So I was getting the remaining POI entries I need between the two and I have Arthur go to the Hermit Woman... you either have to run off her dogs or kill them. ... I had to kill them. I just survived a bear attack I'm not dying to three dogs.

Arthur hogties the woman, writes in his journal, and as I have him get on his horse to leave he shouts back,

"You take care now!"

Arthur please...

Speaking of bear attacks I'm VERY curious to know if the camp will react in ANY way to Arthur coming back all scratched up so I'm hoping the wounds don't fade til I ride all the way back... to Clemen's Point... from North Big Valley... The blood faded from his coat but the scratch marks are still there.

Had the rude racer come up to us and ask to race down to Owanjila. Said no. He called us a coward and he's very lucky we have places to be.

Autopilot... Crashed into the tree those damn O'Driscoll's cut down to make Arthur and Micah crash that wagon. Why does no one ever fix that?

Just as we reach near Diablo Ridge (near the edge of West Elizabeth) we have to help a guy with a bear trap and I see our bear scars finally fade away from our back... now we only have the face scar... gotta hurry if I wanna show camp.

Just as I see camp in the distance... face scar is gone. Mission Failure.

Walking towards where Micah's at the fire, bear pelt over my shoulder.

Me: Micah I fought a bear and won, look, look!

Micah makes some noise, laughs, "got ya there."

Arthur: Just name the place my friend. Just name the place.

Dude... we fought a BEAR and won. Think we're scared of you???

Oh to be as happy as Uncle looks playing the banjo.

See's Micah bothering Abigail, beelines for them.

He walks away says "Ladies" to Karen, Tilly, and Grimshaw.

Karen: *happily* Hello!

Me: WTF Karen?!

Proceeds to follow him around camp antagonizing him.

He brags about putting money in the box (after fucking teleporting I stg he was behind me)

Arthur: What do you want? A medal?

$25 hm? weeeell.... lemme just put in... $100.

Scene comes up where Karen is complaining about Grimshaw, Grimshaw shows up.. with a broom.

The fuck are you out here sweeping, Susan?!

Arthur: *to Karen* My lady.

Karen: Leave it.

What did I do?!

As we're leaving camp to head to the Braithwaite place to get a photo of their secret I see Hosea walking away into the woods... with a plate. Where the fuck did he get a PLATE? I thought we only had bowls?!

Then we see him kicking Sean awake (who's supposed to be on guard) and I realize it's for a scene... but then I go over and look via photo mode... plate is gone.

Rowing over to the manor and there's a couple sitting on the beach. cute.

I think that's all the things I need for POIs (besides the Grey's secret because for some reason whenever I go to get that entry the paper is gone and neither wrote anything down for it.) so those should be all up within a week.

While I'm out here might as well get some photos for those little islands.

Is there a reason that the music on these fucking things is so fucking creepy at night????

If I hit a snake with my boat... it'll be fine right??? . . . It hissed and disappeared but there's no X on the map... but it did a lil flash on the screen... Q-Q I'm sorry Snek.

On the bright side my heath is going up from all this paddling.

got to the sunken/wrecked ship. Never noticed an eagle can spawn at the top of the mast.

So.. just like in real life.. shooting a hole in your boat is a bad idea. Not sure what I thought would happen. In hindsight I should've done this closer to the camp and not... ya know, on the island across from it. That being said if you're ever stuck on one of those islands just set up a camp and poof magically you're back on the main land.

Rolled around in the mud to see if I could get Grimshaw to make me wash... she comes up to me... and says they were worried about me Q-Q I didn't think I was gone so long. I just went around the islands for about a day and a half.

I don’t disagree with you, but I don’t have ko-fi or anything to do specific different pricing and idk how to make it more reasonable with the way discord nitro works and also then have anyone willing to buy it so

Theory Behind the Reward Tier Levels in Janus’ Corridor.

Has someone done this, already? Probably. But nothing says mental exhaustion like procrastinating on schoolwork by over analyzing the levels of tiers in Janus’ Corridor of Stored Rewards.

So with the release of the amazing art by James von Hollen (@ignoreitforever on Instagram) of each of the tiers (and the honestly delightfully terrifying images of Janus ripping through a wall like the Shining), I’ve had some thoughts on what the levels mean in relation to them because I am a Fander and we cannot leave well enough alone gdi.

