Family reunion
(A quick scenario, here’s a link to the headcanon, hope you enjoy)
Somehow while spending some peaceful time with your dragons. You meet your family again, the one who banished you. And you're having more than less pleasing time seeing them again.
Requested by Anonymous
Warnings: None
-----------------------------------------------------------
"(Name), it's so good to see you again. I've see you have been doing well and even managed to hatch the egg you stole from the Dragon pitt," Your brother grinned while looking at Malleniel, who was sitting on your shoulder. "A quite beautiful dragon I must say," He said, trying to touch her. Malleniel hissed and snapped at him, making him pull back his hand.
You sighed. "Yes and I would appreciate that you you keep your hands to yourself and besides the egg belonged to Skarlax, so I had the right to take it with me," You said, petting Malleniel and calming her down.
"And what do you want? Wasn't I supposed to be banished?" You questioned while looking at the rest of your family. "There's no need to use such a harsh tone with us, son. We made a mistake, so give us a chance," Your father explained, making you scoff. "Yeah that mistake being me getting banished for false accusation and unwillingness to shed innocent blood," You uttered then you all heard loud beats of wings. You smiled when you saw Smaug and Skarlax land in the courtyard.
"My god --- (Name), where did you find such a dragon?" Your uncle asked as he marveled Smaug's size. "This is Smaug. He has been my kind host ever since I was banished and forced to look for a new home. Don't get close to him, he doesn't like people," You explained while Malleniel flapped her wings excitedly when she saw him.
"Well, since you brought him here. I might consider letting you return to us," Your father said, making you look at him with wide eyes. "I think you're mistaken, father. I did not bring him as a sympathy gift," You said. " And I have no intentions coming back to you," You stated with anger in your eyes.
"(Name), don't be a fool. Why would you throw away such a chance?" Your mother sneered at you. "You are horrible people, none of you ever appreciated me and I prefer peace than violence," You explained. "And besides Smaug is a wild dragon and will never take a rider," You pointed at him.
"You seem to be just fine with him," Your brother said and you were about to talk back at him till Smaug decided to break the silence. "Pathetic worms. You really think I would be so mindless to allow a rat to ride me. I would burn you before you even get the chance," He sneered at your family. "And he can speak," You added.
Your family stood there shocked after Smaug spoke. You enjoyed the rest of your day watching them scurry around like rats and trying to talk with him about politics or get him to join which was entertaining. And when they didn't get through him and almost got burned to grisp, you were finally allowed to leave and forget everything that happened.

Yandere Smaug Headcanons (platonic)
Smaug would be extremely possessive of his darling and just as protective. They are the most valuable possession amongst his hoard after all, his most precious treasure. Their worth is more than all the gold and jewels in the world to him. So much so that he could never part with them. That’s why he insists, or rather demands you stay amongst his hoard, where he knows it’s safe. Besides, you’re surrounded by so many beautiful, shiney things and they’re all yours.
Of course you would be kept in the safety of his sanctum after he’s taken the Lonely Mountain for himself. Harbored amongst all the gold, gems and jewels you couldn’t possibly think of, right where Smaug wants you most. He couldn’t possibly fathom any harm coming to his precious one, not when you have him to protect you.
Smaug is extremely strict about allowing his precious one to go anywhere, even if it is to venture off to another part of his sanctum. He doesn’t like not having them within his sight. He hates the thought of them getting hurt or lost, but he especially despises the idea of them ever stepping foot outside his lair. If that were to ever happen his panic and anger couldn’t possibly be repressed.
If his darling were to stray too far or is gone just a little too long for his liking/comfort, Smaug will follow their scent and drag them back to where he feels most comfortable keeping having them. There are very few places he allows them to venture to and he knows them all by heart, being more than capable to go after them if need be and easily retrieve his darling, bringing them back to the only real space he’s comfortable with them staying kept in. It keeps them closest to him and he can keep his eye on them in every sense of the word, even when he’s sleeping he’ll know if they make even the slightest of changes in their usual movements. Smaug is very well aware of his environment and the space he’s resigned himself to, he’ll know if they take even just one step out of the perimeter he’s allowed them to move freely about.
As much as he spoils his darling, Smaug really only rewards good and obedient behavior. Anything less than or just blatant disobedience won’t be take lightly. Smaug demands respect, especially from his little darling. It’s because of him that you are safe and so well taken care of, the least you can do is show some gratitude and appreciation towards him.
As gruff and grumpy as Smaug can be there are times he can be quite playful with his little darling, especially if it’s what they want and they’ve been pretty well behaved. It didn’t take him long to realize that often then not when his darling would venture off and stray away from where he demanded they stay kept was to solely get him to chase after them in a playful game of tag or hide and seek. He can usually tell the difference in whether his darling is trying to make a run for it or is simply trying to get him to play with them. It’s the gigging that really gives it away.
Not only can Smaug be playful but he’s also an excellent storyteller. When he really wants some peace and quiet or to just get his darling to go to sleep in general, Smaug will use his tail to bring them close to him, curling it around them to keep them in place then he goes on telling them stories of his adventures. Sometimes when his darling is really restless he’ll ask them what story they want to hear but more times then not his stories usually involve him boasting and bragging about himself. He especially takes care to make it clear to his darling that he is in fact the biggest dragon to ever exist. Of course it’s a complete lie but his darling doesn’t know that, and even if they were to question him about it he wouldn’t let up. As far as Smaug’s concerned he is the biggest dragon around now.
As much as Smaug typically comes off as aloof or even flat out terrifying he does hold some genuine care for his darling, even if it is just a little. His obsession is primarily possessive with that possessiveness only becoming all the worse the more his obsession festers and grows. Eventually his darling will become something more than just an object for him to own, they’ll become a treasure he certainly doesn’t want anyone or anything else getting ahold of. And with that said he will do anything to keep them with him, and only with him. He will reign hellfire down on anyone or anything that dares to steal his darling treasure away from him.

the hobbit: “stargazing” ₊˚ ⸝ smaug x reader
❝isn't this such a beautiful night? we're underneath a thousand shining stars.❞
gif credit: n/a song: steven universe soundtrack - be wherever you are
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥
pairings: smaug x reader
warnings: none
summary: you convince your dragon friend, smaug, to get outside of erebor for once and go stargazing with you.
“Uhm, helloooo?” You call out as you walk into Thror’s treasure hoard. Your shouts echoed off the walls which could most likely be heard across the whole kingdom. The kingdom that was now abandoned, sadly. You were a simple woman who traveled all the way to Erebor to gaze upon the riches and empty kingdom that used to belong to the Dwarves. However, you woke up Smaug. You expected him to consume you with fire, and you were sure you would meet your end. Instead of him killing you, you somehow ended up talking for hours on end, and that day, a very unlikely friendship bloomed. “Smaug, you fat lump! Where are you hiding now?” A growl deep within a big pile of gold alerted you of Smaug’s presence. With a sigh, you leaned down and dug through the gold until you found Smaug’s eye. It suddenly fluttered open, startling you. “Hey, big guy!”
“Do not address me with such names.”
“Ugh, you’re so sensitive,” you pouted. “Come on, now. You gotta get out of this hell hole.” Smaug blinked several times before emerging from the pile of riches, towering over you. If this was your first time meeting him, you would be quaking. But you knew Smaug would never hurt you.
“Now, what gives you the idea that I’ll be leaving anytime soon?”
You rolled your eyes at Smaug’s stubbornness.
“I don’t care if you wanna go or not. We’re going, and that’s final. You’ve slept for days now, you lazy bum.” Smaug let out another growl at your name calling, but you weren’t intimidated the least bit. Without another word, you walked out of the treasure hoard, knowing Smaug would follow. He somehow found his way through the pillars and tunnels that were much smaller than him and soon caught up.
“Where are we going, little human?”
You giggled upon hearing Smaug’s little nickname for you.
“Outside. It’s been quiet a while since you’ve breathed the fresh air, huh?”
“I suppose..”
No words were exchanged after that. You quickened your pace and exited the kingdom, Smaug crawling behind you, trying his best not to do anymore damage to Erebor than he’s already done. You found a nice spot big enough for the two of you and sat down, staring up into the sky. The night was chilly, with little cold breezes hitting you, but you ignored the coldness and gazed up at the night sky. The clouds cleared up, allowing the blue moonlight to beam down on you and highlight every little detail on your face.
“Now..” Smaug questioned beside you. “What’s so special about tonight?” Instead of responding verbally, you pointed up at the night sky, littered with millions of shining stars. But Smaug didn’t seem to understand. He groaned, “It’s just stars.. What is the big fuss about?”
You shot Smaug an annoyed glare. “Oh, come on. Don’t you think the night is beautiful?” You then pointed up to a shooting star, “You need to learn to appreciate the little things in life besides your gold.” Smaug stayed silent and took a moment to stare up at the night sky above him, soon becoming mesmerized. “See? I knew it!” Smaug didn’t want to admit it, but he knew you were indeed right.
“Well..” Smaug started, “Then we should do this every night.”

Worth More Than Gold
Relationship: Smaug x reader
Warnings: Fluff, mentions of fire, Smaug is a tad insecure
Summary: You never cared about the gold or treasures Under the Mountain. All you sought was some company and found the most unlikely of companions. Now, the dragon can’t bear to part with you despite his doubts.
All writings belong to me @bakerstreethound (Do NOT claim, copy, repost, or translate my works to other sites. I only publish here and on A03 under the same username)
Word Count: 766
A/N: Listen, I was wanting to cuddle this dragon so...I may have selfishly wrote it because of that. Please don’t judge. I love this dragon so platonically and would love to have this bond with him any day...just think of the CUDDLES not to mention how protective he is. Also, @frostandflamesfanfic may have inspired me to do like two more follow up parts to this one. I hope you enjoy!
====================================
They told you to stay away from the mountain, but what was left for you in that sphere of the world? There wasn’t much to say in the least. But, you were happier here than you ever were before. The company you craved was answered in the form of a glorious dragon, who you feared would turn you away, but the months spent in his company improved his mood slowly but surely and he felt himself growing softer towards you. You didn’t care for the riches around you, wanting him for his company. All he ever wanted was the gold but it worked out between you.
You find yourself yawning after you get back from the library, leaning against Smaug’s slumbering form, but he glances at you curiously studying the book in your hand.
His massive head cranes toward you, huffing at the book you hold out for him to inspect.
“Tell me a story.” His massive wing gently guides you closer to him, where you can get more comfortable and you settle down, opening up the ancient book carefully, allowing yourself to get lost in the pages, and soon you find your eyes unable to focus much longer, the book falling from your hands as you cuddle closer to Smaug. One of his massive wings drapes over you, pulling you closer.
