Nobunaga is afraid of snakes. I have no legitimate reasons for this, but think of it.
1.) Imagine he’s just chilling with the other warlords and a snake happens to be existing. Imagine seeing your boss scream like a little girl and jump up in surprise because there’s a cute little snake. That’s so funny.
2.) Naga means snake in Sanskrit. The irony here is delicious.
3.) Nagas can also be referring to the mythological creature that are half snake, half human creatures that are at least semi-divine. This fits…very well.
4.) Nobunaga is just fun to bully, honestly, and I think him being afraid of snakes is completely valid <33
Someone please tell me I’m not being completely invalid here.

OC Deep Dive
tagged by @arcandoria, thank youuu! tagging with zero pressure: @irrewilderer, @seraphfighter, @setaflow, @glitchinginthegarden, and @miss--river!!
I NEVER talk about Nova enough so I'm taking this opportunity to do so ♡
Tumblr media
-> Phobias and other fears: Nova's biggest fear is failure. Followed by snakes.
(putting the rest under a read more!)
-> Pet peeves: when people talk during movies, people who are always late (wear a watch or something), and unsolicited advice.
-> 3 things you can always find in their bedroom: abandoned cups of tea, books, model space ships
-> First thing they notice in a person: How they carry themselves. Nova tends to make judgements based off of it, whether those judgements are right or wrong is up for debate.
-> On a scale of 1-10, how high is their pain tolerance? Probably around an 8! Girl's been through some shit.
-> Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure? Fight, always. Whether it's physical fighting to defend herself or a verbal argument...she will fight you.
-> Do they come from a big family/are they a family person? No and no. She's an only child with a poor relationship to her blood relatives so she's never been one for family.
-> What animal represents them best? Maybe a tiger! Since they symbolize courage and strength...and they're pretty badass.
-> What is a smell they dislike? Popcorn is number one, she just thinks it's gross
-> Have they broken any bones? Multiple, yes. Her line of work isn't exactly OSHA approved
-> How would a stranger likely describe them? Strangers often describe her as cold, ruthless, and intimidating. The scowl on her face does her no favors (resting bitch face queen)
-> Are they a night owl or morning bird? Night owl but forced to be a morning bird...she has no sleep schedule.
-> What is a flavor they hate and a flavor they love? She hates anything banana flavored (valid), but loves anything cherry flavored (girl why)
-> Do they have any hobbies? She looooves reading! She always has at least 2 books going at a time. She's unstoppable. She also journals, and tries fish keeping but well. She's not very good at it. And then of course, building model space ships. *sigh* she would have loved legos.
-> Boom, surprise birthday party! How do they react to surprises? Do not do this lmao. Nova is a planner, she doesn't like unexpected anything let alone a party. tbh her instincts would kick in and she would probably punch the first person she sees
-> Do they like to wear jewelry? No. She's gotten used to not wearing any that she never really thinks about it, and she just...forgets jewelry even exists. She does have EDI's ring though- she just keeps it in the box tucked away for safe keeping.
-> Do they have messy handwriting? Absolutely. She never learned to write (everything was digital), so if she writes anything at all, it's bound to be a disaster.
-> What are the two emotions they feel the most? Anxiety and frustration
-> Do they have a fabric? I don't know enough about fabrics to answer this 😅 I guess...wool maybe? It's kind of scratchy...like her personality
-> What kind of accent do they have? Standard American. Her voice claim is canon fem!Shep so!

Remus Sanders is an artist HCs
I think that there are too many people who sleep on the fact that Remus is an artist. I mean… sure… his creativity is probably mostly spent on creating disturbing thoughts and coming up with lewd jokes. But I refuse to believe that he does not make art just for the cool aesthetic or to put his ideas into a tangible object (or performance). I’ve seen more stories where Virgil was an artist for some reason... and Remus wasn’t even if he’s a literal embodiment of Creativity. Gotta fix it.
We know that Roman is an excellent singer and actor. He can draw (Mona Lisa) and write (gift for Logan; songs; poetry) as well. But he couldn’t really play an instrument (see: Moving On) and he mentioned that Thomas probably shouldn’t show his dancing skills, so maybe he’s not the best at that too. He’s good at costume design and tried interior design as well. The list goes on. He clearly has his strengths and weaknesses in this department.
So what about his brother? (get ready for that Creativitwins content… and maybe some hints at Intrulogical and Dukeceit too)
...
...
...
1. Remus is great at playing instruments. He can play almost everything he tries if you give him a few minutes to check how it works. But being his chaotic self he most often plays instruments that are super loud and annoying.
2. When no one listens he sometimes tries instruments that are more soft and romantic, but you’ll lost your ears and eyes if you ever discover it. Deceit once did. He promised to not tell anyone, but he still remembers the sight of Remus with a silver harp, singing some angsty ballad like a dramatic bastard he is.
3. He likes to make his own instruments too. From everything. And I mean everything. Which includes vegetables, bones, soil, parts of furniture or dirty laundry. Don’t ask.
4. He’s good at singing, but prefers playing.
5. So he often plays for Roman and since they both enjoy coming up with their own songs they regularly perform something one of them wrote.
6. They sometimes try rap battles, so Roman can practice for his eventual rematch with Logan, but rapping is really not their style. And most often than not they end up laughing too much to perform and just add as much nonsense and disgusting jokes to the lyrics as possible.
7. And maybe when Thomas was younger they had a very “hardcore” band called: The Empire Has Fallen. And maybe they sang about not being loved and appreciated. So what? None of our business.
8. Remus is great at sewing (yes, sometimes it means visiting the sewers). And costume design (have u seen his clothes?!). At first most of his drawings were inspired by Roman’s – he just wanted to do something that was a complete opposite. But later he gave himself more creative freedom.
9. Remus designed and made Janus’ costume. I mean… the snake boy is fashionable and all. But it doesn’t mean he can create something on his own. He just said “black and yellow… and I want a hat” and Remus was like: “ALREADY ON IT!” (at first he gave him a bee costume with a top hat as a joke).
10. He’s not great at interior design, because he values the creepy aesthetic over comfort and practicality. So his room was mostly created by Roman who kept the colour scheme and the atmosphere of a damp and weirdly luxurious basement, but added a lot of pillows and greenish lamps in various corners. (There was a long argument about keeping the artistic bloodstains on the walls.)
---
11. He’s excellent with make-up. But he does not try too hard while doing his own, because he likes to look like he has not slept for two weeks.
12. He can dance, but doesn’t do that often. Especially since part of his charm is being intentionally ungraceful and positioning his limbs at weird angles. However, he dances with Roman or Janus if they want to. (With Roman it often ends in a playful fight; with Janus dancing can turn into a semi-romantic, passionate performance to some villain songs.)
13. He’s just as good at drawing as Roman, but obviously their inspirations are very different. Remus most often draws people… with way too many details and a lot of attention to anatomical correctness. You know exactly what he draws. I’m not gonna say it.
14. Logan taught Remus a lot about anatomy of both humans and animals so he can draw as realisticaly as possible. And if they dissected a body in the basement to be extra sure how the liver looks that’s also none of our business.
15. When they were kids Patton promised he will put his drawing on the fridge next to Roman’s if he promises to not draw blood and corpses. Initially he drew some disturbing pictures of naked people to mess with the rest of the sides, but only Logan could look at them without being too grossed out. And since Remus really wanted some validation, he showed Patton his designs of new weapons and pictures of deep-sea creatures (some real, some fictional). A few of them were on the fridge for so long that the ink has slightly faded.
16.  The pictures of sea creatures were partially responsible for Logan’s fear of the bottom of the ocean. But it’s a phobia fuelled by curiosity and scientific fascination so he does not complain and often complements the most terrifying designs.
17.  His weirdest creative outlet is creating new animals. (Roman’s manticore-chimera was heavily inspired by Remus’ mush-ups). And maybe he sometimes invites a certain local nerd to admire his work and help him with coming up with Latin-based names for his dear abominations. And maybe they enjoy adding antlers to fish a little bit too much. And then giggling about it. Stop judging. Gosh…
18.  Remus is unfamiliar with the term minimalism. Or rather he pretends it does not exist. With his ideas the concept of “less is more” will never apply.
19.  He loves sculpting. He’s not great with it, but you can make a big mess with clay, so he finds it relaxing. Sewing is also relaxing, but in a more “I’m already calm so let’s do something tame” sort of way. Sculpting is better to vent. Ya know… create a face out of clay and then punch it real hard. Or smash a block of granite with a mace and see what interesting shapes you end up with.
20.  The art he’s most embarrassed with (if he’s capable of such a feeling at all) is his doodles. He thinks they’re too soft and cute. But he draws them anyway, because sometimes he’s just tired, but still needs to do something with fidgeting hands and all the ideas buzzing in his head like a swarm of hornets.