See, at first I liked the idea going around that Janus was just giving tiers based on people he liked, as he’s stated that he prefers Remus over the others in livestreams. But the thing is, he obviously does NOT like Virgil, so that doesn’t quite fit to me. And the idea that it’s just giving preferential treatment to the Dark Sides made sense to me, until the new images came out and we had padlocks galore.

Instead, my theory is that each tier is based on how deep into the secrets he’s promised in his Corridor you go. The further along the more he WANTS to keep them secret, and thus the more money it takes, meta-wise, to pry those secrets loose, and why there is no Janus level tier. There’s no way he’d want to reveal everything he knows, no matter the amount. He (Janus) even got downright angry when people tried bugging him for spoilers in streams.

So instead he has the tiers listed by how willing he is to make that Side “public” or not. (Longwinded theory under the cut)

So first we have the Logan tier: the Federal Education Budget

Honestly, this startled me because of the fact that it looks so arcane and mystical, which doesn’t match how I imagine Logan at all. My friend @onnastik pointed out that the creature on the right, surrounded by sigils, is the demon Baur, who among other things is said to “teach natural and moral philosophy, (and) logic...” which fits the bill pretty perfectly.

Speaking of a bill, the name for the tier fits Logan perfectly, too, to me. The Federal Education Budget is not only the budget used in the American system to make sure kids have free education until the highschool level, but is also part of the college loan system. It signifies public education, and that’s why I feel that Logan is the lowest, and thus most accessible, tier. Janus considers him bland, safe for public consumption, and maybe even wants to put up a front of logical intelligence first and foremost, to make even the broadest view of Thomas seem as intelligent as possible.

And look at how much the basic tier gives! That’s a huge amount for just the lowest tier, and gives you plenty to enjoy. That fits the ideal of something like a broad education system, and gives a very open feel. Logan’s tier is literally an “Open Book” of all sorts of delights.

And with that horrible pun, we move to Patton’s tier: The Monthly Allowance.

For all that it is creepy as heck, the fact that Patton’s tier is also a pun is perfect. The candles heat must surely make this... heartwarming. And the addition of blooper reels in the rewards, and the commentary, feel more personal than Logan’s open tier. Which is why I don’t think Patton was the first tier.

Patton wears his heart on his sleeve too much for Janus’ tastes, I bet. All of those emotions just out there where anyone could see? Those bloopers that showcase how imperfect Thomas and the crew are? Yikes. That is definitely something a certain snek wouldn’t want to be the most public option, though, at the same time, Patton’s gentle qualities and general love of the fandom also mean he’s a good symbol to push closer to the front of the Corridor, and doesn’t need to be as hidden as some of the others.

Also the fact that Patton’s tier has a sticker as a reward is absolutely perfect and you can’t tell me otherwise. Can’t you just imagine him going “Thank you so much, kiddo! Let’s watch some bloopers and play with sticker books! I’ll get the cocoa”? He’s the good goofy dad and stickers are fun. Bloopers and being silly are fun. It’s perfect for the sweet lad.

Then we have the illustrious Roman’s tier: A Prince’s Ransom.

Hooo boi there’s suddenly a lot more to unpack here. This is in no way an insult to the lovely Crew as a whole, but doesn’t it feel like this tier has more bribery going on than the last two? More self-centered reasons to join? It’s not just your name in the credits like Patton offered: it’s your name as a writer. That T-shirt (which I 100% leaped at when I saw this because holy heck it’s so pretty), and of course the mysterious Writer’s Room.

This tier feels very creative as well: look at all the stuff about influencing the show, the art of the shirt, etc. This is all about being showy and creative like our wonderful prince. But it’s not the first tier, even though Thomas is very much a creator. Why? Why is the tier for the showiest, flashiest Side just randomly tucked in the middle, not even the highest for show?

Because Janus doesn’t want Roman to be the first thing everyone sees. Our sweet boy is definitely eye-catching, but he can also be vain to the point of pompous, even annoying. And his fragile ego isn’t something that Janus likely wants to show off. Janus’ statement about “blushing” and “being worth that much to you” even feels like it matches that pride and ego.

And that fragility is in the crown’s design, too. At first glance it seems fine. Very fantastic, with Roman’s sun symbol in lovely display. But a longer look reveals cracks, broken sections and fissures. And a slight, odd green shine, too. Hmm.

No, Roman couldn’t be made the first tier because of his pride, but his is also the last tier to not have any outright locks on it...

