Hobbes with his mom, snorkels, and his litter mates ( Calvin, Lily & Leo). Hobbes was brought inside with Calvin at about 6 weeks because they got sick and were hand fed and vetted. Calvin didn’t survive ( failure to thrive) although we fought hard. Lily & Leo were more feral and stayed with mom. Lily was trapped at about 8 months because she showed up with a broken leg which was saved by a specialist and she now is our little untouchable cat with a slight limp. Leo is still outside and is Mickey‘s best buddy in the yard colony. Snorkels was finally trapped and spayed and stayed around for periodic meals for about a year then just disappeared one day.

Ya’know what I’m tired of? Seeing people (usually animated) swimming with a snorkel… but the snorkel is completely submerged in the water. I just- I can’t explain it, it just makes me angry.

I snorkelled today and I saw a common stingaree. I don’t have a photo because my phone would die. But oh my god.

Have a pregnant male pipefish on this Wet Beast Wednesday. I'm not sure animals who live in water properly embody the pathetic spirit of the day, but I was soggy and frozen enough for both of us.

We sadly didn't encounter any sharks. Most species typically found in shallow reefs are either nocturnal, either particular to some parts of Bali we haven't visited.

On the other hand, we saw a lot of colorful fish while snorkeling, and three turtles! The guide told us we were pretty lucky to find them.