 ...
More to be added. I myself am full ideas.
[I did part 2. It’s HERE, if you’re interested.]

A Game of Vice: Chapter 3
Alternate title: Brother Gothel

words: ~2500
pairings: implied/eventual logicality, eventual prinxiety
warnings: remus sanders, deceit sanders, mentions of blood

Roman knew there was a reason he always hated towers.
Sure, he usually shrugged it off as a fear of heights, common enough to garner him as little pity as possible from the other Sides, common enough to almost convince himself, even if a part of him crumbled at his dashing prince persona being tainted with such a phobia. Nevermind the fact that he conquered cliffs and chasms and treetops with ease. Maybe, he’d think to himself occasionally, maybe he just happened to avoid towers; maybe they just never crossed his mind when he created new landscapes and villages, and that’s why every adventure he embarked on was blatantly lacking in such structures. It was a perfectly valid excuse, if he said so himself, and he was more than fine with pretending it was the truth until a better explanation forced its way to his attention.
Well, guess what, Roman? he thought to himself now. The better explanation just kidnapped you and tied you to a chair.
So much for a fear of heights.
“Could you stop moving around? You’re distracting me.”
Remus hadn’t actually been in the tower with him for long - not consistently, anyway. When they’d first appeared there, he just shoved Roman and turned to the singular window in the room as his brother stumbled back into an almost stupidly well-placed chair, staying silent as Roman protested the ropes that appeared and wrapped themselves around his wrists and arms. (A burst of fear struck Roman for the umpteenth time that afternoon when he looked around, got a glimpse of the landscape over Remus’ shoulder and realized where they were, in Remus’ twisted, shadowed side of the Imagination; he had little to no power here, no chance to simply will his binds away and summon his sword to fight his way out of his brother’s godforsaken tower.) After that, Remus had just glanced back, contempt sharp in his eyes, and disappeared, the first of many times he’d done so since then.
He’d at least been in a better mood when he returned that first time: his smile had returned - discomfiting as it was, it served as a comfort to Roman that his brother was gleeful rather than cold and more unpredictable than usual - and he practically danced around the tower, whistling to himself as he messed with something behind Roman, something metallic that made a horrid screech as Remus dragged it across the uneven stone walls.
“They will come,” Roman had called over his shoulder then, his voice just unsteady enough to make him sound more like a petulant child than anything. Though he wasn’t sure how much faith he could put in the concern he’d seen in Deceit’s eyes when Remus dragged him to the Darkscape, he did have faith in the others to discover his disappearance and come find him, be it with or without the snake-faced Side’s help. “They’ll come for me.”
He’d been pleasantly surprised when Remus replied in a singsong voice, in between those awful scraping noises, “They already have!”
His pleasure shriveled instantly as Remus appeared at his shoulder. Roman finally realized what the screeching came from, saw it in the corner of his eye as he was too paralyzed by the grinning presence just behind him to look at it directly: a long, thin sword, made of an oddly green metal, scarred by dozens of tiny notches and stained at the end with something dark that made Roman’s stomach turn. “But the question is, Princey-poo, how far will they get before they decide you’re not worth it?”
Needless to say, he hadn’t graced that with a response. Not because he didn’t have an answer, of course; obviously he knew his family - his actual family - would power through whatever Remus threw at them, he just… didn’t want to give Remus the satisfaction of a response.
Obviously.
Remus had disappeared again shortly after that, reappearing a few minutes later with his eyes narrowed, hands folded behind his back as he paced the small perimeter of the room. He muttered something to himself and made an odd motion with his hands, a gesture that inexplicably reminded Roman of the motions to “Itsy Bitsy Spider” as he stared on in confusion, and then Remus glanced out the window with a grin and disappeared as quickly as he’d come.
Now, though, as he stood at the window with his back to Roman and his head low, Remus was more snark than sardonics.
“I wouldn’t be moving around if you untied me,” Roman mumbled, slumping as best he could beneath his restraints. The rope around his upper body - just above his elbows - wasn’t awful to deal with, though it was tight enough that breathing had to be a shallow endeavor, but he wanted nothing more than to tug his sleeves down to give his wrists a reprieve from the merciless, prickling fibers that had been scraping against them for the past forty-five minutes.
“Oh, but doesn’t it just add to the aesthetic of it all?” Remus said with a grand sweep of his arm, finally turning to face his brother, sunken eyes wide as he glanced around the room. “Royalty trapped in a tower, simply agonizing for a brave knight to rescue them.” He straightened up and gave Roman a haughty look. “It’s poetic.”
Roman just scowled. “If that was an Into the Woods reference, I’m impressed but mostly disgusted that you would use such a masterpiece against me.”
“I’m simply heartbroken you don’t like this, Roman,” his brother continued as if he hadn’t spoken. “I tried so,” Remus clenched his fist, “so hard to appeal to your interests and keep you engaged; I thought you’d appreciate the Rapunzel tribute, but alas!”
“Rapunzel doesn’t get tied up.”
“She does at the end of Tangled.”
Roman stammered for a rebuttal, but his brother had a point, so he just pressed his lips together and scowled some more.
“Besides,” Remus continued, his gaze cold and even once more as he stared at Roman - whatever he’d done after he disappeared last time left him stony now, much quieter as he paced, and it was clear Roman was hardly his first priority at the moment. Roman saw the sheath at his side as he strode past, saw the tentacle-like tendrils that curled around the hilt of his sword. The heavy, even footsteps echoing around the room pounded in his ears like a heartbeat; he really didn’t like having Remus prowling out of sight. “You’re a romantic,” Remus said, enunciated as if the word was dipped in poison, “and won’t it be oh-so-sweet to be rescued by a dashing knight?”
He…made a good point (which Roman was reluctant to admit, so he just stayed still and listened, though he did wonder who exactly Remus had in mind as his ‘dashing knight’- not that he had a preference himself or anything), but something about his tone and the fact that the footsteps had stopped for a moment, right behind him, made the prince’s stomach twist. There was a moment of silence - suffocating and depriving at the same time as Roman held his breath - and then the sharp clack of Remus’ boots on the stone floor began again.
“I’m playing by your dull rules, Princey,” Remus spat as he continued pacing, finally reaching his spot in front of the window and spinning to face Roman, eyes and words sharp. “Fairytales and knights and quests, is that not what you want?”
Roman stared at him, watched the way he flung an arm out to gesture to the world beyond the window; the anger, the seething flame burning on Remus’ face was not an expression Roman was used to seeing. His brother was always grim smiles or patronizing simpers or intense eyes that hid nothing and screamed mischief, if Remus wasn’t screaming it himself, and when he was quiet, it was just to give time for his shock-factor antics to sink in. There was no shock now. There was only ire and fear, wide eyes meeting each other with vastly different significance in the smothering silence as it fell between them.
“I’ve made this game for you, Roman,” Remus said, voice low and nearly spilling over with something that boiled and splashed too close to Roman for his comfort, “to show you just how important and special and loved you are by your new little family, and yet you still think it appropriate to belittle my hard work?”
And Roman just swallowed, his heart racing and eyes darting between Remus’ face and the sword at his side as his brother’s hand came to grip the hilt. It took him a good minute before he finally heard what Remus had actually said. Your new little family.
“Oh,” he said stupidly.
He’d nearly always chalked Remus’ actions up to his inherent unpredictability, his need for chaos and delight in tension; he’d never considered that it was his own fault that Remus felt the need to lash out. (This, of course, went a bit beyond lashing out, but he and Remus always were a tad extra.) Of course, from his perspective, it would seem as if Roman had abandoned him and left him to the Dark Sides, even if Remus got along swell there: Roman had found his place with the others, kept his brother hidden from Thomas’ attention just as they did with Deceit and even Virgil, back before he became more prominent, more essential. He’d shoved Remus as far away from Thomas as he could. He was desperate for his other half, his grotesque and irreconcilable reflection, to remain a shadow and keep himself in the spotlight of Thomas’ priorities and focus, even if it meant keeping Remus out of his own focus, too.
He couldn’t very well refute Remus’ points - Roman was ashamed of him, as awful as it sounded now that he admitted it to himself, and he did his best to let his existence go unacknowledged on a daily basis - but there was a spark of what he hesitantly deemed sympathy in his chest, and as much as Remus could be a detriment, Roman was ashamed of himself as well.
“Remus,” he said quietly - his brother hadn’t shifted his gaze while the prince thought, nor did he soften at Roman’s tone now. “I’m sorry. I’ve never even thought about it from your perspective - I didn’t realize how much that must have hurt you.”