The Strange Dark Son’s tier: OK, Now You’re Making Me Feel Guilty...

“Now you’re making me feel guilty” is absolutely what I would expect Virgil to think about someone giving him money because they enjoyed Thomas’ content. He’d freak out, and want to make sure to do something equally nice in return, to say thank you. Hence the thank-you video.

NGL I can also imagine him panicking and rushing around his room to pick up a random mug and just thrust it out at the gifter in return too, before hiding away in an anxious mess, but anyway. xD

The artwork for this seems to very much be in homage to the Annabelle Doll: a supposedly haunted ragdoll, kept locked in a case at an occult museum.

Something interesting about this doll’s story, though...

Wiki: “According to the Warrens, a student nurse was given the doll in 1970. They said that the doll behaved strangely, and that a psychic medium told the student that the doll was inhabited by the spirit of a deceased girl named "Annabelle". The student and her roommate tried to accept and nurture the spirit-possessed doll, but the doll reportedly exhibited malicious and frightening behavior.”

Huh. Who else do we know that when confronted with too much coddling responds by lashing out?

And this is the first tier with a lock. The glass is chipped (from inside or out?) but the lock is holding. The doll is inert and doesn’t seem likely to do anything unless disturbed, if it matches the original story. Which seems to fit Virgil relatively well. Sure, he’ll make you anxious (maybe those cracks are where the influence leeches free), but doesn’t seem intent on outright harm. Also the cracks and the creepy living doll cabinet as a whole made me think of spider webs and our boi’s Halloween decor, so I thought that was excellent, honestly.

This tier is hidden behind Roman’s shining pomp. It’s outright locked away, as if to keep it from seeing the light of day. The Dark Side tiers both seem this way: hidden from prying eyes by the splendor of the first few tiers.

And the most hidden one of all... Gross Profit.

“Oh you bougie rascal, you! Your generosity is seen and I truly thank you for it… but a few kind words from me aren't enough, I'm sure... so how about, you get everything from the last tier ALONG WITH...”

Firstly we have exclusive tier level gifts that Janus won’t even reveal. Meta-wise, this is likely more because the team has to decide what those gifts ARE, and how to safely ship them, but the way it sounds in the description not only feels super secretive, but also very much like Remus to me, as well. I’m pretty sure any and all gifts from him are a surprise in some way. Whether that is pleasant is debatable, but it’s still a surprise!

The highest tier also looks to have the highest security. Look at that sturdy, metal bound chest and huge padlock. Not only that but it also has chains wrapped around it to hold it shut, and even then, the contents are actively seeking to escape, like our delightful trashman would. Even the shuggoth-like appearance matches his presence as a shifting, terrifying and likely quite gloopy entity, capable of squeezing even where he’s not wanted. Even the green fabric below looks stained with mud or blood or something equally as upsetting. The image does a great job of showing how hard it is to contain Intrusive Thoughts, as a whole, and is likely a main reason Janus drinks so much “juice” on his birthdays.

Unlike the last image, this one is outright trying to break containment, and oddly, it almost seems like someone left a golden key in easy reach for just that purpose... A key which also looks rather oddly shaped, to me.

It’s hard to tell from the angle, but it doesn’t look like the eye is a simple circle, but that it has a point, like a heart almost. Or even the ornate letter D from the Corridor logo?

I can’t be sure of that, but what I can definitely be sure of is the sheer amount of lock, key, and chain symbolism our Snekky Fren has to his name.

While Janus has no tier, the entire SITE has his symbol, like a brand.

Every post, the icon, the about page, it’s there. And the snake isn’t trapped by the lock, but guarding it. It looks to have a green highlight around where a chip is (hmm), but other than that, it looks quite solid, and well-guarded by watchful creatures that never blink.

The shape of the lock looks like it could be heart-shaped as well, like that golden key allowing the Remus tentacles to wriggle free.

They also do a heckin blep and honestly what could possibly be better?

So yeah, that’s my way overly long ramble about the tier levels and what I think they mean. Maybe if I’m not too lazy I’ll do one on the pictures of Janus playing peekaboo with my nightmares on the about page.

God but this art is amazing and y’all need to go preesh the artist holy heck.

