Becoming Papi
An unnamed narrator wins a competition to get "up close and personal" with his favourite hockey player, Auston Matthews. Turns out he may be getting closer and more personal than he anticipated!
This is a story I've posted elsewhere. It is my story, copyright me.
"Get Up-close and Personal with Auston Matthews!” The competition had said. I had entered on a whim, never expecting to win. I was very surprised to receive the winning notice in my inbox a few days later. For a week, I had been buzzing. I was going to meet my favourite hockey player! Number 34 of the Toronto Maple Leafs: Auston Matthews.
And now I was here! Sitting in a random training room at the Ford Performance Centre in Etobicoke, Ontario, just outside of Toronto. The room was cool and full of exercise equipment. Massive banners hung from the ceiling and the walls were covered in different murals of player faces and motivational phrases. I fiddled with my shirt as I waited, thinking about how Auston was likely in the next room also waiting for me. I wondered if he was as nervous as I was or if he was calm and cool, but before I could put much into the thought, the door opened. A woman dressed in black poked her head through the gap.
“You can come in now,” she said.
I smiled and and followed her through the door. The room on the other side was a long room, with wooden dressing stalls and benches against the walls. Hockey equipment hung at each stall; pants, shoulder pads, blue and white practise jerseys and the room had a gentle odour of sweat. A massive Maple Leaf logo covered much of the floor, and sitting on one of the wooden benches was Auston Matthews. He was wearing a cream coloured hoodie, shorts and a baseball cap. The way he sat on the bench pushed his thighs, making them seem thicker and bigger. His hair was slicked back behind his ears while his dark moustache was sitting darkly on his upper lip.
“Auston,” I murmured, reaching towards him with my hand. “It’s so, so incredible to meet you!”
“Hey,” he said in a relaxed drawl and standing up to meet me. He was taller than me. His smile instantly relaxed me. “Nice to meet you.”
“I’m such a big fan. You’re, like, my favourite player.” I was gushing, but I didn’t care.
He was killing me with that smile. I realized I was still gripping his hand.
“Oh sorry!” I said, but his hand tightened and firmed around mine. I felt a warm tingling around my palm for a moment before he let go and grinned at me.
“You’re going to be perfect,” he said. “What happens next is going to be weird… Just relax and let it happen.”
He let go of my hand and I felt my face contort into a puzzled expression. But before I was able to voice a question, I was met with an extreme pricking sensation travelling up my arm. It started in the hand Auston had just shook and gradually travelled and radiated across my body. It felt like a warm, relaxing wave that cascaded through my blood and over my skin.
“You should probably take off your clothes for this,” Auston said.
I nodded and did what I was told, tossing everything in a corner. The waves were coursing faster through my body now, making my heart thump in my chest. I spied a mirror on the wall and walked over to it, ignoring the fact that I was naked. The tingling sensation was across my entire body now, causing me to become excited and aroused. My penis began to lift and grow harder, and so it only felt right to touch it. I stood naked in the Maple Leafs’ dressing at their practice facility, feeling dazed and tingly, stroking my cock for extra sensation.
The tingling stopped, but the warmth remained and a sudden jolt of energy attacked my shoulders. My shoulders clicked and popped and widened out, with new muscle mass stretching overtop. At the same time, my deltoids and pectoral muscles ballooned, becoming thicker and much more pronounced with thick layers of muscle. I felt strength and power push down into my core. Where once there had been a ring of fat, there were now strong abdominal muscles. My stomach tightened and fortified, needing more room to house the brawn I was gaining, and I became stocky and heavy-set in muscle. Dark lines sketched their way across my right side and arm: new tattoos inked their way onto my bulked mass. An intricate sleeve tattoo wove across my right arm, painting dark lines across my lightly browning skin. I stroked my hand across my chest, feeling the raw strength and newly sprouted chest hair underneath my fingertips. My back cracked and stretched as I jumped up several inches in height.
The skin on my penis darkened and the shaft grew in girth and length into a monster cock. Pre-cum began to drip out of the tip. I was enjoying the changes.
In the mirror I saw a wide-chested, bulked out body attached to two stick-like legs. To say it looked like I skipped leg day would be an understatement. Almost automatically, the changes continued in my lower half. My butt ballooned and padded out, looking like two globes attached to my waist, the product of millions of squats. My thighs thickened and increased significantly, looking more like massive trunks than legs now. Below that, my calves became cut and toned, shedding any excess fat and leaving behind only raw muscle. I stood on two strong centres of explosive power. The skin browned slightly, matched the hue of the my torso.
I looked in the mirror at my new body. Instinctively, I knew it was Auston Matthews’ body. Everything from the neck down was unfamiliar, different and new, but deep down I knew it was right. In fact, it looked odd seeing my thin head attached to such a muscular body. The changes were not finished yet. I turned and saw the other Auston (the real Auston) with his shorts around his ankles, stroking his penis vigorously; it appeared he was enjoying my changes as much as I was.