This was the moment, with the others, Patton or Virgil or even Logan, when they’d both go quiet, contemplative, and their voices would be soft as they came to a mutual concession of value or merit or whatever they’d gotten into a scuffle about. They’d give a small smile to each other and they’d chat and throw a joke to cheer themselves up, to remind them that they were allies and friends at their core, that the future was full of compromise and respect and warm regards. Apologies were difficult, and to extend a sincere one was a gesture that went openly appreciated.
But Remus was not one of the others.
His gaze was blank, dead-eyed, as his fingers curled around the tentacled hilt of his sword, white knuckles betraying his cold front; Roman shrank back in his seat as his brother pulled the sword from its sheath, winced with a shiver down his spine when Remus dragged it along the ground behind him as he took slow, deliberate steps toward the prince. The click of his boots against the uneven stone echoed in Roman’s head like gunshots, again and again until he wanted to press his palms over his ears and squeeze his eyes shut and hope beyond hope that he was somewhere else when he opened them again.
But his eyes were open, wide and sharp with the threat of tears and trained helplessly on his brother, who finally stopped a few feet before him, head high and face unreadable.
“Rem,” Roman managed through the fear clawing its way up his throat. “I’m willing to talk about this.”
Remus finally smiled, and Roman had never seen something more dreadful.
“How chivalrous,” his brother said quietly. “How honorable.” His smile bordered on a sneer, a subtle, ridiculing blade in his voice that cut Roman to his core. “You’ve always had the option to talk, Roman. But guess what?” Sickly sweet now, dripping with enthusiasm and something scathing and acidic, grin wide enough for Roman to see Remus’ canines. “It’s my turn to pick now, and that option isn’t available anymore.”
Roman swallowed and opened his mouth to respond, but just as he went to push out a plea, there was something blocking it: a cloth tied around his head and between his teeth - he choked on the sudden gag, a tear finally falling from his squeezed-shut eyes as he coughed and struggled to pull in an even breath.
When he finally righted in his seat, chest heaving and vision blurry with the rest of his tears unshed, Remus just watched him, a grim shadow of that smile still lingering on his face. The panic blazing through Roman’s chest doubled as his brother lifted his sword and pressed its stained tip to the prince’s throat.
“These may be your rules,” Remus started with what Roman could only guess was delight, “princes and rescuers and fantasy and whatnot, but it’s my game. Chin up now, Roman.” He gave an exaggerated grin and pushed the tip of his sword harder - a drop of warmth trickled down Roman’s throat - until Roman returned the smile, or a shaky excuse for one, from behind his gag. “We’re having fun!”
He dropped the sword, tucking it neatly back into its sheath with a firm nod of his head, seemingly satisfied.
“Now if you don’t mind,” he said, eyes flickering from Roman to the rest of the room as if admiring his handiwork, “I have a bespectacled adventurer to put to the test!”
And he was gone.
Roman stared at the now-empty spot, his eyes finding nothing but pale, scraggly lines, scars from Remus’ sword across the stony floor. Another shot of panic scored his chest as he took in the phrase ‘bespectacled adventurer’ - he hoped it wasn’t Patton, although the spidery motions from earlier didn’t bode well now, and though he knew Logan could handle himself against Remus, he wanted the logical Side to avoid Remus’ twisted provocations all the same - but it was dull with shock and the numbing effect of overwhelmedness as his gaze drifted to the landscape beyond the window.
He saw trees, gnarled and black. A pallid gray sky, stained with patches of charcoal, dark spots that foresaw a storm. Above all - ironic - he saw an emptiness that spanned before him, a lack of life in the altitudes Remus had dragged him to; the spine-tingling fear he’d felt all those times when his mind slipped during a quest in his side of the Imagination, when a single, looming structure forced its way into his adventures and nightmares alike, crawled up within him now, forcing the wall of unshed tears from his eyes at last.
He was trapped in a tower, and he was utterly, undeniably, and suffocatingly alone.

THE EXTREMELY DETAILED OC ASK MEME for Iegan AND Apate!! I warned you. :P Stay tuned for more. Probably.
Tumblr media
There you are. At the best of my abilities. may it curse your sleep and bless my crops. :’D
under cut cause it’s damn fucking long.
Illyrio
Tumblr media
1. Age, Birthday, Star Sign
So, I don't really have month/day precise birthdays for my ocs? :'D I don't even know how that would work on SW and I suck at star signs so… I can say Illyrio is born in 3682 BBY and that makes him 42 during the events of Makeb (which is the year he meets Muhn, if that works as a reference), and that I fancy calling him a Scorpio cause I guess it kinda fits.
2. Gender Identity
Cis man. It never really went further for him, he always was comfortable that way.
3. Orientation and Relationship status (single, taken (by who?), crush (on who?))
Bisexual. Married to Muhren in 3637 BBY in canon universe; alternatively fancying his mess agent Blakk in other ones and .. well, both in some others. >>
4. Race and Ethnicity
Human, in SW standards, and then I couldn't really go in many more details 'cause, well, I still kinda want it to apply to his universe rather than trying to stick Earth labels and I don't have a clear faceclaim… let's stick to "not white".
5. Height and Body type
He's 1m77 aka 5'9". He's not overly muscular, but still very much in shape. He has a pretty athletic body even if he's essentially built for agility.
6. Headcanon VA
I cannot find headcanon VA for the love of me, so, well, I suppose simple the Inquisitor VA for now. :'D Euan Morton is a Broadway actor and singer after all.
7. Occupation
Dark Council Elite, leader of the Sphere of Expansion and Diplomacy, with direct oversee on the Voss' diplomatic situation.
8. Weapon of Choice(?)
already answered here
9. Hometown and current residence
He was born on Ziost, in a slave breeding and training facility. He lived some years in an apartment at Dromund Kaas but now has set residence in his mansion on Voss, despite his work not often allows him to spend long periods of time there.
10. Do they have any markings, piercings or scars?
They have a number of scars, most prominent being the slave marking on his face, the whip scaring on his back and the lightsaber mark on his chest.
11. Do they have any notable features, like horns, tails, or so on?
Aside from the slave markings and, I guess, the white hair (not that much of a significant feature when alien races are involved :'D ) he doesn't really have any, no.
12. Own any pets?
Nope, thank the Force, he doesn't have to deal with his daughter's Nexus anymore and he's happier this way.
13. Have any kids?
Yes, his daughter Khatyrkite, that he had at 23 and adopted when she was 7.
14. Can they cook? Can they bake?
No. Let's leave it to that. :’D
15. Can they sing? Can they dance?
They can sing but it's not that easy to make them. They can formally dance with dignity, but not much else. Too rigid.
16. Can they drive?
Yes, but prefers to be driven around.
17. Can they fight?
Yes, double-bladed lightsaber and Force training. When younger he was also quite dangerous bare-handed but he hasn't trained that skill in a while.
18. Have any special keepsakes?
Not really… his lightsaber, I suppose. Old beads for his braid. But he isn't emotionally attached to many of his belongings.
Interests
19. Hobbies
Some not-so-light reading, meditation, napping, listening/going to the Opera.
20. Clothing/Aesthetic
Dark clothing with gold accents, rich reds, furs, and expensive tastes. Sith aesthetic meets some vague Arabian vibes and have a hedonist child.
21. Fave food(s) and drink(s)
He likes finger-foods; salty, small quiches are probably some of his favorites. As a drink he likes fruity and spiced wines, cold or hot.
22. Fave Color
Blood red.
23. Fave Genre
History books.
24. Fave Season
Autumn.
25. City or Country?
He spends enough time in the city working, so country for his relaxing times, but he wouldn't give up the comforts of the City easily.
26. Guilty Pleasure
Power? Witch sometimes turns into sex.
Storytime
27. What’s their family like? Who’s in it? What’s their relationship with them?
Before Muhn his family was basically only his daughter, Khatyrkite, and they were close, despite Illyrio's initial efforts not to be so. She grew on him and managed to slowly but surely make his fear more of an after-though. He didn't want to get attached to someone so easy to love. An alien child with no practical education thrown into the Academy of Korriban? Khatyrkite had to work hard to prove she could do it. And he did make her work, considering it necessary that she could prove and defend herself without her father's title to protect her. They have great affection for each other, even of it's often left unspoken, and even if not as strong as before, they still have their Force bond to prove it, even to each other.
28. Are they literate? Did they go to school? How long? What level?
They are literate, and learned most of his basic knowledge during slave training. The rest he took up keeping company to the young Master during his studies and generally during slave life. Then there was the Sith Academy and then he was taken as an Apprentice and Abraxas finished his education. He learned the rest on the way.
29. What was childhood like?
Not much of a childhood, let's say that. Studies, collars, biological engineering, slave training directed into obedience and alienation to self.
30. What was adolescence like?
Spent serving as a company slave in a high ranking noble family in Ziost. Let's say stunted.
31. What’s their current main conflict?
Finding any peace between overworking and starting to let go but risking losing status/power and a certain state of security born from habit.