He looks down at you from where you are curled against him, so small and fragile, huddled against him for warmth. He huffs to himself in annoyance, oddly feeling reassured by you next to him slumbering away, fighting off the occasional shiver.
His gaze sweeps the cavern, his narrow eyes catch only the shimmering gold littering his glorious cavern, before he curls his body around you more, burying his head under an assortment of jewelry goblets and armor.
You mumble something in your sleep and one of your hands reaches out to stroke his scales. A low rumble resounds, and you smile softly to yourself knowing he secretly is enjoying the simplicity of you being here with him.
“You are supposed to be asleep.” His low rumble resounds, yet he makes no effort to move, not even when you turn to stroke his wing, and a smile tugs at your lips.
“Is that a crime? My being awake, that is.”
“Thought humans required long naps for three months.”
“Your conception of humans is a long way off, but I wish I could hibernate that long,” you groan fighting off another yawn, the warmth of him a comfort. You fumble through to find your book, chuckling to yourself when you find it unsurprisingly buried under rare jewels anyone in Middle Earth would care to have.
Everything here costs a fortune beyond anything you could imagine and you can't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. You were sleeping next to the pale silver delicate jewels of some Elvish noble with the most feared creature in Middle Earth of all time.
“I wasn’t wrong about you. You like it here for some reason. There’s nothing here beyond all the riches in Middle Earth others dream about and you’ve taken nothing.” He growls low, red fire glowing like an ember from within him.
You don’t move, don’t shudder at the display. You feel oddly at peace with this overgrown furnace.
“I don’t want any of these treasures. For a fearsome dragon, you can be oddly dense at times. I want to be with you. I’m here because believe it or not I actually enjoy your company.”
His massive head turns towards you, the sound of gold dripping from his glorious scales as he blinks, processing, snorting almost laughing at the notion. Who’d ever heard of such a thing? Is someone here because they like or tolerate him? He the monster dwarven children fear at night?
Carefully you reach out to him, stroking his nose not caring or fearing the sharp teeth could rip into your flesh, breaking you apart in an instant. If he wanted to kill you, he would have done it sooner, run you out of the cavern, or burned you to a crisp the moment you held a single golden coin of his in your hand. Safe to say, you were unimpressed by it, more interested in Smaug himself.
“If you are that dense, then I guess I could take my leave of this place…”
“NO” he roars, a ball of spinning fire bolts across the corridor, barely singing your hair. Your heart races, but not in fear.
“Stay…I want you to stay…stay…stay” the cavern echoes, enveloping you in the fiery flames.

Support me with Ko-Fi
Thranduil x F!Reader, Platonic Bard x Reader
Summary: The Reader is left with nothing but three bottles of wine after Smaug destroyed Laketown. Stuck in Dale with no plan and no family, she has no idea how she will survive until the Elven King comes to town.
Note: Suggestive material, minors DNI. This started as a one shot and ended up as a full story. You can read the rest on A03.
All Italics are Elvish.
Chapter 1: It Started with a Crate of Wine
I had lived in Laketown all my life, but after the death of my parents, there weren’t many options for me. Many didn’t expect a woman to do more than marry and bear children, but I was determined to make a living for myself. I tried to learn to fish, but the men wouldn’t allow me to do so on their boats with the excuse being it was too much trouble to get a permit from the Master. I couldn’t sew or find anyone willing to teach me in the small town. The only place willing to hire me was the Master's house as a maid and I preferred to stay far away from there.
At a loss of what to do, I had asked Bard if he knew anyone willing to hire me for anything. He mentioned the brewmaster, Jonas, needed help. He had three sons but two were too young to help around the brewery. After much begging, Jonas agreed to let me assist him. He was grateful for the help, and was especially thankful that I was not only a fast learner, but had a knack for the craft. For the past four years, I had been training under the brewmaster in Laketown, not only learning how to make ale, but also wine and liquor alongside him and his sons. Finally, I thought life was going the way it was meant to and I couldn’t have been happier.
After Smaug had destroyed the town, Jonas had tried salvaging what was left of his home. Because of the lack of supplies and space, he had regretfully let me go unsure if he’d ever be able to utilize his trade again. His family had retreated into the remains of Dale with everyone else and left me by the shore. Not knowing what to do, I wandered aimlessly around what remained from Laketown managing to rescue a few bottles of wine that survived and floated to shore. I heard my name being called and looked up from my bottles to see Bard rushing over.
“Oh thank the gods you made it! Are your children alright?” I called out as I rose from my crouched position to meet him.
“Yes, everyone is safe. Are you alright?” He answered. I felt relief at his words knowing Bain, Sigrid, and Tilda were safe.
“Yes, I’m glad to have made it out of there,” I looked over my shoulder at what remained of home. Smoke was still visible from where we stood.
Bard looked down at the shore and saw the wine I saved. Picking up a bottle, he rolled it in his grip. “These are yours?” He questioned.
I nodded. “They survived and floated over. I’m keeping them for now. I could trade them for food. Maybe a blanket.”
Bard’s eyes raked over my soaked and tattered dress and apron with sympathy.
“Don’t worry, you can stay with us,” He decided as he picked up the crate I’d been putting the bottles in.
“I don’t want to be a burden. I can find somewhere-,” I tried to argue, but he would have none of that.
“Y/N, please,” he countered, “You are no burden. We have supplies for tonight and I don’t feel comfortable leaving you alone.” He paused for a moment. “Did Jonas make it?”
I nodded in response. “His whole family, luckily.”
“And you didn’t go with them?” I knew he was genuinely curious because almost everyone knew I had grown close with the family in my time working with him and his children.
“The future is uncertain and he has his family to care for. I’m an adult. I can take care of myself if I have to.” I tried pulling the crate into my own arms but Bard refused to let go.
“You are not a burden,” he repeated. “We’ve holed up in one of the buildings. It still has a roof. Bain and I will salvage what we can. I ask that you stay with my daughters while we’re out.”
“Thank you, Bard,” I relented and followed him to one of the buildings in the middle of Dale.
The next morning, I awoke between Sigrid and Tilda across from Bain still wrapped in his blanket. I sat up and wrapped mine around the girls. Tilda stirred as I stood back from them. I silently cursed. I hadn’t wanted to wake the children, but I desperately needed some fresh air. Everything that had happened seemed like a blur and I needed to plan my next move. I couldn’t stay with Bard’s family forever as much as I adored them. Bard already had enough to bear on his own. I wouldn’t allow him another burden.
“Where are you going?” Sigrid mumbled sleepily. “Da said to stay here.”
“Just outside. I won’t go far,” I promised.
Seemingly accepting my answer, her head lolled back as she fell back into sleep. I smiled down at her as she curled around Tilda’s smaller form and made my way to the door. I slipped outside shading my eyes from the bright sun. The sharp wind bit at my skin causing me to violently shiver. Pulling my coat tighter around me I walked down toward the center of town looking for Bard.
Suddenly, a white horse turned the corner down the tight alleyway and I slammed myself against the wall to avoid being trampled. Gasping for breath, I looked up as the rider, whom I now realized was an elf, stopped right in front of me.
“My apologies,” he nodded his head before continuing down the path, albeit slower. I watched him ride away still shocked that I was nearly run over. Confused as to what an elf was doing in Dale, I rushed to the square and found more elves amidst carts full of food being handed out to chaotic crowd. Pushed from my original spot as the crowd thickened, I made my way up a set of stairs to continue my search for Bard. I spotted him at the forefront of the group speaking to who I assumed was the Elven King who looked absolutely regal and intimidating upon his elk. His eyes were sharp as they glanced over at the crowd eagerly accepting his aide, face remaining neutral in the chaos.
I scrambled back down the steps and waited off to the side trying to get Bard’s attention. After a few minutes, he came to me with a sack of supplies the elves had brought.
“Take these back to the children and stay there.” He had a grim look on his face which made my stomach clench in dread.
“Bard, what’s going on?” My voice conveyed my worry.
He shook his head in frustration. “There may be war, but I am hoping to avoid it if possible. Go back to the house, and tell no one of what we have spoken of. I will be there as soon as I can.”
Still worried, but trusting Bard, I hurried back to his children evading their questions about their father and the elves. Night fell quickly and the children and I sat huddled around a small fire Bain made. I had Tilda in my arms trying to keep her small body warm. I made sure they ate, but saved enough to ration out so they would not go hungry in the ensuing days. I did not know how long the elves would help.
“Y/n, where is Da?” Tilda questioned me as she sat in my lap.
“He’s with the Elven King. Probably still discussing how much longer they’ll aid us.” I spoke confidently even though I was worried about everything. The thought of war lingered in the back of my mind. How much more loss could we take?
“If they’re here to help us, why did they bring weapons?” Bain muttered angrily.
As I was about to respond, Bard walked through the door. He was breathing heavy as if he had run from the elves’ camp to the house.
“Da!” His children ran from their spots, blankets falling onto the floor, as their arms wrapped around him. I could hear Tilda sniffle as she began to cry and so I went over to comfort her.
“Y/n,” Bard interrupted my movements. “Where is the wine?”
I stopped and then walked to the crate pulling the three bottles out.
“They’re here. Do you need them?” I brought them over to him.
“Yes, thank you. King Thranduil loves his drink. He’s run low. I offered him what he had. I’ll return shortly,” he spoke to his children and took the bottles from my arms. They reluctantly let go of him rushing back to grab their blankets they had dropped.
“I know you were planning to barter these,” he whispered to me. “I will repay you for them.”
Shaking my head, I refused. “You’ve already helped me enough. I want nothing in return.”
He smiled warmly in thanks but I felt he’d try to return the favor anyway.
I expected Bard to return later, long after his children drifted off, but I was surprised when not twenty minutes later he was standing in the door way again. Before I could ask him if everything was alright, he gestured for me to follow him outside. I settled his children before heading to the opened door. There was an elf standing outside the house, the same one that nearly ran me down. He was stoic, like earlier, and his presence unnerved me. Bard quickly pulled me over to him so that we were a few steps away from the elf and facing the door. His worried look did nothing to ease my nerves.
“The wine you had. You did make it, correct?” I nodded dumbly. His face didn’t change.
“The King wants to see you,” his voice was hushed. He set his hands on my shoulders and gripped them tightly.
After a beat, I gasped out, “Why?!” I was absolutely terrified. Had I displeased him? The King had to know we were limited in supplies. It was not like we had Dorwinion wine laying around for him. Bard looked behind me before answering as I felt someone step behind me.
