I am always unsure whether to call myself a clown fucker because I only wish to fuck one clown and he is the Joker. Can I reclaim Clownfucker? Or am I unwelcome in this community?

Unfortunately the Joker isn't a true clown. It's a common misconception that members of his species (jokius smilus) are part of the clown family because they're sophisticated mimics who use the distinct patterning of clowns for their advantage. Most predators are thoroughly discombobulated by the bright warning colors and vivid patterns that clowns sport on their coats. Solitary jokius smilus take advantage of this as (unlike the species they mimic) they have no venom and have few natural defenses. Since the Joker and other members of his species are often mistaken for clowns, a surefire way to tell the difference is that he lacks the whimsy organ (also known as a honkulus, or more commonly as a "clown nose") that truly sets the species apart.

Because of this distinction, I have to say that you aren't a true clownfucker. However, there are lots and lots of clowns out there who would love to be fucked if you ever wish to expand your horizons :o)

Santino - A primal ferus. Obviously named after one and only Santino D'Antonio, and I think he was my favorite king. Also, he was stepbrother with Douglas. I miss you, Santino <3

Celestine - Santino's son. A primal felis. I also loved him so much. I put a lot into his design.

Valiant - He has a mutation, patches vernal and I really loved the way he looked.

Deimos - He was Celestine's son. A primal smilus.

Jupiter - My first queen. She has a mutation piebald harlequin. Really happy with how she looked <3

STI-jee-us, with a short i sound like “is” (so not like “eye”)

i’m thinking his full generic and specific name will be deinostygias smilus, and since he’s a darkner oc based off a single item i own, there aren’t any others like him. so i think that name does just fine as a personal identity. the poll will still determine his commonly used nickname!

i am still debating whether or not he has ears.

So, I've been mass-breeding NCLs in order to get a Felis or Smilus for Burnout or Destiny to mutie-replace into, assuming I don't decide to use whatever Black Friday app I get (because at this point I'm pretty sure I'm getting one).

And I got both today. Which already gives me decisions to make, but additionally:

The Felis popped out with a Rosette of all things. FIERY Rosette at that. I'm definitely not overwriting these markings.

And it's a girl so I have to actually make the decision whether to sex-change her or not.

I don't really want either of these to be canon, so she can't be an heir on her own right.

I'll probably just keep her as a trophy. The only real way I could see for her to be in the king slot is if I marking-replaced a lion in the next generation, and that's too much of a big "if" to be worth using a premium item on.

Still, insane luck!

OK SO !! scientific name meanings first because i um. like those.

Musifelis - mouse-cat

Paralagos - close to hare, like a hare. because the way i draw some slugcats looks rather lagomorph adjacent and i Wanted To

abnormalis - literally just pulled from the word 'abnormal'. based mostly on spears being described as an abnormality

ornithopterix - bird-wing. simple but i like it! the full name would therefore be smth adjacent to 'bird-winged mouse-cat'

aquadromeus - water-runner. because riv is fast, damp, and nicknamed 'water dancer' in-game

lycomimus - wolf mimic, because m. lycomimus looks more 'canine' than the other musifelis species, what with their long face, short ears, and earthier coloring.

cyonops - dog-face, see above ^^

boreosmilus - northern knife. the affix -smilus/smilo- is usually used for sabretoothed creatures (smilodon, thylacosmilus, smilosuchus, etc), hence its usage here

most of these species can be sorted into either 'furred', 'non-furred', or 'purposed'. i imagine that the divergence of furred and non-furred slugcats happened pretty early on, as far as divergence from m. musifelis is concerned! m. aquadromeus probably also diverged from the initial non-furred lineage pretty early on, as evidenced by its general... weirdness, and there are almost certainly other non-furred species not covered here! similarly, m. boreosmilus diverged from the furred lineage early on, but hasn't changed as visibly, outwardly, and drastically as m. aquadromeus, simply because it did not have to! compare to m. lycomimus and m. cyonops, who likely only diverged properly around the start of the ice age, with m. lycomimus adapting to the life of an active endurance predator on the open steppe, while m. cyonops began to live as a swift scavenging creature who likely thrives in rockier, more rugged regions (side note, but the dark stripe patterns around their eyes are to reduce glare from the snow! i imagine that the patterns are not at all consistent from scug to scug, although certain patterns are likely associated with certain families because of how. genetics works)