32. What steps have they taken to overcome this conflict
Trusting more of his emotional baggage, vulnerability and work on his husband.
33. How have they changed over time?
He has become less.. unstable. Sith training following his slave one had pushed on many of the emotions he had been repressing beforehand, so, well, it made for a powerful Sith, but not much of an emotionally stable individual. He got in touch with more of himself and on what truly he wanted to be for his Muhn.
For Fun
34. What’s their room look like right now?
It's a mix between his rich but organised deco and Muhn's pretty clutter and his plants. Rich, elegant colors overall, generally elegant but comfortable looking, cushions, big bed, big windows, woods, a library. His room is his comfort place, really, and probably one of the rooms he spends more time in aside from his training room and the gardens.
35. What are they like as a friend?
Bad. Bad-ish.
36. What are they like as a partner?
He.. gets better at it, given a little time. >> The sex is good.
37. Do they have any phobias?
They are not fond of deep waters, but can manage them. They detest Force inhibition devices.
38. Did/do they go anywhere special for vacations?
They haven't gone in one in… dam forever. They wouldn't know at this point, really. It's a mix between wanting to be in a place where he wouldn't be recognized and his desire to keep his status and power close.
39. Your character walks into a cafe. What do they order?
Rich, hot, spiced coffee.
40. What time do they go to bed, usually?
Depends, they are very used to an irregular sleep pattern.
41. What’s their morning routine like?
Depending on how much time they have, the very least composes shower and a minimum of beauty care, they usually pick their clothes the day before. They usually snack something quick if they have the time and take a caff or directly a stim, if need be.
42. What’s the dumbest thing your character’s done?
That's not to be discussed here.
43. What pokemon would your character be (if they’re already a pokemon/gijinka tell us what they are, and how that’s affected them)?
I.. don't really know? Struggling between a dark type or simply a snob-looking one.
44. What’s their pokemon team? Try to pick all 6.
Dear Force, so.. Any snake Pokemon is valid and he should have them, this being said :
Arbok
Serperior
Ninetales
Spiritomb
Sableye
Chandelure
+if I may, a couple of legendaries that rule the Sith snake aesthetic :
Zygarde
Shiny Mega Rayquaza
45. Theme song (and a playlist if you’ve got it!)
I will always put "How can I refuse" here, no matter the consequences. :'D
46. If this character was in a musical, what would their motif be (what kind of instruments do you hear, what’s the tempo, ect).
Oh my god, I don't have that knowledge. Something low and a bit fear-inducing, but with a melody of strings, violins and violas, cutting it like the fresh falling of rain in between dark, tempest-heavy clouds. Some quiet, deep, rich drums.
The Deep Lore™
47. What was this character’s biggest turning point in their life, something that changed them almost completely?
Discovering he was Force Sensitive.
48. What was their lowest point? What was their highest point?
Lowest : his years at the Academy. Highest : Becoming a Darth/marrying Muhn.
49. What are some themes tied to your character’s story? I'm sorry, I'm getting too stuck with some of those deep© questions, I'm giving them up for now. :'3
50. What are some motifs associated with your character?
Villainous behavior, hedonism, manipulation, pragmatism, hyper-emotionalism.
51. What were some inspirations for your character (people, movies, games)?
Well, the Inquisitor storyline from STWOR, certainly, tho I didn't end up keeping much of it. Aside from that nothing really comes to mind but I'm sure I'm missing stuff. :/ In six years he has been through stuff.
52. How are you and your character the same? How are you different?
We struggle with other people's expectations and we don't want to be seen as weak or exploitable, I suppose. For how different we are I suppose the rest is pretty more obvious, but, mhn, I blame myself much more quickly, despite my barriers, so, well, instead of killing people I just get sad, I suppose. :'3
53. Expectations vs Reality: what did you expect and what did you get with this character?
I expected a hot, sassy, dark side playthrough. I guess I didn't expect the angst, the fluff and the attachment. :'33
54. What does your character want, and what do they need?
He wants power, but he needs to unlearn what truly gives him value.
55. What’s your character’s core trait? What’s their best trait? What’s their worst trait? When happens when these all interact with each other? see point 49.
56. What’s your overall goal with this character? Will they get a happy ending or will they succumb to their faults?
They.. eh. I don't really believe in endings? People go on, one way or another. He's much more than a simple narrative for me, now. If I were to just see how much he has already done in his life I would say he's in a happier place now, so, I'm glad. But that's not who he is either. It's not about getting him fixed, not really

Tumblr media
1. Age, Birthday, Star Sign
Born in 3678 BBY, the rest is not in my book. :’3
2. Gender Identity
Non-binary/agender, intersex.
3. Orientation and Relationship status (single, taken (by who?), crush (on who?))
Bisexual, kinda taken by Kitty, but it's in the "it's complicated" folder cause we technically didn't even set a meeting point for them. :'D also, precedently entangled with Mikawlas, and generally involved with many other . >>
4. Race and Ethnicity
Togruta. Their faceclaim-ish is Ezra Miller, so some ethnic inspiration there.
5. Height and Body type
They are 1m81 aka 5'11". They are slender with some athletic features, especially on the abdominal area.
6. Headcanon VA
I have no clue. :'D I'm sorry.
7. Occupation
Went from sex worker to owner of the Golden Rose Pleasure Center.
8. Weapon of Choice(?)
Sniper Rifle. They don't really consider their body or their pleasure expertise a weapon, no matter its potentialities.
9. Hometown and current residence
Grew up in a Coruscanti orphanage, now resides on Nar Shadda.
10. Do they have any markings, piercings or scars?
Aside from their natural Togruta markings, nope, and if they were to get them/had got them in the past, wouldn't hesitate to have them removed.
11. Do they have any notable features, like horns, tails, or so on?
Lekku and Montrals? :'D they are curved in the front so they do catch the eye.
12. Own any pets?
No. They didn't have the position for one for a long time and then never really gotten to it. Probably scared they would do a bad job taking care of one.
13. Have any kids?
Nope.
14. Can they cook? Can they bake?
They can't really, no. :'3 they can manage a survivalist meal but they essentially rely on other to get food.
15. Can they sing? Can they dance?
They can't really sing, but it's not a passion of their so they never really did any practice worth of it. They can dance, but only a selection of simple things, essentially for their job. They don't mind dancing casually, and are pretty good at it. At least, they are pretty to look at doing so.
16. Can they drive?
They can, they shouldn't, but they can. :'D
17. Can they fight?
They are better at ranged combat, but they can throw a hell of a fight nonetheless.
18. Have any special keepsakes?
I'm not sure if they have anything of Mikawlas, or even of their orphanage life.. they spent too much time on the street, if they managed to salvage something during those years it would certainly be a precious possession for them.
Interests
19. Hobbies
Taking care of themself with beauty products or with a mani-pedi is a luxury they couldn't afford for a long time and it does marvels to their mood so they indulge in gladly it when they have some me time. Also they have a sometimes strained relationship with their looks, so making themself pretty makes them happy. Aside from that they like simple pad games, to run and spend some time in shooting ranges.
20. Clothing/Aesthetic
They like shiny, they like precious fabrics, gold, their heels, shorts, skirts and dresses, some fashionable frills and classy, eye-catching outfits.
21. Fave food(s) and drink(s)
They like experimental foods, jellies and escargots the most probably. If they could only drink vodka and lemon sprite they would. Also champagne.
22. Fave Color
Rose Gold.
23. Fave Genre
Detective/crime stories.
24. Fave Season
They haven't experienced much of those, living mostly in ecumenopolises, so, if it's not artificial weather they probably would have complaints one way or another. Something temperate I suppose, late spring.
25. City or Country?
City.
26. Guilty Pleasure
Aside from sex? Mhn. The thrill of the hunt, maybe. But both of those things have been incorporated in jobs for a long time, so, well, aside from having a particular relationship with both, defining them "guilty" pleasures is complicated. I guess they like being pampered, sexually or not, so there's that.
Storytime
27. What’s their family like? Who’s in it? What’s their relationship with them?
They don't have a family, nor good memories from the orphanage, so, probably the closest they got to family was, first, at Madame's institute, where they really come in touch with a positive collective/community. They started coming in touch with themself and with others in a way that was more than family than ever before. Of course they wanted to rebuild that with the Golden Rose, even if it became with times more "officious" with the number of workers and clients and regulations that came with it. But they do want people to feel safe with the Rose, and want them to feel at least a little bit like family.
28. Are they literate? Did they go to school? How long? What level?
They are literate, and studied at the orphanage until they left, so, they are not very knowledgeable after that. They didn't continue studies, only tried to pick up some decent bases to start being more independent after Madame picked them up. They worked hard to be functional as owner of the Golden Rose, and that's where they are at.
29. What was childhood like?
They weren't very happy at the orphanage, didn't felt like they belonged. It ended up with them running away, so...