Turning back to the mirror, I saw my skull and expanding, creaking and cracking as it went. My chin pushed forward, squaring off the back of my jaw as well. My eyes became more inset, slightly narrower and darker and my nose more pointed and wide at the nostrils. My hair lengthened down towards my neck, and my forehead broadened as my hairline migrated to the very top of my head. My ears flattened a little against my head and became longer. The wild and bushy eyebrows I sported before thinned, becoming tapered lines above my dark eyes. My teeth whitened and straightened. And above my thickening lips, a dark wisp of hair poked out through my skin and thickened into a Latino-style moustache. It swept across my entire upper lip into a neat half triangle that stretched under my nose. More patches of scruff and facial hair dotted across my cheeks and neck. Auston Matthews was staring at me from the mirror.
“That was sick, bro!” The other Auston Matthews was behind me, retying the drawstring on his shorts. He was wearing a face mask now, and a dark blue coloured hoodie and cap. His eyes looked lighter than before, almost like he had changed his own appearance as well. He stepped over, offering me his hand to high-five.
I felt my face smile that trademark Auston Matthews smile. “Thanks,” I replied, my voice now lower and echoing the same laid-back drawl, and returned his high-five.
“You probably have a million questions. Like ‘what happened’, ‘what did you do?’, right?”
“Something like that!” I laughed.
“So, yeah, basically… I want some time off. I’m going to disappear for a while… Get off the grid and relax. So while I’m gone, I want you to cover for me. This is your prize for winning that competition!”
“So I’m you?” I said, not fully understanding.
“Not yet. You will be, just as soon as I’ve said the code word. After that, you will be Auston Matthews and I’ll just be some guy.”
“Oh,” I said. “I- I’m pretty shit at hockey. Like, I can skate but I can’t shoot for shit. I can’t even lift the puck. I don’t know how this is gonna work.”
“Don’t worry about that. As soon as I say the code word, the transformation will finish and you’ll have all of my skills and memories, my winning personality… everything! You’ll be a complete copy of me.”
“Really? That’s fucking awesome! But what about the me from before? People are going to wonder where I am.”
“I’ll take care of that. Don’t worry. Let’s just say, that guy from before? He’s living on the other side of the planet. I’ll be back in a year, maybe more if you want, and I’ll change you back. All right?”
A life of possibilities flashed through my mind. I had never thought of playing in the NHL, even as a fantasy, and now it was about to become my reality.
“Oh! I forgot one thing,” Auston said as he lifted his arms behind his neck to two silver chains that were hooked there. “You’ll need these,” he said, and he carefully slipped them around my neck.”
I looked into the mirror, staring back at my naked body, taking in my massive hockey butt and sleeve tattoo. The silver chains caught the light, and a silver cross stuck against my massive pectorals. It felt complete now. I ran my hands over my shoulders, chest, stomach and butt, grinning at myself. I’m going to be Auston Matthews! I thought. No, I am Auston Matthews!
“All right bud, this is it. Remember, from this moment, you are going to be Auston Matthews. It’s going to feel awesome and amazing. Enjoy it.” The other Auston wrapped his arm around my beefy neck. “Don’t forget, you’ve got practice after this, ay Papi?”
Papi? A calm fog entered my brain. The world melted away from me and I felt the final changes take hold.
My name is Auston Matthews. I was born in California and grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona. I am part Mexican. I am a professional hockey player. I play for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
My name is Auston Matthews. I was born in California and grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona. I am part Mexican. I am a professional hockey player. I play for the Toronto Maple Leafs…
My name is Auston Matthews.
My brain filled with years of hockey practice, workouts, flashes of Mexican heritage, memories of playing for USA National Team, playing with the ZSC Lions in Zürich and of playing with the Toronto Maple Leafs. I remembered the awards I had won, the All Star games I had played in, the teammates I had played with. My brain relaxed and mellowed, as new personality traits took over. The foreign-feeling muscles I had just grown became familiar and normal; I immediately knew how to use the power in my legs and arms. Some Spanish words entered my brain and I felt my identity switch to part Mexican. The fog lifted from my brain, and the room re-materialised around me.
What am I doing here, staring at myself in the mirror! I need to get dressed for practice!
I immediately strode over to my dressing stall — the one marked MATTHEWS 34 — and slipped on my compression gear and skate socks. I grabbed my jock and pulled it up to my waist, adjusting my crotch and penis to sit within the cup. Sitting, I reached for my shin pads, fixed him to my legs, and strapped the Velcro around my calves. I pulled a pair of blue and white striped hockey socks overtop of my shin pads, and hooked them securely at my waist.
I was on autopilot at this point; everything felt natural and normal.
I slid into a pair of blue hockey pants and tightened them around my waist. I saw that my skates were a custom pair of CCMs, with a blue and white pattern around the ankle with my nickname Papi and number 34 next to it. I stomped my foot inside the boot and tied my skates on tight. Quickly, I took a roll of hockey tape and wrapped one, two, three strips tightly around my shins. Next I grabbed my shoulder pads and elbow pads and strapped them around my massive arms and chest. I pulled a blue practise jersey over my pads, the number 34 emblemed on the back. Instinctively, I ran my hand through my hair and slicked it back, making it easier for me to don my helmet. I clipped the straps and checked it was on tightly.