“My lady, we must make haste. King Thranduil is not a patient ellon.” The elf said. “I am to take you to him now.”
“Bard?” Nervous I turned back to him silently asking if he was coming as well.
“I have to stay with the children,” he responded. He gently urged me toward the elf. “Feren will escort you there. Don’t worry,” he whispered the last part.
Reluctantly I followed Feren to the elves’ camp that was erected in a field near the ruins of Dale. I realized I must look a mess after the ordeal we’d been through and I spoke my concerns as we approached the largest tent in the center of the camp. I knew King Thranduil must be in there.
“I am not dressed properly,” I looked down at the shredded ends of my dress, stained with dirt and soot. At least I was dry now.
Without turning to me, Feren responded. “King Thranduil knows of the struggles your people have recently faced and is prepared to see you as you are.”
If I could possibly feel worse, I would. Self-consciously, I started rubbing at my face just in case I had any dirt smudged there. Feren noticed, but said nothing.
We stopped at the flap of the tent where two guards were stationed. Feren spoke to them. He put up a hand for me to wait and then entered the tent. I could hear him speak, but could not make out what he was saying. It was probably Sindarin which I couldn’t understand anyway. Someone else responded and the brunette elf opened the flap back and motioned for me to enter.
Walking into the tent, I was taken aback at how ridiculously ornate everything was. All this comfort for a few days away? My mind was so shaken I didn’t realize Feren was announcing me to the King who sat lounging in his chair staring at me amused. I had already seen him from afar, but this close I could see just how handsome and intimidating he was. He was, by far, the most ethereal being I had ever laid eyes on and I felt my heart race just looking at him. The self-conscious feeling returned and I looked down at my feet to hide my reddened cheeks.
“Leave us,” Thranduil waved his hand and Feren bowed before exiting the tent. Unsure of what to say or do, I just stood there in silence afraid of embarrassing myself further.
“Are you the brewmaster of Laketown?” He asked.
“No, your majesty,” I said softly, still unable to look directly at him.
“No?” He hummed to himself. “Have they sent a tavern maid then?” He was insulting me, but what could I say in retaliation to a king? I decided to just answer honestly and plainly while I was in his tent.
“No, your majesty. I was not the brewmaster, but I trained under him.”
“I see, so you did make this wine then?” He gestured to the table next to him where one of the three bottles Bard had taken sat next to an ornate goblet. Thranduil lifted it to his lips and took a long sip. The sight made me swallow hard.
“Is it not to your taste, your majesty? I apologize as this was all the wine we salvaged from the facility.”
He held up his hand to silence me and took another sip, still watching me. “How long have you trained?”
“Four years,” I summoned the courage to look at him. His eyebrows drew together as he examined me and I fought the urge to look away again.
“You worked in a brewery. Can you make ale as well?” He took a long sip of the wine after asking.
“Yes, that is what we mostly brew and I also make a wicked cider.” I smiled fondly remembering the recipe I’d been working on before Smaug burned the town.
“Wicked cider?” Thranduil sounded amused again and I immediately stumbled over a “Yes, your majesty”.
“Anything else?” He set the goblet back down on the table.
“We were a the only brewery so we made all the alcohol for the town. I can make liquor as well out of, well, out of a few things.” I finished hoping he wouldn’t ask any more questions. I just wanted him to explain what he wanted me here for. I opened my mouth to ask, but couldn’t manage to get the words out.
He silenced me again when he stood from his pseudo-throne and towered over me. My head tilted up to meet his gaze. Valar, he was tall.
“A brewmaster, a vintner, and a distiller all wrapped in one package, hmm? Quite impressive for such a young girl,” Thranduil teased, tilting his head to the side as he walked around my trembling form. As he came to stand in front of me again, he nodded to himself.
“Bard tells me you are orphaned.” He said it so easily.
I nodded before responding. “I am,” I tried to speak clearly through my nerves.
“No family, no husband, no job,” he drawled. “What ever shall you do?”
Sitting back down, he grabbed his goblet again. After another long sip, he spoke again.
“You know why we are here, do you not?”
“War,” I whispered.
“Indeed, I have come for something that belongs to me and once I have it, we shall return to Mirkwood. You will come with us,” he stated.
I sputtered in disbelief at what just passed through his lips. He smirked at my antics. I was beginning to think he liked making fun of me.
“I am in need of a proper brewmaster and now that Laketown is gone, I will need a vintner as well. You will return to Mirkwood with us,” he paused his explanation. “Unless you’d rather stay here.”
I did not know if I would ever feel at home in Mirkwood, but the king was giving me an opportunity I could not pass up. I had no plans and nothing left in Dale so I didn’t hesitate to give him my answer.
“It would be my honor to serve you, King Thranduil,” I lowered my head respectfully.
“Well now that that is settled, you may leave. I will send for you before we ride to Mirkwood,” he stopped to call out in Sindarin. Feren appeared in the entrance of the tent and bowed.
“Feren will escort you back. Do not leave the city, Lady Y/N.” He waved us away and I followed my escort back to the building I was staying in. I thanked the elf as he left and entered the building. The children were asleep, but Bard quickly rose from where he was seated.
“Are you alright?” He was clearly worried.
“Yes, I’m alright,” I began. “King Thranduil has asked me to return to Mirkwood with the elves.”
Bard looked at me in disbelief. I explained everything that had transpired between the king and I as well as my fears of the future in Dale and becoming a burden.
“He is not forcing you to go, is he?”
I shook my head. “No, I swear. He may not have offered the choice, but I want to go,” I explained.
“There are no humans in the forest, Y/N. Will you be alright around all the elves? They rarely tolerate outsiders,” He argued.
Shaking off his doubt, I reassured him that I was happy use my craft. “I just hope the elves like what I make,” I joked.
“King Thranduil seems to,” Bard pulled me deeper into the room so that we could rest. Making my way to where his girls were, I settled down next to them, pulling the extra blanket over myself. I looked over to Bard who was lying next to Bain.
“Goodnight, Bard,” I whispered. “And thank you for everything.”
“Goodnight, y/n,” he whispered back.
_______
The children and I had barely escaped the ensuing chaos of the battle. The girls and I had hid after being saved by Bard. I couldn’t believe we were living through this nightmare. Tilda’s little hangs clung to my dress and I held her tightly in return. Sigrid was pulled up against my side. After what felt like hours, the battle was over and we walked out to see just what carnage it had brought. The girls and I continued on the path towards the building we had been staying in and I was pleased to see it was still standing. After ushering them inside, we sat and waited huddled together.
Not long after, Bard ran through and pulled his children to his chest. Bain was with him and I started to sob into my hands. I was so grateful they had survived. A fire was started and Bard once again left to speak with Thranduil. I stayed up watching over the children, afraid that if I closed my eyes, the orcs would be running through the city again.
When Bard returned, two elves accompanied him. I recognized Feren, but the other was a female I had never seen before. She bowed her head in greeting and handed me a bundle of clothing. As I looked it over, I realized it was travel attire. I nodded my head and silently entered an abandoned part of the building to quickly change into the leggings and tunic. I thought about wrapping my dress back up, but it was so ruined with blood and dirt, I just left it crumpled on the ground and returned to where they waited for me.
“I wish you the best,” Bard said as I approached. He pulled me into a hug and I quickly returned it as I began to tear up. “Thank you for watching over them,” he smiled.
“And thank you for watching over me, King Bard,” I teased so I wouldn’t feel so sad leaving. “I don’t want to wake them. Please tell them I will miss them,” I said, releasing him from my hold. “I wish you and your children all the happiness in the world.”
Feren led me over to the white horse he nearly ran me down with. I placed my foot in the stirrup and pulled myself up into the saddle. I nearly yelped when the elf slid into the seat behind me causing the female elf to snicker as she mounted her bay mare. I wasn’t expecting him, but then again there were only two horses. I felt lucky they weren’t making me walk.
His hands gripped the reins, effectively trapping me between his arms. My body tensed as I felt his chest against my back.
“Again I apologize, my lady,” he spoke as we started back towards the camp. “We lost many horses to the battle.” I felt him lean his head closer to my ear. “And this way, I will be sure not to trample you,” he chuckled softly.
Laughing along with him, I relaxed and let him lead on until we reached the camp. The tents were already packed up leaving no trace of the elves. The other elf with us spoke to Feren in Sindarin before riding ahead to catch up to the remaining group ahead. We rode at a slower pace, but caught up eventually nevertheless. I took one last look at Dale and knew I would miss what was left of home, but I couldn’t help but look forward to what awaited me in Mirkwood.
1 year later
Galion, the king’s steward, strolled into the cellar, eyes roaming around the converted brewery for me. My eyes caught his from the top of the tank.
“What can I do for you, Galion?” I called down to him with a smile on my face.
“Good evening, mellon. King Thranduil requests your presence for dinner,” he explained.
Confusion crossed my face as I descended the steps to stand in front of the tall elf. Galion was one of the few elves I interacted with as the impromptu brewmaster Thranduil acquired. It was not that they disliked me, although I was certain some of them were wary of me. Mirkwood elves were not used to humans after all. I tended to hole up in the cellar most of the day, so I rarely saw anyone outside of the palace staff and a handful of guards that patrolled the area.
As if Galion read my mind, he responded with, “He did not say why, but he asked that you be there.”
I shook my head. It was unusual for Thranduil and myself to cross paths in the palace, but I had been invited to dine with him before on several occasions. He seemed lonelier now that the prince had left and I supposed he was starving for company.
I sighed knowing I’d have to go get ready soon if I wanted to be on time. I had just started working on a new recipe and I hated leaving anything unfinished. With another long sigh, I headed toward a shelf that held my more experimental varieties of wine and liquor. My fingers grazed over the labels until I found what I was looking for. I grabbed the dark bottle and handed it to Galion as we started up the stairs.
“Let me know what you think of this one,” I said making my way up to my room. Galion followed beside me.
“Thank you, mellon. I’m sure Elros and I will enjoy it. Is this the one you made with the berries from the gardens?” He rolled the bottle in his hand appreciatively.
I confirmed with a nod. Galion and another elf, Elros, had quickly become my unofficial tasters when I arrived a year ago. Rather, they volunteered for the opportunity without provocation. They approved everything I sent to Thranduil because, as Galion put it, they knew his taste best. The two of them, aside from my maid, Calanthe, were the ones I felt most comfortable around, though Feren wasn’t far behind. I later learned he was not as stoic as he seemed, and enjoyed visiting with him when I got the chance.
