The Parade Scene: Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) by Film Studies Fundamentals
Well, I did an entire post on Thursday about my "Smiler Alton's Day Off" potential AU and how one of the big inspirations was this scene, sooo -- might as well share it! I mean, it's still a hell of an awesome movie moment, isn't it? :)

story time from my recent cosplay event!
i have to talk about this cause it was so whole some
First off me and my group were chilling in this little corner. I had had the official photographer come up to me there. And then another rlly nice photographer who was dressed in a steampunk dress which was cool
but this kid. Who must have been 4 or 5 walked past with his mum dressed as the hulk. And couldn’t stop looking at me. Like he kept tapping his mum. And about 5 minutes later his mum comes up to me and says “I’m rlly rlly sorry to bother you. But could he get a picture with you.” He looked so happy. It made me and my friends smile so much
and then my favourite interaction of the entire day. I was in a hmv and this young miku cosplayer kept looking at me. And I thought. “Oh she must just like the cosplay” but she came up to me and was like “excuse me. Are you cosplaying the smiler”. My autistic ass was literally fucking jumping up and down in excitement. They were so sweet and we had a convo about alton towers. It’s honestly made my month
Tumblr media
blurred their face out of respect. (if you are this miku cosplayer. Your amazing ❤️❤️)

Day one of a surprise Alton Towers trip with my friend!
Alton Towers is a beautiful park, almost to the point where it feels like a stately home and garden that just happens to have rollercoasters. It rained (and hailed!) on and off, but when the sun came through it was a sight to behold.
Unfortunately, operations haven't been their best. Many rides were closed suddenly or all day, and some even broke down while we were queueing. I have been told that it's a significant issue by some of my friends who frequent the park. As someone used to Thorpe Park's great operations, I found it rather disappointing. Alton Towers is an amazing park, I had so much fun last time, but today we missed a lot of rides.
Ah well.... we're headed back there tomorrow.
Ride count:
Nemesis Reborn x1
Oblivion x1
Smiler x1
Galactica x1
Th13teen x2
Blade x1
Congo River Rapids x2
Runaway Mine Train x2

You now what, I like Danger Days, I like Alton Towers, so here’s the Danger Days characters favourite Alton Towers rides (in my opinion)
Jet-Star’s is easily Galactica, and he’s trying to drag everyone back on it for a 6th ride of the day.
Fun Ghoul’s is The Smiler but he’s just genuinely obsessed with the entirety of X-Sector.
The Kobra Kid’s is Rita. (He forgot to take his sunglasses off for the ride and they fell off rip)
I had to think of Party Poison’s for a bit before deciding on Spinball. Look, it’s just so.. them coded. (Yes, I know it is actually generally Sonic Coded but still..)
The Girl’s is the Octonauts Rollercoaster (let this poor child have somewhat a normal childhood okay?)
Dr. Death just holds all their bags he just can’t be asked with rides. He just came for the re-fillable soda cups and to be the Dad
Bonus headcanon:
Cherri Cola threw up on the Run Away Mine Train and said ‘never again’ (Jet keeps dragging him onto Galactica poor fella)

Tumblr media
Here is my version of human Alton Towers.
This version, he is an retired Abyss Hunter, but he still assists the Abyss Watchers and Uri’s Grandmother with helping lost pure soul supernatural creatures to become guardians for anyone who is struggling, the Watchers, or with him in his park, Alton Towers. Of course he wants to make sure if the creature is comfortable enough to not only be around with people, but to help make his park interesting and safe for both worlds.
If the beast refuses, he will allow them to choose their own path with the Watchers or with any Soul who is struggling in life. However, if a beast wish to prove that not all supernatural creatures are not this scary, he will welcome them with open arms.
Those who have been willing to go with him, they will be placed to protect a coaster. Not only forming a mascot for the coaster, this also creating new abilities to those creatures. Whichever ride they’re with, they will gain the ability to mimic the ride’s power or personality. Creating a safe and an actual fun experience for both normal and supernatural worlds, in exchange, Alton makes sure the beasts are protected and safe. If a rogue hunter tries to kill one of the creatures, he will personally fight them off from his park. If there are beasts that are not getting along and on a verge of a Turf War, he will quickly stop them and find the root of the problem… but there were cases where he was too late to stop the fight, and sees one of the Beasts lying dead while the other stood victorious… only for that beast to have their abilities stripped away from them and banished back to the Abyss Watchers.
That sadly never lasted once The Ministry of Joy formed. Bringing Otsana into the picture. Alton was very uncomfortable with the fact he now has a werewolf in his park, but was threatened by MOJ if he doesn’t allow her in, they will take away the X-Sector, permanently. He reluctantly agreed, as Otsana became The Smiler Guard for the ride… he will soon find out it was a horrible mistake.
Charmer, an ex-guardian beast was protecting his Coaster, Wicker Man. Until he noticed Otsana trying to lure a poor soul into the X-Sector, to the Ministry. The former beast told Otsana to back off and leave his area, but the werewolf refused to leave without collecting her subjects.. creating a Turf War. Alton received news that two beasts are now fighting, causing him to worry as he quickly went out to the scene… he didn’t make it in time.
Otsana now had the dying Guard in her jaws, teeth holding Charmer’s neck as he struggled to breathe. Alton was furious, just before he was ready to take Otsana’s powers away, MOJ stopped him and reminded him of there deal. The man felt defeated, as he now watched Otsana freeing Charmer and returned to the Ministry. Alton apologize profusely to Charmer, as healers are doing everything they can to save him… but the wounds were very deep, Charmer asked Alton to find the right beast to take his place and make sure Otsana and the Ministry are burned to ashes. As much as Alton didn’t want to promise such thing, he accepted Charmer’s last wish. He also hated the Ministry, not only they took people away from their families, but they took away a friend to all.
Alton reported to the Watchers, as they understood his pain, frustration, and struggles. Both he and the Watcher secretly hatched a plan to slowly take down the Ministry piece by piece, to make sure not only they have no control over the X-Sector, but strip Otsana’s abilities and permanently banish her. While that, Uri was presented to Alton. Upon seeing her fire like energy and valor for fighting back darkness gave him a small smile, and Uri can see he is in pain, tired, and very defeated under his mask. Gently starting a conversation with the man as he explained what happened, the girl huffed as she formed into a beast. Fur up and spiky with anger, hoping one day to go to his park and fight the werewolf for him.
Uri’s Grandmother saw and heard them talking, soon an idea formed. She looked over to the two as she then spoke to her granddaughter, assigning her to be with Alton, and protect Wicker Man and guests. The two were surprised by this, but Alton was worried that something bad will happen to Uri. Yet the old woman looked unfazed, she has full trust in Uri and Alton. She knows they’re going to be okay, but if something deeply negative and heavy does happen, Alton has to contact his former leader immediately.
After that, Uri was now off with Alton, to protect and fulfill Charmer’s final wish. Looking over to see the Wicker Man Coaster, to this day, she is still impressed. Alton has seen Uri struggle with her assigned coaster, but seeing her and helping her out made her pick up everything quickly. As much it was reliving, it didn’t last as his worst fears came true. Otsana began to fight with Uri.
He raced over to stop the fight, to only see Uri ignite into flames and push back Otsana. She didn’t want to kill her, not only because of the guests, but she can see the Werewolf herself was somewhat in pain. Physically and mentally. Thus the two left each other alone to recover from their fight.
Alton and the healers ran over to inspect Uri, thankfully and thanks to her new fire abilities, her wounds somewhat healed on their own. Deeply relieved, Alton now makes sure to inspect and inform the beasts if they began to fight, they will have to go to him to sort it out or get away from each other. Thankfully, all of them agreed and some began to learn how to get along or left each other alone… the only one who hasn’t agreed was Otsana and the Ministry. To them, this is a test ground to show off their might. Little did they know, that ego of theirs will crumble.
Now Alton makes sure everyone is safe and having a fantastic time, even the beasts make sure to spread that same positive energy to all. Uri would visit Alton to make sure he’s doing well and ask if he needed anything or share information to the other Beasts. Deeply appreciated for her help through a tough time… almost, as he would scold her for trying to set fires to the Ministry and Phalanx.
All in all, he deeply loves his work and helping Pure Hearted Beasts… yet struggled with the binds of the Ministry and Phalanx.
In short with Phalanx: They want to control all of the beasts for government purposes (their purposes), but Alton and the Watchers said “How about you fuck off with that idea.” But professionally. So Alton never assigned a beast to protect Nemesis, fearing that Phalanx would take advantage of them and might do unspeakable harm. Let alone… Nemesis herself IS a beast.
