HI @spaghett-onaplate YOU SAID YOU WOULD LISTEN TO MY SPEECH ABOUT GEOCACHING SO HERE IT IS :) admittedly, i haven’t really done it in years and also i am going to go mostly off my memory so a lot of the technical aspects will be dodgy since i was. 8 or 9 years old when we started doing it and thus everything was handled by my dad. but. Here we go anyway!!
So geocaching is, at its core, a world-wide treasure hunt. You go around to different locations and look for some type of container that was put there, sign your name in the log, and then put it back to be found by the next person.
What is a “cache”? What does it look like? That’s one of the best parts: it can look like literally anything! One of the most common caches and perhaps the most well-known is the ammo can:
But people will use anything! Other common cache containers include: peanut butter jars, pill bottles, tupperware containers, and fake rocks. Geocaches come in all kinds of sizes, shapes, colors, styles. Things that my family has found used as geocaches include: a literal battery, a bird feeder, fake pinecone, gatorade bottle. As long as you can fit a little bit of paper inside it, it could be used as a cache.
Some paper? What is the paper? The log! Whenever you find a cache, you write your name (usually your username on the official geocaching website) and the date. This is used as a way to keep track of the cache, who has found it, how long it has been there. It’s really cool when you find one and find out someone had found the cache the same day you did!
Always bring a pen to sign the log!!! For some caches, there might be a pen inside the container, but it is always best to assume there won't be!
Official geocache website? Yep! This is where my knowledge is incredibly rocky, but I did watch my dad using it sometimes. But from what I can recall, the website is where all of the caches are logged so that you can get the information you need to actually, you know, find the cache! And it’s a community as well; people leave comments on the individual caches, saying that they found it and sometimes giving anecdotes about their experience in looking for it (ex. My family went to the bottom of a canyon here to get a cache once, and we were all dying on the way back up because of all of the stairs. We still make jokes 10 years later about the hellish canyon!). And, sometimes, they’ll say that they couldn’t find it, which does happen quite a bit! Either the cache was too well hidden, or a well-intentioned muggle found an old peanut butter jar covered in camouflage duct tape and thought it was just trash in a National Park, so they took it to dispose of it.
(Wait- muggle? Yeah, it’s unfortunate that the term is shared with that series, but muggle just refers to anyone who is not a geocacher!)
How do you know if a muggle has disposed of the cache you’re looking for? Really, you can’t. It can be assumed if, say, there are a lot of people saying they couldn’t find it and no one saying they could. But sometimes it really is just that well hidden. Oftentimes if it starts seeming like it might be missing, the person who originally placed the cache will go to see if they can find it since they know what it looks like and where it was originally hidden to verify if it’s still there.
It is for this reason it is always advised to put a geocache back EXACTLY where you found it! This is not always possible, and my family has had to semi-relocate caches in the past if the spot it was sitting is flooded or it otherwise seems dangerous for the cache to be there. But as a general rule, try to leave the cache exactly how you found it in the first place so that others can find it after you!
Who can place geocaches? Anyone! I do not know what all is involved in it, but caches are made by people in the community! It’s not as though there is an official group of people who place every cache. There are way too many for that to be the case.
Are geocaches only in parks? Nope! They can be found anywhere! National/State Parks (at least here in the US) are very common, but some other places we have found caches include: water towers, highway guard railings, the woods just off the highway, cemeteries, parking lots, people’s yards, community centers, libraries, museums. (Let me tell you, it’s really fun to be 14 years old with your dad, standing outside of your minivan looking at the guard railing on a busy highway. We have had people pull over to ask if we need help before.)
Okay, so what information do you need to find a geocache? The information that we used was usually:
What size is it?
Micro (battery)
Small (pill bottles, fake rocks)
Medium (ammo cans, pb jars, some tupperware)
Large (water jug, birdhouse)
How hard is it? Easy, normal, hard, etc.
Coordinates As in, the literal coordinates. We had a handheld GPS for this, but from what I can see they also have an official app which should be able to do the same thing – assuming you don’t go somewhere without signal!