I reached for my gloves, putting them on felt familiar and welcoming. I nimbly ambled over, walking in skates, towards the rink exit, grabbing two of my PAPI labelled sticks from the rack. They were already taped and waxed and ready for some quick wristers on the ice. With my equipment on and my sticks in hand, I walked towards the ice.
Before stepping on the rink, I noticed a figure in the stands; an anonymous figure in a cream-coloured hoodie. I offered a loose salute from my temple and took my first stride. I let my powerful leg muscles work the way they had been conditioned to as I made confident movements across the pad. Spying a puck, I pivoted and strode towards it, catching it with my stick and pulling it towards me. I skated towards the empty net and in an instant, snapped it into the back of the goal. The whole movement had taken less than a second. I grinned and looked back to the now empty spot where the figure had stood.
“My name is Auston Matthews, and I play for the Toronto Maple Leafs,” I thought to myself and ripped off another shot on goal.

Embrace Smooth Skin with Laser Hair Removal in Etobicoke
In today's society, people look for effective and long-lasting hair removal remedies because smooth, hair-free skin is frequently linked to confidence and beauty. Let me introduce you to laser hair removal, a non-invasive cosmetic process quickly becoming the method of choice for many individuals who wish to get rid of undesirable body hair. This infographic walks you through the laser hair removal procedure and offers insightful information on why this procedure is becoming more and more popular in places like Etobicoke.
Understanding the Process of Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a cosmetic surgery that targets and destroys hair follicles with concentrated light beams. Future hair development is inhibited due to the pigment in the hair follicles absorbing the laser's energy. The surrounding skin is usually untouched by the exact process. Since hair grows in cycles and the laser works best during the active growth phase, multiple sessions are needed to get the desired results.
Preparing for Laser Hair Removal
A laser hair removal treatment's success depends on proper preparation. This involves staying out of the sun because too much melanin in the skin can reduce the laser's efficiency. To guarantee that the laser directly targets the hair follicles, shaving the treatment region the day before the operation is advised. It was notifying the physician about any drugs, skin care products, or underlying medical issues that could affect treatment.
Benefits of Laser Hair Removal
When compared to other hair removal techniques, laser hair reduction has many advantages. Long-lasting effects are achieved because the damaged hair follicles do not grow back. Ingrown hairs, razor burns, and skin irritation are less familiar with laser hair removal than waxing or shaving. The process is not painful; many say it hurts slightly, like when a rubber band snaps. Since laser hair removal removes the need for frequent shaving and waxing, it can also be more affordable in the long run.
Aftercare and Long-term Maintenance
To ensure optimal results from a laser hair removal surgery, it's critical to adhere to the recommended aftercare guidelines. This entails avoiding the sun and applying sunscreen to shield the treated region from UV radiation. It is recommended against using depilatory lotions, waxing, or plucking the treated area because these procedures may interfere with the hair development cycle necessary for more sessions. It's also advised to keep the skin hydrated and moisturized to aid in healing and relieve any transient redness or irritation. Periodic touch-up treatments may be required to sustain the long-term effects of laser hair removal, depending on individual hair growth patterns.
Conclusion
The way people approach hair removal has changed dramatically thanks to laser hair removal treatments in places like Etobicoke. Many people find this procedure beneficial since it provides a long-term, effective, and less invasive solution to unsightly body hair. For the best outcomes, it is essential to comprehend the treatment's preparation, procedure, and aftercare. By going with laser hair removal, you may invest in the confidence that comes with feeling good about yourself, not just in physical attractiveness but also in independence from regular hair removal procedures. A hassle-free, hair-free existence, and smooth, velvety skin are promised with laser hair removal.

FULL NAME ► Nicholas “Nick” Alexander De Los Santos AGE ► Twenty Two GRADE ► Junior MAJOR ► Business Management ROOMMATE ► Elliot Turner
A B O U T:
+ adaptable, fearless, loyal - quick-tempered, cynical, foolhardy
►THE GENIUS BRUISER - a physically strong character who is more than capable of holding their own, who also is incredibly intelligent and knows it. their brain is one of their strongest assets, along with their ability to defend themselves.
H E A D C A N O N S:
(TW: Drugs) Born to Leticia De Los Santos and an absentee father, Nick was raised in a slum in Etobicoke (Southside Toronto). His mother is a drug addict which led to her neglecting both him and his twin sister, Remi. At the age of 10, he was providing for them (clean laundry, proper hygiene, alarm clocks for school and nickel-and-diming meals) the best that he could.