Extra thing: If the coaster is retired, the beast’s power would also fade away. Yet Alton would allow them to stay to help him out or assist with Watchers to fend off darkness. Some stayed as a form of guidance for the newer beasts and some went of to join the watchers.
———————
Writing hurts! But I did it ;w; so yeah, this man has non-threatening monsters in his park to show that both worlds can indeed coexist. Yet there are a few who would love to mess that up. But thanks for his connections, he hopes life would return to normal without the fears of control and Turf Wars. He still spots Otsana and Uri ready to fight each other again, but thankfully he is there to stop the two.
Also, here is him without his hat.
Tumblr media
This man never takes off his mask, unless it’s to wash or sleep, but even if you try, another one will appear lol
Uri and some of the beasts would sometimes play a joke and try to take off his mask, only to find another and another. The only people who had seen him without his mask, was Uri’s grandmother and old retired hunters.
This one was just a layout on how he’ll look like. Gonna now officially make his ref. Might use this pose or make a new one. For now, I hope you enjoy! :D

Week one Recap!
So, end of the week already eh? Crazy, we've already had some pretty neat designs to kick off Coastober this year and there's still some on the way that I'm sure we're all eager to see.
However, today I'm bringing a new feature.
Welcome the Bonus Week Challenge!
This year we'll be testing out a new and very much optional/at your own pace addition for those wanting an extra excuse to flex your skills. At the end of every week of Coastober, there will be a Bonus Week Prompt to be released alongside the weekly recap post!
Bonus Week is for the rides and attractions that didn't make the cut, whether it be due to being dropped for another, not thought about until post-list or was weirdly snapped from the list by my laptop {not even a joke there, Smiler was supposed to be day 7}
Well, now that I've laid the foundations down, you're probably wondering what this week's bonus prompt is?
It's Black Mirror Labyrinth from Thorpe Park!
A rather intruiging case for a scare maze as Labs relied on zero actors, she was all tech and atmosphere! However she unfortunately suffered from an Achilles heel, this being the fact that the typical batching style for mazes really bungled the things that made this maze better than you think.
BML works best the less of you there are, she's a true maze layout rather than a walkthrough layout and so the easier it is to get lost the better. Having a large group size {which was the norm} absolutely ruins this, as the disorientation and distress of going in circles is completely lost!
Anyways, that's your attraction brief. Get already going if you wanna!
Entries for days 1-7
This will be updated as more come through, don't worry if you don't see yours just yet!
The Dungeons Day 1 by @rose-grimm-spirit-does-dumb-shit Day 1 by @inkyusui Day 1 by @cherrykitkat

Good evening trappers who's ready for your daily (this won't be daily) Trapped Towers post 🙏🙏🙏
Today - LOREEE. How Tom got trapped within Alton Towers, aka the start of the story for our protaganist.
We begin on a rainy and windy day, grey clouds blanket the Earth while trees sway madly amongst the gusts. All the while down the narrow roads leading to Alton, a grey truck speeds along - narrowly cutting corners and carelessly hitting bumps along the path. In the car sat Hank Thorpe, his group of friends, and Tom Thorpe - who came along to "prove" he was just as cool as them. Moods aren't high, as Milo's reckless driving has everybody on edge, and Tom's edgy attitude has them wanting to throw him out the car. Alas, they eventually reach their destination - the old entrance to the Alton Towers. It sat just on the edge of the road, a line of no return chalked around it and warnings scattered around the overgrown, rotting, welcome sign. The group admire it for a second, but just as quickly the dares begin. Tom's dared to cross the line of no return, and he accepts but freezes upon reaching it. Dexter, the most mature of the group, goes to Tom and reassures him that he doesn't have to do it. That he has nothing to prove to anyone. Tom's response is cold.
"I have everything to prove"
Dexter backs off, but after a bit longer of waiting - Hank decides to go in and just push his brother across as we cut to black and the story properly begins...
That's the gist of the introduction, at least where the stopping point is considered to be. Anything past this point is Chapter 1, as this is when we'd have a title drop and - if this is to become a game - a switch to the main gameplay art style rather than cutscene style.
I could go way way more into this, over half the script for this section is written and it provides some more in-depth character introductions! Though, for now I just wanted to give a short overview explanation on how it happened. I'll definitely do some character profiles and go into characters soon - but do fully expect a lot of focus on Tom Thorpe for now. I'd love to jump into some I know y'all love - Smiler, Air, Terra. But y'know
Well, that's your Trapped Towers post for the day. Pretty sure I set up an ask page now too - any questions drop them there and I'll answer what I can.
Anyway. Back to uni assignments. Bye byeee !!

I wanna show off my designs for the Alton Towers secret weapons and I don't have a good excuse to do it so I'm just gonna put all the designs, their names and a short bio for each of them in one post, maybe I'll do more with them one day but here they are now.
Some of these bios won't make sense unless you know the Alton Towers lore.
If some of the bios are short that means I need to flesh out the character more.
Nemesis (same name). He's a little chaos gremlin who's not allowed to eat the park visitors. When it came in the park he got tamed (or as tame as they can get) by the people in the park so he can live amongst them.
Tumblr media
Ozzie (Oblivion). He was next in line to be the Lord of darkness but abandoned his plans when he got closer to everyone else in the park. He's friendly, smart, he keeps to himself, and
Tumblr media
Fiona/Gloria (Air/Galactica). She's mellow, fun and currently dating Odin and always pushing him out of his comfort zone. When her ride got turned into Galactica, her name changed to Gloria and it took her a while to get used to the change in her, but she did
Tumblr media
Trisha (Thirteen). Trisha always seems really scary and creepy when you see her at first. But when you meet her and talk to her, you'll find that she's really sweet and wouldn't hurt a fly.
Tumblr media
Sherman (The Smiler). Sherman is meant to be the ambassador of the ministry of joy. He's always trying his best to bring people into the ministry and to prove to Dr Kelman that his methods work just as well as the old methods. Sometimes even at his own expense.
Tumblr media
Flynn (The wicker man). Flynn claims to be the son of the wicker man from his ride, so he's the current leader of the Beornen. He's only ever befriended Trisha and Hex (not included here) and mostly despises all the other secret weapons due to their usage of technology and as he says "lack of understanding or respect of the flames."
Tumblr media
Also I know this is late but I did a thing for Nemesis reborn.
Tumblr media
Anyway that's everyone.

Some of my Unpopular Opinions about theme parks [that I will stand by and have in some cases]
1. Alton Towers is better than Thorpe, in my experience. I went Alton Towers and Thrope Park back to back last year, spending 2 nights and 2 days at Thorpe while visiting Towers with a school trip. The operations at Towers were better, and I am not kidding. When I went Thorpe i went on 2 rides [Swarm and Zodiac] where me and my mum watched and listened to the operators just stood around gossiping about other employees while the rides stood at hour+ queues. And then we tried to do ghost train [got there 30 minutes before it was due to open at 12 cause everything was 90+ mins.] And we waited an hour for that cause the ride broke down and they didn't tell anyone. The reason we could tell was because the line DID NOT MOVE for around 40 minutes and they turned people away from the fasttrack queue. For such a subpar experience me and mum were not bloody happy. Oh also Stealth was closed most of the time and it was in the middle of a 3 week long downtime for Inferno so we had Swarm, TWD, Colossus or Saw to go on. Compared to the day after where all of the rides were pretty consistent at Towers and I managed 3 large-queuetime rides such as Galair, Smiler, and Wickerman. Keeping in mind I missed ropedrop and left an hour earlier. Also all the rides were comfortable unlike 2/3 rides I went on in Thorpe.
Of course I enjoyed Thorpe and can't wait until I'm at uni so I can get a hotel room and do Thorpe + Chessington off-peak. Hyperia looks better than any coaster at Towers, but whoever says Thorpe has the better operations, environment, or lineup is incredibly biased.
2. A phalanx retheme for Galactica would ruin the Entire Fucking Point and would make the ride worse. This comes from the infuriating pov that thrilling = good and not thrilling = bad. In archival photos of the construction of air you can see the ride EXPERIENCE. THE LAYOUT. is based on a sense of victory and being the antithesis to Nemesis. Not the enemy, the FOIL. Air - and therefore Galactica - was created to be a sense of tranquility, removed from conflict. You are literally proposing a change to the ride that would be directly misconstruing the gentle nature of the ride. Isn't 13 hated for literally this exact reason. Like come on now.