30. What was adolescence like?
A mix between rebellious orphanage life, naive Nar Shadda and bling/bling fascination and the basically spoiled, responsibility-free life as a Crime Lord doll. It was.. maybe not as practically formative as it could have, overall.
31. What’s their current main conflict? I'm sorry, I'm getting too stuck with some of those deep© questions, I'm giving them up for now. :'3
32. What steps have they taken to overcome this conflict? see above
33. How have they changed over time?
They became more self-aware, more conscious of themself and their choices. More independent, and such, with a bigger presence, allowing them to also create better and stronger bonds with people. With a helping hand they started shedding all the bad preconceptions they had on their life, even if it really took years and years to come to terms with some truth about themself and their past, but well, they got back on their feet. Now they have a house, they pay bills, they own and handle a host house that oversees many people that Apate wants to protect. So, well, I can't really tell how they changed, cause they didn't, not really. It was still them, all along, but I guess they own themself a bit more every day.
For Fun
34. What’s their room look like right now?
It's a pretty big room, but essentially on the minimalist side. Very clean and shiny, with its marble floors and big window on the High District. It's not cluttered and Apate doesn't spend that much time in it, but when they do they find it more peaceful for it to be essential but pretty and expensive looking in its decor and composition.
35. What are they like as a friend?
Devoted, sometimes harsh and too up-front, but also generous and affectionate.
36. What are they like as a partner?
They haven't had much experience in that field yet, so, maybe, distant, even if not on purpose. They are not really used to the practicality of building ties so ever-present and strong, they are still very much used to deal with things on their own. But very sweet, very tactile, very inquisitive, playful.
37. Do they have any phobias?
Of losing themself in someone's idea of them. Again.
38. Did/do they go anywhere special for vacations?
They haven't taken a vacation in ages, they want to quite bad. Anything different from Nar Shadda would be welcome, but they probably want the pampering vacation treatment. They do have an affinity for water, because of their ex, so maybe somewhere they could swim a bit.
39. Your character walks into a cafe. What do they order?
Everyday something different, they don't like caff but drinks it daily so spicing things up is their way. Now it's usually Terjam that buys caff for them, so they enjoy being surprised.
40. What time do they go to bed, usually?
It depends, the Rose usually "opens" late in the morning and closes later at night, but it depends if there are events or not, and if Apate has plans or not. They are more akin to the night life, and Nar Shadda Never really sleeps, so it's not unusual for them and some friends to have late evening shopping sprees or date nights or such. It will depend on how much work there had been during the day.
41. What’s their morning routine like?
They take their time. They wake up slow and then stretch and drink water and then shower, quick breakfast with either milk/yogurt/sweet cheese and some fruits while listening to radio/the news, and then make up and dressing up and then to the Golden Rose where they take a coffee and some pastries with Terjam before starting work around 10:00.
42. What’s the dumbest thing your character’s done?
Thinking it was a good idea to escape to Nar Shadda with no money or friends or knowledge of the city at the peak of 15 years old.
43. What pokemon would your character be (if they’re already a pokemon/gijinka tell us what they are, and how that’s affected them)?
Zughhh... Tsareena.
44. What’s their pokemon team? Try to pick all 6.
Shiny Goldeen
Gorebyss
Mega Diancie
Mega Altaria
Alola Ninetails
Sylveon
45. Theme song (and a playlist if you’ve got it!)
I don't really have one, ahh… Lady Gaga-ish feelings, but not as "hard".
46. If this character was in a musical, what would their motif be (what kind of instruments do you hear, what’s the tempo, ect).
Mhn, something lively and clear, but with a solid accompaniment, like some piano. Maybe a discrete but deep beat underneath, like almost a techno base.
The Deep Lore™
47. What was this character’s biggest turning point in their life, something that changed them almost completely?
There's been two. One when Mikawlas died, and Apate found themself mourning, furious, hurt and dependent on the little skills they had to survive from there on. The second was when Madame picked them up and helped them detox and then got them back on their way to manage themself independently and redefine boundaries in a way that could better connect them to themself and a thriving comfort zone.
48. What was their lowest point? What was their highest point?
Apate almost lost themself, and skipped many steps of their emotional and practical development growing up in not-so-healthy environments. They never really had a family, they rushed and yet mellowed through their adolescence without any real friends of their age, they suffered a big loss pretty young and then started living off favours and on the street without really a support and foundation to evolve.
Then they got back to their feet, and found their ambitious drive again, and created the Golden Rose and wasn't that just *chef kiss*.
49. What are some themes tied to your character’s story?
Former drug addiction, stunt in personal growth and past trauma being overcome, sex work and its relation to their own sex drive and desire, curiosity and extroversion, sex positivism, grooming, fashion and beauty care.
50. What are some motifs associated with your character?
Unsuspected assassin, Diva, fashion expert, sexy and capable, sass master.
51. What were some inspirations for your character (people, movies, games)?
Mhnhnjnnnn I dunno. There are pieces here and there but.. nothing that flashes in my mind.
52. How are you and your character the same? How are you different?
We like shiny things. They can pull it off.
53. Expectations vs Reality: what did you expect and what did you get with this character?
A character for smutty action, and I kinda got myself into angst but also a more vivacious and free-willed character I expected.
54. What does your character want, and what do they need?
They want the Golden Rose to thrive, they probably need a vacation.
55. What’s your character’s core trait? What’s their best trait? What’s their worst trait? When happens when these all interact with each other? see point 31
56. What’s your overall goal with this character? Will they get a happy ending or will they succumb to their faults?
Same as Illy's point.

Willow, all of them!
….I ran out of steam so I skipped a few, oops
1: What’s your OC’s biggest insecurity and how would they react if someone pointed it out to them?
So. Willow can fall asleep anywhere. She also snores. A lot. She’ll glare at people if they mention it, and most of those on their train had learned to just not mention it.It’s not really her biggest insecurity, but… it’s all I can think of rn lol
2: If your OC wants to buy a firearm, what it might be for?
General protection? no-bombs au Willow wouldn’t really think of having one, but uh… It’s just part of the job
3: Does your OC behave differently around different people, if so with whom and how?
Sorta? It’s more situation-dependent than anything - Rush, she has “work mode” and “my dumbass husband” mode. Coworkers? Work mode vs shooting the breeze, etc., etc. At first, in Prosperity, she treats them as she did the residents of all the other settlements they’ve been to, but as she warms up to them, she opens up and treats them as family.
4: Would your OC want to involve themselves in humanitarian work ? If yes, then for what? If not, then why not?
….I think that’s basically what her job with Rush is, lol.  She wants to help rebuild her country, and at least attempt to bring some semblance of normalcy to peoples lives.
5: How would your OC generally react to someone being verbally abusive towards them for no apparent reason?
If it’s someone she has to work with? She ignores it. Someone she’ll never see again, or an antagonist of some sort? They miiiight end up getting snapped or yelled at.
6: Does your OC have a realistic image of their own intelligence?
She downplays it a bit - she’s a little self-concious of not having been able to finish school, even though she knows that’s the reality for many nowadays.
7: Does your OC have any irrational phobias?
Snakes. She really hates snakes.
8: How is/was your OC’s relationship with their parents?
She’s close with both of them, and being so far from both of them is hard on her.
9: Does your OC feel a pressure to achieve or are they content and calm with doing what they can at the moment?
She’s somewhere in between? She wants to do well, and protect as many as she can, but she also knows that this is what she likes doing, this is what she’s good at, etc.
10: Does your OC guard their emotions by being tough? If not how would they?
To those who don’t know her? Yeah. She gives vague answers for emotional or loaded questions, and generally has closed-off body language. Once she starts warming up to people, though, she is pretty open about how she feels about any given thing.
11: How would your OC react to hearing they’re adopted?
Surprised, but assuming her adoptive parents are still the ones that I have as her parents (if that makes sense), she still views her adoptive parents as her parents.
12: What is one of the most primary things your OC feels that is missing from their life?
Aside from everything from before the apocalypse lol - her parents. They’re still alive, but she misses being able to see them every day. She wishes she could have Mila with her, as well, but neither her or Thomas think it’s a good idea for her to be with them when they’re working.
Oh, and a dog. She wants a dog.
13: What kind of situations does your OC avoid the most?
Anything that could be a setup - fighting related or not
14: If your OC gets into a fight with their best friend, would they wait for their friend to make up with them, or would they try to make up with their friend?
She’d wait, and if the friend hadn’t approached her first after a certain amount of time, she’d go and try and make up with them herself.
15: Does your OC consider themselves a good person?
Not really, but she thinks that she tries her best.
16: Is your OC good at giving others validation of their feelings and making them feel understood?
She tries
17: Does your OC suffer from any mental health issues?
