So, I did another Magic Thing:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ever since Twilight was shown, I wanted to build a Commander Deck with her, and let me tell you: I *hate* Commander. 100 individual cards? So much mana balancing? So much removal? So many goddamn staples?? I hate staples! But hell, Twilight did it for me.
Tumblr media
So I printed them, and it works! I'm really glad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Printing these Proxies is always a highlight.
Anyway, I'm never building a Commander Deck again. Cube all the way, babyyyyyyyy

More fancy proxies. Magic is expensive, but getting cute art doesn't have to be.

Kinda time sensitive question, how many basics are required to make Kodama of the West Tree worth it in an EDH/Commander Deck?

I got bored so I ranked how strong the mana rocks in Commander are (including mana crypt and jeweled lotus)
mana crypt.
sol ring with no downside
sol ring.
mana crypt with downside (costs 1)
Mox Diamond
mana of any color can be added, puts a land in your bin which can be good
chrome mox
always taps for a color you want, but imprint can be rough later
mox opal
requires more set up than chrome and diamond
mox amber
i'd personally put amber tied with opal, but i think opal is just slightly stronger
arcane signet
its goated
the guild talismans
flexibility is great
paradise mantle
like if mox amber and arcane signet had an unwanted child
Mind stone
the fact you can sac it to draw a card makes it better than #13
thought vessel
we've all been there
all of the guild signets
i'd say these cost like 2 and a half mana, but at least they're untapped
everflowing chalice
the child of paradise mantle if they allowed it to breed
the tapped diamonds
these are bad, they're effectively 3 mana
What i didn't include:
jeweled lotus
this is a ritual
mana vault
this is a ritual
medallions
cost reducers are better than rocks in most cases, but arent rocks
monoliths
these are combo pieces
rocks that cost 3
i'd be here all day
Negative 6 billion: mox tantalite
the forgettable suspend moxen. suspend is bad
sol talisman
sol ring with suspend also isnt good
This is just my opinion, I am open to discussion.

I've never seen someone win by using Bribery to steal another player's Leveler out of their library.
Until tonight, I guess.

do you play edh? if so what are some of your favorite commanders to pilot?
I do! That’s actually my preference.
My absolute favorite/main one is my Aesi deck- that’s the one that pisses everyone off lmfao- it slows the game waaaaaaay down and prevents much from happening unless you have flying and/or landfall, plus I feel like a little cockroach because I can get so much life back that it’s really hard to knock me out of the game quickly (and through trial and error I’ve learned to pack a few counter spells in there to combat board wipes when people get mad at me lol). Though truthfully I am likely going to replace the commander for this one.
My second favorite is my Neyali deck- she packs a fuckin punch and there’s several scary cards in there that create a shit ton of creatures and counters. I play her if I know I’m gonna go against people who wanna try to take my ass out quickly instead of letting me build the way my Aesi deck requires.
I have a few others, but these two are my babies and the ones I’ve spent the most time editing, especially the sea monster deck haha. I’m gonna make a rat deck and a dinosaur deck next!

After finally winning a couple games with infinite combos I can safely say they are only fun if you can't tutor them super easily, at least for me personally. It makes it feel a lot more like getting my pieces of Exodia!

a weird thing i do with MTG is whenever i find out about a combo while playing arena, although I know it's wildly known, i try to keep it a secret within my gaming circle as much as possible so i get to have these secret spells all for myself. it's silly but sometimes i do feel like a little wizard with their secret little spells ✨🧙🏽‍♂️🫥

deePRECONnassiance: entering MTGO's Commander Workshop
This is a series where I dig into the preconstructed decklists from Magic’s digital history. Why? Maybe you vaguely remember playing with them and were trying to remember a particular card. Or you could be a precon tragic who misses the old style of theme/intro decks. Or you’re looking for inspiration for new kitchen table decks for when you get together for some beers with your buddies. That…

Finally cracked my deckbuilding rut with one of the coolest cards to come out of Bloomburrow. Almost want to get the other key cards of the deck proxied as tarot cards as well just to match the theme.

Had a good game last night. It’s a shame I haven’t got my custom art Rat Colonies done yet, this would have been a great debut game for them.