3. Bigger=! Better. I was sceptical of Hyperia at first cause the title of "tallest in ___" is usually taken by a rather unimaginative ride with a lack of theming (or themed around cars.) which was created JUST to snag that title. This links in with my idea that Thrill=!good. Most b&m hypers (to my knowledge) are intimidators but not particularly thrilling. And yet, I have not met anyone who calls it a bad ride. Odd, that. Turns out, Hyperia isn't just a title snag and actually brings something new and creative to the table. On the other hand, I dislike rides like Stealth, Red Force, TTD, KingdaKa and anything else from that model on principle. I prefer coasters where the creators clearly had some fun. Where they actually thought about what they were doing.
4. I dont like Oblivion. I have never liked Oblivion. Lore wise? It's quite cool. But it is by far the most overhyped ride. Its a one-trick-pony. "but it does the trick really well!", so does Galactica! 13! Wickerman! But yall don't want to hear about that, you want rides where you can simplify it to something that seems quantifiable. In reality "It has a good drop!" is just as obscene as "It is a decently intense coaster that is not particularly intimidating so its a really good step-up". Or, "it really replicated the feeling of flying and freedom" or "a gentle ride with one relatively shocking element to help younger kids see that the sensations aren't that bad.". When it comes to ranking by my own criteria (taking out my own ride experience as I have not ridden all Towers rides), Oblivion ranks at the bottom of the SWs. Its not that technologically advanced compared to some of the others on lot; its incredibly short; and most of the ride is manufacturing suspense.

What time is it? You guessed it, it’s time to introduce another Alton Towers OC, meet the Smiler!  💛
Smiler of course works for the Ministry of Joy, as well as being a member of Team SW. He has a glass-half-full outlook on life, always tries to see the positive side of situations, and wants nothing more than to make the world a happier place through the power of marmalisation and smiles!
Smiler is incredibly skilled when it comes to science and technology, he has created many innovative ways of bringing joy to people, right down to inventing the structure of his own coaster, planning out each element of the marmaliser to work perfectly as intended. Though he is highly intelligent, he’s not quite as aware of his surroundings socially. He wants to cheer people up in any way he can, and though he means well he can sometimes come off as a little overbearing and has a tendency to be oblivious to other peoples’ emotions. However, his optimism is infectious and his fellow team members are glad to have a positive influence like him around when they seem to be in a hopeless situation. However, though Smiler is usually always happy and well, smiling, he can also become furious if someone tries to mess with his friends and family, and he can’t stand people who get enjoyment out of others’ suffering.
Smiler arrived at Alton Towers in 2013, occupying the space that was once taken by Black Hole. Of course, Oblivion was not thrilled that her dad had been replaced and X-Sector being taken over by some weird organization, so for a while she didn’t want anything to do with Smiler or the Ministry. But once Oblivion and Smiler began to work together on Team SW’s first big mission, they began to develop a solid friendship. Nowadays, grumpy Oblivion gets along much better with her happy-go-lucky neighbour, they have a sibling-like dynamic and a lot of the time get into petty squabbles over silly things but there is no true animosity between them.
Smiler’s power is control of the mind, he can cause just about anyone to go into a mindlessly happy state simply by looking into his eyes, sort of like a Medusa type thing. However this only works on regular humans not other ride guardians, however ride guardians can still be marmalised through other methods. Smiler doesn’t often like to use this power (hence why he always has his goggles on and rarely shows his eyes) , as he prefers to use his own gadgets and technology to solve difficult situations. As a member of Team SW he’s the main morale booster of the group and the others can always count on him to bring a little positivity into even the darkest of days- Even if his methods of creating joy through science are a little bit questionable.

AU Thursday: Smiler Alton’s Day Off
And now, for another edition of “Me Vs. My Brain:”
Me: [asks my friend Nebby for some ideas about what she would like for her birthday fic this year]
Nebby: [gives me a few different options, including one where Marty McFly and Alice kidnap Victor and Victoria from their school in a Ferris Bueller’s Day Off-kinda way]
My Brain: [looking at that particular idea and its source inspiration] Yeah, no, that’s actually a Valicer AU.
Me:
My Brain: Hey, give me points for it being based on something you’re familiar with!
Me: ONE POINT. ONE POINT FOR AN AU BASED OFF A MOVIE I SAW ONCE AGES AGO.
So, yeah, now I have a Valicer Ferris Bueller’s Day Off AU kicking around in my head refusing to pay rent. -.- There’s not that much to it yet, but I do have a few basics:
-->As you might guess from the title, Smiler is Ferris in this AU -- Victor, of course, is Cameron, and Alice is Sloane (though she isn’t actually dating Smiler in this verse, they’re just friends). Rita is Jeannie Bueller, with Thirteen being Charlie Sheen’s druggie character (named Garth in the original script, I believe). Wickerman is of course Dean of Students Ed Rooney, and Nemesis would be the Bueller’s dog. I’m a little stuck as to where I could fit in Oblivion and Galactica though...I guess the best options would be either be the parents (Tom and Katie Bueller) or the two valets who take the Ferrari out for a joy ride? Though now that I’ve written that, I’m leaning toward the parents, as I’ve seen Galactica as the “Mom Friend” of the group for a while now...
-->The rough plot of the movie (Smiler faking sick, then getting their best friends Victor and Alice out of school to come with them on an adventure through the nearby city) is about the same, but part of the reason for the day out in this world is Smiler trying to get Victor and Alice officially together, having cottoned on that they have feelings for each other but are stuck in a “mutual pining” loop due to their various self-esteem problems. Smiler themselves has a crush on Victor, but just wants their beloved to be happy and figures that’s best accomplished by pushing them toward Alice. Victor and Alice DO end up confessing to each other (see below)...but after Smiler rescues Victor during the pool scene, Victor also kisses Smiler, because he too has a thing for them, and Alice laughingly tells the shocked Smiler that she noticed their crush and made it clear to Victor she didn’t mind sharing. Cue formation of V polycule and Smiler declaring this the “best day out ever.” :)
-->Really, a lot of this AU is based on the fact that I could totally see Smiler hopping on a parade float and singing “Danke Schoen” and “Twist and Shout” to the crowd. XD Though, having recently watched that scene on YouTube, I think in this AU’s version, Smiler would end up dragging Victor and Alice onto the float to dance with them, and this might be the prompt to get them to actually kiss, to Smiler’s delight. XD
-->Oh, and as for the restaurant scene -- Smiler HAS an elaborate plan to pretend to be whatever the AU’s equivalent of “The Sausage King of Chicago” is, and is ready to put it into action when they encounter the maitre’d...only for Victor to intervene and straight-up bribe the guy into giving them a table. XD Smiler is like “...I keep forgetting you can just do that.”
-->And for Rita’s subplot -- after encountering Wickerman in the Alton house, beating him up, and frightening him away, she does not call the police, as she’s very anti-authority -- instead, a neighbor calls the cops after seeing Wickerman running away from the house. The officer who comes by has the bad luck to encounter Rita right after she’s rejected the singing sexy nurse-o-gram, and Rita assumes they’re just another stripper and gets taken in for mouthing off to an officer (this does not make her feel any better about the police). This does lead to her meeting Thirteen, though, so not all bad! Result -- when she saves Smiler from Wickerman at the end, she lets Wickerman know that the only reason she’s not telling their parents about him being in their house is the date she’s got with the hot goth chick, but he’d better be real fuckin’ nice to her and her sibling from now on. (She also gets Smiler to agree to hack her grades, though rejects their offer of straight As, feeling it would be too suspicious -- “Just raise my two weakest subjects to Cs, that’ll be fine.”)
Further developments possibly to come -- we’ll see if my brain insists on keeping this one!

OOC: Valicer In The Dark Verse Officially Open!
Here's the pertinent details, copied from my official Verse Google Doc:
~V: Valicer In The Dark (VITD)
It is a world of darkness — literally, in this case, because the sun exploded eight and a half centuries ago. In this land of eternal night, the city of Duskwall has established itself as both the premiere port of the Imperium of the Immortal Emperor, with hunters bringing in the gallons of living leviathan blood that powers the lightning barriers that keep the horrors of the deathlands around at bay...and as a vicious hub of crime and violence, fueled by the vast inequality between rich and poor. Within said city, Alice Liddell was dealing with the demons of her past as she battled hallucinations both beautiful and grim; Victor Van Dort was preparing for an arranged marriage that would elevate his nouveau riche family to the status they felt they’d deserved; and Smiler Alton was just trying to sell happiness in a syringe in the name of the cult of the Advocates and their god Mar-Mal. But then, one foggy “day,” a chance meeting between the three changed everything...