Fun fact! Some large enough geocaches will contain swag! Swag is usually just small, cheap items that are a take-one-give-one system in geocaching. I assume it is something used mostly for kids, but it can be fun to see what kind of swag a cache has! I got a few fun trinkets this way. If you are going to look for a cache that is medium or larger, it’s a good idea to carry a piece of swag with you in case something catches your eye! Travel Bugs are a special swag item! They’re different from normal swag in that you aren’t meant to keep them. They are often on journeys! You can pick up a Travel Bug from one cache, scan it’s tag to see where it’s been before, and leave it in a cache you find later down the road.
Where can caches be hidden? Anywhere – with one exception: caches should NOT be buried. They will never be underground. But other than that, pretty much anything is fair game! One of the most common places is in a UPS, an Unusual Pile of Sticks, which just means a pile of sticks that looks a little too well-positioned to have fallen naturally. But other places include: gardens in front of businesses (the first cache we found!), hanging from a tree, magnetized to the previously mentioned highway railings, underneath the cover at the bottom of street lamps, inside tree trunks.
What countries do geocaching? From what I know, every country! I have only ever found US geocaches because I have only left the US once and we didn’t get one in Canada, but I know my Uncle has found them in France as well. This is a world-wide game! I hope to get a geocache next time I leave the US :)
OKAY that is all of the information I can think of right now. I kind of really want to get back into geocaching now, make my own account! My family found I think over 5000 geocaches from when we first started until now, from all across the country, including at one point I think almost every cache in Georgia. So I would be starting way from scratch, but it would be my own adventure :) plus I would get to revisit some places! (maybe not the canyon.)
Questions? I am open to answering further questions, though again I definitely don’t know everything, I just spent a lot of my youth doing this! But, I do also have access to my dad who knows a lot more of the specifics and details than I do. I also recommend looking at the official website for more information as well!
#that got. long.#in my defense the speech was meant to be like 10min#this could be a 10min speech#anywayyyy i would have sent you this as an ask oscar but i figured it would be better to have it attached to me than to you skdfhsd#ANYWAY!!!#as you can probably guess i highly recommend that people look into geocaching it's super fun#and you get to go for walks through parks a lot of the time!!!#or in fact you could do it ALL the time if you just. choose to look for caches that are in parks exclusively which you could 100% do#ANYWAY I NEED TO GO TO BED I HAVE TO GO TO WORK IN THE MONRING#i spent an hour writing this instead of getting ready for bed sdkhgsdhkg#geocaching#shh ac

hai, im getting the receipts (art i made of them) still, but. in short, he's just a lil guy with so much happening to them and half of that they dont even Remember for half of the story (this lil shit got Plot going on, and that was accidental)
anyways, Miel is my special lil kitty cat oc with a certain power im still in the process of balancing: his copy ability
it works in the way that anything they see they can replicate, including weapons, objects and movements (unless is the sole two weapons they havent copied from anyone, a scythe and a pair of clawed gloves)
anything physical like fighting moves they can copy them Perfectly but only once, she needs to see it a lot more for it to stick in some way
meanwhile material objects they can only copy the looks and whatever they see those can do. like if a sword has a hidden fire option, but they only see the sword, they'll make an identical copy of that sword without the fire aspect if they dont see it used. that copy is also a scarlet red
they also got a bounty on them for the sole fact that they like being a bit of a curious menace. and also are friends with a few odd guys here and there (they are besties with dynamite <3)
and from their point of view they have always had this weird copy ability (personally i call it the copycat ability skjdfhsd) but many things happened before that point, and some of them are gonna bite them in the ass sooner or later,,
here's the receipts btw,
but also, and the most important thing about this lil dude-
he loafs.
@stickmenyaoi I would like to see Miel 🥺
Lol Wilson is unspecified creature, kind of cat dog weasel man. He's fluffye and that's what matters<3
Please tell me about your fella!!!
