rambling about biograft x slingshot

people wanted this post and i shall provide !!

long post ahead, be warned

already so the first thing i should mention is that. bioshot started off as a joke because one of my friends who was playing slingshot kept complaining about dying to biograft, one of my other friends went “omg biograft slingshot enemies to lovers”, and then another friend wrote damn good fanfiction about them so thats how it started and now its somehow one of my favorite ships.

naturally, its more of a dynamics thing. biograft is an…interesting character to experiment with in terms of Relationships, namely because of the fact that its a robot who struggles to express a thing and was built to murder things.

take that in contrast with slingshot who lives a very slice of lifey life. owns a quaint little cat cafe, roommates with a pair of siblings who get up to various hijinks, loves his shoes, spends his days baking and cooking, just a kind and zealous fella overall.

biograft also doesnt exactly. Know a lot. poor fella has no clue what money is. and there are some avenues to go down with that.

take this piece of dialogue for example:

this is a lie. biograft frequently asks questions about what things are and if its dialogue with vine staff is proof of anything, it does retain answers to those questions and puts them to use when it can. biograft Can be taught, it just either:

1: doesn’t think it should learn anything

2: doesnt believe it can be taught due to the idea that it was built for one purpose and that it must stick to that purpose or its useless.

3: doesnt want to be taught or dare to step outside of its strict boundaries of interacting primarily with blackrock.

so, whats a better way to break that any one of those mindsets down than deciding out of the blue that, yes, it wants to know more about foot wear? what if slingshot teaches it about other things like baking or how to perform basic tasks around the house? after all, biograft seems fine sleeping in a closet and 3 idiots in an apartment can make quite a mess, there’s nothing bad about having extra hands around.

what if that line of thought goes all the way down to becoming genuinely acquainted with each other? casually learning more about the other as time goes one, biograft stepping further and further away from its original programming to help slingshot and learn more about the world and slingshot slowly spending more and more time to help the robot out.

and yknow, what if they help each other learn a bit about other things along the way?

also its juuuuust a hint of projection + wish fulfillment and if youve followed me long enough you can probably tell who is the slingshot to my biograft cough cough help me

Function within the game:

Retro Candi in game is a Candy shop owner, located near the other shops such as Pwantious, Traffic, and etc. When entering the shop, you would see her behind the counter in an idle animation,

Clicking X—The dialogue you’d get if it was your first would be

'Oh? New face? Welcome in! Name’s Retro Candi, looking for a treat?'

Clicking X again, you’d receive a candy. These candies serve as buffs when in Phighting matches, only one can be used at a time though.

These buffs can range from speed, Strength, shield, and health.

Entering her shop any other time, you receive a vary of lines.

These candies cost about 100 bux, and is somewhat luck of the draw when it comes to duration.

Retro Candi will call you out if you buy over 20 in a row or if you start spam buying.

Personality:

Retro Candi is a snappy yet ‘happy’ individual, she can be seen as passive aggressive and a but rude to others, often being very sarcastic and teasing. Being a bit hot tempered when it comes to certain things, she’s not easily offended not frightened but she can be quite to anger.

She can be very vulgar if she wanted to.

Befriending her would take some time, and a lot of belittling.

She attempts to be polite behind the counter but when she’s not working, she definitely will not care if you’re butt hurt.

Retro Candi can be seen as snarky and humorous, overall someone with a strong personality—Not a pushover for sure.

Background:

Retro Candi grew up in Black rock, and often had a hard time finding food. Often having to steal whatever she could, and had many encounters of her blood sugar levels dropping drastically. regularly pranking Biografts as well. Being a bit of a trouble maker as a kid, and causing the company minor problems. She was never a big threat, until she had taken a prank too far on one of Black rock’s higher ups—being taken into the lab’s custody(Basically kidnapped).

Later being forced to work under them, having her mind altered and basically used as a sort of dummy to test out how long a phighter could go without certain things and such, such as starvation and sleep.

Around the age of 27, she finally managed to get away, and completely started a new life for herself, moving to cross roads and thus opening her shop to help her cope and forget everything of her past.

Retro Candi is based off of those diners who are hired to be passive aggressive to the customers, in like a funny way. Though with Retro she 100% means it.

Retro has a frenemy relation with Slingshot and his cafe, the twi being friendly competitors—sometimes Retro taking it too far sometimes.

If a Biograft were to enter her shop, she would start vulgarly shouting at it and kick it out harshly.

Her personality is targeted to be like mean pinkie pie

srry i’ve been so dead lately

i jsut haven’t been able to come up with anything and whenever i do i think it’s complete trash man the writers block hitting hard

even worse when it’s paired with a damn art block i’m miserable bro

just recently i’ve been working on a new fic thing basically it’s where ur a mercenary like hyperlaser and have bad blood with him so u guys dotn really like eachother (you used to be coworkers but you were a double spy and you betrayed blackrock and killed a friend of his. so basically y’all aren’t on good terms at all) it’s gonna be a thing with the main love interests being katana, banhammer, hyperlaser & scythe but i’m still iffy on that.. thinking about making it everyone x you idk)

if y’all think it’s a good idea i COULD finish up what i have left i really liked the idea i came up with but idk how to execute it well

ALSO you have a gear and an official name (since phighters are named after their gears obv) and ur gonna be called rifle!!! yes i know scythe and is also “rifle” as well but gears can have duplicates and scythe isn’t referred to as rifle in the story… and i thought it’d be neat to have an example of two characters with the same gear names… might add a fun little thing with scythe in future interactions….

in short summary without the curse of my run on sentences, here is the story:

you are a hire-to-kill mercenary with no loyalties to anybody but your paychecks, you kill anybody you need in order to bring the bux back home. unfortunately, you have a huge bounty on your head, everyone’s eyes on you, and countless dead bodies everywhere you go.

do y’all like the fic plot??? it’s more to my tastes ngl i prefer making more angsty and complicated shit and relationships.. adds depth to the story

will be including everyone as the love interests except for slingshot, shuriken, & MAYBE boombox… kinda want to add boom for the hell of it too cuz it’s a funny dynamic “cold mercenary who’s miserable inside x chill music man” idk if i want coil or skate to be included but we’ll see
