30. Cuff It by uv catastrophe (fray-adjacent)

Visuals: Reunion: The Sound of the Providence

There are two words that best sum up this vid: fun and flirty. The source material seems concerned with a grand adventure of some kind, but this vid is more focused on the journey and small bits in between the action set-pieces.

Each member of the trio gets loving focus for a verse. Lots of attention is given to hitting all the sexual innuendos of the song, with my fave moment being the intense close ups of a hand tracing the outlines of a wall for a more innocent type of opening. The editing is similarly loose and relaxed while keeping the pacing engaging and energized. This is one of my favorite types of tribute because it is so easy just to see what individual moments and expressions the editor themselves loves. By the end, I was just as charmed with this polycule as I expect the fans are.

29. Pink Friday by FallChild42

I participated in an MMV exchange this summer, and there were so many cool and creative vids made for it, so beware this is just the first off the list. I know FallChild42/Dr. Dinosaur for his comedy vids and only heard a few stray comments about what he had planned for his giftee, so I didn’t know what to expect. But it certainly wasn’t for him to go all out for a motions graphics lyric video.

Utena and Yakuza are two series I love, but I never thought to cross them like this until he pulled it off. Suddenly I was like, “yes Utena deserves all the fun friday night parties, yes please.” The editing is both professional and slick, yet expressive and charming (especially with her little dance). A lot of the fun from exchanges is watching friends go the extra mile for each other. With such impressive tech work and clear joy and affection for his frequent collaborator/friend Ileia, it is difficult to walk away form this vid without a smile.

28. Bonnie & Clara by Camichan19

I came up in amv fandom from the side focused on making their paper dolls kiss (regardless if they interacted in canon or not), so I a sucker for just a good romance amv that knows what it is doing. And what do you know, Camichan19 is an expert in exactly that.

Pacing is one of those rarely spoken about, pretty vague elements of editing. You can use a metronome file or the waveform but when it comes down to choosing when and where to cut, especially on a scene by scene level, there’s only so much guidance anyone can give. Yet Camichan19 always seems like she knows exact the perfect place to make the cleanest cuts. Her smart and subtle scene selection in this vid specifically shines in how she is able to use Princess Jellyfish’s comedic moments for actually romantic development. This vid doesn’t make me laugh out loud, but it does make me smile in how it show that even these goofy slapstick moments do build something real and important between our two leads.

27. Transcend-Dandy Cha Cha Cha by Aqua Sky Productions

Tom Cardy has been supplying a good portion of the amv community’s comedy audio for the past few years now. Honestly, you could make a panel purely of Tom Cardy amvs, and a part of me is worried the bubble is gonna burst before I can get my own ideas out. When his new album dropped with its own animated music video for this song, a part of me imagined it was some sort of challenge on his part to see how a inter-dimension dance party could get reinterpreted as anything else. But Aqua Sky Productions rose up to that challenge and knocked it out of the park. Of all the lyric sync I expected in this vid, I was not expecting the “french dandy” line to get something.

But most of all, I admire she was able to capture the over-the-top party attitude without simply recreating the original mv. In contrast to its existential horror, Aqua has most of the characters role with the punches as long as they have a place to rave. It’s more tongue-in-cheek in comparison to most dance vids, but the more lowkey humor makes it a fun party anyone feels like they could join.

26. MEDUSA by JAKEH (CW: Sexual Assault)

I say this not to disparage any of the many dedicated coordinators we have in our community, but I feel like we’re still in the figuring out stage of grappling with amvs focused on more heavy and sensitive topics. Considering the public nature of much of the con circuit it is understandable to limit showings to all ages material, and I understand staff that does not feel equipped or does not want to engage with such topics for personal reasons. Still even in NFSW spaces, sexual assault tends to be the one line drawn (probably because going from horny hentai shenanigans to that and back is a hell of a tone whiplash). I like to emphasize that the con circuit is not the end all be all of amvs, and several people involved in the space (including myself) have taken the time to tackle the subject. However, it feels like many vids that want to seriously grapple with it are forced to live in the dark.