Card Shark 71: The Element of Generosity, A Beautiful Heart

Happy Ultra Rare day, friends! Welcome to a new installment of Card Shark! Picking up where my latest UR poll left off, today I’m focusing on the first Ultra Rare Resource in Card Shark history! And boy is it a pretty one! Here’s “The Element of Generosity, A Beautiful Heart!”

You can feel the shine of this card radiating from whatever digital screen you’re reading this on. To start off, the cost-to-power ratio is freaking EPIC. That’s 7 power if you flip it during a Faceoff, and you only need to pay 2 AT and have 3 White req (the equivalent of a White Mane Character) in play to play it! However, you can’t just play it willy-nilly, as you must control a Rarity card for it to enter play. That’s not a hard play requirement considering the abundance of decent Rarity Friends (RTO, Soprano, Radiance, etc), not to mention I’ve seen Ambassador of Generosity pop up in competitive play from time to time. Now the fun happens: At the start of your turn, as long as the Element is in play, you stick a Harmony counter on it. You don’t need to pay anything. It automatically happens each turn. Then, during your Score Phase, if you have at least 2 Harmony counters on the Element, you can remove them to reduce the confront requirements of a Problem by 3 wild power until the end of your turn. To show an example of how this would work: Say you want to confront your Totally Lost. You remove the 2 Harmony counters from the Element. This brings Totally Lost’s confront requirements to 2 wild power instead of 5 wild power. Back when it was just Premiere block, this... was not exactly the greatest. Most Problems relied on certain colors to confront them, and the concept of wild power was only used when you confronted an opponent’s Problem. (Still pretty useful, don’t get me wrong!) But now that almost every usable Problem requires some level of wild power to be confronted, this is really nifty! This can get around opponents exhausting a bunch of characters to prevent you from confronting things and can be useful in a pinch if you can’t find much power in your deck. This is a fun Resource to play with, for sure!

That shine is covering the less great parts of this card. There is one big detail that players can forget when using cards like this: Most of the time, there must be at least one character at a Problem in order to confront that Problem, even if the Problem’s confront requirements have been reduced to 0. But that’s not the biggest issue I have with this card. What bugs me about this card is the matter of a card called Coloratura, Simply Rara. A single Rara, when exhausted, reduces that wild power cost by 4 instead of just 3 - and she isn’t Unique! You can have multiple Raras in play at a time! Sure, Rara can’t use her printed 4 power to help confront the Problem after that (unless you give her Stubborn with a card like Igneous Rock and Cloudy Quartz, Rock Ranchers or Hard Hat), but there are ways you can get around that easily in today’s metagame. Of course, we didn’t have Rara before Defenders of Equestria, and from what I can tell, this was the card that reduced the most wild power before then. That doesn’t mean I don’t think it isn’t a viable option anymore. Like I said before, I do really like that 7 base power, which doesn’t suck if you get it during a Faceoff. But if reducing wild power is your strategy, you’re better off sticking with Rara.

Besides practically any Rarity card, here are a few cards that share the Element’s generous spirit:

*Fluttershy, Nurturing Nature. This is the Mane Character that likes to make confronting Problems easy as pie. Fluttershy can contribute her power to confronting a Problem even if she isn’t situated at that Problem. This is usually done with a Staff of Sacanas to double her boosted side’s power from 3 to 6. You still need at least a small character at the Problem in order to confront it, but it is an overall painless process. Your biggest concern is your opponents’ Resource removal (chances are a Staff will be more menacing than this Element), but if you can get your Staff set up as soon as you can, your opponents will be having a much harder time.

*Joe, Sticky Glaze. If you’re in that spot where you can confront a Problem with just a single 1 power character, Joe is one of the best to do that. Not only does he prevent the Problem from being replaced until it is solved, but he sticks around when the next Problem comes into play! It’s a nice little cycle. Just be careful of opponents dismissing/frightening/banishing Joe, or even simply moving him away from his Problem! A move like that can ruin your strategy.

*Discord, Sneaky Snake. Got a pesky Troublemaker blocking you from confronting that Problem? Bring in Discord the snek here to ward it away temporarily! This card allows you to retire a Friend at Discord’s Problem so you can ignore the Troublemaker that turn and simply confront the Problem. You have a lot of options with what you could do with this retiring yourself - using Token Friends, Friends that do things when they leave play, etc. Your opponent won’t be thinking it is hisssssterical.