Galion left me at my door and I found Calanthe already inside preparing a dress for me from my closet. King Thranduil was generous enough to provide me with a large wardrobe after I settled in. Calanthe had also been assigned to serve me as well as teach me the language, although my lessons were not progressing as fast as anyone hoped.
“There you are,” she smiled at me. “Does this suit you for this evening?” She gestured to the dress laying on my bed.
“It’s beautiful,” I said as I ran my fingers over the silky material. The deep red was rich in color and I couldn’t wait to get it on.
“Ah, ah,” Calanthe chided. “Bath first.” She pointed you the adjoining bathroom. I laughed as I followed her directions and saw she had already drawn the bath for me.
After bathing, she helped me pull the red silk on and fix the corset in the back. The sleeves’ seam was opened from the shoulder and closed at the wrist showing the skin of my arms. The corset accented my waist, though it was hard to breathe. I preferred to wear my shorter dresses with tights when I was in the cellar but I supposed that would be inappropriate for dinner with the Elven King.
She sat me down at the vanity and braided my hair for me since mine never came out nice enough. Even after a year of living with the elves, and practicing on Calanthe’s deep blonde mane, I still hadn’t mastered the skill and was teased for my crooked plaits. Calanthe made two on each side and joined them behind my head.
“I would do something more intricate, but we are going to be late.” She moved so I could rise from the seat.
“You did a beautiful job as always, mellon.” I smiled at her and allowed her to exit the room ahead of me.
The material swept across the floor as I followed Calanthe to the dining room. The guard nodded at us and opened the door for me to enter. Thranduil was already seated at the head of the table dressed in silver robes and a matching circlet rather than his crown. As I approached he gestured for me to join him, a servant pulling the chair next to him for me.
I bowed in greeting. “Good evening, Aran nin. I thank you for inviting me to join you.”
“I was beginning to think you’d declined my invitation.” He teased. One of the servants came and filled my glass with wine as I sat down.
“I apologize, Aran nin. Galion caught me working on a new blend and I was hesitant to leave it,” I explained.
He hummed and sipped at the wine. I did the same and blinked in surprise as it hit my tongue.
“This is-,” I began as I stared at the dark liquid in my glass.
“The wine you gave Galion. Yes, I decided I’d like to be the first to try it. Your skills have definitely bloomed since your time in Laketown.” Another sip and the servant was refilling his glass. I suddenly recalled Bard’s words about him enjoying his drink and smiled as I took another sip.
“I’m sure you have another bottle to give him, though, I think he and Elros could use a break as your tasters. I’d hate for them to enjoy it while they’re on duty.” Thranduil’s words dripped with sarcasm.
I covered my mouth as I giggled. I knew exactly how those dwarves had escaped the dungeons a year prior having heard some of the guards tell the story more than once. The king chucked softly at my own reaction.
“So, King Thranduil, why invite your brewmaster for dinner? I’m sure you are not lacking in good company.” Again, he smiled into his glass.
“I quite enjoy your company,” he drawled out.
“Surely you jest! I was under the impression you tolerate me because of my talent.” I playfully argued. He seemed to be in a good mood today which made me want to indulge his teasing just a bit.
Thranduil scoffed with a smile still gracing his face. “If anyone else spoke to me that way, they’d be in the dungeon. So, little one, I’d say I more than tolerate you despite your behavior. Besides, you are one of the few I can trust to be honest with me.”
“If you ask me for the truth, why should I lie to you?”
“Even if the truth upsets me?”
“I believe if I upset you, I wouldn’t live to see the next day so at least my suffering would be short lived.” I replied with a cheeky smile.
“You are too cruel, Hiril vuin.”
“My apologies, Aran nin.”
Another chuckle left him. He raised a hand and the servants brought out several plates piled with simmered rabbit and various roasted vegetables. I waited for Thranduil to serve himself first before I followed suit. We shared polite conversation over the meal, but I was still curious as to the real reason why he invited me.
“You still haven’t told me the real reason why I am here, my king.”
His face fell momentarily, but he quickly composed himself. After a pause, he answered. “I wanted to speak with you about returning to Dale.”
I nearly dropped my fork at his statement. “You wish for me to return to Dale?” I was in shock.
“Most of the city has been restored. You could have a brewery set up there if you wished. Of course, I would request you still fulfill the palace orders,” he paused to look me in the eyes. “In Dale, you could be around your own people.”
Not knowing how to feel, I tried not to get overwhelmed. Before I could think about what to do or say, I said, “If you wish for me to return to Dale, then simply say so. I did not know my presence was such a bother here.”
I bit my tongue as I finished. I jested about his anger beforehand, but I knew he really did anger easily and I worried of what he’d do now that I’d spoken out like that. His hand found mine on the table, his rings cool against my skin. His thumb ran across my knuckles surprisingly gentle. The touch was surprising, but not unwelcome.
“You misunderstand, Hiril vuin. I do not wish to send you away, but if you wish to be free, know that I will let you go.”
“You would give me that choice?”
“I want to know that you stay because you wish to, not because you feel you must.”
“You saved me. I am indebted to you.” I argued. He had given me a chance at a life for myself. I never thought I’d ever be more than a girl working in a washed out brewery. Here, I had full control of the entire facility. I was free to experiment with my craft and I answered to no one but the king himself. He had given me more freedom than I ever imagined, even if I was a subject of his realm.
His voice interrupted by thoughts. “I free you from your debt. If you wish to leave, I will ensure King Bard has a place for you in Dale. You two were friends, were you not?”
“I want to stay,” I nearly shouted and then caught myself. “I want to stay here in Mirkwood until you tire of me and my skills.”
He stood at my confession. “Come with me,” he commanded. Jumping to my feet, I caught him smile gently at my actions. “Let us take a walk.”
I followed Thranduil out of the dining room and down the adjoining hallway, trying to keep up with his long strides. He was silent, but upon noticing me trying to match his pace, he slowed. I recognized the path we were taking as soon as the hallway split. After a few moments, the two of us were in his throne room at the bottom of the steps.
“Aran nin,” I began, confused as to why he’d bring me here.
“Come, Y/N,” he offered his hand to me and I took it. He tucked my hand into the crook of his elbow and started ascending to his throne. I followed beside him in silence still trying to reason what we were doing here. We arrived at his throne while I was still deep in thought.
“Sit,” he released my hand as he maneuvered me to face him.
“But that is your throne,” I reasoned.
“I am well aware of what it is. Now as your king, I command you to sit.” His tone was authoritative but his gaze was playful. Shaking my head, I did as I was told and sat down on the polished wood. My hands ran over the smooth material admiring the craftsmanship. I felt intimidated by Thranduil looming over me so I looked behind him at the view from so far up.
“I can see why you like sitting here,” I said trying to fill the silence in the room. “But why am I sitting here?”
“I am rewarding you for your loyalty,” he was leaning over me now. His voice had deepened and I shivered at sound.
“By letting me sit in your throne?” I asked confused. It truly was an honor and I realized I should appreciate the gesture. Before I could explain what I meant, however, I was stopped by Thranduil’s chuckle. His gaze met mine as I watched him take a step closer to the throne, hands trailing up the edges of my dress and pushing it past my thighs. I gaped at him in shock trying to move back but his grip tightened and his dark gaze pinned me in place. He was smirking down at me and I had never felt smaller in my life. I followed his gaze as he sunk to his knees before me and ever so slowly pushed my legs apart.
“You should be grateful, meleth nin, for tonight I kneel before you.”

Father's hen
A/N: I have no idea how do three years old kids act, but here it is!! I hope Bofur isn't too OOC!
Request by @kpopgirlbtssvt
Hi!! Ahhh I’m sorry for ranting a lot!! I got excited lol😅. Feel free to do what whatever you’d like with this request! Can I please request a Post BOTFA (Everyone lives au!) Platonic!family!Company x human! 3 year old little girl reader (eventual Dad!Bofur x Daughter!reader) where some the dwarves + Bilbo found her all by herself near Erebor (which I’m sure they’d be confused how such a tiny, young human could’ve found her way near the mountain, and after determining she doesn’t have anywhere to go (I’m guessing they’d get this information from Gandalf since she’s so young), they bring her up to Erebor with them and after a bit of convincing, Thorin lets the company take her in as their own. She especially bonds with Bofur (Idk why, but I can so see him as a dad!) as he is just such a sweetheart and he’s the one who carried her into Erebor (plus Y/n would love the cute toys he makes). I’m sure she’d live with Bofur, like he’d make her food, protect her, play with her, read/tell her stories, give her lots of hugs and love, all the sweet fatherly things 🥺 Y/n eventually calling him “daddy” (he would be SO SOFT!!). All of the dwarves + Bilbo + Gandalf would love her sooo much (and would be EXTREMELY protective)🥺

The first snowflakes weren't here yet. It made everyone, who noticed it, a little bit worried. There was often a few snowflakes on Durin's day already, reminding of the freezing cold winters.
Bofur was sitting on the top of the mountain, by the open door. He was looking down, and felt happy, but also worried. Happy, because they all were alive and found a way inside the Mountain. Worried, because...he remembered the attack of Smaug, and had a feeling this will be similar.
He shook his head, to get rid of all those thoughts. They can do it. Bilbo can do it.
-
A few weeks later, Thorin has become officialy the King of Erebor. It wasn't a huge celebration, but, everyone knew it was a step forward. Especially because Bard became king too, so now they all could talk about rebuilding the town and kingdom, and business and help from Mirkwood.
Bilbo was, however, going on his way home. The hobbit was worried, so the dwarves didn't pressure him into staying.
Bilbo, Balin, Gandalf, Dori, Dwalin, Fili, Kili and Bofur took a walk around Erebor. It was a week before Bilbo planned to leave.
"You know, I love the air here. It feels fresh," said Bilbo. It was true. Or, perhaps, he just haven't found his pipe yet, which was one of the pranks Fili and Kili done.
"Aye. The air isn't the only thing my brother likes, isn't it true?" Fili nudged Kili, who blushed.
"C'mon, you can't tell which is male and which is female, elves don't have beards!"
Bilbo, who learned how important the beards are for dwarves, didn't say any comment. However, Dwalin was quicker.
"You actually can," he said, reminding the Prince of the moment during dinner in Rivendell.
"Wait, can you hear it?" Kili suddenly stopped.
"The sound of your embarrasment?" Kili shook his head.
"No. The...the..." everyone got quiet, and they overheard a child's voice.
"Picking this flower, it is as blue as the sky, this flower is as yellow as the sun..."
Bilbo's eyes widened.