All this to say, if you care about grounded depictions of sexual violence, then MEDUSA is one of the best amvs tackling the subject around. Where it shines is not just communicating the literal events, but representing the feelings of our protagonist. After the drop we get gorgeous composition and composition filled with rage, grief, and profound bodily alienation. I don’t believe the most sensitive depictions are the ones that are the least explicit like some folks, but there is a lot more power and creative control for JAKEH by going this abstract route in a visual medium like amvs.

The ending itself also really gets at the reality of the subject for most victims. While our protagonist does get relief and release in the comfort and support of their loved one, there is also the harsh reality of having to live with the knowledge their assailant is likely simply living their life without any comparable consequences. It’s a harsh truth too many survivors have to face, but in the end, it is this vid’s unflinching stare head on at the subject that gives its dignity and weight.

25. Welcome to the Glam Dungeon🔥👄 by Abyssbreaking Studios

Who’s hungry for a bite? This amv is not my first encounter with the glam kitchen, but I was nervous about the audio would translate for a vid, as most of the humor comes from the delivery of a dramatic Mexican diva.

The solution, make the delivery of the audio through the text part of the joke. While Kia doesn’t skimp out on adding jokes in through Marcille’s funniest moments, her subtitles are the star of the show. There legible and easy to read while having plenty of cute and charming flourishes (my fave is the custom Falin emoji). Overall it recreates the fun of many viral cooking videos, basking in the vibes and energy as the real work goes on in the background, in a way I didn’t imagine possible in the form of an amv. Kia’s enthusiasm and energy overall cooks up a tasty treat for us viewers.

24. a heart’s a heavy burden by Biotic

Rin is one of my faves of Fruits Basket and I’ve adored this particular song for years. The only way a vid with this combo could be more up my alley is if a creative editor like the BioticAMVS was the one to edit with it. Really no matter what source she works with, Biotic always adds her own unique compositions and visual flair to create amvs with very particular singular visions.

And as a fan of the sources, I really love the extra meaning created here. It is telling that the positive memories are layered in a mosaic-like haze, once good ones are shattered, broken, and ruined while the only thing Rin sees clearly is her own pain. Casting Tohru as “Medusa,” the figure that turns her to stone, is such an interesting choice that demonstrates just how much what it is that paralyzes her is something internal as much as her external circumstances. It is a nice treat for fans, but wrapped up in tight sync that can be enjoyed by anyone.

23. Curtain Call - by BanjoKazooie64Fan (James Blond)

Perfect Blue is one of those intensely iconic pieces of art the imagery takes a life of its own. But rather than focus on stalkers and doppelgangers, James took the time to focus in on Perfect Blue lady’s quiet loneliness.

It is a unique and creative take on the source, as most Perfect Blue amvs aren’t all that character focused, (and even after watching the movie less than 3 years ago, she is still “Perfect Blue lady” in my head) but it is one that works wonders. By cutting out most of the thriller elements, it really emphasizes how even before the bodies started piling up, this was a young vulnerable woman getting eaten up by the industry with seemingly no support system at all. The scene of her fantasizing about talking with friends over near silence at 0:56 is so powerful in its dissonance, emphasizing how it really is a fantasy since it “breaks” most amv rules. I also like the cut of her staring blankly in the middle of directing the night club scene at 1:56. There is this running theme of almost watching life happen to other people around her, pulling so much depth and emotion I am not used to feeling about a character at all.

22. Retro Never Ends by Roseclipse AMV (Ophelia)

Last year, a studio by the name AMV Clamp (since then renamed Roseclipse AMV) came on to the scene with killer taste in anime and a strong editing voice/style. They were my rookies of the year for 2023, with Ophelia being a particular prevalent member. I loved her mmv work last year, so when she participated in the summer mmv exchange I mentioned earlier, I was excited to see what she would pull together.