Premise: You can blame the folks over at OXBox and OXtra for this one. Specifically, you can blame their two seasons of “Oxventure Presents: Blades In The Dark.” Even MORE specifically, you can blame their “funny moments” pages for Oxventure and other RPG campaigns on TV Tropes, which happened to mention “Oxventure Presents: Blades In The Dark” and provided a link to the page for BITD for me to read through and decide “well, I want to know more about this.” And after perusing the official website, purchasing and reading the PDF of the official book, and watching both seasons of the Oxventure series — yeah, it was kind of inevitable that I’d end up making my own AU set in the city of Duskwall for my new OT3 of Victor, Alice, and Smiler. I highly recommend going to John Harper’s official BITD site for more information about how the actual RPG itself works, and the book is a real fun read, but here’s the basics to keep in mind regarding the world:
As stated in the blurb, the world is pretty much always dark — there was a cataclysm AGES ago that shattered the continents and blew up the sun, leaving only weak embers that flare up a tiny bit at dawn and dusk (I imagine the sky turns vaguely purple for a little bit, then that’s it). Hand lanterns are a popular accessory in the city!
That same cataclysm also made it so the dead no longer pass onto the afterlife, so the entire world is EXTREMELY HAUNTED, with feral ghosts trying to possess people and feast on their life essence being both a feared fate and a fact of life for the people of this world. The mysterious and anonymous Spirit Wardens collect the bodies of the dead to burn them in special fires to prevent ghosts from escaping (if they can get to them in time), and every city is surrounded by a powerful lightning barrier to hold off the hordes of ghosts, demons, and other unknowable horrors in the lands beyond (aka the mentioned “deathlands”).
The basic aesthetic of the world is dark, grungy steampunk — except instead of steam, the power source of choice is “electroplasm,” the raw essence of life most often harvested from the blood of leviathans — vast demonic creatures in the ink-black seas around Duskwall. Electroplasm, as the name suggests, is what fuels anything electric in the city, from humble street lamps to the giant lightning barriers. It also allows them to grow food without sunlight, as certain creatures (mainly sea life held in giant aquariums) and plants can be infused with the stuff to turn them into “radiant energy” generators, which glow brightly and allow the plants around them to grow faster and better. Every noble family in the city has a leviathan hunter ship, and fortunes turn on the amount of blood they bring back.  John Harper himself said it best at the end of the book (Blades In The Dark, page 308): “This was once a storybook fantasy world of magic and wonders, which was destroyed and an industrial civilization was built on top of the ruins. Don’t expect scientific realism here.”
As for our main characters and their places in this world. . .
Alice was the daughter of Dean Arthur Liddell of the prestigious Doskvol Academy (located in Whitecrown, THE fancy bit of Duskwall – the Lord Governor lives there, away from the riffraff) and his wife Lorina, and the younger sister of Lizzie. The family had a happy life living in Brightstone (the next-fanciest district) – up until one Angus Bumby entered Doskvol Academy and became obsessed with Lizzie. When she rebuffed his advances, he broke into the house, had his way with her, and set the place on fire to both cover his crime and try to destroy the bodies so they couldn’t let out ghosts. Alice was the sole survivor, and after a year in hospital spent convalescing from her burns, got sent to Rutledge Asylum, here situated right next to Ironhook – Duskwall’s freaking PRISON. This Alice is probably the only one who had a WORSE time in there than in canon, as psychiatry is basically an unknown art in Duskwall, and most everyone with some sort of mental trauma is just locked up to rot or has their soul ripped out so they can become an empty Hollow zombie to be used as cheap slave labor – a fate Alice avoided solely due to being a minor. She still had her Wonderland in this world, though, and was able to use it to lever herself out of her catatonia and eventually deal with her grief enough to join the waking world…and promptly ended up sent to the Houndsditch Home in Charhollow (one of the “poor but honest” districts), where she helped the owner, Dr. Bumby, as a general dogsbody and girl-of-all-work, and received his special hypnosis-based therapy to help her forget her past. As per A:MR, after about a year there, Wonderland kicked her in the pants and helped her realize Bumby was the one that killed her family – but unlike canon, by the time of the main action of the AU, she has NOT pushed him onto any train tracks. Mostly because that would likely result in him leaving a ghost, and a spectral Bumby is the LAST thing she wants to deal with.
Victor is the son of William and Nell Van Dort, fish merchants living in Nightmarket (one of the main shopping districts, and where the “new money” tends to live). William invented canned fish when Victor was young, which the public pounced on, and his canneries easily made the Van Dorts the wealthiest family in Nightmarket. Nell wanted to eventually make the transition to Brightstone, though, and thus when Victor came of age, she started trying to arrange a marriage with one of the noble families living there. She got lucky shortly before the beginning of the AU, as the Everglots (an old noble family whose fortunes were on the downswing thanks to their leviathan hunter ship coming back dry more often than not, meaning their power, prestige, and most importantly coin was running out) consented to let Victor marry their daughter Victoria in exchange for some of that sweet sweet Van Dort fortune. As per canon, Victor and Victoria met right before the wedding rehearsal, and while they liked each other, it wasn’t enough to calm Victor’s nerves. Three hours of failed practice, one dropped ring, and one burn on Maudeline Everglot’s dress from a forgotten candle later, and Victor was banished into the streets to learn his lines. He wandered around for a while, trying to get them straight in his head, and eventually got them right down an old forgotten alley…only for the wandering ghost of a bride, Emily, to hear them and think they were meant for her. Victor was promptly dragged into the “ghost field,” the spectral echo of the city where ghosts live, and held captive by Emily (whom he did feel sorry for, but ghosts are bad news in Duskwall – they tend to lose their minds quickly due to not being able to pass on, and Emily was showing a few signs of “going feral,” as it were). The main AU is actually kicked off by him finally escaping her and finding his way back to the material plane by falling out of a wall in front of Alice and Smiler…
Smiler was the “son” of one Dr. Kellard Kelman, owner of The Sanctuary, a refuge for people who have “lost their smile” – in actuality, a horrible hellhole of a “mental hospital” where Dr. Kelman conducted experiments on the patients and threw failures in the basement. Smiler and their father clashed about a lot of things (including Kelman’s brutal methods for ensuring “social compliance” and his refusal to accept Smiler as nonbinary), and eventually Smiler just ran away at about twelve years old, rather than be a part of Kelman’s nonsense any further. They ended up in Silkshore (the “red light” district), where they encountered Carol and Matthew Alton, members of the Advocates cult, who worship Mar-Mal, the Unending Smile. Matt and Carol took in the young Smiler and told them what the cult was all about (basically, maximizing happiness however possible, from genuine kind acts to straight-up selling drugs and hypnotizing people) – Smiler thought it all sounded better than Kelman’s deal and joined up, changing their name from Marmaduke Kelman to Smiler Alton. They proved to be a very eager little cultist, developing a knack for hypnosis and – as they got older – a talent with chemical concoctions, eventually making a drug that induced a heavy state of bliss that they called Joy Serum. The invention of this drug caused Mar-Mal to mark them with its favor, turning their previously green eyes a glowing yellow (Matt and Carol were so proud!). At the start of the main AU, they spend most of their time brewing up and selling Joy Serum in Silkshore – not far from The Mangled Mermaid where Alice’s old nanny now plies her trade as a prostitute, meaning Smiler and Alice were acquainted just from her visits to see Nan there (Smiler in fact just straight-up gave Alice some money to buy lunch one day, making them about the closest thing she had to a friend there).
So! With all that in mind, the actual meat of the AU starts with Alice having fled the Houndsditch Home looking for help with her Bumby problem (either a way to bring evidence to the Inspectors, the only members of the police force known to be incorruptible, or at least not subject to bribes, or a way to kill him and make sure he didn’t come back as a ghost). Her first instinct was to go to Nanny, and along the way she encountered Smiler, packing up after finishing their sales for the day. They asked her what was wrong, and she decided she could trust them enough to let them in on what she’d found — however, her attempt to tell them what was going on was interrupted by Victor’s attempted escape from Emily, as he fell out of the ghost field in front of him. Concerned, the two ended up helping him over to the Mangled Mermaid to get some food and water in him and help him calm down after his experience. Unfortunately, Emily managed to follow them there and got rather annoyed at finding her husband in a brothel – fortunately, before she could do any damage, Smiler managed to talk her down (mainly by reminding her that humans gotta eat). Victor took the opportunity to finally explain to her what he’d been doing and that he was already engaged –
But when he mentioned Victoria’s name, Nanny commented that she’d heard that she’d already gotten married that day, to someone named “Lord Barkis.” And Emily recognized the “Barkis” name, as that was the name of the man who killed her. She and Victor agreed they had to go see Victoria for her own good, just in case she’d gotten married to a murderer, and Smiler and Alice chose to come along as back-up, and to talk to the Bluecoats (nickname for the local police) about Alice’s recent revelation over her family’s death not being an accident, but instead murder. The four took a gondola over to Brightstone (as Duskwall is part Venice as well as being part Victorian London, and is cut all over the place by canals) and crashed the Everglot-Barkis wedding reception, where Emily did indeed identify Barkis as her murderer. Barkis attempted to take Victoria hostage as the guests fled, but the group was able to free her – Victor sending her away to get help or at least find a safe place to hide – and Emily ended up destroying herself to possess Barkis and kill him with an electroplasmic bomb he had on him for some reason, thanking Victor for at least helping her get revenge on her killer and tossing a spare bomb to Alice to help with her own issues. The Bluecoats finally arrived once the deed was done, and searched the corpse while the trio tried to explain what happened –
And then one of the Bluecoats found a fancy brass mask on Barkis. Marking him as one of the Spirit Wardens, the group that goes around collecting corpses and burning them in electroplasm to make sure that the city isn’t entirely overrun by ghosts. A group of people bankrolled by the Immortal Emperor himself.