"It's a...it's a girl..." he pointed over at meadow, where you were sitting, in torn, dirty tunic and trousers, picking flowers.
"Stay here," Gandalf said. Everyone watched him to go to you, and talking to you for a while. Meantime, Bilbo and Fili came closer.
You were afraid of them, so you quickly hidden behind Gandalf. He chuckled.
"Come on, Y/N. This is Master Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit from Shire."
"I have auntie from Shire!" You said. Bilbo's eyes widened. He sat down next to you.
"Oh, and what's her name? Maybe I know her," he said, trying to gain your trust.
"Um...I don't know. She has curly hair and big smile," you said, hoping he would know who do you mean.
"Watch out!" Kili's scream came from distance. There was a warg near, and you screamed. You froze, but, someone's knife was quicker. Gandalf found out it was Bofur, who threw it.
He quickly came to you, and carefully hug you. You hugged his leg, and cried from fear.
"You are safe, lassie." You looked at him with your huge e/c eyes, and quickly looked away. He carefully stroke your hair.
"Where are your parents, lassie?" He asked her.
"I don't know. It was still dark. Mummy left me and went back, but I got lost," you muttered, and your stomach agreeded. Meantime, Bilbo, Fili and Kili stood next to Bofur.
"Well...what if we went back and give her something to eat and let her sleep in proper bed?" Bilbo said quietly.
"We can't leave her alone anymore," Bofur nodded.
"I agree. It could take months before we find them. She has to have somewhere to stay, safe and warm," Kili said, and smiled at you.
"Do you think Uncle will agree?" Fili turned to Kili.
"He will have to," Bilbo said.
"Those are very brave words," Dwalin said in barely audible voice.
-
On the way back, you were holding Bofur's hand, but then he decided to let you have a piggy back ride. You even fell asleep on his back, snuggling to his coat.
When you arrived, he looked over his shoulder at you.
"Aye lass, time to go to bed," You woke up, and Bofur felt guity of it. But, you couldn't sleep on his back.
"What would you like to eat, lassie? You seem hungry. Then you can go back to sleep," That seemed to work.
Over the weeks, you were getting used to your new home. You didn't fully understand what happened to your family, but your found family made sure you were safe and happy. Bofur made toys for you to play with, and needless to say, you would play with them all the time.
It was around two weeks later, when you met a dwarf woman, who didn't seem unfamiliar. You didn't notice the exchange of looks her and Bofur had, when she noticed him and he noticed her.
"What's the matter?" Bilbo asked.
"You...you are...?" The dwarf woman said, and Bofur's eyes sparkled in realization.
When you came back to the castle, Bilbo, Fili and Kili took you aside, while Bofur and her talked. Fili and Kili tried to listen (obviously), and when Tauriel entered the room you usually had breakfast, lunch and dinner in, Kili gave her puppy eyes.
"Oh, c'mon love!"
"That's personal. Besides, I didn't hear much anyways, and I came to Y/N. I haven't seen you in days, little one." She smiled at you, and Kili pouted.
"What about me?" Tauriel rolled her eyes and kissed his nose.
"Better?"
"Slightly," he muttered, and you giggled.
"See, Y/N likes it!" Kili explained his previous pout to his girlfriend. Fili was chuckling, and Bilbo seemed to have fun too.
"Y/N," the dwarf woman came to you. You curiously looked at her.
"I suppose you know...Bofur, right?" You quickly nodded.
"Alright...well, um..." she was unsure, but you didn't notice. You looked around.
"Where is mummy?" Her eyes were sad.
"I'm not sure. But...Bofur," she smiled, and looked over at him.
"Is my cousin. Would you mind to stay with us?"
The room was quiet, until you gave Bofur and her a smile.
A few months later, Bofur was reading you a book before bed. You snuggled into the blaket, and closed your eyes. Bofur gently patted your head.
"Good night, little one."
"G'night, daddy," you muttered.
Bofur's face was now having a big, proud father-like smile on, while little tears in his eyes.
Fifteen years later
"You can do it, Y/N!" Kili cheered at you, as you were drinking your ale. You lost your count already.
"And that's it!" You said, as one of your friends fell under the table. You and your uncles - Fili and Kili - laughed.
"Y/N? Y/N!" Your friend came to you, relief on his face. You turned to him, and his cheeks flushed.
"Well, um, it's late, maybe you-"
"Did dad already find out?" You frowned, and he nodded.
"You two get up, we're going home!" You said, looking down - literally, you were taller than both of them - on your uncles.
"Y/N, I remember you being so tiny you didn't reach my waist!" Kili said, and you rolled your eyes.
"I remember the last time you two didn't come home early, and grandma caught us sneaking in," you said, and they shared a look of terror.
Your grandmother and Tauriel were nobody to mess with, and both of them knew that.
"Alright, we're coming-"
When you arrived, you quietly came to your father's room. He recently told you the story, but, you didn't got angry at him. You were happy for him to be there for you, instead.
"We're home, dad." You said, as you noticed him working on a toy he has been talking about recently.
"Hi, little one," he gave you a tired smile. You came close to him, and sat down next to him on a chair, placing the toy carefully down on the table.
"You are tired. Go get some sleep. I won," you smiled. Bofur took off his glasses, and the candle light moved, as he got up from the table.
"Okay, fine. Have a good night sleep," he said. You smiled, got up, and stood at the door.
"Good night to you too, dad. I...I wanted to thank you. For everything." He smiled.
"That's nothing, really."
"To me, it's everything. And don't argue with me, dad. You need that sleep too." You closed the door and walked away, not noticing Bofur's eyes with tiny tears.
Just like the first time you called him your dad.

A/N: This can be read as platonic or romantic. It's not proofread and I wrote it to deal with some stuff, I hope you'll enjoy it anyway.
Warnings: Smaug, childhood trauma and neglect, selective mutism, abandonment issues, I found almost nothing about Bifurs backstory so I just made smth up
"Bifur?", you sat up from where you had been sleeping on a patch of grass outside the mountain. He looked at you. Even after Bifur had regained his full ability to speak, both of you didn't use many words. You were fluent in khuzdul so there had never been a language barrier but both of you had a rather complicated relationship with the spoken word. With Bifur there was no need for words most of the time but this one question haunted you like a ghost of the past. "You're not going to abandon me, right?", you couldn't bring yourself to look at him. "Of course not", was his reply. He offered his hand and you took it. When the both of you were out in the marketplace or walking through the halls of the mountain it was rare to see you not holding hands or guiding each other in another way. You had a tendency to lose your way or get distracted and you tried to avoid that.
Your mind started to wander back to the reason you had asked Bifur a question you already knew the answer to. Back when Smaug had claimed the lonely mountain you had been young, even a bit younger than Bifur. In the hurry of leaving the mountain you had lost sight of your parents and ended up with Balin and Thorin. They made sure to reunite you with your parents later on but it had never been the same as it was. Sure, they made sure that there was lunch on the table for you and that you had a place to sleep, but you had questions that they could not answer and when you started to act like the traumatized child you were at the time they didn't know how to deal with it. So you ended up mostly dealing with it on your own just like Bifur who was left with his younger cousins. You loved your parents dearly but now that you were older and had grown up you realized that they had caused you a big problem. Sometimes a deep fear of being left alone to fend for yourself would surface. Bifur understood this better than anyone else.
You snapped back to reality. Bifur was holding you like he always would when you got like this. You grabbed his coat a little tighter. Even now there was no need for words. There have been times in both of your lives where you wouldn't say a single word all day because it was too much to handle. Bifur sometimes remembered how his cousins had tried to coax you into telling them what's wrong, but even Bofur understood at some point that you weren't able to. Bifur had never tried to get you to speak. He didn't want you to feel uncomfortable so he would always sit with you and hold you if you wanted. In return you did the same for him. A few years ago on a day where both of you had been feeling very out of it, it took Bombur half the day to find Bifur and you in a blanket fort in the darkest cave of the mountain. Both of you thought the absence of light was very comforting and there were some places under the mountain that could provide that.
By now everyone knew where to find you most of the time, but they also knew that there was no need to worry. With Bifur by your side everything would be okay.

Imagine being a Targaryen and befriending Smaug
(So, this might be long, but I hope you enjoy it. It has also come to my attention that it’s just easy to write reader gender neutral since I rarely have to specify the gender, but this is male reader)
Requested by @weird-addiction
Warnings: violence, mentions of dead and crushed eggs, mentions of cannibalism, Smaug is kind of a douche, overprotective dragon companion, some fluff, found family kinds of feels, angst, death and war.
----------------------------------------------------------
-After your banishment, you traveled far and wide, avoiding people and hunters who tried to take bounty over your and your dragon’s head. You couldn't let that happen, especially when carrying your dragon’s only egg.
-You could feel through your bond how your dragon, Skarlax, was getting tired from all the constant running and flying. It wouldn’t take long before she got fed up with it and decided to fight your pursuers. You knew it would only end badly, so you had to find a safe place soon.
-Your search led you to a witch, who told you about a place called the edge of the world, where rumors said traveling through the mysterious clouds of the sea would take you to another world. It sounded unbelievable and impossible, but knowing your situation and how desperate you were to find a haven, you took the risk.
-You fed Skarlax and flew into the clouds in the sea. It was a horrid journey. The storm that followed almost took your life, so either the gods decided to be merciful, or you got lucky to survive such a force of nature.
-You found your way to a place called Middle-Earth. It was such a beautiful place, and you could feel yourself wanting to discover all of it. Other Targaryens always thirsted for conquest, but you always preferred to travel and uncover than try to conquer.
-However, you knew you needed to find a home for Skarlax and her egg soon, so you traveled to look for a good home for yourself.
-You found your way to what seemed to be ruins of an old kingdom inside a mountain that stood alone from others. You marveled at the two great statues standing near the entrance, and you couldn't help but walk in – wanting to see more.
-The sight was breathtaking. You walked through the stone halls, taking in the designs and the beauty of the stone murals and the statues. The city was unlike anything you had ever seen before. It was marvelous, especially when it was underneath a mountain.
-You studied the old murals and pictures on the wall, trying to learn the story behind the city and its people. You were surprised when you discovered that dwarves used to live here. You noted the size of the old bones and armor you found, so these dwarves were much bigger and buffer than the dwarves in Westeros, and they were considered a different race, not ordinary people with a defect from birth.
-You were discovering so much, and it made you excited. Skarlax just followed you as you walked around the place.
-You found an old forge. The room was a mess but perfect for incubating Skarlax’s egg. It also had bigger rooms and old chambers nearby, so you and Skarlax didn’t have to sleep in the same room.