With its bright color palette and paper edge borders, Retro Never Ends oozes style. For a medium where ever inch of movement is costing you loads of time and effort, the vid is so energetic, lively, and slick. There are so many great standout motions, such as the flying animation at 0:31 and the Botan mask at 0:47, but a more subtle element I admire is how Ophelia is not afraid to play with the aspect ratio. At moments like 0:16 and 0:42, you can clear see the edges of the original manga panels. But the brisk pace and smart scene composition turns the negative space from a distraction and into another nice visual flourish. Frankly when it comes to amount of polished tech work per a frame, this vid might get you some of the best bang for your buck on this list.

21. First Measure by Xophilarus

I don’t know when “Shake It Off” became the default Taylor Swift meme song, but I’ll never get tired of “nothing in my brain,” as a punchline. Xophilarus’ commitment to the bit here is to be admired. They are dedicated to syncing every off note, using ever zoom, speed ramp, or flourish to accentuate some truly awful musical moments.

And while for some folks, two and a half minutes of that might be more grating than entertaining, what really ties it together for me is the underlining story-line of these kids trying to put on a half decent performance. I’m not used to getting emotionally invested in comedy amvs, but it is funnier and more compelling to highlight these smiling cheerful faces thinking they absolutely nailed it while the crowd looks on in horror. While their eventual triumph is still tongue in cheek, I genuinely felt proud of them.

AU's on the blog and short explanations (Part 1?)

Finding series (Finding Nemo/Dory).

Lucifer is a single father, quite overprotective of his young daughter, Charlie, after his wife died protecting them. After losing his anger, that lead to Charlie being taken away, Lucifer teams up with Adam, a man suffering from short-term memory loss and his own history of being taken away from his family, he manages to save Charlie and returns home.

Until Adam starts remembering his own family and now it's a mission to go undercover into a cult to find his mother and sister.

Current timeline : About a week after Adam reunited with his family.

Run AU

Adam was born sick... or, at least, it's how his mother, Sera, says he was. But one day, with help of his new neighbor, he starts questioning everything, he thought he knew of himself and his mother.

Current timeline : 5 months after Adam learned the truth. Currently in collage.

Lucifer's playhouse

Lucifer collects first humans as prizes, keeping them in his basement, forcing them into a delusional safety of game of "House". Eve already gave up hope of escaping, Lilith stays back so Lucifer wouldn't touch Charlie... Adam is new in this, but he's doing everything to get out and help the girls.

Current timeline : First week after they're rescued from Hell. At the moment, them (and Charlie) are staying with Sera and other high angels to keep them safe from Lucifer.

Story of evil (Evillious Chronicles AU. 1)

Adam is an evil king, unknown to anyone possessed by a demon.

Lilith is his maid and right hand woman (and secret for everyone, even Adam himself, also his twin sister, he was separated from in childhood).

Carmila is leader of kingdom's resistance force and Lilith's adoptive sister.

Michael is king of contry of across the sea and Adam's fiancée.

Eve and Lucifer are pair of best friends, working for merchant as servants.

Everything starts falling apart when Michael meets Eve...

Current timeline : A bit before the Red War.

Project MA (Evillious chronicles AU. 2)

A prophecy is set for the land... as of the country is doomed to end soon. The only way to escape this fate is to reincarnate the Gods, that promised to destroy the land.

Lucifer is put in charge of the reincarnation project... meanwhile, in nearby village lives Adam, a nice warlock man with incredible power. Sometime before that, the two meet and fall in love with one another, Lucifer suggests Adam to sign up as a candidate for the project and Adam agrees... and gets chosen the one to be one with Lucifer to carry the project through. After some preparations, Adam wakes up, now carrying two babies, that will be soon known as Twins of God, rather than Dragon Gods.

Current timeline : Mid the first project, about 3rd month of pregnancy.

Helen's child is an only child (Evillious chronicles AU. 3)

Story of same family in two different dimensions. In both, they had one child in their lives...

In one, it's Adam, a sweet and polite boy, who loves wearing dresses, dolls and other feminine things (his mother even suspects she might have a trans daughter, but never asked).

And in another, it's Lilith, a smart, if a bit cold, girl, that managed to go to college at only 6 years of age. At this point, she wishes to learn of evil in people and why it's there.

The story of two worlds and their eventual meeting.

Current timeline : Some time after Adam fleed his world to Lilith's.