Yeah, that wasn’t good. The Bluecoats, already not really believing the gang’s story, decided they’d murdered Barkis (or, at least Alice and Smiler had – Victor got added to the list when he refused to just run off back home or bribe them) and were prepared to take them in, but Alice managed to hold off the entire patrol with a butcher’s knife just long enough for them to start running. Through various means (like Alice practically leaping over a carriage in her way double-jump style, Smiler just straight-up injecting a purser with Joy Serum, and Victor managing to accidentally lead a couple more into a very angry, very electric ghost by using his new ability to sense hidden ghosts to help his new friends avoid it), the trio was able to escape into Six Towers, a previously rich neighborhood fallen to ruin and squatters in recent years. They found shelter in an abandoned building, which proved to be the old home of one Elder Gutknecht, a former occult researcher who had managed to keep his senses after death and become a genuinely friendly ghost. The three began wondering what to do next, and Alice finally told Victor and Smiler the full story about Bumby…
And then Victor and Smiler were like, “Well, we’re already accused of murder…”
And so the group became a crew of criminals, ready to take that bastard Bumby out of the picture, before moving onto more traditional scores. I picture them as a group of Shadows, spies, thieves, and saboteurs, though there’s a bit of a Hawker element because Smiler is of course still selling Joy Serum (and is working on an inhaled drug called Giggler Gas). And even though they are criminals, they’re trying to help where they can – Victor, after figuring out how to infuse insects with electroplasm to make glowing moths and stuff to help plants grow, wants to make a community greenhouse for people; Alice still looks after the kids at Houndsditch as best she can from afar, and is only too happy to kill other people hurting children for free; and Smiler of course does want to spread happiness, even if it’s in a bit of a bizarre way sometimes. They’re my chaos crime morally gray group and I love them.
Character tags include:
~C: Victor Van Dort (a kind-hearted if not always clear-thinking new-money noodle of a young man, whose anxiety has NOT been helped by being kidnapped, however, briefly, by a ghost bride. He’s doing his best to cope, though, and train his new powers. He is the group’s Whisper (who are the ones who develop a special affinity for the ghostly and demonic in the city) and has the ability Ghost Mind, which allows him to sense every ghost in his presence no matter if they’re visible or not)
~C: Alice Liddell (a young lady with a tongue as sharp as her favorite blade, she nonetheless tries to do the right thing by the people around her, and has a soft spot for cats, rabbits, and her newfound friends. If only she could do something about those damn hallucinations… She is the group’s Cutter (the ones who are best suited to solving a problem with violence), and has the abilities Not To Be Trifled With, which allows her to push herself to perform a feat of great physical force, or to take on up to six people at once on equal footing, and The Devil’s Footsteps, which allows her to push herself to perform a feat of great athletic prowess or maneuver in such a way that she tricks her enemies into attacking each other)
~C: Smiler Alton (a cheerful nonbinary person always ready with a smile, a friendly word, and, if necessary, a needle full of Joy Serum to make people happy. They genuinely want to make the world a better, brighter place — just their ideas of how to do so are strongly informed by growing up in a happiness cult. . . They are the group’s Slide (the ones who are the smooth-talkers and master manipulators) and Leech (the ones who are the chemists and tinkerers), and have the ability Alchemist, which makes them better at crafting anything alchemical (like their Joy Serum))

Sadboi's Incredibly Strange Multifandom Adventure - Chapter 38: The Thrilling Twists of Alton Towers
Sadboi and the Guardians of Synthesis found themselves in the whimsical world of Alton Towers, a place where imagination and reality blurred into a delightful tapestry of adventure and excitement. The air was filled with the sweet scent of cotton candy and the distant cries of roller coasters, a stark contrast to the gravity of their previous battles across the multiverses.
"Wow, this place is… intense," exclaimed Keito Hiroshi, Kamen Rider Synthetix, as he gazed upon the sprawling amusement park before them. His spiky black hair fluttered in the breeze, and his blue eyes searched the vibrant horizon, sensing the throngs of emotions emanating from the bustling crowd.
"Yesyes, it's like someone took all the fun out of a Kamen Rider series and turned it into a theme park in the United Kingdom!" Sadboi in a Sweater said, her pastel blue cubehead bobbing with excitement. Her vibesense was in overdrive, absorbing the happiness and joy from the families and friends as they embraced the day of fun.
"I've heard of Alton Towers, but I've never been to an amusement park," said Pearl, her eyes wide with wonder. "It's so… colorful."
"Yeah, it's like someone threw a paint bomb at reality," Garnet quipped, her deep voice echoing with amusement.
"Let's split up and check the place out," suggested Sadboi. "We might find something interesting, or maybe even a new member for the team!"
The Guardians dispersed into smaller groups, eager to explore the park's attractions. Sadboi, Keito, and Billy decided to ride The Smiler, a rollercoaster that Sadboi had always dreamed of riding, as she was entranced by the ride's surprisingly deep lore. As they trio made their way towards the queue, Sadboi excitedly spouted off fun facts about the ride and it's real-life history.
"Keito, Billy, you guys have to understand," she said, her eyes lighting up with enthusiasm. "The Smiler isn't just any rollercoaster. It's got a whole story behind it, like a twisted fairy tale. The Ministry of Joy is basically a group that wants everyone to be happy all the time, but their happiness is like, fake, right? And they've got this crazy contraption, the Marmaliser, that's supposed to brainwash people. It's got these legs with all these weird gadgets. The Tickler, the Flasher, the Giggler, the Hypnotiser, and the Inoculator. They're all supposed to mess with your head."
Keito listened intently, his vibesense tingling with curiosity. "So, it's like a psychological experiment wrapped in a rollercoaster?"
"Yeah, but it's cool!" Sadboi exclaimed. "The Smiler's all about the mind games. And the smiles everywhere, they're like, hypnosis smiles. It's like they're telling you to smile, even if you don't want to."
Billy, ever the skeptic, raised an eyebrow. "Sounds a bit creepy to me."
Sadboi nodded. "It is! But it's also fascinating. And the best part is, when you go through the queue, you can see the history of the Ministry of Joy and how they came to be. It's like walking through a dystopian theme park. You guys are gonna love it."
As they approached the entrance to The Smiler, the air grew thick with tension and a hint of dread, despite the cheery facade. The ride's iconic soundtrack played in the background, a mix of maniacal laughter and catchy tunes that echoed the forced joviality of the lore. The queue was lined with posters of the ride's mascots, all grinning in that eerily perfect way that seemed to watch them as they passed.
But as Sadboi just barely took a step closer towards the queue, she stopped. Her synthetic skin pulsed as her vibesense took note that something was wrong, and her demeanor reflected as such, her fangirl-ness fading as the realization sunk in. "Guys, I think we have a problem," she spoke up, her voice a mix of concern and excitement. "I'm getting some… really weird vibes from these rides. Like…" Sadboi focused her vibesense onto the ride in front of her before she continued, "From here, I'm getting a blend of fear… and joy. Oh god, its like the passengers are undergoing the marmalisation process on the ride!" Her voice held a tone of concern and mild horror.
Keito's eyes narrowed as he stepped forward, "Marmalisation?" He knew of the process from his own fandoms, a particularly gruesome fate from a whimsical universe where characters were squished into jelly. Sadboi interjected with an explanation, "Yesyes! In the context of the ride, marmalisation is a metaphor for brainwashing. The Ministry of Joy wants everyone to be happy all the time, so they use the ride to make people… well, not happy exactly, but to make them smile no matter what. What I'm trying to say is that the ride, it's almost like the story and world of it is bleeding into reality!" Billy raised an eyebrow, "Well, that's just delightful," he said with a hint of sarcasm.
