Remus se considerava sortudo em muitas coisas: em ter encontrado James e Sirius tão cedo na vida, em ter conseguido terminar sua educação, arranjado um bom emprego ao lado da pessoa mais doce da cidade (Alice era outro anjo em sua vida, gostava de pensar assim). Porém, tudo de bom que acontecera na vida dele teve um preço e as cicatrizes de tudo de ruim que antecedeu o que foi bom Remus sempre carregava consigo, mesmo que não falasse sobre. A maioria delas era somente metafórica e ninguém jamais conseguiria ver olhando pra ele. Uma pequena, no entanto, ele carregava com pesar e odiava ter que falar sobre, apesar de saber que precisava.

Laura era uma coisa boa em sua vida, disso ele sabia. Mas sabia também que tudo de bom em sua vida acompanhava algo ruim e temia sempre em acabar envolvendo quem não merecia. Mas por que então o que ela tinha dito girava em sua cabeça? Ela estava se afastando e ele entendia, mas por que o incomodava? A ponto de passar uma tarde inteira fazendo biscoitos natalinos (vermelhos para James e Lily, verdes para Sirius e Ken e azuis para Alice e Frank. Os que fez para Laura, no entanto, eram rosa). E era justamente eles que segurava enquanto esperava ela sair do hospital naquela noite fria.

Meseret, Ilona's mother who is off ethiopian descent. aged 50, works as a museum/art curator in the national museum of art in Poznań

Laura, Kajetan's mother who is polish romani. aged 47, runs a flower shop in faraway fields next to the local cemenetery

Jadwiga, aurelia and kasia's maternal grandmother. aged 73, retired. behind her is Danuta, aged 36 (at death). she was the sisters' biological mother.

Wanda and Felicja, Patryk's gay aunts as well as his mother figures. on left there's wanda, aged 37, works at Laura's flower shop. on the right there's Felicja, Patryk father's younger sister, aged 39.

and last but not least, Thuy, Milena's mother who is off vietnamese descent. aged 43, runs a restaurant with traditional vietnamese cuisine along with Milena's dad in Luboń