Seraphim Twins

Pretty easy. Adam and Lilith are Sera's biological children, but due how much Sera got attached to them, all three had the memories of their relation erased and story of "dust of the Earth" was created as a cover up.

Now, Adam and Lilith learn about the fact they have a mother... and they want to find her.

Current timeline : During Lilith's 7 years in Heaven.

Story of Heaven and Hell (Once upon a time AU)

Adam and Lilith are twins, who think they were abandoned soon after their birth. But on night of their 25th birthday, a little girl appears on their doorstep. She introduces herself as Charlie and claims to be Lilith's daughter. But what's more crazy, Charlie claims that they're from a different world, destined to break a powerful curse.

But little by little, they learn that there's more to little Purgatory, Oregon, than meets the eye.

Current timeline : 5th month after Adam and Lilith's arrival.

Cocoon/Incubator AU

Here's a full-on explanation of AU, plus picture of the children.

But in short, Adam falls after Lilith and Eve die in extermination. Him and Lucifer fall in love, get married, after awhile, they find a spell to get children between two of them and with their late wives... that ends up with them having 13 children.

Current timeline : Somewhere mid-season one.

Two Undertale AU's

These two are random and not fully worked out, but I just randomly imagined Guitarapple as Soriel and Charisk... so this exists now. For first one - Lucifer is Toriel, Adam is Sans, for second Lucifer is Chara, Adam is Frisk.

Current timeline : Post-Pacifist (for Charisk one, Lucifer is brought back to life)

Ib AU

Adam visits a gallery with his mother and sister... but after awhile, he finds himself in another world, where everything from the gallery comes to life and... now is after him. So now, with new friends (jumpy, but well-meaning Lucifer, mysterious Lilith and upbeat Eve) they must find the way out of this terrifying, yet beautiful place.

Current timeline : Promise of return (Good/True ending)

Mad Father AU

Adam lives alone with his mother, Sera, in isolation. His mother is a scientist, who constantly locks herself in basement with her assistant, Lilith.

But on day, his sister Emily passed, he wakes up to unusual noise in basement... before he learns that a curse is set upon their house, that is now overrun by undead... his mother's test subjects... all come to life to get their revenge on her.

So now, Adam is determined to descend down into depths of his house, just for take of saving his mother.

Current timeline : Night of the curse

Fairy AU (Tinkerbell and great fairy rescue crossover)

On vacation on mainland with his siblings, young fairy prince Lucifer meets a pair of human children, Adam and Lilith. Not heeding his siblings' warnings, he ends up befriending two kids.

Current timeline : Few days after first meeting.

Psychopath Mother Sera and Little Adam (this still needs a better name)

After his creation, Lucifer was put in Sera's care. For awhile, it was great, they'd be just what people would call a typical mother and son duo... until Lucifer started mature, but Sera's treatment of him never changed. Eventually, after Lucifer fell, Sera grew devastated. She had her responsibilities for Heaven, sure, it was taking her time to get her mind off the loss... but it was still present. And it was driving her insane.

So when Adam finally arrived into Heaven... the High Seraphim instantly launched onto him, making him her new child... a replacement for Lucifer, much to Adam's dismay. But he could do nothing about it. His only chance to get away from Sera... is to follow Lucifer's footsteps... To fall.

Current timeline : A month after Adam fell into Hell (post-season 1)

Reincarnation/Rebirth AU

After his death at Nifty's hands... Adam is reborn in different world... where everyone, he knew, loved and hated, are with him. But as humans and at the same time.

The only downside... he still has all his memories of his past life.

Current timeline : Adam is 3 years old.

Hazbin Swap/Reverse Hotel

My version of Hazbin Swap! :D

Adam, the first man, opens a hotel in Hell to rehabilitate sinners to let them into Heaven. With help of Lute, his right hand girl/adopted daughter, he is determined to show everyone that redemption is possible.

Cendrillon AU

Adam is invited to a ball with his family. But on the way there... he meets a person, who puts a curse on him, turning him into a woman... the only way to break it, is to kill the prince, who throws the ball. He only has time until three days to do it. If he fails to do it until midnight on third day... the curse will never be broken.