#miel.yaoi#<- their tag on this blog#this guy got so much stuff going on. any pronouns lad. kittypilled. weirdass past and a weirder future on the horizon#n some of that makes sense#other... not so much. Yet!#anyways i just woke up so if smth doesnt make sense here dw abt it#also first art is called ''fuck around and find out'' skjfhsdf#and that last one before the loaf is a Slight redesign i started working on yesterday :3#and abt the url. yeah i got no idea how i got it tbh i thought someone else already had it but nope. and im having sm fun with it skdfhsd

so I just read your post about making ihm smutty bc of the ungodly amount of edging in kickoff and girl I GROANED in relief
don’t get me wrong I love love love kickoff just the way it is but yeah I mean it just makes sense cause of the age difference between the couples and even even if torus a frat hoe the kickoff babies are just babies 🥺 not me being younger
anyway yes have the adults fornicate it’s only natural :)
but ofc I hope and pray the kickoff bbs FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK it out too
:)
-spinster anon 💋
LOLOL i mean i think ihm will still be slow burn relatively speaking thoughhh cuz like everytime i think that the chapters will be short and i'll get a lot done, BAM 15k words just to get through half of what i had planned xD so word count wise i think it might be a lotta slow burn still but like relationship wise i don't think they're gonna wait 3+ months to fuck like kickoff couple D:
yes true i think the lack of hooking up in kickoff is more so cuz gojo's like...unsure of what a "regular" relationship timeline is like bc he's so used to fucking up front so i think he's kind of afraid of rushing into things but also like he needs to relax xD and then yea reader is hesitant and she is avoidant attachment so she's unsure of what to do w gojo's attention now that she has it. sorry skdfhsd idk why i went into psychoanalysis mode here hahah but yea ihm couple overall are more secure emotionally bc they're older n more experienced so i doubt they'd overthink hooking up as much as the kickoff babies
i'll signoff w lipstick for you bb

okay but i can’t stop thinking about how bela would’ve apologized for attacking reader after going feral in episode 8 like ik my bby would’ve been so sad that she couldn’t control herself :(
SHE WOULD'VE BEEN, the poor baby :( it's why i included the line, "Bela watches you go sadly, almost like a lost and confused puppy that doesn’t quite understand that it did anything wrong." like... the part of her that's still gripping onto her humanity knows she did something wrong, but the lost-control part of her is kinda clouding her actions? if that makes sense
i may... have a small excerpt on what Bela would act like, assuming the Reader didn't go back, instead kinda unintentionally forcing her to deal with the consequences of her actions in the forest :(
(A/N: this is how the chapter was actually supposed to go, but yknow. things change in the writing process, but here's what Bela would have acted like, if the story continued from the Forest Scene)
You sigh in frustration and close the book you'd been trying to read for the last hour. You couldn't focus; you're not sure why, but your mind returned to the day's events, replaying everything over and over until you were sick to your stomach.
Cassandra had wrapped your leg as best she could, insisting you get plenty of rest so that it could actually heal. That wasn't really possible when you were left alone and worried if she would come back while still in her feral mood.
You know better than to think Bela would have ever hurt you intentionally. She wasn't in her right mind, her judgement clouded and control lost from the blood she'd drank. She doesn't see you as her prey, something she's assured you of time and time again.
Still, you can't help the way your heart drops to your stomach when you hear buzzing or someone snapping orders down the hall. Your mind is ready to reach for someone to help if the worst happens, but so far, she seems to have been on the complete other side of the castle since returning.
You flop against the pillows on your bed and stare up at the ceiling, mind wandering once more. You'd prefer if it didn't do that, but you suppose you don't really have a choice.
You don't get far in your mind and the contents within when you hear a quiet knock on your door. Snapping to attention almost immediately, you sit back up on your bed, eyes already on the door. Your room has darkened considerably from when you were first carried inside, but you can still see well enough. It's the only thing that keeps you a little sane.