(TW: Violence) In exchange for her fixes, his mother would force him to sit with Remi inside her bedroom closet whilst she had strangers coming and going all hours of the night. When he was 11, he came running to his mother’s woeful cries when a client was too rough, resulting in his first scar (the left corner of his mouth) when a broken beer bottle was used in retaliation in his attempt to save her.
(TW: Violence) His second scar was the result of an alcohol infused fight between him and another kid from the neighborhood when he was 12, in which Nick was stabbed in the abdomen. Upon his release from the hospital, he was charged with public intoxication, underage consumption and unruliness and sentenced to 30 days in a juvenile detention center where he met a 14-year-old Kyle.
Their bond was instant, and Kyle demanded that Nick be able to leave with him. After some convincing, Clay Middleton spoke briefly to Nick’s mother on the telephone and was allowed to sign him out. Nick had divulged some things about his home life to Kyle, and that same night, he was taken to the Middletons where he met a 10-year-old Jenna.
(TW: Rape) Nick was 14 when he boosted his first car. It was then that he lost his virginity, too. He had gone along with Remi’s idea to visit their mother against his better judgement, eventually succumbing to what he thought was sleep, coming to without memory of what had happened the previous night. The course of the next few days would lead him back to Leticia after he realized that he had been raped, Nick’s anger getting the best of him. He had blacked out, advancing on the woman that had given birth to him, hands squeezing her throat and Remi pleading for him to stop. His twin sister saved their mother’s life that day. Nick hasn’t looked back since then.
On their 15th birthday, Remi introduced him to Tori Santamaria. The girls had become fast friends after they had been enrolled at Degrassi. Nick had never had to think twice about anything in his life ─ but he couldn’t even remember his name to give to the exquisite beauty. He had never believed in love at first sight, but Tori flipped his world upside-down. She was the first person other than his family who he trusted. There wasn’t anything that he felt was on a need-to-know basis with her. He gave her everything ─ including his virginity, once he had accepted that what had happened with his mother’s friend didn’t count.
(TW: Violence) Graduating was one of the hardest things that Nick has ever done. He’s smart but impulsive. His short fuse is notorious for landing him in bad spots. High school was no exception. He was regularly in detention and detained once after a fight that escalated because another student told Jenna that he was a charity case. Nick broke their wrist.
He’s fluent in Spanish.
His birthday is May 4th.
Nick isn’t Clay’s son, but his wife checks in with him as often as he permits her to. At 22, he’s business partners with Audrey. She owns half of his nightclub ─ Club NV. Her only stipulation was that he attend Crestmont.
C O N N E C T I O N S:
► Jenna Middleton (adoptive-sibling) — He’s her protector. It was signed, sealed and delivered the moment that she flung herself into his arms when they were little. He’s been with her through every heartbreak, giving up Tyson, the death of her father and the birth of their sister. Jenna never shone hesitation since the day that Kyle brought him home 10 years ago, embracing him fully, and they love each other fiercely.
► Tori Santamaria (wife) — He remembered how snowflakes clung delicately to her rebel curls and melted against her sun-kissed skin. The Christmas lights that surrounded the ice rink danced brightly in her chocolaty orbs, and Nick asked her to marry him, promising to love her and take care of her for however long he had left of his life. He carries around the regret of their failed marriage, and he’s determined to win back her heart.
► Amelia Rosenburg (twin flame) — Twin flames are two people who were split into different bodies but share the same soul. Nick and Lia’s friendship give it definition. They know eachother inside and out, and he can’t remember a time when she hasn’t been an absolute constant in his life; a confidant; his keeper; and on rare occasions his backbone. She’s Bonnie to his Clyde.
► Drew Torres (close friends) — Drew is Nick’s best friend despite their demanding schedules. They met in high school, hanging with the same crowds and sometimes falling apart, but friendships are real bro shit to Nick. Anytime Drew needs him, he’s there, never asking for explanations as to why X-amount time has come and gone since they last spoke, and when they’re together, they don’t miss a beat. Their only conflict ( unknowing to Nick ) is Jenna. She’s off limits to all of her brother’s friends, and he made it law from the get-go. Sometimes matters of the heart ( or in Drew and Jenna’s case ─ matters of desire and neediness ) trump the trust of your best friend. Could this cause a permanent rift between them?

It's Black History Month Everyday
Sending love to you and thank you for tuning in!
I know that it has been weeks since Black History Month - 2022 has ended, but why stop celebrating Black excellence? Why stop amplifying Black voices? Why stop shopping at Black businesses?
There is a tendency to only engage in diverse practice when a topic is trending. Diwali is here, let's engage the South Asian community. Pride Month is here, let’s engage the LGBTQ community. It’s Orange Shirt Day, let’s engage the Indigenous community. All the events I have mentioned (and more) are meant to recognize the challenges these communities have faced historically while continuously celebrating the strides many have taken within these communities to elevate themselves and the community at large.
Cultural recognition or celebration does not need to be limited to a month or a day of action.
I experience this most through my business when working with corporate clients. There is often a sudden rush to book Carnival Spice for events during emancipation month or Black history month to fit a “theme” per say - instead of realizing that the culture and community exists year round. It is okay to have cultural - based conversations or programs at anytime.