But once Adam meets the prince, he couldn't bring himself to do so, as the two fall in love with one another.

Current timeline : First night of the curse

Siren AU

A long time ago, Zastiel had three daughters, Sera, Carmila and Rosie. Three powerful sirens, who protected their kind. Each of three sisters was a mother on her own. Sera had three children, son, Adam, and two daughters, Lute and Emily, Carmila had twin girls, Odette and Clara, and Rosie adopted a little boy, Alastor.

For so long, the family was happy, caring for their people and raising their own children... until one day, the three sisters vanished. No matter how long and much they searched, no trace of them was found. The six children were now left in care of their grandfather. Until years later... they get a word that their mothers weren't dead, but were merely transferred into another world.

And now, the six children, now young adults, travel across dimensions to find their mothers.

Current timeline : First week after arrival

Sora headcannons:

He's trans! Some kinda demiboy, but in the way toys are boys. He was allowed to present as male in academia due to both charming his way through bureaucracy and because, frankly, higher ups did not care.

He struggles with psychosis. If you start to push him about Academia, he will say increasingly deranged things... it starts to get strange when he talks about fate and somesuch, but it can get a whole lot worse.

That all has gotten much Worse after the war. He doesn't see himself as human, or even particularly alive to begin with. He's a big doll toy, see?

At worst he may claim to be made out of injustices, a crowlike traitor to both his fate and friends. Even on good days it is hard for him to speak too harshly about Academia.

Without the pressure to put on a mask and charm his way into information, he now acts a lot more subdued. It's a little sad, but it seems his truest self isn't quite as bubbly as he first appeared... but even so, he is still funny, loyal and really smart.

Post canon, he has been adopted by Yoko. On one hand, he doesn't ask for much. Wakes up early, does chores without complaint... he also takes his new school in standard very seriously. Maybe too seriously...

On the other hand, he's not the most mentally stable person and requires plenty patience.

Oh, right. Sora is actually an orphaned kid. Parents abandoned him due to not being able to afford a good life for him. As such, he was part of a batch of kids sent much early to Academia- a sort of pipeline between abandoned youth and what should be a good education. Sora has no memories prior to being in Academia.

He has a lot of scars from the physical parts of training. He's smart, fast and plenty strong, but the learning curve was steep and missteps could get real dangerous. There was plenty of physical punishment to be had, dished out by disscipinary staff- marks of that are all over his back.

He's good with programming and anything related to information control and somesuch. Being the youngest member of Obelisk Force, his whole job at first was dealing with that kind of thing. When he switches to studying in Standard, he's great with maths but not great at history- which, to be fair, was totally expected since he has t learn about a whole new dimension's history.

Characters for my Classrooms AU fic

In order of how they originally appeared in the game (kind of):

Dolly Young: 7 years old. A naïve and carefree little girl who tags along with her cousin since he has to babysit her. Becomes the "Cursed" Doll.

Ethan McCrae: 12 years old. Dolly's older cousin. Would rather keep to himself initially. Becomes the Cloaked Phantom.

Shawn Campbell: 11 years old. The school's dedicated hall monitor at the time of the story. Gets irritated when others don't follow the school rules. Becomes Screecho the Clown, much to his chagrin.

Gale and Manny Bondar: Both 12 years old. Twin siblings with different personalities. Their father divorced their mother, so Gale now helps her out. Meanwhile, Manny is more of a brooding slacker. They become the Gangler and the Mangler, respectively.

Sammy Morris: 10 year old African-American. The class clown, he and Shawn don't often get along. Becomes "Smiley", only able to be fully visible in shadows.

Wynn Sullivan: 11 years old. An autistic girl living with her father, stepmother and little half-brother since the passing of her biological mother. Finds beauty in the strangest things. Becomes the Whispering Wyrm, using her stomach to store things found by the group.

Alix Umberleigh: 9 years old. The protagonist of the story, who hears about what the others are doing from Sammy, and decides to join them. Becomes the Dolphin Kid, and eventually the leader of the group.