"Little one?" comes Bela's voice, soft as it drifts into your ears. You stiffen, your heart picking up its pace as your fingers clench in the blankets beneath you. You don't know how you didn't feel her- "Might... I come in? I understand if you don't feel safe enough to allow it."
Oh.
Your jaw clenches as you look away from the door and toward the fireplace. At the very least, it seemed she was a little more sane now. She probably wouldn't tear out your throat anytime soon, but-
"The... door is open," you call out, sealing your fate in just four words. You swallow and look down at your lap. "It always is."
It takes a moment for the door to slowly creak, and you watch as Bela peeks her head in, eyes finding you immediately. She looks away just as quickly, her hood covering her features as she ducks her head and enters your room.
She hides something behind her back as she moves toward the fireplace, keeping whatever it is hidden from your sight. You watch her curiously, brows furrowing when she fidgets with the object.
"How's your leg?" she quietly asks. It seems as though she's intentionally keeping a lot of distance between the two of you, and part of you is thankful for it. "I... know sickle wounds can be difficult to heal."
Your eyes narrow at her as she refuses to look your way. "It's fine."
She nods and glances at the ceiling. Despite the light hitting her back and casting her entire body in darkness, you see the smeared mascara on her shadowed cheeks.
Oh, no-
"Good, that's..." She takes in a shaky breath, looking back down as she brings her hands away from her back. God, this is so awkward. You didn't think she could ever be such a thing, but here you were. "I'm sure the other books you have in here... You've read them, right? I-I have another one, it's... one I don't show to others."
Your head tilts at her, heart still pounding against your ribcage. You're in a confined space with a murderer-
But she's given you no reason to doubt her motives, not yet. Besides, before today's events, you actually liked being in her presence. Nothing has changed. She made a mistake, one she couldn't control, and you had survived.
She's still the same Bela you were quickly falling for, the one that kissed you like she was afraid you would shatter in her hands if she let you go for even a second.
You trust her.
"That's not why you came here, is it?"
She finally meets your gaze for a few moments, dull eyes searching yours. She looks back down at the book in her hands, shaking her head. "No, I... I came to apologize."
She takes a deep breath, looking back up at you as she takes a step forward-
You try to resist, but some part of your mind forces you to flinch away as she steps forward.
Bela freezes, eyes widening as she watches you, as your heart thunders in your chest.
She clenches her jaw and looks down at the floor, fingers tightening around the book in her hands. Her shoulders shake, breath shuddering as she releases it-
Your mind reaches for hers, just for a brief moment. You think it means to comfort her, to pull her away from a point of no return. You hear her, every thought as it speeds through her mind at a pace you struggle to keep up with.
Your fault-
Did this-
Supposed to be afraid-
Monster.
Killer.
Freak-
"Lady Bela," you softly say, shifting your body toward her. She tenses again, eyes flicking up to meet yours. "It's... I didn't mean to. I'm not afraid of you."
That's a lie, but it's what she needs to hear right now.
"Can I..." She sets the book down on the table in front of your fireplace, all tension releasing from her bones as she does so. She merely fidgets with her gloves as she watches you again, clearly debating what to say next. "May I sit with you?"
Yeah, this is the Bela you adore to little pieces.
You nod and shift, lightly patting the empty spot beside you. Her eyes light up at the gesture, and she slowly moves toward the other side of your bed, ensuring you can see every part of her as she sits down on the edge, her back turned toward you.
She brings a hand up, running it through her hair as she lowers her hood. "Today was..." She shakes her head, picking at the hem of her glove again. Nervous habit? "I'm... I'm sorry, little one. I should have better control over myself, over that side I try to keep from you. I didn't intend to..."
The more she speaks, the more her voice shakes. Your heart cracks as you listen to her, fingers clenching in the blanket again.
She shifts and shakes her head again, bowing it. "I understand not trusting me, and I will do what it takes to ensure your safety in the future. I won't ask that you forgive me; I... I don't deserve it, not after what I did."
