I can't believe the milk skirt is not popular enough to warrant a restock!! This is the very first skirt that caught my eye from your shop, and at the time I thought it's already discontinued!! I feel so lucky I was able to snag up one today! Do you have any other skirts you're surprised didn't perform as well as you expected?
the milk skirt WAS discontinued ages ago, we just found a few stragglers in the office. the OG milk skirt (blue hem) is from 2017 but the newer one is from just last year. the original version sold OK for a while, and then really poorly, and we were hoping maybe a new. more subtle version would sell better but we were wrong lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as for other designs that sadly didn't sell as well as i expected, there are quite a few!
the tea skirt in its multiple iterations. they are such slow sellers that devin has outlawed me from creating any new color variants of this design so it is dead forever. unless we find stragglers it will never be sold again. (OG cream and pink colors are from 2020, blue is from 2022)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the monstera (2022) and moth (2020) skirts. the monstera skirt just suffered from being the 10th most popular design in a preorder poll that we picked 10 designs from. people liked it but prioritized buying other designs first so we never reprinted it. the moth skirt, idk, i made it as a companion piece to the bee skirt but i think because it's set on diamonds and not hexagons the moths end up too close together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the elephants skirt (2020). this one people were absolutely mad for when i was drawing the art and it just kind of sold OK. not awful, but not great.
Tumblr media
and the original spring color palette of the hiss from a rose skirt (2019). the other color palettes (black & red and winter) have done better, which is a good thing, but also im sad because i love the OG color palette. i think the original printing of it lacked some contrast that would give it more definition, and i've since reworked it to print better, but it sold so abysmally we haven't reprinted it since the changes were made. 😭
Tumblr media
the royalty skirt (2019). idk why y'all hated this one so much it's still cute
Tumblr media
there are a bunch more i could talk about too but i'm out of images so that's it for now.

Ensemble designed for Pattie Boyd
The Fool
1967
The Fool were a Dutch design collective led by Marijke Koger and Simon Posthuma, best known for their work with the Beatles, which included designing the tunics the band wore for their 1967 television broadcast of All You Need Is Love, decorating John Lennon's piano and George Harrison's Mini, painting a circular mural at the Harrisons' Surrey home Kinfauns, designing the inner sleeve of the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band LP and, most famously, painting a three-story psychedelic mural on the facade of the Beatles' short lived Apple Boutique in London's Baker Street, which was subsequently painted over by order of the local council. Pattie Boyd and her sister Jenny were fans of the collective and would model their clothing designs for the Apple Boutique. According to Boyd, this brocade ensemble was custom made for her by The Fool and she recalls wearing it during a trip to Greece with all four Beatles in July 1967 to explore the possibility of buying a set of Greek islands.

why are skirts inherently evil and oppressive in historical fiction until men are wearing them
I've never heard anyone going on at length about how Universally ImpracticalTM the garb of a Scotsman or an ancient Roman politician are
suddenly everyone has a concept of situational practicality that previously was not there

al haitham is dreaming. he's- he's sure of it.
why else would that secretary he's been harboring some not-so-pure feelings for be bending over right in front of him, her little skirt riding up and over the swell of her ass just enough to see a full show of what cute panties might lay hidden beneath.
except there was nothing under that tight skirt. she. . .
she wasn't wearing anything.
al haitham had the perfect view of two full pussy lips squished so beautifully between the seam of her plush thighs from his desk.
thoughts of planting himself behind her and sliding his cock right into that pretty little cunt almost immediately barged their way into his mind, evicting any other logical thought that may have resided there until this moment. he couldn't possibly look away, liquid heat rushing to his gut at the idea of fucking her doggy-style against the bookshelf she was sorting through right now.
he wasn't sure whether to promote or fire whoever requested those research articles she was now gathering from the large cabinet right in front of his desk. she seems oblivious to al haitham's current ordeal, however. and he was uncertain if she was aware of the revealing position she put herself in. maybe it was just laundry day.
or perhaps, haitham thought, feeling his cock twitch to life even more, she never wears panties. . .
oh, archons.
so now al haitham just has to be patient. he'll sit there, heart hammering away, staring at that tight-looking pussy taunting him from across the room until she's finished her business and takes leave of his office.
he won't breathe a word to her except for a simple request. just for her to close the door on her way out, so as soon as it clicks shut he can pull his cock out and relieve himself of this burning need currently laid weeping against his thigh and straining tight in his pants.
but for now she still sorts through documents, and al haitham will continue burning this sight in his memory to use for many, many lonely nights to come.

you ever thought of doing like, a poodle skirt, but instead of a poodle its a chibi of one of your ocs/character designs? id buy that in a heartbeat
some of my earliest skirt designs were basically like that (tho not in poodle placement), back when i did fan merch and also made merch for monsterpop
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i don’t make fan merch anymore tho and tbh other than the hands skirt, which only has hands, the skirt designs i’ve previously made that had people on them just don’t sell well so it’s just not something i do anymore

The '49 Little Women movie does suffer a lot from being made in the aftermath of WW2, but one thing it does great is Jo climbing the fence in that massive dress all the time. Look at a tomboy in military inspired clothing climbing shit! She isn't stopped by them because they're her clothes and she knows how to wear them
When you compare that Jo to 2019 Jo you really see how modern people cannot understand that historical people were in fact people, and we don't need to modernize them to make them so.
I also wonder if that movie Got It better because women and girls were still broadly expected to wear skirts when it was made. And anybody who's been around Actual Human Children knows that you will never stop some little girls from climbing things, no matter what they wear. It's just a question of how much damage you want their clothing to sustain while they do it (hence why real 1860s children's clothing was generally made of dark or printed, hard-wearing fabrics, and little girls didn't wear their hoops for everyday play attire- and very few pieces of it survive, regardless)
I have done things in an instep-length skirt that a lot of modern people wouldn't believe possible. Last week I climbed over a sharply-angled waist-high beam to squeeze through a tiny gap, walk across the attic of a historical site, and wind an 18th-century tower clock. It was awesome. Did I have to tuck up my skirts to a level that some might have considered indecent when the clothing I wear was popular? Yes, and that's why I'm glad I don't actually live back then! But you'd better believe not every woman was going to let propriety stop her from Having Experiences, even if she liked wearing skirts and had no desire to don trousers, and many didn't.
Tumblr media
These women are climbing a freaking glacier. I couldn't even do that in trousers, skill-wise
Now, does that mean that skirts are the most practical choice for doing these things? No. It is probably better to wear trousers when climbing a tree, for example. I am glad women have trousers as an option today and I know that was a hard-won battle, just to be clear. But it does mean that they're not fully IMpractical in the sense of "a garment you cannot do physical activity in if called upon to do so"
