Introductions

Hello, my name is Rose and my goal is to provide an in depth analysis of the popular web comic Homestuck. During the course of Homestuck's eight year run time across its over eight thousand pages it became a cultural phenomenon. You could hardly go anywhere without seeing someone who's read it. Homestucks were known to swarm conventions en masse and frequently in cosplay and grey snazeroo body paint. I was one of those people.

Homestuck had a massive presence on Tumblr, so much so that it garnered a specific tag for when the comic was live. Anyone talking about a new page or new act that has been released posted it with the tag #upd8. If you didn't want spoilers you avoided that tag entirely. It was even used when HS^2 was still being released.

The way I plan on compiling my thoughts on this adventure of epic proportions will be in chunks. Acts 1-3 will be covered in their own dedicated posts as those acts are fairly light compared to what comes after. Most of the intermissions will also be covered in their own posts with the exception of the Act 6 intermissions.

Once I've finished my analysis of Homestuck, I will dive into the analysis and failings of the epilogues and HS^2. That being said, this is meant to be for fun and to bring light to the smaller details you may not notice on a first read through, beware spoilers ahead and please be respectful!

the fact grians skin didnt change on his red life is funny to me because it suggests either

a) all the other red lifes, in universe, decided to get edgy makeovers (including homestuck style snazeroo grey skin paint)

b) whatever forces of the universe change how red lifes look decided that grian is just scary enough as it is

What's the face paint you use for terezi and how long does it last?

Throughout the years I’ve used different face paints. The first was snazeroo, But I beg you don’t use it it’s not worth it!

The one ive since then used is Grimas! Overall i like it a lot, but at times i did experience patchiness. I always like to joke that face paint smells fear because sometimes it goes on smoothly and other times... the more you mess with it the worse it gets. Method of application is also a big factor but aside from all of that it does last long throughout the day I’ve never experienced patches were the color came off.

Now this is not for homestuck, but for my next cosplay that requires face paint I’m going to use kryolan aquacolour. I’ve heard a lot of good about them and they both have sticks as well as the regular kind. Speaking of which I’ve heard from other homestuck cosplayers that they really like the stick face paints from Kryolan for their troll cosplays, now I’ve personally never used it but it might be good to try!

Quick question. As someone who has a nut allergy is there any face paints that are safe to use. I've tried snazeroo but I had a reaction to it and I got itchy.

if im bein honest its just some of that sports face paint junk u pick up at walmart!! I mixed yellow and blue to make my own greens. its just a water based face paint, i do a few layers with the base colors then use eyeshadows to contour and clean up the color. then i seal it all up with a translucent powder!! it was just a costest so it was a lil sloppy, when I get the whole thing together I'll probably use snazeroo with the same process.hope that helps!! if u have more questions hmu