-You tried to tidy up the place and prepare a fire until you heard your beloved companion growl and hiss defensively. She was unnerved by something like the place was not safe.
-You had been with her long enough to know the nature of her behavior, so you knew she was not smelling another human or a wild animal. It was another dragon.
-You felt excited that there was another dragon and unnerved because wild dragons were dangerous when they were not fond of humans, so you quickly tried to leave the place rather than trying to find the dragon.
-You almost reached the entrance till you felt the hall shake, and the mysterious dragon showed himself, his scales gleaming red and his eyes burning with golden flames. You were left stunned as you marveled at his size. He was big. He was bigger than the biggest dragon you knew in Westeros, and there was no doubt his wings could cover a whole village in their shadows.
-He was a magnificent specimen, but you left your thoughts elsewhere as he did not look friendly when he looked down upon you.
-One thing you did not expect or think possible – was for him to speak.
-” Well… little rat. Why the rush?” His deep voice shook you to the core.
-You were shocked, unable to utter a word. There has never been a recorded dragon who could speak like a human. It was impossible, but then you remembered that you were in another world, so anything was possible now.
-Oh, how your relatives would have flipped their crowns and heads if they knew there were dragons that could speak.
-You collected yourself and kept eye contact with the dragon. You apologized and tried to tell him you did not mean to invade his home. You thought the kingdom was empty of life.
-He seemed amused by your answers and questions if you had not heard the stories about the dragon that dwelled beneath the lonely mountain, sleeping in the stolen treasures of Erebor.
-You made a quick note of that and explained you were new to these lands and Erebor was your first stop because you wanted to investigate. You had no idea he was there sleeping.
-You introduced yourself out of politeness, and he introduced himself as Smaug.
-You tried to think your words carefully since he seemed to toy with you like a cat with a mouse, except it’s a tiny man and a giant dragon.
-He approached you dangerously like a snake and then noticed the egg that rested against your chest in a pouch. When he saw the egg, he looked agitated and almost demanded to know if you had stolen the egg.
-You tried to tell him the egg belonged to your friend, but he didn’t seem to believe you and seemed ready to burn you alive.
-You were too far away to take cover, so you held your breath as his chest glowed with brilliant light, and he opened his mouth.
-Luckily, Skarlax came to your rescue just in time and attacked Smaug. She stopped him from raining fire upon you by scratching his head. Her smaller size allowed her to fly in the hall and maneuver around the enormous dragon while throwing and dodging the attacks.
-Smaug growled and quickly snatched her tail, throwing her away.
-Skarlax got thrown onto the floor, but she quickly got up, ready to fight. However, you stopped her, speaking to her in High Valyrian and preventing her from making poor decisions.
-You have always admired her determination to fight for you, but even you knew this was a fight she would not win, so your only hope was coercion.
-You calmed her down, then turned toward Smaug, explaining she was your travel companion and the egg you were holding was hers. You were carrying it for her as you traveled to find a safe home for yourself and the hatchling inside.
-You also explained you were from a place where dragons did not speak, so that’s why she was not speaking like him.
-Smaug calmed down and then asked for your story. Since you gained his interest, you happily told him your story and why you were flying around to find a new home for yourself since you got banished from your old one.
-Smaug listened to your story. He looked down upon Skarlax as she was protective of you, and she had a saddle on her back, so he did not have anything nice to say about it. However, he was willing to forgive you for trespassing.
-His race was already under threat of extinction. So he did not wish to harm the egg in your hand and its mother. It would mean he would contribute to the death of his race.
-He then said you could stay in Erebor since it was big, filled with gold, and you could incubate the egg. It would be safer than in the outside world since people feared dragons.
-You agreed to his reasoning since Erebor would make a good home for you and Skarlax’s hatchling.
-You promised you only wanted to care for your companion and her future offspring, so you had no interest in his gold or treasures.
-After that encounter, you finally managed to tie up the old forge and start incubating Skarlax’s egg. Skarlax was not happy with Smaug’s presence inside the mountain, so she was constantly watching the door, guarding you and her egg while having the pissiest face you have ever seen on a dragon.
-You shook your head since she looked like a brooding child, but you understood her protectiveness.
-She was mistrustful toward other dragons because when she had her first clutch of eggs, they were crushed and eaten by the dragon named Cannibal. It crushed your heart when you found her mourning and ready to fight the terrible wild dragon, but you stopped her because you knew she couldn’t have won.
-She didn’t give birth to more eggs for some time – until her mate died in a war. His rider brought him to a hopeless battle, and they both got shot from the sky. It crushed her even more, but she was able to give birth to one egg just when your house decided to banish you from the kingdom.
-You were the only one she trusted, so she allowed you to take it, and you both escaped the kingdom and Westeros.
-It would be awkward in the future when the tension between you and Smaug was this high, so you needed to do something to soften it up.
-After resting through the night, you decided to confront Smaug and talk to him.
-You were nervous when you walked through the stone halls since yesterday’s events were still fresh in your bones. It made you shiver how you almost got burned alive, but when you found the treasury, you were amazed. There were gold, gems, trinkets, and all kinds of treasures everywhere.
-You never thought such a treasury was possible. There was no way gathering all the gold and treasures into one place in Westeros could even fill half of the hall in front of you. You were pretty sure even the riches pigs would sell their soul to have such wealth.
-You concluded Smaug was one of those dragons that hoarded treasures, so you began to look for him and call out for him while stumbling on the hoard of gold.
-You knew Skarlax was watching from the shadows, carefully observing, and ready to act for your safety, so you tried to keep calm when Smaug finally heeded your call and rose from his golden hoard.
-You were still intimidated by his size, but you held your breath and told him you wanted to talk with him – anything to ease the tension and create a good relationship.
-Thanks to your experience dealing with silver-tongued people in court, you made Smaug curious about your homeland and its dragons, so you ended up making a decent conversation.
-He was not fond of the idea of his kin submitting to humans, so you had to give a brief explanation: dragons in your homeland were like your kin – not pets or slaves.
-He found the idea ridiculous but was curious to know more, especially the language you spoke with Skarlax when you calmed her down from attacking him.
-You told him about High Valyria and how it was like a dragon tongue since most dragons in your house don’t listen unless spoken in that language. Smaug kinda liked it and asked if you could teach him some words in your language.
-You were glad. It means you have created a good start, so you visited Smaug often and taught him some words in Valyria, and in return, he taught you something about Middle Earth and other races like elves and dwarves.
-Skarlax was still uncomfortable with his presence and preferred to avoid him. She spent most of the time with her egg after making sure you would be alright by yourself.
-Smaug asked for her story after observing how spiteful she was toward him, like she hated dragons, and you told him how her first clutch of eggs got destroyed by another dragon named Cannibal and how her mate perished in a war.
-Smaug was surprised to hear about Cannibal since it was frowned upon to crush and eat a female dragon’s eggs, so he showed some sympathy. He went out of his way to hunt some prey and offer it to her as a peace offering, trying to show he was not a threat to her or her egg.
-Skarlax was a proud dragon but accepted the offering since she could keep a more watchful eye on her egg.
-You were happy since the tension was slowly decreasing, and Skarlax was slowly softening up to Smaug when he continued hunting for her. You gave Smaug some hints about her favorite food, and it helped make better bonds for them.
-Helping him get Skarlax’s trust gave you a chance to befriend him, and he was comfortable enough with you to talk casually.
-He admitted he grew to enjoy your company just a little since you entertained him with riddles and rumors you heard whenever you left the mountain to gather food and water for yourself.
-You even went out of your way to bring him more treasures to add to his hoard, which helped you grow to a friendship level. It was hard work, but it was worth it.
-After living together for some time, you might have noticed Smaug showing signs of interest in being mates with Skarlax. He kept hunting food for her and sometimes helped with incubating her egg. You liked the idea of them being together, so you wanted to help him since you knew Skarlax better than anyone.
-She might have grown comfortable enough not to fight Smaug upon first chance, but she was still protective of you and her egg, so one way to gain her trust was to show he was trustworthy.
-Smaug didn’t deny he was interested in her and listened to your suggestions.
-It was difficult for him to gain her trust, but when he defended her egg from an intruder. Skarlax slowly cracked down her walls, and even she began to show interest in him.
-You then helped out by giving Smaug hints on how to romance her now the challenging part was over, and one way to do it was by speaking in High Valyria with her.
-You never imagined you would become a wingman for dragons and a third wheel.
-You watched their romance grow and gave them peace by guarding the egg. It was lovely, but you were amused when you watched your proud companion and Smaug become enamored with each other.
-You were first worried when you thought about when they became mates and got into ‘that’ business, but then you remembered Skarlax keeps growing every year, and she was already half of Smaug’s size, so there shouldn’t be any complications.
-The day finally arrived when Skarlax’s egg was finally hatching.
-In your old way, it would take a Targaryen to make an egg hatch, but it wasn’t impossible by naturally incubating. It would only take a long time, so you ran out of the forge when you heard those first cracks.
-You were yelling, and you dug both dragons out of the hoard to tell them the news and make them watch the hatching with you.
-You brought the egg for them to see, and you all watched as the baby dragon finally dug its way out of the shell.
-It was a beautiful little she dragon. She looked like Skarlax, but unlike her mother, the little dragon was purple and red, and her horns and spikes were black. Oddly, she also had gold dusted on her chest and head, which made her look beautiful and like Smaug, in a way.
-Skarlax was purring in delight, and her eyes were filled with love when you brought her hatchling to her. Even Smaug was watching rather lovingly.
-It was a happy moment when you welcomed your newest member to your odd little family.
-Now, the naming part was the hard part. You didn’t know what to call the new hatchling, so it took a long time for all of you to brainstorm some names.
-You gave some name suggestions in Valyria and names that described her color and that, but Smaug was quick to brush them off because he thought your name suggestions, like Amethyst and Hearthfyre, sounded stupid.
-He didn’t have better name suggestions, so you then suggested names in elvish since you have been learning and suggested Malleniel, which technically meant daughter of gold.
-Smaug admitted that the name had a nice ring to it, so you all agreed to call your little hatchling, Malleniel.
-It was a happy time for all of you with Malleniel. You often offered to babysit her, so you two grew close. Skarlax was full of joy to be a mother, and even Smaug sometimes played with her like she was his.
-You were one big happy family. Sometimes you all nap together on the hoard. You cuddle with Maleniel while Skarlax covers you, while Smaug covers all of you. It was uncomfortable to lay on the gold, but you did not mind.