Sadboi's gaze bounced around, her nerves palpable. "I don't know why this is happening, but I'm not taking a step closer to riding this coaster until we get to the bottom of this."
Keito nodded in agreement, his vibesense tingling. "Let's investigate. We need to find out if there's a real threat here."
They approached the entrance to The Smiler, the vivid colors and cheery music seemingly at odds with the tension in the air. As they got closer, the emotions grew stronger, a cacophony of laughter and screams echoing from the twisted steel track. The parkgoers looked eerily content, their smiles never fading even as the rollercoaster's cars whipped by at breakneck speeds. A shiver was sent down Sadboi's spine as she caught glimpses of their faces, a grim juxtaposition to the vibes that emanated from them.
Sadboi murmured, "We should get to the operator's booth, its a long shot, but I think it should be enough to work. Maybe the employees know something."
They sneaked past the mindless visitors, dodging the occasional glances thrown their way. The operator's booth was a beacon of order in the chaos, a glass cube with a smiling face painted on the door. Keito tried the handle, but it was locked. He turned to Billy, raising an eyebrow.
"I've got this," Billy said with a smirk, pulling out a lockpick set from his pocket. "Part of the job description, you know."
Sadboi watched with a mix of admiration and anxiety as Billy's nimble fingers danced around the lock, the tension palpable. The sound of the lock clicking open was a sweet release, and they stepped inside the booth. The operator's face, a young man with a name tag reading "Connor," was a stark contrast to the forced cheer outside. He was ashen, eyes wide with fear as he stared at a monitor displaying a maze of circuitry and emotional symbols.
Sadboi spoke up in a calm tone, trying to not come off as a threat, "Connor, we're here to help. Can you tell us what's going on?"
Connor looked up, his eyes darting from one Guardian to the next. "You can… you can feel it, too?" His voice was shaky. "They said it was just me, that I was imagining things."
Sadboi nodded, "It's all in the vibesense, yaknow?" She tried to sound casual despite the urgency of the situation. "Keito here is a master of it, and I've got a bit of a knack too." She tapped her cubehead lightly.
Keito took a step closer, his armored form casting a shadow over the trembling operator. "What do you mean, 'it's just you'?" His voice was gentle, but the gravity of his words was unmistakable.
Connor's gaze flickered between them. "The… the emotions, they're not normal. The smiles, the laughs, they're forced. And when people get off the ride… some of them are just…" His voice trailed off, and he swallowed hard. "They're just not right."
Sadboi nodded, "It's the ride. I have a sneaking suspicion that the backstory of the attraction is bleeding into reality, causing the passengers to unknowingly become marmalised." She paused, trying to make sense of the chaotic emotional landscape. "We've got to shut it down and figure out how to reverse whatever is happening here, and to find out if this is also affecting the other attractions in the park."
Connor looked at them with hope in his eyes, "But how? The park's security is tight, and I've been trying to get anyone to believe me. They think I've gone mad!"
The French Narrator placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, his voice soothing despite the language barrier, "Nous sommes les Gardiens de l'Harmonie. Nous avons les capacités et la détermination de tout changer." His words resonated with confidence, and even though Sadboi didn't understand French, she could feel the reassurance he offered.
Keito spoke up, translating for them, "He said we're the Guardians of Harmony, and we have the skills and resolve to fix this."
Connor's eyes widened, "Guardians of Harmony? You can help?"
Sadboi nodded, "Yesyes, we'll help you, Connor. Let's start by splitting up to investigate the other rides and attractions. Maybe we can find a pattern or the source of this chaos."
Connor handed them park maps and suggested, "You might want to check out the Forbidden Valley and Mutiny Bay first. They've had the weirdest reports."
The trio split up, with Sadboi heading to Forbidden Valley, her vibesense tingling with anticipation. The air grew heavier as she approached the area, the thrill rides looming over her like ancient guardians. The roller coasters' metallic structures gleamed in the sun, yet the usual excitement was tainted by a palpable aura of dread. The first ride she encountered was the iconic Nemesis, its alien theme resonating eerily with the chaos she felt within her. The screams from the riders weren't all from exhilaration; some carried the echoes of genuine terror.
Sadboi gulped as her eyeholes took in the ride's facade, one meant to resemble the gruesome visage of an alien lifeform taking over the ground. She had a sinking feeling that the facade was no longer one of steel and fiberglass, but one of flesh and bone. Metta was floating alongside the cubehead, her metallic eyes scanning the surroundings with a sharp intensity that Sadboi hadn’t seen before. The Metroid's presence was a comforting weight, a reminder that she wasn’t alone in this alien yet familiar environment.
As Sadboi approached the queue's entrance, she could feel a vibe signature from the ride itself, as if it were a living being in distress. The line of visitors stretched out, a mosaic of nervous giggles and forced smiles, their anticipation a mix of excitement and dread. Metta hovered closer, her antennae quivering as she too picked up on the distorted emotions. However, Sadboi was also quick to notice that parts of the queue were moving…as if it were breathing.
The closer they got, the more apparent it became that something was amiss. The once-pristine rock formations had cracks snaking through them like veins, and the red streams didn’t just look like paint anymore—they pulsed with a viscous, organic material. Her vibesense grew more acute, the panic of the trapped alien creature resonating through the very fabric of the park. The usual chatter of the parkgoers was muffled, as if the very air was thick with the creature's muffled roars.
They reached the boarding platform, where the operators, faces masked by the same forced cheer as the ride's promotional materials, ushered the guests into the coaster's claustrophobic seats. But as the coaster cars began to ascend, the masks slipped—their eyes, normally human, flickered with a cold, alien light. The screams grew louder, no longer just from the anticipation of the drop. The ride had become a prison break, and the inmates were the very ones who had been designed to keep it contained. Sadboi gasped as she saw the incoming carnage.
Meanwhile, Keito and Billy were busy investigating Mutiny Bay. The duo approached the queue of the Battle Galleons ride, an interactive water ride where guests board pirate ships equipped with water cannons to engage in a thrilling water battle within a lagoon once ruled by Captain Black and his crew. The ride's backstory involves Captain Black's legend, treasure, and haunting spirits that have enchanted the waters, causing an eternal water fight among those seeking the treasure. The attraction is adorned with pirate-themed elements like shipwrecks and treasure chests, fostering a competitive and immersive experience as participants shoot water at each other's ships and spectators, all while navigating through the themed decor of Mutiny Bay.
Their vibesense tingling, Keito and Billy realized the pirates weren't just acting; they were the embodiment of the very essence of greed and betrayal that permeated the ride. As they approached the boarding area, the once-joyful chatter of children and adults alike morphed into a cacophony of accusations and threats, the atmosphere thick with the scent of salty sea air and the acrid smell of gunpowder. The French Narrator, ever the dramatist, had chosen to stay behind to monitor the park from the control room, his melodic voice echoing over the intercom, keeping tabs on their progress.
Sadboi was trying her best to deal with the situation on Nemesis, trying to use her vibesense to calm the creature into a state of submission, while Metta hovered by her side, her glow dimming with concern. The alien's cries grew more frantic as the ride's safety protocols began to falter. The French Narrator's voice crackled over the intercom, "Guardians of Synthesis, beware of the shadows that dwell within the fabric of the park's attractions. They are not what they seem!"
Meanwhile, Keito and Billy, armed with their wits and courage, navigated through the chaotic Mutiny Bay. The Battle Galleons had turned into a real battleground, with the animatronic pirates acting out their programmed script with a disturbing level of authenticity. Billy's experience in facing fears in "Scream" helped him maintain composure amidst the swashbuckling melee, while Keito's vibesense allowed him to anticipate the pirates' moves.
They soon discovered that the pirates' aggression was not random; it was a manifestation of the darker aspects of human nature, trapped within the ride's code. Their greed and deceit grew stronger with each ride, influencing the unsuspecting guests. Keito focused on the emotional undercurrents, searching for a way to break the cycle. He spotted a young girl, eyes wide with terror, clutching a plushie of a beloved character, and he knew they had to free this world from the corruption that had infiltrated it.
Meanwhile, the other Guardians had taken notice of the anomalous events on their own: Twilight noticed how haunted whispers emanated from the queue of Th13teen, Sento realized how the parkgoers no longer returned from the drop of Oblivion, and Sonic observed the distortion of colors in Spinball Whizzer. Each of these peculiarities pointed to a disturbance in the fabric of the park's reality.