Some PTSD and anxiety related to the years in the bunker, but other than that, not really.
20: Does your OC hurt others often unintentionally? If yes, how? / 21: Does your OC hurt others often intentionally? If yes, how?
Putting these together: Both are part of the job in her mind - sometimes she doesn’t realise she’s offending someone, sometimes she purposefully does it.
22: How does your OC usually show affection? Are they openly romantic or more restricted with their affectionate emotions?
See 10 - she’s more reserved around people she doesn’t know, but in private? She’s super affectionate with Thomas and loves giving Mila piggyback rides.
23: Does your OC tend to hide something about their personality/essence when meeting new people? If yes, what?
She’s a giant softie
24: How would your OC react if they got humiliated by someone in a group of people?
Try and keep a straight face, and ignore the person.
25: How would your OC process the grief caused by the death of a loved one?
She throws herself into her work, and processes it when there’s nothing else to to.
26: What is the most intense thing your OC has been battling with?
The Highwaymen lol

All of Them. All Of The Questions.
The fool here was I. These are gonna be about Seine.
1: What’s your OC’s biggest insecurity and how would they react if someone pointed it out to them?
I think Seine’s biggest fear is not being enough, not hitting this invisible standard set for him. I almost want to say he it constantly flirting with a need for perfection. Everything must be in its place and he must be correctly in his. If this were to be pointed out to him it would probably go over his head in a sense that its so tangled up with him that he wouldn’t get its negative impact. It’s the way it’s always been for him.
2: If your OC wants to buy a firearm, what it might be for?
To end something quickly and efficiently.
3: Does your OC behave differently around different people, if so with whom and how?
To friendly acquaintances he tries to carry himself with dignity and treat them with a formal respect. Everyone is his equal but he has an almost bodyguard like mentality about it. He may converse but it will be short and often to the point.
He’s about the same with those ‘closer’ to him but they may be able to find his smile and he tends to be a lot more relaxed around them. He tends to watch his words less though there is still a grasp at formality.
With his husband he is the most relaxed and more likely to speak what is on his mind. He tends to visibly light up when the other man is around and it’s much easier to see the start of a smile pulling at his features.
4: Would your OC want to involve themselves in humanitarian work ? If yes, then for what? If not, then why not?
Yes I think he would try and aid those struck by disaster, though in the world of dnd I think he’d be much more likely to try and end the source of disaster unless it was natural. A head of the snake kinda guy but this does not mean he would deny helping those struck by it.
5: How would your OC generally react to someone being verbally abusive towards them for no apparent reason?
He wouldn’t understand what was going on. He’d try and see if there was truth to what was said but depending on what was said it probably wouldn’t have a huge effect on Seine.
6: Does your OC have a realistic image of their own intelligence?
He’s a bit hammer meets nail to everything and so he may miss his int on that sense but he also well aware he doesn’t understand emotional intelligence.
7: Does your OC have any irrational phobias?
No idea. If he did I think he’d be one of those people that force themselves to face it because his will to be the best is stronger.
8: How is/was your OC’s relationship with their parents?Complicated, he resents them without realizing it. He respects them as his parents and would do nothing untoward to them. He is to his best abilities the perfect son they wished him to be.
9: Does your OC feel a pressure to achieve or are they content and calm with doing what they can at the moment?
He’s gotta be the very best or at the very least he must do his best at all times. There is a general sense of pressure in that but he’s not really in a panic about it. It’s more like an expression of will.
10: Does your OC guard their emotions by being tough? If not how would they?
Kinda? More its that he’s always guarded them by not acknowledging, relating or understanding them.
11: How would your OC react to hearing they’re adopted?
It would explain a lot and his upbringing would make more sense. Unsurprising his initial reaction would be next to nothing. I think if he was able to actually processes things normally he would be sad but have a reason for why things were the way they were.
12: What is one of the most primary things your OC feels that is missing from their life?
Husbando! On a more deeper level perhaps the ability to just let go to just be without some goal or something to be related to. He doesn’t know how to simply exist.
13: What kind of situations does your OC avoid the most?
Emotional situations, he is ill equipped to handle them and will quickly look at it in a problem and solution like manner or he will have nothing to offer at all.
14: If your OC gets into a fight with their best friend, would they wait for their friend to make up with them, or would they try to make up with their friend?
Depends on what its about and who Seine believes is in the wrong. He may placate but without actually addressing any underlying issues. Though if it is an error on his end he will probably be the first to attempt a reconnect.
15: Does your OC consider themselves a good person?
Yes or at the very least he doesn’t see himself as a bad person.
16: Is your OC good at giving others validation of their feelings and making them feel understood?
No, nope.
17: Does your OC suffer from any mental health issues?
Kinda.  I’m not gonna answer this one on the good ole tumbledotcom but conclusions can be made for this.
18: What kind of interpersonal values does your OC have? (values about their self, what makes them feel like a valid person).
He wants to be the rock in the room and if people count on him for that then he is valid.
19: What boosts your OC’s confidence the most?
Killing a powerful foe. It means he’s getting closer to his ultimate goal of being a champion.
20: Does your OC hurt others often unintentionally? If yes, how?
His emotional issues make it easy for him to accidentally hurt people.
21: Does your OC hurt others often intentionally? If yes, how?
If you are in his way or an enemy he will stop at nothing to destroy you with his glaive or sword.
22: How does your OC usually show affection? Are they openly romantic or more restricted with their affectionate emotions?
Seine is undoubtedly restricted with his affections. For people he gets on with he tend to hand near them like a cat. For romantic interests he’s also generally subdued but he is more likely to invade personal space or just hang very close if not touching.
23: Does your OC tend to hide something about their personality/essence when meeting new people? If yes, what?
His whole ass personality.
24: How would your OC react if they got humiliated by someone in a group of people?
Threaten/attack them if feasible and quite possibly threaten or attack them in its not. Though it depends on where it is because some of his upbringing would get in the way of him decking the lord of a manor in the middle of a party but he’d certainly want to.
25: How would your OC process the grief caused by the death of a loved one?
Seine would shut down and return to the empty and emotionlessness he knows. It would be hard to reach him and he would basically become a robot.
26: What is the most intense thing your OC has been battling with?
Facing his emotions and trying to actually parse them.
27: Does your OC practise any kind of escapism? If yes, what kind?
I don’t think so.
28: How would your OC react if a bully stole their lunch money in high school?
Bold of you to assume it would be stolen in the first place without great bodily harm on both sides. Though if this was when he was actually a child he wouldn’t react at all. It would be like it didn’t happen.
29: How does your OC behave on the face of a conflict?
Find source, defeat it, profit. Unless it’s talking, then let someone else do that and back up if needed.
30: What makes your OC defensive quickest?
Threatening those he sees under his protection. I’m not sure what would make him verbally defensive

Is there a link between anxiety and alcoholism?
Data Management and Visualization
Bill Sutherland
The connection between anxiety disorders and alcoholism
STEP 1: Choose a data set that you would like to work with.
NESARC Wave 1
STEP 2. Identify a specific topic of interest I have an interest in researching which how anxiety disorders may correlate with alcohol abuse.
I’m interested because my kids’ mother is an alcoholic and I want to understand which factors may contribute to abusing alcohol. If I can discover the correlations, then I can be mindful about teaching skills to my kids that might help them avoid abusing alcohol
I think my first challenge is going to be creating a subset of respondents who meet the criteria of an alcoholic. The criteria are subjective and open to scrutiny, but I will use the variables available to me to build the subset.
STEP 3. Prepare a codebook of your own. Variables that will make up my subset.
I first want to identify the subset of alcoholics. I will use the variable ALCABDEP12DX (ALCOHOL ABUSE/DEPENDENCE IN LAST 12 MONTHS) and ALCABDEPP12DX (ALCOHOL ABUSE/DEPENDENCE PRIOR TO THE LAST 12 MONTHS).
Tape Location Question Variable = ALCABDEP12DX ALCOHOL ABUSE/DEPENDENCE IN LAST 12 MONTHS 1 ALCABDEPP12DX ALCOHOL ABUSE/DEPENDENCE PRIOR TO THE LAST 12 MONTHS 1
Now I want to identify those people who have experienced anxiety symptoms.
Next, I’d like to know which of those people in my anxiety subset sought treatment for their anxiety.
Next, I’d like to know which of those people in my anxiety subset did not seek treatment.
Next, I’d like to know the correlation between those people who sought treatment for anxiety and those who did not with whether they are in the alcoholic subset.
STEP 4. Identify a second topic that you would like to explore in terms of its association with your original topic.