Colleen Mooney: 8 years old. One of 4 children who disappeared back in 1996. Spunky and smart-mouthed. Becomes the Scentipede, gaining a stronger sense of smell.

Hayden Mooney: 11 years old. Colleen's older brother. Disappeared into Dimension Arc with his sister in 1996. Is often described as a nerd. Also a worrywart when it comes to his sister. Becomes the Tenant.

Mimi: The Mooney's pet Pomeranian. Frisky and energetic as any dog. Becomes the "Mimic", able to elongate her limbs at will and even speak the human language.

I might need to redesign the monsters to match their human selves in the AU. Also, if the game developers create new monsters, I'll be sure to add them as characters in this fic; I'll wait until the game is fully finished to actually write this fic.

Karlheinz is watching. Always.

So you are a god lol, definitely make Karl uncomfortable but he can hardly do shit against the levels of your power!

Shu

While not as much of a control freak as Reiji we cannot ignore the fact that Shu is an heir apparent. He may seem generally apathetic to the crown but he has had his moments in the games where he steps up and shows responsibility, even if its to avoid Karl's wrath.

That being said Shu is a rather dominant character, while he generally looks to be in more submissive positions: sitting, laying down, beneath Yui. Calling these moments submissive is ignoring the context. Shu is subtle power, unlike Reiji he is not insecure about this position, he owns the situation and so controls Yui and his brothers from merely laying down. Now here you come making a mess. If the discomfort you bring is not bad enough you have cosmic flames.

Shu, the same as his brothers, have never had to submit to what they view as human, and as vampire royalty their only real risk is each other. Coming into the scene may be what finally unites them.

I could just see his face now when he tries to pull you into the bath only to get a very nasty surprise. It wouldn't shock me if he either ran or began attempting to organize an "unfortunate event."

Reiji

Fuck no, just all the way no. While in long term relationships I believe Reiji would generally be more open to submissiveness if you are very clearly more dominate from the open with him you end up dead or he'll die trying. Expect everything in your food, tea, clothing, gas attacks EVERYTHING.

He is fully aware you are plotting something, his father has no power over you so who sent you. Trust the moment you start discussing killing parts of the solar system he's one of the generals leading the army against you.

Ayato

Is there more to say then he would be crying in the corner? Ayato has no end to his toxic masculinity and the mommy issues, and the general insecurity.

I envision he tries to bite you and he gets force punched into the next dimension. He is too stupid to learn to fear you.

Laito

The general rule is don't fuck crazy, and if they're both crazy and is stronger than you, you run. He is normally down to clown with anything with two legs but MOMMY ISSUES.

He is however, smart enough to learn to steer clear and fear after Ayato. I suppose if you want affection he is your best bet, but trust if he ever feels he has a shot he'd be using your affections to stab you in the back.

Kanato

Speed running death ngl. He would charge immediately after you make your mood as the little psycho he is before being toyed with. If you were being particularly cruel you could have him join his doll collection. Before returning those dolls into what I can only assume is a fairly pissed off living form.

Its giving you tapped the class and now the fish is going bonkers but can do nothing to stop you.

Subaru

This is going to sound very dark, and it is, but I think he'd be almost glad that you are ready to and can kill him. Emo thinks he's a monster, best believe he will be arguing until you snap and snap his neck.

Fear must be a very new emotion for him in this form. Sure he may have been scared to hurt people, he has never had to fear someone truly other than in his childhood. Don't think you'll ever know he'll be tooo busy talking back and acting tuff.

Back to Dave and I gotta question his smarts a bit. As we established the projectile sword broke two panes of glass. How does he hope to fix that with gaffer tape? When you close the window later Surprise!, another hole!!

At least we get to talk with GG. I got a little tripped up at first because it says they started chatting at 18:36, which is 6:36. But we are in the past so how can that be? Simple. Dave is located two timezones ahead of John and the time is shown accordingly. This will help narrow down where Cool Kid might be located region wise.