You frown at her back. "My lady-"
"I try so hard to be like Mother, and I... If I can't even control my urges around someone I care for, how could I ever expect to run things around the castle? It needs someone that can-"
"Listen to me-"
"-properly keep their self-control on a tight leash, and I know I'm not- You can find someone so much better-"
You move toward her, your hand resting on her back, right between her shoulder blades. She stiffens at the touch, head snapping to you as she watches you with wide eyes. You see the tear tracks on her face, smearing her mascara until it dripped down her cheeks.
"It's not your fault," you murmur. You try to bring her back from that place she would struggle to return from. Gently, you lift your hand to her cheek, cupping it as your thumb swipes over the tears staining her pale skin. She nearly sobs at the simple affection you give her, lips twitching down like she wants to cry- "Really, I'm fine. Mistakes happen, and I know you didn't want to do it. So, it's... It'll be fine."
Her eyes flick away from you as she moves to lower her head onto your shoulder, still keeping her movements slow. Your hand slides into her hair as you hold her head against you, and upon seeing you don't flinch away from her this time, her stiff and tense limbs melt against you.
She wraps her arms beneath your shoulders to grip onto the back of your clothing, and her head settles against your own as a sob escapes her, fingers clenching tighter on you. Your other arm encases her and holds her as she cries, telling you apology after apology until her words are nothing more than incoherent mumbles.
Eventually, you move her to sit a little more comfortably as you lean against your pillows again. She freezes at the action, the fear of you leaving her clear in her teary eyes, but when you open your arms again, she climbs back into your embrace almost immediately.
"I'm so sorry, little one," she whispers, her lips against the hollow of your throat. You bring your hand back to her hair, nails gently scraping against her scalp. A few of her bugs buzz at the sensation, crawling gently on your skin as you hold her tight, lips against the top of her blonde hair. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry-"
You shush her, tugging her a little closer. Her head rests on your chest, her ear right over your heart beating against your ribcage. One of her hands idly draws shapes on your shoulder, and her other rests somewhere under your neck.
Her cries quiet, eventually, and her breathing evens out soon after. Her chest rises and falls rhythmically, and once her hand stills on your shoulder, you know she's fallen asleep.
She may be your protector in most other circumstances - standing tall and fearless as she defends you against anything willing to test their luck - but, just for tonight, you can be her protector.
There were certainly worse ways to fall asleep.

Hi so I actually have a couple old singers, all nonfunctioning unfortunately, but I've been trying to fix them up. But you can look up the serial number on the plate up and see the specific model name, number, and manufacturing date! And use that to look up the specific specs! Best news about yours is that since it looks like it's in fab condition, you only really need to replace the band from the wheel to treadle and it should be good to go as long as there's no rust inside!!
ooo thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely do some more research on it through that! yeah from what i can see there isn’t any rust, the band is just coming apart. whoever had it before me must’ve hardly touched it. I appreciate this so much, thank you!! 💕
#the history major in me went *grabby hands* when i saw this#i bought it and immediately ran out the store with it skdfhsd#melancoliaiv#inquiry

your art has such an interesting style, it's incredibly distinctive and so pleasing to look at. it makes me think of a mix between alphonse mucha and yoshitaka amano, w the general line style and the bold but kind of whimsical colours!!
omg thank you so much 🥺🥺🥺 i definitely take a lot of cues from mucha’s work, especially with how i tend to do my lines, and amano’s pieces are so beautiful it makes me literally 😭 that what i make reminds you of it!! i definitely do favor using very light with very dark colors (i was true black pretty often along with some shades very close to it) to contrast with each other while also using a limited palette, and that process is easily my favorite part of any piece so i’m always really happy to hear that people enjoy the way i do it!! y’all are really the sweetest 🥰😊💝💝💝
#linework is definitely the hardest part for me skdfhsd#sketching is fine lineart is hard coloring is fun uwu#honestly like a lot of ppl once i finish linework i'm like :\#but colors always pull it together for me so!!#i'm so glad you like them aaaaa#Anonymous