As a Black Caribbean woman navigating the arts and fitness industry, a large part of my personal mission is to consistently show up, take up space and ensure people that look like me are always visible - even if it goes against societal norms.
If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen the Black History Month series I did highlighting Black Owned Businesses (& brands) based in the General Toronto Area that I enjoy.
For your convenience, you can find the full list (+more) and their contact information below. May you also shop, support or amplify them; not just because they are Black Owned, but because they are talented at what they do.

Navigating November 2020
Wonderful, another month has come and gone. It’s hard to tell when I’m in a bad mood these days. I feel like all of my moods are sprinkled with bits of sadness since it’s been such a rough year on everyone. It seems hard to be hopeful and optimistic for the coming months because of everything that has gone on already, but I think I’ll continue on with my internal mantra of “fake it ‘til you make it” - that’s healthy, right? In any case, here’s what happened last month:
I usually don’t mention the things that I don’t do, but this one is notable: I didn’t have the Thanksgiving croissant from Milk Bar this year (because I’m in Canada at the moment). So this is really just a reminder to myself to go hog-wild on them next November.
I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned them before, but the ready-made roast beef sandwiches at San Remo’s in Etobicoke? A PERFECT SANDWICH.
I rewatched the original (better) Jumanji and goddamit what a great movie. How did I forget what a perfect movie that was? Miss Robin Williams so much. Which reminds me: I gotta rewatch Jack soon (Coppola’s greatest movie, in my humble opinion). Haven’t seen that one in ages.
Some thoughts on how to have a less expensive Christmas.
Love the new “Oat Milk Latte” nail polish colour at Urban Outfitters. Something about a boring neutral has been really turning me on lately.
The best new hand lotion I’ve used in a long time: this Kiehl’s Hand Salve. I put it on once in the morning and once before bed and it’s crazy how soft it makes them, even if you wash your hands numerous times a day (which, god, I hope you’re doing).
I know that I tend to live in the past at times, but are you ever needing to print some photos fast and don’t know where to get it done? Years ago, they had machines at Shoppers and then they disappeared. And I just discovered that Staples has those print-right-now machines! It takes seconds to print from your phone and it’s crazy cheap. I think you can only get 4 x 6 in size, but still. That’s great!
I’ll always love Cobs Bread (thanks to Marla years ago for introducing me) but I just tried their garlic focaccia and my god. Heavenly. It also makes a great base for any kind of at-home grilled cheese or even an at-home garlic bread using garlic butter.
So I tried the Popeye’s chicken sandwich that people were stabbing each other for and… I fully understand the murdering mentality. It’s an incredible chicken sandwich. I was expecting not to understand the hype, but here I stand before you, four chicken sandwiches deep.
I’ve been consistently using the Luna Night Oil from Sunday Riley (a small version that came with a gift set) and I think it’s really working well. My skin looks amazing in the morning after each use. So I might bite the bullet and buy the full size when I run out.
Just so sad to see Alex Trebek pass away. Favourite clip, followed by second favourite clip.
I simply cannot stop ordering the vegetable fried rice from Fortune Dragon in Mississauga. Can’t and WON’T.
I had such a terrible experience using Skip The Dishes the other night (there was a problem with an order and the restaurant refused to fix the problem and I was on the phone with STD (hahah, can we all call them this from now on PLEASE) for over an hour, just disgusting). So now they’re banned in our house.
And speaking of annoying food experiences, Scaddabush got rid of the best sandwich on their menu. What. the. hell. It was a prosciutto cotto grilled cheese with Italian cured ham, caramelized onions, mozzarella, and fig jam on a focaccia bun and IT IS NO MORE. I did attempt to make it at home one night and it was actually really good, but still. Who wants to spend their evenings caramelizing onions for hours in the kitchen? Well, I do, for one. But regardless! Bad move, Scaddabush.
I came across these actually helpful, fast TikTok beauty tips.
Excited to visit this new food hall in Long Island City one day.
Love these two new Tierra Whack songs.
I love hearing these kinds of butterfly effect stories, always.
This whole listicle made me laugh.
How on earth can someone build a roller coaster in their backyard? People continue to impress me. This is amazing.
It’s pure and complete trash that chihuahuas never win dog shows.
Look at this beauty from The National Dog Show.
Considering this beautiful palette for purchase even though I have plans to go nowhere, every night, for the rest of time.
I made these fondant potatoes and they were good! Love a new way to cook a potato.
I watched Coneheads for the first time and it was a surprisingly fun movie. It also happens to be the ultimate pro-immigration movie. Loved it.
I watched the Fresh Prince reunion and it was good! It was nice to see Nicky.
If you’re looking for a dog groomer in Mississauga, I can’t say enough good things about You Lucky Dog Grooming. They cut Baby Dog’s nails perfectly for $10 and it took less than five minutes. They were so gentle and caring, definitely only gonna go here from now on.
