It's so fucking crazy that I got back from working in Oregon for 4 months and now immediately am going to Texas to work for another 2.5 months. I'll have spent a collective 3 whole weeks at home before leaving LMAO

Okay but actually this overlaps with special interest because my love for my tights is to that degree frankly, and I just want to take a minute to plug Snag Tights for plus sized tights. I have the kind of thighs and ass that make the heavens quake and people always recommend Sock Dreams for that but I had horrible experiences with them, almost none of their sock styles actually come in my size and the ones that did were very low quality and got runs immediately (I am told that line has been discontinued to be fair to sock dreams but they still also have like 12 actual socks in my size :|).
Snag. Tights. My guy. It's based out of the UK so shipping was always a nightmare, but they have an American warehouse now that really speeds things along if you're state side. If not? Worth the wait. Worth the shipping. I have owned some of my tights from them for 2+ years now and have YET to get a SINGLE run. I have only ever had ONE pair of tights I was disappointed in from them (a recent run of glitter tights that loses glitter too fast imo), and not for structural issues. I am talking two years of wearing tights almost every day and not a single tear, my man. And they FIT. And they fit WELL. I am a women's size 28 and they go larger than me.
So, yes, this has been ur ad for Snag Tights go buy some treat yourself.

#i just gotta make that specific sort of paladin#it’s me building off of how I want paladins in Ishgard and I want them to be weird about halone and divinity#I wanna toss around concepts of either them being part of the ishgardian religious institutions#or that which one existed as part of the religious institutions but have since taken on a less official and more against the grain approach#building off of how the WoL is a free paladin and that the paladin’s of the Holy See are an antique#relegated to the farthest reaches and people that now serve their own self interests#in polite company they are seen as nothing more than mercenaries with morals#they sit with halone as she is righteous and she is caring. not blind to the sacrifices of war—she knows the torment and suffering#I am also snagging bits from the paladin quests I like#that which is creed and valor are all defined by one’s will#strength and power is vested in conviction and duty#sticking all of that in a blender#but eyrie joins them in their efforts post calamity out in central and western coerthas#more funny practical lore is that they fight with one handed swords—often made of one’s own Aether#not unlike how scholar faeries or carbuncles are created#it’s not alive—it’s a cross between an aetheric blade like Alisaie’s the magicks that fuel carbuncles#oc: eyrie kisne#I want to e corporate reasons for eyrie’s faith in halone and I’m puzzling it out

An interview is a step in the employment process where prospective employers and employees meet to determine suitability. Depending on one's socioeconomic position, the power dynamic might be very lopsided.
If a laborer is desperate for a job, and they are applying for a job in such a class of employers, they can generally expect a miserable experience for a miserable job, as the employer, who has a large supply of potential employees, can force the individual to jump through hoops for a meagre job. A desperate employee will accept a miserable job for lack of a better option.
In the case where the employee has a large number of options available, and where they are in the position to simply decline to jump through hoops, the situation is far more equitable. Both the employer and the employee will quiz the other for suitability, and only should they both agree will employment occur. This is a generally humane an humanizing process.
The miserable reality of supply and demand ensures that only low supply workers are treated fairly, because low supply jobs have an economic incentive to mistreat high supply workers. But individuals with particular skillsets, who aren't desperate to leave their job, who already have enough money potentially, are empowered to have a positive interview experience with a very positive outcome that can only improve their situations. Those who are already in a bad position will have a bad experience that might end in a worse result.
Because more people are in the high supply part, interviews are viewed as negative experiences, especially in subcultures that lack privilege.
remember that interviews are not about giving a good and honest first impression that they'll carefully consider. interviews are about saying the special words and phrases they're looking for that give you points and when they tally those up whoever earned the most job points wins
#period novel details#seriously job hunting is not miserable for rich people#they can do it at their leisure and only leave to get a better job if they want#compared to being forced to take the first option because the grind of capitalism#when unemployment is high job hunting gets worse#but if you have a low supply high demand field interviewing starts to cater to you#this isn't a 'you should have gotten a good degree' because even engineers with the best degree are high supply#compared to people with job experience#but it is a 'rich get richer' situation#if you manage to snag a good job then you sure as hell should pull your peers up with you#employees on the inside giving recommendations MATTER#and if you do get a job unionize to make it less shitty#companies CANNOT jerk around unions the same way they can jerk around individuals
