love to answer them, and so would Snow White."

Snow White: (clapping her hands gently) "Oh, Gaston, that was perfect! See? You can be polite if you try."

Gaston: (crossing his arms, muttering) "Only for you, Snow White. But they'd better send good questions—none of that boring stuff about 'what's your favorite color'!"

Snow White: (laughing softly) "Gaston, every question is special if it comes from the heart. Now, let's wait and see what wonderful things they'll ask!"

Today is the day that the "Snow White" remake releases.

While I didn't watch it and don't plan to do it, I am preparing something Snow White-related.

(I wanted to post the thing today, but I had the idea for this 3 days ago. So yeah, planning ahead is not my skill lol.)

This might be the only time I talk about the live action Snow White reboot because I can't stop thinking about this comment somebody made on kayla says' video since it kinda says something about some of the backlash

Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but the brief dialogue between Snow White and the Prince when they meet at the well in Disney's original film is rather ambiguous. It doesn't clearly state that they've never met before. Snow knows her stepmother doesn't want her talking to anybody and getting distracted from her chores, so it could simply be fear that the Queen may see them and get mad that causes her to run away, rather than him being a stranger. Plus she specifically wishes for "the ONE I love," a specific person; her fleeing could also be embarrassment that he caught her singing about her feelings (as if the Romeo & Juliet parallels weren't already there with her looking down at him from a balcony later in the scene.) If you dislike the notion that "they just met," there's actually enough wiggle room to headcanon that they did know each other in the past, but this is his first time confessing his feelings for her.

I thought this movie was lovely, and I had fun watching it in the cinema despite all the hate it's pulling. As someone who didn't watch the original much as a child, I can't say if it brings justice to the original but I will say it had some truly beautiful and nostalgic sequences that made me appreciate the beauty of storytelling.

Ship Names: Snowdes, Pure Burning Love, Pure Heart & Burning Heart, and Snow Fire.

I've been secretly shipping these two since the book Mirrorverse: Pure of Heart came out back in July of 2023.

I actually haven't read the book yet, but the ship sailed for me from the moment I read on the Wiki that Hades was genuinely surprised when Snowie tried to comfort him when he was ranting about the cards he was dealt in his life, and later, when I read that Snowie was going to sacrifice her pure heart to The Evil Queen in order to save her friends, Hades instead sacrificed his own burning heart and gave it to the queen so Snowie wouldn't have to. It just hit deep for me.
