Yes, though common sense tells us its mostly photoshopped or highly edited pictures, but is this really difficult to achieve in real life? Cosrx One Step Pimple Clear Pads & One Step Moisture Up Pads

After finishing two tubs of each of these, I think it’s finally time to give my thoughts on Cosrx’s pimple clear pads and moisture up pads.

First off, if you love quirky packaging then these will definitely be right up your alley. Both tubs have illustrations of Mr.Rx (Cosrx’s mascot) which adds a fun and personal touch.

Both pads have a similar concept: 70 pre-soaked pads with an embossed side for gentle exfoliation and a flat side for wiping away dirt and oil. Both can be used as a first or last step in your cleansing routine (not as an actual makeup remover though, see end of review) or alternatively as a toner after cleansing. However the similarities end there because both have different functions!

ONE STEP PIMPLE CLEAR PADS

Effectiveness: I noticed that my break outs were kept to a minimum and healed faster while using these pads. I wouldn’t expect these pads to cure or prevent acne completely (if you have severe acne or are acne prone at least).These will definitely help individuals with excessive sebum production, blackhead/white head issues and minor acne issues. I prefer using these in the summer/spring because I tend to be oilier.

Fragrance/Sensitivity: It has a tea tree scent that isn’t too strong. It doesn’t linger and didn’t irritate my skin.

Cruelty Free/Vegan: Cruelty Free

Ingredients:  Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Water (skin conditioning and soothing, 1), Butylene Glycol (dissolves dirt without drying skin, 1), Glycerin (solvent and moisturizer, 2), Betaine Salicylate (antimicrobial and exfoliator, 1), 1,2-Hexanediol (solvent, 1), Arginine (skin conditioning, 1), PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil (surfactant, 3), Panthenol (humectant and skin conditioning, 1), Allantoin (skin conditioning, skin protecting and soothing, 1), Ethyl Hexanediol (fragrance and solvent, 3), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil (fragrance and astringent, 1), Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil (antioxidant and fragrance, 1), Sodium Hydroxide (pH adjuster, 3), Sodium Hyaluronate (humectant and skin conditioning, 1).

ONE STEP MOISTURE UP PADS

Effectiveness: I notice that my skin feels moisturized and plump after using them. My skin looks smooth and bright after consistent use. I prefer using these in the winter/fall because it provides an extra layer of moisture since canadian winters are dry and my skin becomes excessively dry.

Fragrance/sensitivity: It has a pleasant lime scent that isn’t irritating (for me at least). It may be a bit powerful for those who are extremely sensitive but it doesn’t linger. 

Cruelty Free/Vegan: Cruelty Free

Ingredients: Propolis Extract (1), Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Betaine, Cetearyl Olivate (1), Sorbitan Olivate (1), 1,2-Hexanediol, Betaine Salicylate, Panthenol, Allantoin, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer (1), Sodium Hyaluronate, Ethylhexylglycerin (1), Sodium Hydroxide, Xanthan Gum, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil (3), Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil (1).

Products swatched (top to bottom): Peripera Lip Tint, Peripera Ink Velvet, Shu Uemura Lip Gelato (CR01), Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip (Avenue), Bite Lip Pencil (Rhubarb), Tarte Lip Pencil (Thirsty) and Aritaum Idol Waterproof Eye Pencil (#8 Baby Rose).

As you can see, it can remove non waterproof products fairly well. It could work as a first step or last step cleansing aid (make sure to use an oil or foam cleanser though, depending on what you’re wearing). On days my skin feels particularly dry, I like to use the moisture pads after I use a foam or oil cleanser to remove any remaining make up without stripping my skin. I often use these to wipe away dirt and debris first thing in the morning instead of using a cleanser so my moisture barrier isn’t disrupted.