There were a few massive holes in the ceiling in my parents basement (an estimate said it would be $1000 to fix) so I went to Home Depot, got the supplies and did it myself. This is something I would never even want to do, let alone actually do, so the fact that it’s fixed now is insane. Here's what it looked like.
Above Photo: This whole job cost $17 from Home Depot. Nothing is impossible.
I made my niece Layla watch Sleeping With The Enemy and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button for the first time and I think she liked both, which obviously I love. Love making people I love watch things I love.
Absolutely in love with this song. And this one, too.
So I got fake nails. Here they are.
Yes, I love them. Yes, they look perfect every single day and that’s amazing. But no one tells you the cons, so let me tell you what they are.
Pressing buttons is an annoyance. The buttons of debit machines especially (I’ve incorrectly put in my pin about three times so far), but also remote controls and car radio dials.
Peeling onions or garlic. Or cutting anything on a cutting board in the kitchen, basically.
You know after a shower when you towel off the wet parts of the inside of your ears? Can’t be done.
All zippers and buttons add at least five minutes to your life.
Look, I’m not an animal but sometimes your nose needs a little cleaning when a tissue ain’t gonna cut it. That being said, it is IMPOSSIBLE to pick your nose with these.
Typing at your regular speed.
Peeling clementines is simply out of the question (which is annoying because they’re so in season right now).
Putting on and taking off necklaces.
And most of all, yes you can still scratch parts of your body, but it’s an unfulfilling scratch. These nails aren’t as sharp as my real ones, so the scratch is lackluster.
That being said, I do love them. I’m not sure if I’ll get them again, but they’re beautiful and I can definitely see the appeal.
I watched a few episodes of Somebody Feed Phil with my brother Robbie and it’s a pretty cute show. I only watched the New York, New Orleans, Venice & San Francisco episodes, but I’m sure I’ll watch the rest soon. I think I liked it because the host really lets the guests be the charming, endearing ones, and most TV hosts aren’t very good at that.
So since we missed both Thanksgivings this year, we picked a random day to do our turkey dinner and this year I did the rub for the bird (Mom handled all the gross stuff) and it came out amazing! Also made my favourite salad dressing (love a shallot in a dressing), this perfect cranberry sauce and best garlic bread. And instead of a whole pie, we just got mini pumpkin tarts from Whole Foods. The next day, I finally made the moist maker sandwich (from Friends) and it turned out really well.
Best tweets of the month can be found over here.
Some things that I’m looking forward to this month: watching the new season of Big Mouth, doing the Polar Drive experience, there have been only two snowstorms so far and I can’t wait for more to come, and I’ve already started baking the chocolate chip Nutella cookies that I love to make this time of year but I want to try something new as well so I’m thinking about giving these ones a try. Christmas will of course be different this year, it’s looking like it’ll be me, my parents (since I’ve been staying here since October), Nathan & Baby Dog on Christmas morning, which actually seems like it might be kind of intimate and nice. It’ll feel wrong in certain ways because I love having my entire family here, but I’m going to try and make the most of it.
If you’ve got any interest in reading last month’s roundup, you can see what went down in October over here.

On The Rocks- 13
Part 12 Masterlist
I need a car.
I have avoided needing a car for two years of living in Toronto. I'm not the most comfortable walking distance from things but still walking distance but now that I work out in Etobicoke there is no way I can call that walking distance of any type.
I have lucked out as recent to be getting rides from Morgan or Mitch/Auston when they're over but it's coming on my third week on the job, and I feel like I've lost a sliver of my independence.
I mean yeah it's the guys that offer me ride overtaking a uber or transit, but I can't help but feel like a burden, yes we are going to the same place but if they wanna do something after they have to bring me home. It only makes sense that I get my first car I am 20 years old.
All this brings me to now, standing in the middle of a showroom surrounded by cars not knowing a damn thing about what to get, I should have really thought this through, i should've brought my dad or someone. Flustered I walk around some more taking interest in different cars so I don't look as lost as I actually am.
After 10 minutes of severely not knowing what I am doing, I fish my phone from my bag and text a plead out to almost all the male contacts in my phone that are in the general area of Toronto/
TO: Dad, Mitchy, AusTON, Mo, James, and Willeh
I am car shopping and have made a mistake, I don't have a clue what I am doing!SEND HELP!!! Will buy food and beer!
I added the address of the deal I was at and instantly greeted from a frowny face from my dad saying he's out of town. Dealing dejected after no response after 5 minutes I decide to head to a coffee shop that's across the street to wait the little bit more.
I only had to wait a couple more minutes when my phone started to ring on the table I now occupy.
"Hey Will," I answered the phone after the first ring.
"Well hello my little damsel in distress, You still need help?" He sounded like he was using his cars Bluetooth.
"Yes," was my instant reply before adding. "And you better now be calling to just say oh too bad because I really need help," I confessed after getting to now the young William Nylander he likes to make jokes, and it's cute until it inconveniences you. My little comment sparks a deep laugh from Will and someone else in his car.