*Repulsor Blast. An alternative to Sneaky Snake, Repulsor Blast does the same thing as Discord, but in the form of an Event that applies to all Problems. This is a good choice over Sneaky Snake if you’re not running Pink or don’t want to retire Friends. This is also an option if you don’t think you have to worry about Troublemakers too often. Whichever you choose, you’ll still be confronting those Problems in no time.

*Similo Duplexis. I haven’t gotten into the really complex side of things yet in this Shark, so why don’t I start now? Similo Duplexis is a tricky one, since it allows you an additional Confront Step for each Problem that turn. And the Element doesn’t reduce the wild power confront requirements for the next Confront Step, but until the end of the turn! That means you can reduce the confront requirements if a Problem once and confront the Problem twice for cheap. This requires timing, though: Similo Duplexis is expensive (4 AT and 4 Purple req), and for good reason, so make sure you’re saved up when you appear in two places at once.

- - I’m aware there’s a big issue with aspects on slaves who are attached via strict/supervision. Alas because of trying to fix that specific not so unbreakable aspect in the first place, and I thought it was fine as I had it seemed to be behaving at last in testing. It’s one of my highest priority fixes for the next update.

if I was doing banshee I'd probably go the discworld route where they're physical types rather than (Eth)

{This then spawned a fun discussion about a race that up up that point I had never thought about including in the game. Now they might make it into the next commission poll as the plan for that one is to be all new races anyway}

- - they may be able to dominate one but generally they prefer more common types who are easier to practice corruption through

- - Elves have about as much clue as what is going as most everyone else, apart from being convinced they used to be in charge, and it actually was the high elven empire at one point before the name got changed

probably the veil has got the best records, but to say those are fiercely guarded to the point of paranoia is an understatement

- - not outlawed per se, however anything really interesting tends to go missing, mostly there's a lot of kooks and enthusiasts who draw all sorts of conclusions that are so often diametrically opposed, even if someone does happen to get it right it's likely it'll be stuck under the heading of just another theory and not paid all that much attention to, then maybe a few decades later the building where the book or scroll was kept gets flooded rendering it quite unreadable

Commander Challenge: Faith Edition; The Old Gods, and the New.

Last week we had a Battle of Gods, and their people.

No, not that. With Amonkhet fully released, and people still playing in the pre-releases. Many of you have seen the new Gods. Well, many years ago. We were introduced to the Theros Gods, the old ones. This battle is only between the mono colored Gods of Theros, and the Gods of Amonkhet. If you don’t need to see who is battling who. You can voter here.

Ignoring the possibility that Bontu could attack, we have have an Aristocrat effect every turn. The added bonus of scrying, in black. Makes it seem that this God wants us to see how quickly we can win. Deck Price: $120

Red likes to rush into battle. Well, red’s biggest folly is using its entire hand too quickly. In some cases, our hand loses value over time. With Hazoret, we either get a 5/4 beater without a hand, or a world shock when our hand isn’t that great. Deck Price $150

Ok, we’re in blue. We can always attack with Kefnet. We also have the ability to draw a card every turn. Late game we have a full hand, and a big bird God swinging in. Deck Price $100

Oketra, the pretty kitty Goddess. With our budget, we’re going to make the deck amass a field so we can swing with her. A higher budget could have allowed us to build her as a Voltron styled deck. We just don’t want to buy $15 swords. Deck Price $100

Snek Snek, Rhonas the Snek God! In the color of “My turn two creature is a 5/5.” We will have Rhonas online, whenever we cast them. Go, give them a mighty push! Show them your ferocity! Deck Price $120 The Old Gods.

Simple, yet effective. He makes sure that people can’t go past their 40 life limit. For we must all meet our maker. He will let us Draw, for a price. Deck Price $100

He killed Elspeth. We don’t like him. Though he does make a 2/1 every turn. I mean, that’s ok. He killed Elspeth though... Deck Price $90

Give us Trample, gives us bigger dudes. What’s not to like? Reliably a 6/6 Nylea is pretty sweet. Deck Price $100

One of the best Red Generals, with the ability to make tokens into damage. While we will incorporate some of that into the deck, we will add another theme to him. Deck Price $150

She doesn’t have that fancy Bident anymore, but she’s mean, blue and totally all about them control. With the ability to scry every upkeep, and to make one of our peeps unblockable. There are plenty of sea-faring creatures that would love to smack into an opponent. Deck Price $100 So vote for the one that deserves your faith. Remember to vote here.