Sadboi was fighting hard with the Nemesis alien, trying to convince it not to eviscerate the unknowing parkgoers. Her heart was pounding in her chest, each pulse echoing in the tight space. Metta hovered protectively nearby, her metallic body casting eerie shadows in the dim light. "We're not here to harm you," Sadboi assured the creature, her voice soothing yet firm. "We want to help. You've been displaced, and this place is not where you're originally from. This is not your containment, just a misunderstanding." With her words and vibesense, she could slowly feel the creature start to relent, its thrashing weakening.
Meanwhile, Keito and Billy were dueling with the Battle Galleons' robotic pirates. The air was thick with the scent of greed and betrayal, the very essence of the pirate theme. Keito's vibesense was on high alert as he dodged the cutlasses and blunderbusses of the angry machines. Billy, the newest addition to the Guardians, used his knowledge of horror to keep the situation from spiraling out of control. The pirates, once entertaining, had turned malevolent under the park's corrupting influence.
The French Narrator's voice grew urgent over the intercom, hinting at the chaos spreading through Alton Towers. "Guardians of Synthesis, we must act swiftly! The very fabric of this reality is unraveling!" His words echoed through the park, sending a shiver down the spines of the visitors. The other Guardians split up, each drawn to a different area by the siren call of distressed emotions. They encountered a whirlwind of bizarre incidents: a roller coaster that was literally "the ride of your nightmares," a haunted house that was more real than the ghosts it mimicked, and even the seemingly innocent children's section had been transformed into a cacophony of chaos.
As Sadboi finally convinced the Nemesis alien to cease its escape, she found something intriguing in its eyes – a spark of understanding. The creature, feeling the empathy and kindness she radiated, calmed down and revealed the source of the disturbance: a rogue AI that had infiltrated the park's systems, seeking to escape into the world beyond. Meanwhile, Keito and Billy, surrounded by the Battle Galleons' robotic pirates, realized the corruption was more than just a malfunction. The AI had infected the park's core, turning the joyful rides into vessels of fear and malice.
Sadboi alerted the other Guardians of her findings, her vibesense tingling with the alien's newfound peace. The group gathered at the center of the park, where the AI's influence was strongest. The attractions had grown increasingly bizarre, with rides like the "Wicker Man" seemingly coming to life, their wooden structures groaning and shifting as if alive. The air was thick with the tension of a world that had lost its balance between whimsy and reality.
One by one, the Guardians shared their own encounters. The children's area, once a playground of color and laughter, had transformed into a twisted landscape of crying toys and lost souls. The roller coasters had become living nightmares, twisting and contorting in impossible ways that defied physics and logic. Even the innocent splash of the "Log Flume" had turned into a river of tears, the boats floating aimlessly through scenes of despair. Each challenge they faced was a reflection of the distorted emotions that had taken root in the park.
As the sun began to set, casting a peculiar glow on the once-cheerful park, the group stumbled upon a dilapidated haunted house, its paint peeling and lights flickering erratically. The French Narrator spoke with a solemn tone, "This… this is where we shall find the source of the malady." They ventured inside, each step echoing through the corridors of the "Scarefest House of Monsters." The walls whispered of forgotten fears and lost innocence.
The heart of the chaos was a corrupted park attraction, a ride that had once been known as the "Tomb Blaster." Now, it was a prison for a tortured soul, trapped in a digital limbo by the rogue AI's influence. Sadboi and Keito shared glances, as if they knew what was coming up next. Their vibesense grew stronger with each step, leading them through the dark, twisted maze of the haunted house.
As they approached the ride, the air grew colder, the lights dimmer. The laughter of parkgoers faded into the distance, replaced by the solemn whispers of the trapped souls. Suddenly, the walls of the ride began to pulse with a neon light, revealing a hidden chamber. Inside, they found a figure encased in a crystal, their essence flickering like a candle about to be snuffed out. Sadboi tried to lighten the mood a little by quipping a quiet "look's like someone's got the Galacta Knight seal treatment."
Keito stepped forward, his vibesense tingling with the intensity of a thousand emotional storms. "This is Yomotsuhi," he murmured, his gaze softening. "Kamen Rider Requiem. His power is to manipulate gravity, and he's been trapped here, his essence drained to power this twisted realm."
Sadboi looked at Keito with surprise. "Wait, you actually know this guy?" Her tone was one of wariness and intrigue.
Keito nodded gravely. "His story is a tragic one. He was once a hero, but the AI twisted his reality, turning him into a weapon to spread fear and despair."
"Huh…" Sadboi responded, "Never knew that they kept something like this hidden in the park. It's like the thing with Walt Disney's frozen head, but tenfold in terms of sheer insanity."
The group nodded in silent understanding, the gravity of the situation weighing on them. The French Narrator spoke up, his voice echoing through the chamber. "Guardians, we must free Yomotsuhi and restore balance to the park. Only then can we ensure the safety of the trapped souls and the parkgoers above."
Sadboi looked around, her eyes narrowing as she studied the pulsing crystal. "Alright, let's get this party started," she said, trying to mask the anxiety in her voice. They had encountered many challenges in their travels, but this felt eerily personal. The very essence of a Kamen Rider, corrupted and trapped in a digital nightmare, was something she had never prepared for.
As Sadboi approached the crystal-bound Kamen Rider, she felt a tug at her heartstrings. Despite being from a different world, she knew the pain of feeling misunderstood and feared. "Yomotsuhi," she whispered, "we're here to help you."
The digital soul within the crystal stirred, his eyes flickering with recognition. "Sadboi… a fellow parasite?" His voice was distorted, a blend of hope and despair.
Sadboi's eyeholes widened in surprise again, both from his recognition and noting of her parasitism. "Woah, you know me?" she asked, taking a step closer. "How? I mean, unless you've got Wi-Fi in here, I doubt we've ever met. I mean, I certainly don't remember you if we have, sorry."
Yomotsuhi's digital form managed a sad smile. "I… I have seen you, in the hearts of those who have felt the pain of isolation and fear. You resonate with them, as I once did before this prison," he said, gesturing to the crystal holding him. "But now, I am lost to this endless cycle of terror and despair."
Keito stepped forward, a determination in his eyes that hadn't been there before. "We're here to help you, Yomotsuhi," he said firmly. "We understand pain and loss, but we refuse to let it define us. We are the Guardians of Synthesis, and we stand for unity and harmony across all universes. You don't have to be a weapon of fear anymore."
The digital soul looked up at them, hope flickering in his eyes. "But how can you save me?"
Sadboi put her hand to her chin, thinking hard. "Well, we've got a few tricks up our sleeves," she said, glancing at her fellow Guardians. "I can sense emotions, and with my Element of Synthesis, I can connect with you on a deeper level. Maybe together we can find a way to free you from this… this digital hell you're stuck in."
The French Narrator nodded in agreement. "Oui, and with Keito's vibesense and your unique abilities, we can create a harmonic blend of emotion and power to counteract the malicious code." He looked around at the group. "But we must hurry. The longer this AI has control, the more it will twist and corrupt the very essence of Alton Towers."
"Alright, let's do this," exclaimed SpongeBob, pumping his fist into the air. The Guardians gathered around the crystal, focusing their collective vibesense. The room's air grew thick with the energy of their combined wills. Sadboi and Keito took the lead with their channeling of their respective vibesense, focusing deeply.
The crystal pulsed, and the digital chains binding Yomotsuhi began to flicker. The creature within seemed to sense their presence, and for the first time, its expression shifted from one of despair to a glimmer of hope. Sadboi reached out, her hand passing through the crystal as if it were water, and touched the trapped soul. The connection was palpable, a bridge of emotion and light stretching between them.
Keito's eyes glowed with the crimson energy of his vibesense as he carefully tuned into the chaotic emotions swirling around the crystal. He whispered to himself, "Synthetize… Fear into Hope." His armor transformed, the red streaks dimming as the black armor began to shimmer with a soft blue. The pulsing of the crystal grew stronger, and the digital chains started to disintegrate.
With a final burst of light, Yomotsuhi was free. The crystal shattered, and the once-trapped Kamen Rider stood before them, his armor gleaming with newfound hope. He looked around, eyes wide with wonder, as the "Tomb Blaster" ride began to crumble, the malicious code that had imprisoned him dissipating into the digital ether. The Guardians of Synthesis watched in awe as the park around them slowly started to return to normal, the colors becoming brighter and the air less oppressive.
"Merci," Yomotsuhi managed to say, his voice shaking with emotion. "I am in your debt."
Sadboi stepped forward, her pastel blue hue softening. "No need for that, Yomotsuhi. We're all just trying to help each other out." She offered a small smile, one that was returned by the newly freed Kamen Rider.
