@a-snarling-slytherin Agreed, although James Potter (and Lily) was better known for defying Voldemort 3 times before he fathered Harry. Before that, he was known for his skill at Quidditch. And Lily also defied Voldemort 3 times. 

This does, however, pale in comparison to Severus Snape’s achievements: most skilled at DADA, Potions, and possibly other subjects as well. He revised Libatius Borage’s textbook (and possibly others), invented several spells, and appears to have been several years ahead of his level.