I’m curious if there’s a link between alcoholism and the type of anxiety experienced. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/anxiety-disorders/index.shtml), there are several types of anxiety. Generalized Anxiety Disorder People with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) display excessive anxiety or worry, most days for at least 6 months, about a number of things such as personal health, work, social interactions, and everyday routine life circumstances. The fear and anxiety can cause significant problems in areas of their life, such as social interactions, school, and work. Generalized anxiety disorder symptoms include: a. Feeling restless, wound-up, or on-edge b. Being easily fatigued c. Having difficulty concentrating; mind going blank d. Being irritable e. Having muscle tension f. Difficulty controlling feelings of worry g. Having sleep problems, such as difficulty falling or staying asleep, restlessness, or unsatisfying sleep
Panic Disorder People with panic disorder have recurrent unexpected panic attacks. Panic attacks are sudden periods of intense fear that come on quickly and reach their peak within minutes. Attacks can occur unexpectedly or can be brought on by a trigger, such as a feared object or situation.
During a panic attack, people may experience:
Heart palpitations, a pounding heartbeat, or an accelerated heartrate
Sweating
Trembling or shaking
Sensations of shortness of breath, smothering, or choking
Feelings of impending doom
Feelings of being out of control
Phobia-related disorders A phobia is an intense fear of—or aversion to—specific objects or situations. Although it can be realistic to be anxious in some circumstances, the fear people with phobias feel is out of proportion to the actual danger caused by the situation or object. People with a phobia: • May have an irrational or excessive worry about encountering the feared object or situation • Take active steps to avoid the feared object or situation • Experience immediate intense anxiety upon encountering the feared object or situation • Endure unavoidable objects and situations with intense anxiety
There are several types of phobias and phobia-related disorders: Specific Phobias (sometimes called simple phobias): As the name suggests, people who have a specific phobia have an intense fear of, or feel intense anxiety about, specific types of objects or situations. Some examples of specific phobias include the fear of: • Flying • Heights • Specific animals, such as spiders, dogs, or snakes • Receiving injections • Blood
Social anxiety disorder (previously called social phobia): People with social anxiety disorder have a general intense fear of, or anxiety toward, social or performance situations. They worry that actions or behaviors associated with their anxiety will be negatively evaluated by others, leading them to feel embarrassed. This worry often causes people with social anxiety to avoid social situations. Social anxiety disorder can manifest in a range of situations, such as within the workplace or the school environment. Agoraphobia: People with agoraphobia have an intense fear of two or more of the following situations: • Using public transportation • Being in open spaces • Being in enclosed spaces • Standing in line or being in a crowd • Being outside of the home alone People with agoraphobia often avoid these situations, in part, because they think being able to leave might be difficult or impossible in the event they have panic-like reactions or other embarrassing symptoms. In the most severe form of agoraphobia, an individual can become housebound.
Separation anxiety disorder: Separation anxiety is often thought of as something that only children deal with; however, adults can also be diagnosed with separation anxiety disorder. People who have separation anxiety disorder have fears about being parted from people to whom they are attached. They often worry that some sort of harm or something untoward will happen to their attachment figures while they are separated. This fear leads them to avoid being separated from their attachment figures and to avoid being alone. People with separation anxiety may have nightmares about being separated from attachment figures or experience physical symptoms when separation occurs or is anticipated. Selective mutism: A somewhat rare disorder associated with anxiety is selective mutism. Selective mutism occurs when people fail to speak in specific social situations despite having normal language skills. Selective mutism usually occurs before the age of 5 and is often associated with extreme shyness, fear of social embarrassment, compulsive traits, withdrawal, clinging behavior, and temper tantrums. People diagnosed with selective mutism are often also diagnosed with other anxiety disorders. STEP 5. Add questions/items/variables documenting this second topic to your personal codebook.
My goal with this second question is to categorize the variables into anxiety disorders. Generalized Anxiety Disorder Tape Location Question Values S9Q1A EVER HAD 6+ MONTH PERIOD FELT TENSE/NERVOUS/WORRIED MOST OF TIME Yes = 1 S9Q1B EVER HAD 6+ MONTH PERIOD FELT VERY TENSE/NERVOUS/WORRIED MOST OF TIME ABOUT EVERYDAY PROBLEMS Yes = 1 S9Q31 IN WORST PERIOD, EVER WORRY A LOT ABOUT THINGS YOU USUALLY DIDN'T WORRY ABOUT Yes = 1
Panic Disorder Tape Location Question Values S6Q1 HAD PANIC ATTACK, SUDDENLY FELT FRIGHTENED/OVERWHELMED/NERVOUS AS IF IN GREAT DANGER BUT WERE NOT Yes = 1 S6Q3 THOUGHT WAS HAVING HEART ATTACK, BUT DOCTOR SAID JUST NERVES OR PANIC ATTACK Yes = 1 S6Q61 HAD TROUBLE CATCHING BREATH, FELT SHORT OF BREATH, FELT LIKE SMOTHERING Yes = 1
Phobia Disorder Tape Location Question Values S7Q1 EVER HAD STRONG FEAR OR AVOIDANCE OF SOCIAL SITUATION Yes = 1 S7Q2 HAD FEAR/AVOIDANCE OF SOCIAL SITUATION DUE TO FEAR OF EMBARRASSMENT AT WHAT YOU MIGHT SAY/DO AROUND OTHERS Yes = 1 S7Q3 HAD FEAR/AVOIDANCE OF SOCIAL SITUATION DUE TO FEAR OF BECOMING SPEECHLESS, HAVING NOTHING TO SAY OR SAYING SOMETHING FOOLISH Yes = 1
STEP 6. Perform a literature review to see what research has been previously done on this topic. Use sites such as Google Scholar (http://scholar.google.com) to search for published academic work in the area(s) of interest. Try to find multiple sources and take note of basic bibliographic information.
The relationship between anxiety disorders and alcohol use disorders: A review of major perspectives and findings paper discusses the comorbidity between anxiety and alcoholism. - Matt G Kushner, Kenneth Abrams, Carrie Borchardt https://doi.org/10.1016/s0272-7358(99)00027-6 Link
Abstract It is generally agreed that problems related to alcohol use and anxiety tend to occur within the same individual (“comorbidity”); however, the cause of this association remains controversial. Three prominent perspectives are that anxiety disorder promotes pathological alcohol use, that pathological alcohol use promotes anxiety disorder and that a third factor promotes both conditions. We review laboratory, clinical, family, and prospective studies bearing on the validity of these explanatory models. Findings converge on the conclusion that anxiety disorder and alcohol disorder can both serve to initiate the other, especially in cases of alcohol dependence versus alcohol abuse alone. Further, evidence from clinical studies suggests that anxiety disorder can contribute to the maintenance of and relapse to pathological alcohol use. Relying heavily on pharmacological and behavioral laboratory findings, we tentatively propose that short-term anxiety reduction from alcohol use, in concert with longer-term anxiety induction from chronic drinking and withdrawal, can initiate a vicious feed-forward cycle of increasing anxiety symptoms and alcohol use that results in comorbidity.
STEP 7. Based on your literature review, develop a hypothesis about what you believe the association might be between these topics. Be sure to integrate the specific variables you selected into the hypothesis.
I hypothesize that those people who did not seek treatment for their anxiety have a higher chance of becoming an alcoholic.