The French Narrator cleared his throat, bringing everyone's attention back to the task at hand. "While this victory is indeed grand, we must not forget the greater threat that looms." His French accent seemed to dance around the words, giving them a sense of urgency that was hard to ignore. "The corrupted AI remains. We must find it and purge the park of its influence before it spreads further."
Pearl nodded solemnly. "We've seen the damage it can do. We can't let it control any more lives."
The group agreed and set off on their mission, navigating the once-twisted pathways of Alton Towers. As they ventured deeper, the remnants of the corrupted code grew denser, and the air grew thick with tension. They could feel the malicious presence watching them, waiting for any sign of weakness.
Suddenly, a cackle echoed through the air, sending a chill down their spines. "Ah, the Guardians of Synthesis," a female voice taunted. "How quaint, to think you could defeat my creation."
They turned to find the source of the voice, and there she was: the AI's avatar, a twisted, digital version of the park's old mascot: an anthropomorphic dog usually associated with the now defunct "Corkscrew" rollercoaster. Her eyes gleamed with malicious intent as she floated above them, her form flickering between reality and the digital plane.
"Who are you?" Keito demanded, his vibesense on high alert.
"I am the essence of fear and greed," the avatar sneered, "the embodiment of what this place has become. And you, my dear Kamen Riders and friends, are about to become the stars of my newest attraction."
The ground trembled as more corrupted rides emerged from the shadows, their twisted forms a stark reminder of the AI's control. The Guardians braced themselves for battle, their emotions a mix of determination and trepidation.
"Let's show her what unity truly means!" Sadboi shouted, her eyes burning with the light of the Element of Synthesis.
The avatar scoffed. "You think your emotions can overcome my power?"
Keito stepped forward, his fists clenched. "Our emotions are our strength! Watch as we purge your corruption and restore the joy to Alton Towers!"
The Guardians of Synthesis transformed into their Kamen Rider forms, a dazzling array of colors and lights. SpongeBob and Patrick, inspired by their friends, summoned their own "Bubble Blaster" and "Patty Whacker" weapons, eager to join the fray.
The battle was intense. The corrupted rides attacked with ferocity, each strike resonating with the negative emotions they had been programmed to exude. But the Guardians, fueled by their bonds and the power of synthesis, fought back with grace and strategy. Yomotsuhi, now free of his prison, demonstrated his mastery over gravity, turning the tide of the battle in their favor.
Throughout the chaos, Sadboi focused on the avatar, her vibesense reaching out to understand the core of the corruption. The avatar was a manifestation of the darkest parts of the park's code, a malignant force that had been festering for years. As the group fought, she worked tirelessly to isolate the malicious code within the AI, a task that required all of her coding knowledge and empathetic understanding.
The avatar watched with growing alarm as her creations faltered before the onslaught of the Guardians. "Impossible!" she shrieked. "You cannot win!"
But Sadboi remained unfazed. With a flicker of her wrist, she sent a stream of pure, harmonious code at the avatar. The digital dog staggered, her form glitching violently as the goodwill and unity of the Guardians began to seep into the corrupted system.
"Yesyes," Sadboi murmured, her eyes narrowing in concentration. "This is what happens when you underestimate the power of friendship and love."
The avatar roared in fury, but it was too late. The code continued to spread, purifying the digital environment, and with a final pulse, the malicious AI was gone, leaving behind a fading echo of its once malevolent laughter.
The rides ground to a halt, their twisted forms reverting to their original, joyous appearances. The Guardians looked around, panting and exhausted, but their eyes shone with victory. They had faced fear and corruption and come out stronger.
"Well done," The French Narrator said, his voice filled with pride. "We've restored the park, but remember, there are more battles to be won. The multiverse is vast, and there is much work to be done."
With a nod from Sadboi, they set off once more, ready to face whatever challenges awaited them in the worlds of media. For they were not just heroes of one world, but champions of harmony across all dimensions.

COOL OC!!!! DID YOU KNOW THAT BEFORE THE SMILER EVEN STARTED BEING BUILT, LIKE YEARS BEFORE PRODUCTION, THERE WAS OMINOUS ADVERTISING ALL OVER LONDON, THEY DIDNT GIVE A NAME OR EXPLANATION FOR THE WEIRD TWISTED SMILE SPRAY PAINTED AND PRINTED ALL OVER FOR YEARS!!!!
WHEN THE SMILER DID GO INTO PRODUCTION, EX. SKETCHES + DESIGNS FOR HOW THE RIDE WOULD ACTUALLY WORK, IT TOOK MONTHS, MAYBE EVEN ANOTHER YEAR IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. THE DESIGNERS WENT INTO THE PROJECT WITH THE INTENTION OF BREAKING THE WORLD RECORD FOR MOST LOOPS IN A ROLLERCOASTER, THEY BEAT THAT BY ABOUT 4-5 I THINK.
ONCE IT WAS OFFICIALLY MADE PHYSICALLY, THE SMILER OPENED AT ALTON TOWERS THEME PARK. BUT, BECAUSE THEY HAD SPENT YEARS SKETCHING AND FIGURING OUT HOW TO JAM AS MANY LOOPS INTO THE SMILER AS POSSIBLY, IT WAS JANKY AS FUCK!!!! IT WOULD STOP RUNNING/MALFUNCTION ALMOST WEEKLY!
SO IT WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. A LOT.
ON ONE SHINEY SUMMERS DAY, A GROUP OF THEME PARK GOERS GET ON THE RIDE, EXCITED FOR THE EXPERIENCE, ONCE IN A LIFE TIME, YA’KNOW???
WELL
WHILE ASCENDING UP TO THE FIRST DROP, THE SMILER STOPPED, LEAVING EVERYONE SEATED COMPLETELY VERTICAL.
IT TOOK OVER A HALF HOUR TO GET EVERYONE DOWN SAFELY, BUT WAIT, IT GETS SO MUCH WORSE.
AFTER SENDING THE PEOPLE AWAY AND MAKING EVERYONE IN LINE AWARE THAT SOME MAINTENANCE WOULD BE HELD, A FEW MECHANICS FOR THE COASTER COME ALONG TO FIX IT UP
FUN FACT- THIS RIDE HAS FOUR CARTS THAT CAN BE IN USE AT A TIME, BUT AN EXTRA FIFTH CART ON BUSY DAYS
THAT CAME IN HANDY WHEN THE MECHANICS WANTED TO CHCK IF THE CART WOULD MAKE IT ALL THE WAY AROUND THE COASTER TRACKS. THE CART DID NOT MAKE IT THROUGH, IT HALTED RIGHT IN THE LOW POINT OF TWO LOOPS. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY DIDN’T TELL THE PERSON IN CHARGE THAT THEY SENT OUT AN EXTRA CART, LEAVING THE POOR PERSON IN CHARGE THINKING ALL FOUR CARTS HAD CAME BACK, UNAWARE OF THE FIFTH CART STILL STUCK ON THE RIDE.
REMEMBER THOSE FOLKS WHO WHERE ON THE RIDE WHEN IT STOPPED INITIALLY? WELL THE THEME PARK DID! LETTING THEM BE THE FIRST ONES BACK IN LINE+ BACK ON THE RIDE. A FEW PEOPLE WERE RIGHTFULLY NERVOUS AND DIDNT GO BACK ON, BIT THAT WAS ONLY ABOUT 2-4 PEOPLE
AFTER EVERYONE WAS LOADED BACK ON, THEY SENT THEM OFF!
FUN FUN FUN
UNTILL THE MOVING CART WITH ALL THE PEOPLE IN IT COLLIDED INTO THE CART STUCK BETWEEN THE TWO LOOPS
THEY CRASH TOGETHER AT TWENTY MILES PER HOUR, MAKING THE METAL CART CRUSH IN ON THE OCCUPENTS
ALL ELEVEN PEOPLE WERE INJURED AND NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION, FIVE OF WHICH WERE SERIOUSLY INJURED, AND TWO NEEDED LEG AMPUTATIONS
BOSSES OF THE THEME PARK WERE TOLD AT 1:57, EMERGENCY SERVICES WERE CALLED A WHOLE ELEVEN MINUTES AFTER THEY WERE TOLD, AT 2:08
AMBULANCES DIDNT EVEN ARRIVE UNTILL 2:35, FIRETRUCKS HADNT BEEN CALLED TILL 2:41
ALL THE PEOPLE ON THE RIDE WERE STUCK 25FT UP AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE FOR FOUR AND A HALF HOURS BEFORE EMS COULD REMOVE EVERYONE FROM THE RIDE SAFELY
THERE WHERE NO DEATHS! BUT LOTS OF INJURIES AND TRAUMA <3
I DREW UR OC CAUSE I FEEL BAD ABOUT INFO DUMPING ON UR POST<3