"Well Mrs.Sass I don't think want to help you and now because I can," He snotted over the phone and I could vividly imagine him sticking his nose in the air for dramatic effect and from the laugh heard of the phone he did just that. Sighing having a brother I know that he playing and wants a reaction but I can play too.
"That's okay Willie, I'll just ask Kasperi. Hey, Kasperi I know you're there and I would love your help PLEASE," I teased, as i heard Kasperi crack up and Williams makes shocked noise.
"Yeah, No problem see you in ten," Kasperis voice deepen than Williams speaks first before a whining Will disagrees.
"Do I not get a say in this?"
"No, I am driving and I am going to help my friend, you can stay in the car if you like, I'll put the window down," Kasperi Heavily teased his sulking friend who made no further comments, adding to my laughter.
"Okay, I'll see you guys soon. I am just at the coffee shop across the road"
The called ended after that and true to Kasperi's words, the two euro blondes pulled up in Kasperis SUV and got out clad in warm clothes for the brisk February day. William sporting a frown as the accessory of choice as Kasperi is laughing at him but sends him to pay the parking to which William huffs dramatic before doing so.
I toss my garbage in the bin before joining the boys on the sidewalk, pulling my coat closer to my body as the cold air hit any bare skin, making some goosebumps rise and a chill run down my spine and I shutter.
"Well Hello, damsel in distress," Williams bows after his words making me shake my head and Kasperi smacks him upside the head.
"ow, you dick, " William pouts rubbing the back of his head.
"Anyways, How can I help?" Kasperi smiles greeting me with a hug before pulling away so I can hug the pouting blonde to his left.
"Well, I don't need a big car but I like speed and don't want to break the bank, you feel?" I explained Kasperi nodding at my words and William looks off into the distance at literally nothing but he does speak up.
"Literally me helping you consists of me bring Kappy here because I don't know shit about cars, How did you know it was him in the car anyways?" Williams eyes narrow at me.
"You guys are always together," I said like it was the most obvious thing in the world but I wasn't gonna say I recognized Kasperis deep laugh, having him been around me a lot these past weeks being called up last week to only increase the amount time I'm around him even more. He was always laughing at something Will or Mitch did or said.
"True enough well Amelia let's go get you some wheels, will you coming or getting a croissant your eye pretty hard right now?" Kasperi nudge Will whos staring at an old man's croissant in the shop.
"Oh yeah, I'll be here"
William is instantly inside of the shop after some parting words as Kasperi and I head to the dealer, this time more confident now having a guide to lead me. Still slightly overwhelmed by the options I glue myself to Kasperi's side not caring that I'm throwing myself at him. He slings an arm over my showers before a cheek smile graces his lips and sings (badly) 'Whole new world', which instantly makes me crack up.
"There's that smile of yours," Kasperi comments with a wink before drawing his arm back to himself and leading the way through the maze of cars, a blush tinting my cheeks a deep shade of crimson.
My brain is officially fried, Kasperi does know what he's talking about or so, I think because he could say anything and i'd believe it. I trust him enough to help me make my decision but at this point, I am ready to close my eyes, point my finger out, spin and whatever car my finger is pointing at is the one I'll get.
I stand looking a nice looking car is red and that's as far I know, Kasperi left me in this section to pee quickly but this is section has the type of car I need and now its what looks good. I honestly don't want a red car so continuing a little over I spot a blue car, not just any blue Leafs blue which draws me like a moth to a flame because it's probably my favorite color and I really wanna leave.
Dumbly standing alone looking at this car salesmen appear out of nowhere scares the absolute shit out of me.
"Hello!Would you like any help today?" The tall older man asked standing a little close for comfort which made me subconsciously step the opposite way.
"Uhm well- not really?" I didn't mean to make it sound like a question but I was awkward and had no idea what to do. The mans face turn to a thinking look before the overly cheery smile returns.
"Well, I have the perfect car for you. I think Sleek sports model would suit you, just like you," He shameless flirts making me move away again.
"Uhm I'm not alone my f-"
"Boyfriend," Came to Kasperis deep slightly accent voice as I was stepping back, resulting my back hitting into Kasperis chest lightly, at his words he snaps an arm around my waist pulling me to his side prove he is my 'boyfriend'. Following his lead, I lean into him and rest my hand his chest.
"Yeah, here is my boyfriend" I smiled looking up slightly to view I said 'boyfriend's face but only a little as he is only 3 inches taller but taller. We definitely looked the part, both smiling at each other, eyes warm. Looking back at the salesman who looks a little taken back and is slightly glaring at the large hand that is now laying on my right hip, the thumb rubbing circles on the slight bit bare skin, making me want to glare to but its drive me insane.
"Darling, Did you find a car you like?" Kasperi whisper into my ear, not sure if the salesman could hear him but he still added the I can only guess a Finnish term of endearment - i hope.