How to build your creative confidence | David Kelley
Tumblr media
Translator: Timothy Covell Reviewer: Morton Bast I desired to speak to you at present about inventive self belief. I’m going to method back in the 0.33 grade at Oakdale tuition in Barberton, Ohio. I recall someday my exceptional buddy Brian was working on a assignment. He used to be making a horse out of the clay our teacher saved underneath the sink. And at one point, one of the most women that was once sitting at his desk, seeing what he used to be doing, leaned over and mentioned to him, "that’s horrible. That doesn’t look anything like a horse." And Brian’s shoulders sank. And he wadded up the clay horse and he threw it back within the bin. I not ever noticed Brian do a venture like that ever again. And i ponder how in most cases that happens, you recognize? It looks as if when I tell that story of Brian to my category, a number of them want to come up after type and inform me about their equivalent expertise, how a trainer shut them down, or how a scholar was above all cruel to them. And then some style of opt out of considering of themselves as creative at that point. And that i see that opting out that happens in childhood, and it moves in and becomes extra ingrained, even, by the time you get to adult lifestyles. So we see quite a lot of this. When now we have a workshop or when now we have consumers in to work with us side by using part, eventually we get to the point within the method that’s sort of fuzzy or unconventional. And finally, these giant-shot executives whip out their BlackBerrys and they say they must make fairly important phone calls, and they head for the exits. And they’re just so uncomfortable. When we monitor them down and ask them what’s going on, they are saying anything like, "i am simply now not the inventive form." but we know that is now not proper. If they stick with the system, in the event that they stick with it, they become doing amazing matters. And they shock themselves at simply how innovative they and their groups particularly are. So i’ve been looking at this worry of judgment that we’ve got, that you do not do things, you are afraid you’re going to be judged; if you don’t say the correct ingenious factor, you’re going to be judged. And that i had a fundamental breakthrough, when I met the psychologist Albert Bandura. I do not know if Albert Bandura, however in the event you go to Wikipedia, it says that he’s the fourth most important psychologist in history — you understand, like Freud, Skinner, someone and Bandura. (Laughter) Bandura is 86 and he nonetheless works at Stanford. And he’s only a beautiful man. So I went to look him, considering he’s simply labored on phobias for a long time, which i am very occupied with.He had developed this manner, this, type of, methodology, that ended up curing men and women in an extraordinarily brief period of time, like, in 4 hours. He had a tremendous healing rate of men and women who had phobias. And we talked about snakes — I do not know why — we pointed out snakes and worry of snakes as a phobia. And it was quite enjoyable, fairly fascinating. He instructed me that he’d invite the test discipline in, and he’d say, "you already know, there’s a snake in the next room and we’re going to go in there." To which, he mentioned, most of them answered, "Hell no! I’m no longer entering into there, most likely if there is a snake in there." but Bandura has a step-by means of-step method that used to be super victorious. So he’d take humans to this two-approach replicate watching into the room the place the snake was. And he’d get them comfy with that. Then by way of a sequence of steps, he’d move them they usually’d be standing in the doorway with the door open, and they’d be looking in there. And he’d get them at ease with that. And then many more steps later, little one steps, they’d be within the room, they’d have a leather glove like a welder’s glove on, and so they’d finally touch the snake. And after they touched the snake, the whole lot was great. They have been cured. Correctly, the whole thing used to be higher than satisfactory. These men and women who had lifelong fears of snakes have been saying things like, "look how wonderful that snake is." and so they had been holding it in their laps. Bandura calls this approach "guided mastery." i like that time period: guided mastery. And something else happened. These persons who went through the method and touched the snake ended up having much less anxiousness about different things of their lives. They tried harder, they persevered longer, they usually were more resilient within the face of failure. They only won a brand new self assurance. And Bandura calls that confidence "self-efficacy," the feel that you could alternate the world and that you could acquire what you set out to do.Well, meeting Bandura was once quite cathartic for me, given that i noticed that this noted scientist had documented and scientifically validated some thing that we have seen occur for the last 30 years: that we could take persons who had the worry that they weren’t ingenious, and we would take them by means of a sequence of steps, kind of like a sequence of small successes, and they turn worry into familiarity. And they shock themselves. That transformation is strong. We see it on the d.Tuition always. Persons from all exclusive forms of disciplines, they suppose of themselves as handiest analytical. And they are available in and they go through the procedure, our process, they construct self assurance and now they consider of themselves differently. They usually’re thoroughly emotionally serious about the truth that they walk around considering of themselves as a inventive character. So I suggestion probably the most matters i’d do today is take you via and exhibit you what this trip appears like. To me, that ride looks like Doug Dietz. Doug Dietz is a technical person. He designs giant medical imaging gear. He is worked for GE, and he is had a extremely good career. However at one factor, he had a moment of predicament. He used to be within the health facility watching at one of his MRI machines in use, when he noticed a young family, and this little woman. And that little lady was crying and was terrified. And Doug was relatively dissatisfied to study that nearly eighty percentage of the pediatric patients in this sanatorium had to be sedated in an effort to maintain his MRI desktop. And this was once really disappointing to Doug, due to the fact that earlier than this time, he was pleased with what he did. He was saving lives with this laptop. However it fairly hurt him to look the worry that this machine induced in children. About that time, he used to be on the d.Tuition at Stanford taking courses. He was once learning about our procedure, about design considering, about empathy, about iterative prototyping. And he would take this new competencies and do some thing rather distinctive. He would redesign the whole experience of being scanned. And that is what he came up with.(Laughter) He became it into an journey for the youngsters. He painted the partitions and he painted the computing device, and he received the operators retrained via people who understand children, like kid’s museum humans. And now when the child comes, it’s an experience. They usually talk to them concerning the noise and the movement of the ship. And after they come, they are saying, "adequate, you are going to enter the pirate ship, but be very nonetheless, for the reason that we do not need the pirates to find you." And the results had been super dramatic: from whatever like eighty percent of the kids desiring to be sedated, to something like 10 percentage of the youngsters desiring to be sedated. And the medical institution and GE were completely satisfied, too, because you did not ought to call the anesthesiologist at all times, and so they might put more children by way of the computer in a day. So the quantitative results have been first-class. However Doug’s outcome that he cared about have been far more qualitative. He used to be with some of the mothers waiting for her little one to come out of the scan. And when the little girl got here out of her scan, she ran up to her mother and said, "Mommy, can we come back tomorrow?" (Laughter) And so, I’ve heard Doug inform the story typically of his individual transformation and the breakthrough design that happened from it, however I’ve on no account really seen him inform the story of the little woman with out a tear in his eye. Doug’s story takes situation in a health center.I do know a factor or two about hospitals. A couple of years in the past, I felt a lump on the side of my neck. It was my flip within the MRI computing device. It used to be melanoma, it used to be the dangerous form. I was once advised I had a 40 percent hazard of survival. So even as you are sitting around with the opposite sufferers, on your pajamas, and everyone’s pale and skinny — (Laughter) you know? — and you are waiting in your flip to get the gamma rays, you feel of quite a few matters.Ordinarily, you think about: Am I going to outlive? And i notion lots about: What used to be my daughter’s existence going to be like without me? But you feel about other matters. I notion lots about: What was I put on the planet to do? What was once my calling? What will have to I do? I used to be fortunate seeing that I had lots of choices. We might been working in well being and wellness, and k-12, and the establishing world. So there were plenty of projects that I could work on. However then I made up our minds and dedicated at this factor, to the thing I most desired to do, which used to be to help as many folks as possible regain the inventive self belief they misplaced along their approach. And if I was once going to survive, that is what I desired to do. I survived, simply so you know. (Laughter) (Applause) I particularly feel that when folks acquire this self assurance — and we see it all the time at the d.College and at IDEO — that they truly start engaged on the things which can be relatively important in their lives. We see persons quit what they may be doing and go in new recommendations. We see them come up with extra interesting — and simply more — recommendations, so they are able to choose from higher recommendations. And so they just make better decisions. I do know at TED, you’re speculated to have a transformation-the-world style of factor, isn’t that — everybody has a metamorphosis-the-world thing? If there is one for me, that is it, to support this occur. So i am hoping you can become a member of me on my quest, you as, sort of, notion leaders. It will be really best when you failed to let humans divide the arena into the creatives and the non-creatives, adore it’s some God-given factor, and to have individuals have an understanding of that they are naturally inventive, and that those normal individuals must let their suggestions fly; that they should achieve what Bandura calls self-efficacy, that you can do what you got down to do, and you can attain a position of inventive self assurance and contact the snake.Thanks. Oh, that’s a lot of them 👀  I’ll put them under the cut
5) Ever had a poem or song written about you?
Once, if I recall correctly... My memory fails me... And there was another one written by a friend of mine which she later confessed was about me and the fact that she felt like I was better than her or something like that. Joke’s on her, she got better than me in everything since then, so the poem about me isn’t valid anymore.
6) Do you have any strange phobias?
Nothing in particular, I’m generally unfazed. I used to be afraid of a few things when I was younger but I’ve learned to let it pass like people usually do. That’s not to say I don’t experience a sense of dread (now, that’d be nice), but it’s not connected to specific things.
19) What's your biggest "what if"?
I could write a lot here. What if we found scientific evidence that humans will never be able to truly connect to each other emotionally? What if we’re a few days or weeks away from an apocalypse and we have no idea? What if the Universe isn’t actually infinite and once we reach one seam we’ll end up on the other side like the Snake maps on old Nokias? What if Hell exists and the criteria to go there is completely different than what we think? Mostly, though; what if I just lived and was happy with myself without this shit habit of trying to find sense in everything? The latter is what I wonder about the most. It might be very nice, actually, it’s just never gonna happen.
20) Do you believe in ghosts? How about aliens?
Aliens; probably. Ghosts; not in the form in which we usually imagine them but maybe.
31) Do you tend to hold grudges against people who have done you wrong?
If it’s something petty, I usually let it go very quickly. Sometimes people can’t help but lash out when I’m angering and I can understand that. There is, however, one person that I wish would just fucking die in a way so gruesome that it even exceeds my own imagination. I’d watch them die. If I had the physical and mental capacity, I’d kill them myself. I’d keep a trophy of them in my room and look at it every day if I could. I wonder how they’re doing right now...
58) You just got a free plane ticket to anywhere. You have to depart right now. Where are you gonna go?
...Right now? I’d go to Barcelona. I like the idea of going to Barcelona. Lots of aesthetic, I’ve heard.
