Jackal by Erin E. Adams
3.75 Stars
Definitely an interesting read! Honestly, I thought it was a bit boring at first, but I stuck through it and I’m glad I did! I thought that the main character was compelling and I liked how it almost felt like an unreliable narrator at times. It’s not the type of book I usually like (I’m not a huge fan of mysteries) and honestly I wasn’t a huge fan of all the red herrings but that’s not the book’s fault lol. I really loved how Jack’s chapters were written. Not a book I think I would’ve picked up unprompted but definitely still an enjoyable read!
I’d recommend this to fans of mysteries with supernatural components & people who like a book with a lot of dark-ish psychological components.

Kingdom Hearts 3 - San Fransokyo
#kingdom hearts 3#kh3#san fransokyo#scenery#my gif#made sure to put equal parts night and day versions of the city#because i think they both look stunning#i love the verticality of this world. it's fun to climb up to the highest point and fly over all the buildings#if i played this game as a kid i feel like i would 100% pretend sora lived in this city and would find a house for him haha#something that always piqued my curiosity was sora's initial response to first setting foot in this world#he's immediately amazed by what he sees and remarks in awe of the city that he hasn't even fully entered yet (he's still on the bridge)#then he quickly pulls out is phone and wants to tell riku all about it even though he just got there#(i'm sad they didn't make a kingstagram post about it that we could see!)#being islanders from a small town i can imagine it'd be an exciting idea to visit a big bustling city and i wondered if that's-#something they've ever talked about together whenever the topic of exploring new worlds came up as children#it could be some sneaky foreshadowing since the secret ending has sora and riku in quadratum which is also a big city with tall buildings#and i'm sure it's no coincidence that a version of riku shows up in san fransokyo

If those leaks about stranger things 5 on twitter are true then i have nothing else to say other than that it sounds ass.
#I’m sorry but that military plotline sounds so fucking lame like whatever happened to the supernatural plot#and why are they not bringing back vecna until the very end of the season#I wanna believe this isn’t true because the writers did say season 5 is season 1 but on steroids#but that wouldn’t be the first time they lied to us#i’m gonna take these leaks with a grain of salt but if those leaks are real i’m so disappointed and upset#this show used to be so cool it had something going for it#it’s why i love season 1 the most it had a grounded story that wasn’t all over the place#not to mention i liked how the setting was in a small town and not in different parts of the world like season 4#like i’m sorry but the california storyline and russia storyline are lame asf compared to the hawkins storyline#this show had so much sauce#imma eat up season 5 anyway because i love the characters and their dynamics but damn the story went to shit#stranger things#eleven#will byers#mike wheeler#max mayfield#lucas sinclair#dustin henderson#steve harrington#nancy wheeler#jonathan byers#robin buckley#joyce byers#jim hopper#byler#lumax#jancy#jopper

"i just want byler to happen, Mike's sexuality doesn't need to be defined for that" is all well and good but doesn't acknowledge that it would actively devalue byler
for a ship to be compelling and universally enjoyed (not just by a subset of fans who's been hyperinvolved with the ship for years) it needs to be built up and executed well... which means BOTH characters need to have depth and a coherent character arc in order for people to get why the ship is happening and why they should root for it
if we never even get insight into the most surface level "did he even like El romantically at some point" questions, his character is absolutely fucked forever. goodbye main character Mike, Will might as well date a random new guy then if they were to reduce Mike to an actual prop with nothing worth exploring on screen. Byler would have no hit to it and would be a waste of a childhood friends to lovers and mc/mc romance
just Will having a compelling arc with his sexuality isn't enough to carry the ship if the other party gets brushed off with a "he likes Will back so we don't care about anything else he's got going on". especially when Will thinking Mike was straight so he had no chance with him was a main plot point of the previous seasons. Mike can't just suddenly do a 180 with no further explanation without it being bad writing. that's just the fact of the matter. byler would be rushed and bad writing if it was executed like that, no shipping goggles or love for their characters would change that
if you "just want byler to happen" and want it to be done in a way that doesn't have people hate it you DO actually want Mike's sexuality to be addressed. because one requires the other to happen
#byler happening needs both Mike and Will to have good writing to justify how we ended up here#in an 80s small town setting they'd both already have a queer arc needing to be explored#but in Mike's case it's even more on the nose because the idea of him Not being queer was specifically what caused so much conflict#for Byler in s4#if Mike's sexuality is just brushed over Byler would objectively be another ship that had potential in theory but sucked so bad in canon it#fell through

need to speak my truth... keep seeing that "pumpkin spice cafe" book EVERYWHERE and every single time it bothers me that the author chose "laurie gilmore" as her pen name. like putting "booktok sensation perfect for fans of gilmore girls 😍" on the cover wasn't an option so they were like ok just make your name as close to a gilmore girls character as possible and that will say the same thing. I cannot read it on principle like I just refuse to accept that could be a quality book
#the author literally writes her other books under the name melissa or something#but clearly just writing a cosy coffee themed romance set in a small town with a stars hollow esque name was too subtle#so she chose LAURIE GILMORE????#this has been bothering me for months i just had to get it off my chest i'm sorry#talking

for various reasons I feel pretty confident that in the Knuckles show/Sonic 3 they're gonna reveal that Knuckles and Tails are sharing the attic with Sonic, but honestly? tf they mean this house doesn't have ONE spare bedroom???
#various reasons include:#its a kids series and stuff for kids tends to push the 'siblings sharing a room is fun' agenda#also its easier than having to create a new set design/set#also it'd be weird if the new kids/one of the new kids got their own bedroom when they put Sonic in the attic#ALSO it's implied that Sonic lived in his cave for a while?? after the events of the first movie??#and they dressed up the attic with his stuff as a surprise??#so like... if they acknowledge a spare bedroom then they gotta say why they didn't just let sonic use that#instead of making him go back to his cave#and don't even get me started on how tf a sheriff and a vet can afford the small towns' version of a luxury home#maybe they can afford it cuz nobody's buyin a house that big that's only got one bedroom >_>#can you tell im salty about this house#anyway#scu#wachowski family#knuckles wachowski#sonic wachowski#tails wachowski#give them their own rooms propaganda

i love imagining scenarios where morty and summer meet rick and minnie when they were their age, whether through time travel, parallel universe, age regression, or some other sci fi nonsense.
god bless him mortys trying hard to relate to his teenage grandmother from the late 70s
#rick sanchez#morty smith#rick and morty#rick and morty oc#art#my art#rick#morty#minnie#posts that make u look up the wikipedia article for 1977 in video games#i started this one b4 realizing that all the iconic arcade games came out in the 80s#so teen rick and minnie were stuck with pong and blockade instead of frogger and pac man 😔#although space invaders did come out in 78 or 79 i figured they probably wouldn't have it in a small town in indiana so i didnt include it#thats also why they have scattered arcade cabinets around town instead of in a dedicated arcade business#the time period was just a little too early 4 that#some of the old cabinet games seem cool as hell though when u look into them#i mean obviously the graphics were PRIMATIVE#literally just squares and lines#but th actual set ups were cool#like seawolf had u look through a periscope to play it#and indy 4 was a 4 person racing game arcade setup like a table and each side got a wheel a brake and a gas pedal#and u all looked at the large screen at the center of the table to see the racing map#also one more pointless tid bit#but death race was a demolition style game and people criticized it for encouraging vehicular violence#thats why they're not allowed to play it anymore someone probably bitched out the record ship owner for it#I LOVE DOING PERIOD SPECIFIC RESEARCH CAN U TELL