"Actually this is one," I said pointing to the blue one I was eyeing. Kasperi instantly starts talking business and car talk with the salesman who name is Walter, he leads us to a private office sitting at his desk, Kasperi and I across sitting closer than need but how a couple would sit, our hands entwined in my lap, thumb rubbing circles subconsciously.
They talked deals and car talk and I paid attention most but not really, I knew Kasperi would get me the best deal possible. As they continued to talk I busied myself inspection his hand, it was large and rough as expected, I mindlessly started tracing random shapes in his palm as I listen to which turn into a hand massage. Kasperi looks at me with a raised brow when the Walters attention is on his computer screen.
"What this what I do for a living," I shrugged with a blush as he eyes lighten and readjusting the held on my hand again so our fingers are intertwined again and nudging me soft with his elbow for no reason. Both of laughing softy but our little moment is interrupted by salesman Walter.
"Sign here" That's all I cared to listen to but I know if I needed to know anything it would be in my paperwork or I could ask Kasperi who is actually listening. I grab the pen with joy and sign all the necessary lines and pass the paperback before Walter leads us to the front to wait for my NEW CAR to be pulled out front for me, as we wait I hug the life out of Kasperi.
"THANK YOU! THANK YOU!" I squeezed his muscular frame tucking my head under his chin his arms coming around to squeeze me too, just not as hard.
"Here you go, these are your keys and back up," The Walter hands me the keys and I start getting giggly again, still slightly wrapped in kasperi. "You guys honest make the cutest couple," Walter said making me hide my face instantly just so happened to Kasperis neck.
"Thanks," My fake boyfriend said for us as i hear Walter leave back into the showroom, i remain in the embrace.
"I got a car," My lips stretch into a huge smile but slightly brush the skin of Kasperis neck, making me pull away before I make things weirder. Taking a few step towards my car for a good measure running my hands over the silky blue paint, excitement running through my veins.
"Let's take the baby for a spin," Kasperi cheered.
"Oh my god, we've been hours what about William?" I whipped my head to Kasperi eyes wide but he looks unbothered.
"I gave him my keys when I went to the washroom, I knew we'd be a while when I saw your determination," He reassured me, my breathe a sigh of relief.
"Well, lets go get you some food then," I said as we both go into the car, I didn't exactly wait for him to put his seatbelt on before I was on the road.
"Text Will to meet us at the works," I said excitedly to take my new baby for a spin.
"That's on in the middle of Toronto," Kasperi said with uncertainty.
"That's the point, you lucky I didn't say something way out the way like Niagra on the lake" I chirp before blasting a random classic rock station on the radio both of us jamming out.
Today was great.
I never stopped smiling, even after eating and going home having to park in the visitor parking having to pay.
Entering my empty apartment because Steph was out with her family, I dropped my keys on the kitchen counter before heading upstairs to shower and unwind,
I was still smiling.

5 Essential Tips for Senior Foot Care
Are you looking for “foot care services near me?” If so, you might want to learn a bit about seniors’ foot care needs before you choose your foot care specialists.
Foot care for seniors is very different from foot care for young adults. Seniors are less likely to be able to feel or reach their own feet. What’s more, seniors are at greater risk of foot-related ailments owing to other conditions that can affect the soles of their, the heel, toes and nails. Here are five essential tips for foot care for seniors.
1. Trimming Nails Isn’t Everything
Most seniors start thinking about receiving professional care for their feet because they can no longer trim their own nails. However, senior foot care is about much more than just trimming nails. A foot care professional who looks after your feet care should be able to identify and treat other common foot problems, from cuts to corns.
2. Your Care Provider Should Look for Swelling
Often due to diabetes or other health conditions, a person can lose some sensation in their feet. As a result, swelling, cuts and other injuries and illness that normally cause pain may be overlooked. Your care provider should be aware of that and, as part of your senior foot care routine, check your feet for injuries visually and look for swelling by feeling them.
Often, swelling on one foot can be found by comparing its size and shape to the other foot. If swelling affects both feet, your caregiver will find redness and tight skin. If this person is a health care provider, such as a trained nurse, they will be able to tell you if swelling may be due to your medication or illness; and if it’s something you should bring up with your doctor.
3. Clean and Moisturize
Senior foot care involves gentle cleaning on a monthly, weekly (and sometimes daily) basis in order to prevent infection and maintain health. All that cleaning can dry out already brittle and thin skin. So, your foot care specialist should use moisturizer to restore your skin’s vitality. You may even need medical-grade moisturizer, which lasts longer and provides better absorption into the skin.
4. Don’t Treat Issues Yourself
As a kid you might have burst your blisters or removed your own calluses. As a senior, doing so can open you up to infection and make it harder for your feet to heal. What’s worse, they can cause a lot of discomfort in walking. Let a professional show you how best to treat your foot issues.
5. Consider Nearby Foot Care Services for Seniors
When you’re looking for “foot care services near me,” choose someone who is nearby but also a professional. iCare Home Health has certified nurses in Oakville who can give you the expert footcare you need right in your own home.
