if. if i may also throw in my two cents as a long time pokemon fan though this will get quite long -

first wanted to share some thoughts on mons suggested by others that i think are based picks:

we got the star themed ones of course

staryu or starmie - fun fact as starfish they are able to regrow their limbs as long as their cores aren’t broken which is also a thing puzzles has kinda done a couple times? hes retreated into his tv head while injured to pop out healed a few times. (leggy episode calls this out explicitly i think?) starmie’s cores are also stated to flash in weird patterns when no ones looking almost like theyre trying to broadcast a signal up into space.

jirachi - as mentioned by other users theyre actually really hard to get due to being event based BUT the only consistent way to get them is from the spinoff game Pokemon Channel which is a wildly weird coincidence but mega fitting as it is the game where you just. sit around watching pokemon shorts with pikachu 90% of the time. (specifically to get jirachi you need to ‘beat’ a european version of the game to transfer it to a hoenn gameboy game which is a process but not impossible to do) but also a pokemon puzzles absolutely would want cause of the wish granting power.

minior - theyre based on konpeito ontop of the obvious star and meteor themes. fun fact they actually have very short life spans. man cannot get to keep his five stars for long no matter how he gets them.

luxray - star mane, electric claws, has x ray vision. idk this ones less thematic but not a bad pick to me.

aside from star themed ones:

missingno - fun glitch themes. feel like this leans into the themes of the keyboard stuff as well as wotfi because it corrupts the world around it. it also was the source of alot of playground rumors back in the day and can be used to get mew if memory serves at the cost of corrupting the game to the point of being unplayable.

rotom - literally possesses electronics and the first time we see one it comes out a tv.

jigglypuff - in the anime it is constantly trying to get people to listen to its performance but it never works out due to its singing putting the audience to sleep… it then scribbles on everyones faces out of spite.

hypno / malamar - brainwashing / hypnotism

joltik - honestly there would probably be a small infestation of these in that building he broadcasts from cause they eat electricity. funny to imagine one clinging to the back of his head or such. theres also that one hybrid au with spider puzzles that comes to mind.

xurkitree - looks like him what with the cable limbs and silly movements. also on account of being a ultra beast (pokemon from alternate dimensions basically long story) it tends to cause chaos wherever it goes intentionally or no so make of that what you will. could probably tie it to the tv dimension inside puzzles head.

mr rime - old school tap dancing and mime performer and similar naming scheme. can materialize screens and other invisible objects with psychic powers so thats fun. i feel like puzzles would send it to mess with the smg4 crew if anything.

porygon - able to enter electronics. while fitting i think its better suited to Tari as ontop of that being a shared ability porygon 2 specifically kinda looks like a rubber duck. which is apparently a reference to rubber duck debugging. porygon z on the other hand is often noted to be a corrupted version of porygons programming. unlike rotom they cant really posses electronics so much as enter them to gather information and then leave.

Mimikyu - they disguise themselves as pikachu because they want friends and popularity. the anime and the games tend to vary on how much of this is out of spiteful jealousy and thus hating pikachu or just pure loneliness. could help with costume department i bet, or a similar emotional support role to leggy.

banette - a toy someone abandoned that becomes possessed and spiteful towards its previous owner. theyre also in the group of ghost types that specifically feed off negative emotions (or at least shuppet definitely does)

phantump - its a ghost kid that got lost in the forest.

chatot - microphone parrot. fits general showman theme.

meowscarada - a magician and performer themed, theyre also part dark type which are typically known for being willing to use underhanded tactics to win battles.

and lastly heres some of my ideas i havent seen others suggest:

plusle and minun - he could use some cheerleaders but itd be fitting if he only had one of the two and thus could not make use of their ability where they are much stronger when they can work together as a team.

pawmot - this is largely because of the trauma center reference in the dora parody episode as these guys are living defibrillators. they dont change much between evolutions.

castform - weather channel.

yamask - a ghost pokemon thats mask represents its face when it was alive… i feel like theres some fun someone could do with that.

hi i am a pokemon girlie (gender neutral). chatot + mime jr + pikachu + jigglypuff + wobbuffet + metagross. if he's a basic bitch his ace is jigglypuff and if he's not it's chatot