-You thought it would be like this, and you would happily watch Malleniel grow till the old age hits you, but alas, like a curse, your happiness did not last long when they came – the dwarves and the hobbit.
-You were with Malleniel when you saw someone walking through the halls – toward the treasury where Smaug and Skarlax were resting. You were suspicious and prepared with a blade, so you followed the intruder.
-You were surprised to find that it was not a human, but something smaller with very hairy big feet. Your first thought was a dwarf, but you then remembered Smaug telling you they were bigger and had a beard, so you brushed it off and continued observing the creature.
-The little person was odd and frightened to be there. You tried to make sense of him till Malleniel grew impatient on your shoulder and growled, alerting him of your presence.
-He was startled to see you. He was definitely not expecting to encounter a human man, especially a man with a dragon sitting on his shoulders. Your appearance most likely frightened him even more as your silver hair glowed in the dark, and you glared at him with your purple eyes.
-You demanded to know what he was doing in your home, and he was nervous and confused when you referred to the place as your home.
-He tried to question you, but you pushed the questions back at him.
-He introduced himself as Bilbo Baggings. He called himself a hobbit which made you curious because you had never heard about them. You would have asked him more if he was not an intruder.
-You talked for some time as you tried to figure out his purpose in the mountain, and it was clear he was looking for something. You just didn’t know what because he was trying to avoid answering your questions.
-You introduced him to Malleniel and advised him to leave. Smaug was not very keen on visitors right now.
-You were too late to tell him to leave when you felt the room around you shake, and a familiar dragon appeared out of the corner. You knew it was too late for him, so you left Smaug to deal with your visitor.
-You hoped it would be a quick death since you wanted to know him more, but then you hear voices and Smaug being more active. It left you concerned, so you followed the voices and observed how the dwarves avoided and rebelled against Smaug.
-It looked like they were succeeding, so you quickly confronted Smaug before he could go after them.
- ”Smaug!” You called out, stopping in front of him.
He snarled after he got constantly hit with strange bombs before looking down on you and Malleniel.
“(Name). I want you to take Malleniel and return to Skarlax. If things get out of hand, I want you all to leave the mountain,” He said, making your eyes widen at the thought. “But what about you? I could help you!” You said.
“Ensuring Malleniel’s safety should be your first priority. These pests turn out to be more troublesome than I anticipated!” He said with hateful venom in his tone. “So I will not risk Skarlax’s and Malleniel’s life as long as they’re in the mountain,” He explained, then looked down on you softly. “So please, take them to safety for me,” He said, then continued chasing the intruders.
-You felt conflicted as he was part of your family, and you had a bad feeling, but you respected his wishes and went to find Skarlax.
-You stayed hidden with Skarlax. She wanted to join Smaug to chase off the intruders, but she listened to you and kept watch over you and Malleniel.
-You felt the mountain shake and heard Smaug’s roar. He was outside, so you carefully led Skarlax and Malleniel out of the mountain – avoiding the dwarves’ attention and following what was happening next.
-You watched as Smaug was burning the Laketown. He was most likely taking revenge on the intruders, but then you heard him roar in pain and fly in the sky before suddenly falling toward the lake below.
-Your heart stopped at that moment because you knew he was dead.
-Skarlax called out to him in pain, wanting to fly to him but staying beside you as she couldn’t leave you and Malleniel undefended.
-Your mourned and hugged Malleniel, who was confused. You hugged her and cursed the dwarves for killing your friend and taking away one of the most important members of your family.
-Skarlax kept you close, trying to comfort you. She grieved with you till dawn, and the battle for the mountain was beginning.
-You watched as elves and the humans gathered in the city, ready to attack the mountain since the new dwarven king refused to share parts of the treasure even though he promised it to them. You found some irony in that.
-They always said dragons were the greediest creatures on Middle Earth, yet here was a dwarf doing the same.
-One night, you found the hobbit sneaking out of the mountain, and in a fun twist of fate, he dumped you on his way to the city.
-You were not happy to see him because he was also responsible for Smaug’s death, but you did not care enough to harm him.
-Skarlax was near to eating him alive, but you convinced her to stay put, and you two talked for a while. You asked what he was doing, and he explained he intended to give the heart of the mountain to the elves and humans. His friend valued the rock above all else, so it should be able to convince him to open the gate and avoid conflict.
-You found his intentions honorable and brave. You would have done the same if it meant you could have saved Smaug’s life.
-Bilbo showed sympathy when he saw how much Smaug mattered to you and how Malleniel got robbed from a father figure. You brushed his apologies off since it was already too late.
-When he asked why you were still around, you told him you wanted to see the elves and humans break through the walls and see his friend get taken by his creed.
-He asked you if there was a cure for the dragon sickness, but you answered there was no such thing. His friend can only overcome it by himself or let it consume him.
-You allowed him to continue his task, and you watched as the whole thing unfolded in the morning.
-The stubborn dwarf still refused to open the gate, and you waited for the moment to see the battle begin, especially when more dwarves appeared and they started killing each other.
-It was interesting to watch for a moment, but then the earth shook, and you saw the earthworms opening tunnels for something. You then saw legions of orcs marching through, and now, it was throughout the war.
-You saw the dwarven king joining the battle, which meant he had overcome his sickness, and they all fought honorably and like it was the last day on earth.
-You decided to leave because you knew the battle was lost. The orcs outnumbered them massively, so you knew they would die either way.
-You were prepared to leave till Bilbo found you and begged for your help.
-You refused and asked why you should help the people who helped to kill your friend. You were not risking your life for people who would kill Skarlax and Malleniel at first sight.
-Bilbo explained that if you helped them, the people would not harm you or your dragons. If you helped them win the battle, they would even give you a safe haven.
-You highly doubted that since you considered Smaug as a friend.
-However, Bilbo then convinced you that if you helped them, people would not come after you or your dragons. They could send word all around the land to prove you’re a friend and not an enemy. You and your dragons would be safe.
-You thought about, and even if you did not want to help the killers of your friend, you had to think about Skarlax’s and Malleniel’s future and safety.
-You pushed your feelings to the side and gave Malleniel to Bilbo.
-Bilbo was shocked to hold a baby dragon, but when you threatened to kill him if she came under any harm – he sucked it up and made it clear he heard you loud and clear. He then watched as you mounted your dragon and took flight toward the battle.
-When you flew above the battlefield, you yelled out for Skarlax to fire.
-Fire rained down upon the orcs. They screamed as they burned alive, and the dwarves, elves, and humans were left shocked by the appearance of another dragon.
-You cut the rest of the orcs away, giving a burning barrier to the people and preventing the rest of the orcs from overpowering them. You then continued burning them all. You also took down the trolls that tossed boulders and stones.
-You gave no mercy to the orcs, giving a chance for the dwarves, elves, and humans to win the battle, and the war was soon over.
-Seeing no reason to fight anymore, you returned to Bilbo and saw Malleniel alright.
-Bilbo thanked you for helping and promised to let everyone know you were a friend.
-You almost found revolt in the idea but couldn’t do anything about it. You took Malleniel and prepared to leave for good.
-Bilbo wished you good luck and said if you ever found your way to the shire, he would always welcome you. You almost found some warmth in those words but brushed them away because you doubted you would ever meet again.
-You bid him farewell, too, and flew away from the lonely mountain.
-You looked back, watching your home get smaller and smaller. It left you with deep sadness, but you knew it was necessary.
-You managed to find a new home even though it wasn’t easy, then watched how Malleniel grew up into a healthy young dragon. You missed Smaug and felt sad that he couldn’t be there to see her grow. However, Skarlax then laid two new eggs, and you were happy that your friend’s memory won’t die.

Fairy!Reader Traveling with Company
black!fairy!reader x company (platonic)
alright so I have many headcanons for fairy and the company
contrary to belief it was Bilbo who had to beg her not to go on this adventure but hearing the loss of a home and the chance to regain it hit a never in her
I can imagine like as the company are leaving and she hears Bilbo coming she flies like a bullet into him
she has a pony but doesn’t ride it, she’s trying to strengthen her wings and chooses some moments to fly above
speaking of flying her dust has accidentally been sprinkled over one of the dwarves and they have floated once or twice which caused Thorin to command her to ride her pony or else he’d have her tied down to it
speaking of Thorin it takes time for his hard shell to be softened by the small creature, and it’s not cause she bothers him he’s encountered fairies during his days before Smaug, she reminds him of the mountain and those good times and it hurts himself to look at her
he can remember the small creatures not making it out and hearing them small screams and cries
however, there is a small moment where the two have a heart to heart and it’s when Azgog attacks I can just see her ignoring him and fighting the pale orc to try and help
and at first she nearly had the upper hand until her wings seized up and she could no longer fight
he refused to leave her side till she’d awakened and it was then that the two formed a bond
as for the rest of the company the elder dwarves teach her the history and friendship between the fairies and the dwarves speaking of the days the fairies would often take refuge or live in the mountain
the younger dwarves however beg to know if the stories and myths their family told them as children were true or not and she messes with them and tells them it’s tru that naughty dwarven children were indeed lured into the woods and stolen away by fairies
fairies and dwarves have much more in common than one may think, dwarves are more of a singing/musical folk so these two go hand in hand
there are some nights of singing and dancing
small angst moment: Bilbo sees how attached the company have gotten with fairy reader and he sees how much she adores the thrill of traveling and seeing the mountain and when they have a moment to themselves together he tells her if she wishes it she can stay in Erebor for however long she wishes to
she however scolds him and tells reminds him they made a deal plus dwarves were not better cooks than hobbits, who would make her, her delicious pastries?
another angst moment: king thranduil after encountering the dwarves and locking them up demands to see fairy reader and tells her if she values her life she’d stay in Mirkwood for her own safety, I imagine he even extends the offer towards Bilbo as well and for a moment she wants to agree, but fairies do not go against their promise and she refuses
fairy reader is a stealthy little fighter when she has to, but emphasis on the stealth part cause when it comes for bilbo to go in and speak to smaug and there’s the light argument beforehand she sneaks in and the whole company nearly runs in after her but they have to stop because that’ll only result in unnecessary deaths
smaug has encountered fairies, he hasn’t eaten them on the account of them being too puny, and fast and he even reminisces on how they often mistakened fairies as treasure but I can imagine this tiny little thing carefully and quietly dancing about the dragon as quietly and carefully as she can and somehow gets the arkenstone
when it comes for her and bilbo to get their shares of treasure her request is quite a silly but simple one in thorins eyes: she demands fabrics to take back to the shire as a way to remember them
Ooooooo even bigger angst moment, when thorin dies he passes on his cloak to her and she still holds onto it tailoring it and taking care of it
the dwarves offer to allow her to stay and help build back the kingdom and politely declines and says she’s had her fair of adventures to last her
she keeps in contact with them over the years, sends countless of letters travels to meet with the company and here their stories and whatnot
if you have any requests, imagines, etc you’d like to see for fairy reader feel free to leave some suggestions or messages <3

I will NOT do nsfw. This is a christian minecraft sever
You CAN request multiple character/poly and platonic stuff
If your not specific, I will choose between headcanons or a fic/drabble
If you request angst, I will give it a fluffy ending unless requested otherwise
Please be specific in your request ex: reader gender (fem, male, gender neutral)
Edit: I will now take character x character, character + character platonic stuff, aus (like, medevil bnha, or a story about friendship or enemies to friends or adoption, anything really), and stuff like that
Current hyperfixation (aka, what I will probably write better for/ do more): dream smp
Will probably put the scenario in a non specific arc

My guardian spirit || Thranduil x fem!reader (Platonic)
𝕺𝖍, 𝖆 𝖇𝖔𝖔𝖐 𝖋𝖊𝖑𝖑 𝖔𝖋𝖋 𝖆 𝖘𝖍𝖊𝖑𝖋, 𝖜𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝖜𝖎𝖑𝖑 𝖎𝖙 𝖇𝖊?