Some notes about GG from their chat:

hm, it depends on your definition of 'of note'- most of the characters disappear in and out but i'll talk about the more plot-instigator ones - and you can probably tell i am somewhat struggling with the mid-plot

idk if you saw allay's ask a few minutes ago um . the smart patrol are a group of 3 kids (like 10) who basically mistake the jester for a villain they fight and try to, well, fight him. they end up hitting his face and he gets knocked out and then they get bored and leave. this starts his transformation into a doll.. (they're from a devo song called smart patrol / mr dna)

when the jester is halfway between 'human' and doll, he meets seireeni (she's the devo song puppet boy). she basically tries to convince him to hang around with her and perform for crowds- and also realizes he isn't from the new wave world and tells him. she's silly but i haven't decided how yet

Farris is actually going to be important i promise . she's based on the great curve, a talking heads song from Remain In Light, a song about / with a theme of spirituality and divinity. i dont really know how to sum it up and i honestly just suggest listening to it . in contrast to most of the characters she is aware of the 'looping' nature of the musical world, and mostly views it as a freeing positive thing. this awareness will be important i just Don't Know How Yet also due to being from remain in light she is Gittens's sister

the jester isn't a human guy. he's from the prog rock dimension. he's that yellow jester mentioned in like, 3 lines of in the court of the crimson king yayyyy. he doesn't remember this At First but, well... he will eventually encounter characters (i have not decided What Song Yet) who are going to be from king crimson songs- NEW WAVE ERA. yeah they dabbled in new wave at one point. YAY

To explain how Lambda has her current intelligence and wisdom ability scores (respectively 9 and 10) and can still spit smart or wise things:

Her wisdom is still even with the average person, and her intelligence is only barely under that. She makes up for these things with the fact that the brunt of the time, she is a dumb-ass-brick, evening out the wise/intelligent actions or statements. Examples under the cut.

Lambda-isms in her D&D verse: – Asked a wish of a reality-bending dhampir child. That wish was for a doll of her pops, Raithyon, according to a reference drawing she had just made for that purpose. (Okay in the context of the scene, she couldn't get anything big due to limitations in the girl's power, but she still sidetracked a critical conversation about the girls' powers for that.) – Jumped overboard the ship she was on, to help what looked like a dying sea humanoid (turned out to be a cursed merfolk), had to Dimension Door back to the ship to escape a grapple and further attacks by this creature's allies. Received DM inspiration, despite party members and allies telling her never to do that again. – Talked with her mouth full during a dinner with a powerful evil undersea archfey (basically if The Little Mermaid's Ursula seized control of the merfolk civilization and was an archfey.) Thankfully received no punishment for this as the archfey didn't care to harm an ally of her precious adopted hexblood daughter; Lambda even received DM inspiration. – Met a pixie (outside of combat, who was friendly) who tried to polymorph the rogue into 'something cute.' Proceeded to hastily draw a cat, hold up the picture, and point at herself in order to get polymorphed. Willingly failed the save and spent the next few minutes nuzzling and purring on the party, until the pixie passed out, drunk. – Saw someone threatening a crowd of villagers in order to get information on her, heard one villager volunteer information on where she was, proceeded to heal that villager's otherwise fatal wound which he was dealt for talking out of turn, and then revealed herself (by dropping Greater Invisibility) to the villain and yelled "PICK ON SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE!" This villain turned out to be her psychotic older sister. – Pantsed a dead vampire who moments ago had tried to drink her dry, to see if he had 'bits.'

