The real beginners experience is getting to the Archive area too quick, making friends with the people who saved your ass from sky shrimp, and then finding out they're heading to somewhere called eden and were just collecting lights last minute.

Cut to ubering tiny day 3 me to Eden cause I shitposted about speedrunning, making it to the end with a team of 5, and then getting absolutely fucking obliterated. I felt so bad I had no idea we were supposed to die. The veterans were so cool abt it tho they got a solid giggle. Extremely fun experience 11/10 would recommend

And that's all for now! Back to my Sky Uber job. Can TOTALLY be trusted. Don't need to see where I'm going. Being able to see is overrated.

a lil guide to the terms usually used by sky cotl players!

candle run/cr - its the act of going through the multiple realms in the game to collect the game currency(candles) which is used for almost all the cosmetics and accessories you use in game

winged light/wl - the shiny kids scattered around the map, collecting them will increase your capes amount of winged light and will determine how long you can fly without recharging it.

winged light run/wlr - after getting reborn and losing the previous collected wls you have to go back to all the 6 realms to collect them again

realms - the places/locations you can go to in home, there's six main realms (7 if you count eden but you don't really have to go there often) and many sub realms in them, the main realms in order are:

isle of dawn (isle or dawn when shortened)

daylight prairie (dp or prairie)

hidden forest (usually just called forest by players or hf)

valley of triumph ( valley )

golden wasteland (just called gw)

vault of knowledge (vok or vault)

hearts - it's another type of currency in the game much more difficult to collect than candles, usually you can collect it slowly by sending light to your friends everyday (it's like sending gifts to ur friends) can be traded/gifted by players but only one heart per

uber - what the people who host candle runs who carry/drag (literally) other players to collect candles

moths/moffs - what the community calls new players as they are like moths (running to the light/candles)

skykids - what ppl call/address their avatars

chibi - a player who's using the chibi mask (they are VERY short)

ikemen - pretty boy, what ppl call the players who dress in a cool and boyish way

ikejou - pretty girl, used to refer players who dress in a feminine way

veteran - its what players call to ppl played for a long time, what's considered a vet player varies a lot but usually it's when a player has been playing sky for a year or more

traveling spirit/ts - what the spirits you encounter in the game are called when they come to visit home and their cosmetics are available for purchase! they take turns and it's always at the first and last week that the spirit comes back (also the only way to get old cosmetics from past seasons, apart from the monthly/weekly events that return every year)

Wait wait wait… so you’re not supposed to be unable to see the next candle??? The first floor is fine but on the second floor, I just bumble around in the darkness and hope that “flame” icon pops up before I die.

Well I guess I’m never doing fire trial ever again

So after this update, the first thing I notice is that the floor looks really nice

The second thing I notice is that I can’t see the next candles anymore

I could barely complete the first level. I gave up partway into the second because there was just no way. I like the fire trial, I like to run it with no oobs or anything, I have a pretty good sense of the map… and now it’s simply impossible. That tiny bit of white of the next unlit candle is the only direction you get. Now it’s gone, and I’m just charging into the dark with a three second lifespan.