Summary: Where war seems to have stripped all virtues from men and living beings of Middle-earth, the cold King Thranduil will save a child's life, redeeming her greedy and unfriendly mind. Requested? No Genre: Fluff;; a bit angst ;; platonic Words: 1294
It was chaos Dale, you believed that the ordeal and the pain that stormed your heart and that of all the few survivors of Laketown had ended in front of the high and imposing flames that made your hometown sink in the cold limbs of the dark water .. .your naivety as a teenager should have changed its mind. The ruins that had housed you that cold night, reminding you of how lonely and lost you were and now without the comfortable arms of your parents, the next morning had been invaded by a horde of merciless orcs. People screamed, ran away helpless. Your eyes shocked and now deprived of their innocence saw those ugly creatures tear to pieces men, women, children, elves ... no one was safer. Death was around you, in a vice that was closing more and more, strangling you and quickly making you one of the next victims. You tried to make yourself small in the midst of that theater of horrors, trying in every possible way to escape far away and find refuge in some small hiding place. Your heart feared that you would be stepped on by someone at this rate. You managed to sneak away from what may have been the main square and busiest area in that war, until you descended a small staircase that seemed to take you out of Dale. But a sinister growl made your legs shake and petrified you as if you were under the spell of an evil witch. A broad shadow covered your frail and frail figure, advancing further towards you, while your eyes wide with terror watched an ogre taller and more burly than the others, who had just torn apart a poor elven soldier, until his predatory attention fell on you ... Did he want to eat you? How did your mom tell in bedtime stories about ogres eating bad children? It didn't matter at that point, your prey instincts screamed at you to turn your heels and run, fast as the wind, like an elven arrow, fast as the flames of Smaug that had burned your parents alive. The ground beneath your tiny feet trembled with every large step of that ogre, who in the meantime had decided to charge towards you, like a mad bull, while your vision was clouding more and more because of your tears that now without shame furrowed your red and cold cheeks. You didn't want to die, not like this, you were so young, you were little more than a young teenager, you wished you had more time to grow a little more, grow happy, grow in peace, ripen like a healthy fruit and not troubled by mourning and war, from blood and desolation. Your legs grew weaker and weaker, like jelly, causing you to stumble badly on the stony ground of the ruins of Dale, thus decreeing your imminent demise. The ogre grinded its crooked and sharp jaws, letting out an animalistic and perverse laugh, as you overwhelmed by sobs you became smaller and smaller, dragging you to the nearest wall, as your knees had peeled during the fall. The monstrous body of that being became more giant, when the latter raised his sword with his hand, ready to give you the coup de grace, and without even thinking about it, terrified screams came out of your lips, while you closed almost squinting your eyes, and your little hands wrapped around your legs, as if you were a frightened hedgehog. It was over, your miserable existence ended there, without even someone mourning your departure. Yet ... that sharp, heavy blade never reached your frail body. You opened one eye terrified, afraid of what you might see in front of you.
That filthy creature fell to the ground dying a few feet away from you, and the ground seemed to tremble beneath you. You looked up fearfully and in front of you you found a tall and luminous figure, his body seemed to reflect the light of that sad sick sun, like a precious gem, his long and white hair moved slightly at the tips with some draft of wind . Its silhouette against the light kept you from seeing anything more, and your tear-dimmed vision wasn't really helping you. The mysterious man seemed to tilt his head, only now noticing your tiny presence and as soon as he glimpsed your terrified expression, he decided to slowly bow towards you so that he could study you better and only in that moment could you see the beauty of his face in all its glory. Your mom told you about elves, tall, beautiful like nothing in the world, strong and endowed with strong power and charisma. The bedtime stories at that moment didn't seem so loaded with adjectives and praise for these creatures, none of those words were too loaded.
"Shouldn't you be here baby, where are your parents?" the elf asked with a somewhat detached tone, you were afraid to answer and so you curled up more on yourself, then I seem to understand that he had to soften his ways a little to gain your trust "That monster hurt you? " he asked then, slowly bringing a gloved hand in shining armor close to your dirty, scruffy little body.
"No sir ...." you answered sniffling, feeling only then the pungent pain of the cold on the bare flesh of your peeled knees "But I fell ... and I can't get up" you tried not to be overwhelmed by tears, while his face seemed so empty of expression and empathy ... surely the elves weren't such emotional types. He then rested his eyes on your knees and moved his thick, dark eyebrows in a displeased expression. "Where are your parents, little human" "... The dragon Smaug burned them" you whispered still feeling a deep pang in your heart. The elf then seemed to take a few moments to observe you or perhaps to decide what to do, and for a moment you thought that he too would abandon you. But then he wrapped his arm around you, taking you in his arms without too much effort (maybe because of your underweight or maybe it was true that the elves didn't even sin in strength) "This is no place for you ... humans should take better care of their children" the man murmured almost to himself, under your confused and weak gaze. "Where are you taking me?" you asked as the elf began to quicken his pace as the sword he held in the hand that was not holding you was always ready to attack. "In a place where no one will hurt you" he replied quickly, and then stabbed a not too tall orc that he had loaded towards you. The elf ran up to a pile of rubble, where there was a small trap door on the ground, perhaps it was Dale's old sewers. He parried it and with extreme delicacy slipped you inside. "Stay here little girl, he only opened this hatch when you hear nothing but silence. Am I clear?" he asked sternly while you just nodded obediently, the elf looked at you worried for another moment but then put aside his now buried paternal instinct and decided to get up and turn to go back to fight. "Wait, what's your name? You saved me mister elf but I don't know your name" you said with the last strength left, he turned around almost astonished that you didn't have the slightest idea who he was and with a slight sigh he said: "Thranduil, little girl. Now keep your promise" and with that he turned quickly running towards that battle that probably would never have seen the light "I'll be back to take you back little human, it's a promise"

book writing session [ non-binary! platonic!reader x merry + pippin ]
summary: the reader, merry and pippin help find history information to help write merry’s book. but, they don’t get as much done as they had hoped.
warnings: none.
author’s note: i’ve never written a non-binary reader before, so i hope this turns out ok!
requested by: @somajesticdonki
———
they had never thought that they’d be going on some grand adventure. as hobbits, they liked the comforts of home and having all of their meals when they needed them. merry and pippin were sticklers for their meals; they didn’t know how bilbo managed when he went to erebor.
merry, after their adventure, worked on writing a book. he had recruited two of his closest friends — y/n and pippin — to aid him in his research. y/n knew a lot of what happened in erebor; they liked to read, and read a lot.
“alright, so, what historical information do you have about elves?” merry asked as he looked over at y/n and pippin. the male looked over at y/n, who liked like they were thinking.
“well, mirkwood wasn’t always mirkwood. it was originally greenwood, but that was before sauron and the huge, ugly spiders came and sucked the life out of it.” they started off, shivering at the thought of the hideous creatures.
“and how am i going to write that, y/n?” he asked them with a quirked brow.
“just as how i said it, but maybe don’t be so informal about the spiders. say ‘ugly beasts’ or something i don’t know.” they scoffed, shrugging their shoulders. merry laughed and took what they said and wrote it in the best way he could, but put in parentheses, ‘courtesy of y/n.’
“ok, what about the march on erebor?” he asked. pippin scoffed at him before laughing.
“seriously? you don’t know about the long, treacherous journey bilbo went on?” pippin giggled, causing y/n to smack him on the arm.
“well, not the details.” merry admitted softly.
“erebor was once a great kingdom, one of the greatest dwarvish ones at that. then a dragon came and destroyed the city of dale and took occupancy in the kingdom, that was until bilbo joined thorin oakenshield and his company to reclaim it.” y/n, once again, spouted some historical information to merry. pippin looked at y/n, his eyes wide.
“how do you know all of this stuff?” he asked them.
“well, if you read, you would know just as much as me, maybe more.” they smirked and shoved pippin lightly. he crossed his arms over his chest, almost as if he was pouting.
“what was the dragon’s name?” merry asked as he looked up from the parchment.
“smaug the terrible. he was a fire drake from the north.” y/n informed him, a prideful smile on their face. merry wrote that down, along with some other things before looking back up.
“so i’ve got some stuff on the elves, like the rings that were given to them, and some on the dwarvish kingdoms. do i have to write about what we did and the one ring?” merry groaned, causing y/n and pippin the laugh.
“well, you are writing a history section of your book, aren’t you?” pippin chirpped, making merry scowl at him.
“if you want to add something about men, about the nine rings given to them, you could. the end of that part could be ‘but in order for the rings to work, they needed the one ring.’ and then you could write about your journey.” y/n piped up, a smile blooming onto their features. merry nodded his head and wrote quickly, ending his history section.
“great, you guys will be around for editing, right?” he asked them. pippin facepalmed, but y/n nodded eagerly.
“of course! as long as gandalf doesn’t have other plans.” they smiled. the three of them ended up hanging out the rest of the day, talking and laughing about old adventures and maybe, just maybe, some upcoming new ones.
———
i didn’t like this as much as i thought i would, but here it is! i hope it turned out alright :). i don’t know much about merry’s book; if it’s canon and was in the lotr books i haven’t gotten that far. i have only gotten through the first book (i think). but, regardless, i hope it was ok! i’m really worried i messed it up 😖, but please enjoy!