Lambda-isms in Discord RPs: – Insisted so hard on getting into a very secret and private meeting, that she specifically was barred from due to the extreme likelihood of fucking it up, that in order to get past the guards at the door to this meeting, she put them to sleep with magic. She was then the key in getting both parties to agree. – Altered, by her own hand, a contract negotiated between her father Raithyon and King Jacinto of Hyrule (over at reginalucem) just so she could have it in writing that, in exchange for the Blackscales' services to Hyrule, she could shake Jacinto's hand (in addition to their other payment(s).) – Stole Zelda's Shiekah Slate in an Age of Calamity verse without any clue of what it was or how it functioned, simply because she heard her pops and auntie talking about how much it might sell for. – Saw a kirin, yelled excitedly, ran over, and hugged it. Additionally, when it became apparent that this kirin was intelligent and trying to communicate by drawing in the dirt with a hoof, Lambda was the only one (out of her, Raithyon, and Sekkala) capable of correctly interpreting what Sekkala described as "a worm that did an unholy mix of the lambada and a seizure and then exploded." – Accidentally discovered she could 'revivify' the recent dead, by proceeding to try to heal someone who had received a fatal wound even after their heart stopped beating. Exhausted herself in doing so and as a result, and passed out. – Frequently goes behind whatever authority applies in her situation in order to arrange things better. Princess Lambda AU example: "There are strong monsters that need handled and Cousin Jacinto's thinking of mobilizing the royal guard to do it? I'll tell Uncle Raithyon!" – Will love on her family without restraint regardless of how serious the present situation is, so long as she is physically able to. – Another Princess Lambda AU example: Became pen pals with Raven Alloway, who in that AU led a group of criminals called the Sablefangs. Every one of the Sablefangs had a reason to hate Hyrule and distrust its royalty... Except Lambda, after meeting her.

February will be a relatively slow month for releases as we focus on the injection molding and assembly of the 5th Gen Evolve frame. While the design of the frame has been optimized as much as possible, the assembly still requires a human to hand-make and tune each frame - like tuning a violin (kinda). Even though frame components are injection molded, the geometric dimensions vary ever so slightly, so to balance the haptic feedback, articulation, posture strength, and sound level of the clicks, we created oversized springboard structures that we tune down to fit each gear - if you pull out the joints, they may look worn-in but are actually tuned down to fit their injection molded counterpart. We do similar tuning for the current Gen 2 frame, which is why joint pegs look sanded down. Hold off from buying a Smart Doll if Evolve sounds like something that may tickle your fancy. If not, get a current Smart Doll or another brand that uses the conventional clamping force frame design. As the name suggests, the Evolve design will continue to improve based on learnings of the previous version. OHOHO ABSOLUTELY, but first a bit of lore!

So most of my ocs are for this own world that I'm making, it's taking inspo from Nimona in terms of being like a semi-modern fantasy world and it still doesn't have a name yet

But!! I've got plenty of characters figured out

The story itself is mainly centered around Cor Addams, a doll-turned-human tasked with making sure their previous owner Anastasia doesn't hurt other people (and damage her family's reputation in the process)

Cor mostly runs away from home, they don't blame Anny for how she treats them because she's just a child that doesn't know better, they're mostly afraid of her parents (Valentino, a weredeer that hates pretty much everyone but his wife, and Morgana, the reason why Cor has a ribbon in their mouth disabling their speech)

Cor and Anny are sent to Nightflame Academy, a boarding school for magic, where Cor meets their friend Camille Piers (who has her own issues she's dealing with at the time, having made a deal with a fairy to make her computer program 'brother' Cameron come to life and not liking how obsessed with her he's become)

She's really smart when it comes to tech, but she's actually pretty bad at magic, of the two of them Cor is better at magic

A few other characters that may show up but are mostly just used in RPs so far are:

Fiona Houndstooth, my werewolf sona/self insert that turns into a cat on full moons

Delilah Baskerville, a kobold who works in the kitchen at Nightflame...by cooking the monsters she hunted while dungeoneering! (She gets paid for both!)

Vespera Lovett, a pest control call responder that likes making friends (and has no idea her supervisor is turning her fired coworkers into mice)

Satchel, a ferret video game streamer that lives in the walls of Vespera's workplace (nobody knows they're a ferret or where they live except Vespera)

Takara Kanemaru, a kitsune who's nice enough if you're nice to her in kind but an absolute menace if you aren't (what do you mean it's hard to tell the difference-)

Strife, a demon with anxiety that was sent to the underworld for the crime of being a people pleaser (he helped people steal and/or murder because he wanted them to like him)

Jimmy (short for Jimothy) Douglas, a demon who works in a grocery store pocket dimension designed to drive people insane (as if regular shopping wasn't bad enough amiright)
